Physical Therapist Assistant Essay
Have you ever bent down to pick something up or sprinted after your dog because he got loose? Not
many people in today s society pay attention to their body movement. They often take their body s
ability to move normally for granted. A person s biomechanics are essential to everyday life, without
being able to move properly one cannot perform everyday tasks. Unfortunately, there are people who
are not able to do so and face many hardships in their life and may be in a lot of pain. Therefore, these
people seek professional assistance to help them regain their ability to function normally. Usually,
they end up in the care of a physical therapist and his assistant. According to the Bureau of Labor

This takes more time and effort from both the patient and the physical therapist assistant. There are
patients who will need to adapt to having an artificial limb or being permanently confined to a
wheelchair. Patients with these kinds of impairments will be stressed emotionally with the limitations
they have with their body; a physical therapist assistant must also help that patient to improve their
state of mind. Overall, it s about helping a patient regain independence as much as possible. Along
with the team, a physical therapist assistant will also help with the evaluation of a patient s condition,
An evaluation can include measuring the patient s strength, range of motion, and functional ability;
that is, how well the patient performs certain physical tasks (Mayo Clinic). Once the evaluation is
done, the physical therapist will develop a treatment plan for the patient that the physical therapist
assistant has to carry out (Mayo Clinic). When carrying out this treatment plan, the physical therapist
assistant must observe [the patient] before and during therapy, [take note of] their status and [report] to
a physical therapist (Bureau of Labor Statistics). If a procedure it a little more complicated both the

routine visits will be done by the physical therapist assistant alone. They also help patients by teaching

ESOURCING STRATEGY AT SUN MICROSYSTEMS
Introduction
op yo In May 2000, Sonia Syngal, director of procurement strategy and supplier relations at Sun
Microsystems, needed to make a critical decision. Under Sonia s leadership, the company had just
completed its first dynamic bidding pilot tests and as a result, cut its sourcing costs by 30 percent.
Given these results, the potential for cost cutting via the implementation of a dynamic bidding system
on a widespread scale at Sun was enormous; on an annual basis, the company was currently spending
about $9 billion in direct materials procurement.

Meat Consumption
23 May 2011
One Bite At a Time Most Americans are aware of global warming, cancer, heart disease and the fact
that the earth s supply of good water is diminishing. In an effort to conserve our planet people drive
hybrid cars, recycle, and use low energy light bulbs and appliances, which is great. However, most
Americans are unaware and uninformed about how meat effects global warming, our health, and how
much of our planet s water and resources meat production consumes. Meat contributes to global
warming, increases risk for cancer, causes heart disease and uses a tremendous amount of resources to
produce, therefore people need to be informed about what they are eating through food labeling and

the single most significant cause of death from heart disease (Marcus 3). If people cut back or
eliminated animal products from their diets, not only would they be eating less of the foods that cause
their bodies harm, they would be eating more nutrient rich foods (fruits and vegetables) that help fight
off and prevent disease. Doctors like Dean Ornish and John MacDougall have discovered that plant
based diets have the power to reverse heart disease,

The Starry Night
The Starry Night The starry night is painting by Vincent van Goh done in 1889. The painting is
inspired by the night view. It is a painting that was done by oil on canvas just as the way traditional
paintings are done. However, the starry night was not painted at night as expected. It was done during
day using van Goh s imagination. According to van Goh, he always expressed his liking to draw a
painting portraying the sky at night. Van Goh s works on the starry night was inspired by the night
skies and surroundings of the asylum where he was receiving treatment due to breakdowns (Brooks,
2012). The title of the painting, the starry night , goes hand in hand with what the painting tries to
describe. The painting reflects emotions and expressiveness. A group of curvy black lines that seem to
originate from a point dominate the left side of the painting. There is a town on the lower right that
extends up to the hills. As the title goes, the painting is set at night. The sky has been done in a swirl
that bursts out in to blues, greens and gentle yellow. The center part of the painting is the moon which
is shown by a yellow dot. The dark lines that stark up on the right side tend to stand for a plant. The
town is marked by small dots on the houses perhaps showing electricity lights or lamp lights sealing
the fact that painting setting is night time. The objective of the painter was to depict the night time in a
small town. The painting has its kind of mystery because of

Polls in the media
Abstract
The aim of this analytical essay was to investigate the reliability and accuracy of polls in the media.
The report includes both the strengths and weakness of the three selected polls, two of which were
conducted over the internet and the remaining over the telephone. This investigation is aimed to look
in depth at the methods of survey and the variables within it that may or may not have sufficiently
controlled or not. After the research that had been done, it was evident that there were many faults in
the survey system.
Introduction
Polls are a casting of votes that are supplied to a targeted audience, these audiences range from 18 to
50 years although this can vary depending on the subject of the questionnaire. A poll is a specific
question supplied to the public in order to gain an average opinion on the matter. The participants can
then choose one of the multiple answers that are predefined. A survey is similar to a poll in some ways
such as the series of questions provided to civilians to answer, the only discrepancy between the two is
that there is a wider range of question types.
There many different types of polls such as a push poll, opinion poll, benchmark poll, brushfire poll
entrance polls and exit polls. A push is a seemingly unbiased survey that is conducted over the
telephone by supporters of a specific political candidate. They then try to

Product Management Using Boston Matrix Tool with Product Life Cycle Management
INTRODUCTION: Oil and gas theft and spillage along pipelines are caused by two major
phenomena: damages and ruptures. However, pipeline damages are mainly due to sabotage. Due to
diminished pipeline and aging process of the pipes there will be ruptures in pipeline. In Nigeria oil and
gas theft and spillage occurs due to a number of causes which include corrosion of pipeline and
tankers, sabotage, oil production operations and insufficient or non functional production equipment.
Pipeline rupture is caused due to very old and lack regular inspection and maintenance .As a result it is
causing environmental pollution and wastage of resources. To over come this problem an Engineering
Systems Development Company called Abuja Energy Surveillance (AES) Ltd has developed a new oil
and gas pipeline monitoring system using drones and Geographic Information System. By using
Boston Matrix the company has planned 10 year strategic market share plan that focuses on making

