Examples Of Female Foeticide In The Forbidden Daughter
Nipped in The Bud: Female Foeticide Depicted in Shobhan Bantwal s The Forbidden Daughter
Lynsha Helen Prabha H.P. Oh, Lord, I beg of you I fall at your feet time and again In my next
incarnation, don t give me a daughter Give me hell instead. Folk song from the state of Uttar Pradesh,
India India has a rich and diversified culture filled with colourful folk lore, gracious people, a
delightful profusion of regional cuisines and breathtaking natural wonders. And yet, as shocking as it
may seem to the more advanced cultures of the world, the archaic system of dowry, female foeticide is
alive and thriving in contemporary India. Shobhan Bantwal, an Indian American novelist mainly deals

Isha tried her best to persuade them away from their ill notions about girl child and she silently bear
the torments by them. When Isha sees her child Priya spanked by Srikanth Tilak , she flees from the
mounting pressure of her in laws home. The inner strength and hardship make Isha to make a life for
herself and a good future for her daughters. Aside from the intriguing plot device that illegal gender
selective abortion provides, Bantwal uses other relevant themes surrounding the clash of old and new
values in India to make the novel a poignant one. Bantwal thus emerges as the champion of woman
rights. Bantwal s The Forbidden Daughter is one of the modern women who rebel against the social
evil of the society. She tries to break the silence of suffering and assert her individual self. A nation
can progress in a constructive manner only if the female foeticide is eliminated. Reader all over the
world should become aware of the evils of female foeticide, and contribute their mite towards
preventing such evils in the future.

Choices with Regard to the Process of Consumption
Consumer choice refers to the decisions consumers make when considering the products and services
they want to purchase. Presently, in this post industrial society, many analysts believe that social strata
in many parts of the world have led to the emergence of consumer society (Smart, B 2014). Reasons
for this are because individuals are being portrayed as having a wide range of choice as they are being
presented with a wide range of products and services.
As Ellis at al. (2012) notes, privatization of production and distribution of goods and services have
expanded the way consumers can access them, and therefore, there are increased consumer choices.
However, there are arguments that in some cases, consumers have not been provided with adequate
positions to exercise their true choices on goods and services and therefore, which is leading them to
make passive choices in regards their process of consumption. Some arguments assert that consumers
are becoming more and more actively involved in their buying and consumption processes, especially
in this age when people are more enlightened.
Arguments for Active and Passive Consumption
The Concept of Number of Options
Iyengar and Leper (2000) state, that current psychological theories confirm that individuals become
motivated when making choices individually. They refute the widely believed notion that people will

A Professional Code Of Ethics
Copyright laws are important more so today then ever before because the ability to copy and distribute
intellectual properly and pirate electronic content has increased with the advancements in technology
and globalization. As members of the student body, University of the People students must understand
the detriments of plagiarism, piracy and ensure they protect Intellectual Property and respect copyright
laws. Developing a professional code of ethics as a computer professional, will help navigate our
careers and help us make proper ethical decisions and choices.
Intellectual Property
The University of the People s Intellectual Property policy requires we respect individual property
rights and abide by US copyright laws (University of the People Catalog, 2015, p. 83). The University
of the People does not tolerate plagiarism. Plagiarism violates Individual Property rights by failing to
credit the author s work. According to WIPO, Intellectual Property refers to creations of the mind,
creative work such as books, music, movies, photos, web content, and software (WIPO, n.d.).
Everyone has created Intellectual Property at some point in his or her life and no one wants it stolen.
Innovation flourishes when ideas can flow, but stealing from the author will only lead to stifled
creativity and resentment. When we build upon the work of others and our own ideation takes root, we
must give credit to its origin. Increased awareness of Intellectual Property rights will

