Nurse Practitioners

General Paper

Nurses and Nurse Practitioners and their Impact The idea of nursing actually pre
dates the 19th century, but the first professional nurse is Florence Nightingale.
Traditionally, only sick people with families could get the level of care needed, but
Nightingale realized the mistake in that assumption. If one didn t have a family
they couldn t get the correct level of care. During the Crimean War, Nightingale
helped clean the soldier s wounds, provide wholesome food, and generally keep the
wounded tent clean. This drastically reduced the amount of casualties and thus the
idea of professional nurses was born. A few years down the road, physicians gave
nurses a more in depth education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

area they are studying, but they are equipped for most things that many people aren

administering their care. Finally, doctors of nursing are leaders who make bold
decisions in the healthcare world. They are the ultimate end game for any nurse
wishing to be something even more amazing. Even though the road to becoming any
one of these levels is tedious and requires hard work, that s exactly what a nurse is:
hardworking. Unfortunately in the United States, there has been a shortage of nurses.
This shortage is making an already difficult job even more difficult. With all of the
fantastic school available in Florida, it is obvious anyone who is ready for a lifetime

Comparison Of Catherine De Medici And Nur Jahan s...
Incompetent Men; Qualified Women
The topic of female leaders is often a controversial subject, and quite frankly it should
not be. Throughout history, there have been many female leaders who had significant
achievements, and in some cases, have surpassed their male counterparts. Catherine
de Medici and Nur Jahan are two perfect examples of accomplished female leaders
during the Renaissance, on opposite sides of the world; one in Europe and one in
Asia. Despite their vastly different locations, they were remarkably similar people.
Catherine de Medici reigned as both Queen of France and Regent of France during
her political life. Likewise, Nur Jahan reigned as empress of the Mughal Empire only
fifteen or so years later.5 Both women held high positions of power, which was quite
unconventional at the time. Nur Jahan s achievements were truly unparalleled... in

My Design Of Sighting A Gun
I.The purpose for my design is to speed up the process of sighting a gun in, the
scope to take into compensate the parabolic launch of a bullet, and to hit to target
bulls eye. Sighting in a gun requires a long trial and error process that any hunter,
marine, or police sniper would agree upon. As a bullet is fired from a rifle it rises a
few inches for about one hundred yards or more where it descends below the axis
of the barrel. The scope looks like any other scope but will account for the parabolic
launch and relocate its self to the correct position for the most accurate shot. Nikon is
a company that produces quality scopes and would be a good contestant for the idea.
They support their products being brighter, clearer, precise, and rugged, but these are
just a few of the attributes knowledgeable hunters commonly use to describe Nikon
riflescopes. Nikon is determined to bring hunters, shooters, and sportsmen a wide
selection of the best huntingoptics money can buy while at the same time pushing
the envelope to create revolutionary capabilities for the serious hunter (Nikon). The
design would also need an electrical engineer to design the wiring and microchips
/sensors, but a mechanical engineer from Power Electrics would also be needed to fit
the motor for the positioning of the scope. I would like to arrange a meeting for all of
us to discuss and perfect the idea. II.The scope, Buck Slayer by Slade Mills and
Nikon, will be about the same size as any other

Chopin Prelude No 15 Essay
Chopin s Prelude No. 15 for Solo Piano Hey guys, welcome to my blog! Today, I ll
be sharing with you guys one of my favourite pieces by romantic composer,
Chopin, Prelude No 15, or more commonly known as Raindrop. Frederic Chopin s
Prelude No 15, also known as Raindrop, is one of Chopin s 24 preludes. His preludes
were written between 1835 and 1839 and were published in 1839. Chopin s
preludes were arranged in a circle of fifths, with each major key being followed by
its relative minor. In comparison, Bach s collection of fugues and preludes, known
as The Well Tempered Clavier was arranged according to keys, each one a semitone
higher. This is why some believe Chopin intended the preludes to be played in a
single performance as a continuous... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sublime In Romantic Poetry
Romantic Poetry
Introduction
Romantic poetry tends to embrace certain particular themes, and one of the main
themes found in romantic poetry is the sublime (addressing male themes of reason,
strength, and fortitude ); another main theme is the feminine, which tends to
represent beauty and domesticity. This paper explores the theme of the sublime,
which has been employed effectively and creatively by both male and female poets.
The Sublime in Romantic Poetry
Scholars know that not all worthy romantic poetry has been created by males,
writes Christopher John Murray in his book the Encyclopedia of the Romantic Era,
1760 1850. And although the most well known romantic poets happen to be British
males like Coleridge and Wordsworth, for example there were notable female poets
who also used the sublime (also referred to as masculine ) theme and who were
brilliant at their artistry albeit in the shadows of the male poets who got more
attention.
One of those female poets of note was Helen Maria Williams (1761 1827). She
wrote poetry from the romantic genre about the horrors of the slave trade, she wrote
about the Spanish colonialism in native people in South America, and she wrote
about the French Revolution. In fact Napoleon had her arrested in 1802 for her poem
Ode on the Peace of Amiens. Her poem, A Song, embraces the sublime / masculine
theme.

