What Are The Similarities Between Beautiful And...
Christina Arguilera Beautiful and Beyonce Pretty Hurts have some similarities and differences
between them. The two songs were both created to boost confidence and communicate to insecure
people. Some similarities between the two is the intended audience, the mood, and the subject. The
intended audience for the two is insecure people. The mood for the two is powerful because they made
me feel beautiful. The subject for the two is you are beautiful no matter what. The differences between
the two is the speaker, the tone, the purpose, and the theme. The speakers are Christina Aguilera and
Beyonce. The tone of Pretty Hurts is neutral because she wasn t mad, she just doesn t like how they

Myth Gender Based Wage Gap
Myth Gender Based Wage Gap
Raaga Agraharam
Soc 101
Introduction:
On January 29, 2016, The White House Press Office released a FACT SHEET on new steps to
advance equal pay for women. This FACT SHEET states that,
the median wage of a woman working full time all year in the United States is about $39,600 only 79
percent of a man s median earnings of $50,400 (The White House, 2016).
However, many scholars and economists disagree that a gender wage gap exists. In addition,
conservative political experts and bloggers promote the notion that gender based wage gap is an idea
propagated by feminists, women empowering organizations, and progressives. However, almost all the
working women in the United States, and organizations such as Institute for Women s Policy Research
(IRWP), and American Association of University Women (AAAU), strongly believe in the existence
of the gender wage gap.
This sociological issue of equal pay for women is extremely relevant in today s environment where
women perform equal work as men in many occupations. Furthermore, with almost 50% of the work
force being women, women contributing equally to the family income, and a large number of women
being the single parents supporting children, lack of equal pay over time could increase the poverty
rates for women (White House, 2016). In addition, IWPR s 2015 report on the status of American
women, states that if women receive equal pay for the same work, poverty rate among women will see

The Cultural Differences Between British And British Culture
Having been born in America, the American culture differs slightly from the British culture
particularly due to the influence the British exerted on North Americans during the colonial period.
Further, most of the Americans are immigrants from other countries, with most of the people coming
from the United Kingdom and Ireland. The eminent cultural differences between the two cultures is
that the behavior of people in the British culture are laid back while their American counterparts are
more hectic and appear to be in a hurry. The British do not like to engage in conversations with
strangers and tend to stick to their close friends while Americans are social to strangers in public
places.
While the British prefer pub food, the North Americans prefer fast foods. There are differences in the
cuisine and dialect, which sets the two cultures apart. Further, in Britain people are more obsessed
with soccer, tennis, and rugby while North Americans prefer baseball, basketball, hockey, and
American football. On the roads, Americans keep right while British keep left. Americans show more
passion in whatever they do compared to the British.
One may say that the American culture is a ramification of the British culture since the history of the
two countries is intertwined and shares a lot of similarities. The British are the forefounders of
America and thus were instrumental in passing down some cultural practices to the Americans, for
example, language and a common body of literature, wit, common law tradition, and the rule of law.

I have had a wrong impression of a Japanese student whom I met during a symposium and although I
later regretted my mistake and sought to learn from it. I had formed a metal picture of the individual
based on stereotypes I see on television and in the movies. Since the individual was short, I saw them
as less attractive and had expected that they were less intelligent. However, when they had to present a
point, I was left in awe as they were flawless and fluent in what they were explaining. That proved me
wrong on my first impression of them. I had also made impressions on the student s accent and
speech. Such showed that one tends to lean and like what they

Gentrification In Houston Texas
The Third Ward of Houston Texas is a historic district known mainly for two things being rich in
African American history and its exceedingly high crime rates. While this part of town has always
been a solid representation of African American culture when desegregation occurred all families that
could afford to quickly moved to the wealthy parts of the city leaving the district nearly abandoned.
Naturally following the abandonment of the district most businesses followed leaving low income
residents with little to no job opportunities. A popular phenomenon that has arose recently in urban
cities such as these (due to its raving success in cities such as Chicago) is gentrification. Gentrification
is the renovation of these high crime low income areas in the hopes of creating a better neighborhood.
However, one of the unforeseen side effects of gentrification is the displacement of the low income
residents who can no longer afford to live in this nicer neighborhood. Gentrification specifically in
Houston Texas is a tool that is may seem valuable however it often disrupts lives, displaces families,
and destroys cultures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this can displace people who have called the third ward home for years. Another possible
explanation for this generations interest in gentrification is the popular subculture known as the hipster
. Often known for their idolization of thing ironic, retro or authentic the hipster culture has taken an
interest in these urban cities not only as a way of obtaining cheap housing but also as somewhat of a
fashion statement. But the only irony here is that their interest in a more authentic motif is actually
hurting the authenticity they so

Reaction Paper On Cyborgs
The world has changed a lot in the past decade, the development of new technology and the changing
of health care has improved tremendously. Digital innovation have made it possible nowadays for
consumers to use as a portable devices to access their medical information and able to monitor their
daily lifestyle, physical and psychological habit. We no longer have to look to the science fictions
book to find the cyborg, we are cyborgs now. According to the dictionary cyborg is a fictional or
hypothetical person whose physical abilities are extended beyond normal human limitations by
mechanical elements built into the body (Duus and Cooray, 2015). Nowadays cyborgs not only mean
extended beyond normal human limitations but can be a part of your body part. From the device we
carry around like wearable technology is now considered as a cyborgs (2015). This devices are giving

Five Main Features Of Designing A New Venue In Town
Designing a New Venue in Town
a. Description of Venue My venue is going to be used as a paintball course area. It would be located in
the area as marked by Figure 1. There is seven normal outdoor paintball fields and one giant grassy
outdoor paintball field. There is also an indoor paintball field as well. Two of the normal fields would
be covered with trees and four would be covered with grass. In my venue, there is also a check in /
rental area for people to rent out equipment and check in. There is also an ice cream parlour in the
rental area as well.
The estimated number of people using it at any given time is 40.
b. Features that would reduce negative impact
There are five main features that would reduce negative impact to surface ... Show more content on

