My Antonia American Dream
In the novel My Antonia written by Willa Cather, Cather is able to deliver an intriguing view on how
the American Dream varies depending on the social class of each character. To decipher Cather s
indirect message on the American Dream, readers must pay attention to the different individuals in the
book. Readers must recognize the different realities of the American Dream that is obtainable to those
specific characters. First, the main character Jim Burden can be seen as the ordinary version of the
American Dream. Jim represents the average white male, who has endless potential and has endless
opportunities in life. Secondly, Cather uses Antonia to show the other side of the American Dream.
Antonia is an immigrant who also endless potential, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jim Burden is hopeful, intelligent, and with a limitless supply of potential. What makes Jim Burden
the perfect candidate is the social class and environment that surrounds him. He is not an immigrant
and he is not the richest man in town, which makes his character relatable too many readers. Jim is
just the ordinary American boy that has nothing holding him back from what his future could provide.
Cather s ability to have the perfect American Dream candidate narrate the story, while being able to
give great stories and descriptions of other characters is what makes this novel so intriguing. It makes
the story more realistic due to the fact of how Jim s interprets the American reality for others, while
seeing being able to work for his American Dream. The best description of Jim s life can be read when
Antonia says, If I live here, like you, that is different. Things will be easy for you. But they will be
hard for us. Antonia is able to tell Jim that due to their social circumstances, how different their lives
are from each other s. This gives the reader a real look into the lives of those unfortunate, which also
delivers the theme of the story. The theme is American Dream versus American reality. Jim is able to
do whatever he wants in life, however Antonia has only few limited opportunities due to her
circumstances and heritage. Cather is able to show the substantial social differences between
characters, which enables readers to understand the different paths laid out for them in the

Why Creationism Should Not Be Taught in Public Schools...
A hotly debated topic concerning public schools centers on the origin of life. Now more than ever,
science and religion are butting heads. What should public schools teach to their students? Alex
Rainert reasons that both science and religion are engaged in the same project, to discover the origin
of life (141). In short, one could better describe the debate as a crusade between evolutionists and
creationists; both sides have their well founded arguments, but when one looks at the decisions of the
courts, clearly only one side may win the battle when deciding biology curriculum in schools. Despite
an overwhelming number of individuals in favor of teaching creationism in public education, science
classes should refrain from becoming a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otherwise, teaching creationism encroaches upon separation of church and state.
Certainly many Americans in favor of teaching both theories may do so for the sake of imparting
critical thinking skills to our schoolchildren. Costley and Killins agree with this notion, emphasizing
that true academics teaches schoolchildren alternate theories as well as analytical thinking (5). As a
result, creationists weigh in heavily at schools, compelling them to introduce other scientific theories
dealing with the origin of life (Raymo 152). In this regard, when it applies to all area of academics,
many more people would agree. Teaching only one theory on any matter seems indicative of a
totalitarian form of education. Therefore, teachers should want to introduce students to as many
alternative theories as possible. However, the dissenting theories they present must have factual
ground on which to stand on. Since the theory of creationism stands on shaky ground scientifically, it
should have no place in science education classes.
Interestingly, Alex Rainert, a man in favor of teaching both creationism and evolution, states that
evolution is as much a theory as the theory of plate tectonics or Einstein s theory of relativity. Yet, he
explains, a campaign against those theories in courtrooms is, in essence, nonexistent (140).

Examples Of Apostolates In The Incredibles
In the movie, The Incredibles, many of the characters have apostolates. An apostolate is defined as the
work of the laity toward building up the Church through initiatives and efforts that evangelize,
educate, or serve the needs of others. This is the mission of the church, along with loving God and
living as an example of Christ. Violet and Dash both embody their mission of apostolates by using
their powers to build up their family and serving the needs of the public by saving them in the end of

The Use Of Technology In The Film Industry And The Movie...
An American director, producer, and screenwriter once said, Cinema is gone , but is it really? The
ability to bring a story to life on a big screen, using technology is magic. To be able to use a camera
and transform an idea into reality has allowed one to visualize written words. The movie industry is a
broad and vast field, but has transformed, connected, and influenced the way one see s reality. These
movies have the ability to transforms an idea into a moving picture by the use of technology, allowing
one to connect to the story, and influence in the way one perceives it. The movement of pictures, or
movies as they are now called, dates back to the late 1800s . With the introduction of these moving
pictures and the technology that was used to make, these movies have changed the world as one view
it. Today movies are as easy to access through phones, televisions, and at the movies theaters;
however, does the easy access of viewing movies through one s phone affect the making of these
movies and the movie industry (The History of Motion Pictures, n.d.)? The history, the use of
technology, the key people, and the future, are all important when understanding why the movie
industry is gone according to American directors like Martin Scorsese, who has directed popular
movies from as early as the 1970s such as Taxi Driver (1976), and recent films such as Silence (2016.)

Essay On Mining Moving Object
There have been many recent studies on mining moving object. These studies have focused on two
categories of research: moving object cluster discovery and trajectory clustering. Moving objects
clustering means a group of object travels together where locations are not defined. Trajectory
clustering refers a group of locations based on similar objects traveling though traveling time is not
considered. Li et al. cite{li2010swarm}, propose the concept of temporal moving objects swarms,
which captures the moving objects move within an arbitrary shape of clusters for certain timestamps
that are non consecutive. Laube et al. cite{laube2002analyzing} first introduced flock and the flock
was further studied in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trajectory clustering with probabilistic modeling of a set of trajectories is proposed in
papercite{gaffney2007probabilistic}. Whole trajectories may miss interesting common paths in sub
trajectories. Lee et al. cite{lee2007trajectory} proposed a partition and group framework that finds
out an interesting common path in sub trajectories. Mao et al. cite{mao2016mining} proposed mining
spatiotemporal patterns of urban dwellers from taxi trajectory data. The method involves three critical
steps that are discover potentially meaningful locations using spatial clustering of taxi origin
destination, identifying perfect parameter values to extract jobs housing urban infrastructure and
visualization of this spatial distribution and temporal trends of the revealed urban infrastructure.
Another swarms mining method on big spatiotemporal trajectories using MapReduce cite{yu2016mr}
has been proposed to mine swarm pattern. They propose a parallel model based on timeset
independent property where data sets are divided based on time and creates local swarm patterns.
Even though, combining these local swarms, global swarms have been created. Our observation is that
partitioning datasets based on time lost data consistence and significant number of patterns removed
from local swarms and in addition in huge number of datasets, map and reduce process takes extra
time for mapping and reducing. Chen et al. cite{chen2017mining}

