3. The Apache Indians Essay
The Apaches, like most Native Americans, have no written history other than that
written by white men. But the story of the Apaches did not begin in the American
Southwest but in the northwestern corner of North America, the western Subarctic
region of Alaska and Canada. The Apache Indians belong to the southern branch of
the Athabascan group, whose languages constitute a large family, with speakers in
Alaska, western Canada, and American Southwest. The fact that the Apaches
originated in the western mountainous Subarctic region makes their nomadic
behavior after the arrival in the American Southwest more comprehensible; the tribes
of the Southwest were highly mobile and moved from place to place depending on
availability of food. They... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Raiding had been something to Apache had only done once in awhile but now that
they couldn t hunt buffalo any longer raiding became necessary for their survival.
The hostility between the Apache and the Spanish settlers increased when New
Mexico became a Spanish Colony . From the time of the Spanish colonization until
1886 they were noted for their warlike disposition. According to the written history of
whites, Apaches have always been hostile; in truth, serious warlike behavior could
usually be attributed to belligerent behavior on the part of the whiteman, or
misunderstandings between the two peoples.
Since no single food source could support their people for any length of time the
Athabaskan continued to move around. Because they were accustomed to living in
mountainous regions their migration southward followed the Rocky Mountain range
until they eventually reached the Southwestern us, probably in the 1500 s. The
reason for all this southward trek is not so clear but is most likely because of lack
of game and food. During the migration they broke into smaller bands that settled in
various areas of the country. Those that landed in what are now the states of
Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah adopted some of the culture of the Pueblo
Indians and eventually came to be known as Navajos; others, who became the Western

According to When Lying is Good by Elizabeth Segran, she states The truth is that
we all lie but sometimes it s with the intention of sparing the feelings of others or
preventing others from experiencing psychological harm (Fastcompany). Whether
it s lying to prevent harm or lying in general it s never the right thing to do. It
prevents you from having trust, allowing your relationship to have arguments
which leads to a break up anyways. Before your relationship gets worse and you re
doing is holding on to a thread, it s better if you leave that relationship. The tiniest
lies always lead to bigger and bigger lies. It is hard to be in a relationship with a
person that you have to question every move. Such as, when your partner receives
a text, your first response is who is that, or when he/she says I m going out with
my friends, you say with who? when? where? this all happens because your not
sure what to believe, you don t trust your partner. Suppose you are the one that s
lying to your partner, should you leave that relationship? Yes, because in the long
run guilt will sneak up on you and then there s no reason to continue in a
relationship like that. Even if the lie isn t detected, the piling up of lies tend to make
your relationship shallower and less meaningful and it could be that living with the

Introduction:
Diana Miller is a deeply troubled young woman who has on numerous occasions
been hospitalized in psychiatric institutions for severe abnormal behaviour.
Following a serious suicide attempt and seventh hospitalization, Diana was given a
diagnosis of major depressive disorder and a borderline personality disorder (BPD).
The purpose of this essay is to elucidate the diagnostic accuracy of Diana s disorders
via the analysis of diagnostic features, sociocultural factors, and treatment
interventions.
Diagnostic Features: The diagnosis of Major depressive disorder and Borderline
personality disorder (BPD) are entirely accurate, as Diana s behaviour epitomizes the
characteristics and diagnostic features of both disorders. As outlined in the DSM 5,
Diana exemplifies symptoms warranting a diagnosis of major depressive disorder, as
she displays the presence of five or more specified symptoms while having no prior
history of mania. Diana exhibits the diagnostically required symptoms of frequent
depressed mood, diminished interest in normal activities, and recurring suicidal
thoughts/attempts, resulting in considerable distress and impairment. (APA, 2013, p.
160 161). In addition to fitting the diagnostic criteria, Diana demonstrates marked
deficits in areas of functioning. Most strikingly Diana typifies emotional symptoms
common in unipolar depression including prolonged and severe unhappiness, crying
spells, and a general sense of hopelessness. Diana also displays