This helps minimize negative impact to the surface/ground water reservoirs in two different ways.
One, this reduces the risk of algal blooms in the surface waters. Algal blooms occur due to the excess
amount of nutrients in the water, causing eutrophication. Eutrophication causes huge plant and algae
growth because of the increased amount of nutrients. Then the plants and algae die and bacteria causes
the plants/algae to decompose, using up dissolved oxygen. This results in a lack of oxygen, hypoxia
and anoxia, in the water. Therefore, many organisms such as the fish die due to the lack of dissolved
oxygen in the water.
Two, this increases the potential of infiltration. Water flows from impermeable areas like buildings to
the settling pond where it can infiltrate into the ground. Rip rap is the surface cover of the water
retention pond. Rip rap creates channels for water to flow through, giving its high infiltration rate.
Even though most of the water would be drained by the drainage pipes, some would be infiltrated into
the soil.
Another water control feature is having a vegetative surface cover on the hillsides of the venue. As
seen in Figure 2, grass, a vegetative cover, covers the southern hill and trees cover the northern hill.
The vegetation stabilizes the soil, preventing erosion and gulleys. The vegetative surface cover on the
hillsides also increases the potential for infiltration. Grass has a high infiltration rate because the roots

Christmas Cookie Research Paper
History of the Christmas Cookie
Before Christmas brought its traditions into the world, ancient cooks baked sweets for different
occasions. In the Middle Ages, Europeans started cooking cookies for Christmas. Christmas cookies
were defined by cut outs and molds brought over to Europe by the Dutch. The first American
Christmas cookie is documented by Amelia Simmons, who wrote American Cookery. The very first
cookey had flour, coriander seed, butter, sugar, pearlash and milk. A far cry from what Americans have
come to know and love as the Christmas Cookie.
By 1924, the ingredients had started to change to what Americans know as butter, eggs, sugar, flour
and milk. In most cases, nuts were added into the mixture to bring in a Bohemian fill ... Show more

half to 3/16 inch thick.
Preheat over to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the cookies with the cookie cutters and lay onto a non
stick cookie sheet. While the cookies are baking for 7 to 8 minutes, make the frosting. Beat powdered
sugar, vanilla and milk together until the ingredients become smooth, not runny. Once cookies are
done, decorate with frosting, springs and sugars.
Conclusion
Although cookies have developed from ancient times, the tradition is still in place. People love to

Representation of Sexuality in Tv

I have chosen to look at and analyse a television text. It is a TV drama aimed at a teenage audience
called Skins. I chose this particular text as it focuses upon many different characters and scenarios in
regards to sexuality and this forms a basis for analysis and evaluation. Skins also focuses upon
Teenage sexuality, specifically, which I believe is a broad and interesting subject to analyse with many
opportunities to elaborate.

The further off the rails Cassie goes, the more extreme the sexual situations, at one point courting a
female and then a few minutes after the female leaves a male arrives. Sexuality strongly influences
people s identity. (Op. cit. p.22) And at this point in the series we find that Cassie has a very mixed up
idea about who she is and what she wants.
This can also be seen in Season 1 when Maxxies best friend Anwar refuses to tell his parents about
Maxxies sexuality due to their religious beliefs. We see that Maxxie is torn between who he is and
whom Anwar wants him to be and this puts the friendship under great strain resulting in Maxxie
refusing to turn up to Anwars party. Gay adolescents who are more conventional in their gender
characteristics have the option of passing as straight and many do. (Op. cit. p. 461) This situation
happens a lot in real life but can be the cause of many problems, both for the person dealing with
feelings of homosexuality and hiding them and those around that person. Many people have reported
having feelings of being trapped within themselves and having pent up aggression due to being in
such a situation, which isn t hard to believe when we think that adolescence is when we discover
ourselves sexually. Adolescence involves the development of a sense of self and social identity
independent of one s parents (Erikson, 1968; Steinberg 2004). Answering questions about one s

The Factors Associated With Youth Homelessness And Arrest,...
Poverty has long been a consistent characteristic in crime. Numerous theories like Social
Disorganization, Labeling Theory, and Strain Theory have been created to try to explain the
connection between poverty and crime. As these theories demonstrate , the devastating external factors
that poverty causes contribute to crime. Yet, the connection between poverty and crime continues to
deliver new data, adding to the way criminologist analyze crime. These studies develop new methods
including governmental programs , investments in certain areas or change in tax codes for tackling
poverty emerge. Therefore, it is pivotal to continue studying the connection between poverty and
crime to properly a large of factor of crime from its roots.
The article Exploring the Factors Associated With Youth Homelessness and Arrest, by Kim Fielding
and Cheryl Forchuk discusses the homeless epidemic found throughout Canada. It is estimated that
around 150,000 Canadians are homeless, with around one third of those being juveniles. The article
focuses on juveniles because of their fragile age and their lack of stable environment makes them
prone to commit crimes in order to obtain basic necessities. The study includes interviews, surveys,
and demographics to characterize the homeless participants in order to provide an understanding of
their homeless situation.

Rhetorical Analysis of Speeches in to Kill a Mockingbird,...
We should study spoken language as it is truly unique and we can see the effect and beauty of spoken
language in works of great orators and writers. Spoken language is truly an art, which involves many
techniques to perfect and master it. One of the techniques is rhetoric. Rhetoric is the art of effective or
persuasive speaking or writing. The ancient Greeks first developed public speaking. Under Roman,
influence public speaking developed further. This was heavily under the influence of Cicero and
Aristotle. The speeches I have chosen to study are the closing speech of Atticus Fitch in the novel to
Kill a Mockingbird and the Battle of Falkirk by William Wallace in the movie Brave heart. Atticus s
speech occurs in a courtroom in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done in order to engender pity and sympathy towards Tom Robinson in the courtroom and thus
motivate the jury to return an innocent verdict.
Atticus uses a combination of convincing and logical evidence, but is also very passionate as he is not
doing this as a lip service. He was doing this, as he could not live with himself if he did not do his best
to defend Tom Robinson despite the chances of winning the court case. The use of emotive language
and well reasoned arguments makes the case more persuasive and plausible. Atticus is rather astute in
showing compassion for Mayella, this shows honesty and integrity in his character therefore the jury
is more inclined to believe him over the witnesses. Atticus makes a direct plea to the jury but he does
this on a personal level. Atticus pauses to create more impact as it is dramatically effective as it
focuses our attention to the truth. Atticus throws the burden of blame on Mayella making her culpable
of the crime that happened and not his client. He uses repetition to emphasise his case and evidence.
Atticus s tone becomes increasing aggressive and uncompromising however, he remains courteous
and dignified throughout. Atticus highlights to the jury the sheer arrogance of the witnesses of the
state who believed their word would not be questioned over a black man. Atticus shouted TEMERITY
as he had become so frustrated. This is the only point in the speech where

