Investigate how the Concentration of a Sucrose Solution...
Investigate how the Concentration of a Sucrose Solution affects the Rate of Osmosis
Introduction:
Diffusion is the movement of particles from a high concentration to a low concentration until they are
spread out evenly. An example of diffusion is when an aerosol is sprayed. The particles spread out
from the high concentration at the nozzle into the rest of the room and that is how the smell moves.
Osmosis is the passage of water molecules from a weaker solution to a stronger solution through a
partially permeable membrane. Osmosis is a type of diffusion involving water the water molecules
move from a weak solution (with a high concentration of water) into a strong solution (with a low
concentration of water).
The cell membrane in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason I predict that three will increase in mass and two decrease is because in my preliminary
experiment this was shown to be the case in these concentrations, however this could change in my
real experiment.
The chips that increase in mass have taken on more water which means that at the beginning of the
experiment the sucrose solution had a higher concentration of water than the chip and this is likely to
apply to the weaker sucrose solutions as they have a low concentration of sugar and therefore a high
percentage of water molecules. The strong sucrose solutions have a higher percentage of sugar
molecules and therefore a lower percentage of water molecules and if the concentration of water in the
potato chip is higher than in the solution then water will leave the potato chip by osmosis and
therefore the chip will lose mass. The water molecules move into cells that contain a lower
concentration due to the difference in osmotic potential between cells. The water molecules move
through a semi permeable membrane (the cell membrane) which has big enough holes in it to let
through the small water molecules, but not the bigger sucrose molecules. At a certain concentration of
sucrose solution the concentration of water will be the same in both the chip and the solution which
means there will be no transferral of water between the

Who s To Blame For Titanic Research Paper
Do you know who s to blame for the Titanic? The Titanic was the largest ship, at the time, and it was
also told to be unsinkable. The Titanic belonged to The White Star Cross line, along with her sisters,
Olympic and Britannic. The Titanic hit the iceberg April 14 and went down April 15th. J.Bruce Ismay
is at fault for the sinking of the Titanic. Ismay is at fault because he owned the Titanic, he left the ship,
he declined 48 lifeboats.
For example, he owned the Titanic. In the article it states, Also consider that Ismay owned the White
Star Line, which means he owned the Titanic. Also in the article, If a person owns something that is
used for the public, and it fails in some way, or if death or injury occurs on that public property, it
seems whoever owns it should take some responsibility. In other words, the Titanic was used for
public use, so if it causes injury or death, the owner should be held responsible. He not only owned it
but he had a say in some of the construction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The deck was nowhere near clear considering their was still at least 1500 people left on board. He also

Compare The Five Year Marketing And Product Objectives For...
VII. Market/Product Focus
This section describes the five year marketing and product objectives for American Airlines and the
target markets, points of difference, and positioning of the company.
Marketing and Product Objectives
American Airlines will target not only business travelers that prefer a premium service airline that
focuses on safety and customer satisfaction, but also leisure travelers that are looking for cheaper
prices. These are detailed in the areas below:
Current markets. AA is the largest U.S. commercial airline and one of the world s biggest based on
revenue, passenger miles, and available seat miles. AA carried more total system passengers in 2015
than any other U.S. airline. American also carried more passengers on international ... Show more

Flyers are technological equipped with mobile devices as their number one companion. Business
travelers are increasing, making purchase decisions based on a wide range of features and value
enhancers, from extended seat space options and priority security line access to mobile ticketing, and
inflight Wi Fi availability (D Alessandro Kletzel, 2013).
The secondary market would be leisure travelers, who are considerably price sensitive. The
demographics of these travelers vary widely. Unlike the primary target market, these consumers are
always looking for a good deal and look for the cheapest airfare. Starting in late 2018, American
Airlines will roll out its basic economy fares for those consumers that usually buy the cheap flights (O
Neill, 2017).

Father Daughter Relationship In Hamlet
The father, or father figure, has the ability like no other to shape the life of his young daughter. This is
because of the powerful influence that fathers hold, which gives them the ability to not only impress
upon a daughter s actions, but also her self confidence, esteem, image, and even her opinions of men.
Depending on the father, or person in the conventional father s place, communication styles and
teaching methods widely vary in the father daughter relationship. This is perfectly displayed in
Shakespeare s Hamlet , through Polonius fatherly advice given to Ophelia, and through the moral
lesson found at the end of Little Red Riding Hood , the Grimm Brothers version. In both works, the
daughters receive a warning regarding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrastly, in Little Red Riding Hood , the father s goal is to warn his daughter of all men, not just one
in specific. However, this moral can be interpreted that the daughter must be cautious of men, more
specifically pimps and those who wish to exploit or harm her sexually. This point is successfully
expressed through the use of wolves in the child s folktale, but the story also comes with a moral for
the young daughter to never talk to strangers because it is [the] gentle wolves who are the most
dangerous ones of all (Grimm 1). Through this warning, the father is giving his daughter very broad
advice how to protect herself from males of all shapes and forms. Consequently, both fathers in each
plot are warning their daughters in order to keep them out of danger and pain however, each message
is regarding different men: Hamlet or pimps.
To continue, both fathers make mention in their warnings that men are not to be trusted because they
are governed by lust, which they do not have the ability control. To be more specific, in Hamlet ,
Polonius explains, These blazes, daughter, / Giving more light than heat, extinct in both / Even in their
promise as it is a making, / You must not take for fire (I, iii, 115 120. Polonius says this because
Ophelia tells her father that she believes she is in love with Hamlet however, Polonius is saying that

