Forensic Pathologists And Autopsies
The Importance of Forensic Pathologists and Autopsies Death becomes a part of every single
person s life at some point in time, whether it is in the form of a close relative, parent, spouse, or
even one s own death. While it is not the most pleasant subject, death is something that needs to be
addressed to prepare those who will have to manage it when the time comes. Depending on the
situation at hand, certain circumstances of demise may not be completely understood, and in these
cases, autopsies can provide families with closure by giving them answers needed to clarify any
questions that may have come along with the loss of their loved one ( American Autopsy Services ,
np). With new advances in technology and new medical diagnostic systems,... Show more content

Having an answer regarding a loved one s death in cases of uncertainty is psychologically
beneficial to the family members, especially if they are concerned that the death had occurred
because of something they did. If there were any genetic disorders that led to the death, those can
be clarified and relayed to the family as well. Clinicians and hospitals benefit from autopsies
because they provide reassurance of the diagnoses, treatments and the appropriateness of the
medical care received. Society experiences the benefits of autopsies through the evaluation of
diagnostic tests, drugs, and diagnostic techniques along with advanced medical knowledge of new
diseases as well as environmental, occupational, and existing diseases. Mortality statistics are only
able to be verified from autopsy data because so often statistics are inaccurate with the lack of an
autopsy (Stöppler,

Communism Vs Conservativism
Over the past couple of years, I have watched numerous political debates, from social issues to
economic policies. I have watched debates between the quick speaking Ben Shapiro, and the
bullish Cenk Uygur. Cenk always makes a statement, and when given counter evidence, his only
reply is Google it . Shapiro throws out three or even four pieces of evidence for every point he
makes. When Cenk gets upset, he lashes out at the crowd; Shapiro remains level headed and only
attacks the argument. Over spring break, I travelled up to Montgomery, AL, to page in the State
House of Representative. During my time as a page, I had the opportunity to meet ten to fifteen
representatives, across party lines. I was also able to meet the Speaker of the House, Mac
McCutcheon. This experience taught me a lot about the inner workings of the legislative system.
Even though different sides have their own opinions, in order to get anything done, compromises
have to be reached. When defining conservativism, or any other political mindset for that matter, it
is important to first explain the political spectrum. A common misconception is that the two
extremes of the political spectrum are Communism (Left) and Fascism (Right).... Show more

Because the free market regulates itself, government regulations add an extra burden, which slows
down growth and innovation. Conservatives believe that taxes should be as low as possible,
allowing the private sector to operate more freely and the economy to grow. With the government
out of the way, ordinary people are able to drive the economy forward. It has been proven during
the Reagan and Trump administrations that tax cuts and less regulation makes the economy
explode. Corporations save money, which they then invest back into the economy, causing it to
grow. Individuals also save money, which they will spend on consumer goods or put in a bank.
Either way, it will stimulate the

Attempting to Generate Virus-Like Particles From an Llarvirus
Nanotechnology is the control and manipulation of variously sized particles ranging between 1 to
100 nanometers (Doll, Raman, Dey, Burkhard, 2012). Virus and virus like particles, due to their
multiple capsid sites, allow for the addition of peptides and the manipulation of their genetic
material and protein subunits (Strable Finn, 2009). Scientists, as they learn more about the
production and alteration of these particles, have discovered their true chemical flexibility and
ability to assemble into useful nanotechnologies. As a result of these unique qualities, viruslike
particles are key particles in nanotechnology, especially in areas such as vaccination, tumor
targeting treatments, and other scientific fields (Strable Finn,... Show more content on

Nanotechnology, the manipulation of matter on the molecular scale, can be applied to numerous
scientific fields, such as medicine, surface chemistry, micro fabrication, and organic chemistry
(Destito, Schneemann Manchester, 2009). In general, these small sized particles are used to
improve the functioning of commercial products and, in the subsection of nanomedicine, are used
for therapeutics, tumor targeting, and vaccines (Crisci, BГЎrcena Montoya, 2012). For example,
the use of molecular nanotechnology improves vehicle fuel cells and catalytic converters, helps
filter wastewater, and strengthens commercial products, such as bowling balls and glue. (Doll et.
al., 2012). Harisinghani, through multiple experiments, also discovered that nanoparticles such as
iron oxide can be used to image lymph nodes in patients with prostate cancer (Destito et. al., 2009).
However, even with their vast range of applications, nanotechnology continues to raise issues on its
toxicity and negative impact on the environment (Destito et. al., 2009).
Viruses In 1844, it was demonstrated by Adolph Mayer that infectious agents were still being
transmitted to plants even when the infected sap was filtered through the Chamberland Pasteur

particles were discovered: viruses. Viruses are

Ravana Anand Neelakantan portrays Ravana as a loving father, an inspiring leader and a caring
brother. Ravana ceaselessly fights for the much deserved freedom and glory for the Asura race

source of this rumble sits an eighty six Ford Mustang GT Hatchback. The Mustang is black as

Economic Impact of Tourism on the Pacific Rim Essay
Economic Impact of Tourism on the Pacific Rim
Introduction
The Pacific Rim is a grouping of countries in the Pacific Ocean[1] that start from the Korean
peninsula down through south East Asia. Some of the common countries in this region are;
Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei.
The current economic situation has been gleam with poor performance from the main economic

To maximise foreign exchange earnings efficiency, countries where imports are attained from
should be targeted for tourism promotion, so as to allow influx of there currency. E.g. if most of
the mechanical imports come from Switzerland the government usually has to source Swiss Francs.
This can be done by targeting Swiss tourists.
Rise in Gross National Product
Tourism is an economic activity that provides to the GNP and per capita income of a country. In
countries with rich tourist history it could provide up to 25% of the local economy.
In 1994 Korea[3] for instance set up a successful 5 year plan that help them achieve a U.S $ 500
million income from tourism this target was shifted to US $ 10 Billion for the year 2000.(ref)
Increased revenue for the government
Government income rises in form of taxes; this could range from a multiple of options;
Visa fees; this is fee issued to passport holders of all or select countries to gain entrance into the
country. This can income can be sort after at the entry port i.e. airports, harbour docks or
International rail stations or at the Countries embassy/Consulate/ High commission in the country
of tourist origin.
The visa fees are usually categorised by the duration of stay, the frequency of return trips and reason
for entry.[4]

Child Marriage Should Be Legal
Children should be able to experience their childhood and be able to enjoy those worriless year
not worry about anything. Living life is not all about growing up, it about living and enjoys it to
help making yourself happy about what have accomplished and experience. A child should not
have to choose between their childhood and their parent or a religion. Both girls and boys are
affected by child marriage, but girls are affected in much larger numbers and with greater
intensity. Child marriage is seen across the country but it is far higher in rural than in urban areas.
Girls from poorer families, castes and tribes, and with lower education levels are more likely to
marry at a younger age.
Child marriage has been a popular situation in India, which leads to so many children losing their
childhood and becoming an adult to fast. A child shouldn t be married off before they become
women because they grow up to fast and forget how to be child and become a woman with lot of
responsible to handle before reaching the age 18 year. When a child get marriage at a young age
they re not beneficial form anything that is happen them it s just hurting them. Being married so
young limit their opportunities and early marriages can lead to numerous medical and
psychological problems, particularly in relation to early child births where the mother is not
physically mature. The misconceptions about child is that people believe that the kids are living

Special Considerations for Clients of Islamic Faith
When given this assignment, I was trying to think of a special population that I wanted to learn
more about. Many different special populations came to mind. However, there is one in particular
that I felt I knew very little about and began to question numerous aspects of their society; this
culture is the Muslimculture. After doing some research, I realized that one of the most important
dynamics to the Muslim culture is their Islamic faith. Islamis not only a religion, but it is a way of
life to this population (Burrell, D., Pg. 18). The beliefs that Muslims uphold, in this religious
sense, govern their way of life in almost every way possible. Once recognizing that religion is an
extreme influential factor to their society, I wanted to learn what part of the religion gives the
fundamental basis to this particular belief system. What I found regarding this are the five pillars of
Islamic faith (IslamReligion.com).
Islamic Faith The five pillars of the Islamic faith are of tremendous importance to the Muslim
culture. These five pillars are the foundation of Islamic teachings, principles and morals. One
could think of the pillars just as you would think of the pillars of a building. As some buildings
need pillars to remain standing, Muslims believe that the five pillars are essential to the existence
and continuation of their religion. There are many aspects to the Islamic religion, but the five
pillars are required for anyone who wants to acquire the title of