What Does It Mean To Be Human
To Be Human Producers Statement
For my To Be human assignment the central theme of my drawing is what does it
mean to be human. I chose to do a comic/drawing that visually/creatively represents
four distinct things that I believe sets us humans apart from other animals. These are
four different aspects of the human condition that people, as well as myself
personally, see as the things that make us human.
The intended audience for my task is possibly more educated people who understand
the significance of these things as well as other people wanting to learn about the
roles things play on our social perception of humanity. I aim for my audience to react
with agreement and to make the connection with how they see these things in their
everyday lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crying is believed to be almost exclusive to humans with few exceptions. People
use crying to release/convey the emotion of sadness which is crucial to our
construction of society. An animal may be sad or confused in reaction to an event
but human sadness is a much more complicated concept that has not yet been
wholly understood by science. By not not been understood I mean that
Neurologists may be able to show you the areas activated in the brain by sadness
and a psychologist may be able to discuss what things make as sad and why it does
specific to certain kinds of people but none of these of these people can explain why
it is that we cry. Some evolutionary scientists and social psychologist may try to
dumb it down to something as simple as expressing emotion socially but I believe
that it is a much more complicated and mysterious
Who Is Responsible For Macbeths Downfall
Reasons for Macbeths Downfall Foul is fair and fair is foul (I.i.12), this quote is
spoken by the three witches in the beginning of Shakespeare s Macbeth. In this story
Macbeth commits murder multiple times in order to secure the crown. Macbeth was
not completely at fault for these sins however. One party responsible for Macbeths
sins are the three witches, these hags are seen multiple times throughout the story and
give Macbethinformation that they had gained through they re visions. Had Macbeth
not been told this information by the witches then he wouldn t have had the reason
to do the crimes that he did. Without the witch s prophesy then he never would have
killed King Duncan for the throne because without the promise of the throne there
was no incentive. He was a loyal servant of the kingdom and previously wouldn t
have even dreamt of killing Duncan. It s obvious that he was a loyal servant to the
throne because in the war it is mentioned that he was a brave and valiant fighter for
the king.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Macbeth told her about the witch s prophesy about his eventual fortune she
encouraged him to take the life of Duncan who was at the time a guest at her and
Macbeths home. At the times that Macbeth was struggling to find the conviction to
kill his ruler Lady Macbeth was always there to wear away his morals. This starts
the process of Macbeths moral degradation which eventually lead him to become a
monster who killed multiple people. This makes sense because people rarely will do
something against their values without outside

Introduction Healey and Zimmerman state (2010) that an innovative program will
require not only team effort, but input from community leaders as well as
collaborative partners, that will aid in the development, implementation, evaluation of
a community education campaign, as well as the program continuance, including
funding. The campaign should be built constructed on strong and understandable
messages, so that the target population can take action and pass on the message from
its memorable key components. An effective campaign then, will devise under the

Summary Of Plunkitt Of Tammany Hall
The book Plunkitt of Tammany Hall can leave readers with mixed feelings about
politics from Plunkitt s perspective. Plunkitt, himself, used some questionable
tactics while he was a politician and defends what he did; such as the difference
between honest graft and dishonest graft. Plunkitt lived in the world of politics
for forty plus years and thrived in the middle of it all with his political machine,
Tammany Hall. The views Plunkitt held differ from those of the Founding Fathers
of the United States of America. Politics was a word that was used flippantly in
Plunkitt s vocabulary. To him, being a politician and living in the world of election
and re election was all a game. He used his status as a politician to gain power,
money, and influence on the people surrounding him. An example of Plunkitt
using his status to gain money can be found in the first chapter of the book. I see
my opportunity and I take it. I go to that place and I buy up all the land I can in the
neighborhood. Then the board of this or that makes its plan public, and there is a

Plunkitt seems to have a utopia planned for the entire City of New York; for it to
become an oligarchy under the careful watch and guidance of the political machine,
Tammany Hall. Plunkitt describes how no one, but the Tammany Hall leaders, would
have to worry about anything if New York became its own state. Plunkitt even
references President Abraham Lincoln, saying the government of Tammany Hall is
one that Lincoln would have blessed. Plunkitt continues to talk about how he would
do everyone a favor by helping them until he believes they can stand on their own
two feet. To show what he means, he uses the analogy of how the federal government
is looking after and helping the
King Arthur Good And Evil
Once, there was a king of England named Uther Pendragon, who had previously
dueled with a duke in Cornwall named Duke of Tintagel. The Duke of Tintagel s
wife, Ingraine, had caught the attention of Uther, however even if she liked him
back, she respects her marriage with the Duke too much to dishonor it, so she
requests to leave immediately before anyone sees them. After Uther notices of their
early departure, he asks his council what he should do to bring them back. The
council advises him to threaten them with war, and that they have a deadline of forty
days before he considers punishment. When the Duke hears about these news, he
leaves his castle to go to Terrabil and leaves Ingraine in his castle. When Uther hears

When Sir Ector saw this, he confessed about how Arthur came upon his caring and
how Merlin delivered him to him. Everyone needed proof, so all throughout the year

considered he had passed the test, he shouldn t wait anymore, and he shall become
king. When Arthur proclaims his throne, he fixes all the concerns he is presented
with and returns all the lands to their rightful owners. Arthur announced he would
have a great feast after his coronation and he would invite all the kings with their
knights. Arthur was so glad that they were coming that he sent them gifts which they
gave back since they didn t believe in Arthur and didn t want gifts from a child. When
they came for the feast, Merlin explained to them that Arthur was the real king and he
wasn t a bastard, but the kings still despised him and later on, attacked him, but when
Arthur pulled out the sword of Excalibur, they were all frightened and retreated after
having many knights slain by Arthur s sword. After this Merlin expected revenge
from these defeated kings and informed Arthur through the council, but Arthur

Portfolio Management Concepts Essay
Portfolio Management Concepts The concept of portfolio management is a
lucrative sword as not only it offers not only returns but the investor also have to
face risk associated with it. If the Investor is willing to earn higher return he has to
associate higher return with higher risk. For an investor to diversify away the risk
he can follow diversification rule. Under diversification, investor can include the
assets which are not correlated to each other and thus by including these asset
classes he can diversify away the risk. However, in terms of the risk there are two
kinds of risk i.e Unsystematic Risk and Systematic Risk and an investor can diversify
only unsystematic risk by following diversification rule including the asset classes...

Finance which is a branch of investment world that explain the stock prices anomalies
because of psycholigical behavior of investors. In other words, behavior analysis
reveals the pattern of how the market outcomes and an investors investment decisions
are influenced by the prevailing market information structure and characteristc of
market participants. It considers the psychological bases for percieved investor

Pain into Beauty Essay
Pain into Beauty
People look back on their childhoods in different ways. Some see it as a time of joy
and laughter, love and learning. Many feel a bittersweet mixture of happy nostalgia,
and painful moments. Some prefer not to look back at all, seeking only to move
forward. Then there are people like me, who look back in anger, bitterness, and
sorrow. It seems that few people enjoy a pain free upbringing. In fact, the very idea of
childhood is a fairly new concept. In the early part of the last century, children were
considered miniature adults, and were expected to act that way. Abuse, as defined
today, was ignored and sometimes encouraged. Spare the rod and spoil the child.
Today, abuse is carefully defined and is illegal, but many... Show more content on

We moved to Denver, Colorado during my first year of life, into a duplex. It was a

