Isolation And Happiness In Edwin Arlington Robinson s...
In Robinson s Richard Cory , the speaker does not see Cory s isolation and emptiness, which is crucial
to understanding the meaning of the poem, which is money cannot buy happiness. The poem begins
with the introduction of Richard Cory and how the townspeople view him. The speaker of the poem is
one of the people on the pavement, which implies that he is in a lower social class than Cory.
Immediately, Richard Cory s high status is evident as the speaker describes him as a gentleman and
the words crown and imperially suggests royalty. In line 9, the speaker states that Cory was rich yes,
richer than a king . However, the townspeople fails to realize that with Cory s wealth, he does not need
to work, resulting in a dull, meaningless

Case Study Texas Gulf Seawater
To the City Planners of Hidalgo County, TX, Our name is Team Ramrod. We are an efficient,
dedicated and goal oriented team comprised of three engineers, two Chemical and one Biochemical,
all having received diplomas from the Colorado School of Mines. Recently we were assigned the task
of designing a cost and energy efficient manner with which to provide the residents of your
community with clean, usable, even drinkable water. Prior to commencing the project, we have some
questions and concerns we wish to address with you so that we may better be able to serve you and
your residents in designing this project. You have expressed interest in exploring the possibilities of
using brackish water from several geothermal wells located within 10 miles of the city, as well as
exploring the idea of using Texas Gulf seawater as resources for this project. As a team, we agree
these sources of water show great potential in helping us design a solution to this problem. Currently,
we are exploring the feasibility of efficiently transporting water from these sources to Hidalgo County
and using water treatment plants to provide clean and useable water for the residents. With the
consideration of feasibility as well as practicality, we have several topics pertinent to the design of this
project that must be addressed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is extremely important because if the design is not economically feasible there really exists no
way by which that design can be made concrete. Next, we have several points relating to the water
needs of the community. These include but are not limited

The Waterfront By Terry Malloy
Terry Malloy is a dock worker for the union and in this story, this is the first main point of why he is
being controlled by the MOB. In one scene, where Terry is in the office, Terry is being treated as a
child towards Johnny and it makes him feel overwhelmed. Also, out on the docks, his bosses treats
Terry poorly because they are rude to him and it make him work very hard to earn his pay. For an
example, pigeons, on the other hand, is a symbol that represents the life that Terry wants because he
wishes he was free from the union, to be like a pigeon, and the reason is that he says, they got it made,
they eat all they want, fly around like crazy, sleep side by side, and raise gobs of squads (On the
Waterfront). Another thing about pigeons, is that they are beautiful creatures that can be seen from
power lines and in large fields too. The last part about being controlled by the MOB is because there is
a good side about it because this is when Terry is feeding the pigeons, he is happy, and he is away
from the MOB. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first thing that makes him upset is when the bosses doesn t share the income with the workers
because they keep them for themselves. Another thing is because Terry is upset that Joey is dead
because he lured Joey by telling him, I ll bring him up to your loft, but the result was a death trap (On
the Waterfront). Also, on the other hand, Father Barry is another character that Terry did not like
because Terry was a murder which made him very upset, and this is because he explains to Father
Barry about keepin silent when you know the score (On the Waterfront). The last thing is that Terry
did see a lot of deaths which the hooks might be Terry s end, but this is when he is going to do
something about his bosses actions towards the

The Search for Inhabitable exoplanets
Throughout the history of humanity, numerous scientists have been intrigued by the search for
inhabitable exoplanets. To date, such ventures are still in the developmental stages and the discovery
of life beyond earth and the solar system , regardless of how primitive it may be, may soon be
regarded as a fundamental breakthrough in astronomy (Jones Mukai, 2007). The fundamental
properties to be considered if a place is habitable are: presence of organic materials, water and energy
sources. Habitability of the planet also takes into consideration, nearness of the planet to the sun, the

2011). The closest known exoplanet orbiting star is called Epislon Eridani, which is 63 trillion miles
away it is close to 14,000 times away from Neptune, the farthest planets in our solar system (Horner
Jones, 2010). Due to the great distance, exoplanets cannot be viewed directly since the amount of light
they reflect is too faint to be detected from a far off distance (Horner Jones, 2010). Alternatively,
scientists infer the presence of an exoplanet from the changes in wavelength of light illuminating from
the star, this may be caused by the gravitational pull from an orbiting planet or the regulation of
brightness of the star due to transiting planets. When Fermi Paradox was proposed initially, most
people thought planets were rare. Nevertheless, since then the astrological tools have discovered the
existence of numerous exoplanets. However, with each new discovery of an earth like planet for
instance Epislon Eridani, it becomes less likely that there could exist a planet apart from the Earth that
can support life. Using methods such as those stated above, scientists have been able to discover
hundreds of exoplanets and the first detection was in 1995. Once they detect one, they begin
evaluating it to ascertain whether it can support life. Further, they analyze the light spectrum that
radiates from the star in order to reveal the properties of the planet. The hunt is still on for planets,
which are about the size of earth and those that are

Essay On The Dust Bowl
The Dust Bowl was a difficult time that caused people to lose their lives or to have difficult ones.
People got diseases, others lost everything they had, and kids didn t get to grow up normal. One of
these kids was Timothy Johnson. One day, he and his brothers were out when their mom called them
in, as she did a loud sound crashed through their trees. They heard the stories of many dust storms
forming but Timothy hadn t known how they would affect his life. They watched as dust clouded
around them, they couldn t even see the tree Timothy and his brothers had played by. Days later after
the first storm, Timothy went back to school and talked about it with his friends. A few days later at
school another one hit, and all the kids had the realization of what was happening. About 6 months
later kids would wear masks and many had gotten illnesses from what was now know as the Dust
Bowl. Timothy grew up a lot during the Dust Bowl, he went through many hardships and learned what
to do to help out his family. After, he wrote a documentary about it later becoming famous for the
perfect way he portrayed it. Yet the story of Tim was only one of many caused by the Dust Bowl, an
awful time that destroyed many lives.
The Dust Bowl was a dark and difficult part of life for people of the 1930 s. The Dust Bowl spread
many diseases resulting in many people losing their lives. English professor, Cary Nelson, explained

Prom Night Essay
Dream Girl at Prom Night.
Every young man and woman s dream of during high school was going to prom night. It was one of
those moments in their high school life that was very special and memorable. My senior prom was a
night to remember! It was a warm Saturday evening during the month of May. I m all dressed up
looking pretty sharp in my grey tux and black shiny shoes, my hair full of gel, smelt like a million
bucks. The day was pretty much set for me. Having my family come over to take pictures and as well
as friends before we got the show on the road.
Later on that evening, we headed to the high school and waited for all my friend s to arrive. We were
all planning to take a party bus to the prom location, it being an hour away out at some army base.

Having to sit down and talk with them for a bit was soothing. Starting to hear noises coming from
another room, it was the dance floor. Both of us looking as the other room has our attention, we get up
and start walking towards the room. Opening up the doors you see people dancing and having a great
time. As we continue to walk in further and get our dance on, I spot my dream girl dancing by herself.
A few songs go on and suddenly a slow song starts to play. My friend Nadine was by me and she saw,
giving me the look to go ahead and ask my high school crush for a dance. I felt really nervous. Getting
the guts to finally walk up to her and ask her for a dance the most satisfying thing ever. She of course
said yes and as i had my hands on her hips and we slow danced to a song. I was nervous at first, but a
few seconds into it I felt relieved. Dancing with her for a little bit till the song died was great. We
spoke some word s and had conversation afterwards then pretty much started dancing with everyone

