gender equality, good and flexible work organization permitting better reconciliation of working and
personal life, lifelong learning, health and safety at work, employee involvement and diversity in
working life. (2012) . In an article The Fortune 100 and their Fitness and Wellness Programs, we can
find the examples of such managerial attitude. For instance, Walmart provides its 1.1 million
associates and family members with health care plans with access to affordable, comprehensive
medical coverage. Exxon Mobil fitness discount program allows employees, retirees and their families
to join top rated health clubs at substantially discounted rates (2015). Creating a safe workplace is a
matter of great importance. Abraham Maslow defines safety needs as security... and freedom from
fear, from anxiety and chaos. He argues that practically everything looks less important than safety
and protection (1954, p.39). Unfortunately, job security has become an issue today. Dorie Clark cites
in her article the words of Jacob Morgan, a co founder of the Future of Work Community, Job security
is a complete myth, as is long term employment. Companies lay off employees in droves...by the
thousands! They just make sweeping cuts when they need to (2014). Evidently, job insecurity
negatively affects job satisfaction. Some studies suggest that living with job insecurity the fear of
losing your job can be more harmful to your health than actually losing it (n.d.) Therefore,

Fear Has Been Tricking The Mind Research Paper
Fear Has Been Tricking the Minds of People From the Start of Time Do you enjoy fear? Fear has been
challenging the minds of humans since the beginning of time. All people can enjoy fear, and highly
despise fear as well. Fear is the nauseating feeling of caused by the belief that something or something
is out to harm you. Fright actually keeps us alive because it keeps our brain active and alert of our
surroundings at all times. Horror is contagious; most of our fear is not caused by us, but instead it is
caused by watching other people s reactions. The thin line between truth and make believe are
obscured when one is frightened of the unknown.
Fantasy overcomes logic when we let our brain run wild with irrational thoughts,

Stanley Kubrick s Full Metal Jacket
Stanley Kubrick s Full Metal Jacket begins with a dramatic, and kind of comedic, portrayal of U.S.
boot camp training during the Vietnam War era, an era where people were drafted for the military. The
obese and clumsy Private Pyle struggles to cope with the physical and mental pressures of military
training and the drill instructor, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, shows no empathy for his struggles.
When the platoon exercises with obstacles, Private Pyle fails to climb the dirty name obstacle because
of his obesity, but Hartman continuously berates and screams at him for his failure saying your ass
looks like about a hundred and fifty pounds of chewed bubble gum (Full Metal Jacket). It doesn t stop
there: too unfit to do a pull up, Pyle is called a worthless piece of shit (Full Metal Jacket). Finally,
when Pyle is unable to keep running, Hartman asks were you born a fat slimy scumbag, you piece of
shit, Private Pyle? Or did you have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider Atul Gawande and his notes on an imperfect science with Education of a Knife. Gawande is
trapped in a dilemma where lives are at stake, but there is no perfect solution. Gawande discusses an
issue that has been glued to surgical training for ages. As a resident surgeon, he has encountered many
struggles in trying to perform procedures on his patients. He starts by recounting when he was
assisting a surgeon was first injecting a patient using a syringe: The patient yelped in pain from
Gawande s inexperience with the syringe. This pain is actually essential for the medical profession.
Resident surgeons need to practice on real people in order to become the surgeons they seek to be. As
Gawande puts it: like the guy who fixes hard drives, we need to practice to get good at what we do.
There is one difference in medicine, though: it is people we practice upon (Gawande

Prostitution As Social And Legal Issues
Literature Reviews:
A) Introduction
This section reviews several literatures considering prostitution and prostitutes as social and legal
issues. It firstly examines concisely the historical and traditional prostitution discourses in course of
developing law on prostitution in the United Kingdom, their (these discourses) influences contributed
to contemporary approaches socially and legally. Regarding the discriminating facts on prostitution
and its legalization from media representations, the final part will investigate how does contemporary
media interpret the prevalent negative discourses (victim or offenders grounded) of prostitution as a
legal and social issue.
B) Prostitution and its legislative development in the United Kingdom
In order to comprehend the tension between social controlled morality and prostitution in British
historic context, and the historical discourses leading to current legal situation in the United Kingdom,
this text relies heavily on the studies of Aspevig (2011) and Begum (2013); the former is about fact
and fiction of prostitution and the latter relates to the significance of regulating prostitution in the
United Kingdom. Both studies similarly emphasized on legal and social discourses on prostitution,
instead of grounded on causes of issues tended to root from sexualized morality discourse. Women in
prostitution are particularly and historically accused of transmitting contagious sexual diseases,
appraised as sexual offenders and

2.1 INSTUTIONS FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT
The evolution in institutes and association in project management had Initial activities concentrated on
information exchange and project practices but soon expanded into the area of certification. The
requirement for certification standardization by the associations first PMI in USA, and later APM in
UK, developed their own reference documents. The first version of its (Guide to the) Project

national project management associations produced their own versions, in some cases quite different
from PMI‟s. these BOKs were developed over the period 1976 2001 [Morris et al 2006]. PMI became
the primary basis of certification program in the mid 1980 s with further updates in the upcoming
years. On the other hand, Professional Standards Group (PSG) of UK Association of project managers
(APM) leads to development of APM s body of knowledge. The content of APM s BOK was dictated
by APM certification programmer, which made document to be the bedrock from which aspects of
education and training of project managers are addressed. By questioning individuals in various

