Essay on Benedict Arnold
Benedict Arnold
The name Benedict Arnold has become a synonym for a traitor to one s country. In the first years of
the American Revolution, however, Arnold was a brilliant and dashing general, highly respected for
his service to the patriot cause (see Revolution, American).
Benedict Arnold was born on Jan. 14, 1741, in Norwich, Conn. His father,
Benedict, was a well to do landowner. His mother was Hannah King Waterman Arnold.
While a boy, young Arnold twice ran away to join the colonial troops fighting in the French and Indian
War. When he was 21 he settled in New Haven. In time he became a prosperous merchant and a
captain in the Connecticut militia. He married Margaret Mansfield in 1767. They had three sons.

including land speculation in Canada. He died in London on June 14, 1801.
In the first years of the American Revolution, Arnold was a brilliant and courageous general, highly
respected for his service to the patriot cause.
Benedict Arnold was born on Jan. 14, 1741, in Norwich, Conn. He was a very daring boy. He once ran
on a millwheel with another kid. He was also known to love fireworks and once was caught lighting a
jug of gunpowder that would have resulted in a big explosion. When he was a little older (about 17),
Arnold twice ran away to join the colonial troops fighting in the French and Indian War.
When he was 21 he moved to New Haven. In time he became a prosperous merchant and a captain in
the Connecticut militia. He married Margaret Mansfield in 1767.
They had three sons.
Arnold played a gallant part in the American Revolution and became a major general in 1777. His
wife had died in 1775 and early in 1779 he married Margaret
Shippen, by whom he had four sons and one daughter. Arnold was not careful with his money and
soon found himself hard up for cash. It was because of this that he began his treasonable activities.

Essay on Haute Cuisine and Antonin Careme
Haute Cuisine has been characterized by French cuisine, and modernized in every era. On June eighth,
1784 a revolutionary French cook was born Marie Antoine Carème, also known as Antonin Crème.
Antonin would inevitably be known as The king of chefs, and chef of kings . Antonin s beginning
would not be easy like a kings, his training would lead him to cook magnificently, and he would affect
society for centuries with his amazing talent. Antonin was born in Paris, France, where he had been
abandoned by his parents at the height of the French Revolution. He would begin his career as a

career would alter dining in style forever. Antonin s amazing design for food would create an elegance
and standard for French cooking. Placing food cohesively on a plate and coordinating the look of the
table the chefs would use for centuries to come. In any high end resturaunt the same techniques that
Antonin had used to attract customers chef s today use to attract customers. Not only by making

English 101 Writing Techniques
Writing an essay in its entirety is challenging to some and to others it may not be. The key is to learn
the dos and do nots when writing an essay. Today, there is still confusion on what English writers
should say to get their point across and do it effectively without any problems. The usual English 101
writer has difficulty with 3 techniques. They include taking the most common side, the use of pat
expressions, and the use of colorless words. The first reason that many English students struggle with
is taking the most common side than the less popular side. Many students pick the most common side
because it is the easy way out . They usually do not take the less common side due to not having
anything to say on the topic or it is too challenging

Saudi Aramco Essays
Saudi Aramco
The largest world supplier oil company is Saudi Aramco. It is the most profitable company on the
earth. Since it is the most powerful oil company, it has a great impact on the world economy. As a
result, a strong international relationship was built with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In addition, the
strong developing of international relationship with other industrial countries resulted in massive
contributions to the politics, economy, and many different aspects. In 1933, Saudi government
bestowed oil concession to California Arabian Standard Oil Company (Chevron). The main factor for
this grant was to explore the oil in the eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. After

which eventually became Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remained relinquished with no boundaries. After
King Abdul Aziz who was supported by Great Britain united Arabs and defeated the hostiles in quarter

urging British Petroleum to explore the oil in Saudi Arabia while the British Petroleum company was
negotiating with him not for interest but for preventing other companies to enter this area. However, a
former British official who had left his service and converted to Islam became a loyal adviser for King
Abdul Aziz, John Philby, and so he did a great job bringing foreign companies to the Kingdom. In
fact, he was the one who suggested opening a competition among the oil companies. Taking that
suggestion, King Abdul Aziz signed a sixty years oil concession agreement with Chevron in 1933
covering the whole eastern region of Saudi Arabia. Faced with such difficulties exploring job,
Chevron had to sell 50% of the concession to Texaco. Surprisingly, that area became the richest oil

Summary Of Go-Betweens And The Colonization Of Brazil
In history, what often occurred was that influential individuals who occupied the middle ground
during exploration were forgotten. These third party individuals are called go betweens and they
helped Europeans connect with different cultural groups. The 16th century brought enormous change
by the Portuguese to the indigenous groups who lived in Brazil. The colonization of Brazil owes its
success to transactional, representational, and physical/biological go betweens. The book, Go
betweens and the Colonization of Brazil, written by Alida Metcalf explores the roles of these go
betweens and their impact. When the Portuguese first landed in Brazil it was by accident, they were
aiming for India. The admiral Pedro Alvares Cabral anchored his ships off the coast and he remained
in Brazil for only ten days. Cabral understood that they needed to proceed with caution because
everything they did was based on what occurred when the Portuguese first went to Africa. Cabral
understood the dangers of not having go betweens in a new land. Even though Cabral had many
translators on his ships, they did not have anyone that were from Brazil. The translators were Africans
or Afro Portuguese. This leads into the first type of go betweens mentioned in the book and it is
transactional.
The most easily recognized of the go betweens are the transactional. These go betweens were
translators, negotiators, and cultural brokers. They had the power to shift their loyalties and create
complex relationships. Cabral had brought two dozen criminal exiles on his journey and because they
did not have any translators he left two criminals at their first stop. When the criminals were left, their
job was to learn the Indian customs, language, and culture. This showed the long term interest that
they had in Brazil. This laid the foundation for the creation of translators for future use. When
criminals were left their job was to learn the Indian customs, which shows the long term interest they
had.
Many of the first transactional go betweens are unknown to historians because of being semiliterate
and not writing about their experiences. By the middle of the 16th century, one group of go betweens
that appeared were the Norman interpreters. They

The Family Dynamics And Management Of Industrias La Vega
There have been issues regarding the family dynamics and management of Industrias La Vega that
have been brought to my attention. Some of the issues that were brought to my attention have been
addressed, which is commendable, but will still be discussed. However, the recommendations are still
being made in order to continually improve the family dynamics within the business. The
recommendations that are being made should only be implemented if it is the best course of action for
your family with regards to the business.
The first issue that occurs within the family dynamics regarding the business is lack of transparency.
Lack of transparency occurs when family members do not share knowledge about the business with
each other. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, as a long term solution, the rights of shareholders and responsibilities of the manager to
shareholders should be put in writing in the form of policies and procedures. It might also be in the
best interest of the business to create policies regarding dividend payments and liquidity because this
appeared to be an issue also.
The second issue that is occurring within the family is a combination of an established entitlement
culture and the erosion of the entrepreneurial culture. These issues arise when family members have
an unsustainable culture of consumption and are using the business as an ATM. This is entitlement
culture was established when Francisco Sr. would grant every request for money, new houses, and
trips. The entitlement culture continued when Francisco Jr. became CEO and began using company
funds to purchase a luxury car, helicopter and a boat that were essential to his executive post. The
recommendation for immediate action is to stop the granting of requests for family members, if it has
not already. Also it is recommended that Francisco Jr. be directed to stop purchasing luxuries with
company funds for his personal use. Long term recommendations to solve these issues include writing
a family constitution that includes a guide to the family s relationship to wealth and the business.
Another recommendation would be to create policies that describe a process for purchases using
company funds, and what entities the funds can be used to purchase.

