Louise Mallard Character Analysis
Louise Mallard, a woman from Kate Chopin s short story, Story of an Hour . She is an intelligent,
independent lady, Louise believes in a path for women to carry on, yet her thoughts and emotions did
not mirror the path (65). At the point when her sister informs her that Brently, her husband, has passed
on, she reacts with guilt and grief. Louise s vicious response quickly demonstrates that she is a
passionate, decisive lady. She realizes that she should weep for Brently and dread for her own certain
future. However, rather she feels delight at her newly discovered autonomy. Louise is not
unsympathetic and realizes that she will feel sadness for her husband. Louise isolates herself,
performing her own type of self cooping.
Brently Mallard, Louise s husband, as far as anyone knows was killed in a train accident. In spite of
the fact that Louise recalls Brently as a kind and cherishing man, simply being married to him made
him a harsh factor in her life. Brently arrives home ignorant that there has been a train accident. Even
though Brently appears for only one sentence, his impact was enormous. He unintentionally kills his
own wife. His character is very strong and drastically changes the ending of what could have been, an
understanding.
Go away. I am not making myself ill. No; she was drinking in a very elixir of life through that open
window (65). That is what Louise said to her friend as she tried to convince her to leave the room.
Louise s friend, Josephine attempted

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Essay
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, otherwise known as SNAP, originates from the
Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933. It was established in the Great Depression era as the Federal
Surplus Relief Corporation when crop prices fell drastically and farms were struggling to deal with the
excess supply. The Federal government bought the surplus as discounted prices and distributed them
to hunger relief agencies. In 1939 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal program, the
Food Stamp Plan was created by Secretary of Agriculture Henry Wallace to formalize the food
distribution efforts. Although this initial program ceased in 1943 because of a decrease in the number
of people living in poverty, it was reintroduced in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy through a food
stamp pilot program. In 1964, the Food Stamp Act was passed by President Lyndon Johnson. This
program required the purchase of stamps based on the participant s income level to permit the
purchase of low cost nutritional food. After a program revision in 1977 which ended the requirement
for participants to purchase stamps, a nutritional educational program called SNAP Education was
added to the food stamp program in 1981. This program allowed states to apply for matching funds
from the Federal government to deliver nutrition education to eligible persons. In the 1990s, efforts
were made to streamline administration of the program which included the introduction of an

Theories Of Psychology
The first theories talked about within chapter 4 are the inferiority and superiority complex theories
developed by Alfred. The infinity feelings are the source of all human striving, and is normal among
us all. It is brought about as soon as we are born, as we must compensate for our lack of size or
independence. The greatest example I can give of the inferiority feeling happened two days ago with
the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Abdellatif Baka of Algeria won the T13 1500m final on Monday
night in a stunning performance that not only set a new Paralympic world record, but stands as the
fastest 1500m time recorded by an able bodied or disabled athlete in Rio over both the Olympic and
Paralympic Games. Among him was three other runners that finished ... Show more content on

A female patient from New York City is obviously going to be much different than a female farm wife
from Oklahoma. Personality doesn t depend wholly on biological forces, but depends much more on
the environment we was raised in. Horney believed that childhood was dominated by the safety need,
which is a higher level need for security and freedom from fear. She placed great emphasis on the
infant s helplessness. The more helpless children feel, the less they dare to rebel against their parents.
She also dwelled on anxiety which she called basic anxiety. Basic anxiety is a pervasive feeling of
loneliness and helplessness, that becomes the foundation for neurosis. In childhood we try to protect
ourselves against basic anxiety by securing affection, being submissive, attaining power, and by
withdrawing. These self protective mechanisms serve the one goal of defending basic anxiety. Karen
also developed a list of ten neurotic needs. A neurotic need is an irrational defense against anxiety that
becomes a permanent part of personality and affects behavior. Then ten neurotic needs are: affection
and approval, a dominant partner, power, exploitation, prestige, admiration, achievement and
ambition, self sufficiency, perfection, narrow limits to life. Developing these needs will not make us

A Demographic Dividend For Tanzania
A Demographic Dividend for Tanzania? Youth Engagement in Policy Formation
Chatham House, 21 September 2016. Chatham House rule does not apply to this event.
Speaker: Nesia Mahege (NM), Acting Country Manager, British Council Tanzania
Discussant: Constatine Manda (CM), Department of Political Science, Yale University
Chair: Adjoa Anyimadu, Research Associate, Africa Programme, Chatham House
What was discussed? The discussion focused on the Next Generation Youth Voices in Tanzania report,
a research project that gathered more than 3000 responses from the Tanzanian youth on career
prospects, aspirations and fears. This study was carried out by the DFID in collaboration with the

