Biography Of Garson Kanin And David Crane And Hands On A...
This past week, I had the opportunity to experience a magnificent play called Born Yesterday by Garson Kanin. This performance was
the third of three plays I saw at the Arizona Repertory Theatre. The other two plays were Epic Proportions by Larry Coen and David
Crane and Hands on a Hardbody by Doug Wright. These were the first plays I have been to, not only while attending the University of
Arizona, but in my generation as a teenager. All together, these performances were amazing and have brought a newly improved
insight to my perception of theatre. The hard work and dedication by the actors, directors, producers, cast members, and sound
developers were absolutely incredible and I have tremendous respect for their efforts during the overall sequence of producing the
plays. The most recent performance I saw, Born Yesterday, can be described and reflected on through various topics such as lighting,
sound, directing and producing.
I decided to arrive a half hour early to witness all the elements of the stage, audience, and theater in order to truly express my thoughts
on the external features of the play. The Marroney theatre has 332 seats which were designed like movie theatre chairs. They were
manufactured to be a bold red with black carpet surrounding the floor to cover the entire theatre space. For the first thirty minutes
before Born Yesterday started, the theatre played classical music to soothe the ears of the audience and create a bridge to a rather quiet
prolonged

The Motif of Ernest Hemingway´s A Farewell to Arms
The world contains many recurring events that remind humans of morals or things that are important. In the novel A Farewell to Arms
many events come again and again. Usually, these events that repeat or come again have a deeper message inscribed in the text. This
is not unlike whereas the novel The Great Gatsby has weather that unfailingly matches up with the tone and mood of the text. The
author Ernest Hemingway has created A Farewell to Arms with a motif that is very precise. The motif of rain and nature in
Hemingway s novel divulges that there are things that a human beings cannot control; making them recognize what they lack and how
life can bring sadness.
The constant appearance of rain allows for sadness to be foreshadowed; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rain which is death the leaves which represent life, fell and rotted. Rain is a spontaneous thing and is not scheduled, planned and
is not in our power. Nature has a mind of its own and for humans or the people in the war to have that power are supernatural which
one cannot have that kind of power. Also, humans are not capable of controlling life itself. If that were to happen in this world, there
would be chaos in power and no one would be able to die peacefully and obtain that beauty of dying a heroic death. Life cannot be
controlled and some people see death as a beauty for it takes humanity to God. But in life, there are many things that have been with
us but when we realize that it is gone, we are burdened with our own sadness.
Ronald Oliver, a director said that Women don t know what they want. Men never know what they have. The rain in the novel alters
the characters mind to remind them of what they do not have. The rain brings this quote into thought about what Henry sees and feels.
You knew it rained down that rained...my sweet love Catherine down might rain... (Hemingway, 197). When he says this, he s looking
at the rain and wishes that he could be in her arms and that he too could hold her one more time in his arms. He sees the rain and sees
his pains and wishes deeply that he

Low Income Inequality
The notion of fairness is often the underlying basis in legitimizing the concept of taxing the rich more than low income individuals.
However, the very idea of fairness would assume that one gets paid accordingly to what they produce for society, given their abilities,
yet the current tax system based on margins, opposes this very idea. More specifically, creating higher tax brackets for wealthy people
only creates an absence or lack of incentives for the poor to work because they are funded by such taxes, just as the rich are no longer
incentivized to produce more outputs in fear of these higher taxes. This complex system influences the overall economic health of
society and depending on your income, you can benefit or lose to this inequality, whilst both the poor and the rich can exploit ... Show

The very idea that the poor who were given equal opportunities, are making earnings based off someone else s wealth and outputs, is
not just. Opposingly, the prosperous firms hold influential power against the government since they accumulate an abundance of
wealth for the economy, so they hold a certain degree of power in manipulating their own tax dollars towards innovative services that
side or benefit them, in which democracy is now threatened. Similarly, shareholders are less incentivized to invest in wealthy firms
because they ll get high returns which is followed by high taxes. This renders a situation of providing the poor with decreasing sums
of money made by the rich because they lack incentives to produce more wealth as they also receive less investment for such outputs.
Likewise, the consumer base for these firms are also declining because the poor are incentivized to remain

Did Frank Morris And The Anglin Brothers Survive To Escape...
I believe that criminals, Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers, survived their attempted escape from Alcatraz. There are many facts
supporting that they died, for example, the man eating sharks that live in the ocean surrounding the prison. However, it s been proven
that there are no man eating sharks in the waters. In 1934, a teenage girl, 2 ten year old kids, and fitness expert, Jack Lalanne, swam
from Alcatraz to the mainland. Although there is the possibility of hypothermia and drowning in the conditions they were in.This
proves that the swim wouldn t be too life threatening, especially if you have a functional raft. Many believe that the raincoat raft that
was built was unsuccessful, sending the escapees into the freezing water and dying

Nobel Laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez a Champion for Latin...
The works of the late 1982 Columbian literary Nobel Laureate Gabriel Garica Marquez reflect not only the sentiments of postcolonial
Columbians, but also the surreal realities lived by Latin Americans in the New World. This surreal reality is what Marquez has
become synonymous with magic realism. The literary genre, magic realism, can be found in Marquez s books and short stories such as
100 Years of Solitude and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings . Literary critics and audience alike have marveled at how Marquez
masterfully connected the ethereal and the mundane with such precision in diction and syntax that the narratives seem more than
commonplace but actually feasible and tangible. In Marquez s Nobel Prize Lecture, he champions the ... Show more content on

Foremost, in the early 1980s, Latin America was still in need of assistance and they were fighting for survival economically amid a
massive economic depression. After the occupation of power by militant dictators in the mid 20th century, most Spanish speaking
countries, particularly Cuba like Columbia, experienced economic hardship both from internal and external powers. Additionally, the
passage contends the concept that Latin America is in a state of solitude, in which leads to a form of solidarity amongst the Latin
American community. Furthermore, he also argues that whites figuratively use the yard stick to measure the capabilities of Latin
America. The points of this lecture capitalize on his beliefs and concepts while contending that his work exemplify the experiences of
the Latin American.
Marquez s lecture promulgates Marquez s notion that with solitude came their undefined, mythical culture. In fact, Marquez s
experiences as a child with his grandparents solidify that notion. Marquez s grandmother raised him and in his childhood she told him
fantastical stories; likewise, Marquez s grandfather raised him, too, and told him horrific stories of his experience fighting in the
Thousand Days War. Both accounts inspired Marquez s magic realism and the significance of the stories asserts itself in the Nobel
Laureate s discussion of Latin culture and politics. As Marquez discusses Latin culture in his lecture he affirms his notion of solitude

