Cache
Cache located between CPU and RAM. It is a high speed memory that accelerates CPU to exchange
information from RAM (Shelly, et al, 2008). Cache works in a frequently accessible files and
programs in the computer so it can be processed in shorter time. For example, a secretary s computer
which used for typing a lot will have its word processing program opened faster than the other staffs
computer.
Secondary storage * Stokes (2008) states that secondary storage is used for saving files and
information in the matter of capacity. When programs are installed into the computer or files are
inserted, secondary memory is the place where all the stuffs are put into. It gives information about
how much computer can store data in its system. Files, programs, and other stuffs that put in
secondary storage are saved permanently in the system. So, when the computer is off, the stuffs will
stay at the same state and condition without having any lost parts.
Picture 2.1 Secondary storage works like cloth drawers for computers. As long as there is a space, it is
fine to put more things. Image source: http://corriehaffly.wordpress.com
There are various forms of secondary storage. Some attached in CPU and some is separated from
computer. These are the kinds of it.

Jim Poss Case Study 1. Who is Jim Poss a. Jim Poss demonstrates a strong passion for project even
after so many people shot down the idea. His passion translates into determination to getting the idea
out to potential customers/investors. Taking risks like going into solar power when the trend was
heading toward wind and selling his product even though he didn t have a finished product to sell. And
he craves learning, working 3 jobs, double major and a minor plus an MBA before working his new

would you use terms, programs to counter anticipated customer challenges to purchase? Tell the

Why Does The Mirror Image Rule Still Apply In Certain...
Why does the Mirror Image rule still apply in certain business scenarios? Why has the UCC largely
discarded the mirror image rule, while it still persists in various parts of the common law? Discuss
whether the complexity of the UCC 2 207 is or is not preferable to the simplicity of the mirror image
rule. Covered by the accepted rules, it is a necessity that the printed composition, offer and
acceptance, make a Mirror Image of one another for an agreement to happen. If there exists dissimilar
agreements and circumstances, indifferent of their relevance, there would exist no deal. Even though
the Mirror Image rule had the benefit of being understandable and not difficult to put into use, it didn t
echo the facts of the current era commercial business. So in Article Two of the UCC, that is relevant to
business dealings, the Mirror Image rule was interchanged by UCC 2 207. That arrangement
acknowledges that an agreement can happen still where the proposal and agreement weren t exact.
Covered by UCC 2 207, all exact and appropriate verbalization of agreement will shape a deal despite
of if it includes unlike conditions except when agreement is purposely created dependent on
acknowledgement to the extra or contrasting circumstances. Additionally, although the persons
arrangements are so entirely different that no composed agreement is brought into existence, UCC 2
207(3) understands that the individuals behavior can however produce an agreement. UCC 2 207

Case Study Of Bain Company
1 Introduction
The global consulting industry has generated $240 billion revenues in 2015 and as such represents one
of the largest markets within the professional services industry (Consultancy.uk, n.d.). Even if strategy
consulting constitutes solely 12% market share (i.e., $28.8 billion) it is the most prestigious sector
(Consultancy.uk, n.d.). While other sectors of the consulting industry can be delineated rather easily,
strategy consulting occupies a special position. Companies of that sector not solely provide strategy
consulting services, but consulting services of other sectors alike, however from a purely strategic
point of view. Upon closer inspection of the strategy consulting industry, it becomes apparent that the
market is clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the former constitutes the functional positioning of its organizational units, the latter describes a
pattern of shared basic assumptions that was learned by a group as it solved its problems of external
adaptation and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and, therefore,
to be taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to those
problems (Schein, 2004, p. 17).
Due to the characteristics of the business model of strategy consulting, Bain Company s organizational
structure differs significantly from other industries. Although there is a global, albeit confidential,
organizational structure, Bain Company is primarily structured by office whose organizational units
are exhibited in Figure 1. Directed by Office Management, the organizational structure on office level
is divided into two main pillars: Consulting Staff and Consulting Support Services (Bain Company
Inc., n.d. l). While consulting employees are generally not split across the various consulting services
(see Chapter 2.3.1), the particular dynamics of private equity consulting require a temporary
separation of those selected consulting employees. Furthermore, although Executive/Manager
Assistants constitute a consulting support service, the daily interaction with their assigned managers,
principals, and partners (the latter two represent executive organizational levels) creates a strong link
between these organizational

Spirituality And Religiosity
While consensus among researchers on the definition of spirituality and religiosity is lacking, what it
means to be spiritual or religious and what constitutes a spiritual person in the literature is still very
highly researched (Stranahan, 2008). Many definitions of religiosity and spirituality include religious
service attendance, some sort of meaning and purpose in life, personal strength to cope with
difficulties, and believing in a higher being (Stranahan, 2008). Older adults tend to have stronger faith
and greater spirituality than younger populations (Moberg, 2005). This difference in spirituality
between younger populations and older adults is possibly tied to the deepening of spiritual interests
and concern during the later years (Moberg, 2005, p. 15). Older adults tend to become more religious,
or turn to religion more as they age, instead of maintaining a high level of religiosity throughout their
lives (Moberg, 2005). Spirituality and religiosity are very important to the aging process due to the
connection observed in many studies between spiritual health and physical and mental health and well
being, with religion having protective health effects. Much research has been conducted on the
association between religion and spirituality and physical and mental health outcomes, especially
among older adults. This paper will summarize the recent findings related to religion and spirituality
and health in older adults, including a discussion on the theory of

