Myth Of Truth Analysis
Truth has always been a very vague and grey area for many people, it s something that cannot be
agreed on by every single person. Each person has their own set of past experiences that have built
upon their morals, values and ethics. This ties in with their overall idea of why they view truth and lies
in the way that do. Professor Hedrick is interesting in the way that she teaches literature through the
historical point of view, proving background information that enables students to build upon this
background knowledge and find the interpretation for that piece of literature. Much like our differing
viewpoints on the concepts behind truth and lies can be connected to differing interpretations over a
certain work of literature. But when truth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knapp, et all, Lying, 54 The idea of concept of lying, deception and truth as a grey area was
introduced and throughout the interview Professor Hedrick stuck to her stance of truth depending on
the person in question. Our journey through life has heavily influenced the ever changing stance over
truth. Knapp, et all, Lying, 57 Throughout the interview she spoke about her seeing changes in the
students, in their ideas, how they evolve in just a semester. Ethics to her is like a scale, it needs to be
constantly adjusted, adapted and balanced. Much like her students writing styles, she sees their
speech, their viewpoints over the world change drastically in just a semester, some students regress
and others thrive. Their interpretations open up and they come up to her with what they thought but
she is no stranger to the lies students tell. In her long career, she has had many outlandish lies told to
her, what students will do to get out of trouble or an extension on an exam or extra credit. The idea of
lying to an authority figure that could end in severe consequences is a lie that many students would
not think of before but when they enter the college scene, they change; some students would do
anything to get a little extra credit. It s part of her job to be vigilant for the possible lies students may
tell in an attempt to take advantage of her. This

Changes In Joan Aiken s Short Story Third Wish
Joan Aiken short story, The Third Wish, takes place in the forest of Savernake. Mr.Peters is miserable
about life and wishes for a wife to be beautiful as the forest. Leita once was a swan until Mr.Peters
turns her into a human by a wish. She misses her sister and her old life in the forest. The Forest king is
a person that gives Mr.Peters the three wishes. The Forest king isn t really a substandard guy, but he
does try to depress the narrator and is disrespectful. By using description and feelings/emotions, Joan
Aiken creates the lesson that it takes some time to be use to change.
Change shines through the short story as a central issue impacting all characters in the story. Because
Mr.Peters is so caught up in wishes, he wishes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The descriptive sentence, But I miss the old life in the forest, the cool grass the mist rising off the river
at sunrise and the feel of the water sliding over my feathers as my sister and I drifted along the stream,
shows that leita misses her old life in the forest with her sister (1). Mr.Peters is so desperate for wife
and doesn t realise that Leita is miserable and misses her old life. Aiken uses this descriptive imagery
sentence to show how miserable Leita is, as Mr.Peters turns her into a human. Her feelings/emotions is
not the only way she utilizes craft to thrive this idea. The description in the short story shows Leite s
miserableness. Aiken explains how miserable Leita is, even though she is inlove with Mr.Peters. They
feel miserable Leita, what is it? he asked, very troubled. This is my sister, she answered. I can t bear
being separated from her. Now he understood that Leita was really a swan from the forest, and this
made him very sad because when a human being marries a bird it always leads to sorrow (2). These
quotes show the similarities Leita and Mr.Peters are feeling, and makes them even more miserable.
Although some may agree that this feelings/emotions for each other is simply to allow the reader to
feel what kind of experience both of them are going through. The feelings/emotions Leita has for her
sister shows that clearly she misses her sister and her old life. The author also describes Leita in a way
that makes the reader feel miserable for her. Aiken uses feelings/emotions, This is my sister, she
answered. I can t bear being separated from her. to show Leita as dispirit and miserable (2). She is
portrayed as a miserable wife who misses her old life. This shows the pain Leita is feeling as a result
of the adeptness in her life. Along with the descriptive sentences, these feelings/emotions create Aiken

1960 s Rocket History
Working Title
As of 2017, the United States of America is still the only country in the world to put men on the moon
due to the many rockets they made during the 1960 s. These rockets were some revolutionary pieces
of technology during the 1960 s because America went from almost nothing on rockets to men on the
moon. But there are some rockets that outshone the others because those rockets did great things or
they came back from near extinction. The U.S. space program made many different types of rockets
during the 1960 s, but the best type of rockets were the Delta rockets, the Atlas rockets, and the Saturn
rockets.

