Artemisia Gentileschi s Life And Work
Artemisia Gentileschi was born Artemisia Gentileschi Lomi in Rome on 8 July 1593, although her
birth certificate from the Archivio di Stato indicated she was born in 1590, the eldest child of the
Tuscan painter Orazio Gentileschi and Prudentia Montone.[3] Artemisia was introduced to painting in
her father s workshop, showing much more talent than her brothers, who worked alongside her. She
learned drawing, how to mix color, and how to paint. Since her father s style took inspiration from
Caravaggio during that period, her style was just as heavily influenced in turn. Her approach to subject
matter was different from her father s, however, as her paintings are highly naturalistic, where Orazio
s are idealized. At the same time, Artemisia had

The Easiest Path In The Lottery, By Shirley Jackson
Two stories from different genres and different points of view, somehow deals the same theme.
Standing up for what is right may not always be the easiest path, there is was some consequence that
people have to pay for trying to make things right. Everyday there is something going on that people
want to change, but they cannot always stand up. In the story The Lottery, by Shirley Jackson,
villagers gather in the town square, to the annual lottery, where only one person is lucky. However,
winning is actually losing in this story, the winner gets stoned to death by their peers. Mrs. Hutchinson
was the lucky winner , however, she was trying to tell everyone in the village that it was unfair. First

For example, Mrs. Hutchinson was telling the crowd of villagers You didn t give him time enough to
take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! , when Mr. Hutchinson got the slip of paper,
however, no one cared what she said. This shows the theme standing up for what is right may not
always be the easiest path , because Mrs. Hutchinson was trying to tell everyone that it was not fair,
that Mr. Hutchinson was pressured, but no one listened to her. Because it is hard to stand up for what
is right. Another example, in The Lottery is [ It isn t fair, she said. A stone hit her on the side of the
head ]. This example illustrates that it may not always be the easiest path in the theme, because
Tessie/Mrs. Hutchinson tries to stand up for what is right and at the end she just got stoned to death.
The Lottery states [ Some places have already quit lotteries, Mrs. Adams said Nothing but trouble in
that, Old Man Warner said stoutly. Pack of young fools ]. In this example other places have stopped
doing the lottery, because they are standing for what is right, however Old Man Warner reacts that
they are not making a smart choice of stopping the

Organizational Commitment and Communications Paper The selected organization is Walt Disney
Company. In this paper the subject to discuss is how different leadership styles affect group
communication, analyze different sources of power and the affects on group and organizational
communication, identify the motivational theories effective within the culture of the company and the
role of communication as an element of these theories, and the commitment of the workforce to the
organization and their relationship to the organization s communication. Walt Disney himself set a

Motivational Theories The Disney Company encourages communication throughout the organization,
and this communication is what helps to make a strong organizational culture. A few motivational
theories are effective in the Disney Company s culture. Psychologist Frederick Herzberg proposed the
two factor theory otherwise known as motivation hygiene theory. This theory believes an individual s
relationship to work is basic and that attitude toward work can very well determine success or failure
(Robbins Judge, 2011). This theory is one for the Walt Disney Company. The founder Walt Disney s
attitude toward the company from the beginning was to bring happiness to everyone that has any parts
of the company. A happy founder gives off a chain reaction and therefore gives the company happy
employees and customers. Employee s are happy and have job satisfaction shows it through his or her
positivity and it reflects in one s job performance. Another motivational theory is a goal setting theory
that the Disney Company uses to motivate their employees. A goal setting theory is a theory that says
that specific and difficult goals with feedback, lead to higher performance (Robbins Judge, 2011). The
Disney Company has many projects going on at one time so setting goals keep the employees
motivated to do their jobs. The Disney Company also can use the reinforcement theory that states that
behavior is a function of its consequence. The Disney Company offers great

Brave New World Theme Analysis Essay
God isn t compatible with machinery and scientific medicine and universal happiness. So says
Mustapha Mond, the World Controller for Western Europe in Aldous Huxley s novel Brave New
World. In doing so, he highlights a major theme in this story of a Utopian society. Although the people
in this modernized world enjoy no disease, effects of old age, war, poverty, social unrest, or any other
infirmities or discomforts, Huxley asks is the price they pay really worth the benefits? This novel
shows that when you must give up religion, high art, true science, and other foundations of modern
life in place of a sort of unending happiness, it is not worth the sacrifice.
True, the citizens of this brave new world do enjoy many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One might be led to believe that this society is a perfect place to live, since all the inhabitants are
eternally happy. There are no wars, pain, or suffering, all definite pluses, yet readers must not judge
too quickly.
Everything comes at a price, and the price that is paid for the new order is sadly high, costing the
Utopians the benefits of high art, true religion, real science, and family life, which all have been
removed to promote stability. Othello s better than those feelies. Of course it is But that s the price
we have to pay for stability. You ve got to choose between happiness and what people used to call high
art. We ve sacrificed the high art. We have the feelies and the scent organ instead. But they don t mean
anything, (Huxley 226) This conversation shows one of the tradeoffs made. Stories like Othello are
inspired by strong emotions, and Utopia has done away with them. Now, there is nothing to write
about, and if something was written along the lines of Othello it might cause people to think, causing
instability. The movies people see are idiotic and plotless, based solely on sensations. Religion as we
know it has been done away with also, as Mustapha Mond showed by his comments quoted at the
beginning of this paper. Religion usually involves self denial, and that is contrary to everything the
new society is based on. With instant gratification

Building Faith Community From Day One
Building Faith Community From Day One
As an architect in a Catholic school, the principal bears the load of responsibility for setting the tone
for each school year and as an architect of Catholic culture, is to connect the school s core values and
beliefs to Christ and the Gospel intentionally, deliberately, and continually. (Cook, 2001, p. 20) The
principal, being the spiritual leader of the school, helps support the Catholic school s mission and the
xxxx of the Catholic identity of the school. They must lead through example and build the faith
community. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops states that Within such communities
teachers and pupils experience together what it means to live a life of prayer, personal responsibility
and freedom reflective of Gospel Values. (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 1973, p. 30)
During the first week of school is when the mission of the school and the Gospel Values or the core
beliefs and values of Catholic schooling, should be reveled and xxx to the faith community. My vision
would be to reveal the Gospel values of Faith and Love and the greatest link for those is prayer.
Prayer
The National Directory for Catechist states that faith must be know, celebrated, lived, and expressed in
prayer. (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 2005, p. 60) Prayer is a direct path to growing
closer with God and it is fundamental task of a catechist to teach others how to pray. Prayer is a way