Defining An Adult
Society s definition of an adult can and is very controversial, because society says a person is an adult
when that individual reaches the age of eighteen, which is the legal age. The definition that society
gives is controversial because, if an individual is not looked at as an adult until the age of eighteen, but
can be tried in court at the age of sixteen and up. Societies definition falls apart at this point. Basically,
what society is telling us that a person who is out in the world committing adult level crimes if this
person is not at the age of eighteen and is not a fully developed person than that individual should not
be tried as an adult in court but, they get tried in adult court anyways. This is when the topic of what is

The human brain finishes developing at the age of twenty five. Just because some individual stops
growing physically between the ages of sixteen and eighteen, does not mean that they are adult ready.
Society thinks that at eighteen you are ready to face the world at eighteen, society is wrong. At
eighteen you do not have all the skills needed to be an adult, most importantly the individual is not
biologically ready. The individual is not mature enough to be considered biologically ready for
adulthood. To have the maturity level if an adult, a person needs to understand the difference from
right and wrong, can defend themselves appropriately, cannot let things get to them to make them mad
or over react. This is something that society really does not care about, if the person is biologically
ready to be an adult. A lot of the people who are considered adults today are still in high school or in
their first year of college, those individuals are out here making the same teenage immature mistakes
that anyone else is making. Although a person is making childish mistakes and even though this
individual knows that they are not ready to be an adult they are still considered an adult because well
they meet society s adult standards. Most individuals do not obtain the most important thing about
being biologically ready which is maturity until the age of twenty five when their brain is done
developing. I think that this

Factors Affecting The Best For Watering Plants With Water
In my science experiment, I am trying to see which liquid works the best for watering plants with

given the equal amount of sunlight, the growing plant with water will grow the tallest, because
anybody with at least a fourth grade education know that plants are mostly watered with water. Water

Water helps the plant stand tall by delivering nutrients to it. This is why a plant drops over when it s
dying of thirst. A liquid with the right amount of nutrients will help the plant grow.
Water can split up into the two things it s made up of hydrogen and oxygen.
Other liquids are not nessecerally made up of hydrogen and oxygen, so the effect on plant growth will
change.
Cellular respiration is something a plant uses as help for growing. It is glucose combines with oxygen,
making carbon dioxcide and water, which releases energy: the energy helps the plant grow.
MATERIALS:
To preform my experiment, I will need...
Plastic Bowls (6)
Green Bean Seeds (24)
Supply of Water
Supply of Milk
Supply of Kool Aid
Supply of Vinegar
Supply f Pepsi
Supply of Propel
1/3 cup measuring cup

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Personality Analysis
One of the aims of Social psychologists is to research and explain individual differences in behaviour.
Theories of personality were developed between different but related strands such as clinical,
psychometric and experimental tradition; they looked at people behaviour to find out why individuals
act and respond to stimuli differently in common situations (Butt, 2012). Behaviour, emotion and
thought are the qualities that characterise each individual while he interacts with the social
environment, i.e. the definition of what is understood by personality. As cited by Butt (2012) traits are
relatively enduring ways in which an individual differs from another (Butt, 2012 p.46).
Two different approaches have their theory about personality: trait theory by Eysenck (1965) which
has origins from the psychometric tradition of measurement based on the experimental approach and
Kelly s (1995) personal construct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This essay is going to discuss the two theories highlighting the strengths and weakness for both
approaches. Trait theory was developed from the psychometric tradition by Eysenck and Ranchman
(1964) that used variables such as cognitive ability and IQ to assess individual differences; however,
criticism argued that IQ tests would favour only white middle class. Eysenck (1965) adopted a
nomothetic approach, which classifies personality dimensions, to measure and describe the individual
differences of personality. In Eysenck s and Ranchman (1964) approach, the science of personality
was a means of clarifying psychiatric classification. He believed that individual s behaviour, i.e.
personality, is influenced by biological characteristics: causal factors at a neurological level can
influence individual s temperament and behaviour. However, he recognised that other features such as
individual s past

Why Were The Non-Aligned Movement

The Non Aligned movement is a movement which represents developing countries and their thoughts
and interests about the world. The Non Aligned movement was made when people were fighting for
independence and when the colonial system was breaking down. This movement is used by many
countries as a voice to express themselves because in many other alliances or movements they are
oppressed by the more developed and grown economies. The Non aligned movement (NAM) has 115

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke defines dementia as: word for a group of
symptoms caused by disorders that affect the brain. It is not a specific disease. People with dementia
may not be able to think well enough to do normal activities, such as getting dressed or eating. They
may lose their ability to solve problems or control their emotions. Their personalities may change.
They may become agitated or see things that are not there. (Health, 2014).This essay is going to
discuss and explore what dementia is and the four main types of dementia which includes Alzheimer s
Disease, Vascular Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia and Lewy Body Dementia. Then it explores
the physiology changes in different types and the signs and symptoms of dementia. This effect can
change the life of people having dementia to suffer in physical issues, social isolation and mental
illness. Next, it discusses how environmental changes and music therapy strategies work in dementia.
Lastly, the supports that Alzheimer s Australia and Emmy Monash Aged Care can provide. (Bleiler
2011). Dementia cannot be classified as one specific disease as it is associated with many different
types of diseases. Several different forms of dementia exist, with four of the most common including
Alzheimer s disease, Vascular Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia and Lewy Body Dementia.
Alzheimer s disease named after a German physician, Alois Alzheimer, who first described it in 1906.

Within the five poems we have studied, La Belle Dame Sans Merci , Lady of Shalott , My last duchess
, Porphyria s lover and Marianna . Women are portrayed as weak characters with no voice. All of these
poems are seen through the eyes of men, who accuse them of being self centred and lacking in morals.
However, these judgements can be placed upon the men themselves. The social/historical position of
women during the nineteenth century can be identified within the poems. Browning s dramatic
monologues in particular show women s lack of voice and dependency on men during the eighteen
hundreds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keats describes her, as a faerys child and later says in language strange she said I love thee true this
implies her mythical quality which mystifies and captures the knight .
The poem represents three characters the narrator, the knight and La belle dame. The story is told by
the knight, but begins with opening questions from the narrator, o what can ail thee knight at arms,
Alone and palely loitering? Keats portrays La belle dame in a negative light, as a character who
distrusts and mistreats the knight. Perhaps this expresses keats feelings towards women, however he
creates separate characters with different personalities. Although La belle dame is described as a
beautiful mythical creature she uses the knight and leaves him to die. In the last three stanzas of the
poem the knight describes the sight of dead men on the cold hill side who have also been enthralled by
the faery s child . Her kind words and beauty tricked the knight along with the other men. The title La
Belle Dame Sans Merci the beautiful women without mercy highlights this.