In What Ways do the Poets Studied Write about Childhood Experiences?
Discord in Childhood by David Herbert Lawrence
Piano by David Herbert Lawrence
Fern Hill by Dylan Thomas
Death of a Naturalist by Seamus Heaney
The poets studied all write about their childhood in their poetry, but there are subtle differences in the
way that the poet has expressed himself and in how the poem comes across to the reader. The view of
the poets changes between the three, and the setting of the poem have both similarities and
differences. All four poems are written about childhood, but there are differences in structure and
format between each poet.

He uses phrases like mammy frog and slime kings which are childlike in their use. He also makes
references to things like a child he talks about telling the weather from the frog s colour. Fern Hill
however, is written in a more grand style similar to that of an adult expressing in words a memory
which he could not have described previously as a child. Dylan Thomas tells his poem in a much more
elaborate manner to try a get across an idea that he could not do before.
Childhood is often referred to by many writers as the happiest times of your life. Seamus Heaney s
and Dylan Thomas s poems show that they believe in that principle. However, DH Lawrence s poems
show that he did not have a happy childhood and he makes that point abundantly clear. In Death of a
Naturalist , Heaney shows that he once had a love of nature but, after one incident, he lost that love
forever. The structure of the poem shows his change of opinion: the first verse uses adjectives and nice
images that infer that the subject he is talking about is one that he likes; but the style of language
changes in the second verse where the vocabulary used shows the reader that the poet now does not
like his poem subject at all. Words like rank ,
coarse and obscene are used as negative adjectives in the second verse, so enforcing the view that he
has now lost his love for nature.

Research Paper On Materialistic Society
Our Materialistic Society
The term materialism is known as a philosophy, and also an issue in our society. By definition,
materialism is the theory or attitude that physical well being and worldly possessions constitute the
greatest good and highest value in life (Khan). This means that our society has a tendency to consider
material items or money as more important than our spiritual values. Since youth, children have
thought that having more stuff, or better stuff, is happiness. Everyone always wants to buy the latest
device, or the newest trends, when they don t really need it. According to DeAngelis, Compared with
Americans in 1957, today we own twice as many cars per person, eat out twice as often and enjoy

tempt yourself. In addition, instead of buying the newest things that come out, you can just wait until
you need to replace them. If everyone just tried to be less materialistic, we can make our society less

The Great Gatsby Compare And Contrast Essay
The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of the most famous books in American literature. This
books shows American life during the 1920s and how greed and materialism were taking over the
American dream. The film director, Baz Luhrmann puts his effort to turn Fitzgerald s masterpiece into
the movie, The Great Gatsby . The actor in the movie do a pretty decent job in portraying the
characters in the book. The narrator of the book, Nick Carraway, is played by Tobey Maguire.
Maguire does a nice job of showing how disturbed by the events that occurred in the East. However,
Maguire doesn t seem as observant as Nick is in the book. Nick usually realizes little details and he
like to elaborate about them. Though, this could just be because they can only put just a few main
things about the book in two and a half hour timespan. Leonardo DiCaprio plays ... Show more

A main difference is that Nick is found in a sanitarium, telling the doctor all the events that led up to
Gatsby s death. This does not take place in the book. He never goes to a doctor to get help. In fact,
Nick goes back to the home in the Middle west to write the story. Another difference is that in the
movie Jordan Baker doesn t tell Nick about Tom s affair, when Nick goes to Daisy s house for the first
time. In the book, Jordan does tell Nick that Tom is having an affair when Daisy leaves. Nick and
Jordan s relationship is not shown too much in the movie, which is a downside of the movie. The
book, however, shows that they were dating, their break up, and their first kiss. Also the part where
everyone goes to New York is also different. At the hotel in the movie, Gatsby gets really mad and he
almost hits Tom. Gatsby doesn t do anything like that in the book. This made the movie more
entertaining and it showed it showed daisy going away from Gatsby better. Even with these changes,
the basic plot of the book and the movie is basically the

The Death Of Ivan Ilych
Sigmund Freud, the founder of modern day psychology and psychoanalysis, described human
consciousness as the combination of three elements, id, ego and superego. The id is what controls our
personal desires, the superego controls our ideas about where we fit in society and the ego is in
between these two elements balancing their effects to help us make rational decisions. Despite the fact
that these theories were developed well after Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary or Tolstoy wrote The
Death of Ivan Ilych the main characters of each (Emma and Ivan) both represent people who have
become dominated by one aspect of their subconscious. Whereas Emma is dominated by her id,
seeking only selfish pleasures in life, Ivan is dominated by his ... Show more content on

This attitude of Emma is most apparent in a scene towards the end of the novel in which Emma
attends a masquerade ball with Leon in Rouen. After the dance they go to a seedy restaurant where
Emma has a fainting spell. After recovering, she thought of Berthe, sleeping in the maid s room back
in Yonville (252). After a loud cart rumbles by, disrupting her train of thought, the next thing she
thinks is everything, including herself, seemed unbearable to her. She wished she could fly away like a
bird and make herself young again somewhere in the vast purity of space (252). Here, Flaubert
juxtaposes the image of Emma s pre school aged child sleeping with her desire to restart her life and
try again. These contrasting images powerfully show Emma s indifference towards her child, and
reveal her complete selfishness.
While her feelings towards her daughter show how Emma is controlled by her id, she also displays a
lack of superego function, as she commonly is unconcerned with the rules of society. At the peak of
her relationships with both Rodolphe and Leon, Emma defiantly chooses to not to care if she is seen in
public with her lovers. This lack of discretion finally works against her when one day in Rouen,
Monsieur Lheureux met her as she was leaving the Hôtel de Boulogne on Leon s arm. She was
frightened, for she was sure he would talk. But he was not foolish enough to do that.