Black Holes, By John Archibald Wheeler
Black holes are one of the most mysterious aspects of the Universe. Scientists know that black holes
contain an insane amount of matter packed into a small space with a gravitational field so intense that
not even light can escape it. This review will focus primarily on what is known about black holes, how
scientists know black holes exist, current studies and experiments, and why they are studied. Based off
the knowledge humans have already uncovered about black holes, they could change the future. Black
holes could realistically be used to power starships, enabling humans to travel at near light speed to
explore the Cosmos. Humans would be able to conquer the most unknown frontier yet.
It was not until 1916 that black holes were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gamma ray bursts from collisions or collapses signify the birth of a new black hole. Immense amounts
of energy are released during formations, and it is at the center of a black hole, its singularity, that the
laws of physics break down. As claimed by NASA, during each formation of a black hole, the black
hole will reach an event horizon , where time appears to slow to an outside observer. See Figure 1 to
view the parts of a black hole. Eventually during formation, time will stop, the star will not collapse
anymore, and it will be frozen. To an outside observer, an object that reaches the event horizon and
falls into a black hole would appear to never fully go in. This is because of the process called
Spaghettification , which explains that if a human were to fall in, the force of gravity of their feet
would be millions of times greater than the force on their head, so in a literal sense, they would stretch
out and become flat before going in. It would literally appear to be an illusion because to the human
falling in, time passes normally, yet slows for an outside observer. Time was discovered to slow near
black holes when it was observed that light curves and bends when nearing a black hole. The only way
to explain this bend is with Einstein s theory of general relativity and his concept of space time. Space
time is the idea that space is actually a fabric that is warped by gravity. Einstein concluded that space
and time cannot be effected without

Earthquake Experience Essay
My experience with massive earthquake.
3 years ago, I had experience of massive and repeated aftershock and tremor. It was Saturday in the
morning, it was official holiday of our nation. I and my family were living at the heart of Kathmandu,
a city full of historical monuments. It was unforgettable days for me. It was black day of the nation. It
was worst natural catastrophes that I ever encounter. The lesson that earthquake gave me was to live
life satisfyingly and prepare for what s coming.
During the period of incident, I was living in down floor apartment of four stored building with my
mother and sister. The house was recently built. The surrounding houses were old which were built in
primitive way. In Saturday, it was good sunny day and holiday we were having launch with my mother
and sister. My father was living in abroad. We all had plan for the holiday, I was planning to meet my
friend, my sister was having her board exam and shoe was more into study. But before we move out of
home, disastrous earthquake occurred.
At 10:56 am, we all family were together having launch. Suddenly, the earth shook and all the utensil
started moving and the wall swayed violently. The intense shake causes lose my balance and my
mother shouted to me and my sister to hide with her inside the table. Seconds later, I heard could hear
the sound of the ground, the house falling down, the screaming of people. Even after minutes it
earthquake started swaying and shaking like it has been intensely intoxicated. There was no way to get
out of house, as gate used to be locked as usual during turbulence.
After the earthquake, we moved outside the ground, many aged houses had turned into dust and rubble
hovering around the whole city. People alive inside the destroyed building were crying for help and
assistance. Seeing all the body covered with stone and brick made me cry as if I was having a worst
nightmare. The adrenaline rush began when I saw the people whom I used to talk were buried inside
the bricks and all I could see was their hands, legs. It was impossible to get the body out from the
ripped foundation.
When I took a glance at the surrounding, people were scrambled like a colony of ants, looking for the
assistance. The

Kate Chopin s Symbolism
Kate Chopin is an author who stands out to society for being primarily a skillful colorist. Chopin is
recognized for her novels and short stories written as a young adult. As an author, the literary world
knows her for the themes of her many novels; trite and sordid, although many authors still praised her
as a realist. Kate Chopin was a masterful colorist representing her personal and professional Louisiana

Judge Danforth Quotes
In the play, The Crucible, Judge Danforth is an extremely important character. He plays a significant
role in the plot of the story, mainly because he is the person who presides over the witch trials in
Salem, Massachusetts. Generally, as a person, Judge Danforth is gruff and emotionless. Although, as
the play goes on, one can tell that he is quite vulnerable and gullible at the same time. Danforth s
decisions and actions have a huge part in the story, and it is interesting to see how his beliefs play out.
In The Crucible, Judge Danforth is determined to stop the hysteria over the accusations of witchcraft,
but he ultimately ends up adding more chaos and tragedy to the situation at hand.
To begin, Judge Danforth is a very powerful and influential character when it comes to the Salem
Witch Trials. He is the deputy governor of the town, and it his responsibility to determine the fates of
the accused. It all begins when the girls are caught dancing and singing in the woods with Tituba.

but after that, any name that comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

guilty. His actions show how gullible he truly is, and it is frustrating to others that he cannot see the
truth. Even at the end of the story, he is too insulted and proud to admit that maybe he could be wrong;
that would be too bad for his own reputation. Therefore, innocent people continue to die. For example,
during the trial when John Proctor admits his affair with Abigail, Danforth says, You deny every scrap
and tittle of this? . Abby then responds with an overly sassy answer, yet Danforth does nothing about
it. He just continues to believe Abby s wicked accusations and denials, even when it becomes clear
that they are complete