Fate In Mordred
The idea that fate is inevitable manifests itself throughout the arthurian legend I am mordred. The
question of changing fate prevails as an underlying theme in the book. Characters lives and choices
revolve around the idea of their predetermined destiny. It proves difficult to decide whether fate is
escapable or not.
From the beginning of the book Mordred s fate plays a key factor in characters actions. The king s
advisor Merlin prophesied Mordred to kill his father, King Arthur, when he is the age of seventeen.
When the prologue starts King Arthur is sacrificing all the male babies in the kingdom who were born
on May Day including Mordred. This will supposedly change the fate they are both destined to

point on Mordred kept his human form, but no longer felt anything. He didn t struggle with trying not
to escape his fate or feeling sad about all the people he hurt or will eventually hurt. He felt nothing. By
the time Mordred was twenty seven he had the opportunity to try to take the crown which led to a

The Dow Jones Industrial Average
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) is indeed the most publicized and extensively known stock
market on the globe. Being a major contributor of the N Y S E (New York Stock Exchange) trading
stocks (Ullivan, Steven, 2003), the index shares the United States economy by a notably significant
margin. Also, the index has been operational for long since its inception in the nineteenth century,
making it the first to be quoted by other publications. Its reputation has mushroomed all over because
of its understandability and reliability in the market. This paper explains the DJIA index as well as its
history in the simplest terms. Also, the paper critically evaluates the index taking into consideration
that it is a price weighted index, unlike other substantial value, weighted measures like the S P 500
index.
The average has a rich history and development since it came into effect during the nineteenth century.
It was first unveiled in 1896 by Charles H. Dow with a major goal of disseminating valuable
information and opinions about the stock market and also contributing to the nourishment of United
States economy. The average named after Dow and his business colleague, Edward Jones. This index
mainly shows the trading patterns and performance among the 30 big corporations in the United
States. It also shows their trend in the stock market. Most investors at the beginning used to trade on
bonds mainly, followed by other few real assets such as machinery and factory (Barr,

As I Write To You Today, I Truly Hope Life Has Worked Out
As I write to you today, I truly hope life has worked out the way I had it planned. Or at the very least, I
hope you are living a happy life. Hopefully, you have graduated from Loras College, and you went on
to get a graduate degree. I also would expect you have found a job you love combating climate
change. Or even better, you have found a solution to save our environment, and your kids won t have
to worry about the mess your generation created. However, even as a first year college student, I
realize fixing climate change in 21 years is a lofty goal. Anyways, by this time, I imagine you have

Without your parent s success, you very well might not be where you are today.
Not only did your parent financial status allow for opportunity, but their way of parenting was an
instrumental socialization agent too. Although your family was economically stable, not everything
was given to you. Your parents made you work and held you accountable. Whenever you were out of
line, your dad was never having it, as you probably can recall. Even though both your sisters and you
knew he loved you guys very much, you all knew to behave especially when Dad was around. In
addition, from the beginning, both your parents taught you strong Midwest values. Although you didn
t always stick to them, manners, honesty, hard work, and being on time were pounded into your head
since you could talk.
Midwest values were not the only values your parents taught you. Although they might not be
considered values, both parents were very liberal thinkers. Typically, they mostly voted for democratic
candidates. While they parented you to think independently, their liberal views definitely rubbed off
on you and your sisters. In addition to their political stance, both parents had a conflict perspective on
society. Particularly, your mother was very active in changing the Elkader community. First, she
served on the school board for ten years, and she was key in reforming the school to a more equal
education program. On a bigger scale, your mother ran for county

Jules Feiffer s Little Murders
Little Murders written by Jules Feiffer in 1969 is unlike any other play of its time. Originally written
as a comedy and produced on Broadway it has since then been reproduced many times with all sorts
of twists. Little Murders is set in New York City in the middle of a crime spree in the 1960 s. The two
main characters both are apart of a dysfunctional couple. Patsy Newquist and Alfred Chamberlin have
somewhat reversed gender roles. Patsy, like her family, is eccentric. At this time in New York City
people are being mugged and killed everyday, they fear for their lives. Several times throughout the
play the Newquist family hears gunshots just outside their apartment. Patsy, my character, is a classic
feminist. Patsy is independent, strong,