Differences Between Hylas And Philonous
Abstract ideas pertaining to epistemology in philosophy are almost as old as the concept of
philosophy itself. Dating back to thinkers such as Aristotle, carrying on throughout the medieval
period and into modern philosophy, abstracts have always been grappled with. George Berkeley
s epistemology about abstract ideas has historically been one that has drawn the attention of
many other scholars and philosophical thinkers. His thoughts on ideas, specifically his
expansion of Locke s general abstract ideas, are still argued to this very day. His critique of
Locke s view of abstract ideas and ideas in general, is successful in refuting his claims, and is
validated in the Three Dialogues between Hylas and Philonous, and can be expanded upon in
another one of Berkeley s works, A Treatise Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge.
Berkeley s work, Three Dialogues between Hylas and Philonous, can be described as a series of
dialogues between Hylas and Philonous regarding philosophical issues such as God and
materialistic substances as well as ideas. The overall goal of the work was to demonstrate the
reality and perfection of human knowledge along with the incorporeal nature of the soul, and the
immediate providence of a deity, in opposition to sceptics as well as atheists .(Berkeley, pg
xi)Throughout the work, it can be deduced that Philonous represents Berkeley s own point of view
regarding the argument at hand, while Hylas represents various opinions that oppose

The Formation of Arab Nations
The Formation of Arab Nations Much of the modern political Arab world was born at the end of
World War I, as outside powers divided up their shares of territories that were loyal to their
regimes. For example, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon came to exist along side the precarious
state of Palestine. By World War II, these states had begun to want independence, and the
following decades would witness revolution, regime change, violence, and, ultimately, a break
from the grips of the Ottoman Empire and European powers (Provence). Today, the so called Arab
Spring uprisings, ongoing now for several years, are in part as a result of mid 20th century political
rule and administration by outside powers. In the early 20th century, the... Show more content on

interest in being Jordanian (Anderson). That tension exists to this day, as Jordan continues to host
large numbers of Palestinians (Anderson), as well as Iraqis and Syrians looking to escape
instability in those countries (IRIN).
Jordan continues to serve as the place of escape for Arabs fleeing unstable places. Refugees from
Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and occasionally Egypt, live in Jordan. After the 2003 invasion of
Iraq Jordan took about 100,000 Iraqis seeking temporary escape from the war in their country
(IRIN). Jordan is a strong US ally and they were the second Arab state to sign a peace treaty with
Israel after Egypt. This is an enormously contentious issue in Jordan where about half the residents
are Palestinians who left their country between 1948 and 1967 (Anderson). When Jordan s King
Hussein signed the peace treaty it was a risky move. Jordan has no oil reserves, and the population
tends to be pretty poor. Some Jordanians saw the treaty as an indication of further instability rather
than development. Promises of US aid money and support helped prompt the deal, but Jordanians
understand this agreement means that the US is required to continue support Jordan indefinitely
(Anderson).
Other Arab countries experienced upheaval as well. Iraq, for example, has political boundaries that

Relation Regress Argument Analysis
In this essay, I will explain and evaluate the relation regress argument against resemblance
nominalism, by arguing in favour of the relation regress argument. Firstly, I will define what
resemblance nominalism and the relation regress argument is. Then, I will look at the plausibility
of and concerns about Russell s relation regress argument, by comparing it to various
counterexamples which argue in favour of resemblance nominalismand are against the relation
regress argument. Finally, I will demonstrate why the relation regress argument seems more
plausible than arguments in favour of resemblance nominalism.

economy is to restrict the number of objects in each kind to the least. It is quantitatively more
economical to admit to resemblance universals than to hypothesise a universal for each

This seems counter intuitive, to accept the existence of universals only when it suits an argument
and to decry its existence outside of that. Therefore, it seems more plausible to admit to the
existence of universals in general, not just as resemblance

Teachers Do Not Focus On Phonics
Introduction
There are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation out there concerning how educators can teach
reading, spelling and writing in school classrooms today. A common misconception is that teachers
do not focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers do not have any understanding of how to
teach phonics. So, what exactly is phonics in education? And, how can educators teach phonics and
the appropriate way to interpret or comprehend the written codes found in different words? This
essay develops a better understanding of phonics and the various teaching approaches that teachers
can use to teach phonics effectively toward enhancing engagement and motivation of student
learning.
Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and involves an
understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is made up of sounds and
these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241). Phonics entails phonemic
awareness or alphabet knowledge that is, converting various sounds in spoken dialect and
representing them in the written language. For children to learn to read and spell using phonics,
they must understand the relationship between sounds (phonemes) and letters or letter
combinations (graphemes) and then remember the specific letter sequences and patterns used in
different speech sounds. Phonics instruction thus focuses on developing the relationship between
spoken language and written dialect. The

The Basic Principles Of Ancient Chinese Philosophy
The Chinese region is profound and quite extensive. In Chinese culture and history, Taoism,
Buddhism and Confucianism seem to blend together. In the Shang Dynasty around 2000 BC, the
people of China were polytheistic, worshipping many gods at a time. People of this time
worshipped their own ancestors as gods, as they believed they became like gods after dying. The
basic principles of ancient Chinese philosophyconsisted of five features: spiritual existence,
morality, harmony, intuition, and practice. The philosophies before the Qin era were marked by
various ancient philosophical views. Most influential of these views were those of Confucianism,
Legalism, Taoism, and Mohism. According to Laurence Thompson, author of Chinese Religion: An
Introduction:
In China, people did not belong to an institutionalized sect, nor did their religious life have
anything to do with signing articles of faint. Religion in China was so woven into the broad fabric
of family and social life that there was not even a special word for it until modern times, when one
was coined to match the Western term. (Thompson 1)
Thus, Chinese religious culture is a profound and deeply intricate part of Chinese life even today.
Most of China s ancient beliefs still exist today and, because of it s great size and population,
subsequently has a larger impact on the modern world than one might think.
Although ancient Chinese philosophers studied different kinds of philosophical issues based on

1848 Revolutions
The disappointment of the 1848 Revolutions were not brought about by the disorder found in the
general population that drove the insurgencies. With a bottomless measure of substantial unrests all
through Europe, a lot of them fizzled without a solitary commitment exhibit that made it a
disappointment. These unrests were assessed standards, for example, communism, radicalism, and
patriotism. In any case, these unrests faded away rapidly and didn t produce much results. The
three noteworthy reasons of the disappointment would connection to the rebellions of individuals

They however were really fruitful in driving constitutions into Scicilies, Sardinia, the Duchies,

There was obvious disruption inside the procedure of the transformation. Nonetheless, the absence

Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover
Love can purely take an over a man, and drive him crazy. Robert Browning, demonstrates
Porphyria s Lover as a terrifying love story given from a lunatic s point of view. It is the story of
a man who is so obsessed with Porphyria that he decides to keep her for himself. In this poem
however, we find that this poem is more than just about a lunatic, and his obsession, but rather
find ourselves in the midst of a poem more depth. First, we can see how the role of nature can
express the mood of the poem. We find that Browning uses many poetic devices such as imagery,
meter and rhyme to give the poem that horrifying, spine chilling feeling. Also how Porphyria s
Lover is interesting because of the importance of class and society during the Victorian era.
Browning is known for his dramatic monologues, but in this poem, it s the reader s takes ability
to make inferences as well as to analyze the speaker s attitude towards Porphyria since he does
not give any background information of himself or the women she is obsessed with, Porphyria.
The Poem begins with a description of the weather, telling us that it is night, and the rain has just
settled in. We know things are soon to change when the poem tells us that the sullen wind was
soon awake (Browning 2), then tells us it tore the elm tops down for Spite (3). the storm is being
personified with such words as sullen , awake and spite that make it feel that the weather conscious