A Career As A Sound Technician
Sound technicians work in a variety of different areas, from television advertisements
and television panel shows to feature films and sporting events that are covered on
live TV. Generally, sound technicians who work on the production side of things are
responsible for checking and preparing all the sound equipment for shoots, carrying
out additional practical tasks to minimise unwanted sounds on set, evaluating the
acoustics of a particular studio or location, and positioning recording equipment in the
right place at the right time. Furthermore, they will tweak sound levels and monitor
audio signals during filming. Some sound technicians specialise in one particular
area, such as boom operators. These guys operate the boom microphone, positioning
it in the optimal place (where it won t go into shot!). If the boom is hand held, this
can often be a physically strenuous job. These guy s precise movements are planned
meticulously, and they might also position other microphones around the set to

Explain How Video Games Have Changed Over The Years
For over 50 years, video games have been around the entertain men and women of
many different ages. Many of the original gaming consoles have changed or
evolved over the years. From first person shooters or 3D adventure roll playing
games, it has changed over the decades through their consoles. In October of 1958, a
man by the name of William Higinbotham, created the first video gamesystem, so it

what started this video game craze The first video game consolewas the Magnavox

Ganesan Multiple Intelligence
Based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Ganesan is categorised as an
individual with strong bodily kinaesthetic intelligence, but weak logical mathematical
intelligence. The current Malaysian education system emphasises more on academic
performances. When Ganesan failed to get good grades in his studies, he would be
labelled as stupid . However, when Ganesan performed well in his football games and
matches, teachers are not giving him credits on that. The Malaysian school education
system focuses more on the academic results of students, often neglects the co
curriculum activities, such as sports and event organising (Shahran, 2013). In order
to get the ideal results, students would memorise a lot, even if it means to sacrifice
the time for extra co curricular activities for study. Students only develop the skills to
tackle school examinations, but chances to be exposed to real time challenges have
been reduced. Thus, even though students might get many... Show more content on

As per contra, this theory has its downside. For instance, it does not have solid
research in classroom, due to the limited research to exhibit the effectiveness of this

education system should not restrain students to only pursue academic success,
instead it should provide platforms for pupils to exert and develop their abilities
freely. When the education is matured and students potentials are allowed to develop
without restriction, students like Ganesan will certainly enjoy going to school with
enthusiasm because he can perform his talents in and outside classroom without
How People Respond To Conflict
In times of war, history shows how people from across culture respond to conflict.
In world war II some people respond to conflict by mass genocide, hate, fear and by
losing faith. However, others respond with a positive attitude love, and hope. Also
in a war some people lose the ones they love. The sources face conflict because it

Film Analysis Of The Film The Untouchables
The Untouchables The film, the Untouchables, was directed by Brian De Palma. It
was set in the prohibition era, which was right at the start of the 1920 s.
Prohibition can be described as a law that made selling and manufacturing alcohol
illegal. By putting this law into effect, it actually increased the amount of crime and
violence throughout cities in the US. This was ultimately due to the rise in
organized crime, also known as gangs. In the movie specifically, it was centered
around the rise of the Mafia in Chicago. By looking at the production of the movie,
we can see how during prohibition, the Mafia controls everything and the violence
ultimately it leads to. Al Capone was the center of the movie, as a man who went

It is an underrated way to make you feel a certain way in the scene. We can hear a
dark, opera type singing at the part when he is beat. When one hears this type of
music being played in certain scenes, it shows a person s dark side and gives the
impression that one is ultimately the bad guy in the movie. Demonstrating violence is
one of the most important factors in the film. An important part of the film that
shows this, is when Elliott Ness is trying to catch the bookkeeper at the train station.
It then turns into a shootout scene between the Mob and Ness. In this scene, at the
beginning, slow motion was used to help convey the violence that was happening.
When things are in slow motion, it helps to bring about the detail and gore that is
unfolding before our eyes. After this, the shooting unfolds, and the slow motion
stops. Next, it was filmed with a wide screen which was effective for showing
intricate movements, like this shoot out scene. Throughout this part, quick cuts were
used to conveys that things are out of control and this brings out the intensity of the
violence. All these techniques help show the violence that played out because of
prohibition. Despite the violence that plays out in the film, there is still a sense of
bravery and heroism. Ness and then three other men he was with portray this. We can
tell this by the men going up against Capone and the Mafia, knowing how powerful
and violent they

Israel P.L.O. Peace Treaty Essay
Israel P.L.O. Peace Treaty
The Middle East has always been known as the Holy Land, the land of the Bible.
For centuries, prophets have walked there, nations have collided and conquerors
have come and gone. While Jews claim a three thousand year old attachment to this
ancient land, Arabs also stake their devotion. In 1993, these two peoples, involved in
a tragic conflict that has lasted more than half a century, saw the possibility of a new
beginning. It was called the Oslo Accord, and it transformed the political realities of
the Middle East (Peres, p.2) However, there have been many turbulent events that
have followed the signing of the Accord, events that have undermined the agreement
and are threatening to drive Israelis and Arabs ... Show more content on

In June 1992, the Labour government was elected in Israel on a platform of peace
and change. At its head was Yitzhak Rabin, former military chief of staff. His move
from the battlefield to the negotiation table was a historical moment in the life of
Israel.
Madrid had failed because Israeli and United States delegates refused to deal with
the PLO. But Rabin and foreign minister Peres, unlike their predecessors, were
willing to pursue new avenues for peace. The way was now paved for one of the
most intriguing diplomatic accords of recent years, the Oslo Agreement. It was now
clear that direct dialogue was needed between the PLO and Israel. (Peres, p. 12)
Secret talks were arranged between the two sides in Norway starting in January
1993. However, one key matter held up the talks, that being the Israeli ban on
contact with the PLO. When the Israeli Knesset repealed this, the way to Oslo was
open. Talks took place between January and May of 1993. As talks continued,
complications arose, notably Israel s insistence that it retain control of West Bank
security. However, as trust grew, both sides compromised as they moved towards
reconciliation and mutual recognition. After eight months of negotiations, an
agreement of principles was signed secretly in Oslo. The declaration of principles
bound Israel and the Palestinians to a five year interim agreement. Power over Gaza
and Jericho would be transferred to the Palestinians, economic programs

Use Of A Computer On The Basic Level
Nowadays we live in the era of computers. Everybody should know at least how to
use a computer on the basic level. I ve found a great resource both for those who are
willing to improve their programming skills and for those who only start
programming!
Example:
In this hour, you get a chance to learn some Python basics, such as using the print
function to display output. You will read about using variables and how to assign
values to variables, and you will gain an understanding of their data types. By the end
of the hour, you will know how to get data into a script by using the input function
and write your first Python script!
Producing Python Script Output
Understanding how to produce output from a Python script is a good starting point
for those who are new to the Python programming language. You get instant feedback
on your Python statements from the Python interactive interpreter and can
experiment with proper syntax. The print function, which you met in Hour 3, Setting
Up a Programming Environment, is a good place to focus your attention.
Exploring the print Function
A function is a group of Python statements that are put together as a unit to perform a
specific task. You simply enter a single Python statement to perform a task for you.