Hippocampus Synthesis Essay
The hippocampus is a component of the brain that is used for memory. Neuroscientist now know this
because of a patient who received surgery on his hippocampus and it caused his memory to be altered.
The study of the patient led to many new discoveries of human memory and how it is specifically
related to the hippocampus.
The patient known as H.M. had surgery on his brain. He received surgery because of a crack on his
skull he got as a little boy was causing seizures. The crack is what caused him to have seizures,
blacking out and lose control of bodily functions (Kean, 2014). The seizures caused him to dropout of
high school making him feel desperate is what caused him to get surgery. The surgery was performed

His explicit long term memory was mainly affected. Meaning that his mind without a hippocampus
was only able to make initial impressions hindering him from keeping the memories for long period of
time and the memories would simply just disappear (Kean, 2014). This is why he was unable to
remember specific facts, events and what made him Unable to form new memories (Kean, 2014). The
surgery also affected H.M. s short term memory. He was able to Remember a random numbers for 15
minutes , with the use of rehearsal this task would lengthen his short term memory but he would forget
that the task had even taken place 5 minutes later (Kean, 2014). Since the sensory memories were
unable to reach the hippocampus this caused him not to properly store short term memories or long
term memories. This is what caused him to only retain information long enough From moment to
moment To finish a sentence (Kean, 2014). H.M. was asked to trace a third star in the narrow space
between the outline of two centric ones while only using a mirror (Kean, 2014). The first drawings he

It was another day following the routine: wake up at dawn, set off into the fields and woods just
outside the skirts of the village to gather what was needed, and come back before the sun sets. I settled
back into my bed for a night s sleep after such a long day s work. `The following day, just around sun
high, one of our tribe members came back with news about other people and their activities near the
shores in the direction that the sun sets. A few adult men I among them set off at sunrise to keep an
eye on the strange new people. They had big, floating wooden structures on the shore, half in the
water, and half on land. We stuck near cover to avoid being seen by any of them. It seemed like they
numbered in the hundreds, almost as many as my tribe. Collectively, we agreed to go back to our

their big dogs. Our tribe leader felt enraged and went up to confront the group of around ten men.
Their physical appearance was different than ours. They had pale skin, some with yellow hair, and
they seemed to be heavier. They wore hard, shiny plates on their torsos. They also spoke in a tongue
understood by no one. We spend the whole day with them trying to understand their language and
what they seemed to want from us. They got off their dogs and walked around our camp, examining
what we had. Half of their men went back in the direction they came from. Near sundown, the rest left

Angels In America Play Analysis
The play made me feel several emotions. For the most part, I sympathized with the majority of the
characters. I especially felt an emotional attachment to Prior and Harper. Both of these characters
needed to be taken care of, but they were ultimately abandoned. Harper seems confident that she will
be fine on her own, but the thought of her being alone still saddens me. I was also happy to read a play
that dealt with Mormonism. I grew up as a Mormon and I am interested when a piece of work
addresses that particular form of Christianity. Mormonism is not addressed in theatre and
entertainment very often, so I found that particular element of the play interesting. It is clear that AIDS
is an important subject in Angels in America: Millennium

Personal Theology Paper
Introduction My personal general theology is based on the scripture John 3:16, For God so loved the
world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have
everlasting life. This has always impacted the way that I have talked about God to others. I ve spoken
about God in a manner of love because He loves us enough to give His only begotten son for our
salvation. God loves us enough to make our process toward salvation easier by allowing our
requirement to merely believe in Him. God loves us enough to allow our souls not to perish, if we
believe in Him. God s love is the foundation of my personal theology. In this project I will cover areas

History / Origins According to the company s website, ConocoPhillips can have its origins traced back
to 1875, with the Conoco founder Isaac E. Blake having the idea to have kerosene available to the
public in an affordable way, in the Ogden, Utah region. In the early twentieth century, the Phillips
brothers began drilling with great success. After both companies were strong individual success, they
formed a merger ConocoPhillips, with the strengths of oil and gas that merged in 2002 to form a
partnership. Being a strong competitor in the industry, the main competitors include the likes of BP,
ExxonMobil, etc. Although new competition is quite unlikely, ConocoPhillips must be quite cautious
in terms of price sensitivity and integration. The reasoning behind this is the extreme competitive
nature of the industry, and the minute differences between the top tiers of competition. The years
leading up to the formation of ConocoPhillips were marked by moments of triumph and challenges.
Several of these moments highlighted both Conoco and Phillips pioneering spirits. Phillips led the
path in innovation by becoming the first company to develop and market propane for home heating
and cooking, building the first long distance multi product pipeline and inventing a process to make
high octane gasoline possible. Conoco used its pioneering spirit to develop the first filling station in