Chinese State Owned Enterprises
Introduction Since the Chinese Economic reform in 1978, Chinese economy transferred from planned
economy to market economy. Under the new circumstances of socialist market economy with Chinese
characteristics, a large number of workers faced unemployment with the economic reforms. In the
1990s, the reforms of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) enhanced the job losses and changes, causing a
new noun xiagang , the laid off workers unemployed with remained work relationships from SOEs. In
comparison with the situations before 1980s, the workers benefits and social positions have
dramatically changed. The workers no longer hold the so called Iron Rice Bowl that guaranteed all the
welfares and permanent employment. On xiagang status, workers are helpless, depressed and confused
about the future. Laid off workers in China has become an issue of great significance related to
workforce allocation, people s wellbeing and economic development.
In this essay, we will discover the reasons for the appearance of laid off workers in China from current
literature via historical and economic aspects and also the influences of reforms of SOEs on the
hardship of the laid off workers. In addition, the re employment policies will be covered.
Appearance of laid off workers

A hacker attacks an easy target first, and then uses it to hide his identity and traces of launching
attacks at more secured sites. The aim of an attack is to gain complete control of the system (in order

Mario Molina s Life
In today s society, more and more threats to the welfare of our earth and atmosphere are being
discovered. Some world leaders dismiss these concerns, 1) because they choose to remain ignorant of
the condition of the planet s environment, 2) because it would cost them too much money to fix the
problem, 3) because it is easier not to deal with the problem, or 4) they simply do not care. We cannot
simply ignore these problems, for any of these reasons, because the longer we wait to address them,
the more dire the situation becomes. The scientists who study these threats to our environment want to
solve this issue. That s what scientists do; they form a hypothesis and test every variable until they
find a solution. Mario Molina studied the effects of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) on the ozone, finding

Retrospective serologic studies indicated that proior to the SARS outbreak, there were no antibodies in
the human population (KSIAZEK ET AL 2003). This finding was vitally important because it
indicated that animal to human transmission is responsible for the SARS CoV entrance into the human
population. Two groups of researchers recently and independently demonstrated that bats (genus
Rhinolophus) are natural reservoirs of Sars like viruses, which provided very strong evidence that
SARS CoV was a zoonotic virus with wildlife orgin [6,7] The identification of a natural reservoir is
both difficult and essential. A natural reservoir is where the virus hides between outbreaks, and is
often difficult to identify because the organism does not display symptoms of the disease. Early
observation of patterns in SARS CoV transmission showed that many of the first patients were had

The second is JIT layouts which is designed to reduce the movements. JIT materials layout place

The Fossil Of Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels are formed from decayed prehistoric plants and animals that lived millions of years ago
(Science Daily). According to the United States Department of Energy, when ancient living plants and
animals died, they decomposed and became buried under layers of mud, rock, and sand. After millions
of years, these plants and animals slowly decomposed into organic material. Depending on what
combination of plant and/or animal debris was decomposed, different types of fossil fuels were
formed. These fossil fuels are then converted into coal, oil, and natural gas (United States Department
of Energy). With this in mind, fossil fuels take millions of years to form and once used they can never

Each type of fossil fuel releases different substances into the air when being used. For example coal is
a hard rich like substance that is made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and varying amounts
of sulfur. Obviously, when burned these elements are released into the atmosphere (California Energy
Commission). Coal is available in almost every country in the world, with the biggest reserves in the
United States, Russia, China, and India.
For over centuries, fossil fuels have been used to fuel houses, cars, and work places, along with many
others establishments. Fossil fuels are a necessity in the average persons life. As stated by Clarkson

Evidence in the above passage that suggests that Caitlin Moran is an enthusiastic fan of the Sherlock

Clubfoot Essay
CLUBFOOT
Clubfoot is defined as a congenital foot deformity characterized by a kidney shaped foot that turns
inward and points down. The forefoot is curved inward, the heel is bent inward, and the ankle is fixed
in planter flexion with the toes pointing down. Shortened tendons on the inside of the lower leg,
together with abnormally shaped bones that restrict movement outwards cause the foot to turn
inwards. A tightened achilles tendon causes the foot to point downwards. The medical term for
clubfoot is talipes equinovarus . It is the most common congenital disorder of the lower extremity.

The majority of clubfeet results from abnormal development of the muscles, tendons, and bones while
the baby is forming in the uterus. Genetic and environmental factors in the development of the fetus
seem to also be some of the causes. The disturbance of the normal growing foot probably occurs at
about the eighth week of pregnancy. The cause of the foot growing deformed is unknown, but believed
to have something to do with heredity. Many cases of clubfoot do not have easily identifiable causes.
The goal of treatment is to achieve and maintain as normal as a foot as possible. The extent of the
required treatment varies, depending upon the rigidity of the foot. Treatment may take several months,
but most children learn to crawl, stand, and walk at the normal age. There are a couple different ways
to go about treating clubfoot, the two most perfered being manipulation and casting, and surgery.
Clubfoot is most common in children who suffer from spina bifida who have an L4 or L5 motor level.
Many orthopedic surgeons instead of serial casting suggest early taping and gentle manipulation
followed by an application of a well padded splint. The reason for this is because serial casting can
cause skin irritations and breakdown. Another technique manipulation and casting is a treatment that
begins shortly after birth. It involves slowly stretching out the tightened muscles and holding the foot

