Writing Essays For Dummies
Writing an essay on the topic "Writing Essays For Dummies" might seem paradoxical at first
glance. It's akin to asking a swimmer to explain the nuances of swimming while still treading
water. The challenge lies in navigating the fine line between offering valuable insights and
ensuring accessibility for those unfamiliar with the art of essay writing.
The difficulty begins with the need to strike a balance between depth and simplicity. On one
hand, the essay should provide meaningful guidance to novices, breaking down complex
concepts into digestible portions. On the other hand, it must avoid oversimplification, respecting
the intelligence of the audience and not undermining the importance of essay writing as a skill.
Crafting an essay on this topic demands a nuanced understanding of the target audience. The
language used must be clear, concise, and free from unnecessary jargon. Yet, it should also
inspire confidence in readers that they are engaging with a source that understands the intricacies
of essay composition. Striking this delicate balance requires a deep appreciation for the learning
curve associated with essay writing.
Moreover, addressing the diverse needs and backgrounds of readers poses another layer of
difficulty. Different individuals come to the table with varied levels of familiarity with the
subject. As an essayist, one must navigate these differences, ensuring that the content remains
relevant and beneficial to both beginners and those seeking a refresher.
The challenge intensifies when considering the necessity for originality in conveying information.
While the fundamentals of essay writing may be universal, the essay itself should not read like a
generic template. It requires a creative approach to presentation, finding fresh angles to engage
the audience and make the learning experience more enjoyable.
In conclusion, penning an essay on "Writing Essays For Dummies" demands finesse, intelligence,
and a deep understanding of the delicate balance between simplicity and sophistication. The
difficulty lies not only in demystifying the process but in doing so in a manner that respects the
intelligence of the readers while catering to a broad spectrum of backgrounds. It's a task that
requires the careful weaving of words to create an educational tapestry that is both accessible
and enriching.

Voltaire s Ideas Of The French Revolution
Voltaire s ideas were special, but many people of France did not like Voltaire because
he somewhat agreed with having a monarchy. However, Voltaire believed in equality
which was extremely important for the French Revolution. Voltaire wanted
individualism, which was one of the main things keeping him on good terms with the
people. Though he also believed that the government would fail without a proper
structure with a monarch. (Voltaire11). If all the people in France had a lot of power,
then the structure would be bad. Although other philosophers did not want an
absolutist government and wanted the current one removed, these ideas from Voltaire
helped accomplish a government with with structure and equality. (Voltaire 13). One

The Tennis Court Oath was a pledge made by the third estate who were locked out
of a meeting of the Estates General, so they decided to take action. They went to a
nearby indoor tennis court and vowed to fulfil with zeal and fidelity the duties which
devolve upon them, and those duties included creating a new constitution for France.
(TCO 462). The oath was reasonable and necessary because the Enlightenment ideas
that influenced it sparks the French Revolution. They want to discard the Divine
Right of Kings and solve the financial crisis of France. The Tennis Court Oath was
the offshoot of the preceding Enlightenment and its political thought and equally that
most if not all revolutionaries were steeped in the political thought of the
philosopher. (Arnold 67) Through these Enlightenment ideas, the third estate want
nothing to do with the Divine Right of Kings as they believe it is shambolic. They
want to limit the power of an Absolute Monarch. (TCO 464). They are demanding a
parliament with two houses and elections; this is where Montesquieu s ideas are
evident. (TCO 471). They wanted equality, fair constitutions, and they were heavily
focused on civil liberties as civil rights needed to be defined in a constitution. (TCO
467). The principle events following the meeting of the Estates General at Versailles

Why I m Considering Becoming a Mechanical Engineer
Essay
Finding out how and why things work and discovering how products are made has
always my passion. I regularly watch engineering and science shows on the
television. From my childhood, I have always been a very curious person who
would not believe just because someone told me, but I had to know the reason
behind it. Science always fascinated me, and I always wondered how we remained
on the ground and never fell off something that is spherical. In school I was more
interested in maths and science rather than History or Arts and this made me choose
Chemistry, maths and physics as my Higher subjects. This has helped me appreciate
how Science has been utilised to improve man s life and make it easier. It is because
of this that I would like to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apart from my curriculum, I am involved in various extracurricular activities such
as cricket and basketball. I am also involved in chess club helping me to develop
my detail orientation and decision making skill all essential for mechanical
engineering. I also volunteer in my church. I organize and participate in different
activities like drama, carol service and other programs related to my culture like
Onam festival of flowers, this has enabled me to develop my leadership and
organizational skills and to work in an environment that requires patience and
ability to consider ideas of others. During my free times, I read about different
captivating things like brief history of time by Stephen Hawkings and also let my
creative side flow by drawing. It helps me to relax and soothes my mind when I am
stressed. By being involved in games and sport, I am able to build a strong mind
and good concentration which then enables me to be an effective learner. During
holidays and summer vacation I did voluntary work at the British Heart
Foundation, and I currently have a paid job at Morrisons where I enjoy working as
a part of a team. My personal strengths are that I am a keen learner and organized
person because like Benjamin Franklin I believe that if I fail to plan then I am
planning to fail. Above all I am confident that I have made the right choice and that I

Oregon Border Dispute Dbq
Imagine, you are a soldier for the United States military. You hear that the dispute
over the Oregon Territory has greatly escalated, and that you might have to go to
war, and be separated from your family again. You pray and pray that you won t
have to risk your life once again over another argument. Fortunately, many soldiers
were relieved when they didn t have to go to war over the dispute. Still, the argument
was extremely heated and impacted the history of many countries. The Oregon Border

should expand their borders and claim the Oregon Territory. The Oregon Territory
includes present day Oregon, Washington, and almost all of British Columbia (Office
of the Historian). The Treaty of Oregon was signed by the British and the Americans
on June 15,1846. The Oregon Territory was present day Washington, Oregon, and
Idaho.
Not only was the southern border under dispute, the northern border between
Canada and the U.S. was under dispute as well. The Treaty of 1818 called for a
temporary solution joint occupation. James K. Polk was elected in 1844 and
claimed the entire Oregon Territory for himself. He wanted to claim the entire region
and go to war with the British. The Mexican American War helped us gain new states
for short amounts of time. The debate on slavery was also short term.
Spain and Russia had surrendered their claims to the region, but the United States
and Britain were active claimants in the 19th century s early years. The matter s
resolution was delayed by the Anglo American Convention of 1818, in which both
parties agreed to a temporary policy of joint occupation of the region. This
accommodation was extended in 1827 (The Oregon Treaty). The U.S. and the British
were in a fight for a long time about where they should permanently extend the
boundary to the north or to the south. The Oregon Trail weakened the British request
to extend the southern border, because many people were traveling to Oregon along

Threat of Hackers on the Internet Essay
Research Critique The ability of the attackers to rapidly gain control of vast number
of Internet hosts poses an immense threat to the overall security of the Internet
(Staniford, Paxson Weaver, 2002). Once compromised, these hosts can not only be
used for massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, but also steal or
corrupt great quantities of sensitive information by confusing and disrupting the
network in more subtle ways (Honeynet, 2005). The attackers accomplish this task
by sending an intrusion agent commonly known as В‘worm . There are two major
types of malicious codes in the wild (Todd, 2003, pp. 2). These codes are
differentiated by their means of propagation: worms are self replicating, self
propagating,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First article that discussed self replicating code within a C compiler appeared in
1984 by Thompson. Morris worm was launched in 1988, which had a devastating
effect on the Internet (Todd, 2003). Most research conducted so far has focused on
modeling and detection of the Internet worm propagation. However, the final
objective of the research is containment and elimination of these worms, which has
not received enough research (Zheng Duan). This paper discusses the possible
future network attack which will probably use an organized army of malicious
nodes called malnets. These malnets are capable of delivering many different types
of attacks. According to several researchers who are working on finding out how the
malicious worms propagate on the internet the ground has already been set
(Honeynet, 2005; Zheng Duan; Geer, 2005; Staniford, Paxson Weaver, 2002).
However, partly due to the lack of understanding of the resiliency and efficiency a
malnet can have, countering malnets has been ineffective (Li, Ehrenkranz Kuenning,
2005). Placement of the article in the literature The paper is very recent and
appeared in 2005. Since the paper has an interesting and unique topic both in security
of the Internet and how distributed systems of malicious bots work it can be
considered both as emerging seminal work

