Competitive Analysis of Keurig
Competitive analysis
In recent months many new single serve coffee brewers have come to market in the United States.
These new competitors are offering consumers many new choices and variations of a single serve
coffee brewers. In turn, this is stepping up pressure Keurig to keep up with its competitors and the
markets demand. The three competitors that pose the biggest threat to Keurig are Bunn s MyCafé unit,
Starbucks Verismo unit, and the Esio beverage system which is backed by Wal Mart.
In October Bunn, a leading commercial beverage equipment producer, launched its home version of
its single serve coffee machine called MyCafé. Unfortunately for Keurig, the MyCafé is the first to
capitalize on the expiration of Keurig s patent on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new Starbucks brewer will be a threat to competition.
Also in late October, about two thirds of U.S. Wal Mart stores started selling a machine made by Esio
Beverage Co that makes both hot and cold drinks called the Esio beverage system. This machine does
not use K Cups but uses its own version called e packs. The Esio is will be the biggest threat to date
for Keurig because the Esio will make good coffee but will be more than just a coffee machine,
(Geller) said Lyle Myers, the company s president . We have a system for every member of the family,
( Geller) Myers said. He also discusses that the machine can be used all day and, not just in the
morning (Geller). The Esio has licensing deals with Kraft Foods Group Inc, Campbell Soup Co and
Unilever Plc. Esio s will offer some unique drinks like Maxwell House hazelnut coffee, V8 Splash
juices, Diet Brisk iced teas, Country Time Lemonade and Crystal Light drinks.
Product strategy The Keurig coffee brewer is the leader in the retail market for single serves coffee
brewers but it can do better. Keurig has been slowly losing some of its share of the retail market in
recent years. In 2011 Keurig controlled 54 percent of the market which is down from its 2010 number
of 60 percent and 2009 number of 63 percent (Geller). Keurig needs to take its product and it has to
offer and enter into new markets and segments. It mainly needs to focus on the younger and lower
income level of its

I Have The Pleasure Of Volunteering My Service At Bilal...
Over the past semester, I have had the pleasure of volunteering my services to Bilal Oromo Dawa
Center in Fridley, Minnesota as a tutor and person of influence to children ages 6 18. Bilal Oromo
Dawa Center s (BODC) mission statement is as follows: Bilal Oromo Dawa Center is a charitable,
religious, social, cultural, educational nonprofit organization dedicated to serve the Muslim
community. As I have come to find out, BODC is a community center that offers many different
services for all its community members. The services range from tutoring services, weekend school
for Islamic studies, funeral services, Friday congregational prayers, family and marriage counseling,
youth sports, and general community services. BODC is a relatively new organization; however, they
stem from Tawfiq Islamic Center in North Minneapolis. Tawfiq Islamic Center (TIC) has been open to
the community since 2004 and is still open. TIC and BODC share a similar community member base
and actively cooperate to better the community.
I have been aware of TIC since it was opened on inaugural day and practically grew up in that facility
as I attended practically every event they have set up. I attended weekend school during my
adolescence, and I eventually became a teacher s assistant for the program. It would be an
understatement to say that I always felt indebted to the community for playing a large role in my
childhood. I continued to teach Arabic and Islamic studies there for a couple of years before

Ells Self Assessment
4.c.4. Prepare ELLs to use self and peer assessment techniques when appropriate. The artifacts reveal
the use of self assessments and peer assessment in a classroom environment. The use of self and peer
assessment allows the students to place responsibility upon themselves. This artifact is documentation
of a lesson taught during my two week internship in Alabaster City Schools. The internship was with
an ESL Summer Camp, pertaining to third grade students. This artifact portrays the ability of students
to self and peer assess during learning activities. Self assessment is more accurately defined as a
process by which students 1) monitor and evaluate the quality of their thinking and behavior when
learning and 2) identify strategies that improve their understanding and skills (McMillian and Hearn,
2008). This particular activity was part of a larger learning target. ... Show more content on

Synthesis And Testing Of Aa2014 Al2o3
Synthesis And Testing of AA2014 Al2O3(alpha) Nano Composite
Abstract Al2O3 reinforced Aluminium Matrix Composites give advanced mechanical physical
properties. They have voluminous applications in automobile, aerospace, defense, sports, electronics,
bio medical and other industrial fields. Various manufacturing techniques like stir casting, ultra sonic
assisted casting, compo casting, powder metallurgy, liquid infiltration are used for the production of
the aluminium matrix composites. These composites reveal advanced physical and mechanical
properties like lower density, low coefficient of thermal expansion, good corrosion resistance, high
tensile strength, high stiffness, high hardness and wear resistance. Our paper reviews the
characterization of mechanical properties like tensile strength, hardness with production route of
casting for aluminium matrix Al2O3 composites. Al2O3 agglomeration along with the increasing
volume percentage is still a challenging task in composites materials manufacturing. 0.5% by weight
of pure magnesium powder is used as wetting agent. Process parameters are optimized for the stir
casting process of aluminium composite. Tensile and hardness test microstructure study was
performed to find the deviation from the aluminium alloy.
Keywords: Agglomeration, stir casting, aluminium composite.
I. INTRODUCTION
The use of Aluminium alloys in aerospace and automobile industries are remarkable due to their low
density and good mechanical properties.