Colored People in Jazz by Toni Morrison
Toni Morrison chose the title Jazz of this book because jazz symbolize increasing complex styles and
that fits in the title because of the parts that happened throughout the story. It also symbolizes
movement because jazz is fast pace music and fast dancing so that is another reason why Toni
Morrison picked the title of this book. It was a lot of movement in the book with some of the main
characters in the story and their movement was fast just like jazz. I believe she also picked this title
because jazz also means honest, benevolent, brilliant, and full of high inspirations and that is what
some of the characters showed in the story. The meaning jazz can also tie into the story because some
of them showed a control over others affairs. The sitting and genre of this novel takes place in Virginia
during the Harlem Renaissance in the early mid 1900 s. Basically most of the events in the story took
place on a street called Lenox Ave. I can tell that this street of Virginia has a lot of excitement and is
always busy. Everybody knows everyone business. The people in Virginia very friendly too during
this time period. One of the main characters have a lot of friends that she can go to for information
about people around the neighborhood. Just like any other television show or movie from the early

The Effects Of Early Educational And Extra Curricular...
Taking Sides: Modern Day Parenthood The purpose of this paper is to provide a critical examination
of the research by Anne R. Pierce regarding the effects of early educational and extra curricular
activities on the overall development of children (Pierce, 2002, p.39 43). The three flaws analyzed
from the article Who s Raising Baby? Challenges to Modern Day Parenting, are the lack of supporting
data analysis, presence of confounding variables, and lack of statistical evidence to support the claim.
The strength of the research is found in the use of multiple credible sources to support the claim that
child development is hindered by early pressures from education and auxiliary activities.
Summary
In the article, Anne R. Pierce provides a discourse to support her claim that children are spending
more time outside the home because of an increase in educational and extra curricular activities from a
young age which is hindering children s development. She also discusses how even when children are
at home there is a lack of developmentally stimulating activities taking place (Pierce, 2002, p. 39).
Pierce cites this occurrence as being a result of the increased desire of parents for their children to be
more competitive and to have an advantage in the future, which creates a philosophy of child rearing
as a race... [which] compels families toward incessant action (Pierce, 2002, p. 40). The article goes
through different aspects of psychological, emotional, and social development

I gathered information from Terrence G by interacting and by asking series of questions. In addition, I
asked his mother Nicole G questions that Terrance did not know the answer to. The interview took
place in the living room of their home Saturday afternoon. I spent an hour observing the participant.
Terrance is a 15 year old, American Black male. He is 5 9 ft tall in height, thin built, shadow facial
hair above his lip. Also, he speaks with a deep voice due to the changes that adolescence occur at that
age. His hair was neatly trimmed and he was casually dressed in sweats and t shirt. During the
observation, I noticed how well spoken and articulate he answered my questions. He gave eye to eye

Reasons For Improving The Level Of Commitment And Employee...
Q6. Decisions that need to be made. Right now Currently, there is the need to help improve the level
of commitment and employee motivation among the staff at the radio station. Long term In the long
run, there will be the need to alter the organizational structure to set up clear and efficient lines of
command, developing a clear mission and vision that would guide the activities of the firm and
enhancing the working conditions at the radio station by improving the nature of their working
relationship by offering long term contracts. Q7. What I would do if I were Fiske First, I would
immediately engage in efforts to win the support of the Michigan State University administration. To
achieve this, there are two options that may be pursued. First demonstrate enhanced management at
the radio station and thus portray WEAA as a going concern. This would involve adoption of stricter
internal control policies in terms of employee conduct and improving the firm s financial performance
by engaging in more fundraising activities that would inject more capital and thus, improve WEAA
bottom s line. The other option would be to opt for a more strategic partnership with the University by
highlighting the benefits that would accrue to the institution from the radio station. For example,
Michigan State University would benefit from increased publicity as thus attract a higher student
population. This would translate to more revenue in terms of tuition fees. The criteria to be used in

Apple and Their Innovations
Apple is referred to as the brand of innovation. It is known as a leading innovator which uses its brand
name, friendly interface and it design to reinvent and grow product into new or existing market. They
created the first smartphone back in 2007 and it was seen as the best information system created since
the mobile phone. There are many lessons that we learned from apple business model. The first one is
that Apple is no longer a product business but it is more about a platform business even though many
people see apple dependent on their bestseller the Iphone. The continuous development of the
platform potential is where the leadership of apple lies. For instance, the Iphone design didn t change
much since its launch but the hardware component are changing constantly as we can see in the
Iphone 5S where the major change is the A7 new chips and the capacity of displaying at 64 bits
instead of the 32 bits used by all its competitors. This strategy is very good for any company
competing in the technological industry as it helps focus more on their business transformation and
hardware innovation. For instance, Apple is building around its ecosystems and platforms all its
revenue streams, the different products in the chain and the different services they offer.
The second important innovation of Apple is their focus on product design. As we know design is a
necessity in a fierce market. However, it is not always seen as a success ingredient but more as a
commodity. For

Different Types of Competition
Pure Competition: Pure competition involves number of companies or firms manufacturing similar or
identical goods. In such pure competition the firms have no control over the prices. These companies
are often termed as Price Takers . The pricing strategy is no in hands of the company it is determined
by market forces. The firms operating in a pure competition manufacture standardized products which
do not offer them a chance to differentiate their products on the basis of some unique feature of the
product. The firms also do not spend on advertising their products because of the standardized nature
of the products the firms manufacture. The demand of the products in pure competition is perfectly
elastic. This principle maximizes the productivity by efficiently allocating the resources in the right
areas. The firms do not have any market power as they have no or very little impact on the overall
market structure. In order for a firm to maximize the profits the pricing strategy that is used is cost
plus pricing where the firm charges the consumer for the cost and the per unit profit that they like to
charge on the basis on the basis of market analysis. (Akerlof, 1970) The pricing strategy does not play
an integral role in the development of the business in pure competition therefore other strategies
contribute more to the success of a company. The firm has to spend heavily on research and
technology in order to lower their costs than their competitors. In this way the

