Alice In Wonderland Power
This essay will consider Lewis Carroll s presentation of Alice in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland,
specifically within the Pig and Pepper chapter. Alice wishes to master the unfamiliar world of
Wonderland, in much the same way as Victorian Britain gained global power through colonization. In
this essay, I will argue that Carroll uses Alice s role as Victorian representative to criticise this
dominant global position Britain held during its imperial century . Alice initially perceives
Wonderland as a world that she can overpower and benefit from, much as imperialist Britain benefited
from its territories resources. She does not succeed, however, and by the end of both the chapter and
overall narrative, finds that compliant interactions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance of learning from other cultures, rather than maintaining imperialistic superiority by
holding Victorian England above the rest, is communicated. This is indicated through Alice s
transition to a more adaptable state, which is again represented through her interactions with the
infant. When caring for the baby, Alice tells it not to grunt, as that s not at all a proper way of
expressing yourself. In dictating to the baby the proper etiquette regarding expression, Alice is initially
projecting her own Victorian society onto it. She views her society as superior, and so requires that the
infant act in the same way as one from her own world. However, the description of Alice holding the
baby makes it clear that she is beginning to understand that there is no fixed, constantly correct way of
doing things. Carroll states that she made out the proper way of nursing it (which was to twist it up
into a sort of knot, and then keep tight hold of its right ear and left foot, so as to prevent its undoing
itself) The repetition of the word proper is telling here: the proper way of treating this Wonderland
child is in fact very different from what the proper way would be in Alice s world. Consequently, Alice
learns she cannot simply project her own culture onto Wonderland, and must instead operate with
more open mindedness regarding differing

Population Change In Australia Essay
Changing Nations This report will address migration patterns to and from Australia and the impacts of
population change in urban areas. Urbanisation is the growth in population living in urban areas
(cities). Two factors that will be investigated in this report are rural poverty: unemployment (push
factor) and Economic opportunities: jobs (pull factor). Source 1 mixed race in a Australian classroom.
Push Factor to Australia A push factor suggests and gives reasons why people are moving from their
country to Australia to live, it can be caused by disadvantages in their country. Rural Poverty:
Unemployment Unemployment effects lots of people in other countries due to not much jobs available

changed since the mining boom. A lot people have migrated from their countries to here to get a job in

Taking a Look at Customs Valuation
Customs Valuation
What is Customs Valuation? Customs valuation can be defined as process to value to a good or service
for the purposes of import or export. Basically, it will involve tariff concessions, implementing trade
policy and others. For our information, this systems has been used a thousand of years ago among
different cultures, and was been proven by evidence in the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty.
Further, the first recorded custom tariff was from 336 in Palmyra, an oasis city in the Syrian Desert.
But, since 20th century, this system has been strength by existence of Agreement on Implementation
of Article VII of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1994.
In India, customs valuation is a compulsory process that needs to handle. As stated, when an import
consignment arrive in India they need to clear the customs barrier which is their goods will be analyze
in terms of value and a suitable import tariff imposed. The parties that responsible to this process are
the importer or agent which is they need to pay the duty before the goods are cleared by the customs.
Further, tariff is a schedule of duties and it also known as the duty or tax imposed by a country and the
duty or tax within the tariff schedule. Basically, a tax will imposed when the goods cross the border
between two countries.
Besides, export and import are levied either at specific rates or on ad valorem basis. For case of ad
valorem duties, the value of the goods becomes the basis for

Social, Biological And Psychological Theories
In society today, many individuals are negatively influenced by the media and the way crime is
portrayed. The cause of crime has been studied over decades ago and is continuing to be studied.
Many researchers have had their theories and reasons as to why crime happens and what drives one to
commit crime. Environmental, social, biological and psychological theories are all potential variables
of why crime happens. Critics may argue that crime is caused by the way someone is raised and one
becomes a product of their environment. Others may argue that there is something called the crime
gene. A professor named Dr. Mairi Levitt at the University of Lancaster is a researcher in the field of
bioethics, focusing primarily on how science and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychological theories attempt to look deep into the mind of the individual Akers et al., (2013).
Psychological theories cover a broad range of approaches as to why crime is committed and what the
causal factors are. Lam, Salkovskis and Warwick (2005) support this and found psychological theories
refers to psychological reactions to stressors, negative beliefs and meanings and feedback loops,
focused on information processing and the mind.
Psychological theories recognize the effect of an individual s experience, especially in early
childhood, and environmental factors that may trigger criminal behavior, but they propose abnormal
personality type/traits or emotional maladjustments as the primary causes of crime Akers et al.,
(2013). Psychological theorists believed that behavior, criminal or non criminal is not related to one s
biological make up. According to Kate Friedlander (1947), classical Freudian psychoanalytic
explanations of delinquency focus on abnormalities or disturbances in the individual s emotion
development from early childhood Akers et al., (2013). In terms of mental health, to better understand
this theory, psychological theories are perceived could influence beliefs of patients and non patients
alike in terms of factors such as stigmatization, beliefs about the outcome of treatment, motivation,
pessimism and so on.

