Eleven states in the south came to the conclusion that secession was the best way to escape the
oppressive government. All of these southern states were justified as they felt that they were not being
properly represented in the government and were seen as a joke. They were not taken seriously and
they felt that since their votes didn t matter anyway that their place in the union also didn t matter. A
large reason for the south s secession revolves around the idea of slavery. All the south wanted was for
slavery to spread and be legal across the north and once they discovered that this opening was closing

people believe competent communication is competent communication no matter where it is practiced

The Movie Office Space features a typical cubicle style office environment. There is no culture clash,
just classic examples of bad management. Peter and Joanna are two people in different environments
who both suffer from dissatisfaction. Peter works at a company similar to Intel or IBM, Joanna at a
restaurant similar to TGI Friday s. The office environment is exactly how our book says it should not
be, which leads to many comical scenes. Communication comes from the top down only, in the form
of impersonal memos. There are 8 bosses that Peter all must answer to. This is described as a Tall
structure of business in our book, like IBM. At IBM there are many units, with many supervisors, and
fewer employees per supervisor (53). Power is very centralized at Peter s job; his main boss is named
Bill Lumbergh. Bill is a greedy, overbearing authoritarian and abuses his power in many ways he has
his own reserved parking spot right in front of the building, he forces Peter to come in to work on the
weekends, and he is very condescending to his employees. The multiple bosses just create a more
negative work environment. For example, when Peter forgets to put coversheets on his TBS reports,
Lumbergh and a couple of his other bosses talk to him like he is stupid, asking if he got the memo.

Hazaribagh is a densely populated unplanned area of Dhaka city where about 185 leather processing
industries have been operating and discharging solid and liquid wastes directly to the low lying areas,
river and natural canals without proper treatment. For this unsympathetic development of the city
urban living environment is deteriorating and becoming unlivable.

A statistics available from the Department of Environment reveal that 95 per cent of the tannery
industries have been built in unplanned way at the congested places of Hazaribag during the last fifty
years. At present during the peak monsoon about 21 thousand and 600 cubic meters of liquid toxic
wastes are dumped daily into the river Buriganga from the 185 tannery industries of Hazaribag. There
is no alternative way to dump this liquid toxic waste at the time of continuous production of tannery
industries.
Unfortunately a recent observation of Hazaribagh clearly shows an active decay and destruction
primarily attributed to unplanned growth and poor maintenance. This area now appears no more than
an inner city unhygienic environment. Technical compatibility is necessary to improve the houses and

Self control plays a role in what you believe every bit as much as it does in what you decide to do.
(Churchland, 194) In this sense self control could be described as what people confuse as free will. An