Crime And Punishment By Fyrodor Doveskey
The Theorized Extraordinary to the Ordinary Romantic
The human race remembers people in history who fought for something they believed in. For example, both Neapolitan Bonaparte and
George Washington killed other people in battle, because they had something that they believed worthy to fight for regardless of the
established and universal law against killing. In Raskolnikov`s words from Crime and Punishment, they were extraordinary men.
These men, according to Raskolnikov, had the right to commit any crime, because they were leading ordinary people into a new and
improved society, without any moral repercussions. In Fyrodor Doveskey`s, Crime and Punishment, his character Raskolnikov`s
argument of the extraordinary man versus the ordinary man, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it becomes clear throughout the novel that he does feel guilty. For example, when Raskolnikov helps Semyon Zakharovich
Marmeladov return to his family after he is ran over, Raskolnikov walks away feeling like he has somewhat atoned for his sins. Also,
proving that Raskolnikov feels guilty for what he did is that, at the end of the novel, Raskolnikov confesses in the street, even though
there was someone charged with the crime already. If, according to Raskolnikov, an extraordinary man, which he believes himself to
be, should feel no guilt, then why does Raskolnikov feel the need to atone for his sins by helping Semyon Zakharovick Marmeladov`s
family and then eventually

Anna Akhmatova Courage
Anna Akhmatova
Courage: Great Russian word, fit for the songs of our children s children, pure on their tongues, and free (Anna Akhmatova). This line
stated by Anna Akhmatova shows that courage was a strong word to the Russian people during that time. Anna was a famous poet in
Russia who wasn t afraid to stand up for herself and her beliefs. For years she fought for rights under Stalin s rule for the rights of
poetry to be free and unrestricted. Anna Akhmatova s captivating poetry expresses the environmental factors of St.Petersburg, her
involvement in the Acmeism movement and to her bad experience(s) under Stalin s rule.
St.Petersburg has been an influence to Anna Akhmatova since she sparked an interest in poetry; starting in her teens. The city was
often used as a thematic role in her poetry, and it gave insight on her home life. Being born into an aristocratic family being a writer
was not the ideal career and is why she had to take a pen name to not shame her family s name. Often she used her beliefs, religious
references and her spiritual beliefs in her poems. Her interest in 19th century prose lead her to follow in the footsteps of famous ...

Apple Scar Skin Viroid Case Study
Apple Scar Skin Viroid (ASSVd), a non protein coding, single stranded, circular RNA pathogen limits the detection based on the
immunoassay. In this study, a visible nanobarcoding assay for one step Reveres transcription loop mediated isothermal amplification
(RT LAMP) was developed to improve the LAMP selectivity and promote its diagnostic use in detecting ASSVd in plants. ASSVd
LAMP was accelerated by the use of loop primers and highly sensitive with a detection limit of 103 copies of ASSVd cDNA per
reaction within 30 min. The real time LAMP and melting curve analysis could differentiate between the true positive LAMP

Thus, they cannot be available for rapid on site detection, because of long time (( 2 h) (5).
In particular, there have been an increased number of reports of viroid infection, which is mostly latent and symptomless in plants and
caused by the smallest RNA. Unlike viruses, viroids are not coated with proteins, thus limiting the detection methods based on the
immunoassay. Diagnosis and discrimination of viroids are challenging, because a large number of nursery stock are introduced
frequently and distributed rapidly among growers. Apple scar skin viroids (ASSVds) in apple cause the plant diseases including scar
skin (reddish brown patches with brownish scar like tissue), cracking, and spotting symptoms. Because of these disease symptoms,
viroid has caused serious economic losses in the apple industry (6, 7).
Loop mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and reverse transcription (RT) LAMP have been used to detect several types of
infectious reagents with high sensitivity, efficiency, and rapidity under isothermal conditions (5, 8, 9). The need for simple, visible,
and rapid detection of LAMP/or RT LAMP amplicons has led to a great variety of end point and real time/on line monitoring for field
applications (10, 11). According to the general principles of LAMP amplification, 4 to 6 primers are designed to react to specific
regions on the target sequences. When appropriate initiating structure

The Monkey Who Is The Central Character Of Wu Cheng
Monkey who is the central character of Wu Cheng is lead on a passage where he comes across a lot of difficulties. While on this
journey, he acquires new friendships, but still faces countless nemeses. He meets different people along the way and all of them strive
to be a true Buddhist, but all lack some of the must have characteristics to be a true Buddhist. I choose to write about this because it
pertains to our everyday lives. We strive to be perfect and strive to have all qualities needed to be a decent person. But the fact of the
matter is that it is simply something we can always strive for but will always need to work on. There is never enough that a person can
do because there is always room for improvement. I relate this life matter to the story because even if one thinks they have all the
characteristics to be anything there is always something that can be improved on no matter how perfect you portray yourself to be. I
will portray the characters on what they are faced with and what each of them represents. They all have common assets that are a part
of human nature, but none has all of what it takes to be a true Buddhist.
. Tripitaka represents what I call an everyday man, a man that represents the basics of what human nature entails. He has
characteristics that an everyday man holds. Attractive and fervent Buddhist monk, he is often portrayed as the weaker link. Tripitaka is
frequently dominated by his flamboyant acquaintances, particularly by monkey, who usually

Differences Between Mirror Gazing, Gender, And Self...
Abstract Gender differences in mirror gazing were studied at Montclair State University. The purpose of the study was to determine
whether females were more likely to look in the mirror than males. Females and males were observed at two locations on campus
where reflective surfaces were available. Students recorded whether or not a female or male looked at his/her reflection at the
reflective surface. The results of the study revealed that there were more females than males who had looked at their reflection.
Females are more likely to have self esteem issues and it is possible that these findings are because of this distinction. Excessive

An individual with high body dissatisfaction might obsessively look into the mirror to focus on his/her imperfections that need to be
improved or changed. Self esteem also plays a role in body perception. The way we view ourselves affects the way we feel about
ourselves. Individuals with high self esteem often have a positive body perception (Wasylkiw, MacKinnon, MacLellan, 2012). In our
society, thin bodies are ideal for women and muscular bodies are considered ideal for men. These ideal body images may be difficult
to obtain and therefore men and women may begin to feel negatively about themselves. A study was conducted in 2011 that examined
body size perception in students at Pennsylvania State University. Students who did not perceive themselves as having their ideal
body image, reported having lower self esteem and feelings of shame. Females reported that they needed to be thinner while males
reported needing to be bigger and stronger. Female students were also reported to have higher discrepancies between their ideal body
and their actual body and therefore had lower self esteem. Negative body perception not only caused lower self esteem, but also
ratings of attractiveness (Gillen Lefkowitz, 2011). Issues with self esteem may cause higher rates of mirror gazing because of a greater
focus on flaws in body perception. There also other psychological reasons that can lead an individual to

The year was 1944, and the United States had now been an active participant in the war against Nazi Germany for almost three and a

Amongst the many invasions of World War II, there is one day which stands out more in the minds of many American soldiers than
the others. That day was June 6, 1944, more commonly known as D Day, part of the invasion of Normandy, known as Operation

