Risks Of Risk And Risk Assessment
MANAGE RISK RISK ASSESSMENT
RISK ASSESSMENT it includes the following things identification, analysis and evaluation.
a)identification Hazard ID includes figuring out which dangers or dangers are prone to influence
the venture. It includes the recognizable proof of dangers or dangers that may prompt undertaking
yields being deferred or diminished, expenses being progressed or expanded and/or yield quality
(wellness for reason for existing) being lessened or traded off.
For most vast/complex undertakings, various abnormal state dangers ought to have been
recognized amid the task start stage these ought to be utilized as the premise for a more intensive
examination of the dangers confronting the venture This can be done by brainstorm
, studying few business models before the start of venture, having a quick look few risks registers
that are maintained at other sites, and by working and gaining practical experience. b) Analysis and
evaluation When dangers have been recognized they must be examined by deciding how they may
influence the achievement of the venture. By and large the effect of a danger will understand one
or any mix of the accompanying results:
Project results (advantages) are postponed or lessened
Project yield quality is diminished;
Timeframes are expanded;
Costs are increased
When examined, dangers ought to be assessed to focus the probability of a danger or risk being

Balanced Budget Amendment
As we discussed and read about this week in our class, the topic of the US Budget and how, why
and what should we do about it has become a topic with many views and opinions. The United
States of America currently holds over 16 Trillion dollars in debt based on our governments
spending practices for the last ten years. Two wars, numerous fiscal collapses and cliffs, a bubble
popped housing market, looming medical care costs from a socialized healthcare law and a
recession have caused the government to acquire enormous amounts of debt. This debt with caused
by what seems to be from irresponsible spending on both the Legislative and the Executive
Branches have done nothing to lessen this deficit. One idea that has been discussed not only in...

Proponents of these amendments also that running deficits over the long term or persistent deficits
can be dangerous as well. When the government runs persistent deficits , a increasing portion of
consumer s savings is used to purchase government debt instead of being invested in private
capital goods . This is called crowding out , and this effect lower output and incomes in the
future. Growing Federal Debt can lead to a sudden fiscal crisis in and of itself. This type of
crises can occur when debt levels become so large in relation to the economy s output that the
government has difficulty selling it. Current and potential bondholders lose confidence with the
governments ability to repay its debt and refuse to buy anymore. The government is then forced
purchase new debt at higher interest rates, often leading to inflation, reduction in government
services and programs and increased economic hardship on its citizens. There are several good
examples of this type of debt crisis in Argentina, Mexico and Greece. The US saw a version of
this in 2011, when S amp;P concerned with the US climbing debt and its credit worthiness reduced
its credit rating or the ability of the country to borrow money at lower interests rates.
A federal Balanced Budget amendment based loosely on those instituted by the States of this
country has many benefits. One such advantage

The Murder Of Simpson And Simpson
I want to put our family back together. I want our kids to grow up with their parents. I thought I
d be happy raising Sydney and Justin by myself since we didn t see too much of you anyway.
(Simpson). On June 13, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found
murdered outside Brown s Bundy Drive condo in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. Evidence
found and collected at the scene led police to suspect that Simpson was the murderer. (Ferrell).
O.J. Simpson was as charming and deceiving as they come. A true famous figure in the public s
eye has to be calm and collective; however, O.J. s subconscious came out more throughout his
marriage with Nicole Brown Simpson. You beat me up, O.J. I won t live my life wondering where

typically caused by vitamin D deficiency. This disease typically results in bow legs, and O.J. had
to wear braces on his legs. Later on in his teenage years he joined a street gang called the Persian
Warriors and was briefly incarcerated at the San Francisco Youth Guidance Center. (CNN). After
that he came back to attend high school in San Francisco and that s where his football career
began. Without a doubt something everybody knew about Simpson was that he could play
football with the best of them. He was an All American athlete among several other things. He
was named NFL Player of the Year in 1973 and played in six pro bowls. He later was inducted
into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. (Brennan). In the year of 1967 Simpson married his
first wife Marguerite L. Whitley, he was nineteen at the time. Together they had Arnelle L.
Simpson, Jason L. Simpson, and Aaren Lashone Simpson. In August 1979, five months after the
couple divorced, Aaren drowned in the family s swimming pool a month before her second
birthday. (St. Petersburg Times). The beginning of the very famous and mysterious love story
now begins to happen in the year 1977. O.J. met Nicole Brown waiting tables at a little nightclub
called The Daisy . While still being married to his wife Marguerite, he dated Nicole on the side
until their divorce was final. Six years later

The Framers And The Constitution
The Framers chose federalism because they had already tried confederalism under the Articles of
Confederation and had found that it created a central government that was too weak to do what was
needed. They also did not go with a unitary system because people did not trust a central
government because the people had just become free from a centralized British government that
was too oppressive. Also in choosing federalism it prevented against tyranny. The want to split the
power of government so that no level of government could become too powerful was necessary.
Other structures that they could have chosen from are anarchy (lawlessness), authoritarian (state
authority), commonwealth (united by common good), communist (state plans and controls),
confederacy (union of political units or states), dictatorship (single ruler with absolute power),
ecclesiastical (government administrated by a church), monarchy (single absolute ruler with
limited authority), oligarchy (group of individuals authority based on wealth or power),
parliamentary government (government run by executive and legislature branches), socialism
(planning, producing and distributing goods by a central government), and totalitarian (tyrannical).
As written by Chief Justice John Marshall on behave of unanimous opinion of the Court, Marshall
stated first that the Constitution gave Congress the power to make all laws necessary and proper to
carry out the specific powers conferred on Congress in Article I, Section

Analysis Of Bridge To Terabithia By Katherine Paterson
In the literature world today, many books have become banned. Due to inappropriate content,
many people have had books banned in order to remove the books from public schools and
libraries. Bridge to Terabithia, by Katherine Paterson, was removed from public schools because of
the accusations of witchcraft and inappropriate language. On December 1, 1967, the Office for
Intellectual Freedom was created with intent of protecting literary rights (Cho, 1). Enforcing these
rights is another task of this office, including rights that the ALA has established in the Library Bill
of Rights. The Office of Intellectual Freedom full heartedly tries to inform librarians and the
general public about personal intellectual freedoms that they deserve and... Show more content on

This book s setting was in contemporary America (Foerstel, 165). It reflects the life of a family
that is determined not to let its struggles overcome them (Alan, 1). Originally written as a
children s book (Fuller 1), Bridge to Terabithia has two main characters, Jesse Oliver Aarons Jr.,
and Leslie Burke. Jess is the character that comes from a poor background in a household that
doesn t respect him (Paterson, all). Leslie is the more kind character that influences Jess with
her personality, even though she does not believe in churchly teachings. May Bell believes that
Leslie s beliefs will condemn her to hell. Leslie became Jess friend by beating him and his
friends in a footrace (Alan, 1). Jess and Leslie later create their own imaginary world to escape
from reality, named Terabithia. One day, Jess wasn t with Leslie, so she had to go to Terabithia
alone, even though she was scared (Paterson, all). She died attempting to enter Terabithia
because the rope she was using snapped and she fell into the creek and drowned (Alan, 1).
Paterson wrote that Leslie was cremated, although she does not know why (Grogan, 1). When
Leslie died, Jess was with one of his teachers at an art gallery in Washington (Alan 1). This
scared his family because they were afraid that he had been with Leslie and died with her. Jess
was only angry at his family because he could not believe that Leslie was really dead (Paterson,
all). Jess did not come to terms with Leslie s death for a long time (Alan 1). Although, by the end
of the story, he builds an actual bridge to Terabitha for his little sister May Bell to replace Leslie
(Paterson, all). Bridge to Terabithia placed ninth on the American Library Assocation s list of 100
books that had been banned between 1990 and 2000 (Grogan, 1). This book has been on PFAW s
list four times, coming in at 7th, 6th, 8th, and 10th (Alan, 1). It was banned due to promotion of

Hollywood Sexism
Power in Hollywood
Women are more than 50 percent of the population in America. Everyday woman face sexism but,
Hollywood in particular has many cases of misogynism. Despite Hollywood projecting
progressive ideas they severely lack in the sexism part. Misogynist portrayal of women in
Hollywood results from men having the power in Hollywood.
Women are a low percent of those behind the camera. In 2014, a whopping 85 percent of films had
no female directors, 80 percent had no female writers, and one third lacked female producers,
according to a San Diego State University study (Davidson). How can there be strong women
characters if there are not that many women working behind the scenes? With the lack of
women behind the camera, the roles women play are often degrading and sexist. Women are
often portrayed in service jobs such as waitresses instead of in leadership roles. In the top 500
films from 2007 2012, 28.8 percent of women wore sexually revealing clothes while men only
accounted for 7 percent (IndieWire). TV and movies teach girls from a young age that they are
meant to be a wife or homemaker and not much else. It is hard to dream to be a doctor or a CEO
of a big company if you do not see it when you turn on the TV. And it is not that women are not
qualified to work behind the camera, they are just not given the chance. It is hard to change your
portrayal in film and TV if you are not the one writing the characters or directing.