An Example Of A Good Person In Tree Girl
Good Person In society today, we need more people who are supportive and loyal because without
those kinds of people in our world today there would be no wonderful people. People who are loyal
are people who you can trust and have your back, I know this because Tree Girl in this book gabbai
(The main charter) must go and find a refugee camp so she won t be killed be these horrible people
and she takes her little sister Alicia with her so she can be safe too, so as they travel on the way to find
it gabbai stayed loyal to Alicia and never left her side and that shows a true loyalty and it s a
wonderful example of how people need to act and how friends and good people should never leave

Reflection On Quality And Safety
QUALITY AND SAFETY: REFLECTION.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL DEFINITION.
The WGU nursing program helped me in developing my professional definition of quality and safety
by enlightening my understanding of root cause analysis, and system failures. The IHI course was an
eye opener in my understanding of quality improvement, and the processes required to enhance safety
and quality improvement. The courses that really assisted me in my definition include, the
Organizational Systems and Quality Leadership, the Leadership and Professional Image, and
Professional Roles and Values; and the Evidence Based Practice and Applied Nursing Research.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACT SUPPORT.
My papers from the leadership learning experience task, and organizational systems and quality
leadership task 2 are some of the artifacts that I have included in this portfolio to support my
definition of quality and safety.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACTS SUPPORTING DEFINITION.
My paper from leadership learning experience task, supports my definition of safety and quality by
demonstrating how I proposed project that would enhance the safety and quality of my clients who
were at risk of developing pressure ulcers. On the other hand, my paper from the organizational
systems and quality leadership task 2 support my definition of safety and quality by demonstrating my
capacity to coordinate root cause analysis, and designing projects that would enhance safety and
quality by correctly identified system failures.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: IMPORTANCE OF IHI CERTIFICATE.
My Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) certificate is an artifact that supports my capacity in
safety and quality improvement in healthcare. This course enlightened on my role as nurses in
enhancing safety and quality in my workplace. I have already proposed the need in including staff
nurses in the quality improvement committee to my employer. I believe I will be among the staff
nurses who will be sitting in the committee, and I am going to take the role of an informal leader and a
change agent in that committee. As an informal leader and a change agent, I will devote my energy in
refocusing the thinking of my colleagues, so that they are able to visualize

The Demise Of The Qing Dynasty
Many people argued that Empress Dowager Cixi accelerated the speed of the demise of the Qing
dynasty. Cixi might be a blasting fuse but she was not accounted for the final fall of the dynasty. The
actions Cixi took had profoundly changed the foundation of feudal China so as to push China forward
into a modern stage. Although many historical data suggested that whatever Cixi had done were to
consolidate her authority and personal status. But no matter what, the impact on the country was
obvious. Cixi broke the previous traditions from Confucianism that had been lasted for centuries.
Tensions between the Manchus and Han Chinese had been greatly improved, which made a great
contribution to China for later unification. Under the reign of the Empress Dowager, the social
structure had undergone a series of changes. Qing s demise is doomed, this was resulted from issues
that had stacked up from previous generations. Moreover, Cixi did her best to secure China s status in
the world in such a chaotic period in history. She made undeniable contributions to China.
Confucianism is a traditional ideology that has already penetrated into every Chinese head. Its main
principle is to follow the past, changes and new technologies or new objects are not necessary.
Whatever happened in the past are the best standards to follow. The way that Qing government
responded after being defeated in the Opium War was shocking from current perspective. China
accepted all the unfair treaties to cover the

The Importance Of The Quran
The Quran tells people what they should do to please God and how it will be on judgment day. It also
tells people how to worship God and how they should act towards other people. During the early
communities of Islam, reading the Quran and practicing Islam, communities came up with the Pillars
of Islam . It was about how there is one God and that Muhammad is the Prophet. It also included the
prayer rituals. Other parts of the pillar were about giving back to the community which included
charity and also the fasting of Ramadan and the Hajj. Al Shafi I (767 820) said that the Quran is Gods
words while the sunna of the Prophet is just as important because it is another demonstration of Gods

4.6 The Path of Reason: During the first century of Islamic rule they did not translate from Greek to
Syriac to Arabic because the Arabic Language wasn t capable of taking in all the information. By the
second to fourth century of the Islamic rule, translating into Arabic had a bigger role under the
Abbasids because it brought power and success to the caliphs. Philosophy and the Islamic religion go
side by side and with reason, man can have knowledge of the universe, but also being Muslim, man
had to believe that knowledge also came from Gods Words.
Chapter 5: The Arab Muslim World
5.1 States and Dynasties:
The Islamic World had a common Religion and language by the end of the tenth century. It also had
three different powers in three different regions, and each region was ruled during a different period.
The Abbasids, Fatimids and Salah al Din all ruled during different times. During the thirteenth and
fourteenth century, Mongols conquered Iran and Iraq and that s when the Abbasid Dynasty ended. In
this period the Muslim world lost many parts of its region such as Sicily and Spain. But Islam was still
spreading in regions like Africa and northern India. During the fifteenth and sixteenth century,
production and trade had become weaker in the Muslim world and stronger in western Europe.