Teiresias, The Blind Seer In The Play Oedipus Rex
Teiresias, the blind seer, plays an important role in the play Oedipus Rex . He is kind, wise, a man of
truth, and easily angered. He reveals the major conflict in the play, and important aspects about
Oedipus s personality. In the play, the new king Oedipus attempts to find the murderer of the previous
king, Laius to rid his kingdom of a curse and help his people. He consults, Teiresias, the blind prophet,
who hesitantly tries to avoid giving Oedipus an answer. After Oedipus accuses the old man of being
the murderer, Teiresias angrily informs him that Oedipus himself murdered Laius. In disbelief,
Oedipus asks Teiresias to repeat himself. When Teiresias does, Oedipus threatens to punish him. The
enraged seer then adds that Oedipus commited vile acts with the people close to him, referring to how
Oedipus unknowingly married and had children with his biological mother. Oedipus, still doubting
Teiresias s words, blames his brother in law and uncle, Creon for plotting against him. Teiresias tells
Oedipus that Oedipus is blind to the situation and Creon didn t plot against him. Oedipus angrily tells
Teiresias to leave. As Teiresias turns away he tells him that he will soon realize what has happened,
insults Oedipus by questioning his ability to solve puzzles, and tells him that he does not fear Oedipus
punishing him for the things that he told him. Everything the blind prophet told the king turns out to
be true in the later scenes of the play. (Sophocles, 1.2) The text describes

Tim Hortons Essay
1 OUR MOTIVATION Tim Hortons has been a symbol of Canada and an important memory for
Canadians. We can understand what an important role Tim Hortons plays by following evidences. Ten
cups of coffee sold in Canada, nearly eight cups are from Tim Hortons. And each year, Tim Hortons
serves 2billion cups of coffee. Moreover, there are 15% of Canadians, which is more than 5.3 million
people, visiting Tim Hortons every day. But Taiwanese are unfamiliar with this famous brand
including us, so we are interested about this successful Canadian corporation and how it went global.

Considering the products they provided, Dunkin Donuts was the toughest and the only rival for Tim
Hortons. Since the market was not yet fully saturated, Tim Hortons did not have to compete with the
other food service which provided different category of foods. Despite the fact that Tim Hortons was a
late mover in the US market, it was reasonable that Tim Hortons believed that with the leading
position in Canada, it could expand its business to the US. 4.4 ENTRY MODE With Ron Joyce s
strategy, Tim Hortons expanded quickly in both geography and product selection. In 1981, it already
had successfully opened almost 150 outlets in Canada, and became the leading chain in Canada. It
even resulted in the major changes to the coffee and donut restaurant market in Canada. Tim Hortons
thus confidently believed that the expanding strategy could fit well even in the US market, where the
geographical distance was close and the culture seemed to be quite similar to that of Canada.
Moreover, most of the popular food service at that time entered a foreign market, especially from the
US to Canada, with a wholly owned subsidiary. Especially when Dunkin donuts and Mister Donuts
brought in the donut culture successfully and McDonald even became one of the leading food service
in Canada. Entry Time Entry Mode A W 1956 Wholly owned Subsidiary Mister Donuts 1961 Wholly

The History Of Germany
Day 1
By moving an army into Silesia, we gained their territory. Although they lack a supply center
Germany need their country to expand. They will fail as a world power we do not take over
surrounding vulnerable land. Our plan was that once we gained Silesia we would head east, to
Warsaw. This plan is now compromised due to Russia s invasion of Warsaw before we could get to it.
The Nation that I see as the largest threat is England. One of our outstanding spies (me) lied to
England and told them we were Austria Hungary. In result they asked for an alliance and told us their
entire plan about taking over Germany. England was going after our supply centers and they have
other nations that are in on the plan. That is why me and my fellow ... Show more content on

Day 2
Germany has advanced into Norway, If we keep our army there for the next spring turn we can
possibly gain control. We have managed to keep control of our own land although we did not gain
anything new. Our team decided we needed to keep a military force close to were austria hungary was
heading towards, Resulting in us moving our army to the south of the country and our second army
attacking.
The Nations that are our current enemies are Austria hungary. We see them as a threat because we
heard them conspiring against us. They are alliances with our other enemy, England so we are certain
they can not be trusted. If Austria Hungary send any opposing forces we will have no choice to give
them our entire attention.
Our strategy is to know how long to keep an alliance. We do not want to avoid gaining land due to our
alliances so we are keeping our options open. After Russia supports us in attacking Austria Hungary,
we will not need them for anything else. If we keep our country s best interest in mind and stop
worrying about treaties, we believe we can win.
The Alliances we have formed are a triple alliance including Turkey and Russia. We have both
countries willing to support us in our attacking against Austria hungary. Once they assist us in
attacking we can assist them in their attack against England. This benefit us because we know England
is after our supply centers. If this information

Charles Darwin s Theory Of Natural Selection
Over time, different species learn to adapt to their living environment in order to survive. If a genetic
change of a characteristic is passed down through generations, a formation of a new species occurs (G,
Linstead et. al., 2012). A variation to the characteristic of an individual can increase its survival and
this provides more opportunities to reproduce. When the individual reproduces, the offspring benefit
in result of the heritable genes and eventually through generations, the variants will be spread
throughout the entire population (Montgomery, 2009). Charles Darwin s theory of natural selection
can be supported through both fossils and homologous structures.
A technique that supports Charles Darwin s theory of natural selection is fossils. A fossil is the
remnant or imprint of a previous animal embedded in rock and preserved in petrified form (J, Castro,
2013). Fossils are used and are still important today as they demonstrate the different types of species
of animals and plants that were on the earth at various times in the past. This assists palaeontologists,
who study the fossils hominid, learn about the creatures that once lived on the earth. This includes the
human ancestors and their relatives, and how they have developed over time (G, Linstead et. al.,
2012). There are various ways in which fossils support Charles Darwin s theory of natural selection.
Fossils provide a way for palaeontologists to reconstruct the creatures, plants and humans of the past.

The Thing About Poaching Research Paper
The Thing About Poaching.
Half a century ago, White Rhinos used to roam the vast lands of South Africa. But for some reason,
the number of rhinos has dropped by a million. The answer to this cause is simple. Poaching.
Poaching has continued for many years and has caused a huge number of African animals to become
extinct. With only 25,000 rhinos left in the world, this huge situation should not only be recognized in
Africa, but should also be noticed all over the world.
During the last few centuries, the number of rhinos and elephants has declined dramatically and is still
decreasing rapidly. About 3 rhinos are killed each day. They are hunted down for their horns which are
used to make medicine and ivory carvings. Places like Vietnam and China tolerate poaching for its
medicine that supposedly cures cancer . With higher demands in Asia, prices have spiked; and so has
poaching. According to the Newsela article Rhinos will soon be extinct if poachers don t stop killing
them , in 2014 400 tons of ivory were extracted from elephants. Statistics have also stated that in
2013, 1,215 rhinos have died at the hands of poaching; and to this day, poaching is still growing. ...

