The Genetic Code Essay
In the year of 1920 a theory created by two different scientists was born, Russian Scientist/Chemist
A.I.Oparin and an English Geneticist J.B.S both developed this theory known as The Primordial Soup
Theory . This theory basically states that all life 3.8 3.5 billon years ago came from a tiny puddle filled
with amino acids and elements from Earth s atmosphere. An experiment to test this theory was called
Miller Urey experiment courtesy of scientist Stanley Miller and Harold Urey. In this experiment the
two used electric shocks/charges and were able to birth organic mixtures (compounds).Oparin and
J.B.S both stated that a solution of methane, hydrogen, vapored water, and ammonia could be
conjoined and made into amino acids. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyways this RNA world theory claims that RNA is the origin of all living organisms on planet earth.
Even though there is no experiment to back this hypothesis there is however research and claims in
Carl Woese s book by the name of The Genetic Code . RNA is a protein also known as ribonucleic
acid, both RNA and DNA house tons of our (human beings) genetic codes. Seeing that the theory says
that it might not be the exact origin of life on earth it stilled played a part in evolution. Also recent
cells and those that came before it were said to have evolved and bonded with enzyme compound to
make a unit. Enzymes bonded with RNA were stated that they made a system which stored and
created life and evolved. Community Clay Hypothesis states that biological (living) organisms have
ties to being evolved from clay. Hyrdogel clay (water substance clay) was believed to have formed
over billions of years consisting chemicals that were confined and begun to produce biological matter
of dioxyribose nucleic acid (DNA) and forms of proteins. These chemicals were said to have had
evolved and to have made complicated biological structures/materials. Sadly there s no evidence in the
form of experiment to back this claim up but further studies are showing that this theory might have
some potential in the

Comparison Of The Progressive And Populist Movement
The Progressive and Populist Movements of the Late 19th and early 20th century were both
movements that sought to give specific groups in the population better representation/rights as a
whole. The Populist Movement began due to major economic changes brought on by the railroad.
Farmers could no longer make a living selling their crops due to overproduction leading to low prices.
The Populist Party was established in order to promote the economic and political interests of farmers.
One notable member of the Populist Party was William Jennings Bryan, a Presidential candidate who
believed in inflating the money supply and the coinage of silver. The party would go on to create
Granger Laws, laws designed to place government regulations on railroads.

Speech On White Privilege
Privilege is a set of unearned benefits given to people who fit into a specific social group .
Any system of privilege be it a family, a workplace, or a society is organized around three basic
principles: dominance, identification, and centeredness .(1)
For example, a system of white privilege, is white dominated. which means the default is for white
people to occupy positions of power . White dominance does not mean that ALL white people are
powerful and it also does not guarantee only success for them or only failure for everybody else. But
the powerful tend to almost always be white, and when a member of a non dominant group occupies a
position of power, it will be the exception to the rule, such as Barack Obama being called the black ...

These different overlapping structures make it impossible to draw a distinct line between black and
white, oppressed and privileged. Someone is not simply oppressed or privileged: we are all
simultaneously both by different aspects of our identities. I for example, am privileged as a caucasian,
but oppressed as a woman.
I am standing here today talking to you about this issue because I consider myself to be a very
privileged person. I have received an internationally acclaimed education, am of full physical and
mental health and i have never had to worry for my safety because of my skin colour or religious
beliefs. I have been exposed to a multitude of cultures and ethnicities throughout my life which is why
privilege is something that I have always been very conscious of.
Now, unfortunately, in the current world, somehow, because somebody once said so, I have more
opportunities in life than someone who is much smarter and much more talented, but was born with a
physical disability? Or born with a pigment in their skin? I, for one, do not see the logic behind

Kumon Bedroom Observation Report
As I completed my work in Kumon,a math and reading educational center that helps children with
standardized testing; all I could focus on was the prize drawers. Kumon s one large gray room with
seven or eight long tables. The owners of Kumon are an Asian couple, Mr. and Mrs. Chang. When I
completed my work and hastily checked it over I rushed to turn it into Mr. Chang. He quickly and
happily reviewed it, I received a hundred. My best friend Muskaan stood next to one of their helpers
Mr. Jordan, she managed to pull out a hundred too. Muskaan, my fifth grade friend and I (a fourth
grader)carpool to Kumon after school every Monday and Wednesday. Since both of us managed to
pull out hundreds so each of us were awarded five Kumon dollars. A Kumon dollars allows students to
buy prizes. Kailey what are will you get from the store? Muskaan questioned. I m buying the glorious
highlighter, I exclaimed excitedly. The highlighter is truly astonishing it s a triple sided highlighter
with my three favorite colors. A vibrant pink, a neon yellow and a light green. We walked over to the
glorious white prize box. The box s or a set of plain white office drawers. Muskaan turned into a

that a room with modern decor with a twist with Asian decor could be intimidating. I could not look at

Essay on The New Archaeology Movement
With the evolution of available technologies and methodologies, some archaeologists became
frustrated with the traditional ways of archaeology; they felt that the new technologies should be used
to improve archaeology and the outcomes of professionals in the field. The New Archaeology was a
movement that sought to contribute to the existing anthropological knowledge of human behavior by
emerging as a science and separating itself from the historical approach. New archaeology did not
merely incorporate scientific technology, but it also employed various scientific methods and
approaches.
Lewis Binford was the most influential figure in New Archaeology; he considered that cultures were
composed of three interrelated subsystems: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Culture cannot be treated as a process because, in doing so, one would not take into account the many
characteristics that distinguish cultures from each other and that would alter the outcome of each
civilization.
Furthermore, Binford believed that archaeology should contribute to explaining the significance of
past occurrences, instead of merely reconstructing them; consequently, he promoted the use of explicit
theory (Renfrew and Bahn 41). Archaeologists were to formulate a theory for an event that had
occurred in the past and would need to provide proof in the form of sites and artifacts to prove that the
event actually occurred. New Archaeology supported the notion of using theories to explain the past.
This would force archaeologists to provide proof for their conclusions, instead of merely claiming that
something is correct based on his authority in the field.
Additionally, this approach would change archaeological procedure to a scientific one: the appropriate
procedure was now seen as formulating hypotheses, constructing models, and deducing their
consequences (Renfrew and Bahn 41). Implementing a scientific method for archaeological research
would undermine some artifacts and other findings and regard them as unimportant. If archaeologists
were concerned with proving a hypothesis correct, they may overlook an artifact that would not
contribute to the hypothesis, but is still significant. New Archaeology promoted this idea; the idea

