After School Programs Essay
Daniel Parra Mrs. Padgett English IV, Period 2 7 December 2010 After School Programs The
impact that after school programs have on young children affects every aspect of their lives.
Although some may feel after school programs are a waste of time and money, it has been proven
that they improve children s social and academic skills. Without these special designed programs,
children may not be able to develop into the kinds of adults which will benefit society in the future.
It is important that society understand the importance of after school programs. To cut back on
after school programs to better the economy is only taking away from the children and opening
new doors to them, which can ultimately lead them to jail or possibly... Show more content on

Learning how to communicate is often overlooked but its an essential skill for anyone. An
example of how important this truly is would be a job interview. Everyone at some point will
have to interview for a job to support themselves and their family. At most interviews, employers
are looking for people who seem to communicate well with others and can present themselves by
communicating their attributes. These communications skills that are necessary aren t easy to
come by. Although one may think it would be easy, many people wont be able to successfully
land a job because of communication. One person may be the most qualified, but if you can not
communicate well then it will not matter. After school programs can also socially benefit a
child. Programs are often designed to teach a child how to be a leader as well as a team player.
Throughout one s life there will be situations where one will need to work in a group as well as
lead a group of people. After school programs involving sports, really hone in on a child s ability
to behave and interact in a group environment. The participants must work together in order to
achieve a common goal which is to ultimately win. In doing so, they must interact and
communicate in a way which will be most beneficial for the entire group. This occurs not only in
sports but in everyday life. At a job, one may have to work with others to

Analysis of Bluebird Essay
Analysis of Bluebird
English A.
Bluebird is a poem written by the modern poet Charles Bukowski and published in 1992 in
Bukowski s collection of poems titled The Last Night of the Earth Poems .
The poem is about the vulnerability, innermost torment and the suppression of an emotional and
fragile personality symbolized through the image of a Bluebird hidden inside the speakers mind.
The composition of the poem is very loose with only two stanzas and a lot of verse lines, some of
which only consists of one word. The verse lines with only one word suggest that the reader also
has to interpret the way the poem is read; not only the message and theme. Bluebird also has an
unusual graphical look that confine, just like Bukowski s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He saw the inside of most American bars, was abused as a child and had a face that was scared
by pocks. Against all odds Bukowski became a renowned, but provocative, poet. The stigma
created by his history and habits, is a stigma that saw Bukowski as a whoring and numb figure, but
in the symbolic value of a bluebird Bukowski tries to tell us that he has a caring personality hidden
deep inside him.
Bukowski feared the reaction from the public if he let the inner bluebird out, but the inner bluebird
also tormented Bukowski himself. It s not only the society s stigma that made Bukowski keep the
bluebird in, but also the very self destructive view Bukowski had on himself. A self destructive
view, backed up by his self destructive drinking and treatment of his own body. there s a bluebird in

Essay On The Movie The Chrysalids
Discrimination is one of the world s biggest problems right now. In the Movie The X Men and
the book The Chrysalids they show a wide variety of different types of discrimination.
Discrimination comes in different ways from verbally to physically. The theme of discrimination
against mutants shows throughout the Book and Movie as Humans Vs Mutants. If you take a
glance at The Chrysalids book and then take a glance at The X Men movie they seem that they
don t have anything a like, but if you look in deeper into the story they have a lot of similarities.

everyone wants mutants gone and they do not want mutants in their life. The mutants live a

Analysis Of Cooley s The Looking Glass Self
According to Cooley s The Looking Glass Self , the degree of personal insecurity one displays in
social situations is determined by how they believe others think of them. In other words, how
we see ourselves, according to Cooley, does not come from who we really are but rather how we
believe other people see us. There are three steps to Cooley s claim: first, we imagine how others
see us. Second, we imagine how others are judging us. Lastly, we react accordingly. The
gendered commodification of children toys sets the stage by giving children at a very young age
preset judgements of how their supposed to act in society. While toys aimed at little boys mostly
include darker colors of blues, blacks, reds, and involve some sort of action or superhero,

Applying The Following Method To Calculate The Optimal...
CE2.18 To increase the BER performance, I applied the following method to calculate the
optimal rotation angle (Оё_opt) for the interleaving system applied to MQAM/MPSK schemes.
The selection of optimal rotation angle is based on finding the expression of average symbol
error probability (P_s) corresponding to Оё given certain signal to noise ratio (SNR). I found out
that the optimal rotation angle (Оё_opt) approximately around 8.6 degree will maximize the BER
performance. CE2.19 I noticed that the simulating process was a time consuming process due to
iterative decoding. I observed that for the calculation of probability of the binary index for kth bit,
large computational load required. As a result, memory usage was increased due to... Show more

I designed the normal BCH encoding process by using three steps using the above figure. 1) I
used a generator polynomial according to the DVB T2 standard table the error correcting
capability of DVB T2 is equal to 12. 2) I divided the message sequence using the generator
polynomial in a Galois field with О±=2 and the remainder resulted in the parity check sequence. 3)
I appended the parity check sequence to the message sequence to get the BCH encoded message
C2.25 I calculated fast encoding process using G(X) = [Ik в‹®P]. The size of G(x) is Nbch Г—
Kbch whereas letter I was the identity matrix with the size of Kbch Г— Kbch and P was the
redundancy matrix , the size of the matrix was Kbch Г— (Nbch в€’ Kbch) and Nbch was the length
of the binary BCH code. C2.26 I was concerned about the implementation of the fast encoding
process as it was required to build a huge matrix, which would over exceed the range. I reshaped
this huge matrix with the help of Matlab tool. Based on the simulation results, I concluded that
longer parity check will provide better the error detection as well as correction and can pre
calculate the parity check sequence. C2.27 I was assigned to design the BCH decoder. I created a
syndrome generation by substituting 2t roots of the original message in the polynomial form of the