Summary Of To The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf
Reading the novel To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf was hard labor. Every page I turned made me
feel that I was in a different place at a different time. Due to the lack of its plot and entertainment, this
novel, unfortunately, would immediately fail to engage teenagers, as well as other readers, who are not
as interested as Virginia Woolf, to study the humans consciousness and the way time moves over the
courses of our days.
In our everyday lives, we always expect, including myself, to read a story that has a well structured
plot and that also brings us to a journey that will remain with us forever. While it is true that, I was
notified multiple times that modernist novels are texts that will either keep a person up all night
staring at the clock on the wall, pressing their back against the wall or pulling their skin off their
bones, I still expected to find a story in To The Lighthouse that unfolds through a chronological order
because there is always a cause and effect, a beginning, middle, and end, to every story. However, this
was not to be the case. Part one of the novel did not have a story at all. It was mainly characters
consciousness flowing into one another across the pages, because of that, I almost wanted to throw the
book in the air and even to burn it to dust. However, now that I am looking back, I would have never
picked up this book to read by the shore under the summer skies.
Despite the disorganization of part one, I managed to get through from page to

We are mirrors in the dark, covered in layers of dirt. We each have our own roles to fit into and that
includes our contribution to the Earth and our own society. Involvement in community service can
help us understand ourselves and see things more clearly. Community service allows us to labor away

Examples Of Montag s Dual Nature In Fahrenheit 451
The Dual Nature
Who is a hero? Who is a villain? Based on the Oxford Living Dictionary, a hero is a person who is
admired for his or her actions, while a villain is a criminal, therefore his or her actions are not
admired. Ray Bradbury, in his novel Fahrenheit 451, created a protagonist, Guy Montag, who is both a
hero and a villain. Bradbury illustrates Montag s dual nature through his actions in the book. He also
illustrates Montag s heroic nature through his relationship with Faber and his villain nature through his
relationship with Beatty.
In the novel, Bradbury illustrates Montag dual nature through his actions. He shows the two sides of
Montag s, how his actions are both considered moral and evil. In the beginning of the novel, Bradbury

In the book The Birth of Tragedy, Neitchez identifies two ways of thinking that present themselves in
art. The first is Dionysian which is intoxication, instinctual, intuitive, pertaining to the sensation of

exhaustion of possibilities, creation, separation from the chaos of life. The one element of Hip Hop

Unions and Political Economy
Union Articles Are union locals independent of employers or are they incorporated into the
management of the workplace? Union locals are not incorporated into the management of the
workplace. The most important objective of unions is to protect workers interests against management
s interests. This is because, in most cases, the interests of managers and those of workers are very
much different. Workers are interested in increasing their salaries, in reducing their volume of work,
and in improving workplace conditions. Managers are interested in increasing profits while reducing
investments. Therefore, negotiations must be made between the two parties. Workers must unite and
select certain people that can represent their interests in these negotiations. This is how unions were
developed. However, union locals are not independent of employers. This is because union members
and their leaders are employees of the company in case. The quality of union members and leaders is
added to the quality of employees, but this does not mean that union locals are independent of
employers. The power of employees against their employers can significantly increase when they are
union members. In addition to this, union leaders influence their members. The politics within unions
can take the form of democracies or oligarchies. In most cases, oligarchies are formed within union
members. This is usually the case when a small group of union members takes control of other
members, and

The Positive Impacts Of Community Development In South Africa
Community development around the world is being practised by various entities, addressing various
socio economic issues that are unique to different communities worldwide. According to
Bhattacharyya (2004), community development initiatives are dominant in democratic countries.
There are various initiatives that have led to significant shifts in the wellbeing of communities using
different development tools to develop communities around the world. South African, which is a
democratic country has one of the highest income gabs in the world. The country s income difference
is evident in many townships/rural areas around the country s underdeveloped communities. The
positive impact of community development may be seen in the fields of public health, micro macro
development, food and violence (Bhattacharyya, 2004).
Community development is multi faceted. Bhattacharyya (2004) argues that community development
is not a distinct field and that not everything that is being done by developers to improve communities
should not be regarded as community development. Bhattacharyya (2004) states that it should only be
regarded as community development if the improvement pursues solidarity and agency which can be
achieved through adhering to the principles of self help, felt needs and participation.
In previous community development research, Bhattacharyya (2004) finds that locality has been used
as a proxy for community development. He argues that it is becoming analytically irrelevant

In June, fighting erupted in the capital. One night was named quot;Noche Trista quot; meaning sad

Arkansas. This integration was a result of the Brown v. Board of Education ruling, which said
segregation of black and white students in schools, was unconstitutional. These nine students