Theravada Buddhism Compare And Contrast
Comparing and Contrasting Theravada Buddhism and Socially Engaged Buddhism

Introduction: Buddhism is a very intricate and fascinating major religion of the world.
There are many parts and parts and practices that make Buddhism complex. The root
of the Buddhist religion favors to the traditions and practices that surround the
enlightened one known as the Buddha. Although Buddhism is a very hard religion to
comprehend, it can be split into three main categories, Theravada, Mahayana and
Vajrayana. This paper will go into Theravada Buddhism and how it correlates and
differentiates with socially engaged Buddhism. The Theravada tradition preserves a
wide variety of meditation techniques for cultivating the mind, derived from the early

With socially engaged Buddhism, you can take parts of Theravada Buddhism and
the suffering in your personal life while being able to be socially engaged in
society, and also worry about others sufferings in the real world. Socially engaged
Buddhism originated from those wanting a voice towards corrupt governments. This
Practice shows that you can have a say in a peaceful manner. (Although there have
been instances where socially engaged Buddhism and governments have not always
been peaceful). Either way, peaceful or not, there has always been some sort of
social change. That is the main lesson those should take away from socially engaged
Buddhism. With the power of religion (Buddhism), and taking away other lessons
from the other main branches, such as Theravada, important social can come through
the power of those who practice religion and that is the lesson we should take

Otherwise, they seldom acknowledge uncomfortable truths. I m telling you so that
you can decide whether to have it. I cannot fathom why Stinguard has chosen to
disregard any words of warning! Unfortunately, there are many instances in human
history where people have looked the other way, Liam said, bleakly. There are
several reasons leading people to ignore uncomfortable truths. Either it may not affect
them yet, or they don t want to acknowledge all the darkness in the human heart. In
my experience, looking the other way, usually leads to even greater trouble in the
end. Only one of the numerous examples to illustrate this is the build up to the
atrocities in Nazi Germany. It began with the persecution of the disabled, Roma
gypsies, Catholic priests, as well as Jehovah s Witnesses and later spread to the Jews.
Furthermore, physicians such as Dr. Josef Mengele and Dr. Eduard Wirths conducted
cruel human experiments in the concentration camps. For instance, one study
involved deliberately inflicting wounds on the prisoners to assess antimicrobial
efficacy. Nonetheless, the world remained silent until World War II erupted in 1939.

Quentin Stevens
There are many studies about how public spaces are designed, preserved and used
to address their social functionalities. For instance, Quentin Stevens in his book The
Ludic City: Exploring the potential of public space is interested in nonfunctional
uses of public spaces. He is focused on how people play to explain the potential
perception and the use of the built environment1 . In the introduction of his book he
stats that people experience public spaces in three ways: the way people sense urban
settings, move through them and act within them. He explains that everyday life in
the public realm reflex several social needs, including the need for play. The density
and diversity of activities assembled in a public spacemeans mixing, interaction,...

It is the force of the human presence in the world (Paul Shepheard). Considering the
fact that the characters of utopia have begun to change to the urban design society
possible by advances in technologies and engineering, since the new technologies
have a potential for playing, we shall be questioning concerning technology. To do
so, we need to be able to experience the technological within its own bounds and
ask: what are the social impacts of the new technologies within the society? We live
in a technological age, in our daily lives, we are more and more surrounded by and
interfaced with new technologies. We live in and trough the new evolution of
technology in daily life. From workplaces to homes to our towns, human experience
is to an unprecedented extend the experience of being interfaced with new
technologies, of imbibing their logic, of being surrounded by them and seeking them
out. Technology is growing so rapidly and its controversies are an important feature
in society today. While some believe they are morally obligated to increase the power
and presence of technology in the world, on the other hand, many believe that there
are general moral obligations to reduce the power and presence of technology. There
are many arguments in this case. For instance, in Arendt s interpretation of modernity
when she articulates the concept of Earth Alienation , discusses about the new
science and development of natural science in the modern age. She is concerned
about the issue and stats that, the modern age has brought us too close to nature by
elevating labor, the most natural of human activities, to the highest position within
the vita activa306. She knows this process as shifting from thing itself to its
fabrication process, which Instead of creating public spaces for action, deliberation,
and discussion, we are engage in the production of things that are by her definition
destructible and perishable.307 Moreover, she express that
Ambition In Macbeth
Macbeth is a play that took place on medieval Scotland. The play is based on
Macbeth s ambition to become the King of Scotland. The play has three witches that
have a vision that Macbeth is going to become the next king of Scotland and that his
friend Banquo will beget a line of Scottish kings, although Banquo will never be king
himself. This vision became the core of the play even though Macbethwas one of
King s Duncan favorite generals. This wasn t a sufficient reason to stop Macbeth
from perusing the ultimate goal, which was to commit Treason, kill the king and
become the king of Scotland.
Macbeth and Banquo were well known in this play, because of the act valor and
courage that had to defeat two different armies one from Ireland, led by

Schopenhauer s On The Sufferings Of The World Essay
In On The Sufferings of the World, Arthur Schopenhauer has a pessimistic outlook
on life. He believes that suffering is a part of life and that without suffering, the
world would be an even more miserable place. As many people may assume, life
gets better as you grow older. Schopenhauer however disagrees with this statement
and claims that life continually deteriorates. Before reading this piece I strongly
believed that I was an optimist. I always like to see the bright side of situations but,
Schopenhauer really gave me a different outlook on life, a pessimistic view, and I
surprisingly agreed with many of his ideas. Although this is true, at the end of the
reading, I disagreed with more ideas than not. Therefore, I do not think that
Schopenhauer s account on life is a good proposal to live by because not everyone
is continuously miserable in their life and it is perfectly reasonable to have a positive
outlook on life.
Schopenhauer believes that our whole lives are supposed to consist of suffering. He
states, It is the good which is negative; in other words, happiness and satisfaction
always imply some desire fulfilled, some state of pain brought to an end (1). When
we are happy we are not suffering and according to Schopenhauer this is bad. I on
the other hand disagree with this idea and propose the question of whether or not
happiness is truly something that could be considered negative? Personally, I don t
see any negative aspects to being happy and I don t believe
The Cotton Mill Was Extremely Hot Today
The cotton mill was extremely hot today. Westley had been forced to work at this
mill at the age of 5 and continues today. Westley was skinny and short with
chestnut brown hair that covered his face. He had a short nose and eyes as brown
as the River Thames. His boney face was dotted with freckles. He almost couldn t

the way he is? The conditions were horrible and he was treated like garbage but he
could never leave. He would be stuck here in London his entire life. All he ever
wanted to do was move to America and become a land owner but that would never

Two months had passed and it had still been the same routine. Westley was just

Thomas! Richard! He shouted running through the mill.
Then he saw it. Lying there on the floor was Thomas. Richard was on his knee

almost no one knew anything about including his name, pushed him out of the way.
The manager stared hitting Thomas chest until a look of sudden realization fell upon
his face.

Essay on Karen Horney V. Alfred Adler
Karen Horney and Alfred Adler are two very similar yet different neo analytic
theorists. At first glance, it may appear that Horney stole some of Adler s best
ideas. It is, of course, quite conceivable that she was influenced by Adler. It is
clear, for example, that Horney s three neurotic solutions are very close to Adler s
personality typology. Horney proposed a series of strategies used by neurotics to
cope with other people and Adler developed a scheme of so called personality types
that he intended to illustrate patterns that could denote a characteristic governed
under the overall style of life. Horney s Moving Toward suggests that people are
always attempting to make others happy, gain love and to secure that approval and...