Aristotle s Impact On Macbeth
Aristotle had quite a few remarks on the idea and thought of character, especially in genres such as
tragedies. In Aristotle s opinion, a variety of aspects makes a tragedy, a tragedy, such as the
incorporation of a tragic figure who happens to have a tragic flaw that leads to the character s demise.
He also believes that a tragedy should have what is known as a dramatic irony, which occurs when the
audiences knows information the characters in the play does not, thus changing the watcher s
perception of the overall story. However, even when Aristotle s expectations of tragedies are oddly
specific, it is generally applicable to other tragedies of literary merit, such as stories from Shakespeare
and provides an insight as to how the taste and social structure of the ancient Greek times was
influenced heavily by the contemporary tragedies.
Aristotle s statements and definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Macbeth, the tragic hero would definitely be Macbeth himself who had one fateful flaw that
determined his future: his unchecked ambition. Due to this one tragic flaw in the makings, Macbeth
went from a bright future as king to his demise, which eventually lead to his death. Because of the
events that occurred in the latter half of Macbeth s life, the play evokes pity, albeit a little undeserved,
from the audience as Macbeth accepts his doom. Furthermore, the playwright elicits fear from the
watchers, which is caused by their fear of committing the same mistake as Macbeth. Aristotle believed
that inciting fear and pity from the audience is part of what makes a tragedy, a tragedy. To strengthen
the impact of the play, dramatic irony is employed, in which the audience can hear monologues
spoken by the actors about their actions. This thus changes the audience s perception of a character s

Serial Killer
When you hear the words serial killer, you instantly think about people like Jeffrey Dahmer, Ed Gein,
Ted Bundy, or Charles Manson. You don t think about a family man with a wife and two children,
county board member, President of the church congregation council, or a Cub Scout leader. Dennis
Rader possessed all of these shining attributes. He also possessed a dark secret. This secret had
festered in him from an early age and grew as he got older. Dennis Rader had fantasies about bondage,
control, and torture which eventually led to murder. Rader s reign of terror began in 1977 and ended
with his capture in 2005, almost 30 years later. He labeled his victims as projects . He hunted his prey
in stages he described as the trolling stage and stalking stage . He even called the tools used for his
trade his hit kit . Dennis Rader was a stone cold killer who had no plans of stopping.
The letters BTK stands for Bind, Torture and Kill , which was Rader s mode of operation and a name
he gave to himself. Throughout the years and in numerous communications with the police, he talked
about his need for acknowledgment. In the 1990 s BTK had disappeared from sight when, without
explanation, he re emerged in 2004. This re emergence was more than likely due to his need for
acknowledgment or public attention. In 2004, Rader started sending multiple letters, clues, and photos
to the authorities that led to his capture and arrest in 2005.

Worshipping Of Eros
David Lurie s worshipping of Eros keeps him from recognizing the guilt of his actions and he uses his
beliefs to justify his bad behavior throughout Disgrace. His beliefs help him to defend his approach to
attaining personal satisfaction, sexual release, autonomy and passion. Lurie is very condescending of
women and sees them as a way to solve the problem of sex rather than as an equal. He shows a
prejudice towards women who do not attempt to make themselves look appealing and he sees himself
as a predator of the women of which he is intimate. He is extremely passionate about poetry but shows
no enthusiasm while teaching, especially when he is forced to teach introductory communication
courses. Lurie decides to resign from teaching at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eros is said to be charming and handsome but was described by the poet Sappho as being bitter sweet
and sometimes cruel to his victims. Eros would shoot arrows from a bow into the hearts of mortals and
other gods to give them feeling of love and desire for another. Eros was mischievous and would
wound as many hearts as he could. Eros was later borrowed by the Romans and is more commonly
known as cupid. Lurie worshipped Eros and used his beliefs to serve his own purpose, especially his
sexual release. Lurie s beliefs served as a justification for his attitude towards women and his sexual
behavior. Lurie believes in the first chapter that he has solved the problem of sex rather well. He has
found this solution in a female prostitute with the working name of Soraya that he meets every
Thursday for a ninety minute session. Their relationship is purely professional for Soraya. Lurie can
be compared to Soraya in that both are detached and not intimate in their jobs. Lurie says that he was
never a good teacher but when he is forced to teach something that he hates, he can no longer reach
his students. Soraya ends her meetings with Lurie when he crosses the line by watching her one day
with her children. After his affair with Soraya comes to an end, Lurie must find another woman to
satisfy his sexual needs. He then notices Melanie Isaacs in his class and is mildly smitten by her even

Video Game Music Essay
The History of Video Game Music
In America, video game music is seen as one of the lowest forms of entertainment and its composers
are obscure and unknown to most of those who play the games, while in Japan, it is a major
component of their popular culture, and composers such as Koji
Kondo are treated like famed celebrities. Game music is still not widely considered an art form, and
yet the compositions have become as complex and sophisticated as arrangements for film and
television.
In 1958, engineer William Higginbotham at the National Laboratory made the very first video game
called Tennis for Two. In 1963, MIT student Steve Russell programmed the game Spacewar. In 1972,
Magnavox released the very first home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

5200 home console2, the Pokey chip used four separate channels which controlled the pitch, volume,
and distortion values of each, allowing a four piece virtual band to perform for the first time. In 1983
the advent of MIDI
(Musical Instrument Digital Interface) allowed for composers to use up to 128 different timbres with
16 separate tracks, all without taking up precious memory space. Composer
Bobby Prince of the Id software company employed midi files in the popular Commander
Keen series. (Episodes four through six) The only problem with MIDI is that the quality of the music
varies with different sound cards. 2
In 1985, Nintendo released their first console, the Nintendo Entertainment
System. (NES). Although manufacturing was discontinued in 1995, Nintendo experienced enormous
popularity; 50 million consoles and 350 million games were sold. 2 Nintendo was talented at offering
difficult challenges for one s hand eye coordination, providing quality soundtracks, fast game play,
and a fun and exciting plotline that makes you want to play the game again and again. 2 An example
of such music is Battletoads. It s all about some toads that like to get into fights, and there are two