The Difference between Terrorism and Domestic Terrorism Essay
The terms terrorism and domestic terrorism are very similar concepts. There are, however, slight
differences in each. Entities that are apart of the Government have slightly different ways of
explaining what they believe to be the correct definition of terrorism and domestic terrorism. In this
paper the author will offer definitions of the two terms and state which one they agree with the most.
The author will also state how the two terms are best differentiated.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) defines terrorism on the basis of three characteristics. In
order for an act to be considered terrorism, it needs to be (1) a violent act, or acts dangerous to human
life that violates laws; (2) appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or ... Show more content on

They elucidate that terrorism is a premeditated, politically motivated, violence perpetrated against
noncombatant targets by subnational groups of clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an
audience, (National Institute of Justice).
All of the definitions that the author has presented tend to share a common theme. In each of the
previous definitions, the use of force that is intended to coerce or sway a course of action that furthers
a social, or political goal. In most cases, the FBI definition is the one most widely used and accepted
by law enforcement entities (National Institute of Justice). The author seconds that the FBI definition
is the one that she agrees with the most. The FBI definition seems like the only one that doesn t leave
anything out. It is the most descriptive, and unlike the American Heritage definition, it broadens the
scope of terrorists from being a certain type of group to the possibility of it being just one man or
woman.
The FBI also gives a definition of domestic terrorism that is very similar to its definition of terrorism,
but has a minor difference. Like terrorism, there are three characteristics that need to be met in order
to define an act as domestic terrorism. The first characteristic is that it needs to involve acts that are
dangerous to human life that violate federal or state laws. The second characteristic is it needs to
appear intended to (i) intimidate or coerce civilian population; (ii) influence policies of a

Prior to the war the Ordinance Bureau had decided to begin evaluating breech loading carbines for the
cavalry. Ripley opposed breech loaders or repeating rifles for infantry use. There was a belief that they
would waste ammunition, and were expensive. His main complaint was that the production of these
weapons would curtail production of carbines. He saw the inherent advantage of the breechloader for
mounted service. It was far simpler to reload from horseback than a muzzle loading arm. Because of
this there many options for domestic carbines at the start of the war. The Sharps carbine was the
weapon that the North wanted. The Sharps Company would produce over eighty thousand carbines
during the war. But these were not enough. In response to the demand for carbines various other arms

the Cosmopolitan and Maynard were also purchased at this time. Carbine production was centered in

How Does American Culture Affect France
Introduction:
France, one of the oldest countries in Europe, has been the home to many languages since the dawn of
its creation. As one of the most influential European nations, France has successfully spread its culture

Centuries prior to the French Revolution, France was a land mass occupied by many people of

efforts of Henry Clay the amendment was accepted by the House. Missouri was authorized to submit a

presented to Congress for approval in 1821. It included a paragraph requiring the legislature to prevent
the immigration of free blacks into the state. The antislavery faction in Congress objected to this
provision and a compromise bill, often called the Second Missouri Compromise, was passed on March
2, 1821. This measure forbade Missouri to limit the rights guaranteed to all citizens by the federal
government, meaning it could not ban the entry of free blacks into the state.

Color Television In The 1950 s
Color Television
First, I would like to define what color television is and then give some background history. Color
television is a television transmission technology that includes information on the color of the picture,
so the video image can be displayed in color on the television set. There was time when television
wasn t what it is today. Before many of us were born, the earliest television technology, which was the
monochrome or black and white television. The black and white sets displayed images of grey and the
monochrome sets showed rapid colors of red, green and blue which together showed images of color.
Many of the T.V. s were floor models or tabletop bulky sets. Television was upgraded from the black
and white screen to color in the 60 s and 70 s. The invention of color television and its standards are
an important part of television history.

a little care with a lifetime of value. When you first glimpse a solid hardwood floor, you sense
richness, warmth and natural beauty. Surface finishes can be polyurethane (the most common), pre
finished floors, water based polyurethane (second most common), and catalyzed. Penetrating seals can
be acrylics, oils or waxes. Some surface finishes cover the wood with a clear finish that keeps
anything from damaging the wood. Please note that ammonia is especially bad of oils and waxes. You
may prefer to buy floors which are tiled, carpeted, or laid with linoleum etc. It all depends on your
personal choice and taste. However, do realize that wood floors tend to pass sound, particularly heavy
footsteps and low bass frequencies . Floating floors can reduce or eliminate this problem. Finally, here
is a safety note to say that wood floors can be quite slippery, especially after cleaning, and without the
rug guards, rugs can slip right along the surface of them. So take care and be safe! Article Source:

Bruce Lee
The greatest icon of martial arts cinema, and a key figure of modern popular culture. Had it not been
for the amazing Bruce Lee and his incredible movies in the early 1970s, it s arguable whether or not
the martial arts film genre would have ever penetrated and influenced mainstream western cinema
audiences the way it has over the past three decades. The influence of Asian martial arts cinema can be
seen today in so many other film genres including comedies, action, drama, science fiction, horror and
animation.....and they all have their roots in the phenomenon that was Bruce Lee Bruce Lee was born
Lee Juan Fan in November 1940 in San Francisco, the son of Lee Hoi Chuen, a singer with the