Factors Affecting The Electoral Elections Of Zimbabwe And...
There are several factors affecting declining electoral turnout in Zimbabwe and South Africa. After
just twenty years of attainment of national independence from United Kingdom, in the year 2000,
Zimbabwe experienced what can only be termed a major setback in its transition to democracy.
Without threat of defeat from opposition parties, the ruling party ZANU PF had enjoyed dominance in
Zimbabwe, where they enjoyed victory after victory in elections. Zimbabwe Parliamentary Elections
of 2000 saw ZANU PF face formidable opposition from the newly formed Movement for Democratic
Change (MDC). However, according to independent observers, extensive electoral fraud and voter
intimidation occurred during this election and ultimately, the MDC won 57 ... Show more content on

South Africa has had overwhelming victories for the ruling party ANC since 1994 when they first
gained freedom from the apartheid regime. According to SA institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) since
2009 most South did not participate in vote in national elections because even if they don t vote things
would stay the same no matter who wins the election while some say they no longer see any party that
is worth voting for. Most people just don t care about going to vote because culturally they think it is
other people who should vote, and not them. They feel that voting is not important in their lives as it
always seems unable change their lives whatever the outcome of the elections. (2) There are cases of
street vendors who have advanced the explanation that they don t have time to go and queue even if
they want to vote, as that may mean possible loss of prospective revenue. (3) Disenchantment. Most
people are just disenchanted with voting especially in Zimbabwe where people have observed
electoral fraud taking place in front of them and the same bad people winning the elections. There is
also a large population in the Diaspora who unable to vote as the Zimbabwe constitution does not
provide for foreign voting which would allow citizens who are outside to be able to vote from outside
Zimbabwe.

South Africa Survey found that the proportion of South Africans who did not vote in national and
provincial elections increased from 14% in 1994

Love, And Platotic Aspects Of Love By William Shakespeare
During the English Renaissance, there was a bloom of literature, fueled by the advent of the printing
press and the patronage of the nobility. Beginning with Petrarch s popularization of the Italian form,
the sonnet became the English mainstay for portrayals of love. The progression of the Renaissance
saw the experience of love detailed in many different ways through form, allegory, allusion, and
metaphor. The fashioning of the love object in sonnets varies from writer to writer and progresses
from an outward, ethereal love to an inward love, rooted in reality as the centuries progressed.
Petrarchan love objects are larger than life holy in nature, whilst anti Petrarchan loves are human and
flawed. Poets of this time grappled with the Platonic conventions of love: What does love mean on the
grand scale? What constitutes the ideal experience? Is love a reflection of the holy, or is it a reflection
of our most base human qualities? Each poet crafted their image of the love object in varying ways:
Francesco Petrarch wrote an idol, Edmund Spenser wrote a genuine, yet ideal woman, William
Shakespeare catered to harsh realism, and Lady Mary Wroth wrote of a stormy, imperfect lover.
Petrarch is the father of the sonnet and his fashioning of Laura in his vast sonnet cycle set the first bar
for portrayals of the beloved in English Renaissance literature. As a member of the clergy and a
stringent adherent to the church, Petrarch found his principles and devotion shaken when he beheld

Similarities And Differences Between The New England And...
During the colonial era, England founded the Thirteen colonies. The New england colonial region was
established for religious freedom. The Southern colonial region settled to find gold and earn profits.
There were many differences and similarities in New England and the Southern geography, economy,
and culture. There are similarities and differences of the geography of New England and Southern
colonies. The South had mild, rainy winters and long hot humid summers. This means, the South could
grow many crops. According to A Virginia Plantation, the south had lots of plantations with tobacco
and corn (Doc 6). However, New England had long cold winters and a short growing season. This
means New England did not grow as many crops as the South. Instead, many colonists had small
farms for their family or community. Therefore, the differences in geography helped to shape the
development of the New England and Southern regions. There were similarities and differences in the
economy of New england and the Southern colonies. New England colonies had small farms,
lumberjacks, and shipbuilders. The colonies were near the Atlantic Ocean to help with their jobs. The
coast helped the colonists trade. New England did not have slaves instead they used indentured
servants to help with labor. These servants in a passage to the New World and after about 7 years they
are given land and freedom. On the other hand, to make money in the South they would sell slaves to
make a profit. The slaves did most of the work on their plantations. The slaves would do all of the
work so their owners could make the money from the crops they grew. When they were traveling on
the ship to be sold the conditions were terrible. The ship was very crowded and many of the slaves got
sick. According to The Slave Flyer it states that they made sure the slaves didn t have smallpox
because they would be able to sell them for more money if they seemed to be in good condition. They
didn t care if they were not healthy they just wanted them to look healthy (Doc 8). Many people came
to the South only to find gold. They only cared about finding gold so they didn t build houses or get
prepared for what might happen to them. They just looked

Analysis Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
The Love Song of T.S Eliot
In The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock the reader can clearly understand that T.S Eliot is
straightforward as one can get within a poem. In the beginning of the poem, one can infer that
Prufrock is being used as a facade to convey Eliot s inner self who is an introvert that doesn t quite fit
in with the modern day society. Prufrock sees his personal life as a burden that he cannot mend while
he tries to conform into the middle class society that everyone views as pristine. Meanwhile, being
scrutinized by others he has also deemed himself as weak and unworthy of life. We are choosing to
shed light on Eliot s inadequate personal life and on how others perceive him as well as how he
perceives himself, within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In college Eliot met the love of his life and he soon married Vivien Haigh Wood. This would make
Eliot a new person in the way he would write and view the world. He self trained himself to make his
writing more modern in efforts to reach a bigger crowd (Bush). These efforts would eventually pay off
with writings like Ulysses, The Wasteland, and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. These writings
would give T.S Eliot the strength to quit his job in a local bank and live off the success of his writings.
Eliot used his life struggles as his inspiration to create his successful writings just like how he used it
to create Prufrock in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock . T.S Eliot uses his poem as an outlet to
express what he has experienced throughout his personal life through Prufrock. In his poem, he makes
the character, Prufrock, becomes very judgmental on himself since Eliot has encountered many self
degrading life lessons. Prufrock believes that his worthlessness terminates his chances of any woman
falling in love him and which is the cause of his hesitance to approach women. Eliot is the same way
since he got his heartbroken by his first wife, Vivienne Haigh wood Eliot. Eliot s habitable
tentativeness has always restrained him from being with a woman and what Vivienne does to him
proves why he was and now always will be skeptical to be with a woman. A man by the name of

Cosmetic Surgery is a Worldwide Epidemic Essay
Everywhere you look; from billboards to TV the effects of plastic surgery have left its mark. In fact, a
couple of weeks ago, a famous music icon passed, and for a whole week all the media did was talk
about the plastic surgery done to his face. These days people are having rhinoplasty, liposuction,
tummy tucks, face lifts, and most commonly breast augmentation. Science is making it easier to
change the appearance of ones self. This brings me to believe, cosmetic surgery is an epidemic that
has affected the whole world.