A Good Man is Hard To Find Essay
When are people responsible for their actions? According to Simon Blackburn s theory of Soft
Determinism people are responsible for their actions as long as true and available information is
possessed. Blackburn s short story revises the compatibilist definition several times. The revised
revised definition reads as follows: The subject acted freely if she could have done otherwise in the
right sense. This means that she would have done otherwise if she had chosen differently and,
under the impact of other true and available thoughts or considerations, she would have chosen
differently. True and available thoughts and considerations are those that represent her situation

outcome. Although she was not responsible for the murder of her family, her choices are the

Political Islam And The Islamic Islam
Political Islam is a term that was coined inside the scholarly realm to allude to the more extensive
group of political frameworks that are Islam oriented. The greater part of the states that draw on the
Islamic instructions to influence political and social elements of the general public are said to be
practicing political Islam. The vast majority of the practices will look for direction from the
Islamic conventions and the Muslim scriptural foundation to settle on choices that influence the
whole state and how it identifies with whatever is left of the world. While the term may not be as
old, political Islam or Islamism are old ideas going back to the 1920s. Gatherings, for example, the

Antisemitism in the Ukraine
How can one not help to think of the Holocaust during this time of unease in the Ukraine, Jews
were clearly targeted there. Leaflets were distributed to Ukrainian Jews which is reminiscent of
the Holocaust. These leaflets stated that Jews were to report their belongings and pay a fee of
$50 or risk their citizenship. Where the leaflets all a ploy to stir up controversy? Some believe so.
The Chief Rabbi of Ukraine gave an interview stating I am not going to comment on the origin of
this information. The Jewish community does not directly take part in political events. However
the Jewsas citizens do participate in the process of rebuilding the new Ukraine. Last week the
Head of Ukrainian Jewish Congress, Vadim Rabinovich, and I have contacted all Rabbis of all
Ukrainian regions and enquired regarding any instances of alleged anti Semitism. Not one Rabbi
reported anything out of the ordinary. There is no anti Semitism in Ukraine, as such. However, I
believe that groups interested in promoting such beliefs could find a way provoke and support
such thoughts. I therefore address everyone, there is common grief and Ukraine must be rebuilt

My Personal Experience In College
My first semester at the University of Evansville has been some of the best, yet hardest, days of
my life. I have made many new friends, joined clubs, attended events on campus, and worked out
at the gym, but along with all this fun came a lot of stress, hard work, and restless nights.
Although I had some rough times, I believe that taking ID 106 provided with me all the
information I need to cope when put into these situations and taught me how to avoid being put
into stressful situations. Dr. Powell lectured on positive psychology during the first week of ID
106, and I think that overall, this was the most valuable lecture all semester. Coming into
college, I knew it would be challenging, but I do not think I realized exactly how challenging it
would actually be. Dr. Powell s lecture on hope, resilience, self efficiency, and personal
responsibility allowed me to cope in times of struggle. For example, my first college exam was
in chemistry. I studied hard for the exam, and I ended up getting a C . I was distraught, but then
I remembered back to what I had been taught in ID 106. Instead of moping around and harping
on the bad, I decided to look at my test and figure out what I did wrong. That way, I could correct
my mistakes next time. After reviewing my first chemistry test, I realized that I was still not in full
understanding of why I missed some of the questions that I did. I knew right then that I needed to
talk to my professor, but he seemed intimidating, and I

The Effects Of Photography On The World War II
Photography is meant to capture the moment at hand, a moment in history that cannot be
duplicated, and in some aspects, attempt to physically hold a memory. However, not every
memory is made for the best. Joe Rosenthal snapped this photo on February 23, 1945 during the
Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. This picture, taken hurriedly in fear of missing the moment ,
depicts six soldiers: five Marines and one United StatesNavy Corpsman from the United States
hoisting the American flag. These soldiers were standing on the corpses of many people that
fought and died in the battle. Having been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, it became a symbol of the
United States s power; however, the battle ironically was so minuscule in the span of World War II
that it is not taught in most history classes. Americans have glorified the picture without
acknowledging the deeper meaning of its history.
The war resulted in casualties of over a million people, which was the largest amount of deaths
recorded in human history. It destroyed numerous countries such as Germany, Italy, Japan and the
United States. As depicted in the picture, the war resulted with the United States as superpower
and created a sense of balance within the world. World War II was one of the most significant
times in history. World War II had lasted six years in consequence of a continuing number of
conflicts. The picture shows how America is marking its territory as a sign of dominance over the

I have been eating plenty of protein lately, but my body was screaming for carbohydrates! As a
result, I succumbed to a three piece extra crispy, dark meat chicken meal from KFC. That, plus the
sweet corn and cheesy macaroni as side dishes, released more endorphins than a marathon runner s

Unfortunately, the fat and calorie rife meal of a lifetime, after several but fish, chicken breast, pork
and water, did not end with Colonel Sanders brand of comfort food. After eating such high calorie,
high fat foods, I figured my attempt to keep healthy was ruined. I started to have sugar cravings.
I don t mean fruit sugars, I mean cake batter and cookies and cream flavored yogurt topped with
mini M M s, cheesecake pieces and gummy bears! Baskin Robbins was right across the street, so I
took myself there and ate a double dipped waffle cone with all the toppings and trimmings.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ram Trucks
Ram Trucks, founded by the Chrysler Group in 2009, was created to focus on the public needs with
the pickup truck. In a male dominated truck industry, approximately 11% of pickup trucks are
registered under females. With such a small number of women buying trucks, Ram debuted a
television advertisement, during the 141th Kentucky Derby, to promote their new truckto women.
By doing so, they inspire women to break the stereotypes, especially the male dominated truck
industry. Through its carefully incorporated narration, Ram appeals to the courage of women
through aural and visual techniques and utilizes specific examples of females, who overcame
obstacles in their profession, to provide further inspiration and create a valuable rhetorical
commercial.
Ram immediately begins their advertisement by utilizing logos and pathos to embolden women to
fight against stereotypes. First, in the narration, the commercial exploits a series of repetitive
rhetorical question and appeals to the audacious emotions of the audience. Ram repeats have you

questions establishes an understanding and inviting tone that prepares the viewer for Ram s
overarching message. Next, allowing the viewer to comprehend these rhetorical questions, Ram
briefly pauses. Following this pause, Ram articulates their message: You can break a stereotype and

Abortion Should Be Legalize
Everyone has a different view on abortion. Some think it should be legalized while others think
that it shouldn t be. Nowadays, pregnancy is something you see in everyone from teens to adults.
Abortion gives the people the right to decide what s right for them and what s not. It should be
legal because people should be given the right to decide whether or not they re ready or not to
bring someone else into the world and provide for them. Abortionof course is a terrible thing, you
have to put yourself under the knife and actually think am I really going to go through with this,
is this what I want? No matter what, no one really wants to abort their child; there is always
more to it. Some people feel that if they bring a child into this world it is their responsibility no
matter what to be there for them whether they could afford it or not. Some people are just not
financially stable or emotionally prepared to give away they re child to someone else because
they won t be the one raising the kid. No child should ever get the feeling where they feel that
their parents are stuck with them; all women should have their own rights to their body. People
make mistakes a lot and they shouldn t have to live with them for the rest of their lives. An
example, If teens get pregnant, they should be able to get an abortion because teenagers aren t

The Effect Of Plasmid On Bacterial Gene Expression
The Effect of Plasmid Addition on Bacterial Gene Expression
Introduction
In the lab conducted, the main idea stemmed from the topics of genetic engineering and genetic
transformation. By definition, genetic engineering is the modification of an organism s genetic
composition by artificial means (Lerner). This often involves the micro insertion of genetic
material. Genetic transformation is the genetic alteration of cells resulting from the direct intake of
genetic material through the cell membrane (Transformation (genetics)). Both differ from other
means of genetically altering organisms due to engineering being able to occur between highly
differing organisms not of the same species, and transformation occurring at a molecular level ...

