Defining Characteristics Of The 12 Step Approach
Introduction A brief overview of the defining characteristics of the 12 step approach (Baldwin et al.,
2011, Bateson, 1971, Jellinek, 1960, Lacan and Miller, 1998, Raikhel and Garriott, 2013, Schenker,
2009, University of Chester, 2016, Wilcox, 1998) with particular focus on its definition (NCCMH,
2008) and UK based studies (Best et al., 2001, Day et al., 2005, Harris et al., 2003) recognising the
translatability of the 12 steps relating to higher power and personal responsibility (Appendix 1, p.11)
create tensions for client/patient engagement (Best et al., 2001, Harris et al., 2003) and
staff/professional referral (Day et al., 2005). A commissioned report by National Collaborating Centre
for Mental Health (NCCMH, 2008) by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and
a recent 8 year review of the aforementioned (NICE, 2016) inform current NICE guidelines including
referrals to 12 step (NICE, 2007). The current evidence base (NCCMH, 2008) uses a systematic
review of the literature (McAuliffe, 1990, Etheridge et al., 1999, Moos et al., 1999, Fiorentine and
Hillhouse, 2000, Toumbourou et al., 2002, Weiss et al., 2005, Timko et al., 2006). An 8 year review of
the evidence (NICE, 2016) finds no new evidence to warrant evolving the existing guideline,
providing supporting evidence and emerging evidence to inform the current guidelines (Johnson et al.,
2006, Kelly et al., 2010, Laudet et al., 2006, McKellar et al., 2009, Timko and DeBenedetti, 2007). A

A Brief Note On Biotechnology And Its Effects On...
ation: Biotechnology Using Plants to Reverse the Effects of Environmental Problems.
Introduction
In the last century the population has increased by 6 billion and by 2050 is expected to reach 8 Billion,
this coupled with global industrialisation has placed huge stresses on the environment, affecting
sustainability and causing buildups of organic and inorganic contaminants throughout the biosphere,
most notably in the rhizosphere (Ward Singh, 2004). Phytoremediation coming from the Greek word
phyto, meaning plant and the latin remediare, meaning to remedy is a term first coined by Dr. Ilya
Raskin in 1991 terming the use of vascular plants, fungi and algae in either the control of waste, the

John F Kennedy Jfk Evaluation
Evaluation Of JFK
Through out the course of history, America has seen great Presidents. These men all exhibited
characteristics which helped them to be successful in their endeavor to become the nations leader.
Among those characteristics are traits such as being a good spokesperson or leader and being fair
towards all which makes for a good President.
As President, one must make numerous speeches. Someone who has a phobia of making speeches in
front of a large group of people, may find this job difficult. Remaining composed and in control of the

John F. Kennedy may me most memorable for with eloquent speeches. He was a good spokesperson,
proving himself right off the bat with his inaugural address in 1961. These speeches instilled support
and confidence in the hearts of those who listened. One can see how these feelings might come about
in this quote by the President in 1963. quot; What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana
enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not a peace of the grave or the security of the
slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the
kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope to build a better life for their children not
merely peace for Americans, but peace for all men and women: not merely peace in our time, but
peace for all time. quot;
President Kennedy was a natural leader. This was noted by Admiral W.F. Halsey. Saying, quot; His
courage, endurance, and excellent leadership contributed to the saving of several lives and was in
keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. quot; Referring to an incident
that earned him a purple heart, in which the future President swam four miles while towing an injured
crewman, the Admiral said this in his part.
More proof of the Presidents leadership skills can be noted in his Aeronautical motives. As

When Worlds Collide Essay
In the film When Worlds Collide , the answer to the question How did the American Indigenous
populations impact Spain (and vice versa)? was focused on the changes in wealth, class systems, and
the Spanish conquistadors intentions. The first topic covered in the film is how today s America and
today s world are heavily influenced by the culture, heritage, and history of the Mestizo race and their
Spanish counterparts. The video then explains that the Mestizo race came into existence after the
Spaniards had children with the Natives of the New World . Next, the film highlights the differences
between the cultures of the Spanish and the native indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica. One of the
differences between the two cultures was that the Mesoamericans had a close relationship with nature,
and it was that relationship that enabled them to discover things like the ... Show more content on

Queen Isabella of Spain had intended for her men to convert the natives patiently, and she wished for
them to be treated well, however, the opportunity for wealth and power that overtook the holy mission
of the Spaniards. A few Spanish scholars kept written accounts of the injustices that the natives came
to suffer under the rule of the Spaniards, and the written pleas for the Spanish monarchs to enact laws
to protect the natives went through, but were ignored by new Spanish royalty years later. This was the
case for the mining of the silver mines, because the Spanish ruler (at the time of the discovery of the
mines), decided that the natives would have to mine due to the Spanish and the Africans inability to
brave the harsh terrain, despite the previous laws that forbode the Spanish from using the natives as
slave laborers. Unfortunately for the lower classes of natives, the Spaniards did get their silver and the

HIV Alliance Report
This summer I had the opportunity to complete my practicum in Eugene, Oregon at HIV Alliance. The
HIV Alliance is a passionate 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 1994, with a mission of
both supporting and empowering people living with HIV and preventing new HIV infections. Initially
the organization focused solely on Lane County, Oregon. However, over the years, the structure and
funding around HIV changed. This change resulted in the expansion of services to include eleven
counties in Oregon: Lane, Douglas, Josephine, Lake, Klamath, Jackson, Coos, Curry, Lincoln, Clatsop
and Marion. HIV Alliance serves the community through a diverse spectrum of initiatives. The overall

Parenting Reflection
Becoming a more competent communicator and disciplinarian, without escalating conflict is what I
am working on, specifically with my five teenage children, ages 17, 15, 14, 14 and 14. After my
divorce, my children were beginning to exhibit at risk behaviors, such as sneaking out of the home,
disregarding family rules and expectations with regard to homework, chores and their overall safety.
Eventually a friend who is employed with the Department of Children and Family Services referred
me to Youth Services. This resulted in attending weekly classes for ten weeks aimed at reducing
conflict and finding new ways to communicate with my children. The class is structured around the
peer reviewed research of the same name, Strengthening Families, and provides an atmosphere for me
to work with youth counselors who actively assist me in changing my parenting style to adopt a more
collaborative approach.
Through my research and attendance of the Strengthening Families classes, it became glaringly
obvious that the approach I was taking to parenting, was not successful. One of my discoveries
through this project is that overall, my children respond better to a collaborative approach and it is
more meaningful to hold them accountable for their actions when we have all decided ahead of time
what those consequences will be. While I have five children left in my home, I have an older son who
is married and on his own, I have been parenting one way for a very long time and I found changing

Explain How A Business User Could Be Involved In The Core...
Close involvement of a business user from the beginning of information systems development has the
potential to produce a better outcome for both the organization and the developer. In this essay I will
explain how a business user could be involved in the core activities of building an information system.
Additionally, I will analyze how software development methodologies can work in tandem with
project management for the benefit of both information systems development projects and the
organization. Finally, I will evaluate how project managers and IT managers can ensure that
information system development projects are in alignment with business strategies and goals.
Business User Involved in Core Activities There are six core ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By being a part of this phase the business user can provide inputs that in the end will make the system
an overall better product and more user friendly to those who will actually be required to operate the
system (Grevendok, 2013). The third phase of the system development process is the programming
phase. During this stage system specifications that were prepared during the design stage are
translated into software program code (Laudon, Laudon, 2016). The business user plays a vital role in
this stage because it is in this stage that the software will be either developed or purchased from an
outside vendor (Hsu, Lin, Zheng Hung, 2011). Ensuring that the software aligns with the new
requirements is vital to the long term success of the information system.
The fourth stage of the system development process is the testing phase. During this phase exhaustive
and complete testing must be accomplished to ensure that the new system produces the expected
results (Laudon, Laudon, 2016). The business user s involvement in this process can be utilized by
trying to make the new system fail in order to fix any major or minor problem that may arise down the
road (Laudon, Laudon, 2016).
The fifth stage of the system development process is the conversion phase. It is during this phase
where the process of changing from the old system to the new system happens (Laudon,

