The Invention Of Tradition By Eric Hobsbawm And Terence...
Tradition is an integral and powerful aspect of life for everyone on the planet. From the rainforests of
Madagascar to the bustling metropolis of New York City, cultural, religious, and social traditions are
engrained in the very fiber of human identity. Due to this fierce loyalty to one s traditions, we as
people, don t often question where are traditions came from. We ignore the questions about their ethics
and moral values, and turn a blind eye to traditions that just don t necessarily make sense. The
Invention of Tradition by Eric Hobsbawm and Terence Ranger delves into this avoided facet of history
how traditions become what they are to society. The cultural life of Wales in the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries provides a striking parallel to the mindset of a large demographic of American
citizens today. The conservative, nationalist peoples of the United States is a group full of paradox.
They feel their history and culture of life being slowly stripped away, so they fanatically hold onto
their beliefs with untamed ferocity. On the one hand the decay or demise of an ancient way of life,
writes Prys Morgan, on the other an unprecedented outburst of interest in things Welsh and a highly
self conscious activity to preserve...them (Morgan, 43). The United States has seen this phenomenon
unfold in front of their eyes this year, with the reemergence of a faction of people whom feel
forgotten, searching for their past amongst political and social rubble. With the 2016

Lois Lowry s The Giver
Everything a writer experiences as a young person goes into the later writing in some form (Albert 9).
Lois Lowry is a Newbery medal children s author. She has written numerous novels, but the one that
stood out the most would be The Giver. As Lowry began to write The Giver she took her emotions,
memories and personal stories to write about this book. She makes the setting of the story in the future
where all the people have no memory and no free will. Also, every time something fearful happens in
her life, she never lets it get in the way. Instead, fear makes her a stronger person and forces her to get
the job done. Lois Lowry has been collecting her memories and life events from the past and uses
them to create her stories for The Giver.
Lois Lowry is a novelist who was born in Oahu, Hawaii on March 20, 1937. Lois Lowry grew up in a
home with books because of her mother, so Lois was influenced by her family and became interested
in reading at an early age. She decided that she wanted to become a writer at age nine. Lois has grown
up in several places. To start with, she moved to New York where she began elementary school. Then,
when the war started, her father a dentist and Army Officer went overseas while she went back to
Pennsylvania. After she finished elementary school she moved to Tokyo to spend time with her father.
When she lived in Tokyo she attended Meguro school where most of the students with military
families went. After she moved back to the USA.

Cleveland Sports Research Paper
David Petrus always told his family that there are 3 things that will guarantee happiness in life; Faith,

why Cleveland sports are the way they are today. Many sports cities cultural backgrounds revolve
around their sports team but Cleveland is the best sports city because of the money the city generates,
the love of the fans, and the history of cleveland sports.

Economic Policies And Economic Policy
In every country there s a government and economy. Each counties government helps or tries to help
recover, stabilize, and grow the economy. First thing we need to look at is economic policy. Economic
policy refer to actions the government makes in the economic field. For example the taxation, the
government supply, money supply, interest rates, along with the labor market, and national ownership.
Inside the economic policy you will find all sorts of things that help make the policy stand on it s two
feet. The three main parts that tie into economic policy are supply side economics, demand side
economics, and monetary policy. Each of the three economic structures will also help define and show
what all the economic policy is and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now as we can see supply side has a demand for small government and less of a tax policy. Both of
which as seen in the political views of things. So to add on to what supply side economics is you also
need to remember that politics has role. Supply side economics has a little bit of a background when
you look into it. Based upon the three pillars and what each one deals with you can see that you can
not take away the political side of it because it would then demand a smaller role for the government
and a less tax policy.
So the next branch of the economic policy would be demand side. Demand side economics relates to
an economic theory that defends the use of government spending and growth in the money supply to
prompt the demand for goods and services, thus leading to the expand of economic activity. With
demand side economics there is a theory that some believe will work. Demand side economist support
government spending to the fullest. They do so because they think it will overcome the short term low
aggregates demand. Raising the market s aggregate demand will reduce unemployment and encourage
economic activity, according to this theory. By spending the government increases demand on

Leukocytes Research Paper
Leukocytes have a nucleus, do not contain haemoglobin and are much larger that erythrocytes. They
either have a spherical or an irregular shape and have important roles in the immune response. There
are two basic types of leukocytes, granulocytes which have a granular cytoplasm and a lobed nuclei
and agranulocytes which have a cytoplasm that has no granules making it appear smooth and they
have a rounded or horseshoe shaped nucleus. Granulocytes can be subdivided into neutrophils,
eosinophils, and basophils and agranulocytes can be subdivided into monocytes and lymphocytes
(Bethesda, 2005).
Neutrophils are polymorphonuclear cells, meaning they have a nucleus which is complex and
lobulated. They have three types of granules in their cytoplasm, gelatinase granules, azurophilic
granules and specific granules. The gelatinase granules aid neutrophils in the process of exiting the
bloodstream and help them to relocate to get to an infection site. The azurophilic and specific granules
give neutrophils the ability to kill microbes and they contain antimicrobial ... Show more content on

There are three different types, T cells, B cells and natural killer cells. T cells are generated in the
thymus gland and have a T cell receptor molecule that is specialised and is found on the cells surface.
T cells bind to antigens after it identifies them. The next type, B cells develop in the bone marrow and
they have a B cell receptor. This is a protein that is specialised, like T cells it is means B cells are able
to attach to specific antigens that they identify. Both T cells and B cells have binding sites that are
highly specific, this enable them to identify antigens that have invaded the body and stick to them,
Lastly, natural killer cells have a cytotoxic nature which means they can destroy cells. Also, they have
the ability to identify cells that have been infected by a virus and destroy them (Arrington,