NM highlighted how these results are influenced by cultural factors, since job opportunities in the
rural sector are not perceived as an attractive and successful field to the youth.
On the other hand, young people associate the business sector with power, wealth, and respect.
Lack of skills, education, jobs, and financial support are the main concerns the Tanzanian youth has.
For the young Tanzanian women, early pregnancy and challenges associated with it is what they fear
the most.
Access to quality education is one of the key priorities for the youth, as 1 million Tanzanians graduate
annually, but only 20% are able to actually get a job.
Tanzanian youth does not have access to information on youth policies put in place by the
government, which is problematic. Only 4% are aware of youth policies, while 96% are.
CM highlights the five conclusions drawn from the report:
The fact that around 39% of the youth are concerned with the political situation in Zanzibar raises
questions on the direction this region is taking.
The slogan of the political campaign of the current president is just work , yet the youth is struggling
to find jobs and this trend will continue in the following years. This clearly shows the extent to which
the current government is unaware of how serious the issue of youth unemployment is.
Due to the cultural tradition of always respecting the

Virtual Reality By Morton Heilig
Virtual reality is a computer generated three dimensional environment that allows interaction. This
field of digital art was originally explored and created by Morton Heilig, who thought of extending the
cinematic experience to something that would involve the human senses and enable them to interact
with it. Nevertheless, many artists contributed to the development of the virtual reality afterwards.
Scott Fisher, who was inspired by Heilig s ideas, pushed the boundaries of the virtual reality, to give
the user more control over his experience. In this essay, I will be comparing between the two artists
and their ideas, and the way they contributed to the creation and development of this form of art.

from just sensing the elements from outside the virtual world, to existing in the virtual world and

the user the ability to move and independently change their point of view and navigate through the
virtual environment, unlike Heilig s Sensorama where the user was locked in the machine and has no
control over anything.
Morton Heilig was the first to explore the concept of virtual reality, and is considered to be the father
and the creator of this field, even though his theories and ideas were not heard or given much
attention, he inspired a lot of artists and engineer who came after him. Scott Fisher, who was inspired

Superheroes In The Watchmen Character Analysis
I heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he s depressed. Life seems harsh, and cruel. Says he feels
all alone in threatening world. Doctor says: Treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town.
Go see him. That should pick you up. Man bursts into tears. But doctor... he says I am Pagliacci. Good
joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains (Moore. 64).
The quote is a perfect representation of how complex and psychologically damaged the characters
truly are, proof of their sad and lonesome lives. Almost all of the characters had some sort of dark and
significant event which allowed them to become what they are known as. Thus, transforming them
into characters hardly any normal person can relate with, a chain each one of the characters must bear.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? (Who watches the watchmen?) Superheroes in the Watchmen are given
liberties to enact certain rules, but how does the public really know if said heroes are following the
same rules they abide. It is a testament to the large amount of power granted to certain authoritative
figures and how that said figure is able to abuse that power. I believe that these two quotes in a way,
coincide, while the Watchmen are rescuing others, who is there to rescue the Watchmen? That sad and
unpleasant truth is evidence, that in the end, there is simply no one that can offer Pagliacci the
treatment he desperately needs.
Is this what happens to us? A life of conflict with no time for friends... so that when it s done, only our
enemies leave roses (Moore. 43).
Stated by Rorschach after the death of the Comedian, the quote represents the burdens of a busy life of
crime fighting and its effect towards the man under the mask. The Comedian, due to his behavior and
lack morals, was disliked by the heroes fought beside him, thus, often being lonely. In itself is a
tragedy, that the character who is named The Comedian , was never really happy, despite always
having a grin and his signature smiley face button.

Illegal Immigration in the USA. Historically, agriculture has been the most important sector of Mexico

Tocqueville focuses heavily on equality, and at one point he connects equality to the principal source
of beliefs: I see two very clear tendencies in equality: one impels each individual towards new ways of
thinking, while the other would induce him to give up thinking voluntarily (Tocqueville 492).
Tocqueville would not be surprised to see what is happening at institutes of higher learning today,
since it is basically the shift in weight from the former to the latter. While these students could talk to
people who have different ideas in order to gain new perspectives or strengthen their own, they instead
choose to retreat into spaces where they can take comfort by avoiding uncomfortable topics and
protecting their own beliefs. A passage from Judith Shulevitz s New York Time article In College and
Hiding from Scary Ideas gives an effective example of the modern problem: At one point [a student
and sexual assault victim named Emma Hall] went to the lecture hall... but after a while, she had to
return to the safe space. I was feeling bombarded by a lot of viewpoints that really go against my
dearly and closely held beliefs, Ms. Hall said (Shulevitz 2). Instead of facing the painful situation and
ideas that conflicted her own, she returned to a space where no one would challenge her opinions or
make her think of distressing memories. Correspondingly, Tocqueville makes the remark in
Democracy in America that One of the distinctive characteristics of democratic centuries is a taste for
easy successes and instant gratification. This can be seen in intellectual pursuits as well as other areas
of life (498). In other words, people in America sometimes fail to see the big picture they tend to favor