Adults with big money have been the ones affected the most with these celebrity trends. However,
teenager girls have been affected more than they should. Instead of a parent telling the teenager they
look beautiful, no matter how many minor imperfections they have. Most parents are shockingly
giving their teenagers liposuction as birthday presents. Instead of loosing weight in a healthy way with
diet and exercise, these teens are going under anesthesia. Most teenagers after the surgery have scars
left on their body, which never heal. In today s world, many people are confused about their gender.
This has led numerous people to plastic surgery. A countless number of them feel the only way to truly
be themselves is through getting a sex transformation. Even though many of them get the surgery on
the down low, the effects from the surgery eventually come to light. On the Jerry Springer show, a
number of episodes involved the audience guessing what the gender of the person was before they
underwent surgery. It s sad to say, that the majority of the women on the show were originally men.
The expenses of buying a whole new lifestyle, the emotional drainage they are likely to face, and the
periods of physical pain in hormonal change all are factors they deal with after plastic surgery.
Whether broadcasted through media or magazines plastic surgery interest everyone, I truly believe
Hollywood is addicted to it. I believe that the media projects images

Causes Of The Industrial Revolution
By 1750, there was not much doubt that if any country was going to triumph in being the first
industrial power it would be England (Hobsbawm 29). However, several factors were responsible for
England s emergence as an industrial power. Some of the contributing factors for the Industrial
Revolution were: the increasing importance of imperial goods such as cotton, cultural traditions that
stemmed from the Renaissance and the Reformation, population change, and a government willing to
subordinate all foreign policy to its economic ends. Socially, the Industrial Revolution in England
changed exponentially with the growing drift between the class hierarchy. Instead of reverting to
social revolution as occurred in France, England experienced political reform during the Industrial
Revolution that would become a symbol of hope for thriving countries. There has been much
speculation on the exact reason the Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 18th Century,
but certain components are undisputed for the Revolution s occurrence there. Initially, Britain already
had a large, developed supply of coal and iron which gave the British a start in mass metallurgy (Perry
286). There also was a surplus of capital available for investments to be made in new industries;
however, these funds came from wealthy landowners and merchants who had grown rich in commerce
through the slave trade (Perry 287). With the start of their own capitalist industrialization, England

Compare And Contrast Jamestown And Plymouth Colonies
Another component comparing Jamestown and Plymouth colonies would be their aspects on Indian
relations. The English colonists arrived in Chesapeake Bay where the Powhatan Indians had been
calling home for quite some time. There were over thirty Indian tribes totaling 14,000 Indians. This is
where the first colony, Jamestown, was settled in 1607. I believe this created a lot of tension between
the Indians and the new settlers considering the previous settling and attacks of the Spanish on the
Indians. The Indians lived such a generous way of life welcoming the new English settlers by offering
them food. However, the good intentions faded quickly after. The leader of the Powhatan Indians,
Powhatan, was intending to entice the English through generosity and their selfless attitudes. Sure
enough, this act of kindness was overlooked by the English colonists, and they immediately began
searching for wealth such as tobacco. As we have spoken about in class, Jamestown was a colony that
significantly valued material objects and wealth; whereas Plymouth colony did not focus their rule
around that idea. The new colonists were so set on acquiring wealth that they failed to grow crops
such as corn and beans. This led the English to depend more on the Indians for food since the Indians
were very successful farmers and knew how to live off the land. John Smith s leadership swooped in
and saved the colony of Jamestown. He conducted means of exploring the land and gathering

This paper should not only be of interest to P2P designers, but also to engineers at upper and lower tier
ISPs, who are interested in acquiring a thorough understanding of
P2P overlays and tra±c. Because P2P ¯le sharing systems can generate vast quantities of tra±c,
networking engineers, who dimension the network and introduce content distribution devices such as
caches, need a basic understanding of how major P2P ¯le sharing systems operate. Although there has
been recent work in analyzing the ¯le sharing workload in KaZaA [8] and [18], to our knowledge we
are the ¯rst to undertake a comprehensive study of a hierarchical unstructured overlay for a P2P
system.
The paper focuses on the KaZaA overlay network and index management. It ad dresses neither KaZaA
s downloading protocol (for example, KaZaA s parallel down loading and request queuing) nor its
incentive scheme for encouraging uploading. The paper is complementary to [8] and [18], which focus
on KaZaA ¯le sharing tra±c. It is also complementary to a recent measurement study on pollution in
P2P ¯le sharing systems [19].
This paper is organized as follows. Section 2 provides an overview of KaZaA.
Section 3 describes are measurement apparatus. Section 4 presents our measurement results. Section 5
sets forth basic design principles for unstructured P2P ¯le sharing applications. Section 6 surveys
related work. Finally, Section 7 summarizes our ¯ndings and concludes.

Where s My Teddy Bear
Children do not know the boundaries of rights and wrongs, and it can be said that their ability to
imagine without limit works as strong yet week point. In the section Transgressive Desires of Teddy
Bear Stories, it has a point that talked about how children [unconsciously] desires to play their most
significant role or what I understood as fantasizing about having romantic relationship with a parent.
This was interesting because bear comes in place to tell children on do s and don ts indirectly with
story book. The book, Where s My Teddy?, wrote, The teddies are exchanged. The giant mother bear
can now remain in the dark forest of the unconscious, hugging a teddy the size of Eddy, while Eddy
can lie in his own bed with his own teddy, a small substitute for a large desire (Page 17). When I read
this quote, I thought that this is great usage of bear images as it gives gentle push for children to have
right track of mind by using friendly fuzzy bear that most people love. Moreover, I think its great that
it is telling children of how they can still have desire of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

while women recount how they transformed the toy (Page 20). This point of view is something I have

indicator of gender by listening to way children use language to describe their actions. Also, from
reading this quote, I thought girls would treasure their bears much more than boys as girls are focusing
on the process itself. In my opinion, focusing on only the results tend to last shorter in our memories
as it does not have much connection with the bear without the recounting how the process

Risk Of Possible Spread Of Nosocomial Infections Essay
This study provides additional information in predicting the risk of possible spread of nosocomial
infections to patients by determining the hospital wide incidence rate of bacterial colonization of
portable ultrasound probes and coupling gels across nine departments at a single military training
hospital. A total of 82 ultrasound probes and 43 coupling gel bottles will be swabbed for bacterial
cultures. Each probe will be sampled randomly for cultures by swabbing four times during the 8 week
period of the study. The expected result is to have less than 10% of the total 320 probe cultures will
yield positive growths and none of which will be identified as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus
aureus (MRSA) or potential multidrug resistant organisms (MDROs). In addition, no coupling gel will
yield positive growths. This study will thereby conclude that the bacterial colonization on portable
ultrasound equipment and coupling gels are low incidences. Moreover, the current disinfecting
protocols of the participating department are sufficient to minimize or eliminate the growth of bacteria
on the ultrasound probes.
II. Statement of Purpose
In this study, we will focus on the possible growth of pathogenic organisms on portable ultrasound
probes and possible contamination of coupling gel bottles. This endeavor will include evaluation of