Movie Special Effects
Special effects play a huge role in the film making and the movie industry. It has transformed
throughout the years from silent films to huge explosions and animated characters. I agree that without
special effects, the viewers would lose concentration and the story line would be lost. I personally
enjoy movies with effects because it creates something more than just a movie. It gives you a chance
to become engaged and the ability to feel as if you are with the characters and their experiences
throughout the movie. Special effects would not be where they are today without the help of advanced
technology such as the computer. From past films to present, you can see the transformation in the
effects by the use of animated characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As time continues and evolves, movie lovers standards change as well. In order to keep up with their
needs, movie producers need to contribute and exceed their boundaries as well. Each movie that is
produced to the public has raised the bar more and more. I like how you added the 3D effect because
this has emerged from special effects and gives the audience an experience like no other. I saw the
movie Space and I have never seen a movie like it. The whole movie took place in outer space and
showed the difficulties within the spaceship. The story line was intense and left you on the edge of
your seat, but what really made it stand out was the use of 3D imagery. It definetly showed me a
different side to movies and was left wanting to see more films like that. It is truly amazing to see the
work produced by film makers and producers. It is an art that is constantly growing and improving to
give the audience a movie experience they will never forget. Agreed that without special effects,
movies would not be the same. Special effects have become a necessity in the movie industry and has
left us wanting more. In the future, I too see a huge a breakthrough and we will witness incredible
movies made with advanced special

Review Of Eat Mor Chikin
A Chik Fil A Located In Vail
Eat Mor Chikin! Shouts this fast food chain s mascot. The Chik Fil A mascot may not be well

new american classic. The Chik Fil A restaurants are one of the most popular eating establishments in
America. People of all ages enjoy their food but people in Vail, Arizona are feeling left out of this
delicious picture.
History of Chik Fil A In 1951, S. Truett Cathy made an outstanding discovery. After fifteen years of
being in the greasy fast food business he found a pressure fryer that could cook a delicious chicken
sandwich in the same time as it would a hamburger patty (Chik Fil A.com). Cathy loved it. He decided

sandwiches, Cathy came up with the slogan, We did not invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich.
Believe it or not Chik Fil A is half a century old. The first ever to open was at Greenbriar Mall in
Atlanta. Throughout the seventies and eighties this franchise expanded their business by opening new
restaurants in mall food courts. Finally in 1986 Chik Fil A opened their very first ever freestanding
restaurant. Now as of 2015 there at approximately 1,900 locations in forty two states (Chik Fil

How St Clare Of Assisi Changed Society And The Catholic...
Good morning Mr Campbell and class today I will be talking about how St Clare of a Assisi is a
radical reformer and how she changed society and the Catholic Church
Biography
Chiara Offreduccio born on July 16, 1194 Assisi, Italy. St Clare of Assisi being her name now due to
her being canonized in 1255, was born into a wealthy family that own a house on the top of the hill in
Assisi. Clare being the eldest sister she followed by example by the teaching of Jesus. We believe that
when Clare was little she would have be able to hear and see the mass from her room as she not able
to go to mass therefore she is called the patron saint of television. On palm Sunday 1212 St Clare of
Assisi ran to Rome with St Francis Xavier to preach the word of the Lord and the Order of Poor
Ladies, a group of poor women that dedicated their life to God and wanted to be recognised to the
Catholic Church. St Clare of Assisi died August 11 1253, feast day on August 11 each year.

St Clare of Assisi is called a radical reformer, therefore her actions and the challenges that she has
faced in her life has had a impact to society and the Catholic Church. Back then society was very
sexist. For example women were not allowed to enter events or do anything without permission from
the husband, St Clare of Assisi believed that all people should be allowed in the Catholic Church
therefore she went off to Rome and created the Order of Poor Ladies. Many people believed that
women were supposed to stay and home and do household jobs and this made a drastic turn for
society and the Catholic Church. One of the hardest hurdles that she had to overcome was changing
the public perception on the role of women in society. Fortunately she had St Francis Xavier on her
side and soon enough people agreed and this lead to one of the biggest changes in the Catholic

Roosevelt s Fair Essay
Objective: I m going to go to Roosevelt s Row, one of the more popular destinations. I want to observe
the kinds of people that go to this event, plus the kinds of people who set up stalls there and the art
they sell/what they advertise or do. I ll take notes on my phone as I walk around. Results: The artists
included painters, sculptors, dancers, etc. There were also quite a few people there on behalf of
organizations, like one against animal cruelty and one to help sea turtles. The artists seemed to be
more diverse than the walkers, but only by a little bit. The walkers looked like people you d see at a
fair, minus the children. For most this seemed like a special outing, so they were well dressed, with
their significant other, etc. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was especially surprising seeing the salwar kameez, because I usually only saw that at the mosque,
and rarely outside of it. I think the art walk is a good place to express yourself fully, since there are so
many other things going on it wouldn t seem weird like it would in other places. I also saw this in the
demographic differences, since, like I mentioned in the observation notes, most of the walkers were
well dressed young white women, some with their boyfriends, some with a few other friends. So those
who looked alternative seemed most at home; others were there in passing, observing the culture,
enjoying the music and perusing the art. As someone who didn t grow up anywhere near any kind of
bustling city center, even the observers and the observed seemed similar, in that they were at home in
downtown Phoenix. A lot of people knew exactly how to get around and navigate from stop to stop.
The older folks on my shuttle had been to a few art walks, too. This event seemed like a pretty good
reflection of the art communities I d encountered or heard of before: lots of young artists, pop culture,
immigrants using and selling crafts/talents they d learned in places other than America or from
cultures other than white/American (like the women selling henna, or the man selling sugar skull

What Does Bob Euwell Symbolize In To Kill A Mockingbird
Birds, in itself, is thought out to naturally be an animal of peace and prosperity. They are symbolic
creatures to many. However, one bird in particular brings joy and music to all, and that is the
Mockingbird. This bird in particular is mentioned many times throughout Harper Lee s novel, To Kill
a Mockingbird. The Mockingbird is a type of unique, songbird. These birds copy a tune, and soon
enough those birds all start to copy each other, or mock . These birds only bring harmony and peace,
which is why it is said to be a sin if you were to kill one. The same way birds can bring harmony and
peace, humans can also cause either peace or destruction. Three characters who are a symbol of a

Summertime when the trial was happening, it felt like to Tom that all the light left his life, because he
knew once an African American man is convicted of such a crime, the result will not turn out good on
his part. And the sky fall could only bring the rain , This described when the trial came, Tom didn t see
any light at all, and could suggest he possibly became depressed. I never meant to cry, started losing
hope , Tom started to lose hope that he would see his family ever again. You re an angel, tell me you re
never leaving , This line describes Atticus, who bravely stood up for Tom in the trial, unlike most
white men would do. These lyrics fit with
Atticus and Tom perfectly, because they both worked together and tried their best to make the
Jury a little more lenient on Tom. Unfortunately, that didn t happen, and Tom soon gained his real
wings, just like a Mockingbird, shortly after.

