Ulysses Vs Lady Of Shalott Essay
The Victorian era was a time of contradiction. While England lamented its traditional values, it also
saw the potential for a better quality of life through industrialization. Tennyson presents this paradox,
between traditional acceptance of life and a progressive need for enhancement, in his poems Ulysses
and The Lady of Shalott . Both of these poems express a want for self revolution while each
protagonist has duties and societal expectations that are holding them back. Tennyson uses experience,
gender, and identity in Ulysses and The Lady of Shalott to explore the idea of personal revolution.
Ulysses wish for change is greatly fueled by his past experiences. Ulysses states I am a part of all that

Ulysses feels his job as a king is not very rewarding. He talks about being an idle king in the very first
line of the ballad, so the reader knows immediately how mundane life as a king is for Ulysses. He
continues to say, I mete and dole / Unequal laws to a savage race (3 4), this line expresses how
hopeless Ulysses feels when it comes to his duties as king. Ruling over his kingdom is not important
to Ulysses because he feels like being a good ruler is impossible. Opposed to how Ulysses speaks of
his life as a king, he sees his life as a traveler as what made him who he truly is saying, I am become a
name / For always roaming with a hungry heart (11 12). Here Ulysses is relating his most basic
identifier, his name, with roaming the world. Ulysses desires to sail beyond the sunset, and the baths /
Of all the western stars, until [he dies] (34 35), this lets the reader know that Ulysses wish is to see the

Whitehaus Condominiums Essay
The appeal of art and the feistiness of the youth have always been two things that would result to a
very vibrant product. We have all been immersed into the idea that if these two would come together,
we can all expect colors, restlessness and sheer mobility. Young people nowadays run the world as
many have entered the realm of working at an early age, and no one s complaining about how they
perform their respective jobs. It is also a fact that younger people are utterly creative, and every idea
that s spawned from their minds is definitely worthy of attention. The youth and the arts are included
in the checklist of priorities that the Whitehaus Condominiums will fulfill in the coming years, and
everyone will certainly adore the outcome. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Future clients will be entitled to a residential unit that is connected to the outside world just by
peeking out the window. The vibe and hype of Yonge and Eglingon will be best experienced here,
without compromising a functional home to go to by the end of each day. As for the technical stuff,
this much awaited project will have over 29 levels and shelter a total of 366 units. Aside from the
residential spaces offered to clients, the Whitehaus Condominiums will also be home to affluent retail
brands and outlet stores, removing the need for future residents to tire themselves from a day at the
mall. The mixed use contemporary design and architectural proficiency will come from the project s
main contact, which is the famed Diamond Schmitt Architects. Many real estate experts have
commended the risky move involved in the completion of Whitehaus Condominiums since it would

The Rocky Horror Show
Many people attend the theatre to take a break from their lives and get taken away to a fantastic land
where anything is possible. Many people want to leave the theatre happy with themselves and the state
of the world. However, The Rocky Horror Show is not for those people. The Rocky Horror Show
grabs its audience, turns them on their head, spins them around, and then straightens them back out
again. With dedicated acting, out of this world costumes, and simple sets, The Rocky Horror Show
forces the audience to open their minds to new experiences, and let themselves get a little freaky in the
process. A large part of the magic of Rocky Horror is its unconventional history. It was written by

completely understood by her costumes. She started the show with a prim and proper baby pink A line
dress and white shoes, followed by a simple lab coat. This costume changed timed with her change in
attitude towards her sexuality, and when Janet appears at the end, she is wearing a red and black corset
with stockings and high heels. She has embraced the woman inside her. The themes of the show are

legs. But at the end, when he reveals the stockings and high heels underneath the blanket, the audience
realizes that everything and everyone is not as they seem (The Rocky Horror

Machines are beneficial to the degree that they eliminate the need for labor, harmful to the degree that
they eliminate the need for skill.
In this quote, W. H. Auden speaks about the not so distant future or possibly even current life. Auden,
a renowned poet who was the chancellor of the Academy of American Poets for 19 years. The
revolution of people to machines has changed production and assembly lines and work environments

Rise of the Gaming Industry
Video game consoles are found in the family room of every American household and yet nobody has
given a thought about what the gaming industry has gone through to get to where it is today. The game
industry has a history going back for over fifty years. America had a major video game crash during
the year 1983 leading to Japan becoming the biggest force in the industry with the Nintendo
Entertainment System. Sony and Microsoft entered the console market beginning the modern console
race. Video games can also be a potential tool for teaching history since some take place in a historical
setting. Journalism took a new direction when video games became more prominent as the ... Show

The significance of the US military funding was also pertinent in the conception of the video game as
domestic technology. The defense company Sanders Electronics was responsible for developing the
first game technology for the television in 1972 with the Magnavox Odyssey which featured twelve
games including what would be adapted by Atari into Pong in 1975. In 1976 gaming consoles began
having microprocessors that allowed them to be programed thus hardware and software became
separable meaning that video games can be collected and bought. In 1979 Atari released its success
story Space Invaders. The early 1980s saw the game industry going from strength to strength with
many consoles from Sega, Nintendo, Atari, Sony, and Microsoft. This era was known as the golden
age of arcade games. (Games and Gaming: An Introduction to New Media page twenty). However this
golden age would be short lived when there was a major recession that came to be known as the North
American video game crash of 1983.
The gaming industry hit a massive recession in the year 1983 which is now known as the video game
crash of 83 during which many American game companies such as Atari went bankrupt. Atari is the
most famous with this incident because some of their releases coincided with this crash, The second
generation was marked by one of the defining periods in gaming history being the North American