By the end of the Sixties, with the legendary reggae producer Lee Scratch Perry at the mixing desk,
The Wailers were again back at the top in Jamaica. The combination of the Wailers and Perry resulted
in some of the finest music the band ever made. Tracks like Soul Rebel, Duppy Conquerer, 400 Years,
and Small Axe were not only classics, but they defined the future direction of reggae. It s difficult to
properly understand Bob music without considering Rastafari. His spiritual beliefs are too well known
to necessitate further explanation. It must be stated, however, that Rastafari is at the very core of the
Wailers music.
In 1970 Aston Familyman Barrett and his brother Carlton (bass and drums, respectively) joined the
Wailers. They came to the band unchallenged as Jamaica s HARDEST rhythm section; a reputation
that was to remain undiminished during the following decade. Meanwhile, the band s own reputation
was, at the start of the Seventies, an extraordinary one throughout the Caribbean. However, the band
was still unknown internationally. That was to change in 1972 when the Wailers signed to Island
Records. It was a revolutionary move for an international record company and a reggae band. For the
first time a reggae band had access to the best recording facilities and were treated in the same way as
a rock group. Before the Wailers signed to Island, it was considered that reggae sold only on singles

Best Super Bowl Commercials
There are so many Super Bowl commercials in its history, and my favorite one is the Pepsi
commercial Coke Guy Caught on Cam (Your Cheatin Heart) in 1996. The commercial portrays a
funny betrayal story that a Coke Cola delivery guy was caught by the security camera since he is
attempting to steal a can Pepsi from the refrigerator. Although he intends to hide his actions, the
crushing cans from the shelves announces his cheating and makes him escape from the convince store.
Simply, there are several reasons that I believe this is one of the greatest Super Bowl commercials.
The first and forest thing needs to concern here is the viewing point of this commercial, as the event

Insubordination Case Summary
Was Alice Hill justified in not returning to change the grade? Why or why not?
Alice is justified in not returning to change the grade because the student has to earn the grade, he
could have tried to correct it before leaving class. The principal and Alice s colleagues are trying to
peer pressure her into doing something that is not beneficial for the student it only benefits the school
s reputation. School authorities should avoid any actions regarding evaluation for dismissal that may
be viewed as harassment or intimidation by the affected teacher (Essex, 2012, p. 267). Alice is
protected by tenure for this type of situation, it is restated that tenure protects teachers from well
connected parents who may push their own children s interests to the detriment of others (DeMitchell
Onosko, 2016, p. 4 5), which is similar to this case.
Does the principal have sufficient grounds to recommend insubordination? Why or why not?
The principal does not have sufficient grounds to recommend insubordination. School officials should
be knowledgeable of their state s statutory definition of insubordination and ensure that cases
involving insubordination are well documented . It is stated that insubordination is viewed as the
willful failure or inability to obey a reasonable and valid administrative directive (Essex, 2012, p. ...

Before recommending a dismissal for Alice s performance, she must undergo procedural and

on a preponderance of evidence (Essex, 2012, p. 254), and in this case the only problem is her
changing a grade for an athlete, which is not a reason for dismissal. Teachers may be dismissed only
for specified reasons that are based on objective and documentable evidence (Essex, 2012, p.

Charles Williams On Bullying Summary
When someone is done wrong they usually seek vengeance. Studies have shown that a victim of
bullying lashes out not only on the bully but on the peers that laughed along or did nothing to help the
victim. Charles Andrew Williams, who killed two students and wounded thirteen more during a 2001
shooting spree at Santana High School in Santee, California, said afterward that he was tired of being
bullied by other students. Many victim s hold in their heart or pain until it explodes into violence. This

Mmr Vaccine And The Vaccine
Vaccines; a more than spectacular development of science which has prevented countless numbers of
diseases by giving one s body an immunity to a microorganism by stimulating the body s immune
system and giving it the ability to recognize the pathogen as it enters the body to be more easily and
readily destroyed. Autism, on the other hand, has not yet been fully linked back to a specific cause or
reason. Because of this uncertainty, disgruntled parents have chosen to believe ideas with no scientific
backing behind them besides what discredited scientist Wakefield said in a paper linking the MMR
vaccine to autism along with some celebrities following Jenny McCarthy s Anti Vaccination
Movement. This issue holds controversial value because of all of the parents whom refuse to vaccinate
their children putting them at risk for the diseases that the vaccine is supposed to prevent. All of this is
due to the one doctor who was bribed by a lawyer company four hundred thousand euros to bad mouth
vaccinations to give them a case against it in a lawsuit. This lost him his medical license and even still
is believed to this very day by a large group of people. This topic is talked about on the internet quite
often and it s typically a debate between parents and doctors with little to no reasoning behind the
parents perspective. This issue is so compelling because it is almost rage inducing to think about
parents putting their children s lives at risk for a controversy that was made

Abortion Is A Fetus A Living Human
Is a developing fetus a living human? Is a fetus not considered a human until the second trimester?
Does poverty, rape and disability justify an abortion? Is the abortion dilemma truly black and white?
Abortion is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United States each year.
Nearly one in four of all pregnancies end in abortion equalling 42% of all yearly deaths around the
world. For pro life supporters, they say that life begins at conception; the instant when a sperm cell
unites with a egg cell. For pro choice supporters, they say at birth, a baby is a living human. At
conception, they know it is something but they don t consider it a human life. Since 1973, the number
of abortions has spiked drastically from over 700,000 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Others will object and say it is just a fetus. Millions of babies each year, die without even being born
because of abortion. How should society respond to the huge increase in the amount of abortions over
the past few years? Society needs to make a big change and make abortions illegal. People think it is
acceptable to kill someone who doesn t even have a say yet. People think it is acceptable to put their
rights before two other individuals. Why though? Why take what seems like the easy way out all the
time? Society is showing people that it is okay to kill unborn fetuses. Society certainly needs an
effective way of preventing abortions. But in the end, the fact that abortion has been legalized in
America since 1973, shows that right now our problem is only going to get bigger and we need to do
something about it

Forging, Horticulture, Agriculture, Industrialism And The...
The five modes of livelihood are, foraging, horticulture, pastoralism, agriculture, Industrialism and the
Information Age.
Foraging is based on obtaining food only available in nature, this includes fruits, small animals, nuts,
berries, and etc. This is done by either gathering, fishing, or hunting resources. The labor of this
system is family based and the gender roles do overlap. Though men tend to do the hunting, while the
females do more foraging. Foraging has a high degree of sustainability if there s undisturbed outside
forces.
Horticulture is the process of getting food by cultivating crops within gardens. These crop yields
support denser populations than foraging and allow for permanent settlements. The labor is made by
usually a main family. Men often do more work in terms of actual manually labor, such as clearing the
land. Everyone has a part in the process even the children. They help out by caring for siblings,
fetching fuel, and hauling water. The system has a high sustainability, but can get threaten by outsiders
taking land, urban development, and dam construction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

process the products while men herd the animals (Miller 50). This process is sustainable system if