Human Resource Policies And Human Resources
Human resources policies are at the heart of every business but when companies deviate from those
policies or create a culture of their own polices that can be a recipe for disaster. Having strong human
resource policies can distinguish companies from the rest and set them out to be the best but in the
case of the following companies human resource policies we either neglected or altered and it cost the
company more in the end. The nature of business is to make money and the policies set forth by
human resources are the ethical guidelines that enable companies to accomplish that with respect to
the financial world that they are involved. I will look into the policies and see whether they were a
sound from the beginning or whether the policies were doomed from the start. I will see whether the
policies had any ethical merits and how this was overlooked it there was a good foundation. I will look
into some problems with human resource policies then I will go over companies polices that caused a
near bankruptcy and a company policy that caused a complete failure.
The Risky Business of Human Resource Policies The foundation of any business starts with its
policies and if that foundation is not build with strong ethical policies then the business will likely fail.
The human resource department of a company has to maintain polices on how employees should
conduct themselves and some policies encourage growth and strength within the company and

How Did Jazz Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement
Jazz and Civil Rights : Hand In Hand
Jazz contributed to the civil rights movement by allowing people to listen to African American
opinions through musical beats and lyrics. Giving the world a new wide spectrum from what they
were listening to before.
The current definition of jazz is American music developed from ragtime and blues. In some ways
blues and jazz go hand in hand. These types of music emerged in the Deep American South around the
end of the 19th century, spread north and formed various sub genres. Jazz and blues are connected by
their influence from African beats and culture to traditional African American work songs. These
rhythmic a cappella work songs originated with agricultural slaves, from synchronizing physical

The History of Jazz
The Jazz Age was a post World War I movement in the 1920 s, from which jazz music and dance
emerged. Although the era ended with the beginning of The Great Depression in 1929, Jazz has lived
on in American pop culture. Later on in time jazz was brought back by mostly African Americans. In
New Orleans during the late 19th century, brass marching bands gave lengthy performances during
funerals and parades this is one way jazz was used to express others emotions . Musicians had grown
bored and begin to improvise, using the syncopated rhythms of African American vocal music into
traditional military tunes. The way Jazz got around was by musicians being able to move state by state
to perform. The music eventually spread north, taking root and evolving in cities such as Chicago and
New York City. With a wide range of audience jazz came to be one of the most popular musical genres
in America. The term jazz or jass derives from a Creole word that means both African dance and
copulation. Also The term jazz referring to peppy dance music first appeared in a March 1913 edition

In the the Jungle the author Upton Sinclair uses ethos, pathos and imagery to expose the meat packing

The first pathos the rhetorical device responsible for getting people into their feeling more than in

people who were enemies of the Aztecs such as the Tlaxcalans in order to defeat them and take
Tenochtitlan (1). Following the Spanish Conquest, the Aztecs and Tlaxcalans had aligned themselves
with the Spaniards. Thus, most explorations were undertaken jointly with the Spanish leaders and
Indian warriors (2). A clear example of this is the expedition to Zacatecas (Northern Mexico), which
was referred as La Gran Chichimeca . The group of Spanish and Indian explorers ignored the fact that
the indigenous tribes who lived there, considered La Gran Chichimeca as inheritance from their
ancestors. Therefore, when the Spanish invaded their land in 1550, Zacatecos and Guachichile Indians
began attacking travelers and merchants, including the Spaniards. Thus, starting the Chichimeca War.
It was until the end of the sixteenth century that Alonso Manrique de Zuñiga, appointed as the Viceroy
of Mexico, offered peace and opened up negotiations. The Viceroy offered food, clothing, lands, and

Analysis Of Fences And Heart Of Darkness
August Wilson was a famous and influential playwright who wrote about the African American
experience and conflicts with the White world. Although he may be argued as one of the greatest
playwrights in America, I myself have only heard of his work once when my seventh grade English
class read Fences, a play about a man and his son dealing with dealing with racism while also dealing
with their own conflict when the son wants to follow in the steps of his father and become a
professional athlete. I had honestly forgotten all about that one play I read eight years ago. Wilson s
name was barely among the many playwrights studied in my latter years. This could be because of the
content of his plays. Much of Wilson s work examines the negative aspects of being African American
in America such as racism and poverty. When we read about African American literature in school, we
read about empowerment and pride. It is ironic how students study White writers who tell stories like
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Heart of Darkness with mistreated African American
characters, but barely study those same stories written by Black authors, poets, and playwrights.
Because African American literature was not glorified in the past, specifically speaking of a time
before the Harlem Renaissance, it may take time for certain works of African descendants to be
glorified at the same level as those of White writers, especially if their peak wasn t during the
Renaissance. Wilson s Century

Recount essay
Recount The movie recount is a very good representation of what happened during the 2000 election
between George W. Bush and Al Gore. It dives into the legal battle between the two campaigns as the
recount of Florida s votes kept the nation waiting for over a month. Although the movie shows both
sides of the story, I believe the Democrats supported the making of this movie. During the movie they
made it seem like the Democrats were being treated unfairly but really the government was just
following the rules. Today it is still a controversial topic, I believe the government handled it the right
way and that if it was to happen again, the same outcome would happen. At the end of the movie they

This butterfly ballot caused confusion to many voters, and quickly after they voted many had called in
saying the voted for the wrong person. The reason given for the design was that they felt the people
wouldn t be able to read the font if they put all the candidates on the same side of the ballot. Although
the set up may have been confusing it is your job as a voter to pay attention to what you are doing
while voting.
A hanging chad is the piece of paper left hanging from a punch card ballot when the punch is
incomplete. A bulging chad is still attached to the hole on both sides. During the 2000 election chads
were a very big deal. During the recount it was a big decision whether or not to count a vote that didn t
go all the way through even if you could tell where their intended vote was heading. In my opinion
they should not count the vote if it did not go all the way through, again it is your job as a voter to
make your vote obvious.
The Florida Recount Law states that, the close vote margin for Florida elections is 0.5% of the total
votes cast for a given office or measure. The law specifies that candidates, including candidates for
retention to a judicial office, and ballot measures are all subject to recounts. Both primary and general
elections are eligible for recounts. The apparent losing candidate by this margin can waive the recount

Psychological Theories Of Aggression
With new fads and hoaxes being created and revived daily on the internet it can be helpful to have a
healthy amount of skepticism when approaching these topics. From gamers and game makers
claiming that children have free will and many parents saying that children say and do what they see it
can be difficult to tell where the truth lies. By using psychological studies on the behavior of observers
the truth can be much less murky. If children watch their parents and repeat what they say, then it can
be predicted that they would do the same for other sources of information as well, including the
media.
Media affect theories in modern times originated with Bandura s social learning theory, which
suggests that children may learn aggression from viewing others. This modeling of behavior was first

The working definition of aggression, as stated in Violent Media Effects, is any actions directed
toward an individual that is carried out with the intent to cause them harm. The perpetrator must also
believe that the actions will harm the target and that the target would be motivated to avoid the
behavior (Groves, C. L., Prot, S., Anderson, C. A, 2016, pg.3). While it is important to know about
horrific acts of violence so that the human race can avoid repeating them, watching such crude acts is
not crucial.
Technological advancements have given rise to unprecedented access to television shows, movies, and
video games. Scientists have dedicated much of their attention on how media, particularly violent
media, influences viewers, and players. It is important to keep a child s innocence while still allowing
them to explore the world around them, and acts of violence are one thing they don t need to witness.
By avoiding media that contains graphic violence children will, in turn, be less