Blues Music Is Still Based On Emotional Pain
In the beginning of its existence, blues music was a way of expressing ones feelings that they were not
allowed to speak about in mixed company. This was music that expressed from the heart and soul of
painful experiences that continued on throughout the course of living in a divided, unequal society.
Blues music is still based on emotional pain, still the most wonderful way to express tears and
heartache in a catchy sounding musical format. This is the music that touches people in a deeper
manner and helps appease the pain that one has endured. Every blues song produced is a symbol of
past experiences of the writer of the song and its performer. This allows each song to be uniquely
impactful. Many blues songs used racial inequality as a common theme because many black
Americans were suffering from this in their daily lives. The following songs were structured to help
raise support to put an end to the racial inequality that occurred. First, we talk about James Brown s
Say it Loud ( I m Black and I m Proud) . As the title suggests, this song is about black pride. Brown
was a leader in the black community, and encouraged his people to stand up for their rights. The 60 s
were a tumultuous time for race relations in America, and this song became an anthem for the black
power movement. I feel this song is a representation of blues music because James Brown uses this
song for a more than just entertainment. He uses it as an inspiration to help black Americans to rise

The Strengths and Weaknesses of Dualism
Dualism is the belief that reality consists of two different, separate substances: that of the mental and
that of the physical. In philosophy of mind, the belief that the mental and physical are deeply different
in kind: thus the mental is at least not identical with the physical. It directly opposes materialism, as
dualism dictates that the mind is unidentifiable to the body, as opposed to stating that the mind and
body exist as one. The concept of dualism is not only fundamental in philosophy, but also affects our
thoughts on science, religion and psychology: for example, if a convincing rejection of dualism can be
formulated, the materialist approach of modern science will be vindicated. If, conversely, dualism can
be convincingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aquinas agreed with the Artistotlean notion that when the soul entered the body it animated it and
gave it life; calling it anima. Moreover according to Aquinas, the soul operates independently of the
body and it cannot decay; for only things that can break into parts can decay, Thus, following Aquinas
argument, the soul is able to survive death. He also said that through the link with a particular human
body, each soul becomes individual. So, even when a body dies, the soul that departs retains the
individual identity of the body to which it was attached. Despite this earlier work, there was still no
explanation of how the soul and body worked together, if at all. This was until Descartes (1596 1650)
who provided the fundamental writings on dualism with his work Meditiations on First Philosophy.
Indeed, he is considered the father of modern philosophy and his Meditations lead to the school of
dualistic ontology known as Cartesian Interactionist Dualism, which still inspires much thought and
extension by modern philosophers today. Descartes defined the mind as all the feelings and sensations
that he could describe, but which he could not locate physically . He then furthered this by saying that
the mind is everything that is non physical. Then without doubt I exist also if he deceives me, and let
him deceive me as much as he will, he can never cause me to be nothing so long as I think I am
something... it might possibly be the case if I ceased

The Positive Impacts Of Community Development In South Africa
Community development around the world is being practised by various entities, addressing various
socio economic issues that are unique to different communities worldwide. According to
Bhattacharyya (2004), community development initiatives are dominant in democratic countries.
There are various initiatives that have led to significant shifts in the wellbeing of communities using
different development tools to develop communities around the world. South African, which is a
democratic country has one of the highest income gabs in the world. The country s income difference
is evident in many townships/rural areas around the country s underdeveloped communities. The
positive impact of community development may be seen in the fields of public health, micro macro
development, food and violence (Bhattacharyya, 2004).
Community development is multi faceted. Bhattacharyya (2004) argues that community development
is not a distinct field and that not everything that is being done by developers to improve communities
should not be regarded as community development. Bhattacharyya (2004) states that it should only be
regarded as community development if the improvement pursues solidarity and agency which can be
achieved through adhering to the principles of self help, felt needs and participation.
In previous community development research, Bhattacharyya (2004) finds that locality has been used
as a proxy for community development. He argues that it is becoming analytically irrelevant