Oresteia
Oresteia The Issue of Justice in Aeschylus Eumenides
The concept of justice is manifested through the three plays of Aeschylus Oresteia. The old tradition
of justice, the private blood feud, caused an ungoverned succession of violent acts that spiralled
uncontrollably. Aegisthus, Clytemnestra s lover, is introduced in Agamemnon; he desires vengeance
for the plot contrived by Agamemnon s father (Ag: 1605 1611).1 Neither Agamemnon nor Aegisthus
took part in this plot and yet as the chorus explains (Ag: 755 6)
But ancient Violence longs to breed,
new violence comes
when its fatal hour comes,
The justice system of this period demanded that one avenge the death of a family member, this can be
seen in The Libation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the violent acts of reprisal do not end with Agamemnon. With this act comes a twist within
the traditional system of justice. In The Libation Bearers, Orestes must choose to avenge his father s
murder. The twist comes in that by avenging his father, Orestes will be committing matricide, a crime
revolting to the gods and especially to the Furies. Orestes is placed in a no win situation; he must
avenge his father or else be plagued by (Lib: 285 6)
.................leprous boils that ride the flesh,
their wild teeth gnawing the mother tissue,
Unfortunately, the same fate awaits him if he commits matricide, thereby avenging his father. Orestes
chooses the latter and is besieged by the hounds of mother s hate. (Lib: 1055 6). Through this
sequence of murderous events, Aeschylus demonstrates the complexity and futility of the blood feud
as a system of justice. There are no winners, and the cycle of violence does not end. Thus, this cycle of
vengeance is not justice.
In the Eumenides, Aeschylus manifests a new system of justice for the more civilised times. Orestes,
plagued by the Furies, turns to Apollo (Eum: 88 90)
Lord Apollo, you know the rules of justice
know them well. Now learn

The Nature of Death in Emily Dickinson s Poems Essay
Emily Dickinson once said, Dying is a wild night and a new road. Some people welcome death with
open arms while others cower in fear when confronted in the arms of death. Through the use of
ambiguity, metaphors, personification and paradoxes Emily Dickinson still gives readers a sense of
vagueness on how she feels about dying. Emily Dickinson inventively expresses the nature of death in
the poems, I felt a Funeral, in my Brain (280) , I Heard a fly Buzz When I Died (465) and Because I
could not stop for Death (712) .
Emily Dickinson, who achieved more fame after her death, is said to be one of the greatest American
poets of all time. Dickinson communicated through letters and notes and according to Amy Paulson
Herstek, author of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dickinson s poems provide that secret gateway to the supernatural that Ferlazzo is referring to.
In the poem I felt a Funeral, in my Brain, Emily Dickinson uses symbolism to convey some sort of
mental funeral that the speaker is experiencing. The funeral image that Dickinson depicts in the first
line of the poem: I felt a Funeral, in my Brain, does not literally represent a funeral, but it is used to
symbolism a mental breakdown and agony that the speaker is going through. By using this symbolism,
the speaker is imagining the death of old ways of thought. Dickinson writes that when the funeral
service was like a Drum (Dickinson 43) and that it Kept beating beating till I thought My Mind was
going numb (43), leaving readers believing that the speaker is going mad. By depicting this image,
Dickinson reveals that with the death of old thought; there is some sort of numbness or pain that is
necessary to progress to a better state (Goldfarb 2). By repeating the beating sound two times, along
with the rhyming sequence in the previous lines of the poem, Dickinson is stressing the numbness and
the importance of it.
Dickinson uses ambiguity to stress the difficulty of knowing and understanding certain experiences
and thoughts to the reader. By being deliberately elusive, Dickinson makes the speaker out to be some
sort of hero. In a critical essay of I felt a Funeral, in my Brain, Sheldon Goldfarb

Utilitarianism And Virtue Ethics
Virtue ethicist may be defined as concepts that emphasize the role of character and virtue in moral
theory rather than making difference through action. They emphasis on undertakings that encourages
or makes a person more generous or benevolent. According to Aristotle virtue are of two kinds;
intellectual virtue which originate from birth and grows from teaching and through experience and
time. The second one is moral virtue which comes through human habits especially one that is hard to
give up, (Aristotle, 1931). It is important to differentiate this from deontologist which uphold the the
concept of doing unto others what you want others to do unto you. Utilitarianism in contrast with
virtue ethicist emphases on actions that give the maximum benefit to a large number of people as
possible.

We can come to the conclusion that we are required to ensure our relationship with the Earth and it s
inhabitants is just and they re able to live full, dignified, lives; that we need to ensure our existence as
humans is sustainable throughout the future generations to come; that it s an environmental injustice to
not reduce our consumption of especially toxic chemicals; and finally, the quality our person in
question seems to lack, is the courage to stand up to the fear and powerlessness we might feel towards
those violating the previous three virtues. When lacking that virtue, it s important to be reminded that
many other people succumb to fear, especially with terrifying new scientific knowledge being released
on a regular basis showing our carbon impact as a society. Having the courage just gives individuals
and societies the strength to persevere through the harder moments of environmental justice. Having
all of these very important virtues means someone s character has the right amount of eudaimonia

Ivan the Terrible Essay
Ivan IV was a complicated man, with a complicated past, in a complicated country, in a complicated
time; his story is not an easy one. Ivan the terrible, the man, could never be completely understood in
a few words, nor in a few pages, and only perhaps in a few volumes. A man of incredible range his
dreadfulness could only be matched by his magnificence, his love by his hatred.
Ivan life began in the same fashion it would continue: in a tempest. His father murdered when he was
three years old, his suspected murderer Ivan s uncle. Following this disaster Ivan succeeded to the
throne. His mother, Jelena Glinsky, crowned herself regent and protector , an ambitious choice that
would prove deadly to her self, and detrimental to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But on the other side Ivan was, a avowed scholar; such a devoted Christian that he gained callouses on
his forehead from penance and prayer.
In 1547 Ivan was crowned Tsar of all Tsars. It was also time for Ivan to take a wife. He held what was
little more than a beauty contest amongst the noble women. Ivan was charmed by the beautiful
Anastasia Romanovna, and married her soon after. It was against all odds a love match; there would
be 13 years of happy marriage, although only two children would survive to adulthood.
During these happy years of marriage Anastasia acted as quieting force in Ivan s life. It was in these
years that Ivan would consolidate Russia, he ruled advisory counselor, and dispel corruption and
excesses from his courtiers. It is a misconception that Ivan is known as the terrible, a glitch in
translation. Ivan was known as Grozny , the awesome, and it was in these years that he earned the
title.
In 1153 Ivan suddenly became ill, he demanded allegiance to his oldest son Dmitri. The boyars
balked. Ivan recovered but his mistrust of the nobility grew. Dmitri was dropped into a river and
drowned, Anastasia died in 1560. These two events snapped Ivan s mind out of the harmony it for
thirteen had enjoyed. It also marked the beginning of the second half of Ivan s reign, split like so much
else about Ivan s person.
Ivan peace gone, he threatened to abdicate the