superficial human beings who fall for the beauty of woman. The knight is fooled by the faery s child

The Effects Of Media On Body Dissatisfaction Of Young...
The media is an important aspect of the current society and is ever present to the public. With the
creation of new technology, there are more and more ways the media can be received and displayed
for people to see everywhere they go. There are so many media sights nowadays such as Instagram,
Twitter, and Facebook, as well as new magazines, commercials and other media publications made
every day that allow people to connect to current events and new trends. Although today s media has
the potential to have a positive or negative impact on the lives of the people, there have been many
controversial debates on the impact of the media on the body dissatisfaction of young girls and
adolescents. Body dissatisfaction can be described as the negative self evaluation of one s own
appearance and to be more physically attractive, and is fairly common in young girls and adolescents.
Approximately one hundred studies of media effects on body dissatisfaction have been conducted with
the majority of these showing at least some evidence, (Ferguson, Munoz, Contreras, Velasquez). Many
psychological experts and specialists have explored the effect of the media on developing female girls

image of female adolescents and young girls. In the current media, women are idealized as skinny,

Reward Management Essay
Reward Management (RM) has been defined as the distribution of monetary and non monetary
rewards to employees in an effort to align the interests of the employees, the organisation, and its
shareholders (O Neil, 1998). In addition O Neil (1998) also suggests that a RM system can serve the
purpose of attracting prospective job applicants, retaining valuable employees, motivating employees,
ensuring legal requirements relating to direct and indirect rewards are not violated, assisting the
company in achieving human resource and business objectives, and ultimately assisting the
organisation in obtaining a competitive advantage.

Similarly, Cascio (1991) suggests that the combination of the following five requirements along with a
performance based pay system can also have a very significant impact on performance. The first of
these is skill variety, where a wide variety of tasks or procedures is available to the employee. Next is
task identity, where the employee can clearly identify the output of a task as a product of their efforts.
This is followed by task significance, where the work is recognised as important and meaningful.
After this comes autonomy, where the employees have a major say in work planning and execution.
The final requirement is feedback, where employees receive constructive advice or criticism on their
performance.
The rewards offered can be extrinsic such as wages, incentives and bonuses, or intrinsic such as job
satisfaction, an internal feeling of worth and a sense of well being on the job.
O Neil (1998) suggests six minimal criteria for the design of a performance based pay system. The
first of these criteria is that the reward system should be self funding, that is, the performance
increases should as a minimum offset the cost of the rewards provided. The second criterion is that the
distribution of the rewards must be consistent, fair and justifiable. In addition reward plans must be
transparent and clearly communicated. The third criterion

Inception is an overhyped blockbuster accompanied by several moving parts that will leave you in

everything he loves. Cobb gets a second shot at redemption. He s offered a job, plant an idea in
someone s mind. If successful it s the perfect crime, but even with intricate planning a dangerous
enemy awaits them at every turn. With only one man that could have foreseen this, Cobb. One of the
most anticipated movies of the summer, leading to an outrageous amount of hype being built up prior

John Calvin on God s Divine Providence Essay
John Calvin on God s Divine Providence
In John Calvin s Institutes of the Christian Religion he spends a great deal of time expounding his
doctrine of God s Divine providence in all of creation. He explains not only how God continually
governs the laws of nature, but also how God governs man s actions and intentions to bring about His
own Divine Will. Calvin believes that God s providence is so encompassing in creation that even a
man s own actions, in many ways, are decreed by God. Because of this belief there arises the question,
Does Calvin leave room for the free will of man? At the outset I must make clear that Calvin defines
Providence as this: providence means not that by which God idly observes from heaven what ... Show

He believes that God s act of creation did not stop after He created man, but continues all throughout
the past, present and future. Calvin not only believes that God cares for all of man and animals, but
directs the weather and excersises His power over inanimate objects. Calvin even goes so far as to
argue that the movement of the sun, moon, stars, and planets is continued by God s power and not by
some energy that was given to them at the beginning of creation, which carnal sense would tell us
(Calvin 197). He does not believe that God sits back and watches or allows things in nature to happen,
but actually causes them to happen. For example, if there was a drought one summer it was caused by
God, possibly part of His vengeance or wrath. Or, if the crops flourished the next summer it was also
His plan. Likewise, let us say per chance (no pun intended) a man is walking along a mountain pass
and some rocks fall and kill him. For Calvin this was not an accident, but a determination and the Will
of God. Calvin s ideology of God s Providence in nature is summed up in this quote:
And truly God claims, and would have us grant him, omnipotence not the empty, idle, and almost
unconscious sort that the Sophists imagine, but a watchful, effective, active sort, engaged in ceaseless
activity. Not, indeed, an omnipotence that is only a general principle of confused motion, as if he were
to command a river to flow through its once appointed channels, but one that

Closed Itemsets Mining Closed Itemset
2.4.1 A Closed Algorithm Mining closed itemset, initially proposed in [23] Pasquier et al .A close
algorithm is a basic algorithm in frequent closed itemsets mining which is based on Apriori
algorithm[25] in frequent item mining. A close operation is performed in the following two general
steps: Producing frequent generators and achieving closure of frequent generators. For A close
algorithm, an itemset p is generator of closed itemset y, if p is one of smallest itemsets (it may be more
than one), and it determines y with Galois closure operator h(p)=y [26]. To produce generators, a level
wise approach, similar to that of Apriori algorithm is taken. Then three steps of pruning are conducted
on candidate generators, and useless generators are pruned thereby[26]. The operation of generator
production is repeated until no other generator is produced. After producing generators G1 to Gn (n is
maximum generator size), closure of all these frequent generators should be computed. The closure of
all frequent generators results in all closed frequent itemsets. The technique for calculating closure as
the next.
The closure of generator p which is achieved by applying function h from Relation (3) on p, is
intersection of all database transactions that include p . A close algorithm uses breath first search
strategy for mining operation, and itemset lattice is analyzed in a bottom up way. Its weak point is the
great number of candid items and passes from dataset, leading to much

Radiology is a career path that can lead to many places other than diagnostic imaging. Once I finish
the program for Radiology, I have many aspirations for the future. I intend on completing my
bachelors in science and enrolling in courses for CT and MRI certification. My overall goal is to go
into Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine in the next five years. Diagnostic Imaging is the career
that I am currently in school for and is very interesting to me as well as helpful to the patients. X Ray

There are also many in betweens that fall in radiology such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),
computed tomography (CT), specials, cath lab, mammography, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine.
People can even go into management in the radiology field or expand out into sales of radiology
equipment. This field is also always in the top three annual revenue services in every hospital so it is
not a field that will be disappearing anytime in the future. With scientific advancements always
changing, there are no limits to where radiology can go in the future and may even find new
diagnostic studies that can be performed to help more people in need. Although radiology is a great
career choice, it does come with its down side. Technologists in many portions of the radiologic
sciences are exposed to certain amounts of radiation which has a negative effect on the human body.
There are many safety precautions that technologists have to take like wearing lead shields anytime
they are in the exam room with patients, and they also must record their employee dose, or their
personal radiation intake, by wearing a dosimeter and having the readings checked monthly to insure
that they are not getting over radiated over a certain amount of time. Overall, this is a very good career
choice and also makes me feel better to potentially help