Troy and Trojan War: Final
Topic 2
Helen: What is beauty? Some may say Helen is and was the definition of beauty.
Can beauty be born or be simply made by the Gods. Beauty in this epic tale in The
Iliad had the power to make any man do anything, Helen being a famous female
character in this ancient time made the power of beauty strike. In this period of time
walked many strong warriors, many famous warriors. But they all seemed to let Helen
has the power. When being this beautiful I believe it came with a big price. She was
blamed for the war. She was called the innocent, the guilty, the dangerous, the sinful,
the irresponsible, and the woman who launched a thousand ships . She was blamed
because these men were fools to her beauty. A woman s beauty can t possibly be the
cause for all this death and destruction. But in the epic tale of The Iliad, these men
made Helen the most powerful one of them all. Some say she was the reasoning
for all many innocent men who died, but why? Her beauty. Helen of Sparta was the
cause of the whole war between the Trojans and the Achillians, which lasted for
ten years. She was mortal and immortal, he father was told as being Zeus and her
mother was the Leda, the beautiful queen of Sparta. Her mother was a swan so
when having Helen she was in an egg. As she grew older all Helen s suitors came
from all over Greece, one of the men were Menelaus who she married. But during an
absence of Menelaus, Helen was taken from Sparta by

9. The Aeschylus Trilogy And Sweat By Lynn Nottage
The Aeschylus Trilogy and Sweat by Lynn Nottage, though written thousands of years
apart, actually share the same underlying problems especially when it comes the the
characters that drive the plot. In both plays, there is this very prominent character
trait found in most, if not all, the characters, selfishness. These self centered
characters actually create conflict simply by only thinking of themselves. The self
centered and selfish air in both time periods, whether brought up by individual
characters or even character groups, drives the plot in both the Aeschylus Trilogy and
Sweat. The mythical story of Agamemnonopens with an air of hope and fear as the
very weary watchmen and city of Argos wait for the fall of Troy, a war that has been
going on for ten years. After the signal is seen, Agamemnon s wife Clytemnestra, who
has been ruling in his absence, appears from her home and tells the city the great
news, they have won the war. Agamemnon arrives home and has brought the captured
Trojan princess Cassandra, his concubine. Clytemnestra falsely welcomes him with
gifts that will lead him to his death. After also being welcomed, Cassandra, moves
into a state of frenzy, foreshadowing to Agamemnon s murder and her own. She
enters the house, knowing it will lead to her death. Thc cries of the dying
Agamemnon are heard by many, when the palace is revealed, Clytemnestra is
joyfully standing over the bodies of her victims. She answers the elders charges by
claiming justice

The development of the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) was a result of public
company scandals. The Enron and Worldcom scandals, for example, helped
investor confidence in entities traded on the public markets weaken during 2001
and 2002. Congress was quick to respond to the political crisis and enacted the
Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, which was signed into law by President Bush on July

would be issued to non ethical or non law abiding public companies and their

The primary plot of the Picture of Dorian Gray is that he wants to remain young and

Bateman goes through every morning in order to look good.
The Picture of Dorian Gray and American Psycho can be connected to each other.
They both explore ethical motive as a concept and the moral impact of living
according to that lifestyle. They both portray a self loving, superficial and
psychologically unstable character. In a way, I believe that American Psycho can
almost be seen as a more modern presentation of how morality exists in today s
society and how an indulgent person would act and acquire his thrills in the society
we live in.
Both characters are super flawed and troubled protagonists. Both characters have
everything on the surface. Both characters use mistaken identity as an excuse to
avoid being held accountable for their crimes. (Dorian tells Sybyll s brother that he
is too young to be the Prince Charming responsible for Sybylls suicide and Bateman
masquerades around as Paul Allen and others to avoid detection). Both are

Fast Fashion vs. Slow (Luxury) Fashion
By Alanna Mitchell
In 2014, Jean Paul Gaultier retired from his Ready To Wear line. In an interview with
The
Associated Press he said, Too many clothes kills clothes... Fashion has changed. (1)
This change that Gaultier is referring to is known as Fast Fashion . It is a
phenomenon within the fashion industry that has made its way into Australian
consumers wardrobes over the past five years (11). It involves unsustainable
production processes that are expedited in order to get new trends to the market as
quickly and cheaply as possible (4) whilst encouraging disposability.
Fashion should never be thought of as a disposable product yet mainstream
consumers are still trying to grasp the notion of paying more for a clean conscience
and to understand that luxury is still the best that money can buy.
The fashion industry is the most labour dependent industry in the world with 1 in 6
people on Earth somehow being involved in the global fashion industry. 85% of
these people are women earning less than $3 a day. Today we purchase over 80
billion pieces of clothing each year. And while the price of clothing has been
decreasing for decades, the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically.