Explaining And Discussing Dante s Vision Of Hell
Explaining and Discussing Dante s Vision of Hell in The Inferno Dante s explanation of Hell has
fascinated many individuals by the way it is explained, and more than likely made many use their
mind and overthink it. When readers confront The Inferno, they might be surprised or blown minded
by the way Dante explains what he went through. Many people after reading this might have changed
their way of thinking of Hell because of Dante s lecture, or maybe some still thought the same. Not
everyone thinks that there is a heaven nor a hell, everyone has different believes depending on their
culture and most importantly their religion. Religion is what makes people decide what they believe in
and what not to believe in. When Dante passes through the gates of Hell he knew right away it was
trouble without a doubt, he explains that there is different levels in Hell depending on what that
individual might have done on earth. Virgil is the one who leads Dante into the Gates of Hell, as soon
as Dante enters he then hears countless cries from the many souls that lived on earth and lived their
lives without being aware of their moral choices. Virgil leads Dante to Acheron, which was a river,
and it marks the border of Hell according to the book. Across it there will be many dead souls waiting
to be crossed. Charon was an old man who recognizes Dante and tells him to stay away from the dead

Rappaccini s Daughter And The Birthmark Short Story
In his short stories Rappaccini s Daughter and The Birthmark author Nathaniel Hawthorne explores
the limitations of humanity and the ability to achieve perfection. Humans are always striving to
advance and evolve, forever chasing after this idea of perfection. Part of humanity is always wanting
to do better, to have more. In Hawthorne s short stories, the two main characters are both scientists
who make an attempt at creating perfection. Hawthorne epitomizes the unattainable pursuit of
perfection sought after by humans and subsequently, the overeagerness of humans to attempt to play
god. In reality this desire to have complete perfection is an unattainable goal that humans can only
aspire to. In the pursuit of perfection, the greatest risk is to become too caught up in perfection and to
then lose the ethics and morality of humanity. The pursuit of perfection can cause an obsession with
perfection so that the pursuer becomes discontented with what they are physically able to attain. In the
short story The Birthmark scientist Aylmer imposes his pursuit of perfection onto his fiancee when he
attempts to remove a small birthmark from her otherwise beautiful appearance. Aylmer is unable to be
content with his wife and feels that he must remove the birthmark in order for her to become beautiful.
His displeasure with the birthmark increases even further as he becomes more and more unsettled by
the mark. Aylmer s wife Georgiana, who is initially unperturbed by the mark, is

Socrates Real Person
Was Socrates Really a Real Person?
(A discussion of how Socrates was influential and intriguing using Plato s Republic) To learn about
the past, people in today s society often consult the internet or history books. To an extent, all we
know about the past is from what we have read or heard, so what is actually truth, and what is just a
captivating story. Scholars believe that some people from history are just made up to portray ideals or
tell a story with an important message. Socrates was a real man, but some scholars believe that some
of Socrates beliefs are truly just Plato, his student, writing things and saying that Socrates believed in
them. The world today has virtually no idea whether Socrates believed everything that is recorded in
Plato s Republic. Socrates, as portrayed in Plato s Republic, is extremely intriguing because of the
way he communicates with people with his sarcasm and use of his Socratic method to teach. In Plato s
Republic, Socrates is portrayed as a man who answers everything in a way that avoids actually
answering any questions. Socrates wants the people he is talking with to think for themselves so he
never gives a definitive answer when asked a question. Instead of talking clearly, Socrates talks with
thick sarcasm. Holding a conversation with someone is a sort of game to Socrates, so almost
everything he says is shrouded with sarcasm and double meanings. Why does Socrates play with
people s minds with sarcasm and intrigue? Socrates was

Negative Effects Of Sweatshops
Would you ever purposely go to a place where you would feel unsafe and uncomfortable? Imagine
having no other option but having to go to that place everyday because there was no other alternative?
Well that is the case for people in developing countries that work in factories, better known as
sweatshops making products for big name brands. They have to go to a work environment where they
do not feel safe nor comfortable everyday while the factory owners willing know this and don t do
anything about it. The workers for these companies go to earn a wage that they are not able to live off
of. Most of the facilities in which these workers make products are buildings that are unsafe.
Buildings without proper ventilation, and most of the products that are constructed at these facility
have to be dyed with hazardous chemicals that give off dangerous fumes. In the film The True Cost
one of the scenes of the inside of one of the factories there is a mom working while her baby was
laying on the ground below her. This image is speaks loud. It screams unsafe, and unfair. Moms who
are workers for these factories shouldn t have to be placed through this while their managers know this
is happening they do nothing about it. In 2013 a factory building that was located in the Savar Upazila
in the Dhaka District in Bangladesh collapsed killing more than one thousand workers. This is a

Information is, in fact, our most precious resource. In such a world, education should empower
everyone, not the few. But for information to become knowledge, and ultimately, one hopes, wisdom,
it must be organized. In this new climate, the public interest challenge, beyond access and equity is
sorting and selection (Boyer, 1997, p. 140). We are outfitting our schools, libraries, and homes with
electronic technologies. But are we preparing students for the onslaught of information that is
provided by these technologies. What happens when students get more information from the internet
and than previously conveyed by their teachers or textbooks? What should a student do when faced
with so many informational possibilities? This is where information literacy establishes it s important