The middle east has always been a hot zone for religious and political conflict but more specifically,
Iran. Iran is an Islamic state where Islam is practiced within politics. The Constitution of 1979 runs off
of the basis of Islamic Law. The population of Iran varies upon resources but they are all around the
number of seventy million people. The country is 90 percent Shia Muslim and eight percent Sunni
Muslim.1 The rest of the country is made up of very small minority religions. The minority religions

The Islamic Republic of Iran has a three branch government: Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary.
The Executive branch is headed by the president who is the second most powerful government
official. The president is elected by a national majority vote and is limited to two four year terms,
similar to the United States president. The Assembly of Experts evaluate the leader s actions and meet
with him annually to discuss his performance. The president can also be impeached by two thirds vote
of the Majlis, or parliament.6 The Supreme Leader is the commander in chief of the military. He
appoints all commanders in the armed forces. The Supreme Leader also appoints the head of the
judicial branch, sets state policy, declares war, and starts amendments and sees over them. The
President must be, according to the Constitution, a Shia Muslim. The president selects many vice
presidents and 21 ministers who make up his cabinet. How the president and the leader separate power
has changed with the leaders in control. When Rafsanjani was in office through the 1990 s he made
himself the law and left little room for the president to use his power.7 The legislative branch has a
Majlis and the Guardians Council. The Majlis is a board of 290 deputies and they serve a four year
terms and are elected by the people. Seeing as the majority is Shia Muslims, five seats are reserved for
special religious minorities.

Economic Impact Of American Fast Food Upon Developing...
Economic Impacts of American Fast Food upon Developing Countries
Amanda Lee
Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts
Introduction
Developments leading up to the 21st century are best characterized by the economic advancements
found in countries all over the world. Regardless of the level of these advancements in a country,
achieving higher living standards, financial stability, and overall growth of the economy are the
perpetual goals for a country. Because every country is unique in terms of their economic, political,
and social standings, different methods in order to obtain these goals are to be considered. However,
the basic principles for achieving these goals seem to follow the trends of globalization: investment,
technological improvements, secure institutions, and a market economy. Countries that benefit the
most from globalization are found to be of high growth. The integration of a global economy in a
country has prompted entrepreneurs to regard the world as one market in the form of franchising. With
that being said, economic success can measure the effects of Western commercial globalization from
the results of American fast food franchise. Innovations in technology and society have eradicated the
difficulties with communication between different populations. This transition from communal living
standards to the interdependence of economies throughout the world will later be known as economic
globalization

Unlocking Youth Detention
Education and Training Key to Unlocking Youth Detention Crisis
Australia s juvenile detention system is breaking apart. It s time we started seeing our wayward youth
as young people needing support and rehabilitation rather than merely callous criminals to be
punitively punished, degraded and demeaned writes Anna Tran.
A child is beaten and bashed, bruised and battered to the point where he can no longer stand on his
own. It gets worse, much worse. He is teargassed and stripped, hooded and strapped into a restraining
chair. The scene could come straight out of Abu Ghraib Prison or Guantanamo Bay; in fact it comes
out of our very own youth detention centres on Australian soil.
The world was shocked and Australians shamed when scenes like these were recently broadcast from
the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre in Darwin. Young Australians, under the care of the State, have
been systematically abused, demeaned and degraded in the very institutions built to re educate and
rehabilitate so that they will not reoffend. It s time we took responsibility for our young offenders and
provided them with the knowledge and positive life skills to make it on the outside.

Cant Hardly Wait Compared To The Canterbury Tales
Canterbury Tales Compare/Contrast Essay
Satire as described by the Webster dictionary is a way of using humor to show the weaknesses or bad
qualities of a person, government, society, etc. One of the first examples of satirical English writing
was Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales. The Canterbury Tales revolve around an eclectic group
of pilgrims on a religious journey to St. Thomas Beckett s shrine . The true intent of this classic tale
was to expose all of 14th century England to the corruptness of the cast system in London. Chaucer
executed his purpose by including characters of various statures into his story and discreetly
criticizing them by using humor. In doing so he also criticized the morals of aristocracy at that time.
Centuries later Chaucer s interpretation of society continues to be used in literature and other forms of
art today. Can t Hardly Wait is an example of a film that embodies Chaucer s ideas. This cheesy 1990s
classic romance is set at a high school graduation party. The main plot of a boy trying to get his dream
girl is simply an unimportant factor compared to screenwriter Deborah Kaplan s true purpose: ... Show

power. The attire of the Knight proved that he not only worked hard but also lived modestly. Although
he was wealthy, his cloaks did not readily support that fact, for He wore a fustian tunic stained and

The symbolic Use of Color in Beloved
In the novel, Beloved, Toni Morrison uses color to show the reactions of some of the main characters.
Color represents many things in the book. Freedom is an example because once the slaves were free,
they noticed the beautiful colors all over. They see that the world is not just black and white and two
different races, there are many beautiful things that were unnoticed. When Baby Suggs was free, she
was able to spread happiness and joy to the community. When the community did not accept that, she

room. The orange patches were very vibrant in the room; it was the only color that Baby Suggs
noticed. Bright, vibrant colors are what made Baby Suggs s last days of her free life so memorable.
Paul D. was just starting his new freedom. His journey to the North from the South provided him with
the most important experience of his life. He hid and received advice from many helpers. He was told
by Cherokees to follow the tree flowers (119) to get to the North. Flowers are known to be beautiful

