How Does Mary Oliver Use Imagery In Crossing The Swamp
In Crossing the Swamp , Mary Oliver uses the Swamp as a metaphor for life s struggles when she
states Here is swamp, here is struggle and continues to expound on this metaphor throughout the
poem. She relates the physical characteristics of the swamp to going through a struggle and her use of
literary devices helps to drive this metaphor. Through her use of tone and imagery, Oliver is able to
show the transition of the relationship between the speaker and the swamp(struggles) from one of
hopelessness to one of hopefulness. At the beginning of the poem, the tone is very hopeless. The
swamp seems endless to the speaker, suggesting that they think the struggles they are facing will never
be overcome. Similarly, the swamp is thick and

Proinflammatory Muscle Synthesis
TNF α is secreted primarily from the myeloid cells and is a potent proinflammatory cytokine. This
cytokine results mainly in the release of the inflammatory cytokines, IL 1β, and IL 6 (Chen and
Goeddel 2002), and was the first WAT derived inflammatory cytokine involved in the initiation and
progression of insulin resistance (Hotamisligil, Shargill et al. 1993, Tilg and Moschen 2008). Though
it was originally believed that TNF α was secreted by adipose tissue, a majority of it is secreted by
adipose tissue resident macrophages (Weisberg, McCann et al. 2003). In mice, it was proven that those
lacking TNF α or its receptors, which are positively correlated markers, were protected against insulin
resistance (Kern, Saghizadeh et al. 1995, Uysal, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2000, Vozarova, Weyer et al. 2001). Subcutaneous adipose tissue releases less IL 6 when compared to
visceral adipose tissue. IL 6 has been associated with being marker for visceral adiposity (Fried,
Bunkin et al. 1998). Two different studies have given two different results to the role that IL 6 plays in
obesity and diabetes. The first study stated that higher IL 6 levels are present in those patients with
insulin resistance that is related to obesity (Bastard, Jardel et al. 2000, Vozarova, Weyer et al. 2001).
However, the second study states that IL 6 levels do indeed correlate with fat mass and adiposity,
while not confirming that they correlate with insulin action or responsiveness (Kern, Ranganathan et
al. 2001). IL 6 has an anti inflammatory effect during exercise and it can increase the skeletal muscles
level of glucose, which in turn leads to myogenesis, hypertrophy of muscles, and AMPK mediated
fatty acid oxidation (Starkie, Ostrowski et al.

Fracking Industry Analysis
Over one and a half million people have watched the video where the family holds a match under their
faucet claiming that the water was polluted with methane due to the local fracking operation yet not all
1.8 million people have investigated fracking and if it is a benefit or danger. But some industry
professionals have and provided their insight into the fracking process. Professionals such as Fred
Dews of the Brookings Institute who argues that there are numerous economic benefits to fracking and

The Loudest Duck By Laura A. Liswood
Throughout the book The Loudest Duck by Laura A. Liswood, we learn about what it means to be
truly diverse and how to obtain this diversity. The book gives many examples of how and why it is
important for companies to be diverse. Through this paper I will be outlining the main points the other
made and share some of the lessons I feel are important.
The first few chapters outline the main problems with diversity that business deal with. While the rest
of the book goes deeper in to the issues and ways to overcome or avoid the problems to create a truly
diverse institute. The author gives background into the Noah s Ark theory as well as the grandma
effect. She also talks about the dynamics of dominate and non dominate groups in the work place as
she relates them to the Elephant and Mouse theory.
The first theory the book looks at is the Noah s Ark theory. The author explains that organizations
often try to become diverse using the Noah s ark model which simply means they try to have one or
more employees that meets each of the minorities. That is, they hire men women and people of color
rather than just hiring the people who are most like them.
This raises more problems than it solves because people are being hired for who they are rather than
the skills that they possess. In this type of situation people who are more qualified for a job may be
pushed aside in order to hire someone who meets the company s diversity needs. Instead of following
this Noah s Ark model

The Importance of Class in American Discourse, and the...
Americans avoid broaching the subject of class in America, notes Mantsios (2006). To support his
claim, Mantsios (2006) states that most poor people in the United States identify first with their racial
heritage, ethnic heritage, or geographic location. Members of the working class do not consider
themselves part of a collective of workers, but rather as employees of a specific company. References
to a middle class are, according to Mantsios (2006), usually done by politicians to pander to the
broadest possible constituency, (p. 183). When relative wealth or poverty is addressed in the
mainstream media, it is done so without reference to the structural issues that cause income disparity.
Mantsios (2006) proceeds to outline several myths, including the overarching myth that America is a
classless society (p. 183). The second of his four main myths related to class in America is that
Despite some variations in economic status, most Americans have achieved relative affluence in what
is widely recognized as a consumer society, (p. 184). Certainly, to a villager in Zimbabwe a poor
American might seem to have relative affluence. Yet within the broader scheme of American society, it
seems insulting to claim validity to this myth. Mantsios (2006) offers some hypothetical case studies
to highlight the importance of class in American discourse, and the falsehood of the myth of universal
affluence. Bob Farrell s ambition as a child was to become President. This

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Steel
In the late 19th century, the US Navy was falling behind the rest of the world when it came to the use
of new technology, so in 1883, legislation authorized the development of modern steel warships. This
move lead to the great battleships of WWII and even the ships that fight today. The steel armor plating
of these ships provides great strength and longevity that is needed for their jobs. Steel is one of the
most popular materials in the world due to its high strength and low cost. It is used in many different
objects and scenarios, from buildings, machines, and tools to weapons, vehicles, and of course, ships.
Steel also has different types, whether it be carbon steel, alloy steel, or stainless steel. The primary
type of steel used for battleships has been nickel steel, or an iron nickel alloy. This stainless steel
provides the best properties needed for battleships to last and work to their highest potential. Steel ...