Conflict, Dispute, And Negotiation
Distinguish between the concepts of conflict, dispute, and negotiation. Examine their differences as
well as how they relate to each other. Conflict is a struggle; clashing of views or statements . (Cope,
2014) A dispute would be a controversy or disagreement that pushes a person s buttons to make them
prove another person wrong. (Cope, 2014) Negotiation however, is the process or attempt at resolving
a conflict that has elevated into a dispute. People come across conflicts daily as humans and rarely
agree with each other. Conflicts arise due to how an individual views something that happened; an
action that took place or even a statement or opinion that is expressed. Conflict, disputes, and
negotiation are interrelated to each other. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first topic I found interesting in this course is the Levels of Conflict Model. I had never
contemplated or understood the levels of conflict before. It creates perfect sense that each level would
progress up to the next level. Starting with life experiences, until a life experience is perceived as
being harmful, it stays just an experience. After viewing a life experience as a harmful experience, the
persons thought process automatically flows into who or what to blame for this experience, escalating
the conflict to the blaming level. Then once one figures out who or what to blame they either stop
there, as did the author Joey Cope of our course materials did in his piece Defining the Levels of
Conflict (Cope, 2014) or consequently, they move on to the claiming step. Once at the claiming step
their needs can range from an apology to monetary demands depending on how severe the experience
is deemed to be. All of which would fulfill the need for justice, although if the other party is not
willing to provide this justice, then the need further escalates the conflict to a dispute ending with a
negotiator, a lawyer, and/ or in a courtroom. Understanding how conflict escalates can only render a
negotiator more effective. It can help the negotiator de escalate conflict, or in disputes, assist parties in
understanding one s perspective. Understanding how one came to the blaming level and/or claiming
level of the perceived harmful life experience can be valuable

How Does Hamilton Portray Aron Burrr
The musical Hamilton does not portray Aron Burr as a Villain throughout but rather a character who
the reader can feel sympathetic for, instead he is portrayed as someone who is seen as equal by the
public to Alexander Hamilton or even superior but is consistently shown as inferior to Alexander
Hamilton. This is shown in how he acted when in competition with Alexander Hamilton, the
protagonist of Hamilton, when it came time to choose an assistant for George Washington, but also
shown in the remorse he had when he killed Alexander Hamilton. In the musical Hamilton, Aron Burr
is shown in competition with Alexander Hamilton for the role to assist George Washington in the
revolutionary war. Burr is shown trying to win general Washington over in the song Right Hand Man
(62)
Burr: Your Excellency, Sir!
Washington: Who are you? Burr: Aron Burr sir? Permission to state my case?
Aron Burr is desperate to gain the generals trust and to impress him with his plans for the war with the
British. His constant use of Sir isn t seen elsewhere throughout the musical and really puts forth the
respect Burr has for general Washington. Later in the song Alexander Hamilton comes in upon request

Who Is Henry James The Turn Of The Screw
Henry James
The Turn of the Screw
For my chosen text I found interest in Henry James s The Turn of the Screw. I discovered the Sherlock
Holmes, investigative and suspense type short story to be, right up my alley. That and the mention of
ghosts made me excited. I grew up in a haunted house and love ghost stories. I have tried to read
romance in the past and I have enjoyed it. Allowing for possibilities such as horror and the fantastic
while excluding psychoanalysis as an approach to the text. (Lee 2007) I soon fell in love, once I
combined romance and horror. That s what I love to read and write. I have not uncovered all the
depths to this piece of fiction, but I am looking forward to it.
The Turn of the of Screw was written in 1898 by Henry James. I found from my summarized readings,
the theories that would deepen my understanding of this short novel. They are the Psychoanalytic and
Feminist criticism theories. The plot centers around a young governess hired to watch over the niece
and nephew of an absent, wealthy businessman at his country estate in Essex. She falls in love with
the children: a ten year old boy named Miles, and an eight year old girl named Flora. (Parkinson 1991)

The Overlooked Area Of Poverty Essay
The overlooked area
Looking at the MDGs as the whole, poverty reduction was the central theme in the development
agenda; it was aimed to cut in half proportion of the population living below $1 a day from around 30
percent of the developing countries by 2015 (United Nations, 2005). Even though these targets have
been almost achieved; it was predicted that there are about 825 million of citizen still live in extreme
poverty and 800 million still suffer from inadequate hunger (FAO, 2015). Thus, fighting against
poverty and hunger remains the enormous challenge. Then, an inevitable question arises as to whether
the persistence of poverty was well defined. FAO (2015) also have noticed that extreme poverty
mainly occurs in rural areas where the majority of poor people depend on agriculture. The condition of
relying on agriculture means that primary source of food and income for those poor people come from
agriculture that they have made. Unfortunately, agriculture was not prioritized at the goal and target
levels. Agriculture was mentioned at the indicator level under target three of goal eight (Develop a
Global Partnership for Development). It was set to measure market access, which was seen as a huge
gap that agriculture was overlooked in the MDGs.
The relevance of agriculture to other goals
Relooking at the connection between agriculture and each of the goal is considered as a reflective
process for better implications in the next goal development. For goal 1, Eradicate

