The poem A Certain Lady is consisted of twelve stanzas with two lines in each stanza. Parker uses an
iambic pentameter in this poem. I think that she uses this type of structure to create a rhythmic feel.
Parker wants this rhythmic feel to display how the speaker was talking to her husband. The iambic
pentameter is not relevant in lines twelve and twenty four. These two lines do not follow the iambic
pentameter due to the speaker thinking that her husband will never know how she feels or what she is
doing. This poem consists of an end rhyme and has a rhyme scheme of ABAB. An example of a
rhyme that is used in the poem is in line one, which ends in head and line three which ends in red .
In the poem, you do not obtain a sense of who the speaker is until well into the poem. By just reading
the title I thought that the speaker of the poem would have been a guy talking about a certain lady in
his life that he is in love with. I soon developed a sense of who the real speaker was in line three, in

images of a woman with red lipstick. In my mind, I started to think that the speaker of this story seems

I felt like there was no diversity when it came to the repertoire that the ensembles performed. I bring
this up because I grew up in an environment that is filled to the brim with different cultures and
backgrounds, but the music that the children learn only represents one group. I feel like the town s

immediately become uninterested in music and dislike taking music classes and only a handful of

Art is all around the world and everywhere we go and has been since the beginning of time. Most of
the early artworks was visual arts, such as paintings, sculptures, printmaking and many other things.
The purpose of art is the creative way to express our emotions to empower or inspire people, or it
could bring out different emotions within ourselves, depending on how you look at it. Many of the art
pieces have a story to tell or it can express the state of mind and feeling of the artist when the art was
produced. Art is here today and will be tomorrow as well because art is now a part of our society. For
my three pieces of artworks to write about, I chose an artist that has many art pieces in many galleries.

At the end of World War One in November 1918 the Labour Party emerged as a strong political Party.
Prior to this it was the Liberal Party that was expected to be the main opposition to the Conservatives,
with Labour as a party who used the popularity of the Liberals to become noticed. However, it soon
became apparent that the Liberals were a weak and flagging party who were unable to unite as one to
make decisions. It is evident that the First World War may have been an important factor in the growth
of Labour and the decline of the Liberals.

The Liberals were hesitant to support women s suffrage because it was hard to know whom women
would vote for. Between 1911 and 1914 the Suffragettes became increasingly militant as the Liberals
refused to find parliamentary time to debate the question. The party claimed the issue was a
constitutional not a moral question . The suffragette issue damaged the Liberals as their evident
reluctance to treat it as a matter of belief weakened their moral standing. Their failure to resolve the
issue proved to be a political embarrassment.
Between 1908 and 1914 the position of Trade Unions legally improved, but these years also saw the
most active period of Trade Union action. This included industrial unrest and much strike action. Two
reasons have been given to justify this industrial unrest: syndicalism or a response to the current social
and economic conditions. However, it is possible that the Liberal government were to blame for this
industrial unrest. They were accused of not taking quick enough action to reverse the Osbourne
judgement (where Trade Unions could not ask for a political levy) which was a great embarrassment
to them. The political levy was declared illegal in 1909 after a union used part of the fees to fund the
Labour Party. There was then a feeling that Liberals were determined to undermine the Labour

When asked to define a leader, most would define one by naming traits such as self confidence,
ambition, and determination. Although these are great qualities, this does not define a leader. A leader
is someone in a position of authority who has ability to influence a group through effective