The Balancing Act of Adult Life Essay
The Balancing Act of Adult Life
Life in the 21st century seems more complex than ever, as adults cope with the demands of multiple
roles, the stresses of a fluid workplace, and the pressures of child and elder care. Individuals feel
compelled to update their work related knowledge and skills and to keep up with the proliferation of
information. Family resource management is increasingly complex, with expanded choices and
decisions that must be made about utilities, banking, investments, retirement planning, etc. The
Internet has simultaneously made it easier to access information, yet more complicated to apply
critical judgment to what one finds. Many of us feel, as Kegan (1994) put it, in over our heads as we

Beyond Life Skills
In the 1990s, work/life balance caught the attention of researchers, policymakers, and employers,
resulting in the development of a range of employment benefits, legislation, and programs aimed at
helping people cope. Life management or family/career management curricula emphasize coping
through the development of skills in communication, interpersonal effectiveness, and money, time,
stress, and household management (e.g., California Community Colleges 1998; Mathieson 1999). As
Caproni (1997) notes, research, policy, and practice focused on work/life balance have raised
important issues and brought about changes that have benefitted some families. However, these

As Niles et al. (2001) point out, the usefulness of these types of responses benefits different segments
of society differently. For the working poor, balancing work, nonwork, and life roles may be a luxury;
they are likely to be far more circumspect in how they can commit their resources to family needs (p.

The Nature of Evil in William Shakespeare’ s Othello Essay
William Shakespeare’s Othello uses different and unique techniques in his language to express the
nature of evil throughout the play. Verbal twists and the characters most importantly stress the act of
evil. Iago, most of all is portrayed as the “villain” or “protagonist in the play. Shakespeare uses this
character to set the basis of evil. Each plot point is spiraled further into tragedy due to the nature of
Iago and his manipulative language towards the other main characters.
Corruption overcomes the Venetian society as Iago uses his crafty skills of deceit. The plan to have
Othello turn against the ones he loves is the perfect example of evil’s nature. The power struggle is
evident between these two. This situation is the start to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
355,] By playing on his hopes, Iago is able to conjure money and jewels from Roderigo, making
himself a profit, while using Roderigo to further his other plans. He also thinks stealthy on his feet and
is able to improvise whenever something unexpected occurs. When Cassio takes hold of Desdemona s
hand before the arrival of the Moor Othello, Iago says, With as little a web as this will I ensnare as
great a fly as Cassio. [II, i, 163] This language demonstrates the evil inside Iago’s goals of retrieving
absolute power. He actually even says of himself, I am an honest man.... [II, iii, 245] Iago slowly
corrupts the character’s thoughts, creating ideas in their minds without implicating himself. His
medicine works! Thus credulous fools are caught.... [II, i, 44] And what s he then that says I play the
villain, when this advice is free I give, and honest, [II, iii, 299] says Iago. In turn, people rarely stop to
consider the fact that old Iago could be deceiving and manipulating them; yet they are convinced that
he is Honest Iago. From these quotes from “Othello” it is proven that the dialogue used between
Iago and the others is manipulative causing an evil outcome.
Iago’s complexity in character grows as the play comes closer to a conclusion. The tricky and crafty
way Shakespeare uses the evil in Iago is to make him seem amoral as opposed to the typical immoral
villain. At the climactic end of the play, Iago s plot and plan is given away to Othello

Rhetorical Analysis Of Chief Powhatan
A leader has many responsibilities as a role model and caretaker for their people. Facing hard
challenges and knowing how to deal with them is a part of being a great leader all of which are Chief
Powhatan showed. Chief Powhatan whose proper name was Wahunsenacawh, was the superior chief
of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of Algonquian speaking Virginia Indians in the Tidewater region of
Virginia at the time English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607. In his address to Captain John
Smith Chief Powhatan expresses how he desires peace between the settlers and the Tsenacommacah.
He utilizes distinct rhetorical elements such as rhetorical questions, diction and argumentation to
further support his view on what he desired to occur between his people and the English settlers.
Chief Powhatan begins to address his statement by using rhetorical questions in order to support his
claim of peace. For example in lines 5 through 7 Powhatan says Why should you take by force that
from us which you can have by love? Why should you destroy us who have provided you with food?
What can you get by war? Obviously Powhatan doesn t expect Captain John Smith to answer his
questions but he uses this in order to create a growing tension that drives a questioning mentality
about whether using force is the best method when love is another alternative. He also recounts on
how it is unwise and unethical to break ties with the people who have fed and given shelter to the
settlers. Without them the settlers would be starving and freezing to death turning to barbaric methods
of survival. In line 9, he continues to support his claim by saying what is the cause of this jealousy? ,
this is important because the settlers became envious of how the Tsenacommacah were so well
developed, having shelter, and food. Having these benefits over the settlers Powhatan came to the
conclusion that the settlers would attempt to pilfer all that the Tsenacommacah had acquired. With this
in mind Powhatan decides to express his desire for peace so that neither side would eventually aim for
violence from lines 9 through 15.
Chief Powhatan continues to enhance his argument by using diction to add more emotion and meaning
to the message he is trying to convey.