In South Africa, authorities have been cracking down on poaching for many years. It is home to more
than half of the world s rhinos. Crime groups tend to take advantage of the poor law enforcement
there, resulting in an extensive amount of killings in countries like Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Introduced in Newsela, Poaching has also affected the inhabitants of South Africa as well . Due to
this, many poor, young men have turned to poaching in order to gain money to feed their families.
Even the smallest amount of money would cause survival to be possible. Although the government has
tried many new tactics to stop this problem, there is still very little change. We can t rely solely on the
authorities and policemen to hunt these poachers

Analysis Of Invisible Man
To be exiled means to be kept from one s native space or country. In the book, Invisible Man, The
nameless narrator started off bound for greatness and then as the novel continued he to be challenged
with obstacles as he discovered his true self. Through these obstacles he was pushed farther and
farther away from the places he learned to call home and had to forget everything he knew to survive.
As a young black men the narrator stayed very true to who he was and wished to be a very successful
scholar. He got a scholarship for an African American college and was lucky enough to be able to go;
however, halfway through his schooling due to power hungry and egotistical Dr. Bledsoe, the narrator
was expelled because he showed one of the school founders around dirtier parts of town. This college
was a place the narrator considered home and was exiled from it leaving him with only 50 dollars and
envelopes filled with false hope.
It is very easy to be taken over by fear and hopelessness when you are thrown from somewhere you
have spent the most recent parts of your life to a completely different area where you know nothing
and no one. Instead of holing up and showing his fear the narrator showed up to Harlem with a
positive mindset and portrayed himself as a man who knew what he planned on doing with his life
when he got there; however, he was just clinging to letter which held nothing but lies. He used his
expulsion to enter a new place as a very sophisticated young man and

Thermophysical Properties Of Nanofluids
Heat transfer fluids (HTFs) has diversified applications such as chemical processing, concentrated
solar power, HVAC system, pharmaceutical processing, plastics processing, system maintenance, and
geothermal plant, etc. Enhancing thermophysical properties of HTFs by dispersing nanoparticles on
the base fluid which is called nanofluids was first investigated by Choi [1], and nanofluids already
have shown heat transfer enhancement [2]. The concept of nanofluids can be applied for other HTFs.
Ionic liquids (ILs) based nanofluids where the base fluids are ionic liquids is potential candidate for

Paul et al. [10 11] experimentally investigated the forced and natural convection heat transfer behavior
of nanoparticle enhanced ionic liquids (NEILs). They stated that forced convection heat transfer

The enhancement of heat transfer coefficient under forced convection of water based nanofluids was
reported by other researchers, where experiments were carried out for Al2O3 water nanofluids at

Raising Driving Age
Teens have been a part of many accidents. They have caused many people to die. Would it be better to
raise the age or let them get a licensed to be able to drive?
Raising the age should help teens not commit car accidents. In 1995 through 2004 there was 30,917
fatalities in accidents involved 15 to 17 year olds, according to a study by the AAA Foundation for
Traffic Safety. A third of those fatalities were teens themselves. The others were pedestrians,
passengers, and people in cars that got hit. Raising the driving age may seem burdensome to parents

Christian Worldview And The Secular Worldview Of Account
To compare the Christian worldview to the secular worldview of account, one must understand the
definition of what a worldview is and what a Christian worldview looks like as well as what a secular
worldview looks. According to Valk (2012), Worldviews are those larger pictures that inform and in
turn form our perceptions of reality. They are visions of life as well as ways of life, are individual and
personal, yet bind adherents together communally (p. 1). It is not uncommon for individuals to have
different worldviews because the meaning of the word is a set of beliefs one uses to understand the
world. All people grow up viewing the world differently because to the different things they
experience in their lives. A worldview defines the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here the only thing that matters is a man. Within secular philosophy individuals only trust the
scientific method to know anything. So basically, if something can t be observed, tested, or
experimented, then it does not exist. This is why there is no room for spirituality because it can t be
tested, so that means it does not exist. Secular ethics are based on what humans decide as far as
standards and values. Humans depend on science, reason, and a historical experience to figure out
what is right and what is wrong. It s tricky because standards will not be the same for everyone
because everyone has a different background and reason. There are different views within secular
science, psychology, sociology, law, politics, economics, and history which are all based on man and
mans perspective. Overall secular humanist view everything from the standpoint of what is seen and
what can be known the senses. Hitchcock (1994) stated the following: The ultimate failure of Secular
Humanism is in the fact that of its very nature is promises what it cannot fulfill. By encouraging
people to put their trust in earthly happiness, it programs them for disillusionment. This is in no small
measure the reason why the history of the modern world has been characterized, intellectually, by
philosophies of pessimism like Existentialism and by often rancorous bitterness over various plans for
worldly improvement. In the twentieth century, mass slaughter has been perpetrated not

Analysis Of The Documentary Blackfish Essay
Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite in the documentary, Blackfish (2013), argues that captivity triggers
aggression in killer whales. Cowperthwaite supports her argument by demonstrating shocking footage
and emotional interviews to present a convincing case against keeping these animals in captivity and
for human entertainment. The author s purpose is to show the problems that are caused by captivity in
order to aware the audience that keeping killer whales in captivity affects their behavior mentally and
physically. The author writes in resentful tone to Sea World, the people who visited Sea World, and
those who were present during the killer whale incident. Gabriela Cowperthwaite argues that keeping
killer whales in captivity at SeaWorld affects their mentality due to how they are being treated. She
makes this argument by applying pathos, ethos, and logos. In beginning of the film, the appeal to
pathos affects the audience as we listen to what these former trainers have to say about how they
became interested in the job and what made them realize that a trainer was what they wanted to be. As
a little kid each of these trainers were inspired by commercials, TV channels, and visiting SeaWorld

where and how these killer whales were captured. According to the SeaWorld of Hurt website, Dr.