How To Enhance Food
Many people will say that the less seasoning you use on a steak, the more enjoyable it will be. The
reality is that even a good cut of meat will need some seasoning if you want to maximize your
enjoyment and the nutritional benefit that you get from it. You should opt for simpler options if
possible but spices have been used to enhance food throughout history for a reason. The reason is that
if you use them correctly, you can enhance both nutrition and flavor. To get a truly flavorful steak,
consider seasoning it with the following spices.
Salt
Salt is the essential seasoning for savory dishes. For steak, you will want to use a salt with fine
crystals. The reason is that those crystals will dissolve more quickly and take less time to be absorbed
into the meat. Larger crystals will not dissolve unless there is a lot of water present. You can use
kosher salt or any other large crystal salt as a finishing salt to be sprinkled onto the meat after it has
been cooked. You will want these salts to stick around since their purpose is as much to enhance the
presentation as it is to enhance the flavor and texture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note that for best results, the black pepper that you use should be freshly ground. Ideally, you should
grind the pepper right onto the steak just before it goes on the grill or into the cast iron skillet. Like
many spices, black pepper loses its flavor quickly after being ground. The mild heat of black pepper
combined with its pine flavor notes is an excellent complement to the savory, umami qualities of a
properly cooked

Supply Curve Between Price And Quantity
A market is a physical place where buyers and sellers come together in one place to transact with each
other. The demand curve shows the relation between price and quantity demanded other things equal.
The supply curve shows the relation between price and quantity supplied other things equal. Where
these meet is the equilibrium. This is the output where firms should produce. A need is a necessity,
something you can t do without. A good example is food. If you don t eat, you won t survive for long.
The market is mankind s most valuable tool for meeting the needs of the people because only a market
understands the needs and wants of customers, and how these differ. They also understand the buying
behaviour of customers (why, what and how they buy) and the nature of demand in the market (how
are prices set the factors that influence the quantity of demand) A very good example for markets
meeting mankind s needs is the electronic market. They provide an easier way for start ups to enter a
national market, particularly if the business has identified a small niche segment of that market. They
tend to be highly price competitive since it is quite easy for customers to search for products from a
variety of suppliers and to compare the best prices available (just about every consumer goods market
has one or more price comparison website). They also provide things that we didn t even know we
needed for example mobile phones. Who knew 30 years ago mobile phones would have been

Personal Narrative Essay About Being In Sea Water
Noah was born on January 20, 2006. He was a few weeks early, and weighed in at only 5 lbs., 4 oz.
He showed early on what a fighter he is. He is my hero C.A.F.
I married a fish.
Now don t think I am insulting my dear spouse, implying that she looks like a slimy creature that
spends its life in the sea. I am simply trying to illustrate that C is all about being in the water at every
opportunity at her disposal.
The true irony of the situation is that while she acts like a fish, she despises seafood. It s a pity because
seafood is one of life s great pleasures.
In her high school years (what we like to call the Neolithic period) she was on her swim team, and to

I was at work that day, so I am going to describe what took place as best as I can recall from the story
she told me. She was finishing up a swim and was getting out of the pool, and the concrete area
around the pool was slicker than she expected. She took one step, and the next thing she knew she had
taken a hard sit down on her backside. C doesn t take being embarrassed well. While I like to be silly,
she is definitely the adult in the relationship (as most women would probably agree is the norm).

Noise Pollution And Restricting Use Of Loudspeakers
II. Restriction on Loudspeakers
Now a days it is very difficult to deal with the issue of Noise. In early times there was no disturbance
to students by early worshipping of various religious temples but now this has increased and I wonder
how will students like us who study in morning be able to work in this. Then came the judgment of
Supreme Court in 2005
Issue: Supreme court on Noise Pollution
All types of horns (some are extremely loud) in automobiles, factories, industries, painting of cars,
loudspeakers, amplifiers which generate loud noises and when it is played in residential area, it is
prohibited.
Use of loudspeakers in temple, gurudwaras, mosques have to be regulated soon.
There is always a certain limit to noise in decibels which should not be exceeded. So law does not
totally prohibit but has condition that it should not disturb other peaceful life. Therefore during
Diwali, Fire crackers are completely prohibited if it makes noise which is above the specified decibels.
o And it has to be regulated and prevented that unnecessarily crackers are not burnt especially during
night hours.

How Does Climate Change Affect Agriculture
Will Climate Change Affect Agriculture?
Climate change otherwise known as global warming has been an ongoing issue for decades.
Beginning in the 19th century, climate change has increasingly affected Earth and its atmosphere.
Rising levels of carbon dioxide are warming the Earth s atmosphere, causing rising sea levels, melting
snow and ice, extreme fires and droughts, and intense rainfall and floods. Climate change has and will
continue to affect food production, availability of water, and can add to many health risks in humans
and animals. In fact, in an article by Justin Gillis titled, Scientists Warn of Perilous Climate Shift
Within Decades, Not Centuries he focuses on a paper written by a former NASA climate scientist,
James E. Hansen, explaining the effects of climate change on Earth today. Although many believe
Hansen s theories in the paper are quite far fetched, the author mentions, Despite any reservations they
might have about the new paper, virtually all climate scientists agree with Dr. Hansen s group that
society is not moving fast enough to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, posing grave risks (Gillis).
Gillis validates the fact that climate change has been rapidly expanding throughout Earth and society
has not been able to reduce it fast enough. Many negative risks are being posed and will continue to
mount if the issue of climate change is not taken seriously. Although climate change negatively affects
nearly all aspects of Earth, it poses a big

Victoria Geography
The landscape of Victoria is key to surviving down there. Located in the Western Cordillera, the
mountainous area has long narrow inlets called fjords that separate this area. The Coastal Mountains,
although rugged and glaciated at times, have many different large forests along the mountain that
consist of cedar and oak trees that can work as protection from predators or animals lurking around. In
addition, the rolling landscapes/lowlands contain granite rocks that create a beautiful scenery and
make it easier to walk along when the road becomes in available to drive on.

First of all, the climate and the vegetation will work hand in hand in your survival. Victoria is a place
that has a more moderate, dryer climate in the summer and mild, average amount of precipitation. This
is important to the vegetation because it s not too cold where you can t grow anything (seeds, flowers,
herbs etc.) and it s not too hot in certain areas where your crops will burn out and leave you hungry.
Then, the landscape and the climate work together varying from the availability of water to the
population of people fleeing there. Victoria has a very beautiful scenery and the climate works with it
so that you can feel comfortable when appreciating the view. Although it is one of the major tourist
attractions, but not many people spend a lot of their time in the forests on the mountains, therefore
giving you an advantage of space and utilities. In addition the climate works so that the water that is
near you will not diminish and can access it easily by simply walking down to the fjords. Keep in
mind that soil and vegetation also work hand in hand because depending on where you decide to
camp, there will be different types of soil that can affect your planting (I.e. Leached soil). If you re
looking to plant more seeds and herbs look out for sandy loam, which is an even mixture of all the
types of soils and will be easiest to attend to by composting any fruit or nut items you have. Lastly the
climate and the soil work well together because although it can be quite dry in Victoria, there is
enough precipitation to treat the soil instead of damaging (for example having too much precipitation

What Is The Similarities Between Easter 1916 And An Irish...
The effects of war as a theme in W.B.Yeats s Easter 1916 and An Irish Airman Foresees His Death
Easter 1916 and An Irishman Foresees His Death are poems which were written by William Butler
Yeats. Easter 1916 was written to relive the Easter Rising, an event which occurred in Ireland during
Easter in the year 1916 to confirm its independence and national identity from British. An Irishman
Foresees His Death was written as a tribute to Major Robert Gregory who had died while fighting for
his country during World War I. Although both the poems focuses on war yet the perception viewed on
war is different. Therefore, both of these poems will be compared with the consequences of war as the

For the perception of war in Easter 1916 it was a patriotic and collective force especially fighting for
their nation. However, in An Irish Airman Foresees His Death, the Irishman though he was patriotic he
makes war sound as though they had to go out of compulsion or was forced to go. Moreover the
airman flew in the sky not only to fight but also to fulfill his desire. Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love (Yeats, 1918). There is deep irony in this statement because Yeats says
that those people who fight for his country and people are the courageous man whom the poet
worships and he hates those people who always try to rule and make other people to follow them. This
statement signifies Yeats hatred towards British country that conquered and ruled Ireland. Although
they had positive thoughts towards Germany they were insisted to revolt against by the British. In
Easter 1916, British colonized Ireland and harsh anti Catholic law were passed upon Irish people, that
led to increase in Irish Nationalism and it let to revolt in. So in this context, Yeats is talking about the
British for being too offensive and it makes the people wonder how many Irish people suffered and
had been killed during World War I. Around thirty five thousand Irish died in the First World War