The Modern Concept Of Lean Management
The modern concept of lean management as used today can be traced back to the Toyota Production
System (TPS). The manufacturing philosophy was pioneered by Japanese engineers to emphasize the
minimization of waste and focus on doing it right the first time (Davis and Heineke, 2005). Engineers
knew that waste was something that customers were not willing to pay for thus they should try and
eliminate it. This led to the discovery that inventory is essentially waste. Keeping parts and products
in stock adds no value to a company, and should be eliminated. Although lean production began in
Japan, it now has been successfully implemented across the globe (Agus and Hajinoor, 2012). The
integrated activity, know as lean production in supply chain management, is designed to achieve high
volume flexible production using very minimal inventories of raw materials. This is based on the idea
that nothing will be produced until it is need. The process is implemented throughout the supply chain
with the signal essentially moving backwards from the customer all the way back to raw materials.
Lean production is an entire new way of thinking which includes the integration of vision, culture, and
strategy to serve the customer with high quality, low cost, and short delivery times (Shook and
Womack, 2015). Lean production is generally described from two points of view, either from a
philosophical perspective related to guiding principles and overarching goals, or from the practical

Milton Hershey s Accomplishments
Milton Hershey once said, If I ever become rich, I am going to use my money to build schools to give

Alcoholism In Crash Into Me
Peer Pressure is frequently involved with excessive drinking on college campuses. Alcohol is
prominent in the college culture because it is presented at many social affairs and is part of many
gatherings with peers. Because peers are the most salient social referents in the college environment,
they are a potent influence on alcohol use. Most new acquaintances at college will be drinkers: recent
research indicating that four out of five college students drink. In addition, college peers tend to be
more approving of alcohol use. Exposure to such drinking often leads to increased alcohol use:
students residing in places where heavy drinking is approved and where alcoholic beverages and the
places to consume them are readily available will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book Crash Into Me by Liz Seccuro, the audience is taught one of the leading consequence of
alcoholism; rape. Some of the major causes of Alcoholism in college are: availability of alcohol(Pg.
44), social pressure(Pg. 46), and genetic susceptibility to alcohol. Exploring the causes of alcoholism
helps lead to the conclusion that alcohol is a huge part of college culture and there needs to be a policy
to help prevent alcoholistic incidents (like what happened in Crash Into Me) from happening. One
policy that can help with the problem of alcoholism in college is; imposing liability to the social host
that is responsible for the underaged drinking at the party. This policy proposes the idea that social
hosts are in violation of: furnishing alcohol to a minor, and allowing underaged drinking to occur on
property that they control. Thus leading to the point that; the social host may be prosecuted by the
State under a criminal statute and face a fine or imprisonment for the criminal violation (Alcohol
Policy Information System n.d.). This policy can be considered neutral because it contains both
conservative and liberal aspects. The policy proposes more of a moral stance on who s responsible for
the events that happen at the party and the results of what the alcohol does to the underaged drinkers
after the party. The idea of this policy is that the social host is responsible(as well as the person who
committed the crime) and receives a fine or imprisonment for the violation of the law. This policy
would help alcoholism in college because the social hosts would be more vigilant about who drinks or
does drugs at a party that takes place on property that they control. For example; a Fraternity decides
to throw a party, the fraternity mother/father would be in charge of knowing who is drinking and
would attempt to imply precautions to avoid a violation of the law that would ultimately have them
face imprisonment

China s Economic Growth Is Unstable, Unbalanced,...
In the National People s Congress press conference in March 2007, China s Premier Wen Jiabao
argues the biggest problem with China s economy is that its economic growth is unstable, unbalanced,
uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Since export and investment play unsustainable roles in increasing
China s real GDP, this study tries to testify how consumption enhances the sustainability of China s
real GDP in the short run over a long period of time. As Krugman (1994) suggests, increase in the
economic growth rate in the steady state can only be attained by the technological progress. However,
it is also true that the increase in consumption will increase the real GDP in the short run. Based on the
fact that the current ratio of consumption over output in China is much smaller than that of other
countries, such as Japan and the United States, a higher ratio will increase China s real GDP in the
short run. Since it takes several years for China to change its economic structure toward consumption,
the accumulation of each larger real GDP in the short run will result in a much larger real GDP in the
long run. In other words, the increase in consumption will increase China s economic growth rate
indirectly. Therefore, this study uses a macroeconmetric model of Chinese economy to quantify what
China s real GDP would be in a series of increases in the ratio of consumption over output, spread
over a long period of time and predicts what China s real GDP level will be in the future

Comparative Ebay and Taobao
A Comparative Study between eBay and Taobao in Chinese Online Auction Market

1 Introduction
Being the largest online trading company, eBay has launched websites across the world, including
thirty other countries in addition to its original U.S. website. China, with its large online market, is one
of these countries. In 2003, after its cooperation with Eachnet, the first C2C online company in China,
eBay became the largest online trading company in China, controlled 90 percent of the Chinese C2C
market (Zazaian, 2006). The success continued until Taobao, a completely free online C2C platform,