Sophocles Phaedrus Knowledge Bias
Phaedrus was told a story by his classical Greek philosopher friend Socrates. The story was about
the King of great city of Egypt, Thamus. He was introduced a lot of inventions by Theuth who was
known as the god of inventions. Theuth declared that his inventions would be available extensively
to Egypt s people.
One of the Theuth s inventions was writing and he believed that it can help Egyptians to get better
with their wisdom and memory. Whereas Thamus contradicted his approach and said this invention
can stop people to practice their memory and they can get forgetful and can be dependent on this
invention.
This story can be the best example of how one thing can be approached by two different
dimensions. Theuth was the one who was considering only the ... Show more content on

He conveys that bringing a new technology can bring many new words and also they have to work
on their old words too. His main concern was technology could be the cause of monopoly in the
society. It means that someone in the society whoever controls new technology will have all that
power and this could create disruptance in the society. Harold Innis used the term Knowledge
Monopolies in his book The Bias of Communication which also conveys the same message.
In this article, Author gave an example of Television that tells that TV has become very important
part for many people s life and it can gradually end the profession of teaching. One more example,
he mentioned in his article was about computer technology that has made a group of people more
powerful than those people whose privacy is risked because of them. This is all because of
technology which remained the same but has different effects in different ways.
According to the article Thamus noticed conceit of knowledge but he showed that it won t succeed
for so long because computers will provide private learning opportunities and will take over four

Dinosaurs Extinction
You re on a weekend adventure at the Omaha Zoo. Your hopes are high to regard the roaring lions,
see the sea lions, and look at the lush plant life throughout the zoo. However, as you look around,
you realize that the animal enclosures are barren:wastelands of cement and trash. Then you see a
small sign that reads, Extinct. You discover that ninety five percent of animal and plant life that
were once main attractions of the zoo no longer encompass the earth. Extinctionis a reality that faces
us today, and it is becoming even more prevalent as we progress into the future. Extinction might
seem like a far off problem for [Noah s flood joke?] science fiction to deal with, but it isn t; and it
is important to know how and why extinction happens in our world today. Human beings play a

done a disservice to students by not allowing them to be exposed to this type of learning. It s not

it is not academic. In order to create a well rounded student who is fully prepared to make the
best possible decisions in their lives, they need to be taught how to succeed academically as

Massage Therapy Research Paper
According to the book, some of the terms and concepts that was portrayed in the massage therapy
technique were shiatsu and Swedish massage. Shiatsu is a type of massage that uses pressure to
release blocked energy and help with relaxation on certain points on your body. This can help with
areas in our body that are sore or distressed. Furthermore, Swedish massagewas another concept
that was mentioned in the book. Swedish massage is a very common and well known massage
for Western cultures. It uses a lot of hand motions like kneading, stroking, and karate type chops.
Swedish massage helps our body by relieving tensions for muscle tissues. Some of the Swedish
massage steps that was mentioned were effleurage, petrissage, friction, kneading, tapotement, and
vibration. These are different hand movements that you could do to help relieve the tensions in
your muscle tissues. For instance, tapotement is a similar form of karate chops that is going to
help alleviate hard muscle tensions. Self massage was also mentioned during the technique and in
the book too. Some of the self massages that we could do on our own body are head, face, neck,

Contents Of The Dead Man s Pocket
The working class can relate to the theme of the short story Contents of the Dead Man s Pocket,
by Jack Finney. More often than not, people strive to get to the top of their profession, but at
what cost? The majority of people spend countless hours of their life working to provide for
themselves and their loved ones. The irony of working all these hours to provide for your loved
ones is that you will not see them nearly as much as desired because of work. In my opinion, the
above passage is important to the story because Tom is now inside lying on the floor as a new

time, Tom is willing to risk everything, including his life, to ensure that he can elevate above his
coworkers. This perilous behavior is the complete opposite from the Tom we read about in the

stories up, to laughing at the same paper flying back out of the window. Tom undergoes character

These verses show that Macklemore is not afraid to show that he is man who buys his clothes
on a budget and preferences to save money by buying second apperal. Another example of
repeating verses that to make clear to listeners that Macklemore s song is a ballad to celebrate
looking good on less, is the repeated verse I m in this big ass coat, big ass coat from that thrift
shop down the road, which puts forth that the artist is satisfied that he in the way that he looks
in his cheap, second hand clothing and wants people to know that and he wants to flaunt it. By
repeating this verse and others, Macklemore is telling his audience that he doesn t care about
how cheap his clothes are because his feels good and is saving is hard earned cash. After a
person listens to Macklemore s song, listeners get a clear message that Macklemore take delight

Usually the main point of a music video is to help tie into the message of the song and give
listeners a clearer perspective of what the artist is trying to convey, and that is true with the music

Color Red Psychology
Since I was a child I have always loved the color red. Whenever my parents would ask me what
color I wanted for various objects, or theme color for a party, I would always choose red. Until
coming into this class, I never gave much thought to what the color red represents or why I have
always liked it. I have read studies about the physiological and psychological impact that colors
have upon individuals, and I have observed the effect of certain colors upon individuals, and I ve
found that my basic reaction to certain colors are different than most people.
For example, since red is the longest wavelength it is perceived by most people as a powerful color,
which to them represents energy, strength and excitement. It grabs peoples attention, and hence
it effectiveness in traffic lights. For many people red is perceived as a demanding and
aggressive color. On the other hand, the color blue causes the opposite reactions as the color red.
For most people, blue is perceived as peaceful and tranquil, and physiologically this color causes
the body to produce calming chemicals, which is why it is often used as a color of paint in
bedrooms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t mean courage of the kind that would allow a person to rush into a burning building to

remember on time in life when I was in the hospital suffering from a major head injury, and I was
feeling very low and defeated because I was facing long months of physical therapy. It was at
this time that my mother brought me a bouquet of red fuchsias. Latter as I gazed upon them I
was filled with the love and personal strength of my mother which helped me to find the courage
I needed to face my difficult time of recovery. Today when I m facing difficult situations in my

Summary Of Snow Falling On Cedars By Horace Whaley
In Snow Falling on Cedars, during an investigation of a murder, Horace Whaley who has racial
prejudice against Japanese provides an evidence that intentionally points to the Japanese
American Miyamoto. Whaley told the sheriff Art Moran that Carl s head wound resembled
wounds he had seen inflicted by Japanese soldiers skilled in the martial art of kendo (Guterson
58). However, in Japanese culture, the Kendo is a Japanese martial art. The ancient stick fighting
heritage and being top in his class makes him look like a murderer. The reason for this weaponry
is because of the need of self defense and uses it for protection. Because Whaley hates Japanese
and believes that Japanese are monsters, he has a pre existing belief that Miyamoto is the