This she felt was the childhood feeling of being alone, isolated and helpless in a
potentially hostile world. According to Horney, basic anxiety results not from sexual
or aggressive conflicts but from disturbances in the child s relationship with his or
her parents. Things such as rejection, punishment, the breakdown of trust and
overprotection can all lead to excessive anxiety, according to Horney. Being raised
with trust, love, warmth and tolerance minimizes this. Horney, like Adler, believed
that childhood environment is a major determinant of human behavior. Horney
believed that the environment of childhood played a key role in personality
development. She felt strongly that negative experiences in early childhood could
trigger anxiety in adulthood. She suggests that one who grew up in an environment
often characterized by neglect, brutality, or hypercritical behavior would become an
aggressive child. One who grew up in an early environment characterized by
cramping influences that were so subtle or powerful that rebellion doesn t work
would become a detached child. The detached child finally just withdraws. Adler
saw that what is learned in the family, is central to one s later self image,
relationships, work, marital choices, parenting, moral behavior, and how one pursues
one s goals. Adler felt that there were three basic childhood
The Pros And Cons Of Electronic Voting
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a ballot is defined as, a sheet of
paper used to cast a secret vote or the action or system of secret voting . Why talk
about what a ballot is though? The answer is quite simple actually. There is a
question going around Eaton County right now; a question on almost every voter s
mind. Should Eaton County switch to electronic votingor stick with paper ballots? In
order to understand what this question is asking, we should look at what a ballotis,
ergo the reason of the definition of a ballot. Now there are only two decisions to the
question of electronic voting or sticking with paper ballots. In all honesty, Eaton
County should not change to an electronic based ballot voting systemand instead stay
with the paper ballots. One of the reasons why Eaton County should stick with paper
voting is because of the complications that would arise if the county was to switch to
electronic voting. There would be the hassle of getting the electronic voting
machines, of setting them up, the maintenance that would have to be done with them.
It would end up costing the county more money than the paper... Show more content

One of the many upsides to electronic voting is the fact that the voting process
speeds up. Now there is a machine doing all the counting and sending out all the
information, people don t have to count the votes by hand and send out the
information themselves anymore. There is also the fact that basic election faults,
like picking too many or no candidates can also be stopped easily by the machines
themselves. Ballot tampering is also reduced as a problem in voting fraud because
of electronic voting (Espinoza and Lin, 2007). In a place like Eaton County
though, there really is no need for electronic ballots. It is not a huge place to be in
the first place, and once again it would be a waste of time and money to do

Bloom Research and Response Paper
Bloom Research and Response Paper
Benjamin Bloom developed Bloom s Taxonomy in 1956. It identifies three domains:
cognitive, affective, and psychomotor, used to evaluate knowledge assimilated by the
learner. Each domain has hierarchical categories that progressively measure the level
of understanding achieved. This paper reviews each domain and list the categories
found within, discuss how Bloom s taxonomy apply to the case study presented by
Larkin and Burton s article Evaluating a Case Study Using Blooms Taxonomy of
Education , and highlight the benefit of Bloom s taxonomy as it relates to developing
individualized nursing instructions.

There were multiply factors that contributed to the above scenario; Larkin and Burton

The CNS chose a framework that utilized Bloom s Taxonomy of Educational

enabled the nursing team to optimize their critical skill levels. A workshop to assist
staff to navigate through the case study in a realistic manner was implemented

Irene had left England thenight before with her husband. Holmes went to her

adressed to Sherlock Holmes. The letter said that the King of Bohemia did not
have to worry about thepictures, for she loved another man better than he. It also
said that she kept thepictures only to protect herself. The King of Bohemia then

Holmes told theKing he did not want the ring, but only the picture of Irene. Count

The Marvel Of Marvel Comics
Since 1939, superheroes, such as Captain America, the Hulk, and Ironman, have
been protecting the citizens of the United States and other countries across the
world. However, these fictional guardians and protectors would not be known if it
weren t for Marvel Comics. Starting in New York City around the time of World
War Two, Timely Publications, later to be known as Marvel, began creating
superheroes who would defeat the villains of the war, and then sold these stories as
ten cent comics. Eventually the excitement of these heroes declined and Marvel
found themselves writing for different genres, such as western, fantasy, mystery, and
even Bible stories. However, when DC Comicsreleased a superheroteam known as the

Although Guardians of the Galaxy was one of Marvel s least popular comic book

took the still unfamiliar 2008 version, written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning,
and worked with it. Gunn and Perlman made many decisions with the script,
including not putting certain, important aspects of the comic books in the movie,
such as having Peter Quill s dad in the film and having Groot be a simple character.
(He was very complex in the comic books and his thoughts were written for the
readers to see, unlike the movie.) However, this allowed the movie to have more
suspense and humor, especially by not letting the audience, specifically those who
have not read the comics, know who Peter Quill s father was, which created a
cliffhanger for a second movie. The screenwriters idea worked incredibly because
the movie s opening made it the top August debut of all time, earning $94.3 million
in North America and $67.4 million internationally. The world that Gunn and
Perlman brought to life is also full of characters that an audience member would not
think they would care for, such as galactic delinquents, talking raccoons and trees,
and powerful criminals. However, the characters are written to be seen as regular

Early Childhood Education In Australia Essay
Australia is a first world country, but why is there still questions about equitable

A List of Definitions of Plant Parts
Flowers: It s all about pollen and pollination. When an animal or an insect like the
bee carries pollen, it goes from the stamen to the pistil. As a result, the flowers could
mate and reproduce.
Conifers: it s similar to flowers, but it s not by animals. The wind carries the pollen
from the plant to cones. If both parts combine, they can reproduce.
Spores: The plants use sexual reproduction with the haploid cell of one plant, and the
haploid egg of another plant. It makes a sporophyte cell, which feeds off of the
parent plant until it is mature, and they are release in the air to reproduce.
Non vascular plants are plants that do not have specialized tissues, and as a result, it
can t absorb nutrients. they draw water through their cell walls, and water reaches all
of the cells in the plant through a process called osmosis.
The cell walls contains vital needs for a plant, but it has a disadvantage. They need
water for fertilizations. The sperm must swim to the egg. They are usually not taller
than 20 centimeters, for it can t get a boat load of food. Examples include mosses,
liverworts, and hornworts.
Flowers can feed many living things, and it provides natural medicines for humans
and some animals. Without it, some additional people might be feeling sick. It s
useful in a plant s reproduction by appealing outside pollinators. When the animals
come, it pollinates the flower. Pollen is transported from the stamens to the pistils. It
s used as a nectar for birds, bats,
What Is Toru Dutt Poem
Poetry is the representation of mental thoughts, it symbolize all the conflicts that
dominate the poets mind either from childhood memories or impressions laid
down by the society which is always in the process of gradual change. Every writer
has something beforehand in mind which acts as an inspiration for his/her writing.
Every poet after being inspired need to present his mental agony or bliss in a way
that he be able to make his reader fathom the real and core meaning of the issues
tossing in his mind. The poet revamps and tries to convey his message in the form
of words which may or may not convey what he/she actually wants, so as at times

The Ballads consists of number of Indian mythical stories which originally in

work reflects another great quality of Toru as a storyteller. Her narrative and
descriptive techniques are very well presented in Ancient Ballads. If we keenly go
through the poem Savitri which is the opening poem of the Ancient Ballads her
understanding of the Hindu mythology and tales can be best noted here. This
poem being very long is the message for entire women living on earth, it describes
how the character of a women should be, the portrayal of Savitri is the portrayal of

A country known for the Angel Falls (highest waterfall in the world), the exquisite

