Madonna Research Paper
When you think of pop music what do you think? Do you think of pop icons of today s music like
Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, or even Britney Spears? Pop music is the genre of popular music that
produces the most hits. Pop music often changes over a decade, always creating a new sound for every
generation to come. Most of the today s top pop artists got their sound and imagery from an artist that
inspire them. One artist, I know who has constantly reinvented herself and still is breaking charts till
this day is Madonna. Madonna is a singer, dancer, actress/ director, and mother of four. Madonna

The Importance Of Superstitions
There are two types of people in this world, the people who follow superstitions and people that dont.
Superstitions play a big role in today s society to the point where people will go about their day due to
a superstition. If a superstition that told them they were going to have bad luck because of walking
under a ladder, they are probably going to be more likely to believe something that is not true. An
event like this took place in the book ¨Julius Caesar¨ when Julius was told to beware of the ides of
march he did not listen. Some say that believing this saying would have saved his life. However it
must be taken into account the other reasons why it could have happened. In this essay we will
analyze and explain on why superstitions are not to be trusted and followed.
One way superstitions are influencing our lives is people believing certain triggers of good and bad
luck, according to the us news ¨25 percent of people in the U.S. say they are very or somewhat
superstitious in general¨ (Colino 1). When people see a black cat or a penny on the wrong side, it is
generally associated with bad luck. In reality a perfectly good penny was just passed up due to ¨bad
luck¨. Most of the time its just as harmless as passing up a penny, but that s not the case with
everyone. Sometimes people let superstitions keep them from doing everyday tasks. This is important
because people are letting rumors and myths that have a pretty big chance of being incorrect
completely change

Caste System In Ancient Greece
The caste system in ancient India and citizenship in ancient Greece both have their strengths and
weaknesses in their effectiveness concerning social organization in society. India and Greece
developed around the same time, within a thousand years of urban revolution as ancient city based
civilizations, even so these two societies developed in entirely different ways. (Worlds, 2384) In
Ancient India it was the caste system and in ancient Greece it was citizenship, the caste system a
group of people who will together, and also marry one another, thus creating groups and then
excluding others from these two intimacies. (Worlds, 2435) While citizenship in ancient Greece, was
being a citizen in that said country, it is also means having an allegiance to the polis, the city state.

Developing A Competitive And International Business...
To begin with, Scholes, Johnson and Ambrosini (1998) explained strategy as the direction of a firm for
the long term which accomplishes benefit for the firm through its allocation of resources within a
dynamic environment to meet markets requirements and to achieve stakeholder expectations.
Furthermore, Kelly and Zaman (2014) noted that strategies are strongly impacted by the environment
of a firm. It is recommended that the strategies also implicate considerations about organization s
internal factors and include choices about structure, technology and other factors. Both planned and
emergent approaches must be studied under the progressively change, highly competitive and
international business environment. External forces are driving companies to cut costs, improve
processes and recognize new opportunities for growing. This paper will define and compare emergent
and planned approaches to strategy formulation, and explain how utilizing organizational resources
and capabilities play a key role in creating competitive advantage. Some valuable tools such as Porter
s value chain and Economic moat will be introduced to show how internal and external factors can be
evaluated. Apple company was selected to exemplify those aspects. Brief of Apple Company Based on

High School Students
Young adults, or adolescents, begin their last four grades of statutory education in a place called high
school. The purpose of this arduous journey is to teach a large range of prosperous skills, information,
and knowledge that will aid students throughout college and ultimately the real world. In the society
we live in today, however, people never question the pressure this quantitative form of education
imposes upon students. This crushing, mortifying stress plummets the mental and physical health of
pupils sometimes to the point of no return. Colleges contribute greatly to this injustice as well: tuition
fees and acceptance rates result being the primary concerns of families across the nation. Today s
society should not endorse the over pressurization of college, as that in return results in the declination
of health of high school students.
¬Stress plagues almost every high school student, and while miniscule amounts may not result in
negative consequences, excessive amounts will (Palmer). Pressure by parents and schools to achieve
top scores has created stress levels among students beginning as early as elementary school that are so
high that some educators regard it as a health epidemic, stated Denise Clark Pope, a lecturer in the
School of Education and author of Doing School: How We Are Creating a Generation of Stressed Out,
Materialistic and Miseducated Students. Societal pressure about achieving high quality grades
originates as far back as elementary school,

Marine and Lacustrine Soil Types
Marine and Lacustrine Deposits
ORIGINS AND GEOTECHNICAL ISSUES

The origins of soil deposits on the earth s crust can reveal significant findings in the chemical and
mechanical characteristics of the soils themselves. It is important to uncover such origins to find how
and where such deposits may have formed over tens of thousands of years ago. Marine and Lacustrine
deposits are two soil types that are commonly encountered during soil exploration, both of which are
primarily traced back to either glacial o r more broadly, alluvial origins (Hunt 2005 ). They are

The problematic behavior of marine soils also extend to more subtle, but still concerning scenarios
which can be described as potential acid sulfate soils (PASS). Potential meaning under the right
conditions can produce a harmful and corrosive acid environment. The formation and deposition of
acid sulfate soil (ASS) has occurred of the past 10 000
2000 years, after the last major sea level rise. They are commonly encountered in low lying areas of
coastline such as marine estuaries and flood plains and contain soil types of marine sediments. The
ASS s tend to lay dormant under alluvial soils or dunes until they are disturbed either by excavation or
indirectly due to lowering of the water table by changed drainage conditions.

Psychoanalysis And Psychoanalysis Of Trauma
This chapter starts out about a young woman who was a prisoner from the middle east who stated, If I
talked about it, I would feel that it would happen again here. She was tortured both physically and
mentally. Through all she has been through she finds it very difficult to even think about
communicating to someone about it. It shows that their needs to be a sympathy towards the
occurrences of trauma. They live with the pain deep inside. They have a hard time erasing it and need
to learn to leave it in the past. They also do not believe they can get better. Ways to help these patients
is with psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis as well as cognitive techniques.
Psychoanalytical focuses on the effects of trauma in relation to their personality and other dealings in
their life. Trauma is the crushing of the individuals self worth leaving them feeling helpless in a
terrible situation as said by Freud. Freud said that victims of trauma relive the situations they
encountered in their mind. Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) main defense mechanism and coping
method is dissociation. The symptoms of this disorder are recurrent dreams and intrusions of
memories. The victim tries to avoid the memories and implications of their trauma to treat the victim
must retell and experience the trauma but in a safe controlled space. Effects from trauma can last for
many, many years. Those who suffer may not have the strength to recover. The torturer is making the
victim feel helpless. They prey on their fears. The victim feels they have no safe place and they may
become submissive to their torturer. They are always in fear of when their death will occur. They lose
their sense of safety and happy memories. It is replaced by fear, pain, and depression. During torture
the victim may also feel guilty or bad about themselves since they may have given information that
would cause pain and suffering to someone else. The fear for their own life makes it hard to decide
what to do in a torture situation. There are different effects of torture on the victims personality and
their life according to the Swiss Psychoanalyst Amati. One, the relation to the body is destroyed. They
endure tremendous pain, stress and near