On September 4th, 1957, Governor Faubus ordered the Arkansas National Guard to Little Rock
Central High school, preventing any of the Little Rock Nine from entering Central High. Elizabeth
Eckford was the only student that went to school on this day because of a lack of communication with
the other students. She arrived at the school alone and was antagonized by the angry mob. At first she
felt reassured when she saw the troops, whom she assumed were there to protect her...When she tried
to squeeze past a guard, He raised his bayonet, and then the other guards moved in. One can only
imagine what Eckford felt like, being completely alone in a mob of people screaming Lynch her! ,
only to realize the people you thought were there to protect you were actually not. The students finally
were able to enter the school on September 23rd, 1957. But the fight was not over. The Little Rock
Nine continued to face extreme harassment, both physical and verbal. Melba Pattillo recounted many
of these incidents in her book, Warriors Don t Cry. One that stuck out the most was when she
recounted going to bathroom, the one place her guard could not join her, and having girls scratch and
giggle outside the door. She writes, I promised myself I would drink less water so I wouldn t have to
take that risk so often. Her stories of the vulgar language and the harassment when the guard was or
wasn t around, shows the extreme condition she faced trying to make a charge for her generation. She
compares her experience in Central High to being soldier, just trying to survive. Another factor that
created this environment for the Little Rock Nine was the lack of discipline of students by teachers.
Pattillo writes about how her friend Minnijean Brown had faith in school officials, faith that they
would step in. She continued to count on them to respond with compassion to

Essay Internal Supplies by Kamp Motors
Case Study: Internal Supplies by Kamp Motors
CASE:
Involves two companies namely:
1. Vecu â–ª A French company that produces cars, Lorries, buses and agricultural machinery.
2. Kamp â–ª One of Vecu s subsidiaries â–ª An International leader in the field of engine production â–ª
Develops racing car engines for many years
Kamp produces four main types of car engines

In my own opinion the transfer price that Kamp should insist on for the Type 2A engine now is €3450
per unit. This is using the principle of the minimum transfer price which is the variable cost plus the
profit if it sells its engines externally then adds the cost of €200 of developing the Type 2A engine.
However in the future the price may increase because fixed cost will be added as capacity may
become a problem with the expected rise of demand for cars and engines, and also if Kamp is allowed
to sell externally the type 2, 3, and 4 engines, so the price in the future should be €4750.
The proposed transfer price now is also lower than the expected prices from Black and FER so it
should not be a problem with Guy Mercier who is pressuring Kamp to sell the engine at a reasonable
price so that he can raise profit and bonus for his division.
Problem No. 2
Please discuss the possibilities of increasing Kamp s profit by using the formula for basic cost per unit
and by reorganizing. Please use a concrete example to indicate how the board of Kamp can manipulate
the unit costs for the types 2, 3, and 4 by reorganizing its cost information system. How, do you think,
can the boards of the Vecu concern and the MB division determine whether Kamp manipulates data on
unit costs?

Spanish Financial Crisis
Spanish financial crisis
Introduction
(source: Wikipedia)
The 2008 2010 Spanish financial crisis is part of the world economic crisis of 2008. In Spain, the
crisis was generated by long term loans (commonly issued for 40 years), the building market crash
which included the bankruptcy of major companies, and a particularly severe increase in
unemployment, which rose to 13.9% in February 2009.
Spain continued the path of economic growth when the ruling party changed in 2004, keeping robust
GDP growth during the first term of prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, even though some
fundamental problems in the Spanish economy were already self evident. Among these, according to
the Financial Times, there was Spain s huge trade deficit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spain accounts for 11.5 percent of eurozone GDP while Greece only accounts for approximately 2.5
percent. Spain is the 4th largest economy in the 16 nation eurozone and it is the 10th largest economy
in the world. If the economy of Spain fails it will cause a shockwave that will be felt in every corner
of the globe. In fact, there are quite a few analysts that believe if Spain defaults it would ultimately
lead to the breakup of the eurozone.
So will the EU step up and bail out Spain? Well, there are rumors that EU officials have begun work
on a bailout package for Spain which is likely to run into the hundreds of billions of dollars, but on
Monday the European Commission, the Spanish government and the German government all denied
that the European Union was preparing a bailout for the Spanish economy.

#1) Even before this most recent crisis, unemployment in Spain was approaching Great Depression
levels. Spain now has the highest unemployment rate in the entire European Union. More than 20
percent of working age Spaniards were unemployed during the first quarter of 2010. If people aren t
working they can t pay taxes and they can t provide for their families.
#2) In an effort to stimulate the economy, Spain s socialist government has been spending

dictatorship. His goals for industrializations included unrealistic quotas for workers, peasants were
treated poorly and he created a secret police which terrorized citizens. George Orwell, angry that
people in Europe admired Soviet Russia, wrote Animal Farm as a critical novel about Joseph Stalin.
Many may argue that his novel is an inaccurate portrayal as Vladimir Lenin is omitted, however
George Orwell s Animal Farm is a valid representation of the events in the Russian Revolution as Old

