Marriage between lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders (LGBT) is referred
to as same sex marriage. It occurs when men and women are attracted to someone
of the same gender of themselves. However, some people denied the idea of it since
they believe it is going against the law of nature and violating certain beliefs and
traditions. LGBT people have faced injustice and discrimination and have been
fighting for their rights for decades to overcome prejudice against them which they
have finally received in 2015.
LGBT individuals has remained largely silent and unseen in American culture until
World War II ended. Many of them hid their unusual sexual orientation from the
society out of shame and fear. Gays who lived in cities often formed close social
networks with other gays while remaining a hidden subculture. During the 1940s
and 1950s, LGBT Americans earned many freedoms they had not previously
received. Their presence became more free flowing but still not widely accepted. In
the middle of 1950s, discrimination against LGBT individuals started to expand,
they have been kicked out of their jobs because of their sexual orientation.
Moreover, the homosexual lifestyle was considered as a threat to American security
in the 1960s as gay and lesbian were being harassed or raided at that time. However,
it was the turning point for the LGBT community in 1969 when the Stonewall riots

social policy in the UK. I will also be arguing that despite the United Kingdom
being a democratic society, it is falling below democratic standards. At present,
social media is one of the most powerful tools in shaping people s perceptions on

Each of the leadership styles described in this week s reading demonstrated unique
qualities that would be beneficial when dealing with specific situations and social
groups. Below, I outlined the three significant differences I observed in the text, and
gave examples of how the differences connected to my own professional life.
Difference #1: Intellectual leadership is a style prompted by the demand for change,
which is rooted in creative problem solving. Burns states that the life of an
intellectual leader is inherently conflict ridden (p.143). This type of leader must be
willing to confront what is favorable and instead pursue what is truly the best option,
by dealing with both analytical and normative ideas (Bruns, 1975, p.142) The text
also suggests that an unique component of this style is that the philosophies had few
illusions about man as he was;they had high hopes about man as he could be. (Burns,
1975, p. 143). Application of this principal is demonstrated when administrators
actively participate in the development and implementation of initiative that will
improve student learning/retention. Depending on what side of the camp you are on,
standards based instruction can be seen as the high hope of what education could be.
It is important to note that it is challenging for a single individual to act as intellectual
leader, because the development of ideas requires a structure for discourse (Burns,

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder affecting the body s ability to take up
glucose into the tissues. There are two main classifications; Type 1 is known as
insulin dependent, meaning that the patient s body no longer produces insulin to help