Longoria Character Analysis
I think Longoria s character shows a lot of discipline for doing what is enforced to do. We see
how violence has affected his life and other people s perspective of him. He started out in the
Army at a very young age and carried out the harsh tasks that he was given, no matter how cruel
they were. Longoria is a strong minded person. For him to carry out some of the assignments he
was given, it takes a different kind of person. For example, the incident with the people in the
village. He murdered a whole village of innocent people. To me, this shows that Longoria is
ruthless. In a sense, I would almost say that he has lost his mind. After years of killing like he did,
how does he not have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Most people that must go through and
witness the things like Longoria are scarred for the rest of their life. For example, my grandfather
was in the military during Vietnam. He would wake up screaming in the middle of the night,
fireworks and loud noises bothered him, among other little things that would trigger his PTSD.
Violenceeventually takes its toll and I think it got the best of Longoria. The first altercation between
Antonio and Longoria happens about half way through the book. Antonio travels to the park where
Longoria usually plays chess and sets out to killhim. He arrives and asks for Longoria but he hasn t
arrived yet. After waiting, Longoria finally arrives. Antonio, so full of hate and vengeance, attacks
Longoria with a pipe. Longoria was

The Beloved Country By Alan Paton
Family in Cry, the Beloved Country
One cannot run from hardships, for they occur every day, appear suddenly, and can quickly
consume hope. Instead one must face these difficulties and overcome them. However, to rise above
obstacles alone would only cause further misery and despair. The struggler s family should rally
behind him to comfort and assist him in his time of need. In Cry, the Beloved Country, a 1948
contemporary novel, Alan Paton uses parallelism to emphasize the importance of family because
when individuals encounter hardships they need support from others to help them.
Primarily, tribal families encourage those who suffer with kind words and actions. Stephen Kumalo,
a man filled with pain and suffering , speaks of the hope he receives from others when he says,
There is my wife, and you, my friend, and these people who welcomed me, and the child who is
so eager to be with us here in Ndotsheni so in my suffering I can believe (261). Paton uses the
parallel structure polysyndeton to show how many people from one s family will go out of their
way to lift one s spirits and renew one s faith in God. Cry, the Beloved Country shows readers that
even in difficult times one can find family eager to provide solace to those in need. Whenever there
comes trouble, one can always count on family to rekindle lost hope.
Although family cannot entirely relieve one of misery, their presence can soothe the pain. When
Kumalo hears of his sister s sickness and must leave

The United States As A Christian Nation
Was the United States Founded as a Christian Nation? Have you ever wondered why people in the
American society think any kind of demonstrated behavior is acceptable? The Christian views once
instilled in United States citizens have grown sparse today, in comparison to what they once were.
Opinions of many people have changed concerning multiple issues. Many founding views were
centered on Godly principles as portrayed in the U.S. Constitution, and as well as the Declaration of
Independence. As society continues to argue over the inclusion of religionin politics, members of
society reap the effects in many areas, particularly in the education system. I strongly agree that the
United Stateswas founded as a Christian nation. Religion has been a large part of this country,
starting with the very first people to arrive in America, the Pilgrims. Breaking away from the
Church of England, the Pilgrims settled in what is now known as Massachusetts in 1620, in order
to express religious freedom. They wanted to practice Christian beliefs similar to ones practiced by
earlier Christians. Based on the views of the founding people of America, many would claim this as
support that America was founded as a Christian nation. Fast forward to the late 1700 s, where both
the Declaration of Independence and The United States Constitutionhad been written. These
documents both showed signs of a Christian foundation with multiple references to God. As stated
in the Declaration, [They] hold

The Effects Of Radioactive Wastes On The Environment
Introduction
Radiation in the environment is widespread and a necessary process for the existence of life. We
encounter it from natural sources like rocks, soils and the sun1,2 and from modern technology such
as computed tomography better known as CT scan, and nuclear power plants. Radiation from
sunlight is essential but too much of it can be harmful, just as the use of radiation in CT scans.
Computed tomography can provide lifesaving information about disease but in high doses can also
cause disease. 1,2
One of the topics that every so often pops up in the news is radioactive waste management and
protecting the public against the hazards of radioactive waste from power plants and other facilities
that produce radioactive waste. People ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Background, Origin and Threats
The nuclear age began on those faithful days in August 1945 when the United States dropped two
atomic bombs, one in Hiroshima and the other in Nagasaki, Japan bringing an end to the Second
World War. With this new age also came about the United Nations (UN), which established the UN
Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) so they can address any concerns and problems that would
come from the atomic energy breakthrough.3 In 1953, President Dwight D. Eisenhower addressed
the world and spoke about Atoms for Peace and in 1957 this led to the establishment of the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).3
In 1946 the US Congress established the Atomic Energy Act of 1946 and was regulated by the
Atomic Energy Commission. 3,4 This was later replaced by the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 that
led to the development and use of nuclear power commercially. 5 Currently there are approximately
439 nuclear reactors that produce about 16 percent of the electricity around the world, and nine
countries get over 40 percent of their energy from nuclear power production. 3
Once the IAEA was created its mission was to safeguard the international community by ensuring
that nuclear power was used in a safe and peaceful manner. In

Pollution Of The Air During The United States
The large majority of todays cars and trucks travel by using internal combustion engines that
burn fossil fuels and gasoline. A variety of emissions are polluted into the atmosphere when
burning gasoline to power cars and trucks. Emissions that are released directly from cars and
trucks into the atmosphere are the primary cause of car pollution but it still causes pollution the
air during the manufacturing and refueling processes. Primary pollution from motor vehicles is
pollution that is emitted directly into the atmosphere where as secondary pollution is caused
from chemical reactions between pollutants after they have been released into the air at least 92
million Americans still live in areas with chronic smog problems. The U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency predicts that by 2010, even with pollution controls more than 93 million
people will live in areas that violate health standards for ozone (urban smog) and more than 55
million Americans will suffer from hazardous levels of fine particle pollution, which is
especially dangerous to children and senior citizens. While new trucks and cars emit about 90
percent fewer pollutants than they did 30 years ago total annual vehicle miles driven have
increased by more than 140 percent since 1970 and are expected to increase another 25 percent by
2010. The emission reductions from individual vehicles have not adequately kept pace with the
increase in miles driven. As a result cars and trucks are still the largest single