The Freedom Of Speech And Worship Essay
During the Second World War, there was a change in equality within the United States of America.
These changes did not take place until after Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote a famous speech that closely
looked at the essential freedoms and rights of each person in the world, the Four Freedoms. Freedom
of speech and worship, along with freedom from want and fear, were the topics of this great speech.
People compared Roosevelt s speech to some of the other more influential and well known
proclamations known during that era: including the Emancipation Proclamation, the Magna Carta, and
even the Ten Commandments. The power and confidence this address held spread beyond the United
States just as Roosevelt hoped, giving other nations an example of what could be if there was peace.
The Four Freedoms speech became a universal proclamation that granted and encouraged freedom
everywhere, even while denying those same human rights to American citizens.
Freedom of speech and worship are two rights in which most people are accustomed to. As they are
laid out in the first amendment of the Constitution, any citizen has the right to speak their mind and
worship how they would like. Freedom from want describes the desire to be economically secure in
every nation which was an important factor coming out the Great Depression. The last essential right
is the freedom of fear, in which one can live their life without fear of violence or hatred against them.

Argumentative Essay On Multiple Disabilities
Disability
Everyone desires to live a normal life, without others examining them differently for a disability that
they cannot control. Many disabled people are experiencing completely normal lives, when several
others are not functioning normal because of a physical or mental disease. People in our world,
including the media, do not seem to focus on the disabled people who are living a normal life and are
properly functioning. They would rather keep attention on the ones who are stuck in a wheelchair for
the rest of their life, and believe that their life is nearly over. Whether someone is disabled or not, they
all have the same potential in life, and can all achieve the same goals as someone who is healthy.
Mairs, Anaya, and my cousin, Tyler, prove that even though people do look at others differently
because of a disability, everyone can still live a normal life.
Nancy Mairs is a woman who lived with an incurable disease known as Multiple Sclerosis, however,
with the assistance of a cane and wheelchair, she was functioning her life almost identically to she was
before. In Mairs essay Disability, she described how she has been examining the media to find similar
representations of herself. Mairs found only one example of a woman with Multiple Sclerosis on
television, which the main focus of that individual was on how terrible their life was, and how they
have no hope to live a normal life. Mairs views this representation as a problem, and believes that
physical disability looms pretty large in one s life. But it doesn t devour one wholly (Mairs 13). Mairs
continues to explain how she was fairly similar to all the women her age, and how she engaged in the
same activities women her age do. Nancy Mairs is a perfect example of a woman who was continuing
to live her life normally, even with the drawback of a severe disease.
In the essay Mental Illness on Television, Rosie Anaya extended off of Mairs opinions on the media
and how they portray the disabled. Anaya pointed out that Mairs essay was released in the year 1987,
and since then there has been a widely noticeable acceptance of disabled people within the media.
Nowadays, we observe physically disabled people in a wide variety of media, from

Figurative Language In The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Often times, nature is perceived in many different ways. This can be as a result of people having their
own opinions and knowledge. The Romantic era was an intellectual movement that lasted from about
1800 1850. Romantic poets believed that nature is beautiful and controls fate. The Romantics often
used figurative language to describe and give nature traits. The poems Rime of the Ancient Mariner by
Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Ode to the West Wind by Percy Bysshe Shelley are examples of
Romantic poems. In the poems, each author reflected their visions of nature. These poems reflected
their visions of nature as dangerous, powerful, and divine. They reflected their visions of nature by
using symbolism and other forms of figurative language. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

symbolic of its power. Another example that reflects nature is: And we did speak only to break the
silence of the sea! (109 110 Coleridge). The previous quote reflects their visions of nature by putting
emphasis on the silence of the sea which may represent the serenity of nature. The quote also shows
how if we speak we would disrupt the balance of nature. Coleridge also used rhyme scheme to get a
point across as can be seen in: The ice was here, the ice was there, the ice was all around, It cracked

words roared and growled to describe how the nature of the ice around them is dangerous and hostile.

Analysis Of The Poem Poor North By Mark Strand
Mark Strand s poem, Poor North depicts the life of a married couple facing countless struggles during
a harsh winter. It tells of a man working in an unsuccessful store while his wife sits at home, wishing
for her old life back. The way the wife copes with her sadness is both intriguing and perplexing. She
misses her old life, even though it is described to have not been special; however, the wife may be a
person who never feels satisfied or fulfilled by the external world due to internal conflict. Despite the
wife s obvious misery, she stays by her husband s side and they stroll in the cold together, bracing the
wind. As a means of escape from life, she peers into her past in order to find hope in the present.
The title of the poem implies that the home of characters is not a place where anyone would want to
spend their life. When the north is described as the poor north, in both the title and at the end of the
first stanza, it makes it seem as though it is an established fact, recognized by anyone who has visited
or lived there. The description is solidified when the speaker says, nothing goes right in the poor north
(5). A bad experience must have occurred in order for the speaker to feel negatively about the setting
of the poem; otherwise, there would be no need for strong language to describe it. The speaker is
external, almost as though they are watching the events unfold from a distance, as if they were looking
through a window into someone else s life.