Reflection Paper On Painting
Before you even start painting you have to decide what type of material you will be painting on. In
modern days you will most likely land on paper as the material you choose to paint on. After choosing
to paint on paper you should decide on what type of paint to use. The artist s painting, I am looking at
choose to use watercolor paints on a watercolor paper. Apparently watercolor paper is made with
linters or cotton rags unlike how printer paper is made. Cotton rags are supposedly stronger than wood
fibers or linters, as a result the paper is relatively strong. An additional advantage to using cotton rages
is it makes the paper flexible, therefor less likely to rip. If you use older pieces of cotton rages you
would be recycling, which I consider is another advantage. I assume that the artist used watercolor
paper that was made a similar way, but I don t know for sure.
Once you choose the material and paint you are using you might start thinking about what you re
going to paint and how to make it look the way you want it to. One way to make your paintings look
like how you want is using visual elements. There are several types of visual elements an artist can
use, including line and color. For the painting I am analyzing the artist ended up using the elements
value, and texture mostly. The element value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color. Green has a
variety of different values, and the artist utilizes these different values in his watercolor painting. For
the tree leaves, he has a darker green closer to the center of the tree, then a light color or value of
green as the leaves branch out farther away from the center of the tree. As he painted the grass, he
made it a different value of green than the trees. I believe that the artist used different values of green
to represent different implied textures. However, since he used values of the same color all the green
items in the painting seemed to belong together. As a result of the different greens there doesn t seem
too be one color that sticks out the most, they all seem to be in harmony. Even though value is very
evident in the painting, texture is also used considerably in this painting. It is used in the grass, tree
leaves, and even the

The Case of Malcolm Farley
The case of Malcolm Fairley is a unique case in which paint analysis and the use of forensic science
made investigators succeed in apprehending a criminal they were after for a long time. The role of
paint analysis in this case was enormous and to date it is one of the cases people refer to when
discussing the relationship between forensic science and crime (Smith, 2005).
In 1984, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire residents suffered sleepless nights with fear and terror in
their homes. Armed burglaries, rape as well as indecent and uncouth sexual assaults became the order
of the day. The residents barred their windows, the police intensified their security surveillance on
both land and air, vigilante groups came up but still the culprit otherwise named the fox was scot free
and continued with his criminal acts. Fox continued to unleash his terror in many towns despite his
profiling by the police. He went into other towns like Tring, Cheddington, Leighton Buzzard and
Milton Keynes (Malcolm, n.d.).
In April 1984, in Linslade, Leighton Buzzard, a 74 year old woman became the first victim of the Fox.
This woman went to bed at around 9PM and after reading for an hour she put out the light and just
before falling asleep she was woken by shuffling sounds in her bedroom. When she opened her eyes,
she saw a man standing in her bedroom with gloves in his hands. This man pulled her bed covers off
and started assaulting her indecently. The woman was able to resist the advances of the

How Is Loss Used In Mid Term Break
How is Loss Experienced in the poems Mid Term Break and November? In both the poems
November, by Simon Armitage and Mid Term Break, by Seamus Heaney, the persona is compelled
into that position. They both describe loss as a traumatic experience, which the persona tries to detach
themselves from in order to accept the reality. In November, the persona is burdened with guilt and
self blame. Realising that the situation is inevitable illuminates his fears of ageing and death. Mid
Term Break is an autobiographical poem where the persona (Seamus Heany) maintains a very formal
and distant tone in order to push aside his overwhelming grief. In both poems, the persona tries to

Heaney places the powerful monostich at the end, which intensifies the sombre mood into a powerful

inescapable horror. By rhyming the phrase bumper knocked him clear with his age on the monostich

What Is The Theme Of The Tyger Poem
Earth is a confusing place. One doesn t understand it, and yet wants to know it all. He has questions
that don t seem to have answers; questions about religion, science, nature and humanity. The poet
Blake documented one such question in his poem The Tyger. He had a desire to know about the tiger.
His fascination with the animal leads him to ask many questions about it, specifically about its creator.
Wondering who made the tiger, what its origin was, he asks in what place was such a fierce creature
designed. In what he has been taught about the physical world, he finds a scary contrast between the
character of the creator and the creation. Looking at the questions Blake did, with what in mind the
creator made the tiger, where it s from, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third stanza goes on with those inquiries about the creator of the tiger. Blake asks what shoulder,
which is a metaphor for power or work, could create the tiger; he asks what art could make such a
thing. The use of the word art points to beauty, which shows mixed feelings about the tiger: both
horrible and beautiful, and perhaps somewhat allegorical. Blake s interest in the tiger continues for
two more lines, only this time he looks at the horror, and after that stanza number four delves into the
making of the tiger. This looks like blacksmith imagery, for a hammer, chain, anvil, and furnace are all
the tools of someone who forges things out of iron. This metaphorical stanza indicates two things:
first, the tiger is made of tough steel, not out of delicate silver, gold, and gems; now no longer can one
find symbols of the tiger s beauty in the poem, just of its terror. Second, In what furnace was thy brain
points to the tiger s aggressive nature, and thereafter Blake indicates that such a nature is not one from
a good place, but from a nasty hellish place, filled with fire and brimstone: from a

Nanocomposites Case Study
From the surface morphology, it was estimated that the unique hierarchical ZnSnO2@G
nanocomposite offers a high surface area which makes it a potential candidate for the SC s
application. The N2 adsorption desorption curves of the composites are presented in Figure 5(a).
Clearly, the presence of a hysteresis loop within relative pressure (P/P0 =1) confirms the capillary
condensation of N2 gas within the as prepared nanocomposite, thus demonstrating the porous
characteristic of the electrode material. The Zn doped ternary nanocomposite with RGO nanosheets
offers a very high specific capacitance owing to its high surface area and unique urchin like

This can be attributed to the fact that as the current is directly proportional to the flux, the magnitude
of the current should be fast at faster scan rate and slow at slower scan rates.40 The CV curves reveal
that the maximum current density and an enhanced capacitive area were observed for the
nanocomposites ZnSnO2@G. This observation can be explained based on the fact that graphene with
its 2D structures exhibits enhanced conductivity, higher surface area, and better capacitive behavior as
compared to CNT. However, the Zn doped nanocomposites have enhanced current densities as
compared to SnO2 based nanocomposites, probably because of two reasons viz. First, the
incorporation of Zn2+ ions as dopants decreases the size, and second, the substitution of the Zn2+ ions
for the Sn4+ ions modifies the surface and forms more oxygen vacancies for charging compensation.
Thus, the CV curve confirms the successful interaction between the metal oxides and graphitic forms,
as also expected from the surface area and FESEM morphologies.