Physics Of Bowling Research Paper
People do not realize that physics consists of everyday things from swimming to walking to even
writing. One great example of an ill observed example of physics is bowling. The way that the
bowling ball is made, the ball is spins, the grip of the ball, the weight, and obviously the way that
the ball is thrown. All of these factors of physicscontribute to the bowling balls movement. The
bowling ball is a great example of everyday physics, but we only see it as a game that we play for
fun. The first factor of the physics of the bowling ball is the interior of the bowling ball. The
bowling ball consists of a hard shell that covers a block that is weighted in the inside of the
bowling ball. The weight inside the block affects the spin and how the ball curves of the bowling
ball and how the bowling ball curves. The block is perfectly symmetric so that the ball can be a
prefect sphere. This block determines the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A bowler should always bowl their ball in a curved path, and not a straight line. The curved path
gives the bowler a far greater chance of getting a strike rather then a bowler that only bowls with
a straight path. The curved path bowler creates greater velocity and friction than the straight path
bowler because of the direction the ball goes. One of the greatest factors of the physics of
bowling is the symmetry of the weighted blocks inside the bowling ball. The bowling ball consists
of perfect symmetry because it makes an even amount of weight on all sides of the ball. The ball
can perfectly be rolled down the lane with the symmetry. The greater this weight is combined with
the amount of force given by the bowler creates the speed of the ball which is a great factor in
bowling. Bowling may be considered as something that we do on a leisurely day, but it really does
contain physics. Physics is in everything, everywhere, everyday. It is a great part of how we

Of Mice And Men Rhetorical Analysis
Through everybody s eyes is their own version of the American Dream. Whether it s the
stereotypical dream with a good job, a family, and a house with a white picket fence, or it could
be just getting by at the end of the month financially. The American Dream doesn t have a specific
image but rather a particular mindset. Lots of people have a goal in their life that they have to
work hard to be successful towards that goal, but in most cases that goal may be unrealistic.
Everybody has a different mindset on how their way of life and what their goals are. In this
generation it is easy to see that people s minds will take them through a journey to achieve their
best way of living. One piece of evidence that points to this is We trample friends, relatives, and
strangers who get in out way of our achieving it; and once we get it we shower it on
psychoanalysts to try to find out why we are unhappy (Steinbeck 2). The author uses the word
trample to demonstrate how we as humans will step on each other to succeed our goals. Trample
gives off a harsh connotation rather than just saying We forget about our friends... . By saying that
it seems as if what we want might not be that important to trample our close ones and even
strangers.Another great piece of evidence that helps supports this is Americans seem to live and
breathe and function by paradox, but in nothing are we so paradoxical as in our passionate belief in
our own myths. (Steinbeck 3) The author uses paradox

Essay on Poetry Is Food for Thought
It is natural for people to believe in many things.
As a child, I thought that eating sweets before going to bed gave you bad dreams.
Also, I just knew Santa Claus was unreal, but the tooth fairy had to be true.
I guess waking up to money under my pillow, but seeing my mom retract her arm from my bed,
should have been the deciding clue.
I even thought fire was the greatest toy invented and so I enjoyed playing with flammable objects
near all the lit candles.
I actually set an apartment on fire and I received a punishment that I didn t think Jesus could handle.

on.
I pulled out this journal that she gave me at our very first hour long session.
I m sure she noticed the spine was broken and as I turned midway in the book I looked up and
stated, The title of this one is: Love is an Undeserving Lesson.
It was as if the room was spinning as I began to read to her from my secret book of poetry.
When I finished, I looked up and waited for a response, but all she did was shed a few tears,
reached out, and hugged me.
I really didn t comprehend what was going on, but this weird feeling took over me and so I began
to cry.
She was the only other person I was able to completely confide in since April of 1995.
This lady, a stranger, had now become my best friend and throughout the years I discovered my
love for poetry, itself, was a rewarding lesson.
Poetry allowed me to love without getting rejected or hurt on many occasions time after time.
I still don t express myself as others do, because it s as if pen and paper are the only ways to give
someone a glimpse into the rawest form of my mind.
I used to believe poetry s is the food of love because of its appetizing meaning to me.
It s the milk of my cereal, the sugar of my tea, the cream of my coffee, the meat of my meals, and
any other comparable treats.
Poetry has been the only way for me to escape this

What Is The Theme Of USup De Des
Un Coup de Des Analysis Extra Credit
In english, Un Coup de Des means the throw of the dice. This poem begins with heavy imagery of a
ship being tossed around in the sea. However, the meaning is something different, not quite as
literal, and the symbolism throughout the poem is what makes this possible.
The ship mentioned in the start of the poem could easily be a symbol for just a simple person being
thrown into the world with endless opportunities, yet still a big shadow or abyss of the scary
unknown is always there to accompany it. The unknown might toss you around like the raging
waves of the ocean in a storm crashing high or might make you feel comfortable in a lul between
waves not knowing what s to come. The next part of the poem, in the line, the Master, beyond

From this portion of the poem it could be argued that it is refering to the time that God was
physically on earth, having the whole world at his feet, literally, then later he dies. However, he
did not just disappear completely because he is still all around in spirit controlling everything.
Next it moves on to speak of a man without a vessel who is empty symbolizing maybe he is
empty because he does not know God, who is a vessekl that could save him the perils of the
storm. In the portion following, the poem talks about a demon in a way that he may not be a
figure as well known as God, but he could be the one responsible for leading the empty men to
the dark side as opposed to helping them overcome it, disguising it as his childlike shade .
However, the statement the veil of illusion proves that this is nothingmore than an illusion and
everything is not as it seems, and this veil will fall and reveal the true evil. The next part of the
poem shifts the mood slightly it takes on a lighter feel. It talks about silence

Specifically, Green did project work for Hiller in the Midwest, solving previously identified

Green was able to see aspects of the business that might be less clear to the manager, who was
occupied with running the entire operation. The short term nature of his project assignments and
their focus on specific problems with everything else removed from consideration allowed Green
the liberty of a broader, big picture perspective. He attributed two previous projects and
experiences to radically shaping his feelings about the business when he entered the Westward. The
first project was a small Chicago hotel in which the employees were considering unionization.
When Green arrived, he found an all white management staff and an almost all black employee
population and no interaction between the two groups. On his first visit, he went to the cafeteria
and listened to employees. Through informal conversations, he learned which issues bothered the
employees. The problems were mostly small things, like the quality of employee meals, that could
easily be remedied. However, the senior management of the hotel was unaware of these employee
issues, because they had separated themselves from employees and formed a tightly knit

Cranial Structure
The primary structure in the cranial cavity is the brain which has a mass around 1300 grams and
make up by approximately 100 billion neurons and 10 to 50 trillion neuroglia in adults (Tortora
and Derrickson, 2011). The weight of the brain increases rapidly during the first four years of life
and reaches the maximum weight around twentieth years (Gallucci et al., 2005). The brainis the
portion of central nervous systemthat act as control center for registering sensation correlated with
one another and with stored information, decision making, and actions. Furthermore, it also acts as
a center for the intellectual, emotions, behavior and memories (Tortora and Derrickson, 2011).
The brain is covered by meninges layers consisting the dura mater, the arachnoid mater and the pia
mater. The dura mater forms the outermost layer of meninges that act as a protective and
supportive if the brain. While the arachnoid mater and the pia mater form the middle and the
innermost layer of meninges respectively. Furthermore, the subarachnoid space lies between the
arachnoid and pia mater responsible for circulation of cerebrospinal fluid and contains most of

gifted scientists working at Caltech. I will be analyzing the communication issues that Sheldon
Cooper, a revered physicist faces on a day to day basis. It is safe to say that every character has
been frustrated with Sheldon at one point or another mainly down to his style of communication.
Being extremely gifted and unexposed to various groups of people, Sheldon s communication
style has been a difficult one for friends and strangers to get used to. Sheldon isn t rude or difficult

scenarios that makes him socially awkward. However, with the ... Show more content on

