Multiple Sclerosis Mobility
For approximately 19 years I have had Multiple Sclerosis, experiencing serious problems with
mobility in 2015. There is a significant amount of spasticity in my legs, which makes the basic
mechanics of walking extremely labored, muscular imbalances and general weakness create safety
concerns with simply lifting my legs and bending my knees. Moreover, the cold weather paralyzes my
muscles, making movement extremely difficult, and occasionally impossible. Therefore, I reached out
to my Primary Care Physician, Dr. Elizabeth Lykling, during my annual visit, and we discussed my
concerns of commuting back and forth to work in the winter months, and the possibility of my
working from home all of January and February, with March on a case by case

My Purpose Of School
At some point in our lives we have all asked the question What is the purpose of school? Why must I
learn this? . Some say school is simply preparation for employment and for the rest of our lives. I
enjoy school; however, I have always found it to be rather difficult and pointless being in the French
immersion stream and this was due to the lack of help I received from my mother and father unlike
many of my peers whose parents attended university and spoke both English and French fluently.
Everyone faces a variety of challenges and I have always tried my hardest to do my best and
overcome any challenges I face in order to succeed as well as make myself and my parents proud. In
elementary school, I discovered my weakness for French. It was the subject I abhorred; reading,
spelling and grammar were concepts I could not grasp. As a result of my academic struggles, I would
often become frustrated and cry. Perhaps what had stained my academic experience the most was in
sixth grade, our teacher invented a game called Autour du monde A game where we would go around
the class answering grammar questions that were given to us with the objective of improving our
French. I waited in vain for my turn to be over, only then to be made fun of by my teacher and peers
when I couldn t conjugate a verb in passé compose. It was humiliating that my teacher who was
supposed to support and inspire me to do my best, was instead putting me down in front of all my
peers. My parents had

Jainism And Suicide
The Merriam Webster definition of suicide is the act or an instance of taking one s own life voluntarily
and intentionally; in some religions, this is a ritual act ( Suicide ). Jainism is a religion found
worldwide, with the greatest following in India, that practices Sallekhana: fasting until death. Among
the well known suicide risk factors however, religion is not included. An individual partaking in this
voluntary practice is deeply respected in Jain communities but highly misunderstood by outsiders.
Fasting to death as a religious ritual and other methods of suicide are viewed differently amongst
communities based on the function it serves for them. Supporters of Sallekhana argue that physical
death is the only shared characteristic between suicide and this ritual (Shah 52). Included in the
definition of suicide is any act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are there several different explanations of afterlife or lack thereof, some deaths have unclear
causes. One can argue that social pressures such as academic pressures to succeed and the pressure to
conform to societal norms are a prominent factor that leads an individual to committing suicide. On
the same note, religion is a social pressure that can be seen as a factor leading Jains to take the
Sallekhana vow. Martin demonstrates this influence when he states that what we are as humans is a
result or product of the concepts and practices in our societies (Martin 27). In Clifford Geertz working
definition of religion, one of the necessary components he emphasizes is religious concepts being
portrayed as reality: the only way to live (Geertz 90). A religious person may acknowledge the
lifestyle differences of others, but it is not seen as the proper way to live. This aspect of religion lends
itself to social constructionism, and explains the conflict that arises with definitions of suicide and

Application for Chemical Engineering at Princetone University
My life is all about problem solving: managing to live a difficult life in America after turning thirteen,
finding out of the box to achieve my goals in debate, art, and HOSA, helping other teenagers with
problems they struggle with... Designing a seemingly impossible pathway for me and others to
succeed is my way of life, and a chemical engineer takes that to the next level.
Everything around us from a bar of soup to a bucket of paint involves chemical engineering. The
profession is not only about my favorite subjects, chemistry and math, but also about creating ideas,
innovation, and new technology. This is what chemical engineers do, solving problems not just for one
person, but for everyone. And being part of that amazing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have also competed at many local academic competitions in chemistry, math and biology, placing 1st
at the Chadron Scholastic Chemistry Contest, 1st (twice) at the 2011 and 2012 West River
Mathematics Contest, and 3rd at the West River Biology Contest.
Nevertheless, my current living situation offers me limited opportunities to explore the world of
chemical engineering. Attending XXX University would mean the world to me giving me a chance to
pursue my dreams with renowned professors such as XXX in an advanced laboratory and with people
who share the same interests. At Princeton University, I can further explore the world of chemical
engineering through Freshmen seminars, once again working with my peers. I am especially interested
in the fall seminar Materials World at Mathey College, learning the technical processing and
applications of materials around us. In addition, the spring seminar Emerging Micro and Nano
Engineered Technologies at Rockefeller College can also give me the opportunity to deepen my
understanding of engineering.
On top of everything, Princeton offers me amazing research opportunities I cannot find anywhere else.
I intend to arrange summer employment at Princeton doing research with faculty members. I also

Personal Reflection For Personal Assignment
The purpose behind this assignment from my own understanding is for a couple of reasons. One of
them is to help improve and practice report writings/responses, while another reason is to express
what we believe our strengths and weaknesses will be in this chosen career path. This assignment is
beneficial because it will prepare us for future writing assignments in the program, and better
understand how we will be graded. It will also help us reflect on what skills we think we can bring to
the table, along with weaknesses we can improve on. It will be a useful assignment to reflect on my
own personal strengths, and will be a beneficial tool to my success in this program. This career choice
(specifically EMS dispatching) is something I m hoping I could be exceptional at because of my
experience working as an EMT. I attended PMA in 2014 where I learned a variety of useful skills from
great instructors that could easily crossover to dispatching. I then mastered these skills out on the
field, working hand in hand with Emergency Services! I like to think with this experience I can bring
quick decision making skills to the table; as well as limited medical knowledge for certain situations
when necessary. I have experience in triaging, and can handle stressful situations exceptionally well
while staying emotionally detached. In fact, nothing was more thrilling to me then heading to a call
full lights and sirens! There s no better feeling than conquering those tough decisions, and knowing
you ve done all you can to help someone. I also bring excellent communication skills to the table due
to my large personality and theatre experience in high school. When I say large personality, I don t
mean it in an obnoxious way. It s more so in a personable way, where I love talking to people and am
outgoing. It s helpful to have when your trying to keep someone on the phone during a tough call, or
when you need to keep a person calm in a stressful situation. It s important to be able to talk to people
without being shy or nervous, and having them feel like they can trust and rely on you. This is also an
important skill to have when you work alongside other coworkers, you need to be able to speak up and
get along with your peers