Public Transportation In The Kitchener-Waterloo Region
Public transportation has come to be something that many people of all backgrounds, ages, and
statuses rely on. Without public transportation, it would be very hard for many to get around,
especially students. It really is hard to imagine a world without public transportation, however, there
once was a time.
Before 1886, there was no public transportation in the Kitchener Waterloo region, then known as the
Berlin Waterloo region, before Berlin was renamed to Kitchener. Without your own means of
transportation, likely a horse drawn vehicle, you would have to travel by foot, meaning you probably
could not travel too far. However, when horse drawn streetcars were brought to the region, this all
changed for the residents.
The Berlin and Waterloo Street Railway Company was established in 1886 and finally opened its
railway in 1888. The original line ran along King Street to Cedar Street (now known as Bridgeport
Road) and also branched out to the Grand Trunk Railway Station. The line spanned about 4km and
had a half hour service. There were eight cars and 17 horses, as well as three covered sleighs for bad
winter weather, meaning the service was year round. This streetcar service greatly improved the lives
of many living in the city, as it was an easier and less expensive way to get around (footnote).

This led to the abandonment of streetcars and the reduction of lines in the city, going down to only

extensive damage to both the lines and rails. Ironically enough, the railway had been scheduled to
close just four days later on December 31, so the costs to repair were not justifiable, and trolleys went
into service not long after to replace the streetcars, along with the introduction of the bus lines a few

My audition wasn t believable; I think during the middle of my journey it looks like I ve become
apathetic, especially during a time where I should ve shown how much I wanted this girl.
When I got out of my character (when I disconnected) I stopped listening because I became nervous:

The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish (Creation Epic) Essay
The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish
The Enuma Elish, often known as The Creation Epic, is often considered the primary source of
Mesopotamian cosmology. However, to view the Enuma Elish as a cosmological myth obscures the
true intent of the epicís author. The cosmological elements of the Enuma Elish are secondary to the
authorís effort to explain the supremacy of Marduk, to justify absolute oriental monarchy, and to
defend Babylon as the axis mundi.
The Enuma Elish was composed in Babylonin the early second millennium B.C.E. The decay of
Sumerian civilization allowed the Old Babylonian Empire to become the cultural and political center
of Mesopotamia. Babylon was governed by absolute and despotic kings capable of wielding ... Show

Furthermore, the transfer of power to Babylon is illustrated by the subjugation of all gods to the rule
of Marduk. After erecting a throne for Marduk, the gods proclaim, Thou art (the most) important of
the great gods; Thy destiny is unequaled, thy command is (like that of) AnuÖTo thee we have given
kingship over the totality of the whole universe ( Enuma Elish, 36). This statement reflects the reality
of the times. During the writing of the Enuma Elish the Old Babylonian Empire weilded supreme
power in Mesopotamia.
Moreover, the recognition Mardukís absolute rule is etiological in relation to the power of the
Babylonian kings. According to Assyriologist Benjamin Foster, the Enuma Elish explains the
evolution from early government by elders to absolute monarchy. As the battle between Marduk and
Tiamat illustrates, Foster notes the catalyst for this change is portrayed as outside threat calling for a
war leader. The leader demanded, as his terms for leadership, absolute obedience, even when the
threat of war was removed (Foster, 9).
Once the writer of the Enuma Elish set forth the supremacy of the Babylonian God and the precedent
for earthly monarchy, he/she turned to the task of translating divine superiority to earthly. The process
of translating divine power to earthly power begins on line 50 of Tablet IV of the Enuma Elish.
Grateful for Mardukís leadership, the gods construct the

Customer Loyalty And Brand Loyalty Essay
The term Brand Loyalty also called as Customer Loyalty has been in the business industry since a
very long time as a model to be used in conducting business. But it wasn t until the mid to late 1900 s
that the term was actually given its due importance by making it a vital part of advertising and
marketing. The concept of marketing evolved substantially from being focused on sales of a product
to having Customer satisfaction to be its focal point. Studies further revealed that there was a positive
correlation between customer satisfaction and Brand Loyalty.
The behavior in which a consumer keeps buying a product time and again instead of buying products
from other competitive companies is called Brand Loyalty. Brand loyalty can often be termed as
Customer Loyalty, Brand Commitment, Product Loyalty etc. Brand Loyalty is seen among consumers
when they realize that the product is better than the other products that are available in the market.
This affinity of a consumer towards a particular product is considered to be brand loyalty. Although,
this consumer behavior is not limited to a simple repetition of a purchase, there is also a psychological
reasoning behind the consumers affinity towards behavior.
The concept of Brand loyalty is defined in terms of 6 necessary and sufficient conditions. These
conditions are as follows:
1. Biased (i.e., nonrandom),
2. Behavioral response,
3. Expressed over time,
4. Some decision making unit,
5. With respect to 1 or more

Naturalistic Observation Of Student s A Coffee Line
Naturalistic Observation of Student s in a Coffee Line In the United States, 85% of adults own a cell
phone, with 18 to 24 year olds texting the most (Zickuhr, 2011). Of these adults, 67% reported that
they check their phone even if they do not hear it ringing, 44% sleep with the phone beside their bed,
and 29% reported they could not live without their cell phone (Smith, 2012). In addition, according to
the Baylor University report, studies show that young adults check their phone an average of 60 times
a day. This study examined cell phone use among university students that were alone and in a group.
Specifically, we were interested in observing whether students alone in a coffee line or students in a
group in a coffee line, spent more or less time on their cell phone. We were also interested to observe
if gender affected cell phone usage and whether males or females were more likely to be in a group.
The purpose of this study was to determine if university students that are alone spend more or less
time on their phone than students that are in a group. We also examined if gender was an important
factor on whether a student was in a group or alone. Using naturalistic observation, we calculated the
amount of time individual students were on their phone per three minute time interval. The hypothesis
was that students alone in a coffee line would spend the most time on their phone. We also predicted
that women were more likely than men to be in a group.

Transatlantic trade slavery, facilitated by the European powers, is an era of slavery that is often
discussed and is often regarded as the most impactful form of slavery in terms of the number of people
it impacted and the geographical area that it covered. While the Transatlantic slavery trade is an
important topic it is not the only slavery trade that existed. Ancient slavery in Rome is a topic worth

regarding slavery in Ancient Rome. The articles share similar themes and ask important questions
regarding the source of Roman slaves, the costs of Roman slaves, the number of enslaved peoples in
comparison to the rest of the population, the lifestyle of Roman slaves in comparison to that of
freedmen, the working conditions under which enslaved peoples were placed, the existence of slavery

This film does a great job of showing that not all loves are happy and pleasant all the time. In an
article written by Seija Rankin, she points out that people do refer to their desired relationships in the
context of popular films . (Rankin) This is a reason why this film is so important, especially in today s
culture of romanticizing everything. People need to see real world examples of what love looks like.
They need to be aware that love does not always go right, and everything is not always flowers and
daisies. While the Prime minister and Natalie s story worked out, not everyone in the films did.
Love Actually is just that, portraying love as in actually is. Not just the pleasant happily ever side but
also what happens after happily ever after. For example, the story of Juliet, Peter, and Mark. Joliet and
Peter get married at the beginning of the film and Mark is the best man. Juliet has always had the
impression that Mark did not like her as he never really made any attempts to get closer to her or get
to know her in any way. Through a series of event Juliet finds out that Mark has actually been in love
with her the entire time. Once she finds this out at the end of the film Mark shows up and tells her yes,
he is in love with her, but he knows that they can not be together. This highlights the unhappy sides to
love. When one s love cannot be returned by the one they desire. It shows the audience that just