14. How Is Christianity Living and Dynamic and How Does It...
Christianity is a faith based religious tradition, of which the follower is considered to
be a Christian adherent. Thus, being a living tradition, Christianity is continually
subject to change in accordance to the needs of the adherent and reaffirming the
Christian tradition within a contemporary context. The aspects, which attribute the
present existence of Christianityand its dynamism therein, include sacred texts and
writings, ritual and ceremonies, beliefs and believers, and ethics. Ultimately, the
aforementioned characteristics strive to form and continually validate answers to the
enduring questions of life through a process of change, which simultaneously
highlights Christianity as a living tradition.

In Pentecostalism, a variant of Christianity, the Bible is studied in many versions, to
deepen the understanding of the adherent regarding Christianity, which can better
help them make informed decisions in terms of the religious practice, which imposes
validity in the dynamism of Pentecostalism (Walsh, 2008).
Rituals and ceremonies are the practical aspects of Christianity, which involve
customary acts of special, deliberate and repeatable patterns of behaviour through
the use of words, actions and symbols (Coleman, 2006). Rituals and ceremonies
solidify the relationship between Christians and God as they present a practical,
symbolic and comprehensible expression of their underlying beliefs (Morrissey,
2010). Baptism is the ritual of initiation into Christianity, which in essence, is
initiation into a life of positive living modelled on Christ. Baptism is held within a
congregation of the body of Christ where they vow to spiritually nurture the child or
adult being baptised (RCA, 2012). The symbology of the water in baptism
encompasses the cleansing of an individual, and it is a practical element of the ritual,
which underpins a broader idea of initiating a living adherent into the religion.
Another ritual present in all Christian denominations is prayer, which the baptised

Religious stories and scientific theories have tried for thousands of years to
accurately date the formation of man. However, in the 1860s, a new art was
discovered that changed the view of human creation forever. This new insight was
cave painting. Cave painting is a form of prehistoric art that dates back hundreds of
thousands of years. Analysts are unable to specify the reasoning behind these
paintings of objects on cave walls, but many theories have been formulated to
surmise the rational behind the art. Questions arise like, why did man find a need
to paint the walls of caves and is this part of the foundation of the origin of human
life as we know it? (Beacon) The ecumenical belief is rooted at history, cave

The methods used to create have proven themselves more useful in dating the art
than the work itself. The natural objects used have withstood time better that the
art. In the earlier times of the paintings, fingers and soft clays created many of the
paintings. The fine engravings were created later in time, respectively, and are
much more rare. Over time the art became more revolutionized and the artists
began to mix colors with pestles and mortars. They even went as far as using
stencils and blowpipes to create different effects. Another supporting theory that
the paintings were done consciously to preserve time is the cost of the art. The
cave paintings were expensive to create. The artists required sufficient lighting and
a homemade type of scaffolding to reach the high areas. If it didn t seem
imperative to the people to preserve their experiences, they wouldn t have gone to
such costs to create the work. The quality and consistency of the best painted works
in caves supports this. They honed their skill to perfection so that it would last for
centuries to be interpreted months later by different clans or even years later by
completely different generations. When the first painting was found, people didn t
know whether they were conclusive to a specific area. Many years later from 1860
after finding the first cave of Chauvet, hundreds of paintings have been found.