Analysis Of Waiting For Godot
Throughout Samuel Beckett s Waiting For Godot, a deceptively simplistic tale of two men waiting for
the arrival of a seemingly divide entity uncovers the truth of mankind s existence. Estragon and
Vladimir, the two protagonists, are stuck in a vicious cycle of hopeful waiting, only to find that Godot,
the mysteriously omnipresent and omniscient being in the play, never arrives. While they patiently
anticipate his arrival, they encounter a type of bondage that illustrates the very significance of
insignificance as illustrated through Pozzo and his human slave, Lucky. All four characters are
destined to acknowledge the nonexistence of life itself, each being on his own path to a sacred state of
endless acceptance that is ultimately reflective of mankind in its entirety. The ritualistic waiting
illustrated by Vladimir and Estragon is a portrayal of how mankind s attempts to accept
meaninglessness are futile due to a nebulous force that constantly drives the characters. Unlike Pozzo
and Lucky, Vladimir and Estragon essentially cannot leave the stage of life because they continually
embrace the notion of hope associated with the eventual arrival of the God like Godot: VLADIMIR:
Well? What do we do? ESTRAGON: Don t let s do anything. It s safer. VLADIMIR: Let s wait and
see what he says. ESTRAGON: Who? VLADIMIR: Godot. ESTRAGON: Good idea. (13)

prayer in hopes that

A Report On Unhappy Triad

Spring 2015

Unhappy Triad The unhappy triad is an injury involving three major ligaments, hence triad , being
completely or partially torn. As imagined, the pain felt from this is excruciating, therefore earning the
name unhappy or terrible triad. Being a very common injury in contact sports, the background,
characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of the unhappy triad are all essential to
understanding this injury.
The unhappy triad, also known as blown knee , terrible triad , or O Donoghue triad , is named after Dr
DH O Donoghue, an American orthopaedic surgeon who described this injury back in 1950. This
injury includes full or partial tears of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), the Medial Collateral
Ligament (MCL), and a meniscus. The unhappy triad happens to about 25% of athlete s knee injuries.
The unhappy triad is a very common sports injury, especially in contact sports where the knee can
often be hit. It is thought to be the most common knee injury in football and can occur when the knee
is clipped during a tackle.
Normally, the unhappy triad occurs when the foot is planted and the knee is hit and pushed in another
direction. This causes the ligaments and tendons to tear and rip, thus causing the terrible or unhappy
triad. The most common and serious thing that happens to cause a unhappy triad starts with the ACL.
The ACL provides stability to the entire knee and it can be difficult to

Analysis Of My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
Theodore Roethke s poem, My Papa s Waltz has spurred passionate academic debates among
professors, scholars, and students; the imagery, context, and diction of the poem clearly supports the
interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz reflecting on his relationship with his father. A
relationship in which, notably, causes harm to the author. However, through all the nights Roethke
spent in pain and in horror, his love for his father still exists. While many people believe that the
author tells a lovely story of a fond memory with his father, it is not possible that the use of negative
imagery and negative diction does not play a role in the story told. My Papa s Waltz tells the story of a
small boy who is abused by his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the negative imagery in My Papa s Waltz strengthens the interpretation that the poem is
about abuse. Throughout the entire poem the author noticeably creates multiple negative images.
Roethke mentions how he hung on like death and how his father held [his] wrist not his hand. From
these two lines we can already see how Roethke is in some kind of danger or trouble, for he hung on
like death which serves to explain how he barely survived he had much trouble staying on. His father
also does not hold his hand; he holds his wrist, as if he were getting his son in trouble. If his father
would to waltz, as in dance with his son, he would hold him by the hand not the wrist. Further,
Roethke mentions his mother whose countenance could not unfrown itself. Many argue the author
implies that his mother frowns at the sight of the pans falling in the kitchen. Analyzing closely, one
can conclude that it is unreasonable for a mother to just frown and watch her pans fall logically, she
would react in some other form by trying to stop it. Since the author does not mention any movement,
it is reasonable to believe that the mother just stands there with a frown because her eyes come across
a horrific image that she freezes in fear and can only frown upon this sight. Roethke s father hurts and
attacks his son in some form and Roethke tried to fight back and

Economic Analysis and Strategies to Increase Spending
Economic analysis 2006 and 2011. The five year benchmarks selected for this analysis do not well
represent the fluctuations in the economy in the interim years, which have been substantial. Naturally,
the fiscal crisis of 2008 to 2010 had deep and enduring impact on the national and global economies,
but the bookend years of this analysis effectively obfuscate the volatility resident in those years. Fiscal
year 2008, for instance, the inflation rate reached nearly 5%, the unemployment rate peaked in 2009,
and the interest rate reached 5% in 2007. What this analysis does provide is a look at the stabilization
of the economy without the noise of the intervening fiscal crisis. Through the monetary policy by The
Fed during the fiscal crisis, efforts have been directed at maximizing employment and price stability.
As a result, the interest rate will remain low with no changes anticipated until 2014. Inflation has
stabilized, interest investments are low but gradually increasing, and the unemployment rate is slowly
dropping but is not expected to accelerate.

Franchise vs. Business Opportunity
To the untrained eye, franchise and business opportunity investments look pretty much the same. Both
invite you to purchase a package of goods and services and business concepts. Both offer you the

In reality, though, there are huge differences between the two concepts. While these fundamental

who will swear by their beliefs despite the standard opinion of the television and the textbook. Minute

As the New York Herald in Paris remarked, It is difficult to fly. It is easy to say, We have flown, two
things fueled skepticism in the face of scientific achievement: a disbelief in technological capabilities,
and a lack of demonstrable results. The Apollo missions extinguished both concerns. In terms of
technology, hoax believers frequently mention the Soviets constant lead in the Space Race. They
achieved many firsts, but were never able to send men to the moon; it seems logical, then, that this
feat must have been beyond the Americans as well. But in reality, the United States was never far
behind. In fact, by 1965, it overtook its rival, reaching many milestones that were key to manned lunar
missions (e.g. space rendezvous). NASA, thus, was in a good position to travel to the moon and to the
moon it traveled. As noted in Lunar Rocks and Soils from Apollo Missions, it even brought back some
souvenirs, in the form of 842 pounds of moon rocks. These samples possess unique properties unseen
in any Earth counterparts, and to forge these rocks in such large volumes would have been impossible.
Rocks aside, there are other reasons to believe in the moon landings as well: reflectors left on the lunar
surface, or landing site imagery, to name a few. Surely, the validity of the landings lacks no evidence
in support. Then again, the vast majority of us have never been in space, on the moon,

improved police databases, reports, tracking, and forensics (DOJ, 2004). In addition, a less lethal
weapon is designed to disable, capture, or immobilize a suspect without killing them. However,
occasionally deaths do happen as a result of less lethal weapons which include kinetic energy,
electrical, acoustic, and chemical weapons. Furthermore, violence, disease, and infected evidence are
dangers that law enforcement officers face today.

