A Minor Contract
In the state of Massachusetts, a minor may enter a contract at their own will, but may
void that contract, therefore any contract with a minor that does not fall under the
exceptions (necessities) is voidable at the minors disclosure. Some necessities can
include, shelter, food.water, clothing. If a minor is taken advantage of, for example,
being told the price of something is more than it really is, a candy bar is 10$ at the
register but $1 on the price tag, the minor may get the difference in relief. The statute
in Massachusetts says that a minor can enter a contract such as a lease, renting an
apartment, or public housing. With housing terms, housing may be considered a
necessity, depending on the minor s status. However Massachusetts courts have not
clearly defined whether they view housing as a necessity. Public housing agencies are

Buy a pair of skateboard shoes. You can use your own sneakers or rubber shoes but
it is more advisable to use skateboard footwear. Your sneakers might actually
endanger you because it is not the proper footwear for this activity.
Skateboard shoes are designed with a flat sole for a better grip on the board. It is also
built with extra support in areas which are more prone to wear and tear. This will
prevent you from accidentally slipping from your board.
2.Wear a helmet. You may often come across skaters zooming around the alleys
without a helmet. Don t mind them and don t feel intimidated.
Your safety should be your number one concern especially if you re just starting
out. In fact, if you go to a skate park, they usually require skaters to wear a helmet.
When you re starting to learn how to ride, you ll likely fall from your board a
number of times.
Wearing a helmet is a smart decision as it will protect your head from getting into a
serious injury. Just imagine if you fall and accidentally land on your head without
any protective gear. You ll wish you had just worn your helmet instead.
3.Use protective pads. Similar to wearing a helmet, the same thing goes for paddings
including elbow and knee pads if necessary. A pair of wrist braces may be a good
choice to protect your hands if you fall

Here s Where the Story Ends Fables and myths constitute the foundation of nearly
every culture, and are passed down through generations, never losing their meaning
and allure. Many factors make a story special, including its plot, essence, and
characters, but only the storyteller holds within themselves the potential to deliver a
narration that will inspire their audience and leave a lasting mark. In a quaint
example of metafiction, many novels have been published with a central theme of
storytelling. Two such examples following this concept is The Canterbury Tales,
written by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1478, and Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley
1818. Three characters in The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Have I not suffered enough, that you seek to increase my misery... Everywhere I
see bliss, from which I alone am irrevocably excluded (Shelley 68 69). The Wife of
Bath and The Monster quickly intrigue their respective audiences by flooding them
with emotion. The Wife of Bath shares her negative views on marriage, while The
Monster prepares to tell his heartbreaking story. By expressing their emotions, both
narrators are able to share their beliefs and views, impacting their listeners. This is
just one power of storytelling, where an outpour of emotions can be so powerful
moving, having a profound effect on the audience. In addition, by articulating their
emotions, the storytellers give the crowd an opportunity to enter their own minds,
further allowing the audience to experience the story from the eyes of the narrator.
Another critical facet in storytelling lies in parables, which carry moral lessons. In
his fable, the Pardoner imparts a crucial message of the destructiveness of greed. In
his prologue, the Pardoner makes his explanation very clear: But let me briefly
make my purpose plain / I preach for nothing but for the greed of gain / And use the
same old text, as bold as brass / Radix malorum est cupiditas (Chaucer 243).
Providing another meaningful anecdote is The Monster, who explains how love is a
powerful emotion that can get one through loneliness and isolation. The Monster
makes clear his message of requiring a companion: If I cannot inspire

Speaking Out about Malt Case 8.3 Page 404 405, Moral Issues in Business The
case of Whitewater Brewing and Mary Davis touches upon several views and moral
issues that are not specifically black or white. Case 8.3 specifically deals with a
business called Whitewater Brewing Co. Whitewater Brewing, as its name sounds, is
a manufacturer of alcoholic refreshments, selling its brands to various consumers.
The article in particular focuses upon a specific Whitewater product, Rafter. Rafter is
being targeted to match other similar products that are bottled in a 40 ounce size. The
unfortunate part is that these 40 ounce size refreshments are not only popular with
inner city teenagers but in the area where Whitewater sells these 40 ounce... Show

Ralph Jenkins, CEO of Whitewater, writes to Mary Davis to express the company
s views on her behavior and to ask her to first clear all further comments (regarding
her personal views on liquor production) with the business. Mary feels this to be an
invasion of her right to free speech. Additionally Mary informs Ralph Jenkins that
she seeks to pursue her article further and even speak at an engagement about her
views (personal ones). Mr. Jenkins remains adamant that Mary adhere to his
requests further escalating things to state she can either comply or resign. So
does Davis have a moral right to free speech in the workplace, or can Whitewater
determine the extent to her free speech? Also what would Davis s best path ethical
path be? The second is the easiest to answer so I will do that now. Davis could
simply put resign, enabling her to champion her beliefs and become a martyr for
her cause, as it were. As for the first question the answer is not a simple clear cut
one, and ultimately will be an individual one. Currently there is already legal
precedent that allows companies to require employees not to act or speak disloyally

Mountains Beyond Mountains Summary
Dokte Paul. the first part of the book titled Mountains Beyond Mountains, begins
when author and journalist Tracy Kidder first met Dr. Farmer in Haiti. Kidder
describes Dr. Farmer as a big shot Boston doctor who has chosen to do
humanitarian type work in Haiti even though he could have an easy career as a
lecturer back in Boston. Kidder realizes that Dr. Farmer is the atypical doctor who
would rather get to know his patients as people and cares about their health
holistically instead of just treating the symptoms and moving on. The next year, Dr.
Farmer invites Kidder back to Haitiwith him, and Kidder begins to observe Dr.
Farmer at work. Kidder notices that Dr. Farmer s patients and co workers call him
Dokte Paul; the word dokte is Haitian Creole for doctor. Kidder also observes the
unsanitary conditions of life in the Cange region of Haiti. There, Dr. Farmer
established the charity called Zamni Lasante, which is Haitian Creole for friend
health. This charity not only provides low cost or free medical care, it also builds
houses and schools. Dr. Farmer often uses his own money to help keep the charity
going, and lives very modestly despite being a successful physician. Dr. Farmer
begins educating journalist Kidder about the Haitian people, the health issues they
face, and some of their superstitions. He also explains the Haitian proverb, mountains
beyond mountains, which means that for every metaphorical mountain a person
climbs,

The Imagery Tone of a Play:
The Use of Literary Devices Imagery Tone in Krapp s Last Tape
In the play Krapp s Last Tape, there is one protagonist who is described as sitting at
a small table, listening to tapes. Krapp is an impaired and broken down elderly
man who spends his time listening to his younger voice on tapes. He is egotistical
and subjective towards his younger self and critiques the way he acted in a certain
place or time. He is lonely, but okay with it as he would rather focus on things that
he has already experienced, rather then engage in new ones. He is essentially stuck
in the past. The essay written below disputes the literary devices of imagery and tone

Imagery plays a big part in describing the character s appearance and actions in
order to show what a character is like and how they respond to differing situations.
It can also shape the story and reveal to the reader the background of a person, place,
or thing. In Krapp s Last Tape, the only character is given much detail and description
in order to start the play at a point where the reader already knows some information
about this elderly man. The literary convention of imagery provides insight into the
character that will lead the play.
Krapp, the main protagonist in Krapp s Last Tape is given a good amount of
description, leading into the beginning of dialogue. His raggedy grey hair,
disheveled clothes, and death ridden face give the reader an image of a character
that has lived through many years. It is as if he has given up on life and is
preparing for what is to come. The fact that he is also hard of hearing and has a
cracked voice, seems to have intensified the distaste towards his character. Krapp s
descriptive appearance helps to foreshadow his cynical and confined personality.
Krapp also remains motionless for most of the play. The only actions that do take
place are of him eating a banana in the very beginning and the loading of the three
tapes that Krapp focuses on in the dialogue. This imagery of him loading the tapes
and sitting at his table depicts