An Inside Look at Charter Schools Essay
Charter Schools Charter schools have recently become a topic of debate among educators. Charter
schools are schools working in the public sector of education while also being privately owned.
Charter schools are privately run, but receive public funding. There has been much debate since the
sprouting of Charter schools about the demographics being represented and underrepresented. While
there is evidence to support both sides of this argument, it should be clear to anyone after doing the
research that charter schools are an overall negative aspect of the educational system.
The stakeholders in this argument comprise a variety of groups of people. The students have their

Teachers could potentially get a pay raise or a pay cut according to they type of school they work for
as well as the amount of funding that particular school receives. The parents of the students also have
something to gain or lose here. Most parents, if not all, want the best life possible for their children.
Parents play a big role in this issue, in that they are the ones who will make the final decision on
whether their child goes to a public school, a private school, or a charter school.
There are three main types of schools that students currently attend. The most prevalent school is the
public school system. Funded by the government through taxes, this school usually has higher class
sizes. The second is private schools which can have religious affiliations, and often do. However, that
is not to say that all private schools have religious affiliations. To attend one of these schools, more
often than not, the parents and students must have a higher socioeconomic status than most.
Finally, charter schools are specialized schools that are fairly new in the spectrum. There are a few
obvious stakeholders in this conversation. The first would be the students that attend the various
schools that are in question. They are the ones whose education is at stake depending on the kind of
school they attend. Other stakeholders would include the teachers at the schools as well as (for public

Essay Intrusion Detection Systems
Intrusion Detection Systems
In 1980, James Anderson s paper, Computer Security Threat Monitoring and Surveillance, bore the
notion of intrusion detection. Through government funding and serious corporate interest allowed for
intrusion detection systems(IDS) to develope into their current state. So what exactly is IDS? An IDS
is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures. The IDS
watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that originate in the
system. When a potential attack is detected the IDS logs the information and sends an alert to the
console. How the alert is detected and handled at is dependent on the type of IDS in place. Through

With NIDS the system attempts to detect threats and attacks, such as denial of service attacks, port
scans and attempts to hack into computers by monitoring the network traffic in real time through a
promiscuous connection. It does so by first filtering out all known non malicious traffic and then
analyzing the remaining incoming packets for suspicious patterns that could be threats. It is not
however limited to just analyzing incoming packets, the system also analyzes the outgoing local
traffic, in case of an attack/threat that originates inside of the local network. Snort is an example of
this.
Host based intrusion detection systems unlike network intrusion detection systems, which focus on a
computing system s external interfaces, host based systems focus on the monitoring and examination
of the computing system s internals. Host based systems are more concerned with the changes in state
of a computing system. It detects these changes by analyzing system specific logs either in real time or
periodically. When there is any change in the logs the IDS will compare the current configuration of
the security policy to the changes and react accordingly. An example of this would be tripwire.
Protocol based intrusion detection systems (PIDS) monitor the dynamic behavior and state of the
protocol. In a typical setup there is a system or agent sitting at the front end of the server. This agent or
system monitors the communication protocol between the

On the campaign trail, Governor John Bel Edwards promised to bring down Louisiana s incarceration

The narrow vote came after heated debate on the floor centered on the needs of low income students.
Though Foil initially agreed to an amendment that would direct any savings as a result of HB117 to
Go Grants (Louisiana s needs based scholarship program), the Baton Rouge Republican later asked
the House to remove the provision. In a move that seems out of character to many, Baton Rouge
Democrat Ted James encouraged his colleagues to support Foil s measure: When we create a culture
of low expectations we get what we ask for. We need to make changes to TOPS I hope you follow my
green light, the oft champion of low income families said. Opposed by Governor John Bel Edwards
(D Amite) and the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation (named for the founder of the scholarship), HB117 is
expected to meet resistance in the Senate. As Foil attempts to up the GPA requirement from a 2.50 to a