Why Is Reincarnation Real
In urbandictionary.com, reincarnation is The theory that something of a person survives their physical
death and is born again in a new body on this earth, often as part of a continual process., meaning that
once you die you can be reborn, in an endless cycle. I believe that reincarnation is real because ancient
egyptian believed in it, children have claimed to remember their past live, transferred birthmarks, and
when people have deja vu.
My first reason for believing that reincarnation is real is because ancient egyptians believed that
depending how good you were, was how you were going to going to be born in your next life. For
example, you could be poor but if you were good in that life, you were going to be born in a higher
status in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been reports of children remembering places which they have never been before and
reporting things in detail of events that have happened before. A James Leininger was a child who
began to have nightmares, at the age of two, of an airplane crash and believed to be a pilot from War
World II, In the article 6 Extraordinary cases of kids who remember their past lives it states, Dr.
Tucker obtained additional documents for several of James Leininger s statements, and they were
made before anyone in the family had even heard of James Huston or the USS Natoma Baby. The
parents were skeptical about what their son told them at first, but after searching what James told them
they found that what he said was true. There was a man who died in an airplane in WWII from an
attack from the japanese, James could also remember some of the soldiers names that he claimed were
his friends which were real names of soldiers who fought in WWII.
My third reason is when people have transferred birthmarks. In the article 10 Claims of Physical
Evidence For Reincarnation it states, In parts of Asia, tradition dictates that when a person dies,
relatives will mark his or her body often using soot with the hope that the soul of the deceased will be
reincarnated within the same family. Family members would mark the deceased in a part of their
bodies and see if that same mark would appear in the birth of another family member

Determination of a Rate Equation Essay
Determination of a Rate Equation
Rate equation has the form rate = k [A]x[B]y which shows how the rate of a chemical reaction
depends on the concentration of the reactants
(A B) and the rate constant k. The rate equation normally indicates what species are involved in the
rate determining step and how many species are involved.
A rate equation is used to describe how the concentration of a product increases or the concentration
of the reactants decreases with time, the equation also indicates how the concentration of one or more
reactants directly affects the rate. Occasionally it can even be the concentration of a product that
affects the rate. In general the rate equation for the reaction: A + B C + D

Egocertervilles Book Report
Emily s Travels
It was dusk as I walked along the oceans edge, the air is humid and tastes salty. All of my
surroundings are hazy. I do not know where I am or how I came to be here, yet my heart rate is slow
and steady. I see a dimly lit light off in the distance, so I decide to go investigate. As I draw closer I
realize it is a lamppost situated beside a boardwalk to a small town. As I looked down I found the most
peculiar tracks in the sand, it resembled the shapes of a humans hand. Curiously, I ventured into the
quaint little village. I followed the boardwalk, it took me nearly all night to find the town. By

fallen asleep reading. I realized as I fell asleep that my subconscious took the way Gulliver made fun
of England s Government and applied it to the problems of our world today. Then it hit me, people
crawled around on their hands and knees because nobody was willing to stand up for what they
believe in. Their eyes were mirroring the desires of their hearts, so in the man s eyes when I saw
himself in his eyes, he was the center of his own world. When I tripped of the woman who had he

hollow from the absence of God filling us with His presence. When I stumbled into the building with

Components Of The Performance Management
Several components of the performance likewise strategic planning and management, accountability
of performance, performance auditing and performance measurement were part of undisputed
characteristics. In a similar vein, Hood (1991: 4 5) noted several characteristics of the NPM, he
outlines seven elements of NPM, whereas points number 2 and 3 are refer to the components of the
performance management. 1. Hands on professional management, An active discretionary control of
organization by a named individual at the top, which is free to manage. In a simpler words Turner
(2002) plead this first elements as letting the managers manage . 2. Explicit standards and measures of
performance, Definition of goals, target, indicators of success in expressed preferably in quantitative
terms. 3. Greater emphasis on output controls, Resource allocation and rewards linked to measured
performance and the break up of bureaucratic personnel management. 4. Disaggregation of units in the
public sector, Unbundling of organisations to create decentralized units operating at arm length . 5.
Greater competition in the public sector, Move to term contracts and public tendering procedures. 6.
Stress on public sector style of management practice Move away from traditional public service ethics
in terms of hiring and rewards. 7. Stress on greater discipline and parsimony in resource

Similarities Between Exit East And A Golden Age
Tahmima Anam s A Golden Age , published first in 2007 is set in the city of Dhaka during
Bangladesh s war of liberation in 1971 . Bangladesh then formed the eastern wing of the
Pakistan and after many years of negligent and contemptuous governance, became the battlefield for
the Pakistani Army and India backed Bangladeshi armed fighters.
This work has themes which elicit comparisons with Exit West by Mohsin Hamid . Both of the books
feature a city torn with civil war and main characters who are subject to a sudden upheaval in their
lives once the infighting starts. Unlike Hamid s magical realism inspired dystopian utopia which
envisions a world without border, Anam s work is a narrative firmly set in the bloody history pages of

Eventually as her children threw themselves into the struggle, she too unable to deny them, ends up
contributing to the struggle.
The most striking difference between A Golden Age and Exit West is the fact that the characters are
fighting for their idea of a home. The children think of home when Bangladesh is independent, and
Rehana when her family is safe and together in their house. Despite temporarily leaving Dhaka for
some time, they makes sure to return to their original abode, indicating that their struggle was for their
land itself.
The city of Dhaka itself show many characteristics that can be seen in almost all large cities.
There is some sort of degree of variety in population. Here, Muslims and Hindus coexist in a city
bustling with activity. Rehana s friend circle itself consists of members of both the groups as they
carry on with their mundane gossip and gatherings. The Dhaka college, like educational institutions in

major urban colleges in terms of such mass movements. It is there where Sohail and Maya get a

The Consequences Of Designer Babies
There are sometimes immediate or later consequences as a result of an action. Therefore, with the
creation of designer babies, it may lead to major or minor changes. What may happen in the present,
may impact the future. An important concern was that genetic screening and modification could be
used as the tools of new eugenics, a popular theory during the early twentieth century that sought to
remove from the population traits labeled undesirable (Lerner, 2012, para. 10). The main purpose of
designer babies was to create healthier and improved babies, but it may lead to disparity in health.
People who did not undergo this procedure will not be on the same level to those who did; thus, may
lead to discrimination of non designer babies. Therefore,

Social Concentration Theory Analysis
The social penetration theory asserts that as a relationship develops it can develop a person s
communication from superficial to deeply personal topics, and it can slowly penetrate the
communicators public persona to reach their core personality or sense of self. A person can allow
others to penetrate their public self when they disclose personal information. The decision to disclose
is based on the perceived rewards the person will gain if he or she will disclose. Altman and Dalmas
used ideas from the social exchange theory to develop the idea of regulating closeness with rewards
and cost. The rewards must out weight the cost in any relationship. Altman and Dalmas compare
people to onions due to the deception of the multilayered structure of personality. The outer layer is

However, there are major differences between their basic assumptions. Symbolic interactionism is
more of a sociological perspective on self and society; the central theme of the theory is that human

people; as the relationship develops the interpersonal communication moves from being shallow to a
more intimate level. The symbolic interactionism theory and social penetration theory have major