Comprehensive Sexual Education or Bust
In the united states, there are two schools of thought when it comes to educating students on human
sexuality. Sexual education is a broad term that applies to the teaching to information from basic
contraceptive use, biological reproduction, the spread of infectious disease, and sexuality. One type of
sexual education is referred to as Comprehensive Sexual Education. Comprehensive Sexual Education
is curriculum rooted in health and life skills, that strives to teach students medically accurate
information on healthy relationships, development, side effects and benefits of birth control methods,
abstinence lifestyles, and how to avoid unwanted sexual advances. The other type of sexual education

Consent is not the only lacking aspect in Sex Education throughout the country, a lot of important
ideas and information is debated and left out of the classroom due to fears of stepping on toes, or
touching on age old ideas about sex and religion. Over the years many have argued that parents
personal liberties must be protected when it comes to educating their children. In most states these
liberties are presented in a manor that allows for the religious opposition to sexual education. Robert
P. George and Melissa Moschella, academics from Princeton recently published an article titled Does
Sex Ed Undermine Parental Rights? in the New York Times, about the idea that Sexual Education
does in fact violate parental rights and liberties. Here, in a selection from the piece, even the secular
side of the argument against Sex Ed in the classroom is visible, True, the state needs to protect
children from abuse and neglect. It is also true that the state has a legitimate interest in reducing
teenage pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. But it is not abuse or neglect to
protect the innocence of preteenage children or to teach one s children more conservative, as opposed
to more liberal, moral values. Nor is it wrong or unreasonable to limit the state s control over what one
s children learn and think about sensitive issues of morality...Turning a classroom into a mandatory

Significance Of The Green Light In The Great Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald portrays Gatsby as the character that does not experience a dramatic

Griffith compares these scholars to the likes of Plutarch and lists the penalties for those giving bad
advice and the rewards for those that were talented. The author of The Art of War was one such author,
and although the author is still in question his works were successful enough to survive the ages.
The fourth chapter, War in Sun Tzu s Age, gives a brief historical description of how war was
conducted prior to 500 B.C., which was mostly considered civilized and with mutual respect. But
during the era of Sun Tzu, war had become ferocious and Griffith shares an account of three thousand
condemned men forced to commit suicide by cutting their own throat. (p. 33) The more brutal warring
became; the more insight of successful combating was sought. Sun Tzu s doctrine includes the
soldiers of the time with the armies composed of swordsmen, archers, spearmen, crossbowmen, and
chariots who found themselves using techniques of tactical reconnaissance, to observation, flank
patrolling, and security issues. (pp. 36, 38)
Sun Tzu on War, chapter five, is Griffith s description of Sun Tzu s recommendations in strategy for
winning battles. The best way to win a battle is by not having to fight it at all, and when a war has to
be conducted it should be applied so that victory was gained

Pearl Harbor Accuracy Essay
Pearl Harbor
The movie Pearl Harbor is historically inaccurate because of the fact that it doesn t have a correct
order of events, appropriate weaponry and because of it s usage of props that were unavailable at the
time. First of all in the movie Pearl Harbor, the actual sequence of events that occured on December 7,
1941 was that the japanese sent two seperate waves of fighter planes to attack the U.S Naval base of
Pearl Harbor. (Memorials) However in the movie Pearl Harbor the attack on the naval base was
depicted as being just a single wave of japanese fighter pilots. This greatly affects the movies
credibility of being historically accurate by providing a false picture of what happened at the attack of
the Naval base.

specifically the jeep that the commander is sitting in, the M 80s. The korean M 80s were invented in
around the 1950 s so it could have been around during the attack on Pearl Harbor. (Jeep) Also another
thing that proved to be historically inaccurate in the film was the the props they used. One being the
types of cigarettes they were smoking. The characters from the movie were smoking Marlboro Lights
which didn t even appear anywhere until the 70 s! (Hughes) Another prop that was used in the movie
that was incorrect for the time period of the movie which was set in the 1940 s was how most of the
characters would wear rimless sunglasses, something that definitely wasn t around during that period
of time. The rimless sunglasses weren t invented until the 60 s.

By the turn of the century hundred of small companies were producing automobiles both in Europe
and in America. By 2004, the industry was in different stages of its life cycle in different parts of the

a marketing strategy and overall profitability. A deeper analysis into the target market is necessary.
Problem Statement
Does the company know the size of the market?
Smart Card LLC has failed to correctly identify its target market and understand its size. They want
their product to appeal to the masses. Successfully implementing a one size fits all product without a

Smart Card LLC did not specify its pricing strategy. A comparison of price strategies with the
competition was not discussed either. One aspect not considered is that smart card users will need to

significant capital which only specific company s would be willing to pay. This severely limits the
potential market size and must be factored into its pricing plan.
Another interesting company decision is the use of regional sales force in the promotion process. By
placing its sales force into regions the company is asking them to sell to both small and large firms

Pros
American Made
If you want to purchase an American made car scraper, the Ka Bar Lake Effect is one of only a few

manufactured elsewhere. For a start, doing so will stimulate the American economy. Furthermore,
employees in Chinese factories where many other car scrapers are manufactured are often underpaid

It s important that the child doesn t get pushed aside during this transition and they are being valued. If
the child has a physical disability they may find it hard enough to cope with the transition alone
without being pushed aside and not having their needs met as individuals, providing facilities for the
child and helping them around by holding their hand as they walk or pushing their wheelchair may be
a relief for the child, adapting facilities may be of support for the child with physical disabilities such
as a disability toilet. The child shouldn t feel ashamed of their skin colour, ethnicity or religion, to
overcome this the care setting could provide display boards with pictures of children from all over the
world holding one and others hand to promote equality. The setting could also provide dolls of
different coloured skin, this may also help the child feel more comfortable in their skin especially as

TECHNOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT The company I am continuing to work with is US Airways
Group. There is plenty of hard and soft technology to list for the domestic environment. Some of the
hard technology used in the domestic environment is aircraft, security system, and safety gear. Some
soft technology used in the domestic environment is management, government regulations that govern
the procedures of the company, and training for employees. The hard technology I listed above is the
obvious technology the air line company utilizes yet there is more hard technology being used. The

I honest believe this is the only remedy for providing up to date technology, the company has to make
it a priority to provide the same technology to the global environment. The customs can be corrected
by provided a print out of what is allowed and what is not allowed to be brought into or out of a
country a passenger is traveling through. The information is available online but some older
passengers aren t as savvy with technology so they may not receive the same information. With this
tactic there is not any excuse for not knowing what is expected when going through customs. The
strategies I stated above will be successful, only if they are applied. Without application the strategy
will be a failure. Within the domestic environment the security system can be significantly improved
and decrease the risk for terrorist attacks greatly. This technology needs to be protected by requiring a
security clearance for all employees who work for the company. This way you have a thorough back
ground check on everyone who works for US Airways Group and the risk for inside information
getting out to enemies of the United States is low. Within the global environment technology needs to
be advanced. The company can protect this technology by only providing the technology to its global
counterparts and not the