Enzyme Activity Lab Report
Do Different Temperatures of Hydrogen Peroxide Affect Enzyme Activity?
Purpose To test the activity of an enzyme called catalase when hydrogen peroxide is at different
temperatures.
Background
Hydrogen peroxide (H202) is a chemical that is a by product of many chemical reactions in living
cells. Hydrogen peroxide is also extremely toxic to human cells. It can damage DNA, proteins and
lipid membranes, and it may be a causing factor of cancer. If the hydrogen peroxide in our bodies is
not broken down into water and oxygen, then the buildup of the hydrogen peroxide will kill humans.
Since hydrogen peroxide is toxic to the body, the body has developed a way to get rid of the hydrogen
peroxide in the body by producing an enzyme to act as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Brazilian Economy
Brazil
Brazil is one of South America s most influential and powerful Countries, and leading its cause to
become one of the world s most influential counties. Brazil is one of the BRICS countries. BRICS
refers to Brazil Russia India China and South Africa becoming economic figures due to their newly
advanced economic development. Much of brazil s increase in wealth comes down to the vast amount
of natural resources in the country such as Iron ore a resource craved by many large manufacturing
nations, furthering this Brazil has recently been able to capitalise on their offshore oil resources allow
them to become self sufficient for energy an area where they previously struggled and relied heavily

Originally intended to combat the 2008 recession, however since the large boom of brazil s economy,
public spending has continued to grow, with public spending at high levels and inflation currently at
6% a full 1.5% above the target level of 4.5%, the fiscal policy has the potential to create major issues
for Brazils long term growth and sustainability. With the need to cut around 2.5% of Government
spending in order to continue to have a surplus whilst re paying loans and interest on its loans Brazil
could see its decrease in unequal wealth distribution reversed and actually cause further polarisation
by being unable to fund the least wealthiest. Brazil s need to reduce its spending comes at a difficult
with more expenses than usual to deal with, such as the world cup in 2014 and The Olympics in 2016,
meaning public money needs to be invested increasing infrastructure such as sport venues, roads and
airports. This could cause problems to Brazil s continued development and success, however if done
to success Brazil could benefit from these great sporting events with possible increased trade,
exposure and tourism.
On the whole Brazil is a country continuing to grow and achieve both economically and socially this
can be seen in a variety of ways from its inclusion in the BRICS to its higher levels of GDP in recent
years.

The Ethical, Negligence, And Environmental Issues
Discuss in detail the ethical, negligence, and environmental issues you see in this case. British
Petroleum has a large operation in the United States and it has made investments to ensure that it
develops these operations to maximize its production and increase profits. One such investment was
the acquisition of the vast oil field at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. This acquisition represented a good
increase in the percentage of oil production in the United States and ensured that the company could
increase its production and further its goals and objectives for the United States market. As early as
2001 there were incidents at the facility that the company internally accounted for and management
was made aware of the safety concerns that existed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the problem had been brought up by employees and management failed to make the right decision,
it is still not ethical. These were glaring problems management refused to address. The further
problem of BP s overall management not enforcing company policy means that there is a culture of
unethical decision making where economics gains far outweigh the adherence to safety regulations
(BP s Troubled Past, 2010).
BP had rented the rig from Transocean for $500,000 per day. Transocean had been recognized by the
U.S. government for its safety record. Can companies distance themselves from liability and
responsibility through the use of contractors?
With BP renting the rig from Transocean for $500,000 per day, the company was sharing liability with
Transocean as well. Transocean would be held liable according to the provisions of the contract that
the two companies signed. Because the law of vicarious liability is very vague, BP cannot distance
itself from liability and responsibility through the use of a contractor (Conn, 2009). The provisions of
the contract should have stated exactly what BP would be responsible for, and what Transocean would
be responsible for. With that said, Conn (2009) pointed out several factors that come into play when
sharing liability and addressed the problem with the following points: Companies usually seek the
help of experts to perform particular tasks. BP had contracted Transocean

Project Scope

Scope v Time Cost When people talk about scope, they immediately think time and cost. Time and
cost are outputs of scope. Determining scope is a different exercise. In the context of this white paper,
when we talk about defining the scope, we are talking about developing a common understanding as
to what is included in, or excluded from, a project. We are not talking about deciding how long it will
take, or how much it will cost. That comes after the scope is defined. If we were looking for a car, we
would first define the scope. For example we want a 4 cylinder front wheel drive with seating for 2
adults and 2 children, and less than 2 years old. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Biomedical And Health Informatics Have Been Increased Demand
Biomedical and health informatics have been in increased demand. Bloomrosen (2010) indicated the
barriers to universal access to quality and cost effective care have contributed to such demand;
consequently, many healthcare agencies have conducted research to provide up to date, and unbiased
evidence on healthcare interventions. A wealth of available data is now available for meaningfully

The development of Evidence Based Practice (EBP) has become an interest for Federal health reform
as well as public and private sectors, consumers, and providers; subsequently, when research is
adequately funded and evidence based treatment options become available and ready to be introduced
into practice, this is achieved through translational research. In the early 1990 s, translational research
appeared in mainly cancer related studies. More recently, the National Institute of Health (NIH)
definition of translational research has been cited as the process of applying discoveries generated
during research in the laboratory, and in preclinical studies, to the development of trials and studies in
humans; and the second area of translation concerns research aimed at enhancing the adoption of best
practices in the community with cost effectiveness of prevention and treatment strategies ( Rubio, et

research that may quicken the transition from research to the clinicians by improving multidisciplinary
collaboration and communication: Applies new knowledge generated in the laboratory to new
methods that can be tested on humans; takes the results of the above human studies and refines them
for use in daily clinical practice; takes these practices beyond

Manifest Destiny Symbolism
Manifest Destiny was an idea expressed during west ward expansion. It was the belief that God
ordained that Americans must travel from coast to coast. Americans were also supposed to share their
light to the primitive natives. Natives in the photo are showed in the darker side of the painting. They
are fleeing from the giant angel heading towards them. The angel in the middle of the painting
carrying a book and telegraph wires to insinuate their intellectual dominance. The painting tries to
show how in the early to mid 19th century Americans believed God is always on their side and
justifies everything they do from taking land to racism. In the painting, the big angel stands out at the
center intending to portray God s support of western expansion. This is done by putting the angel
smack in the center and having multiple shapes draw the eye to it. For example, the mountain range in
the background of the photo makes a triangle that has the angel where the summit of the mountain
should be. Also, the angel is carrying telegraph lines which make the observer look at the angel. The
angel is facing west towards unconquered land and seems to almost be pointing towards that land.
That land is also in the dark. Behind the angle is bright light which draws the eye. The angel is
bringing light to the land it touches. This light is the light of knowledge and God s blessing, which
comes from the background of the painting. Manifest mean holy or divine. Therefore, God is the