How Is Pearl Justified In The Scarlet Letter
Pearl: The Elf child Generally, the more characters a book has, the more challenging it is for a writer
to create a well organized interaction between book s characters. For this reason, the author thinks
twice before adding a new personality into the story. Thus, for a character to become a part of the
book, his or her existence has to be justified. In other words, a character has to earn his place in the
story. There is no doubt that Pearl earns her place in Nathaniel Hawthorne s book The Scarlet Letter .
First of all, she is the illegitimate daughter of Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale. Given that Pearl
is the only proof of Hester s sin, if the child had never been born, the scarlet letter would not had been
put on Hester s chest. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are other functions that Pearl fulfills, which can be discovered while reading Pearl makes it
obvious to Chillingworth who her father is; she boils Dimmesdale down to a confession and
presumably to the soul purification. One will reject that such a well developed and pure character as
Pearl deserves more that just a role of the connecting link (535) in the electric chain (534) between
Hester and Dimmesdale. Yes, she does; she is eventually rewarded with a wealthy husband and a
beautiful child. She receives a happy, married life overseas. However, even such a desirable destiny as
Pearl s again serves as an example and a moral lesson for a reader. Hawthorne tells that the origin does
not define a person s destiny and that children do not have to atone for their parents

Literary Techniques Used In Sinclair Ross s The Painted Door
Sinclair Ross heavily incorporates rich description into his style. His diverse vocabulary sets him apart
from other authors, and it causes his stories to come to life. In The Painted Door , Ross describes the
weather ...sun was risen above the frost mists now, so keen and hard a glitter on the snow... its rays
seemed shedding cold. These words have an impact on the situation/climate of the story; shedding
cold distinguishes clarity between something chilly in contrast to something freezing cold . The use of
the sun s rays, normally associated with warmth, shed cold inspiring an image of a bright, frosty
winter day as opposed to a sunny day on the beach. Hard a glitter gives an icy feeling and a cold
ambiance. He also uses terms such as draft was bitter , and icy floor , which ... Show more content on

The language he uses creates an eerie mood to the story, and adds a sense of personification to some
things such as, ... a wail through the eves . His fabrication of the atmosphere and explanation of the
weather are similar in style to The Painted Door , but with different descriptors depending on the
climate. The Painted Door gives off a wintery impression, whereas the setting of The Lamp at Noon is
during a heat induced drought. The vocabulary used in both stories allows a direct view at the
atmosphere Sinclair Ross wants you to see. Many things in The Lamp at Noon are described in a
rather harsh and pessimistic manor, such as, ...with wincing, frightened lips and, ...grim endurance in
his nature . Other examples portray a bolder meaning, ...deepening...huskily...immobile...feeble. Using
descriptors like these contribute robustly to the tone. The descriptors used in The Painted Door are
similar to these, ...furtive...constrained...human hardihood and endurance.. Words like these contribute

The Tax Deduction For Charitable
The federal charitable giving tax deduction was adopted in 1917 with the goal of off setting war time
tax burdens. However, now that the policy has been in effect for about one hundred years, it is
possible to look at weather these benefits and goals have been achieved. Does the tax deduction
actually stimulate charitable contribution and do the drawbacks outweigh the benefits? The purpose of
this paper is to refute the argument that tax breaks increase the incentive for donating and to argue that
eliminating the deduction would actually be more beneficial to the federal budget.
In order to understand why Americans get a tax deduction for charitable giving, it is necessary to look
to World War I. In the interest of funding the war, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more money a person has or makes, the higher tax bracket a person falls in, the smaller the
individuals tax liability. The problem with this is that the top tax bracket has gone down from 70
percent in 1980 to 35 percent in 2003, so the percentage of contributions should have also declined.
But they did not. The abuse of the federal contribution tax is at an all time high, and evidence from
taxpayer audits proves that donators over exaggerate their actual charitable donations.
Politicians and pundits in opposition to the deduction argue that cutbacks need to be made to the tax
break people get for making donations. The country is in such bad debt that the federal budget just
cannot afford to reward charitable giving particularly when it is mostly the rich who benefit from the
deduction. According to an article in the Wall Street journal, Opponents of cutting back argue that
things aren t that simple. The deduction, they say, is a critical incentive that keeps much needed cash
flowing to charities. And donations have already fallen in recent years at a time when the need for
services is soaring.
The question is of course, why is this so important? The answer is very simple, our economy is not
doing very well right now and it hasn t been doing as well as it should for the last decade. The
evidence is pretty overwhelming on this, looking at the evidence over the past one hundred years it
shows that when tax rates are lover

Rhetorical Analysis Of I Have A Dream Speech
Martin Luther King was a civil rights activist and Baptist minister. Dr. King was a leader in the
African American Civil Rights movement. His speech discusses the injustices African American
people were suffering. He says that they must be nonviolent in their fight for justice, an idea which
won him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. Dr. King also states that they must have faith and hope for the
future. (Par. 25)
I Have a Dream was delivered August 28, 1963 in Washington D.C. The African Americans had been
living with segregation laws for many decades, and they wanted to gain the rights they deserved. Dr.
King had lived with segregation and wanted all of God s children to be able to join together. (Par. 36)

The purpose behind I Have a Dream is to persuade. Dr. King has several topics in his speech. He
persuades the audience that this is an urgent matter. He argues that they cannot let their protests

Before Hitler gained control over Germany in the 1930 s, another European dictator had already come

Stalin, along with Hitler, was one of the most brutal men in recorded history. In relation to the criteria
on ethical leadership constructed by Lino and myself, we believe that Stalin was a very unethical
leader. According to his actions, it is clear, that Stalin failed in all aspects of our criteria. Born Iosef

Stalin, supreme dictator of the Soviet Union and Puppet Master of Eastern Europe, suffered a fatal
stroke, while lying alone in his room. All because his Bodyguards, family and government associate,
after 27 years of Iron Fisted rule, were to afraid to knock on the door. Josef Stalin was a vicious, cruel

his extreme fear of opposition. This lack of respect for human rights that shows his unethical

The Product Being Used For An Organic Compound
Introduction When it comes to creating or performing a reaction, the solubility of the product being
used is very important. Knowing the biological and physical processes of your product is the start of
any experiment. Obtaining this information plays a key role in choosing solvents for processes such a
recrystallization. Recrystallization is a procedure for purifying an impure compound in a solvent. It is
used only to purify solids in large or small quantities. That is the purpose of this experiment. The
product being used for this experiment is acetanilide (C6H5NH). The goal is to purify and
recrystallize the organic compound in the appropriate solvent. Acetanilide was first introduced to the
world in 1886 as a pharmaceutical fever reducing drug. When proven to be ineffective, it was chosen
as an alternative pain reliever since it is converted to acetaminophen when inside the body.
In the first part of this experiment we will learn to crystalize an organic compound then later on
recrystallize it with the use of an appropriate solvent. The molecules of this compound are able to
return to its previous solid form due to the solvents inability to hold on to its molecules and they start
to move freely out in the solution and begin to form solid crystals. The reaction of the product being
studied is shown below. The product of this reaction can be analyzed using NMR and IR spectrums.
Experimental Acetanilide was synthesized from a starting material of aniline (2mL)