Arthur Dimmesdale and John Proctor s Guilt and Sin Essay
Arthur Dimmesdale and John Proctor s Guilt and Sin
Guilt is something that weighs heavily on the human soul. It incorporates itself in our dreams, our thoughts, and our actions.
Everywhere we turn, it stares us blankly in the face. While it is unbearable to suffer, guilt is an emotion that reaffirms our humanity.
Repentance of a particular guilt, being spiritual, physical or both, is evidence that we are beyond the baseness of our animal
tendencies.
This fact has not gone unnoticed to the many great figures of literature. They have explored the sentiments of guilt and repentance by
exploiting the conscience of flawed characters. In The Scarlet
Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne presented to the world Reverend Arthur

However, this penance was not enough. The only way he could truly out the pestilence that had been eating away his soul was to
publicly proclaim his guilt. To him, nothing short of a total change of dynasty and moral code in that interior kingdom was adequate to
account for the impulses now communicated. (Hawthorne
205). When he acknowledged Pearl as his own during the Election Day speech, he shone a little light into the darkness of his guilt.
Sadly, even in this moment of revelation, the sin that had become his cross for seven long years finally ended his life. While pain and
shame had been merely earthly penances, death was the final judge.
Unlike Dimmesdale s internal suffering, John Proctor was martyred as a result of vengeance. Abigail Williams, his young lover, used

Eight Two-Centimeter Lab Report
1. Consider eight two cubic centimeter (2 cm3) sugar cubes stacked so that they form a single 2 x 2 x 2 cube. How does the surface
area of the single, large cube compare to the total surface area of the individual eight cubes? Report your answer as a ratio. Be sure to
show all calculations leading to an answer.
surface area of a cube is:
Area = 6 x (a x a), length of one edge of the cube, a = 2cm, surface area of a single cube =
6 x (2 x 2) = 6 x 4 = 24cm squared. total surface area of 8 individual cubes = 8 * 24 = 192cm squared
Edge length of large cube = 4cm surface area of large cube =
6 x (4 x 4) = 6 x 16 = 96cm squared as a ratio large cube : total of eight cubes 96 : 192 1 : 2

Substance Abuse Problem
Statement of the Problem
The Topic
In 2013, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (2014), approximately 8.2 percent of the
United States population age 12 years or older, 21.6 million persons, were classified with substance abuse or dependence. Longer
patient treatment stays benefits patients and society; however, against medical advice rates for substance abuse treatment facilities are
high despite the association between positive outcomes and treatment for substance users (Kosanke, 2000). The change of behaviors
exhibited by substance users is essential and key for positive treatment outcomes (Mallows, 2014). The lack of substance abusers

Analysis Of Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Battle Of...
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born on March 6, 1806, at Coxhoe Hall, Durham, England, daughter Mary Graham and Edward
Moulton Barrett. They made their wealth from a Jamaican sugar plantation. Elizabeth was the oldest of eleven siblings. She was
educated at home which leads her to write at a very young age. By the age of fourteen her very first book was published, The Battle of
Marathon, which her father released privately. Browning had many of her works published but in eighteen forty four her collection
titled Poems was published. These poems caught the attention of English poet Robert Browning. Robert wrote to Elizabeth a letter,
they both exchanged numerous letters over the following months, this lead to their elopement in eighteen forty six. On eighteen fifty,
she released Sonnets from the Portuguese, it is a collection of forty four love sonnets that became one of the greatest sequences of
sonnets in history. The collection was dedicated to her loving husband and was also written in secret during their courtship. Aurora
Leigh was published in eighteen fifty six, this was her longest work, this was a blank verse novel and poem. Elizabeth Barrett
Browning died on June twenty nine, eighteen sixty one in Florence at the age of fifty five. This essay will reveal the theme of
feminism through the exploration of key forms of Browning, which include: the inner battle resulting from the conflict to choose

The Other Side Of The River By Alex Kotlowitz
Tiefenbach 1
Benjamin Tiefenbach
Professor Ned Watts
IAH 207
17 March 2015
Twin Cities, Twin Races Reading the book, The Other Side of the River, by Alex Kotlowitz, the author writes about the relationship
between two towns in Michigan, and the death of a young boy named Eric McGinnis. The two towns, Benton Harbor and St. Joseph,
are called the Twin Cities , but are ironically not related in any way. St. Joseph is 95 percent white, while Benton Harbor is
impoverished and is 92 percent black. Throughout the book Kotlowitz questions the residents from both towns and how they are
affected by the environment around them. The author also starts with the climax on the first page of the book the death of Eric, and
uses this as an technique to tell the story of the disagreements between the two towns. With the murder of Eric, Kotlowitz identifies
the climax at the beginning of the book and how it has been affecting the two towns which are physically only two and a half miles
apart, and the river that flows between them only being a quarter of a mile wide. St. Joseph is a rich area while Benton Harbor is in
poverty. This is relevant to the state of Michigan because many bodies of people migrate to certain regions of the state and are easily
divided by different cultures and beliefs. Even with a small river providing the gap between these two regions, Michigan is known for
its divided groups of people. With this division, the death of Eric with his drowning in the river resided

Damn Dams In The United States
Damn Dams The United States has led the world in dam building for the past 100 years. The dams are used for a variety of purposes,
including hydropower, irrigation, flood control, and water storage. Even though dams can be a benefit to society, they can also cause a
lot for harm to the rivers. Dams degraded river ecosystems, depleted fisheries, and diminished the recreational use of nearly all of the
nation s rivers. Many of the dams are unsafe, old or no longer serve their intended purposes.

Life In The Secret Annex Analysis
A world of boredom, fear, frustration, being hidden for over two straight years is hard to imagine anyone would have to go through,
but in the secret annex they were facts of life. These treacherous living conditions were forced upon the Frank family. From July 1942
to August 1944, the Frank and Van Pelt families were in hiding, depending on their protectors and living in constant tension. During
those long two years, the living conditions in the Annex were terrible. LIfe in the Secret Annex was constantly bland, the members of
the Annex drowning in boredom. Constantly the Frank s and the Van Pelt s had to be cautious. They no longer could they go beyond
the door to the rest of the building. On pages 290 and 348, this problem is described. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Constantly during the play the people hiding in the Annex were left in the dark of the news outside of the Annex. This is illustrated on
pages 306 and 307 when Mr. Dussel arrives at the Secret Annex. After Mr. Dussel turned up at the Annex he addressed Mr. Van Pelt
warning of how bad it has become, depicting the situation, saying that Right here in Amsterdam every day hundreds of Jews disappear
. . . Along with being in the dark about events going on beyond the Annex, the Franks, Van Pelts, and Mr. Dussel were constantly on
edge, nervous about being caught. From start to end of the drama whenever a noise came from inside the office or outside on the street
everyone would freeze in silence, overcome with fear that the Nazi s have found them. Anne describes the terror of these moments on
page 291, stating that It s the silence in the nights that frightens me most. Every time I hear a creak in the house, or a step on the street
outside, I m sure they re coming for us. Another key point that emphasizes the fearful living conditions that the people in the Annex
felt was their dependence on their protectors. With so many people having the knowledge of their existence in hiding, it was nerve
racking for the members of the Annex. At any point just one person could let their secret slip or reveal their location on purpose, and