Cuyahoga River Fires
In the United States, a concerted effort is underway to reduce water pollution and thereby improve
water quality. (Keller) A case history of river pollution is the Cuyahoga River located in Northeastern
Ohio. The river is 100 miles long flowing south to Cuyahoga Falls where it then turns north until it
empties into Lake Erie. Cleveland and Akron are two major cities located along the river. The
Cuyahoga is known as an infant glacial river, this is because it is one of the youngest river created

which a person doesn t drown but decays . Many of the residents of Cleveland accepted the pollution
as a necessary evil because they had jobs at these factories. This article helped the people of Cleveland
pass a 100 million dollar bond to clean up the Cuyahoga River. Much of the industry that both made
Cleveland rich and caused its river to burn may never be coming back. The costs of these fires were
tremendous, but it did help lead to laws being passed to prevent this from happening in other rivers.
One such law was the Clean Water Act of 1972.
The Clean Water Act (CWA) is the primary federal law in which the US governs water pollution. The

Essay Women in Islam
In my research paper, I will try to argue that the way that Muslim extremists treat women in Islam,
couldn t be further away than what the Islam preaches. Misinformation and misconception about
Muslim women is the main reasons why so many Westerner s have the picture of Islam, especially in
America, associated it with bad images of oppressed women hiding in their hijab,, or walking behind
their husbands. What does Islam say about women and their right s. Do Islamic countries follow
Islamic teaching when dealing with women s issues? Beliefs about how Muslim women are treated

The standards of the Joint Commission are a foundation for an objective evaluation process the may

The Reactions to the Death of Addie Bundren through William Faulkner s
As I Lay Dying. The author of As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner, really contributes to the aspects of
literature through his ability to tell a seemingly incredible story through only the stream of
consciousness technique. Faulkner takes his insight beyond the piece, through other s views and
thoughts. Although the characters might be acting differently upon each subject or handling each
action in opposite ways, the tone and theme that he uses really brings the whole piece to a perfect
balance. In As I Lay Dying, Faulkner displays contradicting elements through the reactions of the
family members towards the mother s death with the use of dialogue, tone, imagery, and internal
conflict. When speculating about the only female character, in regards to the mother, it is evident that
a predictable aspect will be found in Dewey Dell for she carries the female qualities in the story. This
statement in As I Lay Dying, Ma, Dewey Dell says; ma! (Faulkner 48) was the first reaction made by
any of the characters towards the death of the mother, and it came from Dewey Dell. Reasons for this
could be the sexist factor that she is a girl, so her reaction will be more emotionally projected than that
of the male characters. However, the aspect of Dewey Dell not being able to let go of her mother can
also play a role in her reaction. This idea is expressed through ...the fan is still moving like it has for

Rupi Kaur Poetry Analysis
When first hearing about Rupi Kaur through Tumblr, I instantly fell in love with her stylistic writing
and ability to clearly convey images through her poems. In each of Kaur s poems, she is able to use
her own experiences in love, abuse, gender, and heartbreak to write a fluid and heart wrenching poem.
Though I cannot relate to all of her poems, she is still able to capture me as a reader into feeling
compassion and sympathy towards the poems and her experiences. Poems that she wrote in her book
Milk and Honey especially stood out to me. Throughout the book you are snakeskin and i know it s
hard spoke to me through her language and images created. Furthermore, did you think i was a city
and when my mother was pregnant were also intriguing poems. Throughout these four poems, an
overall theme of love and femininity were observed. The poems and themes can be observed through
multiple critical theories and lenses, but the reader response and feminist lense were the main two that
were reflected in the poems. The poem you are snakeskin was examined through the reader response
theory. In which, the meaning of the poem was influenced by the readers personal meaning and
interpretation of the poem. Rupi Kaur is speaking about the feeling and emotion of the love and
relationship. Her emotions are greatly conveyed by personification used in her language. Kaur begins
her poem with using the comparison of a snake to describe this love and feeling. In the reference to

The Pros And Cons Of Suburbs Cities

nearest suburb area would be a good consideration.
Suburbs areas are safer atmospheres to raise kids. In that respect are far fewer car accidents than in the

when they are schooling nearby, they can freely walk to train without the parent. Being there can be
much less stressful than in the hustle and hustle of the metropolis. (Wiseman Insurance Agency, 2013)
Suburban areas consist of primarily middle and upper class folks. The bearing of the wealthy families

Essay about The Future of Puerto Rico
Whether or not Puerto Rico becomes the 51st state of the United States of America is an important
issue that has been pondered for the last fifty years. Puerto Rico is currently a Commonwealth of the
United States and has been under U.S. rule for a century. Spain ruled Puerto Rico for about 400 years
prior to the U.S. take over in 1898. The current and pertinent issue, though, is whether Puerto Rico
will remain a Commonwealth of the U.S., become the 51st state, or gain independence. In Doing
Right by Puerto Rico, the former governor of Puerto Rico (1973 1976, 1985 1992) argues that
Congress must take action. He describes the deterioration of the quality of life in Puerto Rico and

The promises for liberty and liberal institutions were slow to begin and never fully completed. Two

Achilles, Aeneas, and Roland
Imagine living in a turbulent world, where people lived their day to day lives praying that they would
see the next sunrise. That was life for villagers that lived during the times of the ancient Greeks and
Romans, as well as during the medieval period when Germanic tribes ruled Europe. To help them get
through their very insecure days, people would tell oral stories of great heroes, like those of Achilles,
Aeneas, and Roland. Achilles was a Greek war hero who fights in the Trojan War, a ten year long war
between Greece and Troy (present day Turkey). Aeneas was an epic hero in ancient Roman folklore.

Peter And Peter In The Gospels Of Matthew And Mark
Peter, one of the most important disciples in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, is portrayed as Jesus
acquaintance and pupil; as well as one of Jesus most important followers. Both of the Gospels seem to
portray Peter in similar ways, yet they draw different images of the disciple. In the Gospel of Matthew,
Peter has a much larger appearance in the teachings of Jesus and becomes more significant to Jesus
throughout the Christian doctrine. However, in Mark, the author portrays Peter as a much lesser
character in the life of Jesus and even leaves Peter out of some of the stories till the end of the book.
Each Gospel portrays a slightly different picture of Peter s personality and role.
Peter is introduced as one of the first followers of Jesus in both Matthew 4:18 and Mark 1:16. Both
passages seem to describe Jesus discussion verbatim. Peter, also known as Simon, was with his
brother and spoke with Jesus. Jesus simply told them, Follow me and I will make you fish for the
people (Matthew 4.19, Mark 1.17). Peter and his brother merely replied, And immediately they left
their nets and followed him (4.20, 1.18). Peter and his brother were fishermen, which could cause
them to either be prosperous or not. This passage portrays Peter and his brother as extremely dedicated

Analysis Of Boccaccio s The Decameron
Throughout the various novelle of the Decameron there lies a rather conflicting role of women in
relation to the society that Boccaccio s Decameron was set in. From novella to novella the theme of
women s gender role fluctuates between misogynistic to feminist. It can be argued that Boccaccio was
a feminist ahead of his time or that he shared the traditional views towards women of 14th century
Italy. Overall, it is fair to say that Boccaccio does depict women as transcending men in many
respects, some of them being positive, and some negative. I believe there is a deeper meaning behind
Boccaccio view s towards women which I will elaborate on below. Giovanni Boccaccio was born in
Florence (Certaldo) in 1313. He was raised predominately by his mother and according to New
Advent Encyclopedia he was a steadfast son who greatly admired his mother and looked upon his
father with some disdain.(1) From what i ve read not much is known about Boccaccio s childhood and
as a result, reports mention Boccaccio s relationship with his father as being mediocre. Most sources
comment that Boccaccio was very close to his mother. I believe there is an important connection of his
relationship with his mother and the way he portrays women in the context of his writings. When
taking this connection into consideration, the gender roles depicted in the Decameron can be better
interpreted. Boccaccio s opinions on love and his subsequent writings were not only influenced by his

I decided to move to the US by myself when I was 17 so I can receive the best education in a place