Creating And Developing A Group Dance Performance With A...
Demonstrate an understanding of the processes involved in creating and developing a group dance
performance with a particular focus on choreography
Introduction
Choreography is the act of creating movement to produce dance. It is a creative process that requires
knowledge of how the process functions (Minton, 2007). Smith Autard (2010) believes there is a vast
difference between dancing and choreographing. Dancing can be enjoyed for pleasure and the
expression of feeling but to choreograph movement is to create a work of art (Smith Autard, 2010: 3).
According to Smith Autard, (2010) a work of art has to be created with the composer s intention to
communicate a theme or emotion. The movement content is an abstraction from actual feelings of the
choreographer, or the character of the dance that is being portrayed, which creates a representation of
the work that is significant to the dance idea as an entity.
Composition is the bringing together of smaller sections that can be worked on to create one overall
piece. The process of refinement and reflection to develop choreography demonstrates how
composition begins as small sections of movement. Basic compositional elements include space, time
and theme (Lambert, 2015).
Improvisation is a way of exploring new methods of movement it is a method of self expression and
discovery. Improvisational dance movements came during the 1960′s and 1970′s where an artistic
revolution, known as the post modern movement, made the dancer

The Independence Of Meta Cinema And Authorship
Chapter 2
This chapter will examine the independence of meta cinema and authorship. As Valck and Hagener
stated in An Introduction to Cinephilia, auteurisim a cinematic practice set up due to the prominence
of the film director emerges from passionate attendance and critiques on films in Cahiers du Cin?ma,
and further aims to cultivate cinematic literacy among the audience (Valck and Hagener, 1999). Thus,
auteurist concerns can be summarised as appealing to the articulation and reception of filmmakers?
self reflexivity. David Bordwell has indicated in his analysis on European art cinema that the stress of
authorship covers the distinct style of art cinema practices (Bordwell, 1979). In his essay,
representative art films are introduced as models conveying authorial marks, among which are Day for
Night (La Nuit Am?ricaine, Truffaut, 1973) and 8 ? (Fellini, 1963). In order to demonstrate this, I will
take in this chapter these two films together with Tout Va Bien (Godard and Gorin, 1972) as
illustration. Determined by Bordwell as adversary to art cinema, the third reflexive work balances the
discussion on the projection of auteurism in meta cinema as an interrogating approach. All examples
reflect the process of filmmaking and embody or question the auteurist concerns on directors?
individuality and the uniqueness of cinema as an art. These concerns have been stated in film critiques
and have embraced post war European cinema. First coined by Fran?ois Truffaut as

My Writing Of A College Level Writing Course
At the beginning of the term, I came into this class not feeling very confident about my writing. I had
taken writing classes in the past, but none to the extent of a college level writing course. One of the
skills that I found I lacked the most was my vocabulary. While my writing structure was often not a
problem my writing did not sound as sophisticated as it could be. I occasionally used a thesaurus but
this would often cause problems as sometimes the words would not quite agree with the meaning of
my sentence. Throughout the term the one thing that helped me the most with this problem were the
workshops. As my peers corrected my paper they helped me to come up with more intelligent words
to get my point across to the reader. I believe that without the inclusion of these workshops my essays
would not have been as cleanly written. For upcoming classes one aspect of writing that I would like
to focus on is my ability to stay on topic. A lot of the time I tend to become so engulfed in one
reasoning for my argument that my mind begins to wander elsewhere. Ultimately my essay structure
will suffer because of this, so in order to stay more focused I want to start making outlines before I
write out my essays. With an outline it will be easier for me to stay on topic since I will have a
structure to follow. Also by having an outline I can find my quotes and compose my topic sentences
ahead of time, making it easier for me to see if my ideas will fit well together. This will also

Problems In The Movie Zootopia
Most disney movies deal with love and the causal happy ever after motto that does not correspond to
an average person s everyday life. However, the animated film Zootopia contradicts the fantasy world
that Disney movies tend to portray a variety of times.Disney s featured film illustrates international
problems going on in today s society, and no matter what age, race, gender or religion one is, people
tend to get generalized or stereotyped at least once in their lifetime. The younger generation should
start to consider real world problems that go on throughout the world, like in the movie Zootopia for
example, the movie targets problems specifically dealing with stereotyping, racism, and diversity,in
order to show how society is changing at a fast pace, and that people should adapt to the new set of
standards that are forthcoming as the years have progressed, due to the fact that, certain actions may
affect an individual. Today the world deals with numerous amounts of problems, that get recognized
once in awhile. However, in order for history to not repeat itself, the younger generation must start
acknowledging dilemmas that occur worldwide. A perfect example that can lead children to identify
those kinds of problems in by simply watching the movie Zootopia, in which it deals with problems
that address stereotypes ,focuses on generalizations and its effects, and shows how sometimes people
are biased towards specific minorities.Observing the film one might catch coded language that is used
to describe certain minority groups, for example,African Americans.Antrum argues that, Terms such
as savage and biologically predisposed are terms used to describe black people in the real world
(Antrum.)In the movie they do not not address race in specific, but they do instead use terms such as
predator to fit the kid friendly theme. The movie intended for young kids is saying how black people
get called certain names all the time and that they are victims of racial slurs perpetually. Other people
are supposed to be scared by them since they are generalized on all the time and the movie illustrates
this throughout the film. While watching the film the city looks like a perfect place to live with no

Women s Rights During The Progressive Era
The Progressive Era was a period of time between the late 1800s and the early 1900s when the United
States sought ideas that gave people equality. Prior to the Progressive Era, women and immigrants
were not allowed to vote and not given the opportunity to be employed in many jobs. Also, children
were forced to work in factories and there was no conservation of the Earth s resources. During the
Progressive Era, rights of minorities, conservation of natural resources, cleanliness in food gained
improvements.
Rights of children, immigrants, and women were greatly improved during the Progressive Era. Before,
children had to work in factories at very young ages and risked harming themselves, but with the
Keating Owens Act, it limited the amount of labor a child could do. Also, many social groups, such as
African Americans, Asians and Catholics, were discriminated, but progressives fought to end
segregation. Women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Critical Success Factors Of A Firm s Performance
Critical success factors are measures of those aspects of a firm s performance that are essential to its
competitive advantage and, therefore, to its success (Blocher, Stout, Juras, Cokins, 2013). One of the
original uses of Critical Success Factors as a concept is by McKinsey and Company in Boston during
the 1950s to determine how a corporation should compete in each of its many business units (Isakson
Sircar, 1990). As can be seen by the above quote, for a company in the real estate business all of these
critical success factors are either dependent upon or relate to the service provided by the firm. If a
company is not providing the level or type of service which consumers are demanding, then none of
the critical success factors mentioned above will show a positive position or future for the company. A
generational change in the needs and wants of consumers in the real estate business has caused the
growth of what the traditional service providers are calling hybrids, such as Redfin, Help A Sell, and
Xome, which provide services to consumers that focus heavily on technological innovation and
cutting cost for their customers (Inman, 2015).
Sales, profitability, and liquidity are the three financial critical success factors. These three do not
require much discussion as they are factors discussed by all when evaluating the current state of any
company in any industry. Without sales and profits a company cannot succeed and with a trend

