Modern Day Color And Sound Motion Pictures
The desire for a sense of motion, action, and narrative (cinema s roots) stretch all the way back to
prehistory with cave drawings... In fact, the entire history of human accomplishment in the
visual arts seems to reveal a deep seated desire to represent time, space, and action visually and as
vividly as possible . (Lewis 5) Throughout history, people have exhibited a need to be entertained
and a need for hope or something to look forward to. Without anything to live for, something to
strive for, life can prove to be meaningless. From the production of cave drawings to the creation
of modern day color and sound motion pictures, story telling has always been a part of human
existence. A look at the history of the development of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The invention of moving pictures began in 1875 in California when Leland Stanford, the
governor of California, got into a disagreement with a rival gambler about whether or not all four
hooves of a horse are ever off the ground at the same time. To get to the bottom of this argument,
Stanford hired Eadweard Muybridge, a British born entrepreneur and renowned photographer to
set up a row of cameras along a racetrack and capture the stages of the horses gallop with timed
exposures. (Lewis 8) This technique, known as the battery of camera technique, brought
photography leaps and bonds closer to cinema. After proving that all four hooves of a horse are
indeed off the ground at the same time, Muybridge took his series photographs on the road where
he not only exhibited his work but also talked about the technology that produced it. It was at one of
these shows that Thomas Edison met with Muybridge and became interested in producing a more
sophisticated simulation of movement on film than Muybridge s series photographs could ever
have produced... He had plans to develop a system that might sync serial images with recorded
sound played back on the Edison phonograph . (Lewis 9). After meeting with Muybridge, Edison
enlisted photographer William Kennedy Laurie Dickson to help him take technology one step
further and create a camera that could take a sequence of pictures with a single load

Sacrifice In The Metamorphosis
For our interactive oral, our group discussed how issues from The Metamorphosis related to our
own culture and experience, and the extent to which social and cultural context aided in our
understanding of the novella.
I presented three aspects of the novella which I felt connected to current life: family difficulties,
dehumanization through work, and alienation. In the story, Gregor s relationship with his parents
proves to be conflicting. Gregor feels pressured to be successful in his grueling profession to
support his family. Although he sacrifices his livelihood to do so, his efforts are unappreciated and
leave him feeling worthless. As adolescents, pressure from parents to be successful is common.
Many young adults end up choosing careers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows the reader that Gregor s wishes only to satisfy his own sense of responsibility before
comfortably moving on. Gregor s sinful nature is further emphasized with his transformation into
an unclean beast not suited for sacrifice . This use of diction allows the reader to understand, as
previously stated, that Gregor is not yet ready to become the savior of his family. Meanwhile,
Kafka s portrayal of Gregor reflects everything that is flawed with the Samsa family, who,
ironically leach off his work like vermin. This metamorphosis marks the beginning of Gregor s
ultimate sacrifice, as well as his role change as

Maslow s Theory Of Motivation
Motivation is the capability to change behavior. Motivation is a drive that holds one to act because
human behavior is directed toward some goal. Motivation is a personal act. It is therefore about
people s expectations and their needs, goals, behaviors, giving information about their
performances. Therefore, in order to fully comprehend the motivationprocess, it is necessary to
examine such factors as the reasons for compelling people to behave in a certain way, the personal
goals and the possibilities of maintaining their behavior. (The content theories deal with what
motivates people, whereas the process theories deal with, How motivation occurs. )

It is necessary to rank the needs in order of importance and to establish a hierarchy so that people s
first (basic) and second (complimentary) needs can be better known and satisfied.
Maslow s hierarchy of needs is most often depicted as a pyramid. This suggests that the base
level needs must be met before an individual can move upwards in the hierarchy to higher order
needs. Maslow identified the first four levels of the hierarchy as deficiency needs or d needs.
When these needs are not fulfilled, the individual may be left with feelings of tension or anxiety.
There are five levels of Maslow s hierarchy of needs. These levels;

The Louisiana Science Education Act Essay
In the United States, evolution and creationism remain a controversial issue as far as which
method should stay in science classes across the globe. How was the earth created? How were
humans created? These are questions that arise in most science classes. Many students require an
explanation of why people exist. There are those who would oppose evolution, and there are those
who oppose creationism. Is there a significant difference between these methods? Several states
have passed regulations that allow schools to teach both evolution and creationism. The Louisiana
Science Education Act, in particular, is a highly controversial debate. The act allows teachers to
teach adscititious materials in the classroom. Many opponents are looking to repeal this law. The
Louisiana Science Education Act should not be repealed as it allows the student to engage in
critical thinking skills, acknowledge both theories and ultimately decide which theory they believe.
Looking back at our history creationism was the first explanation of why humans exist today. Since
the beginning of time Christianity has played a significant role in religion. Christianity started in
Jerusalem and expanded into many different denominations across the world. Therefore,
Christianity is a religion based off of Jesus Christ and God the creator of the earth. Creationism
stemmed from several religions and is the belief that a higher being or deity created everything
living thing in nature through divine intervention