It s original primary uses were for knives, razors, and springs. Later, the production of steel become
much easier, and therefore cheaper, making a much more practical and popular material. Some
different types of steels for application include long steel, flat carbon steel, stainless steel, and COR
TEN, or self weathering, steel. Long steel is primarily used for structures and heavy wires, flat carbon
steel is used for major appliances. Stainless steel has many uses, including weapons and jewelry to
name a couple. Self weathering steel is used in vulnerable, outdoor uses. Nickel steel, more
specifically, has many applications due to its favorable features like durability, strength, and heat
resistance. Today, some industries that use this type of steel include the aerospace industry, food
processing plants, chemical processing, and oil or gas industries to name a few. Nickel steel is also
used in many mechanical situations, for gears, bolts, and

Amanda Ripley s The Unthinkable, She Covers Disasters...
When I lived in Los Angeles during high school, me and my neighbor Brandon would frequently take
the Metro train to get to school. While we waited for the train, we would occasionally hear the
automated intercom say, In case of an emergency, don t hesitate to locate the nearest emergency
phones or Metro sheriff. This recurring message was often ignored by us as well as passengers who
were occupied with other things or had earphones in. The problem with this is, if an emergency or
disaster happened at that moment, we wouldn t know how to properly engage in saving ourselves.
There were no specific instructions on what we could do in case an emergency arises. In Amanda
Ripley s The Unthinkable, she covers disasters when they happen and how ... Show more content on

Social media and technology in general can provide valuable tools to reduce those gaps (Wukich
Mergel, 2015).
Another reason the majority are not in readiness of an emergency situation is because, as Dennis
Mileti stated, Individuals underperceive risk (Ripley 43). As a person who has been studying ways to
warn people of disasters for over 30 years, Mileti believes that we tend to discount low probability,
high consequence events. When we think of a disaster, the routine thought is to assume that the
probability is so low that it could never possibly happen to us. Not this plane ride, not this drive, not
this time is what we tell ourselves, making us doubt the high risk situation. In Chapter 2 of Ripley s
book, she recounts an interview that she did with the daughter of a man who underestimated the power
of Hurricane Katrina. The 85 year old man, Patrick Turner, had survived the past two hurricanes that
hit Louisiana before Katrina did (Ripley 24). When he heard of the arrival of Hurricane Katrina, he
did not take it as serious as he should have because the warnings the government gave about this
tsunami were the same as the last two and the last two hurricanes ended up not being that bad. Before
the last hurricane, Turner spent over 10 hours on the road evacuating only to find out that it was not
severe. Because of the wrong preparation

How Gunpowder Shaped The World
Almost everybody recognizes that gunpowder had an impact in the world today, however, few people
realize just how much it has shaped the world as the public knows it. It has modernized the field of
battle, from warriors running across an open plain, wielding swords and shields, to commanders
strategically and methodically using resources. It turned walls into rubble, boulders into pebbles, and
people into dust. It changed warfare overall, and with it, the world. Although a lot of people agree that
gunpowder was, and still is, a horrible invention, it has a unique story, including how it was made,
how it was used, and the effects that it had on the world. Gunpowder was created in the 9th century in
Ancient China, according to Karen Carr, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been so many battles in history that have been decided by the use of gunpowder. For
instance, the Ottoman Turks had been trying for what seemed like forever to take over the city of
Constantinople. The city s walls made the city impenetrable, and without gunpowder to blow the wall
to bits, the city may never have fallen. These types have examples are seen all of the time in history,
from the most basic of border skirmishes, to the largest of battles. Because of its widescale use, it
changed how warfare was fought as a whole. Before the 13th century, two armies would shoot a few
arrows at each other and then charge with swords and shields. Subsequently, armies that just flat out
charged straight forward would be obliterated by cannons and other fiery weapons. After the medieval
era, and into the Renaissance era, castles were a lot less common. The point of castles were to provide
a main defense for people higher up on the social ladder. The castle had to be near impenetrable
without a large force attacking it, and it had to be easily defended. This was completely swept away
with gunpowder, because a force could just show up with a cannon, blow a couple holes in the walls,
and run right in and capture the city. Gunpowder also allowed European countries like Spain, England,
France, and Portugal to explore and claim new lands as their own. Even the most

How to Institutionalize Peace
Another major influence on the ability to institutionalize peace is the role of powerful national
individuals. Many people will follow an influential figure and do whatever they say if they believe in
what they are being told. This can be both good and bad depending on the situation. If the leader has
radical views and wants change, they will often resort to violence to get what is desired. That is the
worst case scenario because if peace is trying to be obtained, then fighting will only make the situation
worse. This is why major global powers such as the United States have overthrown important political
leaders in other countries to help restore order to the country. Larger, more powerful countries will
often make decisions to intervene if they feel it is in the best interest of the world or neighboring
countries. If such great power is put into the wrong hands, the consequences can be devastating.
McNamara is a good example of a powerful figure that had a terrific war mind, but wasn t the best
when it came to making or keeping peace. The Vietnam War was one that came with lots of
controversy because of how costly it was. The war lasted many years and resulted in the death of
many American soldiers. McNamara felt that we could win the war and continued to send troops into
battle. This was not good for any hopes of achieving peace because this did nothing but make the
Vietnamese unhappy and less likely to want to stop the war. Instead of trying to make peace