Meaning Of The Poem Ozymandias
Lines 1 2
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said...
The poem begins immediately with an encounter between the speaker and a traveler that comes from
an antique land. We re not sure about this traveler. He could be a native of this antique land, or just a
tourist returning from his latest trip. We don t know where this encounter is taking place; is it on the
highway? On a road somewhere? In London? Maybe if we keep reading we ll find out. Antique means
something really old, like that couch at your grandmother s or the bunny ears on top of your
television. The traveler could be coming from a place that is ancient, almost as if he were time
traveling. Or he could just be coming from a place that has an older history, ... Show more content on

It is Ozymandias, the figure named in the title. Ozymandias was one of several Greek names for
Ramses II of Egypt. For more, see What s Up with the Title. The inscription suggests that Ozymandias
is arrogant, or at least that he has grand ideas about his own power: he calls himself the king of kings.
Ozymandias also brags about his works. Maybe he s referring to the famous temples he constructed at
Abu Simbel or Thebes. He could also be calling attention to the numerous colossal statues of him,
such as the one described in this poem. Ozymandias s speech is ambiguous here. On the one hand he
tells the mighty to despair because their achievements will never equal his works. On the other hand,
he might be telling the mighty to despair as a kind of warning, saying something like Don t get your
hopes up guys because your statues, works, political regimes, etc. will eventually be destroyed or fade
away, with nothing to recall them but a dilapidated statue half buried in the sand.

The Great Gatsby Language Analysis
Music is a language, it depicts a feeling in ways words cannot. And the articulate message of music
illuminates the wonderful reality of the present. I define myself as an observer in a world with many
happenings. I see who people are and I describe them through my music. I will reiterate the power
music has, not only does it portray feelings but produces a message. Here in the Roaring Twenties
mass culture is the way of the world, my music gives me a voice that I hope to use to instigate change.
I recall the day Jay Gatsby approached me as if it was just seconds ago. I was still unknown, earning
my money as a song plugger in Tin Pan Alley. Days went by and everything was as usual until the day

Theme Of Me And My Sister
In most cases, innocence is linked to purity or the fact of being innocent from an offence. Me and My
Sister was written by Alifa Rifaat, who was an Egyptian writer. The Shame was also written by an
Egyptian writer, Yusuf Idris. The common theme of the two short stories is loss of innocence. These
two stories revolve around two young female characters that have experienced a loss of innocence.
The author conveys this theme in Me and My Sister by using diction and point of view. The author
conveys this theme in The Shame by using imagery and metaphor. The author conveys the theme in
Me and My Sister by using diction. Diction is a style of writing that is formed by the choice of words

the house rushed to hold him back, in vain (Idris 65). She became traumatized, due to the violent
actions her brother inflicted on her. It also caused her to resent and lose her innocence. Another
example would be, And she would shake herself free of his grip and stand in the corner of the room
rearranging her hair, with her lovely eyes looking straight at him defiant, unflinching and unabashed

Rhetorical Analysis Of Malcolm X s Homemade Education

prison. As well as being physically locked within a jail cell, Malcolm X felt captured mentally as well.
Malcolm X was unable to recieve the proper education to ro allow him to be able to write letters to the
outside world, prior to his life in prison, as he says, ...trying to write simple English, I not only wasn t
articulate, I wasn t functional (page 225). This powerful, moving quote of his essay explains just how
he felt and from this branches the uses of claims, pathos, logos, and ethos. Malcolm X was talking
about how he always mirrored another prisoner named Bimbi, he tried to be like Bimbi and the way he
took control of the conversation. However, Malcolm couldn t keep up because he was not on the same
level as Bimbi. In Harlem, he was considered to be well spoken when talking to people they gave
feedback they were listening, but when he was talking he used slang words that few would understand

A Research Assignment For Mcdonald s S
Research assignment for McDonald s
Introduction
Why we chose McDonald s
Out of three major business enterprises, the best info that we found was on McDonald s. For that
reason, we decided to focus on McDonald s for this assignment. We did some preliminary research
and came up with some main issues that are pertinent to this business enterprise.
Main issues pertinent to McDonald s
Mc Spotlight (2015) had launched a campaign asking what is wrong with McDonald s. Four of the
main issues stated by the campaign were the promotion of unhealthy food, the exploitation of workers,
an outbreak of food poisoning, the environmental damage done by the business enterprise, and many
more.
Promotion of unhealthy food
It is said that the food at McDonald s is promoted as being nutritious, however what is really being
served by McDonald s is junk food foods exceedingly high in sugar, fat and salt, and reasonably low
in fibre and vitamins.
Food Safety
The quality of McDonald s food has often criticized. Being high in sugar, salt and fat, the food is far
from healthy. The business has tried to address this issue by adding healthier food options such as
salads and yogurt to the menu. However, a recent scandal in China, were there are reports of expired
and condemned meat being used and severed to customers has severely tarnished the company s
already poor reputation (The Economist 2015). This event also saw a massive drop in Sales in Asia as
customers reacted to the scandal (Jones