Improving the ISO Rating of the Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department
Introduction
In 2012, Insurance Services Office (ISO) conducted a review of the fire suppression capabilities
of the Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department (CBFD). The resulting Public Protection Classification
(PPC) was a Class 2. This classification puts the CBFD into the top 1% of the approximately
49,000 fire departments ISO reviews. In an effort to maintain the highest level of service to the
public, the current fire administration has established an organizational goal of achieving a Class 1
designation. The problem is that the CBFD has not developed a comprehensive plan to improve the
department ISO rating. In order to develop a plan, research is needed to ... Show more content on

Background and Significance The Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department was formed on January
5, 1883 by resolution of the city council to establish a full time, paid department. Prior to 1883,
the citizens of Council Bluffs had been protected from fire by several different volunteer fire
companies. The first such company, known as Hook Ladder 1, was formed after a conflagration
destroyed most of the town on November 14, 1854 (Petersen, 1992). Between 1854 and 1883,
the department grew in size, purchasing steam pumpers in 1868 and 1880. The city grew as
well, expanding from a population of 2,011 in 1860 to 18,063 in 1880. In 1918, the firemen of
the CBFD organized and became a charter member of the International Association of Fire
Fighters (IAFF), Local 15. This is an affiliation that the labor force of the CBFD still maintains
today. On April 5, 1920, the CBFD began a two platoon system with day and night shifts. Ten new
firemen were hired bringing the total staffing to 36 men working out of five stations. As the city
continued to grow the fire department updated and broadened the footprint of its fire stations. In
1942, a new Fire Station 2 was built

New Harmony Analysis
In addition to traditional communities that the world has known, utopian thinkers have developed
imaginary visions of an ideal city, a nowhere, where all obstacles are removed (Manuel, E.F. 1973).
Consequently, in the quest for human s ultimate happiness and fulfilment, founders of new
intentional communities have embarked on implementing ideas and methods toward man s
perfection by means of new social systems and reforms. One of these communities is Robert Owen
s New Harmony. As matter of fact, this community saw much dynamism in the start, but did not
last for long. Obviously, this community did not develop in vacuum, nor has it come into existence
overnight. Nevertheless, what experiences may have led to New Harmony tragic failure? In
addition, what are the pluses and drawbacks one can note of New Harmony concerning social
reconstruction? To what extent do New Harmony s experiences suggest the ideal conditions for
peaceful co existence?
This essay assesses New Harmony breakthrough from its inception to its afterlife, shading light onto
potencies and setbacks therein. In so doing, the essay first examines why this community was
initially appealing to so many people and why this trend went waning. In the second instance, he
essay highlights conditions for admittance to the community and the character of people who lived
there. Thirdly, the essay ponders on the living conditions guaranteed, and the kind of education
proposed as well. Fourthly, the essay discusses some

Greek Religion By Walter Burkert
In Greek Religion , Walter Burkert informs his readers mostly about the Greeks religious beliefs.
In section one, Burkert begins to discuss the history of the Early Bronze Age, such as the
vocabulary of Indo European and the religion of the Minoan Mycenaeans. He mentions the
different cult places which include: caves, temples, graves, as well as peak, tree, and house
sanctuaries. For example, a cult includes the Minoan Tree and Pillar Cult; the pillars and trees
were sacred, however, they were not worshipped. He also goes on to explain about Minoan Deities,
Mycenaean Gods and Linear B, and the Dark Age ; he talks about the evidence that exists of Linear
A and Linear B, such as the tablets recovered from Crete and Knossos. In section two, Burkert
describes the different kinds of rituals and symbols; the bull was a type of symbol from the
Hellenistic tradition, and there were festivals that celebrated the bull itself. Different kinds of rituals
Burkert explains include: animal sacrifice, blood and fire rituals, gift offering and libation, votive
offerings, prayer, dancing, hymns, masks, festivals, and purification. The Anthesteria Festival is
described in depth, such as that it occurred in the springtime for three days; additionally, the reason
for the festival is described. Burkert mentions different types of sanctuaries like the altar and the
temple. Also, Greek Religion describes certain philosophers outlook toward religion. In section

These are all very important in determining whether or not the patient has Epidermolysis Bullosa or
if it is a different skin disease. Knowledge of family history is also key because E.B. is mostly
inherited. The inheritance pattern may vary from dominant to recessive. The recessive form
(meaning both parents transmit the gene to a child) tends to be worse. Although the dominant form
means one parent carries the dominant gene enabling them to pass it on to their child. Diagnosing
correctly must also take into account the symptoms. There are many complications that can happen
with any one of the varieties of Epidermolysis Bullosa. The symptoms of a patient with