The purpose of the pGLO lab was to better understand the process of DNA transformation in
organisms, and to observe how genes are then expressed after the transformation occurs under
specific circumstances. A species of E. coli was used in the experiment as the necessary form of
bacteria. The independent variable was the altered plasmids that were placed inside half of the
collected bacteria, which contained new genes such as the glow gene (GFP) from Aequorea victoria
jellyfish, the switch for the GFP, and/or antibiotic resistance (Ampr). The following dependent
variable was then what genes the bacteria expressed after it had either undergone transformation
or not, which would be if it glowed or survived exposure to antibiotic. Another independent
variable was if the antibiotic Ampicillin or arabinose sugar were present in the petri dish the
bacteria were later grown in. The dependent variable was if the bacteria survived the exposure to
Ampicillin. There were four groups used in each experiment. The positive control group consisted
of bacteria that would be grown in an Luria broth (LB) with no additional plasmids or exposure to
Ampicillin or arabinose. The negative control group was one consisting of bacteria grown in a LB
and Ampicillin dish with no genetic transformation. The two experimental groups were then one
group where bacteria underwent genetic transformation and were

The Human Face Action Recognition System
Abstract In this paper we implement the Human Face Action Recognition System in Wireless
Sensor Network. Detecting movements of human is one of the key applications of wireless sensor
networks. Existing technique is detecting movements of a target using face tracking in wireless
sensornetwork work efficiently but here we implementing face action recognition system by using
image processing and algorithms with sensors nodes. Using sensor node we can collect the
information, data about human facial expressions and movements of human body and comparing
old data captured by sensors to the new capturing data, if data is match then we can say that
detecting human is same as early. Here we create new framework for face tracking and its
movements capturing, achieve tracking ability with high accuracy using Wireless Sensor
Networks. We use the Edge Detection Algorithms, Optimal Selection Algorithm, Image Processing
Technique, Action Recognition, the big data analysis. Using java language, various types of sensors.

Discuss Inventory Management (Chapter 20) from the perspective of cost, customer satisfaction
and profitability. What is the Wal Mart approach to Inventory Management? Inventory costs are
basically categorized into several different elements, but the elements that are typically derive the
most impact to the bottom line are ordering costs and carrying costs. However, costs associated to
shortages or stock outs, the cost of replenishment, cost of logistics, and cost associated with loss,
pilferage, shrinkage and obsolescence are significant to profitability too.
Ordering costs are based on two different factors including the ordering of excess inventory or not
enough. In some instances, procurement departments are challenged with purchasing decisions
whereas vendors will offer better buying prices if they tend to order in larger quantities. Initially,
the cost savings may seem beneficial up front, however, far too often the actually savings is not
ever realized because the inventory becomes obsolete and written off as excess. On the contrary,
ordering insufficient amount of inventory can result in stock outs and loss of sales ultimately

The Effects Of Antibiotic Resistance On Infectious Diseases
Introduction
Using antibiotics to treat infectious diseases as a result of bacteria has added 20 years to our
lifespan, but the rapid emergence of antibiotic resistance is hindering their effectiveness. Cutting
edge antibiotics are required, but they have not been developed in the last 25 years (WHO, 2016).
One class of antibiotics are beta lactams, which are sub divided into four different groups of
antimicrobial agents, as shown in Figure 1.
Carbapenems such as imipenem and meropenem are unique because they have a remarkably broad
spectrum of activities due to being resistant against hydrolysis by most beta lactamases, which are
enzymes that hydrolyse the beta lactam ring in some antibiotics (O Toole, 2013). This gives
carbapenems greater success against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. The key difference
between these two types of microorganisms is that gram negative bacteria have a double membrane
making them more resistant to antibiotics (Kaplan, 2000). For the reasons explained, carbapenems
are treated as last line agents or antibiotics of last resort when the health of patients with infections
deteriorates or they are hosting resistant bacteria (Papp Wallace, et al, 2011).
Gram negative bacteria such as carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) are worthy of
being called killer bacteria due to the mortality rate of those infected being as high as 50%.
Overuse of carbapenems endangers their vital role in rendering bacteria harmless. Some strains of

Essay on Low Birth Weight
Low Birth Weight
Low birth weight (LBW) is a term used to describe infants that are born under 2, 500 grams, or
less than five pounds eight ounces. This is a disorder that plagues certain races, age groups, and
the poor. Seven percent of all infants who are born in the United States are born too small and
eleven percent are born too soon ( Behrman). There are many risk factors that put a mother at risk of
having a low birth weight baby, as there are many complications early and later in life for the child.

Families living in poor income families have a greater number of LBW children. Women who are
involved in abusive relationships are also putting there unborn children at risk. This doesn t only
include physical abuse, but mental also. Women who are in stressful relationships or environments
are more likely to give birth to low birth weight children (LBW At a Glance).
There are a few things that a woman can do to decrease the risk. The first is to stop smoking, this
is the leading cause of LBW. A healthy diet and exercise are also important. Prenatal care is
important in all pregnancies. Prenatal care has not been directly linked to preventing LBW,
however, it doesn t hurt.
There are so many problems that can occur when dealing with a LBW child. These babies are
much more susceptible to infection because of their size (Zaichkin 191). They are also at a
greater risk for SIDS. SIDS is sudden infant death syndrome. The risk of this horrible syndrome
is much greater with a low birth weight child (322). These children are also at a thirty to fifty

Social Scandals in the Mystery Genre
In the mystery genre one can agree that for a mystery to function as it does, it must have
elements like a case that must be solved, a detective or someone who is playing as the detective,
and, in most cases, murder. But in the short story A Scandal in Bohemia, by Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle, a social scandal is a part of the theme, which is also seen in Witness for the Prosecution,
by Agatha Christie and Amber Gate, by Walter Mosley. Just as a murder or a crime disrupts an
aspect of society, a social scandal functions the same way. Normally, what we view as the private

Though, before, a man and his establishment was in danger because of a scandal, in this
particular short story, Miss French symbolizes the wealthy class while Vole symbolizes the
working class because he is working for Miss French and in need of money. In regards to the
symbolism, we also must take into account to the ideal that the wealthy and working class do not
overlap. In a way, this shows that one of the anxieties the society might have had at this time is
the wealthy class, functioning as the private life, being destroyed by the working class, which is
functioning as the public life. Furthermore, an example of this is seen when Mr. Mayherne says,
I am going to ask you a very serious question, and one of which it is vital I should have a truthful
answer. You were in low water financially. You had the handling of an old lady s affairs an old

engage in any transaction for your own pecuniary advantage which will not bear the light of day

topic. Social media plays a big role on both articles. On, Why I just asked my students to put their

Key Themes In Peter Carey s Exotic Pleasures
There are multiple themes that can be discussed from Peter Carey s short story, Exotic Pleasures.
The story s main characters are husband and wife whose life is in a tangle before they meet their
other companion, the bird. The couple is driving in town, torn in deciding how they will use
their remaining few dollars. They even contemplate that they will take food and champagne and
leave without paying for them. However, before they do this, the bird brings in a new kind of
fortune for Lilly. Once she strokes the bird, she feels certain kind of pleasure, which she shares
with her husband and many people afterward. The bird can provide them with extra coins, but the
story does not end with them staying happily ever after. Lilly eventually confesses to Mort that
she thinks that he is angry because a tiny bird could give her the things he could not offer. They
almost run into an accident and bitterness of the argument leads them to drive to a new place,
Kennecott, where they meet more of the similar birds. The story ends in suspense as we do not
know what Lilly and Mort do with the newly found exotic pleasures. The setting of the story
contributes to the outlining of the themes in a massive way. This essay examines ways in which the
setting relates to the themes of the story. In the story, Peter Carey suggests that capitalism is out of
control. This theme is supported by different expressions of the setting in the story. The first setting
we experience is a show of modernity