Chow was keen to utilize Lee s strong popularity amongst young Chinese fans, and offered him the
lead role in _Tang sha da xiong (1971)_ ( aka Fists of Fury , aka The Big Boss ). The film was
directed by Wei Lo, shot in Thailand, on a very low budget and in terrible living conditions for cast
and crew. However when it opened in Hong Kong, the film was an enormous hit! Young Chinese
flocked in their thousands to see this ground breaking film starring a tough, athletic Chinese hero who
dispensed justice with his fists and feet. Chow knew he had struck box office gold with Lee, and
quickly assembled another script entitled Jing wu men (1972) (aka The Chinese Connection , aka Fist
of Fury ). The second film (with a slightly improved budget) was again directed by Wei Lo and was
set in Shanghai in the year 1900, with Lee returning to his school to find his beloved master has been
poisoned by the local Japanese karate school. Once again, he uncovered the evil doers and set about
seeking revenge on those responsible for murdering his teacher. The film featured several superb fight
sequences, and at the film s conclusion, Lee refuses to surrender to the Japanese law and seemingly
leaps to his death in a hail of police bullets! Once more, Hong Kong streets were jammed back with
thousands of fervent Chinese movie fans who could not get enough of the fearless Bruce Lee, and his
second film went on to break the box

Causes Of Environmental Issues
As many people know, many issues are going around the world. People are living with along
environmental issue, social issue, personal issue, and more. Each issue can be important for a person
while can be unnecessary to the others. Also, some people try to solve those issues while the others do
not care. However, the global issues around the world are the most serious and concerning problems.
According to Globe scan, 64% out of 25,000 people said environmental issue is the most serious
problem. Like other issues, environmental issue is a growing problem around the whole world. Some
people know and say that humans have to save the Earth, but how many of them actually keep those
rules to save it? For that reason, environmental issue is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a pie graph from EIA about the United States greenhouse gas emissions in 2009. It showed
81.5% of carbon dioxide is responsible. Also, the responsibility of methane was 11.1%, nitrous oxide
was 3.3%, high GWP gases were 2.7, and other carbon dioxide was 1.3%. As the graph showed,
carbon dioxide takes the biggest part for causing global warming because it is emitted by fossil fuels
which are used for people s daily lives. The cars are the best example of emitting carbon dioxide.
When gasoline is burned, carbon dioxide is emitted to the air. Not only the cars, but also factories,
electricity production and other transportations are responsible for emitting carbon dioxide. Those are
made and built by human beings, and the number one causation of global warming. Also,
deforestation is another factor that causes carbon dioxide. Usually, people know that trees are emitting
oxygen by absorbing carbon dioxide. However, when trees die and decay the mass of carbon dioxide
that were saved in the tress is released. Because people cut and burn the trees now, the more carbon
dioxide is released than before. Once forests are disappears, there will be mass of carbon dioxide in
the Earth by killing trees, and will be no source that turn this gas into oxygen. Methane is another
synthetic gas that is responsible for global warming. It is a gas that more powerful and active than
carbon dioxide, and the second biggest causation of global

Paradigm Vs Traditional Paradigm
A paradigm is a model of a situation or a mindset. Paradigms can be rigid or constantly developing as
you learn and grow, physically maturing or emotionally evolving. Initially, a paradigm was referring
to an accepted model or pattern. In Structure, Thomas Kuhn defined a paradigm simply as a group of
exemplary problem solutions universally accepted by the members of a scientific community (Brad
Wray, 2012). According to Kuhn, what constitute a paradigm are not abstract theories, but concrete
applications of the theories for solutions of typical problem. Paradigm can provide new ways of
understanding behaviors in humans such as in individuals, organization, family, community or group
and global context. The paradigm concept can serve us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditionally, being white is superior across the board, while the alternative paradigm would celebrate
the rich color of diversity. A traditional paradigm that has gone on for centuries would be the sales and
promotion of white baby dolls. Until the modern day alternative paradigm shift in the celebration of
diversity, all children were presented with a white baby doll as a gift. This paradigm skewed the
thought of what a perfect baby looked like, leaving children and even adults absorbing from the
youngest age that white was superior. Currently, a child can find a doll to match their hair color, eye
color and skin color with facial features that reflect their ethnicity.
Charles Barkley once stated, I m not paid to be a role model. I m paid to wreak havoc on the
basketball court. This quote is a perfect example of the traditional paradigm illustrating impersonal
and a competitive mindset. Mr. Barkley felt no obligation to society and demonstrated that his success
was only about him and what he was paid to do. An alternative paradigm for such a public figure
would be LeBron James, The LeBron James Family Foundation focuses on children, with James
donating around $41 million in 2015 sending 1,100 kids to school. Every child that finished his
program will go to college for free. Additionally, James spoke out publicly

Griswold Vs Connecticut Case Study
Griswold v Connecticut The director of Planned Parenthood League of Connecticut, Estelle Griswold,
and Dr. C. Lee Buxton were accused and found guilty of providing illicit contraception under a
Connecticut law. They were both fined $100 each for this crime. Griswold and Buxton appealed to the
Supreme Court of Errors of Connecticut, stating that the law was unconstitutional because it violated
the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. The Connecticut court endorsed the conviction, so they
appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court revised the case in 1965.