As time progresses and social environments change, the standards of proper moral conscience and mental health begin to change.
Alex, the protagonist of A Clockwork Orange, is a person who by modern ethical standards is a psychopath with no moral

Carson stated in her essay Pronominalization in A Clockwork Orange , the usage of English and Russian origins in Nadsat is peculiar

are necessities while peace and respect are not. This emphasis on these vices through the slang language of Nadsat shows that from
the perspective of A Clockwork Orange s teenage population, the definitions of morality and sanity are deeply rooted in the desires of
the population to cave into their innermost desires, a collection of thoughts known in psychology as the

The Visit by Friedrich Durrenmatt
Friedrich Durrenmatt, like Samuel Beckett, became a prominent writer that wrote about human nature after World War II. The Visit,
for instance, is about an impoverished town that is in need of money. The town realizes on Ill, who is a main character, to call a friend
and ask for a favor, and he does. Claire, Ill s friend, places an ironic twist on the requirement in order to get the money, which is
someone must kill Ill, but by the end of the play someone does kill Ill. In general, the play depicts the idea that it is human nature to
do anything in order to survive. Due to Friedrich Durrenmatt s various techniques when writing the play, the reader gets a town
comparable to Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. Friedrich Durrenmatt s techniques were used to foreshadow the play and to
depict the condition and choices of Germany before and during World War II from a logical view. For example, the black panther,
which is one of the most profound symbols throughout the play, is Claire s pet. She brings it with her to Guellen in a cage. The
panther is the symbolic foreshadow of Ill s life in this play, and Claire refers to Ill several times by the nickname black panther . The
butler proclaims, The black panther escaped, Madam. (58) The black panther escapes around the same time she offers the million
dollar. Like the black panther, Ill is trying to escape Guellen before someone kills him, which is similar to Jews trying to escape
Germany during the 1930s before Hitler s

Ruby Primer
In order to test whether the curry leaf possesses one of the 6 alleles and whether it has a Ruby gene promoter, PCR and gel
electrophoresis was used. Primers, short DNA sequences designed specifically for each allele of the Ruby gene, were used to isolate
the gene and amplify it for PCR. Multiple PCRs were performed, each using a different primer set. Primers attach to specific regions
surrounding the gene and amplify only the region that is flanked. The forward primer is bound to a specific sequence before the Ruby
promoter, found to precede the actual gene sequence, and the reverse primer is bound to the DNA after the gene. In order for visible
bands for gel electrophoresis to be produced, a forward primer must bind to one strand of DNA and a reverse primer must bind to the
strand complementary to the one the forward primer binds to. If both primers bind to the same strand, the PCR product formed will
not produce a result after gel electrophoresis. The size of the gel band of the DNA amplified by the primer will determine the identity
of the allele. Band sizes will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that required different primers for DNA isolation and amplification to occur. This allele may still possess a promoter. The allele the
curry leaf has must be identified and compared to the gene sequence of a plant with the same allele but is known not to express red

The Importance Of A Good Fitness On A Positive Mood
Finding a way to keep employees in a positive mood is important for various reasons. For example, people who are experiencing
positive moods or emotions are more flexible and open in their thinking (Robbins, 2009, p. 268). In the military, being flexible and
open to thinking is critical. Especially since the military is an ever changing culture that is well known to be a significant source of
distress for military personnel during routine peacetime assignments (Pflanz, 2002). aGood use of a reference but check the need for a
page or paragraph (if an online source) number in direct quotes.
Another reason to find ways to produce positive moods in the workplace is that produces motivation. According to Steven P. Robbins
and Timothy A. Judge, in their book Organizational Behavior, putting people in a good mood and providing them positive feedback
can result in a cycle that leads to motivation (2009, p.268). Motivation in the military can mean the difference between a good fitness
report and a bad one. As a matter of fact, motivation is a key ingredient leadership boards look for when promoting personnel to the
next rank.
Lastly, when leaders feel excited, enthusiastic, and active, they may be more likely to energize their subordinates and convey a sense
of efficacy, competence, optimism, and enjoyment (Robbins, 2009, p.268). This is why it is important to find ways to create a working
environment that promotes positivity and cohesiveness in an

The Literary Relationship of Jude and 2 Peter
The Letters of Jude and 2 Peter have traditionally been grouped together because they share a direct literary relationship. However,
knowing what letter was based off of the other is very difficult to understand. Both letters belong to a collection of epistles at the end
of the New Testament which are sometimes referred to as Catholic Epistles. These two epistles both offer practical advice and
reflections on the nature of God, the nature of humanity s relationship to God, and the response of a community when confronted with
false teaching. The purpose of this paper is to detect the agreements in content or wording between the two letters and discuss whether
the letter of Jude was dependent on 2 Peter as a source or if 2 Peter used Jude as a source. Due to the several agreements between the
two letters, one can be certain that either the author of Jude or 2 Peter used the other as a source, or both independently used a
common source. Reese states that one of the reasons that Jude has often been treated alongside the book of 2 Peter has been because
the second chapter of 2 Peter and the main body of Jude share remarkable similarities in style, language, argument and examples. Both
books refer to angels who sinned, to Sodom and Gomorrah, and to Balaam (Reese 14). Both letters also remind the readers that people
like the false teachers were expected by the apostles. Reese also brings it to her readers attention that although these two epistles are
quite short

COMPARE AND CONTRAST BOURDIEU S APPROACH
TO THE AGENCY/STRUCTURE DICHOTOMY
WITH THAT OF GIDDENS
In recent years, several authors have attempted to deal with the problem of the relationship between agency and social structure. This
has manifested itself in the theory of structuration. Anthony Giddens structuration theory is one of the best known and most articulated
efforts to integrate agency and structure. His theory proposes a duality of structure, in that agency and structure cannot be seen as
independent of one another. Pierre Bourdieu is another important theorist to contribute to this agency structure debate. His theory of
habitus and field is concerned principally with overcoming the opposition between objectivism and ... Show more content on

Giddens response to this apparent problem is to emphasize the difference between option and feasible option (Thompson, 1989). An
individual who has only one option is not an agent, for there is no possible way in which that individual could have done otherwise.
But an individual who has only one feasible option is an agent. This is because the option is only limited to one in that given the
individual s wants and desires, there is only one option that the individual would regard as reasonable to pursue (Thompson, 1989). A
possible course of action would not be an option for an agent if it had no relevance to anything that the agent wanted. Giddens
manages to preserve the link between structure and agency by defining agency in such a way that any individual in any given situation
could always be an agent.
The core of the structuration theory lies in the ideas of structure, system, and duality of structure. Structure only exists in and through
the activities of human agents. It is what gives form and shape to social life, but it is not itself that form and shape. Without this
structure, social systems would not exist. Giddens does not deny the fact that structure can be constraining on action, but he feels that
sociologists have exaggerated the importance of this constraint. Furthermore, they have failed to emphasize the fact that structure

The rest of us will haul up the cooking gear and cook supper over a fire.
Understanding the situation, the Troop sets into action without any defiance. Every summer, my troop and I camp in the middle of the