Assisted Suicide Should Be Legal Or Illegal
In 2013, 122 people had prescriptions written out to them to go through euthanasia, while 71 people
actually went through with it and died from the medicine (FIND CITATION). Some people decide not
to use the prescription after rethinking the idea. People have been debating for a long time on whether
or not physician assisted suicide should be legal or illegal. Some say that it is morally wrong to
participate in any kind of suicide, while others say it is wrong to let terminally ill people suffer when
they have absolutely no chance at beating their disease. This is a very important controversy because
people need to know all of their possible options when diagnosed with a terminally ill disease. Patients
are also supposed to make the decision of their care, and they cannot make the right decision if they
cannot have all of the options. Physician assisted suicide ought to be legalized in all states and nations
to allow patients to have control of their terminal illness so they can decide whether or not they want
to suffer for the rest of their short life or end it in a peaceful way. Dr. Jack Kevorkian was known for
helping terminally ill patients commit suicide medically before most people even knew it existed.
Kevorkian became famous in 1990 when Janet Adkins climbed in the back of his van and let
Kevorkian inject a needle into her arm. However, Kevorkian did not inject the medicine in her. Adkins
pushed a button that released the medicine herself. She decided to die

The Political Messages Behind Harrison Bergeron
The Political Messages Behind Harrison Bergeron Kurt Vonnegut s short story Harrison Bergeron
gives the account of a married couple living in the year 2081. At that time, government had
implemented a long list of policies that effectively made everyone equal in every possible way.
Vonnegut s story can be translated to reflect that too much government, or a single powerful ruler, can
be devastating to a population that strives for freedom. In 2081, the government has created the
position of Handicapper General, whose duty is to add handicaps to those who are above average in
any way. While Hazel Bergeron was completely average in mental capacity, her husband, George, was
well above average. To compensate, the Handicapper General had placed a radio in his ear to, keep
people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brain. The idea of treating everyone equal,
regardless of physical or mental abilities, as described within the story, is taking satirical shots at
liberal ideas in government. Once the government has made everyone equal, those who stand out
represent a threat, including the Bergeron s son Harrison, who was too athletic and handsome to be a
part of the general population. He was taken away from his parents, at the age of fourteen, by the
Handicapper General, because he was too exceptional. Too promote the ongoing liberal equality, the
government basically changes into total authoritarian, by eliminating any threat that could lead to

Milleneration And Generation Z And The Post-Millennial...
Millennials are defined to have been born somewhere between the mid to late 80s till the early to mid
90s, whereas Generation Z is characterized to have been born between 1995 till about now. Therein
lies a large area for differences between the two generations. I was born on the tail end of 1999

see online or in mainstream media. I will discuss both generations and then decide where I most see
myself.
Generation Z, the Post Millennial generation take up a decent sized chunk of the US population. They
are also referred to as the iGeneration or Gen Tech. You rarely hear of this generation as they are
usually overshadowed by the previous gen (Millennials). But Gen Z ers are a group all their own.

Story Of An Hour Satire
There is immense power in well written satire: it can make its audience laugh with witticisms rooted
in truths, even make them think differently about any subject, mundane or critical. Bad satire,
however, emphasizes all the wrong parts: it gets its facts wrong, goes off track, and closes its audience
s minds to any new way of thinking it might present. Li Chongyue and Wang Lihua s article would be
bad satire, a bad argument. Chongyue and Lihua s A Caricature of an Ungrateful and Unfaithful Wife
distorts Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour through imaginative exaggeration of character
interaction, emotional ignorance, and its simplification of the characters and the text. Firstly, there is
no evidence in the text of The Story of an Hour to suggest that Louise Mallard has been at all
unfaithful to her husband. One sentence within the article suggests that some readers have sensed an
extramarital affair or an attempted one between Mrs. Mallard and Richards, which, given its inclusion,
the authors appear to agree with (Chongyue and Lihua). However, Richards is mentioned by name in
the text of the short story three times: at the beginning when he confirmed the news of Brently
Mallard s death, toward the end when he awaited Josephine and Louise at the bottom of the staircase,
and when he tries to block Louise from seeing Brently Mallard alive as he walks in the door (Chopin).
He does not even truly interact with Louise: he is described as near her when she learns of

Role Of The Dutch Colonial Rule
In this write up I will argue that despite factors such as different identities, the largely prevalent
separatist conflicts in Indonesia are mainly based on resources. I will attempt to demonstrate that
identity was instrumentalized in the colonial times to gain political and economic control, and that
spilled over to an internal colonialism in Indonesia in contemporary times. This created the foundation
for the Central government to instrumentalize constructed identities to gain economic control over the
resource rich minority islands, which led to violent separatist conflicts throughout the archipelago. To
begin with we can examine the role of the Dutch colonial rule in the Dutch East Indies and how they
laid the foundation for instrumentalist manipulation. With 13,466 islands, 360 ethnic groups and 719
languages the Dutch were extremely aware of the diversity that prevailed in this region (The
Economist, 2014). These various ethnicities and communities lived in peace prior to the Dutch role.
However upon the exit of the Dutch, this peace was shattered. The main purpose of exerting control

the world system as a set of mechanisms, which redistributes surplus value from the periphery to the
core (Barfield, 1997). In the capitalist world system, the West makes up the core , while the regions of