An Analysis Of To The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf
On the other hand, Mrs. Ramsay acts the role of the perfect wife with her warmth, kindness and praise
in contrast to Mr. Ramsay that is presented as oppressive. As Naremore suggests, The narrator is
interested not in a report of the scene s action, but in its rhythm, in the light healing pulse of Mrs.
Ramsay s sympathy contrasted to Mr. Ramsay s harsh, repeated demands for more (pg.132 of To the
Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf, 1969).
So, in the novel, we can see that opposition develop from the very first page. Mrs. Ramsay encourages
her son to hope to expect that they will go to the lighthouse. Yes, of course, if it s fine tomorrow , said
Mrs. Ramsay. But you ll have to be up with the lark , she added (TL: 3). And even after Mr. Ramsay

appositional noun phrases try to reword and expand the metaphorical explanations of Mrs. Ramsay
and to further entrench her position within the narrative. Similarly, Mr. Ramsay is described according
to several repeating images whose appositional structure focuses on his position within the written
text. This passage provides a critique of gender, but Woolf s act of undermining her own
representational and syntactic styles introduces a deep ambiguity into the narrative.
So, as I mentioned earlier that Woolf s To the Lighthouse is characterized with stream of

which correspond with the form of narrative report, and on the other hand, it is also characterized with
symbolic methods such as multiple point of view, use of time montage, shift of characters

By participating in football people can learn sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork.
Considering the many lessons it teaches, teamwork and discipline play the main role. With teamwork,
players/children are learning how to trust their teammates the more experience they have with each

Explain How The Enlightenment Influenced The American...
How ideas from the enlightenment influenced the American Revolution Our nation was born from the
idea that each person should have their own independence. They thought that the only way to get that
independence was to separate ourselves from not only King George III, but the entire country of Great
Britain. To make sure that there would not be any more tyrants to lead our country; our founding
fathers used ideas from the Enlightenment to establish our government and to ensure our future as a
nation. Many philosophers of the Enlightenment period had a crucial influence on the documents that
created The United States of America. John Locke, Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Rousseau all had a
hand in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. John Locke had a focus on natural
rights. He thought people were peaceful and moral. He believed in a direct democracy, a government
in which the people vote. Montesquieu sharply criticized an absolute monarchy, which Hobbes was a

with varied and measured concentrations of urea. Other solutes will be tested by other groups

In order to understand how and why we will be following this protocol, it will be necessary to go over

The plasma membrane is barrier between a cell and its surroundings, composed of a phospholipid
bilayer and various proteins. Phospholipids are amphipathic lipids with hydrophobic fatty acid tails,
and hydrophilic heads composed of glycerol, choline, and a phosphate group. When phospholipids
come into contact with water they form a bilayer with the hydrophilic heads in contact with the water,

two main disagreements. The first disagreement was the Southern states wanted to keep slavery
mostly for their own farms, so they can gain money from the slave labor. The other disagreement was
the North was so against slavery that Governor Morris denounced slavery. He said it was the curse of

Character Analysis Of Mrs. Mallard
Mrs. Mallard: Not the Typical Woman
We are introduced to Kate Chopin s Story of an Hour, in which the central character, Mrs. Mallard,
receives false news of her husband s passing due to a tragic train accident. Mallard represents the
many unprivileged women of her time, bound to a marriage they may or may not be happy with.
Mallard s character is reflected through her peculiar response to the appalling message, as it was not
what one the reader would expect from a woman of Mallard s era. This aspect reveals that not
everything in her life was ideal. Therefore, Chopin must set this character free from the shackles that
chain her to a life in an unhappy marriage and dependency of a housewife on her husband for
everything, by killing her. Chopin could argue that no other solution was accessible for Mrs. Mallard.

manner: She did not hear the story as many women have heard the same, with a paralyzed inability to
accept its significance. (Chopin 395) Chopin illustrates the idea that Mrs. Mallard was not paralyzed
by the death of her significant other. Rather she accepted it, which strays her persona away from that
of many women who have been in that exact situation. She displays a sign of grief when the news is
freshly given, but as Mallard comes to the realization of a life without the mandatory input or
association of her husband, she eases up and descends to her room and sits in the armchair facing an
open window. She begins to fantasize about life beyond the house in which she has been trapped for
so long, unable to live a life without having her decisions made for her. With her husband out of the
picture, she can finally build a life of her

Narrative Essay About Beowulf
Season: Summer Location: Riverfalls aquarium. Date: 30th of Summer, 492AV Outside, the hot sun
sat high above Riverfall. With summer under way the atmosphere was thick with clouds and humidity.
Child and adult alike gathered together in search of whatever reprieve could be found, sticking to
refreshing water and cool shade. Some chose a more adventurous method to escape the oppressive
weather, taking to the water park and aquarium. Occasionally Zaileys father would pay to cross the
waters between Alvadas and Riverfall to trade some of the skins he had gathered over the past season
or two. Tanning wasn t what he was paid to do in Alvadas but more of the result of a pastime he
enjoyed and an excuse to visit Riverfall. Because there was always the risk of danger, the father would
normally take one of his boys with him, confident that if things turned sour, they would have a better
chance at taking care of themselves. This time however, after much thought and discussion with his
wife, he invited his daughter, believing the journey to be an excellent opportunity to bond with his
youngest. After the many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

place when we come back here? His answer was just a chuckle and a nod. He knew it would be
difficult to believe at first, having lived in Alvadas her whole life, but she would see for herself later.