Examples Of Epilogue To Brutus
Brutus listened to the rhythmic beat of the drummer as the vessel made its way north under a starry
night. Artemis s lantern was half lit and reflected from the rippling surface of Poseidon s realm. This
restful aura should have been enough to lull Brutus and Ignoge into slumber. But it did not. He fell
back on the deck and clung to his new found friend who now used his chest as a pillow. Being
deprived of a mother, this was the first time he felt any real affection for a female. It was a new and
different experience for him. Although she closed her eyes, she did not sleep. She reviewed the day s
events. I was preparing the Palladium for the trip back to Athens when mayhem consumed the
Ravenna. My negotiations with the city s leaders were a success. She mulled them over. My Pentecost,
with troop of hoplites was to take me back to Athens. Now I am a captive of this very likeable king
who also wanted the Palladium. Her thoughts continued. Why didn t he just try to ransom the
Palladium, rather than butchering the temple guardians and robbing Athena s Temple. That was a

Comparing Things Fall Apart And Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
The works of Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi prove that all
cultures have different practices and traditions, but all humans share the same hopes, values, and basis
of personality. Specifically, the two main characters of these books are different in appearance and
culture, but strikingly similar in their practices. Marjane Satrapi is a developing, strong minded girl
growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. On the contrary, Okonkwo is a guarded, powerful,

characters seem like complete opposites, but in the core of both living beings, there exists similar

needed, literally. When the clansmen revealed to Okonkwo that the Oracle deemed it necessary that
Ikemefuna be killed, they told Okonkwo not to participate in the task. However, He was afraid of
being thought weak and disapproval (61). His demand for approval truly overshadowed all sense of
value that he held, thus proving that these base factors surpass any pre existing cultural beliefs. The
leaders of Umuofia knew Okonkwo s tendencies to be more aggressive, but they also knew that he
fought for his place in society. Unfortunately, in the end, this authority did not sway the opinion of the
people and Okonkwo hanged himself in defeat. Unlike Marjane, Okonkwo failed to realize that
differences in appearance, culture, or opinions do not separate people. Despite his influence and level
of respect, the people chose to trust the missionaries instead of Okonkwo, and this disapproval
destroyed an essential part of him. Comparable to Marjane, both characters seek approval for their
actions because they are controlled by the opinion of those

The War That Didn t End All Wars
Four years, three months and two weeks later, in 1918, the global series of destructive events, known
as World War 1, that had begun when Serbian nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of
Austria, heir to the throne of Austria Hungary finally came to an end. Resulting in the victory of the
allied forces, establishing a safer place for democracy for a very short period of time. However it was
not without a fight that this achievement came about, millions of troops lost their lives to the deadly
chemical weapons, tanks and other weaponry. The war had so many devastating effects that British
author H. G. Wells called it The war to end war , which now can be seen as an erroneous comment. In
his article, The War That Didn t End All Wars war studies professor at King s college London, Sir
Lawrence D. Freedman, quotes George Kennan s words to describe the war as the great seminal
catastrophe as the Great War led to the creation of a broken intergovernmental organization known as
the League of Nation, left Germany completely destroyed financially and contributed to the collapse
of the Austrian, Turkish and Russian Empire. World War 1 did not end war; instead it not only paved
the way for the biggest war in history of mankind, World War 2, but also one of the worst genocides

Asian Immigrants And The American Dream
The American Dream, a belief that draws immigrants to the US with the hope being able to work hard
for a better life. One of the groups that believe in this dream are Asian Immigrants. Children of these
Asian immigrants have a unique expectation to live up to. Their parents came to America in search of
a better life, so they are pushed to achieve this desired life. Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan exposes this
expectation through the stories of the character s childhoods. But in the real world, these standard
push Asian students to the top of their classes and centralized Asian student goals around their grades.
Some parents, for example, Amy Chua, have an even higher expectation for their children. Why
Chinese mothers are superior, tells of the stereotypical tiger mom, who expects the most of their
children, excelling them even further into the vision of the American dream. But even with all the
excellence the Asian students emits, university acceptance is another story. Articles like The model
minority is losing patience in the Economist and Justice Department investigating Harvard s
affirmative action policies by Susan Svrluga and Nick Anderson discuss the disadvantage Asians have
when applying to the top universities. With so many Asians prospering in school, the racial quotas
universities are suspected of having increase the difficulty for an Asian to be accepted. Because even

Lord Of The Flies Identity Analysis
Philosophers from ancient Greece and Rome to modern scholars have contemplated what defines one
s identity. Everyone is a product of both their heredity and environment, and this is demonstrated in
modern texts and podcasts. Individuals have limited control on their environment, actions of others,
and genetics; however, memories and experiences influences how people behave and act. When
people are placed into a situation everyone responds in their own way, and one s past is a crucial part
of how an individual will respond in in new environment. For example, in Lord of the Flies, young
boys are placed on an island, and some choose to be assertive while others are passive. Anyone could
have risen up and take charge, despite this, only Ralph and Jack decide to stand up as leaders. These
two boys stood up, due their experiences in their past environments. Ralph has a father who is a naval
officer who most likely taught him strong leadership qualities.People are born into families that
establish principles and beliefs .For Jack, he is self entitled since he was the head choir boy because of
being gifted with a singing voice. People s past and abilities are able to form one s identity. Memories
and experiences are what make each individual unique and have their own identity. Ultimately human
nature will take control an individual s identity, and negative attributes will show though anyone s
personality. Additionally, In Lord of the Flies, all the boys lose their sanity and

The riddle itself plays with several aspects of the shields identity; it is a heroic object, used vigorously