The Giant Panda Paradigm Essay
The Giant Panda Paradigm
The Giant Panda is a creature of mystery. Adults and children alike appreciate it for its cute, fuzzy,
lovable qualities, but it is an animal that is in desperate need of immediate attention. Scientists know
the basics: how and what they eat, where and how they live, and how they reproduce. The fact
remains, however, that this universally loved national symbol of China is facing the threat of
extinction. What accounts for this fact and what can be or is being done to protect the panda from such
a fate? This paper will discuss the characteristics and lifestyle of the panda as well as issues and
questions that arise as a result of the threat of their extinction.

Pandas have inefficient digestive systems, and must therefore spend more than ten hours a day eating
the amount of food needed for necessary nutrients ((1)). While their dental structures have adapted to
the bamboo diet their digestive systems remain closer to those of carnivores ((6)). This results in a low
percentage of food digestion in comparison to the amount that it actually ingests ((6)).
The Giant Panda is currently threatened in a number of ways. The first threats are to their food
sources. The Bamboo Rat is a minor, but existent problem that feeds on bamboo roots, killing plants
on an individual level ((6)). Bamboo also undergoes phases of growing and then dying as part of the
renewal cycle ((7)). This process is not a problem in itself, except for the fact that whereas the pandas

the panda and its habitat ((3)). Efforts to set up reserves for the pandas have sparked conflicts with

Shirley Heath s What No Bedtime Stories
An individual s interaction with their physical and social environment can have profound influences
on the development and the long term effects of the individual particularly in terms of language
comprehension and usage. Within different environments, the understanding and utilization of
language will be differing based on the circumstances. In Shirley Heath s study, What no bedtime
story means: Narrative skills at home and school, Heath discusses on how interactions between the
parent and child through the avenue of bedtime stories promotes significant development in the
communication, language, literacy, and narratives of the child. Heath focuses on how three literate

From the bedtime storytelling event, the child learns the concept of initiation reply evaluation

background of reading comprehension at a early age that allows for them to be school successful
individuals (Heath, 1982, p 54). The children are educated in mainstream habits and values of
linguistics because their families have the resources to provide that for them. The community of
Trackton is a working class black community that places a high value on education; however, the
children are unsuccessful in school. In Trackton, the adults do not educate the children in extracting
lessons from books to ways of relating that knowledge to other aspects of the environment (Heath,

Similarities Between Tell Me A Riddle And The Rocking...
Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner are similar stories as they both focus primarily on
the lives and hardships of the mothers and their eldest children in the story. Tillie Olsen s story Tell
Me A Riddle can be compared to DH Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner with similarities in
theme. Both Olsen and Lawrence focus on the theme of neglect and abandonment driven by the lack
of attention the eldest children receive from their mothers. However Olsen addresses this theme
through symbolism whereas Lawrence uses personification. The new idea that is revealed about
neglect and abandonment through the analysis is that it can be both intentional and unintentional and
can be interpreted differently by different characters.
In both Tell Me A Riddle and The Rocking Horse Winner Olsen and Lawrence use the theme of
neglect and abandonment to describe the relationship between the eldest children in the story and their
mothers. For example in Tell Me A Riddle Emily feels abandoned by her mother after the birth of her
sister. This is because her mother could no longer care for Emily which led her to send Emily to the
convasalent home. It states I used to try to hold and love her after she came back, but her body would
stay stiff, and after a while she would push away (Olsen,4). At this point Emily is separated from her
family for eight months, not being able to hold on to personal belongings that remind and connect her
to them. Emily feelings of abandonment is evident here as

Characteristics Of Somerset Maugham s Writing Style
William Somerset Maugham was considered to be the popular English fiction writer of the 20th
century. He wrote many novels, plays and short stories, many of those were admired as master pieces.
It drew attention of the critics and readers due to its multi dimensional aspects, which offered
entertainment including the serious issues of human life, for that matter it resulted in being popular
fiction of the time.
His popularity urged many critics to analyze his work from different dimensions. The critics discussed
his works with the advantage to explore the qualities of writer as well as to point out the flaws of his
work. The critics discovered many themes along with stylistic features of his novels in plays and short
stories. Maugham has produced a large number of fictional works and it seems impossible to bring in
all the reviews of his works. The literature review is generally based on critic s opinion on his writing
style and themes; it particularly talks about those critiques ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The simplicity as a common trait in all of his works, had influence on his readers and critics.
Swinnerton admires him as a true story teller due to his plain and modest writing style. Maugham
wrote for the writing s sake, he neither interfered in political matters nor he struggled to be the
guardian of society (19). Jack Collins examined similar characteristic in Maugham s style. He justifies
popularity of Maugham as a writer by providing two reasons: firstly, he has the capability to create a
plot which is direct, it goes on with linear clarity that no one can find obscurity in the plot. Secondly,
his quality to develop the dramatic intensity has remarkable effects on the story that it turns the
characters into demonic forces (16). This intensity in his works attracts the readers to pay honest
attention while reading. His works are the satisfaction of those people who like to get on with the story

Exposure and Behavoiral Therapies
Final Essay
Exposure and Behavioral Therapies
December 12, 2006
In psychotherapy there are many different ways that a therapist can decide how to treat a client. In my
paper I will discuss how Exposure Therapy and Behavioral Therapy work together with a client. I will
focus on the nature of the problem, the process of change, theory in practice, multicultural
considerations, and the types of clients and clinical problems.
The Nature of the Problem: In both Exposure and Behavioral Therapy the main focus is on anxiety.
These anxieties area conditioned response (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.238 264). In Exposure
Therapy and Behavioral Therapy the client avoids situation where there will be confrontation or fear
where it could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Multicultural Considerations: Cultural differences may see exposure therapy as worse than the
disorder (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.252). Therapist should show empathy with clients instead of
using terrifying visualization scenes for the client to deal with. In Exposure therapy the therapist s
empathy is used as a more freighting scene. Trauma victims in search of sensitivity, support, and
empowerment are provided more, higher decibel pain. When there is no empathic and caring
relationship between clinician and client, psychotherapy, is not worth doing (Prochaska Norcross,
2005, p. 252). In these therapies the therapist focuses on the behavior or feared stimulus, rather than
deal with feels as much. Feelings of anxiety will be talked about while the client is going through the
process of visualization, and at the end of the visualization to rate where their anxiety is. Strengths
include a collaborative relationship between therapist and client in working toward mutually agreed
upon goals, continual assessment to determine if the techniques are suited to clients unique situation,
assisting clients in learning practical skills, an educational focus, and stress on self management
strategies (Corey. 2005, p.485). With the client and therapist on the same page about how to work
through the anxiety they can determine together would be more productive and helpful for the client.
The therapist also needs to help the client with consequences