This shows that Sheldon is not constructing his dispositions on cold hard facts, but rather
because he feels superior through the groups he belongs to. On countless occasions Sheldon can
be caught making fun of his friend Howard who is an engineer from MIT, Penny who is a simple
waitress at the Cheesecake Factory and other colleagues from his workplace. However, upon
meeting Amy, Sheldon begins to transition from his predisposed mindset to a more accepting
one. This can be attributed to Sheldon altering his spiritual self and finally knocking down
barriers that were due to association by similarity (Adler, 6). At first, Sheldon only wanted to
communicate with people like himself because his attitudes reflected that anyone unlike him
was unworthy. However, through interacting with Amy, her influence of biology (which he
previously determined as a worthless field) accompanied by her choice of friends (Bernadette
and Penny) creates a major impact on Sheldon. He becomes able to speak with people unlike
himself and portray respect for their field, even if deep down he doesn t care. Being able to
present a social self that displays respect even if your beliefs are different shows that you are in
control of your communication and dialogue. That may seem like very little progress however,

United States And The First International War
There have been several wars within countries itself and across the world, but there has only
been one World War I or what some people may call The First International War. This war had
pitted the central powers of countries against each other causing alliances to form and having an
unbelievable amount of manpower need to fight over the years of 1914 to 1918. Most people
around my age do not know anything about this war due to the fact that it possibly has not been
taught to them. However, the war consumed so many people in it because it was so violent. It
damaged those who were involved because there was no sight of the end after the first few months
it began. Also, not all of the world s major powers joined right away. The United States... Show

as Serbia and Russia who were quick to jump aboard for each other and support the cause for

coming, Austro Hungary plan to declare war but, had to wait on the Germany to give an assurance
of support. In addition, there was the development of Britain prior to war of taking down the
communication of their enemies to have an advantage:
British officials developed plans to wage information warfare prior to 1914. Members of the British
government charged with contemplating the defense of the empire studied international
communications in 1891, in 1898, and again in 1911. They examined how to protect imperial
communications and how to destroy enemy submarine telegraph cable connections in wartime.
(Winkler 848) With including that information some can say that all war tactics were not about
manpower or firepower but, to temporally take away the communication of their enemy especial
Germany. Then it happened, on July 28, Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia and within a
week, Russia, Belgium, France, Great Britain and Serbia had lined up against Austria Hungary and
Germany, and World War Ihad begun World War I History . When war was first started The Battle

ground. I believe if you continue to find better health care programs, different stock and retirement
plans and be able to match the employees, provide everyone with time off and career development.
People always want to know how they can move up in a company. How the company is willing to
support them in moving up and learning more information. Also how the company give back to
their associates, families and the communities. That has become something that people look at
because they want to know how that company will give back to those that help them to stay in
businessand continue to do business with them. So if a company keep these key things in mind they
will not have problems recruiting people, hiring them and retaining them once they have been hired.

that I would recommend for improvement is include contact information if there is someone that

The Importance Of Nursing Leadership
Nursing guidance is a complex but essential part of the nursing workforce. Guidance can come in
the form of management and in the form of leadership. The two terms are often used
interchangeably, but do not always mean the same thing. The nurse manager is often someone who
has authority from the facility to be in management. The nursing leader may not have authority over
other nurses, but may be a strong guide in the workplace for other nurses and nursing staff. Nursing
as a profession is ever changing and increasingly challenging. Nurse managers are tasked with an
enormous variety of functions in their respective workplaces, budgeting, scheduling, hiring,
disciplinary actions, implementing facility policies and procedures, and the... Show more content on

While patient care is at the center of what nurse leaders do as well, the help and support they
give their fellow nurses is very important. Nurse leaders are the background to the nursing care.
Effective nurse leaders can promote a positive workforce and a healthy work place for other
nurses. Workplace dynamics is an essential part of how each nurse functions. Nurses, being
mentally and physically stressed, need to have support and guidance from a nurse leader to feel
confident about performance. The impact of nursing leaders can be a positive and guiding
force for the younger or more inexperienced nurse. Having strong relationships with solid leaders
can instill values in the beginning stages of a newer nurses career. Gaining insight and core
concepts from a more experienced leader can make a world of difference in the way a new nurse
performs, provides patient care, and sets future goals for themselves. A newer nurse with a
positive role model and nurse leader can model themselves to become a leader for future nurses.
Future nurses and the future of the nursing practice can positively benefit from having a revolving
new nurse nurse leader cycle. With a profession as dynamic as nursing, the involvement of positive
leaders and role models is essential for the practice to grow and inspire a nursing force that not only
adapts and changes with the profession, but leads and strives for promoting the improvement

At T With Documentary And Videos Featuring Real Life...
AT T encourages drivers of any age to sign the campaign s pledge and commit themselves to
ending the texting and driving habit once and for all. After a driver signs the pledge on the It
Can Wait website, they are prompted to share it with friends on social media such as Facebook
or Twitter. By sharing the campaign with others, the campaign has created a community of
people who are committed to driving safely not only for themselves but for the sake of everyone
around them (AT T It Can Wait). By prompting those who sign the pledge to share with their
friends on social media, the campaign launches itself towards achieving its second goal in
creating awareness of the problem. AT T partnered with filmmaker Werner Herzdog to develop a
documentary and videos featuring real life stories of people who have lost loved ones or even
had their own lives change dramatically due to texting and driving (AT T It Can Wait). One
particular video called Close To Home really emphasizes the impact that texting and driving can
have on not only the individuals involved but society as a whole. Although the video was only
four minutes long, it took the time at the beginning to allow the viewer to understand the
characters and their roles in society. They used people of a variety of demographics so that the
video would hit close to home with everyone. The beginning of the video was slow it showed
people doing mundane everyday activities. The video almost seemed relaxed because it

The Impact Of Technology On Society Today
There is no doubt that technology plays a big role in society today. Whether people like it or not,
one thing is definite: technology is not going anywhere. Having grown up in the midst of the
digital revolution, technology was going to be a part of my life, and it most definitely has. No
matter if it is the Internet, computers, cell phones, tablets, video games; I have been exposed to all
of them. However, of all the pieces of technologyI have used, the one I cannot live without would
have to be my laptop. This year has opened my eyes to how important it is to have a nice laptop.
Whether I am taking notes in class, doing research online, typing a paper, surfing the web, or
Skyping my family back home, I am always using my laptop. Sure, I still use my cell phone a
lot, but I honestly do not use social media on it as I used to. So really the main purposes for my
cell phone are what they should be for; making phone calls and sending texts. If I did not have a
laptop, it would make going to school more challenging, I would spend much more time at the
library using their computers and could not enjoy lying in bed watching my favorite show on
Netflix. Of course I could handle not having a laptop. However, after completing my first year
away at school, my eyes have been opened to the importance of having one, and I have seen how
dependent I am on mine. I use the technology I use because it makes my life easier, simpler, and
more efficient. I also use technology because it

Lab Report On Enzyme Activity
The purpose of this lab is to observe the catalase found in liver cells by measuring how temperature,
pH and enzyme concentrations affect the reaction rates of enzymes.
Background
Enzymes are considered to be biological catalysts meaning they can speed up a chemical reaction
in a cell without being used up in the process. Enzymes do this by lowering the amount of energy
needed to activate the process. The lower the activation energy, the faster the reaction. Without
enzymes, vital life processes would occur very slowly which could be deadly.
Different enzymes are used depending on the chemical process. Some enzymes break down
harmful, poisonous chemicals in our bodies into harmless substances. In this lab, the enzyme we