Old Major was an aged boar who felt the need for change in manor farm. He introduces the theories
and ideas on which the rebellion is based and it is his intention to simplify it suitably so that the
animals can understand. He encourages a rebellion with his speech, in which he professes, All animals
are equal (Orwell 4). Old Major spoke of Animalism, where he expounds on equality, as no animal is
better than the other. Everyone is equal to each other, one of the main aspects of communism. This
corresponds to Marx s vision of communism where the proletariat is equal with the bourgeoisie as he
believes, class distinctions have disappeared (Marx 1848). Both focus on a classless society, where
everyone is equal. As Marx stood for the rights of the people, so Old Major intended to institute a
philosophy that would free the animals from human tyranny, creating an equal and fair system with no
class structure. Old Major dies before he can see his dreams become reality, similar as Karl Marx died
before his theories could change the face of history. Orwell shows how there are positive intentions
behind the ideas that spark revolutions however that does not always

Differences Between Religions And Religions
Sects are commonplace in many forms of faith, no matter the religion there are still beliefs that differ
from sect to sect. As with monotheistic religions such as Christianity, polytheistic religions like
Hinduism also consist of sects. First off, sects are sub groups of a religion that differ in beliefs and
these differing principles can be anything, such as the varying belief of who is considered the primary
deity or creator. In Hinduism alone there are four primary sects: Shivaism, Vaishnavism, Shaktism,
and Smartism. The difference between each sect is as previously mentioned, each variation believes in
differing principle supreme beings or deities. These four denominations are in complete contrast to
Christianity, in which there are a great deal more in number and with varying differences. As the third
largest religion in the world, after Christianity and Islam, the populations of the denominations would
be assumed to be evenly spread amongst the four, but that is not the case. Vaishnavites occupy a large
portion of followers with an astounding 70%, followed by Shivaites with 26%, and the other two
(Shaktites and Smartites) combining to form the remaining 4%. This highly skewed information is in
complete opposition to Christianity, of which has multiple sects which are further sorts into sub sects
and are move evenly spread. The reasoning behind the skewed numbers of believers can be primarily
attributed to the fact that Christianity sects differ so much more

The Sticky Web
What is the greatest innovation of the twentieth century? The web? Something about this cobweb just
captures the imagination of anyone who gets a glimpse of the possibilities made available. This has
led to people spending more and more time online. It has altered the very way that civilization
conveys basic day to day information. College students today have had easy access to the internet their
entire lifetime. Nevertheless, the disadvantages of this popular time passer are steadily increasing, as
the price for this activity we call surfing the web has evolved into more than just the currency and time
we spend each passing day.

iPods and other devices mean kids are online most of the day There is online crime and the kids are
exposed to this, which is a problem for them as their discretion is not mature enough. Unfiltered foul
and abbreviated language is being projected into the younger generation causing them to use these

Clearly, this poster supports the war efforts by encouraging the people of Canada to refrain from
talking about war, as spies that are associated with enemy countries could listen to their conversations
relating to war, and the spies could implement this information into their own war plans. Therefore,
this is a major issue that concerns Canada as Canadian civilians could leak out unwanted knowledge
to the enemy countries. The historical knowledge that the viewer must need to fully interpret my

of the enemy. As a result, the government passed the War Measures Act, which granted them full

This issue among Canada grew out of proportion as thousands of suspicious people were confined in
internment camps, which forced them to commit unethical labor. These suspicious people even
included citizens that associated themselves with immigrants from enemy countries. Even after this
incident, Canada continued to fear sabotage of security and promoted posters pertaining to keeping
your mouth shut during the war era. These posters caused Canadians to fear speaking in public, as the
posters demonstrated that careless talk will eventually kill or harm someone. Additionally, other
posters regarding this issue would portray people that talked about the war, as enemies and people that
hated their own country. The idea of total war is evident here, as having a social life was impacted by
the war and people who openly talked about war could be slandered by others who were frightened by
these propaganda posters. Clearly, the government caused people of Canada to fear loose talk, as men

Group Project Reflection
Throughout my years in graduate school, I found myself with many opportunities to work on group
projects. I always found these projects to be a rewarding experience because it was not only an
opportunity to contribute my experience and ideas to the project but also listen to experience and ideas
of my teammates. However, working on a group project also meant making sure to examine the work
of my teammates and vice versa. So for each group assignment, I always made sure to follow certain
guidelines I laid out for myself in order to get the assignment completed.
1. Ask questions especially if I needed a teammate to clarify what they needed from me or if I not sure
about what they wrote.
2. Provide thoughtful suggestions on the work of my