He says so because first, you may not be familiar with the company and second
because you will not know if there is any change of information with that particular

you will be left at a loss. This is why Peter Lynch greatly emphasizes throughout his
book on the importance of only investing in companies of which you fully understand
the nature of their business and believe in it.
Peter Lynch poses three important questions to the investor in order to self evaluate
their financial position as well as mental state before deciding to invest in the stock
market: (1) Do I own a home? He advises that buying a house first is the best type of
investment you can make as it, in the long run, just as stocks, always appreciates in
value. (2) Do I need the money now? Only invest money you can afford to lose and
will not be needing in the near future. (3) Do I poses the personal qualities necessary
to succeed in stocks? Some of the personal qualities Lynch deems necessary are lots
of patience, ability to ignore the general panic, tolerance for pain, open mindedness,
persistence, and common sense.
In his book Lynch talks about developing the company story before investing in the
stocks of any company. Being able to develop the story comes from conducting the
research of the company s financial health and
The Goal Of The Anger Principle
The goal of the Anger Principle is to rationalize why an individual is angry and
calculate the extent of their anger within a situation. When trying to decipher
whether someone is angry, I look for a few key indicators, such as antisocial body
language and aggressive verbal language. Antisocial body language includes pacing,
rubbing your head, cupping your fist with your other hand, shaking or trembling,
clenching your jaws or grinding your teeth, and sweating, especially of the palms.
Aggressive verbal language includes getting sarcastic, losing your sense of humor,
raising your voice, speaking abrasively, and beginning to yell, scream, or cry. Many
of these signs were present in my various cases. Incidentally, case one is interesting
because feelings of angerweren t associated with this decision until 3 years later.
Now, whenever I am reminded, I begin to clench my jaw and rub my head. Also, I
m not very likely to speak when I am angry, but when I do I am sarcastic and
without a sense of humor, i.e., I ll say I was such a smart kid, of course,
skateboards can take you everywhere. If anyone else attempts to make a joke about
my situation, I d blankly stared at them, conveying my anger by rejecting humor
about the situation. As for case five, my friend is a big fan of the former vice
present, Joe Biden. So, when she told me about how she felt after receiving her grade,
she reported that she was sweating, shaking, and cupping her first with her other
hand. Even as she

Taking a Look at Outsourcing and Its Risks
Introduction:
Outsourcing is contracting out with third party for a product or service. Sometimes,
outsourcing employees from one firm to another is also possible, when an
organization lacks in skilled persons and technologies. Outsourcing tools are used by
owners to run a better facility and by facility managers to build a better career. The
most common areas of facility management that are used to outsource are custodial,
landscaping, system maintenance, construction, engineering and management of
property. Outsourcing has become one of the most important knowledge areas of
project management, which is increasing with pace. Outsourcing facilities first began
at banks and expanded for manufacturing, utilities and healthcare. As the outsourcing
brought into light over time, risks began to arise. Common risks involved in
outsourcing are improper communication between client and vendor, imperfection in
project scope and improper specification of requirements. Although risks lead to
outsource disasters, it depends on how well the strategies for managing them are
carried out. Outsourcing buyers look for meeting triple constraints neglecting triple
constraints. Automation could resist organizations from outsourcing but, trends in
outsourcing bring the market value for outsourcing.
Why Outsourcing:
Organizations outsource to reduce both fixed and recurrent costs. When they
outsource for service or product, concentration would be on its core business.

Wine And Dating Research
In the 1900 s, dating was a felony. During the same time in history, BC had archaic
liquor laws. Thank goodness to progress! The similarities between wine and dating
don t end at the turn of the century. The two articles led me to notice the similarities
between the stages of dating and learning about wine.
After all, both have the same fear of looking stupid and worrying what the other
thinks of us. Since the reward for either is so good, we go ahead anyways. All those
fears fade away the more we practice and get comfortable with it. Somehow, we forge
ahead thinking about all the promise it may bring.

comes at this level, there is always more to learn about wine or a person.
For the purpose of this article I have shown the parallels between wine and dating,
but dating is much more complicated in real life. The level of dedication to learning
about wine is more flexible and personal. In the wine world, few will ever have the

The Effects Of Being On Cell Phone While Driving
Introduction Texting by adults has increased over the past months from 65% of
adults sending and receiving texts in September 2009 to 72% texting in May
2010. Still, adults do not send nearly the same number of texts per day as teens
ages 12 17, who send and receive, on average, 5 times more texts per day than adult
texters (Lenhart, 2010). Many people wonder what the affects of being on a cell
phone while driving are. Does being on your cell phone while driving actually
increase your chances of having an accident? According to an article, The National
Survey on Distracted Driving Attitudes and Behaviors, Almost half (48%) of
drivers report answering their cell phone when driving at least some of the time.
Two in 5 drivers (40%) report never answering their phones while driving.
(Schroeder, 2012) This shows that there is a good amount of people that do use
their phone while driving. According to the latest research from the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2008 alone, there were 5,870 fatalities
and an estimated 515,000 people were injured in police reported crashes in which
at least one form of driver distraction was reported (Lenhart, 2010). Cell phones
have been around for a while now, for this reason they have become a major part of
our lives. People use cell phones for just about everything in today s world: calling
people, texting, planning daily schedules, playing games, and Internet surfing. With
all the phones today being smart phones

Melba Beals Character
Melba Pattillo Beals is the main character in this book. She was fourteen years old
when she attended Central High in Little Rock, Kansas with eight other black
students. While Melba attended the high school, she was spat on, slapped, and
several sickening insults would be shouted at her. These actions led to Melba to
not even fight back but to simply just say thank you and walk away. This was one
of the factors that built up her courageous attitude that stuck with her throughout
the rest of her journey. Grandma India is another character that is significant. She
is Melba s grandmother and her backbone during the struggle of her integration at
Central High. Throughout the events within the story Grandma India was always
by Melba s side, especially when she felt like giving up on everything that was

determination by repeating the phrase God s warriors don t cry . Throughout
Melba s struggle, Grandma India would demonstrate peaceful and respectful
methods to combat the harsh treatments she received for her skin color. Towards
the end of the book Grandma India is diagnosed and later dies from leukemia, this
leaves Melba alone having to find strength in herself. In Chapter 14, when a group
of the opposite color starts to come to Melba to hurt her, one of the boys next to

The 1800s was a time period filled with not only many great advancements, but
over all a variety of people who sparked change within the Western societies. One of
these people who prompted change within their society and societal views was
Charles Darwin. Darwin developed the idea and theory of evolution; which basically
stated and supported that all life is related and has descended from a common
ancestor . Forcing change and revaluation throughout the Western world, connecting
to The Role of the Individual in History theory. Basically, discrediting the church, and
their idea of Creationism being that God created all, showing that it was systems and
social forces that helped to shape the importance of evolution . Overall Charles

Darwin proposed this idea of Natural selection in 1859 with the publication of his
book The Origin of Species . This theory caused great change in many aspects of
the Western society, mainly in the way society viewed the creation of life. In the
heavily religious society of the 1800s Darwin s theory contradicted all previous
beliefs held by the churches, thus posing a threat to the established social and
political order . This contradiction was evident in the details of Darwin s theories
which helped support evolution, this was done by stating that nature selected the
best adapted varieties to survive and reproduce . A theory which greatly differed
from the previously instituted belief that God was the creator of all life, which was
the reason sparking mass upheaval from the churches, as well as the people. This
drastic change within society is what made Charles Darwin such an important

Jesse Owens Research Papers
Jesse Owens full name was James Cleveland Owens. Jesse was born on September
12, 1913 in Oakville, Alabama and died on March 31, 1980 in Tuscan, Arizona. As
a kid he was expected to work in cotton fields even when he was sick. He was sick
with chronic bronchial congestion and pneumonia. While he was in the fields
Jesse had to carry 100 lbs. a day. On Sundays he had to go to church and on Sunday
nights he went to bed as soon as the sun went down. He went to bed that early
because he had to get up at 4:00 in the morning to work the fields. When Jesse
turned 9 he moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Jesses father had trouble keeping a steady

Jesse played for the Harlem Globetrotters. Jesse married a girl named Ruth Solomon

him back with open arms, the only thing they wouldn t do was give him a job. After
he retired from running he opened a business in Chicago, Illinois. The business was

conventions and other business gatherings. Jesse was wanting to be in baseball or

athletic events or making a spectacle of himself. Finally Jesse quit and went back
to Cleveland. In Cleveland he went to work at the playground. One night he was
visited by someone from Australia. He and Jesse talked about the Olympics.
Around nine o clock the Australian left. Jesse moved to Detroit. His mother died
and soon after his father did too. Detroit and Cleveland had made bad memories