How Does Benjamin Franklin Contribute To Morality
People all over the world like to believe they have a good moral compass and are capable of
making honorable, ethical decisions. Arriving at moral perfection is not something everyone strives
for, but Benjamin Franklin is an exception to that. In The Autobiography by Benjamin Franklin, he
explicitly explained that he was striving for moral perfection, specifically, he strived for perfection
through religionand faith. He went on to explain this idea throughout his autobiography, which
leads to morality and religion becoming two major themes in his book. While reading Franklin,
we can see that what is important to him is being moral and doing things for the right reason, not
because everyone else is doing them. By living a moral life, Franklin only follows ideas and beliefs
that align with being honorable and helping others. Benjamin Franklindid not shy away from
expressing his religion and what he believed in, rather he stated it clearly so everybody knew his
religious beliefs. One very clear example of this, is when he says, I soon became a thorough Deist

Later on in his autobiography, Franklin listed virtues which he strived to achieve and used to guide
his life in the right direction. All of these virtues made up how he believed he should live his life,
showing once again, how he lived a morally fulfilled life. One of the most important, and hardest,
virtues is humility. When Franklin states this virtue, he ties it in to religion again. For humility he
states, Imitate Jesus and Socrates (P. 535). Though Franklin did connect religion and his virtues,
he did feel that the list of virtues was more important than any organized religion. To him, if you
live your life according to these virtues then you are living a good, honorable life. However, living
a religious life does not necessarily mean also living a virtuous

Siddhartha Symbolism
In Siddhartha, a book written by Hermann Hesse used symbolism to highlight the theme of the
story which was that some things can not be taught they must be experienced. He shows this theme
by providing examples in the story such as, Om, Buddha, Rebirth and The River. Siddhartha is a
book about the spiritual journey that the main character went through in order to reach his
enlightenment. In the book he goes through a lot of trial and error when trying to find his inner self
. In the beginning Siddhartha, along with his friend Govinda are Brahmans together but he feels as
if he has nothing left to learn. Later he goes through three years with the Samanas but also leaves
to learn more about Buddha when he feels that he is not making any progress. Govinda is

And in the moment when the sound of Om touched Siddhartha s ear, his dormant spirit suddenly

body with the world. Happily, Vasudeva s face was smiling, he bent over to Siddhartha and spoke
the holy Om into his ear. And this had been the very thing which Siddhartha had also been hearing,
when Vasudeva teaches Siddhartha ways to be enlightened, the om plays a big part because it is
something that he has always used. He is not taught how to use the om but rather experienced it. As

The Pursuit Of Happiness By Malcolm Muggeridge Essay
Govind Gharmalkar
Period 04: Ap English 3

Mrs.Yosh
American Values The British journalist, Malcolm Muggeridge, defined Americans as The pursuit of
happiness, which American citizens are obliged to undertake, tends to involve them in trying to
perpetuate the moods, tastes and aptitudes of youth. Happiness, which every human wants, is the
fundamental underlying quality by which America has built itself upon, proclaiming freedom,
equality and the opportunity to those who seek a better life. Muggeridge suggests an American
citizen meant to be in the pursuit of happiness. However, American citizens who were inclined to
find happiness, pursue wealth, acceptance, and image hoping that it will preserve youthfulness. In
reality, Americans pursuit of happiness turns into a search for youthfulness, in which qualities of
the youth are often sought after. In The Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald portrays a man s pursuit of
his dreams and happiness. Early in his life, Jay Gatsby realizes that with hard work, self
improvement, and an education, he can achieve his desires, like most Americans today. Like
Gatsby, who saw the wealth of Dan Cody as a thing that brings happiness, Americans today look
around and still associate money with happiness. Similar to Gatsby, who was willing to bootleg, lie,
and work, Americans find themselves chasing wealth for its ability to perpetuate youthfulness.
However, most

You re on your way home when the screaming starts. You look up, trying to identify the source of

Forget crime for a second. Think back to a time when you felt out of place. Was it arriving at an
event overdressed, or underdressed? In class being unsure of yourself? Visiting a foreign country?
In these situations, our first instinct is to look to others. What is the majority doing? I ll copy them.
If a situation is ambiguous, we become unsure of ourselves, and when we re unsure of ourselves,
we re not likely to act on instinct. Instead, we desire to conform.
Say you re at the beach.
Someone is splashing around in the water. You re unsure whether or not they re in danger and are
unsure what to do. You begin looking around to judge how others are responding to the situation. If
they seem calm, you assume the person is just playing around. But if they look panicked, you will
take the situation more seriously.
Instinct is cast aside because if we follow what everyone else s doing, they can t all be wrong, right?
It s not my responsibility.
The more people present in a given situation, the less responsible I feel for whatever plays out.
Similarly, the more witnesses there are at a crime scene, the less likely we are to help. There is a
diffusion of responsibility, which prevents us from taking action. If we re the only person
standing witness to a crime, we d feel like it s 100% our responsibility to get help. But if there s
20 people, then only 5% responsibility placed on us, and is someone else more qualified to handle
the situation? Do they want