Once called The City of Smokestacks , Everett, Washington was booming with blue collar jobs, with
over two dozen saw and shingles mills making home there throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
However, the workers of Everett (and indeed, the entire United States at the time) dealt with extensive
labor hours and hazardous working conditions. In response to these conditions, much of the city s
workforce began to unionize, which was readily accessible with Everett s twenty five local unions.
In 1914, the city of Everett was recovering from a sudden recession, which allowed business owners
to lower pay rates, but by 1916, the mill workers had not yet received their prior pay scale. Angered

The Planners Poem
The speaker is very fearful of the idea of modernisation and does not see any good in it.
Firstly, he is very skeptical towards the planners who plan this idea of modernisation. The writer starts
of the poem with They plan. It is unclear of who the writer is referring to, which I imply that he is
referring to the planners. The writer tries to distance himself from the planners, and does not want
anything to do with them by not acknowledging who they are. Besides that, his second sentence of the
poem is also related to them. The repetition of the word They many times emphasises how powerful
and mysterious are the people behind the city s construction and to rebel against them would be
practically impossible. Additionally, the speaker describes them as people who build and will not stop
. Nothing has the power to stop the planners, it is a hopeless battle if anyone even attempts to rebel
against this plan. There is a certainty about this sentence that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

giving way to the planners obnoxious and obliterating plans. The sea is disguised by civilisation and

nature is conquered by the planners. This both shows that even nature cannot do anything and the
disapproval of nature of these planners. Furthermore, the writer described bridges are hang in the
grace of mathematics . The word grace is supposed to imply moving freely in unrestrained strings.
However, mathematics , on the other hand, is made up of rules and obtain straight, unrestricted lines.
Beauty is being pushed away, replaced by mathematics, implying that modernisation has divine power
of replacing something so beautiful with something boring instead. The writer is not looking forward

I am going to study three love poems. The first one is called First Love by John Clare
How does poet s writing before 1900 use language to write about different types of love? Consider
three love poems, two of which must be by the same poet.
In this piece of coursework I am going to study three love poems. The first one is called First Love by
John Clare; this poem is a very simple, sweet poem about a mans first love of his life. The second is
called My Last Duchess by Robert Browning; this poem is about the
Duke telling his servant about his last wife, this poem is a poem about obsessive love. The third poem
is called Porphyria s Lover also by Robert Browning; this poem is about a man being suspicious

Whereas the vocabulary in My Last Duchess is very obsessive, vocabulary in Porphyria s Lover is
possessive and also Porphyria s lover is very suspicious of Porphyria. Lake whipped up by the wind ,
Cold room , and Sullen wind are all examples/indications of the menacing love Porphyria s lover has
for Porphyria. Porphyria enters the room and looks like she has come in from a storm, which she has,
but Porphyria s lover makes it sound different. Her cloak is dripping . Porphyria s lover once referred
to Porphyria as mine, mine , this shows his obsession with Porphyria and shows that he only feels
happy when Porphyria is all his.
When her own hair murders Porphyria, Porphyria s lover says he has her love all to himself at last. He
doesn t feel guilty about what he had done God has not said a word .
Secondly, I am going to investigate the sentence structure of all three of the poems.
Looking at the sentence structure of First Love , the sentences are very short and simple, I never saw,
so sweet a face, as that I stood before but there are aw few complex sentences within the poem They
spoke as chords do from the string and blood burnt round my heart .
Rhetorical questions are also asked because he wants to find out a lot more about love, as it is his first
time in being in love. Are flowers the winters choice? Is loves bed always snow? are only a few
examples of rhetorical questions that are in the poem.

The future of living is cities. Somehow the ancients understood it, but Americans in the 1950s decided
cities were a thing of the past. The movement from the city to the suburb has been one of the single
most expensive cultural migrations in world history. There is much more than the initial cost of a
house with a yard. There are the environmental costs that accumulate from the destruction of wildlife
from both, building materials and the clearing of area for the physical house. This initial cost also does
not account for the supermarkets, and roads needed to sustain life in these suburban areas separated
into pods. What about the costs of a car needed for transportation in these metropolises, and all their
external costs as well? Those are not accounted for either, but suburban living was the American
Dream for nearly half a century. However, as the American Dream, and family models, change there is
an evident need for living conditions to change as well. There is not a singular way to design a city,