Though the idea that caste is a part of a natural and moral order of things, that it is a
hereditary quality which once for all defines ones position and occupational

by intellectuals and political leaders, caste is in Indian post independence politics
continually used and abused in different ways.
State politics in India has been particularly the hot bed of political casteism. Caste

a vehicle for egalitarianism between castes, though not within them. But which type

as pluralistic and heterogeneous as India over time and territory. While caste

25. The American Public Education System
In American two out of three eighth graders can t read proficiently and for African
American and Hispanic students across the country dropout rates are close to 40
percent and those were just two of the many ways the American Education System
has failed its members. Education in the United States is provided by public schools
and private schools. Public educationis universally required at the kindergarten
through twelfth grade level. Budgets and policies are set through locally elected
schoolboards, who have jurisdiction over individual school districts. State
governments set overall educational standards, often mandate standardized tests for K
12 public schoolsystems, and supervise, usually through a board of regents, state
colleges and universities. Funding for public schools come from the state, local, and
federal government. However, with all the aforementioned points of intervention is a
new issue which only serves to reinforce my thesis that the American Public
Education System or APES for short is a static system in which over governing,
overcrowding, and forced assimilation have run rampant. In recent years the APES
has been undergoing a crisis in which academic performance has been falling behind
other countries such as Russia, Japan, and China in core subjects. While there seems
to be a lack of public knowledge about this pressing issue its precedence still speaks
volumes about what is currently happing within our country. In comparison to

In this article Robert Frost discusses his opinion on how if we do not learn anything
about poetry, we are pretty much walking around the world without understanding
any of it. Robert Frost state that a person can go through college and get a degree,
but will have to continue going to college because they are not educated enough in
literature. Robert Frost believes that education by poetry is education by metaphor .
In this document it discusses how metaphors are in our everyday lives. Robert Frost
believes that if you are not properly educated in poetry then you will not understand

He is pretty much saying if you don t know how to read or write poetry, you don t
understand anything. He goes from education to life in general and how poetry is
affecting everything. I do agree on something, like you have to be able to think to
be able to write. Poetry is a whole different learning process, and I don t agree that it
interferes with other subjects. When we are studying math for example, there is only
one answer to a problem. So the meaning is straight forwards. Where in his speech he
is saying that things don t mean what it seems like they mean.
I feel like this speech gives me a better insight on how Robert Frost feels about
poetry. Yes I don t agree with some of the things he saying, but it helps be better

This speech gave me a better understanding of who he was and there for will help me

27. Phantom of the Opera Review
Phantom of the Opera is the longest running musical to date and has become one of
the most beloved and well known musicals on Broadway. The musical was inspired
and loosely based on the characters and the story of the book Phantom of the Opera
by Gaston Leroux. This CD is the original London cast which means that this
recording is with the first cast that ever preformed the musical with the actors that
created the parts. The musical was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber
who is one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the
most well loved musicals of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and
emotional music for Phantom of the Operathat set this musical apart from all the
others. One thing that makes Phantom of the Opera a unique musical experience is
because it does not try to fit into one genre and does not try to be too modern. This
makes it unique because most of today s musicals are trying to be more pop culture.
The Phantom of the Opera manages to stay in the time period where the story takes
place but weaves in modern comedy and rock music. The most obvious way that this
is done is with the main theme of the musical. The pounding of the organ is one of
the most well known themes in musical theatreand it is reminiscent of rock music
with the guitar but it is different than rock because it is an organ not a guitar. There
are many other contrasts between old and new in the musical. One contrast is of
musical and opera. The
28. Comparing The Man With No Name In Fistful Of Dollars
Conversely, the man with no name has clear motivations throughout the entirety of
Fistful of Dollars. The man with no name is a bounty hunter, his motivation is
money. Of course, the man with no name wants to kill everyone. If he kills both
gangs he gets paid a great deal of money. The Continental op is supposed to be
solving murders not committing them. It seems like he does not care about money
so he is not doing it for that. The money Elihu is paying him is going to the
detective agency and not in his pocket, but he certainly could have taken it if he
wanted to. The man with no name has a few other motivations besides money like
protecting the people in town. He saves Marisol and her family and all he got in

By the op s own words, he only started killing because he had let Personville get the
better of him. This damned burg s getting me. If I don t leave soon I ll be going
blood simple like the natives, (193). The truth is that the detective at the beginning
that sneered and called Personville Poisonville turned out to be just as bad if not
worse than the citizens in the end. That s one of the biggest differences between the
two main characters, the detective got caught up in the crime while the bounty
hunter remained cool and collected and just did his job. It is very interesting that
the two stories differ like that because you expect it be the opposite. Bounty Hunters
are supposed to be the ones that are the bloodthirsty villains and detectives are
typically cool headed and law abiding people that can remain objective to the
problem. Both stories flipped the script on a common