Mindfulness is the secret of life. A life lived mindfully is a life lived full of peace, tranquility, joy,

Stephen Levine, author of A Gradual Awakening, says that mindfulness is a moment to moment
awareness of whatever arises, whatever exists.
Meditation teacher and author Sylvia Boorstein states that mindfulness is having the aware,
balanced acceptance of present experience. It is not more complicated than that. It is opening to or
receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is, without either clinging to or
rejecting it.
These simple yet profound use diverse expression and terminology, but what they all share in
common is that mindfulness is being completely and fully present for life. It is being aware of what
is going on within and around you in each moment of your miraculous existence. We simply

are committed to making the world a better place, another way they do this is by reducing the use
of carbon and promoting the use of carbon.
Best Buy does this for a couple reasons, at the end it is all for the greater good. The company stated
that the devastating droughts, severe storms, rising temperatures effect the communities where they

personal health. According to the company, about 60% of their large format stores were impacted

exceeded that. A year later they challenged themselves and renewed their goal to a 45% reduction by

The Pros And Cons Of The Pickens Plan
T. Boone Pickens created the Pickens Plan with the intention of reducing the international use of
oil. Pickens Plan states that by using natural gas in the place of oil, imported oil demands would
drop by в…“. The money saved from this plan would amount in the billions, which could then be
used to repair the U.S. s damaged economy. However, Pickens idea, like every alternative oil
plan, has its flaws. If Pickens Plan was implemented, the U.S. would not solely be affected; the
world and its economy would be shaken. The supply and demand of oil would fluctuate
dangerously, as would its prices.
According to Rediff Business (2013), the United States is ranked number one in worldwide oil

Since the U.S. is such a prominent oil buyer from as Corey Flintoff (2012) informs countries such
as Canada, Africa, Latin America, and others, a sudden cease of demand would rock the world s
economy. As of now, the U.S. demand of oil is at an equilibrium with the oil being supplied. If
the U.S. demand of oil dropped dramatically, as Pickens Plan says it should, oil supplying
countries would scramble to compensate for lost profits. In theory with the supply and demand
model, the cost and supply of oil would skyrocket, while demand would be nonexistent. Since oil
would be so costly, countries that purchase oil would be unable to afford it anymore, resulting in
an even higher increase of prices and steeper decrease of consumers. With the loss of the U.S. as a
consumer, the economies of these countries would suffer; this suffering would then spread
worldwide, affecting everyone

What Are The Similarities And Differences Between Koalas...
Frogs are a large, carnivorous group of small bodied, tailless amphibians who on average live for
10 12 years. In contrast, koalas are arboreal herbivores and are marsupials that are native to
Australia who can live up to 18 years, old according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koala.
Although, these two animals, like many other creatures, are unfortunately endangered but for
various reasons. There are countless problems facing towards koalas and frogs and they are
obviously not all the same. The troubles that the koalas and frogs face can easily be compared
and contrasted. Scientists have been looking for ways to save koalas and frogs, but they do not
all work. Therefore, there are many similarities and distinctions between the problems for frogs
and koalas. As a matter of fact, there are not too many similarities between the problems for these
animals. Nonetheless, there is one major thing that has caused both of these animals to be
endangered species, and that one thing is the work of humans. Without a doubt, humans
specifically play a crucial role in killing off frogs and koalas around the globe. One particular part
of these animals lives that are essential to them living is their habitat. Unfortunately, as the human

Essay on Censorship and Freedom of Speech
Censorship may be protection from inappropriate materials, but it also limits free speech. For the
limitation of free speech, it is reasonable why people are emphatically against censorship. It is
understood that there is a need to filter some of the materials released in today s society, but too
much is being done by people who have no right meddling with everyone s rights. Civilization has
always been plagued by a never ending battle being fought over what is deemed right and wrong. In
today s culture, censorshipoppresses everything in the media. From movies and music to television
and even news stories, most of the content viewed today has been filtered one way or another.