Speed Limits Of The Transport Industry
Speed limit in the transport industry is not a new phenomenon, and they are laws and by laws that
limit the speed of vehicles at a specific stretch of roads. Majority of countries around the world have
speed limits on all roads or on specific roads. Moreover, majority of the speed limit rules apply in
populous areas such as urban centers and residential areas. Other speed limits might also apply in
some regions with higher population of animals along the roads. Road signs are used to indicate speed
limits. In some cases, the speed limit law or by laws is not strict (Lund, 2007). There are many reasons
why speed limits can be necessary in Halifax region, and there are many reasons why it makes sense
to implement speed limits is because they have worked in other cities and nations. Otherwise, the most
important impact is the significant reduction in road accident as a result of speed limits. Speed limits
have existed since the steam engine error in the 19th century where the United Kingdom set the
maximum speed at 10 kilometers per hour. However, it is important to note that the reasoning behind
the speed limit could have been different from the modern speed limits reasoning. In the 19th century,
technology advancement in the transport industry was at infant stages, therefore, the lawmaker could
not image a huge machine traveling at a relatively high speed. This means that a speed of 10 kilometer
per hour could be a low speed when modern technology is considered, but could be

euro per yen (€/¥) is the price at which the bank will sell yen for euros. The bank would want this to
be the same as the price at which it sells euros for dollars (the bank s ask price) times the price at
which it sells dollars for yen. This latter price is the reciprocal of the price at which the bank buys
dollars for yen, which is the bank s bid price of yen per dollar. Thus, the ask price of euros per yen

Racial Tension In To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee portrays conflict and racial tension in the south in a small
community known as Maycomb. The town is examined by viewing each individual s morals and
ethics that either creates drama in the town or counts as an ethically correct lesson towards the people.
This is evident within the two children known as Scout and Jem., where their character develops and
changes drastically throughout the story due to crucial and vital lessons that not only mature them but
open them up to new perspectives, maturity and show them how courage can take many forms. The
first segment of the TKAM revolves around Boo radley, a mysterious figure that the children portray

As many would say that Atticus is courageous by striving to do the right thing, others like Jem and
Scout, during the first segment of the book, would see their father as an uncourageous and inactive
hero. As children, their view is varied and restricted due to the fact that Scout and Jem criticise Atticus
ability to play sports. They constantly complain about his ability to football and his lawyering skills.
They do not appreciate the courage and risk he is taking by defending an African American and doing
the right thing. Perhaps in a child s perspective, courage is seen when he shoots the dog with a rifle.
However, as they later on see that courage can take many forms like Ms. Dubose s morphine addiction
and how Atticus takes the leap of faith by choosing to do the right thing and protect Tom Robinson.
This resonates with Jem because he sees his father s Lawyering abilities and how he is using the for
the good of Maycomb. One can tell that Jem has a lot of hope in him and as if Atticus might actually
win the case. However, as realistic and compelling as the evidence might seem, Jem is unaware of the
racist adult society of maycomb. Nevertheless, by using his father s morals and the evidence he was
shown in the court. Jem finally comes to a realization that pure racism is affecting the views and

What Is The Impact Of The Caste System On Indian Society
The caste system is a social system developed in India. It has a great effect of Indian society
throughout the Indian history. This essay is going to introduce you about the caste system by telling
you how the caste system works, where did it come from, and how does it influence Indian society.
First, its how the caste system works. It divides people ranks; from high to low are Brahmins,
Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudra. Beside these general ranks there are also untouchables which are
outside the system. The untouchables are the lowest in the society, usually made up of slaves or war
prisoners. Your rank also influences which work you are doing. The higher the rank is the better the
work is. Brahmins are the ruling class, people in this rank are usually are spiritual leaders. Kshatriyas
are usually warriors and nobles; they made up the military class. Vaishyas are people like merchants
and producers, they are the people we usually call the middle class today. The laborers are usually
consisting of Shudras, their rank is so low that they are prohibited from the study of sacred literature
call Vedas . The untouchables do the jobs that nobody wants to do, and for most of the times all the
dirty works like cleaning up or deal with waste. People are only allowed to do the jobs that are
allowed in their rank, if they do the wrong job, the will be punished and sometimes been killed. The
communications between ranks are also limited. Usually the higher ranks are not allowed to

Why It Is Important To Become An Organ Donor
Organ donation: a person with healthy organs and tissues allows for them to be transplanted to those
in need, usually after death. Being an organ donor can be as simple as filling out an information card
on the back of your driver s license. It is easy to do and is a very selfless and caring thing to commit
to. Organ donation is a simple, yet amazing act.
Every day, people in need of vital organs die due to lung failure, heart failure, liver failure, kidney
failure, and other illnesses. In fact, over 120,000 people in the United States are in need of vital organ
transplants. Every day twenty two people on that list die. Every ten minutes, another person is added
to the list. Each year there are more than one million people waiting for life improving tissues and

The cause of death is actually what determines if organ donation is an option. Most people who
actually become organ donors suffer fatal head injuries, either from something like a car accident or a

save him or her, organ donation is finally brought into the picture. After death has occurred an
examination of the potential donor s physical and historical status is conducted. In this examination, a
physician examines the current physical state of the potential donor. For example, if the individual s
cause of death damaged certain organs, then those organs would be ruled out. The medical history of
the potential donor is also examined. For example, the individual being a smoker would determine
them ineligible. If everything checks out the potential recipients are examined to determine if the
operation can be

ABSTRACT
Background: With the incidence and the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) increasing
worldwide and its economic repercussions, a detailed haematological workup of such patients is
necessary to detect the type of anaemia, as there is a general tendency to consider anaemia to be of the
normocytic normochromic type. However in India, a co existing iron deficiency is also common.