Juxtaposition In Shakespeare
In much of literature there exists the juxtaposition of the natural world vs. the unnatural. Human s
effect on nature and how it, in turn, influences us, is a crucial theme in many classic works. In
Shakespeare s play As You Like It, the initial setting is in the court, however, the characters are soon
introduced to the Forest of Ardenne where the magic and the differences of the natural world are clear.
Shakespeare uses this juxtaposition of settings to contrast the values of each environment and create
resolution for all characters at the end of the play. In the second scene of AYLI, it is established that
Duke Senior, Rosalind s father, has been banished to the Forest of Ardenne by his brother, Duke
Frederick. Although banished usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the court, there is Duke Senior, Duke Frederick, Rosalind, Touchstone, Celia, Orlando and
Oliver, characters that are often described as pretty or able to speak well. This highlights their more
dignified, educated backgrounds. Many of them are witty and engage in clever banter throughout the
play that gives them a more sophisticated quality. Then there are the country characters: Silvius,
Corin, Phebe, William, and Audrey. These characters are obviously less educated, having spent their
entire lives in the forest, farming. Their lack of intelligence in the court sense, is shown through the
incompatibility of dialogue between city and country characters. For example, Audrey and Touchstone
often have issue while talking because Audrey does not know the definition of certain words such as
foul and poetical. When she attempts to use these words, incorrectly so, her country idiocy is
amplified. The discrepancy between country and court characters is also demonstrated in Touchstone s
encounter with William, Audrey s former lover who describes himself as witty. Touchstone arrogantly
brushes this notion aside, asserting that only fools call themselves witty. This scene portrays William
as a kind of country bumpkin and establishes the idea that while the country may seem like a good
solution for city woes, it should not necessarily be considered a permanent solution, because the
benefits of court life, in this case education, are

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cervical Spine Trauma
As a physical therapist working in an outpatient facility, majority of the patients that I manage suffer
from neck injuries sustained from motor vehicular accidents or a fall incident. Handling patient with
cervical spine injury is challenging as it is vulnerable to further injury should it not be rehabilitated
with extreme caution. It is essential that the clinician should not rely solely on diagnostic reports and
should perform significant detailed assessments that include ligamentous stability tests with
individuals that had cervical spine trauma (Mckinnis, 2014 p. 159). It should be noted that in any
motor vehicular accident it is important to identify injury patterns and trauma protocols should be
applied. Injuries brought about by motor vehicle accidents are not always apparent. For instance,
during evaluation there is no evidence of any soft tissue damage or any manifestation of fractures, but
one can still end up with long term disability due to back or neck pain. With that, an exhaustive

Factors Caused By Recreational Scuba Diving And Snorkeling...
Globally, marine ecosystems, in particular, coral reefs, are experiencing increasing pressure due to the
growth in recreational scuba diving, and snorkeling. Pressure refers to the frequency, and quantity of
divers, and dive boats on any particular reef. This pressure often results in damage to the reef, and is
caused by divers, snorkelers, and even dive boat anchors, and anchor lines, furthermore, this damage
takes significant time to repair, due to the rate at which coral grows, and repairs itself. Although this
damage is not irreparable, continual pressure by recreational dive and snorkeling industries, can lead
to damage beyond the reef s ability to recover. Damaged reefs result in loss of sea life, vibrancy, and
color, the primary draw for divers, snorkelers, and other marine enthusiasts. Consequently, this
damage extends to the economies of the local communities, in which water related activities are a
primary source of revenue. To sustain these local communities economies, and tourist enjoyment,
private SCUBA organizations can coordinate, and facilitate options to reduce the recreational damage
of the ocean s reef system through education, artificial reef attractions, and alternative dive programs.
SCUBA diving is a growing, and global recreational sport, with one certification agency, PADI,
claiming an annual average of 900,000 new diver certifications globally . Of course, not all of these
new divers will continue on to become frequent, or repeat divers, however,

Taking a Look at Secular Humanism
All systems of thought and each worldview have a notion of God. Secular humanism is defined as a
belief system where humanity is the sovereign of all beings, and where reality and information rests in
science and reason. The secular humanistic worldview started as a substitute among religions.
Humanism is not a religious belief system in itself, while secular means not religious. A religion is any
system of belief that informs an individual s worldview. The secular humanistic worldview has a
distinctive belief on many disciplines such as theology, ethics, and evolution among others. Thus, the
thesis of this paper is; the secular humanism worldview is religious, as secular humanists uphold
beliefs and values that hold them with dedication. The purpose of this research paper is to discuss
whether the secular humanistic worldview is indeed religious and how it has influenced the American
Culture. Secular humanism is nontheistic and religious because it directs itself towards beliefs and
practices that are in active opposition to customary theism. According to the Humanistic Manifestos I
and II, secular humanism is a religious and philosophical moral point of view (House 381).
The founders of the secular humanistic worldview considered it a religion. The ideals of the
movement can be traced to ancient philosophers, scientists and poets of classical Rome and Greece
and to some extent the Chinese Confucian society, Carvaka movements of India and other ancient

Why Did the Railroad Network Grow so Rapidly After the...
Adults are motivated entirely different in the way they learn. Adults are motivated to learn for various
reasons such as professional development, potential advancement at work or simply continuing to
improve ones lives, as one gets older. However, it is but practical to consider the ideas on how adults
are motivated to learn, what principles of learning works, so that adult educators could likewise
respond appropriately. The participatory worldview that author Lyle Yorks (2005) describes draws
heavily on the theory and practice in adult learning and action research. This creates a kind of social

Providing renewed hope in the face of adversities and depressing events that may otherwise cause
individuals to descend into the negative behavior. Brookfield (2005) addressed the third aspect of
adult learning as transformative. Adult learners are exposed to learning in the workplace. Within the
workplace, adult workers learn to be critical in analyzing their assumptions regarding the structure
business model before reaching a decision that may affect a company s performance. They view this
in conjunction with market realities before arriving at decision that may make or break the company.
For society in general, this suggest that lifelong learning is obtained as the main strategy in ensuring
the future abundance of countries such as the UK since it ensures its vision to build a new culture of
learning (Boshier, 2006, p.11). This new culture of learning can involve online learning which is very
useful in the adult learning process. It is important to help students become technically savvy in our
classrooms. What people know about online learners may not be properly addressed through one s
teaching so that educators need to collaborate so that they can share contemporary researches on the
subject (Martinez, 2010, p. 353). In Conclusion, motivation theories formed the cornerstone of adult
learning. Indeed, technology is here to stay and it has become part of the education environment.

The Annexation Of Tibet
On September 21st 1987 the Dalai Lama gave a speech to the U.S. Congressional Human Rights

today is still an independent state under illegal occupation. In 1950 the People s Republic of China
occupied the territory of Tibet claiming it was its right. For this reason, there has been an ongoing
debate between China, Tibet and the rest of the world about the question if Tibet has the right to self

II. Methods:
The materials that were used to complete this lab was an instruction packet, probe thermometer, IR

III. Results:
For this lab my classmates and I all had to go to different locations to collect the data that was needed.
Some of us were out in the sun, others were in the shade so we all got different answers on our sheet.
For my location I was out in front of the Center for Environmental and Life Sciences (CELS). At that
location we looked at three sub location for our data, there were the grass, mulch, and rocks. The sites
had many characteristics but the three that my group choose to focus on was the location had direct
sun light that happened to be shining from the right side. The wind was blowing at CELS but it felt
like it had a tunnel breeze. The last thing that we said was it had a very diverse landscape. We also
gave characteristics for the three sub locations that we observed. For number one we looked at the
grass and it was yellow with wet soil. Number two was the mulch and it was black, brown, and dry.
Number three was the rocks and they were large, smooth, and greyish. The characteristics of the three
sub locations affected out data in many different ways.
For my three locations the surface temperature was greater than the air temperature. I would expect
that because the surface is absorbing