Divinity Of Jesus Research Paper
In this section we will explore the different proposals to the issue of the humanity and divinity of
Jesus (the horizontal axis), which was later classified as heresies, and the orthodox positions defined
by the Council of Nicea convened to settle this issue (refer to Lesson 5 for discussion on Docetism).
1.1 Arianism: Glorious Human Nature; God like Nature
Arius of Alexandria (ca. 250 336) believed God is absolutely transcendent, therefore He could not be
involved in His creation to the limitation of a body. Thus Jesus could not be fully divine. He further
taught that an earthly father precedes his son, so the Heavenly Father preceded Jesus, thus Jesus had a
beginning and is not eternal in existence. Jesus is not of the same substance as ... Show more content

310 390) protested against the idea of a man joined with God. He said this results in two sons: the Son
of God and the Son of Mary. In Apollinarius understanding the flesh is not a separate complete living
entity; unlike other humans who depend on the human soul for movement and action, Jesus body
depended on the divine logos for movement and action. Thus, Jesus is not completely human because
he does not have a human soul, spirit, or mind (Dorman 2001: 157).
In Apollinarius understanding Jesus is more divine than human. The humanity of Jesus is absorbed
into His divinity. There are two implications arising from Apollinarius s fusion of the Word and flesh.
First, he regarded Jesus flesh as being glorified. It is now divine flesh or the flesh of God. Second,
since Jesus flesh cannot be separated from the Word, He becomes a proper object of worship.
What are the objections to Apollinarius views? First, it was a docetic perspective: Jesus was not really
a man but only appeared to be such. Second, because the psychological aspect of the human nature
was missing, Jesus was not human. Third, if Jesus did not assume full humanity, His redemptive work
was undermined. How could a divine will s resistance to sin achieve our salvation from sin? Jesus had
to be fully human with a human will and human limitations to save us

The Frontiers of American History in Last Child of the...
In the second chapter of Last Child of the Woods, Richard Louv makes the claim that there have been
three frontiers in the course of American history. The first phase was the original frontier, before the
Industrial Revolution. This was the time of the prairie schooner, the cowboy, the herds of bison that
were thousands strong. This was a rough, hard time, when man and nature were constantly thrown
together. There was wilderness to spare, and people were willing to move West to get to it. The second
phase came into being after the Industrial Revolution. Land that was available to homesteaders had
run out. Yet the American people still considered themselves frontier explorers. Times had been trying
during the Westward Expansion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are they taught that building things outside are bad, but because of the disappearance of
natural spaces within cities, nature is not as accessible to kids. This leads to what Louv calls, Nature
Deficit Disorder, the lack of relationship between children and nature.
Richard Louv uses Logos in several different ways throughout this selection. He collects research
from many different studies, interviews parents, and finds sources from history. In his second chapter
especially, he uses numerous examples of scientific experiments to back his point that people really do
not have an adequate realization of the difference between humans and animals. In his third chapter,
he conducted an interview with a parent who had moved to a certain neighborhood because of the
abundance of outdoor areas. Louv uses this interview to illustrate his point that even if nature is
available, it really is not supposed to be used for unstructured recreation. In his second chapter, he
draws on U.S. Census Bureau reports to illustrate the decline of the family farm. He uses historical
events and ideas to show his idea of the romanticizing of the American frontier. Through these
concrete examples, he is able to persuade the reader that his ideas and theories are valid. I think that
Louv is right in his opinion that kids are losing touch with nature. This epidemic is not just in big
cities, but wherever technology has a hold. Technology has become

A Newborn Life Jeannette Walls Analysis
A Stubborn Life
While swimming in Jeannette Walls sea: Half Broke Horses, I have found many pearls to catch and
use. Those pearls were Lily s life events. Lily is the main character that the novel is based on. She was
a woman of her kind back in the twentieth century. Lily had encountered numerous difficulties
throughout her life, but she never let those difficulties pull her down. Lily stood up for her right to be
and spoke up against everyone tried to shut her voice down. Even though she knew that she might lose
the dream career which she always loved, teaching but she refused to give in her principles. One day
Lily was about to be fired just because she was teaching the kids especially the girls how to dream big.
Lily said with an unshaken voice that my job is to give these kids an education, and part of that is
letting them know a little bit about what the world is really like (Walls 166). I praise the strength that
Lily held in her soul, and how she refused to concede to the authorities. Even though I was not as
outspoken as Lily, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We arrived on a day where the sky was pale, and the people s faces seemed very weary. I convinced
myself that everything will be fine by repeating some positive thoughts in my head. The conflict in
Iraq was pretty aroused most of the time, and even though my parents and I were Iraqis, people there
still looked at us as foreigners, because we did not live in Iraq long enough. However, it was very hard
to set an appointment for the passport process, so we waited about six days for it. It was not a pleasant
waiting because there was no electricity, for we had to deal with the 120 Fahrenheit weather. My
parents knew how difficult it was for me to stay there, even for a short period of time, but no solution
they had. I have big dreams to achieve, I also have a big love for my family, and I was not ready to
suffer if something would happen to them because of an explosion or a

The Characteristics Of Language InThe Shining, And William...
Introduction:
Authors in the horror genre often use various writing techniques in order to create the horror
characteristics they wish to include throughout their novels, and therefore I will analyse the techniques
used by Stephen King and William Blatty in two of their most famous novels. The purpose of this
comparative analysis is to discover what language and stylistic features Stephen King in The Shining
and William Blatty in The Exorcist use to create characteristics of the horror genre. I will discover
how both authors use important writing techniques such as foreshadowing, mystery, surprise, fear and
suspense, in order to create a horror theme throughout their novels, and I will compare the similarities
and differences in their writing techniques. In the end I am hoping to come to a conclusion where I
thoroughly understand how both Stephen King and William Blatty both used language and stylistic
features to create the theme of horror in both, The Shining and The Exorcist .
Foreshadowing:
Foreshadowing is used to create an image in the readers head before the event actually occurs so that
the reader can predict what is going to happen. In The Shining by Stephen King, there is constant
foreshadowing. Since the beginning of the book, hints are given to the reader as to what will happen
later on in the novel. A lot of this foreshadowing is shown to the reader in the form of Danny s ability,
the shining . Through his gift, he can often see hints of what will happen in the future. For example, he
has constantly encountered the word REDRUM . At first, he has no clue what it means, but then, once
he is already in the hotel, he figures it out. And then, eyes widening in horror, he saw the word
REDRUM reflecting dimly from the glass dome, now reflected twice. And he saw that it spelled
MURDER. Danny Torrance screamed in wretched terror (343). It s at this moment that the reader also
realises the significance of the word REDRUM , as it becomes clear that the word is actually murder.
It s at this moment that all the foreshadowing leads to a definite meaning. Foreshadowing is very
prominent throughout The Shining . In The Exorcist however there are many moments that
foreshadow upcoming

Fade in from a black screen. The key light seen as radiant rays of sunlight peeking through the
eastside of the window and is projected on to the floor. The faint sound of something dripping can be
heard in the background and is gradually getting louder. This is accompanied with the sound of one
walking falteringly on the creaky oak floor boards. The camera enters an out of focus close shot and is
gradually coming to focus of the thick crimson red droplets of blood splatting as they reach the burnt
umber floor. The camera slowly zooms out to a long shot at a low angle of the back of a tall lean
teenager with shrivelled blonde hair wearing a ragged purple dress, clutching tightly on to a metal
knife varnished with blood. The mahogany wood panelled walls in front of her are bare just containing
one photo of the girl and her family with blood smeared all over it. The camera cuts to a POV
shot(Photograph) of a protagonist looking out the window at the fluffy white clouds sweeping through
the gradient blue sky. The ambient light is in the form of natural light from the sun rays. The asperous
verdant hills can be seen in close proximity.