Today, censorship is in place in more ways than you can imagine. As mentioned previously,
movies, music, television, and more are filtered one way or another. Some people go to such
lengths as illegal means of spreading materials deemed inappropriate for a certain viewing
audience. When the United States was established, the first amendment guaranteed the rights to
free speech and free press. However, it has never been interpreted to mean that all forms of
expression are legal (Zorea). The common misconception is that people believe that all forms of
expression are legal, but that has never been the case, and probably never will be. Intellectual
freedom is important because it allows people to express their ideas or beliefs however they feel
is appropriate (Intellectual Freedom Manual). With censorship, that freedom is stifled and
breaches the right everyone has for that intellectual freedom. Also affecting that freedom is the
influence that outside sources can have on your own thoughts and actions. People tend to rely
more on television and other electronic media to give them false ideas or impressions. Currently,
censorship in music is possibly the most relevant form of censorship. One of the more disturbing
signs of censorship in music is a condition nearly snuck into the USA PATRIOT Act that would
allow the government to hack private citizens computers to delete what they consider to be illegal
MP3 song files (Blecha 179).

My Goals And Dedication Of Dedication
When people hear dedication, they may think about relationships or a job. Dedication means
something different to all of us. To me, dedication is more general. It is chasing a dream or goal
relentlessly yet selflessly. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Dedication emerged in
me when I first started school and competing in athletics, and it has led me to every major
achievement. Twelve years after dedication started to model me into who I am today, I realized
it was shaping my life when I became a National Merit Scholar and placed eighth at state
wrestling, both in February of 2016. I looked back to all the times where dedication is all that
kept me on the track of achieving my goals and where dedication paid off. I didn t choose to
value dedication; external factors grew it up inside of me. Every youth soccer league practice
and game, every wrestling practice and tournament, and every class I had were factors in the
development of dedication. It s clear what made me become so dedicated. The question to ask
myself is why these experiences instilled dedication in me. The first place to look is wrestling. It s
a sport that can build or destroy character. Wrestling builds confidence. This confidence can grow or
shrink depending on the outcome of competition. Some people become overconfident and others
settle into the perfect amount of confidence. I believe I fall into the latter group. Practice can grow
humility and dedication by fighting through

deterioration, problems initiating and controlling muscles and movement, increased startle reaction
to sound, early blindness, seizures, spasticity, and myoclonus.3 Other symptomsmay include

The gene that causes Sandhoff is located in chromosome 5. Sandhoff disease is typically caused
by mutations in the HEXB gene. This gene provides instructions for making a protein that a part
of two enzymes in the nervous system, beta hexosaminidase A and beta hexosaminidase B. These
two enzymes are located in lysosomes, which are in the cells that break down toxic substances.4
Sandhoff disease, like Tay Sach s, is classified into infantile, juvenile, and adult forms. Infantile
onset is the most rapidly progressive neurologic dysfunction and normally causes death by age
three. Symptoms of infantile onset generally begin the first six to 18 months of life, which include;
psychomotor retardation, cherry red spot, blindness, and hypotonia. After the age of two is when
the symptoms of macrocephaly and spasticity are demonstrated. Seizures usually begin after the
first year of life and are mostly tonic clonic or myoclonic.11 Juvenile Sandhoff begins to appear

Lenders or suppliers would be interested in the liquidity ratio because the company s likelihood to
pay off short term debt is obvious. The profit of the company determines the potential impending
success and would be important to creditors and investors. The solvency ratios show if the
company will continue to grow and stockholders or financial analysts would be interested in these
ratios. Asset Turnover is the amount of sales or revenues produced per dollar of assets. The Asset
Turnover ratio is a gauge of the productivity in which a company is using its assets. The number
of times is calculated by the net sales divided by the average assets. Usually, the higher the ratio,
the better it is, since it implies the company is generating more revenues per dollar of assets (
Investopedia , 2014). The asset turnover ratio tends to be higher for companies in a sector like
consumer staples, which has a relatively small asset base but high sales volume. On the other

Spirited Away Reflection
Hayao Miyazaki s oscar award winning Spirited Away was the first Japanese anime film to win an
Oscar. To see how this animated feature film won this grand award, this paper will talk about the
writing, music, and sound design of this film.
Hayao Miyazaki was born on January 5, 1941 in a town called Akebono cho in BunkyЕЌ, Tokyo.
His father ran a business that manufactured plane rudders during World War II. At the age of 3,
Miyazaki s family had to evacuate numerous times to escape bombings in their area. Miyazaki
aspired to become a manga artist when he was in junior high, but he was not good at drawing
people, so instead he drew planes, tanks, and ships. He then got inspired by a movie called Panda
and the Magic Serpent (1958) and began to draw more people.
Miyazaki s writing tends to be more on the fantasy side. One theme that can be seen throughout
his films is the joy and wonder of flying, as Miyazaki himself loves the idea of flying. In most of
his more famous films, things start out in a normal and real world setting, and then get whisked
away into a new and strange world filled with mystery and wonder.
The story of Spirited Awayfollows a ten year old girl named Chihiro, who is currently moving into
a new home in a new town in Japan. On their way to the new house, Chihiro s parents find an
abandoned temple like structure. The family decides to venture in and investigate the area. Chihiro
is cautious and doesn t want to go any further, but the fear of being left alone