Relationship Between The Child And Parent
Introduction In the two presented books, the main theme outlined in both texts is the theme of
relationship between the child and parent. Chinua Achebe in his book, Marriage is a Private Affair
developed this theme in the marriage perception outlining the conflict which occurred between a
father and his son (Achebe 22). On the other hand, Alice Walker in her book, Everyday Use,
developed a story of family who consist of a mother and her two daughters. One of her daughters
proved to be rebellious and went against the family norms (Walker 47). This paper will outline some
of the similarities and differences in the parent child relationship in these two books. The differences
and similarities will be developed from the themes, settings and character traits of the characters of the
specific texts.
Comparison of the parent/child relationships in Everyday Use and Marriage Is a Private Affair In
comparing the relationship between parent and the child as evidenced in the texts, it clear that in both
cases the parents and the child tend to know each other perfectly. In many situations this is naturally
and as that is the first person a child interacts with. In focusing on the two texts, we find that as much
as Nene tries to convince Nnaemeka to write a letter to his father telling him about their new life, he
refuses since he knows his father better than Nene. He knows that it will shock his father and such
news should be broken through face to face conversation. The same is

Alzheimer s Disease Summary
Affinity of Cu+ for the Copper Binding Domain of the Amyloid β Peptide of Alzheimer s Disease
Summary Alzheimer s disease (AD) is part of a group of diseases called dementia and it is the most
typical type of dementia, making up about 60 80% of total dementia types. This disease is becoming
more and more prevalent as people s lifespan increases, because of the ever advancing medical field.
Additionally, the total number of Alzheimer s cases is expected to double over the next 20 years. Most
generally, it affects people over the age of 65, but can affect people as young as the age of 40 and is
the 5th leading cause of death for the elderly. Once diagnosed, a patient normally lives 1 to 10 years
and in some unusual cases, up to 20 years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the authors realize that the idea of the possible formation of Cu2+ Aβ species is
unresolved. They hope that by finding the dissociation constant of Cu2+ Aβ, that the issue becomes
partly resolved. This is because the dissociation constant plays a key role in vivo. If it is too high then
it will be impossible to form Cu2+ Aβ to form in the presence of human serum albumin (HSA). HSA
is found in cerebral spinal fluid. There is a strong Cu2+coordination mode, which would not allow for
sustained redox cycling of Cu2+. However, if there are significant concentrations of ascorbate it may
be possible. Overall, the authors conclude that monomeric Aβ binds more tightly to Cu+ than Cu2+
and that it is important to the in vivo oxidation state. Plus, they showed in an earlier study that the
slowness of the Cu+ Aβ helps to slow down the production of ROS, which would slow the
neurodegeneration seen in AD. Also, the amount of ascorbate that is present in extracellular fluid
could generate Cu+, even though in plasma extracellular copper is thought to only be in the Cu2+
oxidation state. The authors acknowledge that this is a controversial finding and that in vivo testing
would need to be done in order to verify their

Essay On Robert Smalls
Robert Smalls was an enslaved African American who, during and after the American Civil War,
gained freedom and became a ship s pilot, sea captain, and politician. (Wikipedia). People wonder
whether Wikipedia is actually a reliable source or not. Others just assume it is because there is a lot of

explaining whether it is a reliable source of information or not, and why. Also, this research helps
understand what exactly is a reliable source of information.
The Wikipedia article on Robert Smalls is not a reliable source of information. Simply because

The Importance Of College Experience In College
Entering college and embarking on a new journey, everyone desires to have an ideal experience. This
desire is driven by what they see on television and in the movies. In college , everyone wants to get
good grades and make friends, but everyone s college experience is not the same. The college
experience differs for commuters and students who dorm on campus in the way their relative
independence from their families, allocate expenses, and time spent socializing. Students who dorm
gain independence, have no traveling expenses since they live on campus, and are more socially active
in campus life. Students, who dorm on campus gains a sense of independence. While living on campus
the student who dorm is responsible for their own well being. Some freshmen from the ages (17 19) ,
transitioning from High school to college are accustomed to relying on their parents a lot. Some
freshmen rely heavily too much on their parents that they never learn how to do their laundry. (Sharon
Jones) My parents always did my laundry for me. Are you suppose to put the whites with the colors .
Living on campus, no one is there to remind you of your responsibilities like constantly being told to
clean your or take care of you while you re sick. In college, whether you re an undergraduate student
living on campus or a graduate student no one is there to take care of you. In college general
independence, means no more rules and restrictions to follow at home. At home students who dorm is
free from rules such as curfews, and regulations from family members. Students who do live on
campus have fewer restrictions as long as they abide by campus rules. Some students who live on
campus have to occasionally take out loans to cover the expenses of housing and meal plans. Unless
some students are lucky or work hard enough to get a scholarship(s) that covers housing and meal
expenses. These loans can grow over time from interest. If student loans aren t paid right after college
can result in debt that can last you a long time to pay off. Across the country, students are taking on
increasingly large amounts of debt to pay for heftier education tuitions. (Times.com) This may result

Key Ideas Of Transcendentalism
Transcendentalism beliefs are still prominent in contemporary society. Transcendentalism stresses
three key ideas: intuition, nature, and the over soul. It can be defined as a belief that the individual is
at the center of society, and no institution is as powerful as the individual. There are many individuals
who have exemplified some of these ideas in recent history, and some are currently practicing them.
The ideas of transcendentalism began showing up in the 1830 s and were founded by Ralph Waldo
Emerson. He reveals this idea to the public in his literary work Nature. The basic beliefs of
Transcendentalism include individuality, simplicity, and nature. The major key proponents of these
ideas are men and women such as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and Pope Francis. These people
express transcendentalism through their actions and values; most notably individuality and simplicity.