Specialized cameras now allow crime techs to capture entire crime scenes on video for later reference.
Therefore, GPS devices and forensic science have also been improved by technology and have
enhanced law enforcement organizations ability to function.
Kinetic energy and electric weapons are less lethal weapons that are used by law enforcement officers
today. Kinetic energy is used by specially developed firearm rounds that are designed to incapacitate a
suspect non lethally. The specially developed firearm rounds include rubber, wax, plastic, and beanbag
tipped projectiles. For example, if law enforcement officers encounter a heavy set suspect with a knife
that is unwilling to comply, they can fire at the suspect with a beanbag shotgun to knock the wind of
the suspect in an effort to detain him/her. Electric weapons include stun guns and stun batons which
use electricity to immobilize their targets (Grant, 2008). For instance, if a suspect that poses a threat is
not following orders given to them by law enforcement officers then the stung gun can be used which
ultimately stiffens their muscles rendering them unable to move. Therefore, kinetic energy and electric
weapons are less lethal weapons that are used by law enforcement officers today.
Chemical weapons are also less lethal weapons that are used by law enforcement

The On The Soil Lacks For Life On Mars Essay
The soil lacks in nutrients. Therefore, greenhouses would have to be built and constructed in a way
that the plants can adapt to the environment in almost a similar way to Earth. This would allow the
plants to grow on Mars and over some time, create food for life on Mars. To have this greenhouse on
Mars it would help grow plants for food, recycling and for replenishing the air. The main disadvantage
to easily growing plants on Mars is the low atmospheric pressure that would make the plants act as if
they are quickly drying out and dying. To get around this issue on Mars, we would have to be able to
control the air pressure in the greenhouse. Scientists have stated that A hydroponics system allows the
plants to grow without soil, while artificial light ensures the plants are able to grow efficiently .
The food planted needs to have enough nutrients in its roots to be able to grow and have enough
nutrients for humans to survive. For human survival, we would have to plant enough plants for some
to be used as creating oxygen in the atmosphere and the edible portion to our nutrition. This would
keep us healthy on Mars and be able to survive. Surprisingly enough, the Martian soil contains
nutrients that is even more nourished than some of Earth s soils. This means that the soil doesn t lack
any nutrients to grow food, it is the excessive volume of Perchlorate chemicals which would cause
adverse effects on a human s health. On Mars, as the plant grows, it starts to absorb the

My Trip To Disney World In Orlando, Florida
Briskly walking to ride Space Mountain as Disney World opened for the day, I realized that Disney
was my favorite place to visit and my dream vacation spot. My fascination for Disney began when I
was young and helped plan my family s vacation. Experiencing new rides, themed meals, and
breathtaking shows make a trip to Disney a magical experience and unique from other destinations.
Therefore, if I was given a ticket to travel anywhere in the world, I would choose to visit Disney
World in Orlando, Florida. Planning several months in advance is necessary in order to experience
numerous attractions while at Disney. My interest in planning Disney trips was enhanced by watching

Several attractions including the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Splash Mountain would occupy my
time as I entered the park. Following those attractions, I would use the Fastpass reservations that I had
reserved for my favorite rides. Afterward, I would immerse myself with Belle and the Beast and feast
on a delectable lunch inside the his elegant castle at Be Our Guest restaurant. With a belly full of
French food, I would continue to tour the park and ride some of my favorite classic attractions like
Peter Pan s Flight and It s A Small World. After several more rides, I would walk to Adventureland
and get my favorite dessert, a Dole Whip Float, which is an icy cold mouth watering treat of creamy
ice cream and tangy pineapple juice. As the park transitions to nighttime, I would find a bench on
Main Street and watch the vibrant colors burst in the sky to my favorite Disney tunes. The atmosphere
on Main Street during the fireworks show makes Disney an unforgettable experience and unlike
anything else. At the conclusion of the fireworks, I would have to take a picture in front of Cinderella

The Positivity of Year-Round Schools Essay
Do you ever wonder why the kids cause so much chaos during vacation? Well they have too much
time on their hands and not enough supervision. Back when we lived in a basic economy, summer
vacation made sense because academic achievement mattered less. An absence of air conditioning or
modern hygiene turned crowded schools into health risks, and children had moms who were home
every day. Times have changed now, so we have no need for summer vacation. Year Round schools
would be successful because GPAs will rise and graduation rates will increase also children would

Allocated school and class time, instructional time, and academic learning time. Allocated school and
class time are hours of non instructional activities. Instructional time should be devoted to formal
instruction and learning, but not with poor teaching inattention. Lastly, is academic learning time
when the students are actually learning. The important and obvious distinction makes in clear why and
extended time proposal must focus on providing the kind of time such as instructional and academic
time, rather than just adding hours in general. Extending and improving the use of instructional time
could undoubtedly benefit all students. But studies suggest that extended time may matter more for
some students than others. Poor and minority students are less likely than their more affluent peers
that benefit from resources out of school. Evidence from the beginning school study (BBS), a long
study that began in 1982 by sociologists Doris Entwisle and Karl Alexander, shows that lower income
lose ground to higher income children over time because of what researches call summer learning
loss.
Some strategies for extending learning is more beneficial than others. Most calculations suggest that a
10% increase in time would require a 6% to 7% increase in cost. Cost calculations are based largely
on increased school staffing, but often do not consider other costs such as those for additional building
maintenance, electric, telephone, etc. The recent Massachusetts plan, which