SIOR
SIOR has effect on human behaviors
SIOR has become a recent research topic after IOR. In 2012, Ondobaka et al proposed that human has
tendency to give a faster response when they have the same action plan to other people s movement in
the same location. They found that participants act faster if they have the intentions similar to the
confederate co actor. IOR was first studied in interaction between human and confederate co actor
(non human) and was suggested that people react faster when they have the same intention with
another person s action (Ondobaka, 2012). However, another research observed that people tend to
react slower when they followed their partner s (real person) movement (Skarratt, Cole and Kingstone,
2010). SIOR was named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Causes And Effects Of Autism
When someone mentions electric shock therapy what comes to your mind? Is there a connection
somewhere in your family tree to Fragile X ? Are there toxins in the air that are more dangerous than
we think? Can watching too much television while you are pregnant actually be harmful to your
unborn baby? What could all of these questions possibly have in common? The answer is Autism.
Imagine the overwhelming joy of holding your healthy newborn child and counting ten perfect fingers
and toes. It is hard to believe, when you look at his big blue eyes and dimples, that he could ever be
anything less than perfect. But two years later, you hear the words your child has autism , and can t
help wondering if you are responsible in some way.
Thesis Statement
There is growing evidence that the rapid rise in reported cases of autism is caused, and influenced
equally, by genetic and environmental factors. Environmental factors include a broad range of
influences as varied as parental age, birth complications and maternal nutrition at conception, vaccines
and exposure to pollution during early brain development. Most genetic factors are considered in
combination with environmental ones. It is believed that over time genetic changes brought on by the
environment are passed on to future generations predisposing them to disorders as autism. While
thousands of dollars and countless studies claim to have found a concrete link between environmental
and genetic factors and the new

Empirical Evidence Bearing On Capital Asset Pricing Theories
This study explores the (troubling) empirical evidence bearing on capital asset pricing theories.
General formulas for the coefficient on beta and it standard error are derived, which show that the
outcomes of cross sectional tests have no causal relation to the pricing models. If a test refutes a
model, this could be because the model is misspecified or because poor proxies for true expected
returns and betas are used. Simulation and calibration results suggest that realized returns are a much
poorer proxy than estimated betas are. The noise in realized returns typically inflates the estimated
standard error, with drastic effects on the statistical power. Inferences based on ex ante returns are
more powerful but suffer from a serious size problem. JEL: G12, C31, C52. I. Introduction One
should hardly have to tell to financial economists that the noise in the data they use is critically
important: garbage in, garbage out. And yet the information surprises in returns are the neglected child
in the house of empirical finance, a neglect described by Elton (1999, p.1218) in the following terms:
When I first entered the profession, anyone using realized returns as expected returns made the
argument that in the long run we should get what we expect. Even this weak defense is no longer used
and researchers generally treat realized returns as expected returns in their tests without any
qualifications. In this paper, I shall argue that the information surprises in returns, along