Materials and Methods: This observational study included 100 patients of chronic kidney disease, who
were included, irrespective of their age, sex, aetiology and their clinical profiles. A thorough clinical
examination and evaluation were conducted, which included serum iron studies. By using Chi square
analysis, the parameters which were used for a statistical correlation were the levels of anaemia with
respect to the stages of the kidney disease, the type and the severity of anaemia, thrombocytopaenia
with the bleeding time, leucocytosis and elevated ESR values.
Results: Although most of the anaemia was of the normocytic type, nearly a third of the patients had
microcytic hypochromic and a mixed type of anaemia. Those with a microcytic hypochromic picture
correlated with a severe degree of anaemia. The elevated Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) levels
were more distributed in the lower levels of the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR). There was no
association between the platelet levels and the bleeding time. The leucocytosis was not necessarily
associated with infections.
Conclusions: It is pertinent to detect and treat subclinical iron deficiency in patients with CKD and to
not over investigate the minor haematological variations.

The most famous defamation case, which still sets precedent in today s cases, is New York Times v.
Sullivan (1964). New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) is the leading case on the question of defamation
liability for media defendants. The case, heard before the Supreme Court, declared that public officials
and figures could not recover for an alleged defamation unless they can prove both that the statement
was false, and was made with actual malice. This decision prevents the news media from reporting on
false or slanderous stories. It protects the country s public icons seeing they are almost always in the
spotlight. In addition to defamation hindering media, obscenity and pornography on the net have
placed limitations on what some websites may provide in terms of content.
Under Miller v. California (1973) in order for material to be found obscene by a court of law, the
material must appeal to the prurient interest, as judged against local community standards. The
material must also depict or describe sexual conduct (as defined by applicable state law) in a patently

standards apply equally in the context of the Internet as they do in ordinary books and magazines.

The Importance Of Birth Order And Its Effect On Leadership
Introduction
Some people have always assumed that the oldest child is a natural leader. In that same fashion, some
people feel the youngest child most often grows up a follower and remains a follower in adulthood.
There s some research to support these assumptions that birth order can determine how one leads. This
paper will examine the importance of birth order and its effect on leadership.
So, what is birth order? The term birth order refers to the rank of siblings by age. Birth order is
believed to have significant and lasting psychological effects on an individual. The effects of birth
order on the overall development of a person have continued to have an existence in both personal and
professional life. What is personality? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the second child, the parents tend to be less attentive thus leading the child be more of a people
pleaser and diplomatic (Connor, 2007) thus creating a follower style type. The last born child is
thought as rebellious and displays a spoiled attitude not typically a leadership trait. As the family size
increases, the parental resources are divided more sparsely among all children. Many factors such as
birth order, siblings, genes and circumstances all unquestionably play a greater role in the
development of a child s personality (Healey, 2007) thus impacting the type of leader displayed.
According to Healey (2007), parents get excited about their first born child and tend to be
overprotective, pay more attention, investments and high expectations on the child. It is
understandable that parents may be able to expend more resources on the first born, especially in
smaller families if there is a gap between the other siblings. Gordman s research (2008) supports the
previously mentioned statements by showing the effect birth order has on educational attainment.
Gordman (2008) confirms Grinberg s (2015) statements regarding the possibility that more resources
are reserved for the first born. This research further proves that the first born has better resources and
informal support to help increase the chances of being successful. For this paper, success is

How Do Tax Laws Affect Young Americans
It sounds morbid, but the truth is there are two things in life that are certain, Death and Tax. In fact,
many before us have died for the right to be heard on many subjects, especially taxation. The old
adage, Taxation without Representation is still prevalent in today s society, especially when dealing

the voting age since the youth grow up and then gain the ability to vote. Additionally, some have
challenged that young Americans have no understanding of the issues and cannot make an intelligent
decision. Yet how many adults understand or care about these issues and make a mature decision when
voting.
However, the youth can provide insight on many issues and concern, but they have no voice and no
representation. The Young Americans must stand up for themselves, just as the generations did before
us. Let us face it, taxation without representation is alive and well in the 21st Century. The only way to
be heard is to stand up for the right to have a

Pastors Brokenness
What marks most pastors who come to our ministry is their brokenness. In every case, pastors
resigning from their church are broken, beaten, and discouraged. Pastorless churches are a paradoxical
development in the United States. While plenty of clergy abound in the US, fifteen hundred pastors
leave the ministry each month due to moral failure, spiritual burnout, or contention in their churches.
Their stories, along with my own experiences in the pastorate, attest to several common traits among
pastorless churches. Churches who struggle to keep pastors possess similar characteristics and cultures
within their congregations. Here are ten observations:
Clergy Competence. For various reasons, a point is reached when a pastor simply is no longer
competent to hold this most trusted position in the church. Often, it is a matter of disqualification due

Many churches suffer from too few families controlling the life of the church. One of my members
once said, It s hard to get in here, but once you re in you re in. To which I replied, And the Spirit of
God weeps.
Competing Boards. Another pastor shared the plight of his church. Within the church existed an elder
board of eight members and a deacon board of eight members. The church barely averaged 300 people
in attendance. For years these two boards refused to communicate, cooperate, or coordinate. Any
wonder their church chewed through six pastors in ten years?
Consumed Clergy. Most pastors are just plain worn out. In a recent survey 802 or 71% of pastors
surveyed stated they were burned out, battle depression, and feel fatigue on a daily basis. Pastors
usually keep 60 hour work weeks, are on call at all times, are required to perform multiple tasks
beyond their ability, and put up with a host of abuses from members claiming to be Christians. Once I
took a two week vacation. Upon returning from vacation, several members accused me of looking for
another church to pastor during my

Suresh V Canada Case Summary
Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution.
Through out the world and over the centuries, societies have welcomed frightened, weary strangers,
the victims of persecution and violence. This humanitarian tradition of offering sanctuary is often now
played on the television screens across the globe as war and large scale persecution produce millions
of refugees and internally displaced persons. At the start of 21st century, protecting refugees means
maintaining solidarity with the worlds most threatened, while finding answers tot eh challenges
confronting the international system that was created to do just that.
Securing refugees is fundamentally the duty of States. All through its 50 year history, ... Show more