Comprehensive Acrobat Summary
The Comprehensive Acrobat: The Function of the Triangle in Book Six Triangles have long been a
friend to us in the pristine mathematical realm. However, after book one we moved on: we looked at
parallelograms, circles. They came back in book four, but were lost again as we ascended to the
abstract concepts of same ratios and equimultiples. In book six, however, we are once again
confronted with our old friend but in a new yet familiar way. We begin comparing similar triangles
rather than equal triangles, and start paying more attention to the way the figure and its boundaries
relate. Thus, in book six the triangle becomes the fundamental shape of similarity and helps us bind
figures and ratios together, a fact shown in the overarching progression of book six. The seminal
function of the triangle is allowing us access to the concept of similarity. This may seem odd, since
similar triangles do not arise until proposition twenty, where we prove they have a duplicate ratio to
their sides. However, proposition three through eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarity and proportionality are heavily interlinked, which is why we can only approach the former
after a thorough analysis of the latter. In propositions four through six, the method of demonstration is
to build an object outside the triangles we are trying to prove resemble one another in some fashion.
These objects are lines in proposition four (which coincide to form a parallelogram) and another
triangle with the features we desire to demonstrate in propositions five and six. What they bear a
striking resemblance to however, is equimultiples, a concept we worked with in the beginning of book
five. Thus, triangles are once again pointing us towards a facet of similarity (the proportionality) by
taking our mind once again to book five while simultaneously harkening back to the most rudimentary
proofs contained in book

The Battle Of Plymouth Is A Major Confederate Victory
The Battle of Plymouth is famed for its historical significance and celebrated for its profitable value in
tourism. The Battle of Plymouth was a major Confederate victory, but also the background for a tale
of great. The history as it is preserved, and the subsequent collective memory, are a byproduct of their
modern adaptation which is meant to entertain and entice tourists. The battle is a complex set of events
that remain in the interest of the public to this day. When marketing this ever intriguing skirmish, the
town aims to draw more income from tourism by targeting specific audiences. The collective memory
is not altered exclusively by marketing. Instead, as oral history passes down the stories of the
Confederacy, Southerners tend to whitewash of the traitorous secession of the South. Instead, a story
of Southern heroism and defiance to federal government is passed down through the generations. This
leaves the local people with a biased collective memory and with scarcely and factually based
education on the subject. On Sunday, April 17, 1864 Confederate forces, led by Brigadier General
Robert F. Hoke, attacked the Union Garrison at Plymouth. Plymouth was a port held by Union troops
which was critical in holding the Roanoke River. In the Civil War era, one of the most effective modes
of transmission for supplies was boat. Therefore, the Union s hold on the Roanoke River and
surrounding waterways proved to be a detriment to the Confederate supply lines. Not only was

Hannah, Samuel s mother, was barren for a long period of time, which inflicted a tremendous amount
of distress on her. One day Hannah decided to visit the temple to pray to the Lord. Eli, the temple
priest prophesied to Hannah that her desires to bear a child will be answered. It came to pass where

The GrainGoat has one major competitor. The Minibatt is a mini harvester, much like the GrainGoat.
The product harvests small grains such as wheat, barley, oats, rye, milo, canola, and medical plants or

provide an accurate yield estimate in less than five minutes. The creators of the Minibatt are currently

Role Of Havisham In Great Expectations
This dissertation explores the representation of Estella Havisham as the gothic Femme Fatale in
Dickens Great Expectations. I will examine how Estella Havisham was imagined in Dickens Great

These norms were influenced by various factors such as economy, domesticity, gender roles, religion,
imperialism, and much more. Amid the period symbolized by the rule of British ruler Queen Victoria,
women were not liable to have the right to sue, suffrage rights, or the right to own property. In the
meantime, women took part in the paid workforce in expanding numbers taking after the Industrial
Revolution. Feminist ideas spread among the informed female working classes, the women s suffrage
movement picked up force and discriminatory laws were cancelled in the last years of the Victorian
age. In the Victorian Era, women were thought as only fitting in with the domestic sphere and this
stereotype obliged them to limit themselves only to their household and raising children. Alex Owen
puts this Victorian ideal of woman in words as The categorisation of so called female virtues found its
expression in the sentimental and idealised notion of the spiritually refined angel in the house woman
as an angelic creature whose rightful sphere of influence was the home and domesticity (7). By
making domesticity seem desirable to the Victorian women they used such tools in order to keep them
behind doors. Owen further explains the Victorian feminine roles by pointing out, In analysing many
discourses which together constituted the Victorian ideology of femininity, including the domestic
literature written for, and often by, women, it becomes clear that perspective understanding was
underpinned by certain major constituents. Among the most important of these was the notion of
innate female passivity, a negative attribute constructed in opposition to so called masculine will
power. Along with this went the concepts of female frailty, constructed in opposition to a standard
masculine strength and virility; a moral and spiritual sensibility which acted as the

New York City Analysis
New York City is the place where a person can be intimate with thousands of people all at once,
without having to talk or interact with them at all. Whether a person is standing in a crowded subway
cart or simply walking around Times Squares or Grand Central, it is almost impossible to get around
the city without having to see or engage with another person. New York City blends the concepts of
privacy and intimacy, creating an environment where one can be immersed and connected, in what E.
B. White describes, as a compact arena comprising of gladiators, evangelists, actors, traders and
merchants, yet also feel separated, or apathetic, to the city and its inhabitants as well. Whether it is the
eighteen inches described by White or simply sitting next to a stranger on the subway, what makes
New York City iconic and different from other cities is how its residents a mixture of locals that grew
up in the city, the tourists that visit it, and newly arriving residents from across the world interact with
one another in respect to city life. If a person tries, he or she can avoid talking to anyone all day,
despite the multitudes of people he or she encounters. On the other extreme, he or she can also get the
numbers, or contact information, of hundreds of people as well. In this perspective, New York City has
not changed much since White wrote his book Here is New York New York City still represents and

Hopefully, bank loan is not the only source of funding available; friends and family savings may help
a business project too. Alternative finance methods are the peer to peer lending and the invoice
financing, the equity finance and the government grants. However, any prospected businessman has to
be really careful to choose the most appropriate funding body for its business since any source of
funding you may choose has different advantages and disadvantages. It seems that when people lack
any other source of financing, they ask their family or their close friends to contribute in order to
develop their business plans. According to Curran and Blackburn (1993), family loans account for
some 15 percent of start up finance, amongst ethic owned businesses in the UK, making it the largest
source of funds after the bank loans (Basu et al., 2013: 333). One good reason to finance your business
project in cooperation with your family or friends is the increased feeling of liability. This will
definitely help you to develop your own skills, responsibilities and a long standing character. On the
other hand, family finance can be a really dangerous option if momentous clashes suddenly appear
between family members. The family bank and family relationships will eventually be damaged or
destroyed (Babcock, 2013).

