Bob Dylan And The Definition Of Success
Everything present in the universe is a relatable term just like the word success . Like most of the
definitions, the interpretation of success varies with the people s perception so it is rather impossible
to understand success in a simple way. In the present era, most of the people relate success with the
materialistic achievements such as wealth, power and fame while some prefer to evaluate success by
assessing the contribution of the person to the society. Many great poets, politicians, writers and
songwriters have inked their own version of the definition of success and one of the great many quotes
by Bob Dylan is A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in
between does what he wants to do. Dylan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some may also argue that happiness is never genuinely attainable and it is an abstract feeling than a
quantifiable one. Unquestionably, a person has to be very patient and persist to go through a different
route rather than the one previously determined by the society to really reach their dream destination
but one must differentiate between attainable dream and mere illusion. An entrepreneur has to be able
to distinguish what can be more marketable among the things that they love. Following an illusion will
only lead the person to failure and oust them from the real world without bringing any joy to both the
person and the society so it really necessary to go after the real

The Allocation Of Relief Food
ALLOCATION OF RELIEF FOOD
Food security is defined as a situation in which a countries people have physical, social and economic

In the recent years, and especially starting from 2008, the Kenya has been facing severe food
insecurity problems. These are depicted by a high proportion of the population having no access to

Pros And Cons Leading Up To The American Revolution
CIRCUMSTANCES LEADING UP TO THE REVOLUTION
On August 19, 1953, the American CIA helped to overthrow a democratically elected prime minister
in Iran Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh, who was elected in 1950 and restored the Shah to his
Monarchical leadership position ( A short account of 1953 Coup ). The Shah was a modernizer for
Iran in many respects, promoting the growth of a modern economy and a middle class, and
championing women s rights. He outlawed the hijab, which is the full body veil that women are to
wear, according to Islamic law; encouraged education for women up to and including at the university
level; and championed employment opportunities outside the home for women. The Shah was restored
to his Monarchical leadership position ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This fact shattered the hopes of millions of Iranians who thought the revolution would bring more
freedom, not less. Women lost many of the social gains they had made under the Shah, and were
forced to wear head coverings and full body cloaks called chadors. Opponents were imprisoned and
tortured as harshly and cruel as was done under the Shah. A parliamentary democracy existed mostly
on paper, with true authority residing with the mullahs. With the Shah in exile, Khomeini identified
the U.S. as the Great Satan and an enemy of Islam. Subsequent to this Khomeini regime, under the
Shah dissent was also ruthlessly suppressed, and he jailed and tortured his political opponents.
Moreover, under the Shah, Iran became a police state, monitored by the hated SAVAK secret police.
Furthermore, the Shah s reforms, particularly those concerning the rights of women, angered Shia
clerics such as the Ayatollah Khomeini, who fled into exile in Iraq and later France beginning in 1964.
The US was intent on keeping the Shah in place in Iran in the 1970s, for many reasons, especially as a
deterring buffer against Soviet expansionism ( Iranian Civil

A Society Fighting for Social Change Essay
The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win (Marx). While living
in London as an adult Karl Marx realized that he was living in a very rich country but only small
portion of the people were benefiting from the riches of the country and the larger portion was
suffering from poverty. The people that were enjoying the riches of the country he referred to as
capitalists, these people seek profit from the factories and businesses that the owned. Then there were
the people he considered as proletarians, these people sold their labor for wages to the capitalist. Marx
started to think of the idea of social conflict; Investopedia defines the conflict theory as a state of
perpetual conflict due to competition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marx broke down alienation into four different categories, Alienation from the act of working,
Alienation from the products of work, Alienation from the workers and Alienation from human
potential. Marx believed that the only way things could start to change was if the proletarians started
to demonstrate conflict. Proletarians needed to say what it was that they needed and wanted so that
their capitalist could have been aware of what they were interested in, what they wanted and needed in
order for them to survive and what they needed in the organization while working for them to be
comfortable, this was the only way that changes would have be able to come about. It was not
guarantee that with each and every conflict change would have occurred. Also, not at the first sight of
conflict there would have been change. The proletarians needed to be ready to have kept the conflicts
reoccurring and consistent in order for changes to come about because the capitalist would not create
change at the first sight of conflict because they believed that the way things were going at that time
were the best possible options available and they were no need for change. The capitalist were okay
with having the proletarians on very low wages in order for them to get the most profits out of the
products and services that they were offering. The

Tupac The Man Who Grew From Concrete Analysis
The Man Who Grew From Concrete Tupac was the man who grew from concrete, despite and

select few poems that intrigued me. My favorite being What of Fame? Others like: Life through my
eyes, Sometimes I cry, If I Fail, No win dream poem, also stood out to me. All of these poems have a
common theme of Me vs. the World. Depression is a big motive for Shakur in his writing, given that
his heart is filled with sorrow. He even wrote a song about his heart turning cold. Shakur consistantly
to use metaphors in his writing, along with masculine rhymes. Being a song artist, it s only natural.

He often switches between text and the proper spelling as this can be seen in the last passage. He uses

pace of a beat for me personally, because I viewed all his poems as songs. He s a very simple writer,
not much of a lyricist, and his rhymes are mostly male rhymes. His grammar utilizes text language,
and can be found in nearly every poem in his book. Tupac uses text language to keep it simple, and to
help with the flow his ideas. He has an incredible sense of rhyme and rhythm and meter. His overall
style is one that countless people fall in love with and one that all can understand. The reason Tupac is
as big as he is, is because there s truth to his writing and a message for every type of person. This
makes him a very relatable poet, and people like to feel connected to

The Lucky One
I chose to read The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks as my contemporary novel. I have read it before
and I have seen the movie and i loved them both. I was really glad to finally read something i enjoyed
and have to write a paper on it. In the following paragraphs i summarize both the book and the movie,
talk about differences and similarities between the book and the movie, and finally i discuss how i felt
about the book and the movie and which i prefer. The following is a summary of the book. It is about a
man named Logan, a Marine serving in Iraq, who comes across a photograph in the desert. The
photograph is of a woman at a fair with a huge ferris wheel and three trees in the background and on
the back it says, Keep safe! E . Logan s best friend, Victor, a fellow Marine, says that he was meant to
find that photograph and that it brings him good luck, after Logan tries to find out who is belongs to
with no luck and after Logan survives many explosions while having the photo with him. So when
Logan returns home, he sets out to find the woman, at Victor s suggestion. All he has is a letter of her
name and the background of the photo to go off of. After doing some research he finally narrows it
down to a town in North Carolina. He heads out with his dog, a german shepard named Zeus, on foot
across the country, traveling from Colorado to North Carolina. While traveling, he runs into a cop
named Keith, who he later finds out is the ex husband of the girl in the picture. Logan