Symbiotic Relationship Lab Report
Parasitic or Mutual Symbiotic Relationship?
Author: Natasha Patel. Lab Partner: Ariana Crolene. Mira Costa College 3333 Manchester Ave
Cardiff, CA 92007.
Abstract:
Our experiment is designed to show the symbiotic relationship between the mycorrhizal fungus and
spinach plant. We constructed a 2X2 table of live molasses and controlled groups. Our hypothesis is
that the live molasses with mycorrhizae group will extend the plants root bodies and increase the total
surface area of the plant. That being said, the fungus and the plant will have a symbiotic mutual
relationship towards each other. Our predictions came out to be false. The controlled groups had a
higher average in shoot length and wet mass, which indicates that the plant and fungus have a parasitic
relationship towards each other.
Introduction: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mycorrhizae benefited from the sugars but the plant did not benefit from the mycorrhizae, which
caused them to not extend their root bodies. The controlled groups had higher averages than the lived
averages. Also, the class averages were similar to our data as well. For future experiments, the plants
with mycorrhizae should be given more molasses, which will allow us to detect if the plant and fungus
have a symbiotic relationship or not. There have been many studies that provide mycorrhizae aiding
plants for nutrients, proper growth, and survival. However, there are experiments that will show
outliers and proving that not all studies are correct, which basically demonstrates the field of biology.
In biology, we constantly perform numerous experiments to validate our hypothesis. But, there are
exceptions when our hypothesis comes out to be false, which always gives us room to modify our
errors. Thus, biology is a never ending field and is constantly growing for new findings in

Police Accountability vs. Police Independence Essay
Introduction
The debate regarding police independence versus police accountability has been hotly contested since
at least the 1960s.1 At the heart of the debate are questions relating to the degree and manner of
oversight to which police forces should be subjected, while maintaining the independence of those
polices forces to carry out their duties free from undue political (or other) interferences. This essay
examines the principles underlying the independence of the office of constable , the notion of
responsible government, and how the interaction between these two ideas has been characterised in
the literature. It will be demonstrated that police independence and responsible government (that is,
police accountability) are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Responsible government
Whereas the principle of the independence of the office of the constable serves to ensure that police do
not become the slave of any state or interest group, the principle of responsible government can be
usefully conceived of as ensuring that police remain the servants of the public at large. Contrary to the
idea that the police office is not a servant of anyone, save of the law itself 6, responsible government
and police accountability measures aim to ensure that police forces are answerable to the very
communities which vest in the police force the right and responsibility for upholding the law.
In practice, police accountability measures are usually tied into extensive governance frameworks,
laws and procedures, including: administrative mechanisms for handling citizen complaints; civil
actions and criminal prosecutions in the courts; the exclusion of improperly obtained evidence in
criminal trials; internal

Antiquities Act
The first major piece of legislation that applied to the protection of indigenous remains and cultural
materials came with the passage of the Antiquities Act of 1906. The act had major implications for the
relationship between anthropology and Native Americans. The intent of the Antiquities Act was to
protect the cultural resources of the United States by creating a permitting process for archaeological
excavations and establish punishments for looting. Unfortunately, the act furthered the notion that
anthropologists held authority over indigenous material culture (Daehnke 2011). Instead of protecting
artifacts for indigenous parties, the act legislated the appropriation of culture by anthropologists.

the number so starkly, not saying anything further about it, Morrison pays testament to the horrendous

The Prevention And Access Of Care And Treatment ( Pact )...
Introduction The Prevention and Access to Care and Treatment (PACT) program was established in
19971 to improve the health of the most vulnerable HIV and AIDS patients in Boston through the use
of community health workers. Unlike many other types of healthcare providers, community health
workers are able to form unique bonds with patients based on shared backgrounds, cultures, and
languages. These community health workers provide individualized, culturally competent educational
interventions in an effort to maximize patients usage of available medical and social services.2
Patients are referred into PACT by social services or healthcare providers when other options for care
have been tried and were unsuccessful. Vulnerable populations such as racial and ethnic minorities,
drug users, and those living below the poverty line tend to be disproportionately affected by HIV and
AIDS3. Conventional care for these individuals can be particularly challenging with regards to access
to culturally sensitive care, consistency of treatment, and patient understanding of risk factors and of
the disease itself. Therefore, there is a great need for comprehensive, targeted programs such as PACT
to effectively address these issues. In order to make sure that PACT is adequately addressing the needs
of its target population, we will be conducting a program evaluation. This will allow us to assess the
importance, value and quality of the program, all of which are important to stakeholders. This

Essay on the Social Process Theories
The Social Process Theory
The social process theory suggests that criminals are raised in an environment that forms them to
make unlawful decisions. People are influenced by what they are taught and their surroundings such
as where they were raised, their guardians, and people they associated with. Individuals actions and
thought process is going to be based off of what their first instinct is and their first instinct is going to
be what they know best. For example, if a boy is raised in a home where their family shows their
anger by reacting physically, then that child will be more likely the one that is getting in fights at
school than the child who grew up in a home where fighting was never present. No one is born with

If someone gets involved with bad people for an extended period of time and is with them quite
frequently, anything that group does starts to eventually seem okay. A person mainly associating with
people that are constantly committing illegal acts as a way of everyday life will ultimately absorb the
same mind set. According to Sutherland s theory, individuals become law violators when they are in
contact with persons, groups, or events that produce an excess of definitions favorable toward
criminality and are isolated from counteraction forces (Siegal, 1992, p.227). Other criminal acts are
due to how much will power and individual has to obey the law which is known as the Social control
theory. Social theorists claim that a person s actions and feelings of strong emotions are influenced by
internal and external forces. People who do not have well valued morals and lack self control are more
likely to commit a crime. Individuals that are poor, do not have a good job, and or do not have a close
and respectable support system of friends and family, do not have much to lose. Everyone needs to
obtain some sort of social tie or bond in their life otherwise the person has no boundaries for
themselves. Travis Hirschi states, Lawbreaking is often the most immediate source of gratification or
conflict resolution, and no special motivation is required to explain such behavior (Hirschi, 1969). If a