Darfur Rebellion Essay
In spring 2003, the Sudanese government promised land to Arab tribes who agreed
to control the Darfur Liberation Front (DLF) rebellion. This was the foundation of
the genocide. In April of 2003, rebels from the DLF attacked the Sudanese air force
base in Al Fashir. The DLF divided into two units: the Sudan Liberation Movement
/Army (SLM/A) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM). In July 2003, militias
were formed by nomadic Arab tribes. They were named the Janjaweed, which means
devil on horseback in Arab. The Janjaweed and the Sudanese government wreak
havoc throughout Darfurby kidnapping Darfuris, burning and looting villages, and
raping and killing their victims. In early 2004, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR)

million civilians were displaced in Darfur and Chad by the end of 2004, around

Analysis Of The Poem The House Of Asterion
The House of Asterion is a marvel. The concepts, writing style, and use of literary
devices all pay tribute to Jorge Borges s skill as a writer. The House of Asterion has
many points that prompt an in depth literary discussion. At first glance at this written
work, the reader may see some obvious themes. The story is basically a different
perspective on the Minotaur myth, it explores the extreme loneliness the main
character, Asterion, feels, and it challenges common roles of good against evil. The
different perspective is perhaps the most prominent theme readers see in the story.
Additionally, the very real loneliness and boredom Asterion experiences, and the path
he seemingly chooses towards the end of the story, shows an almost human aspect to
an otherwise mindless monster; this would most certainly also attract a reader s
attention. And finally the theme of roles being switched from traditional places
would perhaps catch the attention of a majority of readers. However, there is one
more theme that is quite awe inspiring but rarely considered. That of the labyrinthin
The House of Asterion being the center of the universe, and at its center, the
Minotaur. It is said by many that perhaps Asterion is dreaming. That his world is the
labyrinth and he is the center of it. This will be explored with the examining the
literary devices Jorge Borges uses, other written works he has used this concept in,
and his own personal accounts.

became a member of the San Francisco Committee on Crime. During 1969,
Feinstein was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming again
the first woman ever to serve as the board s president. During the same period,
Dianne Feinstein also ran for mayor twice, losing to her contenders both times. In
1978, Diane Feinstein became the acting mayor of San Francisco after the sitting

Mcdonald s Case Study Analysis
McDonalds Case
Overview:
McDonalds have dominated the fast food world for years since their humble
beginnings. Over the years they have proved the test of time and been the number
one fast food restaurant in sales. Through dynamic market expansion, new products,
and special promotional strategies they have been able to take over the world of fast
food. McDonald s is a completely global company that has been effective in catering
to each need of a country they enter. In 1993 they opened a McCafe which is a
coffee house inspired McDonalds in Australia and has grown to more than 300 units
in 17 countries. They have brought the idea to America in hopes that I will change

Another problem for McDonalds is that more and more people are looking for
healthier requirements from their meals. The American society is beginning to
become more health conscious about what they ingest into their bodies, which
makes many opt out of eating at McDonalds. Many are moving from eating
hamburgers and replacing it with sandwiches. Subway is leading the industry with
more than 13,000 US outlets. Consumers are requiring cleaner and fresher looking
restaurants and food service for their money and people are willing to pay a couple
dollars more for a better dining experience... said Mitchell Speiser, analyst at
Leman Brothers. McDonalds is now forced to invest more revenue into their
physical stores in order to shed the Cheap and greasy image that has became of
them. All of these problems play a part in the fact that net income has been
declining. From 2000 to 2001 net income shrunk by seventeen percent to $1.64
Billion. This is a major drop in one year and should be a main concern for
McDonalds. Even though McDonald s U.S. market share remained about that of
competitors, it grew slower. Its share was up 2.2 percent in 200 compared to 2.7
percent growth for Burger King Corp. and 2.5 percent of Wendy s International. If
McDonalds fails to address these prevalent problems they may continue to lose more
market share and their customer
Apostle Paul s Adoption Of The Coming-Of-Age Ceremony
Christianity is the world s largest religion, with an estimated 2.2 billion believers,
nearly a third (31percent) of all 6.9 billion people on Earth (Pew Research Center,
2015). In many Western Christian churches, those deriving from Rome after the East
West Schism, a young person celebrates his/her coming of age with the Sacrament of
Confirmation (Harrill, 2002). In Eastern Orthodoxy the baptizing Priest gives
Confirmation to infants, directly after baptism. This is usually done by the Bishop
laying his hands upon the forehead of the young person, usually between the ages of
12 to 15 years, and marking them with the seal of the Holy Spirit. In some
denominations during this sacrament the child, now considered an adult in the eyes
of God, adopts a confirmation name which is added onto their Christian name.
Essay about Australian Tariffs
Should Australia reintroduce tariffs for the car industry?
Australia s automotive industry is a significant contributor and major employer to the
national economy. But the economy is in crisis. The greatest problem for the
automotive industry is the mindset of the cabinets. Cabinets became downright
apoplectic and argue that tax payers should not support a failing industry, and they
vehemently combat the automotive industry policy as a matter of principle.
The truth is, Australia cannot afford losing its car industry. Several academic
investigations have been conducted about how this industry contributes to national
economy, and the answer couldn t be clearer: it would cost Australia more losing its
automotive industry rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarding subsidies, the Australian government applies rates on several ambits, like
home care, oxygen and enteral feeding or residential respite and this is only about
healthcare. To be honest, Australia has a balanced taxing system, with rates that are
internationally lower than other countries rates; besides, there exists a real need for a
tax system for the government to have enough resources to ensure a decent lifestyle
for its citizens and to provide them with the basic human needs. Leaving aside rates
like those meant to regulate industries like the automotive one, it seems that Australia
has a fair economic system, not meant for crippling the citizen s economy, but rather
to ensure that all the people s resources paid in the form in taxes contribute to the
general wellbeing.
Who do you think are the winners / losers from such protectionist measures?
Ultimately, the citizens are the most benefited or prejudiced by these taxes and
subsidies. As it has been said before, Australia s rates and tariffs are significantly
lower when compared to those that other countries apply; and the income that results
from these said payments should be applied on new infrastructure, on attending the
people s needs, and on ensuring that unforeseen disasters will be properly faced and
answered. This is the ideal system of taxing and applying tariffs: for the country s
money to serve the country s needs. Still, applying additional taxes to industries or