The Impact Of Ansel Adams On The Conservation Movement
Assess the impact of Ansel Adams as an influential figure in the conservation movement Intro
America s National Parks are deeply indebted to the American photographer Ansel Adams. Through
his masterful photography, he turned Yosemite National Park into an American icon. Ansel spent the
majority of his life fighting for the National Parks through intense political activism. He was a key
figure in conservation in the United States, beginning in a time when environmental conservation was
a rare concept.
From a young age he showed uncommon interest in wilderness and the outdoors and grew into one of
the personalities most responsible for defining what American wilderness means. In his twenties,
Ansel demonstrated incredible mastery of the young art form of photography. Through his friendships

The Permeability Of Membrane Permeability
Ability of cell membrane transport of membrane permeability, diffusion ,osmosis and membrane
voltages
Introduction
Cell membranes are boundaries of the cell, it controls all the interaction between cells as well as
passage transport of the material we normally describe as membrane transport. Membrane transport
are very essential for all living things, however not all substance can transport in and out of
membranes and different ions can pass through membranes in different ways.
Membrane permeability is very important as to maintain the cell in a stable condition as we can also
describe as remain our cell a more homeostatic environment by control which substances could can go
through cells. Membranes are essential for control the concentration of particular ion, and establish the
concentration requires. We can observe those mechanisms of cell membrane from a considerable ATP
synthesis and solute transport through the plasma membranes. Gradients which cause those ions to
move cross the membranes are potential of cell .when a separation of charge occurred an electrical
potential occurred results with voltages can be measured in the cell.
Osmosis is the one of important transport for living cells.it allows water from one side to another. The
direction of osmosis are usually from high concentration of water to lower concentration. This is
because when the membrane has a high level on one side of membranes it could results as a pressure,
which is known as osmotic pressure.

* Populations of krill and other small organisms will decline as the ice recedes, with large
consequences for fish, whales and other marine mammals.
* Indigenous people who have lived in the frozen North for centuries will be most directly affected. *
5 * The thawing of the permafrost the frozen layer of soil and water just beneath the Earth s surface.
This will cause the terrain to subside and damage buildings, pipelines, roads and other infrastructure.
* The Polar Regions are key drivers of global weather patterns, and the changes caused by global
warming could cause these regions to magnify the greenhouse effect.
What can be done?
Unfortunately, Polar Regions are highly vulnerable to climate change, and their natural and human
systems have a low capacity for adapting. Indigenous communities with traditional life styles will
have only limited opportunities to respond to the expected changes. Technologically developed
communities, however, are likely to adapt their infrastructure and transport means to the new
conditions and take advantage of new trade and commercial opportunities.

An Analysis Of Don Mozart s Opera Buffa
In his opera buffa, Don Giovanni, Mozart depicts Don Giovanni as a libertine and philanderer. At the
start of Act I, Scene III of the opera, there is a festive peasant wedding, an ensemble between the
bride, Zerlina, the groom, Masetto, and the chorus, which consists of the other peasants, all singing
about the joys of marriage. Don Giovanni, a nobleman, and his manservant, Leporello, interrupts the
wedding, and invites everyone to his villa. He even forces Masetto to go the villa too, leaving Zerlina
alone with Don Giovanni. Before leaving, Masetto protests, but understands that he has no control
over the situation. Then, Masetto sings an aria, Ho Capito, which means I understand, before leaving.
Alone with Zerlina, in recitative, Don Giovanni tries to seduce her and promises to marry her. Shortly
after he sings that they will be married, an ensemble between Don Giovanni and Zerlina starts, in
which Zerlina reveals that she would be happy to marry him but fears that Don Giovanni is deceiving
her. The duet ends with Don Giovanni appearing to succeed with his scheme. Three versions of the
opera, the first conducted by Craig Smith and directed by Peter Sellars in Vienna in 1990, the second
conducted by Colin Davis and directed by John Vernon in the Royal Opera House in London in 1998,
and the third conducted by Nicholas Harnencourt and directed by Brian Large in the Zurich Opera

The Fourth Amendment, And California V. Greenwood
The Fourth Amendment to the Constitution states that people have the right to be secure in their
persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, but the issue at hand
here is whether this also applies to the searches of open fields and of objects in plain view and whether
the fourth amendment provides protection over these as well. In order to reaffirm the courts decision
on this matter I will be relating their decisions in the cases of Oliver v. United States (1984), and
California v. Greenwood (1988) which deal directly with the question of whether a person can have
reasonable expectations of privacy as provided for in the fourth amendment with regards to objects in
an open field or in plain view. The differentiation between open fields and private property must be
made before one can proceed to form an opinion regarding the constitutionality of a warrantless search
of an open field. Oliver v. United States is a case in which police officers, acting on reports from
neighbors that a patch of marijuana was being cultivated on the Oliver farm, entered on to private
property ignoring No Trespassing signs, and on to a secluded open portion of the Oliver property
without a warrant, discovered the marijuana patch and then arrested Oliver without an arrest warrant.
The Maine Judicial Court held that No Trespassing signs posted around the Oliver property evinced a
reasonable expectation of privacy, and therefore the court held that

A Short Note On Oklahoma Race Riots And The Black Wall Street

Tulsa Race Riots
On May 31 June 1, 1921, a series of actions occurred in Greenwood, a small district in the northern
parts of Tulsa, Oklahoma, which are now called the Tulsa race Riots.
Being a segregated city like the rest of Oklahoma, many of Tulsa s African American citizens resided
in Greenwood an area composed of predominately African American communities and business
locations. The discovery of oil is the number one reason why Tulsa s economy flourished. There was
an abundance of wealthy African Americans due to of this discovery. Because of the affluence and
success within the African American community going on in this one particular area, it became known
as the Black Wall Street.
The whole chain of events began on May 30, 1921 when Dick Rowland, a young black man, allegedly
assaulted a white elevator operator. Rowland was arrested the next day. However, outside the
courthouse a group of raging whites gathered to attempt to lynch Rowland while a group of African
Americans were protecting him to prevent the hanging. With the signal of one unintentional gunshot,
many others rang out leaving some from both groups dead. With word getting around town of the riot,
many angered whites stormed into the Greenwood District. Residencies were set on fire and many
businesses were looted and burned to the ground. Planes also flew by dropping bombs in the area.
With law enforcement on the whites side, the officers were also a part of the riot. The National Guard