The North Netherlandish Painter Hieronymus Bosch As The...
The North Netherlandish painter Hieronymus Bosch was considered as the most enigmatic artist of his
epoch. According to an earlier Spanish writer, Don Felipe de Guevara, who reports that Bosch painted
bizarre and wondrous figures because his themes were so often focus on Hell but that he executed
even these creatures with decorum and good judgment. Bosch blends his innovative aesthetic
principles into his religious paintings, this could tell in two perspectives: firstly, Bosch s works
presented with them with an astonishingly new version of religious subject matter that mirrored the
haunting obsessions of the inner man; second, the numerous imitations and travesties of his pious
works that were considered authentic or reliable copies of his paintings had, in fact, only obscured and
perverted the true meaning of his are and misled critics in interpreting his religious sentiment. It
earned him the reputation of a bizarre visionary. The famous Italian Renaissance painter Sandro
Botticelli had visualized the funnel shaped hell in 1480~1490 according to Dante s depiction of the
Inferno in the Divina Commedia, yet in the following decade, Hieronymus Bosch rendered the foreign
hermeneutic text in a different way by his brush. Bosch was from a well off family, which released
him from the bond of commission, he was not relying on his paintings to earn a living; therefore,
Bosch could freely express his ideas on the panel without any restraints. As a Netherlandish painter

Whether a person leaves a society does not change anything to the fact that this society will still
contain suicides. Sociology s task thus consists of discovering the qualities and characteristics of such
social facts, which can be discovered through a quantitative or experimental approach (Durkheim
extensively relied on statistics). One can thus argue that Durkheim defended a form of sociological
positivism.[7]
Method and objectivity
In his Rules of the Sociological Method (1895), Durkheim expressed his will to establish a method
which would guarantee sociology s truly scientific character. One of the questions raised by the author
concerns the objectivity of the sociologist: how may one study an object which, from the very
beginning, conditions and relates to the observer? According to Durkheim, observation must be as
impartial and impersonal as possible, even though a perfectly objective observation in this sense may
never be attained. Sociology should therefore privilege comparison rather than the study of singular
independent facts. Consequently, a social fact must always be studied according to its relation with
other social facts, never according to the individual who studies it.

Education
Durkheim was also interested in education. Partially this was because he was professionally employed

she buried herself into a wide hole flooded with thick sand. As she climbed down, at least a foot deep

Persuasive Essay On How To Eat
Following the French restaurant scene, a women s etiquette class on how to eat spaghetti appropriately
takes place in an Italian restaurant. The teacher speaks to the class that they should only catch three or
four strings of spaghetti and eat them silently. However, after a westerner eats spaghetti casually and
makes a loud noise, the entire etiquette class, including the teacher, begins to shovel the food into their
mouths. At this point, the pleasure of eating food has taken place of the eating tradition of classiness
and elegance. Additionally, the film shows a man who is suffering from a toothache because of eating
too much. Even when he is feeling the pain, he is unable to resist the temptation of dim sum on the
subway, which leads him to a trip to the dental office. His tooth has such a huge abscess that the

The French and English had many battles near this island, including the Battle of Cul de Sac and the
Battle of the Saintes, which has a significant impact in the pages of the poem. Major Plunkett, in his
analyzation of the history of St Lucia, becomes very interested in an Ensign Plunkett, who (only in
Omeros) is part of the Battle of the Saintes. Today, St. Lucia is a multicultural democracy which
became independent from English rule in 1979.
This conflict of these two European powers is a theme which Walcott carries over to the story. In
Omeros, Walcott uses Achille and Hector to show the struggle between these two nations. In one
place, Walcott says, amp;#8220;...An island called Helen..., ; Bk 2, XIX, i). Obviously, this is a clear
reference to Helen being used as a figure of St. Lucia. He uses Achille and Hector amp;#8217;s

placed most eastwardly and is blue in décor, which could signify the rising of the sun, the beginning of
life, and the color of day. And the seventh, and most westerly apartment, is black with red accents and
represents the end of life, the setting of the sun, and death. Poe did not intend a specific meaning for
the number seven, just for the reader to be aware of the passing of time and the idea that the prince
was trying to recreate a perfect world complete with all the appliances of pleasure Without was the
Red Death. (238). The Prince s recreation of the world is ironic because it is modeled after the one the
Prince and his followers are trying to escape. The seven perfect rooms foreshadow the evitable
downfall of perfection. The number seven appears six times in the text which may lead to some
significance behind that number as well. Six could represent human morality, the devil, spiritual
imperfection. The masquerade takes place in the sixth month of isolation in the abbey; the sixth
apartment is where the Prince finally confronts Red Death and eventually

Maltese Falcon Movie Book Comparison Essay
Solon Bowden
2/9/08 Paul K.
The Maltese Falcon Comparison
Samuel Spade of The Maltese Falcon novel by Dashiell Hammett is quite different from Samuel
Spade of The Maltese Falcon motion picture. The book was written a good decade before that version
of the movie was produced and in a much more casual time period. The novel focuses on making Sam
out to be a more complex character than the movie does. He is not just the good guy as he is portrayed
more so in the movie. The time period may have had a lot to do with the differences between the 1941
movie and the book, published in 1929. The first thing to consider is that the late 1920 s were a much
more relaxed, party era, while the early 1940 s were an era of strict decorum. While ... Show more