The Use Of Biologics And Medical Devices Should Be Strict
The level of regulation governed by the FDA over drugs, biologics medical devices is a widely
debated topic. In my point of view, the level of regulation on drugs, biologics and medical devices
should be strict. The current regulations governed by the FDA are very strict and should remain that
way because the base of these regulations are underlined by various tragedies which we don t want to
be repeated. For instance, the thalidomide incident in which many children were born with
Phocomelia (shortening or absence of limbs). Thalidomide, which started as an OTC drug in 1957 as a
remedy for sleeplessness was later found to have off label effects such as mitigation of morning
sickness in pregnant women. Hence was then prescribed worldwide to pregnant women. However, in
1962 Frances Kelsey prevented the approval of this drug in the USA. This resulted in Harris Kefauver
Amendment in 1962 which tightened the investigation and approval of drugs requiring the
manufacturers to prove their safety and efficacy. Many incidents could be avoided in the past if the
regulations were firm and so there is an utter necessity of governing bodies for oversight of clinical
trials, new drug development and manufacturing of drugs, biologics and medical devices. Many of
these unfortunate events were mishaps, but there are many such incidents which are the result of greed
and corruption leading to adulteration of drugs, cosmetics and food products. Until the 19th century

Burgermeister s Daughter Essay
Burgermeister s Daughter
What was the predominant image of women and women s place in medieval society? Actual historical
events, such as the scandal and subsequent litigation revolving around Anna Buschler which Steven
Ozment detail s in the Burgermeisters Daughter, suggests something off a compromise between these
two literary extremes. It is easy to say that life in the sixteenth century was surely no utopia for
women but at least they had some rights.
Anna was the daughter of Hermann Buschler, a prominent citizen who had even been the
burgermeister of the German town of Schwabisch Hall, within the Holy Roman Empire. When she
was young, Anna had simultaneous affairs with a young local nobleman, Erasmus Schenk of Limpurg,

Anna s story shows that women did have some rights, and that they also had, at least in this case, the
ability to defend those rights within legal institutions. Even more important is evidence of public
opinion, instead of siding against Anna as an unfit daughter causing trouble for her family Hall s
citizens actually sided with Anna against her father. In this, both daughter s obedience to father and
woman s obedience to man were turned on their heads, revealing that regardless of religious doctrines
of male authority, life among the people was much more complex.
While not a complete victory for Anna, the battle for her inheritance was not a complete loss either.
She capably fought her father and even the entire city council of Hall. This was no easy task because
she couldn t represent herself in court. It was one of the first times where the moral code of Germany
was overturned. She contested her father and went against the respect you re supposed to have. Her
story was not a complete positive statement of female dominance, because that certainly was not the
case, an ugly thirty year court battle doesn t indicate disempowerment either, even though her battle
didn t personally benefit her to the fullest, it was a large step for women.

Definition Of Drunk Driving
People often get confused with the different terms used to describe or classify drunk driving. The fact
is that there really is not much difference between them. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state uses
the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence. All three
terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving.
DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York,
Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including
Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as OWI
(Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII (Driving
under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI (Driving
While Under the Influence).
Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the prevalence of
drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated continues to increase.
Drunk driving incidents are especially observed during holidays such as Independence Day, St. Patrick
s Day and Cinco de Mayo. On St. Patrick s Day alone, police officers got 41 drunks out of 1300
vehicles that were checked. In 2016, there were 999 DUIs and this number did not include North KC,
Jackson County, and other nearby areas.

Summary:
The novel leaves readers with a quandary, Haynes writes, that resonates with a deep question faced
eventually by everyone: How shall I respond to claims that God speaks directly to individuals,
instructing them to behave in ways I judge to be immoral? Stating that God issues commands for what
appear to be immoral acts raises at least the perception, and comes close to asserting, that God
commands and controls evil as well as good. For satisfaction atonement, Jesus death is aimed at God
or aimed Godward the target of Jesus death is God s honor or God s law. God s honor not only needs
the death, but God also arranges for Jesus to die to pay the debt to God s honor. The evil powers who
oppose the reign of God by killing Jesus whether the devil, the mob, or the Romans are the ones who
are actually doing the will of God, are doing God a favor by killing Jesus to provide the payment that
God s honor or God s law demands. Since the death of Jesus is also professed to be good and salvific,
this image has God orchestrating both good and evil salvation for some of God s children depends on
God directing the death of another of God s children. Weaver explains to the audience how God
answers to our call, how he knows how to heal us when we are hurting, and answers to the question of
Why did Jesus have to die? or How does Jesus death save? .
Reflection:
The reason why I picked this article because it talks about why Owen Meany had to die, and what did
he save when he died. God had a reason why Owen was put on the earth, and in order to save John

challenging burdens, regardless of race or gender. The article Florida s First Female Lighthouse
Keeper states that The Coast Guard now honors Maria Andreu as its first female employee, as well as
one of its earliest Hispanic members. Maria opened up new doors and proved that women and
Hispanics can find a place in the sun and make a mark in

Similarities Between Science And Science
introduction Religion and Science are very compatible; they both provide knowledge and
understanding of human nature and the world in which humankind live. Galileo According to Galileo,
there are two kinds of truth. One is the truth acquires through intellects, experience, and vital
evidence. The second is the truth acquired through bible teachings. The bible is meant to explain
topics that are beyond human reasoning, things that cannot be proven by science. Accordingly,
religious truth is strongly based on faith; it depends on the teachings of a divine being and not on
evidence. Science, on the other hand, contributes knowledge on things that cannot be literally
explained by the Bible; every statement made in science must be proven with facts. Nonetheless, these
different truths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When used in conjunction, science and religion contribute knowledge that allows people to seal the
gaps that may exist in each other s theories. They complete each other. They are both guides that make
people life more fulfilling by providing answers to common questions like creation. Conclusion: In
conclusion, religion is compatible with science because they are both sources of knowledge and
understanding to humankind. They give people, the answers to common questions about existence.
The bible allows human beings to gain knowledge in a humble way by establishing a higher power as
the source of all knowledge. Science, however, allows human beings to make their own discoveries,
using the gifts given to them by the Higher power, to gain knowledge. While religion teaches human
beings that some knowledge cannot be proven, science gives them the tools needed to gain evidence
of the things that can. Science and religion, when well interpreted, support each other. They complete
each other theories by filling each other s gap. For example, God can be inserted into science big bang
theory to explain what came before the big

Symbolism in UP
House:
The house is where Carl and Ellie first met each other as kids, where they chose to spend the rest of
their lives together and turned it into the home of their dreams. As the movie gets going Carl s house
symbolizes his connection with Ellie and how he is holding on to her memory by staying with the
house, even if it s inconvenient or unnecessary. Carl isolates himself from the rest of the world and his
house seems a refuge from everyone and everything that want something from him.
At first, the house just sits there, resisting everything that wants it gone. Representing Carl and how he
does not want to budge, how he s determined to accomplish what Ellie always dreamed of , just like a

Kevin is a parent and as we learn early on in the film, Carl and Ellie never had kids and Russel doesn t
have much of a father; symbolising the parenthood Carl never got a chance to give and Russel never
had, as we learn that his father was never there for him. Kevin somewhat adopts Russel, giving him
security and care, proving that a wild bird does a better parenting job than his actual parents do. Also,
the fact that Ellie lost a child must resonate somewhere inside Carl because he makes sure that Kevin
is reunited with her children.
Scenes where shown:

Truman and the Creation of Israel Essay
Truman and the Creation of Israel
With the growing pressure for a new state of Israel after the atrocities committed against the Jews in
World War Two, President Franklin D Roosevelt s adopted a neutral policy towards Palestine.
Roosevelt felt like the United States needed complete cooperation from Jews and Muslims before they
could get involved. When Roosevelt passed away in April of 1945, Harry Truman was thrown into the
presidency of the United States. Along with the ongoing war with Japan and difficulties with the
Soviet Union, there was immediate pressure from Zionist leaders to get something done. Truman said
I felt like the moon, the stars, and all the planets have fallen on me (Levantrosser). When Truman took

Truman ignored the advice of his most trusted advisors because his Christian religious background
and its emphasis on biblical teachings influenced his beliefs, value system, and moral absolutes, all of
which directed him toward actively assisting in the creation of Israel. It is well documented that Harry
S. Truman was a very religious man. His strong Christian beliefs were vital in the early decision
making process on the Palestine conflict. Harry S. Truman was born in the small town of Lamar,
Missouri. When Truman was 6 years old, his family moved so that Harry could attend a church school
in Independence, Missouri. The opportunity for Harry to be raised on strong Christian values was one
of his parents top priorities. Harry took a special interest in reading, writing, and especially history.
Studying the Bible became a fascination for Harry even as a young child and the Bible became a vital
part of Harry s upbringing. He was known as a bookish learner and a great student of history
(Hillman). Truman s fascination for the Middle East was evident. He stated that, It was here where so
much of our history was made. (Hillman) Truman once held a meeting in the Oval Office to discuss
the historical significance of the Middle East and especially the Palestine region. He pulled out a map
from his desk and began talking about the Middle East. Truman spent over an hour discussing the
historical significance of different areas of Palestine.