Elizabethan Er The Era Of Beauty And Fascination
Elizabethan Era Clothing
The Elizabethan era was an extraordinarily fashion era for both man and women, a time when
everything was changing from the fifteenth century simple dress to extravagant and dramatic styles
which we call Elizabethan fashion. At that time, new styles, modern yet unique fabrics, charm colors,
sharp design and glamor silhouette were evolving. Every layer and piece of Elizabethan outfit was
equally important, from the fancy dress to the smallest details. Definitely, the Elizabethan era was the
time of beauty and fascination. In fact, during the Elizabethan time clothing reflects mood, values and
the person s statue in the society. So fashion at that time was the primary indicator of one s social
statue and the differences in styling between upper class and lower class were noticeable and very
easy distinguished, in terms of fabric, colors, and design.
During the Elizabethan time period, in order to understand a person s life style including clothes, we
must first understand how the society at that time worked. The Elizabethan society was divided into
three classes, first upper class including nobles and royalty, second middle class or hard working class,
and finally lower class or peasants. The availability of fabrics, colors, and designs were extremely
limited for lower class compared to upper class who has unlimited access to a variety of expansive
fabrics and colors. These divisions in clothing were stated in the Sumptuary Laws or also known as

Individuals Bulimia Nervosa As An Oedipal Condition
individuals bulimia nervosa can be conceptualized as an oedipal condition, in which individuals use
food to express and manage threatening feelings associated with the drama of oedipal desire and
rivalry. The rapid cycling of over control and loss of control eating in bulimia nervosa can be viewed
as a symbolic representation of conflict related to disavowed oedipal desires. In bingeing episodes,
food is something that is desirous, almost enticing to the point that it is consumed beyond satiation. In
restricting episodes, food is repugnant to the bulimic patient, something to be avoided and restricted at
all costs. Interpersonally, bulimic patients who are fixated at an oedipal stage of development are
likely to relate to others in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The oedipal bulimic patient clearly experiences a wish to triumph over the mother by becoming
thinner and thus more desirable. However, the bulimic woman appears to sabotage her own ambitions
for thinness. This is likely an expression of castration anxiety or rather fear of retaliation by the
maternal object. This anxiety is expressed in ambivalent feelings about the body. Conceptually, this
hypothesis seems to have support from empirical research demonstrating that most eating disorders
surface during adolescence, a period of tremendous growth and development (Ringer Crittenden,
2007). Most threatening to women with bulimia, physical and sexual maturation forces young girls to
deal with the reality of growing into a sexually mature being, which may induce feelings of guilt and
fear of mother s disapproval. By frequently regurgitating meals, bulimic women are able to resist or at
minimum have greater control over their development. Yet, unlike anoretic women, bulimic women
are clearly conflicted about their bodies. The anoretic patient prizes her emaciated physical state
which presents her as child like and less feminine. The bulimic patient appears more conflicted about
her body as part of her welcomes the opportunity to compete for father s attention. For young women
with bulimia, the changing nature of her body is both terrifying and exciting. Intrapsychically,
individuals fixated at

Decreasing the Wait Time for Cafeteria Food at Howard...
In my proposal plan I recommend that the average wait time at each food station in the café be
decreased, especially during high rush hour time for example during the lunch and dinner rushes. We
can help reduce the time by having servers make up pre portioned plates that way students can grab
and go instead of wait in a line for upwards of thirty minutes for cold food. We can also have different
food options added that serve different options because as of now the food lines operate on a schedule
with the same food options every week. Another recommendation would to be expanded the cafeteria
as a whole. As of now Howard University as roughly 10,000 undergraduate students, the cafeteria can
barely hold 800 students comfortably. This will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also learned that during peak hours of operation at both cafeterias the same amounts of workers are
on duty, to deal with the mass volumes of students. Students find that when they receive their meals
the food is often cold which is a health concern when food is not properly heated. This can cause other
concerns for student health for example food poisoning, which I reluctantly got from eating food from
the Howard university cafeteria. Some of the alternatives that I propose are to increase the amount of
workers during rush hour times to decrease the wait time. Also increase food options in what is
Howard s food court Punch Out, Determining what changes to the current system that will be most
effective above will have to be analyzed in a most cost effective way.
To asses the current situation at the annex and Blackburn cafeteria, I would like to use a simulation or

the student body and faculty members on the practicality of the situation. It will replicate the

Cause Of Terrorism
Terrorism has become a much more relevant occurrence in the 21st century. Although there is no one
exact cause of these radical actions, it is certain that it revolves around the human brain in a
psychological manner. It must be stopped, or at least slowed down, because it is occurring more often
than it has ever been on the history of this Earth. Incidents related to terrorism haven t only increased
in number but also in size in these last two decades. The incidents have gotten worse and worse to the
point where people are becoming more paranoid, there is no telling when a terrorist might strike next.

Those atrocities that terrorists cause in western societies aren t just coincidences, they happen there
because western societies are the primary target for those with radical beliefs. The main reason for the
so called Islamic terrorists to hate western culture is largely due to the threats on Islamic Identity
brought up by many different cultures including our own. So they would not hate western culture as
much as they do if other countries would have left them alone from the beginning. They indeed have a
reason or in many cases several reasons including having a lack of democracy, oppression by the
government, occupance by western militaries, and many others, so it s no surprise why they have so
much hatred in their hearts. It is impossible for a baby to come out of the womb with terrorist ideals
embedded in them. One must first be exposed to the idea of radicalism and terrorism before they can
act on its behalf, and in a radical society that is exactly what happens, they brainwash the kids to hate
western society and firmly believe in their radical ideals. 39% of ISIS deaths from suicide bombings

punishment and rehabilitation affects deterrence of crime, how it affects victims and their family. I
will also discuss how it affects offenders, the impact it has on society, and the fiscal impact upon