Women Of The Medieval Times
The lives of the women in the Medieval Times, for the most part ,did not belong to
them. Choices such as marriage, intimacy, childbirth and household responsibilities
were thrust upon them by the elder family members and the men that became their
husbands. How did these women survive? Did the hardships inflicted on them day
after day on a continuous basis lead to mental illness or a religious awakening?
Perhaps the women of the Medieval Times were more intelligent and capable than
one was lead to believe. What lengths would a person go through in order to survive
an unbearable situation? Did the women of the Medieval Times truly go mad or in
some cases find Godand religion in the lowest point of their lives or did they, in
fact, find their inner strength in order to gain their freedom and pursue their rights
to happiness? Emilie Amt, an assistant professor of history at Washington College
demonstrates how women from the Medieval Times lived very complex life.
Compared to today, women in the Medieval Times did not have the freedom to do
as they desired. Their decision making choices were not accounted. Marriages, for
example, were arranged. Twelfth century girl, Christina of Markyate, opposed of her
parents choice of future husband. Despite her parents efforts to persuade her,

Seneca Falls The First Women s Rights Convention
Seneca Falls was the first women s rights convention in the United States. The
convention took place at the Wesleyan Chapel in Seneca Falls, NY, on July 19,
1848 (Seneca Falls Convention Begins). This convention was organized by two
abolitionist named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton with the help of
Martha Wright, Mary Ann McClintock, and Jane Hunt. They posted the
announcement in the Seneca County Courier on July 14, 1848. The message said
A Convention to discuss the social, civil, and religious conditions and rights of
women will be held... (American Memory). The Seneca Falls community was open
to the idea of changing public roles of women in society. So it was no surprise when
about 300 people responded to the message in the courier. The convention took place
for two days, Wednesday July 19, 1848 and Thursday July 20, 1989. During the two
day period the participants listened to multiple speeches, wrote the Declaration of
Sentiments, created 11 resolutions that proclaimed equality of all people and declared
all laws/customs that subordinated women illegitimate. The first day of the
convention was exclusive to women only. Elizabeth Cady Stantonintroduced the
Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments was a document that was
similar to the Declaration of Independence written by Stanton, it included a list of
eighteen grievances women faced and eleven resolutions. During the first day the
women read and revised the Declaration of Sentiments. One of

always went to bed feeling happy, safe, and loved. Unlike the majority of kids in my
fifth grade class with broken homes, I just knew that my parents would be together

By putting so many demands on my brother to be perfect, he took away his

Legion of Honor Essay
Throughout different time periods and civilizations come many different types of
art that would never be comparable to those of another time or place. There are
also the pieces that come from a completely different time and place, but yet they
can still be compared to one another. The Torso of a God (Egyptian, New Kingdom,
Dynasty 18, last decade of the reign of Amenhotep III, Granodiorite, 1359 1349

The statue shows the God in a good light and as a muscular and fit being, but at the
same time is portrayed in an extremely unrealistic way. The Statue of Asklepios is a
classic Greek sculpture that portrays a person of the most perfect and athletic
form. The piece is of a man standing beautifully while draped in a toga. The toga is
draped over his left shoulder and cuts across to the right side of his body near his
lower abdomen and then continues to cover his legs until his ankle. The toga also
is draped over the pieces entire back. The piece is missing his head, his left arm
and both his right foot and almost its entire right arm. The piece has a smooth, but
not glossy, exterior in all of the areas except for the parts that have been broken off.
Asklepios is portrayed as an incredible fit and beautiful being. The abdomen is
extremely muscular and shows off the miraculous fitness of the model. The toga
has many wrinkles, creating a lot of shadow and darks and lights. It also is
wrapped in a way that is both loose and tight in different areas of the sculpture. It is
tied right next to the left pectoral and the left armpit. This piece emphasizes the
muscular body of this man while at the same time portraying him standing in such a
nonchalant way through the curvature and relaxed look of the figure. And unlike the
Torso of a God, this piece clearly shows movement through the shape of the body and
the folds of the toga because

Energized, we tackled the research with fresh enthusiasm. Lieutenant Rice produced
his mobile and manipulated it. Within hours a team of top scientists joined us in our

Egg outputs. They devised a series of tests designed to address aspects we hadn t
considered. They crafted a new series of tests intended to produce unequivocal
scientific validity.
They connected instrumentation to our bodies to determine energy and oxygen

The effort continued for weeks. We confirmed the existence of non physical, Psionic

They went to great lengths to exclude potential flaws in the testing.
We failed to tap energy beyond our body s metabolism. We suspected a vast reservoir
of Dark Energy awaits our discovery. Yet we accounted for every Joule of energy

A surprising conclusion about non physical energy emerged. It is horribly inefficient.
Fitz could hoist immense weights, his muscular effort augmented by the mental. That

How My Faith Changed My Life
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps
covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to
a thousand generations (Deuteronomy 7:9). Through all generations of my family
leading up to today, my family, on my mother and father s sides, all practice the same
faith. All of my family is Catholic, most of my friends growing up were catholic,
and everywhere I looked, my faith was an important part of my life. I went to
private school for nine years; the same one many of my cousins and my siblings
attended. All of the people around me when I was a child prayed and worshiped like
I was taught to do. They were the ones that influenced me to go deeper into my faith.
Through the daily religionclasses and weekly masses, to the teachers and priest that
influenced my morals and values, I look back on those days as times I cherish. I had
learned to open my heart and let others in to take a part in my life. I set boundaries
for myself to be a respectful person and keep my faith. And most importantly, I am a
life worth living as we are all made from the same image of God. Private school is the
reason I am the person I have grown to be today and I will become tomorrow.
In the beginning of my personal journey, I had to learn to open up to the world
around me and accept everyone for who they were and what they believe in. My
limits have been tested over the years with people I thought were closest to me. With

The entrance of the studio is fixed with an airlock. There are two doors at the

Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher
Nolan
Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen
throughout the film. Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as
society accepts crime for those whose are helping them and at the same time punishes
those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime when the Batmancommits
it to help for the betterment of society; however, crimeis not accepted when it is
committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the
joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the
Labeling Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The
Labelling Approach is a theory in which an individual s identity is determined or
influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them, through the use of
serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knightwhen the Joker recruits
those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society.
This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to
create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts
into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label,
do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society.
Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a
label through committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal
society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides of society the
general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within
the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to
make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a
mental illness, and who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives
the people of Gotham as a sense of power over those that have a label, and the sense
that they have a position over society. Furthermore, the Human Rights Approach
argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of what
context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or
not. This is seen within The Dark Knight when
The Grid Model And Its Contribution To International...
Question 1
This case is review of the grid model and its contributions to international
organizational development. It talks about how Grid International design its learning
process such that it combines leadership styles with self convincing learning
methodology that creates motivation to change and organizational development. The
Grid has seven leadership styles that are based on varying concern for people and
results. The Grid approach to change takes a four step organization development
process that builds a culture of mutual trust respect and candor through discussion of
personal values, norms and behaviors against soundest behaviors needed to
accomplish standard of excellence set by participants themselves. The process begins
with individual development, then move to intact team development, group to group
development and organization strategic planning. Grid international approach to
organizational development is applied by many organizations around the globe.

In this phase, there is the development of group to group relationships. Team to team
conflicts are resolved and a cooperative relationship is build based on mutual trust and
respect. Management and unions shared understanding of cross functional roles and
develop standard of excellence for working together. The standards of excellence for
working together is the collective agreement between management and unions.
The concept of strategic human resource planning is seen in the final stage of Grid
approach to organizational development. In this stage where companies take full
advantage of people common language, standards of excellence, and skills in place to
undertake organizational wide strategic planning, it shows strategic human resource
planning.