Piggy Conscious Mind Analysis
Piggy As the Conscious Mind
The book Lord of The Flies, by William Golding has the theory of Freud s Id, Ego, and Superego

According to the book, Piggy is a young British boy physically vulnerable to all the boys because of
his asthma, being overweight and having to wear glasses. Piggy wiped his glasses and adjusted them
on his button nose. The frame had made a deep, pink V on the bridge. (William Golding, pg58). Not

appearance and Piggy tries to convince them not to be called by Piggy because it resembles himself
being overweight. Wishing to be the leader of everyone Piggy tries to make sure everyone understands
the right to do, but cannot because of the appearance placed on himself to the rest of the boys. Which

Do you know anyone who showed courage? I believe courage can be shown in many ways. One way
to show courage is standing up for what you believe in, even if it is wrong. Another way to show
courage is singing out loud, even if you are bad at it. More importantly, these people gave courage a
new meaning. The three individuals who displayed courage were Tobymac, Martin Luther King Jr,
and Rosa Parks because they all stood up for what is right two of them stood up for black rights and
one stood up for his religion. Tobymac showed it by standing up for his religious beliefs; Martin
Luther King Jr. by sticking up for African American rights. Tobymac shows a lot of courage in his

Outline Of The Workup Of Cervical Lymphadenopathy
Discuss the workup of cervical lymphadenopathy. How would your recommendations differ for adult,
pediatric, and geriatric patients? Cervical lymphadenopathy is the enlargement or swelling of the
cervical lymph nodes. Cervical lymph nodes are the lymph nodes located at the anterior and posterior
aspect of the neck and under the jaw. A thorough knowledge of the anatomy of the neck is essential to
formulate a differential diagnosis. Cervical lymphadenopathy is not uncommon, especially in children
and therefore differential diagnoses are broad (Lang, Kansy, 2014). The causes of cervical
lymphadenopathy can be infections, autoimmune disorders, or malignancy. What test would you do
first and why? First and foremost, thing to do when a patient comes with cervical lymphadenopathy is
to get a detailed history. The history should include questions such as the onset of lump; pain on lump;
if the lump is unilateral or bilateral and other lumps present anywhere else in the body; any associated
symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, hemoptysis, night sweats, weight loss, or
poor appetite; and any recent foreign travel, upper respiratory infection or TB exposure. It may be
necessary to obtain a detailed sexual, smoking and drug abuse history. Next step is the physical
examination by palpating the nodes to assess the size, shape, matting and consistency (Mohseni et al.,
2014). In addition, check for tenderness, mobility, erythema and warmth. It is important to

The Islands Of Cape Verde

The islands of Cape Verde were exposed and colonized by the Portuguese in the 15th century. Cape
Verde later became a trading center for African slaves and later a significant resting stop for long haul
shipping. Ensuing independence in 1975 and a faltering interest in unification with Guinea Bissau,
which is a one party system that was established in the 1990. Cape Verde also remains to exhibit one
of Africa s greatest steady democratic governments. Recurrent droughts in the 20th century caused
major suffering and encouraged heavy immigration. Thus, Cabo Verde s refugee population is greater
than its national one. Majority of Cape Verdean s like myself have both African and Portuguese
antecedents. There is a lot of Cape Verdean s that live in Rhode Island that moved away from the Cape

Big Data And Business Innovation
Introduction In this modern age of constant technological advancement and business innovation, a
relatively new feature has unlocked more potential for businesses to improve: Big Data. Big Data can
be defined in many different ways. It has become important primarily for business decision making.
One aspect of business that Big Data is now affecting is the auditing profession. Many opportunities
exist for Big Data to improve the standard auditing procedure. However, certain challenges may
prevent it from assisting in its full potential. In addition to challenges in the auditing profession, Big
Data also has its own ethical implications. In this report, all of these facets of Big Data will be
discussed in detail.
Definitions Big Data refers to the large amounts of data that businesses deal with on a day to day
basis. Big Data can be defined in many ways, but this is one of the most general definitions. One of
the primary uses businesses have for Big Data is to provide assistance for decision making. In order
for Big Data to be effective, organizations must utilize the data to their advantage. The quality of
information is what matters, not the quantity. Organizations may have virtually unlimited amounts of
data to work with, but they must locate the helpful portions of data in order for it to be effective and
serve its purpose. In addition, some data may not be helpful at the present moment in time, but will be
needed for analysis in the future ( What Is Big Data? ,

and take a free fall down a hill. Then you continue to speed up as you do another twist. After that, you
will be using centripetal force and centripetal acceleration as you do a loop. After the loop you use
momentum to do a sharp turn and go up two tiny hills. Finally, you reach the end of the ride and

Healthy Populations, pandemic can be defined as, An epidemic occurring worldwide, or over a very
wide area, crossing international boundaries and affecting a large number of people (Riegelman,
Kirkwood, 2015). The World Health Organization estimates that 43 million children worldwide are
overweight or obese, with the United States leading the numbers (WHO, 2016). About one in three
children and teenagers in America are obese. Obesity can lead to a variety of other serious health
issues, such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, high blood pressure, and other health risks. Finding
effective interventions and programs to reverse obesity rates is essential. Obesity is one hundred
percent preventable and treatable.
Intervention Strategy 1: Obesity Prevention Programs
Childhood obesity is continuing to grow at a rapid and dangerous pace. It is vital for the population to
be educated on practicing a healthy life style to prevent obesity. A study done by C. Nathan Marti, Eric

Minds, Brains, and Science by John R. Searle
Functionalism remains, to this day, one of the most influential theories of the mind. While many facets
of functionalism has been tested throughout the century, one of the more interesting questions came in
the form of computers. Similarly to a human brain, could computers also think? This idea was
explored by John R. Searle, in his book titled, Minds, Brains, and Science. The author is a renowned
American philosopher, particularly in the philosophy of language and mind, and is currently teaching
at the University of California, in Berkeley ( John R. Searle, 2014). Searle earned his Ph.D. in
philosophy at Oxford, and has made several contributions to his field on topics, such as consciousness,
artificial intelligence, and the problem of free will ( John R. Searle, 2014). His Chinese Room
experiment is known as one of the main critiques to the concept of artificial intelligence. In Searle s
book, Searle describes his thought process into this experiment during the second chapter, titled Can
Computers Think? Searle s purpose of this chapter in the book is to explain his perspective on the idea
that digital computers will never develop the capability to form thought processes, and that a concept
such as artificial intelligence could never exist, because our mental states exist in a biological manner.
He utilizes his Chinese Room argument to aid in the development of his objectives.