Essay about Existentialists in the Television Show...
Children across the world enjoy the television show Spongebob for its loveable
characters and humor. The most prominent of these characters is Spongebob
Squarepants, a personified sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea, in a
town called Bikini Bottom. He spends the majority of his time working as a chef at
the Krusty Krab, a fast food restaurant run by a greedy crab named Mr. Krabs.
Spongebob s neighbor and co worker, Squidward Tentacles, has a very cynical view
of life, constantly complaining about Spongebob and praising the clarinet and other
arts. Across from Spongebob lives his best friend, Patrick Star, a starfish known for
little intelligence and extensive sleeping. Most episodes, he and Spongebob act on a
new idea which leads... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Epicureans avoid pain as much as possible, for they believe that since pleasure
should rule one s life, pain would ruin the contentment. Since squirrels do not
belong under water, Sandy constantly wears a protective outfit. When her friends
taunt her in the episode Pressure, she takes off her helmet, but she soon realizes
that importance lies with safety, not seeming normal to her friends ( Pressure ).
Mr. Krabs stores his money under his mattress, as shown in the episode The Lost
Mattress, because he does not trust banks to keep his pressure money safe, and he
fears the pain of losing it. While both of the aforementioned characters live as
content Epicureans, other characters on the show have a less desirable reality.
Existentialism also exists in the show in the form of Squidward and Patrick.
Existentialists believe that a God does not exist to create meaning for everyone, so
one must create one s own life meaning. Squidward s purpose lies in playing the
clarinet and other art forms like painting and interpretive dance. Spongebob. Patrick
also discovers his life s meaning in the episode Big Fat Loser. He attempts to find a
purpose by copying Spongebob s every move, but he soon realizes that what best suits
him is sleeping, his favorite activity. Another characteristic of Existentialism is
anxiety, for Existentialists cannot often pursue their interests. In the episode
Squilliam Returns, Squidward expresses his
The Is Not A True Human Being
On the road to becoming fully human, people will face several tests in order to
arrive at our targets and goals. Humans will encounter all sorts of obstacles during a
lifetime. We need all the strength and determination one can muster in order to
become a true human being. Being fully human is always a hope in people s minds
because we re born into the world with a destiny. When people think about how a
humans instinct influences a person s life, greed is one of humanity s instincts that
can profoundly impact the day to day life of a person. Greed as a part of desire
could destroy a human s life. A human will lose his family, money, and friends if he
cannot control his greed. Appropriate desire can be the motivation for humansto move
forward. On the other hand, greed as an excessive desire that is too strong will let
people lose some things. Therefore, the desire should be used to be more fully
human by directing toward love and survival instead of controlling. Love for parents
and friends can become people s desire and push them to find a way to make good
relationship instead of bad relationship. When people have love, they will realize
their responsibility. This responsibility helps them to improve themselves to be more
powerful that they can protect their parents or friends. In the Confucian Analects,
Confucius said that supporting your parents is not the same as feeding cattle. If
children only provide their parents with housing, food, and transportation tools, it is
Buffalo Housing Research Paper
Over the last couple of decades, Buffalo has found itself in a grave housing crisis.
The urban population is shrinking and the population in poverty is growing,
leaving houses abandoned and left to fall apart. Although many cities in the Rust
Belt are facing similar problems, about 15.7% of Buffalo housing was left vacant
as of 2010, which places Buffalo as ninth in the nation for vacancy rate. As the
masses abandon their homes, run down neighborhoods see an increase in crime and
drug use, and a rapid decrease in property value (Armstrong et al. 1 2). Many see this
deterioration, however, as an opportunity to renovate impoverished neighborhoods
and make them more attractive to the upper and middle class. This process, known as
gentrification, should increase the overall well being of residents by making

Underneath countless coffee shops and Whole Foods Markets lies a class struggle
between the working class and the affluent new arrivals. In trying to restore low
income neighborhoods to suit their middle class needs, gentrifiers end up causing
more problems for the poor than they had to start with. For one, the arrival of
wealthier residents grabs the attention of businesses, causing the area to grow
economically. This economic growth, however, leads to a spike in rent costs and
property tax. According to Mark Masson, 47.5% of the rental costs in Erie County
are above the affordability threshold as of 2012, a drastic increase from 2000.
Conversely, Buffalo has also experienced a rise of homeless and impoverished
families. The increase in rent puts a large financial burden on working class
families. Unable to pay the rent because of low wages, many working class families
are forced to leave their neighborhoods in search of affordable housing.
Unfortunately, the neighborhoods they end up moving to face the same problems as
their former, pre gentrified neighborhoods: crime, poverty, and

Linda taps into the conflict through her emotions by displaying daunting emotions.
Finally, Michael Biehn brilliantly displays the true qualities of hero through his

events exactly as we see them, nor recall them like a tape that has been rewound.
Instead, witness memory is like any other evidence at a crime scene; it must be
preserved carefully, or it can be contaminated. A case I would like to mention is the
Calvin Willis Case. One night in 1982, three young girls were sleeping alone in a
Shreveport, Louisiana home when a man in cowboy boots came into the house and

She testified that she didn t pick anyone, police said she picked Willis. Willis was

The Flaws In The Movie Kingdom Of Heaven
The movie Kingdom of Heaven is a very good movie. It is biased off of the
crusades more specifically the second crusade. However, no matter how good any
movie is there is always flaws, this one is no different. The amount of flaws I am
able to choose from is tremendous. I have categorized them into three main topics.
First I will be talking about the false things that have to do with Balian himself.
Next will be the weapons them self s and how they fire/are used and outcomes of
them. Last I will state many of the other false tings in the movie and back up why
they are false. In the movie there are many incorrect elements about Balian and
surrounding Balian. One of the larger issues I can see is that he is not from
France. As Helena P. Schrader says Balian was born in the crusader Kingdom of
Jerusalem. The movie started out with a scene of Balian burying his dead wife.

she really never committed suicide. However,... Show more content on

Although asthma medications are available, many patients chose to not adhere to the
medication. Statistically, 30 70 percent of asthmatic patients do not adhere to the
medication they are prescribed (Bailey and Apter, 2015). Symptoms become worse
and a patient s overall quality of life is also hindered. Bailey and Apter (2015) explain
that many patients do not adhere to their medication because they are not educated
on how to utilize the medication, costs of the medication are too high, the presence of
negative side effects, and even sociocultural factors, among various others.
Nonadherence also causes problems in healthcare economics as with more emergency
visits due to sudden asthma attacks, healthcare costs rocket making it harder for
patients to pay and causing overall economic problems. With the existence of these
factors, adherence becomes extremely difficult for adults and consequently their
health is put at risk. Negative symptomology such as increased asthma attacks and
even fatality can
The Urban Setting Of Pompeii
Introduction Ancient Pompeii was a planned city, like countless other Roman cities,
military camps and forts. Roman colonies founded on open field sites display
Roman grid planning, or Centuriation, at its most elaborate such as at Cesena,
Padua, and Florence. Here, at Pompeii, a famous Italian town in antiquity because
of its excellent preservation caused by the volcanic explosion of Mt. Vesuvius
during the first century AD. The streets, canals, agriculture plots and public spaces
were laid out along geometric lines and these striations are suggestive of an ordered
arrangement reflected by the regular layout of a square grid, made famous by the
Romans. However, unlike in the sites listed above, Pompeii exists as a unique
example of Roman urban planningas it incorporates ideas of traditional grid style
planning, but also more organic forms as well. In this assessment of the urban
setting of Pompeii, there will be a brief historical overview of the cityin terms of
urban designand its rediscovery, followed by an analysis describing the importance of
the domestic architecture, proceeding to evolution of the development and layout of
the urban landscape and it affected the social fabric of the town.
History of the Pompeiian Urban Setting Pompeii, whose heritage was originally
Greek, had become overrun by the Samnites in the fifth Century BC and even at that
this point had a plethora of urban buildings that predate Rome by several centuries.