Characteristics Of Slave Narratives
Slave Narratives were written by the slaves themselves or narrated by them and
written by a friend or a relative and some were even passed on orally. These
narratives depicted the difficult lives of the hardworking slaves; description of cruel
masters, whippings, difficulties encountered in learning to read and write, slave
auctions and their successful attempts to escape as well as foiled escape attempts.
One of the defining characteristics of the slave narrativeis the testimonial or letter of
authenticity generally written by a white editor or abolitionist friend of the narrator. In
order to be published, black authors had to be endorsed by whites who could testify to
their credibility and the authenticity of their stories. One of the defining... Show more

Often slaves who attempted a secret education were penalised and this led to either
disfigurement or even death. Certain slave writers focused on the quest for literacy
which these slaves believed were in a way often linked with their personal quest
for freedom. Slaves who managed to learn to read and write were the ones who
were most likely to escape, because they could use their hard earned knowledge to
forge their own passes after having read about the successful escapes made by the
other similar slaves from the other plantations. Like the Negro spirituals religious
songs sung by the Negroes the slave narratives have had a profound impact on the
contemporary American literature scenario. And like the lively negro spirituals
which often contained secret codes and messages that were decipherable only by the
enslaved blacks the slave narratives were considered dangerous and subversive by
many of the slaveholders and these plantation owners feared that these narratives

The Beliefs Of Joel Osteen
Throughout time, there have been diverse religious beliefs that have been taken into
account regarding Christianity and God. Although, many pastors have reflected
their own beliefs on that matter, one pastor can stand out from the rest. The name is
Joel Osteen who became a minister in 2006 in Houston, Texas. His primary focus
differed than many others, as he did not focus on the sins or evils that this corrupt
world overcomes society with. Instead, he decided to preach about the idea of
positive thinking and self improving. Basically, he believed that individuals in society
should focus on themselves, as they take priority over the community as a whole.

Basically, Meeks is trying to find a way for religion to speak to all of society,
which he does through by having an economic standpoint where God is envisioned
as the manger of the household.. Therefore, he holds standards of liberal theology
where the system that God sets up is for all to benefit in the long run. Since it
benefits all, not a single individual will be more privileged than the other. In order
to achieve this balance, people must not have possessive individualism. This is the
a phenomenon where people are driven by their own interests, which causes people
to disregard others in society around them. By concentrating on the interests of the
self over others, people will fall into the trap of possessive individualism, which
Osteen promotes in his preaching. However, he is wrong, as the focus should be
about society as a whole where people have perichoretic relationships as individual
interests cannot be separated from the others. If people have this mindset, then
social goods will be a norm and everyone has access to livelihood. On the other
hand, if people buy into the beliefs of Osteen, then they will block out the interests
of society as a whole and some would not have an opportunity to gain access to
The Importance Of Strengthening Your Grip On Football
Strengthening Your Grip On The Football. Fumbles occur usually as a result of the
quarterback being knocked down and the defender punching the ball out of his
hands while he s falling. While it is true that a good defensive play can cause a
fumble, some cases can be avoided with some drills. The first drill you can try is
the Spin Move drill. Naturally when you fall you put your arm out for balance. This
allows any defender behind you to knock the ball out of your hands. This drill tries to

making changes to one s life in order to prevent serious health related problems.
There are three main levels of health promotion. The first level is primary
prevention which involves taking measures to prevent illnesses from occurring,
this may include proper dieting, physical activity, managing stress, and avoiding
harmful activities and habits (Giddens, 2013, p. 407). According to Pryce (2016),
shift workers often eat unhealthy, lack an appropriate amount of exercise, and
smoke cigarettes. Nurses who perform shift work may successfully achieve
primary prevention by packing healthy snacks for work, walking the floor or stairs
during their break, and avoiding caffeine and tobacco smoking. The next level of
prevention is the secondary level. This step involves screening and catching
illnesses before they worsen (Giddens, 2013, p. 407). There has been many health
related conditions associated with shift work, such as increased blood pressure and
diabetes and risk of mortality related to CVD (Gu et. al, 2015). Nurses who work
shift work can implement the second level of prevention by performing frequent
blood pressure checks and getting themselves screened for blood glucose and

Compare And Contrast Ice Fishing And Summer Fishing
Ice Fishing or Summer Fishing Fishing is an extremely fun thing to do. The
objective of fishing is to outsmart a fish by catching it using a bait. People have been
fishing for thousands, upon thousands, of years. It can be something somebody does
for fun, or for food. Regardless, it is a fun thing to undergo. However, which is
better, fishingin the summer or fishing in the winter? There are lots of different baits
that can be used while summer fishing. Fishcan be caught differently during this
time. One way to catch fish is by casting and reeling. When using this method, you
cast a lure into the desired spot and real it in, hoping to catch a fish in the process.
Another way to catch fish is by using a bobber. When bobber fishing, you put live
bait or fake bait onto a hook and cast your line into spot where you are likely to
catch something. The bobber will keep the hook, and bait suspended in the water.