The Theory Of Evolution Within Tennessee Public Schools
On March 13, 1925 the state of Tennessee passed the Butler Act. This law prohibited teaching the Theory of Evolution in Tennessee
public schools. Any teacher who taught a theory that denied the story of the Divine Creation would be punished by a fine. The
American Civil Liberties Union offered legal defense to any Tennessee teacher who would break the law and fight it in court. John
Thomas Scopes was a teacher in Dayton, Tennessee, and he intentionally taught his class about the theory of evolution, which led to
his arrest and trial. John Thomas Scopes trial began on July 10, 1925, and I watched as the trial unfolded. The famous Clarence

Democratic presidential candidate three times, and he was the fundamentalist hero. After a few days of the trial, many spectators and
reporters flocked to Dayton. I watched as the Dayton s streets became more and more crowded and I saw many preachers with revival

everyone knew what was going on in Dayton, Tennessee because of the revolutionary radio. Right outside of the courthouse, there

Region consists of mostly high mountain passes and valleys. In this region, there is heavy limestone and shale, which shows that the
area was once heavy with water and possibly even heavy life with coral to form the limestone itself. The faces of the mountains to the
eastern side are gentle where the faces on the west are steeper. Usually with these clues on the faces of the mountain, it can tell you
how the climate is yearly. Since the mountain range is in the northeast portion of the country and is steep on the corresponding side, it

Low Genetic Diversity and its Contribution to DFTD
A carnivorous marsupial, the Tasmanian Devil, has been suffering greatly from DFTD (devil facial tumor disease) but why the
population has been so susceptible to DFTD is another question. Tasmanian devils have low genetic diversity, and this factor
contributes to why DFTD is so immensely affecting this population. The Tasmanian Devil s low genetic may have been caused by the
widespread killing of the marsupial by bounty hunters, leaving the species with descendants from the same small population. This
resulting low genetic diversity from not having a very diverse selection of mates leads to small variation in the genes for their immune
systems, which may contribute to the rapid spread of

The Importance Of Christianity In The Byzantine Church Of...
The Byzantine church of Saint George located in Madaba, Jordan, is rather modest but contains a treasure of early Christianity: a large
mosaic map etched on the floor of the church. The map dates back to sixth century and depicts the places of spiritual importance in the
Christian faith. It is no surprise that the city of Jerusalem is portrayed as the center of the map, representing the significance of
Jerusalem to Christianity. It was in this city that the crucifixion of Jesus mobilized the creation of the second Abrahamic religion itself.
The map illustrates many of the Christian holy buildings in Jerusalem, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a church built on
the Western Hill during the Byzantine period. Space and religion share an intimate connection. Early Judaism focused on the temple
as the site where contact with the divine could be made. However, following the Babylonian exile, the Israelites were forced to adapt
and develop ways to worship away from the temple. They began performing daily rituals of worship such as the Sabbath and adhering
to a special diet. They eventually came to believe that the presence of their God was not solely bound to the confines of the Temple in
Jerusalem, but rather that his presence was mobile as it had originally been. Thus, over time the temple was less and less imperative to
the religion. By the time Christianity was founded, the temple remained an important symbol and place of worship, as well as a
symbol of the presence and strength of its religion in Jerusalem. In his essay Space, historian and scholar Thomas Tweed argues that
religious space is kinetic and interrelated, and thus has relations to the political, social, and economic spheres and is also connected to
both the past, the present, and the future. The ideological religious, topographical, and politico economic transformations associated
with the Church of the Holy Sepulchre embody the interrelated and kinetic nature of the space through their demonstration of the shift
from Eastern Hill to Western Hill, the shift from spiritual faith to an earth centered faith, and the change in Byzantine imperial policy
from Hadrian s Aelia Capitolina to Constantine s Christian city. The construction of the

Thompson Asset Management
Thanks, Peter. I look forward to meeting you next week as well. Allison Thompson cradled the phone and looked out her office
window at the Florida riverfront as she considered the possibilities and implications of her conversation with Peter Landman. As CEO
and founder of Thompson Asset Management (TAM), an investment management firm that she had started in Jacksonville, Florida, in
2009, Thompson had grown the firm from a single client and a $500,000 investment to about $83 million in assets under management
(AUM) in two funds. TAM had a proven track record of beating benchmarks and managing downside risk. The success of her
strategies had brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without missing a beat, she returned to her hometown of Jacksonville and started TAM. Although the first few years were difficult,
TAM gave her a platform to further test and implement her investment ideas. Thompson considered herself a market strategist, and
TAM s initial fund, ProIndex, was designed to achieve returns in excess of the benchmark S P 500 index while maintaining a risk level
consistent with the index. The easiest way for her to maintain and adjust equity market exposure was to index

The Rise Of The Gunpowder Empires
The rise of the west was a time in which European nations became more advanced and had an increase of power and dominance.
Europe became a dominant nation in the 16th Century while two large Gunpowder empires began to decline. These European nations
dominated because they had technological advancements. Some of which were gunpowder, cannons, and much more. Both the
Ottoman and the Ming Empires rose to the top and then declined after the European nations began to advance. The European Miracle
was when the European nations began to advance in technology, they expanded, and dominated the world. China was a very advanced
civilization during the 16th Century and rose to power. They had large libraries, conducted trade by using a series of canals. They also
had large cities and used paper money for trade. The Chinese invented the gunpowder and the magnetic compass. They had a very
large navy with over 2,000 vessels in all sizes and they conducted overseas expeditions. After the last Chinese expedition, there was
an imperial edict that banned the construction of ships with more than two masts. Warships were put away and not maintained. The
navy was too costly and the Chinese wanted to spend their money defending their Northern frontiers from the Mongols. This did not
require a large navy. Paul Kennedy stated that in this Restoration atmosphere, the all important officialdom was concerned to preserve
and recapture the past, not to create a brighter

Laser Therapy Case Study
The fetoscopic laser therapy [17] is currently recognized as the first line treatment for stage I to IV TTTS diagnosed before 26 weeks
of gestation, resulting in better survival and neurological outcomes of fetuses. However, because laser therapy has to coagulate the
placental anastomotic vessels between the two fetuses in TTTS, the decreased placental perfusion to the donor twin with FGR may
cause a higher fetal demise rate than in the TTTS donor without FGR [18]. Furthermore, the procedure of laser therapy is not free of
complications. In our series, 11.4% of treated cases experienced premature rupture of membranes (PROMs) within 3 weeks, and 2.2%
of treated cases developed chorioamnionitis needing termination [11]. So in the TTTS twins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