  • 3. Why Creationism Should Not Be Taught in Public Schools... A hotly debated topic concerning public schools centers on the origin of life. Now more than ever, science and religion are butting heads. What should public schools teach to their students? Alex Rainert reasons that both science and religion are engaged in the same project, to discover the origin of life (141). In short, one could better describe the debate as a crusade between evolutionists and creationists; both sides have their well founded arguments, but when one looks at the decisions of the courts, clearly only one side may win the battle when deciding biology curriculum in schools. Despite an overwhelming number of individuals in favor of teaching creationism in public education, science classes should refrain from becoming a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Otherwise, teaching creationism encroaches upon separation of church and state. Certainly many Americans in favor of teaching both theories may do so for the sake of imparting critical thinking skills to our schoolchildren. Costley and Killins agree with this notion, emphasizing that true academics teaches schoolchildren alternate theories as well as analytical thinking (5). As a result, creationists weigh in heavily at schools, compelling them to introduce other scientific theories dealing with the origin of life (Raymo 152). In this regard, when it applies to all area of academics, many more people would agree. Teaching only one theory on any matter seems indicative of a totalitarian form of education. Therefore, teachers should want to introduce students to as many alternative theories as possible. However, the dissenting theories they present must have factual ground on which to stand on. Since the theory of creationism stands on shaky ground scientifically, it should have no place in science education classes. Interestingly, Alex Rainert, a man in favor of teaching both creationism and evolution, states that evolution is as much a theory as the theory of plate tectonics or Einstein s theory of relativity. Yet, he explains, a campaign against those theories in courtrooms is, in essence, nonexistent (140). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ability to bring a story to life on a big screen, using technology is magic. To be able to use a camera and transform an idea into reality has allowed one to visualize written words. The movie industry is a broad and vast field, but has transformed, connected, and influenced the way one see s reality. These movies have the ability to transforms an idea into a moving picture by the use of technology, allowing one to connect to the story, and influence in the way one perceives it. The movement of pictures, or movies as they are now called, dates back to the late 1800s . With the introduction of these moving pictures and the technology that was used to make, these movies have changed the world as one view it. Today movies are as easy to access through phones, televisions, and at the movies theaters; however, does the easy access of viewing movies through one s phone affect the making of these movies and the movie industry (The History of Motion Pictures, n.d.)? • 9. Love, And Platotic Aspects Of Love By William Shakespeare During the English Renaissance, there was a bloom of literature, fueled by the advent of the printing press and the patronage of the nobility. Beginning with Petrarch s popularization of the Italian form, the sonnet became the English mainstay for portrayals of love. The progression of the Renaissance saw the experience of love detailed in many different ways through form, allegory, allusion, and metaphor. The fashioning of the love object in sonnets varies from writer to writer and progresses from an outward, ethereal love to an inward love, rooted in reality as the centuries progressed. Petrarchan love objects are larger than life holy in nature, whilst anti Petrarchan loves are human and flawed. Poets of this time grappled with the Platonic conventions of love: What does love mean on the grand scale? What constitutes the ideal experience? Is love a reflection of the holy, or is it a reflection of our most base human qualities? Each poet crafted their image of the love object in varying ways: Francesco Petrarch wrote an idol, Edmund Spenser wrote a genuine, yet ideal woman, William Shakespeare catered to harsh realism, and Lady Mary Wroth wrote of a stormy, imperfect lover. Petrarch is the father of the sonnet and his fashioning of Laura in his vast sonnet cycle set the first bar for portrayals of the beloved in English Renaissance literature. As a member of the clergy and a stringent adherent to the church, Petrarch found his principles and devotion shaken when he beheld ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The New england colonial region was established for religious freedom. The Southern colonial region settled to find gold and earn profits. There were many differences and similarities in New England and the Southern geography, economy, and culture. There are similarities and differences of the geography of New England and Southern colonies. The South had mild, rainy winters and long hot humid summers. This means, the South could grow many crops. According to A Virginia Plantation, the south had lots of plantations with tobacco and corn (Doc 6). However, New England had long cold winters and a short growing season. This means New England did not grow as many crops as the South. Instead, many colonists had small farms for their family or community. Therefore, the differences in geography helped to shape the development of the New England and Southern regions. There were similarities and differences in the economy of New england and the Southern colonies. New England colonies had small farms, lumberjacks, and shipbuilders. The colonies were near the Atlantic Ocean to help with their jobs. The coast helped the colonists trade. New England did not have slaves instead they used indentured servants to help with labor. These servants in a passage to the New World and after about 7 years they are given land and freedom. On the other hand, to make money in the South they would sell slaves to make a profit. The slaves did most of the work on their plantations. The slaves would do all of the work so their owners could make the money from the crops they grew. When they were traveling on the ship to be sold the conditions were terrible. The ship was very crowded and many of the slaves got sick. According to The Slave Flyer it states that they made sure the slaves didn t have smallpox because they would be able to sell them for more money if they seemed to be in good condition. • 14. Causes Of The Industrial Revolution By 1750, there was not much doubt that if any country was going to triumph in being the first industrial power it would be England (Hobsbawm 29). However, several factors were responsible for England s emergence as an industrial power. Some of the contributing factors for the Industrial Revolution were: the increasing importance of imperial goods such as cotton, cultural traditions that stemmed from the Renaissance and the Reformation, population change, and a government willing to subordinate all foreign policy to its economic ends. Socially, the Industrial Revolution in England changed exponentially with the growing drift between the class hierarchy. Instead of reverting to social revolution as occurred in France, England experienced political reform during the Industrial Revolution that would become a symbol of hope for thriving countries. There has been much speculation on the exact reason the Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 18th Century, but certain components are undisputed for the Revolution s occurrence there. Initially, Britain already had a large, developed supply of coal and iron which gave the British a start in mass metallurgy (Perry 286). There also was a surplus of capital available for investments to be made in new industries; however, these funds came from wealthy landowners and merchants who had grown rich in commerce through the slave trade (Perry 287). • 15. Compare And Contrast Jamestown And Plymouth Colonies Another component comparing Jamestown and Plymouth colonies would be their aspects on Indian relations. The English colonists arrived in Chesapeake Bay where the Powhatan Indians had been calling home for quite some time. There were over thirty Indian tribes totaling 14,000 Indians. This is where the first colony, Jamestown, was settled in 1607. I believe this created a lot of tension between the Indians and the new settlers considering the previous settling and attacks of the Spanish on the Indians. The Indians lived such a generous way of life welcoming the new English settlers by offering them food. However, the good intentions faded quickly after. The leader of the Powhatan Indians, Powhatan, was intending to entice the English through generosity and their selfless attitudes. Sure enough, this act of kindness was overlooked by the English colonists, and they immediately began searching for wealth such as tobacco. As we have spoken about in class, Jamestown was a colony that significantly valued material objects and wealth; whereas Plymouth colony did not focus their rule around that idea. The new colonists were so set on acquiring wealth that they failed to grow crops such as corn and beans. This led the English to depend more on the Indians for food since the Indians were very successful farmers and knew how to live off the land. Risk Of Possible Spread Of Nosocomial Infections Essay This study provides additional information in predicting the risk of possible spread of nosocomial infections to patients by determining the hospital wide incidence rate of bacterial colonization of portable ultrasound probes and coupling gels across nine departments at a single military training hospital. A total of 82 ultrasound probes and 43 coupling gel bottles will be swabbed for bacterial cultures. Each probe will be sampled randomly for cultures by swabbing four times during the 8 week period of the study. The expected result is to have less than 10% of the total 320 probe cultures will yield positive growths and none of which will be identified as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) or potential multidrug resistant organisms (MDROs). In addition, no coupling gel will yield positive growths. This study will thereby conclude that the bacterial colonization on portable ultrasound equipment and coupling gels are low incidences. • 20. Reflection Paper On Painting Before you even start painting you have to decide what type of material you will be painting on. In modern days you will most likely land on paper as the material you choose to paint on. After choosing to paint on paper you should decide on what type of paint to use. The artist s painting, I am looking at choose to use watercolor paints on a watercolor paper. Apparently watercolor paper is made with linters or cotton rags unlike how printer paper is made. Cotton rags are supposedly stronger than wood fibers or linters, as a result the paper is relatively strong. An additional advantage to using cotton rages is it makes the paper flexible, therefor less likely to rip. If you use older pieces of cotton rages you would be recycling, which I consider is another advantage. I assume that the artist used watercolor paper that was made a similar way, but I don t know for sure. Once you choose the material and paint you are using you might start thinking about what you re going to paint and how to make it look the way you want it to. One way to make your paintings look like how you want is using visual elements. There are several types of visual elements an artist can use, including line and color. For the painting I am analyzing the artist ended up using the elements value, and texture mostly. The element value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color. Green has a variety of different values, and the artist utilizes these different values in his watercolor