PROCEDURE
Part A: Add a small piece of liver to 2 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. After the reaction
occurs, pour the liquid into a different test tube and add another piece of liver into the liquid.
Observe the reaction. Then add 2 ml of hydrogen peroxide to the first test tube.
B: Place 2 ml of hydrogen peroxide into 2 test tubes. Add potato into one test tube and a piece of
apple into the other and observe the reactions.
C: 1. Place a piece a liver into a clean test tube and cover it with a small amount of water. Place the
test tube into a boiling water bath for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, remove the test tube, let it cool,
then pour out the water. Add 2 ml of hydrogen peroxide.
2. Place equal amounts of liver into 2 clean test tubes and add 1 ml of hydrogen peroxide into 2
other test tubes. Place one test tube of liver and one of the hydrogen peroxide into an ice bath. Put
the other 2 test tubes into a warm bath. After 3 minutes, pour each test tube of hydrogen peroxide
into the corresponding tube of liver.
D: Add 2 ml of hydrogen peroxide into 5 test tubes, then add:
First test tube: 3 drops of HCL
2: 3 drops of diluted HCL
3: 3 drops of NaoH
4: 3 drops of diluted NaOH
5: 3 drops of H2O
Add liver to all 5 test tubes at the same time, and observe the reaction rate for the acidic, neutral and
basic solutions. (Figure this out with pH paper)

Singapore is governed by a parliamentary republic with The Constitution of Singapore as their

emotions can affect your life and how we should allow emotions to overcome us. But also be

The Rich and Long Deaf Culture and History
Deaf culture and history is one that is rich and long. Deaf History The first mention of a deaf
person, which was written in history, appeared in the Torah and was named Chushim
(Nomeland, 2012, p. 6). Before this, no other person had been recorded in written history as
being deaf. In 1000 B.C., The Hebrews views the deaf and other disabled people as being a part
of life . They were not considered ignorant and often were well respected. Although they were not
shunned and some were respected, the deaf did not have as many rights as hearing individuals.
For example, they could not own property and some could not marry. They also weren t
permitted to fully participate in rituals. From 427 B.C until at least the Middle Ages, those who
were deaf were treated poorly. It was believed that without speech there was no intelligence.
Therefore the deaf were not capable of intelligence or ideas. Aristotle believed that because the
deaf could not hear, they could not reason and were viewed as barbarians. He thought that
learning was impossible without hearing. Parents were told that their children were born deaf
because God was punishing them for their sins. Deaf were committed to insane asylums because
they were accused of being possessed by demons (Shaner, 2008). It wasn t until the 1500s that the
deaf began to be recognized as something other than ignorant or sinful. An Italian physician named
Geronimo Cardano was the first to recognize that the deaf were able to reason and

The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright
The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright
Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed
by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and
pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the
superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to
subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that
criminal sanctions against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self
organize. I conclude with the claim that the entangled framework provides for better analysis than
the tradition additive political economy framework because copyright does not work to control the
outcome of the system and correct for the market failure associated with creative goods, rather it
influences specific nodes in the entangled system in particular ways. KEYWORDS: Copyright,

How Does The Amount Of These Muscle Enzymes And Muscle...
Introduction Humans have two distinct types of muscle, type I and type II. Type I is considered
slow, oxidative, and is used more commonly for endurance activities. Type II is considered fast,
glycolytic and even oxidative, but it is used more for sprint related activities. In addition,
phosphorylase, lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) are skeletal
muscleenzymes along with myosin ATP, NADII2, tetrazolium reducatse, and alpha
gycerophosphate dehydrogenase help determine the muscle types based on these measurements.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the study is to measure the amount of these skeletal muscle enzymes and muscle
fiber composition of track and field athletes compared to untrained subjects.
Methods The experiment consists of testing maximum VO2 uptake for the subjects to measure
their caliber of training, whether the subjects had no training for a few years or those who have
been participating in intense exercise. Also, each subject had a muscle sample of his or her
gastrocnemius (lateral head) taken by a needle biopsy technique.
a)Subjects: The experiment consisted of 34 men and 27 women and were measured in which 23 of
the men and 17 of the women were highly trained, internationally competitive track athletes. Within
the track and field athlete category, this consisted of sprint runners, middle distance runners,
distance runners, long high jumpers, javelin throwers, and shot put/discus throwers. These track

The Benefits Of A Single Stage To Orbit
A Single Stage to Orbit (SSTO) spaceplane would have many advantages over current methods of
getting people and equipment into space. Chief among these is major cost reduction. SSTOs
would be fully reusable, being that they are meant to send people to space and bring them back. A
fully reusable single stage space plane would have an advantage over a fully reusable rocket
booster, similar to what was used on the shuttle, and what is being used as the first stage on
SpaceX s Falcon 9. In fact, the Falcon 9 has already started to pay off to SpaceX. According to an
article from SpaceNews.com, the President of SpaceX, Gwynne Shotwell, reported that a rocket

There is a challenge for TSTOs to overcome: air friction being directed on the vehicle from its
booster, while separating. The paper Aeroheating Characteristics for a Two Stage To Orbit Concept
During Separation at Mach 6 , investigates the issue. This study looked into the aeroheating on two
crafts when separating so one can make it into space, while the other, the first stage, returns to land.
The study found that in the small scale test conducted that there were not much negative effects of
heating from friction on one craft to the other. This would appear to be a positive development for
the TSTO community as it is possible to get a craft into space by attaching it to another.
As is seen in Investigation of Two Stage to Orbit Airbreathing Launch Vehicle Conп¬
Ѓgurations ,
there are many possible configurations for a TSTO. The kind this paper explored most was the
booster craft had the orbiter attacked on top of it, similar to how NASA transported the Shuttles on
top of a modified 747. Aeroheating Characteristics for a Two Stage To Orbit Concept During
Separation at Mach 6 shows the characteristics of aeroheating during the separation of the top
bottom configuration. The paper showed that it is possible for the top bottom configuration, and
that the aerodynamic forces from the two vehicles won t negatively affect each other.

Summary Of Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress
In the novel, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai Sijie, it can be observed that
through another character s perspective as well as their own, Luo and the Seamstress
relationship is less than ideal and what once may have been a whimsical experience would soon
fall from its glorious state. A big indicator of the relationship issues is the Old Miller s point of
view, him being unbiased and just an observer. His use of imagery may symbolize more than
what initially meets the eye, so to speak. The Old Miller relates the Seamstress to a swallow, her
arms as wings and he shows her flying through the air with the other birds, this could show many
different things but to tie all this together it would be best to say that this shows that the Old
Miller sees the Seamstress as a free living and elegant being. He shows her flying above her
surroundings and that seemingly depicts her as a celestial being, above(or better than) this
world in which this takes place. This is contradictory to how the Old Miller views Luo. The
Miller briefly goes over Luo while calling part of him shrunken, and depicting him falling asleep.
At first glance the shrunken comment was very accurate but it may also be to show how much
of opposites Luo and the Seamstress are, what with the Seamstress flying with the birds and Luo
laying on the shore, shrunken. The Old Miller also tells how the Seamstress falls into the water,
her wings, extended, did not fold until she touched the surface of the water and plummeted into
the depths , this not only shows that she can jump into a pool of water but also may give an
unintended representation of the relationship between Luo and the Seamstress. Although this
would be beyond the Miller s knowledge it is possible that Sijie intended this, the Seamstress
being the bird, being swallowed by the water, surrounded in it s embrace. Moreover Luo is
controlling the Seamstress in ways that are unconventional to a good relationship, he trains her to
be civilized and won t let her be herself, sounds like he s enveloping her into his world, much like
the water envelops the Seamstress into itself and pulls her to the depths. The Miller s overseeing
eye may provide an

The Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Rhetorical...
In chapter seven of the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass is finally aware of
his approximate age, and is burdened with the thought of being a slave for life. At the age of 12,
it is not very encouraging to be given the description of a slave for life. Douglass uses his
newfound reading and writing skills to cleverly comprehend the book The Columbian Orator, and
the speeches from the Catholic emancipation it contains, in his favor. The book Douglass discovers
does a good job of supporting his invalidation of slaveryas well as providing him with knowledge
and reasonable arguments. The most interesting part about Douglass encounter with The
Columbian Orator is the personal context he takes it in. He reads the dialogue between the master
and his slave, and applies it to his own life. Douglass is both fascinated and fueled by what the
context of the dialogue has to offer, the intelligence of the slave in it, and the result of the
conversation between the two characters. After having run away and been recaptured three separate
times, the master in the text emancipated the slave. The drive Douglass had most likely came from
the shocking result of the voluntary emancipation of the slave on the part of the master. ... Show

Rhode Island s Public Policy Guidelines Essay
Abstract
Rhode Islands Future has been established to resolve Rhode Island s need to address the issues of a
failing elementary and secondary education system. Currently, Rhode Island students are being
outperformed by Massachusetts students on national tests. Although Rhode Island and
Massachusetts spend about the same on public education per student. Differences are identified in
the management of the schools and the degree of state influence. The main issues focused in this
research will be on examining and determining if Rhode Island should adopt more of the
management and governance models that Massachusetts uses, which could open the door for
empowered schools in Rhode Island. Proposed public policy guidelines, best practices, evaluations
on potential educational funding, cost benefit analysis, and risks will be analyzed. Finally, this
report will look into what possible recommendations could be made from the outcome of this
research.
Introduction
Focusing on Rhode Island s future, which encompasses the education of our youth is a continuing
topic of discussion. However, it is emphasized when neighboring states are outperforming Rhode
Island s public school children. Complicating the issue is the performance of Rhode Island public
school children fall near or even slightly below the national average on several standardized tests.