Forsyth County s Eugenics Case Study
A bill introduced in the North Carolina legislature on Thursday June 9, 2016 was initiated to make
sure the state s four largest counties (Wake, Mecklenburg, Forsyth and Guilford) pay sterilization
victims from North Carolina s Eugenics program. Representative Paul Skip: Stam of Apex said they
did not realize that some cases were initiated by the county and not the state. The $10 million in 2013
that was set aside to compensate victims did not go to people who were forcibly sterilized by county
governments. From 1929 to 1974, nearly 7,600 people were sterilized under orders from North
Carolina s Eugenics Board. The board prevented people who were mentally ill, diseased, feeble
minded or too poor to have children. Surviving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The doctor labeled the records as a eugenics sterilization. And while it was it relief to have the

With all this evidence, Adams and her family thought they had a case. They filed the paperwork, and

there were no records found and that her case was not approved by the North Carolina Eugenics

My Dear Fellow Men And Fellow Women
The splashing of water, the trickling of drops, the bubbles galore and the great Indian fall... well this is
not an exhibition of my poetry traits or some faintly somber attempt of awry rhyming at one stretch...
it is also not the weird explanation of some all the more weird advertisements that are doing its regular
rounds in the idiot box nowadays or the radio stations. Neither is it the urge of a lesser known mortal
to gain attention of some well known folks nor is it written just for the sake of putting up some damn
written stuff on my blog in a harried manner. My dear fellow men and fellow women, (empowerment
of women is a deadly thing...can drag you in to a whole lot of unnecessary controversies...better to be
on a safe side and mention the women community wherever possible...all you feminists out there,
hope you are feeling satisfied to your heart s content now!!!) I am merely struggling hard to put my
painful and slippery outburst in black and white to provide some sort of relief to my freakish limb.
The incident took place exactly an year ago... and my infatuation with water or rains reached to its
extreme height and in fact did prove fatal to my survival in this big bad world. At the same time let me
warn you guys, I am not an individual who has lost her sanity levels... I am perfectly in control of my
life and my emotions but the incident that I am going to narrate in a few lines from here on is an
incident that would drive any normal human being crazy. Please

Ancient Mayan Society
How could societies from hundreds of years ago influence both the past and the present? When
historians and archaeologists look back on the thriving communities of the Maya, Aztecs, and Inca
their question is answered. These societies were introduced many products and ideas. The Mayan,
Aztecan, and Incan societies heavily influenced the past as well as the present. The Maya, Aztecs, and
Inca were tremendously influential in their prime and their legacy . Looking at the Maya, the first
accomplishment that they achieved was creating accurate calendars by studying stars and astrology.
This helped the society know the dates of important events like deaths or annual festivals. One of the

The Difference Between Online Learning And Traditional...
The differences seem to be profound and similar at the same time with online learning and traditional
classroom education . The online tool of technology has the relationship of human and machine
conversing , working as a unit , impersonal , with a no interaction as with a human being as teacher .
In that reality the teaching basically is deleted where the student is teaching their selves to a certain
extent with learning also. With this you only find information that is updated for the learning
experience of the student , this is the similarity with classroom learning .For the teacher also gives
information also derived from updated curriculum works . The traditional classroom has advantages .
They have a personality each to its own that can be expressed from faculty and student alike . That
shows the personal side to education . Their is someone to set the rules and guidelines to follow ,there
is someone to look up to ,there are others to interact with face to face with for seeing the reaction to
that interaction. With online learning there is the advantage of scheduling with the student being able
to learn at the pace they can more proficient with . The classroom student has to adhere to the rules set
by the instructor no matter the students priorities . The overall learning ability of the student is the best
determining factor with the opportunities afforded to students today . The choices that can determined
by prospective students today is outstanding .

Sqfe method Under Uncertain Conditions by Generating Fuzzy Membership Function
Abstract: The quality based approach SQFE (Suivi Qualite Par le Fournisseur Exterieur) has been
introduced by three automotive corporations to measure the quality of supplier products. This
approach proposes a general criterion by which inspection samples are classified to different demerit
categories with different weights, to compute mean unit demerit for each measurable quality
characteristic. However, the assignment of an actual and crisp demerit weight to each sample is
unrealistic, in the face of the unavoidable measurement errors as well as the inevitable uncertainty
involved in human judgment. In this paper an improved estimation procedure which is based on fuzzy
logic instead of bivalent logic, is presented to calculate s. The fuzzy set theory is used to add more
accuracy and flexibility to the analysis. For this aim, likelihood view has been adapted to generate
fuzzy membership function, in order to assign the appropriate demerit weight to each sample. In
addition, a numerical example that evaluates products based on the proposed method and compares it
with the current standard procedure is presented.