Nationalism s Role In World War I
Nationalism is the strong belief that the interests of a particular nation state is of primary importance.
It also is the belief that a people who share a common language, history, and culture should have an

and World War II. It is shown in nationalists groups such as the KMT, through new ideas such as
Nazism or Fascism, and during events that happen during wars and revolutions, such as the Salt

We feel that it would have been easier to shop if all leggings styles were next to each other, all tank
top styles were next to each other, all sports bras next to each other, and so on. We found the same
exact pair of leggings on two different sides of the section. This could keep a customer from finding
an appropriate size, which could result in Target losing a sale. Thus, although the active wear section
itself was very easy to find, making shopability easy, the styles of clothing themselves were very
spread out making shopability difficult. Therefore, we believe Target deserves a grade of a three for
this topic, as it isn t terrible but definitely could be improved.

The Three Faces of Eve and dissociative identity disorder
Although dissociative identity disorder (formerly called multiple personality disorder) is extremely
rare and difficult to diagnose, it seems to be awfully popular with numerous Hollywood
interpretations. The Three Faces of Eve does a fairly admirable job of conveying the disorder even
though information defining the illness was (and still is) limited at the time the movie was made.
Eve White, Eve Black, and Jane, all played by Joanne Woodward, had distinct personalities. Eve
White was the quiet, submissive homemaker who loved her husband and adored her little girl. She had

This brings up the methodology used in the treatment of the patient. There are many possible
treatments that are available, including relaxation therapy, cognitive modification, drugs and sedatives,
and hypnotherapy. The later of these causes great debates among the psychological community and is
denounced by many, yet it is the therapy of choice in the film. Hypnosis, though used by so few
psychologists and psychiatrists, seems to be among the top used therapies in movies. Though the
process used in this particular film to place the patient in a hypnotic state seems to be more realistic
than those used in many other movies, it is still lacking. The process of placing oneself or another
person in a hypnotic state is a fairly intense procedure of relaxation.
Though, like the movie portrays, counting (backwards or forwards) is often used in hypnosis, it
frequently is preceded by a brief, calming story of sorts to clear the patient s head and place him/her in
a calm state of mind. There may be better, more efficient ways to treat a patient with dissociative
identity disorder, but the movie itself would not be nearly as exciting or intriguing to

negotiation is not an easy process nor its orderly, since it is the activity and not the segment that

I once heard something that helped me to get over the fear of selling. I would say it to myself every

The Law Of The Old Testament Essay
Many people, even if they are not very religious, are concerned about what is heaven, and if they are
going to heaven. They want to know how to know God and how to be right with God, so that they do
go to heaven. Let s discuss this very simply.
Actually, this is a very difficult question to answer under the LAW of the Old Testament. But it is a
very easy question to answer under grace in the New Testament. Keep in mind we shouldn t be living
under the law of the Old Testament. We are judged by our belief in the gospel, not by the law (Rom
2:16).
CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS VIEWS
There are two ways to live a God type of life. THE FIRST is focused on self (in the Bible, Paul calls
this self righteousness. This is where your focus is yourself, and you living a good life my means of
some law, standards, rules, principles, methods (Phil 3:9). Living in this type of self righteousness he
says we are ignorant of God s righteousness (Rom 10:3).
THE SECOND is to live life by in God s grace and in his gift of righteousness (Rom 5:17). This is the
gospel way, relying on the finished work of the cross of Jesus.
WHAT IS LAW IN THE BIBLE?
The first way I just described is the way of the Old Testament, which was a system of law. Everyone
who lived by this system failed (Rom 3:10). Not one single person was able to live in this type of
arrangement (Acts 15:10).
By the time Jesus came there were close to 700 laws to follow. Earlier, when Moses brought the law
in, there were only 10

Paper, mercury and coal will continue to affect the biodiversity of the ecosystem and the interactions
of species.
Methods for Waste Disposal
Reduce, reuse, recycle are the primary ways to the dispose of waste. Only about 28 percent of paper
waste that the average household produces is recycled or composted. Most of the paper ends up in the
landfills, or is burned at combustion facilities. Although we may not be recycling as much as we need
to, this is the best alternative for paper disposal. There are two ways that mercury can be disposed of
safely; encapsulation and recycling. Encapsulation is when the mercury is sealed within a non
degrading material, and then it is placed in a landfill area that may not be disturbed for extensive
periods. The recycling process is the most preferable if the facilities are available. This procedure
requires the collection of the mercury material, and then it is chemically treated to precipitate out the
mercury compounds. Filtration is the key to the collection of the compound and metal recovery, so
that the water system is mercury free.
Methods for Waste Management
Waste is a by product of use. Meaning that everything that is used gives off waste. The solid of coal
and the liquid of mercury are no different. The disposal and even use of coal and mercury has been a
great debate for many. Coal ash