Violent Video Games Do NOT Contribute to Youth Violence...
Although violent video games are thought to encourage real world violence, they actually help to
prevent it. I am focusing on violent video games and how they affect juveniles because I feel that
this issue needs to be looked at in the criminal justice community. It is an unnecessary distraction to
blame the actions of a disturbed youth on a form of entertainment that has been used by millions of
people without incident. A review article published in The Psychiatric Quarterly found that many
studies which claim to indicate an increase in aggression due to video games are, in fact, biased!
Once the bias is taken into account, the studies no longer find any correlation between youths who
play violent video games and youths who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their research of violent videogames and the effect on children, they have found that the
simplistic belief that exposure to media violence will lead directly to individual violence is clearly
wrong. (Kutner, Olsen, 2008) I am going to ask you to look deeper than this. I assert that although
violent video games are thought to encourage real world violence, they actually help to prevent it.
Level 1: What Games Can Do For You
Video game violence does not cause youth violence and in fact may help to curb this violence.
Violent video games have never been proven to cause youth violence. One of the most looked at
franchises in video game history is Grand Theft Auto (GTA). However, since GTA hit the scene
in a big way in 2001, youth violent crime has actually decreased! (Snyder, Sickmund, 2006) By
2003 the GTA franchise had already sold 22 million copies worldwide since the release of GTA
III in 2001. (Take Two Interactive, 2004) GTA games have violence, prostitution, and offensive
language. I believe that allowing adolescents to play these games works as a method of
relaxation and release of stress. Teens and violence have gone hand in hand for years. In the
1990s youth violence hit an all time high. (Snyder, Sickmund, 2006) Since the release of GTA III
we have seen a decrease in youth violence. I believe that the reason for this centers around

Impairment In Iowana Essay
Currently, Iowa has some of the worst waters in the nation. The Clean Water Act requires states to
biannually test surface water to determine impairments. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources
defines impairment as A waterbody is impaired when its water quality does not fully support that
waterbody s designated uses for human contact, aquatic life, or drinking water. They note that an
impairment on one part of a stream or river does not necessarily mean that at other points of the
waterbody it is constituted as impaired. The meaning deals with what the waterbody is designated
for and whether it meets the standards set for that use. The amount of Iowa water bodies listed as
impaired is very high, but there are also many bodies that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The options we have available to alleviate this situation are few. One option, considered by many
is simply to do nothing. This is advanced by many who believe that since we can treat the water
we should not be placing any more burden upon our farmers. Most Republicans in the state
legislature believe this is the best idea, because it is better to have the Des Moines Water Works to
have to pay to fix the water than to place costly measure upon farmers and hurt out economy.
However, this option does not fix our increasingly polluted water, and does not help fix the
increasing Dead Zone.
DMWW already tried suing upstream farmers and counties to have their runoff under the Clean
Water Act however, the judge declared that the issue should be left to the state legislature. Those
listed in the lawsuit were farmers located in the counties of Buena Vista, Calhoun, and Sac, each
in Northern Iowa and feeding waters into the Raccoon River. Because this legal action was
thrown out, the judicial approach is an unlikely path for any future policy change in this instance.
Because of the judge s ruling that the legislature is the only way to change this, that means a bill
is how it will have to be fixed. The best option to alleviate farm runoff would be to impose similar
regulations to what the state of Minnesota has done. The

How Did Albert Einstein Change The World
Albert Einstein
Have you ever heard the bowling ball and trampoline analogy, if you roll a bowling ball onto a
trampoline it will roll into the middle. Then if you were to roll some billiard balls behind it they
would curve in towards the bowling ball. Albert Einstein is important because of all the changes
he has made to the world of science and the military, with the Theory of Relativity, the E=Mc2,
and the atomic bomb. In 1915 Einstein had first proposed the Theory of Relativity, in 1905 is
when the E=Mc2 equation was created, and on July 16, 1945 the atomic bomb had been invented.
All of these things were factors in how Einstein changed the world. There are so many ways people
can change the world such as helping the environment and donating to charity, but the way Albert

Contemporary Ancient Myth in Ovid s Echo and Narcissus and Wilde s Dorian Gray
Each time a story is told, elements of the original are often changed to suit new situations and
current societies, or to offer a new perspective. Over the centuries, Ovid s tale of Echo and
Narcissus has been told many times to new audiences, and in the late nineteenth century, it took the
form of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Echo and Narcissus is the tale of a beautiful boy who fell in

Basil, the painter of Dorian s portrait, causes the innocent Dorian to realize his beauty when
shown his painting. Like Narcissus, Dorian becomes vain and self absorbed as a result of
recognizing his physical magnificence. Under the influence of Lord Henry, Dorian throws off all
moral restraint and lives a life of passionate self indulgence (Miller 384). Therefore, the lives of
both Narcissus and Dorian are shaped by the actions of their mentors.
In adapting Basil s persona from his mythological counterpart Tiresias, Wilde alters the original
character to illustrate how Basil s excessive admiration of Dorian led to the youth s eventual
demise. While Tiresias played only an indirect role in Narcissus life by foreseeing his future,
Basil actively leads Dorian to his corruption. Basil Hallward s extreme fondness for Dorian
arises from the inspiration that Dorian s beauty and purity provides in the expression of his art.
Basil says to Dorian, I quite admit that I adored you madly, extravagantly, absurdly...you became
to me the visible incarnation of that unseen ideal whose memory haunts us artists like an exquisite
dream (Wilde 126). These qualities in Dorian inspire Basil to visualize a new style of art which
fuses classical and romantic elements and harmonizes body and soul (Koll 155). Basil argues that