Determination of Specific Heat
Determination of specific heat
Capacity of a solid by electrical method
Introduction
Thermal conductivity heat is transferred as a consequence of temperature difference between 2 bodies,
heat energy passes form a hotter to the colder body. Specific heat capacity is the amount of heat
energy required in joules to raise 1kg of a substance by 1 degree Celsius, different substances absorb
heat energy at different rates not all substances require the same amount of heat energy to increase the
internal temperature of a substance this depends on the mass and the material it s self. To demonstrate
specific heat capacity of a solid an experiment was carried out using 1kg aluminium mass and 1kg
copper mass heat was conducted to the masses by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for this is that copper s molecules are more densely packed and so it is a good conductor of
heat, and when 1 kg of each substance are compared visually it is easily seen that 1kg of copper mass
is far smaller than 1kg of aluminium mass. Aluminium is more efficient at radiating or dispersing heat
as it is less dense which also makes it a lighter material.
Overall this experiment has successfully reached its objectives however some errors have occurred as
shown in the experimental errors where the experimental values do not match the actual values of the
materials this could be caused by heat loss through the material which could be reduced with better
insulation of the material. Further error could have been avoided in the first experiment by letting the
heating element reach its maximum output before inserting it into the aluminium block as the warm up
time is not taken into consideration in the first experiment; this was not a factor in the second
experiment as the heating element was immediately placed into the copper block and was at its
maximum

The Literary Style Of Cavendish s The Blazing World
In the epilogue of The Blazing World, Cavendish puts forth that anyone who does not wish to be a
subject of her world can instead create their own (Cavendish 163), but how does one do this? In the
story, the Empress asserts that in order to create a world one must frame it, strengthen it, and beautify
it (126). The literary world that she creates in The Blazing World itself follows this system as her use
of structured lists, her descriptions of the strength of her society and her use of poetic techniques in
prose each support these ideas. This principal of world creation can be seen not only throughout The
Blazing World, but through her poetry as well. In her poem Of Many Worlds in This World, Cavendish
is able to convey these three rules of world building through both form and content while creating a
whole system of worlds for the reader to imagine. The passage of The Blazing World that this essay
will focus on is a passage in which the Duchess convinces the Empress to make a world in her mind
which the Empress decides not to dissolve. The passage ends with the Empress desiring to see the
Duchess s world and it s government and society. This passage not only creates a world within the
text, a world filled with creatures, laws, arts and sciences (126), but adds to the greater world of the
story that Cavendish creates. In this passage one can see a bit of how Cavendish creates her world
through both the content of the passage and form. This passage exhibits the framing

The Doctrine Of Salvation And Salvation
DOCTRINE OF SALVATION
INTRODUCTION
This week we have studied soteriology or the doctrine of salvation. Salvation must be grounded in the
work of Christ and is how God saves what was lost to sin and death and restores life. Salvation is
called many things, i.e. redemption, resurrection, victory, peace, rebirth, or ransom. However, the New
Testament contains two primary descriptions of salvation, the arrival of God s kingdom and
justification of the ungodly by faith in Christ. (Lecture 2). This paper will examine these two
descriptions.
THE KINGDOM OF GOD Jesus began his ministry in Galilee by proclaiming that the kingdom of
God and telling people that the time had come to repent because the kingdom was at hand. (Matthew
4:17, 23). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul Jesus work concerned adjudicating the covenant God established with Abraham which was later
mediated by the law given to Moses by God. (Lecture 2). In Old Testament days, there was great
emphasis on obeying the letter of the law. Jesus taught the spirit of the law. In Paul s theology,
salvation comes through God saving one from one s sin and thereby saving one from the demands of
the law. Being justified by faith in Christ rather than by one s fulfillment of the law means being open
to loving others for who they are, humans made in God s image. (Lecture 2). The Westminster Shorter
Catechism defines justification this way, Justification is an act of God s free grace, wherein he
pardoneth all our sin, and accepteth us as righteous in his sight, only for the righteousness of Christ
imputed to us, and received by faith alone. (Bird, 2013, p. 562). Justification by faith liberates us from
having to do it myself. Christ died for us and so long as we believe that fact we have salvation. We are
no longer compelled to define ourselves as good or just or true, and we are free to love our neighbor
for his sake. Luther speaks to the question of works by stating, more than once, So, also, our works
should be done, not that we may be justified by them, since, being justified beforehand by faith, we
ought to do all things freely and joyfully for the sake of others. (Peters, 2014,

I touched on the supplemental nature of these awards. In my opinion making these awards
supplemental short changes the recipient, they have displayed superior proficiency and leadership
within the regiment. While they have been officially recognized by the award, it doesn t help them
achieve promotion above their peers, add promotion points to their promotion worksheet, or even give
them an addition ribbon for their rack. The awards are essentially the equivalent of a coin, while you
are being thanked for your superior service, they possess little benefit for the individual toward
promotion. Transitioning the regimental awards to a more official status could make the awards more
prestigious, inspire greater competition for the awards, and help recipients advance within the
regiment. All of these afore mentioned, benefit the Engineer Regiment as a whole, and would help
individuals demonstrating proficiency move through the ranks more rapidly than their