In the famous case of Suresh v Canada, Suresh was a Sri Lankan born Tamil. He first came to Canada
in the year 1990 and made a refugee claim based on fear of persecution by the Sri Lankan
government. He was also the supporter of the Tamil tigers (a listed terrorist organization) and had
done some fundraising for them in the past. Minister of immigration filed a certificate under s.40.1 of
the immigration act saying that Suresh was inadmissible to Canada on security grounds. Suresh was
confined the next day. The certificate was mentioned to the Federal Court for determination of
whether it was rational, and the court approve the Ministers decision. He was given a deportation
hearing, and the board held that while Suresh was not straightforward involved in terrorism, his
membership in a terrorist group was adequate grounds for extradition. Under s. 53(1)(b), the Minister
gave notice to Suresh that she was considering issuing an judgement that she well thought out him to
be a danger to the safety of Canada, which would permit the Minister to extradite him despite the risk
of torture. Accordingly, Suresh submitted composed and narrative proof on this theme. A migration
officer, Gautier, considered Suresh s entries, and found that permitting Suresh to stay in Canada would
run counter to Canada s duties to battle against

  • 2. Competitive Analysis of Keurig Competitive analysis In recent months many new single serve coffee brewers have come to market in the United States. These new competitors are offering consumers many new choices and variations of a single serve coffee brewers. In turn, this is stepping up pressure Keurig to keep up with its competitors and the markets demand. The three competitors that pose the biggest threat to Keurig are Bunn s MyCafé unit, Starbucks Verismo unit, and the Esio beverage system which is backed by Wal Mart. In October Bunn, a leading commercial beverage equipment producer, launched its home version of its single serve coffee machine called MyCafé. The new Starbucks brewer will be a threat to competition. Also in late October, about two thirds of U.S. Wal Mart stores started selling a machine made by Esio Beverage Co that makes both hot and cold drinks called the Esio beverage system. This machine does not use K Cups but uses its own version called e packs. The Esio is will be the biggest threat to date for Keurig because the Esio will make good coffee but will be more than just a coffee machine, (Geller) said Lyle Myers, the company s president . We have a system for every member of the family, ( Geller) Myers said. He also discusses that the machine can be used all day and, not just in the morning (Geller). The Esio has licensing deals with Kraft Foods Group Inc, Campbell Soup Co and Unilever Plc. Esio s will offer some unique drinks like Maxwell House hazelnut coffee, V8 Splash juices, Diet Brisk iced teas, Country Time Lemonade and Crystal Light drinks. Product strategy The Keurig coffee brewer is the leader in the retail market for single serves coffee brewers but it can do better. Keurig has been slowly losing some of its share of the retail market in recent years. In 2011 Keurig controlled 54 percent of the market which is down from its 2010 number of 60 percent and 2009 number of 63 percent (Geller). Keurig needs to take its product and it has to offer and enter into new markets and segments. It mainly needs to focus on the younger and lower income level of its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