Self-Recognition And Child Development
Child development in general is something most people do not really think of. Even if someone has
children they do not really think about it unless something seems wrong with their child. Ever since
this class I never really thought too much about how we all develop. A lot of things we learned in this
were actually surprising to me but I could only choose one. I chose to look at an experiment on self
recognition because I found it very interesting that the researchers used a mirror to understand how the
infants would react. In the self recognition experiment the researchers put the infants in front of a
mirror and tried putting different things on them to see if they could recognize themselves. Putting a
child in front of a mirror to see if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Child development is not as easy as that. Infants need to see themselves multiple times in the mirror to
develop self recognition. I was surprised with what I learned because it made me start to think about
development in general not only with self recognition. Development is not something that happens
overnight. This study proves it because an infant will not realize themselves the first time they look in
a mirror they will need to get used to the things around them and realize they are looking at the other
objects so the person they are looking at has to be themselves. This is an important study because is an
infant does not have self recognition there could be something wrong with them. All stages of
development are important because the sooner doctors find out their development is behind the sooner
the problem can be fixed so the child will not be behind in their stages of

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Abstract
Abstract NMR is a form of spectroscopy that utilizes external magnetic fields and signals to identify
the chemical structure of organic molecules, creating a gradient image. Through applying an applied
Radio Frequency, the proton is able to flip into higher energy states, and then relax. This process is
recorded by a NMR Spectrometer, and the difference in energy provides it with a certain NMR Signal.
The difference in the magnetic fields of the allows for a gradient image of the area. There are various
types of imaging that are useful for fast imaging or 3D imaging such as Gradient Echo Imaging or
Volume Imaging. Some other applications of the same principles that apply to MRIs mainly relate to
the identification of organic molecules such as Protein Folding and Drug Development. Although MRI
is a relatively safe and harmless process as opposed to other forms of imaging such as X rays, certain
aspects still pose a risk to patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the prevalence of Hydrogen atoms the human body, their NMR signals are what allows for the
identification of the molecule. Although not all protons have a spin, the spin on the hydrogen proton
allows it to have its own magnetic field and NMR signal. A key property is the spin of the proton. The
spin of a proton is expressed in ± k (1/2), where k is a coefficient. During the NMR process, an
external magnetic field is applied on the protons, partially polarizing them. This will cause them to all
align in the same orientation, around the magnetic field direction, as it is the easiest to maintain that
position. This is called the Minimum Magnetic Potential Energy. Its other spin state is its high energy
spin state, where it spins in the opposite direction around the magnetic field. The Magnetic Dipole
Moment defines the spin on a proton and is shown with the

Domestic Violence Against Men By Suzanne Steinmetz
The earliest literature reference to domestic violence against men can be found in the studies of
Suzanne Steinmetz (1977,1978) entitled, The Battered Husband Syndrome. She hypothesizes that the
incidents of husband on wife beatings rivals the incidents of wife perpetrated batterings, and that it
was husband abuse not wife abuse that was underreported form of domestic violence. Steinmetz used
two United States populations, a broadband nonrepresentative group and a random sample in New
Castle, Delaware in the form of police reports and family surveys. The small study found only small
differences in the percent of men and women who resorted to violence in the context of pushing,
shoving, or hitting with hands or an object. This suggested early on that domestic violence is not a one
way street. Husband beating is a serious issue and needs attention due to the fact that it is grossly
underreported. Steinmetz received numerous criticism from her colleagues on this concept. In later
studies, Murray Straus, Richard Gelles, and Suzanne Steinmetz (1980), authors of the book, Behind
Closed Doors: Violence in The American Family, supports Steinmetz s earlier studies in finding that
women acted violently during marital affairs compared to a similar number of men who act violently
in the United States. The study used 2,413 family surveys, finding in majority of them that the level of
violence was a mutual or bilateral activity, with only 27% of cases finding that husbands were the

Theology 121 A
Major Theological Essay on Dreaming and ¬ The Croods
Everyone has a dream, something that he or she wants to do or have, or someone whom he or she
wants to be in the future. That dream is also what made the first modern family witness the unfolding
of a new world. From their cave going out into the wonders of the land, the Croods, with the help of
Guy and his belt, were set on an adventure that changed their way of living and perceiving themselves
and their environment. Amidst the cataclysms that seemed to chase them, they learned to survive in
more meaningful ways and slowly did they know that the world is changing and that they have the
ability to adapt to it and not just hide away from it.
From Guy, who first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A journey of faith is a combination of believing, doing, and trusting. These three distinct dimensions
of doctrines, morals, and worship make faithing, something that the teenage Crood did throughout the
movie, possible. From the beginning, Eep knew that something more wonderful existed beyond their
cave walls, which is the very reason why she hated staying inside and letting herself be contented with
the darkness of what she sarcastically called home sweet home. Even if she has not seen it, she was
confident that it was as beautiful as the sun that she has been looking forward to see each passing day.
This, then, translated into action, as she did what the rest of her family thought was bad: go out of the
cave on her own. She did this not to betray or disregard the safety of the people whom she left there,
but instead, to follow the source of her fascination and take hold of the light she wanted to capture.
When she met Guy and eventually trusted him in the process, her fascination grew into desire to
plunge into the new world, fueled by her belief that she and her family would be free from the cave
and have a greater future ahead of