Essay Compare And Contrast Jamestown And John Smith
Two men came to America with a organization of people on a ship to set up their own colony. Both of
them had a goal and a reason for coming to the new world. When both of them came to set up a
colony they had high hopes. They soon realized it would be a struggle to survive and had to endure a
lot when they decided to come to the new world. They were not exactly the same though and had
some differences and came to the new world for contrasting reasons. Jamestown was settled by the
Virginia Company and Captain John Smith, who was the leader and was one of the reasons why
Jamestown was able to endure and withstand in such difficult circumstances. In Smith s narrative but

Misconceptions Caused By The Astronauts In Space
Have a space race between private companies to get a human around Jupiter and back to earth. The
story is told from the perspective of the astronauts in the spacecraft and it will incorporate how the
long term effects of space travel change them physical and mentally. Astronauts who are in space for
long periods of time face many dangers to their physical and mental health. Long periods of
weightlessness can weaken bone structures, facilitate loss of muscle mass and dampen the immune
response. [1] On top of that, astronauts in space are confined to small enclosed living quarters and
have to see the same people everyday. However, NASA, ESA and other organizations have studied
these problems and have come up with methods to mitigate these hazards. Astronauts on the ISS still

In reality, the force of gravity is about 89% as strong at the ISS compared to the surface of earth [2].
The weightless that the astronauts feel is not because of reduced gravitational force from earth, but
because the ISS is in free fall. While in freefall, the astronauts and the ISS feel the same downward
acceleration toward earth and fall at the same rate. So, although the astronauts experience the same
force from the earth, they experience weightlessness because they are constantly falling towards earth.
One problem common to long term space flight is decreased structural integrity within the skeletal

The Work Of A Mercenary
The job of a mercenary, fighting a war or performing some sort of military duty, for pay, without
nationalist allegiance, has been a job ...since the dawn of warfare, from Xenophon s ten thousand
Greeks hired to fight in Persia to the Swiss Guards who protect the Vatican today (Blood and
Treasure). Simply put, Mercenaries are nothing new. However only in the last 60 or so years has a
new, modern form of mercenary work come into practice. Modern mercenaries today often function in
the form of a Private Military Corporation or PMC. These are corporations that train and deploy often
elite fighting forces to fulfill contracts paid for by various clients, most of the time governments.
These corporations are rather controversial for a number ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After successfully using Private Military Companies in Vietnam, the United States continued their use,
doling out contracts to corporations during the later Cold War Era. During this time many United State
PMCs were tied to tasks too dirty for the U.S. government. (Avant) The use of private military
companies has continued ever since and has only grown in scale. Other than the size of the Industry,
not much has changed in PMCs. They still receive funding mainly from their clients, who are often
national governments, and from their investors if they are publicly held corporations. In terms of the
size of the market, the PMC market was expected to grow in net revenue from $55.6 billion to $202
billion between the years of 1990 and 2010. These predictions had merit especially in the 90s when
the stock value of public PMCs grew two times faster than the Dow Jones Industrial Average (Avant).
Since their inception private military companies have claimed to provide services of elite and precise
military force for nations and organizations; these organizations claim that they are better suited for
the job than a military and they do not shy away from the fact that they are motivated entirely by
money. Erik Prince comes to the defence of PMCs, as he is the founder and CEO of perhaps the best
known PMC in the world, Blackwater. He says on the matter of

Rejection In East Of Eden
In the book East of Eden there are several characters who receive paternal rejection or feel like they
are being rejected. When feeling paternal rejection it causes them do things and act certain ways
because they re not getting the care and attention they need from that important person. When a person
is rejected from his parents or from an important person that they look up to they are forced to make
decisions and choices that they think are correct, that s why whenever you hear of a psychopath they
re usually abandoned by their parents. In the bible there is a story about two boys named Cain and
Abel. One day, the two brothers bring sacrifices to God. Cain offers grain from his fields, while Abel
offers the fattest portion of his flocks. God favored Abel s gift over Cain s gift. God showed Abel
more appreciation for the gift he gave him, leaving Cain by himself feeling hopeless and jealous about

Economic And Political Causes Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution was a war between Britain and the thirteen colonies in North America.
Beginning in 1650, Britain began to govern and restrict the colonists in America by compelling them
to obey the Navigation Acts. Between 1650 and 1776, many more constraints were placed on the
colonists and they finally united and protested against their native country. Parliamentary taxation,
restriction of civil freedoms, and the remnant of political ideas all had a role in the incitement of the
American Revolution. There were several causes of the American Revolution, which included,
economic reasons, political reasons, establishment to certain acts, etc.
The first main cause was the Great War for Empire of 1754 1796. It is often referred to as the Seven
Years War though it really lasted nine years. This was a war between the British and French. This war
caused King George III to lose an enormous amount of money. Parliament quickly replace salutary
neglect with imperial administration (A. 133). The enactment the Currency Act of 1764 barred
colonies from using paper money as legal tender. The Currency Act ensured that merchants would be
paid in good money, boosting their profits and British wealth. (A. 135)

Competitive Strategy Of Samsung
Samsung electronics has come a long way from being the world s leader in semiconductors to
becoming a top competitor in the mobile handheld industry. Samsung s dynamic capability
frameworks and resources allowed the company to gain competitive advantage and achieve growth in
many different markets. Some of these capabilities and resources that led Samsung s success include;
the ability to recognize opportunity through a visionary management team, intense acquisition of
technology and learning, product and process innovation, a fluid manufacturing and assembly system
and the ability to develop partnerships and joint ventures. In the midst of the global financial crisis, the
Korean currency s value, won, had fallen tremendously. Samsung s management team saw this as an
opportunity to start outsourcing from China, where they manufactured LCDs and Mobiles for a
fraction of the price. By 2011, Samsung had the largest Mobile share in China. They decided that by
moving out they would understand the surrounding markets (Zahou, 2015). Chairman Lee

Essay on The Crawling Module and Web Pages
With the first one, a collection can have various copies of web pages grouped according to the crawl
in which they were found. For the second one, only the most recent copy of web pages is to be saved.
For this, one has to maintain records of when the web page changed and how frequently it was
changed. This technique is more efficient than the previous one but it requires an indexing module to
be run with the crawling module. The authors conclude that an incremental crawler can bring brand
new copies of web pages more quickly and maintain the storage area fresher than a periodic crawler.