The Death Of The Rainbow By Ntozake Shange
Life can be full of hardship, deceit, and catastrophe. In life, everyone struggles to stay afloat the
tsunami of troubles flooding them. However, some people struggle more than others, and some people
face much tougher encumbrances. In For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When The
Rainbow Is Enuf, Ntozake Shange shows each woman struggling to overcome a troubling past that
leads them to question the value of their own lives. In order to free themselves from the issues
suffocating them, they must eliminate the suffering part of themselves and unite to be reborn as
stronger women. This is expressed through the predominant idea of suicide throughout the piece.
Suicide can be defined as the act of killing oneself with intention. As drastic as this may sound, it can
be perceived that Shange s play was not focusing on suicide in a literal term. Instead, she was focusing
primarily on suicide in a figurative way. Suicide was used as a metaphor to illustrate the death of the
traumatized parts of the women. The women in Shange s play lived their lives plagued with tragedy
and abuse. In a sense, each woman had an experience that could truly justify committing suicide;
however, the women beat the odds, and in the end they unite to prevail over the burdens affecting
them. Most of the women in Shange s play were victims of heinous crimes. For example, the lady in

VI. Accountability and Control System, How to Control the Policy Implementation that may Occur

forest and land fire through preventing before it occurs, minimizing the impact, and minimizing forest
and land fire extension area. According to Ministry for National and Development Planning, there are
three things that need to be done first to prevent forest fires and land. First, reviewing the business
permits that have been issued by the Government for forestry and plantation; second enforcing on
business compliance with regulations and policies related to efforts to control land and forest fire; and
third the need for an early warning system (EWS) in the prevention and control of forest and land fire.
Early Warning System (EWS) on prevention and control of forest and land fire is a system that
contains information about the potential or predictions related to land and forest fires in one location
at a certain time. This system has been developed by various agencies with a variety of methods. But
the most important thing and should be encouraged is the implementation of the use of such
information at the site level by local governments and communities. Each of ministry and agency

The Communist Manifesto Calling On The Workers Of The World
Few events in history capture the attention of scholars and the general populace alike more than
revolutionary contentious politics. Revolts and social movements have for centuries brought about the
most radical of changes to the political order of societies, at times even engulfing entire regions of the
world in a contagious, fevered upheaval. Revolutionaries have fought not only against political
systems and institutions such as aristocratic and colonial rule; they have also fought for their beliefs,
values, and ideals. In 1848, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels published The Communist Manifesto
calling on the workers of the world to unite. Revolutionaries radicalized by the ideas of liberalism and
nationalism took to the barricades as socialists promoting the concept of regional and world revolution
helping to spark the modern spread of the notion referred to as revolutionary waves . What factors are
attributed with influencing an individual to rise up against an entrenched political system and possibly
risk their life to completely upend the historical order of things and wipe the slate clean to enable
present and future generations to create their own reality? Until recently, the power of the people and
their ability to mobilize and demand had often been underestimated. Thomas Schelling once reflected
that tyrants and subjects are in somewhat symmetrical positions. Subjects are capable of denying the
tyrant most of what it wants through refusing to collaborate. The

Comparing Araby And Nino Ricci s Going To The Moon
A child s imagination is inevitably corrupted by a societal crudity that alters their perception of the
world. This is evident in James Joyce s Araby and Nino Ricci s Going to the Moon , as the
protagonists desire a change from a routined lifestyle which leads to a failed journey and essentially,
experience an archetypal loss of innocence. The simplicity of their upbringing impacts their view of
individuals and establishes a destitute of vision towards the truth. Likewise, cultural barriers elicit
foreign emotions that obscure a sense of reality. Lastly, the occurrence of tragic events stimulates
disappointment and ensues a failed quest. In essence, a child s personal judgment is disfigured by their
surroundings.

mind. Only at school does the young boy appear at ease where he says, Miss. Johnson would ask us

we were going to the moon (Ricci 4). Children endlessly imagine adventures that convey their
ambitions and hopes for the future. The protagonist aspires to find a common ground in his

Understanding The Director Of National Intelligence
Understanding the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) priorities are necessary to recommend any
initiatives that will have the most value to the intelligence community (IC). The DNI fully identifies to
the IC what his mission, vision, and goals are. The DNI uses the National Intelligence Strategy (NIS)
to explain the objectives and the priorities for the IC. There are a few areas, which if made a priority
would have a beneficial impact on the IC. These recommendations would not require a lot of
resources. They include adapting one overall IC vision, enhancing current agency to agency
communication, and furthering foreign relations within the IC. One of the first priorities to establish
which would add a large benefit to the IC would be to have one vision with a joint strategy on how to
achieve the vision. The intelligence enterprise needs to not only indicate they have an overall vision
but they also need to adapt the vision into their organizations. With 17 different IC components that
each offers a unique service, there needs to be integration as has been the theme but also the visions
and actual employment of the visions and goals need to be aligned as well. The DNI lists his mission,
vision, and goals as: Mission Lead Intelligence Integration. Forge an Intelligence Community that

Amanda Dickinson
AC 1.1, 1.2, 1.3
Syer Connolly (1996) describes a team system as a group of people who constitute a system of
interrelated entities and whose members share a common goal. They argue that team members need to
develop awareness of themselves and each other, and of their differences, through giving descriptive
feedback. This allows appreciation of differences, good contact and improved communication. Trust,
respect, team spirit and synergy may then emerge. Consequently this leads to a highly developed
awareness. The notion of a cycle more easily suggests the kind of continuous process that teams go

Clarity of purpose increases but plenty of uncertainties persist. Cliques form and there may be conflict
and power struggles. The team needs to be focused on its goals to avoid becoming distracted by
relationships and emotional issues. Compromises may be required to enable progress. The leader
coaches.
Norming stage 3
Agreement and consensus is largely formed among the team, who respond well to facilitation by
leader. Roles and responsibilities are clear and accepted. Big decisions are made by group agreement.
Smaller decisions may be delegated to individuals or small teams within group. Commitment and
unity is strong. The team may engage in fun and social activities. The team discusses and develops its
processes and working style. There is general respect for the leader and some of leadership is more
shared by the team. The leader facilitates and enables.
Performing stage 4
The team is more strategically aware; the team knows clearly why it is doing what it is doing. The
team has a shared vision and is able to stand on its own feet with no interference or participation from
the leader. There is a focus on over achieving goals, and the team makes most of the decisions against
criteria agreed with the leader. The team has a high degree of autonomy. Disagreements occur but now
they are resolved within the team positively and necessary changes to processes and structure are