The effects of crime on a victim can be a very difficult and stressful experience. Many people

The Problem Of Differential Equations
Predicting the future is a big topic that many people have attempted and failed. Many people try to
predict things such as the end of the world, the next stock market crash, and the weather. Many people
are also scared of the future and wonder what it will hold, such as the prophet Jonah. When the Lord
told Jonah to go to Nineveh, he was terrified of the future and fled from the Lord. God later showed
Jonah that he is the only one in control and Jonah couldn t run from God. Christians believe that there
is only one person that is in control of the future and can predict it, and that would be God. While they
know this to be certain, mathematicians believe that by using math, specifically differential equations,
they can predict how things such as population, the stock market, and the weather can be somewhat
accurately predicted. In order to decide whether differential equations can predict future events, it is
important to know exactly what a differential equation is. A differential equation is an equation
involving derivatives of a function or functions.. The functions usually represent some quantities, and
the derivatives represent their rates of change. The differential equation that results from the two
relates the derivative and the function to be used as a productive equation. The rate of change
according to time can be a pivotal part in trying to predict some aspects of the future. When
mathematicians think of using differential equations to predict

I [am] pure. I [have] genuine thoughts inside that no one [can] see, that no one [can] ever take away

demonstrated throughout the novel, the strongest wind cannot be seen, (Tan 89). She had escaped
without leaving a trace behind her.
As the daughters grow, they portray certain characteristics similar to their mothers. Once Waverly
learns how to play chess and competes against former champions, she uses her wind , which she
inherited from her mother, to win all the games. She states: ...I would clasp my hands under my chin...
in the delicate manner my mother had shown me for posing for the press. I would...twirl my chosen
piece in midair as if undecided, and then firmly plant it in its new threatening place, with a triumphant
smile [on my face], (Tan 100). Here Waverly uses her strong and invisible wind to outsmart her
opponents. Although she does not realize it now, Waverly has inherited her mother s characteristic of
being an invisible, yet influential woman.
Because the daughters do not understand what qualities they have inherited, they have become distant
from their mothers. Trying to teach their daughters to strive for excellence only pushes them away.

Comparing Charlie And The Chocolate Factory And Charlie...
Film Comparison
In 1971, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released, based on Dahl s novel, Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory . In 2005, its remake was released, under the name Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory. After watching and analysing both films, it is a popular opinion that the filmmakers
responsible for creating the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have made use of story
elements, including story progression, cause and effect, point of view, structuring of time, setting and
characters more effectively to engage the audience more when compared to the original film, Willy
Wonka and the Chocolate Factory .
Character creation and development is a necessary element that is used by filmmakers to engage
audiences. Audiences watch films to see characters change through their experiences and characters
need to be memorable so an audience remains engaged by the film. While both films share the same
characters, there are noticeable differences. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , the characters are
obviously playing to extremes. Each character has their niche, and that is their defining trait. For
example, Charlie is poor, Wonka is extremely eccentric, Veruca is stuck up, Augustus is a glutton,
Violet is a winner and Mike is a gamer. In Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , the basic idea is
the same, however the characters aren t as memorable. However, both films shape their characters
through their appearances. For example, Augustus is quite large, reflecting the fact that he likes to eat
and Charlie looks hungry, suggesting to the audience that he is quite poor and does not get enough to
eat. It is the opinion of many that taking the characters to the extremes engages the audience better
than allowing them to be less defined. Yet, the filmmakers also create characters through their use of
settings, causing the audience to become further engaged in the texts.
In both films, the settings share similar purposes. This purpose being to create conflict as well as
allowing the audience to assume certain things about characters, background, context, etc. However it
is a shared opinion that the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory uses setting more effectively.

Market Failure And Its Effect On Society Essay
Market Failure is due to an imbalance or a change in supply and demand of certain goods and services
this, consequently, can lead to a shortage of products or an unnecessarily large inventory. Market
failure can be caused by many different factors such as positive and negative externalities, imbalance
of the price and quality of goods and services and also unrealistic projections for demand along with a
plethora of other factors. The perfect market, is an efficient organisation that meets all the wants and
desires of the public without any wastage of supplies and resources. However, there are many failures
to the perfect market that cause it to be ineffective. This essay will highlight and explain the main
causes of market failure, how they can be opposed and the effect market failure will have on society.
The idea behind the perfectly competitive market is that consumers buy whichever goods they wish or
need with their income and suppliers are free to decide what they produce, how to produce it and what
price to sell it at. For the competitive market to be efficient and effective, supply and demand must be
at equilibrium. If demand for a good increases this will consequently cause a shortage, this will then
cause the price to increase due to demand being higher than supply, as the price has increased demand
will slowly decrease, this will continue to happen until demand and supply are once again in
equilibrium.
There are many assumptions behind the competitive market that

Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus Essay
Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus
The orangutan, Pongo pygmaeus, is an ape that is found in the moist, coastal rainforests of Sumatra
and Borneo which consists of Indonesia s Kalimantan provinces, Malaysia s Sabath and Sarawak, and
the kingdom of Brunei Darussalam. Orangutans live in tropical rainforests and are arboreal primates
meaning that they are tree dwelling. Orangutans construct nests in the tree branches for the night in
which they will curl up and sleep. These nests are made out of leaves and branches and they will
sometimes use a leaf as a roof to protect themselves from the rain. Orangutans are omnivores, which
means they eat a variety of meat and plants. They primarily eat fruit, leaves and small animals. ...