Ineffective Strengthening Programs: As I wrote in the intro, ineffective strengthening
programs are too common in the world of swimming. Moreover, poor exercise
execution is as common as kickboards on deck. When performing shoulder
strengthening you should feel it in the shoulders, not the low back, or any other area!
Also, we know eccentric muscular contractions create more force, so why are
swimmers rushing through this phase during rotator cuff movements? Ensure
slowness during any rotator cuff exercise for reducing swimming shoulder pain.
4. Neglecting the Role of the Rotator Cuff Muscle: One primary role of the rotator
cuff is stabilization of the humuerus (upper shoulder bone) into the glenoid (the
shoulder blade). If these muscles are fatigued or not strong in this role, excessive
motion occurs at the joint, increasing the stress at the joint. Make sure to strengthen
your rotator cuff with stabilization exercises.
5. Roator Cuff Damage Will Occur in Swimming: This may sound confusing, but
rotator cuff damage will occur if you are an elite swimmer. Millions and millions of
strokes increase shoulder stress and create damage at these muscles. If you are a
competitive swimmer, this happens. To my next

Thematic Essay On The Relationship Between Jesus And...
The parable is emphasizing the importance of the family struggles, yet the importance
is that relationship between God and human beings. A person living without God is
like the younger brother running away to a far country (Young, 130). The elder
brother shown to be no better, he does not have a strong relationship with God. It is
evident when he does not sympathize with his father about the return of his younger
brother. Most interpretations only point out the younger brother s wrongs, thus
failing to discuss the elder brother s wrongs. They both have their faults in this
parable. In both cases the brothers can be considered prodigals. They did not have a
strong relationship with God or their father. They did not love their father, furthermore

The prodigal in a way is comparable to Jesus Christ. The main issue is at hand is the
father figure in the views of Christians. There are questions that have risen if the
father figure is Jesus Christ, or even God the Father. If it is God, then it would
make sense because of the unconditional love he gives his two sons, even when
they sin. God grants mercy on everyone. He is always there with open arms when
one sins waiting for them want forgiveness. In addition, the reason they believe
Christians believe it could be Jesus is because in this specific parable Jesus does
not appear. As well as, that the prodigal and Jesus their coming in common.
Ultimately, the interpretation of the father figure in the parable symbolizing God,
makes more sense. God is similar to the father because he is happy that his
younger son who was lost has found his way back. In God s eyes it would a
believer finding his way back to the Kingdom after be astray for a while. While
forgiveness and reconciliation are a massive part of the parable, the christian
interpretation wants one to identify God in not only this parable, but all the parables.
Even though the father was so happy to see his younger son, he threw him a feast
without acknowledging the elder son, there is more to that. Jesus wanted to the
reader to find herself or himself in one of the sons. He wants them to not only see,
but to understand. The listener is
Explanation Of Using Wikipedia
Many students assume that the online, free encyclopedia, Wikipedia is a valid,
authoritative and useful reference source for their scholarly work as a student at
NVCC. Many teachers say that Wikipedia is garbage and should never be used.
Which is it?
In this assignment, we will be examining just how authoritative (and stable) Wikipedia
(aka wiki) is. First, you will examine a specific entry from Wikipedia and check for
changes that have occurred over a period of six months, and then you will compare
the information from the Wikipedia entry with the information from an established
reference source such as the Encyclopedia Britannica (EB).
Since you may have never really looked carefully at a Wikipedia entry, I want you
first to look at my Explanation of Using Wikipedia before you start this paper
assignment.
For your comparison of a Wikipedia entry with the same entry in EB, you should
choose a research term that is in some way relevant to the material that you have
covered in your course, and that term must be clear, focused and doable. For

That is partly what you are answering in this assignment, but I would also like to
point out that a Wikipedia article can often be an excellent starting point (not the
end point) for research on a topic or a quick source of general information. For
example, I often check Wikipedia if I am looking for the birth or death date dates
of a historical figure. I would also point out that a Wikipedia entry is especially
valuable when it includes footnotes, citations of sources and suggested sources for
further information (often in the form of external links). Finally, Wikipedia can be
extremely useful on topics of relatively newer historical events. For example, in my
HIS 242 (History of Russia II) course, I ask that students check the entry for the
Beslan School Hostage crisis. This is an exceptional article although its quality varies
a bit from month to
Pathos And Imagery In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
As Truman Capote guides his readers through the thrilling story of the homicide of
the Clutters family in his nonfiction novel, In Cold Blood, he gives the them a clear
conception of the characters in his story. The characterization of Dick Hickock and
Perry Smith, the two vicious killers, enhances the richness of the story by adding
depth to the characters. Capotemanipulates ethos and visual imagery to illustrate
Dick s corrupt nature, while he skillfully exploits assumption and pathos to
characterize Perry as a sympathetic character. Capote uses ethos and visual imagery
to present Dick Hickock as a man of corrupt values. Dick s nefarious ideals
contradicts with the readers ethos as he tried to seduce the little girl on the beach.
Dick, when stating his attitude towards seducing minors, says that other people
might not think it normal. [Although] that, to be sure, was something, he was
certain he was a normal . The fact that Dick has no guilt for raping minors for eight
or nine times shows how Dick s values are rotten. He even states that real men had
the same desire he had to justify his sinful, secret passion for pedophilia. In fact,
Dick is well aware that pedophilia is a crime that the society frowns upon; yet, he
chooses to ignore the standards of society in pursuit of his own pleasure and desire.
By justifying himself with a broad claim that all men are passionate for pedophilia,
he disproves the audience, to whom pedophilia is interpreted as an

Controversial Views in Kate Chopin s The Awakening Essay

Awakening is truly a novel that stands out from the rest. From the moment it was
published, it has been caused women to examine their beliefs. The fact that The
Awakening was shunned when first published, yet now taught in classrooms across
the country is proof that The Awakening is full of rebellious and controversial ideas.
One of the main themes explored in The Awakening is that of a woman s place in
society. In that time period, a woman was considered in some ways to be property of
a man (Mahin 2). This is shown repeatedly in The Awakening, through the many
relationships between the characters. As with many ideas throughout the book,...

Edna s unconventional ideas about her place in the society that she lived in is
proof of the rebellious nature of The Awakening. There are many other areas of
Edna s story while illustrate the rebellious ideas that she represents. For example,
her view of religion is very controversial for that time period. Throughout the story,
we can see that Edna had no tolerance for the religious practices that were held so
dear to the rest of society (Klein 3). It is not surprising that Edna refuses to
worship any higher power, since we have also seen that she refuses to hold even
her family to any higher regard (Klein 4). Additionally, Edna s attitude towards art
builds on the unconventional themes of the story (Klein 6). Edna is told by
Mademoiselle Reisz that o be an artist... you must possess the courageous soul... the
brave soul. The soul that dares and defies (Chopin 115). This seems indicative of
the very soul that Edna strives to possess in the story. Her quest to become an artist
seems tied to her quest to break from the conventions of society because of this
definition. Edna s reverence for art and the values that it seems to be connected with
make her personality even more unconventional in the terms of the society that she
lived in. Even more importantly, it was Edna s own

friends bust mostly he values his time in the outdoors. When he gets his arm
trapped several of his beliefs begin to show. He believes everything happens for a
reason. You did this, Aron. You created it. You chose to come here today; you
chose to do this descent into the slot canyon by yourself. You chose not to tell
anyone where you were going. You chose to turn away from the women who were