IV. PROPOSED WORK
The functioning of Web crawler [10] is beginning with a set of URLs which is called as seed URLs.
They download web pages with the help of seed URLs and take out new links which is present in the
downloaded pages. The retrieved web pages are stored and well indexed on the storage area so that by
the help of these indexes they can later be retrieved as and when required. The URLs which is
extracted from the downloaded web page are confirmed to know whether their associated documents
have already been downloaded or not. If associated document are not downloaded, the URLs are again
allocated to web crawlers for further downloading. The same process is repeated till no more URLs
are missing for downloading. Millions of web pages are downloaded daily by a crawler to complete
the target. Fig. 1 illustrates the proposed crawling processes.

Tracking Is An Assault On Liberty By Nicholas Carr
In the essay, Tracking Is an Assault on Liberty by Nicholas Carr, he argues the importance of privacy
when one is surfing the web. Carr writes how companies personalize ads they provide on the internet
based on our personal information. We are not aware of the consequences and the information we
disclose about ourselves on the internet. Everything we do on the internet is recorded and stored.
Nicholas Carr uses ethos and counter argument/refutation to express to his audience that their privacy
is being violated. Carr utilizes ethical appeals to identify to his readers that he/she has a right to their
own privacy and how companies and organizations are violating it. He strengthens his ethical appeal
and argument by collecting ample evidence from professionals in the field. Carr writes, ...the
computer consultant Tom Owad... wrote a simple piece of software that allowed him to download
public wish lists that Amazon.com customers post to catalog products that they plan to purchase...Mr.
Owad ended up with maps of the United States showing the locations of people interested in particular
books and ideas... (Carr 437). Carr uses an expert to enhance his argument and provide a credible
source. The greater a person s authority, the more likely an audience is inclined to listen and be
persuaded. By putting an expert s research on his essay, Carr s audience will be convinced which will
lead them to trust him more. Another example where Carr uses an expert s opinion is when he notes,
As the computer security expert Bruce Schneier has observed, privacy is not just a screen we hide
behind when we do something naughty or embarrassing; privacy is intrinsic to the concept of liberty.
When we feel that we re always being watched, we begin to lose our sense of self reliance and free
will and, along with it, our individuality (Carr 439). Carr uses Scheiner s, a computer security expert,
to tell his readers how one feels when they feel like they lost their privacy. Car uses reasoned
argument by stating series of statements that use evidence and reasoning to support his claim.
Carr also uses counterargument/refutations to influence the readers that our personal datas may fall in
the wrong hands. He writes, You have

Plato And Aristotle s Views On Life And Political Regime
Western philosophy s origins can be traced back to the ideas of Greek philosophers Aristotle and
Plato. Aristotle and Plato were philosophers who lived in Athens, Greece who critically studied
matters of human life, political rule, human nature, and therefore wrote on the subjects. Plato s ideals
are theoretically based and although Aristotle was one of his students his thoughts and ideas are more
practical and biologically orientated than Plato s ideals. Although Plato and Aristotle have similar
ideas on ideal human life and political regime there approach on both is distinct, since Aristotle
focuses more on developmental and practical forms of life and Plato strives to proclaim the ideal
forms although they may be unattainable. An ideal purpose or function exists for individuals in both
Plato s and Aristotle s conceptualizations of mankind. This ideal purpose is called a telos, and every
human being has a telos to live up to. According to The Republic written by Plato the soul consists of
three parts: reason, spirit and appetite. (Plato p. 130: 435 b c; p. 135: 440 e) Each person is governed
by one of the three components of their soul and it ultimately determines their role in society.
Individuals with a soul that is dominated by reason are the only ones that are rational and those who
spirit or appetite rule there body are deemed as irrational. The component of reason in the soul is the
rational part which is wise and rules the spirited and appetitive

Gran Torino Ethos
We have seen Clint Eastwood many times before Gran Torino. Over a long career, he has portrayed
many distinctive roles that have included cowboys, police officers and boxing managers. Even though
the roles differed in time and place, they were often characterized by a strong sense of independence
and commitment to seeing difficult challenges through to the end. The end often meant the death of
villains. Eastwood s many roles have created an Eastwood ethos, or philosophy, that his fans have
been able to count on in each movie, no matter their genre or historical context. Gran Torino is a

The scenes occur mostly in and around Walt s and Thao s homes over the course of a film. Editors
often use fade ins and fade outs to indicate changes in time, especially when the locations remain the
same. The editors used straight cuts rather than fades in expressing its story. In the scene when Walt
tells Thao to dig up a neighbour s tree, the editor uses various alternating scenes of Walt smoking and
watching while Thao digs in the rain. The cameras shots of Walt and Thao are separated by various
dissolves. What gives the film its strength is the way Eastwood shows Walt struggling with his
prejudices and coming to terms with a changing world and with his inner demons, many of the latter
stemming from the horrors he witnessed in the Korean War. Finally, it turns into a kind of modern
western, with Walt preparing for a finale. At the end of the film I have picked up a flaw and it appears