World War I began in 1914 and lasted until the end of 1918. In that time young men
had to go to the front and fight for their country. It is also the time when Ernest
Hemingway s novel A Farewell to Arms takes place. It talks about Frederic Henry,
a young American who is an ambulance driver for the Italian army. He is also the
novel s narrative and protagonist. He falls in love with an English nurse, Catherine
Barkley. She is the main woman character in the novel and it is noticeable how she
is shown as a stereotypical female during World War I. Throughout the novel we
can see how women are shown in a stereotypical way and how they were mistreated
by men. The purpose of this essay is firstly to analyze how Hemingway describes

Catherine has been transferred to Milan and begins his healing under her care.
Catherine would do anything to please Henry and it can be seen how Henry takes

30. Political Climate Essay
Never before has the political climate been as divisive as it is today. As of late,
families and friendships are polarizing and hindering due to the intense partisanship
that accounts as today s norm. By today s standards when thinking about a
Democrat, one would automatically assume their views are extremely left wing,
extremely liberal, and have contemporary views. In contrast, Republicans are seen
as extremely right wing, conservative, programmed toward more traditional beliefs
and practices (405). In a visual retrospect it is as though a steam boat could drive

the other. Reasonable people on both sides of the aisle agree that common sense
immigration reform is in the best interest of the country which can doubtlessly be
achieved within a 2,200 mile wall while simultaneously ensuring immigration is
conducted legally and properly. Immigration is a great example of a highly
charged emotional issue on both sides where neither side seems willing to
compromise although the gap leaves plenty of room for compromise. Several
factors contribute to America s ideological divide and one of the main
controversies today is the second amendment and the right to bear arms. Within
the past few years alone there have been several accounts of domestic terrorism and
very little is being done to make gun purchase harder. Between the Sandy Hook
shooting, the Orlando shooting, and the Las Vegas shooting there is always talk
after the tragedies about more gun control but nothing seems to change because of
the super pac that is the NRA. The NRA s main goal when dealing with gun rights
is protecting the second amendment which includes The right of the people to keep
and bear arms shall not be infringed . Various legislative gun control acts have been
passed at the state and local levels, but because the NRA is so powerful and has its
floodgates open to an abundance of income from American supporters, gun control at
the federal level is kept at the bare minimum (148). The reason
31. Laurence Made A Habit Of Leaving The Cabin Essay
Laurence made a habit of leaving the cabin at first light. He liked the idea that his
mother might be totally oblivious to whether or not he came home at all during the
evening. He had spent the previous day sauntering between the front yard where he
chopped firewood and the shaded cabin deck where he drank cold lemonade. Every
so often, mostly when Laurence was chopping apart the forest wood, an image of the
ranger s scarred and malformed face wandered into his mind. He could not think what
sort of gruesome accident or attack could have caused someone to look so
malevolent. It took most of two days to chop all of the cabin s firewood. During
this time, Mrs. Rayes spent her time alternating between drink and sleep. When
Laurence had chopped all of the cabin s wood, Laurence began to explore the forest
that lined the cabin s yard and that confined the day s light to a small, square patch of
dried grass where upon his quaint cabin stood. In order to mark his passage through
the tangled forest, he made small, triangular gouges in the trunkof every seven or five
or three trees. The ease in which his hatchet cut marks into the limbs of each tree
excited Laurence. With each successive mark, Laurence felt his life made all the
more significant. Without conscience effort, the marks he made in each tree became
deeper and more damaging. Some three hundred yards from the edge of the forest s
wall, Laurence, thinking once more his mother, hacked away at a singular tree until he
32. The Motivation Of Fear In The Glass Castle
The Motivation of Fear What is the driving force for humanity to form civilizations
and live in homes? Is it to have a protective structure from the wild? Why do
humans act the way they do? Human nature is a natural response to the fear that
guides humanity to form the societies we see today. Fear can be defined as an
emotional response to possibility of being in danger or being anxious. Thus, the fear
of being unprotected from the weather, wild animals or insects, and people we are
unfamiliar with has led societies to be built. In the Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls tells
a different storyof her untraditional upbringing. Jeannette Walls uses events in her
past that exemplify this fear to pivot the narrative and keep the reader s attention.
From the initial start of story Jeanette choses to recant a memory that displays one of
her deepest fears of her early adult life. Jeannette s motherdecided to be unemployed
and live homeless, while Jeannette attends Barnard College and lives a more
luxurious lifestyle. From the very first sentence, I was sitting in a taxi, wondering
if I had overdressed for the evening, when I looked out the window and saw Mom
rooting through a Dumpster... It had been months since I laid my eyes on Mom,
and when she looked, I was overcome with panic that she d see me and call out my
name, and that someone on the way to the same party would spot us together and
Mom would introduce herself and my secret would be out (Walls 3). The