International Students Can Overcome Challenges
International students face many different challenges when studying abroad. This is due to many
factors. First, they are living in a country very far away from their own. The country they are studying
at has a very different way of life than theirs. Further more, the laws in that country are much different
than the laws in their own country. Due to that they face a lot of problems trying to adapt to this new
culture. Me personally as an international student in the US studying at ASU, have faced three
particularly difficult challenges that I was able to overcome through time. In this essay I will explain
how international students can overcome tough challenges and situations. The first challenge, and in
my opinion the most crucial challenge that I had to face was learning the English language, and
communicating with different people. Almost every international student is faced with this challenge;
Alberto Fernández Fernández said, International students often face adjustment issues impacting their
level of satisfaction with their experience. These involve oral language proficiency, as well as feelings
of anxiety and isolation resulting from language deficiencies . This challenge was important for me to
overcome due to the fact that I am here for the sole purpose to study in an American University, so
obviously I am required to learn the language. Likewise, I have to learn how to speak so that I can be
able to communicate with other students and professors. I personally

Introduction As the world becomes more engrained with technology. The growing threats and security
vulnerabilities propose a great concern to keep our digital information private and out of the hands of
thieves, hackers, and abusers. According to David Donahoo quoted in the Liberty Journal, The more
information that is available in the cyber world, the larger the pie becomes as far as a cyber criminal is
concerned. (Menard, 2015) In other words, information security is becoming a vital intrinsic absolute
when we consider the luxury our technology has brought us on a daily basis. More so, in the spiritual
sense the biblical doctrine of sanctification also plays a vital role in the health of our own spiritual
lives. Sanctification as defined by Wayne Grudem, is a progressive work of God and man that makes
us more and more free from sin and like Christ in our actual lives. (Grudem, 1994) With that said,

The Story of Qiu Ju (1992), which was directed by Zhang Yimou, depicts a Chinese woman who
questions the notion of filiality and seeks justice for modernity. Filiality is a traditional idea which
regards revering their ancestors, older people, and males as the most important concept. Thus, in that
idea, giving birth is also important because to maintain the family line, patriline, they need their

The Society Of The United States
Some social behaviors are so ingrained in people s day to day lives that they would never notice them
unless they were pointed out. One such behavior that is so often overlooked is the preferential
treatment that certain groups receive over others. The privileges of the dominate social groups over the
subordinate ones go so unnoticed at times that they are even seen as just innately how things should
be. In the contemporary society of the United States, the group with these privileges is often White
males, and the majority of them would disagree about that statement. Surprisingly, the group that gets
the most treatment feels the most abused. This only highlights the obliviousness accompanying those
to which this invisible power belongs. However, each person, at one point, has been advantaged over
another without realizing it.
I have experienced many freedoms throughout my life that others around me have not. For instance, as
a young, White female, I can walk up to almost any stranger of any age without them being suspicious
or afraid of me. A Black man isn t able to say that. This difference has nothing to do with who I am as
a person, but rather how society perceives I will behave based on how I look. I have walked through
department stores with a bag and my hands in my pockets, and I have never been searched or
suspected of stealing once. No one has ever crossed to the other side of the street because I was in
their path, or locked their doors as I walked past their car.

First, I would recommend decreasing the amount of sodium and saturated fat in his diet. The client
should be conscious of what is in his food and educate himself on portion sizes.
The U.S Department of Health and Human Services (2005) explains how important it is to reduce the
amount of added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium to prevent weight gain or health problems such as
hypertension, heart failure, high cholesterol or diabetes (HHS, 2005, para. 3 12).
In addition, I would also recommend increasing whole foods in his diet. Eating healthy snacks such as
apples or oatmeal could help reach his calorie limit as well as decrease hunger throughout the day.
There are also many benefits to whole foods. Rui Liu (2003) explains that consumption of whole

The speech was meant to inspire the intended audience in order to for them to give their support to the
antiwar movement by pointing out that the government s efforts to handle the war was ineffective and
unreliable. In Hall s The Vietnam Era Movement from the Magazine of History, it is stated that the
public opinion polls indicated an increase in the lack of confidence that the people had on the
president s handling of the war. Even before McCarthy gave this speech, the audience had already
given lots of strong support for the Antiwar Movement. The government had promised over and over
that the United States was winning and handling the war; as well as ending the war as soon as possible
in order to bring the troops back home. Antiwar activists were unimpressed with Nixon s efforts, and
after a brief interval escalated their protests. The idea of a Moratorium, a suspension of normal
activities, appealed to the moderates by building local actions around a one day protest, with actions
expanding one additional day each month until the war ended (Hall). After McCarthy clearly pointed
out how unreliable the government s efforts were, the audience and supporters of the Antiwar
Movement began escalating their protests and demonstrations in order to put much more pressure.

In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Robert Wiene cleverly uses mise en scene and cinematography to add
to the eeriness and originality in the scene of Cesare s awakening. The scene is important to the
overall film because it instills the viewer to believe that there will be a connoting between Cesare and
Alan. The purpose can be seen in the reverse shot sequence at the end of the scene in the dialogue
How long do I have to live? Till dawn tomorrow. The scene is based highly on use of expressionistic
credit design and stylization of acting through exaggerations. Through the theatrical design set, Robert
Wiene builds tension and drama to the scene and draws the views attention to the constructed nature
of the film.
The awakening scene in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is filmed in a theatrical manner, where the set is
on a stage, with distorted curtains and secretive shadows. The scene is carefully centered in the middle
to make the viewer less distracted of movement within the frame. The stage curtains work in favor of
the framing and like the clever set; the costume and makeup fit the bizarre arrangement and design of
the scene. The men in the audience are all dressed in gloomy and flowing long cloaks. To accentuate
Cesare s tall and lanky figure he is dressed in a fitting black leotard and his dark character is obscure
in darkness. His dead like face is covered thickly in heavy make up and his expression is as a warning
to the viewer. Caligari, on the other hand, has an eccentric look with crazy white hair and glasses.
When looking at the understanding of the inner frame in the scene, Cesare s expressive actions
contribute significantly. The state of trance is revealed by his sleek figure and androgynous
appearance in contrast to the other characters that are moving unusually quickly. By repeated close
ups of Cesare s hypnotic expression and tranquil figure forces the viewer to identify with him and
allows us to understand that he is restrained to react only from Dr. Caligari s commands. Cesare is
shot from a high angle ushering the viewer to join into his shocking state. The close up of Cesare s
exaggerated dark eyes, pallid