The Correlation Between Influencing Organization Culture...
The correlation between influencing organization culture and leaderships go hand and hand.
Organizational culture refers to the beliefs and values that exist in an organization and to the beliefs of
the staff and the foreseen value of their work that will influence their work ethic. Schein (1992, 2004)
defines the culture of a group or organization as shared assumptions and beliefs about the world and
their place in it, the nature of time and space, human nature, and human relationships. (pg. 326) On the
other hand, leadership provides the vision and helps the organization move in the direction to
accomplish the best or the organization and the employees. It is important to understand the
relationship between organizational culture and leadership and how they influence each other. Yukl
states that by changing the culture of an organization, top management can indirectly influence the
motivation and behavior of organization members. Research on organizational culture provides further
insight into the dynamics of transformational leadership and the processes by which a leader s
charisma may become institutionalized. (pg. 326) In the article, it talks about four ways to influence
organizational culture Programs, Systems, Structures, and Cultural Forms.
Design of management systems and programs
Criteria for rewards and personnel decisions
Design of structure and facilities
Symbols, ritual, ceremonies, and stories.

Crucial Similarities Of Martin Luther King Jrr And Indira...
Crucial similarities between Martin Luther King Jr and Indira Gandhi The best leaders have
momentous impact on a society due to their enormous effort of enchanting their countries by bringing
about important changes, and many people want to be like these influential public figures. However,
not all people are born with qualities to be great leaders. Although, some people are born to be
honorable and memorable leaders, such as Martin Luther King Jr and Indira Gandhi. Usually, many
kids spend most of their time playing with cars, dolls or playing with their friends, but these two didn t
have usual childhoods as others had. Instead, many people would say, both Martin and Indira had
unique lives. They had various similarities such as participating in public activities, having supportive
parents, sacrificing themselves for their country and being assassinated. Ever since they were kids,
they participated in public activities to share their voices. For Martin Luther King Jr, being a black and
segregated didn t make any sense to him. He had to be in a different place from white people even if
he was in a restaurant. In a fact that, he wasn t allowed to have a seat on a bus because the color of his

Not following society s expectations has consequences such as being an outcast or being different
from everyone. Being different is sometimes where bullying comes into play. Society is known to
crush individuality. (Litt, Sheldon) The idea is to live life by your own rules and do as you please.
Everyday life is complicated for Jenna, hence the name of the series. She has her own blog titled the
invisible girl that she types in everyday about how her day went, similar to a personal journal. When
Jenna gets home from school on the second day, she is typing in her blog as she reads the letter she
received, a carefrontation letter . The letter states, Jenna, as you are now, you could disappear and no
one would notice. Below is a list of suggestions that you should seriously consider: 1. Stop being such

Strike The Gavel Swing The Blade
Jonathan Bazinet
Mrs. McKee
AP Language and Composition
16 April 2013
Strike the Gavel; Swing the Blade Is our government capable of enforcing a final means of
punishment upon criminals? Do we have the right to take the life of a criminal? When is it time to
exercise lethal leverage, or is the life of criminal not to be ended by our government? These questions
are the reason the controversy of capital punishment remains far being settled. With so much money
being placed into our nations prisons, and so many victims and their families feeling that the offenses
committed against them have gone completely unpunished, we must drop the blade of capital
punishment, at full force.
Imagine sitting in a large room in Redding County, Iowa. You have chills running down your spine,
but not the kind you get from a cold breeze. These are the terrifying chills you receive when you find
yourself no more than twenty five feet from a true monster. This monster is Brian Eric Norton, the
man who stalked a 53 year old mother, and then raped and killed her. This nightmare was a reality for
the daughter of the victim Despina Magioudis. Instead of watching her mother s murderer sentenced
to death, she had to see him granted the life penalty. She then returned home, with the knowledge that
her tax dollars were paying for the meals of the man who took her mother s life (Lowe). Now imagine
standing in your front yard facing an inferno that was once your home. Then think of

Analysis Of The Poem A Little Tooth By Thomas Lux
Enjambment in Thomas Lux s Poem, A Little Tooth. Enjambment refers to the continuation of a clause
or a sentence without a pause beyond the end of a line, stanza, or couplet. The purpose of enjambment
in poetry is to enable an idea to progress beyond the limitations of a single line, mostly to emphasize a
particular idea within the lines themselves. Also, poets adopt this style to surprise a reader, by
introducing an idea in the first line, and changing it in the next. This allows a poet to draw the reader
from one line to the next and create a fast pace or rhythm for a poem. In the poem, A Little Tooth , the
poet typically wanted to demonstrates the flow of an idea beyond the limitation of a single line. The
poet is very skilled in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a way to elicit sympathy from the audience, the poet employs imagery and descriptive phrases to
pass the message. This is exemplified in the lines, ... I understood / by the age of twelve what it meant
to be unwanted, exiled, (2000, pp. 679 680) ... . Here, the poet uses the image of a twelve year old
child who is alone and miserable to highlight the plight immigrants. The imagery is meant for the
readers to show some sympathy towards immigrants. As a reader, this descriptive phrase elicits
sympathy because the kid is depicted as miserable and unwanted. Another form of image in the poem
is when the narrator says, ... you move from one country to another where nobody / wants you,
nobody knows you, and I sat in front of the TV, (Suárez, 2000, pp. 679 680). As a reader, I picture
myself homeless, wandering from one place to another seeking refuge. This line allows the mind to
experience a picture of lonely child moving from one place to another, probably dirty, hungry,

Analysis Of The Confession Of Thomas Cartwright
From the volumes of the historian cleric Richard Door.
The confession of a young artisan s son, Thomas Cartwright, on the fifteenth of August 1348 in the
English city of Bristol, as recorded by a historian of the city (myself, the honorable Richard Door), for
a vicar of the Bishop of Lincoln, having arrived in the city, was in such demand as for confessions to
be taken in the main square, is laid out here in script to be observed by our decedents in condemnation
of the decadence with which we led our lives in horror at how those lives were ended by vengeance
from the Lord.
The young man approached the vicar, whose reticence for his duty was more than evident, wearing a
smock not unlike that of a young nobleman, and but for having ragged in all other respects, could have
been mistaken as much. The vicar placed his hands gloved in cowhide and perfumed with oils of the
orient out of fear of the pestilence on the head of the young artisan s son. You may confess, Bless me
Father, for I have sinned, the boy said, kneeling. My last confession was in May. Since my last
confession, I have sinned against my father, against my brothers, against my country, against my
church, and against my God. I have not attended mass since the arrival of the pestilence. I fear the
swelling, as I have seen it take to God my father, my mother, and my four brothers. Each in turn fell ill
and within several nights was so afflicted with the boubous that I fled the house and slept with the
horse in the stable. The house so stank of the fluid of the sickness that I dared no enter until four
nights had passed in the stable and no noise came from within. I took nothing and fled to the streets. I
failed to see to the burial of my family. They rot where they fell, the rats crawling from corpse to
corpse. Fearing death myself, and knowing it is coming for me, too, I ran from home to home on our
street and where there were the dead I took what coins I could find and stored them in my purse. A
boy about my age lay swollen on the floor of one fine house by the port his father was a merchant, I
think and I took his coat you see here, very fine, and washed the fluid that comes with death from the
fabric in the sea. I have drunk to

