the children, while the husbands, sons and hired laborers were off at war. With their sons overseas,
many farm women had to take on extra work. One Alberta mother of nine sons all of them either in the

Within my data which I collected I have found one anomaly. The anomaly is taken from my second
row of results (highlighted in red).
At the temperature 40°C, the first result I collected from this temperature was 0.75 arbitrary units and
from the re test results at the same temperature I got 0.41 arbitrary units. This is a difference of 0.34
arbitrary units.

This piece of data is not what I would have expected due to the first set of results, although the data at
55°C on the first and second tests are relatively the same.
Evaluation of Practical Work:
The anomaly which I have identified at 40°C is 0.41 arbitrary units this could be due to the size of the
sample of beetroot used, if the sample was smaller than the other samples it was have less pigment
which would suggested why the result is lower than expected. Another suggestion for why the result is
lower than expected could be due to the loss of pigment in the preparation process, or from where the
sample was taken from on the beetroot.
If the sample was taken from the centre of the beetroot the sample may have had more pigment
contained within the cells, but if the sample was taken from closer to the surface of the beetroot it

Boko Haram is a terrorist extremist group that fights against Christianity. Their goal is to turn the
world into Islam believers. Right now they have focused on Africa, Nigeria in particular. In order to
do this, they have taken over towns, stolen girls from schools and brought terror to Nigeria. Boko
Haram promotes a version of Islam which makes it haram , or forbidden, for Muslims to take part in
any political or social activity associated with Western society. This includes voting in elections,
wearing shirts and trousers or receiving a secular education. Boko Haram regards the Nigerian state as
being run by non believers, even when the country had a Muslim president and it has extended its
military campaign by targeting neighbouring states.

With the unemployment rate that high, it is almost going to be impossible to live in Mexico if the
population keeps increasing. The last characteristic that makes Mexico a developing country is the
dependence and vulnerability in internal relations. The increasing problem of the Mexican drug cartels
has made Mexico even worse of a place to live. Many innocent people die each year because of the

Photography, the author, Kirsten A. Hoving, examines photographs created by Man Ray and how it
relates to the classical Venus sculptures. By using Man Ray s idea of deconstructing the classical
female torso in fragments, body doubling corsets, and formless figures, the author argues how those
characteristics communicate the meaning of eroticism and power within Surrealist photography and
literature. Within the first argument, the author explains how the Surrealist artists drew their
inspiration of the female torso from the ancient mythological god, Venus. Hoving noted that the artists
explored ways which the human body can appear as fragments and how it could be used

Symbolism In The Happy Lovers By Jean-Honor� Fragonard
In Jean Honoré Fragonard painting The Happy Lovers (appendix: fig. 1), viewers are able to get a
glimpse into the light hearted, playful Rococo period. The Happy Lovers is a 35.5 x 47.75 in. oil
painting, that was created between the years 1760 5 in France for an unnamed aristocrat; however, it
can now be found in the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California. The Rococo period was a
result of artists resisting the stiff monarchy, and desiring open expressionism this was particularly
emphasized through nature. The two great artists from this period are Fragonard and François
Boucher, Fragonard s teacher. A result of Boucher teaching Fragonard, specifically in the continuation
of pastoral, Boucher was a great influence. This is obvious when The Happy Lovers is compared to
Boucher s The Bird Catchers (appendix: fig. 2). Both paintings include subjects of women holding
bird catchers and doves, ultimately symbolizing woman s ability to control relationships. More
specific to The Happy Lovers, the woman dangles the cage above the boy, who is carrying a dove, a
symbol of Venus the goddess of love. However, in the bottom left quadrant of the painting there is an
even larger cage with more doves, hinting at the idea that women can easily capture many men. This