What is the author s tone? Describe his writing style and how you believe it helps
create tone? The authors tone changes throughout the book. He stays very
optimistic except for a few instances when his mind tells himself that he is going to
die and is giving him negative thoughts. His tone is also very different when he is
having flashbacks to his time hiking with friends or when he is remembering
events that occurred with his family. During his flashbacks he is genially happy.
He has so much love for his family and for hiking and it is so evident because even
with the situation he is in he still reflects on the most amazing times of his life
instead of being pessimistic about the situation he is in. His writing style is very
knowledgeable and detailed. He uses several literary devices such as personification,
illusion and imagery to help with the tone. His writing style helps create tone
because his optimistic outlook on everything gives people hope and it shows that
even in the worst of situations if you are positive you can make it
Creation Myths Compare And Differences Of Creation
Stories
Creation Myths Compare and Contrast Essay For thousands of years, scientists
have tried to interpret the concept of creation. However, before people had access
to modern scientific equipment, they told creations stories. A creation story is a
myth that explains how and why the earth was made. A few cultures with differing
opinions on creation are Europeans, Cherokee Indians, West Africans, and
Hawaiians. Europeans tell the story of Genesis and God creating the earth in seven
days and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Cherokee Indians believe that the
earth was created by a water beetle. In West African culture, they teach the Golden
Chain story, and Hawaiians have the Kumulipo story to explain their beliefs on
creation. Although each story follows a basic guideline, they all have distinct
disparities. Throughout the plot of these four creation stories, it is visible that
each culture has varying beliefs on how land was developed. For example,
Cherokee Indians conclude that land was created by a water beetle who sculpted
soft mud, where as Hawaiians believe that land emerged from the slime in the
ocean. Both Europeans and West Africans teach that a supreme being used his or
her powers to form land. In Genesis, God was responsible for the land, whereas in
the Golden Chain story, a creature called Obatala was deemed accountable for
creating the land. One similarity betweens these stories is that they all begin in an
almost identical setting. In every myth except for
The Problem Of Defective Yoga Pants
Background: This case study analysis will define the problem of defective yoga
pants products, corporate corruption, and the growing media conflict of weigh
shaming in the sizes 2 12 limits on Lululemon yoga pants. Lululemon has seen a
fall in the price of stock market shares due to these major defects of yoga pants
products and corporate unethical decision making processes. The Problem:
Lululemon has a growing reputation for making defective yoga pants (due to
sheerness and see through ), which has made it necessary tore call these products
from the retail markets. More so, various customers were upset with the neglect of
corporate management to effectively address and respond to the low quality
material of the yoga pants. In some cases, women s yoga pants were sheer enough to
be see through when the material was stretched. Customers were then asked to bend
over in the store for store employees/managers to ensure that the pants had, in fact,
were see through due to sheerness (Lululemon Athletica Inc. 2014, p.7). This caused
embarrassment and anger from customers that perceived they were experiencing low
quality customer service. Lululemon also responsible limiting their yoga pants in the
2 12 size range, which expressed a specific bias towards women that were perceived
to be overweight. In response to complaints on Facebook involving weight shaming
by the company, a digital representative provided a callous and uninformative
response that provide an
Got Milk Advertising
This paper explores the effectiveness of a Got Milk advertisement featuring actress
Hayden Panettiere. First, this analysis will examine the producer of the
advertisement, Goodby Silverstein Partners for the California Milk Processor Board,
noting its mission to promote the benefits of drinking fat free or low fat milk. From
there, it moves into a discussion of the Got Milk campaign and how Hayden
Panettiere can promote their healthy lifestyle. This paper will also analyze the
creation of Seventeen magazine, as well as explore the audience it reaches to make
the message effective. Overall, by analyzing the advertisement and the message it
promotes, women and teenagers will most likely accommodate the message and
reconsider milk as a viable drinking option.
What Does Hayden Panettiere Have To Do With Got Milk? On Thursday morning, I
was sitting down in the lobby at my orthodontist waiting to get called in. While
waiting, I decided to flip through Seventeen magazine and came across a Got Milk
advertisement. What initially caught my eye was the figure of famous American...

Campaign is one of the most famous commodity brand campaigns in the United
States. It is an American advertising campaign encouraging the consumption of cow
s milk, which was created by the advertising agency Goodby Silverstein Partners
for the California Milk Processor Board and later licensed for use by milk processors
and dairy farmers ( Campaign , n.d, para 1). Their idea came after wanting to
recover from the milk consumption decline due to massive consumption of soft
drinks. To make this possible the producers accepted to finance the California Milk
Processor Board by granting three cents for every gallon of milk that was processed.
The campaign s mission is to get everybody to drink at least three glasses of fat free
or low fat milk a day. Their advertisement will lead to an increase in the awareness of
milk s use, and people would lose weight while staying
Meg Rosoff and How I Live Now Essay
Meg Rosoff, author of How I Live Now, used external and internal conflict as well
as mood to portray the theme, that together nothing bad can happen. Rosoff put
together these elements in her novels to teach her readers this lesson. Rosoff is
described as a cross over writer and does not reflect on the cultural dumbing down,
where adults tend to lose themselves in a childish fantasy where book sare written
for the teenage group of kids. In Boston Massachusetts during the late 1950 s Med
Rosoff was born. Rosoff was born into the Ashkenazi heritage to her mother and

Though the setting changes the main setting changes from quiet and content to
hectic due to the soldiers, But no one was happy now, and there were a lot of stupid
brave country folk armed with duck hunting rifles taking pot shots at tanks and most
of the time getting slaughtered for the trouble (Rosoff 113). Finally at the end of the
book everything goes back to being quiet and content again, mainly because the war
is over at that point. The major conflict of How I Live Now is in the form of man
verse society. Daisy, as well as her cousins, has to face society. As they all are trying

Technology Of The Internet Of Things
Abstract Due to the vulnerable nature of the Internet of Things (IOT) the security and
privacy are those important issues for the IOT which attracted lots of focus in recent
years. The lack of efficient and lightweight authentication method in IOT can make it
a delicious vulnerable victim for several impersonate based attacks. This paper
proposes a new authentication mechanism for IOT called Certificate based Identity
Resolution (CIR) which tries to protect IOT terminal nodes from attacks by applying
a lightweight identity resolution method and using a Local Certificate Generator in
order to simplify the node authentication process. Keywords Internet Of Things;
Certificate based Identity Resolution; Authentication; Access control I. Introduction
In the last few years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has been widespread like a boom
word, where virtually any device having an Internet connection can be communicated
and is accessible through the Internet. By making a secure user interactions with IoT
is very important for making the notion of things everywhere to be successful. Many
researchers are focusing on developing and improving the implementation and
security of IoT based devices. Two of the major aspects for enabling the security of
IoT are Authentication and Access Control to perform secure communication
between devices. In this paper we will present a novel local authentication process
which will enhance the simplicity of node authentication, keeping it safe from
The Feminine Mystique, By Betty Friedan
The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan is related to the second wave of feminism.
Betty Friedan wrote about The Problem that has no Name. Throughout the next few
pages the analysis will be on The Feminine Mystique with particular attention on The
Problem that has no Name. In the 1960s it was uncommon for the women of the
time to hold a job and raise a family. Betty Friedanworked until she was pregnant,
which she was fired for, and then continued to write freelance for journals and
newspapers after she had her children. She wanted to have a job and raise a family.
She wanted the best of both worlds. The other part of Betty Friedan that is
remarkably admirable is her view on beauty standards. She was not all that pleased
that women and men had to look a certain way. How has The Problem that has no
Name and The Feminine Mystiquechanged the outlook on women s problems, how
has society dealt with these problems, and how women were able to write about
such problems that women face? These are the main concerns that will be
addressed throughout the next few pages. By looking at the book and Betty Friedan
s life, but, also looking at other sources from the 1960s we can see how life was for
women both on the home front and the outside world.
The Problem that has no Name, as Betty Friedan called it, is a situation that
occurred in the 1960s. The Problem that has no Name happened because people
were moving to the suburbs. Before the mid twentieth century the suburbs did not
really exist, it was either the countryside or the urban centre. People, particularly
women and children, had nothing to do because the suburbs did not have all the
activities that they do today. There were no playgrounds, parks, clubs or activities
to keep the women or their children busy. The men would go off to work and the
wives and children would be stuck at home with nothing to do. Of course, there were
some usual activities, such as, cleaning and doing chores but outside of the domestic
side of activities there was not much for the women or children to do. They would go
to their doctors and get prescriptions to help relieve the pain they felt. This essentially
became know as the problem that has no name. The main question that
St. Bernard Monologue
St. Bernard was conceived of honorable parentage in Burgundy, France, in the
stronghold of Fontaines close Dijon. He entered upon the investigations of religious
philosophy and sacred writing. After the passing of his mom, dreading the catches
and enticements of the world, he set out to grasp the recently settled and
exceptionally severe organization of the Cistercian Request, of which he was bound
to wind up the best decoration. He additionally induced his siblings and a few of his
companions to take after his illustration. In 1113, St. Bernard, with thirty youthful
aristocrats, introduced himself to the blessed Abbot, St. Stephen, at Citeaux. His