Comparsion of Passages in the Book of Ezekial and the Book...
This term paper will attempt to compare specific biblical passages from the book of Ezekiel to
specific passages in the book of Revelation. These passages are comparable due to their similar
use of language, visions, and symbolism. The book of Ezekiel was written by the prophet Ezekiel
who was a priest. The New American Standard Study Bible suggests this book was written
approximately between 597 586 B.C. It is generally divided into three sections following the
introduction. The first section, chapters 4 24, discusses the judgment on the nation of Judah. The
second section, chapters 25 32, expresses judgment on the surrounding nations. The third section,
chapters 33 48, encompasses the future blessing of Gods Covenant People.... Show more content on

The prophet Ezekiel mentions he was among the exiles. The word exile in Hebrew is Gola which
can also mean captivity, exile, or captives (Barnes Notes, 1997). I, John, your brother and fellow
partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island
called Patmos, because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.(Rev. 1:9) While analyzing
the verse, we learn that John the Apostle is undergoing tribulation for testifying his faith. The
Greek word Thlibo connotes anguish, persecution, and trouble (Strongs Numbers and
Concordance with Greek and Hebrew Dictionary, 1994). According to Barnes notes of the PC
Study Bible, ancient documents state that the apostle was cast into boiling oil in Rome but was
not injured. Following this punishment Domitian exiled him to the Island of Patmos in 94 A.D.
Patmos was a small island between Icaria and Promontory of Miletus, and was a place where
ancient Rome sent their exiles. John was sent to this island for preaching the gospel and giving
the testimony of Jesus. Testimony or Arturia in Greek means to witness (Fosset, 1998). Ezekiel
and John were thus both traditionally seen as exiles. Ezekiel was exiled because he was taken
captive by the Babylonians. This is referenced in 2 Kings 24:15.
So he led Jehoiachin away into exile to Babylon; also the king s mother and the king s

Matchlocks In Japan
Not long after, news about the weapon began to spread towards other parts of Japan. In 1545 the
lord of Bungo on Kyushu, called Otomo Yoshiaki heard about the weapon and requested a
demonstrating of the musket (Lidin 2002, 6). Otomo also became impressed by the power of the
weapon and as a result, muskets were included on its military arsenal. However, the gunwas
presented with some technical problems, which was not reliable to be used in the wars. One of
those problems was that it could not perform properly in rain. But the Japanese generals soon
were able to find a solution for it, even before the Portuguese generals (Perrin 1979, 17). They
created a sequential firing technique in order to accelerate the flow of the bullets. Also, to increase...

But it had also changed the ways wars were conducted, as with the advance and power of guns,
old styles of weapons were being slowly abandoned. In 1549 Oda Nobunaga, the military Lord,
who with the successor of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, was successfully able to unified Japan under
one strong central government (Brown 1948, 238). Requested an order of five hundred
matchlocks to gunsmiths called Kunitomo (Brown 1948, 238). In 1575, in the battle of
Nagashino, Nobunaga had an army of approximately 70,000 men, and 3,000 of them were
equipped with matchlocks (Brown 1948, 238). Its army was a combination of swords and guns,
as at that time they could effectively build tactics using both. Thus, the use of firearms was
quickly spread. In 1582 by the time of Nobunaga death, possibly one third of Japans soldiers,
who were leaded by military barons, were equipped with firearms (Brown 1948, 238). Also, the
victories earned at the begging of the Korean invasion, were largely due to the fact that the
Japanese army were equipped with muskets, while the Korean didn t acquire these types of
weapons (Brown 1948). The three unifier of Japan Nobunaga, Hideyoshi and Leyasu made an
extensive use of guns in their battles. Therefore, it can be said that guns played a key role in the
unification of Japan as well as in the 1592 1598 invasions of Koreans (Brown

Zeus plans to take revenge on man and orders to make a woman. All the gods agreed and each

throughout the story. Olivia E. Coolidge uses personification by stating The lid flew up out of her
hands and knocked her aside, while before her frightened eyes, dreadful, shadowy shapes flew out
of the box in an endless stream. (https://online.vitalsource.com/#/books/9781256493914/) We

The UFC will storm into Detroit on Saturday with one of the best fight cards of the year. The
main event will be a rematch for the featherweight title between former champion Jose Aldo and
current champ Max Holloway. After weathering an early storm, Holloway proved his resiliency
and dominated Aldo to win the title at UFC 212 in June by third round TKO in front of the
former champ s home crowd in Brazil. At just 25 years old, Holloway continues to improve with
every fight. The champion is riding an 11 fight win streak with his last loss coming in 2013 to
lightweight champion Conor McGregor by unanimous decision. During his streak, Holloway has
defeated the likes of Aldo, Cub Swanson, Jeremy Stephens, Ricardo Lamas and Anthony Pettis....

The fight will be on a bit of short notice for Aldo, as he ll have to end his training camp two
weeks early. He was initially training for a rematch with Ricardo Lamas in December, so this
won t be similar to other short notice circumstances we ve seen in the past. Aldo has never lost a
rematch in his career, but this will be his first coming off of a loss. Co main event The co main
event of the evening will be a heavyweight showdown between former title challenger and No. 1
ranked Alistair Overeem taking on No. 4 Francis Ngannou. Some believe this fight will be a title
eliminator with the winner earning the right to challenge champion Stipe Miocic. After
unsuccessfully challenging Miocic for the title at UFC 203 last September, Overeem has won two
straight fights. He defeated Mark Hunt and Fabricio Werdum, respectively, en route to Saturday s
matchup with Ngannou. Overeem is one of the most dedicated strikers in the history of the
heavyweight division, but he ll face a fighter with devastating power of his own this weekend.

Valdez is best known as the founding director of El Teatro Campesino, a seminal grassroots
theater group initially formed to convince California migrant farmworkers of the value of

his highly vivid style and his ability to place the Chicano experience within a universal American
framework. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION Born into a family of migrant farmworkers in
Delano, California, Valdez began working in the fields at six years of age. Although his education
was frequently interrupted by his family s constant travel, Valdez finished high school and
subsequently attended San Jose State College. After graduating in 1964 Valdez joined the San
Francisco Mime Troupe, from which he gained an appreciation of agitprop theater, which makes
use of political agitation and propaganda to protest social injustice. Valdez returned to Delano in
1965 to assist CГ©sar ChГЎvez and the United Farmworkers Union in their efforts to unionize
migrant workers. There Valdez organized the strikers into a performing group to dramatize the

simply GAAP, are accounting rules used to prepare, present, and report financial statements for a
wide variety of entities, including publicly traded and privately held companies, non profit
organizations, and governments. Generally GAAP includes local applicable Accounting

should be enough to make a judgment while keeping costs reasonable. Information is presented in

When recalling completing the census for 2010; there were many questions on health and
smoking. It left a question as to how this data would be used. In more recent times there has
appeared to be an increase in surveys from medical, corporations, and sales. All of the data
gathered is used to assess how they are doing and are needs being met, the same is true for health
assessments.
Disadvantages and Benefits One of the big disadvantages is the potential for misuse of the
information. An example of misuse is the Breach of HIPAA policies. While working in the
military health environment in Spain, there were many times that someone I knew socially was a
patient in the clinic. One such encounter netted a good friend s whose husband was treated for an
STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) and was prompted to notify all his sexual partners. His wife
did not come in for a visit; which caused a moral dilemma, questioning what to do; I spoke with the
treating physician and voiced my concerns. The physician took charge and the appropriate action
was completed, thereby avoiding a HIPAA violation. In the wrong hands medical information can
be abused. The stringent punishment for HIPPA violations has curtailed the misuse of information
and limited the public outcries for help. According to the AMA a person can be charged with both