First piece of word choice used by The Telegraph View I have chosen to write about is stigma which
has connatations of branded, label, shame and disgrace. This shows us that people dont know the true
meaning of mental health and think firstly of the sterotypes that come with it like its just all based
around the same thing which has made is gain a very negative label or brand which is not the case and
also it gives an impression that people dont really think about mental health that much and dont take it
as serious as it should be taken. rife has connotations of common, global and normal. This shows us
that having anxiety is normal and common to many people around the world and is not unusual as
many people will have or will suffer from this during their lifetime. Finally my last example of word
choice is disorientates which has connotations of lost and confused. This shows us that the writer is
describing technology in the present day as they think it is becoming more useless as it can be
confusing for people and harder to learn about and use especially in everyday life and work

Comparing A Sorrowful Woman By Gail Godwin, And A Secret...
Children, Marriage and Love are the three main factors of the two short stories, A Sorrowful Woman
by Gail Godwin, and A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee. Two relationships at risk because of
children. Neither of them know what to do but try to find solutions to solve their problems. They end
up having different outcomes.
In both stories both women face a major issue. In Godwin s story the main female character is
suffering depression and always feeling sad and tired from being around her child and taking care of
him and her husband. However, Faye in van der Zee s story is struggling with her reality of not being
able to have children and she s afraid of marrying her boyfriend, who is madly in love with her,
because she s afraid of disappointing him. Both women are unsure how to handle their problem and
their first instinct is to keep their distance and avoid their issues. Communication also played a huge
role in both situations. In A Secret Sorrow Kai wouldn t let Faye just walk away from him without
knowing what was wrong and wanted an explanation. That was the main key for their breakthrough.
In A Sorrowful Woman the husband would just agree with whatever his wife said and would abide by
her commands no matter how much it hurt him. If the husband would ve tried to figure out why she
was so sad and sick; things might ve gone differently.
In van der Zee s story Kai made Faye s tragedy his tragedy and made sure to let her know they were
going through it together.

Troubles in Northern Ireland from the IRA and British...
INTRODUCTION Although much of the blame for the Troubles in Northern Ireland has fallen on the
IRA as a terrorist group, the British government was responsible for numerous acts of state terrorism
in the period. As a result of their frustration towards the situation in the North and their desperation to
stop the IRA from wreaking havoc, the British Army and police acted in ways that one would not
expect from the representatives of a world power in the late twentieth century. The British government

Years of British occupation and oppression led to a sustained campaign to regain freedom from Britain
beginning in the early twentieth century. Both the loyalist (supporters of the Union with Britain) and
the republicans (supporters of a united Ireland) were willing to use violence for their cause. This took
form in the 1916 Easter Rising, where Irish rebels declared the independence of the Irish Republic and
fought in Dublin against the British to regain control of their homeland. The rebels were unsuccessful
and were forced to surrender. This lead to the later Irish War of Independence, and the introduction of
the Government of Ireland Act in 1920 and the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921, which resulted in the
partitioning of Ireland into six counties in the North ruled by Britain and twenty six counties in the
south, newly named the Irish Free State. However, a significant minority in the North of around forty
percent were Irish nationalists who wanted independence from Britain. Therefore, from its creation in
1920, Northern Ireland was a state whose citizens differed over their national allegiance. This situation
in the North caused a great deal of tension, as the leaders of the Protestant, unionist majority
discriminated against the Catholic, nationalist minority. So, by the 1960s, Catholic nationalist
frustration was manifested in a campaign for civil rights, to which the state responded with vicious

Hip Hop Music In The 1970 s
Hip Hop music is a popular subculture, a piece of music that is focused on rhythmic music along with
rapping, a rhyming and rhythmic speech called chanting. Hip Hop culture was developed as part of
hip hop customs, using four keys style elements: rapping, turntables, graffiti writing, break dancing,
instrumental tracks and beat boxing. Hip Hop music is commonly referred to as rap music and
includes the practice of the entire subculture.
In the 1970 s, hip hop began in the Bronx, NY. At block and house parties using mixed songs from

spatial and temporal distributions of signaling molecules in single cell level will help us understanding
the mechanism of biofilm formation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spinach was discovered using the Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment
(SELEX) technique against DFHBI immobilized on agarose resin. People have developed Spinach
based sensors against adenosine, ADP, S adenosyl methionine (SAM), guanine, cyclic di GMP (c di
GMP) and GTP using existing aptamer sequences. A key challenge for RNA based sensors is that they
normally function poorly in cells. This is because RNA is easily degraded by nuclease and also has
poor folding in intracellular. Poor folding RNA can be contributed by many elements, such as the
difference folding structures and thermal instability, or rely on ion concentration. Later people
developed 49 nt long aptamer Broccoli, which has brighter green fluorescence upon binding DFHBI.
Folding of Broccoli only needs low concentration of magnesium and the Mg2+ presents low amount
in body so Broccoli can fold better than Spinach. Broccoli also has a higher thermostability than
Spinach. Additionally, Broccoli does not require a tRNA scaffold to promote its folding in vivo.
However, under cellular imaging conditions, Spinach and Broccoli show greatly reduced fluorescence
compared with nominal brightness. It has been known that the fluorescence decrease of
Spinach−DFHBI is not due to irreversible photobleaching like GFP. It is caused by reversible
conversion to a non fluorescent state and the signal can be recovered