Many kinds of classification systems have been provided in various military and International
organizations for Standardization (ISO)such as, quality rating systems which have been applied and

The Breakdown of Family Life
There is an increasing concern about what some politicians have described as the breakdown of family
life and they have suggested that the only way to fix a broken society is to place more emphasis on
marriage and a return to traditional values.
Examine what are commonly believed to be traditional values .
How far, and for what reasons, do you agree that we are currently witnessing the breakdown of
traditional family life in Britain?
Traditional values simply means coming from tradition rather than any specific philosopher, moralist
or writer. Since the 1970 s, traditional values have become synonymous with family values and imply
a congruence with mainstream Christianity, and have been in ... Show more content on

The Archbishop of York used this argument in a piece in the Guardian when referring to the
complementary nature of men and women . However, if this is the case, it is therefore unfair for
heterosexual couples to marry if either is infertile as they cannot pro create either. Arguments based on
the traditional family life will always be insulting to homosexuals as there is no proof they are not
capable of being able to raise children and be good parents regardless of their gender.
According to the Office of National Statistics, more people are living alone, are being raised by single
parents, and an increasing amount of grown up children are still living with their parents than in
previous years. The nuclear family has been described by one expert as a museum piece , emphasising
the fact that it is a part of history now. Figures showed that 30 percent of women under 30 had given
birth by the age of 25, while 24 percent had married, showing having children is more of a first major
milestone to adult life than getting married. These statistics in comparison to 1971 show an extreme
difference: three quarters of women were married by 25, and half had given birth. The statistics also
showed that the number of adults living alone doubled in generation, from 6 percent to 12 percent due
to divorce, death or marrying at a later age. In reference to the above statement, the nature of family
has changed significantly in the past 30 years so the government are correct

Holmes And Deduction Essay
DEDUCTION:
It is a type of argument that states that if the premises of an argument are true than the conclusion
must be true. It is a type of argument where premises provide irrefutable grounds to support the truth
of their conclusion. Deduction begins with the general facts or obvious facts and reasons down to the
specific. In deductive reasoning we make explicit what has been already implicit in the premises. A
Deductive argument is said to be valid when the truth of its premises guarantees the truth of its
conclusion. The premises are true; the conclusion must be true.

Watson started to judge Holmes repertory of intelligence. He said; Holmes had no knowledge of
philosophy. He still didn t know what kind of work Holmes was doing.
Mr.Uchii gathered enough data which show that Holmes understand logic well and also know well
how to apply those logics in his investigations. Holmes recommended that logic is the science of
deduction and examination. Deduction, in the severe sense, is an implication from premises to a
conclusion, and furthermore, each step of this implication has belief. Nevertheless, many logicians in
past 19th century studied both deduction and such probable interpretations. So, it may well be sensible
to portray Holmes as a logician, under of this situation in 19th century. Anyhow, the behavior of such

What are the duties of a prosecutor? The prosecutor has broad discretion in determining whether or
not to charge the accused of a particular crime. Depending on the size of the municipality a prosecutor

The most common types are the beam bridges, arch bridges, suspension bridges, cantilever bridges,
cable style, and the kind I am going to research is truss bridge.
Zhaozhou Bridge is the oldest bridge; it is in china.
The first welded bridge was designed by polish engineer Stefan Bryla.
The longest suspension bridge in the world (from 2010) is the Akashi Kaikyo bridge in Kobe Japan.
Allan truss is based on the Howe truss. The first one was finished on 13 August 1894.
Bailey truss was made for the military, with many different styles. Baltimore truss was like the Pratt

Bollman truss had many independent tension elements that makes a strong bridge which is easy to

Refugees In Ann Coulter s Essay
Dread, terror, and fear, creeping through the walls, continues to corrupt American morals, minute by
minute. With the onslaught of the Paris attacks, the question of whether or not America should accept
more refugees now governs over American politics, originally a question that does not need
questioning. Recently, Ann Coulter, an extreme conservative, posted an article named Importing
Terrorism and Other American Values regarding America s vetting process and America s obligation
towards refugees. Within her article, she ventures to devalue the vetting process and denounce
refugees and immigrants alike as crime carriers. Although her argument appears both logical and
reasonable superficially, Coulter not only fails to cite her sources, but also demonstrates consistent
mastery of logical fallacies, misuse of evidence, and shallow knowledge regarding immigrant and
crime statistics. Coulter begins her article quoting President Obama, who referred to the rejection of
refugees as, a betrayal of our [American] values (cite1). She raises concerns over the lack of
protection for American citizens stating, Contrary to Obama s laughable reference to the universal

which may work for the general reader who may not have time to research. This cheap shot by Coulter

Achieving Goals Essay
When I was 17 years old, my father was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Without a doubt it was an
event which marked my life and helped me mature in many aspects. I witnessed how my father began
to lose his cognitive functions like his ability to focus, changes in his personality, behavior and
emotions. This was the first time that I felt interested in learning how the brain process the
information and motivated to learn more regarding this disease in order to help him. After my father
passed away, my mother fell into a depression so I began to search for ways to improve her emotional
state by reading books and magazines on the subject. Without the support of my father and the drastic
change in my life, I understood that the only way to improve my quality of life was to study and find
the passion to which I was going to dedicate the rest of my life. After careful thought, I decided to
move to the United States. Leaving my family, I came to this country in search of knowledge, contacts
and greater opportunities . During these years, I have been confronted with many obstacles, but I have
been able to resolve them thanks in part to my dedication. When it comes to achieving my goals, I find
it in myself to push myself until that goal it met. I consider that there is no lack of opportunities for
someone that believes in their capabilities and is aware that nothing comes without sacrifice, meaning
that hard work and dedication are required in order to achieve goals. When I