Corruption Of Power In Macbeth
Power gives people the ability to control and influence. It is held and used in many ways, significant
and insignificant, for justice, mercy or desire. Because of its ability to give people what they want,
power tempts people into doing the unthinkable in order to acquire it. Power itself is uncorrupted, only
tainted and weaponised by those who hold it. In Shakespeare s Macbeth and Suzanne Collins Hunger
Games: Mocking Jay Part Two, manipulation and suggestion are shown to corrupt power and
contribute to its use in the name of evil. Through a comparison of literary devices in Macbeth and
Mockingjay Part Two , humanity s corruption of power will be explored and unveiled
In Macbeth manipulation is a tool for lady Macbeth to tempt Macbeth into doing evil to gain power.
Derogatory language in the line and live a coward in thine on esteem reveals lady Macbeth s attempt
to manipulate her husband through his own ego. Macbeth at the beginning of the play is a man who
takes pride in bravery. Through referring to him as the opposite of brave for not wanting to murder
Duncan, she is using his ego to lead him into doing what she wants. By manipulating Macbeth s ego,
she gains power over him, as well as the whole of Scotland after Duncan s murder. Using
manipulation to gain power over someone and tempt them into murder is not unique to Macbeth
In Mockingjay, President Snow manipulates Katniss into killing coin, gaining power over her
decisions through suggestion. Repetition in the line I ve been watching you, and you me emphasises
Snow s self perceived similarity to Katniss in that they were both distracted with each other while a
common enemy was in power. Snow suggesting that Katniss is powerless under somebody who is evil
causes her to seek justice against her oppressor and turn her attention away from Snow. She hadn t
thought of Coin as an enemy who should not have power until it was suggested to her. Snow did this
intentionally so that he could eliminate coin and hope to turn the attention away from himself.
suggestion as a means to manipulate others is also present in Macbeth.
Lady Macbeth consciously misuses her power to tempt Macbeth through suggestion. Imagery In the