MtDNA increases have been associated with hypoxia in the placentas of FGR [8]. Our results further suggest that the rescue perfusion
from the AGA to sFGR fetuses determines the placental hypoxic status in the sFGR twins between these two groups. One potential
etiology of sFGR in MC twins is its low placental share [12]. Our results (Figure 2) of similar placental discordance in the TTTS with
sFGR (group 1) and the no TTTS twins with sFGR (group 3) provided evidence against the hypothesis that the different degrees of
low placental share in the sFGR twins led to different placental mtDNA contents between these two groups. We have previously
reported that the fetal / placenta weight (F/P) ratio is increased in MC twins with sFGR [19] when rescue perfusion from the larger
placental territory to the sFGR one through vascular anastomoses works to promote growth of the sFGR twin. By this compensatory
mechanism, the sFGR twin in each pair of shunt patent twins (group 3) gets more perfusion than its small placental territory would
usually supply, resulting in the alleviation of hypoxic stressors and a decrease of mtDNA content in the sFGR placental territory. On
the other hand, laser therapy disrupts the vascular shunt between the TTTS twins and terminates the aforementioned rescue perfusion,
resulting in hypoxia and,

  • 2. Biography Of Garson Kanin And David Crane And Hands On A... This past week, I had the opportunity to experience a magnificent play called Born Yesterday by Garson Kanin. This performance was the third of three plays I saw at the Arizona Repertory Theatre. The other two plays were Epic Proportions by Larry Coen and David Crane and Hands on a Hardbody by Doug Wright. These were the first plays I have been to, not only while attending the University of Arizona, but in my generation as a teenager. All together, these performances were amazing and have brought a newly improved insight to my perception of theatre. The hard work and dedication by the actors, directors, producers, cast members, and sound developers were absolutely incredible and I have tremendous respect for their efforts during the overall sequence of producing the plays. The most recent performance I saw, Born Yesterday, can be described and reflected on through various topics such as lighting, sound, directing and producing. I decided to arrive a half hour early to witness all the elements of the stage, audience, and theater in order to truly express my thoughts on the external features of the play. The Marroney theatre has 332 seats which were designed like movie theatre chairs. They were manufactured to be a bold red with black carpet surrounding the floor to cover the entire theatre space. For the first thirty minutes before Born Yesterday started, the theatre played classical music to soothe the ears of the audience and create a bridge to a rather quiet prolonged ... In the novel A Farewell to Arms many events come again and again. Usually, these events that repeat or come again have a deeper message inscribed in the text. This is not unlike whereas the novel The Great Gatsby has weather that unfailingly matches up with the tone and mood of the text. The author Ernest Hemingway has created A Farewell to Arms with a motif that is very precise. The motif of rain and nature in Hemingway s novel divulges that there are things that a human beings cannot control; making them recognize what they lack and how life can bring sadness. The constant appearance of rain allows for sadness to be foreshadowed; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rain which is death the leaves which represent life, fell and rotted. Rain is a spontaneous thing and is not scheduled, planned and is not in our power. Nature has a mind of its own and for humans or the people in the war to have that power are supernatural which one cannot have that kind of power. Also, humans are not capable of controlling life itself. If that were to happen in this world, there would be chaos in power and no one would be able to die peacefully and obtain that beauty of dying a heroic death. Life cannot be controlled and some people see death as a beauty for it takes humanity to God. But in life, there are many things that have been with us but when we realize that it is gone, we are burdened with our own sadness. Ronald Oliver, a director said that Women don t know what they want. Men never know what they have. The rain in the novel alters the characters mind to remind them of what they do not have. The rain brings this quote into thought about what Henry sees and feels. You knew it rained down that rained...my sweet love Catherine down might rain... (Hemingway, 197). • 5. Low Income Inequality The notion of fairness is often the underlying basis in legitimizing the concept of taxing the rich more than low income individuals. However, the very idea of fairness would assume that one gets paid accordingly to what they produce for society, given their abilities, yet the current tax system based on margins, opposes this very idea. More specifically, creating higher tax brackets for wealthy people only creates an absence or lack of incentives for the poor to work because they are funded by such taxes, just as the rich are no longer incentivized to produce more outputs in fear of these higher taxes. This complex system influences the overall economic health of society and depending on your income, you can benefit or lose to this inequality, whilst both the poor and the rich can exploit ... Opposingly, the prosperous firms hold influential power against the government since they accumulate an abundance of wealth for the economy, so they hold a certain degree of power in manipulating their own tax dollars towards innovative services that side or benefit them, in which democracy is now threatened. Similarly, shareholders are less incentivized to invest in wealthy firms because they ll get high returns which is followed by high taxes. This renders a situation of providing the poor with decreasing sums of money made by the rich because they lack incentives to produce more wealth as they also receive less investment for such outputs. However, it s been proven that there are no man eating sharks in the waters. In 1934, a teenage girl, 2 ten year old kids, and fitness expert, Jack Lalanne, swam from Alcatraz to the mainland. The works of the late 1982 Columbian literary Nobel Laureate Gabriel Garica Marquez reflect not only the sentiments of postcolonial Columbians, but also the surreal realities lived by Latin Americans in the New World. The literary genre, magic realism, can be found in Marquez s books and short stories such as 100 Years of Solitude and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings . Marquez s lecture promulgates Marquez s notion that with solitude came their undefined, mythical culture. In fact, Marquez s experiences as a child with his grandparents solidify that notion. In Raskolnikov`s words from Crime and Punishment, they were extraordinary men. Anna was a famous poet in Russia who wasn t afraid to stand up for herself and her beliefs. For years she fought for rights under Stalin s rule for the rights of poetry to be free and unrestricted. Anna Akhmatova s captivating poetry expresses the environmental factors of St.Petersburg, her involvement in the Acmeism movement and to her bad experience(s) under Stalin s rule. St.Petersburg has been an influence to Anna Akhmatova since she sparked an interest in poetry; starting in her teens. The city was often used as a thematic role in her poetry, and it gave insight on her home life. Being born into an aristocratic family being a writer was not the ideal career and is why she had to take a pen name to not shame her family s name. Often she used her beliefs, religious references and her spiritual beliefs in her poems. Her interest in 19th century prose lead her to follow in the footsteps of famous ... • 10. Apple Scar Skin Viroid Case Study Apple Scar Skin Viroid (ASSVd), a non protein coding, single stranded, circular RNA pathogen limits the detection based on the immunoassay. In this study, a visible nanobarcoding assay for one step Reveres transcription loop mediated isothermal amplification (RT LAMP) was developed to improve the LAMP selectivity and promote its diagnostic use in detecting ASSVd in plants. ASSVd LAMP was accelerated by the use of loop primers and highly sensitive with a detection limit of 103 copies of ASSVd cDNA per reaction within 30 min. The real time LAMP and melting curve analysis could differentiate between the true positive LAMP amplicons and false positive non specific primer amplification products. The optimized RT LAMP was then followed by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, they cannot be available for rapid on site detection, because of long time (( 2 h) (5). In particular, there have been an increased number of reports of viroid infection, which is mostly latent and symptomless in plants and caused by the smallest RNA. Unlike viruses, viroids are not coated with proteins, thus limiting the detection methods based on the immunoassay. Diagnosis and discrimination of viroids are challenging, because a large number of nursery stock are introduced frequently and distributed rapidly among growers. Apple scar skin viroids (ASSVds) in apple cause the plant diseases including scar skin (reddish brown patches with brownish scar like tissue), cracking, and spotting symptoms. Because of these disease symptoms, viroid has caused serious economic losses in the apple industry (6, 7). Loop mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and reverse transcription (RT) LAMP have been used to detect several types of infectious reagents with high sensitivity, efficiency, and rapidity under isothermal conditions (5, 8, 9). The need for simple, visible, and rapid detection of LAMP/or RT LAMP amplicons has led to a great variety of end point and real time/on line monitoring for field applications (10, 11). According to the general principles of LAMP amplification, 4 to 6 primers are designed to react to specific regions on the target sequences. When appropriate initiating structure ... The purpose of the study was to determine whether females were more likely to look in the mirror than males. Females and males were observed at two locations on campus where reflective surfaces were available. Students recorded whether or not a female or male looked at his/her reflection at the reflective surface. The results of the study revealed that there were more females than males who had looked at their reflection. Females are