Walt Disney Set the Stage for Great Film Making Essay...
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them , said by Walt Disney himself (
Walt Disney Quotes ). Disney had a big imagination followed with big goals. As always in the
entertainment business, there are going to be people competing to tear each other down, but Walt
Disney kept his focus and determination to take on great things. All it took was one person with a
strong passion for entertainment to set the stage for filmmaking long after he was gone. Walt Disney
came from an Anglo Irish family that immigrated to Canada just before the potato famine ( Walt
Disney Interviewed by Fletcher Markle ). On December 5, 1901, Elias and Flora Disney welcomed
their fourth son into their home in Chicago, Illinois. When Walter ... Show more content on

After his time in Europe, he started working at the Pressman Rubin Studio in Kansas City as an artist
(Schwartz). While Disney was working in Kansas City he was co workers with Ubbe Iwerks. A year
after working at the studio, the two got laid off and moved onto bigger and better things. They created
their own business called Iwerks Disney Commercial Artists. The company was not so successful and
only last one month. The two friends stayed together as they passed through jobs. They worked at the
Kansas City Film Ad Company drawing cartoons for movie theaters. Disney took a camera from the
company to use for his stop action animation with his original drawings. His continuous practice on
his Laugh O Grams made them far more advanced than his studio work (Schwartz). Walt Disney made
puppets of his characters for his films instead of drawing them so he could save time and make the
process easier on himself and Iwerks ( Walt Disney Interviewed by Fletcher Markle ). After his boss at
the Kansas City Film Ad Company turned down his idea of cartoons, Disney reached out to Margaret
J. Winkler, a cartoon distributor in New York, about his Laugh O Grams. Winkler gladly agreed and
Disney signed a contract and moved to New York City. He named his business Disney Bros. Studio ,
but quickly changed to Walt Disney Studio after Alice in Cartoonland was shown in theaters. Disney
realized he and Iwerks could not handle all the work on their own so