Taking a Look at Bo Jackson
The concept of two sport or multi sport athlete enormously filters the list of great
athletes throughout history and, if used as a measuring rod, leaves us with the best
of all time: Bo Jackson. Bo Jackson is not known in Spain, despite starring in Bo
Knows Nike brand campaign that remains today, the most successful of the
multinational. In these famous ads, which have their own Wikipedia page, under
the slogan knows Bo (Bo knows), Jackson first played football and baseball, two
sports that was professional, then try your luck at basketball (with Michael Jordan),
tennis (John McEnroe), ice hockey (with Wayne Gretzky) and athletics (with Sea and
Decker). The first ad was so successful that Nike decided to do more, playing on these
occasions to cycling, football (with Welshman Ian Rush), cricket, surfing,
weightlifting, engine and horse riding. The American company found in Bo Jacksonto
a gold mine: the first athlete in history to be selected as an All Star in two different
sports (Askew, 34 35). Bo Jackson s work as America s greatest athlete of all time
shapes him as a representative of American culture because he changed both the
American past times of baseball and football, he helps Alabamians with fundraisers
that benefit tornado victims, and he set a new height to sports that still haven t been
achieved today.
Bo Jackson had a dilemma to face. He was so good at baseball and football and they
were both equally economically viable (this was what discouraged to continue
My Educational Path, Internship Experience, Community...
In elementary school, I developed a passion for programming. However, I was
discouraged by my parents, who believed that programming was only for men. In
spite of their discouragement, I still enrolled in CSE 120 because I felt inclined to
revisit my long lost interest. Although I did well in the course, I stayed hesitant to
follow my programming passion because of my parent s stereotype of Computer
Sciencestill lurked in my mind. It was the encouragement from Professor Snyder,
who said You can certainly do CS , and the effort of the Computer Scienceprogram to
promote women programmers that pushed me to ignore my parents belief and pursue
this major. With the goal of entering the Computer Science field in mind, I strived to
become a competitive candidate. My educational path, internship experience,
community involvement, and academic interests helped me foster the qualities
valued by UW s Computer Science program: creativity, leadership, and teamwork
abilities.
I was offered enrollment at UW through the Robinson Center s Academy Program
for Young Scholars, an early entrance program permitting high school sophomores
to skip their remaining two years of school to enroll in college. Even though starting
college at the age of 16 intimidated me, I stepped out of my comfort zone and
accepted this opportunity. Initially, I struggled to adjust during my first quarter,
especially when I failed my first MATH 124 midterm. After some self reflection, I
realized that my
Reflective Essay On Anne Frank
The holocaust took place from January 30, 1933 May 8, 1945. This event changed
American history forever. Thousands of people died, including the Frank family.
Anne Frank once said, In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at
heart. Anne and her family had to go through a lot of tough times during the holocaust
, but I agree with Anne, people are still good at heart. Reading this book, I noticed
that there are a lot of kind hearted actions in this book. I am agreeing with Anne and
her actions are what prove this quote right. However, I could see where some may
disagree. People like Mr. Van Daan and Mr. Dussel, have actions or ways they speak,
that are very rude.

Mrs. V. Daan: No! No! No! Don t you dare take that. You hear? It s mine. My father

often reminded Mrs. Van Daan, it s very selfish of her to keep it when people outside
are in such desperate need of clothing. So if you will please sell it for us? It should
fetch a good price. And, by the way, will you get me cigarettes? I don t care what
kind they are get all you can.
To me this is very rude, he is selling one of Mrs. Van Daan s most prized
possessions. This coat means alot to Mrs. Van Daan, and he is selling it, for what,
cigarettes. He does not think of anyone other than himself, and is very selfish. He
is getting something for himself, that he doesn t even need. Mrs.Van Daan is
crushed that he is doing this, and he doesn t even bother to acknowledge her
sadness. As I just acknowledged Mr. Van Daan s terrible and insensitive behavior, I
still side with Anne. Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone messes up, but people
will always be good at heart. No matter what, people can bounce back and prove
their kindness, that is why I still side with
Persuasive Essay About French Food
I m craving for French food. Want to go get some?
That s one phrase I ve never had to answer simply because no one brings that up.
We don t go to French restaurants on a student budget because almost anything
with the word French attached to it is a tad bit overpriced. When I think of
enjoying French food, I think of men having to wear pressed suits and women
donning their glamorous dresses and high heels, then they need to have powdered
noses and carefully coiffed hair before being served food in very large plates but
with tiny portions. It s a cuisine of the elite but for something so highly regarded it s
ironic that French food isn t too much known compared to what people know of
Italian food.
To be honest I was a bit overwhelmed when we started learning about French food
thinking that it would really be difficult to grasp, and the terms were so hard to
pronounce, it was that one time that I realized a little too late that hors d oeuvres

The question is to what extent to we really know Italian cuisine? Is it the ever so
present red sauce, oregano, thyme, olive oil and heaping amounts of cheese with

This definitely doesn t even do justice to what Italian food really is like, in other
parts of Italy they don t even use the tomato sauce for their pasta dishes, just good al
dente pasta with a bit of garlic and drizzled with olive oil but it doesn t end there.
They have fabulous seafood dishes, meat and not to mention the wine. The food
varies from place to place and it is not always what we re used to. Not everything in
the menu is just about Naples, where the famous pizza originated. There s so much
more to Italian cuisine that makes it what it is and it s definitely not just pizza and

Ultimately, in 1990, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
approved the use of surfactants in neonates. Since then, surfactant therapy is
considered as one of the few treatments that has reduced general mortality in preterm
newborns with RDS. On the basis of production, surfactant is divided into two types:
natural and synthetic (Roger Soll et al. 2001). The meta analysis of number of smaller
studies comparing synthetic and natural surfactants have shown that synthetic
surfactants with their slower response might be supported for prophylaxis use,
whereas natural surfactants with their fast response might be more suitable for very
sick infants at danger of barotraumas and pulmonary air leaks (Richard A et al,2014).
A meta analysis comparing the effectiveness of prophylactic vs. selective exogenous
surfactant administration, carried out by Rojas Reyes et al., 2012 showed that
prophylactic administration reduces the rate of pneumothorax, pneumonic interstitial
emphysema, neonatal mortality and death to more marked extent than specific
treatment (Rojas Reyes et al., 2012). Comparing the meta analysis of six
randomized controlled trails (RCTs) on the benefits of early ( 2 hours) and delayed (

that early selective surfactant administration to infants with RDS requiring assisted
ventilation leads to a reduced risk of acute pulmonary injury and a decreased risk of
Time Warner and AOL Merger Essay
Time Warner and AOL Merger
Time Warner Corporation has numerous subsidiaries which are moving media
materials across media boundaries. They are doing this in numerous ways, based on
synergies and joint ventures. For example some of these include gaining more access
to cable lines by a joint venture with US West, and merging with AOL. They are also
using a tactic called co development as properties are knitted together by sister
companies both interested in profiting off of them. This is a type of synergy because it
occurs within one media conglomerate itself, and it encourages cross media activity
between the two sister companies. Time Warner can place some of its music on its