Remembering episodes: a selective role for the hippocampus during retrieval.
Nature Neuroscience, Volume 3, pg 1149 1152.
Some researchers hypothesize that the hippocampus is involved in some types of memory processes
but not others. This particular study measured brain activity using fMRI during two types of memory
tasks: remember (episodic memory) and know (familiarity). A memory was considered episodic if the
person could recall the moment it was learned and familiar if they felt they recognized the word but
could not retrieve the specidic moment it was learned. The a priori (pre selected) region of interest(
ROI) in the hippocampus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among these different processes are encoding, storage, consolidation, and retrieval. This study
hypothesized that the hippocampus plays a different role in each of these. The method of this study is
especially unique because it used temporary chemical inactivation of the hippocampus, which had not
been done before. This temporary inactivation is unique because it lets the researchers selectively
assess the role of the hippocampus during each of the processes discussed above. To test encoding, the
inactivation occurred during learning of a maze task; to test retrieval, inactivation occurred during a
retention task. Results indicate the temporary inactivation of the hippocampus impairs both encoding
and retrieval. To test long term consolidation, rats were trained and then separate groups received
hippocampal treatment for different amounts of time between one and five days. Results showed that
temporary inactivation during this time period disrupts memory for the already learned task. This
study partially supports the result of the study by Eldridge et al. (2000) in that they both show the
hippocampus is necessary for memory retrieval. However, it does not address the retrieval of different
types of memory. This study also supports the idea from Wang et al. (2012) that the hippocampus may
be involved in consolidation and storage of new memories but not necessarily of older

One year my uncle bought me a game named Shadow of the Colossus. This game was completely
different from the other ones I played previously. In this game, the player starts out with the character
on a horse and his only weapon is a powerful sword, that when exposed to sunlight will lead the
player in the general direction of the next enemy. These enemies are giant, ancient creatures that roam
in various places around the world, each one having unique weaknesses and strengths. To find the
Colossus, the player had to ride across the landscape in solitude, identifying small clues that would
lead them to where the creature was hiding. Once the player arrived, they would have to evaluate the
situation and find its weaknesses. When the player decided that they were ready to attack something
unexpected always came up and made the situation even more difficult than expected resulting in
quick and accurate decision making. To me, this game is a prime example of how video games aid in
the development of the decision making process. Throughout this game players were presented with
problems that required them to think very critically in order to even finish the first battle. As the game
progresses the enemies only get harder and the solutions to the problems get harder as well. Attention
to detail in this game was very important. The more that this game was played, the more I started to

peacefully falling. You can also hear 65 screaming kids playing on the playground at lunch recess; you
yearn to get going to pack for your camping trip that you know will be fun. You quickly throw your
clothes, three pairs of boots (you insist that 2 pairs will simply not be enough), your helmet (knowing
that you will be riding your horse), and 4 sweatshirts. You throw your bag(s) into the car and start
calling to the rest of your family to hurry up. You throw yourself into the car and anxiously wait for
them. Feeling like they are taking an eternity, you call, again, for them hurry up. Finally, after what
felt like forever, they finally get into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You could almost taste the thick moisture in the air. The taste of the mouthwatering breakfast lingered
in your mouth throughout the morning. A wild imagination fills your mouth with the potluck that I
longed for later that evening. You can feel the grogginess of all of the campers in the group, even
though it was late in the morning. The morning sun rose to surround the landscape with its warmth.
The ever lingering moisture in the air was thick enough you could feel it. You can clearly see the
heavy dew on the grass. The thin layer of moisture covers every surface. The insanely beautiful
sunrise on the horizon showers you with a bright light that is bound to wake you completely. The
peacefully resting horses can be seen from your trailer s window. The slow moving preparation for the
day ahead is seen in many neighboring campsites. There is a group of boys desperately trying to start a
fire with whatever dry kindling they can find. Many of the adults are seen trying to clean up their
campsite from the night before. You can very clearly hear the movement of every squirrel within fifty
feet of your camper. The quiet murmur of each family rising to get ready is a prominent sound
throughout the campground. The sizzling of the newly built fire, and the water running in a nearby
trailer prove to be the only sounds not coming from nature that morning. The quiet sound of

3. Differences between APV and option valuation
Valuing MW Acquisition by using APV method assumes in practice that exploiting of all MW s
reserves is certain and happens right after the acquisition. In other words, the APV method excludes
the flexibility in future decision making. In this case, Apache has both an option to defer the exploiting
of reserves into future and Apache may also choose not to exploit the MW reserves at all.
As some of MW s reserves are actually real options, the APV valuation method actually
underestimates the real value of MW acquisition. If Apache defers the exploiting of the reserves, there
exists a possibility for the future cash flows becoming even more valuable. For example, Apache
could have more precise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is important to remember that the APV valuation and the option valuation calculations in
Exhibit 1 and 3 aren t straight forward comparable, since APV assumes financing the acquisition with
new $300 million debt and real option valuation is calculated assuming total equity financing. If the
tax rate remains constant, the real option valuation could be performed by taking the present value of
the tax shields into account. In this case the values obtained by real option valuation would be even
higher than the ones presented in the table.
As discounted cash flow method assumes all equity financed acquisition, it presents more comparable
value for the real option values shown. The value of Apache s possibility to decide whether to exploit
the reserves equals the difference between DCF value and the real option value.
4. Option valuation method
The future cash flows of MW s reserves contain a great amount of risk and have many possible future
outcomes. The real option valuation method takes into account the flexibility rising from this
uncertainty. Real options often are valued using financial option pricing techniques. However, there
are several things to be considered when treating reserves as options by using more specific Black
amp; Scholes model.
Firstly, there are some simplifications to be done to get all the necessary inputs for the Black amp;
Scholes model. One approximation to be made is the estimation of the

Climate Change And Global Warming
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 General
Climate change and global warming has been warned to no longer be viewed lightly. These changes
are considered to be one of the biggest threats that being faced by nature and humanity today.
According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), climate
change can be defined as the changes of climate which is attributed either directly or indirectly
towards human activities which also able to change the composition of the global atmosphere. As an
addition to this matter, the natural climate changes seemed to change over comparable period of time.
Generally, Malaysia might be one of the lucky countries that do not experience extensive damages due
to extreme climate changes. However, mild climate related disasters are quite frequent to happen
lately. These refer to occurrence of landslides due to excessive rainfall and strong winds happened at
the hilly and the latter, at the coastal areas causing severe damage (MET, 2010).
Environmentally, climate change in Malaysia means increase in total heavy rain falls, rising mean sea
level and possibly extreme weather. Extreme weather can be fierce and destructive. According to the
fifth Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, if greenhouse gas emissions are
reduced significantly, the rise in global temperature will be about 2º C towards the end of century.
However, if no action should be taken due to this matter, the temperature might increase up