Another striking difference between the novel and the film is the portrayal of the femme fatale
antihero Brigid O Shaughnessy. The book, once again in stride with the time period it was published
in, portrays her as a very sexually charged woman, someone who is without a doubt willing to use her
sexuality to her advantage in any situation. An example of her comfort with her sexuality is seen when
she strips in a bathroom for Spade and In her mien was pride without defiance or embarrassment
(196). The movie, however, shows her in a more traditional role of a woman, someone who uses her
femininity to her advantage, playing the poor helpless girl more often. Instead of having Brigid strip in
the movie, she merely pleads with Sam, begging him to believe that she did not take the money. In its
entirety, The Maltese Falcon novel reflects a more evolved character in both Sam Spade and Brigid O
Shaughnessy. Each character is real enough to know that right decisions aren t always clear and that
sometimes no one can be trusted, as is seen when Spade searches Brigid s room or strip searches her.
While the Sam Spade of the movie still reserved his doubts about people he met, he was a much less
multi faceted character, one who could still make all the right choices and by the end of the story save
the day. At the same time, the novel begs the question by the end of the story did Sam Spade make the
right decision? The

New Trenchless Technolgies in Construction
New Trenchless technologies in Construction Nowadays there is an immense growth in trenchless
construction technologies. Trenchless construction technologies are the underground methods used to
build underground infrastructures without affecting the ground surface. The advantages of trenchless
technologies are public safety and the cost impact for deeper excavation. Trenchless technologies
minimize traffic impacts and road repairs. New trenchless technologies have been developed to
precede the construction method which is best selected. When the method of trenchless construction is
known, it gets easier to find out the technology to be used for construction. The selection of
construction methods is important for placing or installing a construction unit. Researchers say that
focusing on the construction method would give an idea of what kind of trenchless technologies can
be used and how are they important. Some researchers say selection of construction method to
propose new approaches for obtaining effective results. Ferrada and Serpell (2014) have reviewed
saying selecting the best construction methods for an operation achieves high productivity. They
conducted a survey among the interviewers giving them two definitions selected from various sources
on construction methods, in which they had to choose one. Most of them identified the second
definition which was construction methods include the definition of the construction plant, how the

Modern Day Color And Sound Motion Pictures
The desire for a sense of motion, action, and narrative (cinema s roots) stretch all the way back to
prehistory with cave drawings... In fact, the entire history of human accomplishment in the visual arts
seems to reveal a deep seated desire to represent time, space, and action visually and as vividly as
possible . (Lewis 5) Throughout history, people have exhibited a need to be entertained and a need for
hope or something to look forward to. Without anything to live for, something to strive for, life can

The invention of moving pictures began in 1875 in California when Leland Stanford, the governor of
California, got into a disagreement with a rival gambler about whether or not all four hooves of a
horse are ever off the ground at the same time. To get to the bottom of this argument, Stanford hired
Eadweard Muybridge, a British born entrepreneur and renowned photographer to set up a row of
cameras along a racetrack and capture the stages of the horses gallop with timed exposures. (Lewis 8)
This technique, known as the battery of camera technique, brought photography leaps and bonds
closer to cinema. After proving that all four hooves of a horse are indeed off the ground at the same
time, Muybridge took his series photographs on the road where he not only exhibited his work but
also talked about the technology that produced it. It was at one of these shows that Thomas Edison
met with Muybridge and became interested in producing a more sophisticated simulation of
movement on film than Muybridge s series photographs could ever have produced... He had plans to
develop a system that might sync serial images with recorded sound played back on the Edison
phonograph . (Lewis 9). After meeting with Muybridge, Edison enlisted photographer William
Kennedy Laurie Dickson to help him take technology one step further and create a camera that could

The Value Of The Balance Sheet
The main purpose of the balance sheet is to reflect and explain the accounting equation: Assets =
Liabilities + Owner s Equity. This equation is the fundamental model for recording and reporting
transactions. It is essentially useful for showing what the company owns, what the company owes, and
what does the owner s equity remains. The ordering of the assets and the liabilities help the user to
assess the liquidity of the company. For our purpose focusing on Walt Disney World, we are primarily
focused on their assets and liabilities. In analyzing the balance sheet of our company, we will explain
each aspects of the balance sheet in three separate parts.
To understand how the total assets changed within a year, we shall look at each aspects of the assets.
In the cash and cash equivalent, we have seen that the cash in hand decreased in 2013 from $3,931 to
$3,421 in 2014. This shall shows that the company may have spent cash on inventories and other
goods for the benefit of the company. In the receivables aspect, the amount of receivables has begun to
increase from 2013 to 2014 with an increase rate of 11.6%. In other terms, it increased from $6,967 in
2013 to $7,822 in 2014. This was an infinitesimal increase and it shows that the company had a lot of
companies owing them for the purchase of the Walt Disney Products and land usage. Another way of
saying is that other companies may be purchasing land from Disney to sell their products and expand
their companies to wider

What Is The History Of Horse Racing
The History of Thoroughbred Racing
Thoroughbred horse racing has a long and storied history. Horse racing dates back to 4500 B.C., when
Central Asian nomadic tribesmen first raced their recently domesticated horses. Later on, horse racing
became known as the sport of kings. Today, horse racing is both a popular spectator sport and one of
the few forms of gambling that is legal in most of the world. Thoroughbred racing is the most popular
form of horse racing.
Origins of Modern Racing
Horse racing was popular among the ancient Greeks and in the Roman Empire. In the 12th century,
Crusaders returned to England with fast Arab horses and began breeding them with English mares,
producing horses with both speed and endurance. Noblemen placed bets

The first structure to appear in a germinating seedling is a root. This is so that the seedling can acquire
nutrients and water from the soil as well as begin its journey to the surface for sunlight.
The seedlings should be a color of white. This is due to the fact that the seedlings have not seen any
sunlight previously, preventing the formation of chlorophyll. Once the seedlings are exposed to
sunlight, they can begin to produce chlorophyll and attain their signature green color.