Toyota s Lean Manufacturing Process
Prior to Toyota s Production System, the company was efficient, yet could not compete with large
American competitors such as General Motors and Ford. Therefore, management realized that if the
company was to be successful not only in Japan, but globally it would need to improve its
manufacturing process. Consequently, the company developed Toyota s lean manufacturing process,
which is still used today. The LMP was used to eliminate waste in the entire production process to
become more responsive to market demand and produce high quality products economically. In order
to provide superior products, Toyota implemented many revolutionary strategies. For example, the
company started, or invented, the Just in Time Manufacturing process. The JIT process, according to
our text, is used to reduce inventory costs by scheduling supplies to arrive just in time to enter the
production process or as inventory stock is depleted (Hill et al., 2015). Toyota used the just in time
system to improve its supply chain management, which drastically decreased costs and increased the
company s production facilities output as compared to its competitors. In addition to JIT, the company
introduced a concept known as Kanban that was included within the new JIT system. The Kanban
system was developed by Ohno and was used to arrange for components and/or assemblies
manufactured at Toyota to be delivered to the assembly floor only when needed, not before (Hill et al.,
2015). Essentially the Kanban

George Orwell s Use Of Language In Animal Farm

Animal Farm but gradually transforms into the bane of their existences which creates a mood of

readers. At the start of the Revolution, Old Major shares his original ideas during his speech. Speaking
to the animals, he concludes, All the habits of Man are evil. And, above all, no animal must never
tyrannise over his own kind. (31) Old Major implies that the worst habit of man is their power hungry
nature, so he declares these vows to separate themselves from mankind. He gives the animals the

I. (Attention Getter) Quote by Zora Neale Hurston about Harlem Renaissance It would be against all
nature for all the Negroes to be either at the bottom, top, or in between. We will go where the internal
drive carries us like everybody else. It is up to the individual.
II. (Relevancy Statement) One of the reasons Zora Neale Hurston is an influential person was because
of her works at the time of the Harlem Renaissance. This quote combines both the reawakening of
creativity and the ambitious push for others to put forth their own creative works.
III. (Credibility Statement) In 1926, Zora and a collection of other young writers including Langston

The Heros Journey In Paul s Case By Willa Cather
The hero s journey is also evident in Paul s Case by Willa Cather. Paul s life is a constant
disappointment to others around him. He gets in trouble at school and at one point, his teachers air
their grievances with him. The narrator describes that, One way or another, he had made all his
teachers, men and women alike conscious of the same feelings of physical aversion (Cather 44). Paul s
teachers believe something is wrong because of his disdain and contempt for learning. Paul s defiance
is a result of his love for his fantasies of the high life . He hates his life at home on Cordelia Street and
he wishes to live the lives of performers; the life with money. In Elizabeth Hick s criticism, she
explains what Paul s case exactly is. His mannerisms at school, from his avoidance of being touched

Amidst the myriad of his depressed thoughts, he bitterly realizes, money was everything, the wall that
stood between all he loathed and wanted . Paul s escapade was fueled by money, lies, and dreams. His
realization of the end leads his adventure to a screeching halt. Paul s moment of truth lies in his final
moments before his death. He comes to terms with the idea of money he cannot escape. Loretta
Wasserman points out, ...this is the epiphanous moment of the story, confirming his vision as authentic
and his fidelity is to is justified (Wasserman 206). Paul s journey is heavily focused on escaping
Cordelia Street, and Paul s ultimate mistake was realizing he couldn t escape to Adriatic water or

and the only way he could ever get what he wanted is by lying and deceiving. This elemental

My Fathers Prostitute By Steven Whitacre
Steven Whitacre experienced a very traumatic childhood of abuse from his father which led to a very
difficult adulthood. In his book My Fathers Prostitute , he talks about his life, starting out when his
father first abused him to more recent times in adulthood to where he finally sought help and started to
move on in his life started to live the life he should and deserves. This book really opened my eyes on
what all goes on in this world that I would have never guessed. Every eight minutes, a child is
sexually assaulted in the U.S., and 93% know the perpetrator ( Adult Survivors of Childhood ). To me
this statistic seems insane and I cannot ever imagine being sexually assaulted by anyone let alone one
of my parents that I am supposed to trust and love. When you really think about it, that how every
eight minutes a child is getting sexually assaulted it is astonishing. It makes me wonder how many
people I know that I have been sexually assaulted but don t tell anyone. I assume there are many
different cases of sexual assault and how there are different levels of how traumatic they are to the
individual someone came upon. With some people, the sexual assault only happened once, and with
others like the author of My Fathers Prostitute it happens during their entire childhood to impact the
individual even more. I am not saying that the individuals who have only been sexually assaulted once
came out un hurt or traumatized, but I would just imagine that it would not leave