philosophical underpinnings suggest that change comes through political activism and even war and
revolution if peaceful means have failed. In addition, liberation theologians view sin as the root of
poverty and capitalism as the most ruinous form of sin on earth. Thus, Liberation Theologists argue
that capitalism should be confronted as pure evil and replaced by a more just and equitable socialist
system. The Pope unequivocally denounced these ideas as ideologically misguided. Many Nicaraguan
Catholics were disappointed with the Pope s position on political action because they felt like he

lived under years of tyranny and oppression at the hands of the conservative regime. And thousands of
innocent Nicaraguan citizens had suffered gross social injustices and even death at the hands of their

Global Warming as a Business Risk
Global warming has negative effects on industries. This means that this phenomenon should be
considered as forming part of the social and environmental risks that business firms needs to consider
in developing their business strategies. If not, businesses would find themselves unprepared for the
possible effects of global warming on their operations, profitability and even viability. In the case of
the tourism industry, tourism businesses would not be prepared to address the actualization of
problems caused by global warming if these firms do not understand the impact of this phenomenon
and include preventive plans and alternative solutions in case these effects are actualized. This is to
ensure the viability of tourism businesses or if not the shift in business strategy of these firms to adjust
to the market and industry changes brought about by the manifestations of global warming. Risk is the
probability that a particular adverse event occurs during a stated period of time, or results from a

Meditations is a collection of writings consisting of 12 books written by Marc Aurelius in the course
of his life in which by reminding himself he reminds us to be human, to practice empathy, humility,
kindness and to realize that time is short in this world and we should make the best of it.
While reading the book, we discover an emperor who was a simple man and who did put great
importance on his royal status. Instead, he was a man of plain tastes which shows him as being
humble and wise. The theme of the book is mainly focused on the nature of man and his place in the
universe. Marc Aurelius argues that everything comes into existence from nature and when things

The Pros And Cons Of Budget Cuts
Budget cuts are not a one time harm, they will continue to hurt students as they pursue higher
education. Funding is not just an issue among public schooling at the K 12 level, it is also an issue
many universities are facing. States are no longer giving colleges and universities the funding they
once had. Kathryn McNutt asserts that the severe funding cuts are only beginning at the K 12 level
and will expand further into the collegiate level. McNutt states, Sanders said state funding provides
less than 8 percent of the OU Health Sciences Center s $1 billion budget and less than 6 percent of the
College of Medicine s budget. Due to the lack of state funding colleges are looking for other types of

risk of losing popular programs at their schools which would cause a decrease within their enrollment.
Students are also at risk when faced with the possible loss of programs. Students enrolled in a program

Evaluating Rasmussen s Policies Of Academic Integrity
When reviewing Rasmussen s policies of academic integrity, the first very important step is to ensure
that each student is informed as well as equipped to take on the assignments that are asked of them. As
the instructor, it is important to continually make sure expectations are placed before the students in a
clear, understandable, and attainable manner. Additionally, that resources are made available to help
them meet these expectations.
The initial gut reaction to the quality of Bridget s assignments would be of shock and slightly insulted.
Considering her performance previously in class, this action from Bridget I would assume would have
been taken out of desperation. What is believed could possibly account for her action are several
situations. These situations could include, but not limited to, lack of time management, lack of
understanding, fear of the grade that she may ultimately receive in the class with the previous
mediocre quality, also simply not wanting to do the work. Additionally, there could have been a family
situation that resulted in Bridget not be able to complete the work. For these reasons continually
interaction with the students is very important. As the adjunct, through interaction with this student it
will be easier to determine the intention of Bridget.
Considering that it stats in the Rasmussen SOP Do NOT communicate to the student that they have
been accused of an Academic Integrity Violation , there will be limited to no communication with

Freud s Theory Of Personality Theory
Personality Theory Freud s theory
K.Arockia Maraichelvi
1. INTRODUCTION We human beings are the same in certain ways by having human bodies, human
minds, human thoughts and human feelings. But in many other ways every one of us are different
from others and possesses certain unique qualities. This is where the term personality sets in. The term
gains significance somewhere in between the common qualities and the unique features of the human
community as a whole and as an individual.
Personality does not have one final definition, but can be thought of as the combination of behaviour,
emotion, motivation and thought patterns that define an individual. The field of personality

The Importance Of Firearms In The United States
America is known as the land of the free. One of the many freedoms that Americans have is the right
to own guns. A well regulated Militia, being necessary of the security of a free State, the right of the
people to keep and bare Arms, shall not be infringed ( The Constitution of the United States,
Amendment II). The government has been, in recent years, pushing for harsh gun laws, but It is my in
my understanding, and opinion that all Americans should have the right to privately own firearms. The
rate of shootings in the pass ten years has increased greatly, encouraging the banning of firearms in
many states. In my opinion if we ban firearms completely it will not only, not affect the number of
guns being bought and sold privately or

In the short story, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James Thurber is about a man who gets through
his everyday life by daydreaming numerous amount of times. He daydreams of being a laudable pilot,
a millionaire banker, a marksman s, audacious WW2 pilot. Recently in class, we have studied the
benefits of daydreaming, and I will be explaining how Walter Mitty uses it to his advantage to get by
in his mundane life. First, Walter Mitty uses daydreaming by trying to recall previous thoughts and

Essay On Vertical Diplopia
vi. Binocular Single Vision and Diplopia Binocular single vision is achieved when an object from
same position in space stimulates corresponding points on the retina. This simultaneous stimulation of
corresponding retinal points results in the perception of viewing a single object with the two eyes. In
someone with normal retinal correspondence, diplopia occurs when an object being viewed stimulates
non corresponding parts of the retina. This results in the perception of two, disparate objects located in
different positions in space that are unable to be fused as one object (Greer, 2014). Ms. Bechler reports
she has been experiencing intermittent vertical diplopia for the past 3 months. Her recent onset of
transient diplopia indicates the diplopia may be secondary to a recent change in her ocular and/or
systemic health. C. Differential Diagnoses and Testing Orbital myositis, inflammation of the ... Show