Also, eBay has lowered listing fee a lot since 2005, but this didn t slow down Taobao s growth.
Therefore, free listing is not the key reason for Taobao s success. Indeed, feeling they are benefiting,
customers may even willing to pay.
Target Market
The first action for both eBay and Taobao in China is to identify their target markets. When eBay
launched in China, it identified its target customers as those well educated, familiar with the Internet,
earning a monthly payment over 3,000 RMB, and 20 40 years old (Chen et al., 2007). Indicated by
Shixiong Wu, CEO of eBay China, these mainstream customers are very important to eBay as they
help with the healthy growth of electronic market (as cited in Chen et al., 2007). On the other side of
the Chinese online market, Taobao decided to focus on Chinese customers who are between 20 and 30
years old with good education levels, after analyzing China s C2C market for four months. They
believe that in a decade, these online shoppers will become mainstream consumers who will influence
the buying habits of the whole country (Alibaba, 2006). Comparing the target markets of eBay and
Taobao, it is clear that though they all target at young people, Taobao s target market is much broader
and includes students, while eBay s target customers are professionals who have salaries. Shown by
the survey results, in 2007, student buyers made up a quarter of all customers,

Hitler had special plans for Denmark. He regarded Denmark as a fellow Aryan nation that shared its
Nordic roots with Germany. According to Nazi ideology s scale of racial standing, the Aryan race
represented by the German elite was superior. The Nordic race was a close second and the most
authoritative dogmatists [including Alfred Rosenberg and Joseph Goebbels] of the Nazi creed have
repeatedly pointed to Scandinavia as the true home of the glorious Nordic race. In addition, Hitler also

An Analysis of Oedipus and Aristotle s Definition of the Tragic Hero
Introduction
In the Poetics, Aristotle provides an outline of how the artist is to portray or represent the perfect
Tragedy. A Tragedy, of course, was nothing more than a drama, in which the characters appeared
better than in real life (in a comedy, they appeared worse, according to Aristotle). Aristotle s Poetics
makes several references to other dramatic works to illustrate his points, but he most commonly calls
upon The Odyssey to support his argument for how a dramatic structure should be designed. However,
along with the Odyssey, Aristotle extensively references Sophocles Oedipus Rex. Both poetic works
were enormously popular in their time (the former had been passed down orally for generations, and
the latter won the top prizes at the dramatic festivals). Therefore, Aristotle is comfortable using both to
support his viewpoint concerning Tragedy and the Tragic Hero. This paper will analyze the standards
that Aristotle sets out concerning the definition of the Tragic Hero and show how Sophocles Oedipus
exemplifies Aristotle s definition of a Tragic Hero.
The Tragedy Before beginning, however, it is necessary to examine the aim of Tragedy. A Tragic
work, according to Aristotle, was simply one that showed men as better than they typically are in
everyday reality. Tragedy served to show mankind at his noblest, without, however, depicting man as
unreal or unbelievable. To represent a noble man

analyse the factors that cause differences in the hazards posed by volcanoes around the world (40
marks)
A hazard is a situation that poses a level of threat tolife, health, property or environment. The level of
hazard posed by different volcanoes can very greatly, from a weak eruption with minimal impact that
causes little damage, to a voilent and life threatening explosion. Most of the sixty plus volcanoes that
erupt each year are low risk, however a combination of factors can cause a volcano to be a serious
hazard. The factors causing these variations will be explained in this essay.
The first factor that must be considered is the viscosity of the magma. This can determine how
powerful an eruption is and what shape the volcano ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anpother factor that can have an impact on the level of hazard posed by a volcano is the type of plate
margin on which it occurs. Volcanoes occuring at constructive plate boundaries are usually much less
violent than those occuring at destructive plate boundaries. This is because the magma produced by
plates moving apart is Basic, and therefoe has a low viscosity, allowing it to flow easily. The lava is
produced from a central vent or fissure and erupts regularly but not usually violently.
Also, constructive plate boundaries are often found under the sea and create submarine volcanoes, such
as along the Mid Atalntic ridge, so pose few threats to humans. As a result, the hazards posed by
volcanoes at constructive plat eboundaries is relatively low. However, the subduction of one plate
under another at destrctive plat eboundaries can form an acidic magma chamber, due to the build up of
intense heat. Acidic magma is very viscous and resisitant to flow, meaning that there is often a huge
build up of pressure, which can result in very violent and dangerous eruptions involving ash and
pyroclastic flow. This can pose a a serious hazard. Pyroclastic flowsa are extremely dense, containing
toxic gases at very high temperatures, and can move at speeds over 100km/h. The consequences of
such an unpredictable hazard can be extremely seruous

1. Yes the results support my hypothesis, which was, as the temperature increases the resistances
decreases. For example the resistance at 20OC was ______ and at 50OC it was ______ which was
much lower.
Also the graph shows a negative correlation with a curve of best fit. This shows the relationship is not
Ohmic as it is not a straight line.
2. EITHER;
Yes I had an anomalous result, it was at a temperature of __OC. It was higher/lower (select the correct
one) than it should have been. If the resistance at this temperature had been on my line of best fit the
value should have been _____ Ohms(read this off your graph).