painting. For the tree leaves, he has a darker green closer to the center of the tree, then a light color or value of green as the leaves branch out farther away from the center of the tree. As he painted the grass, he made it a different value of green than the trees. I believe that the artist used different values of green to represent different implied textures. However, since he used values of the same color all the green items in the painting seemed to belong together. As a result of the different greens there doesn t seem too be one color that sticks out the most, they all seem to be in harmony. Even though value is very evident in the painting, texture is also used considerably in this painting. It is used in the grass, tree leaves, and even the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Case of Malcolm Farley The case of Malcolm Fairley is a unique case in which paint analysis and the use of forensic science made investigators succeed in apprehending a criminal they were after for a long time. The role of paint analysis in this case was enormous and to date it is one of the cases people refer to when discussing the relationship between forensic science and crime (Smith, 2005). In 1984, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire residents suffered sleepless nights with fear and terror in their homes. Armed burglaries, rape as well as indecent and uncouth sexual assaults became the order of the day. The residents barred their windows, the police intensified their security surveillance on both land and air, vigilante groups came up but still the culprit otherwise named the fox was scot free and continued with his criminal acts. Fox continued to unleash his terror in many towns despite his profiling by the police. He went into other towns like Tring, Cheddington, Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes (Malcolm, n.d.). In April 1984, in Linslade, Leighton Buzzard, a 74 year old woman became the first victim of the Fox. This woman went to bed at around 9PM and after reading for an hour she put out the light and just before falling asleep she was woken by shuffling sounds in her bedroom. In both the poems November, by Simon Armitage and Mid Term Break, by Seamus Heaney, the persona is compelled into that position. They both describe loss as a traumatic experience, which the persona tries to detach themselves from in order to accept the reality. In November, the persona is burdened with guilt and self blame. Realising that the situation is inevitable illuminates his fears of ageing and death. He has questions that don t seem to have answers; questions about religion, science, nature and humanity. The poet Blake documented one such question in his poem The Tyger. He had a desire to know about the tiger. His fascination with the animal leads him to ask many questions about it, specifically about its creator. Wondering who made the tiger, what its origin was, he asks in what place was such a fierce creature designed. In what he has been taught about the physical world, he finds a scary contrast between the character of the creator and the creation. The third stanza goes on with those inquiries about the creator of the tiger. Blake asks what shoulder, which is a metaphor for power or work, could create the tiger; he asks what art could make such a thing. The use of the word art points to beauty, which shows mixed feelings about the tiger: both horrible and beautiful, and perhaps somewhat allegorical. Blake s interest in the tiger continues for two more lines, only this time he looks at the horror, and after that stanza number four delves into the making of the tiger. This looks like blacksmith imagery, for a hammer, chain, anvil, and furnace are all the tools of someone who forges things out of iron. This metaphorical stanza indicates two things: first, the tiger is made of tough steel, not out of delicate silver, gold, and gems; now no longer can one find symbols of the tiger s beauty in the poem, just of its terror. Second, In what furnace was thy brain points to the tiger s aggressive nature, and thereafter Blake indicates that such a nature is not one from a good place, but from a nasty hellish place, filled with fire and brimstone: from a ... Clearly, the presence of a hysteresis loop within relative pressure (P/P0 =1) confirms the capillary condensation of N2 gas within the as prepared nanocomposite, thus demonstrating the porous characteristic of the electrode material. This can be attributed to the fact that as the current is directly proportional to the flux, the magnitude of the current should be fast at faster scan rate and slow at slower scan rates.40 The CV curves reveal that the maximum current density and an enhanced capacitive area were observed for the nanocomposites ZnSnO2@G. This observation can be explained based on the fact that graphene with its 2D structures exhibits enhanced conductivity, higher surface area, and better capacitive behavior as compared to CNT. However, the Zn doped nanocomposites have enhanced current densities as compared to SnO2 based nanocomposites, probably because of two reasons viz. First, the incorporation of Zn2+ ions as dopants decreases the size, and second, the substitution of the Zn2+ ions for the Sn4+ ions modifies the surface and forms more oxygen vacancies for charging compensation. Thus, the CV curve confirms the successful interaction between the metal oxides and graphitic forms, as also expected from the surface area and FESEM morphologies. If the child has a physical disability they may find it hard enough to cope with the transition alone without being pushed aside and not having their needs met as individuals, providing facilities for the child and helping them around by holding their hand as they walk or pushing their wheelchair may be a relief for the child, adapting facilities may be of support for the child with physical disabilities such as a disability toilet. The child shouldn t feel ashamed of their skin colour, ethnicity or religion, to overcome this the care setting could provide display boards with pictures of children from all over the world holding one and others hand to promote equality. Business Theory Professor Rachel Nagel American Military University March 31st, 2012 TECHNOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT The company I am continuing to work with is US Airways Group. There is plenty of hard and soft technology to list for the domestic environment. Some of the hard technology used in the domestic environment is aircraft, security system, and safety gear. Some soft technology used in the domestic environment is management, government regulations that govern the procedures of the company, and training for employees. The hard technology I listed above is the obvious technology the air line company utilizes yet there is more hard technology being used. The soft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I honest believe this is the only remedy for providing up to date technology, the company has to make it a priority to provide the same technology to the global environment. The customs can be corrected by provided a print out of what is allowed and what is not allowed to be brought into or out of a country a passenger is traveling through. The information is available online but some older passengers aren t as savvy with technology so they may not receive the same information. With this tactic there is not any excuse for not knowing what is expected when going through customs. The strategies I stated above will be successful, only if they are applied. Without application the strategy will be a failure. Within the domestic environment the security system can be significantly improved and decrease the risk for terrorist attacks greatly. This technology needs to be protected by requiring a security clearance for all employees who work for the company. This way you have a thorough back ground check on everyone who works for US Airways Group and the risk for inside information getting out to enemies of the United States is low. Within the global environment technology needs to be advanced. The company can protect this technology by only providing the technology to its global counterparts and not the ... In 2012, Ondobaka et al proposed that human has tendency to give a faster response when they have the same action plan to other people s movement in the same location. They found that participants act faster if they have the intentions similar to the confederate co actor. IOR was first studied in interaction between human and confederate co actor (non human) and was suggested that people react faster when they have the same intention with another person s action (Ondobaka, 2012). However, another research observed that people tend to react slower when they followed their partner s (real person) movement (Skarratt, Cole and Kingstone, 2010). SIOR was named ... • 47. Causes And Effects Of Autism When someone mentions electric shock therapy what comes to your mind? Is there a connection somewhere in your family tree to Fragile X ? Are there toxins in the air that are more dangerous than we think? Can watching too much television while you are pregnant actually be harmful to your unborn baby? What could all of these questions possibly have in common? The answer is Autism. Imagine the overwhelming joy of holding your healthy newborn child and counting ten perfect fingers and toes. It is hard to believe, when you look at his big blue eyes and dimples, that he could ever be anything less than perfect. But two years later, you hear the words your child has autism , and can t help wondering if you are responsible in some way. Thesis Statement There is growing evidence that the rapid rise in reported cases of autism is caused, and influenced equally, by genetic and environmental factors. Environmental factors include a broad range of influences as varied as parental age, birth complications and maternal nutrition at conception, vaccines and exposure to pollution during early brain development. Most genetic factors are considered in combination with environmental ones. It is believed that over time genetic changes brought on by the environment are passed on to future generations predisposing them to disorders as autism. While thousands of dollars and countless studies claim to have found a concrete link between environmental and genetic factors and the new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Empirical Evidence Bearing On Capital Asset Pricing Theories This study explores the (troubling) empirical evidence bearing on capital asset pricing theories. General formulas for the coefficient on beta and it standard error are derived, which show that the outcomes of cross sectional tests have no causal relation to the pricing models. If a test refutes a model, this could be because the model is misspecified or because poor proxies for true expected returns and betas are used. Simulation and calibration results suggest that realized returns are a much poorer proxy than estimated betas are. The noise in realized returns typically inflates the estimated standard error, with drastic effects on the statistical power. Inferences based on ex ante returns are more powerful but suffer from a serious size problem. JEL: G12, C31, C52. I. Introduction One should hardly have to tell to financial economists that the noise in the data they use is critically important: garbage in, garbage out. And yet the information surprises in returns are the neglected child in the house of empirical finance, a neglect described by Elton (1999, p.1218) in the following terms: When I first entered the profession, anyone using realized returns as expected returns made the argument that in the long run we should get what we expect. Even this weak defense is no longer used and researchers generally treat realized returns as expected returns in their tests without any qualifications. In this paper, I shall argue that the information surprises in returns, along ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