  • 2. Isolation And Happiness In Edwin Arlington Robinson s... In Robinson s Richard Cory , the speaker does not see Cory s isolation and emptiness, which is crucial to understanding the meaning of the poem, which is money cannot buy happiness. The poem begins with the introduction of Richard Cory and how the townspeople view him. The speaker of the poem is one of the people on the pavement, which implies that he is in a lower social class than Cory. Immediately, Richard Cory s high status is evident as the speaker describes him as a gentleman and the words crown and imperially suggests royalty. In line 9, the speaker states that Cory was rich yes, richer than a king . However, the townspeople fails to realize that with Cory s wealth, he does not need to work, resulting in a dull, meaningless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Case Study Texas Gulf Seawater To the City Planners of Hidalgo County, TX, Our name is Team Ramrod. We are an efficient, dedicated and goal oriented team comprised of three engineers, two Chemical and one Biochemical, all having received diplomas from the Colorado School of Mines. Recently we were assigned the task of designing a cost and energy efficient manner with which to provide the residents of your community with clean, usable, even drinkable water. Prior to commencing the project, we have some questions and concerns we wish to address with you so that we may better be able to serve you and your residents in designing this project. You have expressed interest in exploring the possibilities of using brackish water from several geothermal wells located within 10 miles of the city, as well as exploring the idea of using Texas Gulf seawater as resources for this project. As a team, we agree these sources of water show great potential in helping us design a solution to this problem. Currently, we are exploring the feasibility of efficiently transporting water from these sources to Hidalgo County and using water treatment plants to provide clean and useable water for the residents. With the consideration of feasibility as well as practicality, we have several topics pertinent to the design of this project that must be addressed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. The Waterfront By Terry Malloy Terry Malloy is a dock worker for the union and in this story, this is the first main point of why he is being controlled by the MOB. In one scene, where Terry is in the office, Terry is being treated as a child towards Johnny and it makes him feel overwhelmed. Also, out on the docks, his bosses treats Terry poorly because they are rude to him and it make him work very hard to earn his pay. For an example, pigeons, on the other hand, is a symbol that represents the life that Terry wants because he wishes he was free from the union, to be like a pigeon, and the reason is that he says, they got it made, they eat all they want, fly around like crazy, sleep side by side, and raise gobs of squads (On the Waterfront). Another thing about pigeons, is that they are beautiful creatures that can be seen from power lines and in large fields too. The last part about being controlled by the MOB is because there is a good side about it because this is when Terry is feeding the pigeons, he is happy, and he is away from the MOB. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first thing that makes him upset is when the bosses doesn t share the income with the workers because they keep them for themselves. Another thing is because Terry is upset that Joey is dead because he lured Joey by telling him, I ll bring him up to your loft, but the result was a death trap (On the Waterfront). Also, on the other hand, Father Barry is another character that Terry did not like because Terry was a murder which made him very upset, and this is because he explains to Father Barry about keepin silent when you know the score (On the Waterfront). The last thing is that Terry did see a lot of deaths which the hooks might be Terry s end, but this is when he is going to do something about his bosses actions towards the ... The Search For Inhabitable Exoplanets The Search for Inhabitable exoplanets Student name Institution name Course name Course Code Date The Search for Inhabitable exoplanets Throughout the history of humanity, numerous scientists have been intrigued by the search for inhabitable exoplanets. To date, such ventures are still in the developmental stages and the discovery of life beyond earth and the solar system , regardless of how primitive it may be, may soon be regarded as a fundamental breakthrough in astronomy (Jones Mukai, 2007). The fundamental properties to be considered if a place is habitable are: presence of organic materials, water and energy sources. Habitability of the planet also takes into consideration, nearness of the planet to the sun, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2011). The closest known exoplanet orbiting star is called Epislon Eridani, which is 63 trillion miles away it is close to 14,000 times away from Neptune, the farthest planets in our solar system (Horner Jones, 2010). Due to the great distance, exoplanets cannot be viewed directly since the amount of light they reflect is too faint to be detected from a far off distance (Horner Jones, 2010). Alternatively, scientists infer the presence of an exoplanet from the changes in wavelength of light illuminating from the star, this may be caused by the gravitational pull from an orbiting planet or the regulation of brightness of the star due to transiting planets. When Fermi Paradox was proposed initially, most people thought planets were rare. Nevertheless, since then the astrological tools have discovered the existence of numerous exoplanets. However, with each new discovery of an earth like planet for instance Epislon Eridani, it becomes less likely that there could exist a planet apart from the Earth that can support life. Using methods such as those stated above, scientists have been able to discover hundreds of exoplanets and the first detection was in 1995. Once they detect one, they begin evaluating it to ascertain whether it can support life. Further, they analyze the light spectrum that radiates from the star in order to reveal the properties of the planet. The hunt is still on for planets, which are about the size of earth and those that are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay On The Dust Bowl The Dust Bowl was a difficult time that caused people to lose their lives or to have difficult ones. People got diseases, others lost everything they had, and kids didn t get to grow up normal. One of these kids was Timothy Johnson. One day, he and his brothers were out when their mom called them in, as she did a loud sound crashed through their trees. They heard the stories of many dust storms forming but Timothy hadn t known how they would affect his life. They watched as dust clouded around them, they couldn t even see the tree Timothy and his brothers had played by. Days later after the first storm, Timothy went back to school and talked about it with his friends. A few days later at school another one hit, and all the kids had the realization of what was happening. About 6 months later kids would wear masks and many had gotten illnesses from what was now know as the Dust Bowl. Timothy grew up a lot during the Dust Bowl, he went through many hardships and learned what to do to help out his family. After, he wrote a documentary about it later becoming famous for the perfect way he portrayed it. Yet the story of Tim was only one of many caused by the Dust Bowl, an awful time that destroyed many lives. The Dust Bowl was a dark and difficult part of life for people of the 1930 s. The Dust Bowl spread many diseases resulting in many people losing their lives. English professor, Cary Nelson, explained The simplest acts of life, breathing, eating a meal, taking a walk, were ... • 10. How To Enhance Food Many people will say that the less seasoning you use on a steak, the more enjoyable it will be. The reality is that even a good cut of meat will need some seasoning if you want to maximize your enjoyment and the nutritional benefit that you get from it. You should opt for simpler options if possible but spices have been used to enhance food throughout history for a reason. The reason is that if you use them correctly, you can enhance both nutrition and flavor. To get a truly flavorful steak, consider seasoning it with the following spices. Salt Salt is the essential seasoning for savory dishes. For steak, you will want to use a salt with fine crystals. The reason is that those crystals will dissolve more quickly and take less time to be absorbed into the meat. Larger crystals will not dissolve unless there is a lot of water present. You can use kosher salt or any other large crystal salt as a finishing salt to be sprinkled onto the meat after it has been cooked. You will want these salts to stick around since their purpose is as much to enhance the presentation as it is to enhance the flavor and texture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ideally, you should grind the pepper right onto the steak just before it goes on the grill or into the cast iron skillet. Like many spices, black pepper loses its flavor quickly after being ground. • 11. Supply Curve Between Price And Quantity A market is a physical place where buyers and sellers come together in one place to transact with each other. The demand curve shows the relation between price and quantity demanded other things equal. The supply curve shows the relation between price and quantity supplied other things equal. Where these meet is the equilibrium. This is the output where firms should produce. A need is a necessity, something you can t do without. A good example is food. If you don t eat, you won t survive for long. The market is mankind s most valuable tool for meeting the needs of the people because only a market understands the needs and wants of customers, and how these differ. They also understand the buying behaviour of customers (why, what and how they buy) and the nature of demand in the market (how are prices set the factors that influence the quantity of demand) A very good example for markets meeting mankind s needs is the electronic market. They provide an easier way for start ups to enter a national market, particularly if the business has identified a small niche segment of that market. They tend to be highly price competitive since it is quite easy for customers to search for products from a variety of suppliers and to compare the best prices available (just about every consumer goods market has one or more price comparison website). They also provide things that we didn t even know we needed for example mobile phones. Who knew 30 years ago mobile phones would have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is my hero C.A.F. I married a fish. Now don t think I am insulting my dear spouse, implying that she looks like a slimy creature that spends its life in the sea. I am simply trying to illustrate that C is all about being in the water at every opportunity at her disposal. The true irony of the situation is that while she acts like a fish, she despises seafood. It s a pity because seafood is one of life s great pleasures. In her high school years (what we like to call the Neolithic period) she was on her swim team, and to my understanding was damned good. I was at work that day, so I am going to describe what took place as best as I can recall from the story she told me. She was finishing up a swim and was getting out of the pool, and the concrete area around the pool was slicker than she expected. She took one step, and the next thing she knew she had taken a hard sit down on her backside. C doesn t take being embarrassed well. • 13. Noise Pollution And Restricting Use Of Loudspeakers II. Restriction on Loudspeakers Now a days it is very difficult to deal with the issue of Noise. In early times there was no disturbance to students by early worshipping of various religious temples but now this has increased and I wonder how will students like us who study in morning be able to work in this. Then came the judgment of Supreme Court in 2005 Issue: Supreme court on Noise Pollution All types of horns (some are extremely loud) in automobiles, factories, industries, painting of cars, loudspeakers, amplifiers which generate loud noises and when it is played in residential area, it is prohibited. Use of loudspeakers in temple, gurudwaras, mosques have to be regulated soon. There is always a certain limit to noise in decibels which should not be exceeded. So law does not totally prohibit but has condition that it should not disturb other peaceful life. Therefore during Diwali, Fire crackers are completely prohibited if it makes noise which is above the specified decibels. o And it has to be regulated and prevented that unnecessarily crackers are not burnt especially during night hours. A. Shelter behind 19(1)(A) In the most celebrated case law on Use of Loudspeakers, In reference to Noise Pollution and restricting use of Loudspeakers It is the fact that when someone is guilty they try to hide and take shelter behind vague things. • 14. How Does Climate Change Affect Agriculture Will Climate Change Affect Agriculture? Climate change otherwise known as global warming has been an ongoing issue for decades. Beginning in the 19th century, climate change has increasingly affected Earth and its atmosphere. Rising levels of carbon dioxide are warming the Earth s atmosphere, causing rising sea levels, melting snow and ice, extreme fires and droughts, and intense rainfall and floods. Climate change has and will continue to affect food production, availability of water, and can add to many health risks in humans and animals. In fact, in an article by Justin Gillis titled, Scientists Warn of Perilous Climate Shift Within Decades, Not Centuries he focuses on a paper written by a former NASA climate scientist, James E. Hansen, explaining the effects of climate change on Earth today. Although many believe Hansen s theories in the paper are quite far fetched, the author mentions, Despite any reservations they might have about the new paper, virtually all climate scientists agree with Dr. Hansen s group that society is not moving fast enough to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, posing grave risks (Gillis). Gillis validates the fact that climate change has been rapidly expanding throughout Earth and society has not been able to reduce it fast enough. Many negative risks are being posed and will continue to mount if the issue of climate change is not taken seriously. On my way to Fort McMurray, I could not explain the emotions that were going through me. I felt fear, anticipation, and other feelings. As I was near the city, I saw the burned trees, destroyed houses, burned cars, trampolines, and bikes. Some houses were burned halfway while others only had the foundations leftover. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the climate and the vegetation will work hand in hand in your survival. Victoria is a place that has a more moderate, dryer climate in the summer and mild, average amount of precipitation. This is important to the vegetation because it s not too cold where you can t grow anything (seeds, flowers, herbs etc.) and it s not too hot in certain areas where your crops will burn out and leave you hungry. Then, the landscape and the climate work together varying from the availability of water to the population of people fleeing there. Victoria has a very beautiful scenery and the climate works with it so that you can feel comfortable when appreciating the view. Although it is one of the major tourist attractions, but not many people spend a lot of their time in the forests on the mountains, therefore giving you an advantage of space and utilities. In addition the climate works so that the water that is near you will not diminish and can access it easily by simply walking down to the fjords. Keep in mind that soil and vegetation also work hand in hand because depending on where you decide to camp, there will be different types of soil that can affect your planting (I.e. Leached soil). If you re looking to plant more seeds and herbs look out for sandy loam, which is an even mixture of all the types of soils and will be easiest to attend to by composting any fruit or nut items you have. Lastly the climate and the soil work well together because although it can be quite dry in Victoria, there is enough precipitation to treat the soil instead of damaging (for example having too much precipitation or not having ... The effects of war as a theme in W.B.Yeats s Easter 1916 and An Irish Airman Foresees His Death Easter 1916 and An Irishman Foresees His Death are poems which were written by William Butler Yeats. Easter 1916 was written to relive the Easter Rising, an event which occurred in Ireland during Easter in the year 1916 to confirm its independence and national identity from British. An Irishman Foresees His Death was written as a tribute to Major Robert Gregory who had died while fighting for his country during World War I. For the perception of war in Easter 1916 it was a patriotic and collective force especially fighting for their nation. However, in An Irish Airman Foresees His Death, the Irishman though he was patriotic he makes war sound as though they had to go out of compulsion or was forced to go. Moreover the airman flew in the sky not only to fight but also to fulfill his desire. Those that I fight I do not hate, Those that I guard I do not love (Yeats, 1918). There is deep irony in this statement because Yeats says that those people who fight for his country and people are the courageous man whom the poet worships and he hates those people who always try to rule and make other people to follow them. This statement signifies Yeats hatred towards British country that conquered and ruled Ireland. Although they had positive thoughts towards Germany they were insisted to revolt against by the British. In Easter 1916, British colonized Ireland and harsh anti Catholic law were passed upon Irish people, that led to increase in Irish Nationalism and it let to revolt in. So in this context, Yeats is talking about the British for being too offensive and it makes the people wonder how many Irish people suffered and had been killed during World War I. The author of As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner, really contributes to the aspects of literature through his ability to tell a seemingly incredible story through only the stream of consciousness technique. Faulkner takes his insight beyond the piece, through other s views and thoughts. Although the characters might be acting differently upon each subject or handling each action in opposite ways, the tone and theme that he uses really brings the whole piece to a perfect balance. In As I Lay Dying, Faulkner displays contradicting elements through the reactions of the family members towards the mother s death with the use of dialogue, tone, imagery, and internal conflict. When speculating about the only female character, in regards to the mother, it is evident that a predictable aspect will be found in Dewey Dell for she carries the female qualities in the story. This statement in As I Lay Dying, Ma, Dewey Dell says; ma! (Faulkner 48) was the first reaction made by any of the characters towards the death of the mother, and it came from Dewey Dell. Analysis Of Boccaccio s The Decameron Throughout the various novelle of the Decameron there lies a rather conflicting role of women in relation to the society that Boccaccio s Decameron was set in. From novella to novella the theme of women s gender role fluctuates between misogynistic to feminist. It can be argued that Boccaccio was a feminist ahead of his time or that he shared the traditional views towards women of 14th century Italy. Overall, it is fair to say that Boccaccio does depict women as transcending men in many respects, some of them being positive, and some negative. I believe there is a deeper meaning behind Boccaccio view s towards women which I will elaborate on below. Giovanni Boccaccio was born in Florence (Certaldo) in 1313. He was raised predominately by his mother and according to New Advent Encyclopedia he was a steadfast son who greatly admired his mother and looked upon his father with some disdain.(1) From what i ve read not much is known about Boccaccio s childhood and as a result, reports mention Boccaccio s relationship with his father as being mediocre. Most sources comment that Boccaccio was very close to his mother. I believe there is an important connection of his relationship with his mother and the way he portrays women in the context of his writings. When taking this connection into consideration, the gender roles depicted in the Decameron can be better interpreted. For instance, the thalidomide incident in which many children were born with Phocomelia (shortening or absence of limbs). Thalidomide, which started as an OTC drug in 1957 as a remedy for sleeplessness was later found to have off label effects such as mitigation of morning sickness in pregnant women. Hence was then prescribed worldwide to pregnant women. However, in 1962 Frances Kelsey prevented the approval of this drug in the USA. This resulted in Harris Kefauver Amendment in 1962 which tightened the investigation and approval of drugs requiring the manufacturers to prove their safety and efficacy. Many incidents could be avoided in the past if the regulations were firm and so there is an utter necessity of governing bodies for oversight of clinical trials, new drug development and manufacturing of drugs, biologics and medical devices. Many of these unfortunate events were mishaps, but there are many such incidents which are the result of greed and corruption leading to adulteration of drugs, cosmetics and food products. Until the 19th century the slaughter, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Burgermeister s Daughter Essay Burgermeister s Daughter What was the predominant image of women and women s place in medieval society? Actual historical events, such as the scandal and subsequent litigation revolving around Anna Buschler which Steven Ozment detail s in the Burgermeisters Daughter, suggests something off a compromise between these two literary extremes. It is easy to say that life in the sixteenth century was surely no utopia for women but at least they had some rights. Anna was the daughter of Hermann Buschler, a prominent citizen who had even been the burgermeister of the German town of Schwabisch Hall, within the Holy Roman Empire. When she was young, Anna had simultaneous affairs with a young local nobleman, Erasmus Schenk of Limpurg, and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anna s story shows that women did have some rights, and that they also had, at least in this case, the ability to defend those rights within legal institutions. Even more important is evidence of public opinion, instead of siding against Anna as an unfit daughter causing trouble for her family Hall s citizens actually sided with Anna against her father. In this, both daughter s obedience to father and woman s obedience to man were turned on their heads, revealing that regardless of religious doctrines of male authority, life among the people was much more complex. While not a complete victory for Anna, the battle for her inheritance was not a complete loss either. She capably fought her father and even the entire city council of Hall. This was no easy task because she couldn t represent herself in court. It was one of the first times where the moral code of Germany was overturned. She contested her father and went against the respect you re supposed to have. Her story was not a complete positive statement of female dominance, because that certainly was not the case, an ugly thirty year court battle doesn t indicate disempowerment either, even though her battle didn t personally benefit her to the fullest, it was a large step for women. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state uses the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence. All three terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving. DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York, Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as OWI (Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII (Driving under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI (Driving While Under the Influence). Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the prevalence of drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated continues to increase. Accessed 30 Sept. 2017. Summary: The novel leaves readers with a quandary, Haynes writes, that resonates with a deep question faced eventually by everyone: How shall I respond to claims that God speaks directly to individuals, instructing them to behave in ways I judge to be immoral? Stating that God issues commands for what appear to be immoral acts raises at least the perception, and comes close to asserting, that God commands and controls evil as well as good. For satisfaction atonement, Jesus death is aimed at God or aimed Godward the target of Jesus death is God s honor or God s law. God s honor not only needs the death, but God also arranges for Jesus to die to pay the debt to God s honor. The evil powers who oppose the reign of God by killing Jesus whether the devil, the mob, or the Romans are the ones who are actually doing the will of God, are doing God a favor by killing Jesus to provide the payment that God s honor or God s law demands. Since the death of Jesus is also professed to be good and salvific, this image has God orchestrating both good and evil salvation for some of God s children depends on God directing the death of another of God s children. Weaver explains to the audience how God answers to our call, how he knows how to heal us when we are hurting, and answers to the question of Why did Jesus have to die? or How does Jesus death save? . Reflection: The reason why I picked this article because it talks about why Owen Meany had to die, and what did he save when he died. Enjambment refers to the continuation of a clause or a sentence without a pause beyond the end of a line, stanza, or couplet. The purpose of enjambment in poetry is to enable an idea to progress beyond the limitations of a single line, mostly to emphasize a particular idea within the lines themselves. Also, poets adopt this style to surprise a reader, by introducing an idea in the first line, and changing it in the next. This allows a poet to draw the reader from one line to the next and create a fast pace or rhythm for a poem. The confession of a young artisan s son, Thomas Cartwright, on the fifteenth of August 1348 in the English city of Bristol, as recorded by a historian of the city (myself, the honorable Richard Door), for a vicar of the Bishop of Lincoln, having arrived in the city, was in such demand as for confessions to be taken in the main square, is laid out here in script to be observed by our decedents in condemnation of the decadence with which we led our lives in horror at how those lives were ended by vengeance from the Lord. The young man approached the vicar, whose reticence for his duty was more than evident, wearing a smock not unlike that of a young nobleman, and but for having ragged in all other respects, could have been mistaken as much. The vicar placed his hands gloved in cowhide and perfumed with oils of the orient out of fear of the pestilence on the head of the young artisan s son. • 50. Corruption Of Power In Macbeth Power gives people the ability to control and influence. It is held and used in many ways, significant and insignificant, for justice, mercy or desire. Because of its ability to give people what they want, power tempts people into doing the unthinkable in order to acquire it. Power itself is uncorrupted, only tainted and weaponised by those who hold it. In Shakespeare s Macbeth and Suzanne Collins Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part Two, manipulation and suggestion are shown to corrupt power and contribute to its use in the name of evil. Through a comparison of literary devices in Macbeth and Mockingjay Part Two , humanity s corruption of power will be explored and unveiled In Macbeth manipulation is a tool for lady Macbeth to tempt Macbeth into doing evil to gain power. Derogatory language in the line and live a coward in thine on esteem reveals lady Macbeth s attempt to manipulate her husband through his own ego. Macbeth at the beginning of the play is a man who takes pride in bravery. Through referring to him as the opposite of brave for not wanting to murder Duncan, she is using his ego to lead him into doing what she wants. By manipulating Macbeth s ego, she gains power over him, as well as the whole of Scotland after Duncan s murder. Using manipulation to gain power over someone and tempt them into murder is not unique to Macbeth In Mockingjay, President Snow manipulates Katniss into killing coin, gaining power over her decisions through suggestion. Repetition in the line I ve been watching you, and you me emphasises Snow s self perceived similarity to Katniss in that they were both distracted with each other while a common enemy was in power. Snow suggesting that Katniss is powerless under somebody who is evil causes her to seek justice against her oppressor and turn her attention away from Snow. She hadn t thought of Coin as an enemy who should not have power until it was suggested to her.