Comparison of Ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian Art
The artworks of Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt are both strikingly different and similar at
the same time. Consistent is the theme of serving the different gods the two cultures believed in. In
Mesopotamia the various city states each had their own protective deity, and in Egypt they sometimes
differed from one dynasty to the next. Whatever the case, with the beginning of kingdoms and
rulership came the need to justify a position of power and establish a hierarchy. And as more time
passed came also the human need to leave an impression on their world. Looking at the example of the
statues of Gudea from the Neo Sumerian period and the Temple of Ramses II from the New Kingdom
of Egypt in the 19th dynasty, will show how both rulers of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Guarding the entrance to the 100 feet tall temple are four enormous statues of the Pharaoh, who ruled
for roughly 66 years during the 19th dynasty. Each statue stands 67 feet high and depicts Ramses
seated on his throne, wearing the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. Adorning the sides of the
thrones is the symbolic unification of Egypt by the Nile Gods. The whole upper body of one of the
figures is destroyed, damaged by an ancient earthquake. You can still see the remains of the torso and

Prince Amonherkhepshef, stand at his sides, almost as high as his knees, and smaller statues between
his legs are thought to represent either his daughters or lesser wives. The frieze topping the temple

The Food Security Is Defined By The World Health...
Food security is defined as when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe, nutritious food
to maintain a healthy and active life (The World Food Summit 1996, quoted by The World Health
Organization 2015). Thus food insecurity is any situation that deviates from this definition. The
research for this report was carried out in Todmorden, West Yorkshire and focused on Incredible
Edible, a local food growing and campaigning group. The organisation is run by volunteers, and their
aim is to provide access to good local food for all (Incredible Edible Todmorden 2015). This is done
mainly through their food to share (also know as eating the street ) initiative, where they have adopted
small, communal areas of land through out Todmorden to grow herbs, fruit and vegetables which is
managed and grown by volunteers and is free for anyone to pick. They also focus on education about
the issues surrounding food insecurity in the UK and the local area. The key stakeholders involved in
our research are Mary Clear and Estelle Brown, the leading figures in Incredible Edible. Mary is a co
founder of the project. From it s beginning in Todmorden the movement has now expanded worldwide

An Autosomal Dominant Disorder
Recurrent epistaxis is one of the diagnostic criteria for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT).
HHT is an autosomal dominant disorder that is also depicted by skin and mucosal telangiectasias.
Feared complications of HHT include rupture of pulmonary or cerebral arteriovenous malformations
(AVM). The etiology of HHT is most often due to genetic mutations that impair normal angiogenesis.
We report a case of suspected HHT in a 49 year old female, with a first degree relative with HHT, and
a history of recurrent epistaxis status post coiling of left and right internal maxillary arteries. Of
special note, her initial hemoglobin level was 1.7, but she was alert and walking at triage. Her
presentation was consistent with multiple prior admissions in the past three years. Patients with
suspected hereditary telangiectasia should receive a comprehensive work up, including serum studies,
imaging, and possibly genetic testing. Treatment should focus on both acute management of the bleed
and prevention of future complications.
Introduction:
Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia, or Osler Weber Rendu syndrome, is an autosomal dominant
disorder characterized by recurrent epistaxis and small arteriovenous malformations known as
telangiectasias . Telangiectasias can rupture with minimal or no trauma, and resultant bleeds can be
difficult to manage. The epistaxis can lead to chronic anemia in a small set of afflicted patients. The

they seem the first appearance) This statement is an ever present motif in William Shakespeare s 1606
play, King Lear. It is a work filled with deceit, disguises, and the modifications of circumstances. The
characters in the play did not understand how their story was going to end, and still the original
spectators, the Elizabethans, certainly did. This is due to Shakespeare s implication of the set of beliefs
held by the people of 17th century England, referred to as Elizabethan Cosmology. An element of this
belief system is the Great Chain Of Being, which determines of the importance of everything in the
universe. Another is the Wheel Of Fortune, which, depending on one s position on the wheel, controls
the amount fortune one achieves in life. Finally, there is Christianity, which through its creed, dictated
who was good and who was evil. And through these parts of Elizabethan doctrine, the King Lear
reflects the notion that the way a situation may seem is not always its reality, and therefore one must
always be cautious.
The main guideline of the Great Chain Of Being is that everything has its place in the hierarchy of
life. God is at the highest link in all of existence, but the king is at the highest link of humanity, and
so, he is the closest human to God. Lear, being king, is

A Brief Argument Of Evolutionary Psychology By Putting...
Social constructionism counters this argument of evolutionary psychology by putting emphasis on
environment and nurture. Constructionism focuses on how meaning is created hence when we use the
term socially constructed we are referring to how society and culture create gender roles which are in
turn prescribed as normal and appropriate behavior expected from a person of that particular gender.
More radical versions of the social constructionist theory go as far as to argue that the behavioral
differences that exist between men and women are entirely social conventions free of any biological or
evolutional influence. Other versions of the theory also claim that there are multiple genders aside