The Three Gods In Hinduism
Throughout India, there has been a large variation of religions that people follow. While there are
many cohesive religious systems, what makes Hinduism unique is that it is categorized as many
Indian religious ways formed together to make one single religion. (Fisher, 73). In Hinduism, there
have been three gods that are vital in the religious aspect life of Hinduism. These three gods, Brahmā,
Vishnu, and Shiva, represent the three forces of creation, preservation, and destruction in Hinduism
and when they are linked together, primarily in philosophy and art, they are often called the Trimūrti,
which means triple form. Brahmā represents the god of creation, Vishnu represents the god of
preservation, and Shiva represents the god of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His status isn t equal to that of Vishnu or Shiva. However, Brahmā still appears in more myths than
almost every other Hindu god, very often including Vishnu and Shiva, especially in the Puranas. One
very popular myth is when Shiva appears before both Brahmā and Vishnu in the form of a flaming
phallus and tells Brahmā that he will never again be worshipped in India because he was being
punished for having wrongly declared that he saw the tip of the infinite pillar (Doniger, 1023). We can
also see in the many versions of the Submarine Mare myth that Brahma plays a large role as well. In
this myth, a giant fire was threatening the universe so Brahma put the fire in the body of a mare with
fiery ambrosia in her mouth and then put the mare in the ocean to be kept until the final flood
(Caldwell, 86). Another incident where the three gods of the Trimurti are classified together in a myth
is when Prithu, an ancient Hindu king, was being sanctified as a king. The three gods of the Trimurti
were each giving Prithu a gift at the celebration with Brahma giving him an armour of Vedic
incantations, Vishnu giving him the sudarśana discus, and Shiva giving him a sword engraved with ten
moons like marks. Brahma s gift intentionally was to relate to spiritual force, while Vishnu s related to
physical force and Shiva s gift to fertility (the moon being a symbol of production) (Bailey, 157 158).
Another example of the Trimurti functioning together develops in a description of the lingodbhava
myth. In this scenario, Brahma is described approaching Vishnu, who was reclined on his snake couch
with many servants to his beckon call and his great power was on display as Vishnu was personifying
himself as a female. A quarrel brews between the two of them about who is more superior to the other.
Eventually, Shiva appears ...in the form of a fiery lingam, a symbol of Shiva, whereby he proves his

Research Paper On Io
Volcanology of Io Volcanos have played a colossal part in human history; mainly by destroying cities
and killing the people in them. While Earth is volcanically active there are other locations that surpass
it in activity. To find one of these places one must go through the Kuiper belt to the gas giant Jupiter.
Jupiter, while the biggest planet in our solar system comes second to Saturn for the most amount of
moons. There are sixty three total moons and fifty three of them have been officially named. Whether
it be size or composition, they all vary greatly from one another. The four biggest, known as the

The different types of eruptions that come from the volcanoes that stretch across Io play a significant
role in its volcanology. There are three popular types of eruptions that occur on Io. These are: flow
dominated, explosion dominated, and Intra patera eruptions. Flow dominated eruptions produce
extensive compound lava flow fields... similar to compound inflationary flows commonly observed on
Hawaiian eruptions on Earth (Lopes 2015). These flows make up a major terrain type on Io. Many of
the major flows are produced by build ups of small breakouts of lava on top of older flows. They
differ from the other popular eruptions because they can last for years, have a low output of energy,
and can have flow fields larger than 300 kilometers. The opposite of this style of eruption is explosion
dominated eruptions. Where most of the energy of the eruption is directed into a short lived, vigorous
event that lasts days to weeks... can produce extensive pyroclastic deposits and lava flow fields, and
typically a large ( 200 km high) plume, thought to originate from the interaction of silicate magma
with sulfurous volatiles (Lopes 2015). These eruptions occur when magma deep within Io s molten
mantle reaches the surface and cause alterations in the near infrared brightness. They also have the
potential to cause colossal short lived changes around them. For example, in 1997 an eruption
produced a 400 kilometer wide deposit of silicate and sulfur dioxide. The powerful eruption in
recorded history was explosion dominated and observed by astronomers on February 22, 2001. The
most common of the three eruption types, Intra patera eruptions, occur with or without associated
plumes, and are thought to be lava lakes (Lopes 2015). Generally they have flat floors and steep walls.
Unlike features that are similar on Earth they are usually not located at the peak of a shield volcano.

Meditation History
There is limited knowledge concerning the history of meditation, but some researchers think that
meditation could have been discovered when people sat at campsite fires thousands of years ago and
looked at the flames. This theory goes well with the known fact that staring at a candle flame can
induce one type of meditation. As time passed different forms of it were developed. Books from India
called tantras speak of this type of prayer as far back as five thousand years ago. Archaeologists
discovered a statue of a yogi in the Indus Valley Civilization and this shows that meditation in the
practice of yoga could be as ancient as the first Indian civilization.
Buddha was a big advocate of meditation. He became established as a teacher about 500 B.C. His
ideas were stretched into various Asian countries and in other places people created different forms of
meditation based on his teachings. In Islam the Sufi tradition of meditation was purported and the
leaders (Sufis) think that when Mohamed began Islam that is when meditation started with that
religion. Meditation is part of Christianity, Jainism, Judaism, and aboriginal religions. ... Show more

As mentioned earlier, it is believed that globalization benefits world economies. This is because it can
increase their standard of living, creates access to new markets, and even widens the wage gap, but
there are some consequences as well. In the long term, there are many beneficial outcomes but short
term, people may suffer, especially the poor. The poor will ultimately become poorer because there
will be a decrease in employment. Globalization has often been thought to be the primary reason for
income inequality within a nation. Take for example the United States of America. A growing number
of American s believe that globalization is increasing the gap between the rich and poor, even
depleting those who are already poor. Essentially, making the rich even richer, and the poor even
poorer. A famous result due to Wolfgang Stolper and Paul Samuelson states that some groups will
necessarily suffer long term losses in income from free trade (Rodrik 2011, 38). The technological
advances take the jobs away from the people but make it easier for the country in the long run. A
popular criticism of globalization is outsourcing. While outsourcing provides jobs to people in one
country, it takes away those jobs from people of another country, leaving many without opportunities.
The opposing side would point out that American consumers are able to benefit from lower prices
which were made possible because of cheaper labor. Defending either side of this

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying
when there seemed to be no hope at all. This quote by Dale Carnegie means you should try even when
you don t believe you can accomplish what you want. A lot of things may seem hopeless, but they can
always be accomplished or done it just depends on how much you want it. To be Forlorn is to
completely lose cocksure and there s always some left in you even when you doubt there is you just
have to unearth it and once you find it never let it go because it can never be lost forever. People who