Teen Depression In Teens
Depression In Teens Suicide is the second leading cause of death in adolescence fifteenth through
nineteen only after traffic accidents (Klass). Teenage depression is a serious mental health problem
that causes teens to have the persistent feeling of sadness and lack of interest in activities. Depression
changes the way teens think, feel, and behave. Some people may wonder why depression is even a
concern, but depression itself causes two thirds of suicides (Department of Health). Most people don t
know what causes depression, the most common causes of depression are biological chemistry,
hormones, it can also be inherited; some people s depression stems from childhood trauma, or having
negative thoughts that give you a negative mood. There are chemicals in the brain that if abnormal or
impaired the function of nerve receptors and nerve systems change, leading to depression. Inheriting
depression is not simple, no one simply inherits depression from their mother or father, each person
inherits a unique combination of genes from their mother and father, and certain combinations can
predispose them to a particular illness (Department of Health). Childhood trauma, such as sexual or
physical abuse, domestic violence, neglect or parental loss, can have long lasting consequences,
researchers are exploring the effects of early trauma on the stress response systems (Department of
Health) that can later can lead to depression later in life. Teen depression may be linked to

Persuasive Essay On Torture
The practice of torture by United States officials has become one of the most controversial elements of
military history. The debate of its use in gathering intelligence has been particularly prevalent since
the Bush administration. Most recently, a detailed and graphic scene of torture was presented in the
movie Zero Dark Thirty. Proponents for the use of torture state that it is necessary for intelligence
gathering and that ethics should be waved aside. Opponents argue that it is not becoming of American
practices and it is not a reliable source for intelligence gathering. The public debates on this issue have
forced policy makers and military officials to look at whether or not torture, particularly
waterboarding, should be legal. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It stated, With respect to waterboarding, the opinion concluded that while the technique presented a
substantial question under the statute, the authorized use of waterboarding...would not violate the
federal criminal prohibition against torture (U.S. Cong., 2009). This conclusion was primarily drawn
from the proposed idea that waterboarding is not considered to be painful and does not have a lasting
physical or psychological impact (U.S. Cong., 2009). This simulated session of drowning arguably
only causes a momentary state of distress. In fact, it is even practiced on U.S. service members in
training. These considerations certainly establish a compelling argument for the use of waterboarding
as a means to collect important information in a combat environment. There are, however, compelling
arguments against the use of any form of torture. One of the more prominent arguments is that it does
not provide officials with any actual intelligence. A former FBI interrogator, Ali Soufan, presents a
logical argument that waterboarding does not work. He explains that two terrorists, Abu Zubaydah and
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, were waterboarded 83 and 183 times respectively (Collins, 2014). It is
hard to imagine that anything beyond the first few attempts would have truly provided any form of
actionable intelligence. At this point in their torture, these two terrorists may only provide false
information that may seem important. In their eyes, this would provide the quickest

I don t think so. If you go to the bars a lot, then you know who the drinkers are because of their big

immigrant, Frederick John Miller, born November 24, 1824, brought his passion for beer to the United
States. Miller, who had been a renowned German brewer since 1849, arrived in the United States and
settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1855. In 1855, Miller purchased a small brewery called the Plank
Road Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for $2,300. Through his determination and character,
Frederick Miller began building his own American dream barrel by barrel. He produced the finest
quality beer, made from locally grown hops and barley, and using a unique brewer s yeast that he hand
carried from Germany. (The yeast they use in our beers today is a descendant of that very yeast so
treasured by our founder!) Before his death in 1888, Frederick Miller became one of the early pioneers
of bottling beer. After his passing, Frederick Miller s immediate family members continued his legacy,
and guided the company with progressive, uncompromising character through two world wars and
prohibition. In 1903, Miller named its most popular beer, High Life, and the Champagne of Bottled
Beer was born! Today, Miller s Brewery in Milwaukee (and the historic

the last few years this has become a rather recognizable term however I did not realize this went all
the way back to the beginnings of our country. I also find it shocking that after all this time we still
have found no real resolution for the distribution of wealth in America. While I understand hard work
for hard cash I do not understand how even back then these companies could profit so heavily off their
employees with no care for their wellbeing or living situation. A company should never be allowed to
pay someone less than the current living expense of the area. Also, I cannot help but feel like I am not
reading history but instead an article from current times. Millionaires sit on snob hill while their
employees struggle to keep on the lights.