The Complete Maus By Art Spiegelman
The Holocaust was a genocide led by Adolf Hitler in the 1930 s and 40 s that took the lives of between
six and eleven million people. The graphic novel, The Complete Maus, written by Art Spiegelman,
follows a father and son discussing and inscribing the story of the father s struggle through the
Holocaust. Vladek Spiegelman uses his skills and wit to avoid the same fate as roughly six million
other Jews. His son, Artie, is having his father recount his story so he can write it down and preserve it
as a piece of history. He uses the format of the graphic novel to provoke emotion and truly display
what life was like for Jews during this time. Spiegelman uses icons, bleeds, and elements of
scrapbooking throughout the text, seen in the men hanging imagery on page 85. These techniques, in
one moment of interdependence, signify events to come, the looming presence of the Nazis, and the
long struggle for Vladek ahead.
The men hanging for selling items on the black market is an important moment textually and visually
that signifies Vladek s realization that the Nazi s would not tolerate people disobeying their rules and
that there would be deadly consequences. The text in this scene describes that four men have been
taken for dealing without coupons and in the same frame Vladek s present time words say, I did much
business with Cohn! (Spiegelman 85). The middle panel, the visual representation of the four men

At the resolution, the writer does not tell the outcome of the short story either the princess has do
overcome her jealousy towards the lady, and let her have him or choose the death for the young man

The next theme is social status. From the beginning of the story, this theme already could be seen
when the writer narrates the atmosphere and scenery of the kingdom with the life of the people. The
social status here divides the royal family with the people. The serious relationship between these two
groups is prohibited as this will give a bad image to the royal family. That s why the young man is
being trialled in the arena as his punishment when the love between the princess and himself has been
known by the king.
Lastly, the theme that also can be interpreted in this short story is loyalty or we can said, blindly loyal.
This theme covers up mostly the part starting when the young man has been accused and will be
trialled in the arena. The young man loyal to the king s command and does not dispute or argue about
it. The people also blindly loyal to their king and no one questioned about the king s command
although they know that this is not fair for the young man.