As we have seen gender stereotypes and the subsequent gender roles which they encourage can often
serve a good purpose but they do become problematic when the lines are blurred and we can no longer
distinguish between nature and nurture. There is a network of researchers who have proposed that
stereotypes are indeed grounded on truth and these are not just empty claims as there is also a wealth
of research to support this. Throughout this paper we shall take a look at this research and examine its
authenticity in order to determine what truth if any lies in stereotypes. Similarly, many people use

The Wright brothers had discovered something new, flying. From what flying is today to what is was
in 1903 if they would not of discovered what they had who knows if we would have planes today. In
1903 steam engines were about the only way around. Cars were not quite around yet so the thought of

Wilbur Wright was born on April 16, 1867, near Millville, Indiana, the middle child in a family of five
children. His father, Milton Wright, was a bishop in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. His

Celebratory Transition
The celebratory feast began with a welcoming of the newly appointed Husband and Wife and they
took their place at the long table at the front with the rest of the bridal party. The guests were seated
and speeches were given by father of the groom, best man, sister of the bride and her father before the
first dance occurs. The groom led the bride to the dancefloor, after her attendants bustled her train to
the back of her dress, while the guests gathered around to witness the dance. The bride and groom
began the dance together while the attendants danced with the groomsmen. After the dance the bride
and groom cut the cake and the guests began to give small envelopes with gifts to the bride to place
inside her silk bag whilst the party continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rites of passage according to Arnold Van Gennep (1960) are experiences of transition that represent
growth in life which can be divided into; rites of separation, in which the individual is divorced from
their familiar environment, rites of transition, in which the old identity is destroyed and a temporary
one created, and the rites of aggregation where the individual is reintegrated into society in their new
role. The 2016 wedding can be understood as a rite of separation where the bride and groom give up
their single identity upon engagement, another example can be seen where the bride is given away by
the father of the bride, shedding one family identity for another. The rite of transition can be seen
where they are stripped of their single identity upon engagement and placed in a liminal state with
identities of Bride and Groom until the conclusion of the transition (Turner, 1987). Finally, the rite of
aggregation can be observed as the two individuals are presented with their new identities and re enter
society as Husband and Wife via ring and vow exchange, announcement to the guests, signing of
marriage certificate, and celebrations by friends and