Divine Command Theory Of Religion
The name divine command theory is a ethical theory to believe on God and God s existence.
According to, divine command theory our good decisions and directions are made by God. Every
religion have some kind of directional books which is provided by God or his assistance/phropets such
as The Bible in Christian, Quran in Islam, and Bhagat Gita in Hindu. These books gives directions or
guides to people about what is morally right or wrong. However, there are some questions comes with
divine command theory. If God say doing a particular thing is good, but in reality it may seems wrong
to do that things and it happens in many times. For example, in Islam they sacrifice cow in a specific
day of the year name Eid Ul Azha. They sacrifice the animal and share the beef among family,
neighbors, and to the poor people. These things are commanded by Allah/God in islam. On the other
hand, in Hindu religion, eating beef is prohibited. Hindu respect cow as their mother according to their
religious guide. However, some people also does not support to kill animal and they fell sorry for
them. Moreover, in Hindu religion, husband is God for the wife and they have to follow everything
according too their husband. This thing is so wrong in other religious people and also many hindu
women do not accept it. However, some of the hindu comes strongly follow this. So, if a person

Demetrio Macias Characters In The Underdogs
Leadership Roles of Demetrio Macias

November 4th, 2014
In The Underdogs written by Mariano Azuela, the protagonist, Demetrio Macias is symbolized as the
fuel of the Mexican Revolution. Heroes like Macias gave hope to the oppressed people of Mexico by
fighting for what they felt they truly deserved, but, ironically, later becomes what he was fighting
against. He does show great leadership and determination to oppress Pancho Villa s army. Pancho
Villa, the dictator of Mexico during this revolutionary time, also shows prolific leadership qualities
and care for his people; much like Demetrio Macias. However, at times Villa can be a ferocious
general who destroyed villiages and killed innocent victims, he shows his compassion who helped
those in need and rescued orphans providing them with food, education, and a home. Pancho Villa was
a leader who only asked for your loyalty and trust, but was cruel when people tried to oppose him.

Celebrates Ovid In The Legend Of Philomela
Dr. Jessica Edmondes
SEL 1023: Transformations
15 April 2016
How Geoffrey Chaucer Translates Ovid in The Legend of Philomela There have been many different
translations of Ovid s Metamorphoses over the years such as Ted Hughes Creation: Four Ages; Flood;
Lyacon, A.D. Melville s Tereus, Procne, Philomela, and Geoffrey Chaucer s The Legend of Philomela,
each being more different than the last. Geoffrey Chaucer s The Legend of Philomela translates Ovid
by shifting the perspective of the story from Tereus to Philomela while making her the protagonist.
Chaucer s translation gives the reader the idea that he is much more sympathetic towards women, is

In Kline s version, there are many allusions to Greek gods and mythology such as Titan, the
Eumenides, the Furies, and the River Styx. It makes sense for Ovid to reference these ancient Greek
gods and mythological creatures because the audience he was writing to may have believed in Greek
mythology and its teachings when he wrote The Metamorphoses in 8 AD. However, in Chaucer s
work, a Christian God is mentioned several times as well as Greek gods and mythology, such as Juno
and Bacchus temple. Chaucer mentions God in his translation to appeal to the audience he was writing
to in the 14th century which was most likely a predominately Christian population but keeps some of
the original Greek mythological ties so the myth of Philomela still parallels Ovid s original

Assess The Difference Between Sympathy And Empathy
Sympathy and empathy means when individuals try to let people know that they understand their
struggles (Edwards, 2014). Sympathizing and empathizing means, individuals wish to comfort others
in times of struggle. On the other hand, it is imperative to know that there are main differences
between sympathy and empathy (Edwards, 2014). They are quite similar, but that does not mean they
are the same. If we sympathize or empathize with anyone, we often make our efforts in showing how
we relate to their personalities. Having a profound understanding of personality will assist create a
personal determinant when we try to distinguish between empathy and sympathy. For example, an
individual who known as an unsocial is going to encounter many challenges in distinguishing between
the two than someone who known as an open minded person (Edwards, 2014). To differentiate

Nazi racial policies significantly influenced and impacted Jewish life throughout the course of 1933

When Germany realised the first world war a situation destined for failure, an Armistice was signed.
The Armistice, signed by Germany, France and Germany on November 1918, was an agreement to

imposed by the allies in 1919. The treaty states that Germany had to accept full responsibility for the
war, dismantle their army, take assigned liability for reparations in addition to losing with over a tenth
of their territory. This was perceived as a humiliation by the public and to Hitler. His bigotry and
irrational beliefs led him to suspect that Jews were the ones accountable for the loss and preventing
the progression of Germany. His manipulative rhetoric and nationalistic fervour found resonance in an
anti Semitic society. Hitler s great success with them brought him into leadership in a small nationalist
political party. The Nazi Party was later banned posterior to the abortive attempt in subverting the

struggling with intensifies. With the humiliating defeat, deteriorated government and economic
collapse still fresh in the minds of many, Hitler seized this as an opportunity and promised to restore

by winning 36% of the votes when he ran for the presidency in 1932. By 1933, Hitler was appointed
as chancellor by the president as the popularity of the Nazi Party would be beneficial to the
government. He was able to convince the government to grant him emergency powers, then within a
matter of months, Anti Jewish laws were passed. When the president died in 1943, it was evident that

The Meatpacking Factory Case Summary
CASE ONE:
THE MEATPACKING FACTORY
The Meatpacking Factory is a case study involving the decision of a factory manager to let his Muslim
workers observe their faith by taking breaks at sunrise and sundown during their holy month of
Ramadan. James Windham, the factory manager, thought their request was well warranted and felt he
should be considerate of the religious beliefs of his employees. There are about 100 Muslim workers
which represents 20% of the employee population at the factory. To Windham s dismay, the breaks

My Grab Bag Speech
I have never taken a public speaking course before getting into college, finding myself too stressed to
calm down in the class of CC 100 11. I experienced the most anxious moment before I did my Grab
Bag speech. Though I was so nervous, I finally finished it with all my efforts. In general, I feel that my
Grab Bag speech is good enough for me as the first challenge, despite of the lack of experience in
preparation, missing parts of the outline and the overwhelming anxiety. Therefore, I also give myself
some advice and set an aim to achieve.
Before the delivering of the speech, preparation is crucial given that it gives the speaker a clear clue of
what his should talk about, how he can organize his speech and how he can perform well in front of
specific groups of audiences. Once my topic is decided, according to Joshua, I should further narrow
my topic and find the most three points, which are the magic numbers (136) , by going through the
general speech purpose. In this case, my purpose is to inform or teach about myself, thus I chose
anime , horror movie , and spicy food . I started preparing through this point, yet I failed to consider
more about my organization . In my original speech outline, I simply put these all three things together
without considering any order. As it says that you want to do so in a way that is manageable to you as
a speaker and memorable to a listening audience (Joshua, 135) , speaker should better to create an
organized speech for audience. Considering that I want to emphasize who I am, I should use topical
order which tells different characteristics. By correcting my original speech outline, the spicy food
which tells about my identity should go first, then horror movie goes next, and at last my favorite
anime on which I should strongly emphasize should end the speech.
Additionally, I find out that I should change my use in language for the opening and summary. It s
obvious that often the thesis statement overlaps significantly with the purpose of a speech, but not
always (Joshua, 87). I started my speech thesis by saying So today I am going to show you three
artifacts which are all my favorites and can determine who I am. They are anime, horror movie and