  • 3. The Invention Of Tradition By Eric Hobsbawm And Terence... Tradition is an integral and powerful aspect of life for everyone on the planet. From the rainforests of Madagascar to the bustling metropolis of New York City, cultural, religious, and social traditions are engrained in the very fiber of human identity. Due to this fierce loyalty to one s traditions, we as people, don t often question where are traditions came from. We ignore the questions about their ethics and moral values, and turn a blind eye to traditions that just don t necessarily make sense. The Invention of Tradition by Eric Hobsbawm and Terence Ranger delves into this avoided facet of history how traditions become what they are to society. The cultural life of Wales in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries provides a striking parallel to the mindset of a large demographic of American citizens today. The conservative, nationalist peoples of the United States is a group full of paradox. They feel their history and culture of life being slowly stripped away, so they fanatically hold onto their beliefs with untamed ferocity. On the one hand the decay or demise of an ancient way of life, writes Prys Morgan, on the other an unprecedented outburst of interest in things Welsh and a highly self conscious activity to preserve...them (Morgan, 43). The United States has seen this phenomenon unfold in front of their eyes this year, with the reemergence of a faction of people whom feel forgotten, searching for their past amongst political and social rubble. Economic Impacts of American Fast Food upon Developing Countries Amanda Lee Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts Introduction Developments leading up to the 21st century are best characterized by the economic advancements found in countries all over the world. Regardless of the level of these advancements in a country, achieving higher living standards, financial stability, and overall growth of the economy are the perpetual goals for a country. Because every country is unique in terms of their economic, political, and social standings, different methods in order to obtain these goals are to be considered. However, the basic principles for achieving these goals seem to follow the trends of globalization: investment, technological improvements, secure institutions, and a market economy. Countries that benefit the most from globalization are found to be of high growth. The integration of a global economy in a country has prompted entrepreneurs to regard the world as one market in the form of franchising. With that being said, economic success can measure the effects of Western commercial globalization from the results of American fast food franchise. It s time we started seeing our wayward youth as young people needing support and rehabilitation rather than merely callous criminals to be punitively punished, degraded and demeaned writes Anna Tran. • 12. Cant Hardly Wait Compared To The Canterbury Tales Canterbury Tales Compare/Contrast Essay Satire as described by the Webster dictionary is a way of using humor to show the weaknesses or bad qualities of a person, government, society, etc. One of the first examples of satirical English writing was Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales. The Canterbury Tales revolve around an eclectic group of pilgrims on a religious journey to St. Thomas Beckett s shrine . The true intent of this classic tale was to expose all of 14th century England to the corruptness of the cast system in London. Chaucer executed his purpose by including characters of various statures into his story and discreetly criticizing them by using humor. In doing so he also criticized the morals of aristocracy at that time. Centuries later Chaucer s interpretation of society continues to be used in literature and other forms of art today. Can t Hardly Wait is an example of a film that embodies Chaucer s ideas. This cheesy 1990s classic romance is set at a high school graduation party. • 14. The Freedom Of Speech And Worship Essay During the Second World War, there was a change in equality within the United States of America. These changes did not take place until after Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote a famous speech that closely looked at the essential freedoms and rights of each person in the world, the Four Freedoms. Freedom of speech and worship, along with freedom from want and fear, were the topics of this great speech. People compared Roosevelt s speech to some of the other more influential and well known proclamations known during that era: including the Emancipation Proclamation, the Magna Carta, and even the Ten Commandments. The power and confidence this address held spread beyond the United States just as Roosevelt hoped, giving other nations an example of what could be if there was peace. The Four Freedoms speech became a universal proclamation that granted and encouraged freedom everywhere, even while denying those same human rights to American citizens. Freedom of speech and worship are two rights in which most people are accustomed to. As they are laid out in the first amendment of the Constitution, any citizen has the right to speak their mind and worship how they would like. • 15. Argumentative Essay On Multiple Disabilities Disability Everyone desires to live a normal life, without others examining them differently for a disability that they cannot control. Many disabled people are experiencing completely normal lives, when several others are not functioning normal because of a physical or mental disease. People in our world, including the media, do not seem to focus on the disabled people who are living a normal life and are properly functioning. They would rather keep attention on the ones who are stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of their life, and believe that their life is nearly over. Whether someone is disabled or not, they all have the same potential in life, and can all achieve the same goals as someone who is healthy. Mairs, Anaya, and my cousin, Tyler, prove that even though people do look at others differently because of a disability, everyone can still live a normal life. Nancy Mairs is a woman who lived with an incurable disease known as Multiple Sclerosis, however, with the assistance of a cane and wheelchair, she was functioning her life almost identically to she was before. In Mairs essay Disability, she described how she has been examining the media to find similar representations of herself. Mairs found only one example of a woman with Multiple Sclerosis on television, which the main focus of that individual was on how terrible their life was, and how they have no hope to live a normal life. Mairs views this representation as a problem, and believes that physical disability looms pretty large in one s life. But it doesn t devour one wholly (Mairs 13). Mairs continues to explain how she was fairly similar to all the women her age, and how she engaged in the same activities women her age do. Nancy Mairs is a perfect example of a woman who was continuing to live her life normally, even with the drawback of a severe disease. In the essay Mental Illness on Television, Rosie Anaya extended off of Mairs opinions on the media and how they portray the disabled. • 20. Analysis Of The Poem Poor North By Mark Strand Mark Strand s poem, Poor North depicts the life of a married couple facing countless struggles during a harsh winter. It tells of a man working in an unsuccessful store while his wife sits at home, wishing for her old life back. The way the wife copes with her sadness is both intriguing and perplexing. She misses her old life, even though it is described to have not been special; however, the wife may be a person who never feels satisfied or fulfilled by the external world due to internal conflict. Despite the wife s obvious misery, she stays by her husband s side and they stroll in the cold together, bracing the wind. As a means of escape from life, she peers into her past in order to find hope in the present. The title of the poem implies that the home of characters is not a place where anyone would want to spend their life. When the north is described as the poor north, in both the title and at the end of the first stanza, it makes it seem as though it is an established fact, recognized by anyone who has visited or lived there. The description is solidified when the speaker says, nothing goes right in the poor north (5). A bad experience must have occurred in order for the speaker to feel negatively about the setting of the poem; otherwise, there would be no need for strong language to describe it. The speaker is external, almost as though they are watching the events unfold from a distance, as if they were looking through a window into someone else s life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to reaffirm the courts decision on this matter I will be relating their decisions in the cases of Oliver v. United States (1984), and California v. Being a segregated city like the rest of Oklahoma, many of Tulsa s African American citizens resided in Greenwood an area composed of predominately African American communities and business locations. The discovery of oil is the number one reason why Tulsa s economy flourished. There was an abundance of wealthy African Americans due to of this discovery. Because of the affluence and success within the African American community going on in this one particular area, it became known as the Black Wall Street. The whole chain of events began on May 30, 1921 when Dick Rowland, a young black man, allegedly assaulted a white elevator operator. Rowland was arrested the next day. However, outside the courthouse a group of raging whites gathered to attempt to lynch Rowland while a group of African Americans were protecting him to prevent the hanging. With the signal of one unintentional gunshot, many others rang out leaving some from