The thyroid is responsible for maintaining the body s homeostatic functions including metabolic rate,
growth, and nervous system development. Normal thyroid function is regulated through the feedback
control of the hypothalamus anterior pituitary gland thyroid axis. The hypothalamus, which maintains
homeostasis, produces thyroid releasing hormone (TRH). TRH stimulates the anterior pituitary to
produce thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH aka thyrotropin). TSH acts on the thyroid gland, causing it
to produce the hormones, triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Both T3 and T3 act in a negative
feedback loop, with T3 inhibiting the hypothalamus, and T4 inhibiting the anterior pituitary gland
(Ota, 2016) . Thyroid follicular endothelial cells contain thyrotropin receptors. Antibodies against
thyrotropin receptors develop, stimulating receptors on these follicular endothelial cells, stimulating
excess production of thyroid hormone (Bahn, 2010). [See Figures 1 and

  • 3. Myth Gender Based Wage Gap Myth Gender Based Wage Gap Raaga Agraharam Soc 101 Introduction: On January 29, 2016, The White House Press Office released a FACT SHEET on new steps to advance equal pay for women. This FACT SHEET states that, the median wage of a woman working full time all year in the United States is about $39,600 only 79 percent of a man s median earnings of $50,400 (The White House, 2016). However, many scholars and economists disagree that a gender wage gap exists. In addition, conservative political experts and bloggers promote the notion that gender based wage gap is an idea propagated by feminists, women empowering organizations, and progressives. However, almost all the working women in the United States, and organizations such as Institute for Women s Policy Research (IRWP), and American Association of University Women (AAAU), strongly believe in the existence of the gender wage gap. This sociological issue of equal pay for women is extremely relevant in today s environment where women perform equal work as men in many occupations. Furthermore, with almost 50% of the work force being women, women contributing equally to the family income, and a large number of women being the single parents supporting children, lack of equal pay over time could increase the poverty rates for women (White House, 2016). In addition, IWPR s 2015 report on the status of American women, states that if women receive equal pay for the same work, poverty rate among women will see a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Cultural Differences Between British And British Culture Having been born in America, the American culture differs slightly from the British culture particularly due to the influence the British exerted on North Americans during the colonial period. Further, most of the Americans are immigrants from other countries, with most of the people coming from the United Kingdom and Ireland. The eminent cultural differences between the two cultures is that the behavior of people in the British culture are laid back while their American counterparts are more hectic and appear to be in a hurry. The British do not like to engage in conversations with strangers and tend to stick to their close friends while Americans are social to strangers in public places. While the British prefer pub food, the North Americans prefer fast foods. There are differences in the cuisine and dialect, which sets the two cultures apart. Further, in Britain people are more obsessed with soccer, tennis, and rugby while North Americans prefer baseball, basketball, hockey, and American football. On the roads, Americans keep right while British keep left. Americans show more passion in whatever they do compared to the British. One may say that the American culture is a ramification of the British culture since the history of the two countries is intertwined and shares a lot of similarities. The British are the forefounders of America and thus were instrumental in passing down some cultural practices to the Americans, for example, language and a common body of literature, wit, common law tradition, and the rule of law. Assignment 2: Cultural Competency: I have had a wrong impression of a Japanese student whom I met during a symposium and although I later regretted my mistake and sought to learn from it. I had formed a metal picture of the individual based on stereotypes I see on television and in the movies. Since the individual was short, I saw them as less attractive and had expected that they were less intelligent. However, when they had to present a point, I was left in awe as they were flawless and fluent in what they were explaining. That proved me wrong on my first impression of them. I had also made impressions on the student s accent and speech. Such showed that one tends to lean and like what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Gentrification In Houston Texas The Third Ward of Houston Texas is a historic district known mainly for two things being rich in African American history and its exceedingly high crime rates. While this part of town has always been a solid representation of African American culture when desegregation occurred all families that could afford to quickly moved to the wealthy parts of the city leaving the district nearly abandoned. Naturally following the abandonment of the district most businesses followed leaving low income residents with little to no job opportunities. A popular phenomenon that has arose recently in urban cities such as these (due to its raving success in cities such as Chicago) is gentrification. Gentrification is the renovation of these high crime low income areas in the hopes of creating a better neighborhood. However, one of the unforeseen side effects of gentrification is the displacement of the low income residents who can no longer afford to live in this nicer neighborhood. Gentrification specifically in Houston Texas is a tool that is may seem valuable however it often disrupts lives, displaces families, and destroys cultures. ... This helps minimize negative impact to the surface/ground water reservoirs in two different ways. One, this reduces the risk of algal blooms in the surface waters. Algal blooms occur due to the excess amount of nutrients in the water, causing eutrophication. Eutrophication causes huge plant and algae growth because of the increased amount of nutrients. Then the plants and algae die and bacteria causes the plants/algae to decompose, using up dissolved oxygen. This results in a lack of oxygen, hypoxia and anoxia, in the water. Therefore, many organisms such as the fish die due to the lack of dissolved oxygen in the water. Two, this increases the potential of infiltration. Water flows from impermeable areas like buildings to the settling pond where it can infiltrate into the ground. Rip rap is the surface cover of the water retention pond. Rip rap creates channels for water to flow through, giving its high infiltration rate. Even though most of the water would be drained by the drainage pipes, some would be infiltrated into the soil. Another water control feature is having a vegetative surface cover on the hillsides of the venue. As seen in Figure 2, grass, a vegetative cover, covers the southern hill and trees cover the northern hill. The vegetation stabilizes the soil, preventing erosion and gulleys. The vegetative surface cover on the hillsides also increases the potential for infiltration. Grass has a high infiltration rate because the roots and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Middle Ages, Europeans started cooking cookies for Christmas. Christmas cookies were defined by cut outs and molds brought over to Europe by the Dutch. The first American Christmas cookie is documented by Amelia Simmons, who wrote American Cookery. The very first cookey had flour, coriander seed, butter, sugar, pearlash and milk. A far cry from what Americans have come to know and love as the Christmas Cookie. By 1924, the ingredients had started to change to what Americans know as butter, eggs, sugar, flour and milk. This can also be seen in Season 1 when Maxxies best friend Anwar refuses to tell his parents about Maxxies sexuality due to their religious beliefs. We see