A scheduled vote on Baton Rouge Republican Steve Carter s Gas Tax bill was postponed Wednesday

Tenochtitlan
Regarding the provenance of the raw materials, in this work we focus in the limestone, being an
important construction material that was not present in the immediate surroundings of
Tenochtitlan. In fact, this was an island city, located in the middle of a volcanic basin, and the nearest
geological limestone outcrops were located far away. According to the historical sources written
during the 16th century, the Aztecs imported by way of tribute and commerce lime and limestone from
different regions. For instance, the tributary lists known as the Matrícula de
Tributos (1991, 22) and the Codex Mendoza (1992, 28r, 42r) record that lime loads were brought
periodically from Tepeacac (a province located in the modern state of Puebla) and from Atotonilco ...

On the other hand, the native informants of Friar
Bernardino de Sahagún (1979, xi:221r) speak about different kinds of limestone used to paint:
chimaltizatl and tetizatl. After Sahagún (2000, 1132), the first came from Huaxtepec (near
Cuernavaca, Morelos) and was sold in the market, while the second one was obtained in the small
rivers near Tula (in the modern state of Hidalgo). For the new enlargement of the Templo
Mayor ordered around ad 1467 by Motecuhzoma I, mentioned above, the lime would have been
provided by the people from the Cuernavaca area, in the modern state of Morelos (Durán 1984;
Nicholson 1987; López Luján et al. 2003; López Luján 2006). Understanding the provenance of the
limestone used in the plasters of Templo Mayor, and clarifying whether there were changes over time
in the outcrops exploited, could therefore help in better understanding the relationship between the
Mexicas and their neighbours in Central Mexico and verifying what the historical sources suggest.

Before I came to a virtual public school, I attended a private school and was homeschooled throughout

When my sister and I was enrolled, the level of flexibility this program offered pleased my mom s

brothers to receive this type of education. However, in the following school year, new laws were set in

Seeing how this issue affected more than just my family, I decided to take action and figure out how to

Discussion
Spark witnessed the disturbing propaganda of wartime, experiencing gloomy delicacies and powerful
language of the time inaction. Her writing shows reflection of human aptitudes and this is the reason
regarded by critics that it has ability to change things into fiction from reality. Every word in novel is
best placed, to save, or to kill.
Muriel Spark s work is appreciated as appealing to readers and described best as clever and elegant.
According to Waugh, novels of Spark are extraordinarily various, diverse in themes and all novels are

the irony of affirmations of order. The royal family was welcomed by crowd, they were applauded on

There were two intervals remained constant between at rest and after exercise, the PR interval and the

however I suspect this was likely due to measurement error error rather than an actual increase).
2. With the exception of the R R interval, which time interval shows the greatest difference between
resting and post exercise? Explain this observation.
Two intervals did show a significant shorting post exercise. Besides the RR interval, the other
recorded interval which contained a marked shortening after exercise was the TP interval. To
understand why the TP interval is shortened when the heart rate increases and lengthened when the
heart rate slows, one must first understand what the TP interval is. The TP interval, which is the the

Overview
Huntington H. G. 2009 points that recent changes in natural gas market are attributed to market forces
and organizations that operate within the industry. As industry develops into new end user markets and
producers, prices adjust according to the changes in the market.
Due to the key roles of energy influence on global economic welfare such as house cooling and
heating, and business composition determinants and cost of goods and service; its pricing is
fundamental for correct and efficient choice of appropriate energy source. (Davis L. W. and

consumption within industrial and electric power sectors in the U.S. was expected to grow from the

The ham agar plate grows the most bacterial colonies because this food has the most moisture. Germs
like living in moisture and this is why the test could not be done on a normal tiled floor but instead
had to be done with artificially covered surfaces. It also makes sense that germs would stick to a food
that was wet instead of a food that was dry. Cheese had the second most bacterial colonies, and we
could say this could be because of it being the second moistest food. Lastly, was the chip. The chip got
less bacterial colonies because it had no moisture what so ever. The difference in the lowest and the
highest on the ham varied widely from the lowest and the highest on the chip. The lowest in the ham is
12 (ham on a bricked, or tiled surface) and the highest is 25 (ham on a bricked surface) whereas the