Society has strayed so far away from God that we cannot be guided back home.
Yeats begins the poem with the first two lines painting an image of society falling apart and breaking
down, one that O Brien refers to as a cultural breakdown. He says, The falcon represents those forces
that function productively only when disciplined. In order to maintain structure and to prevent the
gyre from widening further, our society needs discipline, otherwise our structure, our faith, or very
nature as human beings deteriorates. At this time in our society, our discipline in our faith is gone. Our
discipline in our morals and ethics is gone.
Lines 3 6 illustrate society s inability to hold together without discipline. Because the falcon can no
longer hear the falconer to find its way back home, things fall apart the result of society straying from
God. With everything falling apart, the need for someone or something to save society becomes
prominent. Since society has strayed away from God, the next solution is man as a savior, but with the
new age of war and machinery, mankind has lost their ability to save the world. O Brien says,
Everything that makes life valuable is being drenched in blood. The ceremony of innocence refers no
to one particular ceremony but is intended to suggest the grace and order of civilized society.
Moreover, there is nobody to fight the blood dimmed tide. Soldiers are

Ernest Hemingway s tough, terse prose and short, declarative sentences did more to change the style
of written English that any other writing in the twentieth century. Ernest Hemingway had many great
accomplishments in his historical life but one event sticks out from the rest. The Old Man and the Sea
is one of Hemingway s most enduring works. Told in Language of great simplicity and power, it is the
story of an old Cuban fisherman, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here
Hemingway recasts, in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of

were assigned the horrific duty of picking up body parts from an exploded munitions factory. Death,
mostly of women, on such a scale was most definitely another very shocking moment in Hemingway s
young life. But he soon recovered from this experience and became known as the man who was
always where the action is. He would often sneak cigarettes and chocolate to soldiers on the Italian
front. It was on one of these occasions that he was severely wounded by an Austrian trench mortar.
Even with over a hundred pieces of shrapnel and an Austrian machine gun bullet logged in his leg he
managed to carry a wounded soldier a hundred yards to safety. He got the Italian Medal of Valor for
his courageous action. He spent his recovery time at the Ospedale Croce Rossa Americana, in Milan.

production of food protein/fiber based nutraceuticals such as microwave treatments as a processing or
pre processing technique to alter the molecular structure of proteins and fibers thereby enhancing their
digestibility and yielding proteins, fibers or hydrolysates, with novel functionality, nutraceutical
benefits and reduced allergenicity. This objective is aiming to determine the range of conditions under
which to obtain the optimum product properties with improved activities as functional ingredients in
food industry inheriting nurtaceutical properties. In this regard, my previous investigations revealed
that microwave is a promising technique that could lead to novel functional ingredients[4, 5].

Why Vocational School
Why Vocational School May Be A Good Option If You Need A New Career
If you re working in a job with low pay and little chance for advancement, then you should consider
going back to school so you can broaden your options. It may be scary to think about devoting four
years to college considering the time and money you have to invest, but there may be a better option.
You could go to a vocational school and learn a new trade in two years or less. Here s why vocational
school is such a good idea.
Trade Specific Studies
Vocational school is ideal when you know exactly what type of occupation you want to pursue. All the
classes prepare you for the job you want to seek. You don t have to waste time taking liberal arts
classes that have nothing to do with your job. You ll get plenty of hands on training too. Internships
are often part of your schooling, so you graduate with an education and experience that prepares you
for the workplace.
Wide Choice Of Courses
When you think of vocational school, you may think of automotive training or plumbing school.
However, there is a wide choice in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you go to vocational school, you can train for a new career in a few months. This gets you into
the workforce much quicker. With your education and training, you ll be eligible for jobs that pay a
decent wage. You can even use your new career as a stepping stone to an even better job. Once you re
making a good wage, you may be able to fund a college education and further your career. For
instance, you may start as a CNA and then work your way through nursing school.
One of the best things of all about a vocational school is that it costs less than four year college tuition.
Plus, you may be able to get financial aid in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships to help cover

Rubber Ducky Research Paper
Rubber Duckies Lost at Sea
The famous Rubber Ducky has been a favorite bath toy for many babies. You may be surprised to
learn that some scientists are also interested in rubber ducks!
Each year many goods fall off of ships into the ocean. In 1992 there was a storm at sea with high
winds. As a result, a container of 29,000 rubber ducks fell into the ocean. The ducks were on their way
from Hong Kong to the United States. Since then, they have floated throughout the world. People have
reported finding them in Hawaii, Alaska, South America, Australia, and as far as Scotland and
Newfoundland. They even survived the freezing ice of the Arctic. These amazing ducks have been
named the Friendly Floaters.
Twelve years after the spill, ducks were still bobbing up on many beaches. There are still 2,000

Curtis Ebbesmeyer, an oceanographer, and other scientists have followed the journey of the ducks.
Their studies have helped them understand more about ocean currents. They also learned about wave
and wind patterns. Perhaps, more importantly, they now have more information regarding plastic
pollution in oceans.
The author Donovan Hohn said, Plastic Pollution is a real problem. He mentions in his book, Moby
Duck, finding a dead whale that had a stomach full of trash.
Finally, the rubber duck is not just a bath toy. Tracking the journeys of the rubber ducks has proved
valuable. It has provided useful information to scientist and oceanographers

