The Egyptian hieroglyphs were a prescribed writing system by the ancient Egyptians to represent
their language, it was a combined system with logographic and alphabetic elements. Logographic

Baby Driver Reflection
I was hesitant to watch Baby Driver, despite liking the trailers and talent involved, because I
have yet to see a full Edgar Wright film. I ve seen parts of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott
Pilgrim vs. the World. I liked what I saw, but I wasn t sure I wanted to have my introduction to
Wright be his fifth film. Well, my willpower broke and I m happier for it.
Baby Driver focuses on the eponymous Baby (Ansel Elgort), a getaway driver working for a crime
boss (the now disgraced Kevin Spacey). Things get more complicated when Baby meets Debora
(Lilly James), a waitress who steals his heart, and gets involved in a job with some volatile
coconspirators.
Of the several joys of this film, not the least of them is acting. That starts with Elgort, who is
impressive as Baby. He makes him someone we instantly like, with his cool demeanor and
infectious enthusiasm for music. We root for him right away, and that holds when we learn more
about him and Elgort convincingly portrays those depths.
As much as I liked Elgort, I probably liked James work even more. She does a lot with little to
work with as Debora. Her character doesn t have much depth on the page, but James has a
magnetic screen presence. She nails each scene and makes you believe her character is a real
person with many dimensions, even though the movie doesn t really explore them.

In the allegory of the cave Plato tries to show us two scenarios where the prisoners experience
emotional and intellectual revelations throughout their lives. Plato s theory was that the ones who
truly understand knowledge should guide the ignorant people out of their unenlightened states of
being and into true knowledge. The cave symbolizes the people who think that knowledge come
from what they see and hear in the world. It also indicates people that make assumptions about life
based on the substantial things they experience through hearing and seeing. Plato s main focus was
to convey a story to the world about the difference between beliefs and truth. Anyone can believe in
something they see, but that belief is really just a shadow of the truth.
Already from Plato s illustration of the prisoners, one can tell that they have very little knowledge
of their surroundings. Their lack of knowledge restricts them from knowing what s going on in the
real world. The prisoner s assumption of reality is all the shadows that appear on the wall. As far
as life goes, they believe the shadows are all there is and they don t question it. Plato referred to

For many books, details are missed or changed when a movie is made. Though most of the time
this can lead to problems, this is not the case with 12 Angry Men. 12 Angry Men is about 12 Jurors
trying to decide whether a boy is guilty or innocent. Following the closing arguments in a murder
trial, the boy seems undeniably guilty, and likewise, 11 of the jurors start with a vote of guilty. The
only juror standing up for him is juror number 8, Henry Fonda, and the rest of the story follows
how he uses his arguments and convinces the rest of the jurors to vote acquittal. Unlike many other
book movie duos, in this case the director is able to not only retain all important details, he is able
to improve on the book by removing unnecessary details, convey emotion realistically, and
background noise. Firstly, the removal of unnecessary details helps improve the movie when the
dialogue is removed during Juror #10 s rant, and when Juror #7 s anti immigrant personality is
omitted from the movie. When Juror #10 starts talking about that type of people and how life don t
mean as much to them, (Rose 64) in the book the other jurors try to tell him to stop, which conveys
the wrong feeling because it shows they are listening to him. On the other hand, in the movie, they
simply walk to a corner of the room and ignore him, which shows that they don t want to listen and
will continue to ignore him, which actually showed how they felt better than when they tried to talk.

King Kong 1933 King Kong is the perfect example of the early development of motion picture
music in the twentieth century. The music was not only essential to the film, but musical scores
also made the film better for the audience. Clever composers created a true musical drama; Max
Steiner was known for his musical ability including films like Gone with the Wind. Steiner spent a
lot of amount on the music of film King Kong 1933. The music meant everything to that picture,
and the picture meant everything to RKO, because it saved the studio from bankruptcy.... The
impact of King Kong on the movie going public was astonishing. It emerged into a country
frightened, impoverished, in the grip of the Great Depression. The main instrument used in the
film music was orchestra which was perfectly aligned with the theme of characters in the film at
various points. Steiner developed the music in the symphonic fashion which allowed the film to
hit a high score musically and became a symphonic fashion. The usage of the cycle of operas
was brilliant with a soothing tune to the ears. The Main Title music opens with King Kong s
three note motive; heard throughout the entire score in many sections and guises, but always
identifying King Kong himself. The film has a fifty foot giant that depicted a lot of terror to the
audience which was facilitated by music; the main title continues with the stolen love of the
heroine of the movie. Ann Darrow played the heroine who was saved dramatically by the king
kong, and she fell in love with him. Her love for her lifesaver and her further development of the
relationship with the gorilla was the core of music and the film. The jungle dance was a faster
tune with continuous rhythm, while after the jungle dance, music became much softer, romantic
and lush.The entrance of the Kong was a long sequence which was created by Steiner in an