6. The smallest interval was 10OC, i.e. the difference between 20OC and 30OC. Yes this was a
suitable interval because by moving from 20OC to 30OC there was a difference in the resistance of
_____ Ohms. It was also possible to see a pattern in the results using intervals of 10OC. However to
create a more accurate line of best fit I could have used intervals of 5OC. If I had the resistance value
of 15OC would have been ______ Ohms (read this off your graph).
CIRCLE the anomalous results in BOTH the table of results and graph if you have any. Make sure you
say;
a. Whether each result is a higher or lower value than it should be.
b. What could have caused it, the best answers for this are;
i. If it was too high, the thermistor was not given time to warm to the temperature of the water bath
and therefore was taking a reading at a lower temperature. ii. If it was too low the temperature must
have been higher than thought. The way this could have happened is if the thermistor was held close
to the heating element in the water bath and been in a hot spot.
7. The results could be useful because in the context a company is always making a product which
will turn something on (a thermostat in a house central heating system, fire alarm in a room which has
got hot) or off (a kettle when the water is at 100OC). The manufacture needs to know the resistance at
the temperatures which are important for these functions, so that they can

Plato and the Republic Essay
The Sun of Knowledge:
Platonic Epistemology as Discussed in The Republic
The history of philosophy can be viewed as the result of the work of an obscure Athenian whose
voluminous works, penetrating questions, novel ideas, and didactic teachings have shaped the flow of
nearly all philosophic thought. It has been said that the influence of the ancient Greek philosopher
named Plato has laid the foundation for Western culture. Plato was born to an aristocratic family in
Athens in 428/427 B.C. As a young man, Plato studied poetry, but later under the tutelage of the
famed Socrates, turned to philosophy, who introduced him to the ethical importance of the pursuit of
wisdom. Plato was also influenced by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the purpose of this essay to give an analysis of Plato s theory of the cause of knowledge in the
idea of the good through his illustration of the sun and determine how his theory relates to his question
of justice.
The Forms
Plato in the Republic assumes the reader has an understanding of his doctrine of the forms, thus an
introduction to his doctrine is imperative before a discussion of his illustration of the sun can begin.
Plato was an idealist, meaning that ideas comprise what is ultimately real in this world. This is
antithetical to his student Aristotle who held that material was ultimately real. The Renaissance painter
Raphael illustrates these two contrasting positions in his famous painting The School of Athens.
Raphael depicts Plato with his arm stretched out, pointing to the sky (implying that ideas are real), and
Aristotle with his hand spread, pointing down to the earth (implying that material is real).
For Plato, ideas, or forms, are intelligible, distinct, eternal patterns of which the objects on earth are
mere reflections. Each object on earth has a corresponding form. For example, there is a single form
of a chair, and all other chairs (whether three legged or four, metal or wood) are flawed copies of the
ultimate, changeless form of the chair. Plato is concerned with the nature of existence. What is the
substance of

Inherent Thoughtfulness And Emotionalism In Life Is Beautiful
Life can be very beautiful. In contrast, life for many people during World War 2 was not so beautiful.
During this time, the world was at war. Gladly, during all the madness, in 1945 innocent people broke
free, and concentration camps were liberated. The film Life is Beautiful, Guido demonstrated the three
qualities; Inherent thoughtfulness and emotionality, expressive coherence, and wholeness and unity.
Guido demonstrates the first quality, inherent thoughtfulness and emotionality, when he first arrives at
the Nazi Concentration Camp after him and his son were taken from their home in Northern Italy by
local German officials. Guido is playing against his own emotions by setting aside all his personal
worries and doubts to do everything possible to be sure his son stays positive. Even though he realizes
that he just lost the chance to say goodbye to his wife, Dora, and what his son is about to experience,
he still plays the role of a sanguine character. When Guido played against his own emotions it showed
the audience what Guido mentally and emotionally would be willing to put himself through to protect
his family and dignity as a Jew. As a father, and the greatest role model his son will ever have, Guido
protected his son from the dangerous world that he knew was up ahead. This environment found in the
Concentration Camp is something that no young child should ever have to endure at such a young age.

Television Shows and Offensive Language
Offensive language is a part of television that has increased dramatically over the past decades. Public
television shows such as Family Guy, Southpark, The Office, Tosh.0 and countless others are riddled
with offensive jokes that target nearly every group of people on the planet. With so much offensive
language it is hard not to question whether or not this is completely changing how offensive media is
perceived outside of the media. These shows have jokes that use negative stereotypes on almost all
races. Often times they ridicule minority groups, by portraying them with this negative stereotypes.
This research proposal is very important because with the extremely high popularity of some of these
shows with offensive language, and how public they are, it could be affecting the younger generation
into believing that this is acceptable. We know that this could be a problem because of theories in
media such as the Cultivation Theory, Social Learning Theory, and Perceived Reality. My research
question is how does watching television with offensive language affect the viewing audience when
they hear offensive language outside of the television shows. Specifically my research would target
high school students who watch one or more television shows with offensive language, and how
acceptable they believe offensive language to be inside and outside of these shows. It is important to
view the high school students, because they are the future parents and leaders of the

presented positively as well as negatively through the dialogue in the film. In doing this Grant shows

The Countdown to Humiliation Day
What began as a shortage in the Canadian labour market ended with one of the most revolting and
atrocious displays of prejudice and discrimination against an entire country and culture of people. The
events leading up to Humiliation Day brought forth a legalized intolerance that would leave an
inescapable bruise on Canadian history.
South Asians have long since endured the brunt of intense prejudice at the hands of Canadians and the
Canadian government. A most prevalent discrimination against the Chinese was seen in Western
Canada, mainly British Columbia. In the mid 1800s, it was the general consensus among Canadians

and given little to no recognition for their work or contributions to the project. They were grossly

The Canadian Pacific Railways saw its completion in November of 1885 as the last spike was driven

the project drawing near they began to become outraged at the outsourcing of jobs once they reckoned
that the extraneous work was over and the Chinese were no longer need. Workers rallied to have the
Chinese removed from Canada and to limit future immigration.
Provincial and federal governments were met with pressures to control and discourage the flow of the
Chinese and they responded on July 20, 1885 with the implementation of the Chinese Immigration
Act. This Act imposed a $50 head tax that each Chinese person was forced pay in order to gain entry

were forced to pay a fee of fifty cents to register their status with local authorities and their travel was
controlled and monitored by government officials. Small concessions were granted to a select few,