Gender Roles In The Taming Of The Shrew
Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew was already renown for its boasting a battle of the sexes .
After all, the conflict of gender relations are so blatant in the piece, that they are nearly impossible to
ignore. However, it was in 1967 that the sexism was clearly spelled out in Franco Zeffirelli s film
adaptation of the famous play. Consequently, even those that are too languid to read the play, will
abandon their indolence and feverishly examine the role of gender in Zeffirelli s motion picture.
Specifically, at a first glance it appears as if Shakespeare characterizes Katherina as inherently evil.
Yet, then it becomes evident that male chauvinism permeates every scene as the audience witnesses
the strong female lead of Katherina be forced into submission by both her husband and her society, the
patriarchal Petruchio and Padua. Therefore, it is possible to ascertain that Shakespeare is
communicating the perils of sexism.
For starters, the Katherina that is present at the exposition, exudes a ... Show more content on

Essay On International Business Trade
This report will outline the competing perspectives on Britain s continuing trade outside of the
European Union membership, will also be considering at least one other EU members national
perspective on the management context of European/International business trade.
It will summarise the impact of the EU integration on business, discussing possible proposal of
recommendations for problems, and finally discussing the important economics models with
examples.
The British individuals have settled on the most critical decision for a generation by voting for Brexit
on the 23rd June 2016. According to BBC news, leave won by 52% to 48% . In order for the UK to

Therefore, as you can see, from the table above these countries each have their own agreements with
the EU, a few options that the UK could consider are explained in detail below (Fig:1)
For example; Norway is in the single market, and have freedom of movement and makes EU budget
contribution. Switzerland is partially in the single market, accept free movement of people, they do
contribute to the EU however they pay a smaller amount than Norway. Canada have tariff trade deals,
as well as WTO and Turkey, however Turkey does not on industrial goods.
1). Norwegian Model
The choice to leave the EU has pushed the UK into uncharted trading territory. The main alternative
frequently supported by supporters of Brexit, is joining the European Economic Area (EEA) which
was founded in 1994 to provide European nations that are not part of the EU an approach to become
members of single market.
The UK have got themselves in a messy situation but the way forward may not be. There are few
alternatives they can choose from. One of the options is the Norway option, the Norway option gives
the country full access to the single European market without being a fully paid up member. The
Norway model will also mean that Britain becoming members of two key European organisations, the
European Economic Area (EEA) and the European Free Trade Association (EEFA).
Joining the EEA would mean the UK would still contribute to the EU s budget. Additionally, the UK

Influence Of Media On Self Esteem
How Influential is The Media Affecting the Self esteem of Adolescents
Self esteem is a global evaluative dimension of the self and determines if you are satisfied with certain
aspects of your life. For example, your appearance, your personality, your abilities and your
relationship with others. The media is a powerful source of tool to manipulate adolescents that
portrays unrealistic images that affect the way they feel about themselves. I believe that the social
media does affect the self esteem of adolescent s due to self image.
Studies prove that the media can have a negative impact on self image. TV, movies, magazines and the
internet all pressures what their bodies should look like. In the article, Too sexy too soon: A mother s
battle against the sexualization of girls by Tina Wolridge quoted, One of the hardest responsibilities of
being a parent to a 13 year old girl is explaining the sexualized images of young women that are seen
on TV and in skimpy clothing, magazines and sexy videos...I want my daughter to be valued for her
mind, for what s on the inside and for being a good person. I want her to understand that you don t
need to get your value from your looks alone (Wolridge, 2013). It is sad that millions of teens believe
the lies and resort to unhealthy measures to try to fit themselves into that impossible mold. They feel
so much less because in their heads they see that s what it takes to be noticed or worthy. Images they
see are nothing, but air brushed ideas of what is the vision of perfection. The insecurity one holds
buries the true beauty and worthiness that person actual holds. It is sad how the media can have a
negative impact to make someone feel ugly and insecure about themselves. They all should be able to
love their self for who they really are and how they present themselves no matter what anyone else
says.
During high school, I remember people tried to do whatever it took to fit in or be accepted. My
classmate and including myself spent trying to be liked, accepted, and fearing criticism. In the article
Living For Likes Julia Kirk, a writer and a student at Rider University studying communications,
explains this imagine scenario: You post a photo or a status and every

Voting In Democracy
It is the very early stages of the change of human freedom in business. Human freedom provides
benefits to businesses as much as the governments. While there are economic benefits to very large
organisations, there are human benefits to small organisations. Another point is that information
technology has reduced the costs significantly which benefits all the organisations.
There is a question of who makes the decision. It is said that it should be done by the states, however
it is also said that some states are more equal than others. For example, G8 is consired as the most
equals. Moreover, there is also G7. The powerful states have institutions such as IMF or WTO.
Voting is one of the key acts of democracy and also a mandatory action in some countries. While I
agree that voting is an important action, I believe this should be an optional right.
Democracy means the freedom of acts and voting is just one act to be performed. Hence, it is clear
that to make the voting compulsory contradicts with the notion of democracy. Although the propents
of mandatory voting claim that voting runs the democracy, it is often forgotten that giving freedom
should not be underestimated. Consequently, in that manner, freedom also means the freedom of
voting.
On the other hand, there can be drawed some conclusions if voting is made compulsory in a
democratic country. First of all, this puts pressure on people to vote and it can cause serious problems
unless they are sure to what or whome to

Government Corruption In Mexico City
The Olympic games are a two weeklong tournament where the best athletes compete with solidarity
and fair play to develop humanism and respect among every nation. Host candidates are chosen by the
IOC (International Olympic Committee) according to specific demands and requirements.
Nevertheless, chosen cities are meant to promise their entire commitment and effort for investing in
infrastructure, public security, public health and tourism. Despite this optimism, the prevailing
concern is that the costs will increase for those living in the host nation, while the mayor benefits will
be for the IOC and all the multinational partners involved. For example, while Brazil spends billions
of dollars, the IOC is expected to earn billions too through sponsorship deals, owning TV rights and
many other income fees. While new stadiums and new luxury hotels are built, citizens living in the
favelas will be forced to leave their homes just for the government to exhibit the perfect image of a