Castro delivered these strong words to his group of men:

this Movement will triumph. If you win tomorrow, the aspirations of Martí will be fulfilled sooner. If

With no one willing to hear his case, Castro then would realized that his legal arguments would not be
effective in his attempts to stop the government led by Batista. Castro needed to achieve his goal
through other means, even force if necessary as exemplified by the uprisings in the Caribbean. His
alternate approach to achieving his goal was to organize a group of underground rebels who would aid
him in his fight against the oppressive rule of Batista. Castro began to draw followers to his cause
through his personality, which compelled many people to join him in his fight against Batista. This
gathering of followers would culminate with the 26th of July Movement, which in Cuba is called
Movimiento 26 de Julio, which is used to commemorate the beginnings of the Cuban Revolution
which was led by Fidel Castro. The Cuban Revolution s conclusion would result in the overthrowing
of the dictatorship of Batista, but the movement itself began with a failure. On July 26th, 1953, Fidel
Castro led an attack against Fulgencio Batista in the Moncada Barracks. Castro, his brother Raul and a
group of 160 armed men would attack the Barracks, which was the second largest military base in
Cuba. Based on the fact that the military base was enormous and Castro s men were far outnumbered
in this attack, there was almost no chance that this attack would have succeeded. The outcome of this

  • 2. The Genetic Code Essay In the year of 1920 a theory created by two different scientists was born, Russian Scientist/Chemist A.I.Oparin and an English Geneticist J.B.S both developed this theory known as The Primordial Soup Theory . This theory basically states that all life 3.8 3.5 billon years ago came from a tiny puddle filled with amino acids and elements from Earth s atmosphere. An experiment to test this theory was called Miller Urey experiment courtesy of scientist Stanley Miller and Harold Urey. In this experiment the two used electric shocks/charges and were able to birth organic mixtures (compounds).Oparin and J.B.S both stated that a solution of methane, hydrogen, vapored water, and ammonia could be conjoined and made into amino acids. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anyways this RNA world theory claims that RNA is the origin of all living organisms on planet earth. Even though there is no experiment to back this hypothesis there is however research and claims in Carl Woese s book by the name of The Genetic Code . RNA is a protein also known as ribonucleic acid, both RNA and DNA house tons of our (human beings) genetic codes. Seeing that the theory says that it might not be the exact origin of life on earth it stilled played a part in evolution. Also recent cells and those that came before it were said to have evolved and bonded with enzyme compound to make a unit. Enzymes bonded with RNA were stated that they made a system which stored and created life and evolved. Community Clay Hypothesis states that biological (living) organisms have ties to being evolved from clay. Hyrdogel clay (water substance clay) was believed to have formed over billions of years consisting chemicals that were confined and begun to produce biological matter of dioxyribose nucleic acid (DNA) and forms of proteins. These chemicals were said to have had evolved and to have made complicated biological structures/materials. Sadly there s no evidence in the form of experiment to back this claim up but further studies are showing that this theory might have some potential in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparison Of The Progressive And Populist Movement The Progressive and Populist Movements of the Late 19th and early 20th century were both movements that sought to give specific groups in the population better representation/rights as a whole. The Populist Movement began due to major economic changes brought on by the railroad. Farmers could no longer make a living selling their crops due to overproduction leading to low prices. The Populist Party was established in order to promote the economic and political interests of farmers. One notable member of the Populist Party was William Jennings Bryan, a Presidential candidate who believed in inflating the money supply and the coinage of silver. The party would go on to create Granger Laws, laws designed to place government regulations on railroads. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Speech On White Privilege Privilege is a set of unearned benefits given to people who fit into a specific social group . Any system of privilege be it a family, a workplace, or a society is organized around three basic principles: dominance, identification, and centeredness .(1) For example, a system of white privilege, is white dominated. which means the default is for white people to occupy positions of power . White dominance does not mean that ALL white people are powerful and it also does not guarantee only success for them or only failure for everybody else. But the powerful tend to almost always be white, and when a member of a non dominant group occupies a position of power, it will be the exception to the rule, such as Barack Obama being called the black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These different overlapping structures make it impossible to draw a distinct line between black and white, oppressed and privileged. Someone is not simply oppressed or privileged: we are all simultaneously both by different aspects of our identities. I for example, am privileged as a caucasian, but oppressed as a woman. I am standing here today talking to you about this issue because I consider myself to be a very privileged person. I have received an internationally acclaimed education, am of full physical and mental health and i have never had to worry for my safety because of my skin colour or religious beliefs. I have been exposed to a multitude of cultures and ethnicities throughout my life which is why privilege is something that I have always been very conscious of. Now, unfortunately, in the current world, somehow, because somebody once said so, I have more opportunities in life than someone who is much smarter and much more talented, but was born with a physical disability? Or born with a pigment in their skin? I, for one, do not see the logic behind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kumon Bedroom Observation Report As I completed my work in Kumon,a math and reading educational center that helps children with standardized testing; all I could focus on was the prize drawers. Kumon s one large gray room with seven or eight long tables. The owners of Kumon are an Asian couple, Mr. and Mrs. Chang. When I completed my work and hastily checked it over I rushed to turn it into Mr. Chang. He quickly and happily reviewed it, I received a hundred. My best friend Muskaan stood next to one of their helpers Mr. Jordan, she managed to pull out a hundred too. Muskaan, my fifth grade friend and I (a fourth grader)carpool to Kumon after school every Monday and Wednesday. Since both of us managed to pull out hundreds so each of us were awarded five Kumon dollars. A Kumon dollars allows students to buy prizes. Kailey what are will you get from the store? • 6. Essay on The New Archaeology Movement With the evolution of available technologies and methodologies, some archaeologists became frustrated with the traditional ways of archaeology; they felt that the new technologies should be used to improve archaeology and the outcomes of professionals in the field. The New Archaeology was a movement that sought to contribute to the existing anthropological knowledge of human behavior by emerging as a science and separating itself from the historical approach. New archaeology did not merely incorporate scientific technology, but it also employed various scientific methods and approaches. Lewis Binford was the most influential figure in New Archaeology; he considered that cultures were composed of three interrelated subsystems: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Culture cannot be treated as a process because, in doing so, one would not take into account the many characteristics that distinguish cultures from each other and that would alter the outcome of each civilization. Furthermore, Binford believed that archaeology should contribute to explaining the significance of past occurrences, instead of merely reconstructing them; consequently, he promoted the use of explicit theory (Renfrew and Bahn 41). Archaeologists were to formulate a theory for an event that had occurred in the past and would need to provide proof in the form of sites and artifacts to prove that the event actually occurred. New Archaeology supported the notion of using theories to explain the past. This would force archaeologists to provide proof for their conclusions, instead of merely claiming that something is correct based on his authority in the field. Additionally, this approach would change archaeological procedure to a scientific one: the appropriate procedure was now seen as formulating hypotheses, constructing models, and deducing their consequences (Renfrew and Bahn 41). Implementing a scientific method for archaeological research would undermine some artifacts and other findings and regard them as unimportant. If archaeologists were concerned with proving a hypothesis correct, they may overlook an artifact that would not contribute to the hypothesis, but is still significant. The old tradition of justice, the private blood feud, caused an ungoverned succession of violent acts that spiralled uncontrollably. Aegisthus, Clytemnestra s lover, is introduced in Agamemnon; he desires vengeance for the plot contrived by Agamemnon s father (Ag: 1605 1611).1 Neither Agamemnon nor Aegisthus took part in this plot and yet as the chorus explains (Ag: 755 6) But ancient Violence longs to breed, new violence comes when its fatal hour comes, The justice system of this period demanded that one avenge the death of a family member, this can be seen in The Libation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the violent acts of reprisal do not end with Agamemnon. With this act comes a twist within the traditional system of justice. In The Libation Bearers, Orestes must choose to avenge his father s murder. The twist comes in that by avenging his father, Orestes will be committing matricide, a crime revolting to the gods and especially to the Furies. Orestes is placed in a no win situation; he must avenge his father or else be plagued by (Lib: 285 6) .................leprous boils that ride the flesh, their wild teeth gnawing the mother tissue, Unfortunately, the same fate awaits him if he commits matricide, thereby avenging his father. Orestes chooses the latter and is besieged by the hounds of mother s hate. (Lib: 1055 6). Through this sequence of murderous events, Aeschylus demonstrates the complexity and futility of the blood feud as a system of justice. There are no winners, and the cycle of violence does not end. Thus, this cycle of vengeance is not justice. In the Eumenides, Aeschylus manifests a new system of justice for the more civilised times. Orestes, plagued by the Furies, turns to Apollo (Eum: 88 90) Lord Apollo, you know the rules of justice know them well. Now learn