Product Liability Essay
Product Liability This week s question concerns liability and moral responsibility in consumer
products. As the question is multi part, the answer will be likewise. To begin, the first question
addresses who should be liable for the voluntary actions of others. Specifically, if substantial
information concerning the hazards of a product or service has been offered to the consumer, who is to
blame if someone is injured? Similar to most questions derived from this course, the answer is it
depends. From a legal standpoint, the contract or arrangement must first be analyzed. If, for example,
the activity is a high risk activity such as sky diving or feeding sharks on a scuba dive, then the legal
concept of duty of care obviously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an ethical light, this arrangement of reasonable liability division is in keeping with our
understanding of moral rights in the economic sense. According to the negative right of freedom of
consent, all parties should be free to make any arrangement to which both parties agree. It is a moral
imperative in this free consenting agreement or contract that both parties fully disclose all pertinent
aspects of the arrangement, in this case, the disclosing of the inherent risks involved with jumping out
of an airplane (Velasquez, 330). Once both parties are satisfied with the conditions of the agreement,
they are free to commit to the agreement via contract. The buyer has freely accepted the risk of the
product, and the seller has fulfilled his obligation to provide enough information for the buyer to make
an educated decision. The liability transfers from the seller to the buyer once both parties have freely
and knowledgeably entered the contractual agreement. In this arrangement, the rights of all parties
have been preserved. Additionally, this arrangement fulfills the deontological requirements of an
ethical contract. The seller has a moral duty to provide the safest product possible in relation to the
nature of that product. The seller also has an obligation to disclose information about his or her
product that could cause

Why The Homeless Rates Are Going Up And The Loss Of...
Many (e.g,Gultai, 1990: McChesney, 1990) argue that changes in federal social policies have played a
significant role in the rise in homelessness and particularly in the increase in the number of homeless
families (Family Relations. 1995,44.13 18.) Homelessness is defined as a condition where people
cannot live or afford regular, safe and secure homes, warm meals or to be fully clothed. It s also
defined differently in many countries or regions. It also includes that some homeless people shelter is
a cardboard box, shelters that may or may not have room, the sides of the interstate as well as living in

living on the streets or living in different shelters day by day. Some that are homeless due to their
actions some are homeless because of something they could not control. Living on the streets or

bridges, old worn down houses, even junk yard cars to find some warmth for the night. Then the next
day they are looking for another area to sleep. Then they hunt for spare change and food. One of the

Compare And Contrast Southwest Airlines And United Airlines
Southwest Airlines vs. United Airlines: Mission Statement Analysis
There exist different leadership styles and cultures that appear in organizations. There are companies
that thrive on servant leadership models and creating a positive environment for growth. Other
organizations focus on putting the customer first. In this essay, an analysis will take place on airline
companies Southwest Airlines and United Airlines including what they stand for, who they are, and

Mission statements greatly impact an organization s culture. They set the morals and values
companies have for their employees and workplace. The mission statement is a summary of all the

A Historical Framework For The Contemporary Racial Of Mexico
With the recent discovery of 1.38 million Afro Mexicans based on a population survey conducted in

ancestry in Mexico (Quartz). First, why were nearly 1.4 million Afro Mexicans not recognized in
Mexico s population census by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, which began data
collection of Mexican citizens in 1983 (Colorlines)? Secondly, how has their lack of representation at
the national level impacted them geographically?

Additionally, I will outline the static nature of Afro Mexican identity through an analysis of the
popular cartoon Memin Penguin. I will explain how this stagnant representation of Mexican blackness
isolates the Costa Chica of Guerrero from other spaces in Mexico. I will conclude by addressing why
this topic is significant to my scholarship as a student and what I hope further scholarly investigation

Before I unpack social racism in Mexico, it is important to distinguish two key points for reading this
paper. First, I use the terms African or Africanness and black or blackness interchangeably to represent
specifically Afro Mexicans in the Costa Chica of Guerrero who identify racially as black. Secondly,
white is used to distinguish White Mexicans while mestizo[s] signifies racially mixed Mexicans with
predominantly Spanish European and Indigenous Amerindian ancestry (Jerry). Mexico s Social
Racism
In order to understand how 1.38 million Afro Mexicans have remained hidden, I must first recount
their origins in Mexico dating back to the Spanish colonial era. During the 16th and 17th century,
100,000 250,000 African slaves were forcibly transported to New Spain to work on the sugarcane
plantations (Githiora). Most arrived at the Veracruz Port in South Central Mexico along the Gulf Coast

1848 Women s Rights Convention Essay
Through out history, Americans have fought for the rights of freedom in their country, freedoms that
have been passed down through dozen s of generations. Freedom s such as religion, speech, press,
slavery and the right to vote. Americans, though very aware of their freedoms, often take them for
granted and forget the struggles that their ancestors went through to obtain them. One example of this
struggle is a woman s right to be treated and looked upon by the government as equals. This was not
an easy battle to win, and it took a strong few to begin to bring the struggle that women had faced for