Tasers Can Stop The Heart And Kill Essay
Outlaw Tasers
Some may say tasers are good and that they are lifesaving, but the shock that comes from the taser can
be extremely painful and life threatening. If the taser does not take a life, it can ultimately impact and
alter the taser victim s life. Furthermore, like most products the taser is not always one hundred
percent effective or reliable. Due to how dangerous the taser is, with intention or not, and the many
outcomes by its use, they should be banned.
Though it is suggested the taser would be a safer solution to apprehend an attacking person rather than
firing a gun at them instead, there is a defect that prevents it from doing so. For the TASER device to
be effective, both electrode barbs must hit the target for the device to ... Show more content on

firing, the probes have to be at a vertical position aiming at a standing target. If the electrode barbs
were to fail to apprehend the target, the one using the taser would be put at risk since they would have
to put the taser back together properly and make sure the probe cartridge is place accurately for
another chance to fire. It may seem easy to put the taser back properly, but there are precautions one
would have to take to be safe from harm to themselves.
To avoid being tased, there are safety measures one should take such as when loading and unloading
the taser s cartridges. One must hold the taser on the device s either side or top. These precautions
while: LOADING:
1. Verify that the safety switch is in the down (SAFE) position.
2. Point the device in a safe direction.
3. Place the cartridge into the front of the weapon until an audible click is heard.
UNLOADING:
1. Verify that the safety switch is in the down (SAFE) position.
2. Point the device in a safe direction.
3. Depress the tabs on the sides of the cartridge and remove. (38)
If the holder of the taser forgets to put the taser into the safe position, the taser might accidently
discharge. Since the taser is a sensitive device, it should be handled

How Is Enkidu An Ideal Hero
In the Sumerian epic The Epic of Gilgamesh, the character Gilgamesh was written as the optimal hero
based on ancient Babylonian standards, while his sidekick Enkidu was written as a lesser and weaker
character to better showcase Gilgamesh s strength. However, when looking at the two characters
through a modern lens, Enkidu is seen to be the ideal hero based on his bravery, strength, and loyalty
that far outshines Gilgamesh. The bravery of Enkidu is seen as soon as he appears in the epic. In fact,
Enkidu was created by the gods for the specific purpose of protecting Gilgamesh. This means that he

fulfills this purpose and never leaves Gilgamesh s side, consistently supporting him and protecting
him whereas Gilgamesh only looks out for himself and does not show that he cares for Enkidu until
Enkidu has died. Enkidu shows his support when he calms and comforts Gilgamesh through some of
his darkest times when the two are on the trip to slay Humbaba. Gilgamesh has had several dreams
that have frightened him into fear and made him want to turn back. Instead of annoyance at the

Hammurabi One of the earliest sets of laws in Mesopotamia composed around (1795 1750 B.C.E.). In
The Code Of Hammurabi justice is instilled by a set of laws that either punished by death or serious
bodily harm on the individual who committed the crime. One prime example of a Justice law would
be, code one If a man accuses another man and charges him with homicide but cannot bring proof
against him, his accuser shall be killed . A major Pro for this code is it protects law abiding citizens
from false accusations and discourages individuals from making false pretenses in the means to gain.
On the other hand, a con for this code is that it could end up reversing a crime from the guilty party to
the innocent, taking the life of a good citizen.
Furthermore, laws that regulated the Mesopotamian society of Hammurabi were necessary for society
to flourish and grow without bumps or hiccups. These laws attempted to regulate morality in an effort

Investigating the Effect of Alcohol on Heartbeat of Daphnia
Daphnia are the organisms that are involved in this experiment to find out what effect alcohol has on
their heartbeat. It is easy to study the effects of alcohol on the heart of Daphnia as the organ can be
easily seen through the transparent body of Daphnia. The number of heartbeats may be counted before
submersion in alcohol and after submersion in alcohol to investigate the effect of alcohol.
Daphnia belong to the Phylum Arthropoda and are Branchiopoda which belong to the class, Crustacea.
Daphnia are invertebrates and also have an exoskeleton, jointed appendages, a dorsal heart and open

This can also be related to Daphnia in the same way. Therefore I predict that as the concentration of
alcohol surrounding the Daphnia increases the greater the percentage decrease of heartbeat.
ABSTRACT
The aim of the investigation was to find out the effect of alcohol on the heart rate of Daphnia. My
hypothesis was, as the concentration of alcohol increases the lower the heartbeat of the Daphnia will
fall. To test my prediction I carried out 25 individual experiments which were all carried out using the
same procedure but varying the alcohol concentration of the solution. To investigate how alcohol
concentration affects the heartbeat of Daphnia I recorded the heartbeat of 25 Daphnia for a period of 7
minutes. This included 1 minute before submersion in alcohol, 3 minutes during submersion in
alcohol and 3 minutes after submersion in alcohol. I then found the percentage decrease of the
heartbeat of the Daphnia from the resting heart rate. At the highest concentration of ethanol solution,
1x10 1gcm 3 the greatest percentage decrease of heart rate was 86.5%. The results in general show
that increasing the concentration of alcohol decreases the heartbeat of the Daphnia lower.
METHOD
Before starting the practical part of the investigation the different concentrations of alcohol that