Bob Dylan AndThe Definition Of Success Everything present in the universe is a relatable term just like the word success . Like most of the definitions, the interpretation of success varies with the people s perception so it is rather impossible to understand success in a simple way. In the present era, most of the people relate success with the materialistic achievements such as wealth, power and fame while some prefer to evaluate success by assessing the contribution of the person to the society. Many great poets, politicians, writers and songwriters have inked their own version of the definition of success and one of the great many quotes by Bob Dylan is A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do. Pros And ConsLeading Up To The American Revolution CIRCUMSTANCES LEADING UP TO THE REVOLUTION On August 19, 1953, the American CIA helped to overthrow a democratically elected prime minister in Iran Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh, who was elected in 1950 and restored the Shah to his Monarchical leadership position ( A short account of 1953 Coup ). The Shah was a modernizer for Iran in many respects, promoting the growth of a modern economy and a middle class, and championing women s rights. A Society Fightingfor Social Change Essay The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win (Marx). While living in London as an adult Karl Marx realized that he was living in a very rich country but only small portion of the people were benefiting from the riches of the country and the larger portion was suffering from poverty. The people that were enjoying the riches of the country he referred to as capitalists, these people seek profit from the factories and businesses that the owned. Proletarians needed to say what it was that they needed and wanted so that their capitalist could have been aware of what they were interested in, what they wanted and needed in order for them to survive and what they needed in the organization while working for them to be comfortable, this was the only way that changes would have be able to come about. The North NetherlandishPainter Hieronymus Bosch As The... The North Netherlandish painter Hieronymus Bosch was considered as the most enigmatic artist of his epoch. According to an earlier Spanish writer, Don Felipe de Guevara, who reports that Bosch painted bizarre and wondrous figures because his themes were so often focus on Hell but that he executed even these creatures with decorum and good judgment. Bosch blends his innovative aesthetic principles into his religious paintings, this could tell in two perspectives: firstly, Bosch s works presented with them with an astonishingly new version of religious subject matter that mirrored the haunting obsessions of the inner man; second, the numerous imitations and travesties of his pious works that were considered authentic or reliable copies of his paintings had, in fact, only obscured and perverted the true meaning of his are and misled critics in interpreting his religious sentiment. It earned him the reputation of a bizarre visionary. The famous Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli had visualized the funnel shaped hell in 1480~1490 according to Dante s depiction of the Inferno in the Divina Commedia, yet in the following decade, Hieronymus Bosch rendered the foreign hermeneutic text in a different way by his brush. Whether a person leaves a society does not change anything to the fact that this society will still contain suicides. Sociology s task thus consists of discovering the qualities and characteristics of such social facts, which can be discovered through a quantitative or experimental approach (Durkheim extensively relied on statistics). One can thus argue that Durkheim defended a form of sociological positivism.[7] Method and objectivity In his Rules of the Sociological Method (1895), Durkheim expressed his will to establish a method which would guarantee sociology s truly scientific character. One of the questions raised by the author concerns the objectivity of the sociologist: how may one study an object which, from the very beginning, conditions and relates to the observer? According to Durkheim, observation must be as impartial and impersonal as possible, even though a perfectly objective observation in this sense may never be attained. Sociology should therefore privilege comparison rather than the study of singular independent facts. Consequently, a social fact must always be studied according to its relation with other social facts, never according to the individual who studies it. Ecuador Descriptive Writing Iwoke up today at around 6 in the morning to get to the airport. My spouse and I loaded the luggage in the car and we were on our way. Somehow we managed to arrive, although I was still half asleep. A few months earlier, we purchased a $1,420 combined total for two tickets, which included a tour around the Galapagos Islands. We handed the tickets to the flight attendant and boarded the plane. It would be an exhausting 7 and a half hour flight from California to our stop in Ecuador, but both of us had saved up our hard earned money for this trip, so we were excited for what it had in store. We just got dropped off by the bus at a spot by the beach. It is so different compared to the beaches in California. For one, the water is not nearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I took long, quiet steps towards it, thinking it would take off. But suddenly, the tortoise s eyes met mine. She stared blankly at me, at my stunned face. My wife, followed behind me as we looked deeply at the khaki, fairly large tortoise as she buried herself into a wide hole flooded with thick sand. As she climbed down, at least a foot deep in the ground, me and my spouse continued on with our adventure. Every animal we encountered was like a gateway into a brand new world. Such creativity was put into every animal. We wandered for miles, my wife and I. As the day grew into evening, yet again we found ourselves with same pellucid water as we did before. My spouse and I, remembered the amazing creature we encountered earlier. We approached the hole that the Galapagos tortoise had disinterred in to. I picked up a stick and pushed the moist sand to the edge of the hole. And what I saw, I couldn t believe my eyes. We stared into the hole, smiling and infused with joy. Persuasive Essay OnHow To Eat Following the French restaurant scene, a women s etiquette class on how to eat spaghetti appropriately takes place in an Italian restaurant. The teacher speaks to the class that they should only catch three or four strings of spaghetti and eat them silently. However, after a westerner eats spaghetti casually and makes a loud noise, the entire etiquette class, including the teacher, begins to shovel the food into their mouths. At this point, the pleasure of eating food has taken place of the eating tradition of classiness and elegance. Additionally, the film shows a man who is suffering from a toothache because of eating too much. Even when he is feeling the pain, he is unable to resist the temptation of dim sum on the subway, which leads him to a trip to the dental office. His tooth has such a huge abscess that the dentist and nurses almost vomit. For the man, food brings him so much pleasure that he breaks the boundaries of healthy eating to enjoy the food. Moreover, after the dentist states that he should start by eating something soft, he buys an ice cream cone right away. The ice cream attracts a kid who is forbidden from eating sweets by her mom. The man gives the ice cream cone to the child, and the child guiltily indulges through the ice cream cone. For the child, food also represents pleasure that breaks the boundary of healthy eating. Derek Walcott sOmeros and St Lucia Essay Omeros and St Lucia Derek Walcott amp;#8217;s Omeros is an epic story which fits well into the classical tradition. Its numerous echoes of Homeric writing combined with the use of characters amp;#8217; names from Homer amp;#8217;s stories are clear evidence to the fact that there is a major parallel to Homer amp;#8217;s Iliad and Odyssey. There is no debate in this obvious fact. Omeros and Derek Walcott amp;#8217;s writing, however, are much more than a mere reproduction of classical