An analysis of Schools of Psychotherapy as they relate to Anger Management
Anger is a basic human emotion that transcends cultural boundaries. However, despite its
universality, an exact definition agreed upon by all people is lacking (Norcross Kobayashi, 1999).
Physiologically, brain centers in the amygdala are connected to anger processing. Because the
information processing that takes place in this brain structure is primitive, anger can be triggered
inappropriately and without the individual s knowledge of the cause. In psychodynamic terms, past
events and experiences suppressed in the unconscious can be the source of generated anger. In
cognitive behavioral terms, anger is described as an interaction of behavior, cognition, and ... Show

However, by exploring the various characteristics of the different schools of psychotherapy,
similarities and compatibilities become apparent, which can lead to a more integrative and eclectic
approach to anger management.
The Psychodynamic Approach
The psychodynamic approach can be traced to Sigmund Freud in the late 19th century and the early
part of the 20th century. He first concentrated on a cathartic method to release repressed emotions
associated with past experiences and then began to focus on a free association method and the
development of transference (Messer, 2001). Underlying the psychoanalytic perspective is the idea
of the unconscious. The unconscious is where past experiences and true emotions are hidden.
Manifestation of an undesirable trait, such as anger, along with excessive use of defense
mechanisms lead to the assumption of a deeper conflict hidden within the unconscious.
Psychodynamic techniques try to gain access to the unconscious and make the patient aware of the
underlying conflict (Phares and Trull, 2001). Among the emphases of psychodynamic therapy are a
focus on the evocation and expression of emotion to uncover the patient s unconscious issues, the
importance of emotional insight in which the patient can experience and comfortably understand
his emotion, a concentration on a

The Role Of Xenia In The Odyssey

in the past lived by this principle. They would feed them, bath them, house them, and treat them as
if they were related. As time shifts on society change as well as people change. People now
would never let strangers into their house or anywhere remotely on it. It would seem incongruous
if a person let a stranger into their house. It may seem like an odd thing these days It is the

The Emotional And Personal Theme Of Abortion By Gwendolyn...
The Mother is a poem about abortion by Gwendolyn Brooks. This poem is an emotional and

knows the circumstances a mother may be in, that she chose abortion as an option. Analyzing this
poem can help women cope if they experienced an abortion, help with the options of many women
experiencing a pregnancy, and encourage young girls to always protect themselves if they choose
to be sexually active. Ultimately, this poem s message can help reduce and impact current
societal ills, such as, suicide rates, depression, high school dropouts, and teenage pregnancy.