Molar mass is the sum of the masses of each atoms in a compound or element. For example, Carbon
Dioxide (CO2) , a gas that is a combination of carbon and oxygen, has a molar mass of approximately
44.01 g/mol. The unit that we ll be using in molar mass is g/mol and it is read as grams per mole. The

Animal Abuse In America

and nurture them back to health. However, animals around the globe are still not getting rescued and
are getting abused. In order to be fully acquainted about animal abuse, the common types of animal

suffering when they choose not to acknowledge or understand it (cognition), are not bothered or

Crass also joined the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) in order to work alongside while

recognising it as a socio political ideal rather than a means to gain further popularity. It can be

producing profit through social hierarchies. In regards to Cohen s theoretical assumptions regarding

the moral and socio political problems within society. During the emergence of the punk movement
those involved in the culture were perceived by the media as being dangerous and violent thugs who

Plebeian Families
In the early years of Rome, the less wealthy plebeian majority typically worked as farmers on a
patrician estate through a clientage, a social relationship in which wealthy landholders offer protection
and financial aid to lesser citizens in return for political and labor support. The plebeian families had a
small plot of land within the estate that was used simultaneously to provide for the families and to
provide for the landowner.
If not bound by a clientage, plebeians would live within the walls of a city and earn a living by selling
food that they had grown themselves on a small plot of land or run a shop that provided common
amenities to Roman citizens

Soon, Rome became an organized sprawl of paved roads that connected cities and farms. Despite this
it was still cheaper and more efficient to transport goods by sea rather than by river or land. Sea travel
could also be the riskiest, subject to the whims of weather and theft from piracy. It was restricted by
the seasons as the period between November and March was regarded as being too unpredictable for
safe passage.
During the era of Roman Trade a state control had to be sanctioned over trade in order to guarantee
supply. This was called the annona system and it was very strict, enforcing taxation on all vessels that
entered Roman ports, no exceptions. The state taxed the movement of goods between provinces and
also controlled many local markets, even the establishment of a market by a landowner had to be
approved by a member of the Senate.
The Roman military, with its members in the hundred thousands, was the most prominent reason to
maintain trade with other regions. The promise of land to well serving soldiers also facilitated
expanding conquest. In fact, close to seventy percent of all government spending was towards the

With the matter of efficiency and proficiency, all organisations need their employees to be working at
an acceptable rate, otherwise, the company won t get their money s worth out of the member of staff

Tesco or Sainsbury s can have an effect on company matters is by presenting ideas to their superiors,
by which they might agree, give a positive response and tell their own superior; sometimes forgetting
to mention it was someone else s idea depending on how good the idea actually is and how much they

Impact On Technology And Technology
The development of technology is upon the many fields of knowledge, including historical, language
learning, mathematical, etc. Every single moment of our day is affected due to the inventions of years
ago, from turning on a light switch to cooking breakfast. An invention that still affects us today and
will continue to do so is a computer. Although the computer continues to modernize as time goes by, it
has positively impacted the way a student s technology literacy knowledge and skills are developed
for professional success. Writing tools, such as pen and paper, has modernized to meet our essential
needs in a classroom environment. Technology continues to advance so much that we could not live a
day without it like a writer cannot live without writing. Although personal computers were not initially
meant for word processing either, through that has become one of their primary functions (Baron 646).
When computers were first introduced in a classroom environment, teachers feared students would
forget how to properly spell, but now teachers complain if students do not double check their spelling
when turning in their papers. A student s literacy knowledge and skills development are not only
advancing in spelling, but their vocabulary is expanding as well. Success in literacy is measured by
what a student can do with it, not what they know about texts and print. Having a computer in hand

Literary Analysis over One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest Essay
LITERARY ANALYSIS One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is a novel written by Ken Kesey during a
time in our society when pressures of our modern world seemed at their greatest. Many people were,
at this time, deemed by society s standards to be insane and institutionalized. One Flew Over the
Cuckoo s Nest is set in a ward of a mental institution. The major conflict in the novel is that of power.
Power is a recurring and overwhelming theme throughout the novel. Kesey shows the power of
women who are associated with the patients, the power Nurse Ratched has, and also the power
McMurphy fights to win. By default, he also shows how little power the patients have. When

Laughter makes the patients feel good, and, specifically, Bromden feels good and begins to remember
other things that made him feel good (Tanner 4). McMurphy s power in laughter is intensified by
Nurse Ratched s lack of laughter. McMurphy s laughter and humor are genuine while Nurse Ratched s
humor is forced and smiles are chiseled like in plastic (Wallace 3, 5). Power enables McMurphy to
make changes on the ward and to survive in the institution. His sanity compared to the other patients,
his manipulations, and his ability to laugh give him the power. He, in turn, gives patients a sense of
power by teaching them to laugh at themselves, Nurse Ratched, and the world (Magill 1533). Second
in a discussion of power are the women associated with the patients. The supervisor at the hospital is
associated with the patients by controlling who is employed to take care of the patients. Nurse Ratched
and the supervisor served in the Army together as nurses. They are still very close and have a good
relationship. Because of this relationship, Nurse Ratched s employment is secured and others won t
stand up to her for fear of losing their own jobs. Harding states In this hospital, the doctor doesn t hold
the power of hiring and firing. That power goes to the supervisor and the supervisor is a woman, a
dear old friend of Miss Ratched s (61). The receptionist on the ward is Nurse Ratched s neighbor