The Effect Of Concentration On Rate Of Reaction With...
How does changing the concentration of Hydrochloric acid affect its rate of reaction with Sodium
Thiosulphate?
Introduction/aim the aim of this experiment is to see how changing the concentration of hydrochloric
acid would change its rate of reaction with Sodium Thiosulphate. This was done by changing the
concentration of Hydrochloric acid to 4 different concentrations and adding them to the same amount
of sodium thiosulphate. This is done in different beakers that will previously be placed over a piece of
paper marked with an x. Once the reaction fully takes place, the x would no longer be visible therefore
the time it takes for the x to no longer be visible is our dependent variable.
Hypothesis the hypothesis is that as the concentration is increased, the rate of reaction will increase,
but the time will decrease. This is because if the concentration is higher, there will be more of the
sodium thiosulphate, therefore the reaction will take less time as the two mixtures will collide at a
higher frequency. The trend in the graphs that will be later plotted will not be directly proportional.
Graph 1 ( concentration vs time ) has a negative correlation and graph 2 ( concentration vs rate ) has a
positive correlation. This is because as the concentration is increased the time will decrease, that s why
graph 1 will have a negative correlation. Graph 2 will have a positive correlation as rate will be
1/time, therefore the graph flips. Neither of the graphs will be directly

The Genius by Frank O’Connor Essay
The Genius by Frank O Connor
The boy s personality and his intelligence are swiftly established in the opening paragraph. His mother
is presented as being a strong influence on him and appears as a kind of ally against the rough children
savages as she describes them that live and play in the area. It is clear that she encourages him to
regard himself as
different and separate from them, but it is equally obvious that he is not anxious to associate with them
anyway. He describes himself as
a cissy by conviction and says that he regarded the idea of fighting as both unattractive and dangerous
. He avoids rough games and prefers the company of girls to boys only because they don t fight so
much . Religion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the story is supposedly written from the point of view of the boy himself, the tongue in
cheek humour is extremely adult. The adult writer describes how the boy s desire to become an
explorer is expressed through his journeys that take him a whole mile from his home, the findings of
which are recorded in a book called by the very grand title of The Voyages of Johnson Martin !
Similarly, the adult writer communicates much more sympathy with the long suffering father who
stares moodily at the son whose behaviour and whose interests he does not understand than he does
with the little boy who takes himself so very seriously and is determined to be a proper genius . In
fact, the writer gently mocks the boy s very elevated opinion of himself by repeatedly referring to him
as a genius . Thus, if the story is autobiographical, he is laughing at the serious and pretentious child
he used to be.
The incident of the lame leg is a particularly interesting one because the writer uses it as a means of
presenting the relationships that exist between the boy and both his mother and his father. The
Greek word Oedipus means swollen foot and, in Greek mythology,
Oedipus was a Greek prince who married his mother and murdered his father. The strong attachment
of a son to his mother combined with unconscious feelings of

Abstract
A new methodology for customer knowledge management in the female central library in the
University of Dammam is needed because of the big amount of customers information that exist there.
Customers include employees, students, faculty members and researchers in the university. so, the
purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for organizing customer knowledge in this library.
In general, the proposed methodology is for developing a customer knowledge taxonomy model
(CKT). By using and applying this model the customer knowledge can be classified into three
categories: knowledge about customers, knowledge from customers and knowledge for customers. in
addition, this paper proposes a strategy of merging the first and second categories of customer
knowledge to form the third category. As a result of this case study, the librarians are expected to use
the CKT model to organize customer knowledge which will help in facilitating the knowledge
management activities including storing and sharing the knowledge. That will help them also to
understand the preferences and the requirements of their customers so they can provide better services
for them. Finally, it s expected that the proposed methodology can be used by

Symbolism And Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The Awakening
A key aspect in writing an interesting story is having symbolism. It allows the reader to dive just a
little bit deeper into the meaning and core of the work. Birds are a fairly common symbol, serving as
representations of freedom, breaking free, and not afraid to be loud or to speak their minds. In Kate
Chopin s novella, The Awakening, birds are used to show Edna s true feelings and desires, to explain
the courage required to defy the standards, and to show Edna s final defeat. Many animals, especially
birds, seem to communicate in a language that only they can really understand. The novella starts by
setting a scene with the description of two birds who do exactly that. Chopin begins by stating, A
green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door, kept repeating over and over: Allez
vous en! Allez vous en! Sapristi! That s all right! He could speak a little Spanish, and also a language
which nobody understood, unless it was the mocking bird that hung on the other side of the door,
whistling his fluty notes out upon the breeze with maddening persistence (Chopin 1). The green and
yellow parrot represents Edna Pontellier. She feels as if she is stuck in a golden cage with only one
other being who understands her. She has always had food on her plate and her husband provides a
stable income and life for her. The mocking bird represents Mademoiselle Reisz, because she is the
only other being who understands what Edna, or the parrot, is feeling and wanting to