Literary Devices In If You Forget About Me By Pablo Neruda
Love loves to love love. James Joyce. Regardless of geography, gender, sexual orientation, religion,
race, education or economic status humankind desires love, and it s through literature and art that we
find a universal connection provided by the artist or author, and oftentimes advice to help us cope with
our humanity. For instance in If You Forget About Me , poet Pablo Neruda uses literary devices such
as tone and metaphor to represent how love can be romantic, yet volatile. For example, Neruda uses a
switch in tone from the beginning where the speaker is loving and romantic describing how,
everything carries me to you (Neruda 11). The tone changes in the middle of the poem, becoming
ominous, Well, now, if little by little you stop loving me I shall stop loving you little by little. (Neruda
17 19). These quotes show how love can mean everything and nothing at the same time, the speaker
describes in the first quote how everything in his life revolves around his lover but if he/she decides to
fall out of love he will easily do the same. Neruda also uses a metaphor, leave me at the shore of the
heart where I have roots, Remember that on that day, at that hour, I shall lift my arms and my roots
will set off to seek another land. ( Neruda 28 35). I believe the shore represents home, if the speaker s
love leaves him/her stranded they will quickly move on to find someone new to fill their place.
Humans will constantly seek love and relate everything around them to

Comparing Talhouk s Speech And The Armenian Community Of
Comparing two of my favorite readings, which are Talhouk s Speech and Gregorian s The Armenian
Community Of Tabriz it s obvious that these two represent the struggles that we have to endure in
order to preserve our culture and language. This was the main topic that both of the writers were

easily relatable to our case, as Armenians, we went through a lot trying to hold onto our traditions and
protect our culture.
Preserving culture was the main case, but both of the writers had very different ways of accomplishing
it. For example, Talhouk was making it very clear by advising specifically the youth in the audience to

and Buddhism. By examining the following questions, one should have a better idea how these
religions are really defined: Who or what is God, how does life after death look like, and how do these
religions define evil?

Another religion explains God as cowardly, parting from the earth after a confrontation with angry
humans. Some African religions refer to this High God as a superior creator who abandoned the
universe and passed all divine power and responsibility onto the earthly spirits.
In Animistic cultures, life after death plays an important role as well. It accepts death as a rite of
passage into the spiritual realm. The animistic view of life and death are so delicately intertwined that

Comparing Brave New World And Man s Search For Meaning
The stories of Frankl, Mustapha Mond, and Ivan share several similarities and differences. In Viktor
E. Frankl s Man s Search for Meaning, he tells us that finding the meaning of life is finding our
happiness and we must not avoid bad situations. A short story called Brave New World by Aldous
Huxley, Mustapha Mond is one of the ten controllers of World State. In this story we learn that people
in a World State are brainwashed to accept what they are given and told to do, and by that keeps them
stable and happy. Another short story is Gooseberries by Anton Chekhov where we are introduced to a
character, Ivan, who believes people like his brother, Nikolai, repress their emotions in order to remain
happy. Frankl and Mustapha Mond both believe in happiness, disagree on whether or not there should
be distance from reality, and Frankl also disagrees with Ivan on how suffering should not be ignored.

From Frankl s book, Man s Search for Meaning, Frankl believes finding life s meaning is the key to
happiness. The second part of the book, Frankl says, According to logotherapy, this starving to find a
meaning in one s life is the primary motivational force in man (Frankl 98). This means a man who
wants and needs happiness will have the motive to find one s meaning of life. In the story called Brave
New World, Mustapha Mond believes stabilization will help control your emotions, he says, stability.
No civilization without social stability. No social stability without individual stability (Huxley 9).
Without the individual stability can not be social because one s emotions are not stable to handle
another type of emotion with someone else. Mustapha Mond believes having individual stability is