Along with the team, a physical therapist assistant will also help with the evaluation of a patient s condition, An evaluation can include measuring the patient s strength, range of motion, and functional ability; that is, how well the patient performs certain physical tasks (Mayo Clinic). Once the evaluation is done, the physical therapist will develop a treatment plan for the patient that the physical therapist assistant has to carry out (Mayo Clinic). When carrying out this treatment plan, the physical therapist assistant must observe [the patient] before and during therapy, [take note of] their status and [report] to a physical therapist (Bureau of Labor Statistics). If a procedure it a little more complicated both the physical therapist and the assistant will work alongside each other to get the job done. Under Sonia s leadership, the company had just completed its first dynamic bidding pilot tests and as a result, cut its sourcing costs by 30 percent. Given these results, the potential for cost cutting via the implementation of a dynamic bidding system on a widespread scale at Sun was enormous; on an annual basis, the company was currently spending about $9 billion in direct materials procurement. • 6. The Starry Night The Starry Night The starry night is painting by Vincent van Goh done in 1889. The painting is inspired by the night view. It is a painting that was done by oil on canvas just as the way traditional paintings are done. However, the starry night was not painted at night as expected. It was done during day using van Goh s imagination. According to van Goh, he always expressed his liking to draw a painting portraying the sky at night. Van Goh s works on the starry night was inspired by the night skies and surroundings of the asylum where he was receiving treatment due to breakdowns (Brooks, 2012). The title of the painting, the starry night , goes hand in hand with what the painting tries to describe. The painting reflects emotions and expressiveness. A group of curvy black lines that seem to originate from a point dominate the left side of the painting. There is a town on the lower right that extends up to the hills. As the title goes, the painting is set at night. The sky has been done in a swirl that bursts out in to blues, greens and gentle yellow. The center part of the painting is the moon which is shown by a yellow dot. The dark lines that stark up on the right side tend to stand for a plant. The town is marked by small dots on the houses perhaps showing electricity lights or lamp lights sealing the fact that painting setting is night time. The objective of the painter was to depict the night time in a small town. The painting has its kind of mystery because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Polls in the media Abstract The aim of this analytical essay was to investigate the reliability and accuracy of polls in the media. The report includes both the strengths and weakness of the three selected polls, two of which were conducted over the internet and the remaining over the telephone. This investigation is aimed to look in depth at the methods of survey and the variables within it that may or may not have sufficiently controlled or not. After the research that had been done, it was evident that there were many faults in the survey system. Introduction Polls are a casting of votes that are supplied to a targeted audience, these audiences range from 18 to 50 years although this can vary depending on the subject of the questionnaire. A poll is a specific question supplied to the public in order to gain an average opinion on the matter. The participants can then choose one of the multiple answers that are predefined. A survey is similar to a poll in some ways such as the series of questions provided to civilians to answer, the only discrepancy between the two is that there is a wider range of question types. There many different types of polls such as a push poll, opinion poll, benchmark poll, brushfire poll entrance polls and exit polls. Seamus Heaney s and Dylan Thomas s poems show that they believe in that principle. However, DH Lawrence s poems show that he did not have a happy childhood and he makes that point abundantly clear. In Death of a Naturalist , Heaney shows that he once had a love of nature but, after one incident, he lost that love forever. The structure of the poem shows his change of opinion: the first verse uses adjectives and nice images that infer that the subject he is talking about is one that he likes; but the style of language changes in the second verse where the vocabulary used shows the reader that the poet now does not like his poem subject at all. • 14. The Death Of Ivan Ilych Sigmund Freud, the founder of modern day psychology and psychoanalysis, described human consciousness as the combination of three elements, id, ego and superego. The id is what controls our personal desires, the superego controls our ideas about where we fit in society and the ego is in between these two elements balancing their effects to help us make rational decisions. Despite the fact that these theories were developed well after Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary or Tolstoy wrote The Death of Ivan Ilych the main characters of each (Emma and Ivan) both represent people who have become dominated by one aspect of their subconscious. Whereas Emma is dominated by her id, seeking only selfish pleasures in life, Ivan is dominated by his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This attitude of Emma is most apparent in a scene towards the end of the novel in which Emma attends a masquerade ball with Leon in Rouen. After the dance they go to a seedy restaurant where Emma has a fainting spell. After recovering, she thought of Berthe, sleeping in the maid s room back in Yonville (252). After a loud cart rumbles by, disrupting her train of thought, the next thing she thinks is everything, including herself, seemed unbearable to her. She wished she could fly away like a bird and make herself young again somewhere in the vast purity of space (252). Here, Flaubert juxtaposes the image of Emma s pre school aged child sleeping with her desire to restart her life and try again. These contrasting images powerfully show Emma s indifference towards her child, and reveal her complete selfishness. While her feelings towards her daughter show how Emma is controlled by her id, she also displays a lack of superego function, as she commonly is unconcerned with the rules of society. At the peak of her relationships with both Rodolphe and Leon, Emma defiantly chooses to not to care if she is seen in public with her lovers. This lack of discretion finally works against her when one day in Rouen, Monsieur Lheureux met her as she was leaving the Hôtel de Boulogne on Leon s arm. She was frightened, for she was sure he would talk. But he was not foolish enough to do that. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Modern Concept Of Lean Management The modern concept of lean management as used today can be traced back to the Toyota Production System (TPS). The manufacturing philosophy was pioneered by Japanese engineers to emphasize the minimization of waste and focus on doing it right the first time (Davis and Heineke, 2005). Engineers knew that waste was something that customers were not willing to pay for thus they should try and eliminate it. This led to the discovery that inventory is essentially waste. Keeping parts and products in stock adds no value to a company, and should be eliminated. Although lean production began in Japan, it now has been successfully implemented across the globe (Agus and Hajinoor, 2012). The integrated activity, know as lean production in supply chain management, is designed to achieve high volume flexible production using very minimal inventories of raw materials. This is based on the idea that nothing will be produced until it is need. The process is implemented throughout the supply chain with the signal essentially moving backwards from the customer all the way back to raw materials. Lean production is an entire new way of thinking which includes the integration of vision, culture, and strategy to serve the customer with high quality, low cost, and short delivery times (Shook and Womack, 2015). Lean production is generally described from two points of view, either from a philosophical perspective related to guiding principles and overarching goals, or from the practical ... Most new acquaintances at college will be drinkers: recent research indicating that four out of five college students drink. In addition, college peers tend to be more approving of alcohol use. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the book Crash Into Me by Liz Seccuro, the audience is taught one of the leading consequence of alcoholism; rape. Some of the major causes of Alcoholism in college are: availability of alcohol(Pg. 44), social pressure(Pg. 46), and genetic susceptibility to alcohol. Exploring the causes of alcoholism helps lead to the conclusion that alcohol is a huge part of college culture and there needs to be a policy to help prevent alcoholistic incidents (like what happened in Crash Into Me) from happening. One policy that can help with the problem of alcoholism in college is; imposing liability to the social host that is responsible for the underaged drinking at the party. This policy proposes the idea that social hosts are in violation of: furnishing alcohol to a minor, and allowing underaged drinking to occur on property that they control. Thus leading to the point that; the social host may be prosecuted by the State under a criminal statute and face a fine or imprisonment for the criminal violation (Alcohol Policy Information System n.d.). This policy can be considered neutral because it contains both conservative and liberal aspects. The policy proposes more of a moral stance on who s responsible for the events that happen at the party and the results of what the alcohol does to the underaged drinkers after the party. The idea of this policy is that the social host is responsible(as well as the person who committed the crime) and receives a fine or imprisonment for the violation of the law. This policy would help alcoholism in college because the social hosts would be more vigilant about who drinks or does drugs at a party that takes place on property that they control. For example; a Fraternity decides to throw a party, the fraternity mother/father would be in charge of knowing who is drinking and would attempt to imply precautions to avoid a violation of the law that would ultimately have them face imprisonment ... • 23. China s Economic Growth Is Unstable, Unbalanced,... In the National People s Congress press conference in March 2007, China s Premier Wen Jiabao argues the biggest problem with China s economy is that its economic growth is unstable, unbalanced, uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Since export and investment play unsustainable roles in increasing China s real GDP, this study tries to testify how consumption enhances the sustainability of China s real GDP in the short run over a long period of time. As Krugman (1994) suggests, increase in the economic growth rate in the steady state can only be attained by the technological progress. However, it is also true that the increase in consumption will increase the real GDP in the short run. Based on the fact that the current ratio of consumption over output in China is much smaller than that of other countries, such as Japan and the United States, a higher ratio will increase China s real GDP in the short run. Since it takes several years for China to change its economic structure toward consumption, the accumulation of each larger real GDP in the short run will result in a much larger real GDP in the long run. In other words, the increase in consumption will increase China s economic growth rate indirectly. Therefore, this study uses a macroeconmetric model of Chinese economy to quantify what China s real GDP would be in a series of increases in the ratio of consumption over output, spread over a long period of time and predicts what China s real GDP level will be in the future ... The Nordic race was a close second and the most authoritative dogmatists [including Alfred Rosenberg and Joseph Goebbels] of the Nazi creed have repeatedly pointed to Scandinavia as the true home of the glorious Nordic race. In addition, Hitler also believed specifically that the peninsula that makes up the majority of Denmark, the Jutland, was mythically the ancestral home of the Nordic race. • 28. An Analysis of Oedipus and Aristotle s Definition of the... An Analysis of Oedipus and Aristotle s Definition of the Tragic Hero Introduction In the Poetics, Aristotle provides an outline of how the artist is to portray or represent the perfect Tragedy. A Tragedy, of course, was nothing more than a drama, in which the characters appeared better than in real life (in a comedy, they appeared worse, according to Aristotle). Aristotle s Poetics makes several references to other dramatic works to illustrate his points, but he most commonly calls upon The Odyssey to support his argument for how a dramatic structure should be designed. However, along with the Odyssey, Aristotle extensively references Sophocles Oedipus Rex. Both poetic works were enormously popular in their time (the former had been passed down orally for generations, and the latter won the top prizes at the dramatic festivals). Therefore, Aristotle is comfortable using both to support his viewpoint concerning Tragedy and the Tragic Hero. This paper will analyze the standards that Aristotle sets out concerning the definition of the Tragic Hero and show how Sophocles Oedipus exemplifies Aristotle s definition of a Tragic Hero. The Tragedy Before beginning, however, it is necessary to examine the aim of Tragedy. A Tragic work, according to Aristotle, was simply one that showed men as better than they typically are in everyday reality. Tragedy served to show mankind at his noblest, without, however, depicting man as unreal or unbelievable. To represent a noble man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The level of hazard posed by different volcanoes can very greatly, from a weak eruption with minimal impact that causes little damage, to a voilent and life threatening explosion. Most of the sixty plus volcanoes that erupt each year are low risk, however a combination of factors can cause a volcano to be a serious hazard. The factors causing these variations will be explained in this essay. The first factor that must be considered is the viscosity of the magma. This can determine how powerful an eruption is and what shape the volcano ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anpother factor that can have an impact on the level of hazard posed by a volcano is the type of plate margin on which it occurs. Volcanoes occuring at constructive plate boundaries are usually much less violent than those occuring at destructive plate boundaries. This is because the magma produced by plates moving apart is Basic, and therefoe has a low viscosity, allowing it to flow easily. The lava is produced from a central vent or fissure and erupts regularly but not usually violently. Also, constructive