Hobsbawm s The Golden Age Of Capitalism
The Golden Years were perhaps best characterized by the overwhelming economic dominance of the
USA and of the dollar, which had become dominant when the value of the British pound sterling
deteriorated as a result of the second World War. The US dollar was still linked to a specific quantity
of gold at the time. A return to laissez faire policies and the unconstructed free market was simply out
of the question. Specific political objectives had attained absolute priority, including full employment,
absolute containment of communism and modernization or revitalization of any and all economies that
were lagging behind. In practice, the Golden Age was an era of free trade, free capitalist movements
and stable currencies that had been orchestrated by astute wartime planners. The global economy was
becoming increasingly international, but it would not become transnational until later in the 1990s,
although new terms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like Hobsbawm, its authors provide an intelligent analysis of this critical period in the American
experience. The work details the historical context of the era, including evolution of macroeconomic
structure, the international order, systems of production, and the rules of coordination. A critical
element of the postwar macroeconomic structure (the set of mechanisms for managing the overall
level of economic performance, including output, performance and growth) was investment demand.
The new role of trade unions and the commitment to government intervention to maintain aggregate
demand proved essential to fostering a successful macroeconomic structure (Marglin,

Symbolism In The Pale Man
Visually, the Pale Man is horrendous and intimidating, similar to the frog. The setting the pale man
lives in also adds the monstrous characteristics he possesses. The room s ceiling is painted of the
portraits of children that have been slaughtered by this monster. The scene shows a pile of shoes in
one corner. On the other corner, the skeletons of the bodies of the children rest.
The Pale Man sits at the end of a long table that is covered with food such as red grape, red fruit tarts,
and red wine. The Pale Man has very long, dark, and grotesque finger nails. His eyeballs are placed on
a tray in front of him, not on his face. His body is bare and has rigid skin. His only facial features are
his lips and the sockets where his eyes belong. Jones describes, His face is molten skin. His skin hangs
from him and his legs are emaciated, indicating his inherent lifelessness (44).
Moreover, The Pale Man s monstrous characters mirror the monstrous people and events in the film.
The visual aspects describe the bigger picture of society. The Pale Man takes away the childhood and
innocence of children. In a similar sense, the Pale Man depicts the rob on individuality in an entire
nation (Jones 44). He has deprived others of living an individual life. The portraits of children and pile
of shoes also give insight on the state of Spain. These images, recall the historical reality of the
holocaust... where piles of belongings, including the shoes, of its victims are displayed as a

Chapter 1 Introduction and overview of auditing
1. What does assurance mean in the financial reporting context? Who are the three parties relevant to
an assurance engagement?
An assurance engagement (or service) is defined as an engagement in which an assurance practitioner
expresses a conclusion designed to enhance the degree of confidence of the intended users other than
the responsible party about the outcome of the evaluation or measurement of a subject matter against
criteria (Framework for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, the auditors will benefit from additional revenue which can be used to subsidise the audit firm
s investments in knowledge and systems, and streamline the audit.
The main disadvantages of audit firms providing services to their audit clients relate to potential
adverse effects on the auditor s independence. The auditor could be unwilling to provide services
which would reduce their audit fees or cause the client to seek another auditor. The auditor could be
unwilling to criticise something to the client which was provided by their consulting division. The
auditor could be blind to potential adverse impacts on the client s accounting systems from products
and services provided by their consulting division. Even if the consulting provided unquestionable
benefits to the client, the relationship between the audit firm and the client could become too cosy ,
and discourage the client from considering other auditors. Finally, the auditor could be reluctant to
qualify the audit report for fear of losing lucrative fees from consulting services. If this occurs, the
audit is less valuable because the auditor is less independent.
4. An assurance engagement involves evaluation or measurement of subject matter against criteria.
What criteria are used in a financial report audit?
An auditor evaluates the contents of a financial report against the standards and laws that apply to

Using a beral type pipet, one milliliter of the hydrochloric acid solution was added to the test tube and
when the substance reacted, observations were made. Later, in a 13 x 100 mm test tube, one milliliter
of sodium bicarbonate solution was mixed with one milliliter of the hydrochloric acid solution and the
reaction between the two substances was studied and observed. Again, a 13 x 100 test tube was used
and about one milliliter of the silver nitrate solution and one milliliter of the hydrochloric acid were
mixed together to create a reaction. Observations were then made and written down. Finally, a 13 x
100 mm test tube was utilized to mix about one milliliter of the sodium hydroxide solution and one
milliliter of the hydrochloric acid solution. Conclusively, observations were made and part III of the