more likely to have self esteem issues and it is possible that these findings are because of this distinction. An individual with high body dissatisfaction might obsessively look into the mirror to focus on his/her imperfections that need to be improved or changed. Self esteem also plays a role in body perception. The way we view ourselves affects the way we feel about ourselves. Individuals with high self esteem often have a positive body perception (Wasylkiw, MacKinnon, MacLellan, 2012). In our society, thin bodies are ideal for women and muscular bodies are considered ideal for men. These ideal body images may be difficult to obtain and therefore men and women may begin to feel negatively about themselves. A study was conducted in 2011 that examined body size perception in students at Pennsylvania State University. Students who did not perceive themselves as having their ideal body image, reported having lower self esteem and feelings of shame. Females reported that they needed to be thinner while males reported needing to be bigger and stronger. Female students were also reported to have higher discrepancies between their ideal body and their actual body and therefore had lower self esteem. Negative body perception not only caused lower self esteem, but also ratings of attractiveness (Gillen Lefkowitz, 2011). Issues with self esteem may cause higher rates of mirror gazing because of a greater focus on flaws in body perception. There also other psychological reasons that can lead an individual to ... It incorporates itself in our dreams, our thoughts, and our actions. Everywhere we turn, it stares us blankly in the face. While it is unbearable to suffer, guilt is an emotion that reaffirms our humanity. Repentance of a particular guilt, being spiritual, physical or both, is evidence that we are beyond the baseness of our animal tendencies. The Other Side Of The River By Alex Kotlowitz Tiefenbach 1 Benjamin Tiefenbach Professor Ned Watts IAH 207 17 March 2015 Twin Cities, Twin Races Reading the book, The Other Side of the River, by Alex Kotlowitz, the author writes about the relationship between two towns in Michigan, and the death of a young boy named Eric McGinnis. The two towns, Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, are called the Twin Cities , but are ironically not related in any way. St. Joseph is 95 percent white, while Benton Harbor is impoverished and is 92 percent black. Throughout the book Kotlowitz questions the residents from both towns and how they are affected by the environment around them. The author also starts with the climax on the first page of the book the death of Eric, and uses this as an technique to tell the story of the disagreements between the two towns. With the murder of Eric, Kotlowitz identifies the climax at the beginning of the book and how it has been affecting the two towns which are physically only two and a half miles apart, and the river that flows between them only being a quarter of a mile wide. St. Joseph is a rich area while Benton Harbor is in poverty. This is relevant to the state of Michigan because many bodies of people migrate to certain regions of the state and are easily divided by different cultures and beliefs. Alex explains within the first page of the novel how he and his three droogs spent a lot of time making up [their minds] what to do with their almost unlimited free time (A Clockwork Orange 3). Early on in the novel, there is an instance where Alex talks about how they handled weapons, stating that your Humble did the old quiet cat stalk, looking for openings, knowing each other s style a bit too horrorshow really (A Clockwork Orange 58). Like Julie Carson stated in her essay Pronominalization in A Clockwork Orange , the usage of English and Russian origins in Nadsat is peculiar by modern standards. For example, the word horrorshow , which in English seems to have a grim definition, translates to good or well in Nadsat. An analysis of this language shows what concepts the youth in this setting deem as important. Violence, sex, and alcohol are necessities while peace and respect are not. This emphasis on these vices through the slang language of Nadsat shows that from the perspective of A Clockwork Orange s teenage population, the definitions of morality and sanity are deeply rooted in the desires of the population to cave into their innermost desires, a collection of thoughts known in psychology as the ... • 29. The Visit by Friedrich Durrenmatt Friedrich Durrenmatt, like Samuel Beckett, became a prominent writer that wrote about human nature after World War II. The Visit, for instance, is about an impoverished town that is in need of money. The town realizes on Ill, who is a main character, to call a friend and ask for a favor, and he does. Claire, Ill s friend, places an ironic twist on the requirement in order to get the money, which is someone must kill Ill, but by the end of the play someone does kill Ill. In general, the play depicts the idea that it is human nature to do anything in order to survive. Due to Friedrich Durrenmatt s various techniques when writing the play, the reader gets a town comparable to Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. Friedrich Durrenmatt s techniques were used to foreshadow the play and to depict the condition and choices of Germany before and during World War II from a logical view. For example, the black panther, which is one of the most profound symbols throughout the play, is Claire s pet. She brings it with her to Guellen in a cage. The panther is the symbolic foreshadow of Ill s life in this play, and Claire refers to Ill several times by the nickname black panther . The butler proclaims, The black panther escaped, Madam. (58) The black panther escapes around the same time she offers the million dollar. Like the black panther, Ill is trying to escape Guellen before someone kills him, which is similar to Jews trying to escape Germany during the 1930s before Hitler s ... • 30. Ruby Primer In order to test whether the curry leaf possesses one of the 6 alleles and whether it has a Ruby gene promoter, PCR and gel electrophoresis was used. Primers, short DNA sequences designed specifically for each allele of the Ruby gene, were used to isolate the gene and amplify it for PCR. Multiple PCRs were performed, each using a different primer set. Primers attach to specific regions surrounding the gene and amplify only the region that is flanked. The forward primer is bound to a specific sequence before the Ruby promoter, found to precede the actual gene sequence, and the reverse primer is bound to the DNA after the gene. In order for visible bands for gel electrophoresis to be produced, a forward primer must bind to one strand of DNA and a reverse primer must bind to the strand complementary to the one the forward primer binds to. If both primers bind to the same strand, the PCR product formed will not produce a result after gel electrophoresis. The size of the gel band of the DNA amplified by the primer will determine the identity of the allele. Band sizes will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Curry leaf trees may simply possess a different allele that required different primers for DNA isolation and amplification to occur. This allele may still possess a promoter. The allele the curry leaf has must be identified and compared to the gene sequence of a plant with the same allele but is known not to express red coloring. • 31. The Importance Of A Good Fitness On A Positive Mood Finding a way to keep employees in a positive mood is important for various reasons. For example, people who are experiencing positive moods or emotions are more flexible and open in their thinking (Robbins, 2009, p. 268). In the military, being flexible and open to thinking is critical. Especially since the military is an ever changing culture that is well known to be a significant source of distress for military personnel during routine peacetime assignments (Pflanz, 2002). aGood use of a reference but check the need for a page or paragraph (if an online source) number in direct quotes. Another reason to find ways to produce positive moods in the workplace is that produces motivation. According to Steven P. Robbins and Timothy A. Judge, in their book Organizational Behavior, putting people in a good mood and providing them positive feedback can result in a cycle that leads to motivation (2009, p.268). Motivation in the military can mean the difference between a good fitness report and a bad one. As a matter of fact, motivation is a key ingredient leadership boards look for when promoting personnel to the next rank. Lastly, when leaders feel excited, enthusiastic, and active, they may be more likely to energize their subordinates and convey a sense of efficacy, competence, optimism, and enjoyment (Robbins, 2009, p.268). This is why it is important to find ways to create a working environment that promotes positivity and cohesiveness in an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Literary Relationship of Jude and 2 Peter The Letters of Jude and 2 Peter have traditionally been grouped together because they share a direct literary relationship. However, knowing what letter was based off of the other is very difficult to understand. Both letters belong to a collection of epistles at the end of the New Testament which are sometimes referred to as Catholic Epistles. These two epistles both offer practical advice and reflections on the nature of God, the nature of humanity s relationship to God, and the response of a community when confronted with false teaching. The purpose of this paper is to detect the agreements in content or wording between the two letters and discuss whether the letter of Jude was dependent on 2 Peter as a source or if 2 Peter used Jude as a source. Due to the several agreements between the two letters, one can be certain that either the author of Jude or 2 Peter used the other as a source, or both independently used a common source. Reese states that one of the reasons that Jude has often been treated alongside the book of 2 Peter has been because the second chapter of 2 Peter and the main body of Jude share remarkable similarities in style, language, argument and examples. Both books refer to angels who sinned, to Sodom and Gomorrah, and to Balaam (Reese 14). Both letters also remind the readers that people like the false teachers were expected by the apostles. Reese also brings it to her readers attention that although these two epistles are quite short ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