Marketing Is The Success Of A Business
(Mindtools.com, 2015) Putting the right product in the right place, at the right price, at the right
time . It s quite straightforward, you simply need to make an item that a specific group of
individuals need, put it or sell it somewhere where those same individuals visit consistently, and
value it at a level which coordinates the quality they understand they get of it; and do all at a time
they will all want to purchase it. At that point you have it made!
(Toolkit.smallbiz.nsw.gov.au, 2015)Marketingis integral to the success of a business, large or small,
with its primary focus on quality, consumer value and customer satisfaction.
There s a great deal of truth in this thought. In any case, a great deal of diligent work needs to go
into figuring out what clients need, and recognizing where they do their shopping. At that point
you have to make sense of how to deliver the product at a value that speaks to esteem to them, and
get it all to meet up at the basic time.
In any case, on the off chance that you get only one component wrong, it can spell catastrophe.
You could be left selling a car with great fuel efficiency in a nation where fuel is extremely cheap;
or distributed a textbook after the beginning of the new school year, or offering a product at a
value that is too high or too low to pull in the target audience.

mentally challenged people. (Lewis, 2006) The public is now able to view mentally handicapped

The ranch owner s daughter in law in Of Mice and Men is very compassionate and inquisitive
towards Lennie. She is very lonely and Lennie was willing to listen due to his infatuation with
her beauty. George had warned Lennie to stay away from her, as she would lead to something
bad due to the jealousy her husband exhibited toward her. The woman, however, appeals to
Lennie s childish side and she coerces him to be her friend. This proves to be a grave mistake in
the end. Another similarity between the two movies is the fact that the duos are living in search
of their dreams. The dream in Rain Man at first is based on the inheritance. Charlie s plan is to
become Raymond s custodial guardian in order to get his part of the money. As the story
continues, Charlie comes to love and respect Raymond as the brother he never knew. His
question at the beginning of the story, Why didn t somebody tell me I had a brother? was very
symbolic of his perception. (Levinson, 1988) He made no comment about the fact that his brother
was in an institution, just the fact that he had a brother. The dream the show hinges on after
brotherly connections are made became one of family. Charlie wanted to care for Raymond and
help him succeed in life. Dreams George and Lennie also based their lives on achieving a dream.

that, but won Academy Awards for Best Cinematography and Best Sound. Coppola can not take all
the credit for this enlightening movie. The film was loosely based off of Joseph Conrads Heart of
Darkness. Though Conrad was not credited in Apocalypse Now, his novella has a great impact on
Coppola s cinematic masterpiece. Captain Benjamin Willard of Apocalypse Now and Heart of
Darkness s Marlow are very much alike. Both are sent on a mission to find Kurtz, a well respected
man. In the novella, Kurtz is an exceptional ivory trader and not only a musician, but a... Show

And good does not always triumph, General Corman informs Willard of the dangers of mankind.
The people who should be most civilized act barbaric. The Ninth Air Calvary attacks innocent,

The Congo of Africa and the deep jungle of Cambodia are places of corruption. Marlow and

The Tale Of Genji By Murasaki Shikibu
Literature is a form of communication that demonstrates ideas. Literature can be anything that is
written such as, poetry, stories, letters...etc. Communities around the world practice different
traditions and the people within those communities live a particular lifestyle that depends on their
social habits, religion, and their native language For example, Japan is notorious for its
unprecedented culture and traditions that have been conserved by the Japanese people for
thousands of years. Japanese natives execute these particular attributes and values that have evolved
from classical literature. One aspect that has had great impact and influence on Japanese customs
and ideals is Literature.
Japanese literature represents many cultures and traditions that have been cultivated in Japan. For
example, the Tale of Genji was written early in the eleventh century by Murasaki Shikibu and is
considered the world s first novel. The Tale of Genji was an important book at the time because it
was the first novel ever written and was a prominent tale among the Heian court. The novel
illustrates the rise of Prince Genji , as the son of a minor consort of the emperor, to a higher
stature in society. The Tale of Genji symbolized the preeminent values and moral principles that
society admired and honored during the Heian Period. Life during the Heian Period was nothing
short of remarkable. Society accepted and embraced certain regimes that were established and

Stylistic Devices In Sonnet 60
Thus, just as in music where the combination of the various parts creates something that transcends
the individual elements, the relationship between the different members of a loving family creates
something that surpasses the sum of the individuals; that although being many , together as a
family they seem one . Therefore, by comparing the harmony of notes of a basic chord in music
with that achieved by the union of father, mother, and child, the poet tries his best to encourage and
convince the youth to marry and have a child, so that he too can experience this exaltation of
harmony. Yet, the poet makes it clear to the youth that he is aware of his stubbornness as music, the
true concord of well tuned sounds, seems to scold the youth... Show more content on

In the second quatrain, the journey of human life is described in three steps: first, like the sun
breaking at dawn, there is birth, then at noon, as the sun is seen crawling upwards towards
maturity and is crowned , i.e. as humans finally reach the top of the hill in their life s journey,
Crooked eclipses (obstacles) threaten one s glorious feat. Through these very vivid images of the
degradation of time, the speaker s voice emerges invincible in the end as he proudly declares in the
couplet, that he has found a way to confound time through his writing. Consequently, the youth s
beauty shall transcend time and space as the poet s praise in verse, instead of the youth s children,
will be the vehicle through which his beauty will live forever. Thus, the poet convinces both the

The Effects Of Ufos On People Essay
The Effects of UFO s on People nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Almost every civilization in history
that has kept a written history has recorded the sightings of strange objects and lights in the

flying objects (UFO s) or flying saucers. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The effects of extra

Many investigators have tried to solve some peculiar questions about UFO s, but many of their
conclusions cannot be proven. In 1968 the United States Air Force asked Edward U. Condon, a
physicist at the University of Colorado, to head a panel studying the claims of extraterrestrial
crafts. (Unidentified Flying Objects, Encarta encyclopedia) The committee s final report was
reviewed by a special committee of the National Academy of Sciences and released in early
1969. The 37 scientists who contributed to the report interviewed UFO witnesses and studied
physical and photographic evidence. The report, also known as the Condon Report, concluded
that not only was there no evidence of extraterrestrial control of UFOs but also that no further
UFO studies were needed. Their advice was accepted by the United States, but for other
independent laboratories it was not enough. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Whether or not a person
believes UFO s are, in fact, real or not is probably because of influence from the media. For
instance, the smash hit movie Independence Day was a movie about aliens attacking Earth so they
can keep it for themselves. The company that made the movie, FOX, has been promoting extra
terrestrial ideas to bring media attention to UFO s. The company bought the stretch of highway 375

They decide to travel to California along with many other in search for jobs and homes, and look
for a great future. In the time considered, The Grapes of Wrath, gives a shockingly real view on the

Christian symbolism effectively in order to shape and reinforce the theme of the dignity of wrath.