(Amezdroz, 2010) Passing and catching is an essential part of being a middle, whether it is

A game of touch requires the use of all energy systems at once but in varied amounts. The body will
automatically choose which energy system it requires the most based on the fitness components
used. It has been identified above that the three main components used by a middle are; Aerobic

the Aerobic system. The aerobic system uses oxygen and is generally one of low mid intensity and

INTRODUCTION Not п¬Ѓnance. Not strategy. Not technology. It is teamwork that remains the
ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is so powerful and so rare. A friend of mine,
the founder of a company that grew to a billion dollars in annual revenue, best expressed the
power of teamwork when he once told me, If you could get all the people in an organization
rowing in the same direction, you could dominate any industry, in any market, against any
competition, at any time. Whenever I repeat that adage to a group of leaders, they immediately
nod their heads, but in a desperate sort of way. They seem to grasp the truth of it while
simultaneously surrendering to the impossibility of actually making it happen. And that is where
the rarity of teamwork comes into play. For all the attention that it has received over the years
from scholars, coaches, teachers, and the media, teamwork is as elusive as it has ever been within

Finally, the essay will conclude by suggesting several strategies or solutions which can be
practically used to combat the issues that are being faced. What are the Emerging Market
Multinationals?
Emerging market multinationals are companies with operation bases in at least one other country
from their home bases (West, 2015). They have varied ownership models with the national or local
governments often being part owners of the company as in the case of resource or energy
companies. Family or private ownership is also a popular ownership model. They are also multi
industrial in nature with the company operating multiple sectors in the home country and
internationalizing in only one or two of these (West, 2015).
Emerging Market Multinationals mainly emerged because domestic companies in developed
countries saw a shift in growth pattern once they reached the peak of their economic curve. Growth
slowed down and even became stagnant. This was primarily because the markets in the developed
countries had already reached their optimum levels. On the other hand, this was the period of time
when developing countries began to experience rapid economic growth. This prompted companies
to look towards the potential and resources of these emerging markets as their source of salvation
and develop

Fame). There has always been a lot of controversy surrounding Rose, but the Reds finally took a
step that should have been taken a long time ago, they honored one of the best players to play
for their organization. It is time for the baseball Hall of Fame to do the same. Rose s Hall of Fame
story started September 1985, during a game at the Red s home field. During this game, Pete
Rose got a hit. Hits were no big deal in Rose s career; however, this one was different. This was hit
number 4,192 for Rose. He had just broken the hits record (The Pete Rose Controversy).... Show

His name has been tarnished by the reports that he ruined a sacred game. The MLB does not
have to lift the ban on Rose, they shouldn t. Rose did in fact break a rule that he was warned
about time and time again. However, the baseball Hall of Fame should change their rule and
allow Rose be into the Hall. Pete Rose s being entered into the Hall of Fame would not mean that
he would be forgiven for betting on baseball games. It would not mean that betting on baseball
games is an okay action to commit. It would simply mean that the accomplishments that Rose
achieved on the baseball field are recognized and the mark that he left on the history of the sport is

However the strength and stability of polymer fiber interface determines the final properties of the
polypropylene composites. The main advantages of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene
composites are high tensile strength, low cost, high chemical resistance and good insulating
properties. The disadvantages are high specific gravity, low tensile modulus, high hardness and low
fatigue resistance. One of the methods used to improve final properties of the glass fiber
polypropylene is by matrix modification. In this method, polar functional groups are introduced to
polypropylene chains so as to improve compatibility with polar strengthening and achieve a
homogenous dispersion of fillers, reinforcements and additives [37]. Apart from automotive
bumpers glass reinforced polymers are used for structure and function parts such as washing
machine parts, axial fan blades of industries, irrigation equipment parts, skeleton of instrument panel