COMPARE AND CONTRAST BOURDIEU S APPROACH TO THE AGENCY/STRUCTURE DICHOTOMY WITH THAT OF GIDDENS In recent years, several authors have attempted to deal with the problem of the relationship between agency and social structure. This has manifested itself in the theory of structuration. Anthony Giddens structuration theory is one of the best known and most articulated efforts to integrate agency and structure. His theory proposes a duality of structure, in that agency and structure cannot be seen as independent of one another. Pierre Bourdieu is another important theorist to contribute to this agency structure debate. His theory of habitus and field is concerned principally with overcoming the opposition between objectivism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Giddens response to this apparent problem is to emphasize the difference between option and feasible option (Thompson, 1989). An individual who has only one option is not an agent, for there is no possible way in which that individual could have done otherwise. But an individual who has only one feasible option is an agent. This is because the option is only limited to one in that given the individual s wants and desires, there is only one option that the individual would regard as reasonable to pursue (Thompson, 1989). A possible course of action would not be an option for an agent if it had no relevance to anything that the agent wanted. Giddens manages to preserve the link between structure and agency by defining agency in such a way that any individual in any given situation could always be an agent. The core of the structuration theory lies in the ideas of structure, system, and duality of structure. Structure only exists in and through the activities of human agents. It is what gives form and shape to social life, but it is not itself that form and shape. Without this structure, social systems would not exist. Giddens does not deny the fact that structure can be constraining on action, but he feels that sociologists have exaggerated the importance of this constraint. • 40. The Importance Of Christianity In The Byzantine Church Of... The Byzantine church of Saint George located in Madaba, Jordan, is rather modest but contains a treasure of early Christianity: a large mosaic map etched on the floor of the church. The map dates back to sixth century and depicts the places of spiritual importance in the Christian faith. It is no surprise that the city of Jerusalem is portrayed as the center of the map, representing the significance of Jerusalem to Christianity. It was in this city that the crucifixion of Jesus mobilized the creation of the second Abrahamic religion itself. The map illustrates many of the Christian holy buildings in Jerusalem, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a church built on the Western Hill during the Byzantine period. Space and religion share an intimate connection. Early Judaism focused on the temple as the site where contact with the divine could be made. However, following the Babylonian exile, the Israelites were forced to adapt and develop ways to worship away from the temple. They began performing daily rituals of worship such as the Sabbath and adhering to a special diet. They eventually came to believe that the presence of their God was not solely bound to the confines of the Temple in Jerusalem, but rather that his presence was mobile as it had originally been. Thus, over time the temple was less and less imperative to the religion. By the time Christianity was founded, the temple remained an important symbol and place of worship, as well as a symbol of the presence and strength of its religion in Jerusalem. In his essay Space, historian and scholar Thomas Tweed argues that religious space is kinetic and interrelated, and thus has relations to the political, social, and economic spheres and is also connected to both the past, the present, and the future. The ideological religious, topographical, and politico economic transformations associated with the Church of the Holy Sepulchre embody the interrelated and kinetic nature of the space through their demonstration of the shift from Eastern Hill to Western Hill, the shift from spiritual faith to an earth centered faith, and the change in Byzantine imperial policy from Hadrian s Aelia Capitolina to Constantine s Christian city. Laser Therapy Case Study The fetoscopic laser therapy [17] is currently recognized as the first line treatment for stage I to IV TTTS diagnosed before 26 weeks of gestation, resulting in better survival and neurological outcomes of fetuses. However, because laser therapy has to coagulate the placental anastomotic vessels between the two fetuses in TTTS, the decreased placental perfusion to the donor twin with FGR may cause a higher fetal demise rate than in the TTTS donor without FGR [18]. Furthermore, the procedure of laser therapy is not free of complications. So in the TTTS twins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... MtDNA increases have been associated with hypoxia in the placentas of FGR [8]. Our results further suggest that the rescue perfusion from the AGA to sFGR fetuses determines the placental hypoxic status in the sFGR twins between these two groups. One potential etiology of sFGR in MC twins is its low placental share [12]. Our results (Figure 2) of similar placental discordance in the TTTS with sFGR (group 1) and the no TTTS twins with sFGR (group 3) provided evidence against the hypothesis that the different degrees of low placental share in the sFGR twins led to different placental mtDNA contents between these two groups. We have previously reported that the fetal / placenta weight (F/P) ratio is increased in MC twins with sFGR [19] when rescue perfusion from the larger placental territory to the sFGR one through vascular anastomoses works to promote growth of the sFGR twin. By this compensatory mechanism, the sFGR twin in each pair of shunt patent twins (group 3) gets more perfusion than its small placental territory would usually supply, resulting in the alleviation of hypoxic stressors and a decrease of mtDNA content in the sFGR placental territory. On the other hand, laser therapy disrupts the vascular shunt between the TTTS twins and terminates the aforementioned rescue perfusion, resulting in hypoxia and, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