She learned drawing, how to mix color, and how to paint. Since her father s style took inspiration from Caravaggio during that period, her style was just as heavily influenced in turn. A few motivational theories are effective in the Disney Company s culture. Psychologist Frederick Herzberg proposed the two factor theory otherwise known as motivation hygiene theory. This theory believes an individual s relationship to work is basic and that attitude toward work can very well determine success or failure (Robbins Judge, 2011). This theory is one for the Walt Disney Company. The founder Walt Disney s attitude toward the company from the beginning was to bring happiness to everyone that has any parts of the company. A happy founder gives off a chain reaction and therefore gives the company happy employees and customers. Employee s are happy and have job satisfaction shows it through his or her positivity and it reflects in one s job performance. Another motivational theory is a goal setting theory that the Disney Company uses to motivate their employees. A goal setting theory is a theory that says that specific and difficult goals with feedback, lead to higher performance (Robbins Judge, 2011). So says Mustapha Mond, the World Controller for Western Europe in Aldous Huxley s novel Brave New World. In doing so, he highlights a major theme in this story of a Utopian society. Although the people in this modernized world enjoy no disease, effects of old age, war, poverty, social unrest, or any other infirmities or discomforts, Huxley asks is the price they pay really worth the benefits? One might be led to believe that this society is a perfect place to live, since all the inhabitants are eternally happy. There are no wars, pain, or suffering, all definite pluses, yet readers must not judge too quickly. Othello s better than those feelies. Of course it is But that s the price we have to pay for stability. You ve got to choose between happiness and what people used to call high art. We ve sacrificed the high art. We have the feelies and the scent organ instead. But they don t mean anything, (Huxley 226) This conversation shows one of the tradeoffs made. Stories like Othello are inspired by strong emotions, and Utopia has done away with them. Now, there is nothing to write about, and if something was written along the lines of Othello it might cause people to think, causing instability. The movies people see are idiotic and plotless, based solely on sensations. Beyond Life Skills In the 1990s, work/life balance caught the attention of researchers, policymakers, and employers, resulting in the development of a range of employment benefits, legislation, and programs aimed at helping people cope. Life management or family/career management curricula emphasize coping through the development of skills in communication, interpersonal effectiveness, and money, time, stress, and household management (e.g., California Community Colleges 1998; Mathieson 1999). As Caproni (1997) notes, research, policy, and practice focused on work/life balance have raised important issues and brought about changes that have benefitted some families. However, these approaches are incomplete in several ways. As Niles et al. (2001) point out, the usefulness of these types of responses benefits different segments of society differently. • 24. Rhetorical Analysis Of Chief Powhatan A leader has many responsibilities as a role model and caretaker for their people. Facing hard challenges and knowing how to deal with them is a part of being a great leader all of which are Chief Powhatan showed. Chief Powhatan whose proper name was Wahunsenacawh, was the superior chief of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of Algonquian speaking Virginia Indians in the Tidewater region of Virginia at the time English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607. In his address to Captain John Smith Chief Powhatan expresses how he desires peace between the settlers and the Tsenacommacah. He utilizes distinct rhetorical elements such as rhetorical questions, diction and argumentation to further support his view on what he desired to occur between his people and the English settlers. Chief Powhatan begins to address his statement by using rhetorical questions in order to support his claim of peace. For example in lines 5 through 7 Powhatan says Why should you take by force that from us which you can have by love? Why should you destroy us who have provided you with food? What can you get by war? Obviously Powhatan doesn t expect Captain John Smith to answer his questions but he uses this in order to create a growing tension that drives a questioning mentality about whether using force is the best method when love is another alternative. He also recounts on how it is unwise and unethical to break ties with the people who have fed and given shelter to the settlers. Without them the settlers would be starving and freezing to death turning to barbaric methods of survival. In line 9, he continues to support his claim by saying what is the cause of this jealousy? , this is important because the settlers became envious of how the Tsenacommacah were so well developed, having shelter, and food. Having these benefits over the settlers Powhatan came to the conclusion that the settlers would attempt to pilfer all that the Tsenacommacah had acquired. With this in mind Powhatan decides to express his desire for peace so that neither side would eventually aim for violence from lines 9 through 15. Chief Powhatan continues to enhance his argument by using diction to add more emotion and meaning to the message he is trying to convey. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. The Death Of The Rainbow By Ntozake Shange Life can be full of hardship, deceit, and catastrophe. In life, everyone struggles to stay afloat the tsunami of troubles flooding them. However, some people struggle more than others, and some people face much tougher encumbrances. In For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When The Rainbow Is Enuf, Ntozake Shange shows each woman struggling to overcome a troubling past that leads them to question the value of their own lives. In order to free themselves from the issues suffocating them, they must eliminate the suffering part of themselves and unite to be reborn as stronger women. This is expressed through the predominant idea of suicide throughout the piece. Suicide can be defined as the act of killing oneself with intention. As drastic as this may sound, it can be perceived that Shange s play was not focusing on suicide in a literal term. Instead, she was focusing primarily on suicide in a figurative way. Suicide was used as a metaphor to illustrate the death of the traumatized parts of the women. The women in Shange s play lived their lives plagued with tragedy and abuse. In a sense, each woman had an experience that could truly justify committing suicide; however, the women beat the odds, and in the end they unite to prevail over the burdens affecting them. Most of the women in Shange s play were victims of heinous crimes. For example, the lady in red states: Women relinquish all personal rights/in the presence of a man/who apparently cd be considered a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. The Communist Manifesto Calling On The Workers Of The World Few events in history capture the attention of scholars and the general populace alike more than revolutionary contentious politics. Revolts and social movements have for centuries brought about the most radical of changes to the political order of societies, at times even engulfing entire regions of the world in a contagious, fevered upheaval. Revolutionaries have fought not only against political systems and institutions such as aristocratic and colonial rule; they have also fought for their beliefs, values, and ideals. In 1848, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels published The Communist Manifesto calling on the workers of the world to unite. Revolutionaries radicalized by the ideas of liberalism and nationalism took to the barricades as socialists promoting the concept of regional and world revolution helping to spark the modern spread of the notion referred to as revolutionary waves . What factors are attributed with influencing an individual to rise up against an entrenched political system and possibly risk their life to completely upend the historical order of things and wipe the slate clean to enable present and future generations to create their own reality? Until recently, the power of the people and their ability to mobilize and demand had often been underestimated. Thomas Schelling once reflected that tyrants and subjects are in somewhat symmetrical positions. Subjects are capable of denying the tyrant most of what it wants through refusing to collaborate. The simplicity of their upbringing impacts their view of individuals and establishes a destitute of vision towards the truth. They include adapting one overall IC vision, enhancing current agency to agency communication, and furthering foreign relations within the IC. One of the first priorities to establish which would add a large benefit to the IC would be to have one vision with a joint strategy on how to achieve the vision. In this essay I will explain how international students can overcome tough challenges and situations. The first challenge, and in my opinion the most crucial challenge that I had to face was learning the English language, and communicating with different people. Almost every international student is faced with this challenge; Alberto Fernández Fernández said, International students often face adjustment issues impacting their level of satisfaction with their experience. These involve oral language proficiency, as well as feelings of anxiety and isolation resulting from language deficiencies . This challenge was important for me to overcome due to the fact that I am here for the sole purpose to study in an American University, so obviously I am required to learn the language. • 37. The Society Of The United States Some social behaviors are so ingrained in people s day to day lives that they would never notice them unless they were pointed out. One such behavior that is so often overlooked is the preferential treatment that certain groups receive over others. The privileges of the dominate social groups over the subordinate ones go so unnoticed at times that they are even seen as just innately how things should be. In the contemporary society of the United States, the group with these privileges is often White males, and the majority of them would disagree about that statement. Surprisingly, the group that gets the most treatment feels the most abused. This only highlights the obliviousness accompanying those to which this invisible power belongs. However, each person, at one point, has been advantaged over another without realizing it. I have experienced many freedoms throughout my life that others around me have not. For instance, as a young, White female, I can walk up to almost any stranger of any age without them being suspicious or afraid of me. A Black man isn t able to say that. This difference has nothing to do with who I am as a person, but rather how society perceives I will behave based on how I look. • 42. Analysis Of Mise En Scene In The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari A scene analysis of Cesare s awakening The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Robert Wiene In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Robert Wiene cleverly uses mise en scene and cinematography to add to the eeriness and originality in the scene of Cesare s awakening. The scene is important to the overall film because it instills the viewer to believe that there will be a connoting between Cesare and Alan. The purpose can be seen in the reverse shot sequence at the end of the scene in the dialogue How long do I have to live? Till dawn tomorrow. The scene is based highly on use of expressionistic credit design and stylization of acting through exaggerations. Through the theatrical design set, Robert Wiene builds tension and drama to the scene and draws the views attention to the constructed nature of the film. The awakening scene in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is filmed in a theatrical manner, where the set is on a stage, with distorted curtains and secretive shadows. The scene is carefully centered in the middle to make the viewer less distracted of movement within the frame. The stage curtains work in favor of the framing and like the clever set; the costume and makeup fit the bizarre arrangement and design of the scene. The men in the audience are all dressed in gloomy and flowing long cloaks. To accentuate Cesare s tall and lanky figure he is dressed in a fitting black leotard and his dark character is obscure in darkness. His dead like face is covered thickly in heavy make up and his expression is as a warning to the viewer. Caligari, on the other hand, has an eccentric look with crazy white hair and glasses. When looking at the understanding of the inner frame in the scene, Cesare s expressive actions contribute significantly. The state of trance is revealed by his sleek figure and androgynous appearance in contrast to the other characters that are moving unusually quickly. By repeated close ups of Cesare s hypnotic expression and tranquil figure forces the viewer to identify with him and allows us to understand that he is restrained to react only from Dr. Caligari s commands.