The Faults in The Affordable Care Act Essays
Many of today s arguments within the American government have to do with
health care. The Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare or The
ACA, has been effective since March 23, 2010. Most of Obamacare s major
provisions, such as mandated individual coverage, just took effect at the beginning
of 2014. Democrats support the health care reform while a majority of republicans
are entirely against it. On paper the health care reform looks good, but there are a
lot of things that could potentially hurt the American population. Our founding
fathers never had a debate over healthcare and frankly I don t think it should be a
topic of discussion today. The way healthcare has worked in the past is still working
today and I see no reason to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Health Care Conscience Rights Act, or HCCRA, would be a huge overhaul to
the Affordable Care Act as a whole. One of the major changes being the freedom to
choose and not be taxed for not wanting to be covered. Unfortunately this bill has
yet to get pass it s committee and the future of it seems quite dim. As of now if you
indeed choose not to enroll in Obamacare and do not pay your fines the fee will be
taken out of your income tax return by the IRS. After all, if nobody enrolls
Obamacare will fail. In order to avoid this they made it mandatory and gave the IRS
the power to take money from Americans in order to finance something that half of
them would rather not be a part of. Not only is this mandate unconstitutional, it will
fail and ultimately hurt our country in the end. Obamacare also states that all
employers with more than 50 full time workers must provide affordable health
insurance or face a fee of up to 2,000 dollars for every full time employee receiving a
tax credit minus 30. What is a tax credit? Say, Bob for example, decides that his
employer doesn t offer coverage that fits his personal needs. Bob can go to an
exchange and find more affordable coverage that actually covers what he needs it
to. The benefit to bob is that he gets coverage and he would also get a tax cut for
finding the appropriate coverage for him, hence the tax credit. The bad thing is that
now the company faces the penalty for not
Informative Essay On Cockroaches
It s the middle of the night. You re hungry. You go to the kitchen and turn on the
light. Suddenly, you step on something crunchy. You bend down to take a look. It
is a cockroach! In New York City, in all homes and buildings, cockroaches abound.
Just like its human residents, New York City s roaches are among the most diverse
in the world. Cockroaches have been around for millions of years, evolving into
some of the most adaptable pests on Earth. And no matter how hard exterminators
try, the stubborn cockroaches don t seem to die off. In fact, as time progresses,
different species of cockroaches will be discovered and they will become more
adaptable to the New York climate and also resistant to chemical poisons. It is safe to

Since roaches can crawl through small spaces, its very important we seal these
entries. I understand this can be time consuming, but at the end of the day it will be
worth the effort. If we don t stop them from entering, the next thing we know
unwanted guests are partying with us and drinking our alcoholic beverages ( Orkin ).
As long as we (unwillingly) provide food, shelter, and water for cockroaches they
will forever infest our homes. Pest World states that cockroaches are attracted to
sweet and floury foods (Cockroach Extermination). But even if you try to starve
these critters, they won t just die off. They ll actually survive a whole month with
no food, but only days without water. It is vital we stop supplying water to these
pests. In addition, a cockroach can hold its breath for 40 minutes and survive
underwater for at least half an hour (Cockroach Extermination). That means they
can swim up our drainpipes into our sinks and bathtubs. We should begin by
repairing the tiniest leakages and making sure no water is left standing in our
sinks. Cockroaches are extremely attracted to moist areas even to the smallest bit
of water. For example, New Yorker Ruby Ahuja said: I used to work in a dry
building, and when I d leave a cup on my table after washing it out at night, leaving
a few drops of water inside, I would find the cup full of roaches the next morning.
What a beautiful sight to see early in the morning.

Anti Federalists Vs The Ratification Of The U.s.
Constitution
On the other hand, Anti Federalists were against the ratification of the U.S.
Constitution. Unlike the Federalists, many of the Anti Federalists were not included
in the deliberations on the new constitution; they were not selected as delegates to the
constitutional convention. Anti Federalists were in favor of a confederacy; a system
where the central government exercises no control over subunit governments (i.e.
states) and acts for the subunits. Therefore, their name, Anti Federalists, is not a good
depiction of what they actually supported. Unlike the Federalists, they Anti
Federalists did not have as much time to prepare and organize for the ratification
debates because many of them were not included in the U.S. Constitutions... Show

As typical of the time period, both sides commonly wrote under pseudonyms; it is
a fictional name used to keep one s identity concealed. Keeping one s identity
concealed can force readers to focus on the quality of your arguments, rather than
on personalities. It is harder to get ad hominem about a writer you cannot identify.
So a pseudonym can serve a good purpose in public discourse. Also, because the
practice was common there was less concern about who authored the piece. When
selecting a pseudonym, the authored was very deliberate on who they selected to
represent them. The names were selected for symbolic meaning; a practice which
was employed by almost all writers from both the Federalists and Anti federalists.
The selection of a pseudonym was vital to the portrayal of an author s piece. The
Federalists Papers were written under the pseudonym Publius, however, it was
written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay. Most Americans
would recognize Publius as the Roman who was one of the founders of the republic.
Also, they would identify him as an individual who saved the Roman Republic from
tyranny on several occasions. Therefore, using Publius as a pseudonym possessed
influencing power. The writers of the Federalists Papers wanted to be known as
defenders of the republic and used Publius to symbolically represent that. Using a
historical figure with a republican reputation such

The Impact Of Domestic And Foreign Affairs On
American...
The new nation of the United States of America had many matters to manage, both
domestic and foreign. Two political parties emerged to tackle these issues, the
Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. Domestic affairs of the United States
divided the two emerging political parties more at the time, and had a larger impact
on American politics during the 1790 s than foreign affairs. Domestic affairs shaped
politics more so at the time because we had to establish a government completely
from scratch. We had to construct a constitution and decide on what powers to give
and keep from the government and how to interpret the document. There was two
interpretations of constitution at the time. Loose constructionist favored more
broader powers to
The concept of interiorization has been around for a long...
The concept of interiorization has been around for a long time. In the past, some
could argue that much of the focus in architecture has been on the exterior façade
of buildings. That being so, people have not forgotten about the interior. There is a
philosophy behind all designs of a building, including both the interior and exterior,
and there is a best suited design for what a building is being used for.
The concept of interiorization is spatially organizing the interior of a building to
properly reflect its purpose and uses, while also incorporating the designer s own
personality and beliefs. Architects and designers must collaborate to create a look
and feel that fits the role of the building and its intended use. This ... Show more

Much thought needs to go into the structure as a whole. Some architects, artists, and
designers might think that the interior and exterior of a structure need to be similar
and coordinate while others may prefer the element of surprise and have the exterior
reflect one feel and the interior be the opposite of what one would expect. Again, this
needs to be well thought out and much consideration must go in to the purpose of the
structure and what works best for it.
INTERIORIZATION OF MALLS
Malls are no longer single enclosed structures that simply house multiple retail
stores. They have evolved into the notion of a city within a city. They are now
being built to accommodate a person s every need and want. Not only do they
house an array of retailers, they are almost, in some cases, a one stop shop where
people can shop for clothes, groceries, socialize, and entertain the family all in one
location.
Some malls have taken the notion of a city within a city to extreme levels. For
example, the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota is one of the largest
malls in the United States. Its floor plan spans over 4 million square feet and could
probably accommodate a person s every need and want. From retail to restaurants to
hotels, this mall has it all and is still growing. Although it is one of the most visited
malls in the United States, it is still looking to
Summary Of Professor Wyler s Research
Professor Wyler s Research Experimental science faces more situational hardships
than one would believe. There are many factors to research, so one must ensure
they proceed correctly in order to have a well done project. The challenges of
experiments is shown through the scenario of Professor Wyler, a man who wants to
know if he needs to obtain approval from his institutional review board for his study
on the effects of violencein films on attitudes towards aggression among teenagers.
This situation contains two main problems, board approval, and potential ethical
issues. First, Professor Wyler wonders if he needs to seek approval from his
institutional review board. Researchers working in universities and other agencies
receiving federal funding must receive the approval of institutional review boards
(IRBS) for human participant research (Cacioppo, Freberg 2013 p. 79). According to
this statement, he would have to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is studying aggression among teens caused by violence in films. However, he did
not state how he was measuring the anger, so it is potentially dangerous depending
on how he wants the aggression to be shown. In addition, because of the study,
participants could take out aggression on one another. It is typical for impoverished
communities and wealthier communities quarrel because of their differences. The
differences among participants are important to the study, but may affect the behavior
among them. Although, participation in the study is voluntary, the socio economic
range could influence the participation levels. Since some tests provide incentives
like money, impoverished community members may see that as a main purpose for
joining. If the researcher offers too much money, it can become the motive for
involvement instead of a bonus to contributing. Impoverished community members
may take the money aspect as a main reason to partake in the study, eliminating the
purpose of it