The Importance Of Family Relationships In Rocket Boys
Family is the most important thing a person has which is why family relationships a number one in
keeping a family together and happy. To have a strong family you need to have respect, not pick

they will always be there when maybe you do not think they will but they always have you back. Just
like in Rocket Boys the dad was very tough and sometimes things were not always perfect the the
Hickman Family.
Homer Sr began to pick sides very early in the book because he was more proud of his son Jim being

would pay a lot more attention to Jim which made Jr very sad and upset and he started disliking his

because he would pick sides but he would also not like his brother because he was getting all of the
attention and Jr was very jealous about that.
To get out of here, you ve got to show your dad you re smarter than he thinks. I believe you can build
a rocket. He doesn t. I want you to show him I m right and he s wrong. Is that too much to ask? This

Need for Wildlife Conservation
Wildlife Conservation Efforts in India
Introduction
The Indian subcontinent boasts of serving as the natural habitat of a large and varied wildlife. The sub
continent with its varied geographical spread from the Himalayas in the north to the Cauvery basin in
the south and the Kutch region in the west to the plains of Assam in East present a diverse range of
environmental conditions for some of the most magnificent as well as the rarest wildlife species of the
world in India to exist. The beauty and variety we see in the jungles of India is difficult to be
expressed in words and I bring together the breadth through pictures in this project. However, the past
few decades have seen the greed and negligence of human beings working to the ... Show more

The natural habitat as well as migration patterns of the animals and birds is experiencing disturbances.
Last but not the least, the threat of poaching has been haunting the wildlife of India since ages. Even
after the establishment of wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, the threat of poaching has not been
totally eliminated.
Wildlife conservation is the practice of protecting endangered plant and animal species and their
habitats. Among the goals of wildlife conservation are to ensure that nature will be around for future
generations to enjoy and to recognize the importance of wildlife and wilderness lands to humans.
Many nations have government agencies dedicated to wildlife conservation, which help to implement
policies designed to protect wildlife. Numerous independent non profit organizations also promote
various wildlife conservation causes.
Wildlife conservation has become an increasingly important practice due to the negative effects of
human activity on wildlife. The science of conservation biology plays a part in wildlife conservation.
The ethic of conservation, in addition to lobbying by conservationists, has made it an important
environmental issue.
Importance of wildlife conservation Due to the growing impact of deforestation, continuous efforts are
being made by some anxious animal lovers to protect the endangered species of wildlife as well as
those that are on the verge of extinction and thus save the world from running out its

The Watergate Scandal Of Nixon
The Watergate Scandal
Abstract
On November 5, 1968 Richard M. Nixon was elected the 37th president of the United States. In 1972
Nixon was reelected in a landslide victory. However, His undoing was already in the works. A few
months prior to Nixon s reelection a group of men linked to the Nixon administration were arrested in
the Democratic party headquarters in Washington s Watergate complex and what followed was one of
the biggest scandals in presidential history. The Watergate scandal was revealed as a cover up by the
Nixon administration to hide involvement in illegal activities against their opponents and ultimately
lead to Nixon s resignation from his presidency on August 9, 1974. Nixon was granted a full pardon
from the Ford administration a month later. A few years later Nixon was paid $600,000 by British TV
personality David Frost for a string of in depth television interviews. The last decades of Nixon s life
were spent rebuilding his reputation. He will always be remembered as the face of the embarrassing
Watergate scandal. Due to these events no president will ever be trusted.

Monsanto Code Of Ethics
Monsanto Co. is a publicly traded multinational agrochemical and biotech corporation founded in St.
Louis Missouri in 1901 making it one of the largest, and most histories US corporations. It operates
around the world in around 69 countries. It has operating revenue of around $15 billion with over
21,000 employees. A lot of farmers around the world depend on their Roundup brand, utilizing their
genetically engineered seeds for better productivity and pest resistance as well as their herbicide

held regular education training and seminars to empower small farmers with new knowledge, then
Monsanto is going to go beyond shareholders and in its work, really make a difference towards

Analysis Of Falling In Reverse By Ronnie Radke
Musicians often use their music as a way of expressing their emotions and thoughts to others in an
entertaining way that is appealing to others. One band that does this is Falling in Reverse, which is led
by the lead singer Ronnie Radke. Radke had a difficult childhood being raised by his single father
after his mother left. This incident has severely affected him, which is revealed in many songs why he
became a drug addict and he is still getting over it today. That occurrence altered the way he looked at
society eventually giving him a pessimistic world view. Radke uses his music to talk about how he
views society around him, and how he feels like humans have become overly violent and shut off
from one another. That theme and overall message of societal hardships and mistakes humans keep
making is clearly talked about in his song, Wait and See. The song whole heartedly embraces Radke s
world views as he tries to show his listeners the mess the world has become, and how they have gotten
themselves into their predicament. Radke conveys his thoughts through the use of numerous literary
devices to create a meaningful and enjoyable song to try and spread his concerns to all. Music is a
universal way in which people connect, and it does this through its use of literary devices to make the
songs meaningful while still appealing. The song, Wait and See, uses literary devices like similes and
metaphors to contribute to the theme of society s mistakes and their impacts on the

Sports Data Analysis Essay
The use of computerized statistical analysis has developed into a vital tool in the world of sports.
Using data analytics to project player abilities, indicative of their potential future performance, is now
an important part of team decision making. This analysis can provide information that makes the

expectations.
Optimal Lineups Win Championships

Diverse Use of Data
Another reason why analytical tools are so vital to a team s success is how this raw data that is used.