Dickinson s poems provide that secret gateway to the supernatural that Ferlazzo is referring to. In the poem I felt a Funeral, in my Brain, Emily Dickinson uses symbolism to convey some sort of mental funeral that the speaker is experiencing. The funeral image that Dickinson depicts in the first line of the poem: I felt a Funeral, in my Brain, does not literally represent a funeral, but it is used to symbolism a mental breakdown and agony that the speaker is going through. By using this symbolism, the speaker is imagining the death of old ways of thought. Dickinson writes that when the funeral service was like a Drum (Dickinson 43) and that it Kept beating beating till I thought My Mind was going numb (43), leaving readers believing that the speaker is going mad. The business is also open every day from 6am to 2am with a bus stop close to the business so it is easier to get too when not having a vehicle. Notice that the restaurant is located next to the college. With having a coffee shop next to a college this will mostly attract more college students and also with having live entertainment this should get more customers to come in. With the live entertainment I noticed that there is no time schedule to when the live entertainment is going to be at the restaurant it just states that the live ... Management Management in Tim s Coffee Shoppe are doing a good job at making sure that the restaurant is passing their inspections, but some of them have slacked on making sure that the employees fill out their time cards correctly. There has been one employee that has received four warnings throughout working at Tim s Coffee Shoppe, this employees warnings involve being rude to the customers and to the other employees that also work there. Most of the employees enjoy working there and with their managers. However there is one employee that felt like she was not going to get anywhere by working so she is going to put her two weeks in so she can go work for one of the competitors. One employee suggests that they need to have better cash registers so they do not have to go through the paper receipts to make sure everything is accounted for at the ending of a shift. With the one person that keeps getting the warnings I suggest of letting him go so there is no more problems between him and the customers or employees. When the one employee suggested that the new owner to get new cash registers I feel that it might be a good idea so it is much easier to keep track of what is being sold. Also to keep better track of the mistakes that might happen during the shifts. Also with having better cash registers the restaurant could always start accepting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Was Stalin an Ethical Leader. Before Hitler gained control over Germany in the 1930 s, another European dictator had already come to power in Russia. Commonly known as Josef Stalin, a name that translates to mean the man of steel. Stalin, along with Hitler, was one of the most brutal men in recorded history. In relation to the criteria on ethical leadership constructed by Lino and myself, we believe that Stalin was a very unethical leader. According to his actions, it is clear, that Stalin failed in all aspects of our criteria. Born Iosef Vassarionovich Dzugashvili, Stalin had no respect for human rights and made decisions that would deliberately harm others, the appalling affect these decisions had and he did not promote or even welcome a peaceful notion. Stalin also used manipulation as a way of winning over followers. Therefore it is clear through his actions that Stalin was a callous leader who did not welcome or harbour peace. Stalin, supreme dictator of the Soviet Union and Puppet Master of Eastern Europe, suffered a fatal stroke, while lying alone in his room. All because his Bodyguards, family and government associate, after 27 years of Iron Fisted rule, were to afraid to knock on the door. Josef Stalin was a vicious, cruel man and an unethical leader. This is shown through his lack of respect for human rights. A man who found pleasure in ordering the torture and execution of his most loyal followers. At least 30 million and possibly as much as 60 million were; shot, hung, starved, beaten, drugged to death as a result of his extreme fear of opposition. This lack of respect for human rights that shows his unethical behaviour resulted in millions of people living in a regime of fear. In fact, Stalin was so immoral and unethical that, when Vladimir Lenin died, he invented methods of elimination, in order to eradicate his number one rival Leon Trotsky. This technique consisted of: Imprisonment, exile and assassination. He finally succeeded, and sent Trotsky to Mexico. Stalin was a man who suffered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Product Being Used For An Organic Compound Introduction When it comes to creating or performing a reaction, the solubility of the product being used is very important. Knowing the biological and physical processes of your product is the start of any experiment. Obtaining this information plays a key role in choosing solvents for processes such a recrystallization. Recrystallization is a procedure for purifying an impure compound in a solvent. It is used only to purify solids in large or small quantities. That is the purpose of this experiment. The product being used for this experiment is acetanilide (C6H5NH). The goal is to purify and recrystallize the organic compound in the appropriate solvent. Acetanilide was first introduced to the world in 1886 as a pharmaceutical fever reducing drug. When proven to be ineffective, it was chosen as an alternative pain reliever since it is converted to acetaminophen when inside the body. In the first part of this experiment we will learn to crystalize an organic compound then later on recrystallize it with the use of an appropriate solvent. The molecules of this compound are able to return to its previous solid form due to the solvents inability to hold on to its molecules and they start to move freely out in the solution and begin to form solid crystals. The reaction of the product being studied is shown below. The product of this reaction can be analyzed using NMR and IR spectrums. Experimental Acetanilide was synthesized from a starting material of aniline (2mL) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Creating And Developing A Group Dance Performance With A... Demonstrate an understanding of the processes involved in creating and developing a group dance performance with a particular focus on choreography Introduction Choreography is the act of creating movement to produce dance. It is a creative process that requires knowledge of how the process functions (Minton, 2007). Smith Autard (2010) believes there is a vast difference between dancing and choreographing. Dancing can be enjoyed for pleasure and the expression of feeling but to choreograph movement is to create a work of art (Smith Autard, 2010: 3). According to Smith Autard, (2010) a work of art has to be created with the composer s intention to communicate a theme or emotion. The movement content is an abstraction from actual feelings of the choreographer, or the character of the dance that is being portrayed, which creates a representation of the work that is significant to the dance idea as an entity. Composition is the bringing together of smaller sections that can be worked on to create one overall piece. The process of refinement and reflection to develop choreography demonstrates how composition begins as small sections of movement. Basic compositional elements include space, time and theme (Lambert, 2015). Improvisation is a way of exploring new methods of movement it is a