Abdarahmane Toure English II Dr. Hollins Ph.D Solution Problem Thesis Police
Brutality It is never a bad time to discuss matters of police brutality since at any
given time some American gets pulled over or chased down the streets. When the
police get hold of him, they probably will use excessive force in getting him to the
ground and cuffing him, they might beat him a little bit in the process, just at the
scene or maybe later at the station, or they just might kill him. This is the brutal
truth of the reality in the American streets. One can never understand clearly the
brutality of the police through mere reading of statistics. A search in the YouTube
and the videos uploaded would make you want to treat the police differently. The
past few months has seen the police in the news for all the wrong reasons. It is for
this reason that this paper sets out to explore the subject of police brutality on the
American public. Two decades ago, riots broke out in Los Angeles riots made
news across the whole nation bringing the issue of excessive use of force by the
police to the court of the public. Since then the issue has remained issue of
discussion although little has changed. The police continue to beat up suspects, they
continue to knock them off in public for a mere show of might, people have even
been killed, but very little has been done. The year 2014 was a dark year to human
rights activists. Police killed and
35. Research Paper On Coral Reefs
The Rainforests of the Sea Coral reefs are one of the most diverse habitats in the
world today and it this diversity that makes them so important to the overall health
of the oceans and thus the overall health of the oceans as a whole. Coral reefs take
up only a very small percentage of the entire surface of the ocean s surface.
However, despite this, they provide a home to about one quarter of all of the
species that live in the oceans. (Mulhall, 2007, p. 321). Among the other life forms
that live in the world s coral reefs are fish, worms, echinoderms (such as sea
urchins), sponges, and the evolutionary ancient classes of tunicates and cnidarians.
One of the most striking aspects of the diversity of coral reefs is that they can exist
(and support this florescence of life) in places where few other animals can
flourish: Cold and deep waters (Smithers Woodroffe, 2000, p. 4). However, most
corals live in tropical waters; it is on these types of corals that this paper focuses,
looking in particular at the reef fishes that make their homes in the world s coral
reefs. A very wide range of fish lives in coral reefs. These fish include both those
who live entirely within the reefs and those that move in and out of the reef s
periphery. Both types of fish eat smaller animals that also live in the reef or small
plants that habitat the reef including seaweed and algae. The fish that live in coral
reefs are often very brightly colored, a fact that allows that allows them to blend
36. Emotional Loneliness
Psychology has many concepts and theories that we all can relate to. They explain
why we do the things we do. Also explains why we feel the way we do and how to
meet are needs. One of many concepts is emotional loneliness. It is defined as
having relationships that are not satisfying and having no interpersonal
relationships. There are many types of loneliness but not all are permanent.
Emotional loneliness is when the person has no intimate attachment figure. Social
loneliness is when the person has no friendship network to lean on. Transient
loneliness is different because it happens after having satisfying relationships. A
death or a move can cause transient loneliness. The disadvantages of being lonely
are being at higher risk for cardiovascular disease and cancer. I can relate to this a
lot because I m constantly lonely. I m a nice person and caring; so I don t