Daniel Shays As An American Officer
Daniel Shays
Daniel Shays served role as an American officer in the American Revolution from 1775 to 1780 and
also became known as one of the leaders of Shays Rebellion, which lasted from 1786 to 1787. In 1780
he resigned from the army, and settled in Pelham, Massachusetts, where he held numerous town
offices. Soon after, wealth reigned in America at the signing of the peace treaty in 1783, but was
quickly transformed into a severe economic depression. He began his rebellion when property holders,
including himself, began losing their belongings through confiscations for unpaid debts and taxes and
became subject to debtor s imprisonment. Protests then followed, with threats of violence against the
courts conducting the enforcements and arraignments. This is when Shays arose as one of the several
leaders of what came to be known as Shays Rebellion. After the Rebellion was over, he and
approximately a dozen others were sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Massachusetts.
However, towards the end of the rebellion, Shays had escaped to Vermont, soon afterwards he moved
to Schoharie county, New York, and then a few years later moved further west to Sparta, New York.
Shays, in his old age, was granted a retirement pension by the federal government for the five years he
served in the Continental Army without pay. He lived the last couple years of his life in poverty, as a
heavy drinker and supported himself on his pension by working a small piece of land. He later

2. Become a retailer. eBay has an access to hugest online marketplace in the world and is well placed
to take an advantage of that by becoming a retailer. The company has its IT and CRM systems in place
already and could easily stake out a market share from Amazon and other online retailers.
3. Increase services portfolio through acquisition. The company has successfully acquired many
companies to extend its services offering and should continue adding new services through mergers
and acquisitions.
4. Open more online stores in other countries. To sustain current growth levels, eBay could open its
online marketplaces in other large and growing economies in Asia and Europe.