Health Information Technology Impact On The Quality Of...
Health Information Technology Impact on the Quality of Care The health care industry is driven
forward by the advancements in technology. Advancements in technology has improved the way
health care treatments are delivered to patients. Patient outcomes are affected in the way that the care
is being delivered. Technology has found ways to not only improve the way it is being delivered but
has also made it more efficient in how it is being done so. Therefore, healthcare quality has improved
with the advancements in technology. Health Information then and now Health information
technology has improved dramatically since early doctor visits conducted by Greek medical
practitioners. During that time frame there was no internet to rely on transfer of information, no
telephone lines to communicate with other health care personnel to bounce ideas off of and there was
no social media platforms, such as YouTube, in which medical information can be reviewed. The
ability to access information has dramatically changed from then to now. Back then, medical
professionals had to rely more on skills and use what they can to arrive to a positive outcome.
Information technology today has been able to make positive strides in the way paper based supports
have been slowly phasing out in favor of a computer based system. Computer based systems with
various amounts of patient information has led to an increase in efficiency while maintaining costs

freedom to explore literature and the arts. However, from the 1670s through 1865 was the Tokugawa
period, also known as the Edo period, where Japan was guided to internal peace and economic growth
(The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). Not only had Japan found stability in the Edo period,
creativity flourished from the lower class of artisans and merchants through the exploration of ukiyo e
printmaking. The term, ukiyo e, is a combination of uki (floating), yo (world), and e (pictures) that

of mail order medicines in the United States. They were both in the pharmaceutical industry. Merck
planned to acquire Medco for $6.6 billion on July 28, 1993. I believe that their merger will be
beneficial to each other because the major force driving the acquisition of Medco by Merck was

Merck will also use Medco computerized patient record system to show that the premium paid for

Examples Of Feminism In Jane Eyre
Feminism in Jane Eyre s struggling For Self Realization
When Jane was young she lost her parents, and thanks to her uncle Jane could live a fine life, but
unfortunately her uncle died after a few years. Mrs. Sarah Reed, her aunt, regarded Jane as a curse and
her three children neglected and abused Jane. They despised Jane s simple looks and quiet yet
passionate character. The only relatives of Jane Eyre never showed any sympathy or care to this
distressing little girl, instead they consistently criticized and bullied her. Unsympathetic and
disparaging, Mrs. Reed always treated Jane Eyre as an impediment inferior to a maid. Finally one day,
little Jane had a quarrel with her cousin and was beaten. Jane became ill as she was locked in a room
for an entire night and at that time, her early feminism was generated.
Jane refuses to be treated as an inferior on the face of Mrs. Reed, and eventually speaks out against the
prejudices to her with sharp and forbidding exposure. According to the tradition that the Victorian
women were restricted to follow, Jane s behavior was the total opposite for the role of women. In fact,
many people of that period suggested that Jane should be greatly thankful to her aunt instead of being

My Mother Has A Unique Sense Of Humor
As the years go by, I gain a better understanding of my mother, and although she has shared her story
to me over those years, I still have not heard it all. She was born Adriana Manzano De La Cruz in
Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on September 8th, 1972, and despite the challenges she faced as a child, she

Sad endings, like Thelma and Louise s story, is now proving to be exceptional, because their journeys
were exhausting. There were valuable messages broadcasted throughout the acts.
However, the most important message was the importance of friendship, with the development of an
unbreakable bond, love, and trust between two friends. This is a story of two women with a keen
desire to encourage one another and beautifully inspired many others in the process.
Act One: The Weekend Trip
The desire to escape reality to have fun is the dominant intentional plan. The simple gateway plans to
stay at a Louise manager s cabin for the weekend. The major foreshadowing in the first act is when
Thelma puts a gun in her purse for protection. The first plot is when Harlan attacks Thelma, at the

instead he hits her, and proceeds to rape her. Next, Louise shows up and points the gun at him, and
Thelma walks away with Louise. Then, Harlan makes some remarks; Louise turns around and shoots

discovery of Neutrino oscillation. So He s been awarded Three times for his discovery of Neutrino
Oscillation. Looks like it s a big deal right? So they contribution that Takaaki Kajita made was
discovering that neutrinos weigh something more than nothing. So before 2015 Everyone had believed
they weighed nothing whatsoever, But until Takaaki Kajita and Arthur B. Mcdonald came along they
changed all branches of physics of and science forever. During the award ceremony, Takaaki Kajita s

Using laxatives.
Have a consistent place for your child to go to the bathroom.
Tell your child that their body makes pee and poop and that it belongs to them. Tell them their poop
wants to be in the toilet and it is their job to help the poop come out.
Put less pressure on your child to use the toilet. Try not to argue and negotiate about using the toilet.
Praise and hug your child when he or she uses the toilet. Give your child a reward, such as a sticker or
treat. Give the reward only for using the toilet.
If you are using a potty chair, keep it where your child can see it. Make sure your child can get to it
easily.
Have your child wear big kid underwear. Let your child help pick out the underwear. Explain how it
feels much better when the underwear is clean and dry.
Have your child change his or her own clothes as soon as possible after having an accident. Tell your
child that people cannot walk around with messy pants.