Fishing when the weather is warm can be very fun. It is also quite comfortable.
Most of the time, shorts and a T shirt is all one needs to wear in summer. Even
fishing at night, in the summer months, is warm. A glorious thing about going
fishing when it s warm is that if it gets too hot, there is always the opportunity of
jumping in the water to cool off. Ice fishing is done in the colder months of the
year when all the lakes and rivers are frozen over. Ice fishing is done by drilling, or
chiseling your way through ice until you reach water. Once water is reached, you
drop a desired bait down the hole and wait. Hopefully you pick a good spot,
because when ice fishing, every time you want to move spots the same process has
to be repeated. It can be quite the hassle, drilling through ice, especially when there
is a lot of it. There is a perk however, when ice fishing, it is legal to have two lines
down instead of the usual one line, during open water/summer

Freedom Of Information, Opinion And Expression
12 Years A Slave and Hunger two are films by highly acclaimed director Steve
McQueen. 12 years a Slave deals with the inequality and injustice that shook the
African American Nation before the civil war. The film forces viewers to face the
harsh reality of slavery while also being an unflinching look at human brutality and is
an incredibly vivid and authentic portrayal of American slavery. His other film,
Hunger, deals with the political injustice and unfairness experienced by the Northern
Ireland republican prisoners, who were refused to be labelled as political prisoners;
including the lengths that they were willing to go to in order to receive justice and
freedom of information, opinion and expression. The two films have a common
theme of facing and overcoming injustice and inequality, which can be seen as a
reflection on McQueen s values and highlight the experiences and unjust and often
unfair lifestyle that McQueen experienced while growing up and becoming the artist
he is today.
McQueens first full length feature film, Hunger, begins with a prison officer,
Raymon Lohan, starting to begin his journey to work. The audience is shown
glimpses into his every day routines, including washing his bloody knuckles, having
a cigarette and searching the underside of his car for possible bombs. Through these

Company s Bottom Line Of Divesting Aol
Executive Summary
The purpose of this research paper is to examine the impact to the company s bottom
line of divesting AOL from Time Warner and of selling the AOL Europe holdings.
The conversant Time Warner merged with AOL in 2001. This produced a loss in
value to both entities. Since the merger, Time Warnerhas looked at ways to either
increase its overall revenue through divesting units or portions of the conglomerate
by acquiring other companies to help increase earnings potential. This paper looks at
the impact to Time Warner if it divests its AOLunit and also what would be the best
way to proceed with selling its AOL Europe holdings. This paper will take a historic
perspective on memo 8 and memo 10 on this case study.
INTRODUCTION
Internet pioneer America Online purchased Time Warner in January 2000 for $165
billion. This merger would become the biggest in history. At the time, Time Warner
was considered to be the largest traditional media company, so the merger was to
serve as an indication that timeworn and new media were in the beginning stages of
convergence. The AOL/Time Warner merger involved a vertical combination of the
biggest Internet content provider with a hefty cable system operator, which offered a
channel through which broad band subscribers could have access to Internet content
at high speeds. AOL had nearly 30 million subscribers worldwide and they would be
positioned to attain access to Time Warner s information and entertainment territory.

Bullying In The Middle And High School
Bullying American society is made up of many different backgrounds and beliefs.
Fortunately, freedom of speech allows us the opportunity to openly discuss our
opinions. This can also create debate over social issues, or conflicts that affect
numerous amounts of people within the society. Some issues in this society include
bullyingand having security systems in schools. Bullying has been a problem for
teens in middle and high school. Many teens deal with harassment, stalking, bullies,
and abuse. This causes the victims to harm themselves and these actions should not
be done for a temporary problem. Teens already have a lot on their plate so schools
should do more about bullying. Many kids have committed bullycide, suicide
caused by being bullied, and there should be more laws to prevent this. Amanda

She self harmed, abused drugs and alcohol to silence the pain she suffered from.
No matter where she went her past always followed. This caused a group of
classmates to beat her up. Amanda tried to drink bleach but did not die. Months
later, she took her own life ( The Amanda Todd Story ). Another 15 year old from
Oregon killed himself because no one accepted him for being gay. His suicide
raised national profile on youth bullying and gay victimization. He was intensely
bullied online and in person, his father said He was hurting so bad... Yeah there
were other issues but ultimately it was all due to the bullying, for not being
accepted for being gay (Reporter). His name was Jadin Bell. There are so many
stories of teens who kill themselves due to all the bullying they receive. Schools used

Socrates And Machiavelli
Socrates, in his early works, maintained a steadfast distance from involvement in
politics, making a comparison or evaluation of a political system in his persona
technically impossible.
To claim that Socrates would or would not be supportive of any political system
might then seem irresponsible, a presumptuous analysis not fitting for an academic
recognizing the false equivalence between Socrates philosophy and Machiavelli s
political ethics. The strategy to conduct any sort of liable and valid analysis is not to
wholly ignore the political part of the system but to evaluate the ethics behind the
systems. The goal of this essay will be to compare and evaluate the Machiavellian
ideological government, through the lens of Socratic ... Show more content on

If humans are always and will always act selfishly, it is possible to deduce a large
scale societal response to any given action or context within a certain margin of
error. However, the entire theory dissolves if indeed people do not act in this
predicted manner, concerned only for themselves. Machiavelli s prince , a tangible
representation of the leader and power behind a given political system, is duplicitous,
troubled with appearances and survival above all else.
Machiavelli argued, through his most notable work The Prince, that is most
advantageous for a ruler to maintain appearances of compassion, but act rational and
merciless. One of the core principles he repeated several times throughout his book
was that although it be best to have both, leaders should value the fear of their
subjects over their love. But a ruler had better be careful to not overdo it so as to not
create resentment since men cannot be trusted to be loyal through affection: [i]n
general men are ungrateful, fickle, false, cowardly, covetous, dissimulating, hungry
for profit and quick to evade danger (The Prince, 17.4)1. The general populace was
much less likely to conspire against those that they feared than those that they

Descartes Discourse Method
Descartes, A discourse on the method, 1637 coincides with the authors argument the
although Descartes was taught at the best school in England he left without feeling
intellectually accomplished, that he instead had doubts which reviled to him how
ignorant he was. That Descartes believing he was ignorant in order to gain knowledge
created a method that could establish absolute truthif only for himself as although he
can try to show others what he believes they have to come to an agreement with it in
order to internalize it. In this method Descartes would disregard his senses and use
logic.
Descartes decided that he would not accept everything he was told to be true nor
would he trust what he perceived to be true because he, like everyone else,
The Problem Of Smoking
The smoking problem has become quite prevalent in our society. Several governments
have had problems dealing with a huge health care burden due to diseases and
conditions brought about by smoking. At the same time, individuals suffer several
addictive and health issues due to smoking. While this information may be apparent
to most of the smokers, studies have found that quitting a smokinghabit is quite a
challenge. The reason behind such challenge is attributed to Nicotine. Nicotine is an
addictive substance naturally occurring in Tobacco. Nicotine, just like any other
addictive substance creates a new feeling to the user. It creates feeling associated with
drug such as cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. It gives the users the perception
that they are managing feelings of depression, anxiety, fear and loneliness. However,
just as other drugs, the additive extent of nicotine is quite wide. Nicotine users tend to
develop a high physical dependence on nicotine to a point that normal physical
functionality is inhibited without smoking. Either, emotional and mental dependence
on nicotine is expected and in the end, a nicotine user becomes fully hinged to
smoking. Therefore, an attempt to stop quit is usually a difficult undertaking due to
the emotional, mental and physical attachment to the nicotine. This paper will
provide a step by step process that would assist a smoker to quit.
Step I: Decision
The first step in quitting smoking is by making a vital decision that there