  • 2. Multiple Sclerosis Mobility For approximately 19 years I have had Multiple Sclerosis, experiencing serious problems with mobility in 2015. There is a significant amount of spasticity in my legs, which makes the basic mechanics of walking extremely labored, muscular imbalances and general weakness create safety concerns with simply lifting my legs and bending my knees. Moreover, the cold weather paralyzes my muscles, making movement extremely difficult, and occasionally impossible. Therefore, I reached out to my Primary Care Physician, Dr. Elizabeth Lykling, during my annual visit, and we discussed my concerns of commuting back and forth to work in the winter months, and the possibility of my working from home all of January and February, with March on a case by case ... • 3. My Purpose Of School At some point in our lives we have all asked the question What is the purpose of school? Why must I learn this? . Some say school is simply preparation for employment and for the rest of our lives. I enjoy school; however, I have always found it to be rather difficult and pointless being in the French immersion stream and this was due to the lack of help I received from my mother and father unlike many of my peers whose parents attended university and spoke both English and French fluently. Everyone faces a variety of challenges and I have always tried my hardest to do my best and overcome any challenges I face in order to succeed as well as make myself and my parents proud. In elementary school, I discovered my weakness for French. It was the subject I abhorred; reading, spelling and grammar were concepts I could not grasp. As a result of my academic struggles, I would often become frustrated and cry. Perhaps what had stained my academic experience the most was in sixth grade, our teacher invented a game called Autour du monde A game where we would go around the class answering grammar questions that were given to us with the objective of improving our French. I waited in vain for my turn to be over, only then to be made fun of by my teacher and peers when I couldn t conjugate a verb in passé compose. It was humiliating that my teacher who was supposed to support and inspire me to do my best, was instead putting me down in front of all my peers. My parents had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jainism And Suicide The Merriam Webster definition of suicide is the act or an instance of taking one s own life voluntarily and intentionally; in some religions, this is a ritual act ( Suicide ). Jainism is a religion found worldwide, with the greatest following in India, that practices Sallekhana: fasting until death. Among the well known suicide risk factors however, religion is not included. An individual partaking in this voluntary practice is deeply respected in Jain communities but highly misunderstood by outsiders. Fasting to death as a religious ritual and other methods of suicide are viewed differently amongst communities based on the function it serves for them. Supporters of Sallekhana argue that physical death is the only shared characteristic between suicide and this ritual (Shah 52). Included in the definition of suicide is any act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only are there several different explanations of afterlife or lack thereof, some deaths have unclear causes. One can argue that social pressures such as academic pressures to succeed and the pressure to conform to societal norms are a prominent factor that leads an individual to committing suicide. On the same note, religion is a social pressure that can be seen as a factor leading Jains to take the Sallekhana vow. Martin demonstrates this influence when he states that what we are as humans is a result or product of the concepts and practices in our societies (Martin 27). In Clifford Geertz working definition of religion, one of the necessary components he emphasizes is religious concepts being portrayed as reality: the only way to live (Geertz 90). A religious person may acknowledge the lifestyle differences of others, but it is not seen as the proper way to live. This aspect of religion lends itself to social constructionism, and explains the conflict that arises with definitions of suicide and classifying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Application for Chemical Engineering at Princetone University My life is all about problem solving: managing to live a difficult life in America after turning thirteen, finding out of the box to achieve my goals in debate, art, and HOSA, helping other teenagers with problems they struggle with... Everything around us from a bar of soup to a bucket of paint involves chemical engineering. At Princeton University, I can further explore the world of chemical engineering through Freshmen seminars, once again working with my peers. • 6. Personal Reflection For Personal Assignment The purpose behind this assignment from my own understanding is for a couple of reasons. One of them is to help improve and practice report writings/responses, while another reason is to express what we believe our strengths and weaknesses will be in this chosen career path. This assignment is beneficial because it will prepare us for future writing assignments in the program, and better understand how we will be graded. It will also help us reflect on what skills we think we can bring to the table, along with weaknesses we can improve on. It will be a useful assignment to reflect on my own personal strengths, and will be a beneficial tool to my success in this program. This career choice (specifically EMS dispatching) is something I m hoping I could be exceptional at because of my experience working as an EMT. I attended PMA in 2014 where I learned a variety of useful skills from great instructors that could easily crossover to dispatching. I then mastered these skills out on the field, working hand in hand with Emergency Services! I like to think with this experience I can bring quick decision making skills to the table; as well as limited medical knowledge for certain situations when necessary. I have experience in triaging, and can handle stressful situations exceptionally well while staying emotionally detached. In fact, nothing was more thrilling to me then heading to a call full lights and sirens! There s no better feeling than conquering those tough decisions, and knowing you ve done all you can to help someone. I also bring excellent communication skills to the table due to my large personality and theatre experience in high school. When I say large personality, I don t mean it in an obnoxious way. It s more so in a personable way, where I love talking to people and am outgoing. It s helpful to have when your trying to keep someone on the phone during a tough call, or when you need to keep a person calm in a stressful situation. It s important to be able to talk to people without being shy or nervous, and having them feel like they can trust and rely on you. This is also an important skill to have when you work alongside other coworkers, you need to be able to speak up and get along with your peers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Outline Of The Workup Of Cervical Lymphadenopathy Discuss the workup of cervical lymphadenopathy. How would your recommendations differ for adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients? Cervical lymphadenopathy is the enlargement or swelling of the cervical lymph nodes. Cervical lymph nodes are the lymph nodes located at the anterior and posterior aspect of the neck and under the jaw. A thorough knowledge of the anatomy of the neck is essential to formulate a differential diagnosis. Cervical lymphadenopathy is not uncommon, especially in children and therefore differential diagnoses are broad (Lang, Kansy, 2014). The causes of cervical lymphadenopathy can be infections, autoimmune disorders, or malignancy. What test would you do first and why? First and foremost, thing to do when a patient comes with cervical lymphadenopathy is to get a detailed history. The history should include questions such as the onset of lump; pain on lump; if the lump is unilateral or bilateral and other lumps present anywhere else in the body; any associated symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, hemoptysis, night sweats, weight loss, or poor appetite; and any recent foreign travel, upper respiratory infection or TB exposure. It may be necessary to obtain a detailed sexual, smoking and drug abuse history. Next step is the physical examination by palpating the nodes to assess the size, shape, matting and consistency (Mohseni et al., 2014). • 20. Minds, Brains, and Science by John R. Searle Functionalism remains, to this day, one of the most influential theories of the mind. While many facets of functionalism has been tested throughout the century, one of the more interesting questions came in the form of computers. Similarly to a human brain, could computers also think? This idea was explored by John R. Searle, in his book titled, Minds, Brains, and Science. The author is a renowned American philosopher, particularly in the philosophy of language and mind, and is currently teaching at the University of California, in Berkeley ( John R. Searle, 2014). Searle earned his Ph.D. in philosophy at Oxford, and has made several contributions to his field on topics, such as consciousness, artificial intelligence, and the problem of free will ( John R. Searle, 2014). His Chinese Room experiment is known as one of the main critiques to the concept of artificial intelligence. In Searle s book, Searle describes his thought process into this experiment during the second chapter, titled Can Computers Think? Searle s purpose of this chapter in the book is to explain his perspective on the idea that digital computers will never develop the capability to form thought processes, and that a concept such as artificial intelligence could never exist, because our mental states exist in a biological manner. He utilizes his Chinese Room argument to aid in the development of his objectives. Before Searle goes into any detail about the purpose of this passage, he introduces the ... Specific heat capacity is the amount of heat energy required in joules to raise 1kg of a substance by 1 degree Celsius, different substances absorb heat energy at different rates not all substances require the same amount of heat energy to increase the internal temperature of a substance this depends on the mass and the material it s self. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for this is that copper s molecules are more densely packed and so it is a good conductor of heat, and when 1 kg of each substance are compared visually it is easily seen that 1kg of copper mass is far smaller than 1kg of aluminium mass. Aluminium is more efficient at radiating or dispersing heat as it is less dense which also makes it a lighter material. Overall this experiment has successfully reached its objectives however some errors have occurred as shown in the experimental errors where the experimental values do not match the actual values of the materials this could be caused by heat loss through the material which could be reduced with better insulation of the material. Further error could have been avoided in the first experiment by letting the heating element reach its maximum output before inserting it into the aluminium block as the warm up time is not taken into consideration in the first experiment; this was not a factor in the second experiment as the heating element was immediately placed into the copper block and was at its maximum ... • 22. The Literary Style Of Cavendish s The Blazing World In the epilogue of The Blazing World, Cavendish puts forth that anyone who does not wish to be a subject of her world can instead create their own (Cavendish 163), but how does one do this? In the story, the Empress asserts that in order to create a world one must frame it, strengthen it, and beautify it (126). The literary world that she creates in The Blazing World itself follows this system as her use of structured lists, her descriptions of the strength of her society and her use of poetic techniques in prose each support these ideas. This principal of world creation can be seen not only throughout The Blazing World, but through her poetry as well. In her poem Of Many Worlds in This World, Cavendish is able to convey these three rules of world building through both form and content while creating a whole system of worlds for the reader to imagine. The passage of The Blazing World that this essay will focus on is a passage in which the Duchess convinces the Empress to make a world in her mind which the Empress decides not to dissolve. The passage ends with the Empress desiring to see the Duchess s world and it s government and society. This passage not only creates a world within the text, a world filled with creatures, laws, arts and sciences (126), but adds to the greater world of the story that Cavendish creates. In this passage one can see a bit of how Cavendish creates her world through both the content of the passage and form. This passage exhibits the framing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. The Doctrine Of Salvation And Salvation DOCTRINE OF SALVATION INTRODUCTION This week we have studied soteriology or the doctrine of salvation. Salvation must be grounded in the work of Christ and is how God saves what was lost to sin and death and restores life. Salvation is called many things, i.e. redemption, resurrection, victory, peace, rebirth, or ransom. However, the New Testament contains two primary descriptions of salvation, the arrival of God s kingdom and justification of the ungodly by faith in Christ. (Lecture 2). This paper will examine these two descriptions. THE KINGDOM OF GOD Jesus began his ministry in Galilee by proclaiming that the kingdom of God and telling people that the time had come to repent because the kingdom was at hand. (Matthew 4:17, 23). (Lecture 2). In Old Testament days, there was great emphasis on obeying the letter of the law. Jesus taught the spirit of the law. In Paul s theology, salvation comes through God saving one from one s sin and thereby saving one from the demands of the law. Being justified by faith in Christ rather than by one s fulfillment of the law means being open to loving others for who they are, humans made in God s image. (Lecture 2). The Westminster Shorter Catechism defines justification this way, Justification is an act of God s free grace, wherein he pardoneth all our sin, and accepteth us as righteous in his sight, only for the righteousness of Christ imputed to us, and received by faith alone. (Bird, 2013, p. 562). Justification by faith liberates us from having to do it myself. Christ died for us and so long as we believe that fact we have salvation. We are no longer compelled to define ourselves as good or just or true, and we are free to love our neighbor for his sake. Luther speaks to the question of works by stating, more than once, So, also, our works should be done, not that we may be justified by them, since, being justified beforehand by faith, we ought to do all things freely and joyfully for the sake of others. Instead, other companies were threatening to fire anyone who took an unscheduled break in an effort to enforce discipline. Mr. Windham needed a plan to get in front of these external pressures to ensure his company s reputation. The tactics of the other plants were already in the local media channels and would soon be national. Fortunately Mr. Windham is in a good position to capitalize on his scheduling mistake because he can turn it into positive press for the company. Mr. Windham needs to issue a formal apology for the scheduling mistake he made and take full responsibility. Then he should promise fair break scheduling based on all faiths and religious practices. Mr. Windham can ask his employees to convene a diverse working group to come up with a new break policy to go into effect after Ramadan. As long as it does not violate any state and federal laws, company policies, and it passes a legal review, he should promise to sign it. Mr. Windham should issue a formal statement to the press. • 35. My Grab Bag Speech I have never taken a public speaking course before getting into college, finding myself too stressed to calm down in the class of CC 100 11. I experienced the most anxious moment before I did my Grab Bag speech. Though I was so nervous, I finally finished it with all my efforts. In general, I feel that my Grab Bag speech is good enough for me as the first challenge, despite of the lack of experience in preparation, missing parts of the outline and the overwhelming anxiety. Therefore, I also give myself some advice and set an aim to achieve. Before the delivering of the speech, preparation is crucial given that it gives the speaker a clear clue of what his should talk about, how he can organize his speech and how he can perform well in front of specific groups of audiences. Once my topic is decided, according to Joshua, I should further narrow my topic and find the most three points, which are the magic numbers (136) , by going through the general speech purpose. In this case, my purpose is to inform or teach about myself, thus I chose anime , horror movie , and spicy food . I started preparing through this point, yet I failed to consider more about my organization . In my original speech outline, I simply put these all three things together without considering any order. As it says that you want to do so in a way that is manageable to you as a speaker and memorable to a listening audience (Joshua, 135) , speaker should better to create an organized speech for audience. Considering that I want to emphasize who I am, I should use topical order which tells different characteristics. By correcting my original speech outline, the spicy food which tells about my identity should go first, then horror movie goes next, and at last my favorite anime on which I should strongly emphasize should end the speech. Additionally, I find out that I should change my use in language for the opening and summary. It s obvious that often the thesis statement overlaps significantly with the purpose of a speech, but not always (Joshua, 87). I started my speech thesis by saying So today I am going to show you three artifacts which are all my favorites and can determine who I am. They are anime, horror movie and spicy ... • 36. Product Liability Essay Product Liability This week s question concerns liability and moral responsibility in consumer products. As the question is multi part, the answer will be likewise. To begin, the first question addresses who should be liable for the voluntary actions of others. Specifically, if substantial information concerning the hazards of a product or service has been offered to the consumer, who is to blame if someone is injured? Similar to most questions derived from this course, the answer is it depends. From a legal standpoint, the contract or arrangement must first be analyzed. If, for example, the activity is a high risk activity such as sky diving or feeding sharks on a scuba dive, then the legal concept of duty of care obviously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an ethical light, this arrangement of reasonable liability division is in keeping with our understanding of moral rights in the economic sense. According to the negative right of freedom of consent, all parties should be free to make any arrangement to which both parties agree. It is a moral imperative in this free consenting agreement or contract that both parties fully disclose all pertinent aspects of the arrangement, in this case, the disclosing of the inherent risks involved with jumping out of an airplane (Velasquez, 330). Once both parties are satisfied with the conditions of the agreement, they are free to commit to the agreement via contract. The buyer has freely accepted the risk of the product, and the seller has fulfilled his obligation to provide enough information for the buyer to make an educated decision. The liability transfers from the seller to the buyer once both parties have freely and knowledgeably entered the contractual agreement. In this arrangement, the rights of all parties have been preserved. Additionally, this arrangement fulfills the deontological requirements of an ethical contract. The seller has a moral duty to provide the safest product possible in relation to the nature of that product. Many (e.g,Gultai, 1990: McChesney, 1990) argue that changes in federal social policies have played a significant role in the rise in homelessness and particularly in the increase in the number of homeless families (Family Relations. 1995,44.13 18.) Homelessness is defined as a condition where people cannot live or afford regular, safe and secure homes, warm meals or to be fully clothed. It s also defined differently in many countries or regions. It also includes that some homeless people shelter is a cardboard box, shelters that may or may not have room, the sides of the interstate as well as living in a junk yard car. My purpose is to study the reasons why the homeless rates are going up and the loss of assistance for homeless person or families. Its many reasons on why we see someone loved ones living on the streets or living in different shelters day by day. Some that are homeless due to their actions some are homeless because of something they could not control. Living on the streets or shelters are unsafe and very unsanitary, when a homeless person lives outside, they are living under bridges, old worn down houses, even junk yard cars to find some warmth for the night. Then the next day they are looking for another area to sleep. Then they hunt for spare change and food. One of the top reasons for why someone is homeless is because of the recession we are living in today. A Historical Framework For The Contemporary Racial Of Mexico With the recent discovery of 1.38 million Afro Mexicans based on a population survey conducted in 2015, two central questions have emerged surrounding the presence of Mexicans with African ancestry in Mexico (Quartz). I will explain how this stagnant representation of Mexican blackness isolates the Costa Chica of Guerrero from other spaces in Mexico. I will conclude by addressing why this topic is significant to my scholarship as a student and what I hope further scholarly investigation will uncover. Before I unpack social racism in Mexico, it is important to distinguish two key points for reading this paper. First, I use the terms African or Africanness and black or blackness interchangeably to represent specifically Afro Mexicans in the Costa Chica of Guerrero who identify racially as black. Secondly, white is used to distinguish White Mexicans while mestizo[s] signifies racially mixed Mexicans with predominantly Spanish European and Indigenous Amerindian ancestry (Jerry). Mexico s Social Racism In order to understand how 1.38 million Afro Mexicans have remained hidden, I must first recount their origins in Mexico dating back to the Spanish colonial era. During the 16th and 17th century, 100,000 250,000 African slaves were forcibly transported to New Spain to work on the sugarcane plantations (Githiora).