American Bar Association Essay Topics
The American Bar Association By James R. Silkenat The original Constitution of the American Bar
Association defined the purpose of the ABA as being for the advancement of the science of
jurisprudence, the promotion of the administration of justice and a uniformity of legislation
throughout the country.... While this Constitution still considerably shapes the focus of the ABA,
today s legal profession is very different from what it was when the ABA was first formed 137 years
ago in Saratoga Springs, New York. When 75 lawyers from 20 states and the District of Columbia met
to establish the American Bar Association on August 21, 1878, there was no national code of ethics.
Most lawyers practiced solo. There were no universal standards for law schools, since most lawyers
did not have law degrees and attending law school at that time was rare. Young lawyers learned their
craft through apprenticeships and by reading classic legal texts. Improving diversity within the
profession was almost certainly not a topic of conversation. Today, the ABA is as committed as ever to
improving the justice system and the law. It works to serve its members, the legal profession, and the
public by defending liberty and pursuing justice as the national voice of the legal profession. The ABA
achieves its mission through four goals, as evidenced on the organization s website: Goal I: Serve Our
Members. Objective: 1. Provide benefits, programs and services which promote members professional

The Revelation Of Jesus Christ
There is always someone who choose to deny the revelation of Jesus Christ. In this investigation, it
will be looked at how Jesus proved himself to the naysayers of his time. This will be accomplished by
looking at several different factors that include topics of was Jesus mentally ill when he claimed to be
God? How did Jesus prove that he was not only talking the talk but he was also walking the walk?
This was done the evidence of the actions he performed. Finally, an evaluation will be done to prove
that when an individual has a revelation of Jesus they are also seeing the image of God.
There could be several explanations to how Jesus considered himself to be God. According to the
article beyond blind faith, Another possibility is that Jesus was sincere but self deceived. We have a
name for a person today who thinks he is God. Mentally disabled. But as we look at the life of Christ,
we see no evidence of the abnormality and imbalance we find in a mentally ill person. Rather, we find
the greatest composure under pressure (Little, 1988).
There was no evidence of Christ being unstable in any way. To the contrary, he was an image of
stability and steadfastness. From one point of view, however, claims don t mean much. Talk is cheap.
Anyone can make claims. There have been others who have claimed to be God. I could claim to be
God, and you could claim to be God, but the question all of us must answer is, What credentials do we
bring to substantiate our claim? In my