  • 2. Myth Of Truth Analysis Truth has always been a very vague and grey area for many people, it s something that cannot be agreed on by every single person. Each person has their own set of past experiences that have built upon their morals, values and ethics. This ties in with their overall idea of why they view truth and lies in the way that do. Professor Hedrick is interesting in the way that she teaches literature through the historical point of view, proving background information that enables students to build upon this background knowledge and find the interpretation for that piece of literature. Much like our differing viewpoints on the concepts behind truth and lies can be connected to differing interpretations over a certain work of literature. But when truth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knapp, et all, Lying, 54 The idea of concept of lying, deception and truth as a grey area was introduced and throughout the interview Professor Hedrick stuck to her stance of truth depending on the person in question. Our journey through life has heavily influenced the ever changing stance over truth. Knapp, et all, Lying, 57 Throughout the interview she spoke about her seeing changes in the students, in their ideas, how they evolve in just a semester. Ethics to her is like a scale, it needs to be constantly adjusted, adapted and balanced. Much like her students writing styles, she sees their speech, their viewpoints over the world change drastically in just a semester, some students regress and others thrive. Their interpretations open up and they come up to her with what they thought but she is no stranger to the lies students tell. In her long career, she has had many outlandish lies told to her, what students will do to get out of trouble or an extension on an exam or extra credit. The idea of lying to an authority figure that could end in severe consequences is a lie that many students would not think of before but when they enter the college scene, they change; some students would do anything to get a little extra credit. It s part of her job to be vigilant for the possible lies students may tell in an attempt to take advantage of her. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mr.Peters is miserable about life and wishes for a wife to be beautiful as the forest. Leita once was a swan until Mr.Peters turns her into a human by a wish. She misses her sister and her old life in the forest. The Forest king is a person that gives Mr.Peters the three wishes. The Forest king isn t really a substandard guy, but he does try to depress the narrator and is disrespectful. By using description and feelings/emotions, Joan Aiken creates the lesson that it takes some time to be use to change. The descriptive sentence, But I miss the old life in the forest, the cool grass the mist rising off the river at sunrise and the feel of the water sliding over my feathers as my sister and I drifted along the stream, shows that leita misses her old life in the forest with her sister (1). Mr.Peters is so desperate for wife and doesn t realise that Leita is miserable and misses her old life. Aiken uses this descriptive imagery sentence to show how miserable Leita is, as Mr.Peters turns her into a human. Her feelings/emotions is not the only way she utilizes craft to thrive this idea. The description in the short story shows Leite s miserableness. Aiken explains how miserable Leita is, even though she is inlove with Mr.Peters. They feel miserable Leita, what is it? he asked, very troubled. This is my sister, she answered. I can t bear being separated from her. Now he understood that Leita was really a swan from the forest, and this made him very sad because when a human being marries a bird it always leads to sorrow (2). These quotes show the similarities Leita and Mr.Peters are feeling, and makes them even more miserable. Although some may agree that this feelings/emotions for each other is simply to allow the reader to feel what kind of experience both of them are going through. The feelings/emotions Leita has for her sister shows that clearly she misses her sister and her old life. The author also describes Leita in a way that makes the reader feel miserable for her. Aiken uses feelings/emotions, This is my sister, she answered. I can t bear being separated from her. to show Leita as dispirit and miserable (2). She is portrayed as a miserable wife who misses her old life. This shows the pain Leita is feeling as a result of the adeptness in her life. These rockets were some revolutionary pieces of technology during the 1960 s because America went from almost nothing on rockets to men on the moon. But there are some rockets that outshone the others because those rockets did great things or they came back from near extinction. The U.S. space program made many different types of rockets during the 1960 s, but the best type of rockets were the Delta rockets, the Atlas rockets, and the Saturn rockets. • 7. Summary Of To The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf Reading the novel To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf was hard labor. Every page I turned made me feel that I was in a different place at a different time. Due to the lack of its plot and entertainment, this novel, unfortunately, would immediately fail to engage teenagers, as well as other readers, who are not as interested as Virginia Woolf, to study the humans consciousness and the way time moves over the courses of our days. In our everyday lives, we always expect, including myself, to read a story that has a well structured plot and that also brings us to a journey that will remain with us forever. While it is true that, I was notified multiple times that modernist novels are texts that will either keep a person up all night staring at the clock on the wall, pressing their back against the wall or pulling their skin off their bones, I still expected to find a story in To The Lighthouse that unfolds through a chronological order because there is always a cause and effect, a beginning, middle, and end, to every story. However, this was not to be the case. Part one of the novel did not have a story at all. It was mainly characters consciousness flowing into one another across the pages, because of that, I almost wanted to throw the book in the air and even to burn it to dust. However, now that I am looking back, I would have never picked up this book to read by the shore under the summer skies. Despite the disorganization of part one, I managed to get through from page to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thomas More does not agree with the marriage between Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn because Thomas feels that it violates the law of Apostolic Succession. Thomas does try to be complacent with the Act of Succession if he can find any way that he could agree with it. But, since he is not able to find anything that gives him any leeway. • 15. Unions and Political Economy Union Articles Are union locals independent of employers or are they incorporated into the management