An Interview With Dane Brewer
I had the opportunity to interview Dane Brewer, the former owner of a Utah local business called
Advantech. Dane now lives where I grew up in Moab, Utah. Moab, being a small town everyone is
pretty tight knit and that is how I had the opportunity to talk with Dane on the phone for this project.
Growing up my dad was always a busy business person. I remember ever since I was younger I
wanted to become a business owner just like him. He was a very helpful man with big dreams and
now that I am grown up I see myself in that man day to day.
This memo summarizes the extent knowledge Dane has in entrepreneurship as well as great advice he

Education
In interviewing Dane Brewer he informed me on his education. He graduated from the University of
Utah with a Bachelor s of Science of Electrical Engineering. This degree is not limited to Electrical
work. This degree is all about electricity to power to how to design computers. To complete this
degree Dane spent four years and one summer in school.
The first three years of college Dane worked for Utah Power and Light (Rocky Mountain Power).
While he was working for them he read about a scientist of the name Dr. Thomas Stockum Jr.
Stockum created the first audio recorded and Dane was extremely interested in this because he loved
music. When Dane was a senior he went to the company Stockum was running and practically begged

some oversimplification, we might describe these changes as a turn from a niche market to a mass
market. This evolution is fostering changes in winemaking practices as well as in the conception of
wine quality, which imply a departure from the traditions of the industry. Traditional winemaking
practices and conceptions of good wine were institutionalised in the denomination of origin
regulations. These regulations embed each wine within a geographical locus of production, implying a
dependence of production on natural contingencies. On the contrary, the exploitation of emergent
market opportunities requires a finer control of production. This caused the diffusion of methods of
winemaking that allow stabilisation of the quality of wines across time (vintages) and space, loosening
the tie between grape and geographical area. Much of this change in production practices has been

worthy of being noticed by others. He will be a normal looking man. Starting in verse three the
description becomes worse. He is described as despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and
acquainted with grief. The Jewish leaders expected to receive two people a man of sorrows and a
conquering King. They did not expect one person could fulfill both descriptions by appearing on two
occasions. While Christ was a man of sorrows, because He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows, it
pleased the Lord to bruise him. Through Christ

Wes Anderson As An Auteur
What exactly is an auteur? According to Graham Roberts and Heather Wallis, film s generic ideas
produced creative conventions in cinema language which could then be exploited and developed by
individual artists into a personal vision (127). That individual artist is the auteur; someone who,
through their work, displays several key qualities that are uniquely their own, namely: reoccurring
themes and plotlines throughout their movies; specific stylistic qualities in their films such as mise en
scene and cinematography styles; similar character attributes and traits; and narrative structure and
features (Roberts and Wallis 128). Throughout cinema s history, only several directors have ever been
referred to as an auteur . Some names that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While The Royal Tenenbaums is a clear example of how the entire movie is structured around the
family, his other works also incorporate the same family orientated structure. Take The Darjeeling
Limited (2007) for example. The movie surrounds three estranged brothers, Peter, Francis and Jack,
all with their own personal conflicts which as mentioned earlier, is another common Anderson theme
as they travel together to meet their mother. In The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Ned, whose
mother has recently passed away, believes that Steve is his father. Even his stop motion film Fantastic
Mr Fox (2009) was an adaptation of Roald Dahl s novel that surrounded a family of foxes. Wes
Anderson s continued use of the idea of family as part of the storyline for his movies is another key
trait of his which makes him qualify as another of film s

Why We Should Introduce Australia
Principal, teachers, parents and friends welcome. Thank you for this opportunity to speak to you
today.
Are you all aware that there are over 7000 languages spoken in the world today? In recent years,
Australian schools located in metropolitan area were just starting to introduce languages classes other
than English, such as French, Chinese or Indonesia. So that student could choose any other languages
that offer, as their second language. Compares to China, English are compulsory throughout lower and
upper schools and I personally believe that this will result in having a disadvantage position for us as
Australians.
Manea Senior College is specially design for senior s students, who willing to continue for further
study or start their employment. We should take in the accountability that, there will be students who
needing another language to help assist for better opportunities? In order to help students to develops,
I strongly suggest that we should offer more language classes. What languages should Australian
schools introduce? There are studies suggested that Asian languages (Indonesian, Chinese and
Japanese) are preferred to taught in Australia comparing with European languages. I would say that
both languages would not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By knowing a second language broadens employment opportunities. Nowadays China is getting
stronger and their businesses are growing throughout the world. Australia is the only nations that are
locate near to china, so I personally would recommend our school to introduce Chinese as a second
language for sure. According to my background, I am a student who come a from a bilingual country
that speak at least 3 different language. Personally I have the feeling of language empowerment;
language is the main tool for communication so by having the ability to speak more than one language
can always empower us and our

Wobbler Syndrome Summary
Critique of Scientific Articled The article I reviewed discussed a study of the body shape and
alignment in a breed of dogs called Great Danes. Some of the dogs had a disease called Cervical
Spondylomyelopathy, commonly known as Wobbler Syndrome or CSM, and some of them were
perfectly normal and healthy. The cause of this disease is unknown but many believe that it is a mix of
large breed dogs having a large and heavy head and long neck which can cause irregular forces on the
vertebrae of the neck. The study included 15 dogs with Wobblers and 15 dogs who had no clinical
signs of wobblers. In the beginning stages, wobblers causes dogs to have a funny, wobbly walk in
their back legs and they will seem extra clumsy. This study used MRI scans to determine that there
were no distinct differences in dogs with Wobbler Syndrome verses those who are healthy. This
finding disproved the original hypothesis that it is caused by a large head and long neck. ... Show

This study can help the scientific and veterinary communities to narrow down what does actually
cause CSM. I believe this study was conducted in a mostly correct manner; however, I would have
liked for them to include more than one single breed of dog. Also, body measurements were taken
with a soft fabric tape measure which could stretch over time leading to incorrect measurements.
Overall, I believe that this study was conducted in a manner which exemplifies the scientific method
and was presented in a great

Genghis Khan Dbq
The grasslands of Central Asia are known as steppes. In ancient times the only people that lived there
were pastoralists. These were nomadic people who survived by herding animals who fed on grass, the
only plants that grew there. The land and harsh environment taught these nomadic people to be harsh
and do what was necessary The people of this land were viewed as uncivilized and barbaric by settled
people. However, one such group ,known as the Mongols, soon conquered much of what was the
known world. They amassed a power to rival and overtake the existing Chinese military and they
created an era of peace within China for 300 years. Maybe these people weren t so barbaric and
uncivilized after all.
In the year 1167 a boy was born who would change the outlook on the Mongols forever. He was
named Temuchin, but he is more commonly known today as Genghis Khan. For ... Show more content

He wanted to create a force large enough to attack and conquer the Chinese. In the year 1206,
Temuchin achieved the leadership position he had fought for, the people gave him the name Genghis
Khan which means great leader . Khan was an amazing military strategist, he used an assortment of
tricks, psychological warfare, and extraordinary organization to bring his enemies to their knees. A
quote from the History of the Mongols says that, They send a detachment of captives and men of other
nationalities who are fighting with them to meet the enemy head on, and some of the Tartars
(Mongols) may perhaps accompany them. Other columns of stronger men they dispatch far off to the