Sleeping Disorders
Sleeping Disorders Sleeping disorders may seem minor, but many can cause severe health
damage. These health damages vary within each type of sleeping disorder. On an average, people
will spend 25 years sleeping and it is astounding how little people know about what goes on after
they turn the lights off and lay their heads down; sleep can help people strengthen memories,
improve physical performance, and become faster learners. There are many different types of
sleeping disorders, including Insomnia which is the inability to fall asleep. Sleep Apneais another
sleeping disorder that interrupts breathing during sleep and causes an increased risk of heart
disease. This sleeping disorder causes people to wake up as many as 100 times a night.... Show

PLMD is kicking movements in the legs and arms, and each leg movement can wake a person up.
It is often repeated every 20 40 seconds, and the range of people over 60 that have PLMS is 64%.
Remedy s of Health Communities stated, PLMD is a common sleep disorder, especially in the
elderly (Stanley J. Swierzewski). Since these movements at night tend to wake people up at
night, PLMD usually causes patients to have daytime drowsiness. Most people that have this
sleeping disorder are unaware of it unless someone is asleep with them in the same bed. Cases of
PLMD have been treated with sleeping pills that have also been helpful for treating the movement
disorder of Parkinson s disease. Overall, PLMD is a very intricate sleeping disorder with aspects
that can throw people off sleeping

Formal Vs Informal Onboarding
The formal and informal onboarding program both send a distinct message to the new hire so it
is important to understand the advantages and disadvantages of both. First, informal plans are
unstructured and without an explicit plan. An advantage of the informal plan is your company
will be able to see right away if the new employee can adjust and learn quickly on their own. It is
a sink or swim tactic that puts pressure on the employee to learn quickly without devoting any
money or resources to training the new hire. Disadvantages of this approach is that the onboarding
is very loose without any support or direction. It does not consider their needs and the process can
vary for every new hire because there is not a system that has the steps... Show more content on

If I was Trevor, I would write down what I need Trevor to improve on and set up a meeting to
understand why his performance has decreased so significantly. In the meeting, I would first
introduce myself and get to know Mark better on a personal level. Next, I would tell him that I
have heard great things about what he has done for the company and that I am very glad to be
able to work with him. I would then explain how I understand that he is disappointed that his
older manager left that was very close to him and his employees. Last, I would explain to him
that the success of the company is key to everyone and that his performance needs to improve
and if he needs anything from me to let me know. To conclude, I would set up a date soon to get
lunch with him personally so a relationship starts to develop between us. This is key because it
seems that Mark works best when he has a good relationship with his manager. If Mark s
performance doesn t start to improve, we must start looking deeper into the situation and
possibly find a replacement for the position. The GROW coaching model is a way to help improve
and coach skills that people have identified as necessary to their success. First, it is key to
perform a SWOT analysis on yourself and then create an action plan on where you want to get by
setting goals for yourself. Once you pick a skill you

The Case Of The Legal Rights
The following case study presents issues related to the legal rights afforded the accused and the
reasons those rights are provided to all individuals under our system of criminal justice.
John Doe is an individual that left his country in an effort to make a better life for himself.
However, he does not have legal status in America and was recently arrested for shoplifting, which
was valued over $1,000. At the time of his arrest, John voluntarily began to make incriminating
statements to the arresting officers. At the police station, detectives conducted an interview of John
asking him about the theft. John Doe has had no prior arrests, is 35 years old, and most of John
Doe s family still resides in his home country. Due to the amount of ... Show more content on

When John started to utter the self incriminating statements in front of the police officers he was
not under any force to make the self incriminating statements. For example, the Court ruled that
when a defendant makes an un Mirandized incriminating statement followed by a later
Mirandized confession, the subsequent confession should not be excluded from trial (see
Oregon v. Elstad, 470 U.S. 298 [1985]). The un Miranda situation was completely legal by the
police officers due to the factor that John wasn t being interviewed in the patrol car and at the
time of arrest. It is believed by society that the Police must advise Miranda warnings at the time
of the arrest. To advise a person of the Miranda warnings there must be a requirement which is
when a person is placed in custody which then deprives of his/her freedom in any significant way,
the police must advise by given a Miranda warning prior to interrogation of the suspect. (Police
Questioning: When Miranda Warnings Are Required, 2010). The requirement for Miranda warning
is custody with interrogation voluntary statements are not subject to Miranda warnings, so an
officer need not stop a suspect from making incriminating voluntary statements. If the police
officers were conducting an interrogation during the time of arrest to include in the patrol car then
the situation would have changed requiring the

Similarities in James ThurberВґs The Dog that Bit People...
Mark Twain and James Thurber use conflict and figurative language to develop and enhance their
humorous writing. Although conflict can be humorous in itself, the way conflict is presented and
the author s tone used with the conflict can greatly increase the humorous effect. Mark Twain s
short story, A Toast to the Oldest Inhabitant: The Weather of New England, pokes fun at the
uncertainty of New England weather, while Thurber s short story, The Dog That Bit People,
explores the adventures of a unique, matchless dog. Both authors have a very relaxed, casual, and
sometimes satirical tone. The tone expressed by Twain and Thurber leads to very humorous moods
in these two short stories. Conflict, having the ability to control the... Show more content on

Along with Twain, Thurber adds hyperboleto his writing: Major Moberly fired at him once with his
service revolver near the Seneca Hotel in East Broad Street (526). While people have gotten very
angry at Muggs, no policeman has actually ever shot at him. Understatement, speaking of things as
if they were less important than they are, is another tool Twain and Thurber use to add humor. You
fix up for the drought . . . and ten to one you get drowned. You make up your mind that an
earthquake is due . . . and the first thing you know, you get struck by lightning. These are great
disappointments (Twain 523). Twain suggests that getting drowned or struck by lightning are just
disappointments, while in actuality, these events are catastrophic. Thurber writes, He just bumped
you, after Muggs had bitten Mrs. Detweiler (529). Being an example of understatement, getting bit
by a dog is actually much worse than just getting bumped. An author s diction can also aid in
creating a humorous short story. Mark Twain uses the words sumptuous variety, dazzling
uncertainty, peculiar, utterly disproportioned, and bewitching when describing the weather in New
England (521 523). These words expand upon the reader s understanding of the uniqueness of the
weather, the hyperboles, and the understatements. Similarly, Thurber s unique diction shows with
the words he uses to describe

Trift Store Analysis
Most thrift stores have a sameness to them: they sell used clothing, furniture, books and kitchen
items and the like. Workers you meet in these shops are generally volunteers and very nice, and
the stores most often raise funds supporting not for profit organizations. This would be your
typical thrift store in the Phoenix market. However, there is a store which offers something
different. Flerish Design and Resale is a thrift store, but the workers who greet you at the door
have special needs. The store is one of the training centers for the Civitan Foundation, which
provides a variety of vocational, recreational and educational services for the developmentally
disabled. At Flerish, located at 12621 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, Civitan members ... Show

Programs are structured with goals to allow people to showcase their talents, while earning fair
compensation for the skills they have worked hard to achieve. More than 70 (?) Civitan
members work at Flerish on a weekly basis. Civitan strives to develop programs which help
developmentally disabled people build confidence and life skills to enrich their lives and live
more independently. Other vocational programs offered through Civitan include: Janitorial and
custodial, fleet vehicle interior and exterior cleaning, light grounds keeping, clerical and
reception, and food services and catering. Flerish is more than a thrift store where you can find
items at sometimes 90 percent below retail costs. You will also find fine art pieces with the
artists who made them often in the store! There are paintings of saguaro cactus, flowers,
undersea landscapes, pottery, as well stylized cowboy boots, furniture and other works of art. You
can even commission an artist to paint a portrait of a pet dog or cat. The artists create many of
these items in the gallery, located within Flerish. Every piece of art belongs to the artist, so when
you buy a painting, or commission a pet portrait, you are paying the