  • 2. Alice In Wonderland Power This essay will consider Lewis Carroll s presentation of Alice in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, specifically within the Pig and Pepper chapter. Alice wishes to master the unfamiliar world of Wonderland, in much the same way as Victorian Britain gained global power through colonization. In this essay, I will argue that Carroll uses Alice s role as Victorian representative to criticise this dominant global position Britain held during its imperial century . Alice initially perceives Wonderland as a world that she can overpower and benefit from, much as imperialist Britain benefited from its territories resources. She does not succeed, however, and by the end of both the chapter and overall narrative, finds that compliant interactions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of learning from other cultures, rather than maintaining imperialistic superiority by holding Victorian England above the rest, is communicated. This is indicated through Alice s transition to a more adaptable state, which is again represented through her interactions with the infant. When caring for the baby, Alice tells it not to grunt, as that s not at all a proper way of expressing yourself. In dictating to the baby the proper etiquette regarding expression, Alice is initially projecting her own Victorian society onto it. She views her society as superior, and so requires that the infant act in the same way as one from her own world. However, the description of Alice holding the baby makes it clear that she is beginning to understand that there is no fixed, constantly correct way of doing things. Sqfe method Under Uncertain Conditions by Generating Fuzzy Membership Function Abstract: The quality based approach SQFE (Suivi Qualite Par le Fournisseur Exterieur) has been introduced by three automotive corporations to measure the quality of supplier products. This approach proposes a general criterion by which inspection samples are classified to different demerit categories with different weights, to compute mean unit demerit for each measurable quality characteristic. However, the assignment of an actual and crisp demerit weight to each sample is unrealistic, in the face of the unavoidable measurement errors as well as the inevitable uncertainty involved in human judgment. In this paper an improved estimation procedure which is based on fuzzy logic instead of bivalent logic, is presented to calculate s. The fuzzy set theory is used to add more accuracy and flexibility to the analysis. For this aim, likelihood view has been adapted to generate fuzzy membership function, in order to assign the appropriate demerit weight to each sample. In addition, a numerical example that evaluates products based on the proposed method and compares it with the current standard procedure is presented. Finally, the rubber duck is not just a bath toy. Tracking the journeys of the rubber ducks has proved valuable. It has provided useful information to scientist and oceanographers ... • 25. The Effect Of Concentration On Rate Of Reaction With... How does changing the concentration of Hydrochloric acid affect its rate of reaction with Sodium Thiosulphate? Introduction/aim the aim of this experiment is to see how changing the concentration of hydrochloric acid would change its rate of reaction with Sodium Thiosulphate. This was done by changing the concentration of Hydrochloric acid to 4 different concentrations and adding them to the same amount of sodium thiosulphate. This is done in different beakers that will previously be placed over a piece of paper marked with an x. Once the reaction fully takes place, the x would no longer be visible therefore the time it takes for the x to no longer be visible is our dependent variable. Hypothesis the hypothesis is that as the concentration is increased, the rate of reaction will increase, but the time will decrease. This is because if the concentration is higher, there will be more of the sodium thiosulphate, therefore the reaction will take less time as the two mixtures will collide at a higher frequency. The trend in the graphs that will be later plotted will not be directly proportional. Graph 1 ( concentration vs time ) has a negative correlation and graph 2 ( concentration vs rate ) has a positive correlation. This is because as the concentration is increased the time will decrease, that s why graph 1 will have a negative correlation. Graph 2 will have a positive correlation as rate will be 1/time, therefore the graph flips. Neither of the graphs will be directly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The Genius by Frank O’Connor Essay The Genius by Frank O Connor The boy s personality and his intelligence are swiftly established in the opening paragraph. His mother is presented as being a strong influence on him and appears as a kind of ally against the rough children savages as she describes them that live and play in the area. It is clear that she encourages him to regard himself as different and separate from them, but it is equally obvious that he is not anxious to associate with them anyway. He describes himself as a cissy by conviction and says that he regarded the idea of fighting as both unattractive and dangerous . He avoids rough games and prefers the company of girls to boys only because they don t fight so much . Religion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the story is supposedly written from the point of view of the boy himself, the tongue in cheek humour is extremely adult. The adult writer describes how the boy s desire to become an explorer is expressed through his journeys that take him a whole mile from his home, the findings of which are recorded in a book called by the very grand title of The Voyages of Johnson Martin ! Similarly, the adult writer communicates much more sympathy with the long suffering father who stares moodily at the son whose behaviour and whose interests he does not understand than he does with the little boy who takes himself so very seriously and is determined to be a proper genius . In fact, the writer gently mocks the boy s very elevated opinion of himself by repeatedly referring to him as a genius . Thus, if the story is autobiographical, he is laughing at the serious and pretentious child he used to be. The incident of the lame leg is a particularly interesting one because the writer uses it as a means of presenting the relationships that exist between the boy and both his mother and his father. The Greek word Oedipus means swollen foot and, in Greek mythology, Oedipus was a Greek prince who married his mother and murdered his father. The strong attachment of a son to his mother combined with unconscious feelings of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