Descartes And Hume Essay
There are three ways in which one is able to find truth: through reason (A is A), by utilizing the senses
(paper burns) or by faith (God is all loving). As the period of the Renaissance came to a close, the
popular paradigm for philosophers shifted from faith to reason and finally settling on the senses.
Thinkers began to challenge authorities, including great teachers such as Aristotle and Plato, and
through skepticism the modern world began. The French philosopher, René Descartes who
implemented reason to find truth, as well as the British empiricist David Hume with his usage of
analytic synthetic distinction, most effectively utilized the practices of skepticism in the modern
world.
René Descartes was the first philosopher to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For in Descartes terms, it was plausible to doubt that one has a body, but impossible to doubt the
existence of one s mind; therefore ...self and mind must be identical (Palmer 162).
Hume on the other hand, took a different approach to the idea of self. He believed that there in fact
was no such thing as selfhood. Instead he asserts that it must be some one impression, that gives rise
to every real idea. But self...is not any one impression, but that to which our several impressions and
ideas are supposed to have a reference... (597). By this he implies that in order to form concrete ideas,
ones impressions of pain, pleasure, joy, etc. must be invariable throughout time. This, Hume states, we
know without a doubt to be impossible. Passions succeed each other over time and give rise to new
passions, therefore ...it cannot be from any of these impressions...that the idea of self is derived, and
consequently there is no such idea (597).
Although like Descartes, Hume practiced the art of radical skepticism, he felt that if he could not
utilize his senses to prove something it was meaningless. Hume continued development of Leibniz s
analytical synthetic distinction, or in Hume s words ...a distinction between relations of ideas and
matters of fact (Palmer 197). Analytical propositions are true by definition and are a priori, and
therefore necessarily true. Synthetic propositions are not true by