Intervention Plans Can Impact Health Care In Many Ways,
Intervention plans can impact health care in many ways, but successful plans may provide a benefit
to either patients, facilities, or both. Evaluation of an intervention plan is necessary to determine its
effectiveness and the value of the intervention s impact in healthcare. In congestive heart failure
(CHF) patients engaged through a telehealth program, the effectiveness of the plan revolves around
the intervention components. Identifying outcomes and tools to measure the data obtained through
the intervention will assist advanced practice nurses (APN) in identifying which aspects of the
intervention provide the most benefit. The purpose of this paper is to describe methods to evaluate
the effectiveness, identify short term, intermediate,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a small study, symptom data was collected through a web application regarding symptoms of
CHF that identified improvement of symptoms through self management (Dorsch, Farris, Bleske,
Koelling, 2015). Utilizing the data collected in the telehealth program would provide clinicians
with data on weight, blood pressure, medication use and oxygenation (Appendix A). In the CHF
telehealth intervention, patients provide self care based on the provider instructions at discharge
and through office visits. Studies have shown that self management is a major element of CHF
management (Lee, Lennie, Warden, Jacobs Lawson, Moser, 2013). Patient perceived low QOL is
a major predictor of mortality and evaluating the CHF telehealth interventions utilizing qualitative
survey data will help guide any revisions in the plan of care (Hoekstra et al., 2013). The
Minnesota living with heart failure questionnaire (MLHFQ) is a widely used tool in healthcare
that assesses the patient s perception of the effects CHF has on their life (Munyombwe et al.,
2014). Monitoring telehealth data and QOL survey components would provide data on
improvement of CHF care both from a clinical perspective as well as from a patient perspective.
Outcomes There are two main forms of data collection, formative and summative ( Building our
understanding, n.d.). Formative data is obtained during the planning and implementation phase of a
project whereas the summative data is obtained once the project is well

Balanced Scorecards Of Managerial Accounting
Balanced Scorecards in Managerial Accounting There is a great deal of struggles Managers face
when it comes to accounting related decisions. Financial reports are often conducive in coming
up with resolutions regarding company operations, but they don t necessarily contribute to the
direct goals and missions of said companies. Individuals such as Nolan Norton and Robert
Kaplan were among the first group to recognize the dilemma of solely relying on financial
reports and the outcome resulted in what is now known as a balanced scorecard (Bible, Kerr,
Zanini, 2006, p. 18). In an article written by Larry Bitner and Mary Myers (2010), Kaplan and
Norton state that balanced scorecards are used for translating an organization s mission and... Show

18). What eventually resulted from these meetings is the balanced scorecard. According to
Bible, Kerr, and Zanini (2006), Kaplan and Nolan s group: Companies use four common
perspectives in their scorecard, supplementing these with a number of customized perspectives
as needed. The four perspectives were: financial, customer, internal, and innovation and
learning. Each perspective helped answer a basic performance question: How do we look to
shareholders? How do customers see us? What must we excel at? Can we improve and create
value? (p. 19) This concept was initially summarized in an article in the Harvard Business
Review in 1992 followed by two subsequent articles to expand and improve the strategy with the
third article setting new standards and encouraging companies from all over to adopt the ideas
companies (Bible et al., 2006, p. 19). Since it was originally published the concept of the balanced
scorecard has changed and grown significantly. The main goal of the balanced scorecard as
described by Loreta ValanДЌienД— and Edita GimЕѕauskienД— (2007) is [to measure]
consistency of organizational strategic goals and measures for their achievements . Basically it
takes into consideration other factors besides just financial reports and keeps all aspects of the

Patent Indirect Infringement Of Patent Infringement
1.Introduction
Patent indirect infringementпјЊas the name impliesпјЊis opposite to patent direct infringement.
Generally, the conception of patent indirect infringement is to meet the need of pantent protection.
It expands the protection domain of the patent right to the no patented products, improves patent
protection s horizontal and provides sufficient legal protection for patentees.
Nowadays, more and more countries ordain the system of indirect infringement in their patent laws
in order to protect the patentees effectually, and the system of indirect infringement has become a
full blown law operating mechanism in the protection of patentees. But so far it is not prescribed in
Chinese patent law. However, as China is more and more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

2. Case Description(Actavis V Liily [2015] EWCA 555 (Civ))
In June 2015пјЊEli Lilly won a patent case to Actavis in the the Court of Appeal in London. The
case was about Lilly s key blockbuster Alimta lung cancer drug, which was granted a Patent (EP
1 313 508 B1) on April 18 2007. The decision of the Court of Appeal overturned the decision last
year in UK high court, and would also apply to France, Italy and Spain.
At the first instance, Mr Justice Arnold used the improver questions to decide that there was no
direct or contributory infringement of using generic products containing pemetrexed diacid,
pemetrexed dipotassium or pemetrexed ditromethamine. In that decision, Mr Justice Arnold relied
on the prosecution history of the patent and concluded that during prosecution of this case, Eli Lilly