Consumers will be more likely to buy the other product if they have bought on not
less likely. These types of synergies, which are basically collaborations within the
media conglomerate encourage sales by adding more excitement and the cross
promotion brings all of the products more visibility than they would be able to
receive on their own. This type of synergy is also happening in another section of the
Time Warner conglomerate. A Warner Books imprint, Mysterious Press is working
with a sister company, Time Warner Electronic Publishing. TWEP and online game
publisher Simutronics have joined forces to create an online, text based, interactive
mystery game that will draw on resources of Mysterious Press editors and its stable
of authors. These types of synergies can be very beneficial because they help to
bring some media material, in this case these stories across different types of medias,
and in this way they are cross advertising for each other.
Time Warner is also taking part in joint ventures which bring it more opportunities
to advertise and sell its products. For example, in 1993 Time Warner and US West
worked together to improve U.S. cable systems to an interactive fiber optic data
highway that could lead to such direct services to the home as music on demand and
video on demand. This deal was based on U.S. West investing $2.5 billion in Time
Warner Inc. which gave them a big stake (25.5%)in
Was The Boston Massacre A Massacre
On March 5, 1770, indignant Boston colonists assembled on King Street, rocketing
snowballs and launching stones at the British soldiers stationed in the English city.
The rebels heckled the troops, threatening them with weapons and ominous
declarations, inducing defensive military action by the British, leading to the deaths
of five colonial rebels...Let s try that again.
On March 5, 1770, passionate Boston colonists gathered on King Street to discuss the
inequitable, prejudiced taxes enacted by their tyrannical mother country. The British
soldiers embarked on a fervid rampage, terrorizing the colonial people with hostile
words and menacing attacks. The altercation ended with innocent colonists splattered
on the icy ground, the pure snow now stained with burgundy blood, their frosty
bodies pierced with lethal bullets, their brisk breaths reduced to clouds of death...
Much better.
If you were educated in the United States of America, you know the Boston Massacre
as the slaughtering of innocent Patriots fighting for liberty, for justice, for
freedom. Yet if you are British, the Boston Massacre is an irrelevant event in your
Civil War. The victors dictate history, therefore, perspective is skewed and history
is fabricated. Because of historical inaccuracy, you were probably unaware that the
Boston Massacre was not a massacre at all; it became a massacre through
propaganda, specifically, Paul Revere s engraving, The Bloody Massacre Perpetrated

Separation Of The Proteins Involved
Separation of the proteins involved in both species blood and serum revealed that
each was composed of a major protein. A prominent protein in the rabbit blood was
found accumulating at approximately 13kDa, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. It
was concluded that this protein was most likely hemoglobin, given the weight and
large amount present in all blood due to its necessary function of transporting oxygen
and carbon dioxide throughout the body. Hemoglobin is a tetrameric proteinof about
64.5 kDa, consisting of two chains and two chains which breaks down into each
subunit having an approximate weight of 15kDa (Yu et al, 1997). This was in
correlation with the data present in Figure 1, given that the major protein present in
rabbit blood was approximately 13kDa, which would be the subunits that make up
hemoglobin.
We hypothesized that similar proteins would also be present in bovine blood, yet
the major band present in this sample was located at much higher molecular weight
of approximately 45 kDa. Potential causes in weight differences could be the longer
amino acid sequence present in rabbit hemoglobin, 170 amino acids, versus the 145
amino acids present in bovine hemoglobin, yet this would result in bovine being
further down on the gel versus what is actually shown (Altschul et al, 1997). Given
the data obtained, potential misidentification of hemoglobin appearing as the main
protein present or possible error in lane one (rabbit blood), could explain the anomaly

British Imperialism In Nigeria Research Paper
During the New Imperialism, many regions in Africa were colonized by European
nations. In 1885, European powers, such as Portugal, France, Britain, Germany,
Spain, Italy, and Belgium, gathered altogether at the Berlin Conference, deciding on
who gets what African colony. One of the regions was Nigeria. Without consulting
the natives, the British took over Nigeriaduring the Scramble for Africa. Indeed,
Nigeria did not wanted to be colonized, so they demanded for independence by
creating a constitution legislated by the British and by electing a prime minister and
a governor general to lead their country. They elected Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, from

In the beginning of 1995 I had not yet been thought of, but there were a handful of

Braveheart is set primarily in 13th century Scotland, it covers the war for Scotland
s freedom from England. Sense and Sensibility is set in the late 18th century, it
tells of women seeking happiness and love in a world that does not want them to
have that freedom. Babe is about a pig who wants and obtains the freedom to be a

Enlightened Despot Dbq Essay
Enlightened despots held a crucial role in determining the fate of their countries, as
well as the continuation of monarchies as a whole. Their advances towards making
their countries better through enlightenment thinking were what labeled them as
great monarchs. Their religious, social, political and economic changes were all
made to help their people grow as a whole. They used their absolute power to
change their policies in order to further their people in religious and economic ways.
As any enlightened despot would tell you, an enlightened ruler should remain
absolute. Being in complete control of one s country and governing body was
essential to being labeled as an absolute despot. Document 6 reads that in Russia, the

The first and most important issue was that of religion. Due to its history of
conflict, it was important for all religions to be tolerated and for all to have equal
rights. In Austria, Prussia and Russia, toleration of religious difference was
encouraged, leading to religion becoming a personal matter, and allowed them to
move onto more beneficial dealings (Document 1, 2, 12). Another large step
towards achieving equality for everyone was to remove the power that the church
and the aristocracy held. This was done by toleration of religion and idea that the
upper class was selfish and holding the people back from their potential of
advancement. As a result, both of these lost the large amount of influence that they
held over the people (Document 9). Equality was carried over to immigrants as
well. Anyone who settled in Russia were required to follow the same laws as
everyone else in the country. However, they were not required for perform extra civil
duties or pay extra taxes than the born citizens did with the requirement that they take
up agriculture or form a business to help the nation (Document 5). In Austria, Joseph
II believed that everyone should work to contribute to everyone s benefit, and not just
one s own (Document 11). In this way, equality led to furthered advancements in
economy as
Essay about Women in Buddhism
Women in Buddhism The role of women in religion, especially Eastern religions, is a
strange one. Western religions are fairly straightforward about a women s place. For
example, most Western religions (excluding the Roman Catholic Church) allow
women in leadership roles within the religious community. Judaism allows women
rabbis, most Christian religions allow women ministers, and even Islam, which does
not allow women mullah, have had many influential female sufi s throughout Islamic
history. Women have had similar roles in Eastern religion. However, the big
difference in Eastern religion is in the philosophical or scriptural attitude towards
women versus the actual, everyday role of women.... Show more content on

Hinduism is so entwined in Indian culture, as I have shown, that most other cultures
have a difficult time assimilating Hinduism into their own society. Even when
Hinduism is assimilated into a culture, such as Hindu movements in the United
States, women are sure to find discrimination in not only the traditional gurus and
swamis who are teaching them, but sexist commentaries deeply ingrained in
religious texts. Buddhism suffers from the opposite extreme. The Buddha
originally banned women from monastic practice but later reversed his decision,
allowing them to practice in separate quarters. Buddhist scriptures say very little
about women, treating them as equals. In one scripture, the Visuddhi Magga, a
monk asked: Reverend Sir, have you seen a woman pass this way? And the elder
said: Was it a woman, or a man That passed this way? I cannot tell. But this I know,
a set of bones Is travelling upon this road. (Visuddhi Magga, Ch1. FROM:
Coomaraswamy.) Although this verse attempts to show the equality of women on the
spiritual path, there was, and is, still sexual stereotypes similar to that found in the
Bhagavad Gita. Once Gautama responded to one of his disciples questions about
women by saying: Women are soon to be angered, Ananda; women are full of
passion, Ananda; women are envious, Ananda; women are