Analysis Of Hey There Delilah
Confessing Love Through Song The purpose of this paper is to analyze the song Hey There Delilah by
the Plain White T s. This paper will identify the message and tone of the song, as well as the artist s
appeal to the audience by analyzing the organization of the song, and the specific rhetorical strategies
the artist used to connect to the audience. The song s organization, style, figurative language, and
hyperboles in the lyrics will also be analyzed to connect the artist s intention back to the audience. In
this song, the artist s main point and thesis, is that he is head over heels in love with a girl named
Delilah. He wants to tell the world, and Delilah herself, how much he loves her, and how their love
conquers the distance between them.
This song was released in May 2006 in the United states, with the intended audience being people
ranging in age from middle school age to college age. He chose this range in age to connect to a broad
amount of people, with the general assumption that they would be familiar with what love is, or have
experienced it themselves.
The artist wants the audience to feel his substantial affection for Delilah, and how it is unchanging
even though they are separated by distance. He appeals to the audience s emotions of admiration,
compassion, and longing for another person. The artist does this by singing about his extensive love
for Delilah, which may lead people to think of someone they themselves care deeply about, or an
example of love in their life.
The artist chooses an upbeat and happy tempo that repeats throughout the song. He chooses this
repeating tempo to draw the listener s attention to the lyrics of the song. The slow, yet happy tempo
paired with the artists bright and cheery voice creates a sense of ease and happiness within the song
itself, and the audience.
In this song, for the majority of the time the artist is confessing and explaining his love for Delilah to
the world, and Delilah herself. He does this by telling the audience exactly what he is thinking,
however, he does use imagery on occasion to accentuate his point. For example, the artist uses the
simile Times Square can t shine as bright as you, to compare Delilah s radiance to the lights of New

A Better Understanding Of Free Will
Jesus with two complete and separate natures, fully man in every way except for original sin, and
Jesus Divine one with God the father and the Holy Spirit. We are created with a desire in our hearts to
be drawn to the father and to do his will. We have the stain of original sin on our hearts since the fall.
Jesus has free will, his free will is not quite the same as ours, we are weak due to sin and Christ free
from sin is not tempered by sin. The purpose of this paper is to have a better understanding of free will
and to help us to have a deeper and closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
During the temptations of Christ in the desert we can see he was able to maintain his free will with his
human knowledge of the word of God. He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And he said to them, I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; Jesus
earnestly desired, this is free will, for he shows he has his own desires and he wishes to share himself
with his friends and ultimately with the whole Church. for I tell you I shall not eat it until it is fulfilled
in the kingdom of God. And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, Take this, and
divide it among yourselves; ...And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave
it to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you. Jesus identifies the Eucharist with his body,
he takes ownership and what he has and he gives it away of his own free will. Do this in remembrance
of me. And likewise the cup after supper, saying, This cup which is poured out for you is the new
covenant in my blood. He clearly again says it is his blood and by his free will he gives it, all of this
completely in line with the fathers will.
And he came out, and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed
him. And when he came to the place he said to them,...and knelt down and prayed, Father, if thou art
willing, remove this cup from me ; He says remove from me as to say this is my will however my
desire to do your will is greater. nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And when he rose from
prayer, he came to the disciples