Greek and Roman themes. Today, St. Lucia is a multicultural democracy which became independent from English rule in 1979. This conflict of these two European powers is a theme which Walcott carries over to the story. In Omeros, Walcott uses Achille and Hector to show the struggle between these two nations. In one place, Walcott says, amp;#8220;...An island called Helen..., ; Bk 2, XIX, i). Essay on EdgarAllan Poe s The Masque Of The Red Death Edgar Allan Poe was a writer who believed every single word contained meaning and in his own words expressed this idea in brevity only he is capable, there should be no word written, of which tendency, direct or indirect, is not to the one pre established design. (Poe 244). To this effect, Poe drenches his works in symbolism and allegory. Especially in shorter works, Poe assigns meaning to the smallest object, explicitly deriving exurbanite significance within concise descriptions. Because inevitability of time and death seems to be the recurring theme, the most likely significance behind the number of apartments would be the seven stages of life. The first apartment is said to be placed most eastwardly and is blue in décor, which could signify the rising of the sun, the beginning of life, and the color of day. And the seventh, and most westerly apartment, is black with red accents and represents the end of life, the setting of the sun, and death. Poe did not intend a specific meaning for the number seven, just for the reader to be aware of the passing of time and the idea that the prince was trying to recreate a perfect world complete with all the appliances of pleasure Without was the Red Death. (238). The Prince s recreation of the world is ironic because it is modeled after the one the Prince and his followers are trying to escape. The seven perfect rooms foreshadow the evitable downfall of perfection. The number seven appears six times in the text which may lead to some significance behind that number as well. Six could represent human morality, the devil, spiritual imperfection. Maltese Falcon MovieBook Comparison Essay Solon Bowden 2/9/08 Paul K. The Maltese Falcon Comparison Samuel Spade of The Maltese Falcon novel by Dashiell Hammett is quite different from Samuel Spade of The Maltese Falcon motion picture. The book was written a good decade before that version of the movie was produced and in a much more casual time period. The novel focuses on making Sam out to be a more complex character than the movie does. He is not just the good guy as he is portrayed more so in the movie. The time period may have had a lot to do with the differences between the 1941 movie and the book, published in 1929. The first thing to consider is that the late 1920 s were a much more relaxed, party era, while the early 1940 s were an era of strict decorum. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another striking difference between the novel and the film is the portrayal of the femme fatale antihero Brigid O Shaughnessy. The book, once again in stride with the time period it was published in, portrays her as a very sexually charged woman, someone who is without a doubt willing to use her sexuality to her advantage in any situation. An example of her comfort with her sexuality is seen when she strips in a bathroom for Spade and In her mien was pride without defiance or embarrassment (196). The movie, however, shows her in a more traditional role of a woman, someone who uses her femininity to her advantage, playing the poor helpless girl more often. Instead of having Brigid strip in the movie, she merely pleads with Sam, begging him to believe that she did not take the money. In its entirety, The Maltese Falcon novel reflects a more evolved character in both Sam Spade and Brigid O Shaughnessy. Each character is real enough to know that right decisions aren t always clear and that sometimes no one can be trusted, as is seen when Spade searches Brigid s room or strip searches her. While the Sam Spade of the movie still reserved his doubts about people he met, he was a much less multi faceted character, one who could still make all the right choices and by the end of the story save the day. At the same time, the novel begs the question by the end of the story did Sam Spade make the right decision? The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Value OfThe Balance Sheet The main purpose of the balance sheet is to reflect and explain the accounting equation: Assets = Liabilities + Owner s Equity. This equation is the fundamental model for recording and reporting transactions. It is essentially useful for showing what the company owns, what the company owes, and what does the owner s equity remains. The ordering of the assets and the liabilities help the user to assess the liquidity of the company. We can also see in the many versions of the Submarine Mare myth that Brahma plays a large role as well. In this myth, a giant fire was threatening the universe so Brahma put the fire in the body of a mare with fiery ambrosia in her mouth and then put the mare in the ocean to be kept until the final flood (Caldwell, 86). Another incident where the three gods of the Trimurti are classified together in a myth is when Prithu, an ancient Hindu king, was being sanctified as a king. The three gods of the Trimurti were each giving Prithu a gift at the celebration with Brahma giving him an armour of Vedic incantations, Vishnu giving him the sudarśana discus, and Shiva giving him a sword engraved with ten moons like marks. Brahma s gift intentionally was to relate to spiritual force, while Vishnu s related to physical force and Shiva s gift to fertility (the moon being a symbol of production) (Bailey, 157 158). Another example of the Trimurti functioning together develops in a description of the lingodbhava myth. In this scenario, Brahma is described approaching Vishnu, who was reclined on his snake couch with many servants to his beckon call and his great power was on display as Vishnu was personifying himself as a female. A quarrel brews between the two of them about who is more superior to the other. Eventually, Shiva appears ...in the form of a fiery lingam, a symbol of Shiva, whereby he proves his superiority over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper OnIo Volcanology of Io Volcanos have played a colossal part in human history; mainly by destroying cities and killing the people in them. While Earth is volcanically active there are other locations that surpass it in activity. To find one of these places one must go through the Kuiper belt to the gas giant Jupiter. Jupiter, while the biggest planet in our solar system comes second to Saturn for the most amount of moons. There are sixty three total moons and fifty three of them have been officially named. Whether it be size or composition, they all vary greatly from one another. The four biggest, known as the Galilean moons, were named after the astronomer Galileo who discovered them over 400 years ago. Their names are Io, Europa, Ganymede, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The different types of eruptions that come from the volcanoes that stretch across Io play a significant role in its volcanology. There are three popular types of eruptions that occur on Io. These are: flow dominated, explosion dominated, and Intra patera eruptions. Flow dominated eruptions produce extensive compound lava flow fields... similar to compound inflationary flows commonly observed on Hawaiian eruptions on Earth (Lopes 2015). These flows make up a major terrain type on Io. Many of the major flows are produced by build ups of small breakouts of lava on top of older flows. They differ from the other popular eruptions because they can last for years, have a low output of energy, and can have flow fields larger than 300 kilometers. The opposite of this style of eruption is explosion dominated eruptions. Where most of the energy of the eruption is directed into a short lived, vigorous event that lasts days to weeks... can produce extensive pyroclastic deposits and lava flow fields, and typically a large ( 200 km high) plume, thought to originate from the interaction of silicate magma with sulfurous volatiles (Lopes 2015). These eruptions occur when magma deep within Io s molten mantle reaches the