that Maxxie is torn between who he is and whom Anwar wants him to be and this puts the friendship under great strain resulting in Maxxie refusing to turn up to Anwars party. Numerous theories like Social Disorganization, Labeling Theory, and Strain Theory have been created to try to explain the connection between poverty and crime. This is done in order to engender pity and sympathy towards Tom Robinson in the courtroom and thus motivate the jury to return an innocent verdict. Atticus uses a combination of convincing and logical evidence, but is also very passionate as he is not doing this as a lip service. He was doing this, as he could not live with himself if he did not do his best to defend Tom Robinson despite the chances of winning the court case. The use of emotive language and well reasoned arguments makes the case more persuasive and plausible. Atticus is rather astute in showing compassion for Mayella, this shows honesty and integrity in his character therefore the jury is more inclined to believe him over the witnesses. Atticus makes a direct plea to the jury but he does this on a personal level. Atticus pauses to create more impact as it is dramatically effective as it focuses our attention to the truth. Atticus throws the burden of blame on Mayella making her culpable of the crime that happened and not his client. He uses repetition to emphasise his case and evidence. Atticus s tone becomes increasing aggressive and uncompromising however, he remains courteous and dignified throughout. • 12. Analysis Of Waiting For Godot Throughout Samuel Beckett s Waiting For Godot, a deceptively simplistic tale of two men waiting for the arrival of a seemingly divide entity uncovers the truth of mankind s existence. Estragon and Vladimir, the two protagonists, are stuck in a vicious cycle of hopeful waiting, only to find that Godot, the mysteriously omnipresent and omniscient being in the play, never arrives. While they patiently anticipate his arrival, they encounter a type of bondage that illustrates the very significance of insignificance as illustrated through Pozzo and his human slave, Lucky. All four characters are destined to acknowledge the nonexistence of life itself, each being on his own path to a sacred state of endless acceptance that is ultimately reflective of mankind in its entirety. The ritualistic waiting illustrated by Vladimir and Estragon is a portrayal of how mankind s attempts to accept meaninglessness are futile due to a nebulous force that constantly drives the characters. Unlike Pozzo and Lucky, Vladimir and Estragon essentially cannot leave the stage of life because they continually embrace the notion of hope associated with the eventual arrival of the God like Godot: VLADIMIR: Well? What do we do? ESTRAGON: Don t let s do anything. It s safer. VLADIMIR: Let s wait and see what he says. ESTRAGON: Who? VLADIMIR: Godot. ESTRAGON: Good idea. As imagined, the pain felt from this is excruciating, therefore earning the name unhappy or terrible triad. Being a very common injury in contact sports, the background, characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of the unhappy triad are all essential to understanding this injury. The unhappy triad, also known as blown knee , terrible triad , or O Donoghue triad , is named after Dr DH O Donoghue, an American orthopaedic surgeon who described this injury back in 1950. This injury includes full or partial tears of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), the Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL), and a meniscus. The unhappy triad happens to about 25% of athlete s knee injuries. The unhappy triad is a very common sports injury, especially in contact sports where the knee can often be hit. It is thought to be the most common knee injury in football and can occur when the knee is clipped during a tackle. Normally, the unhappy triad occurs when the foot is planted and the knee is hit and pushed in another direction. This causes the ligaments and tendons to tear and rip, thus causing the terrible or unhappy triad. The most common and serious thing that happens to cause a unhappy triad starts with the ACL. They achieved many firsts, but were never able to send men to the moon; it seems logical, then, that this feat must have been beyond the Americans as well. However, after book one we moved on: we looked at parallelograms, circles. They came back in book four, but were lost again as we ascended to the abstract concepts of same ratios and equimultiples. In book six, however, we are once again confronted with our old friend but in a new yet familiar way. We begin comparing similar triangles rather than equal triangles, and start paying more attention to the way the figure and its boundaries relate. Thus, in book six the triangle becomes the fundamental shape of similarity and helps us bind figures and ratios together, a fact shown in the overarching progression of book six. The seminal function of the triangle is allowing us access to the concept of similarity. This may seem odd, since similar triangles do not arise until proposition twenty, where we prove they have a duplicate ratio to their sides. However, proposition three through eight ... Instead, a story of Southern heroism and defiance to federal government is passed down through the generations. This leaves the local people with a biased collective memory and with scarcely and factually based education on the subject. On Sunday, April 17, 1864 Confederate forces, led by Brigadier General Robert F. Hoke, attacked the Union Garrison at Plymouth. Plymouth was a port held by Union troops which was critical in holding the Roanoke River. In the Civil War era, one of the most effective modes of transmission for supplies was boat. Therefore, the Union s hold on the Roanoke River and surrounding waterways proved to be a detriment to the Confederate supply lines. Not only was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Samuel is a prophet of the Lord, and these initial chapters describe the story of how he was led to become a prophet. Samuel s parents were faithful believers. Hannah, Samuel s mother, was barren for a long period of time, which inflicted a tremendous amount of distress on her. One day Hannah decided to visit the temple to pray to the Lord. Eli, the temple priest prophesied to Hannah that her desires to bear a child will be answered. It came to pass where Hannah bore Samuel, and joyfully offered him as a nazirite for all time to remain in the presence of the Lord forever (**). After Samuel was ... Amid the period symbolized by the rule of British ruler Queen Victoria, women were not liable to have the right to sue, suffrage rights, or the right to own property. In the meantime, women took part in the paid workforce in expanding numbers taking after the Industrial Revolution. Feminist ideas spread among the informed female working classes, the women s suffrage movement picked up force and discriminatory laws were cancelled in the last years of the Victorian age. In the Victorian Era, women were thought as only fitting in with the domestic sphere and this stereotype obliged them to limit themselves only to their household and raising children. Alex Owen puts this Victorian ideal of woman in words as The categorisation of so called female virtues found its expression in the sentimental and idealised notion of the spiritually refined angel in the house woman as an angelic creature whose rightful sphere of influence was the home and domesticity (7). By making domesticity seem desirable to the Victorian women they used such tools in order to keep them behind doors. Owen further explains the Victorian feminine roles by pointing out, In analysing many discourses which together constituted the Victorian ideology of femininity, including the domestic literature written for, and often by, women, it becomes clear that perspective understanding was underpinned by certain major constituents. Among the most important of these was the notion of innate female passivity, a negative attribute constructed in opposition to so called masculine will power. Thus, Liberation Theologists argue that capitalism should be confronted as pure evil and replaced by a more just and equitable socialist system.