  • 2. How Does Mary Oliver Use Imagery In Crossing The Swamp In Crossing the Swamp , Mary Oliver uses the Swamp as a metaphor for life s struggles when she states Here is swamp, here is struggle and continues to expound on this metaphor throughout the poem. She relates the physical characteristics of the swamp to going through a struggle and her use of literary devices helps to drive this metaphor. Through her use of tone and imagery, Oliver is able to show the transition of the relationship between the speaker and the swamp(struggles) from one of hopelessness to one of hopefulness. At the beginning of the poem, the tone is very hopeless. The swamp seems endless to the speaker, suggesting that they think the struggles they are facing will never be overcome. Similarly, the swamp is thick and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Proinflammatory Muscle Synthesis TNF α is secreted primarily from the myeloid cells and is a potent proinflammatory cytokine. This cytokine results mainly in the release of the inflammatory cytokines, IL 1β, and IL 6 (Chen and Goeddel 2002), and was the first WAT derived inflammatory cytokine involved in the initiation and progression of insulin resistance (Hotamisligil, Shargill et al. 1993, Tilg and Moschen 2008). Though it was originally believed that TNF α was secreted by adipose tissue, a majority of it is secreted by adipose tissue resident macrophages (Weisberg, McCann et al. 2003). In mice, it was proven that those lacking TNF α or its receptors, which are positively correlated markers, were protected against insulin resistance (Kern, Saghizadeh et al. 1995, Uysal, ... IL 6 has been associated with being marker for visceral adiposity (Fried, Bunkin et al. 1998). Two different studies have given two different results to the role that IL 6 plays in obesity and diabetes. The first study stated that higher IL 6 levels are present in those patients with insulin resistance that is related to obesity (Bastard, Jardel et al. 2000, Vozarova, Weyer et al. 2001). However, the second study states that IL 6 levels do indeed correlate with fat mass and adiposity, while not confirming that they correlate with insulin action or responsiveness (Kern, Ranganathan et al. 2001). IL 6 has an anti inflammatory effect during exercise and it can increase the skeletal muscles level of glucose, which in turn leads to myogenesis, hypertrophy of muscles, and AMPK mediated fatty acid oxidation (Starkie, Ostrowski et al. ... • 5. The Loudest Duck By Laura A. Liswood Throughout the book The Loudest Duck by Laura A. Liswood, we learn about what it means to be truly diverse and how to obtain this diversity. The book gives many examples of how and why it is important for companies to be diverse. Through this paper I will be outlining the main points the other made and share some of the lessons I feel are important. The first few chapters outline the main problems with diversity that business deal with. While the rest of the book goes deeper in to the issues and ways to overcome or avoid the problems to create a truly diverse institute. The author gives background into the Noah s Ark theory as well as the grandma effect. She also talks about the dynamics of dominate and non dominate groups in the work place as she relates them to the Elephant and Mouse theory. The first theory the book looks at is the Noah s Ark theory. The author explains that organizations often try to become diverse using the Noah s ark model which simply means they try to have one or more employees that meets each of the minorities. That is, they hire men women and people of color rather than just hiring the people who are most like them. This raises more problems than it solves because people are being hired for who they are rather than the skills that they possess. In this type of situation people who are more qualified for a job may be pushed aside in order to hire someone who meets the company s diversity needs. Instead of following this Noah s Ark model ... • 6. The Importance of Class in American Discourse, and the... Americans avoid broaching the subject of class in America, notes Mantsios (2006). To support his claim, Mantsios (2006) states that most poor people in the United States identify first with their racial heritage, ethnic heritage, or geographic location. Members of the working class do not consider themselves part of a collective of workers, but rather as employees of a specific company. References to a middle class are, according to Mantsios (2006), usually done by politicians to pander to the broadest possible constituency, (p. 183). When relative wealth or poverty is addressed in the mainstream media, it is done so without reference to the structural issues that cause income disparity. Mantsios (2006) proceeds to outline several myths, including the overarching myth that America is a classless society (p. 183). The second of his four main myths related to class in America is that Despite some variations in economic status, most Americans have achieved relative affluence in what is widely recognized as a consumer society, (p. 184). Certainly, to a villager in Zimbabwe a poor American might seem to have relative affluence. Yet within the broader scheme of American society, it seems insulting to claim validity to this myth. Mantsios (2006) offers some hypothetical case studies to highlight the importance of class in American discourse, and the falsehood of the myth of universal affluence. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Steel In the late 19th century, the US Navy was falling behind the rest of the world when it came to the use of new technology, so in 1883, legislation authorized the development of modern steel warships. This move lead to the great battleships of WWII and even the ships that fight today. The steel armor plating of these ships provides great strength and longevity that is needed for their jobs. Steel is one of the most popular materials in the world due to its high strength and low cost. It is used in many different objects and scenarios, from buildings, machines, and tools to weapons, vehicles, and of course, ships. This recurring message was often ignored by us as well as passengers who were occupied with other things or had earphones in. Another reason the majority are not in readiness of an emergency situation is because, as Dennis Mileti stated, Individuals underperceive risk (Ripley 43). As a person who has been studying ways to warn people of disasters for over 30 years, Mileti believes that we tend to discount low probability, high consequence events. When we think of a disaster, the routine thought is to assume that the probability is so low that it could never possibly happen to us. Not this plane ride, not this drive, not this time is what we tell ourselves, making us doubt the high risk situation. In Chapter 2 of Ripley s book, she recounts an interview that she did with the daughter of a man who underestimated the power of Hurricane Katrina. The 85 year old man, Patrick Turner, had survived the past two hurricanes that hit Louisiana before Katrina did (Ripley 24). When he heard of the arrival of Hurricane Katrina, he did not take it as serious as he should have because the warnings the government gave about this tsunami were the same as the last two and the last two hurricanes ended up not being that bad. How Gunpowder Shaped The World Almost everybody recognizes that gunpowder had an impact in the world today, however, few people realize just how much it has shaped the world as the public knows it. It has modernized the field of battle, from warriors running across an open plain, wielding swords and shields, to commanders strategically and methodically using resources. It turned walls into rubble, boulders into pebbles, and people into dust. It changed warfare overall, and with it, the world. Although a lot of people agree that gunpowder was, and still is, a horrible invention, it has a unique story, including how it was made, how it was used, and the effects that it had on the world. Gunpowder was created in the 9th century in Ancient China, according to Karen Carr, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There have been so many battles in history that have been decided by the use of gunpowder. For instance, the Ottoman Turks had been trying for what seemed like forever to take over the city of Constantinople. The city s walls made the city impenetrable, and without gunpowder to blow the wall to bits, the city may never have fallen. These types have examples are seen all of the time in history, from the most basic of border skirmishes, to the largest of battles. Because of its widescale use, it changed how warfare was fought as a whole. Before the 13th century, two armies would shoot a few arrows at each other and then charge with swords and shields. Subsequently, armies that just flat out charged straight forward would be obliterated by cannons and other fiery weapons. After the medieval era, and into the Renaissance era, castles were a lot less common. The point of castles were to provide a main defense for people higher up on the social ladder. The castle had to be near impenetrable without a large force attacking