Folk song from the state of Uttar Pradesh, India India has a rich and diversified culture filled with colourful folk lore, gracious people, a delightful profusion of regional cuisines and breathtaking natural wonders. When Isha sees her child Priya spanked by Srikanth Tilak , she flees from the mounting pressure of her in laws home. The inner strength and hardship make Isha to make a life for herself and a good future for her daughters. Aside from the intriguing plot device that illegal gender selective abortion provides, Bantwal uses other relevant themes surrounding the clash of old and new values in India to make the novel a poignant one. Bantwal thus emerges as the champion of woman rights. Bantwal s The Forbidden Daughter is one of the modern women who rebel against the social evil of the society. Presently, in this post industrial society, many analysts believe that social strata in many parts of the world have led to the emergence of consumer society (Smart, B 2014). Reasons for this are because individuals are being portrayed as having a wide range of choice as they are being presented with a wide range of products and services. As Ellis at al. (2012) notes, privatization of production and distribution of goods and services have expanded the way consumers can access them, and therefore, there are increased consumer choices. However, there are arguments that in some cases, consumers have not been provided with adequate positions to exercise their true choices on goods and services and therefore, which is leading them to make passive choices in regards their process of consumption. Some arguments assert that consumers are becoming more and more actively involved in their buying and consumption processes, especially in this age when people are more enlightened. Arguments for Active and Passive Consumption The Concept of Number of Options Iyengar and Leper (2000) state, that current psychological theories confirm that individuals become motivated when making choices individually. They refute the widely believed notion that people will be willing to make wise and precise choices when flooded with many options. When people are offered with fewer ... He also said that through the link with a particular human body, each soul becomes individual. So, even when a body dies, the soul that departs retains the individual identity of the body to which it was attached. Despite this earlier work, there was still no explanation of how the soul and body worked together, if at all. An IDS is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures. The IDS watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that originate in the system. Tenochtitlan Regarding the provenance of the raw materials, in this work we focus in the limestone, being an important construction material that was not present in the immediate surroundings of Tenochtitlan. In fact, this was an island city, located in the middle of a volcanic basin, and the nearest geological limestone outcrops were located far away. According to the historical sources written during the 16th century, the Aztecs imported by way of tribute and commerce lime and limestone from different regions. For instance, the tributary lists known as the Matrícula de Tributos (1991, 22) and the Codex Mendoza (1992, 28r, 42r) record that lime loads were brought periodically from Tepeacac (a province located in the modern state of Puebla) and from Atotonilco ... On the other hand, the native informants of Friar Bernardino de Sahagún (1979, xi:221r) speak about different kinds of limestone used to paint: chimaltizatl and tetizatl. After Sahagún (2000, 1132), the first came from Huaxtepec (near Cuernavaca, Morelos) and was sold in the market, while the second one was obtained in the small rivers near Tula (in the modern state of Hidalgo). For the new enlargement of the Templo Mayor ordered around ad 1467 by Motecuhzoma I, mentioned above, the lime would have been provided by the people from the Cuernavaca area, in the modern state of Morelos (Durán 1984; Nicholson 1987; López Luján et al. 2003; López Luján 2006). Understanding the provenance of the limestone used in the plasters of Templo Mayor, and clarifying whether there were changes over time in the outcrops exploited, could therefore help in better understanding the relationship between the Mexicas and their neighbours in Central Mexico and verifying what the historical sources suggest. Regardless of geography, gender, sexual orientation, religion, race, education or economic status humankind desires love, and it s through literature and art that we find a universal connection provided by the artist or author, and oftentimes advice to help us cope with our humanity. For instance in If You Forget About Me , poet Pablo Neruda uses literary devices such as tone and metaphor to represent how love can be romantic, yet volatile. For example, Neruda uses a switch in tone from the beginning where the speaker is loving and romantic describing how, everything carries me to you (Neruda 11). The tone changes in the middle of the poem, becoming ominous, Well, now, if little by little you stop loving me I shall stop loving you little by little. (Neruda 17 19). These quotes show how love can mean everything and nothing at the same time, the speaker describes in the first quote how everything in his life revolves around his lover but if he/she decides to fall out of love he will easily do the same. Neruda also uses a metaphor, leave me at the shore of the heart where I have roots, Remember that on that day, at that hour, I shall lift my arms and my roots will set off to seek another land.