Animal Shelters In The United States
Approximately 6 to 8 million animals are handled by animal shelters in the U.S. each year. Even
though some are reclaimed or adopted, nearly 4 million unwanted dogs and cats are left with nowhere
to go. Animal shelters cannot humanely house and support all these animals until their natural deaths.
They would be forced to live in cramped cages or kennels for years, lonely and stressed, and other
animals would have to be turned away because there would be no room for them. Trying to build
enough animal shelters to keep up with the endless stream of homeless animals is like putting a
bandage on a gunshot wound. Turning unwanted animals loose to roam the streets is not a humane
option, either. If they don t starve, freeze, get hit by a car, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Euthanasia is sort of weird that way. I have seen totally objective (and even outright callous) pet
owners simply drop off their pet for euthanasia with no more respect or empathy than a robot. I have
never been able to understand this type of pet owner who seems to be saying When you re dead, you
re dead . Sort of like euthanasia is no big deal. However, they can still comfort or simply be with their
pet at the time of euthanasia; and yet for their own reasons they choose to separate themselves from
the final moments of their pet s life. Maybe we humans are so close to our pets that we somehow
project our own humanity and mortality into them and we actually see ourselves at our own last
moments. Do some pet owners act out how they think they would view their own passing? On the
other hand, I have witnessed seemingly strong, objective individuals that seem to be somewhat cold
and distant who completely fall apart at the time of their pet s passing. The theme to keep in mind,
then, as you contemplate how YOU will act at your pet s final moments is to remember that
euthanasia is a completely personal experience. You have to decide what is best for you and your pet. I
have had people actually say to me I am sorry, Doctor, but I don t know how to act right now . Most
people really have had no euthanasia guidelines to follow, had no firm ground on which to stand

The Value Of Filial Piety
Culture: I applied symbolic interactionism. As one of the oldest countries in the world, China dates
back to ten thousand years. With more than five thousand years of traditional culture, China has a
formal set of values, beliefs, customs, language, etc., which have been passed generations.
Confucianism is the most influential philosophy guiding Chinese people living in different centuries.
The Confucian based values including harmony, filial piety, and obligation help shape my personality.
The value of harmony: Confucianism emphasizes the importance of building harmonious relationships
with others to make the society stable (Kaplan). It means that in every relationship, people should
show benevolence, righteousness, loyalty, and humility. These values profoundly influence Chinese
people including my family members. Husband and wife, parents and children, and friend and friend
only maintain a harmonious relationship, they could make a stable society. The value of filial piety:
Chinese society is characterized by patriarchy and hierarchy. Elders make the most decisions.
Confucianism advocates people to show respect and compliance for elders. Most of the Chinese
people treat filial piety as the most important traditional value. It requires the younger generation to
follow the elders words without a doubt. If a kid disputes with his/her parents, he/she shows unrespect
for the parents. The value of obligation: Each personal has different social roles in different social

Database Management System ( Dbms )
2. What is a DBMS? Briefly describe the components of a DBMS.
Database Management System(DBMS) is a collection of interrelated data (database) and set of
programs to access and modify those data.
DBMS has several components. Each component has some specific task to perform. The Major
components DBMS are as follows,
Hardware
Without hardware it is not possible to implement DBMS. The main hardware is the computer used for
storing and accessing the data in database. Other hardware components used in DBMS are Storage
devices, I/O devices, and electromechanical devices which makes interface between user and the
database.
Software

Granting of authorization for data access iv. Routine maintenance
End Users
The real users who the application programs to interact with the database to perform different
operations stored in the database. Some of the operations are insertion, deletion, updating data in the
database, etc.
Query processor
It converts the user queries into series of low level instructions. The query processor has the following
components,
i. DDL interpreter:
It interprets DDL statements and records definitions in the data dictionary. ii. DML compiler:
It translates DML statements in the query language into an evaluation plan consisting of low level
instructions. iii. Query evaluation engine:
It executes low level instructions (query evaluation plan).
Data
Data is the most important component of the DBMS. The main purpose of DBMS is to process the
data in efficient and convenient way for the users. In DBMS, databases are defined, constructed,
modified , inserted and accessed from the database. There are two types of data in the DBMS. They
are
i. Meta data:
It is the data about data or description about data stored in the database. Data definition
language(DDL) is used to manipulate this type of data. ii. Actual data:
This is data actually stored in the database by the users. Data manipulation language(DML) is used to
manipulate this type of data.

The Road Death Camp Analysis
Quote Commentary I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in
January of 1950; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in
August of 1974 (3). Syntax: Writer divides the two births physically with a semicolon. First birth is
described with the weather (it was a clear day for an unclear birth identification significance?). Second
birth described by the place. That s me on page 578, standing naked beside a height chat with a black
box covering my eyes (3). Close Read: Description of character vulnerable (naked) and with eyes
covered (symbol or foreshadowing?); Narrator blind to own identity for 24 years theme? I left my

Outside Connection: Before and during World War II, many Jewish people tried to pass as Aryan in
order to avoid deportation to Ghettos and Death Camps. Like her I unravel my story, and the longer
the thread, the less there is left to tell (63). Diction: Unravel in the Princess s story meant in terms of a
ball of yarn or a spool of thread, unravel in these terms means to tell/describe a story. It s a double
entendre. (Why did they do it? Why did they go to all that trouble? Couldn t they have said they were
already engaged? Or that their marriage had been arranged years earlier? Yes, of course they could
have. But it wasn t the other travelers they were trying to fool, it was themselves.) (68). Syntax and
Diction: The short sentences show the turmoil that the narrator is currently in. The parenthesis are
there to indicate an aside, therefore, indicating the inner dialogue that the narrator is having with
himself. A series of rhetorical questions in those short sentences further proves the point of the
confused narrator. The night of my grandparents wedding, the sun set directly before the ship s bow,
pointing the way to New York