AlQahtani rawan.ccsit@gmail.com wala407@hotmail.com tfh20@hotmail.com Maha0ali@yahoo.com Abstract A new methodology for customer knowledge management in the female central library in the University of Dammam is needed because of the big amount of customers information that exist there. Customers include employees, students, faculty members and researchers in the university. so, the purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for organizing customer knowledge in this library. In general, the proposed methodology is for developing a customer knowledge taxonomy model (CKT). By using and applying this model the customer knowledge can be classified into three categories: knowledge about customers, knowledge from customers and knowledge for customers. in addition, this paper proposes a strategy of merging the first and second categories of customer knowledge to form the third category. As a result of this case study, the librarians are expected to use the CKT model to organize customer knowledge which will help in facilitating the knowledge management activities including storing and sharing the knowledge. That will help them also to understand the preferences and the requirements of their customers so they can provide better services for them. Finally, it s expected that the proposed methodology can be used by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Symbolism And Symbolism In Kate Chopin s The Awakening A key aspect in writing an interesting story is having symbolism. It allows the reader to dive just a little bit deeper into the meaning and core of the work. Birds are a fairly common symbol, serving as representations of freedom, breaking free, and not afraid to be loud or to speak their minds. In Kate Chopin s novella, The Awakening, birds are used to show Edna s true feelings and desires, to explain the courage required to defy the standards, and to show Edna s final defeat. Many animals, especially birds, seem to communicate in a language that only they can really understand. The novella starts by setting a scene with the description of two birds who do exactly that. Chopin begins by stating, A green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door, kept repeating over and over: Allez vous en! Allez vous en! Sapristi! That s all right! He could speak a little Spanish, and also a language which nobody understood, unless it was the mocking bird that hung on the other side of the door, whistling his fluty notes out upon the breeze with maddening persistence (Chopin 1). The green and yellow parrot represents Edna Pontellier. She feels as if she is stuck in a golden cage with only one other being who understands her. She has always had food on her plate and her husband provides a stable income and life for her. The mocking bird represents Mademoiselle Reisz, because she is the only other being who understands what Edna, or the parrot, is feeling and wanting to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Hobsbawm s The Golden Age Of Capitalism The Golden Years were perhaps best characterized by the overwhelming economic dominance of the USA and of the dollar, which had become dominant when the value of the British pound sterling deteriorated as a result of the second World War. The US dollar was still linked to a specific quantity of gold at the time. A return to laissez faire policies and the unconstructed free market was simply out of the question. Specific political objectives had attained absolute priority, including full employment, absolute containment of communism and modernization or revitalization of any and all economies that were lagging behind. In practice, the Golden Age was an era of free trade, free capitalist movements and stable currencies that had been orchestrated by astute wartime planners. The global economy was becoming increasingly international, but it would not become transnational until later in the 1990s, although new terms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like Hobsbawm, its authors provide an intelligent analysis of this critical period in the American experience. The work details the historical context of the era, including evolution of macroeconomic structure, the international order, systems of production, and the rules of coordination. A critical element of the postwar macroeconomic structure (the set of mechanisms for managing the overall level of economic performance, including output, performance and growth) was investment demand. The new role of trade unions and the commitment to government intervention to maintain aggregate demand proved essential to fostering a successful macroeconomic structure (Marglin, ... • 30. Symbolism In The Pale Man Visually, the Pale Man is horrendous and intimidating, similar to the frog. The setting the pale man lives in also adds the monstrous characteristics he possesses. The room s ceiling is painted of the portraits of children that have been slaughtered by this monster. The scene shows a pile of shoes in one corner. On the other corner, the skeletons of the bodies of the children rest. The Pale Man sits at the end of a long table that is covered with food such as red grape, red fruit tarts, and red wine. The Pale Man has very long, dark, and grotesque finger nails. His eyeballs are placed on a tray in front of him, not on his face. His body is bare and has rigid skin. His only facial features are his lips and the sockets where his eyes belong. Jones describes, His face is molten skin. His skin hangs from him and his legs are emaciated, indicating his inherent lifelessness (44). Moreover, The Pale Man s monstrous characters mirror the monstrous people and events in the film. The visual aspects describe the bigger picture of society. The Pale Man takes away the childhood and innocence of children. In a similar sense, the Pale Man depicts the rob on individuality in an entire nation (Jones 44). He has deprived others of living an individual life. The portraits of children and pile of shoes also give insight on the state of Spain. These images, recall the historical reality of the holocaust... where piles of belongings, including the shoes, of its victims are displayed as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Auditing and Financial Report Solutions Manual to accompany Auditing: a practical approach by Jane Hamilton CHAPTER 1 Introduction and overview of auditing [pic] John Wiley Sons Australia, Ltd 2010 Chapter 1 Introduction and overview of auditing 1. What does assurance mean in the financial reporting context? Who are the three parties relevant to an assurance engagement? An assurance engagement (or service) is defined as an engagement in which an assurance practitioner expresses a conclusion designed to enhance the degree of confidence of the intended users other than the responsible party about the outcome of the evaluation or measurement of a subject matter against criteria (Framework for ... Finally, the auditors will benefit from additional revenue which can be used to subsidise the audit firm s investments in knowledge and systems, and streamline the audit. The main disadvantages of audit firms providing services to their audit clients relate to potential adverse effects on the auditor s independence. The auditor could be unwilling to provide services which would reduce their audit fees or cause the client to seek another auditor. The auditor could be unwilling to criticise something to the client which was provided by their consulting division. The auditor could be blind to potential adverse impacts on the client s accounting systems from products and services provided by their consulting division. Even if the consulting provided unquestionable benefits to the client, the relationship between the audit firm and the client could become too cosy , and discourage the client from considering other auditors. Finally, the auditor could be reluctant to qualify the audit report for fear of losing lucrative fees from consulting services. If this occurs, the audit is less valuable because the auditor is less independent.