A Minor Contract In the state of Massachusetts, a minor may enter a contract at their own will, but may void that contract, therefore any contract with a minor that does not fall under the exceptions (necessities) is voidable at the minors disclosure. • 5. Analysis Of The Canterbury Tales Will Kasdan Mrs. Nagel British Literature 11.2 25 May, 2017 Here s Where the Story Ends Fables and myths constitute the foundation of nearly every culture, and are passed down through generations, never losing their meaning and allure. Many factors make a story special, including its plot, essence, and characters, but only the storyteller holds within themselves the potential to deliver a narration that will inspire their audience and leave a lasting mark. In a quaint example of metafiction, many novels have been published with a central theme of storytelling. Two such examples following this concept is The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1478, and Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley 1818. Three characters in The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Have I not suffered enough, that you seek to increase my misery... Everywhere I see bliss, from which I alone am irrevocably excluded (Shelley 68 69). The Wife of Bath and The Monster quickly intrigue their respective audiences by flooding them with emotion. The Wife of Bath shares her negative views on marriage, while The Monster prepares to tell his heartbreaking story. By expressing their emotions, both narrators are able to share their beliefs and views, impacting their listeners. This is just one power of storytelling, where an outpour of emotions can be so powerful moving, having a profound effect on the audience. In addition, by articulating their emotions, the storytellers give the crowd an opportunity to enter their own minds, further allowing the audience to experience the story from the eyes of the narrator. Another critical facet in storytelling lies in parables, which carry moral lessons. In his fable, the Pardoner imparts a crucial message of the destructiveness of greed. In his prologue, the Pardoner makes his explanation very clear: But let me briefly make my purpose plain / I preach for nothing but for the greed of gain / And use the same old text, as bold as brass / Radix malorum est cupiditas (Chaucer 243). Providing another meaningful anecdote is The Monster, who explains how love is a powerful emotion that can get one through loneliness and isolation. The Monster makes clear his message of requiring a companion: If I cannot inspire

Essay on Speaking Out About Malt Speaking Out about Malt Case 8.3 Page 404 405, Moral Issues in Business The case of Whitewater Brewing and Mary Davis touches upon several views and moral issues that are not specifically black or white. Case 8.3 specifically deals with a business called Whitewater Brewing Co. Whitewater Brewing, as its name sounds, is a manufacturer of alcoholic refreshments, selling its brands to various consumers. The article in particular focuses upon a specific Whitewater product, Rafter. Rafter is being targeted to match other similar products that are bottled in a 40 ounce size. The unfortunate part is that these 40 ounce size refreshments are not only popular with inner city teenagers but in the area where Whitewater sells these 40 ounce... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ralph Jenkins, CEO of Whitewater, writes to Mary Davis to express the company s views on her behavior and to ask her to first clear all further comments (regarding her personal views on liquor production) with the business. Mary feels this to be an invasion of her right to free speech. Additionally Mary informs Ralph Jenkins that she seeks to pursue her article further and even speak at an engagement about her views (personal ones). Mr. Jenkins remains adamant that Mary adhere to his requests further escalating things to state she can either comply or resign. So does Davis have a moral right to free speech in the workplace, or can Whitewater determine the extent to her free speech? Also what would Davis s best path ethical path be? The second is the easiest to answer so I will do that now. Davis could simply put resign, enabling her to champion her beliefs and become a martyr for her cause, as it were. As for the first question the answer is not a simple clear cut one, and ultimately will be an individual one. Currently there is already legal precedent that allows companies to require employees not to act or speak disloyally . Take the following case: In Korb v. Raytheon, 574 N.E.2d 370, 410 Mass. 581 (1991), Raytheon terminated Lawrence Korb after receiving complaints of his public involvement in an anti nuclear proliferation nonprofit known as the
  • 7. Mountains Beyond Mountains Summary Dokte Paul. the first part of the book titled Mountains Beyond Mountains, begins when author and journalist Tracy Kidder first met Dr. Farmer in Haiti. Kidder describes Dr. Farmer as a big shot Boston doctor who has chosen to do humanitarian type work in Haiti even though he could have an easy career as a lecturer back in Boston. Kidder realizes that Dr. Farmer is the atypical doctor who would rather get to know his patients as people and cares about their health holistically instead of just treating the symptoms and moving on. The next year, Dr. Farmer invites Kidder back to Haitiwith him, and Kidder begins to observe Dr. Farmer at work. Kidder notices that Dr. Farmer s patients and co workers call him Dokte Paul; the word dokte is Haitian Creole for doctor. Kidder also observes the unsanitary conditions of life in the Cange region of Haiti. There, Dr. Farmer established the charity called Zamni Lasante, which is Haitian Creole for friend health. This charity not only provides low cost or free medical care, it also builds houses and schools. Dr. Farmer often uses his own money to help keep the charity going, and lives very modestly despite being a successful physician. Dr. Farmer begins educating journalist Kidder about the Haitian people, the health issues they face, and some of their superstitions. He also explains the Haitian proverb, mountains beyond mountains, which means that for every metaphorical mountain a person climbs,

The Imagery Tone of a Play: The Use of Literary Devices Imagery Tone in Krapp s Last Tape In the play Krapp s Last Tape, there is one protagonist who is described as sitting at a small table, listening to tapes. Krapp is an impaired and broken down elderly man who spends his time listening to his younger voice on tapes. He is egotistical and subjective towards his younger self and critiques the way he acted in a certain place or time. He is lonely, but okay with it as he would rather focus on things that he has already experienced, rather then engage in new ones. He is essentially stuck in the past. The essay written below disputes the literary devices of imagery and tone in order to provide background and symbolism in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Imagery plays a big part in describing the character s appearance and actions in order to show what a character is like and how they respond to differing situations. It can also shape the story and reveal to the reader the background of a person, place, or thing. In Krapp s Last Tape, the only character is given much detail and description in order to start the play at a point where the reader already knows some information about this elderly man. The literary convention of imagery provides insight into the character that will lead the play. Krapp, the main protagonist in Krapp s Last Tape is given a good amount of description, leading into the beginning of dialogue. His raggedy grey hair, disheveled clothes, and death ridden face give the reader an image of a character that has lived through many years. It is as if he has given up on life and is preparing for what is to come. The fact that he is also hard of hearing and has a cracked voice, seems to have intensified the distaste towards his character. Krapp s descriptive appearance helps to foreshadow his cynical and confined personality. Krapp also remains motionless for most of the play. The only actions that do take place are of him eating a banana in the very beginning and the loading of the three tapes that Krapp focuses on in the dialogue. This imagery of him loading the tapes and sitting at his table depicts

Peter Lynch poses three important questions to the investor in order to self evaluate their financial position as well as mental state before deciding to invest in the stock market: (1) Do I own a home? He advises that buying a house first is the best type of investment you can make as it, in the long run, just as stocks, always appreciates in value. (2) Do I need the money now? Only invest money you can afford to lose and will not be needing in the near future. (3) Do I poses the personal qualities necessary to succeed in stocks? Some of the personal qualities Lynch deems necessary are lots of patience, ability to ignore the general panic, tolerance for pain, open mindedness, persistence, and common sense. In his book Lynch talks about developing the company story before investing in the stocks of any company. Being able to develop the story comes from conducting the research of the company s financial health and
  • 11. The Goal Of The Anger Principle The goal of the Anger Principle is to rationalize why an individual is angry and calculate the extent of their anger within a situation. When trying to decipher whether someone is angry, I look for a few key indicators, such as antisocial body language and aggressive verbal language. Antisocial body language includes pacing, rubbing your head, cupping your fist with your other hand, shaking or trembling, clenching your jaws or grinding your teeth, and sweating, especially of the palms. Aggressive verbal language includes getting sarcastic, losing your sense of humor, raising your voice, speaking abrasively, and beginning to yell, scream, or cry. Many of these signs were present in my various cases. Incidentally, case one is interesting because feelings of angerweren t associated with this decision until 3 years later. Now, whenever I am reminded, I begin to clench my jaw and rub my head. Also, I m not very likely to speak when I am angry, but when I do I am sarcastic and without a sense of humor, i.e., I ll say I was such a smart kid, of course, skateboards can take you everywhere. If anyone else attempts to make a joke about my situation, I d blankly stared at them, conveying my anger by rejecting humor about the situation. As for case five, my friend is a big fan of the former vice present, Joe Biden. So, when she told me about how she felt after receiving her grade, she reported that she was sweating, shaking, and cupping her first with her other hand. Even as she