  • 3. Balanced Budget Amendment As we discussed and read about this week in our class, the topic of the US Budget and how, why and what should we do about it has become a topic with many views and opinions. The United States of America currently holds over 16 Trillion dollars in debt based on our governments spending practices for the last ten years. Two wars, numerous fiscal collapses and cliffs, a bubble popped housing market, looming medical care costs from a socialized healthcare law and a recession have caused the government to acquire enormous amounts of debt. This debt with caused by what seems to be from irresponsible spending on both the Legislative and the Executive Branches have done nothing to lessen this deficit. One idea that has been discussed not only in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Proponents of these amendments also that running deficits over the long term or persistent deficits can be dangerous as well. When the government runs persistent deficits , a increasing portion of consumer s savings is used to purchase government debt instead of being invested in private capital goods . This is called crowding out , and this effect lower output and incomes in the future. Growing Federal Debt can lead to a sudden fiscal crisis in and of itself. This type of crises can occur when debt levels become so large in relation to the economy s output that the government has difficulty selling it. Current and potential bondholders lose confidence with the governments ability to repay its debt and refuse to buy anymore. The government is then forced purchase new debt at higher interest rates, often leading to inflation, reduction in government services and programs and increased economic hardship on its citizens. There are several good examples of this type of debt crisis in Argentina, Mexico and Greece. The US saw a version of this in 2011, when S amp;P concerned with the US climbing debt and its credit worthiness reduced its credit rating or the ability of the country to borrow money at lower interests rates. A federal Balanced Budget amendment based loosely on those instituted by the States of this country has many benefits. One such advantage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Murder Of Simpson And Simpson I want to put our family back together. I want our kids to grow up with their parents. I thought I d be happy raising Sydney and Justin by myself since we didn t see too much of you anyway. (Simpson). On June 13, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found murdered outside Brown s Bundy Drive condo in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. Evidence found and collected at the scene led police to suspect that Simpson was the murderer. (Ferrell). O.J. Simpson was as charming and deceiving as they come. Up until the age of five Simpson developed rickets, which is a disease in children typically caused by vitamin D deficiency. This disease typically results in bow legs, and O.J. had to wear braces on his legs. Later on in his teenage years he joined a street gang called the Persian Warriors and was briefly incarcerated at the San Francisco Youth Guidance Center. (CNN). After that he came back to attend high school in San Francisco and that s where his football career began. Without a doubt something everybody knew about Simpson was that he could play football with the best of them. He was an All American athlete among several other things. He was named NFL Player of the Year in 1973 and played in six pro bowls. He later was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. (Brennan). In the year of 1967 Simpson married his first wife Marguerite L. Whitley, he was nineteen at the time. Together they had Arnelle L. Simpson, Jason L. Simpson, and Aaren Lashone Simpson. In August 1979, five months after the couple divorced, Aaren drowned in the family s swimming pool a month before her second birthday. (St. Petersburg Times). The beginning of the very famous and mysterious love story now begins to happen in the year 1977. O.J. met Nicole Brown waiting tables at a little nightclub called The Daisy . • 5. The Framers And The Constitution The Framers chose federalism because they had already tried confederalism under the Articles of Confederation and had found that it created a central government that was too weak to do what was needed. They also did not go with a unitary system because people did not trust a central government because the people had just become free from a centralized British government that was too oppressive. Also in choosing federalism it prevented against tyranny. The want to split the power of government so that no level of government could become too powerful was necessary. Other structures that they could have chosen from are anarchy (lawlessness), authoritarian (state authority), commonwealth (united by common good), communist (state plans and controls), confederacy (union of political units or states), dictatorship (single ruler with absolute power), ecclesiastical (government administrated by a church), monarchy (single absolute ruler with limited authority), oligarchy (group of individuals authority based on wealth or power), parliamentary government (government run by executive and legislature branches), socialism (planning, producing and distributing goods by a central government), and totalitarian (tyrannical). As written by Chief Justice John Marshall on behave of unanimous opinion of the Court, Marshall stated first that the Constitution gave Congress the power to make all laws necessary and proper to carry out the specific powers conferred on Congress in Article I, Section ... • 6. Analysis Of Bridge To Terabithia By Katherine Paterson In the literature world today, many books have become banned. Due to inappropriate content, many people have had books banned in order to remove the books from public schools and libraries. Bridge to Terabithia, by Katherine Paterson, was removed from public schools because of the accusations of witchcraft and inappropriate language. On December 1, 1967, the Office for Intellectual Freedom was created with intent of protecting literary rights (Cho, 1). Enforcing these rights is another task of this office, including rights that the ALA has established in the Library Bill of Rights. The Office of Intellectual Freedom full heartedly tries to inform librarians and the general public about personal intellectual freedoms that they deserve and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This book s setting was in contemporary America (Foerstel, 165). It reflects the life of a family that is determined not to let its struggles overcome them (Alan, 1). Originally written as a children s book (Fuller 1), Bridge to Terabithia has two main characters, Jesse Oliver Aarons Jr., and Leslie Burke. Jess is the character that comes from a poor background in a household that doesn t respect him (Paterson, all). Leslie is the more kind character that influences Jess with her personality, even though she does not believe in churchly teachings. May Bell believes that Leslie s beliefs will condemn her to hell. Leslie became Jess friend by beating him and his friends in a footrace (Alan, 1). Jess and Leslie later create their own imaginary world to escape from reality, named Terabithia. One day, Jess wasn t with Leslie, so she had to go to Terabithia alone, even though she was scared (Paterson, all). She died attempting to enter Terabithia because the rope she was using snapped and she fell into the creek and drowned (Alan, 1). Paterson wrote that Leslie was cremated, although she does not know why (Grogan, 1). When Leslie died, Jess was with one of his teachers at an art gallery in Washington (Alan 1). This scared his family because they were afraid that he had been with Leslie and died with her. Jess was only angry at his family because he could not believe that Leslie was really dead (Paterson, all). Jess did not come to terms with Leslie s death for a long time (Alan 1). Although, by the end of the story, he builds an actual bridge to Terabitha for his little sister May Bell to replace Leslie (Paterson, all). Bridge to Terabithia placed ninth on the American Library Assocation s list of 100 books that had been banned between 1990 and 2000 (Grogan, 1). • 8. Hollywood Sexism Power in Hollywood Women are more than 50 percent of the population in America. Everyday woman face sexism but, Hollywood in particular has many cases of misogynism. Despite Hollywood projecting progressive ideas they severely lack in the sexism part. Misogynist portrayal of women in Hollywood results from men having the power in Hollywood. Women are a low percent of those behind the camera. In 2014, a whopping 85 percent of films had no female directors, 80 percent had no female writers, and one third lacked female producers, according to a San Diego State University study (Davidson). How can there be strong women characters if there are not that many women working behind the scenes? With the lack of women behind the camera, the roles women play are often degrading and sexist. Women are often portrayed in service jobs such as waitresses instead of in leadership roles. In the top 500 films from 2007 2012, 28.8 percent of women wore sexually revealing clothes while men only accounted for 7 percent (IndieWire). TV and movies teach girls from a young age that they are meant to be a wife or homemaker and not much else. It is hard to dream to be a doctor or a CEO of a big company if you do not see it when you turn on the TV. And it is not that women are not qualified to work behind the camera, they are just not given the chance. It is hard to change your portrayal in film and TV if you are not the one writing the characters or directing. Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Scandal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Physics Of Bowling Research Paper People do not realize that physics consists of everyday things from swimming to walking to even writing. One great example of an ill observed example of physics is bowling. The way that the bowling ball is made, the ball is spins, the grip of the ball, the weight, and obviously the way that the ball is thrown. All of these factors of physicscontribute to the bowling balls movement. The bowling ball is a great example of everyday physics, but we only see it as a game that we play for fun. The first factor of the physics of the bowling ball is the interior of the bowling ball. The bowling ball consists of a hard shell that covers a block that is weighted in the inside of the bowling ball. The weight inside the block affects the spin and how the ball curves of the bowling ball and how the bowling ball curves. The block is perfectly symmetric so that the ball can be a prefect sphere. This block determines the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A bowler should always bowl their ball in a curved path, and not a straight line. The curved path gives the bowler a far greater chance of getting a strike rather then a bowler that only bowls with a straight path. The curved path bowler creates greater velocity and friction than the straight path bowler because of the direction the ball goes. One of the greatest factors of the physics of bowling is the symmetry of the weighted blocks inside the bowling ball. The bowling ball consists of perfect symmetry because it makes an even amount of weight on all sides of the ball. The ball can perfectly be rolled down the lane with the symmetry. The greater this weight is combined with the amount of force given by the bowler creates the speed of the ball which is a great factor in bowling. Bowling may be considered as something that we do on a leisurely day, but it really does contain physics. Physics is in everything, everywhere, everyday. It is a great part of how we ... • 10. Of Mice And Men Rhetorical Analysis Through everybody s eyes is their own version of the American Dream. Whether it s the stereotypical dream with a good job, a family, and a house with a white picket fence, or it could be just getting by at the end of the month financially. The American Dream doesn t have a specific image but rather a particular mindset. Lots of people have a goal in their life that they have to work hard to be successful towards that goal, but in most cases that goal may be unrealistic. Everybody has a different mindset on how their way of life and what their goals are. In this generation it is easy to see that people s minds will take them through a journey to achieve their best way of living. One piece of evidence that points to this is We trample friends, relatives, and strangers who get in out way of our achieving it; and once we get it we shower it on psychoanalysts to try to find out why we are unhappy (Steinbeck 2). The author uses the word trample to demonstrate how we as humans will step on each other to succeed our goals. Trample gives off a harsh connotation rather than just saying We forget about our friends... . By saying that it seems as if what we want might not be that important to trample our close ones and even strangers.Another great piece of evidence that helps supports this is Americans seem to live and breathe and function by paradox, but in nothing are we so paradoxical as in our passionate belief in our own myths. • 11. Essay on Poetry Is Food for Thought It is natural for people to believe in many things. As a child, I thought that eating sweets before going to bed gave you bad dreams. Also, I just knew Santa Claus was unreal, but the tooth fairy had to be true. I guess waking up to money under my pillow, but seeing my mom retract her arm from my bed, should have been the deciding clue. I even thought fire was the greatest toy invented and so I enjoyed playing with flammable objects near all the lit candles. I actually set an apartment on fire and I received a punishment that I didn t think Jesus could handle. Staying to myself a lot caused me to be behind in the learning curve on how to express my feelings. I mean, I had friends but I was always in my own little world and didn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I finally reached down in my backpack and told her there was something that I needed her advice on. I pulled out this journal that she gave me at our very first hour long session. I m sure she noticed the spine was broken and as I turned midway in the book I looked up and stated, The title of this one is: Love is an Undeserving Lesson. It was as if the room was spinning as I began to read to her from my secret book of poetry. When I finished, I looked up and waited for a response, but all she did was shed a few tears, reached out, and hugged me. I really didn t comprehend what was going on, but this weird feeling took over me and so I began to cry. She was the only other person I was able to completely confide in since April of 1995. This lady, a stranger, had now become my best friend and throughout the years I discovered my love for poetry, itself, was a rewarding lesson. Poetry allowed me to love without getting rejected or hurt on many occasions time after time. I still don t express myself as