Example Of Computer Assisted Assessment
Computer Assisted assessment (CAA) is a common term for the use of computers in
the assessment of student learning. Various other forms exist, such as Computer
Aided Assessment, computerized assessment, Computer Based assessment (CBA)
and computer based testing. Online Computer Based Assessment has existed for a
long time in the form of Multiple ChoiceQuestions (MCQ s). Computer Based
Assessment is commonly directly made via a computer, whereas Computer Assisted
Assessment is used to manage or support the assessment process. Examples are the
optical mark reader used to score MCQs and database programs used to record
student marks. Computer Assisted Assessment is typically formative, in that it helps
students to discover whether they have learned what the educator intended and

Essay about Strategic Analysis of Ford Motors Company
Company Profile
Ford Motor Company was founded in 1903 by automotive and industrial pioneer
Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan. Being first to implement a moving assembly line
for automotive manufacturing, Ford was able to more efficiently mass produce their
products than their competitors. In 1908 the Model T was introduced and went on to
sell over 15 million vehicles, firmly establishing Ford as the major player in the early
automotive industry with 50% market share by the 1920s. The company went public
1956 and since then has grown to be a significant presence in the global automotive
market.

Prior to the economic crisis of 2007, Ford has become one of the most globalized
of the automakers with research and design facilities as well as manufacturers and
marketing operations around the world (Albaum et al, 2004;p).With its advantages
in low costing, high volume, and availability of parts for service, it was able to
rapidly expand its market (Leontiades 2000; p22 23).
External Environment Challenges
Economic Environment
Doole and Lowe (2008) emphasizes how important it is for Global managers to
understand the economic development in countries where it wants to expand to and
how they impact on the overall strategy of the Firm (Doole Lowe, 2008;pp 12 13).
This knowledge is important at a world level in terms of the world trading
infrastructure such as world institutions and trade agreements developed to foster
international trade, at a regional level in terms of regional trade integration and at a
country/market level (Doole Lowe, 2008; pp 12 13).
b) Technological Challenges
A peculiar trend which was prevalent in the last decade, besides globalization, was a
limited number of producers which emerged due to diversity among products and
uniformity across national markets (Agarwal, 2004). Amid global conditions that
amount to an economic and industry crisis, the world s auto makers still consider
innovation and technology to be the most important trend over the next five years.

Stanfield Ms. Edwards General Paper 23 January 2017 Nurses and Nurse Practitioners and their Impact The idea of nursing actually pre dates the 19th century, but the first professional nurse is Florence Nightingale. Traditionally, only sick people with families could get the level of care needed, but Nightingale realized the mistake in that assumption. If one didn t have a family they couldn t get the correct level of care. During the Crimean War, Nightingale helped clean the soldier s wounds, provide wholesome food, and generally keep the wounded tent clean. This drastically reduced the amount of casualties and thus the idea of professional nurses was born. A few years down the road, physicians gave nurses a more in depth education ... Throughout history, there have been many female leaders who had significant achievements, and in some cases, have surpassed their male counterparts. Catherine de Medici and Nur Jahan are two perfect examples of accomplished female leaders during the Renaissance, on opposite sides of the world; one in Europe and one in Asia. Despite their vastly different locations, they were remarkably similar people. Catherine de Medici reigned as both Queen of France and Regent of France during her political life. Likewise, Nur Jahan reigned as empress of the Mughal Empire only fifteen or so years later.5 Both women held high positions of power, which was quite unconventional at the time. My Design Of Sighting A Gun I.The purpose for my design is to speed up the process of sighting a gun in, the scope to take into compensate the parabolic launch of a bullet, and to hit to target bulls eye. Sighting in a gun requires a long trial and error process that any hunter, marine, or police sniper would agree upon. As a bullet is fired from a rifle it rises a few inches for about one hundred yards or more where it descends below the axis of the barrel. The scope looks like any other scope but will account for the parabolic launch and relocate its self to the correct position for the most accurate shot. Nikon is a company that produces quality scopes and would be a good contestant for the idea. They support their products being brighter, clearer, precise, and rugged, but these are just a few of the attributes knowledgeable hunters commonly use to describe Nikon riflescopes. Nikon is determined to bring hunters, shooters, and sportsmen a wide selection of the best huntingoptics money can buy while at the same time pushing the envelope to create revolutionary capabilities for the serious hunter (Nikon). The design would also need an electrical engineer to design the wiring and microchips /sensors, but a mechanical engineer from Power Electrics would also be needed to fit the motor for the positioning of the scope. I would like to arrange a meeting for all of us to discuss and perfect the idea. II.The scope, Buck Slayer by Slade Mills and Nikon, will be about the same size as any other