The hierarchy among orangutans is the Noayu, which is where there is a solitary male. There is
marked sexual dimorphism among the orangutans. Females weigh only half as much as the males.
Being lighter, females and juveniles often stay in the trees. Not only is there a noticeable difference in
size, but males also possess quite a few different characteristics than female orangutans do. For
example, males have big cheek pads and facial hair that resembles a man s moustache and beard. The
numbers or orangutans have recently dropped tremendously owing to loss of habitat to deforestation
and the killing of females for their young, to be sold as pets or zoo animals. Fewer than 30,000
individuals are believed to remain in the wild, and the species is listed as endangered (Galdkias, 1987)
In relation to my observation, the orangutans acted very similar in captivity as if they were in the wild.
The space was limited, but for what they had to work with, they displayed many of the behaviors they
would have given they were in the wild. I noticed that the males remained solitary, as proven in my
research. In one instance, Kiko approached his sister and they groomed for a short amount of time,
and Kiko went into a different section of the enclosure and remained by himself until the end of my
observation. Junior, the dominating male, and father of Kiko, also stayed confined to himself. There

Essay On The Difference Between Civil Law And American...
Compared to the rest of the industrialized world, the United States is a fairly young country. As a
result, the U.S. has many institutions that differ from other advanced industrial democracies. One of
the most prominent differences between the U.S. and the rest of the industrialized world resides in our
legal systems. While the most common democratic judicial tradition, especially in social democracies,
is the civil law tradition, the U.S. differs and has a common law legal tradition. Many differences exist
between civil and common law traditions and the United States legal system would have stark changes
if it switched to a civil legal system.
A key difference between civil and common law legal systems is the role of the legal code. In civil
law, the legal code is the supreme source of justice in a society; a handbook on citizen rights,
responsibilities, and the law (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.97). In civil law, the the legal ...

In common law systems, less emphasis is placed on strictly following the words of the legal code, but
rather following the precedent set by previous cases findings. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier,
judges in common law nations have a prestigious connotation attached to their role. They hold a
highly sought after position and earn their black robe through the culmination of their legal career.
With the defendant under the presumption of innocence, these judges and the court act as neutral
actors and let the two opposing sides argue their case in front of a jury. Because of this, the common
law system is referred to as adversarial (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.100). One of the biggest
differences amongst common and civil law systems is the role of judicial review. Unlike in nations
with civil law, common law societies have a tremendous amount of judicial review oversight of
legislative or executive actions by the judiciary (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016,

Limitations Of Peribulbar Anesthesia
Discussion With an examination of the acquired results from the study, we can notice that the quality
of globe akinesia in the 10th minute in the rocuronium group was comparatively better, and 86% of
the patients underwent the total akinesia; whereas, the percentage of the total akinesia for the
cisatracurium group and the control group in 10th minute was 73% and 66% respectively (p value
0.444).
Peribulbar anesthesia is widely used for cataract surgery. This method is associated with less serious
complications compared to intravenous anesthesia (8) However, it has the disadvantage of a slow
onset of orbital akinesia (9) and the frequent need for a block supplement. (10) To overcome these
limitations, many adjuvant drugs have been added to the local anesthetic mixture used for the
peribulbar block to increase its efficacy and accelerate its initial rate; their effects, however, were
different. (11, 12, 13)
In retrobulbar approach, a needle is inserted into the intraconal space, a space behind the eye formed
by the extraocular muscles, containing the major nerves of the eye and its adnexa. Therefore, it may be
associated with potentially serious eye damage such as: a scleral perforation, a stimulation of the
oculocardial reflex and an injection of an anesthetic in the perioptic meningeal space. However, this
approach may have the advantage of rapid onset of analgesia and akinesia with the use of relatively
smaller volumes of anesthetic. (14) (15) In addition to commonly observed conjunctival edema, a
higher initial IOP is accompanied by the higher volume of the anesthetic agent (16), also the need for
additional injection is higher for peribulbar block compared to retrobulbar block (14).
Neuromuscular blockers have been used as adjuvants for many trials. Reah et al. added a dose of 0.5
mg vecuronium to a mixture of lidocaine and bupivacaine with 15 IU / mL hyaluronidase. (6) In the
study of kucukyavuz et al. Atracurium 5 mg was added to the same anesthetic mixture without
hyaluronidase. (5) The siege of Peribulbar was carried out in these two studies using a technique of 2
injections (Infertembporal and medial orbital). Y.Aissaouit et al. added 0.06 mg / kg of rocuronium to
the anesthetic mixture,

The Difference Between Looking And Perception In Raymond...
What is the true difference between looking and perceiving? In Cathedral , l Carver reveals human
rediscovery through contrast in between characters whose perception determines the narrator changes
of mind. The narrator in Cathedral is modeled as an ignorant person who does not seem to perceive
the world with knowledge. Instead, he only has the ability to see the world with his sight in the
beginning of the story. His limited view to the world reveals his lack of human experience in life thus
he usually attempts to perceive life with his stereotypical view. The other two characters, including the
wife and Robert, are both perceiving the world with numerous life experiences. They are the contrast
to the narrator yet they are helping the narrator to rediscover human worth through their ways of
perceiving the world. Robert is especially the significant person that changes the narrator mind by
showing what he can do as a blind man. Raymond Carver contrasts the wife and Robert with narrator
in many directions to bring out the process of how the narrator changes from an ignorant person to a
man who starts to know how to perceive the world with his mind but not the eyes.
The contrast between the wife and the narrator is shown through their different attitude toward Robert
s visit and also the lost of his wife. Robert is an extremely important person for narrator s wife who
suffers in her previous marriage and even commit suicide. The communication between the wife and