  • 2. Forensic Pathologists And Autopsies The Importance of Forensic Pathologists and Autopsies Death becomes a part of every single person s life at some point in time, whether it is in the form of a close relative, parent, spouse, or even one s own death. While it is not the most pleasant subject, death is something that needs to be addressed to prepare those who will have to manage it when the time comes. Depending on the situation at hand, certain circumstances of demise may not be completely understood, and in these cases, autopsies can provide families with closure by giving them answers needed to clarify any questions that may have come along with the loss of their loved one ( American Autopsy Services , np). Having an answer regarding a loved one s death in cases of uncertainty is psychologically beneficial to the family members, especially if they are concerned that the death had occurred because of something they did. If there were any genetic disorders that led to the death, those can be clarified and relayed to the family as well. Clinicians and hospitals benefit from autopsies because they provide reassurance of the diagnoses, treatments and the appropriateness of the medical care received. Society experiences the benefits of autopsies through the evaluation of diagnostic tests, drugs, and diagnostic techniques along with advanced medical knowledge of new diseases as well as environmental, occupational, and existing diseases. Mortality statistics are only able to be verified from autopsy data because so often statistics are inaccurate with the lack of an autopsy (StГ¶ppler, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Communism Vs Conservativism Over the past couple of years, I have watched numerous political debates, from social issues to economic policies. I have watched debates between the quick speaking Ben Shapiro, and the bullish Cenk Uygur. Cenk always makes a statement, and when given counter evidence, his only reply is Google it . Shapiro throws out three or even four pieces of evidence for every point he makes. When Cenk gets upset, he lashes out at the crowd; Shapiro remains level headed and only attacks the argument. Over spring break, I travelled up to Montgomery, AL, to page in the State House of Representative. During my time as a page, I had the opportunity to meet ten to fifteen representatives, across party lines. I was also able to meet the Speaker of the House, Mac McCutcheon. This experience taught me a lot about the inner workings of the legislative system. Even though different sides have their own opinions, in order to get anything done, compromises have to be reached. When defining conservativism, or any other political mindset for that matter, it is important to first explain the political spectrum. A common misconception is that the two extremes of the political spectrum are Communism (Left) and Fascism (Right).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has been proven during the Reagan and Trump administrations that tax cuts and less regulation makes the economy explode. Attempting to Generate Virus-Like Particles From an Llarvirus Nanotechnology is the control and manipulation of variously sized particles ranging between 1 to 100 nanometers (Doll, Raman, Dey, Burkhard, 2012). Virus and virus like particles, due to their multiple capsid sites, allow for the addition of peptides and the manipulation of their genetic material and protein subunits (Strable Finn, 2009). Scientists, as they learn more about the production and alteration of these particles, have discovered their true chemical flexibility and ability to assemble into useful nanotechnologies. Nanotechnology, the manipulation of matter on the molecular scale, can be applied to numerous scientific fields, such as medicine, surface chemistry, micro fabrication, and organic chemistry (Destito, Schneemann Manchester, 2009). In general, these small sized particles are used to improve the functioning of commercial products and, in the subsection of nanomedicine, are used for therapeutics, tumor targeting, and vaccines (Crisci, BГЎrcena Montoya, 2012). For example, the use of molecular nanotechnology improves vehicle fuel cells and catalytic converters, helps filter wastewater, and strengthens commercial products, such as bowling balls and glue. Dating back to thinkers such as Aristotle, carrying on throughout the medieval period and into modern philosophy, abstracts have always been grappled with. George Berkeley s epistemology about abstract ideas has historically been one that has drawn the attention of many other scholars and philosophical thinkers. His thoughts on ideas, specifically his expansion of Locke s general abstract ideas, are still argued to this very day. His critique of Locke s view of abstract ideas and ideas in general, is successful in refuting his claims, and is validated in the Three Dialogues between Hylas and Philonous, and can be expanded upon in another one of Berkeley s works, A Treatise Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge. Berkeley s work, Three Dialogues between Hylas and Philonous, can be described as a series of dialogues between Hylas and Philonous regarding philosophical issues such as God and materialistic substances as well as ideas. The overall goal of the work was to demonstrate the reality and perfection of human knowledge along with the incorporeal nature of the soul, and the immediate providence of a deity, in opposition to sceptics as well as atheists .(Berkeley, pg xi)Throughout the work, it can be deduced that Philonous represents Berkeley s own point of view regarding the argument at hand, while Hylas represents various opinions that oppose ... By World War II, these states had begun to want independence, and the following decades would witness revolution, regime change, violence, and, ultimately, a break from the grips of the Ottoman Empire and European powers (Provence). Some Jordanians saw the treaty as an indication of further instability rather than development. Teachers Do Not Focus On Phonics Introduction There are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation out there concerning how educators can teach reading, spelling and writing in school classrooms today. A common misconception is that teachers do not focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers do not have any understanding of how to teach phonics. So, what exactly is phonics in education? And, how can educators teach phonics and the appropriate way to interpret or comprehend the written codes found in different words? This essay develops a better understanding of phonics and the various teaching approaches that teachers can use to teach phonics effectively toward enhancing engagement and motivation of student learning. Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and involves an understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is made up of sounds and these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241). Phonics entails phonemic awareness or alphabet knowledge that is, converting various sounds in spoken dialect and representing them in the written language. For children to learn to read and spell using phonics, they must understand the relationship between sounds (phonemes) and letters or letter combinations (graphemes) and then remember the specific letter sequences and patterns used in different speech sounds. Phonics instruction thus focuses on developing the relationship between spoken language and written dialect. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Basic Principles Of Ancient Chinese Philosophy The Chinese region is profound and quite extensive. In Chinese culture and history, Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism seem to blend together. In the Shang Dynasty around 2000 BC, the people of China were polytheistic, worshipping many gods at a time. People of this time worshipped their own ancestors as gods, as they believed they became like gods after dying. The basic principles of ancient Chinese philosophyconsisted of five features: spiritual existence, morality, harmony, intuition, and practice. The philosophies before the Qin era were marked by various ancient philosophical views. Most influential of these views were those of Confucianism, Legalism, Taoism, and Mohism. According to Laurence Thompson, author of Chinese Religion: An Introduction: In China, people did not belong to an institutionalized sect, nor did their religious life have anything to do with signing articles of faint. Religion in China was so woven into the broad fabric of family and social life that there was not even a special word for it until modern times, when one was coined to match the Western term. (Thompson 1) Thus, Chinese religious culture is a profound and deeply intricate part of Chinese life even today. • 23. Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover Love can purely take an over a man, and drive him crazy. Robert Browning, demonstrates Porphyria s Lover as a terrifying love story given from a lunatic s point of view. It is the story of a man who is so obsessed with Porphyria that he decides to keep her for himself. In this poem however, we find that this poem is more than just about a lunatic, and his obsession, but rather find ourselves in the midst of a poem more depth. First, we can see how the role of nature can express the mood of the poem. We find that Browning uses many poetic devices such as imagery, meter and rhyme to give the poem that horrifying, spine chilling feeling. Also how Porphyria s Lover is interesting because of the importance of class and society during the Victorian era. Browning is known for his dramatic monologues, but in this poem, it s the reader s takes ability to make inferences as well as to analyze the speaker s attitude towards Porphyria since he does not give any background information of himself or the women she is obsessed with, Porphyria. The Poem begins with a description of the weather, telling us that it is night, and the rain has just settled in. We know things are soon to change when the poem tells us that the sullen wind was soon awake (Browning 2), then tells us it tore the elm tops down for Spite (3). the storm is being personified with such words as sullen , awake and spite that make it feel that the weather conscious and knows what it is doing. According to Simon Blackburn s theory of Soft Determinism people are responsible for their actions as long as true and available information is possessed. Blackburn s short story revises the compatibilist definition several times. The revised revised definition reads as follows: The subject acted freely if she could have done otherwise in the right sense. This means that she would have done otherwise if she had chosen differently and, under the impact of other true and available thoughts or considerations, she would have chosen differently. I have made many new friends, joined clubs, attended events on campus, and worked out at the gym, but along with all this fun came a lot of stress, hard work, and restless nights. Although I had some rough times, I believe that taking ID 106 provided with me all the information I need to cope when put into these situations and taught me how to avoid being put into stressful situations. Dr. Powell lectured on positive psychology during the first week of ID 106, and I think that overall, this was the most valuable lecture all semester. Coming into college, I knew it would be challenging, but I do not think I realized exactly how challenging it would actually be. Dr. Powell s lecture on hope, resilience, self efficiency, and personal responsibility allowed me to cope in times of struggle. For example, my first college exam was in chemistry. I studied hard for the exam, and I ended up getting a C . I was distraught, but then I remembered back to what I had been taught in ID 106. Instead of moping around and harping on the bad, I decided to look at my test and figure out what I did wrong. That way, I could correct my mistakes next time. The independent variable was the altered plasmids that were placed inside half of the collected bacteria, which contained new genes such as the glow gene (GFP) from Aequorea victoria jellyfish, the switch for the GFP, and/or antibiotic resistance (Ampr). The following dependent variable was then what genes the bacteria expressed after it had either undergone transformation or not, which would be if it glowed or survived exposure to antibiotic. Another independent