BODC is a relatively new organization; however, they stem from Tawfiq Islamic Center in North Minneapolis. Tawfiq Islamic Center (TIC) has been open to the community since 2004 and is still open. TIC and BODC share a similar community member base and actively cooperate to better the community. I have been aware of TIC since it was opened on inaugural day and practically grew up in that facility as I attended practically every event they have set up. I attended weekend school during my adolescence, and I eventually became a teacher s assistant for the program. It would be an understatement to say that I always felt indebted to the community for playing a large role in my childhood. The artifacts reveal the use of self assessments and peer assessment in a classroom environment. The use of self and peer assessment allows the students to place responsibility upon themselves. This artifact is documentation of a lesson taught during my two week internship in Alabaster City Schools. The internship was with an ESL Summer Camp, pertaining to third grade students. This artifact portrays the ability of students to self and peer assess during learning activities. Self assessment is more accurately defined as a process by which students 1) monitor and evaluate the quality of their thinking and behavior when learning and 2) identify strategies that improve their understanding and skills (McMillian and Hearn, 2008). • 6. Teiresias, The Blind Seer In The Play Oedipus Rex Teiresias, the blind seer, plays an important role in the play Oedipus Rex . He is kind, wise, a man of truth, and easily angered. He reveals the major conflict in the play, and important aspects about Oedipus s personality. In the play, the new king Oedipus attempts to find the murderer of the previous king, Laius to rid his kingdom of a curse and help his people. He consults, Teiresias, the blind prophet, who hesitantly tries to avoid giving Oedipus an answer. After Oedipus accuses the old man of being the murderer, Teiresias angrily informs him that Oedipus himself murdered Laius. In disbelief, Oedipus asks Teiresias to repeat himself. When Teiresias does, Oedipus threatens to punish him. The enraged seer then adds that Oedipus commited vile acts with the people close to him, referring to how Oedipus unknowingly married and had children with his biological mother. Oedipus, still doubting Teiresias s words, blames his brother in law and uncle, Creon for plotting against him. Teiresias tells Oedipus that Oedipus is blind to the situation and Creon didn t plot against him. Oedipus angrily tells Teiresias to leave. As Teiresias turns away he tells him that he will soon realize what has happened, insults Oedipus by questioning his ability to solve puzzles, and tells him that he does not fear Oedipus punishing him for the things that he told him. Everything the blind prophet told the king turns out to be true in the later scenes of the play. (Sophocles, 1.2) The text describes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Charles Darwin s Theory Of Natural Selection Over time, different species learn to adapt to their living environment in order to survive. If a genetic change of a characteristic is passed down through generations, a formation of a new species occurs (G, Linstead et. al., 2012). A variation to the characteristic of an individual can increase its survival and this provides more opportunities to reproduce. When the individual reproduces, the offspring benefit in result of the heritable genes and eventually through generations, the variants will be spread throughout the entire population (Montgomery, 2009). Charles Darwin s theory of natural selection can be supported through both fossils and homologous structures. A technique that supports Charles Darwin s theory of natural selection is fossils. A fossil is the remnant or imprint of a previous animal embedded in rock and preserved in petrified form (J, Castro, 2013). Fossils are used and are still important today as they demonstrate the different types of species of animals and plants that were on the earth at various times in the past. This assists palaeontologists, who study the fossils hominid, learn about the creatures that once lived on the earth. This includes the human ancestors and their relatives, and how they have developed over time (G, Linstead et. al., 2012). But for some reason, the number of rhinos has dropped by a million. The answer to this cause is simple. Poaching. Poaching has continued for many years and has caused a huge number of African animals to become extinct. With only 25,000 rhinos left in the world, this huge situation should not only be recognized in Africa, but should also be noticed all over the world. During the last few centuries, the number of rhinos and elephants has declined dramatically and is still decreasing rapidly. About 3 rhinos are killed each day. They are hunted down for their horns which are used to make medicine and ivory carvings. Places like Vietnam and China tolerate poaching for its medicine that supposedly cures cancer . With higher demands in Asia, prices have spiked; and so has poaching. According to the Newsela article Rhinos will soon be extinct if poachers don t stop killing them , in 2014 400 tons of ivory were extracted from elephants. Exposure and Behavoiral Therapies Final Essay Exposure and Behavioral Therapies December 12, 2006 In psychotherapy there are many different ways that a therapist can decide how to treat a client. In my paper I will discuss how Exposure Therapy and Behavioral Therapy work together with a client. I will focus on the nature of the problem, the process of change, theory in practice, multicultural considerations, and the types of clients and clinical problems. The Nature of the Problem: In both Exposure and Behavioral Therapy the main focus is on anxiety. These anxieties area conditioned response (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.238 264). Multicultural Considerations: Cultural differences may see exposure therapy as worse than the disorder (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.252). Therapist should show empathy with clients instead of using terrifying visualization scenes for the client to deal with. In Exposure therapy the therapist s empathy is used as a more freighting scene. Trauma victims in search of sensitivity, support, and empowerment are provided more, higher decibel pain. When there is no empathic and caring relationship between clinician and client, psychotherapy, is not worth doing (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p. 252). In these therapies the therapist focuses on the behavior or feared stimulus, rather than deal with feels as much. Feelings of anxiety will be talked about while the client is going through the process of visualization, and at the end of the visualization to rate where their anxiety is. Strengths include a collaborative relationship between therapist and client in working toward mutually agreed upon goals, continual assessment to determine if the techniques are suited to clients unique situation, assisting clients in learning practical skills, an educational focus, and stress on self management strategies (Corey. 2005, p.485). • 25. Speed Limits Of The Transport Industry Speed limit in the transport industry is not a new phenomenon, and they are laws and by laws that limit the speed of vehicles at a specific stretch of roads. Majority of countries around the world have speed limits on all roads or on specific roads. Moreover, majority of the speed limit rules apply in populous areas such as urban centers and residential areas. Other speed limits might also apply in some regions with higher population of animals along the roads. Road signs are used to indicate speed limits. In some cases, the speed limit law or by laws is not strict (Lund, 2007). There are many reasons why speed limits can be necessary in Halifax region, and there are many reasons why it makes sense to implement speed limits is because they have worked in other cities and nations. Otherwise, the most important impact is the significant reduction in road accident as a result of speed limits. Speed limits have existed since the steam engine error in the 19th century where the United Kingdom set the maximum speed at 10 kilometers per hour. However, it is important to note that the reasoning behind the speed limit could have been different from the modern speed limits reasoning. In the 19th century, technology advancement in the transport industry was at infant stages, therefore, the lawmaker could not image a huge machine traveling at a relatively high speed. This means that a speed of 10 kilometer per hour could be a low speed when modern technology is considered, but could be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What would be Deutsche Bank s direct asking price for yen (€/¥)? Answer: The direct asking price of euro per yen (€/¥) is the price at which the bank will sell yen for euros. The bank would want this to be the same as the price at which it sells euros for dollars (the bank s ask price) times the price at which it sells dollars for yen. This latter price is the reciprocal of the price at which the bank buys dollars for yen, which is the bank s bid price of yen per dollar. Thus, the ask price of euros per yen should be €0.9855/$ [1 / (¥104.30/$)] = € 0.009449/¥ 1 2 Chapter 2: The Foreign Exchange Market 5. They constantly complain about his ability to football and his lawyering skills. They do not appreciate the courage and risk he is taking by defending an African American and doing the right thing. However, as they later on see that courage can take many forms like Ms. Dubose s morphine addiction and how Atticus takes the leap of faith by choosing to do the right thing and protect Tom Robinson. This resonates with Jem because he sees his father s Lawyering abilities and how he is using the for the good of Maycomb. Materials and Methods: This observational study included 100 patients of chronic kidney disease, who were included, irrespective of their age, sex, aetiology and their clinical profiles. A thorough clinical examination and evaluation were conducted, which included serum iron studies. By using Chi square analysis, the parameters which were used for a statistical correlation were the levels of anaemia with respect to the stages of the kidney disease, the type and the severity of anaemia, thrombocytopaenia with the bleeding time, leucocytosis and elevated ESR values. Results: Although most of the anaemia was of the normocytic type, nearly a third of the patients had microcytic hypochromic and a mixed type of anaemia. Those with a microcytic hypochromic picture correlated with a severe degree of anaemia. The elevated Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) levels were more distributed in the lower levels of the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR). There was no association between the platelet levels and the bleeding time. The leucocytosis was not necessarily associated with infections. Conclusions: It is pertinent to detect and treat subclinical iron deficiency in patients with CKD and to not over investigate the minor haematological variations. In that same fashion, some people feel the youngest child most often grows up a follower and remains a follower in adulthood. As the family size increases, the parental resources are divided more sparsely among all children. Many factors such as birth order, siblings, genes and circumstances all unquestionably play a greater role in the development of a child s personality (Healey, 2007) thus impacting the type of leader displayed. According to Healey (2007), parents get excited about their first born child and tend to be overprotective, pay more attention, investments and high expectations on the child. It is understandable that parents may be able to expend more resources on the first born, especially in smaller families if there is a gap between the other siblings.