How The Grinch Stole Christmas Essay
I have chosen to look at How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss from a Marxist perspective.
The Marxist school of criticism focuses on the clash between the dominant class and the lower class.
This poem is about the Grinch, who is very different from everyone else in his society, making him an
outcast that nobody wants to be around. The Grinch is the embodiment of the lower class because he
does not get to make important decisions and he lives in isolation. The Whos are the complete
opposite of the Grinch, as they represent the dominant class and they get to live together in their tight
knit society without any worries. The Grinch wanted to destroy Christmas because nobody gave him a
present, as they all viewed him as evil and as detrimental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, this is an example of the lower class trying to overcompensate by trying to overthrow
and cause chaos to the dominant class. The people of that era were very adamant to accept people who
were different from them because they wanted everyone to be the same and follow the same rules. The
Grinch did not want to follow the rules and so he broke away from the town, to live somewhere where
his voice was heard. Once the Grinch stole all of the presents, stocking and trees, he realized that the
real value was not in the presents, but in the people celebrating together. This caused him to look past
his hate and break the class system, by joining in with the Whos. As a result, he was no longer
separated in a separate class, as he transitioned into the dominant class. I believe that this poem does
not fully reflect the economic division or even the class division, as it is a children s poem which
mostly focuses on the message, instead of specific details. Although, we can infer that the Grinch was
in a different class system, due to his attitude towards the other people of the village and his feeling of
resentment and

The nature of the iterations will not necessarily change much; but the longevity of the software
produced will certainly increase. Early iterations (usually in the inception phase) have a tendency to
be thrown out. During elaboration, you will discover the rest of the use cases (or at least their first
approximations) and will implement the minimal set. During construction, users will drive towards
giving the customer the minimum system that they need. The nature of the iterations will not change
much, but your focus will be on identifying the smallest possible deliverable that will still meet at
least some of the customers needs. During construction, the use cases will change a bit as the customer
sees the growing system and feeds changes back to you. During transition, users will drive towards
fleshing out the functionality of the system, and incorporating the mounds of customer feedback that
users are surely to get. The nature of your iterations will not change much. During transition, the use

Montgomery, Alabama, who believed in civil rights for African Americans. It was a time of

Social Deviance Definition Essay
Merriam Webster defines straying or deviating especially from an accepted norm (dictionary). In
sociology, deviant behavior is a act that society, or the mass popular, thinks is unusual or different. For
a behavior to be considered deviant it must violate a social rule, prove disapproval, or be a form of
positive deviance. Deviant behavior can range from tattoo, unnatural dyed hair, criminology,
completing math in pen, domestic violence, to listening to punk music. Sociology is about revealing
patterns and identifying underlining forces (TB).
As stated above, deviance can be anything that is different than society s definition of normal. There
are rules in place that the mass population upholds; there are means in place to ensure that those rules
are followed, ie. police, teachers, etc. Erkison brings a very valid point to the dissuasion on societal
deviance, Although we no longer attend public hangings or observe people held in stockades, we are
aware of the way society punishes (or fails to punish) deviant acts; in so doing we continually redraw
the social boundaries of acceptability (Erickson 17). He states that the social rules that we follow are

Stereotypes In Prisons
When a person first enters into the prison system, most of the time he or she do not know what to
expect. Inmates are usually tested by each other to see if they are strong or weak, which eventually
starts to become a pattern in the prison system. Being weak in prison allows someone to take control
of another individual and allowing him or her to do what he or she please. Being strong in prison
means standing your grounds just as you would outside of prison. Prisoners who are weak are usually
the ones who are rapped and taken advantage; this is another way prisoners are infected with
HIV/AIDS and then are apart of a stigmatized group.
Goffman explained that the stigmatization is a pattern of unexpected behavior placed on a person who
maybe diagnosed with an illness, apart of a certain group or because of different characteristics that
others may not consider to be normal. It has been said that when an individuals inform others about
their infection of HIV/AIDS, there is a behavior that is endured that makes it obvious to the naked eye
that someone is not accepted. The existence of a stigma, and the means for determining who are

Economic Justice Vs Distributive Justice Essay
An average American employee must work for an entire year before he or she earns what the average
American CEO earns in one day (Rezvani, Pirouz 6). The United States GINI coefficient, a measure
of income inequality, sits at 0.590 one of the highest marks in the entire developed world (4). A
majority of wealth sits in the hands of less than one percent of the country and those lucky enough to
fall under this percentage are catered to by politicians in search of reelection. That said, it is easy for
one to wonder whether the We the People mantra has been replaced with a mantra of We the

In the most general sense, distributive justice refers to justice in the allocation of resources while
commutative justice refers to justice in acts of exchange. Distributive economic justice requires that
every individual should have the moderate income needed for the basic necessities while commutative
economic justice requires that the price of commodities be set at an agreed upon standard of equity
(Macpherson 7). Minimum wage serves as a tool for distributive economic justice as it ensures that
citizens have the means for basic sustenance while the free market system serves as a tool for
commutative economic justice as its grants largely unrestricted access for both consumers and
producers. To date, most of the research regarding economic justice has supported distributive theories
because the main requirement for commutative economic justice, equality of access, is limited by
uncontrollable forces like geography, race, and gender, which can all prevent access to economic