How The Different Mixing Methods Affected The Final Volume...
Figure one shows how the different mixing methods affected the final volume of the mayonnaise.
It is expected that as the mixing methods gained speed and applied more shear force, the
mayonnaise would have more volume. This was seen in the data. The biggest volume of
mayonnaise achieved was done by a blender and by a homogenizer. The blender that yielded a low
volume product was because the emulsionbroke, which explains why a large volume was not seen.
The high speed homogenizer also had problems with the mayo, which explains their low volume
yield. A mayonnaisemade with a lot of shear force is expected to have a greater volume because
the higher the sheer force, the smaller the oil droplets would be. This means that there were
smaller oil droplets which allowed more total droplets to be incorporated into the mayonnaise.
More droplets leads to a higher volume because there is more surface area in the mixture of the
internal and external phase. The emulsion also remained stable due to the smaller droplets, which
will be looked at in detail later. Since the mayo was more stable, none of the emulsion broke during
the time between preparing the mayonnaise for analysis and when it was actually analyzed.
Overall, the results seen in figure one were generally expected.

Character Analysis Of Mary Warren In The Crucible
There Once Was a Mouse The Salem Witch Trials: a time where the innocent were guilty and the
guilty got away with murder. This horrendous event can be further explained through Arthur
Miller s play, The Crucible. Miller has won many awards in his time for writing many dramas
that are very popular amongst the people and The Crucible just so happens to be one of them. It
tells a story about a harsh time that many people faced when they were losing loved ones who
were found guilty since they didn t confess to a crime that they never committed. While reading
the play, a person will find a theme of power. One specific character, Mary Warren, helps show
this theme because as soon as she gains power, her character changes drastically. Throughout
The Crucible, Mary Warren is portrayed as a very dynamic character since she begins as being
very wimpy, then she gains confidence and becomes brave, and then she goes right back to
being timid and controlled by Abigail. In the beginning of the play, Mary Warren s character is
well known as being wimpy and afraid. She is under Abigail s control and will do everything she
says. According to Sara Constantakis in Literature Resource Center, she is weak and easily
influenced. She is one of the girls who took part in the voodoo ritual and is terrified when the
talk of witchcraft begins, as she knows people who are convicted of being witches are hanged.
This opinion of Mary is further proven by her action of not telling the truth about what happened
in the woods because she knows Abigail would kill her. Abigail even screams I say shut it, Mary
Warren! (Miller, Act I). Mary is always listening to Abigail s demands, even when she knows the
right thing to do. Mary Warren is seen as a poor little mouse who is too quiet to ever stand up for
herself. In addition to this, Mary wants to confess about what happened in the woods, but
Abigail won t let her. Mary cries, Abby, we ve got to tell. Witchery s a hangin error, a hangin like

As defined by Aristotle, A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that
inevitably leads to his or her own destruction. In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Prince
Hamlet is the tragic hero. Prince Hamlet can even be considered a quintessential tragic hero due to
how closely he relates to Aristotle s definition. Initially he has noble motives which were to avenge
his father s death but by the end, his flaws and bad decisions lead him to his death. The fact that
Prince Hamlets best trait is also his downfall makes him one of the most tragic heroes in
Shakespeare s work. In these ways and more, Prince Hamlet fulfills Aristotle s definition of a tragic
hero.
First, as Aristotle indicates, a tragic hero must face a serious decision that they have to make.
Prince Hamlet has to make many very serious decisions throughout the play Hamlet by William
Shakespeare, starting in act III. The first decision Prince Hamlet has to make is whether or not
he should kill his uncle Claudius. At the end of act III scene iii Prince Hamlet plans to kill
Claudius but walks in on him while he appears to be praying. Prince Hamlet believes that if he
kills Claudius while in prayer, Claudius will go to heaven and will not be punished for murdering
his father. This decision is crucial in the play because it causes a chain reaction of events. Another
important decision Prince Hamlet makes is choosing to fight Laertes. In act IV, scene vii Claudius
and Laertes plan to lure Prince Hamlet into a dull when he returns to Denmark. When he arrives,
Prince Hamlet goes to the churchyard with Horatio. Soon the funeral procession for Ophelia enters
the churchyard. Prince Hamlet rushes to her grave and begins arguing with Laertes. This argument
leads to Prince Hamlet agreeing to the dual. This is a serious decision because it ultimately leads to
his death.
Another way in which Prince Hamlet meets Aristotle s tragic hero definition lies in his error of
judgement. Prince Hamlet s first error of judgement occurs when he kills Polonius after mistaking
him for Claudius. In act III scene iv, the queen and Polonius wait for Prince Hamlet s arrival.