variable was if the antibiotic Ampicillin or arabinose sugar were present in the petri dish the bacteria were later grown in. • 40. The Effects Of Antibiotic Resistance On Infectious Diseases Introduction Using antibiotics to treat infectious diseases as a result of bacteria has added 20 years to our lifespan, but the rapid emergence of antibiotic resistance is hindering their effectiveness. Cutting edge antibiotics are required, but they have not been developed in the last 25 years (WHO, 2016). One class of antibiotics are beta lactams, which are sub divided into four different groups of antimicrobial agents, as shown in Figure 1. Carbapenems such as imipenem and meropenem are unique because they have a remarkably broad spectrum of activities due to being resistant against hydrolysis by most beta lactamases, which are enzymes that hydrolyse the beta lactam ring in some antibiotics (O Toole, 2013). This gives carbapenems greater success against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. The key difference between these two types of microorganisms is that gram negative bacteria have a double membrane making them more resistant to antibiotics (Kaplan, 2000). For the reasons explained, carbapenems are treated as last line agents or antibiotics of last resort when the health of patients with infections deteriorates or they are hosting resistant bacteria (Papp Wallace, et al, 2011). Gram negative bacteria such as carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) are worthy of being called killer bacteria due to the mortality rate of those infected being as high as 50%. Overuse of carbapenems endangers their vital role in rendering bacteria harmless. Some strains of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story s main characters are husband and wife whose life is in a tangle before they meet their other companion, the bird. The couple is driving in town, torn in deciding how they will use their remaining few dollars. They even contemplate that they will take food and champagne and leave without paying for them. However, before they do this, the bird brings in a new kind of fortune for Lilly. Once she strokes the bird, she feels certain kind of pleasure, which she shares with her husband and many people afterward. The bird can provide them with extra coins, but the story does not end with them staying happily ever after. Lilly eventually confesses to Mort that she thinks that he is angry because a tiny bird could give her the things he could not offer. They almost run into an accident and bitterness of the argument leads them to drive to a new place, Kennecott, where they meet more of the similar birds. The story ends in suspense as we do not know what Lilly and Mort do with the newly found exotic pleasures. The setting of the story contributes to the outlining of the themes in a massive way. This essay examines ways in which the setting relates to the themes of the story. In the story, Peter Carey suggests that capitalism is out of control. This theme is supported by different expressions of the setting in the story. The first setting we experience is a show of modernity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Formal Vs Informal Onboarding The formal and informal onboarding program both send a distinct message to the new hire so it is important to understand the advantages and disadvantages of both. First, informal plans are unstructured and without an explicit plan. An advantage of the informal plan is your company will be able to see right away if the new employee can adjust and learn quickly on their own. It is a sink or swim tactic that puts pressure on the employee to learn quickly without devoting any money or resources to training the new hire. Disadvantages of this approach is that the onboarding is very loose without any support or direction. It does not consider their needs and the process can vary for every new hire because there is not a system that has the steps... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I was Trevor, I would write down what I need Trevor to improve on and set up a meeting to understand why his performance has decreased so significantly. In the meeting, I would first introduce myself and get to know Mark better on a personal level. Next, I would tell him that I have heard great things about what he has done for the company and that I am very glad to be able to work with him. I would then explain how I understand that he is disappointed that his older manager left that was very close to him and his employees. Last, I would explain to him that the success of the company is key to everyone and that his performance needs to improve and if he needs anything from me to let me know. To conclude, I would set up a date soon to get lunch with him personally so a relationship starts to develop between us. This is key because it seems that Mark works best when he has a good relationship with his manager. If Mark s performance doesn t start to improve, we must start looking deeper into the situation and possibly find a replacement for the position. The GROW coaching model is a way to help improve and coach skills that people have identified as necessary to their success. The Case Of The Legal Rights The following case study presents issues related to the legal rights afforded the accused and the reasons those rights are provided to all individuals under our system of criminal justice. John Doe is an individual that left his country in an effort to make a better life for himself. However, he does not have legal status in America and was recently arrested for shoplifting, which was valued over $1,000. At the time of his arrest, John voluntarily began to make incriminating statements to the arresting officers. At the police station, detectives conducted an interview of John asking him about the theft. John Doe has had no prior arrests, is 35 years old, and most of John Doe s family still resides in his home country. Due to the amount of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When John started to utter the self incriminating statements in front of the police officers he was not under any force to make the self incriminating statements. For example, the Court ruled that when a defendant makes an un Mirandized incriminating statement followed by a later Mirandized confession, the subsequent confession should not be excluded from trial (see Oregon v. Elstad, 470 U.S. 298 [1985]). The un Miranda situation was completely legal by the police officers due to the factor that John wasn t being interviewed in the patrol car and at the time of arrest. It is believed by society that the Police must advise Miranda warnings at the time of the arrest. To advise a person of the Miranda warnings there must be a requirement which is when a person is placed in custody which then deprives of his/her freedom in any significant way, the police must advise by given a Miranda warning prior to interrogation of the suspect. (Police Questioning: When Miranda Warnings Are Required, 2010). The requirement for Miranda warning is custody with interrogation voluntary statements are not subject to Miranda warnings, so an officer need not stop a suspect from making incriminating voluntary statements. • 50. Similarities in James ThurberВґs The Dog that Bit People... Mark Twain and James Thurber use conflict and figurative language to develop and enhance their humorous writing. Although conflict can be humorous in itself, the way conflict is presented and the author s tone used with the conflict can greatly increase the humorous effect. Mark Twain s short story, A Toast to the Oldest Inhabitant: The Weather of New England, pokes fun at the uncertainty of New England weather, while Thurber s short story, The Dog That Bit People, explores the adventures of a unique, matchless dog. Both authors have a very relaxed, casual, and sometimes satirical tone. The tone expressed by Twain and Thurber leads to very humorous moods in these two short stories. Along with Twain, Thurber adds hyperboleto his writing: Major Moberly fired at him once with his service revolver near the Seneca Hotel in East Broad Street (526). While people have gotten very angry at Muggs, no policeman has actually ever shot at him. Understatement, speaking of things as if they were less important than they are, is another tool Twain and Thurber use to add humor. You fix up for the drought . . . and ten to one you get drowned. You make up your mind that an earthquake is due . . . and the first thing you know, you get struck by lightning. These are great disappointments (Twain 523). Twain suggests that getting drowned or struck by lightning are just disappointments, while in actuality, these events are catastrophic. Thurber writes, He just bumped you, after Muggs had bitten Mrs. Detweiler (529). Being an example of understatement, getting bit by a dog is actually much worse than just getting bumped. An author s diction can also aid in creating a humorous short story. Mark Twain uses the words sumptuous variety, dazzling uncertainty, peculiar, utterly disproportioned, and bewitching when describing the weather in New England (521 523). These words expand upon the reader s understanding of the uniqueness of the weather, the hyperboles, and the understatements. Similarly, Thurber s unique diction shows with the words he uses to describe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intervention Plans Can Impact Health Care In Many Ways, Intervention plans can impact health care in many ways, but successful plans may provide a benefit to either patients, facilities, or both. Evaluation of an intervention plan is necessary to determine its effectiveness and the value of the intervention s impact in healthcare. In congestive heart failure (CHF) patients engaged through a telehealth program, the effectiveness of the plan revolves around the intervention components. In a small study, symptom data was collected through a web application regarding symptoms of CHF that identified improvement of symptoms through self management (Dorsch, Farris, Bleske, Koelling, 2015). Utilizing the data collected in the telehealth program would provide clinicians with data on weight, blood pressure, medication use and oxygenation (Appendix A). In the CHF telehealth intervention, patients provide self care based on the provider instructions at discharge and through office visits. Studies have shown that self management is a major element of CHF management (Lee, Lennie, Warden, Jacobs Lawson, Moser, 2013). Patient perceived low QOL is a major predictor of mortality and evaluating the CHF telehealth interventions utilizing qualitative survey data will help guide any revisions in the plan of care (Hoekstra et al., 2013). The Minnesota living with heart failure questionnaire (MLHFQ) is a widely used tool in healthcare that assesses the patient s perception of the effects CHF has on their life (Munyombwe et al., 2014). Monitoring telehealth data and QOL survey components would provide data on improvement of CHF care both from a clinical perspective as well as from a patient perspective. • 53. Balanced Scorecards Of Managerial Accounting Balanced Scorecards in Managerial Accounting There is a great deal of struggles Managers face when it comes to accounting related decisions. Financial reports are often conducive in coming up with resolutions regarding company operations, but they don t necessarily contribute to the direct goals and missions of said companies. Individuals such as Nolan Norton and Robert Kaplan were among the first group to recognize the dilemma of solely relying on financial reports and the outcome resulted in what is now known as a balanced scorecard (Bible, Kerr, Zanini, 2006, p. 18). According to Bible, Kerr, and Zanini (2006), Kaplan and Nolan s group: Companies use four common perspectives in their scorecard, supplementing these with a number of customized perspectives as needed. The four perspectives were: financial, customer, internal, and innovation and learning. Each perspective helped answer a basic performance question: How do we look to shareholders? How do customers see us? What must we excel at? Can we improve and create value? (p. 19) This concept was initially summarized in an article in the Harvard Business Review in 1992 followed by two subsequent articles to expand and improve the strategy with the third article setting new standards and encouraging companies from all over to adopt the ideas companies (Bible et al., 2006, p. 19).