  • 3. The Importance Of Superstitions There are two types of people in this world, the people who follow superstitions and people that dont. Superstitions play a big role in today s society to the point where people will go about their day due to a superstition. If a superstition that told them they were going to have bad luck because of walking under a ladder, they are probably going to be more likely to believe something that is not true. An event like this took place in the book ¨Julius Caesar¨ when Julius was told to beware of the ides of march he did not listen. Some say that believing this saying would have saved his life. However it must be taken into account the other reasons why it could have happened. In this essay we will analyze and explain on why superstitions are not to be trusted and followed. One way superstitions are influencing our lives is people believing certain triggers of good and bad luck, according to the us news ¨25 percent of people in the U.S. say they are very or somewhat superstitious in general¨ (Colino 1). When people see a black cat or a penny on the wrong side, it is generally associated with bad luck. In reality a perfectly good penny was just passed up due to ¨bad luck¨. Most of the time its just as harmless as passing up a penny, but that s not the case with everyone. Sometimes people let superstitions keep them from doing everyday tasks. This is important because people are letting rumors and myths that have a pretty big chance of being incorrect completely change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To begin with, Scholes, Johnson and Ambrosini (1998) explained strategy as the direction of a firm for the long term which accomplishes benefit for the firm through its allocation of resources within a dynamic environment to meet markets requirements and to achieve stakeholder expectations. Furthermore, Kelly and Zaman (2014) noted that strategies are strongly impacted by the environment of a firm. It is recommended that the strategies also implicate considerations about organization s internal factors and include choices about structure, technology and other factors. Both planned and emergent approaches must be studied under the progressively change, highly competitive and international business environment. External forces are driving companies to cut costs, improve processes and recognize new opportunities for growing. This paper will define and compare emergent and planned approaches to strategy formulation, and explain how utilizing organizational resources and capabilities play a key role in creating competitive advantage. The purpose of this arduous journey is to teach a large range of prosperous skills, information, and knowledge that will aid students throughout college and ultimately the real world. In the society we live in today, however, people never question the pressure this quantitative form of education imposes upon students. This crushing, mortifying stress plummets the mental and physical health of pupils sometimes to the point of no return. Colleges contribute greatly to this injustice as well: tuition fees and acceptance rates result being the primary concerns of families across the nation. Today s society should not endorse the over pressurization of college, as that in return results in the declination of health of high school students. ¬Stress plagues almost every high school student, and while miniscule amounts may not result in negative consequences, excessive amounts will (Palmer). Pressure by parents and schools to achieve top scores has created stress levels among students beginning as early as elementary school that are so high that some educators regard it as a health epidemic, stated Denise Clark Pope, a lecturer in the School of Education and author of Doing School: How We Are Creating a Generation of Stressed Out, Materialistic and Miseducated Students. Shakespeare uses this juxtaposition of settings to contrast the values of each environment and create resolution for all characters at the end of the play. Then there are the country characters: Silvius, Corin, Phebe, William, and Audrey. These characters are obviously less educated, having spent their entire lives in the forest, farming. Their lack of intelligence in the court sense, is shown through the incompatibility of dialogue between city and country characters. For example, Audrey and Touchstone often have issue while talking because Audrey does not know the definition of certain words such as foul and poetical. When she attempts to use these words, incorrectly so, her country idiocy is amplified. The discrepancy between country and court characters is also demonstrated in Touchstone s encounter with William, Audrey s former lover who describes himself as witty. Touchstone arrogantly brushes this notion aside, asserting that only fools call themselves witty. This scene portrays William as a kind of country bumpkin and establishes the idea that while the country may seem like a good solution for city woes, it should not necessarily be considered a permanent solution, because the benefits of court life, in this case education, are ... Symptoms And Treatment Of Cervical Spine Trauma As a physical therapist working in an outpatient facility, majority of the patients that I manage suffer from neck injuries sustained from motor vehicular accidents or a fall incident. Handling patient with cervical spine injury is challenging as it is vulnerable to further injury should it not be rehabilitated with extreme caution. It is essential that the clinician should not rely solely on diagnostic reports and should perform significant detailed assessments that include ligamentous stability tests with individuals that had cervical spine trauma (Mckinnis, 2014 p. 159). It should be noted that in any motor vehicular accident it is important to identify injury patterns and trauma protocols should be applied. Injuries brought about by motor vehicle accidents are not always apparent. For instance, during evaluation there is no evidence of any soft tissue damage or any manifestation of fractures, but one can still end up with long term disability due to back or neck pain. With that, an exhaustive physical examination coupled with an appropriate diagnostic procedure will give more information about the patient s condition and guide treatment decisions. This is truly vital because there are times reports that was initially identified as normal but later progressed into something fatal that might bring about disability or worse death. For this reason, it is indispensable for medical personnel to have sufficient knowledge about radiologic findings. Therapists should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Factors Caused By Recreational Scuba Diving And Snorkeling... Globally, marine ecosystems, in particular, coral reefs, are experiencing increasing pressure due to the growth in recreational scuba diving, and snorkeling. Pressure refers to the frequency, and quantity of divers, and dive boats on any particular reef. This pressure often results in damage to the reef, and is caused by divers, snorkelers, and even dive boat anchors, and anchor lines, furthermore, this damage takes significant time to repair, due to the rate at which coral grows, and repairs itself. Although this damage is not irreparable, continual pressure by recreational dive and snorkeling industries, can lead to damage beyond the reef s ability to recover. Damaged reefs result in loss of sea life, vibrancy, and color, the primary draw for divers, snorkelers, and other marine enthusiasts. Consequently, this damage extends to the economies of the local communities, in which water related activities are a primary source of revenue. To sustain these local communities economies, and tourist enjoyment, private SCUBA organizations can coordinate, and facilitate options to reduce the recreational damage of the ocean s reef system through education, artificial reef attractions, and alternative dive programs. SCUBA diving is a growing, and global recreational sport, with one certification agency, PADI, claiming an annual average of 900,000 new diver certifications globally . Of course, not all of these new divers will continue on to become frequent, or repeat divers, however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Taking a Look at Secular Humanism All systems of thought and each worldview have a notion of God. Secular humanism is defined as a belief system where humanity is the sovereign of all beings, and where reality and information rests in science and reason. The secular humanistic worldview started as a substitute among religions. Humanism is not a religious belief system in itself, while secular means not religious. A religion is any system of belief that informs an individual s worldview. The secular humanistic worldview has a distinctive belief on many disciplines such as theology, ethics, and evolution among others. Thus, the thesis of this paper is; the secular humanism worldview is religious, as secular humanists uphold beliefs and values that hold them with dedication. The purpose of this research paper is to discuss whether the secular humanistic worldview is indeed religious and how it has influenced the American Culture. Secular humanism is nontheistic and religious because it directs itself towards beliefs and practices that are in active opposition to customary theism. According to the Humanistic Manifestos I and II, secular humanism is a religious and philosophical moral point of view (House 381). The founders of the secular humanistic worldview considered it a religion. The ideals of the movement can be traced to ancient philosophers, scientists and poets of classical Rome and Greece and to some extent the Chinese Confucian society, Carvaka movements of India and other ancient moral ... At that location we looked at three sub location for our data, there were the grass, mulch, and rocks. The sites had many characteristics but the three that my group choose to focus on was the location had direct sun light that happened to be shining from the right side. The wind was blowing at CELS but it felt like it had a tunnel breeze. The last thing that we said was it had a very diverse landscape. We also gave characteristics for the three sub locations that we observed. For number one we looked at the grass and it was yellow with wet soil. Number two was the mulch and it was black, brown, and dry. Number three was the rocks and they were large, smooth, and greyish. Abstract: Our experiment is designed to show the symbiotic relationship between the mycorrhizal fungus and spinach plant. We constructed a 2X2 table of live molasses and controlled groups. Our hypothesis is that the live molasses with mycorrhizae group will extend the plants root bodies and increase the total surface area of the plant. That being said, the fungus and the plant will have a symbiotic mutual relationship towards each other. Our predictions came out to be false. The controlled groups had a higher average in shoot length and wet mass, which indicates that the plant and fungus have a parasitic relationship towards each other. Introduction: ... Introduction The Prevention and Access to Care and Treatment (PACT) program was established in 19971 to improve the health of the most vulnerable HIV and AIDS patients in Boston through the use of community health workers. Unlike many other types of healthcare providers, community health workers are able to form unique bonds with patients based on shared backgrounds, cultures, and languages. These community health workers provide individualized, culturally competent educational interventions in an effort to maximize patients usage of available medical and social services.2 Patients are referred into PACT by social services or healthcare providers when other options for care have been tried and were unsuccessful. Vulnerable populations such as racial and ethnic minorities, drug users, and those living below the poverty line tend to be disproportionately affected by HIV and AIDS3. Conventional care for these individuals can be particularly challenging with regards to