  • 2. An Article The Fortune 100 And Their Fitness And Wellness... gender equality, good and flexible work organization permitting better reconciliation of working and personal life, lifelong learning, health and safety at work, employee involvement and diversity in working life. (2012) . In an article The Fortune 100 and their Fitness and Wellness Programs, we can find the examples of such managerial attitude. For instance, Walmart provides its 1.1 million associates and family members with health care plans with access to affordable, comprehensive medical coverage. Exxon Mobil fitness discount program allows employees, retirees and their families to join top rated health clubs at substantially discounted rates (2015). Creating a safe workplace is a matter of great importance. Abraham Maslow defines safety needs as security... and freedom from fear, from anxiety and chaos. He argues that practically everything looks less important than safety and protection (1954, p.39). Unfortunately, job security has become an issue today. Dorie Clark cites in her article the words of Jacob Morgan, a co founder of the Future of Work Community, Job security is a complete myth, as is long term employment. Companies lay off employees in droves...by the thousands! They just make sweeping cuts when they need to (2014). Evidently, job insecurity negatively affects job satisfaction. Some studies suggest that living with job insecurity the fear of losing your job can be more harmful to your health than actually losing it (n.d.) Therefore, employment ... • 3. Fear Has Been Tricking The Mind Research Paper Fear Has Been Tricking the Minds of People From the Start of Time Do you enjoy fear? Fear has been challenging the minds of humans since the beginning of time. All people can enjoy fear, and highly despise fear as well. Fear is the nauseating feeling of caused by the belief that something or something is out to harm you. Fright actually keeps us alive because it keeps our brain active and alert of our surroundings at all times. Horror is contagious; most of our fear is not caused by us, but instead it is caused by watching other people s reactions. The thin line between truth and make believe are obscured when one is frightened of the unknown. Fantasy overcomes logic when we let our brain run wild with irrational thoughts, ... • 4. Stanley Kubrick s Full Metal Jacket Stanley Kubrick s Full Metal Jacket begins with a dramatic, and kind of comedic, portrayal of U.S. boot camp training during the Vietnam War era, an era where people were drafted for the military. The obese and clumsy Private Pyle struggles to cope with the physical and mental pressures of military training and the drill instructor, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, shows no empathy for his struggles. When the platoon exercises with obstacles, Private Pyle fails to climb the dirty name obstacle because of his obesity, but Hartman continuously berates and screams at him for his failure saying your ass looks like about a hundred and fifty pounds of chewed bubble gum (Full Metal Jacket). It doesn t stop there: too unfit to do a pull up, Pyle is called a worthless piece of shit (Full Metal Jacket). Finally, when Pyle is unable to keep running, Hartman asks were you born a fat slimy scumbag, you piece of shit, Private Pyle? Or did you have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consider Atul Gawande and his notes on an imperfect science with Education of a Knife. Gawande is trapped in a dilemma where lives are at stake, but there is no perfect solution. Gawande discusses an issue that has been glued to surgical training for ages. As a resident surgeon, he has encountered many struggles in trying to perform procedures on his patients. He starts by recounting when he was assisting a surgeon was first injecting a patient using a syringe: The patient yelped in pain from Gawande s inexperience with the syringe. This pain is actually essential for the medical profession. Resident surgeons need to practice on real people in order to become the surgeons they seek to be. Due to this one tragic flaw in the makings, Macbeth went from a bright future as king to his demise, which eventually lead to his death. Because of the events that occurred in the latter half of Macbeth s life, the play evokes pity, albeit a little undeserved, from the audience as Macbeth accepts his doom. Furthermore, the playwright elicits fear from the watchers, which is caused by their fear of committing the same mistake as Macbeth. Aristotle believed that inciting fear and pity from the audience is part of what makes a tragedy, a tragedy. Rappaccini s Daughter And The Birthmark Short Story In his short stories Rappaccini s Daughter and The Birthmark author Nathaniel Hawthorne explores the limitations of humanity and the ability to achieve perfection. Humans are always striving to advance and evolve, forever chasing after this idea of perfection. Part of humanity is always wanting to do better, to have more. In Hawthorne s short stories, the two main characters are both scientists who make an attempt at creating perfection. Parliament quickly replace salutary neglect with imperial administration (A. 133). The enactment the Currency Act of 1764 barred colonies from using paper money as legal tender. Samsung s dynamic capability frameworks and resources allowed the company to gain competitive advantage and achieve growth in many different markets. Some of these capabilities and resources that led Samsung s success include; the ability to recognize opportunity through a visionary management team, intense acquisition of technology and learning, product and process innovation, a fluid manufacturing and assembly system and the ability to develop partnerships and joint ventures. In the midst of the global financial crisis, the Korean currency s value, won, had fallen tremendously. Samsung s management team saw this as an opportunity to start outsourcing from China, where they manufactured LCDs and Mobiles for a fraction of the price. By 2011, Samsung had the largest Mobile share in China. They decided that by moving out they would understand the surrounding markets (Zahou, 2015). For the second one, only the most recent copy of web pages is to be saved. For this, one has to maintain records of when the web page changed and how frequently it was changed. This technique is more efficient than the previous one but it requires an indexing module to be run with the crawling module. The authors conclude that an incremental crawler can bring brand new copies of web pages more quickly and maintain the storage area fresher than a periodic crawler. III. • 29. Tracking Is An Assault On Liberty By Nicholas Carr In the essay, Tracking Is an Assault on Liberty by Nicholas Carr, he argues the importance of privacy when one is surfing the web. Carr writes how companies personalize ads they provide on the internet based on our personal information. We are not aware of the consequences and the information we disclose about ourselves on the internet. Everything we do on the internet is recorded and stored. Nicholas Carr uses ethos and counter argument/refutation to express