In the novel, Rose of Sharon is vigilant of her unborn child and symbolizes regrowth and hope
for the Joad s. It is heartbreaking as the reader finds out her child is a stillborn. As she finds her

of the novel, Rose of Sharon loosened one side of the blanket and bared her breast.... She
squirmed closer and pulled his head close.... Her hand move behind his head and supported it.
Her fingers moved gently in his hair. She looked up and across the barn, her lips came together

that the Rose of Sharon is pleased with helping others regardless of her dead child and suffering
to live a happy life. This topic is further examined by Eric W. Carlson in his essay, Symbolism in
the Grapes of Wrath when he mentions, Rosasharn symbolically transmutes her maternal love to a
love of all people. As implied by her smile hair stroking gesture, Rosasharn, whose maternal instinct
has been frustrated, feels a momentary satisfaction (Carlson 174). After the death of her child, Rose

Golden Age Of Piracy Research Paper
Pirate Essay
Pirates to most people resemble an iconic stereotype. This is that hollywood image that depicts
pirates wearing eyepatches, walking with wooden legs, and out in the sea searching for treasure.
Although some of these aspects resemble a Pirate the history of Pirates and Piracy in the sea is
quite interesting. Piracy in the sea dates back long ago around the 2nd century BC. According to the
website Famous Pirates the authors state that Piracy came into existence shortly after the creation
of first organized naval trading. This would make sense since these merchant ships would carry
valuable goods around unprotected. Meaning that eventually somebody would figure out that it s
possible to raid these ships and loot all of the the valuables. Piracy carried on for several centuries,
seeing activity in the Mediterranean, and even in Southeast Asia. ... Show more content on

Investigate the Effect of Varying Solution Concentration on Osmosis in a Potato Chip

A definition of osmosis is: the movement of water molecules from an area of high water

In a high concentration of water the amount of solute (e.g. sugar) is low. These solutions are
usually known as a dilute or weak solution.
But in a low concentration of water the amount of solute (e.g. sugar) is high. These solutions are
usually known as concentrated or strong solutions. When a weak solution and a strong solution are

Using this information, I have come to the prediction that with a high concentration of sucrose in
the water, the mass of the potato will decrease and the cells will become plasmolysed. In a low
concentration of sucrose the cells will become turgid.
Preliminary work
I have based my prediction on a prelimary experiment we did amongst our class, this experiment
involved us placing potato chips into various concentrations of sucrose solution and observing the
potato s change in mass according to the solution they were placed in.
Carrying out a preliminary experiment helped me to decide how long to leave the potato chips in
the sucrose solution. In the preliminary I left them for 24hrs however I found this an insufficient
time and this helped me to decide on leaving the potato chips for 2hrs in the final experiment.

The Witch s Hammer Summary
The Witch s Hammer, or The Malleus Maleficarum, was first published in 1487 in Germany. In
German language it is called the Hexenhammer. It served as a guidebook for Inquisitors during
Inquisition. With the help of this book they were able to identify and prosecute the Witches. It was
written by the Dominican monks Heinrich Kramer and presumably also James Sprenger, who
assembled many fairy tales and magic stories, nightmares, hearsay, confessions and accusations and
put this all together as factual information. It is still not completelly confirmed, that Sprenger was

The book has three sections the first one is theoreticall, discussing the question of whether

Obesity And The Body Weight Ideals
During conversations, one will realizes that the term obese is used by people to describe those
appearing to be fatter than a criteria they consider as being normal. This then leads to the
following question; what do the terms average weight or normal size refer to? Does the term
average refer to average weight, width or the fat content in the body? Whether the definition is
based on human width, abdominal diameter or weight, etc., the point of reference or datum
depends on the observer and may vary from one individual to another. What is referred to as
normal may not have definite dimensional measures but just arbitrary. Obesity to most people
globally may be based on societal body weight ideals. Whatever be the definition of obesity any
society, the fact remains that, when has a BMI of over twenty nine, health problems begin to

The Causes Of President Herbert Hoover And The Great...
The reasoning behind what actually caused the great depression is contentious. Most Americans
will cite the stock market crash of 1929 caused the Great Depression. On the other hand, if one
were to ask an economists, many opinions and facts will be brought to light. US policy is large
factor when discussing the causations.
Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States of America (1929 1933) had a main role in
changing US policy. President Hoover, was born in 1874, grew up in the state of Oregon and
graduated as a mining engineer from Stanford. He spent most of his life before Presidency
abroad. Hoover was present, before during and after the Boxer Rebellion in China. He worked to
feed Belgium s during their German occupied years of World War I. Then Hoover moved onto
provide relief work in Russia until the United States entered the war. President Wilson appointed
him head of Food Administration, then the American Relief Administration. In 1920 he began to
serve as the Commerce Secretary under President Harding and the continued with President
Coolidge. When he became the Republican Presidential Nominee in 1928 Herbert Hoover stated,
We in America today are nearer to the final triumph over poverty than ever before in the history of
any land . A great statement, however months later the stock market crashed and the United States
went into the Great Depression, or what is considered a lost decade.

Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death
Emily Dickinson s Because I could not stop for Death is a remarkable masterpiece that exercises
thought between the known and the unknown. In Dickinson s poem, Because I could not stop
Death, there is much impression in the tone, in symbols and in the use of imagery that over flow
with creativity. One might undoubtedly agree to an eerie, haunting, if not frightening, tone and use
of symbolism in Dickinson s poem.
Dickinson uses controlling adjectives slowly and passed to create a tone that seems rather placid.