  • 2. Voltaire s Ideas Of The French Revolution Voltaire s ideas were special, but many people of France did not like Voltaire because he somewhat agreed with having a monarchy. However, Voltaire believed in equality which was extremely important for the French Revolution. Voltaire wanted individualism, which was one of the main things keeping him on good terms with the people. Though he also believed that the government would fail without a proper structure with a monarch. (Voltaire11). If all the people in France had a lot of power, then the structure would be bad. Although other philosophers did not want an absolutist government and wanted the current one removed, these ideas from Voltaire helped accomplish a government with with structure and equality. The Tennis Court Oath was a pledge made by the third estate who were locked out of a meeting of the Estates General, so they decided to take action. They went to a nearby indoor tennis court and vowed to fulfil with zeal and fidelity the duties which devolve upon them, and those duties included creating a new constitution for France. (TCO 462). The oath was reasonable and necessary because the Enlightenment ideas that influenced it sparks the French Revolution. They want to discard the Divine Right of Kings and solve the financial crisis of France. The Tennis Court Oath was the offshoot of the preceding Enlightenment and its political thought and equally that most if not all revolutionaries were steeped in the political thought of the philosopher. (Arnold 67) Through these Enlightenment ideas, the third estate want nothing to do with the Divine Right of Kings as they believe it is shambolic. They want to limit the power of an Absolute Monarch. (TCO 464). They are demanding a parliament with two houses and elections; this is where Montesquieu s ideas are evident. (TCO 471). They wanted equality, fair constitutions, and they were heavily focused on civil liberties as civil rights needed to be defined in a constitution. (TCO 467). The principle events following the meeting of the Estates General at Versailles examines this belief system which is
  • 3. Why I m Considering Becoming a Mechanical Engineer Essay Finding out how and why things work and discovering how products are made has always my passion. I regularly watch engineering and science shows on the television. From my childhood, I have always been a very curious person who would not believe just because someone told me, but I had to know the reason behind it. Science always fascinated me, and I always wondered how we remained on the ground and never fell off something that is spherical. In school I was more interested in maths and science rather than History or Arts and this made me choose Chemistry, maths and physics as my Higher subjects. Not only was the southern border under dispute, the northern border between Canada and the U.S. was under dispute as well. The Treaty of 1818 called for a temporary solution joint occupation. James K. Polk was elected in 1844 and claimed the entire Oregon Territory for himself. He wanted to claim the entire region and go to war with the British. The Mexican American War helped us gain new states for short amounts of time. The debate on slavery was also short term. Spain and Russia had surrendered their claims to the region, but the United States and Britain were active claimants in the 19th century s early years. The matter s resolution was delayed by the Anglo American Convention of 1818, in which both parties agreed to a temporary policy of joint occupation of the region. The Oregon Trail weakened the British request to extend the southern border, because many people were traveling to Oregon along the

Threat of Hackers on the Internet Essay Research Critique The ability of the attackers to rapidly gain control of vast number of Internet hosts poses an immense threat to the overall security of the Internet (Staniford, Paxson Weaver, 2002). Once compromised, these hosts can not only be used for massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, but also steal or corrupt great quantities of sensitive information by confusing and disrupting the network in more subtle ways (Honeynet, 2005). The attackers accomplish this task by sending an intrusion agent commonly known as В‘worm . There are two major types of malicious codes in the wild (Todd, 2003, pp. 2). This paper discusses the possible future network attack which will probably use an organized army of malicious nodes called malnets. These malnets are capable of delivering many different types of attacks. According to several researchers who are working on finding out how the malicious worms propagate on the internet the ground has already been set (Honeynet, 2005; Zheng Duan; Geer, 2005; Staniford, Paxson Weaver, 2002). However, partly due to the lack of understanding of the resiliency and efficiency a malnet can have, countering malnets has been ineffective (Li, Ehrenkranz Kuenning, 2005). Placement of the article in the literature The paper is very recent and appeared in 2005. There are several reasons leading people to ignore uncomfortable truths. Either it may not affect them yet, or they don t want to acknowledge all the darkness in the human heart. In my experience, looking the other way, usually leads to even greater trouble in the end. Only one of the numerous examples to illustrate this is the build up to the atrocities in Nazi Germany. It began with the persecution of the disabled, Roma gypsies, Catholic priests, as well as Jehovah s Witnesses and later spread to the Jews. Furthermore, physicians such as Dr. Josef Mengele and Dr. Eduard Wirths conducted cruel human experiments in the concentration camps. For instance, one study involved deliberately inflicting wounds on the prisoners to assess antimicrobial efficacy. Nonetheless, the world remained silent until World War II erupted in 1939. Considering the fact that the characters of utopia have begun to change to the urban design society possible by advances in technologies and engineering, since the new technologies have a potential for playing, we shall be questioning concerning technology. To do so, we need to be able to experience the technological within its own bounds and ask: what are the social impacts of the new technologies within the society? We live in a technological age, in our daily lives, we are more and more surrounded by and interfaced with new technologies. We live in and trough the new evolution of technology in daily life. From workplaces to homes to our towns, human experience is to an unprecedented extend the experience of being interfaced with new technologies, of imbibing their logic, of being surrounded by them and seeking them out. While some believe they are morally obligated to increase the power and presence of technology in the world, on the other hand, many believe that there are general moral obligations to reduce the power and presence of technology. He believes that suffering is a part of life and that without suffering, the world would be an even more miserable place. As many people may assume, life gets better as you grow older. Schopenhauer however disagrees with this statement and claims that life continually deteriorates. Before reading this piece I strongly believed that I was an optimist. I always like to see the bright side of situations but, Schopenhauer really gave me a different outlook on life, a pessimistic view, and I surprisingly agreed with many of his ideas. Although this is true, at the end of the reading, I disagreed with more ideas than not. Therefore, I do not think that Schopenhauer s account on life is a good proposal to live by because not everyone is continuously miserable in their life and it is perfectly reasonable to have a positive outlook on life. Schopenhauer believes that our whole lives are supposed to consist of suffering. He states, It is the good which is negative; in other words, happiness and satisfaction always imply some desire fulfilled, some state of pain brought to an end (1). When we are happy we are not suffering and according to Schopenhauer this is bad. I on the other hand disagree with this idea and propose the question of whether or not happiness is truly something that could be considered negative? Personally, I don t see any negative aspects to being happy and I don t believe

At first glance, it may appear that Horney stole some of Adler s best ideas. It is, of course, quite conceivable that she was influenced by Adler. It is clear, for example, that Horney s three neurotic solutions are very close to Adler s personality typology. Horney proposed a series of strategies used by neurotics to cope with other people and Adler developed a scheme of so called personality types that he intended to illustrate patterns that could denote a characteristic governed under the overall style of life. This she felt was the childhood feeling of being alone, isolated and helpless in a potentially hostile world. According to Horney, basic anxiety results not from sexual or aggressive conflicts but from disturbances in the child s relationship with his or her parents. Things such as rejection, punishment, the breakdown of trust and overprotection can all lead to excessive anxiety, according to Horney. Being raised with trust, love, warmth and tolerance minimizes this. Horney, like Adler, believed that childhood environment is a major determinant of human behavior. Horney believed that the environment of childhood played a key role in personality development. She felt strongly that negative experiences in early childhood could trigger anxiety in adulthood. She suggests that one who grew up in an environment often characterized by neglect, brutality, or hypercritical behavior would become an aggressive child. One who grew up in an early environment characterized by cramping influences that were so subtle or powerful that rebellion doesn t work would become a detached child. The detached child finally just withdraws. Adler saw that what is learned in the family, is central to one s later self image, relationships, work, marital choices, parenting, moral behavior, and how one pursues one s goals. The Pros And Cons Of Electronic Voting According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a ballot is defined as, a sheet of paper used to cast a secret vote or the action or system of secret voting . Why talk about what a ballot is though? The answer is quite simple actually. There is a question going around Eaton County right now; a question on almost every voter s mind. Should Eaton County switch to electronic votingor stick with paper ballots? In order to understand what this question is asking, we should look at what a ballotis, ergo the reason of the definition of a ballot. Now there are only two decisions to the question of electronic voting or sticking with paper ballots. In all honesty, Eaton County should not change to an electronic based ballot voting systemand instead stay with the paper ballots. One of the reasons why Eaton County should stick with paper voting is because of the complications that would arise if the county was to switch to electronic voting. There would be the hassle of getting the electronic voting machines, of setting them up, the maintenance that would have to be done with them. (American Memory). The Seneca Falls community was open to the idea of changing public roles of women in society. So it was no surprise when about 300 people responded to the message in the courier. The convention took place for two days, Wednesday July 19, 1848 and Thursday July 20, 1989. During the two day period the participants listened to multiple speeches, wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, created 11 resolutions that proclaimed equality of all people and declared all laws/customs that subordinated women illegitimate. The first day of the convention was exclusive to women only. Elizabeth Cady Stantonintroduced the Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments was a document that was similar to the Declaration of Independence written by Stanton, it included a list of eighteen grievances women faced and eleven resolutions. During the first day the women read and revised the Declaration of Sentiments. One of