In fact, the entire history of human accomplishment in the visual arts seems to reveal a deep seated desire to represent time, space, and action visually and as vividly as possible . (Lewis 5) Throughout history, people have exhibited a need to be entertained and a need for hope or something to look forward to. Without anything to live for, something to strive for, life can prove to be meaningless. The invention of moving pictures began in 1875 in California when Leland Stanford, the governor of California, got into a disagreement with a rival gambler about whether or not all four hooves of a horse are ever off the ground at the same time. To get to the bottom of this argument, Stanford hired Eadweard Muybridge, a British born entrepreneur and renowned photographer to set up a row of cameras along a racetrack and capture the stages of the horses gallop with timed exposures. (Lewis 8) This technique, known as the battery of camera technique, brought photography leaps and bonds closer to cinema. After proving that all four hooves of a horse are indeed off the ground at the same time, Muybridge took his series photographs on the road where he not only exhibited his work but also talked about the technology that produced it. It was at one of these shows that Thomas Edison met with Muybridge and became interested in producing a more sophisticated simulation of movement on film than Muybridge s series photographs could ever have produced... He had plans to develop a system that might sync serial images with recorded sound played back on the Edison phonograph . (Lewis 9). After meeting with Muybridge, Edison enlisted photographer William Kennedy Laurie Dickson to help him take technology one step further and create a camera that could take a sequence of pictures with a single load ... In the story, Gregor s relationship with his parents proves to be conflicting. Gregor feels pressured to be successful in his grueling profession to support his family. • 7. The Louisiana Science Education Act Essay In the United States, evolution and creationism remain a controversial issue as far as which method should stay in science classes across the globe. How was the earth created? How were humans created? These are questions that arise in most science classes. Many students require an explanation of why people exist. There are those who would oppose evolution, and there are those who oppose creationism. Is there a significant difference between these methods? Several states have passed regulations that allow schools to teach both evolution and creationism. The Louisiana Science Education Act, in particular, is a highly controversial debate. The act allows teachers to teach adscititious materials in the classroom. Many opponents are looking to repeal this law. The Louisiana Science Education Act should not be repealed as it allows the student to engage in critical thinking skills, acknowledge both theories and ultimately decide which theory they believe. Looking back at our history creationism was the first explanation of why humans exist today. Since the beginning of time Christianity has played a significant role in religion. Christianity started in Jerusalem and expanded into many different denominations across the world. Therefore, Christianity is a religion based off of Jesus Christ and God the creator of the earth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Background and Significance The Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department was formed on January 5, 1883 by resolution of the city council to establish a full time, paid department. Prior to 1883, the citizens of Council Bluffs had been protected from fire by several different volunteer fire companies. The first such company, known as Hook Ladder 1, was formed after a conflagration destroyed most of the town on November 14, 1854 (Petersen, 1992). Between 1854 and 1883, the department grew in size, purchasing steam pumpers in 1868 and 1880. The city grew as well, expanding from a population of 2,011 in 1860 to 18,063 in 1880. In 1918, the firemen of the CBFD organized and became a charter member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Local 15. This is an affiliation that the labor force of the CBFD still maintains today. On April 5, 1920, the CBFD began a two platoon system with day and night shifts. Consequently, in the quest for human s ultimate happiness and fulfilment, founders of new intentional communities have embarked on implementing ideas and methods toward man s perfection by means of new social systems and reforms. One of these communities is Robert Owen s New Harmony. As matter of fact, this community saw much dynamism in the start, but did not last for long. Obviously, this community did not develop in vacuum, nor has it come into existence overnight. Nevertheless, what experiences may have led to New Harmony tragic failure? In addition, what are the pluses and drawbacks one can note of New Harmony concerning social reconstruction? To what extent do New Harmony s experiences suggest the ideal conditions for peaceful co existence? This essay assesses New Harmony breakthrough from its inception to its afterlife, shading light onto potencies and setbacks therein. In so doing, the essay first examines why this community was initially appealing to so many people and why this trend went waning. Arriving at moral perfection is not something everyone strives for, but Benjamin Franklin is an exception to that. In The Autobiography by Benjamin Franklin, he explicitly explained that he was striving for moral perfection, specifically, he strived for perfection through religionand faith. He went on to explain this idea throughout his autobiography, which leads to morality and religion becoming two major themes in his book. While reading Franklin, we can see that what is important to him is being moral and doing things for the right reason, not because everyone else is doing them. By living a moral life, Franklin only follows ideas and beliefs that align with being honorable and helping others. When Franklin states this virtue, he ties it in to religion again. For humility he states, Imitate Jesus and Socrates (P. 535). Though Franklin did connect religion and his virtues, he did feel that the list of virtues was more important than any organized religion. When the United States was established, the first amendment guaranteed the rights to free speech and free press. However, it has never been interpreted to mean that all forms of expression are legal (Zorea). The common misconception is that people believe that all forms of expression are legal, but that has never been the case, and probably never will be. Intellectual freedom is important because it allows people to express their ideas or beliefs however they feel is appropriate (Intellectual Freedom Manual). With censorship, that freedom is stifled and breaches the right everyone has for that intellectual freedom. Also affecting that freedom is the influence that outside sources can have on your own thoughts and actions. People tend to rely more on television and other electronic media to give them false ideas or impressions. Currently, censorship in music is possibly the most relevant form of