it, and it had to be easily defended. This was completely swept away with gunpowder, because a force could just show up with a cannon, blow a couple holes in the walls, and run right in and capture the city. Gunpowder also allowed European countries like Spain, England, France, and Portugal to explore and claim new lands as their own. Even the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How to Institutionalize Peace Another major influence on the ability to institutionalize peace is the role of powerful national individuals. Many people will follow an influential figure and do whatever they say if they believe in what they are being told. This can be both good and bad depending on the situation. If the leader has radical views and wants change, they will often resort to violence to get what is desired. That is the worst case scenario because if peace is trying to be obtained, then fighting will only make the situation worse. This is why major global powers such as the United States have overthrown important political leaders in other countries to help restore order to the country. Larger, more powerful countries will often make decisions to intervene if they feel it is in the best interest of the world or neighboring countries. If such great power is put into the wrong hands, the consequences can be devastating. McNamara is a good example of a powerful figure that had a terrific war mind, but wasn t the best when it came to making or keeping peace. The Vietnam War was one that came with lots of controversy because of how costly it was. The war lasted many years and resulted in the death of many American soldiers. McNamara felt that we could win the war and continued to send troops into battle. This was not good for any hopes of achieving peace because this did nothing but make the Vietnamese unhappy and less likely to want to stop the war. Instead of trying to make peace ... • 11. Relationship Between The Child And Parent Introduction In the two presented books, the main theme outlined in both texts is the theme of relationship between the child and parent. Chinua Achebe in his book, Marriage is a Private Affair developed this theme in the marriage perception outlining the conflict which occurred between a father and his son (Achebe 22). On the other hand, Alice Walker in her book, Everyday Use, developed a story of family who consist of a mother and her two daughters. One of her daughters proved to be rebellious and went against the family norms (Walker 47). This paper will outline some of the similarities and differences in the parent child relationship in these two books. The differences and similarities will be developed from the themes, settings and character traits of the characters of the specific texts. Comparison of the parent/child relationships in Everyday Use and Marriage Is a Private Affair In comparing the relationship between parent and the child as evidenced in the texts, it clear that in both cases the parents and the child tend to know each other perfectly. In many situations this is naturally and as that is the first person a child interacts with. In focusing on the two texts, we find that as much as Nene tries to convince Nnaemeka to write a letter to his father telling him about their new life, he refuses since he knows his father better than Nene. He knows that it will shock his father and such news should be broken through face to face conversation. The same is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alzheimer s Disease Summary Affinity of Cu+ for the Copper Binding Domain of the Amyloid β Peptide of Alzheimer s Disease Summary Alzheimer s disease (AD) is part of a group of diseases called dementia and it is the most typical type of dementia, making up about 60 80% of total dementia types. This disease is becoming more and more prevalent as people s lifespan increases, because of the ever advancing medical field. Additionally, the total number of Alzheimer s cases is expected to double over the next 20 years. Most generally, it affects people over the age of 65, but can affect people as young as the age of 40 and is the 5th leading cause of death for the elderly. Additionally, the authors realize that the idea of the possible formation of Cu2+ Aβ species is unresolved. They hope that by finding the dissociation constant of Cu2+ Aβ, that the issue becomes partly resolved. This is because the dissociation constant plays a key role in vivo. If it is too high then it will be impossible to form Cu2+ Aβ to form in the presence of human serum albumin (HSA). HSA is found in cerebral spinal fluid. There is a strong Cu2+coordination mode, which would not allow for sustained redox cycling of Cu2+. However, if there are significant concentrations of ascorbate it may be possible. Overall, the authors conclude that monomeric Aβ binds more tightly to Cu+ than Cu2+ and that it is important to the in vivo oxidation state. Plus, they showed in an earlier study that the slowness of the Cu+ Aβ helps to slow down the production of ROS, which would slow the neurodegeneration seen in AD. Also, the amount of ascorbate that is present in extracellular fluid could generate Cu+, even though in plasma extracellular copper is thought to only be in the Cu2+ oxidation state. The authors acknowledge that this is a controversial finding and that in vivo testing would need to be done in order to verify their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With more interest in electricity, magnetism and heat, Thomson wanted to find out how all of these things related and how they interacted with one another. After graduation from Cambridge, he worked in a Paris laboratory with the physics professor, Victor Regnault. Working with Regnault allowed him to gain experimental competence to help him further his education about science. After working in the lab, an open position arose at the University of Glasgow in 1846 and William s father made a careful and well thought out campaign to allow his son to get the position. My Mother Has A Unique Sense Of Humor As the years go by, I gain a better understanding of my mother, and although she has shared her story to me over those years, I still have not heard it all. She was born Adriana Manzano De La Cruz in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on September 8th, 1972, and despite the challenges she faced as a child, she has grown into the amazing person I call mom. She shows her humility through her dire need for saving money, not to fund our need for expensive luxuries but our constant need for food, clothing, shelter, and education. The strength she finds in God is absolutely astonishing, and it has gotten her through inconceivable hardships. Silkenat The original Constitution of the American Bar Association defined the purpose of the ABA as being for the advancement of the science of jurisprudence, the promotion of the administration of justice and a uniformity of legislation throughout the country.... While this Constitution still considerably shapes the focus of the ABA, today s legal profession is very different from what it was when the ABA was first formed 137 years ago in Saratoga Springs, New York. When 75 lawyers from 20 states and the District of Columbia met to establish the American Bar Association on August 21, 1878, there was no national code of ethics. Most lawyers practiced solo. There were no universal standards for law schools, since most lawyers did not have law degrees and attending law school at that time was rare. Young lawyers learned their craft through apprenticeships and by reading classic legal texts. Improving diversity within the profession was almost certainly not a topic of conversation. Today, the ABA is as committed as ever to improving the justice system and the law. It works to serve its members, the legal profession, and the public by defending liberty and pursuing justice as the national voice of the legal profession. The ABA achieves its mission through four goals, as evidenced on the organization s website: Goal I: Serve Our Members. Objective: 1. Provide benefits, programs and services which promote members professional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How did Jesus prove that he was not only talking the talk but he was also walking the walk? This was done the evidence of the actions he performed. Finally, an evaluation will be done to prove that when an individual has a revelation of Jesus they are also seeing the image of God. There could be several explanations to how Jesus considered himself to be God. According to the article beyond blind faith, Another possibility is that Jesus was sincere but self deceived. We have a name for a person today who thinks he is God. Mentally disabled. But as we look at the life of Christ, we see no evidence of the abnormality and imbalance we find in a mentally ill person. Rather, we find the greatest composure under pressure (Little, 1988). There was no evidence of Christ being unstable in any way. To the contrary, he was an image of stability and steadfastness. From one point of view, however, claims don t mean much. Talk is cheap. Anyone can make claims. There have been others who have claimed to be God.