Life Changing Decisions In The Bluest Eyes By Toni Morrison
As the novels progress, both protagonists face life changing decisions, based on their past experiences
they had with the choices their own mothers had to make, they now must choose between sacrificing
the ones they love, or the life which they have always dreamed. To begin, in The Bluest Eyes, Pauline
s daughter Pecola is reaching for the blackberry pie juice that is piping hot. Pecola wants to help her
mother by moving the boiling juice to an area that will let it cool faster. She hopes that by doing this
task, she will gain her mother s acceptance. While doing this, the bowl slips out of Pecola s hands and
juice is spilled everywhere on the floor, including on her legs. When this happens Pauline shockingly
says: crazy fool...my floor, mess... look what you ..look what you... work...get on out...now what

Instead of showing her motherly concern to Pecola, she cares more about what is not hers, she is too
concerned about the floor that does not belong to her rather than the well being of her own flesh and
blood. This also makes Pecola feel like her mother could care less about her, and that she is non
existent. In Beloved, Sethe makes a decision which greatly impacts not only her life in a negative way
but her children s lives as well. Sethe lives a hard life of slavery and does not want her kids to go
through it. While running away for freedom, Sethe was chased by her master. In this desperate
situation, she does what she thinks is right, which is slitting the throat of her own child whom she later