The first site We passed was the School, where children strove (9). Because it deals with an
important symbol, the Ring this first scene is perhaps the most important. On this invited journey,
one vividly sees Children playing. Laughing and singing. This scene conveys emotions and moods
through verbal pictures.
The imagery in the final scene, We passed the Setting Sun (12) is very emotional. One can
clearly picture a warm setting sun, perhaps, over a grassy horizon. The idea of a setting sun,
aftermath a fact of slumber in a cold dark night. When Dickinson passed the Setting Sun, night
drew nigh and it was time to go home and sleep. Symbolically, her tour of life was over; it was
now time for Eternity death. While sight seeing in the carriage, one can gather, by the setting of
the sun, that this ride was glimpse of life flashing before her eyes; just as said to happen before you
die. Lines 14 and 15 seem to support this idea. The dews drew quivering and chill / For only
Gossamer, my Gown (14 15). This indicates a pleasant time cut short. Before she knew it, the cold
Dew[s] (14) had set in.
The imagery in this transcendent poem shines great light on some hidden similarities between life
and death. This poem exercises both the thoughts and emotions of readers. Eternity and Death are
two important characters in Dickinson s Because I could

  • 2. After School Programs Essay Daniel Parra Mrs. Padgett English IV, Period 2 7 December 2010 After School Programs The impact that after school programs have on young children affects every aspect of their lives. Although some may feel after school programs are a waste of time and money, it has been proven that they improve children s social and academic skills. Without these special designed programs, children may not be able to develop into the kinds of adults which will benefit society in the future. It is important that society understand the importance of after school programs. To cut back on after school programs to better the economy is only taking away from the children and opening new doors to them, which can ultimately lead them to jail or possibly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Learning how to communicate is often overlooked but its an essential skill for anyone. An example of how important this truly is would be a job interview. Everyone at some point will have to interview for a job to support themselves and their family. At most interviews, employers are looking for people who seem to communicate well with others and can present themselves by communicating their attributes. These communications skills that are necessary aren t easy to come by. Although one may think it would be easy, many people wont be able to successfully land a job because of communication. One person may be the most qualified, but if you can not communicate well then it will not matter. After school programs can also socially benefit a child. Programs are often designed to teach a child how to be a leader as well as a team player. Throughout one s life there will be situations where one will need to work in a group as well as lead a group of people. After school programs involving sports, really hone in on a child s ability to behave and interact in a group environment. The participants must work together in order to achieve a common goal which is to ultimately win. In doing so, they must interact and communicate in a way which will be most beneficial for the entire group. This occurs not only in sports but in everyday life. • 3. Analysis of Bluebird Essay Analysis of Bluebird English A. Bluebird is a poem written by the modern poet Charles Bukowski and published in 1992 in Bukowski s collection of poems titled The Last Night of the Earth Poems . The poem is about the vulnerability, innermost torment and the suppression of an emotional and fragile personality symbolized through the image of a Bluebird hidden inside the speakers mind. The composition of the poem is very loose with only two stanzas and a lot of verse lines, some of which only consists of one word. The verse lines with only one word suggest that the reader also has to interpret the way the poem is read; not only the message and theme. Bluebird also has an unusual graphical look that confine, just like Bukowski s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He saw the inside of most American bars, was abused as a child and had a face that was scared by pocks. Against all odds Bukowski became a renowned, but provocative, poet. The stigma created by his history and habits, is a stigma that saw Bukowski as a whoring and numb figure, but in the symbolic value of a bluebird Bukowski tries to tell us that he has a caring personality hidden deep inside him. Bukowski feared the reaction from the public if he let the inner bluebird out, but the inner bluebird also tormented Bukowski himself. It s not only the society s stigma that made Bukowski keep the bluebird in, but also the very self destructive view Bukowski had on himself. A self destructive view, backed up by his self destructive drinking and treatment of his own body. there s a bluebird in my heart that/wants to get out/but I m too tough for him,/ say, stay in there, I m not going/to let anybody see you. He tries to suppress the bluebird s existence through means of denying it, using escapist techniques such as drinking, smoking and participation in prostitution to deter his mind from the presence. there s a bluebird in my heart that/wants to get out/but I pour whiskey on him and inhale/cigarette smoke/and the whores and the bartenders/and the grocery clerks/never know that/he s/in there Only in moments of total solitude, in his bed, he lets his little bluebird out of ... In the Movie The X Men and the book The Chrysalids they show a wide variety of different types of discrimination. Discrimination comes in different ways from verbally to physically. The theme of discrimination against mutants shows throughout the Book and Movie as Humans Vs Mutants. If you take a glance at The Chrysalids book and then take a glance at The X Men movie they seem that they don t have anything a like, but if you look in deeper into the story they have a lot of similarities. • 5. Analysis Of Cooley s The Looking Glass Self According to Cooley s The Looking Glass Self , the degree of personal insecurity one displays in social situations is determined by how they believe others think of them. In other words, how we see ourselves, according to Cooley, does not come from who we really are but rather how we believe other people see us. There are three steps to Cooley s claim: first, we imagine how others see us. Second, we imagine how others are judging us. Lastly, we react accordingly. The gendered commodification of children toys sets the stage by giving children at a very young age preset judgements of how their supposed to act in society. • 6. Applying The Following Method To Calculate The Optimal... CE2.18 To increase the BER performance, I applied the following method to calculate the optimal rotation angle (Оё_opt) for the interleaving system applied to MQAM/MPSK schemes. The selection of optimal rotation angle is based on finding the expression of average symbol error probability (P_s) corresponding to Оё given certain signal to noise ratio (SNR). I found out that the optimal rotation angle (Оё_opt) approximately around 8.6 degree will maximize the BER performance. CE2.19 I noticed that the simulating process was a time consuming process due to iterative decoding. I observed that for the calculation of probability of the binary index for kth bit, large computational load required. As a result, memory usage was increased due to... I designed the normal BCH encoding process by using three steps using the above figure. 1) I used a generator polynomial according to the DVB T2 standard table the error correcting capability of DVB T2 is equal to 12. 