surface and cause alterations in the near infrared brightness. They also have the potential to cause colossal short lived changes around them. For example, in 1997 an eruption produced a 400 kilometer wide deposit of silicate and sulfur dioxide. The powerful eruption in recorded history was explosion dominated and observed by astronomers on February 22, 2001. The most common of the three eruption types, Intra patera eruptions, occur with or without associated plumes, and are thought to be lava lakes (Lopes 2015). Generally they have flat floors and steep walls. Unlike features that are similar on Earth they are usually not located at the peak of a shield volcano. Their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Meditation History There islimited knowledge concerning the history of meditation, but some researchers think that meditation could have been discovered when people sat at campsite fires thousands of years ago and looked at the flames. This theory goes well with the known fact that staring at a candle flame can induce one type of meditation. As time passed different forms of it were developed. Books from India called tantras speak of this type of prayer as far back as five thousand years ago. Archaeologists discovered a statue of a yogi in the Indus Valley Civilization and this shows that meditation in the practice of yoga could be as ancient as the first Indian civilization. Buddha was a big advocate of meditation. He became established as a teacher about 500 B.C. His ideas were stretched into various Asian countries and in other places people created different forms of meditation based on his teachings. In Islam the Sufi tradition of meditation was purported and the leaders (Sufis) think that when Mohamed began Islam that is when meditation started with that religion. As the world is developing and has been over the past decades, certain countries have had a significant increase in economic growth but it is said that there are risks and effects of globalization. This paper will talk about how globalization effects developed countries and what countries need in order to benefit from it. As mentioned earlier, it is believed that globalization benefits world economies. This is because it can increase their standard of living, creates access to new markets, and even widens the wage gap, but there are some consequences as well. In the long term, there are many beneficial outcomes but short term, people may suffer, especially the poor. The poor will ultimately become poorer because there will be a decrease in employment. Globalization has often been thought to be the primary reason for income inequality within a nation. Take for example the United States of America. A growing number of American s believe that globalization is increasing the gap between the rich and poor, even depleting those who are already poor. Essentially, making the rich even richer, and the poor even poorer. A famous result due to Wolfgang Stolper and Paul Samuelson states that some groups will necessarily suffer long term losses in income from free trade (Rodrik 2011, 38). The technological advances take the jobs away from the people but make it easier for the country in the long run. A popular criticism of globalization is outsourcing. While outsourcing provides jobs to people in one country, it takes away those jobs from people of another country, leaving many without opportunities. The opposing side would point out that American consumers are able to benefit from lower prices which were made possible because of cheaper labor. Defending either side of this ... Gender Roles InThe Taming Of The Shrew Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew was already renown for its boasting a battle of the sexes . After all, the conflict of gender relations are so blatant in the piece, that they are nearly impossible to ignore. However, it was in 1967 that the sexism was clearly spelled out in Franco Zeffirelli s film adaptation of the famous play. Consequently, even those that are too languid to read the play, will abandon their indolence and feverishly examine the role of gender in Zeffirelli s motion picture. Specifically, at a first glance it appears as if Shakespeare characterizes Katherina as inherently evil. Yet, then it becomes evident that male chauvinism permeates every scene as the audience witnesses the strong female lead of Katherina be forced into submission by both her husband and her society, the patriarchal Petruchio and Padua. Therefore, it is possible to ascertain that Shakespeare is communicating the perils of sexism. For starters, the Katherina that is present at the exposition, exudes a ... Influence Of MediaOn Self Esteem How Influential is The Media Affecting the Self esteem of Adolescents Self esteem is a global evaluative dimension of the self and determines if you are satisfied with certain aspects of your life. For example, your appearance, your personality, your abilities and your relationship with others. The media is a powerful source of tool to manipulate adolescents that portrays unrealistic images that affect the way they feel about themselves. I believe that the social media does affect the self esteem of adolescent s due to self image. Studies prove that the media can have a negative impact on self image. TV, movies, magazines and the internet all pressures what their bodies should look like. In the article, Too sexy too soon: A mother s battle against the sexualization of girls by Tina Wolridge quoted, One of the hardest responsibilities of being a parent to a 13 year old girl is explaining the sexualized images of young women that are seen on TV and in skimpy clothing, magazines and sexy videos...I want my daughter to be valued for her mind, for what s on the inside and for being a good person. I want her to understand that you don t need to get your value from your looks alone (Wolridge, 2013). It is sad that millions of teens believe the lies and resort to unhealthy measures to try to fit themselves into that impossible mold. They feel so much less because in their heads they see that s what it takes to be noticed or worthy. Images they see are nothing, but air brushed ideas of what is the vision of perfection. The insecurity one holds buries the true beauty and worthiness that person actual holds. It is sad how the media can have a negative impact to make someone feel ugly and insecure about themselves. They all should be able to love their self for who they really are and how they present themselves no matter what anyone else says. Voting In Democracy Itis the very early stages of the change of human freedom in business. Human freedom provides benefits to businesses as much as the governments. While there are economic benefits to very large organisations, there are human benefits to small organisations. Another point is that information technology has reduced the costs significantly which benefits all the organisations. There is a question of who makes the decision. It is said that it should be done by the states, however it is also said that some states are more equal than others. For example, G8 is consired as the most equals. Moreover, there is also G7. The powerful states have institutions such as IMF or WTO. Voting is one of the key acts of democracy and also a mandatory action in some countries. While I agree that voting is an important action, I believe this should be an optional right. Democracy means the freedom of acts and voting is just one act to be performed. Hence, it is clear that to make the voting compulsory contradicts with the notion of democracy. Although the propents of mandatory voting claim that voting runs the democracy, it is often forgotten that giving freedom should not be underestimated. Consequently, in that manner, freedom also means the freedom of voting. On the other hand, there can be drawed some conclusions if voting is made compulsory in a democratic country. First of all, this puts pressure on people to vote and it can cause serious problems unless they are sure to what or whome to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite this optimism, the prevailing concern is that the costs will increase for those living in the host nation, while the mayor benefits will be for the IOC and all the multinational partners involved.