  • 2. Defining Characteristics Of The 12 Step Approach Introduction A brief overview of the defining characteristics of the 12 step approach (Baldwin et al., 2011, Bateson, 1971, Jellinek, 1960, Lacan and Miller, 1998, Raikhel and Garriott, 2013, Schenker, 2009, University of Chester, 2016, Wilcox, 1998) with particular focus on its definition (NCCMH, 2008) and UK based studies (Best et al., 2001, Day et al., 2005, Harris et al., 2003) recognising the translatability of the 12 steps relating to higher power and personal responsibility (Appendix 1, p.11) create tensions for client/patient engagement (Best et al., 2001, Harris et al., 2003) and staff/professional referral (Day et al., 2005). A commissioned report by National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (NCCMH, 2008) by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and a recent 8 year review of the aforementioned (NICE, 2016) inform current NICE guidelines including referrals to 12 step (NICE, 2007). The current evidence base (NCCMH, 2008) uses a systematic review of the literature (McAuliffe, 1990, Etheridge et al., 1999, Moos et al., 1999, Fiorentine and Hillhouse, 2000, Toumbourou et al., 2002, Weiss et al., 2005, Timko et al., 2006). An 8 year review of the evidence (NICE, 2016) finds no new evidence to warrant evolving the existing guideline, providing supporting evidence and emerging evidence to inform the current guidelines (Johnson et al., 2006, Kelly et al., 2010, Laudet et al., 2006, McKellar et al., 2009, Timko and DeBenedetti, 2007). Introduction In the last century the population has increased by 6 billion and by 2050 is expected to reach 8 Billion, this coupled with global industrialisation has placed huge stresses on the environment, affecting sustainability and causing buildups of organic and inorganic contaminants throughout the biosphere, most notably in the rhizosphere (Ward Singh, 2004). He was a good spokesperson, proving himself right off the bat with his inaugural address in 1961. These speeches instilled support and confidence in the hearts of those who listened. Not a peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope to build a better life for their children not merely peace for Americans, but peace for all men and women: not merely peace in our time, but peace for all time. quot; President Kennedy was a natural leader. When Worlds Collide Essay In the film When Worlds Collide , the answer to the question How did the American Indigenous populations impact Spain (and vice versa)? was focused on the changes in wealth, class systems, and the Spanish conquistadors intentions. The first topic covered in the film is how today s America and today s world are heavily influenced by the culture, heritage, and history of the Mestizo race and their Spanish counterparts. The video then explains that the Mestizo race came into existence after the Spaniards had children with the Natives of the New World . Next, the film highlights the differences between the cultures of the Spanish and the native indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica. One of the differences between the two cultures was that the Mesoamericans had a close relationship with nature, and it was that relationship that enabled them to discover things like the ... This was the case for the mining of the silver mines, because the Spanish ruler (at the time of the discovery of the mines), decided that the natives would have to mine due to the Spanish and the Africans inability to brave the harsh terrain, despite the previous laws that forbode the Spanish from using the natives as slave laborers. • 7. Parenting Reflection Becoming a more competent communicator and disciplinarian, without escalating conflict is what I am working on, specifically with my five teenage children, ages 17, 15, 14, 14 and 14. After my divorce, my children were beginning to exhibit at risk behaviors, such as sneaking out of the home, disregarding family rules and expectations with regard to homework, chores and their overall safety. Eventually a friend who is employed with the Department of Children and Family Services referred me to Youth Services. This resulted in attending weekly classes for ten weeks aimed at reducing conflict and finding new ways to communicate with my children. The class is structured around the peer reviewed research of the same name, Strengthening Families, and provides an atmosphere for me to work with youth counselors who actively assist me in changing my parenting style to adopt a more collaborative approach. Through my research and attendance of the Strengthening Families classes, it became glaringly obvious that the approach I was taking to parenting, was not successful. One of my discoveries through this project is that overall, my children respond better to a collaborative approach and it is more meaningful to hold them accountable for their actions when we have all decided ahead of time what those consequences will be. While I have five children left in my home, I have an older son who is married and on his own, I have been parenting one way for a very long time and I found changing ... Close involvement of a business user from the beginning of information systems development has the potential to produce a better outcome for both the organization and the developer. The third phase of the system development process is the programming phase. During this stage system specifications that were prepared during the design stage are translated into software program code (Laudon, Laudon, 2016). The business user plays a vital role in this stage because it is in this stage that the software will be either developed or purchased from an outside vendor (Hsu, Lin, Zheng Hung, 2011). Ensuring that the software aligns with the new requirements is vital to the long term success of the information system. The fourth stage of the system development process is the testing phase. During this phase exhaustive and complete testing must be accomplished to ensure that the new system produces the expected results (Laudon, Laudon, 2016). The business user s involvement in this process can be utilized by trying to make the new system fail in order to fix any major or minor problem that may arise down the road (Laudon, Laudon, 2016). I also saw this in the demographic differences, since, like I mentioned in the observation notes, most of the walkers were well dressed young white women, some with their boyfriends, some with a few other friends. • 20. The Spanish Leaders And Indian Warriors Mexico and Spain are two countries that started interacting with each other since the early 1500s. In 1518, Hernán Cortés (a Spanish conqueror) led an expedition to Mexico establishing the city of Veracruz on his arrival. In 1521, Cortes and some of his men marched into the capital city of the Aztec, Tenochtitlan. Even though the Aztecs and their emperor Moctezuma tried to persuade the Spanish to leave, Cortés and his man did not accept. Instead, he allied with some other indigenous people who were enemies of the Aztecs such as the Tlaxcalans in order to defeat them and take Tenochtitlan (1). Following the Spanish Conquest, the Aztecs and Tlaxcalans had aligned themselves with the Spaniards. Thus, most explorations were undertaken jointly with the Spanish leaders and Indian warriors (2). A clear example of this is the expedition to Zacatecas (Northern Mexico), which was referred as La Gran Chichimeca . The group of Spanish and Indian explorers ignored the fact that the indigenous tribes who lived there, considered La Gran Chichimeca as inheritance from their ancestors. Therefore, when the Spanish invaded their land in 1550, Zacatecos and Guachichile Indians began attacking travelers and merchants, including the Spaniards. Thus, starting the Chichimeca War. It was until the end of the sixteenth century that Alonso Manrique de Zuñiga, appointed as the Viceroy of Mexico, offered peace and opened up negotiations. • 21. Analysis Of Fences And Heart Of Darkness August Wilson was a famous and influential playwright who wrote about the African American experience and conflicts with the White world. Although he may be argued as one of the greatest playwrights in America, I myself have only heard of his work once when my seventh grade English class read Fences, a play about a man and his son dealing with dealing with racism while also dealing with their own conflict when the son wants to follow in the steps of his father and become a professional athlete. I had honestly forgotten all about that one play I read eight years ago. Wilson s name was barely among the many playwrights studied in my latter years. This could be because of the content of his plays. Much of Wilson s work examines the negative aspects of being African American in America such as racism and poverty. When we read about African American literature in school, we read about empowerment and pride. It is ironic how students study White writers who tell stories like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Heart of Darkness with mistreated African American characters, but barely study those same stories written by Black authors, poets, and playwrights. Because African American literature was not glorified in the past, specifically speaking of a time before the Harlem Renaissance, it may take time for certain works of African descendants to be glorified at the same level as those of White writers, especially if their peak wasn t during the Renaissance. It dives into the legal battle between the two campaigns as the recount of Florida s votes kept the nation waiting for over a month. Although the movie shows both sides of the story, I believe the Democrats supported the making of this movie. During the movie they made it seem like the Democrats were being treated unfairly but really the government was just following the rules. Today it is still a controversial topic, I believe the government handled it the right way and that if it was to happen again, the same outcome would happen. Although the set up may have been confusing it is your job as a voter to pay attention to what you are doing while voting. A hanging chad is the piece of paper left hanging from a punch card ballot when the punch is incomplete. A bulging chad is still attached to the hole on both sides. Psychological Theories Of Aggression With new fads and hoaxes being created and revived daily on the internet it can be helpful to have a healthy amount of skepticism when approaching these topics. From gamers and game makers claiming that children have free will and many parents saying that children say and do what they see it can be difficult to tell where the truth lies. By using psychological studies on the behavior of observers the truth can be much less murky. If children watch their parents and repeat what they say, then it can be predicted that they would do the same for other sources of information as well, including the media. Without public transportation, it would be very hard for many to get around, especially students. It really is hard to imagine a world without public transportation, however, there once was a time. Before 1886, there was no public transportation in the Kitchener Waterloo region, then known as the Berlin Waterloo region, before Berlin was renamed to Kitchener. Without your own means of transportation, likely a horse drawn vehicle, you would have to travel by foot, meaning you probably could not travel too far. However, when horse drawn streetcars were brought to the region, this all changed for the residents. The Berlin and Waterloo Street Railway Company was established in 1886 and finally opened its railway in 1888. The original line ran along King Street to Cedar Street (now known as Bridgeport Road) and also branched out to the Grand Trunk Railway Station. The line spanned about 4km and had a half hour service. There were eight cars and 17 horses, as well as three covered sleighs for bad winter weather, meaning the service was year round. The cosmological elements of the Enuma Elish are secondary to the authorís effort to explain the supremacy of Marduk, to justify absolute oriental monarchy, and to defend Babylon as the axis mundi. This statement reflects the reality of the times. During the writing of the Enuma Elish the Old Babylonian Empire weilded supreme power in Mesopotamia. Moreover, the recognition Mardukís absolute rule is etiological in relation to the power of the Babylonian kings. According to Assyriologist Benjamin Foster, the Enuma Elish explains the evolution from early government by elders to absolute monarchy. As the battle between Marduk and Tiamat illustrates, Foster notes the catalyst for this change is portrayed as outside threat calling for a war leader. The leader demanded, as his terms for leadership, absolute obedience, even when the threat of war was removed (Foster, 9). Once the writer of the Enuma Elish set forth the supremacy of the Babylonian God and the precedent for earthly monarchy, he/she turned to the task of translating divine superiority to earthly. Customer Loyalty And Brand Loyalty Essay The term Brand Loyalty also called as Customer Loyalty has been in the business industry since a very long time as a model to be used in conducting business. But it wasn t until the mid to late 1900 s that the term was actually given its due importance by making it a vital part of advertising and marketing. The concept of marketing evolved substantially from being focused on sales of a product to having Customer satisfaction to be its focal point. Studies further revealed that there was a positive correlation between customer