  • 7. Summary Of Go-Betweens And The Colonization Of Brazil In history, what often occurred was that influential individuals who occupied the middle ground during exploration were forgotten. These third party individuals are called go betweens and they helped Europeans connect with different cultural groups. The 16th century brought enormous change by the Portuguese to the indigenous groups who lived in Brazil. The colonization of Brazil owes its success to transactional, representational, and physical/biological go betweens. The book, Go betweens and the Colonization of Brazil, written by Alida Metcalf explores the roles of these go betweens and their impact. When the Portuguese first landed in Brazil it was by accident, they were aiming for India. The admiral Pedro Alvares Cabral anchored his ships off the coast and he remained in Brazil for only ten days. Cabral understood that they needed to proceed with caution because everything they did was based on what occurred when the Portuguese first went to Africa. Cabral understood the dangers of not having go betweens in a new land. Even though Cabral had many translators on his ships, they did not have anyone that were from Brazil. The translators were Africans or Afro Portuguese. This leads into the first type of go betweens mentioned in the book and it is transactional. The most easily recognized of the go betweens are the transactional. These go betweens were translators, negotiators, and cultural brokers. They had the power to shift their loyalties and create complex relationships. Cabral had brought two dozen criminal exiles on his journey and because they did not have any translators he left two criminals at their first stop. When the criminals were left, their job was to learn the Indian customs, language, and culture. This showed the long term interest that they had in Brazil. This laid the foundation for the creation of translators for future use. When criminals were left their job was to learn the Indian customs, which shows the long term interest they had. Many of the first transactional go betweens are unknown to historians because of being semiliterate and not writing about their experiences. By the middle of the 16th century, one group of go betweens that appeared were the Norman interpreters. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the recommendations are still being made in order to continually improve the family dynamics within the business. Then, as a long term solution, the rights of shareholders and responsibilities of the manager to shareholders should be put in writing in the form of policies and procedures. It might also be in the best interest of the business to create policies regarding dividend payments and liquidity because this appeared to be an issue also. The second issue that is occurring within the family is a combination of an established entitlement culture and the erosion of the entrepreneurial culture. These issues arise when family members have an unsustainable culture of consumption and are using the business as an ATM. This is entitlement culture was established when Francisco Sr. would grant every request for money, new houses, and trips. The entitlement culture continued when Francisco Jr. became CEO and began using company funds to purchase a luxury car, helicopter and a boat that were essential to his executive post. The recommendation for immediate action is to stop the granting of requests for family members, if it has not already. Also it is recommended that Francisco Jr. be directed to stop purchasing luxuries with company funds for his personal use. Long term recommendations to solve these issues include writing a family constitution that includes a guide to the family s relationship to wealth and the business. Another recommendation would be to create policies that describe a process for purchases using company funds, and what entities the funds can be used to purchase. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At eighteen you do not have all the skills needed to be an adult, most importantly the individual is not biologically ready. The individual is not mature enough to be considered biologically ready for adulthood. To have the maturity level if an adult, a person needs to understand the difference from right and wrong, can defend themselves appropriately, cannot let things get to them to make them mad or over react. Theories of personality were developed between different but related strands such as clinical, psychometric and experimental tradition; they looked at people behaviour to find out why individuals act and respond to stimuli differently in common situations (Butt, 2012). Behaviour, emotion and thought are the qualities that characterise each individual while he interacts with the social environment, i.e. the definition of what is understood by personality. As cited by Butt (2012) traits are relatively enduring ways in which an individual differs from another (Butt, 2012 p.46). Eysenck (1965) adopted a nomothetic approach, which classifies personality dimensions, to measure and describe the individual differences of personality. In Eysenck s and Ranchman (1964) approach, the science of personality was a means of clarifying psychiatric classification. Women are portrayed as weak characters with no voice. All of these poems are seen through the eyes of men, who accuse them of being self centred and lacking in morals. However, these judgements can be placed upon the men themselves. The social/historical position of women during the nineteenth century can be identified within the poems. Browning s dramatic monologues in particular show women s lack of voice and dependency on men during the eighteen hundreds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keats describes her, as a faerys child and later says in language strange she said I love thee true this implies her mythical quality which mystifies and captures the knight . The poem represents three characters the narrator, the knight and La belle dame. The story is told by the knight, but begins with opening questions from the narrator, o what can ail thee knight at arms, Alone and palely loitering? Keats portrays La belle dame in a negative light, as a character who distrusts and mistreats the knight. Perhaps this expresses keats feelings towards women, however he creates separate characters with different personalities. Although La belle dame is described as a beautiful mythical creature she uses the knight and leaves him to die. In the last three stanzas of the poem the knight describes the sight of dead men on the cold hill side who have also been enthralled by the faery s child . Her kind words and beauty tricked the knight along with the other men. The title La Belle Dame Sans Merci the beautiful women without mercy highlights this. With the creation of new technology, there are more and more ways the media can be received and displayed for people to see everywhere they go. There are so many media sights nowadays such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as new magazines, commercials and other media publications made every day that allow people to connect to current events and new trends. Although today s media has the potential to have a positive or negative impact on the lives of the people, there have been many controversial debates on the impact of the media on the body dissatisfaction of young girls and adolescents. Body dissatisfaction can be described as the negative self evaluation of one s own appearance and to be more physically attractive, and is fairly common in young girls and adolescents. Approximately one hundred studies of media effects on body dissatisfaction have been conducted with the majority of these showing at least some evidence, (Ferguson, Munoz, Contreras, Velasquez). Many psychological experts and specialists have explored the effect of the media on developing female girls and adolescent body image to conclude whether it has a significant or insignificant impact on the body image of female adolescents and young girls. In the current media, women are idealized as skinny, airbrushed, and flawless. The media has been harshly criticized for creating and perpetuating a cultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reward Management Essay Reward Management (RM) has been defined as the distribution of monetary and non monetary rewards to employees in an effort to align the interests of the employees, the organisation, and its shareholders (O Neil, 1998). In addition O Neil (1998) also suggests that a RM system can serve the purpose of attracting prospective job applicants, retaining valuable employees, motivating employees, ensuring legal requirements relating to direct and indirect rewards are not violated, assisting the company in achieving human resource and business objectives, and ultimately assisting the organisation in obtaining a competitive advantage. Similarly, Cascio (1991) suggests that the combination of the following five requirements along with a performance based pay system can also have a very significant impact on performance. The first of these is skill variety, where a wide variety of tasks or procedures is available to the employee. Next is task identity, where the employee can clearly identify the output of a task as a product of their efforts. This is followed by task significance, where the work is recognised as important and meaningful. After this comes autonomy, where the employees have a major say in work planning and execution. The final requirement is feedback, where employees receive constructive advice or criticism on their performance. The rewards offered can be extrinsic such as wages, incentives and bonuses, or intrinsic such as job satisfaction, an internal feeling of worth and a sense of well being on the job. O Neil (1998) suggests six minimal criteria for the design of a performance based pay system. The first of these criteria is that the reward system should be self funding, that is, the performance increases should as a minimum offset the cost of the rewards provided. The second criterion is that the distribution of the rewards must be consistent, fair and justifiable. In addition reward plans must be transparent and clearly communicated. The third criterion ... • 23. John Calvin on God s Divine Providence Essay John Calvin on God s Divine Providence In John Calvin s Institutes of the Christian Religion he spends a great deal of time expounding his doctrine of God s Divine providence in all of creation. He explains not only how God continually governs the laws of nature, but also how God governs man s actions and intentions to bring about His own Divine Will. Calvin believes that God s providence is so encompassing in creation that even a man s own actions, in many ways, are decreed by God. Because of this belief there arises the question, Does Calvin leave room for the free will of man? He believes that God s act of creation did not stop after He created man, but continues all throughout the past, present and future. Calvin not only believes that God cares for all of man and animals, but directs the weather and excersises His power over inanimate objects. Calvin even goes so far as to argue that the movement of the sun, moon, stars, and planets is continued by God s power and not by some energy that was given to them at the beginning of creation, which carnal sense would tell us (Calvin 197). He does not believe that God sits back and watches or allows things in nature to happen, but actually causes them to happen. For example, if there was a drought one summer it was caused by God, possibly part of His vengeance or wrath. Or, if the crops flourished the next summer it was also His plan. Likewise, let us say per chance (no pun intended) a man is walking along a mountain pass and some rocks fall and kill him. For Calvin this was not an accident, but a determination and the Will of God. Calvin s ideology of God s Providence in nature is summed up in this quote: And truly God claims, and would have us grant him, omnipotence not the empty, idle, and almost unconscious sort that the Sophists imagine, but a watchful, effective, active sort, engaged in ceaseless activity. Not, indeed, an omnipotence that is only a general principle of confused motion, as if he were to command a river to flow through its once appointed channels, but one that ... Closed Itemsets Mining Closed Itemset 2.4.1 A Closed Algorithm Mining closed itemset, initially proposed in [23] Pasquier et al .A close algorithm is a basic algorithm in frequent closed itemsets mining which is based on Apriori algorithm[25] in frequent item mining. A close operation is performed in the following two general steps: Producing frequent generators and achieving closure of frequent generators. For A close algorithm, an itemset p is generator of closed itemset y, if p is one of smallest itemsets (it may be more than one), and it determines y with Galois closure operator h(p)=y [26]. To produce generators, a level wise approach, similar to that of Apriori algorithm is taken. Then three steps of pruning are conducted on candidate generators, and useless generators are pruned thereby[26]. The operation of generator production is repeated until no other generator is produced. After producing generators G1 to Gn (n is maximum generator size), closure of all these frequent generators should be computed. The closure of all frequent generators results in all closed frequent itemsets. The technique for calculating closure as the next. The closure of generator p which is achieved by applying function h from Relation (3) on p, is intersection of all database transactions that include p . A close algorithm uses breath first search strategy for mining operation, and itemset lattice is analyzed in a bottom up way. Its weak point is the great number of candid items and passes from dataset, leading to much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This evolution is fostering changes in winemaking practices as well as in the conception of wine quality, which imply a departure from the traditions of the industry. Traditional winemaking practices and conceptions of good wine were institutionalised in the denomination of origin regulations. These regulations embed each wine within a geographical locus of production, implying a dependence of production on natural contingencies. On the contrary, the exploitation of emergent market opportunities requires a finer control of production. This caused the diffusion of methods of winemaking that allow stabilisation of the quality of wines across time (vintages) and space, loosening the tie between grape and geographical area. Much of this change in production practices has been