It s to maximize benefits and minimize costs. This concept helps us determine the
worth of the relationship. Rewards could be things like gifts, recognition, smile or
a nod. Costs would be punishments like beating, humiliation or a frown. An
example of this concept would be asking someone to go on a date with you. The
person says no which is a punishment. Since they said no you are likely to be
nervous about doing this interaction again in the future. If you ask someone on a
date and get a yes then it s a reward which makes you likely to do it again. When I
cried in a therapist office before and only received a blank stare; I felt uncared about.
I was experiencing social exchange theory when I cried and wanted sympathy back
but didn t get it. This is another reason I don t like therapy because I open myself up
and feel I get no reward back like a hug. I find it very cold hearted and
37. My Critical Evaluation Of Various Components
The reflective essay will pertain to chapter 8 and my critical evaluation of various
components in this chapter. Attention is different for everyone, so ideally we all
have things we play closer attention too. When I m out and I see people who wear
pink or have sparkles I tend to pay more attention that area. I also get distracted
very easily so if I am out and about and there is commotion going on I ll stop to see
what all the fuss is about. My own selective attentiondeals with movements, sparkly
and pink objects. If any of those apply my retina will process that for me. What
types of things do you pay close attention too? Selective attention makes me think
of being at a party or some type of gathering where you don t really know anyone. I
usually make saccades of the environment. If I see someone I know or looks
familiar I will remain fixated for a couple seconds than look away. At that moment I
try and process how I recognize them. When I first saw the term dichotic listening this
is what came to mind. Whisper down the alley is what popped up in my brain. I
learned this game in elementary school where one person whispers a message into
your and you pass it on to the next person. Sometimes there were two messages that
were started in both directions, than passed to each individual participating. Whiter
it is one message or two the whole point was to see if the message in the end
matched the original message. In most cases it did not, do too how we hear the
message is

and follow your instinct. * Being prepared and ready to look for new challenges

Being constantly motivated to extend and expand capabilities.
Self awareness is being conscious of oneself, of one s own style as a leader, and of
one s own qualities. Personal reflection and getting feedback from others are
necessary elements for developing self awareness, a process labeled double loop
learning (Nahavandi, 2009, p. 337). What one learns from others as well from
himself is reflected in self awareness. One needs to know his own potential and be
aware of his weakness to recognize chances for expansion (Crnokrak, 2010)
(Nahavandi, 2009, p. 336 337).
Experiences have a great impact in a leader s life; the experiences a leader can have
can be really strong but on occasions can have a negative effect. Sometimes,
experiences can create a stronger leader although sometimes experiences can frighten
a leader. Confronting negative experiences make leaders be afraid and back away

40. Analysis Of The Play Waiting For Godot
The play Waiting for Godot performed at the NYU Skirball Center for the
Performing Arts provides an impressive adaptation of Samuel Beckett s original
work. First off, the Irish theatrical troupe, Gare St Lazare, is one of the foremost
specialist on Beckett s work, which includes modern interpretations of his work in
Waiting for Godot. This production combines a strong does of slapstick comedy,
which is typically found in the way Vladimir (Nathan Lane) and Estragon (Bill
Irwin) are often seen physically interacting with each other when taking off boots,
running about the circular stage, and other back slapping styles of Laurel and
Hardy methods of interaction. In comparison, Beckett s play tends to reveal the
absurdity of poverty of the two men, which is depicted in a more serious depiction
of their wretched lives. For instance, in one scene Beckett s Vladimir is more prone
to somber bouts of violence in the original play: Enter Vladimir, somber. He
shoulders Lucky out of his way, kicks over the stool, comes and goes agitatedly
(36). In the Gare St Lazare production, the slapstick style of comedy is far less
violent in terms of projecting a more comedic view of poverty in the dire
circumstances portrayed by Lane s portrayal of Vladimir. However, there are some
elements of the absurd, which are dictated by the presentation of Beckett s play in a
smaller venue, such as the Skirball Theater at New York University. The Irishness of
the play is typically found in the