method of self expression and discovery. Improvisational dance movements came during the 1960′s and 1970′s where an artistic revolution, known as the post modern movement, made the dancer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Independence Of Meta Cinema And Authorship Chapter 2 This chapter will examine the independence of meta cinema and authorship. As Valck and Hagener stated in An Introduction to Cinephilia, auteurisim a cinematic practice set up due to the prominence of the film director emerges from passionate attendance and critiques on films in Cahiers du Cin?ma, and further aims to cultivate cinematic literacy among the audience (Valck and Hagener, 1999). Thus, auteurist concerns can be summarised as appealing to the articulation and reception of filmmakers? self reflexivity. David Bordwell has indicated in his analysis on European art cinema that the stress of authorship covers the distinct style of art cinema practices (Bordwell, 1979). In his essay, representative art films are introduced as models conveying authorial marks, among which are Day for Night (La Nuit Am?ricaine, Truffaut, 1973) and 8 ? (Fellini, 1963). In order to demonstrate this, I will take in this chapter these two films together with Tout Va Bien (Godard and Gorin, 1972) as illustration. Determined by Bordwell as adversary to art cinema, the third reflexive work balances the discussion on the projection of auteurism in meta cinema as an interrogating approach. All examples reflect the process of filmmaking and embody or question the auteurist concerns on directors? individuality and the uniqueness of cinema as an art. These concerns have been stated in film critiques and have embraced post war European cinema. First coined by Fran?ois Truffaut as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. My Writing Of A College Level Writing Course At the beginning of the term, I came into this class not feeling very confident about my writing. I had taken writing classes in the past, but none to the extent of a college level writing course. One of the skills that I found I lacked the most was my vocabulary. While my writing structure was often not a problem my writing did not sound as sophisticated as it could be. I occasionally used a thesaurus but this would often cause problems as sometimes the words would not quite agree with the meaning of my sentence. Throughout the term the one thing that helped me the most with this problem were the workshops. As my peers corrected my paper they helped me to come up with more intelligent words to get my point across to the reader. I believe that without the inclusion of these workshops my essays would not have been as cleanly written. For upcoming classes one aspect of writing that I would like to focus on is my ability to stay on topic. A lot of the time I tend to become so engulfed in one reasoning for my argument that my mind begins to wander elsewhere. Ultimately my essay structure will suffer because of this, so in order to stay more focused I want to start making outlines before I write out my essays. With an outline it will be easier for me to stay on topic since I will have a structure to follow. Also by having an outline I can find my quotes and compose my topic sentences ahead of time, making it easier for me to see if my ideas will fit well together. This will also ... Problems In The Movie Zootopia Most disney movies deal with love and the causal happy ever after motto that does not correspond to an average person s everyday life. However, the animated film Zootopia contradicts the fantasy world that Disney movies tend to portray a variety of times.Disney s featured film illustrates international problems going on in today s society, and no matter what age, race, gender or religion one is, people tend to get generalized or stereotyped at least once in their lifetime. The younger generation should start to consider real world problems that go on throughout the world, like in the movie Zootopia for example, the movie targets problems specifically dealing with stereotyping, racism, and diversity,in order to show how society is changing at a fast pace, and that people should adapt to the new set of standards that are forthcoming as the years have progressed, due to the fact that, certain actions may affect an individual. Today the world deals with numerous amounts of problems, that get recognized once in awhile. However, in order for history to not repeat itself, the younger generation must start acknowledging dilemmas that occur worldwide. A perfect example that can lead children to identify those kinds of problems in by simply watching the movie Zootopia, in which it deals with problems that address stereotypes ,focuses on generalizations and its effects, and shows how sometimes people are biased towards specific minorities.Observing the film one might catch coded language that is used to describe certain minority groups, for example,African Americans.Antrum argues that, Terms such as savage and biologically predisposed are terms used to describe black people in the real world (Antrum.)In the movie they do not not address race in specific, but they do instead use terms such as predator to fit the kid friendly theme. The movie intended for young kids is saying how black people get called certain names all the time and that they are victims of racial slurs perpetually. Other people are supposed to be scared by them since they are generalized on all the time and the movie illustrates this throughout the film. While watching the film the city looks like a perfect place to live with no problems arsing, nevertheless, ... Also, children were forced to work in factories and there was no conservation of the Earth s resources. During the Progressive Era, rights of minorities, conservation of natural resources, cleanliness in food gained improvements. Rights of children, immigrants, and women were greatly improved during the Progressive Era. Before, children had to work in factories at very young ages and risked harming themselves, but with the Keating Owens Act, it limited the amount of labor a child could do. • 37. Critical Success Factors Of A Firm s Performance Critical success factors are measures of those aspects of a firm s performance that are essential to its competitive advantage and, therefore, to its success (Blocher, Stout, Juras, Cokins, 2013). One of the original uses of Critical Success Factors as a concept is by McKinsey and Company in Boston during the 1950s to determine how a corporation should compete in each of its many business units (Isakson Sircar, 1990). As can be seen by the above quote, for a company in the real estate business all of these critical success factors are either dependent upon or relate to the service provided by the firm. If a company is not providing the level or type of service which consumers are demanding, then none of the critical success factors mentioned above will show a positive position or future for the company. A generational change in the needs and wants of consumers in the real estate business has caused the growth of what the traditional service providers are calling hybrids, such as Redfin, Help A Sell, and Xome, which provide services to consumers that focus heavily on technological innovation and cutting cost for their customers (Inman, 2015). Sales, profitability, and liquidity are the three financial critical success factors. These three do not require much discussion as they are factors discussed by all when evaluating the current state of any company in any industry. His alternate approach to achieving his goal was to organize a group of underground rebels who would aid him in his fight against the oppressive rule of Batista.