The Supplemental NutritionAssistance Program Essay The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, otherwise known as SNAP, originates from the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933. It was established in the Great Depression era as the Federal Surplus Relief Corporation when crop prices fell drastically and farms were struggling to deal with the excess supply. The Federal government bought the surplus as discounted prices and distributed them to hunger relief agencies. In 1939 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal program, the Food Stamp Plan was created by Secretary of Agriculture Henry Wallace to formalize the food distribution efforts. Although this initial program ceased in 1943 because of a decrease in the number of people living in poverty, it was reintroduced in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy through a food stamp pilot program. In 1964, the Food Stamp Act was passed by President Lyndon Johnson. This program required the purchase of stamps based on the participant s income level to permit the purchase of low cost nutritional food. After a program revision in 1977 which ended the requirement for participants to purchase stamps, a nutritional educational program called SNAP Education was added to the food stamp program in 1981. This program allowed states to apply for matching funds from the Federal government to deliver nutrition education to eligible persons. In the 1990s, efforts were made to streamline administration of the program which included the introduction of an Electronic Benefit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories Of Psychology Thefirst theories talked about within chapter 4 are the inferiority and superiority complex theories developed by Alfred. The infinity feelings are the source of all human striving, and is normal among us all. It is brought about as soon as we are born, as we must compensate for our lack of size or independence. The greatest example I can give of the inferiority feeling happened two days ago with the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Abdellatif Baka of Algeria won the T13 1500m final on Monday night in a stunning performance that not only set a new Paralympic world record, but stands as the fastest 1500m time recorded by an able bodied or disabled athlete in Rio over both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The more helpless children feel, the less they dare to rebel against their parents. She also dwelled on anxiety which she called basic anxiety. Basic anxiety is a pervasive feeling of loneliness and helplessness, that becomes the foundation for neurosis. In childhood we try to protect ourselves against basic anxiety by securing affection, being submissive, attaining power, and by withdrawing. These self protective mechanisms serve the one goal of defending basic anxiety. Karen also developed a list of ten neurotic needs. A neurotic need is an irrational defense against anxiety that becomes a permanent part of personality and affects behavior. Superheroes In TheWatchmen Character Analysis I heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he s depressed. Life seems harsh, and cruel. Says he feels all alone in threatening world. Doctor says: Treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town. Go see him. That should pick you up. Man bursts into tears. But doctor... he says I am Pagliacci. Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains (Moore. 64). The quote is a perfect representation of how complex and psychologically damaged the characters truly are, proof of their sad and lonesome lives. Almost all of the characters had some sort of dark and significant event which allowed them to become what they are known as. Thus, transforming them into characters hardly any normal person can relate with, a chain each one of the characters must bear. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? (Who watches the watchmen?) Superheroes in the Watchmen are given liberties to enact certain rules, but how does the public really know if said heroes are following the same rules they abide. It is a testament to the large amount of power granted to certain authoritative figures and how that said figure is able to abuse that power. I believe that these two quotes in a way, coincide, while the Watchmen are rescuing others, who is there to rescue the Watchmen? That sad and unpleasant truth is evidence, that in the end, there is simply no one that can offer Pagliacci the treatment he desperately needs. Is this what happens to us? A life of conflict with no time for friends... so that when it s done, only our enemies leave roses (Moore. 43). Stated by Rorschach after the death of the Comedian, the quote represents the burdens of a busy life of crime fighting and its effect towards the man under the mask. The Comedian, due to his behavior and lack morals, was disliked by the heroes fought beside him, thus, often being lonely. In itself is a tragedy, that the character who is named The Comedian , was never really happy, despite always having a grin and his signature smiley face button. Tocqueville focuses heavily on equality, and at one point he connects equality to the principal source of beliefs: I see two very clear tendencies in equality: one impels each individual towards new ways of thinking, while the other would induce him to give up thinking voluntarily (Tocqueville 492). Tocqueville would not be surprised to see what is happening at institutes of higher learning today, since it is basically the shift in weight from the former to the latter. While these students could talk to people who have different ideas in order to gain new perspectives or strengthen their own, they instead choose to retreat into spaces where they can take comfort by avoiding uncomfortable topics and protecting their own beliefs. A passage from Judith Shulevitz s New York Time article In College and Hiding from Scary Ideas gives an effective example of the modern problem: At one point [a student and sexual assault victim named Emma Hall] went to the lecture hall... but after a while, she had to return to the safe space. Instead of facing the painful situation and ideas that conflicted her own, she returned to a space where no one would challenge her opinions or make her think of distressing memories. This can be seen in intellectual pursuits as well as other areas of life (498). In other words, people in America sometimes fail to see the big picture they tend to favor ... An Analysis OfTo The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf On the other hand, Mrs. Ramsay acts the role of the perfect wife with her warmth, kindness and praise in contrast to Mr. Ramsay that is presented as oppressive. So, in the novel, we can see that opposition develop from the very first page. Mrs. Ramsay encourages her son to hope to expect that they will go to the lighthouse. The smell of cleats reeking along with the molded mouth guards and practice jerseys. This is what is known as the first day of football tryouts. All the little ones gather around their friends eager like it is Christmas morning ready to be running around and hitting people. Each one brought up to know the nothing but live, breathe, sleep lifestyle of football. But not everyone knows that lifestyle. By participating in football people can learn sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork. Considering the many lessons it teaches, teamwork and discipline play the main role. With teamwork, players/children are learning how to trust their teammates the more experience they have with each other. As for discipline, it teaches kids to work hard and set good goals which can be helpful for them in the future as opposed to not playing, and being a step behind. NFL expert Jobe Lewis says that football requires a pretty unique brand of teamwork and requires the player to discipline himself and to work hard (Lewis 1). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Explain How TheEnlightenment Influenced The American... How ideas from the enlightenment influenced the American Revolution Our nation was born from the idea that each person should have their own independence. They thought that the only way to get that independence was to separate ourselves from not only King George III, but the entire country of Great Britain. To make sure that there would not be any more tyrants to lead our country; our founding fathers used ideas from the Enlightenment to establish our government and to ensure our future as a nation. Many philosophers of the Enlightenment period had a crucial influence on the documents that created The United States of America. John Locke, Voltaire, Montesquieu, and Rousseau all had a hand in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. John Locke had a focus on natural rights. When drafting the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson used ideas from John Locke. Jefferson expressed Locke s belief that if any government is found unfitting for the citizens, then the citizens have the right to over throw their government. Isotonic Point Definitions andPreliminary Observations: Finding the Isotonic Point of Potato Cells In this lab we will be doing an experiment to find the isotonic point of potato cells by placing potato cores in solutes with varied and measured concentrations of urea. Other solutes will be tested by other groups following the same procedure. We will track the change in weight by removing the cores and weighing them at timed intervals. In order to understand how and why we will be following this protocol, it will be necessary to go over some definitions and processes that are foundational to this approach. The plasma membrane is barrier between a cell and its surroundings, composed of a phospholipid bilayer and various proteins. Phospholipids are amphipathic lipids with hydrophobic fatty acid tails, and hydrophilic heads composed of glycerol, choline, and a phosphate group. When phospholipids come into contact with water they form a bilayer with the hydrophilic heads in contact with the water, and the hydrophobic tails together and kept separate from the water. There, they also discussed the many issues between the North and South. There were many disagreements between the Northern and Southern states, here are the two main disagreements. The first disagreement was the Southern states wanted to keep slavery mostly for their own farms, so they can gain money from the slave labor. The other disagreement was the North was so against slavery that Governor Morris denounced slavery. He said it was the curse of heaven . This led up to the fugitive slave clause and it states, a slave who escapes from slavery to a state where slavery was prohibited, shall be delivered up on claim. Character Analysis OfMrs. Mallard Mrs. Mallard: Not the Typical Woman We are introduced to Kate Chopin s Story of an Hour, in which the central character, Mrs. Mallard, receives false news of her husband s passing due to a tragic train accident. Mallard represents the many unprivileged women of her time, bound to a marriage they may or may not be happy with. Mallard s character is reflected through her peculiar response to the appalling message, as it was not what one the reader would expect from a woman of Mallard s era. This aspect reveals that not everything in her life was ideal. Therefore, Chopin must set this character free from the shackles that chain her to a life in an unhappy marriage and dependency of a housewife on her husband for everything, by killing her. (Chopin 395) Chopin illustrates the idea that Mrs. Mallard was not paralyzed by the death of her significant other. Rather she accepted it, which strays her persona away from that of many women who have been in that exact situation. She displays a sign of grief when the news is freshly given, but as Mallard comes to the realization of a life without the mandatory input or association of her husband, she eases up and descends to her room and sits in the armchair facing an open window. My First YearAs Camp Director I established a repport and friendship with many of the campers, and especially the counselors. And this was only my first year as camp director! This was the group of youth that made me realize that they have such an influence on the younger youth. I was able to see the campers imitate and follow their counselors. I am excited to put my plans into motion for next summer. The feelings I have for the youth I have gotten to know over the past year and a half is outrageous. I have so much pride in them. They are truly amazing individuals. I have seen so much improvement in them that now I can also see exponential potential in them also. It has only been one complete 4 H year and I cannot even imagine how I will feel five, 10 or 20 years from now. This gives me the inspiration and motivation to work hard for these youth. I have assigned several roles to myself to support the growth of older youth in my county and region. I will be a mentor, a friend, a leader and motivator. I have an advantage when it comes to youth adult partnerships; my age can dismantle the intimidating authority figure some older youth may see. Our generations, Y (individuals born in 1981 through 1994) and Z (individuals born after 1994) (Schuckenbrock, 2016), may even overlap some (Geck, 2016). The years to determine Generations X, Y and Z tend to change according to different sources. At the least, there may only be an 11 year difference between myself and a youth in their final ... The Importance OfFamily Relationships In Rocket Boys Family is the most important thing a person has which is why family relationships a number one in keeping a family together and happy. To have a strong family you need to have respect, not pick favorites, treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Family is all you have in the long run and they will always be there when maybe you do not think they will but they always have you back. Just like in Rocket Boys the dad was very tough and sometimes things were not always perfect the the Hickman Family. Homer Sr began to pick sides very early in the book because he was more proud of his son Jim being an all star football player where as Homer Jr was a nerd who wanted to build a rocket. Homer Sr would pay a lot more attention to Jim which made Jr very sad and upset and he started disliking his father early on because of that. It started tearing the family about because he would not like his dad because he would pick sides but he would also not like his brother because he was getting all of the attention and Jr was very jealous about that. To get out of here, you ve got to show your dad you re smarter than he thinks. I believe you can build a rocket. He doesn t. I want you to show him I m right and he s wrong. Is that too much to ask? This quote was a conversation between Homer Jr and his mother Elise and at the beginning of the quote is talks about To get out of here which shows he wants to leave and go somewhere else and a cause would be because a poor relationship with ... This was discussed in relation to nature and primarily Western societies in an earlier reading but also pertains to many social aspects of the Eastern religions (Tucker, Grim 2604). This incident has severely affected him, which is revealed in many songs why he became a drug addict and he is still getting over it today. That occurrence altered the way he looked at society eventually giving him a pessimistic world view. Radke uses his music to talk about how he views society around him, and how he feels like humans have become overly violent and shut off from one another. That theme and overall message of societal hardships and mistakes humans keep making is clearly talked about in his song, Wait and See. The song whole heartedly embraces Radke s world views as he tries to show his listeners the mess the world has become, and how they have gotten themselves into their predicament. Radke conveys his thoughts through the use of numerous literary devices to create a meaningful and enjoyable song to try and spread his concerns to all. Descartes And HumeEssay There are three ways in which one is able to find truth: through reason (A is A), by utilizing the senses (paper burns) or by faith (God is all loving). As the period of the Renaissance came to a close, the popular paradigm for philosophers shifted from faith to reason and finally settling on the senses. Thinkers began to challenge authorities, including great teachers such as Aristotle and Plato, and through skepticism the modern world began. The French philosopher, René Descartes who implemented reason to find truth, as well as the British empiricist David Hume with his usage of analytic synthetic distinction, most effectively utilized the practices of skepticism in the modern world. For in Descartes terms, it was plausible to doubt that one has a body, but impossible to doubt the existence of one s mind; therefore ...self and mind must be identical (Palmer 162). Hume on the other hand, took a different approach to the idea of self. He believed that there in fact was no such thing as selfhood. Instead he asserts that it must be some one impression, that gives rise to every real idea. But self...is not any one impression, but that to which our several impressions and ideas are supposed to have a reference... (597). By this he implies that in order to form concrete ideas, ones impressions of pain, pleasure, joy, etc. must be invariable throughout time. This, Hume states, we know without a doubt to be impossible. Passions succeed each other over time and give rise to new passions, therefore ...it cannot be from any of these impressions...that the idea of self is derived, and consequently there is no such idea (597). Although like Descartes, Hume practiced the art of radical skepticism, he felt that if he could not utilize his senses to prove something it was meaningless.