The Fusion of Content and Form in Sonnet 29 Essay examples
The Fusion of Content and Form in Sonnet 29
One of the most popular of the fixed poetic forms in English literature is the sonnet. Attributed to the
Italian poet Petrarch in the fourteenth century, the sonnet is still used by many contemporary writers.
The appeal of the sonnet lies in its two part structure, which easily lends itself to the dynamics of
much human emotional experience and to the intellectual mode of human sensibility for argument
based on complication and resolution.
In the last decade of the sixteenth century, sonnet writing became highly fashionable following the
publication of Sir Philip Sydney s sonnet sequence Astrophel and Stella, published in 1591. Sonnet
sequences were widely read and admired at this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A different rhyme scheme and thus a different convention of logical and rhetorical organization
determines the differences between the two sonnet forms. In the Petrarchian sonnet the problem is
solved by reasoned perception or a meditative process.
The Shakespearean sonnet maintains the basic two part structure of conflict and resolution, now
presented in fourteen lines of three quatrains and a concluding rhyming couplet. Each quatrain
presents a further aspect of a problem, conflict, or idea. The resolution occurs in the last two of a
rhyming couplet, achieved through logical cleverness that summarizes or ties together what has been
expressed in the three quatrains. The rhyme scheme, subject to variation, is abab, cdcd, efef, gg in
iambic pentameter.
The sonnet sequence is a gathering together of a number of sonnets to present a narrative or examine a
larger theme. Shakespeare s sequence, like Sydney s, was intended as a series of love poems to
celebrate the poet s affections for a young male friend. The poems were collected and published as a
sequence in 1609, though initially they were private poems meant for a small circle of writers and
friends, not for publication. There are 154 sonnets in the sequence. Some scholars speculate these are
ones that remain from a longer work, thus accounting for the sonnet s problems in chronology,
thematic development, and connections between individual poems. Other scholars speculate that not

The Social Gospel By John Lewis
The social gospel was the biggest inspiration and influence for Civil Rights leader, John Lewis. Which
is prevalent throughout the first two books, of the March trilogy, written by Andrew Aydin and John
Lewis himself. The Bible made its mark on Lewis when he was young farm boy. Leading him to the
social gospel which started him down the path of nonviolence, and longing not just for personal
reform but for social reform. As the Civil Rights movements became bigger, and as the philosophy of
which John Lewis taught spread, others were inspired by the social gospel. At a very young age John
Lewis love for the gospel was born. At the age of four his uncle gifted him his first Bible for
Christmas. Even though he was too young to read it for himself; the words that his mother read to him,
had a strong impact. He said, I ll never forget my mother reading aloud to me the first words in that
book In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth (Lewis and Aydin March Book one 26).
By age five he could read the Bible himself, and the messages began to shape, and impact him even
more. John Lewis then wanted to be a preacher, so he began preaching to the chickens on his farm,
with soulful messages. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. [...] Blessed are the
merciful: for they shall obtain mercy (Lewis and Aydin March Book one 27). Little did he know, that
what he preached to the chickens were molding his future. Those words are what he was going to
stand for, his morals. What he was going to be known for, what will become his determination, and
will drive him for years to come. There was one verse in particular that did stand out to Lewis, John
1:29: Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (KJV). In this verse the lamb of
God is referring to Jesus, whom sacrifices himself to take away the sin of every person and save every
person. There is a strong connection between John Lewis and Jesus Christ. Foreshadowing, that John
Lewis believes his purpose is to liberate the lives of African Americans. The idea of the social gospel
was introduced to John Lewis for the first time when he heard Martin Luther King Jr. give a sermon
over the radio. Lewis stated: Dr. King s

Satire In Catch 22
In 1944, at age 21, author Joseph Heller was deployed to the Italian front of World War Two. While
there, he flew 60 missions as a B 25 Bombardier; however he claims that most of these flights were
merely milk runs . After his return, Heller expressed that he had been considering a novel about a flier
facing the end of his missions, and in 1953 the idea for Catch 22 simply came to him. Part of the
inspiration for the novel came from two friends of his that had been wounded in the war. Heller
reported that one of them told some funny stories about war experiences, while the other friend could
not see how any humor could be associated with the horror of war, (Daugherty 2011). In his novel he
decided to look at the war and the characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Literary scholar Robert Brustein states that the novel is one of the most bitterly funny works in the
language, (Brustein 2009). The main catch and reason for the title is the unwritten law that keeps
Yossarian from leaving the military. It states that one must be insane to continue flying missions and
to be sent home; however, as soon as one claims insanity and requests to go home they are proven
sane and must stay. Yossarian also remains trapped due to another one of these so called catch 22s. His
squadron has been forced to fly more than double the missions required for one tour solely because his
colonel, Colonel Cathcart, wishes to be in the Saturday Evening Post. Because of this Cathcart signs
his men up for the most dangerous missions and continually raises the number of missions needed to
be released when someone becomes close (Brustein 2009). Many more examples can be found in the
novel as well. These situations make one laugh due to their sheer stupidity and lack of logic, while
also showing the unreasonable power the officers in the military have and the ludicrous things they do

The Pueblo Revolt
Native Americans are the first inhabitants of North America by centuries; however, many believe that
American history started when Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 and discovered a
new world . Although the English, French, and Spanish arrived around the same time, they all
interacted with the Natives in different ways to achieve what they were seeking, such as land, riches,
etc. However, once the European pursuit of riches and land became brutal and malicious, the Natives
attempted several revolts, such as the Pueblo Revolt or King Phillip s War, that unfortunately, has
some dire consequences, such as death and slavery. Although English were the last party to cross the
Atlantic, they were proactive in their attempt to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, majority of the time, they were treated as lesser and subject to unfair treatment that
inevitably lead to them revolting against the Europeans. The Europeans may have had different ways
of interacting with the Native Americans, they were all looking for some sort of gain. Although their
revolts may not have had the desired outcome, they stood their ground and fought for what they
believed