plate boundaries are often found under the sea and create submarine volcanoes, such as along the Mid Atalntic ridge, so pose few threats to humans. As a result, the hazards posed by volcanoes at constructive plat eboundaries is relatively low. However, the subduction of one plate under another at destrctive plat eboundaries can form an acidic magma chamber, due to the build up of intense heat. Acidic magma is very viscous and resisitant to flow, meaning that there is often a huge build up of pressure, which can result in very violent and dangerous eruptions involving ash and pyroclastic flow. This can pose a a serious hazard. Pyroclastic flowsa are extremely dense, containing toxic gases at very high temperatures, and can move at speeds over 100km/h. The consequences of such an unpredictable hazard can be extremely seruous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yes the results support my hypothesis, which was, as the temperature increases the resistances decreases. For example the resistance at 20OC was ______ and at 50OC it was ______ which was much lower. Also the graph shows a negative correlation with a curve of best fit. This shows the relationship is not Ohmic as it is not a straight line. 2. It was also possible to see a pattern in the results using intervals of 10OC. However to create a more accurate line of best fit I could have used intervals of 5OC. If I had the resistance value of 15OC would have been ______ Ohms (read this off your graph). CIRCLE the anomalous results in BOTH the table of results and graph if you have any. Make sure you say; a. Whether each result is a higher or lower value than it should be. b. What could have caused it, the best answers for this are; i. If it was too high, the thermistor was not given time to warm to the temperature of the water bath and therefore was taking a reading at a lower temperature. ii. If it was too low the temperature must have been higher than thought. The way this could have happened is if the thermistor was held close to the heating element in the water bath and been in a hot spot. 7. Plato and the Republic Essay The Sun of Knowledge: Platonic Epistemology as Discussed in The Republic The history of philosophy can be viewed as the result of the work of an obscure Athenian whose voluminous works, penetrating questions, novel ideas, and didactic teachings have shaped the flow of nearly all philosophic thought. It has been said that the influence of the ancient Greek philosopher named Plato has laid the foundation for Western culture. Plato was born to an aristocratic family in Athens in 428/427 B.C. As a young man, Plato studied poetry, but later under the tutelage of the famed Socrates, turned to philosophy, who introduced him to the ethical importance of the pursuit of wisdom. Plato was also influenced by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the purpose of this essay to give an analysis of Plato s theory of the cause of knowledge in the idea of the good through his illustration of the sun and determine how his theory relates to his question of justice. The Forms Plato in the Republic assumes the reader has an understanding of his doctrine of the forms, thus an introduction to his doctrine is imperative before a discussion of his illustration of the sun can begin. Plato was an idealist, meaning that ideas comprise what is ultimately real in this world. This is antithetical to his student Aristotle who held that material was ultimately real. The Renaissance painter Raphael illustrates these two contrasting positions in his famous painting The School of Athens. Raphael depicts Plato with his arm stretched out, pointing to the sky (implying that ideas are real), and Aristotle with his hand spread, pointing down to the earth (implying that material is real). For Plato, ideas, or forms, are intelligible, distinct, eternal patterns of which the objects on earth are mere reflections. Each object on earth has a corresponding form. For example, there is a single form of a chair, and all other chairs (whether three legged or four, metal or wood) are flawed copies of the ultimate, changeless form of the chair. Plato is concerned with the nature of existence. What is the substance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During this time, the world was at war. Gladly, during all the madness, in 1945 innocent people broke free, and concentration camps were liberated. The film Life is Beautiful, Guido demonstrated the three qualities; Inherent thoughtfulness and emotionality, expressive coherence, and wholeness and unity. Guido demonstrates the first quality, inherent thoughtfulness and emotionality, when he first arrives at the Nazi Concentration Camp after him and his son were taken from their home in Northern Italy by local German officials. Guido is playing against his own emotions by setting aside all his personal worries and doubts to do everything possible to be sure his son stays positive. Even though he realizes that he just lost the chance to say goodbye to his wife, Dora, and what his son is about to experience, he still plays the role of a sanguine character. When Guido played against his own emotions it showed the audience what Guido mentally and emotionally would be willing to put himself through to protect his family and dignity as a Jew. As a father, and the greatest role model his son will ever have, Guido protected his son from the dangerous world that he knew was up ahead. This environment found in the Concentration Camp is something that no young child should ever have to endure at such a young age. Public television shows such as Family Guy, Southpark, The Office, Tosh.0 and countless others are riddled with offensive jokes that target nearly every group of people on the planet. With so much offensive language it is hard not to question whether or not this is completely changing how offensive media is perceived outside of the media. These shows have jokes that use negative stereotypes on almost all races. Often times they ridicule minority groups, by portraying them with this negative stereotypes. This research proposal is very important because with the extremely high popularity of some of these shows with offensive language, and how public they are, it could be affecting the younger generation into believing that this is acceptable. We know that this could be a problem because of theories in media such as the Cultivation Theory, Social Learning Theory, and Perceived Reality. My research question is how does watching television with offensive language affect the viewing audience when they hear offensive language outside of the television shows. Specifically my research would target high school students who watch one or more television shows with offensive language, and how acceptable they believe offensive language to be inside and outside of these shows. It is important to view the high school students, because they are the future parents and leaders of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Canadian Pacific Railways saw its completion in November of 1885 as the last spike was driven in at Craigellachie, British Columbia. As domestic labourers and union confederates saw the end of the project drawing near they began to become outraged at the outsourcing of jobs once they reckoned that the extraneous work was over and the Chinese were no longer need. Workers rallied to have the Chinese removed from Canada and to limit future immigration. Provincial and federal governments were met with pressures to control and discourage the flow of the Chinese and they responded on July 20, 1885 with the implementation of the Chinese Immigration Act.