censorship. • 31. Spirited Away Reflection Hayao Miyazaki s oscar award winning Spirited Away was the first Japanese anime film to win an Oscar. To see how this animated feature film won this grand award, this paper will talk about the writing, music, and sound design of this film. Hayao Miyazaki was born on January 5, 1941 in a town called Akebono cho in BunkyЕЌ, Tokyo. His father ran a business that manufactured plane rudders during World War II. At the age of 3, Miyazaki s family had to evacuate numerous times to escape bombings in their area. Miyazaki aspired to become a manga artist when he was in junior high, but he was not good at drawing people, so instead he drew planes, tanks, and ships. He then got inspired by a movie called Panda and the Magic Serpent (1958) and began to draw more people. Miyazaki s writing tends to be more on the fantasy side. One theme that can be seen throughout his films is the joy and wonder of flying, as Miyazaki himself loves the idea of flying. In most of his more famous films, things start out in a normal and real world setting, and then get whisked away into a new and strange world filled with mystery and wonder. The story of Spirited Awayfollows a ten year old girl named Chihiro, who is currently moving into a new home in a new town in Japan. On their way to the new house, Chihiro s parents find an abandoned temple like structure. The family decides to venture in and investigate the area. Chihiro is cautious and doesn t want to go any further, but the fear of being left alone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As described in the article The Estate Income Tax Returns: The Plan to Complete the Returns, the plan, in part, involved distributing the proceeds of the rental property sale and paying out tax deductible expenses. However, before I could carry out my portion of the plan, I had to complete the following important tasks: Mail W 9 forms to a couple of beneficiaries not willing to give their social security number through email or by phone. Contact the two charities for their tax id numbers. Contact the attorney and tax professional for invoices. So, once the requested information arrives, I could begin to execute the plan. Since the beneficiaries weren t expecting much from the estate, they were about to receive an unexpected surprise. However, I couldn t let the excitement affect the work that still remains. The will provided for a twisted distribution formula and I had to get it right. So, I wrote a draft of the distribution and had the attorney and tax professional look it over. They both approved of the distribution and, at that point, I wrote out the checks. Along with the checks, I included a letter explaining that this is the first distribution of three. The next distribution will distribute the last of the estate property, and the third distribution was to close out what remains in the estate account. To get the beneficiaries feeling giddy, I told them that the first distribution consisted of only the proceeds from the sale of the rental property, which accounted for about a third of the estate value. So, after reading this letter, I am sure the beneficiaries would feel pleasantly surprised. If not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Amezdroz, 2010) Passing and catching is an essential part of being a middle, whether it is receiving from the dummy half or passing out to a wing; these movements require limbs to move in the right direction and at the right speed to be preformed effectively. Energy System Requirements A game of touch requires the use of all energy systems at once but in varied amounts. The body will automatically choose which energy system it requires the most based on the fitness components used. It has been identified above that the three main components used by a middle are; Aerobic capacity, muscular endurance and coordination. In figure 12.5 it shows the relationship between components of fitness and energy systems. Both aerobic capacity and muscular endurance relate to the Aerobic system. The aerobic system uses oxygen and is generally one of low mid intensity and /or of a longer duration. Middles utilise this energy system because they continuously require energy production at an almost equal rate. 2.3 Wing Position Requirements The wings are the two outermost players on a field. Wings must be quick and able to produce explosive efforts. In attack they should be towards the sidelines anticipating opportunities to score, whilst defence they can move inwards more. It is teamwork that remains the ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is so powerful and so rare. A friend of mine, the founder of a company that grew to a billion dollars in annual revenue, best expressed the power of teamwork when he once told me, If you could get all the people in an organization rowing in the same direction, you could dominate any industry, in any market, against any competition, at any time. Whenever I repeat that adage to a group of leaders, they immediately nod their heads, but in a desperate sort of way. They seem to grasp the truth of it while simultaneously surrendering to the impossibility of actually making it happen. And that is where the rarity of teamwork comes into play. Finally, the essay will conclude by suggesting several strategies or solutions which can be practically used to combat the issues that are being faced. What are the Emerging Market Multinationals? Emerging market multinationals are companies with operation bases in at least one other country from their home bases (West, 2015). They have varied ownership models with the national or local governments often being part owners of the company as in the case of resource or energy companies. Family or private ownership is also a popular ownership model. They are also multi industrial in nature with the company operating multiple sectors in the home country and internationalizing in only one or two of these (West, 2015). Emerging Market Multinationals mainly emerged because domestic companies in developed countries saw a shift in growth pattern once they reached the peak of their economic curve. Growth slowed down and even became stagnant. This was primarily because the markets in the developed countries had already reached their optimum levels. On the other hand, this was the period of time when developing countries began to experience rapid economic growth. This prompted companies to look towards the potential and resources of these emerging markets as their source of salvation and develop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Day the Earth Stood Still was an early warning to the world, and a commentary on paranoid society when its main character tried to do just that. The alien Klaatu, along with his robot backup, Gort, lands in Washington D.C. intending to deliver a message to the world s leaders Desist with atomic power or be destroyed. However, before he is able to deliver that message, he is promptly shot a commentary on society s post war paranoia and immediate distrust of the unknown. Ultimately, the alien s attempts to deliver the dire message are futile, with the world s leaders unable to overcome their pettiness and suspicion to really hear.