others do, because it s as if pen and paper are the only ways to give someone a glimpse into the rawest form of my mind. I used to believe poetry s is the food of love because of its appetizing meaning to me. It s the milk of my cereal, the sugar of my tea, the cream of my coffee, the meat of my meals, and any other comparable treats. Poetry has been the only way for me to escape this ... • 13. What Is The Theme Of USup De Des Un Coup de Des Analysis Extra Credit In english, Un Coup de Des means the throw of the dice. This poem begins with heavy imagery of a ship being tossed around in the sea. However, the meaning is something different, not quite as literal, and the symbolism throughout the poem is what makes this possible. The ship mentioned in the start of the poem could easily be a symbol for just a simple person being thrown into the world with endless opportunities, yet still a big shadow or abyss of the scary unknown is always there to accompany it. The unknown might toss you around like the raging waves of the ocean in a storm crashing high or might make you feel comfortable in a lul between waves not knowing what s to come. From this portion of the poem it could be argued that it is refering to the time that God was physically on earth, having the whole world at his feet, literally, then later he dies. However, he did not just disappear completely because he is still all around in spirit controlling everything. Next it moves on to speak of a man without a vessel who is empty symbolizing maybe he is empty because he does not know God, who is a vessekl that could save him the perils of the storm. In the portion following, the poem talks about a demon in a way that he may not be a figure as well known as God, but he could be the one responsible for leading the empty men to the dark side as opposed to helping them overcome it, disguising it as his childlike shade . However, the statement the veil of illusion proves that this is nothingmore than an illusion and everything is not as it seems, and this veil will fall and reveal the true evil. Specifically, Green did project work for Hiller in the Midwest, solving previously identified business problems. Project work gave him an opportunity to view an operation from a very different vantage point from when he was a GM. Being removed from the day to day operation, Green was able to see aspects of the business that might be less clear to the manager, who was occupied with running the entire operation. The short term nature of his project assignments and their focus on specific problems with everything else removed from consideration allowed Green the liberty of a broader, big picture perspective. He attributed two previous projects and experiences to radically shaping his feelings about the business when he entered the Westward. The first project was a small Chicago hotel in which the employees were considering unionization. When Green arrived, he found an all white management staff and an almost all black employee population and no interaction between the two groups. Cranial Structure The primary structure in the cranial cavity is the brain which has a mass around 1300 grams and make up by approximately 100 billion neurons and 10 to 50 trillion neuroglia in adults (Tortora and Derrickson, 2011). The weight of the brain increases rapidly during the first four years of life and reaches the maximum weight around twentieth years (Gallucci et al., 2005). The brainis the portion of central nervous systemthat act as control center for registering sensation correlated with one another and with stored information, decision making, and actions. Furthermore, it also acts as a center for the intellectual, emotions, behavior and memories (Tortora and Derrickson, 2011). The brain is covered by meninges layers consisting the dura mater, the arachnoid mater and the pia mater. The dura mater forms the outermost layer of meninges that act as a protective and supportive if the brain. While the arachnoid mater and the pia mater form the middle and the innermost layer of meninges respectively. • 16. The Big Bang Theory By Sheldon Cooper Appendix: I will be analyzing The Big Bang Theory, a popular TV show which features the lives of four gifted scientists working at Caltech. I will be analyzing the communication issues that Sheldon Cooper, a revered physicist faces on a day to day basis. It is safe to say that every character has been frustrated with Sheldon at one point or another mainly down to his style of communication. Being extremely gifted and unexposed to various groups of people, Sheldon s communication style has been a difficult one for friends and strangers to get used to. Sheldon isn t rude or difficult to deal with on purpose. It is due to his lack of experience with human interaction in different scenarios that makes him socially awkward. However, with the ... On countless occasions Sheldon can be caught making fun of his friend Howard who is an engineer from MIT, Penny who is a simple waitress at the Cheesecake Factory and other colleagues from his workplace. However, upon meeting Amy, Sheldon begins to transition from his predisposed mindset to a more accepting one. This can be attributed to Sheldon altering his spiritual self and finally knocking down barriers that were due to association by similarity (Adler, 6). At first, Sheldon only wanted to communicate with people like himself because his attitudes reflected that anyone unlike him was unworthy. However, through interacting with Amy, her influence of biology (which he previously determined as a worthless field) accompanied by her choice of friends (Bernadette and Penny) creates a major impact on Sheldon. He becomes able to speak with people unlike himself and portray respect for their field, even if deep down he doesn t care. Most people around my age do not know anything about this war due to the fact that it possibly has not been taught to them. However, the war consumed so many people in it because it was so violent. In addition, there was the development of Britain prior to war of taking down the communication of their enemies to have an advantage: British officials developed plans to wage information warfare prior to 1914. Deaf History The first mention of a deaf person, which was written in history, appeared in the Torah and was named Chushim (Nomeland, 2012, p. 6). Before this, no other person had been recorded in written history as being deaf. In 1000 B.C., The Hebrews views the deaf and other disabled people as being a part of life . They were not considered ignorant and often were well respected. Although they were not shunned and some were respected, the deaf did not have as many rights as hearing individuals. For example, they could not own property and some could not marry. They also weren t permitted to fully participate in rituals. From 427 B.C until at least the Middle Ages, those who were deaf were treated poorly. It was believed that without speech there was no intelligence. Therefore the deaf were not capable of intelligence or ideas. Aristotle believed that because the deaf could not hear, they could not reason and were viewed as barbarians. He thought that learning was impossible without hearing. Parents were told that their children were born deaf because God was punishing them for their sins. Deaf were committed to insane asylums because they were accused of being possessed by demons (Shaner, 2008). • 28. The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that criminal sanctions against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self organize. I conclude with the claim that the entangled framework provides for better analysis than the tradition additive political economy framework because copyright does not work to control the outcome of the system and correct for the market failure associated with creative goods, rather it influences specific nodes in the entangled system in particular ways. Summary Of Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress In the novel, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai Sijie, it can be observed that through another character s perspective as well as their own, Luo and the Seamstress relationship is less than ideal and what once may have been a whimsical experience would soon fall from its glorious state. A big indicator of the relationship issues is the Old Miller s point of view, him being unbiased and just an observer. His use of imagery may symbolize more than what initially meets the eye, so to speak. The Old Miller relates the Seamstress to a swallow, her arms as wings and he shows her flying through the air with the other birds, this could show many different things but to tie all this together it would be best to say that this shows that the Old Miller sees the Seamstress as a free living and elegant being. He shows her flying above her surroundings and that seemingly depicts her as a celestial being, above(or better than) this world in which this takes place. This is contradictory to how the Old Miller views Luo. The Miller briefly goes over Luo while calling part of him shrunken, and depicting him falling asleep. At first glance the shrunken comment was very accurate but it may also be to show how much of opposites Luo and the Seamstress are, what with the Seamstress flying with the birds and Luo laying on the shore, shrunken. The Old Miller also tells how the Seamstress falls into the water, her wings, extended, did not fold until she touched the surface of the water and plummeted into the depths , this not only shows that she can jump into a pool of water but also may give an unintended representation of the relationship between Luo and the Seamstress. Although this would be beyond the Miller s knowledge it is possible that Sijie intended this, the Seamstress being the bird, being swallowed by the water, surrounded in it s embrace. Moreover Luo is controlling the Seamstress in ways that are unconventional to a good relationship, he trains her to be civilized and won t let her be herself, sounds like he s enveloping her into his world, much like the water envelops the Seamstress into itself and pulls her to the depths. In chapter seven of the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass is finally aware of his approximate age, and is burdened with the thought of being a slave for life. At the age of 12, it is not very encouraging to be given the description of a slave for life. Douglass uses his newfound reading and writing skills to cleverly comprehend the book The Columbian Orator, and the speeches from the Catholic emancipation it contains, in his favor. The book Douglass discovers does a good job of supporting his invalidation of slaveryas well as providing him with knowledge and reasonable arguments. The most interesting part about Douglass encounter with The Columbian Orator is the personal context he takes it in. He reads the dialogue between the master and his slave, and applies it to his own life. Douglass is both fascinated and fueled by what the context of the dialogue has to offer, the intelligence of the slave in it, and the result of the conversation between the two characters. • 36. Comparsion of Passages in the Book of Ezekial and the Book... This term paper will attempt to compare specific biblical passages from the book of Ezekiel to specific passages in the book of Revelation. These passages are comparable due to their similar use of language, visions, and symbolism. The book of Ezekiel was written by the prophet Ezekiel who was a priest. The New American Standard Study Bible suggests this book was written approximately between 597 586 B.C. It is generally divided into three sections following the introduction. The first section, chapters 4 24, discusses the judgment on the nation of Judah. The second section, chapters 25 32, expresses judgment on the surrounding nations. The third section, chapters 33 48, encompasses the future blessing of Gods Covenant People.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prophet Ezekiel mentions he was among the exiles. The word exile in Hebrew is Gola which can also mean captivity, exile, or captives (Barnes Notes, 1997). I, John, your brother and fellow partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos, because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.(Rev. 1:9) While analyzing the verse, we learn that John the Apostle is undergoing tribulation for testifying his faith. The Greek word Thlibo connotes anguish, persecution, and trouble (Strongs Numbers and Concordance with Greek and Hebrew Dictionary, 1994). According to Barnes notes of the PC Study Bible, ancient documents state that the apostle was cast into boiling oil in Rome but was not injured. Following this punishment Domitian exiled him to the Island of Patmos in 94 A.D. Patmos was a small island between Icaria and Promontory of Miletus, and was a place where ancient Rome sent their exiles. John was sent to this island for preaching the gospel and giving the testimony of Jesus. Testimony or Arturia in Greek means to witness (Fosset, 1998). Ezekiel and John were thus both traditionally seen as exiles. Ezekiel was exiled because he was taken captive by the Babylonians. This is referenced in 2 Kings 24:15. But it had also changed the ways wars were conducted, as with the advance and power of guns, old styles of weapons were being slowly abandoned. In 1549 Oda Nobunaga, the military Lord, who with the successor of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, was successfully able to unified Japan under one strong central government (Brown 1948, 238). Requested an order of five hundred matchlocks to gunsmiths called Kunitomo (Brown 1948, 238). In 1575, in the battle of Nagashino, Nobunaga had an army of approximately 70,000 men, and 3,000 of them were equipped with matchlocks (Brown 1948, 238). Its army was a combination of swords and guns, as at that time they could effectively build tactics using both. Thus, the use of firearms was quickly spread. In 1582 by the time of Nobunaga death, possibly one third of Japans soldiers, who were leaded by military barons, were equipped with firearms (Brown 1948, 238). Also, the victories earned at the begging of the Korean invasion, were largely due to the fact that the Japanese army were equipped with muskets, while the Korean didn t acquire these types of weapons (Brown 1948). The three unifier of Japan Nobunaga, Hideyoshi and Leyasu made an extensive use of guns in their battles. He first concentrated on a cathartic method to release repressed emotions associated with past experiences and then began to focus on a free association method and the development of transference (Messer, 2001). Underlying the psychoanalytic perspective is the idea of the unconscious. The unconscious is where past experiences and true emotions are hidden. Manifestation of an undesirable trait, such as anger, along with excessive use of defense mechanisms lead to the assumption of a deeper conflict hidden within the unconscious. Psychodynamic techniques try to gain access to the unconscious and make the patient aware of the underlying conflict (Phares and Trull, 2001).