  • 13. Taking a Look at Outsourcing and Its Risks Introduction: Outsourcing is contracting out with third party for a product or service. Sometimes, outsourcing employees from one firm to another is also possible, when an organization lacks in skilled persons and technologies. Outsourcing tools are used by owners to run a better facility and by facility managers to build a better career. The most common areas of facility management that are used to outsource are custodial, landscaping, system maintenance, construction, engineering and management of property. Outsourcing has become one of the most important knowledge areas of project management, which is increasing with pace. Outsourcing facilities first began at banks and expanded for manufacturing, utilities and healthcare. As the outsourcing brought into light over time, risks began to arise. Common risks involved in outsourcing are improper communication between client and vendor, imperfection in project scope and improper specification of requirements. Although risks lead to outsource disasters, it depends on how well the strategies for managing them are carried out. Outsourcing buyers look for meeting triple constraints neglecting triple constraints. Automation could resist organizations from outsourcing but, trends in outsourcing bring the market value for outsourcing. Why Outsourcing: Organizations outsource to reduce both fixed and recurrent costs. When they outsource for service or product, concentration would be on its core business. Successful implementation

The similarities between wine and dating don t end at the turn of the century. The two articles led me to notice the similarities between the stages of dating and learning about wine. After all, both have the same fear of looking stupid and worrying what the other thinks of us. Since the reward for either is so good, we go ahead anyways. All those fears fade away the more we practice and get comfortable with it. Somehow, we forge ahead thinking about all the promise it may bring. For the purpose of this article I have shown the parallels between wine and dating, but dating is much more complicated in real life. The level of dedication to learning about wine is more flexible and personal. In the wine world, few will ever have the resource to try a Chateau Lafite Rothschild. The Effects Of Being On Cell Phone While Driving Introduction Texting by adults has increased over the past months from 65% of adults sending and receiving texts in September 2009 to 72% texting in May 2010. Still, adults do not send nearly the same number of texts per day as teens ages 12 17, who send and receive, on average, 5 times more texts per day than adult texters (Lenhart, 2010). Many people wonder what the affects of being on a cell phone while driving are. Does being on your cell phone while driving actually increase your chances of having an accident? According to an article, The National Survey on Distracted Driving Attitudes and Behaviors, Almost half (48%) of drivers report answering their cell phone when driving at least some of the time. Two in 5 drivers (40%) report never answering their phones while driving. (Schroeder, 2012) This shows that there is a good amount of people that do use their phone while driving. Additionally, Edna s attitude towards art builds on the unconventional themes of the story (Klein 6). Edna is told by Mademoiselle Reisz that o be an artist... you must possess the courageous soul... the brave soul. The soul that dares and defies (Chopin 115). This seems indicative of the very soul that Edna strives to possess in the story. Her quest to become an artist seems tied to her quest to break from the conventions of society because of this definition. Edna s reverence for art and the values that it seems to be connected with make her personality even more unconventional in the terms of the society that she lived in. Even more importantly, it was Edna s own

The author in 127 Hours, Aron Ralston, presents himself many different ways through out the entire book. He is a very evident naturalist during the novel. He is very down to earth. He values his family and friends bust mostly he values his time in the outdoors. When he gets his arm trapped several of his beliefs begin to show. He believes everything happens for a reason. You did this, Aron. You created it. You chose to come here today; you chose to do this descent into the slot canyon by yourself. You chose not to tell anyone where you were going. What is the author s tone? Describe his writing style and how you believe it helps create tone? The authors tone changes throughout the book. He stays very optimistic except for a few instances when his mind tells himself that he is going to die and is giving him negative thoughts. His tone is also very different when he is having flashbacks to his time hiking with friends or when he is remembering events that occurred with his family. During his flashbacks he is genially happy. He has so much love for his family and for hiking and it is so evident because even with the situation he is in he still reflects on the most amazing times of his life instead of being pessimistic about the situation he is in. His writing style is very knowledgeable and detailed. He uses several literary devices such as personification, illusion and imagery to help with the tone. His writing style helps create tone because his optimistic outlook on everything gives people hope and it shows that even in the worst of situations if you are positive you can make it
  • 42. Creation Myths Compare And Differences Of Creation Stories Creation Myths Compare and Contrast Essay For thousands of years, scientists have tried to interpret the concept of creation. However, before people had access to modern scientific equipment, they told creations stories. A creation story is a myth that explains how and why the earth was made. A few cultures with differing opinions on creation are Europeans, Cherokee Indians, West Africans, and Hawaiians. Europeans tell the story of Genesis and God creating the earth in seven days and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Cherokee Indians believe that the earth was created by a water beetle. In West African culture, they teach the Golden Chain story, and Hawaiians have the Kumulipo story to explain their beliefs on creation. Although each story follows a basic guideline, they all have distinct disparities. Throughout the plot of these four creation stories, it is visible that each culture has varying beliefs on how land was developed. For example, Cherokee Indians conclude that land was created by a water beetle who sculpted soft mud, where as Hawaiians believe that land emerged from the slime in the ocean. Both Europeans and West Africans teach that a supreme being used his or her powers to form land. In Genesis, God was responsible for the land, whereas in the Golden Chain story, a creature called Obatala was deemed accountable for creating the land. One similarity betweens these stories is that they all begin in an almost identical setting. In every myth except for

Lululemon has seen a fall in the price of stock market shares due to these major defects of yoga pants products and corporate unethical decision making processes. The Problem: Lululemon has a growing reputation for making defective yoga pants (due to sheerness and see through ), which has made it necessary tore call these products from the retail markets. More so, various customers were upset with the neglect of corporate management to effectively address and respond to the low quality material of the yoga pants. In some cases, women s yoga pants were sheer enough to be see through when the material was stretched. Customers were then asked to bend over in the store for store employees/managers to ensure that the pants had, in fact, were see through due to sheerness (Lululemon Athletica Inc. 2014, p.7). This caused embarrassment and anger from customers that perceived they were experiencing low quality customer service. Throughout the next few pages the analysis will be on The Feminine Mystique with particular attention on The Problem that has no Name. In the 1960s it was uncommon for the women of the time to hold a job and raise a family. Betty Friedanworked until she was pregnant, which she was fired for, and then continued to write freelance for journals and newspapers after she had her children. She wanted to have a job and raise a family. She wanted the best of both worlds. The other part of Betty Friedan that is remarkably admirable is her view on beauty standards. She was not all that pleased that women and men had to look a certain way. How has The Problem that has no Name and The Feminine Mystiquechanged the outlook on women s problems, how has society dealt with these problems, and how women were able to write about such problems that women face? These are the main concerns that will be addressed throughout the next few pages. By looking at the book and Betty Friedan s life, but, also looking at other sources from the 1960s we can see how life was for women both on the home front and the outside world. The Problem that has no Name, as Betty Friedan called it, is a situation that occurred in the 1960s. The Problem that has no Name happened because people were moving to the suburbs. Before the mid twentieth century the suburbs did not really exist, it was either the countryside or the urban centre. People, particularly women and children, had nothing to do because the suburbs did not have all the activities that they do today. There were no playgrounds, parks, clubs or activities to keep the women or their children busy. The men would go off to work and the wives and children would be stuck at home with nothing to do. Of course, there were some usual activities, such as, cleaning and doing chores but outside of the domestic side of activities there was not much for the women or children to do. They would go to their doctors and get prescriptions to help relieve the pain they felt. This essentially became know as the problem that has no name. The main question that

As of now if you indeed choose not to enroll in Obamacare and do not pay your fines the fee will be taken out of your income tax return by the IRS. After all, if nobody enrolls Obamacare will fail. In order to avoid this they made it mandatory and gave the IRS the power to take money from Americans in order to finance something that half of them would rather not be a part of. Not only is this mandate unconstitutional, it will fail and ultimately hurt our country in the end. Obamacare also states that all employers with more than 50 full time workers must provide affordable health insurance or face a fee of up to 2,000 dollars for every full time employee receiving a tax credit minus 30. What is a tax credit? Say, Bob for example, decides that his employer doesn t offer coverage that fits his personal needs. Bob can go to an exchange and find more affordable coverage that actually covers what he needs it to. The benefit to bob is that he gets coverage and he would also get a tax cut for finding the appropriate coverage for him, hence the tax credit.