access to culturally sensitive care, consistency of treatment, and patient understanding of risk factors and of the disease itself. Therefore, there is a great need for comprehensive, targeted programs such as PACT to effectively address these issues. In order to make sure that PACT is adequately addressing the needs of its target population, we will be conducting a program evaluation. If someone gets involved with bad people for an extended period of time and is with them quite frequently, anything that group does starts to eventually seem okay. A person mainly associating with people that are constantly committing illegal acts as a way of everyday life will ultimately absorb the same mind set. According to Sutherland s theory, individuals become law violators when they are in contact with persons, groups, or events that produce an excess of definitions favorable toward criminality and are isolated from counteraction forces (Siegal, 1992, p.227). Other criminal acts are due to how much will power and individual has to obey the law which is known as the Social control theory. Social theorists claim that a person s actions and feelings of strong emotions are influenced by internal and external forces. People who do not have well valued morals and lack self control are more likely to commit a crime. Individuals that are poor, do not have a good job, and or do not have a close and respectable support system of friends and family, do not have much to lose. Some researchers hypothesize that the hippocampus is involved in some types of memory processes but not others. This particular study measured brain activity using fMRI during two types of memory tasks: remember (episodic memory) and know (familiarity). Among these different processes are encoding, storage, consolidation, and retrieval. This study hypothesized that the hippocampus plays a different role in each of these. The method of this study is especially unique because it used temporary chemical inactivation of the hippocampus, which had not been done before. This temporary inactivation is unique because it lets the researchers selectively assess the role of the hippocampus during each of the processes discussed above. To test encoding, the inactivation occurred during learning of a maze task; to test retrieval, inactivation occurred during a retention task. Results indicate the temporary inactivation of the hippocampus impairs both encoding and retrieval. To test long term consolidation, rats were trained and then separate groups received hippocampal treatment for different amounts of time between one and five days. Results showed that temporary inactivation during this time period disrupts memory for the already learned task. This study partially supports the result of the study by Eldridge et al. (2000) in that they both show the hippocampus is necessary for memory retrieval. However, it does not address the retrieval of different types of memory. I didn t know much about how we had gotten here, not many people did. This was a way of life though, and the only time people left the volcano was when they either skipped their job for more than seven days, or they committed a crime that could not be undone. I walked into the cleaners corner, where we store our cleaning supplies. One of the older ladies that worked as a cleaner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Army Descriptive Writing Picture this: you can smell the incoming rain on a cool October day, you can hear the leaves peacefully falling. You can also hear 65 screaming kids playing on the playground at lunch recess; you yearn to get going to pack for your camping trip that you know will be fun. You quickly throw your clothes, three pairs of boots (you insist that 2 pairs will simply not be enough), your helmet (knowing that you will be riding your horse), and 4 sweatshirts. You throw your bag(s) into the car and start calling to the rest of your family to hurry up. You throw yourself into the car and anxiously wait for them. Feeling like they are taking an eternity, you call, again, for them hurry up. Finally, after what felt like forever, they finally get into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You could almost taste the thick moisture in the air. The taste of the mouthwatering breakfast lingered in your mouth throughout the morning. A wild imagination fills your mouth with the potluck that I longed for later that evening. You can feel the grogginess of all of the campers in the group, even though it was late in the morning. The morning sun rose to surround the landscape with its warmth. The ever lingering moisture in the air was thick enough you could feel it. You can clearly see the heavy dew on the grass. The thin layer of moisture covers every surface. The insanely beautiful sunrise on the horizon showers you with a bright light that is bound to wake you completely. The peacefully resting horses can be seen from your trailer s window. The slow moving preparation for the day ahead is seen in many neighboring campsites. There is a group of boys desperately trying to start a fire with whatever dry kindling they can find. Many of the adults are seen trying to clean up their campsite from the night before. You can very clearly hear the movement of every squirrel within fifty feet of your camper. The quiet murmur of each family rising to get ready is a prominent sound throughout the campground. The sizzling of the newly built fire, and the water running in a nearby trailer prove to be the only sounds not coming from nature that morning. The quiet sound of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Case Mw Petroleum 3. Differences between APV and option valuation Valuing MW Acquisition by using APV method assumes in practice that exploiting of all MW s reserves is certain and happens right after the acquisition. In other words, the APV method excludes the flexibility in future decision making. In this case, Apache has both an option to defer the exploiting of reserves into future and Apache may also choose not to exploit the MW reserves at all. As some of MW s reserves are actually real options, the APV valuation method actually underestimates the real value of MW acquisition. If Apache defers the exploiting of the reserves, there exists a possibility for the future cash flows becoming even more valuable. For example, Apache could have more precise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is important to remember that the APV valuation and the option valuation calculations in Exhibit 1 and 3 aren t straight forward comparable, since APV assumes financing the acquisition with new $300 million debt and real option valuation is calculated assuming total equity financing. If the tax rate remains constant, the real option valuation could be performed by taking the present value of the tax shields into account. In this case the values obtained by real option valuation would be even higher than the ones presented in the table. As discounted cash flow method assumes all equity financed acquisition, it presents more comparable value for the real option values shown. The value of Apache s possibility to decide whether to exploit the reserves equals the difference between DCF value and the real option value. 4. Option valuation method The future cash flows of MW s reserves contain a great amount of risk and have many possible future outcomes. The real option valuation method takes into account the flexibility rising from this uncertainty. Real options often are valued using financial option pricing techniques. However, there are several things to be considered when treating reserves as options by using more specific Black amp; Scholes model. Firstly, there are some simplifications to be done to get all the necessary inputs for the Black amp; Scholes model. One approximation to be made is the estimation of the ... • 45. Analysis Of Hey There Delilah Confessing Love Through Song The purpose of this paper is to analyze the song Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T s. This paper will identify the message and tone of the song, as well as the artist s appeal to the audience by analyzing the organization of the song, and the specific rhetorical strategies the artist used to connect to the audience. The song s organization, style, figurative language, and hyperboles in the lyrics will also be analyzed to connect the artist s intention back to the audience. In this song, the artist s main point and thesis, is that he is head over heels in love with a girl named Delilah. He wants to tell the world, and Delilah herself, how much he loves her, and how their love conquers the distance between them. This song was released in May 2006 in the United states, with the intended audience being people ranging in age from middle school age to college age. He chose this range in age to connect to a broad amount of people, with the general assumption that they would be familiar with what love is, or have experienced it themselves. The artist wants the audience to feel his substantial affection for Delilah, and how it is unchanging even though they are separated by distance. He appeals to the audience s emotions of admiration, compassion, and longing for another person. The artist does this by singing about his extensive love for Delilah, which may lead people to think of someone they themselves care deeply about, or an example of love in their life. The artist chooses an upbeat and happy tempo that repeats throughout the song. He chooses this repeating tempo to draw the listener s attention to the lyrics of the song. The slow, yet happy tempo paired with the artists bright and cheery voice creates a sense of ease and happiness within the song itself, and the audience. In this song, for the majority of the time the artist is confessing and explaining his love for Delilah to the world, and Delilah herself. He does this by telling the audience exactly what he is thinking, however, he does use imagery on occasion to accentuate his point. For example, the artist uses the simile Times Square can t shine as bright as you, to compare Delilah s radiance to the lights of New ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. A Better Understanding Of Free Will Jesus with two complete and separate natures, fully man in every way except for original sin, and Jesus Divine one with God the father and the Holy Spirit. We are created with a desire in our hearts to be drawn to the father and to do his will. We have the stain of original sin on our hearts since the fall. Jesus has free will, his free will is not quite the same as ours, we are weak due to sin and Christ free from sin is not tempered by sin. The purpose of this paper is to have a better understanding of free will and to help us to have a deeper and closer relationship with Jesus Christ. During the temptations of Christ in the desert we can see he was able to maintain his free will with his human knowledge of the word of God. He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And he said to them, I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; Jesus earnestly desired, this is free will, for he shows he has his own desires and he wishes to share himself with his friends and ultimately with the whole Church. for I tell you I shall not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves; ...And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you. Jesus identifies the Eucharist with his body, he takes ownership and what he has and he gives it away of his own free will. Do this in remembrance of me. And likewise the cup after supper, saying, This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. He clearly again says it is his blood and by his free will he gives it, all of this completely in line with the fathers will. And he came out, and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him. And when he came to the place he said to them,...and knelt down and prayed, Father, if thou art willing, remove this cup from me ; He says remove from me as to say this is my will however my desire to do your will is greater. nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