satisfaction and Brand Loyalty. The behavior in which a consumer keeps buying a product time and again instead of buying products from other competitive companies is called Brand Loyalty. Brand loyalty can often be termed as Customer Loyalty, Brand Commitment, Product Loyalty etc. Brand Loyalty is seen among consumers when they realize that the product is better than the other products that are available in the market. This affinity of a consumer towards a particular product is considered to be brand loyalty. Although, this consumer behavior is not limited to a simple repetition of a purchase, there is also a psychological reasoning behind the consumers affinity towards behavior. Slavery Impact On Slavery Transatlantic trade slavery, facilitated by the European powers, is an era of slavery that is often discussed and is often regarded as the most impactful form of slavery in terms of the number of people it impacted and the geographical area that it covered. While the Transatlantic slavery trade is an important topic it is not the only slavery trade that existed. Ancient slavery in Rome is a topic worth acknowledging and analyzing. The article Slavery in the Ancient World by A.H.M. Jones, the article The Bitter Chain of Slavery : Reflections on Slavery in Ancient Rome by Keith Bradley and Frank M. Snowden, and the article The Roman Slave Supply by Walter Scheidel all ask important questions regarding slavery in Ancient Rome. The articles share similar themes and ask important questions regarding the source of Roman slaves, the costs of Roman slaves, the number of enslaved peoples in comparison to the rest of the population, the lifestyle of Roman slaves in comparison to that of freedmen, the working conditions under which enslaved peoples were placed, the existence of slavery in surrounding areas, different social and political settings and their impact on slavery, the nature of the master slave relationship, how and why slavery did not seem to be problematic in Roman society from a Roman perspective, the different forms of slavery, and why slavery continued. One of the most pressing questions regarding slavery is how slaves were obtained. Without a source of slaves, slavery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the early nineteen hundreds, a serial killer took the lives of multiple New Orleanians. Italian gangsters in New Orleans did not usually attack women or children. New Orleans had heavy mob activity. The Axeman was not an act of organized crime, but an association with the mafia. On Thursday, May 23, 1918, the Axeman claimed his first victims. A door panel was removed to gain access into the homes of the victims, although, he did use a window to get into Sarah Laumann s room. A wooden chisel and an axe were left behind at every crime scene. Witnesses reported a large, dark figure as the suspect, but could not identify the actual person. • 41. Analysis Of Love Actually By Richard Curtis The movie Love Actually (2003) by Richard Curtis demonstrates how the connections between people are limitless and that love is a concept that has the ability to lift people up and tear people down. The movie follows the lives of nine different relationships and the audience is able to see every aspect of love, romantic, platonic, familial and more. In an article by Ben Dreyfuss, he points out that most critics of the film point like to say that Love Actually is a saccharine soulless picture that relies on an emotionally manipulative soundtrack and has nothing to say but somehow takes 136 minutes to say it (Dreyfuss). However, that is not the case. This movie has had a lot of controversy since the release in 2003. In this paper I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This film does a great job of showing that not all loves are happy and pleasant all the time. In an article written by Seija Rankin, she points out that people do refer to their desired relationships in the context of popular films . (Rankin) This is a reason why this film is so important, especially in today s culture of romanticizing everything. People need to see real world examples of what love looks like. They need to be aware that love does not always go right, and everything is not always flowers and daisies. While the Prime minister and Natalie s story worked out, not everyone in the films did. Love Actually is just that, portraying love as in actually is. Not just the pleasant happily ever side but also what happens after happily ever after. For example, the story of Juliet, Peter, and Mark. Joliet and Peter get married at the beginning of the film and Mark is the best man. Juliet has always had the impression that Mark did not like her as he never really made any attempts to get closer to her or get to know her in any way. Through a series of event Juliet finds out that Mark has actually been in love with her the entire time. Once she finds this out at the end of the film Mark shows up and tells her yes, he is in love with her, but he knows that they can not be together. This highlights the unhappy sides to love. When one s love cannot be returned by the one they desire. It shows the audience that just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Divinity Of Jesus Research Paper In this section we will explore the different proposals to the issue of the humanity and divinity of Jesus (the horizontal axis), which was later classified as heresies, and the orthodox positions defined by the Council of Nicea convened to settle this issue (refer to Lesson 5 for discussion on Docetism). 1.1 Arianism: Glorious Human Nature; God like Nature Arius of Alexandria (ca. 250 336) believed God is absolutely transcendent, therefore He could not be involved in His creation to the limitation of a body. Thus Jesus could not be fully divine. He further taught that an earthly father precedes his son, so the Heavenly Father preceded Jesus, thus Jesus had a beginning and is not eternal in existence. He said this results in two sons: the Son of God and the Son of Mary. In Apollinarius understanding the flesh is not a separate complete living entity; unlike other humans who depend on the human soul for movement and action, Jesus body depended on the divine logos for movement and action. Thus, Jesus is not completely human because he does not have a human soul, spirit, or mind (Dorman 2001: 157). In Apollinarius understanding Jesus is more divine than human. The humanity of Jesus is absorbed into His divinity. There are two implications arising from Apollinarius s fusion of the Word and flesh. First, he regarded Jesus flesh as being glorified. It is now divine flesh or the flesh of God. Second, since Jesus flesh cannot be separated from the Word, He becomes a proper object of worship. What are the objections to Apollinarius views? First, it was a docetic perspective: Jesus was not really a man but only appeared to be such. Second, because the psychological aspect of the human nature was missing, Jesus was not human. Third, if Jesus did not assume full humanity, His redemptive work was undermined. How could a divine will s resistance to sin achieve our salvation from sin? Jesus had to be fully human with a human will and human limitations to save us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Frontiers of American History in Last Child of the... In the second chapter of Last Child of the Woods, Richard Louv makes the claim that there have been three frontiers in the course of American history. The first phase was the original frontier, before the Industrial Revolution. This was the time of the prairie schooner, the cowboy, the herds of bison that were thousands strong. This was a rough, hard time, when man and nature were constantly thrown together. There was wilderness to spare, and people were willing to move West to get to it. The second phase came into being after the Industrial Revolution. Land that was available to homesteaders had run out. Yet the American people still considered themselves frontier explorers. Times had been trying during the Westward Expansion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only are they taught that building things outside are bad, but because of the disappearance of natural spaces within cities, nature is not as accessible to kids. This leads to what Louv calls, Nature Deficit Disorder, the lack of relationship between children and nature. Richard Louv uses Logos in several different ways throughout this selection. He collects research from many different studies, interviews parents, and finds sources from history. In his second chapter especially, he uses numerous examples of scientific experiments to back his point that people really do not have an adequate realization of the difference between humans and animals. In his third chapter, he conducted an interview with a parent who had moved to a certain neighborhood because of the abundance of outdoor areas. Louv uses this interview to illustrate his point that even if nature is available, it really is not supposed to be used for unstructured recreation. In his second chapter, he draws on U.S. Census Bureau reports to illustrate the decline of the family farm. He uses historical events and ideas to show his idea of the romanticizing of the American frontier. Through these concrete examples, he is able to persuade the reader that his ideas and theories are valid. I think that Louv is right in his opinion that kids are losing touch with nature. Those pearls were Lily s life events. Lily is the main character that the novel is based on. She was a woman of her kind back in the twentieth century. Lily had encountered numerous difficulties throughout her life, but she never let those difficulties pull her down. Lily stood up for her right to be and spoke up against everyone tried to shut her voice down. Even though she knew that she might lose the dream career which she always loved, teaching but she refused to give in her principles. One day Lily was about to be fired just because she was teaching the kids especially the girls how to dream big. Lily said with an unshaken voice that my job is to give these kids an education, and part of that is letting them know a little bit about what the world is really like (Walls 166). • 45. The Characteristics Of Language InThe Shining, And William... Introduction: Authors in the horror genre often use various writing techniques in order to create the horror characteristics they wish to include throughout their novels, and therefore I will analyse the techniques used by Stephen King and William Blatty in two of their most famous novels. The purpose of this comparative analysis is to discover what language and stylistic features Stephen King in The Shining and William Blatty in The Exorcist use to create characteristics of the horror genre. I will discover how both authors use important writing techniques such as foreshadowing, mystery, surprise, fear and suspense, in order to create a horror theme throughout their novels, and I will compare the similarities and differences in their writing techniques. In the end I am hoping to come to a conclusion where I thoroughly understand how both Stephen King and William Blatty both used language and stylistic features to create the theme of horror in both, The Shining and The Exorcist . Foreshadowing: Foreshadowing is used to create an image in the readers head before the event actually occurs so that the reader can predict what is going to happen. In The Shining by Stephen King, there is constant foreshadowing. Since the beginning of the book, hints are given to the reader as to what will happen later on in the novel. A lot of this foreshadowing is shown to the reader in the form of Danny s ability, the shining . Through his gift, he can often see hints of what will happen in the future. For example, he has constantly encountered the word REDRUM . At first, he has no clue what it means, but then, once he is already in the hotel, he figures it out. And then, eyes widening in horror, he saw the word REDRUM reflecting dimly from the glass dome, now reflected twice. And he saw that it spelled MURDER. Danny Torrance screamed in wretched terror (343). It s at this moment that the reader also realises the significance of the word REDRUM , as it becomes clear that the word is actually murder. It s at this moment that all the foreshadowing leads to a definite meaning. Foreshadowing is very prominent throughout The Shining . In The Exorcist however there are many moments that foreshadow upcoming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Life Changing Decisions In The Bluest Eyes By Toni Morrison As the novels progress, both protagonists face life changing decisions, based on their past experiences they had with the choices their own mothers had to make, they now must choose between sacrificing the ones they love, or the life which they have always dreamed. To begin, in The Bluest Eyes, Pauline s daughter Pecola is reaching for the blackberry pie juice that is piping hot. Pecola wants to help her mother by moving the boiling juice to an area that will let it cool faster. She hopes that by doing this task, she will gain her mother s acceptance. While doing this, the bowl slips out of Pecola s hands and juice is spilled everywhere on the floor, including on her legs. When this happens Pauline shockingly says: crazy fool...my floor, mess... look what you ..look what you... work...get on out...now what ...crazy...my floor, my floor... my floor (Morrison, The Bluest Eyes, 109). ... In Beloved, Sethe makes a decision which greatly impacts not only her life in a negative way but her children s lives as well.