to his audience that their privacy is being violated. Carr utilizes ethical appeals to identify to his readers that he/she has a right to their own privacy and how companies and organizations are violating it. He strengthens his ethical appeal and argument by collecting ample evidence from professionals in the field. Carr writes, ...the computer consultant Tom Owad... wrote a simple piece of software that allowed him to download public wish lists that Amazon.com customers post to catalog products that they plan to purchase...Mr. Owad ended up with maps of the United States showing the locations of people interested in particular books and ideas... (Carr 437). Carr uses an expert to enhance his argument and provide a credible source. The greater a person s authority, the more likely an audience is inclined to listen and be persuaded. By putting an expert s research on his essay, Carr s audience will be convinced which will lead them to trust him more. Another example where Carr uses an expert s opinion is when he notes, As the computer security expert Bruce Schneier has observed, privacy is not just a screen we hide behind when we do something naughty or embarrassing; privacy is intrinsic to the concept of liberty. When we feel that we re always being watched, we begin to lose our sense of self reliance and free will and, along with it, our individuality (Carr 439). Carr uses Scheiner s, a computer security expert, to tell his readers how one feels when they feel like they lost their privacy. Car uses reasoned argument by stating series of statements that use evidence and reasoning to support his claim. Carr also uses counterargument/refutations to influence the readers that our personal datas may fall in the wrong hands. He writes, You have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Plato And Aristotle s Views On Life And Political Regime Western philosophy s origins can be traced back to the ideas of Greek philosophers Aristotle and Plato. Aristotle and Plato were philosophers who lived in Athens, Greece who critically studied matters of human life, political rule, human nature, and therefore wrote on the subjects. Plato s ideals are theoretically based and although Aristotle was one of his students his thoughts and ideas are more practical and biologically orientated than Plato s ideals. Although Plato and Aristotle have similar ideas on ideal human life and political regime there approach on both is distinct, since Aristotle focuses more on developmental and practical forms of life and Plato strives to proclaim the ideal forms although they may be unattainable. An ideal purpose or function exists for individuals in both Plato s and Aristotle s conceptualizations of mankind. This ideal purpose is called a telos, and every human being has a telos to live up to. According to The Republic written by Plato the soul consists of three parts: reason, spirit and appetite. (Plato p. 130: 435 b c; p. 135: 440 e) Each person is governed by one of the three components of their soul and it ultimately determines their role in society. The end often meant the death of villains. Eastwood s many roles have created an Eastwood ethos, or philosophy, that his fans have been able to count on in each movie, no matter their genre or historical context. Editors often use fade ins and fade outs to indicate changes in time, especially when the locations remain the same. The editors used straight cuts rather than fades in expressing its story. In the scene when Walt tells Thao to dig up a neighbour s tree, the editor uses various alternating scenes of Walt smoking and watching while Thao digs in the rain. The cameras shots of Walt and Thao are separated by various dissolves. What gives the film its strength is the way Eastwood shows Walt struggling with his prejudices and coming to terms with a changing world and with his inner demons, many of the latter stemming from the horrors he witnessed in the Korean War. Finally, it turns into a kind of modern western, with Walt preparing for a finale. At the end of the film I have picked up a flaw and it appears when Walt takes Thao to get a job and to see how true American friends of different backgrounds work together. In both stories both women face a major issue. In Godwin s story the main female character is suffering depression and always feeling sad and tired from being around her child and taking care of him and her husband. Years of British occupation and oppression led to a sustained campaign to regain freedom from Britain beginning in the early twentieth century. Both the loyalist (supporters of the Union with Britain) and the republicans (supporters of a united Ireland) were willing to use violence for their cause. This took form in the 1916 Easter Rising, where Irish rebels declared the independence of the Irish Republic and fought in Dublin against the British to regain control of their homeland. The rebels were unsuccessful and were forced to surrender. This lead to the later Irish War of Independence, and the introduction of the Government of Ireland Act in 1920 and the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921, which resulted in the partitioning of Ireland into six counties in the North ruled by Britain and twenty six counties in the south, newly named the Irish Free State. However, a significant minority in the North of around forty percent were Irish nationalists who wanted independence from Britain. Therefore, from its creation in 1920, Northern Ireland was a state whose citizens differed over their national allegiance. This situation in the North caused a great deal of tension, as the leaders of the Protestant, unionist majority discriminated against the Catholic, nationalist minority. So, by the 1960s, Catholic nationalist frustration was manifested in a campaign for civil rights, to which the state responded with vicious intensity. Those who were ... People have found out that there are some signaling molecules, which are critical for biofilm formation. Spinach was discovered using the Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment (SELEX) technique against DFHBI immobilized on agarose resin. People have developed Spinach based sensors against adenosine, ADP, S adenosyl methionine (SAM), guanine, cyclic di GMP (c di GMP) and GTP using existing aptamer sequences. A key challenge for RNA based sensors is that they normally function poorly in cells. This is because RNA is easily degraded by nuclease and also has poor folding in intracellular. Poor folding RNA can be contributed by many elements, such as the difference folding structures and thermal instability, or rely on ion concentration. Later people developed 49 nt long aptamer Broccoli, which has brighter green fluorescence upon binding DFHBI. Folding of Broccoli only needs low concentration of magnesium and the Mg2+ presents low amount in body so Broccoli can fold better than Spinach. Broccoli also has a higher thermostability than Spinach. Additionally, Broccoli does not require a tRNA scaffold to promote its folding in vivo. However, under cellular imaging conditions, Spinach and Broccoli show greatly reduced fluorescence compared with nominal brightness.