both groups dead. With word getting around town of the riot, many angered whites stormed into the Greenwood District. Residencies were set on fire and many businesses were looted and burned to the ground. Planes also flew by dropping bombs in the area. With law enforcement on the whites side, the officers were also a part of the riot. The National Guard was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nationalism is shown in many ways throughout World War I, the Interwar Years, and World War II. It is shown in nationalists groups such as the KMT, through new ideas such as Nazism or Fascism, and during events that happen during wars and revolutions, such as the Salt March. Since this is one of the only malls near this campus, this is one of the only places for college students to shop. Also, there are many restaurants and other stores around that attract people to this area. From our experience of being students here, we know that we go to Target a lot to shop. Therefore, choosing to locate the store near a college campus and not a small town probably helps sales dramatically. College students are also at the age where they prefer to work out quite often, so Target is in the perfect place for customers that desire more active wear clothing. There are not many other ... We feel that it would have been easier to shop if all leggings styles were next to each other, all tank top styles were next to each other, all sports bras next to each other, and so on. We found the same exact pair of leggings on two different sides of the section. This could keep a customer from finding an appropriate size, which could result in Target losing a sale. Thus, although the active wear section itself was very easy to find, making shopability easy, the styles of clothing themselves were very spread out making shopability difficult. Therefore, we believe Target deserves a grade of a three for this topic, as it isn t terrible but definitely could be improved. Promotion/Marketing of Product Rating: 5 We were very impressed by how well Target marketed the C9 Champion brand. There was signage all around the active wear section, including a large sign along the aisle with a logo by the mannequin, signage on top of clothing racks, on the sides of clothing racks, and extra detail on the hangtags. The signs portrayed the goal or mission behind the brand: Freedom, Premium, and Embrace. Hangtags specified which of these the style of legging was, also including more information about the product such as Duo Dry+, reflective lighting, zip pocket, soft comfortable fabric, ventilated zones for breathability, and more. • 35. The Three Faces of Eve and dissociative identity disorder Although dissociative identity disorder (formerly called multiple personality disorder) is extremely rare and difficult to diagnose, it seems to be awfully popular with numerous Hollywood interpretations. The Three Faces of Eve does a fairly admirable job of conveying the disorder even though information defining the illness was (and still is) limited at the time the movie was made. Eve White, Eve Black, and Jane, all played by Joanne Woodward, had distinct personalities. Eve White was the quiet, submissive homemaker who loved her husband and adored her little girl. She had very little personality and was displayed as being in a depressed state. Eve Black, on the other hand, was Mrs. White s polar opposite. She was flirtatious, enjoyed an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is easy to tell when Ms. Black is being portrayed with her change in clothes, makeup and flirtatious behavior in certain scenes, but when the actual switch is occurring on camera, the film makers had to have a way of ensuring the audience would be able to catch on. This brings up the methodology used in the treatment of the patient. There are many possible treatments that are available, including relaxation therapy, cognitive modification, drugs and sedatives, and hypnotherapy. The later of these causes great debates among the psychological community and is denounced by many, yet it is the therapy of choice in the film. Hypnosis, though used by so few psychologists and psychiatrists, seems to be among the top used therapies in movies. Though the process used in this particular film to place the patient in a hypnotic state seems to be more realistic than those used in many other movies, it is still lacking. The process of placing oneself or another person in a hypnotic state is a fairly intense procedure of relaxation. Though, like the movie portrays, counting (backwards or forwards) is often used in hypnosis, it frequently is preceded by a brief, calming story of sorts to clear the patient s head and place him/her in a calm state of mind. There may be better, more efficient ways to treat a patient with dissociative identity disorder, but the movie itself would not be nearly as exciting or intriguing to ... • 39. The Law Of The Old Testament Essay Many people, even if they are not very religious, are concerned about what is heaven, and if they are going to heaven. They want to know how to know God and how to be right with God, so that they do go to heaven. Let s discuss this very simply. Actually, this is a very difficult question to answer under the LAW of the Old Testament. But it is a very easy question to answer under grace in the New Testament. Keep in mind we shouldn t be living under the law of the Old Testament. We are judged by our belief in the gospel, not by the law (Rom 2:16). CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS VIEWS There are two ways to live a God type of life. THE FIRST is focused on self (in the Bible, Paul calls this self righteousness. This is where your focus is yourself, and you living a good life my means of some law, standards, rules, principles, methods (Phil 3:9). Living in this type of self righteousness he says we are ignorant of God s righteousness (Rom 10:3). THE SECOND is to live life by in God s grace and in his gift of righteousness (Rom 5:17). This is the gospel way, relying on the finished work of the cross of Jesus. WHAT IS LAW IN THE BIBLE? The first way I just described is the way of the Old Testament, which was a system of law. Everyone who lived by this system failed (Rom 3:10). Not one single person was able to live in this type of arrangement (Acts 15:10). By the time Jesus came there were close to 700 laws to follow. Almost everything humans use on a daily basis contains some sort of paper product, whether its cereal boxes, parking tickets, toilet paper, shopping bags, store receipts, food containers were all created by timber. The problem is by cutting down the timber to make these everyday products that greenhouse gas emissions are being released in the atmosphere. Methods for Waste Disposal Reduce, reuse, recycle are the primary ways to the dispose of waste. Only about 28 percent of paper waste that the average household produces is recycled or composted. Most of the paper ends up in the landfills, or is burned at combustion facilities. Although we may not be recycling as much as we need to, this is the best alternative for paper disposal. There are two ways that mercury can be disposed of safely; encapsulation and recycling. Encapsulation is when the mercury is sealed within a non degrading material, and then it is placed in a landfill area that may not be disturbed for extensive periods. The recycling process is the most preferable if the facilities are available. This procedure requires the collection of the mercury material, and then it is chemically treated to precipitate out the mercury compounds. Filtration is the key to the collection of the compound and metal recovery, so that the water system is mercury free. Methods for Waste Management Waste is a by product of use. Meaning that everything that is used gives off waste. The solid of coal and the liquid of mercury are no different. The disposal and even use of coal and mercury has been a great debate for many. • 41. The Complete Maus By Art Spiegelman The Holocaust was a genocide led by Adolf Hitler in the 1930 s and 40 s that took the lives of between six and eleven million people. The graphic novel, The Complete Maus, written by Art Spiegelman, follows a father and son discussing and inscribing the story of the father s struggle through the Holocaust. Vladek Spiegelman uses his skills and wit to avoid the same fate as roughly six million other Jews. His son, Artie, is having his father recount his story so he can write it down and preserve it as a piece of history. He uses the format of the graphic novel to provoke emotion and truly display what life was like for Jews during this time. Spiegelman uses icons, bleeds, and elements of scrapbooking throughout the text, seen in the men hanging imagery on page 85. These techniques, in one moment of interdependence, signify events to come, the looming presence of the Nazis, and the long struggle for Vladek ahead. The men hanging for selling items on the black market is an important moment textually and visually that signifies Vladek s realization that the Nazi s would not tolerate people disobeying their rules and that there would be deadly consequences. The text in this scene describes that four men have been taken for dealing without coupons and in the same frame Vladek s present time words say, I did much business with Cohn! (Spiegelman 85). From the beginning of the story, this theme already could be seen when the writer narrates the atmosphere and scenery of the kingdom with the life of the people. The social status here divides the royal family with the people. The serious relationship between these two groups is prohibited as this will give a bad image to the royal family. That s why the young man is being trialled in the arena as his punishment when the love between the princess and himself has been known by the king. Lastly, the theme that also can be interpreted in this short story is loyalty or we can said, blindly loyal.