The future has met the present in the Burj Khalifa, which stands today as the tallest
building ever built, standing at around 830 metres (2,700 ft) tall. From the top of the
Burj Khalifa s 160 floors, one can see a circumference distance of about 855
kilometres (550 miles). When compared, the highest observational deck of the
Empire State Building in New York City, once the tallest building in the world,
developed a circumferential view of about 320 km. The 460,000 square meter
structure contains residential, hotel, commercial, office, entertainment, shopping,
leisure, and parking facilities. With accurate and sophisticated panning, engineers
construct and built this larger than life structure in a really short time involving some
of the latest construction methods of this era. The concepts used for the Burj Khalifa s
foundation construction, overall structural design, wind engineering, and
construction planning have revolutionised high rise construction.
The goal of the Burj Khalifa is not to be the world s highest building, it s to express
the world s highest aspirations. The superstructure has reached over 165 stories. the

Walmart is the largest employer in the country and for the past several years have
been criticized regarding the low wages they pay their employees and relying on part
time workers (Tabuchi, 2015). Studies have shown that how Walmart pays their

In 2014, the hourly wage for a Walmart cashier in the United Stateswas $9.93 and
data showed that a Walmart s cashier took home $8.62. Nationwide, retail
salesperson made $12.38, while at Walmart they were making $8.53 (The Economist,

43. Arguments About Immigration
Every year, thousands of immigrants, legal and illegal, come into the United States. In
America. Immigrants and their U.S. born children now number approximately 84.3
million people, or 27 percent of the overall U.S. population (Zong and Batalova).
Immigrants come to America for multiple reasons. Some examples are; to live in
freedom, to practice their religion freely, to escape poverty, and to make better lives
for themselves and their children. Immigration has its benefits. Our country was
founded with many immigrants. Terrorist attacks are occurring often, mostly from
immigrants. Many Sexually transmitted diseases are being brought over and now
HIV testing is not on the scanning list. Also, the economy is negatively effected by
immigrants working for less. While immigrants contribute to America by adding the
cultures flavor, the United Statesshould adopt policies to further restrict or suspend
immigration. To become an American citizen is not easy but to come into America is.
There are multiple way an immigrant can come to America. The problem is not
immigrants becoming citizens, the problem is immigrants just coming to America for
a short amount of time. There are three ways immigrants can get into America that
should be more strict. The first rule that should be more strict is more strict is the
Protection of Refugees, and other Vulnerable Populations. This allows people who
are unable to return to their homeland because of life threatening or bad conditions.
44. Data And Processing Of Data Essay
Abstract The amount of data being generated nowadays has increased tremendously.
With these large volumes of data, there is a need for efficient storage and
processing of data. The data generated from a variety of sources like Social
networking sites, Emails, audio and video files, text files and other various files is
unstructured. The traditional databasecannot handle this complex and high volumes
of data efficiently. The Hadoop framework provides an effective solution for
storing large volumes of data and processing the data for analysis. This paper deals
about the Traditional Databases, Big data, Data analysis and how effectively
Hadoop stores these large volumes of data and processes data for analysis.
Furthermore, this paper also focuses on the various technologies used in Hadoop for
the purpose of storing the data and for processing the data.
I.INTRODUCTION
The word Big data describes the large data sets, which contains a large amount of
data. The data may exist in structured, semi structured and unstructured forms. The
structured data is a type of data whose degree of organization is high, with a well
defined data model, whereas Unstructured data is quite opposite to structured data
which doesn t have well defined data structure and is not classified. The semi
structured data is cross of structured data and unstructured data, it doesn t have a well
defined structure, but has some properties of structured data. The Big data is a
combination of these different data
45. Education Reform Across The World
As with most things in society, there is never one right way to approach an issue,
and education reform across the world is one of the many examples that prove this to
be true. Over time, there has been a growing importance on the quality of education
across the globe, which is measured through standardized testing. This new way to
measure the quality of educationstudents are getting has grown to create high
competition among the countries as each strives to obtain the highest ranking
country title. However, not all countries are able to compete, let alone test at all, as
they are much less economically stable and usually have a very poor education
system in place. While students in the United States or China are spending many
sleepless nights preparing for one of their many examinations, children in Ghana
or Brazil are struggling to merely find a way to both get an education and help to
support their family. The countries that are a part of the developing world are all
very diverse, however many share similar defining characteristics and face similar
problems in their education system. These nations are typically those that were