Sublime In Romantic Poetry Romantic Poetry Introduction Romantic poetry tends to embrace certain particular themes, and one of the main themes found in romantic poetry is the sublime (addressing male themes of reason, strength, and fortitude ); another main theme is the feminine, which tends to represent beauty and domesticity. This paper explores the theme of the sublime, which has been employed effectively and creatively by both male and female poets. The Sublime in Romantic Poetry Scholars know that not all worthy romantic poetry has been created by males, writes Christopher John Murray in his book the Encyclopedia of the Romantic Era, 1760 1850. And although the most well known romantic poets happen to be British males like Coleridge and Wordsworth, for example there were notable female poets who also used the sublime (also referred to as masculine ) theme and who were brilliant at their artistry albeit in the shadows of the male poets who got more attention. One of those female poets of note was Helen Maria Williams (1761 1827). She wrote poetry from the romantic genre about the horrors of the slave trade, she wrote about the Spanish colonialism in native people in South America, and she wrote about the French Revolution. In fact Napoleon had her arrested in 1802 for her poem Ode on the Peace of Amiens. Her poem, A Song, embraces the sublime / masculine theme. These are four different aspects of the human condition that people, as well as myself personally, see as the things that make us human. The intended audience for my task is possibly more educated people who understand the significance of these things as well as other people wanting to learn about the roles things play on our social perception of humanity. By not not been understood I mean that Neurologists may be able to show you the areas activated in the brain by sadness and a psychologist may be able to discuss what things make as sad and why it does specific to certain kinds of people but none of these of these people can explain why it is that we cry. In the movie specifically, it was centered around the rise of the Mafia in Chicago. By looking at the production of the movie, we can see how during prohibition, the Mafia controls everything and the violence ultimately it leads to. We can hear a dark, opera type singing at the part when he is beat. When one hears this type of music being played in certain scenes, it shows a person s dark side and gives the impression that one is ultimately the bad guy in the movie. Demonstrating violence is one of the most important factors in the film. An important part of the film that shows this, is when Elliott Ness is trying to catch the bookkeeper at the train station. It then turns into a shootout scene between the Mob and Ness. In this scene, at the beginning, slow motion was used to help convey the violence that was happening. When things are in slow motion, it helps to bring about the detail and gore that is unfolding before our eyes. After this, the shooting unfolds, and the slow motion stops. Next, it was filmed with a wide screen which was effective for showing intricate movements, like this shoot out scene. Throughout this part, quick cuts were used to conveys that things are out of control and this brings out the intensity of the violence. All these techniques help show the violence that played out because of prohibition. Despite the violence that plays out in the film, there is still a sense of bravery and heroism. For centuries, prophets have walked there, nations have collided and conquerors have come and gone. While Jews claim a three thousand year old attachment to this ancient land, Arabs also stake their devotion. In 1993, these two peoples, involved in a tragic conflict that has lasted more than half a century, saw the possibility of a new beginning. At its head was Yitzhak Rabin, former military chief of staff. His move from the battlefield to the negotiation table was a historical moment in the life of Israel. Madrid had failed because Israeli and United States delegates refused to deal with the PLO. But Rabin and foreign minister Peres, unlike their predecessors, were willing to pursue new avenues for peace. The way was now paved for one of the most intriguing diplomatic accords of recent years, the Oslo Agreement. It was now clear that direct dialogue was needed between the PLO and Israel. (Peres, p. 12) Secret talks were arranged between the two sides in Norway starting in January 1993. However, one key matter held up the talks, that being the Israeli ban on contact with the PLO. When the Israeli Knesset repealed this, the way to Oslo was open. Talks took place between January and May of 1993. As talks continued, complications arose, notably Israel s insistence that it retain control of West Bank security. However, as trust grew, both sides compromised as they moved towards reconciliation and mutual recognition. After eight months of negotiations, an agreement of principles was signed secretly in Oslo. The declaration of principles bound Israel and the Palestinians to a five year interim agreement. Power over Gaza and Jericho would be transferred to the Palestinians, economic programs

  • 28. Analysis Of The Poem The House Of Asterion The House of Asterion is a marvel. The concepts, writing style, and use of literary devices all pay tribute to Jorge Borges s skill as a writer. The House of Asterion has many points that prompt an in depth literary discussion. At first glance at this written work, the reader may see some obvious themes. The story is basically a different perspective on the Minotaur myth, it explores the extreme loneliness the main character, Asterion, feels, and it challenges common roles of good against evil. The different perspective is perhaps the most prominent theme readers see in the story. Additionally, the very real loneliness and boredom Asterion experiences, and the path he seemingly chooses towards the end of the story, shows an almost human aspect to an otherwise mindless monster; this would most certainly also attract a reader s attention. And finally the theme of roles being switched from traditional places would perhaps catch the attention of a majority of readers. However, there is one more theme that is quite awe inspiring but rarely considered. That of the labyrinthin The House of Asterion being the center of the universe, and at its center, the Minotaur. It is said by many that perhaps Asterion is dreaming. That his world is the labyrinth and he is the center of it. This will be explored with the examining the literary devices Jorge Borges uses, other written works he has used this concept in, and his own personal accounts. The labyrinth is the universe with

Another problem for McDonalds is that more and more people are looking for healthier requirements from their meals. The American society is beginning to become more health conscious about what they ingest into their bodies, which makes many opt out of eating at McDonalds. Consumers are requiring cleaner and fresher looking restaurants and food service for their money and people are willing to pay a couple dollars more for a better dining experience... said Mitchell Speiser, analyst at Leman Brothers. Regarding subsidies, the Australian government applies rates on several ambits, like home care, oxygen and enteral feeding or residential respite and this is only about healthcare. To be honest, Australia has a balanced taxing system, with rates that are internationally lower than other countries rates; besides, there exists a real need for a tax system for the government to have enough resources to ensure a decent lifestyle for its citizens and to provide them with the basic human needs. Leaving aside rates like those meant to regulate industries like the automotive one, it seems that Australia has a fair economic system, not meant for crippling the citizen s economy, but rather to ensure that all the people s resources paid in the form in taxes contribute to the general wellbeing. Who do you think are the winners / losers from such protectionist measures? Ultimately, the citizens are the most benefited or prejudiced by these taxes and subsidies. As it has been said before, Australia s rates and tariffs are significantly lower when compared to those that other countries apply; and the income that results from these said payments should be applied on new infrastructure, on attending the people s needs, and on ensuring that unforeseen disasters will be properly faced and answered. This is the ideal system of taxing and applying tariffs: for the country s money to serve the country s needs. Still, applying additional taxes to industries or

There are three main levels of health promotion. The first level is primary prevention which involves taking measures to prevent illnesses from occurring, this may include proper dieting, physical activity, managing stress, and avoiding harmful activities and habits (Giddens, 2013, p. 407). According to Pryce (2016), shift workers often eat unhealthy, lack an appropriate amount of exercise, and smoke cigarettes. Nurses who perform shift work may successfully achieve primary prevention by packing healthy snacks for work, walking the floor or stairs during their break, and avoiding caffeine and tobacco smoking.