By putting so many demands on my brother to be perfect, he took away his freedom to think, feel, to take risks, and to be his true self. This was a form of the Poisonous Pedagogy (Bradshaw 7) that Bradshaw talks about. Children are considered good when they think and behave the way they are taught to think and behave (Bradshaw 7). This was exactly my dad s way of thinking. He drilled that into us as children. I think my dad really meant well and wanted us to succeed in life. The Statue of Asklepios is a classic Greek sculpture that portrays a person of the most perfect and athletic form. The piece is of a man standing beautifully while draped in a toga. The toga is draped over his left shoulder and cuts across to the right side of his body near his lower abdomen and then continues to cover his legs until his ankle. The toga also is draped over the pieces entire back. The piece is missing his head, his left arm and both his right foot and almost its entire right arm. The piece has a smooth, but not glossy, exterior in all of the areas except for the parts that have been broken off. Asklepios is portrayed as an incredible fit and beautiful being. The abdomen is extremely muscular and shows off the miraculous fitness of the model. The toga has many wrinkles, creating a lot of shadow and darks and lights. It also is wrapped in a way that is both loose and tight in different areas of the sculpture. It is tied right next to the left pectoral and the left armpit. This piece emphasizes the muscular body of this man while at the same time portraying him standing in such a nonchalant way through the curvature and relaxed look of the figure. And unlike the Torso of a God, this piece clearly shows movement through the shape of the body and the folds of the toga because

Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as society accepts crime for those whose are helping them and at the same time punishes those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime when the Batmancommits it to help for the betterment of society; however, crimeis not accepted when it is committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the Labeling Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The Labelling Approach is a theory in which an individual s identity is determined or influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them, through the use of serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knightwhen the Joker recruits those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society. This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label, do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society. Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a label through committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides of society the general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a mental illness, and who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives the people of Gotham as a sense of power over those that have a label, and the sense that they have a position over society. Furthermore, the Human Rights Approach argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of what context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or not. This is seen within The Dark Knight when

We hypothesized that similar proteins would also be present in bovine blood, yet the major band present in this sample was located at much higher molecular weight of approximately 45 kDa. Potential causes in weight differences could be the longer amino acid sequence present in rabbit hemoglobin, 170 amino acids, versus the 145 amino acids present in bovine hemoglobin, yet this would result in bovine being further down on the gel versus what is actually shown (Altschul et al, 1997). Given the data obtained, potential misidentification of hemoglobin appearing as the main protein present or possible error in lane one (rabbit blood), could explain the anomaly in
  • 50. British Imperialism In Nigeria Research Paper During the New Imperialism, many regions in Africa were colonized by European nations. In 1885, European powers, such as Portugal, France, Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Belgium, gathered altogether at the Berlin Conference, deciding on who gets what African colony. One of the regions was Nigeria. Without consulting the natives, the British took over Nigeriaduring the Scramble for Africa. Indeed, Nigeria did not wanted to be colonized, so they demanded for independence by creating a constitution legislated by the British and by electing a prime minister and a governor general to lead their country. • 51. Braveheart Research Paper In the beginning of 1995 I had not yet been thought of, but there were a handful of great movies that were released. The year brought a lot to the table, the Oklahoma City bombing, O.J. Simpson s murder trial, Widows 95, many protests and marches, and the first full length computer animated film was released, Toy Story. Needless to say, it was an interesting year that brought its own highs and lows, just like every other year. In the midst of the chaos five movies were released that the Academy Awards deemed worthy of Best Picture, Apollo 13, Babe, Braveheart, II Postino: The Postman, and Sense and Sensibility. Of these nominees I had only ever seen one of these movies, Babe. The nominees were very diverse, and brought the world everything, a classic book, historic events, a different countries tragic story, and even talking animals. With such a wide variety, at least one of them would appeal to almost any person, adult or child. They each tell different stories, some of war, discrimination, love, and loss. I feel like a common theme is freedom. The freedom to do as one pleases, despite what others may say or think. The freedom of an entire country. The freedom of love. Braveheart is set primarily in 13th century Scotland, it covers the war for Scotland s freedom from England. Sense and Sensibility is set in the late 18th century, it tells of women seeking happiness and love in a world that does not want them to have that freedom. Babe is about a pig who wants and obtains the freedom to be a sheep dog. In a way, Apollo 13 represents freedom of choice, based on the space mission in 1970. II Postino: The Postman shows freedom in Ruoppolo s want to be free to read poetry. I enjoyed uncovering what I found was the underlying theme between these drastically different

  • 53. Enlightened Despot Dbq Essay Enlightened despots held a crucial role in determining the fate of their countries, as well as the continuation of monarchies as a whole. Their advances towards making their countries better through enlightenment thinking were what labeled them as great monarchs. Their religious, social, political and economic changes were all made to help their people grow as a whole. They used their absolute power to change their policies in order to further their people in religious and economic ways. As any enlightened despot would tell you, an enlightened ruler should remain absolute. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first and most important issue was that of religion. Due to its history of conflict, it was important for all religions to be tolerated and for all to have equal rights. In Austria, Prussia and Russia, toleration of religious difference was encouraged, leading to religion becoming a personal matter, and allowed them to move onto more beneficial dealings (Document 1, 2, 12). Another large step towards achieving equality for everyone was to remove the power that the church and the aristocracy held. This was done by toleration of religion and idea that the upper class was selfish and holding the people back from their potential of advancement. As a result, both of these lost the large amount of influence that they held over the people (Document 9). Equality was carried over to immigrants as well. Anyone who settled in Russia were required to follow the same laws as everyone else in the country. However, they were not required for perform extra civil duties or pay extra taxes than the born citizens did with the requirement that they take up agriculture or form a business to help the nation (Document 5). In Austria, Joseph II believed that everyone should work to contribute to everyone s benefit, and not just one s own (Document 11). In this way, equality led to furthered advancements in economy as
  • 54. Essay about Women in Buddhism Women in Buddhism The role of women in religion, especially Eastern religions, is a strange one. Western religions are fairly straightforward about a women s place. For example, most Western religions (excluding the Roman Catholic Church) allow women in leadership roles within the religious community. Judaism allows women rabbis, most Christian religions allow women ministers, and even Islam, which does not allow women mullah, have had many influential female sufi s throughout Islamic history. Women have had similar roles in Eastern religion. However, the big difference in Eastern religion is in the philosophical or scriptural attitude towards women versus the actual, everyday role of women.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hinduism is so entwined in Indian culture, as I have shown, that most other cultures have a difficult time assimilating Hinduism into their own society. Even when Hinduism is assimilated into a culture, such as Hindu movements in the United States, women are sure to find discrimination in not only the traditional gurus and swamis who are teaching them, but sexist commentaries deeply ingrained in religious texts. Buddhism suffers from the opposite extreme. The Buddha originally banned women from monastic practice but later reversed his decision, allowing them to practice in separate quarters. Buddhist scriptures say very little about women, treating them as equals. In one scripture, the Visuddhi Magga, a monk asked: Reverend Sir, have you seen a woman pass this way? And the elder said: Was it a woman, or a man That passed this way? I cannot tell. But this I know, a set of bones Is travelling upon this road. (Visuddhi Magga, Ch1. FROM: Coomaraswamy.) Although this verse attempts to show the equality of women on the spiritual path, there was, and is, still sexual stereotypes similar to that found in the Bhagavad Gita. Once Gautama responded to one of his disciples questions about women by saying: Women are soon to be angered, Ananda; women are full of passion, Ananda; women are envious, Ananda; women are