Tennyson presents this paradox, between traditional acceptance of life and a progressive need for enhancement, in his poems Ulysses and The Lady of Shalott . Both of these poems express a want for self revolution while each protagonist has duties and societal expectations that are holding them back. Tennyson uses experience, gender, and identity in Ulysses and The Lady of Shalott to explore the idea of personal revolution. Ulysses wish for change is greatly fueled by his past experiences. Ulysses states I am a part of all that I have met (18), showing the reader he feels a strong connection to experiences of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ulysses feels his job as a king is not very rewarding. He talks about being an idle king in the very first line of the ballad, so the reader knows immediately how mundane life as a king is for Ulysses. He continues to say, I mete and dole / Unequal laws to a savage race (3 4), this line expresses how hopeless Ulysses feels when it comes to his duties as king. Ruling over his kingdom is not important to Ulysses because he feels like being a good ruler is impossible. Opposed to how Ulysses speaks of his life as a king, he sees his life as a traveler as what made him who he truly is saying, I am become a name / For always roaming with a hungry heart (11 12). Here Ulysses is relating his most basic identifier, his name, with roaming the world. Ulysses desires to sail beyond the sunset, and the baths / Of all the western stars, until [he dies] (34 35), this lets the reader know that Ulysses wish is to see the world. Self transformation is important to Ulysses so that his life will match how he identifies himself as an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At that time, government had implemented a long list of policies that effectively made everyone equal in every possible way. Vonnegut s story can be translated to reflect that too much government, or a single powerful ruler, can be devastating to a population that strives for freedom. Story Of An Hour Satire There is immense power in well written satire: it can make its audience laugh with witticisms rooted in truths, even make them think differently about any subject, mundane or critical. • 21. Role Of The Dutch Colonial Rule In this write up I will argue that despite factors such as different identities, the largely prevalent separatist conflicts in Indonesia are mainly based on resources. I will attempt to demonstrate that identity was instrumentalized in the colonial times to gain political and economic control, and that spilled over to an internal colonialism in Indonesia in contemporary times. This created the foundation for the Central government to instrumentalize constructed identities to gain economic control over the resource rich minority islands, which led to violent separatist conflicts throughout the archipelago. To begin with we can examine the role of the Dutch colonial rule in the Dutch East Indies and how they laid the foundation for instrumentalist manipulation. With 13,466 islands, 360 ethnic groups and 719 languages the Dutch were extremely aware of the diversity that prevailed in this region (The Economist, 2014). These various ethnicities and communities lived in peace prior to the Dutch role. However upon the exit of the Dutch, this peace was shattered. The main purpose of exerting control over Indonesia can best be explained by Immanuel Wallersteins world systems theory. It characterizes the world system as a set of mechanisms, which redistributes surplus value from the periphery to the core (Barfield, 1997). In the capitalist world system, the West makes up the core , while the regions of Aceh and West Papua make up the periphery . In these regions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Magnetic Resonance Imaging Abstract Abstract NMR is a form of spectroscopy that utilizes external magnetic fields and signals to identify the chemical structure of organic molecules, creating a gradient image. Through applying an applied Radio Frequency, the proton is able to flip into higher energy states, and then relax. This process is recorded by a NMR Spectrometer, and the difference in energy provides it with a certain NMR Signal. The difference in the magnetic fields of the allows for a gradient image of the area. There are various types of imaging that are useful for fast imaging or 3D imaging such as Gradient Echo Imaging or Volume Imaging. The spin of a proton is expressed in ± k (1/2), where k is a coefficient. During the NMR process, an external magnetic field is applied on the protons, partially polarizing them. • 24. Domestic Violence Against Men By Suzanne Steinmetz The earliest literature reference to domestic violence against men can be found in the studies of Suzanne Steinmetz (1977,1978) entitled, The Battered Husband Syndrome. She hypothesizes that the incidents of husband on wife beatings rivals the incidents of wife perpetrated batterings, and that it was husband abuse not wife abuse that was underreported form of domestic violence. Steinmetz used two United States populations, a broadband nonrepresentative group and a random sample in New Castle, Delaware in the form of police reports and family surveys. The small study found only small differences in the percent of men and women who resorted to violence in the context of pushing, shoving, or hitting with hands or an object. This suggested early on that domestic violence is not a one way street. Husband beating is a serious issue and needs attention due to the fact that it is grossly underreported. Steinmetz received numerous criticism from her colleagues on this concept. In later studies, Murray Straus, Richard Gelles, and Suzanne Steinmetz (1980), authors of the book, Behind Closed Doors: Violence in The American Family, supports Steinmetz s earlier studies in finding that women acted violently during marital affairs compared to a similar number of men who act violently in the United States. What Is The Theme Of The Croods 141287 Theology 121 A Major Theological Essay on Dreaming and ¬ The Croods Everyone has a dream, something that he or she wants to do or have, or someone whom he or she wants to be in the future. That dream is also what made the first modern family witness the unfolding of a new world. From their cave going out into the wonders of the land, the Croods, with the help of Guy and his belt, were set on an adventure that changed their way of living and perceiving themselves and their environment. Amidst the cataclysms that seemed to chase them, they learned to survive in more meaningful ways and slowly did they know that the world is changing and that they have the ability to adapt to it and not just hide away from it. These three distinct dimensions of doctrines, morals, and worship make faithing, something that the teenage Crood did throughout the movie, possible. From the beginning, Eep knew that something more wonderful existed beyond their cave walls, which is the very reason why she hated staying inside and letting herself be contented with the darkness of what she sarcastically called home sweet home. Even if she has not seen it, she was confident that it was as beautiful as the sun that she has been looking forward to see each passing day. This, then, translated into action, as she did what the rest of her family thought was bad: go out of the cave on her own. She did this not to betray or disregard the safety of the people whom she left there, but instead, to follow the source of her fascination and take hold of the light she wanted to capture. When she met Guy and eventually trusted him in the process, her fascination grew into desire to plunge into the new world, fueled by her belief that she and her family would be free from the cave and have a greater future ahead of ... Therefore, management realized that if the company was to be successful not only in Japan, but globally it would need to improve its manufacturing process. Consequently, the company developed Toyota s lean manufacturing process, which is still used today. The LMP was used to eliminate waste in the entire production process to become more responsive to market demand and produce high quality products economically. In order to provide superior products, Toyota implemented many revolutionary strategies. For example, the company started, or invented, the Just in Time Manufacturing process. The JIT process, according to our text, is used to reduce inventory costs by scheduling supplies to arrive just in time to enter the production process or as inventory stock is depleted (Hill et al., 2015). Toyota used the just in time system to improve its supply chain management, which drastically decreased costs and increased the company s production facilities output as compared to its competitors. In addition to JIT, the company introduced a concept known as Kanban that was included within the new JIT system. The Kanban system was developed by Ohno and was used to arrange for components and/or assemblies manufactured at Toyota to be delivered to the assembly floor only when needed, not before (Hill et al., 2015). In his book My Fathers Prostitute , he talks about his life, starting out when his father first abused him to more recent times in adulthood to where he finally sought help and started to move on in his life started to live the life he should and deserves. This book really opened my eyes on what all goes on in this world that I would have never guessed. Every eight minutes, a child is sexually assaulted in the U.S., and 93% know the perpetrator ( Adult Survivors of Childhood ). To me this statistic seems insane and I cannot ever imagine being sexually assaulted by anyone let alone one of my parents that I am supposed to trust and love. When you really think about it, that how every eight minutes a child is getting sexually assaulted it is astonishing. It makes me wonder how many people I know that I have been sexually assaulted but don t tell anyone. I assume there are many different cases of sexual assault and how there are different levels of how traumatic they are to the individual someone came upon. With some people, the sexual assault only happened once, and with others like the author of My Fathers Prostitute it happens during their entire childhood to impact the individual even more. It is a work filled with deceit, disguises, and the modifications of circumstances. The characters in the play did not understand how their story was going to end, and still the original spectators, the Elizabethans, certainly did. An element of this belief system is the Great Chain Of Being, which determines of the importance of everything in the universe. Another is the Wheel Of Fortune, which, depending on one s position on the wheel, controls the amount fortune one achieves in life. Finally, there is Christianity, which through its creed, dictated who was good and who was evil.