of the workplace? Union locals are not incorporated into the management of the workplace. The most important objective of unions is to protect workers interests against management s interests. This is because, in most cases, the interests of managers and those of workers are very much different. Workers are interested in increasing their salaries, in reducing their volume of work, and in improving workplace conditions. Managers are interested in increasing profits while reducing investments. Therefore, negotiations must be made between the two parties. Workers must unite and select certain people that can represent their interests in these negotiations. This is how unions were developed. However, union locals are not independent of employers. This is because union members and their leaders are employees of the company in case. The quality of union members and leaders is added to the quality of employees, but this does not mean that union locals are independent of employers. The power of employees against their employers can significantly increase when they are union members. In addition to this, union leaders influence their members. Bhattacharyya (2004) argues that community development is not a distinct field and that not everything that is being done by developers to improve communities should not be regarded as community development. Bhattacharyya (2004) states that it should only be regarded as community development if the improvement pursues solidarity and agency which can be achieved through adhering to the principles of self help, felt needs and participation. The students finally were able to enter the school on September 23rd, 1957. But the fight was not over. The Little Rock Nine continued to face extreme harassment, both physical and verbal. This is using the principle of the minimum transfer price which is the variable cost plus the profit if it sells its engines externally then adds the cost of €200 of developing the Type 2A engine. However in the future the price may increase because fixed cost will be added as capacity may become a problem with the expected rise of demand for cars and engines, and also if Kamp is allowed to sell externally the type 2, 3, and 4 engines, so the price in the future should be €4750. The proposed transfer price now is also lower than the expected prices from Black and FER so it should not be a problem with Guy Mercier who is pressuring Kamp to sell the engine at a reasonable price so that he can raise profit and bonus for his division. • 35. Persuasive Essay On Torture The practice of torture by United States officials has become one of the most controversial elements of military history. The debate of its use in gathering intelligence has been particularly prevalent since the Bush administration. Most recently, a detailed and graphic scene of torture was presented in the movie Zero Dark Thirty. Proponents for the use of torture state that it is necessary for intelligence gathering and that ethics should be waved aside. Opponents argue that it is not becoming of American practices and it is not a reliable source for intelligence gathering. The public debates on this issue have forced policy makers and military officials to look at whether or not torture, particularly waterboarding, should be legal. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It stated, With respect to waterboarding, the opinion concluded that while the technique presented a substantial question under the statute, the authorized use of waterboarding...would not violate the federal criminal prohibition against torture (U.S. Cong., 2009). This conclusion was primarily drawn from the proposed idea that waterboarding is not considered to be painful and does not have a lasting physical or psychological impact (U.S. Cong., 2009). This simulated session of drowning arguably only causes a momentary state of distress. In fact, it is even practiced on U.S. service members in training. These considerations certainly establish a compelling argument for the use of waterboarding as a means to collect important information in a combat environment. There are, however, compelling arguments against the use of any form of torture. One of the more prominent arguments is that it does not provide officials with any actual intelligence. A former FBI interrogator, Ali Soufan, presents a logical argument that waterboarding does not work. He explains that two terrorists, Abu Zubaydah and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, were waterboarded 83 and 183 times respectively (Collins, 2014). It is hard to imagine that anything beyond the first few attempts would have truly provided any form of actionable intelligence. At this point in their torture, these two terrorists may only provide false information that may seem important. In their eyes, this would provide the quickest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you go to the bars a lot, then you know who the drinkers are because of their big beer belly s hanging out of their shirt. Drinking beer, if you ask me, can make a man look like he s pregnant. The history of Miller Brewing Company began in the mid 19th century, when a determined immigrant, Frederick John Miller, born November 24, 1824, brought his passion for beer to the United States. Miller, who had been a renowned German brewer since 1849, arrived in the United States and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1855. In 1855, Miller purchased a small brewery called the Plank Road Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for $2,300. Through his determination and character, Frederick Miller began building his own American dream barrel by barrel. He produced the finest quality beer, made from locally grown hops and barley, and using a unique brewer s yeast that he hand carried from Germany. (The yeast they use in our beers today is a descendant of that very yeast so treasured by our founder!) Before his death in 1888, Frederick Miller became one of the early pioneers of bottling beer. After his passing, Frederick Miller s immediate family members continued his legacy, and guided the company with progressive, uncompromising character through two world wars and prohibition. In 1903, Miller named its most popular beer, High Life, and the Champagne of Bottled Beer was born! Today, Miller s Brewery in Milwaukee (and the historic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the news over the last few years this has become a rather recognizable term however I did not realize this went all the way back to the beginnings of our country. I also find it shocking that after all this time we still have found no real resolution for the distribution of wealth in America. While I understand hard work for hard cash I do not understand how even back then these companies could profit so heavily off their employees with no care for their wellbeing or living situation. A company should never be allowed to pay someone less than the current living expense of the area. Also, I cannot help but feel like I am not reading history but instead an article from current times.