2) I divided the message sequence using the generator polynomial in a Galois field with О±=2 and the remainder resulted in the parity check sequence. 3) I appended the parity check sequence to the message sequence to get the BCH encoded message C2.25 I calculated fast encoding process using G(X) = [Ik в‹®P]. The size of G(x) is Nbch Г— Kbch whereas letter I was the identity matrix with the size of Kbch Г— Kbch and P was the redundancy matrix , the size of the matrix was Kbch Г— (Nbch в€’ Kbch) and Nbch was the length of the binary BCH code. C2.26 I was concerned about the implementation of the fast encoding process as it was required to build a huge matrix, which would over exceed the range. I reshaped this huge matrix with the help of Matlab tool. Based on the simulation results, I concluded that longer parity check will provide better the error detection as well as correction and can pre calculate the parity check sequence. C2.27 I was assigned to design the BCH decoder. I created a syndrome generation by substituting 2t roots of the original message in the polynomial form of the received codeword. I used these ... He was introduced a lot of inventions by Theuth who was known as the god of inventions. Theuth declared that his inventions would be available extensively to Egypt s people. One of the Theuth s inventions was writing and he believed that it can help Egyptians to get better with their wisdom and memory. Whereas Thamus contradicted his approach and said this invention can stop people to practice their memory and they can get forgetful and can be dependent on this invention. Harold Innis used the term Knowledge Monopolies in his book The Bias of Communication which also conveys the same message. In this article, Author gave an example of Television that tells that TV has become very important part for many people s life and it can gradually end the profession of teaching. One more example, he mentioned in his article was about computer technology that has made a group of people more powerful than those people whose privacy is risked because of them. This is all because of technology which remained the same but has different effects in different ways. We see how violence has affected his life and other people s perspective of him. He started out in the Army at a very young age and carried out the harsh tasks that he was given, no matter how cruel they were. Longoria is a strong minded person. For him to carry out some of the assignments he was given, it takes a different kind of person. For example, the incident with the people in the village. He murdered a whole village of innocent people. To me, this shows that Longoria is ruthless. In a sense, I would almost say that he has lost his mind. After years of killing like he did, how does he not have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Most people that must go through and witness the things like Longoria are scarred for the rest of their life. • 23. The Beloved Country By Alan Paton Family in Cry, the Beloved Country One cannot run from hardships, for they occur every day, appear suddenly, and can quickly consume hope. Instead one must face these difficulties and overcome them. However, to rise above obstacles alone would only cause further misery and despair. The struggler s family should rally behind him to comfort and assist him in his time of need. In Cry, the Beloved Country, a 1948 contemporary novel, Alan Paton uses parallelism to emphasize the importance of family because when individuals encounter hardships they need support from others to help them. Primarily, tribal families encourage those who suffer with kind words and actions. Stephen Kumalo, a man filled with pain and suffering , speaks of the hope he receives from others when he says, There is my wife, and you, my friend, and these people who welcomed me, and the child who is so eager to be with us here in Ndotsheni so in my suffering I can believe (261). Paton uses the parallel structure polysyndeton to show how many people from one s family will go out of their way to lift one s spirits and renew one s faith in God. Cry, the Beloved Country shows readers that even in difficult times one can find family eager to provide solace to those in need. Whenever there comes trouble, one can always count on family to rekindle lost hope. Although family cannot entirely relieve one of misery, their presence can soothe the pain. Have you ever wondered why people in the American society think any kind of demonstrated behavior is acceptable? The Christian views once instilled in United States citizens have grown sparse today, in comparison to what they once were. Opinions of many people have changed concerning multiple issues. Many founding views were centered on Godly principles as portrayed in the U.S. Constitution, and as well as the Declaration of Independence. As society continues to argue over the inclusion of religionin politics, members of society reap the effects in many areas, particularly in the education system. I strongly agree that the United Stateswas founded as a Christian nation. Religion has been a large part of this country, starting with the very first people to arrive in America, the Pilgrims. Breaking away from the Church of England, the Pilgrims settled in what is now known as Massachusetts in 1620, in order to express religious freedom. They wanted to practice Christian beliefs similar to ones practiced by earlier Christians. Based on the views of the founding people of America, many would claim this as support that America was founded as a Christian nation. Most Republicans in the state legislature believe this is the best idea, because it is better to have the Des Moines Water Works to have to pay to fix the water than to place costly measure upon farmers and hurt out economy. However, this option does not fix our increasingly polluted water, and does not help fix the increasing Dead Zone. DMWW already tried suing upstream farmers and counties to have their runoff under the Clean Water Act however, the judge declared that the issue should be left to the state legislature. Those listed in the lawsuit were farmers located in the counties of Buena Vista, Calhoun, and Sac, each in Northern Iowa and feeding waters into the Raccoon River. Because this legal action was thrown out, the judicial approach is an unlikely path for any future policy change in this instance. Because of the judge s ruling that the legislature is the only way to change this, that means a bill is how it will have to be fixed. The best option to alleviate farm runoff would be to impose similar regulations to what the state of Minnesota has done. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Contemporary Ancient Myth in Ovid s Echo and Narcissus and Wilde s Dorian Gray Each time a story is told, elements of the original are often changed to suit new situations and current societies, or to offer a new perspective. Over the centuries, Ovid s tale of Echo and Narcissus has been told many times to new audiences, and in the late nineteenth century, it took the form of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Echo and Narcissus is the tale of a beautiful boy who fell in love with his reflection in a pond, and spurned others who loved him because he was so fixated upon himself. Under the influence of Lord Henry, Dorian throws off all moral restraint and lives a life of passionate self indulgence (Miller 384). Therefore, the lives of both Narcissus and Dorian are shaped by the actions of their mentors. In adapting Basil s persona from his mythological counterpart Tiresias, Wilde alters the original character to illustrate how Basil s excessive admiration of Dorian led to the youth s eventual demise. While Tiresias played only an indirect role in Narcissus life by foreseeing his future, Basil actively leads Dorian to his corruption.