Supreme Court stated that the Homosexual Conduct law of Texas was unconstitutional and the law
violated the 14th Amendment Due process Clause. This Clause protects the right to personal freedom
in intimate decisions. The issue wasn t the right to engage in homosexual sodomy but the right to
privacy in the home and another is the right to freely engage in consensual, adult sex.
Lawrence v. Texas had an impact on the government in two ways. First, the ruling stated that private
and consensual homosexual sex is the right to liberty and preserved by the Constitution. Second,
Lawrence held that fundamental rights are very broad concepts of liberty under numerous and
different activities may be kept safe.

and for world class all inclusive resorts, Cuba s history and culture are just as impressive as the
pristine beaches and turquoise waters. While in Cuba, a side trip to one of these nine UNESCO sites

Most of these aspiring entrepreneurs will start a lifestyle business, primarily providing employment to
themselves and their families. The rewards of such a business is the ability to control the company,
able to continue to do what the owner loves without having too much risk, have a positive cash flow
from the early going. The owner only has to report to himself, have a relatively constant cash flow and
able to take time off whenever he wants. The risks are the inability to hire top talent (as talented
people usually avoid companies that over no stock options and only limited opportunities for personal
growth), not having the chance for huge gains. The trade off is a lot of freedom, but the company
cannot expect to grow bigger. A high potential business is focused on new markets with explosive
potential. As they are often technology driven, these ventures require heavy upfront cash investment to
quickly gain decisive advantages, so professional investors, particularly venture capital firms, usually
provide funding. High potential ventures strive to achieve lasting economic and social impact, and
aspire to achieve IPOs, or initial public offerings (getting listed on a stock exchange so they can sell
shares to the public) (Anon, 2008:1). The rewards are having the possibility for large returns on
investment, the ability to attract outside investment, and the ability to build a