The first three verses begin by telling us that the Messiah will not have any splendor or attractiveness worthy of being noticed by others. He will be a normal looking man. Starting in verse three the description becomes worse. He is described as despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. The Jewish leaders expected to receive two people a man of sorrows and a conquering King. They did not expect one person could fulfill both descriptions by appearing on two occasions. While Christ was a man of sorrows, because He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows, it pleased the Lord to bruise him. Through Christ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Wes Anderson As An Auteur What exactly is an auteur? According to Graham Roberts and Heather Wallis, film s generic ideas produced creative conventions in cinema language which could then be exploited and developed by individual artists into a personal vision (127). That individual artist is the auteur; someone who, through their work, displays several key qualities that are uniquely their own, namely: reoccurring themes and plotlines throughout their movies; specific stylistic qualities in their films such as mise en scene and cinematography styles; similar character attributes and traits; and narrative structure and features (Roberts and Wallis 128). In The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Ned, whose mother has recently passed away, believes that Steve is his father. Even his stop motion film Fantastic Mr Fox (2009) was an adaptation of Roald Dahl s novel that surrounded a family of foxes. • 41. Why We Should Introduce Australia Principal, teachers, parents and friends welcome. Thank you for this opportunity to speak to you today. Are you all aware that there are over 7000 languages spoken in the world today? In recent years, Australian schools located in metropolitan area were just starting to introduce languages classes other than English, such as French, Chinese or Indonesia. So that student could choose any other languages that offer, as their second language. • 42. Wobbler Syndrome Summary Critique of Scientific Articled The article I reviewed discussed a study of the body shape and alignment in a breed of dogs called Great Danes. Some of the dogs had a disease called Cervical Spondylomyelopathy, commonly known as Wobbler Syndrome or CSM, and some of them were perfectly normal and healthy. The cause of this disease is unknown but many believe that it is a mix of large breed dogs having a large and heavy head and long neck which can cause irregular forces on the vertebrae of the neck. The study included 15 dogs with Wobblers and 15 dogs who had no clinical signs of wobblers. In the beginning stages, wobblers causes dogs to have a funny, wobbly walk in their back legs and they will seem extra clumsy. This study used MRI scans to determine that there were no distinct differences in dogs with Wobbler Syndrome verses those who are healthy. This finding disproved the original hypothesis that it is caused by a large head and long neck. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These were nomadic people who survived by herding animals who fed on grass, the only plants that grew there. The land and harsh environment taught these nomadic people to be harsh and do what was necessary The people of this land were viewed as uncivilized and barbaric by settled people. However, one such group ,known as the Mongols, soon conquered much of what was the known world. They amassed a power to rival and overtake the existing Chinese military and they created an era of peace within China for 300 years. Maybe these people weren t so barbaric and uncivilized after all. • 44. Animal Shelters In The United States Approximately 6 to 8 million animals are handled by animal shelters in the U.S. each year. Even though some are reclaimed or adopted, nearly 4 million unwanted dogs and cats are left with nowhere to go. Animal shelters cannot humanely house and support all these animals until their natural deaths. They would be forced to live in cramped cages or kennels for years, lonely and stressed, and other animals would have to be turned away because there would be no room for them. Trying to build enough animal shelters to keep up with the endless stream of homeless animals is like putting a bandage on a gunshot wound. However, they can still comfort or simply be with their pet at the time of euthanasia; and yet for their own reasons they choose to separate themselves from the final moments of their pet s life. Maybe we humans are so close to our pets that we somehow project our own humanity and mortality into them and we actually see ourselves at our own last moments. Do some pet owners act out how they think they would view their own passing? On the other hand, I have witnessed seemingly strong, objective individuals that seem to be somewhat cold and distant who completely fall apart at the time of their pet s passing. • 45. The Value Of Filial Piety Culture: I applied symbolic interactionism. As one of the oldest countries in the world, China dates back to ten thousand years. With more than five thousand years of traditional culture, China has a formal set of values, beliefs, customs, language, etc., which have been passed generations. Confucianism is the most influential philosophy guiding Chinese people living in different centuries. The Confucian based values including harmony, filial piety, and obligation help shape my personality. The value of harmony: Confucianism emphasizes the importance of building harmonious relationships with others to make the society stable (Kaplan). It means that in every relationship, people should show benevolence, righteousness, loyalty, and humility. These values profoundly influence Chinese people including my family members. Husband and wife, parents and children, and friend and friend only maintain a harmonious relationship, they could make a stable society. The value of filial piety: Chinese society is characterized by patriarchy and hierarchy. Elders make the most decisions. Confucianism advocates people to show respect and compliance for elders. Most of the Chinese people treat filial piety as the most important traditional value. It requires the younger generation to follow the elders words without a doubt. If a kid disputes with his/her parents, he/she shows unrespect for the parents. The value of obligation: Each personal has different social roles in different social ...