Investigate how the Concentration of a Sucrose Solution affects the Rate of Osmosis Introduction: Diffusion is the movement of particles from a high concentration to a low concentration until they are spread out evenly. An example of diffusion is when an aerosol is sprayed. The particles spread out from the high concentration at the nozzle into the rest of the room and that is how the smell moves. Osmosis is the passage of water molecules from a weaker solution to a stronger solution through a partially permeable membrane. Osmosis is a type of diffusion involving water the water molecules move from a weak solution (with a high concentration of water) into a strong solution (with a low concentration of water). The cell membrane in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason I predict that three will increase in mass and two decrease is because in my preliminary experiment this was shown to be the case in these concentrations, however this could change in my real experiment. The chips that increase in mass have taken on more water which means that at the beginning of the experiment the sucrose solution had a higher concentration of water than the chip and this is likely to apply to the weaker sucrose solutions as they have a low concentration of sugar and therefore a high percentage of water molecules. The strong sucrose solutions have a higher percentage of sugar molecules and therefore a lower percentage of water molecules and if the concentration of water in the potato chip is higher than in the solution then water will leave the potato chip by osmosis and therefore the chip will lose mass. The water molecules move into cells that contain a lower concentration due to the difference in osmotic potential between cells. The water molecules move through a semi permeable membrane (the cell membrane) which has big enough holes in it to let through the small water molecules, but not the bigger sucrose molecules. At a certain concentration of sucrose solution the concentration of water will be the same in both the chip and the solution which means there will be no transferral of water between the two ... The Titanic belonged to The White Star Cross line, along with her sisters, Olympic and Britannic. The Titanic hit the iceberg April 14 and went down April 15th. J.Bruce Ismay is at fault for the sinking of the Titanic. Ismay is at fault because he owned the Titanic, he left the ship, he declined 48 lifeboats. For example, he owned the Titanic. In the article it states, Also consider that Ismay owned the White Star Line, which means he owned the Titanic. Also in the article, If a person owns something that is used for the public, and it fails in some way, or if death or injury occurs on that public property, it seems whoever owns it should take some responsibility. In other words, the Titanic was used for public use, so if it causes injury or death, the owner should be held responsible. He not only owned it but he had a say in some of the construction. ... • 6. Father Daughter Relationship In Hamlet The father, or father figure, has the ability like no other to shape the life of his young daughter. This is because of the powerful influence that fathers hold, which gives them the ability to not only impress upon a daughter s actions, but also her self confidence, esteem, image, and even her opinions of men. Depending on the father, or person in the conventional father s place, communication styles and teaching methods widely vary in the father daughter relationship. This is perfectly displayed in Shakespeare s Hamlet , through Polonius fatherly advice given to Ophelia, and through the moral lesson found at the end of Little Red Riding Hood , the Grimm Brothers version. Contrastly, in Little Red Riding Hood , the father s goal is to warn his daughter of all men, not just one in specific. However, this moral can be interpreted that the daughter must be cautious of men, more specifically pimps and those who wish to exploit or harm her sexually. This point is successfully expressed through the use of wolves in the child s folktale, but the story also comes with a moral for the young daughter to never talk to strangers because it is [the] gentle wolves who are the most dangerous ones of all (Grimm 1). Through this warning, the father is giving his daughter very broad advice how to protect herself from males of all shapes and forms. Consequently, both fathers in each plot are warning their daughters in order to keep them out of danger and pain however, each message is regarding different men: Hamlet or pimps. To continue, both fathers make mention in their warnings that men are not to be trusted because they are governed by lust, which they do not have the ability control. To be more specific, in Hamlet , Polonius explains, These blazes, daughter, / Giving more light than heat, extinct in both / Even in their promise as it is a making, / You must not take for fire (I, iii, 115 120. • 7. Black Holes, By John Archibald Wheeler Black holes are one of the most mysterious aspects of the Universe. Scientists know that black holes contain an insane amount of matter packed into a small space with a gravitational field so intense that not even light can escape it. This review will focus primarily on what is known about black holes, how scientists know black holes exist, current studies and experiments, and why they are studied. Based off the knowledge humans have already uncovered about black holes, they could change the future. Black holes could realistically be used to power starships, enabling humans to travel at near light speed to explore the Cosmos. Humans would be able to conquer the most unknown frontier yet. Immense amounts of energy are released during formations, and it is at the center of a black hole, its singularity, that the laws of physics break down. As claimed by NASA, during each formation of a black hole, the black hole will reach an event horizon , where time appears to slow to an outside observer. See Figure 1 to view the parts of a black hole. Eventually during formation, time will stop, the star will not collapse anymore, and it will be frozen. To an outside observer, an object that reaches the event horizon and falls into a black hole would appear to never fully go in. This is because of the process called Spaghettification , which explains that if a human were to fall in, the force of gravity of their feet would be millions of times greater than the force on their head, so in a literal sense, they would stretch out and become flat before going in. It would literally appear to be an illusion because to the human falling in, time passes normally, yet slows for an outside observer. Time was discovered to slow near black holes when it was observed that light curves and bends when nearing a black hole. The only way to explain this bend is with Einstein s theory of general relativity and his concept of space time. Space time is the idea that space is actually a fabric that is warped by gravity. Einstein concluded that space and time cannot be effected without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the United States Department of Energy, when ancient living plants and animals died, they decomposed and became buried under layers of mud, rock, and sand. After millions of years, these plants and animals slowly decomposed into organic material. Depending on what combination of plant and/or animal debris was decomposed, different types of fossil fuels were formed. These fossil fuels are then converted into coal, oil, and natural gas (United States Department of Energy). It also symbolizes movement because jazz is fast pace music and fast dancing so that is another reason why Toni Morrison picked the title of this book. It was a lot of movement in the book with some of the main characters in the story and their movement was fast just like jazz. I believe she also picked this title because jazz also means honest, benevolent, brilliant, and full of high inspirations and that is what some of the characters showed in the story. The meaning jazz can also tie into the story because some of them showed a control over others affairs. Pierce regarding the effects of early educational and extra curricular activities on the overall development of children (Pierce, 2002, p.39 43). The three flaws analyzed from the article Who s Raising Baby? Challenges to Modern Day Parenting, are the lack of supporting data analysis, presence of confounding variables, and lack of statistical evidence to support the claim. The strength of the research is found in the use of multiple credible sources to support the claim that child development is hindered by early pressures from education and auxiliary activities. Summary In the article, Anne R. Pierce provides a discourse to support her claim that children are spending more time outside the home because of an increase in educational and extra curricular activities from a young age which is hindering children s development. She also discusses how even when children are at home there is a lack of developmentally stimulating activities taking place (Pierce, 2002, p. 39). Pierce cites this occurrence as being a result of the increased desire of parents for their children to be more competitive and to have an advantage in the future, which creates a philosophy of child rearing as a race... [which] compels families toward incessant action (Pierce, 2002, p. 40). The article goes through different aspects of psychological, emotional, and social development ... Right now Currently, there is the need to help improve the level of commitment and employee motivation among the staff at the radio station. Long term In the long run, there will be the need to alter the organizational structure to set up clear and efficient lines of command, developing a clear mission and vision that would guide the activities of the firm and enhancing the working conditions at the radio station by improving the nature of their working relationship by offering long term contracts. To achieve this, there are two options that may be pursued. First demonstrate enhanced management at the radio station and thus portray WEAA as a going concern. This would involve adoption of stricter internal control policies in terms of employee conduct and improving the firm s financial performance by engaging in more fundraising activities that would inject more capital and thus, improve WEAA bottom s line. The other option would be to opt for a more strategic partnership with the University by highlighting the benefits that would accrue to the institution from the radio station. The first one is that Apple is no longer a product business but it is more about a platform business even though many people see apple dependent on their bestseller the Iphone. The continuous development of the platform potential is where the leadership of apple lies. For instance, the Iphone design didn t change much since its launch but the hardware component are changing constantly as we can see in the Iphone 5S where the major change is the A7 new chips and the capacity of displaying at 64 bits instead of the 32 bits used by all its competitors. This strategy is very good for any company competing in the technological industry as it helps focus more on their business transformation and hardware innovation. For instance, Apple is building around its ecosystems and platforms all its revenue streams, the different products in the chain and the different services they offer. The second important innovation of Apple is their focus on product design. As we know design is a necessity in a fierce market. In such pure competition the firms have no control over the prices. These companies are often termed as Price Takers . The pricing strategy is no in hands of the company it is determined by market forces. The firms operating in a pure competition manufacture standardized products which do not offer them a chance to differentiate their products on the basis of some unique feature of the product. The firms also do not spend on advertising their products because of the standardized nature of the products the firms manufacture. The demand of the products in pure competition is perfectly elastic. This principle maximizes the productivity by efficiently allocating the resources in the right areas. The firms do not have any market power as they have no or very little impact on the overall market structure. In order for a firm to maximize the profits the pricing strategy that is used is cost plus pricing where the firm charges the consumer for the cost and the per unit profit that they like to charge on the basis on the basis of market analysis. (Akerlof, 1970) The pricing strategy does not play an integral role in the development of the business in pure competition therefore other strategies contribute more to the success of a company.