How would you price BigBelly? I would price it in a way that is cheap enough to be an attractive investment for the buyer but also give Seahorse enough profit to keep going. You need the profit to be enough to sustained growth and potential for expansion. g. How would you use terms, programs to counter anticipated customer challenges to purchase? Tell the customers the benefits of having such a device including how it will cut down the amount of times the trash collector has to come to your business or how using this device will help reduce the amount of pollution emitted by said trucks potentially saving millions of gallons of gas each year. You can place the product anywhere you want and is easy to use. 4. Tech Development h. Product and Financing are milestone based, why is that important? Why has the UCC largely discarded the mirror image rule, while it still persists in various parts of the common law? Discuss whether the complexity of the UCC 2 207 is or is not preferable to the simplicity of the mirror image rule. Covered by the accepted rules, it is a necessity that the printed composition, offer and acceptance, make a Mirror Image of one another for an agreement to happen. If there exists dissimilar agreements and circumstances, indifferent of their relevance, there would exist no deal. Even though the Mirror Image rule had the benefit of being understandable and not difficult to put into use, it didn t echo the facts of the current era commercial business. So in Article Two of the UCC, that is relevant to business dealings, the Mirror Image rule was interchanged by UCC 2 207. That arrangement acknowledges that an agreement can happen still where the proposal and agreement weren t exact. Covered by UCC 2 207, all exact and appropriate verbalization of agreement will shape a deal despite of if it includes unlike conditions except when agreement is purposely created dependent on acknowledgement to the extra or contrasting circumstances. Additionally, although the persons arrangements are so entirely different that no composed agreement is brought into existence, UCC 2 207(3) understands that the individuals behavior can however produce an agreement. Case Study Of Bain Company 1 Introduction The global consulting industry has generated $240 billion revenues in 2015 and as such represents one of the largest markets within the professional services industry (Consultancy.uk, n.d.). Even if strategy consulting constitutes solely 12% market share (i.e., $28.8 billion) it is the most prestigious sector (Consultancy.uk, n.d.). While other sectors of the consulting industry can be delineated rather easily, strategy consulting occupies a special position. Companies of that sector not solely provide strategy consulting services, but consulting services of other sectors alike, however from a purely strategic point of view. While the former constitutes the functional positioning of its organizational units, the latter describes a pattern of shared basic assumptions that was learned by a group as it solved its problems of external adaptation and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and, therefore, to be taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to those problems (Schein, 2004, p. 17). Due to the characteristics of the business model of strategy consulting, Bain Company s organizational structure differs significantly from other industries. Although there is a global, albeit confidential, organizational structure, Bain Company is primarily structured by office whose organizational units are exhibited in Figure 1. Directed by Office Management, the organizational structure on office level is divided into two main pillars: Consulting Staff and Consulting Support Services (Bain Company Inc., n.d. l). While consulting employees are generally not split across the various consulting services (see Chapter 2.3.1), the particular dynamics of private equity consulting require a temporary separation of those selected consulting employees. • 6. Spirituality And Religiosity While consensus among researchers on the definition of spirituality and religiosity is lacking, what it means to be spiritual or religious and what constitutes a spiritual person in the literature is still very highly researched (Stranahan, 2008). Many definitions of religiosity and spirituality include religious service attendance, some sort of meaning and purpose in life, personal strength to cope with difficulties, and believing in a higher being (Stranahan, 2008). Older adults tend to have stronger faith and greater spirituality than younger populations (Moberg, 2005). This difference in spirituality between younger populations and older adults is possibly tied to the deepening of spiritual interests and concern during the later years (Moberg, 2005, p. 15). Older adults tend to become more religious, or turn to religion more as they age, instead of maintaining a high level of religiosity throughout their lives (Moberg, 2005). Spirituality and religiosity are very important to the aging process due to the connection observed in many studies between spiritual health and physical and mental health and well being, with religion having protective health effects. Much research has been conducted on the association between religion and spirituality and physical and mental health outcomes, especially among older adults. This paper will summarize the recent findings related to religion and spirituality and health in older adults, including a discussion on the theory of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conflict is a struggle; clashing of views or statements . (Cope, 2014) A dispute would be a controversy or disagreement that pushes a person s buttons to make them prove another person wrong. (Cope, 2014) Negotiation however, is the process or attempt at resolving a conflict that has elevated into a dispute. People come across conflicts daily as humans and rarely agree with each other. I had never contemplated or understood the levels of conflict before. It creates perfect sense that each level would progress up to the next level. Starting with life experiences, until a life experience is perceived as being harmful, it stays just an experience. After viewing a life experience as a harmful experience, the persons thought process automatically flows into who or what to blame for this experience, escalating the conflict to the blaming level. Then once one figures out who or what to blame they either stop there, as did the author Joey Cope of our course materials did in his piece Defining the Levels of Conflict (Cope, 2014) or consequently, they move on to the claiming step. Once at the claiming step their needs can range from an apology to monetary demands depending on how severe the experience is deemed to be. All of which would fulfill the need for justice, although if the other party is not willing to provide this justice, then the need further escalates the conflict to a dispute ending with a negotiator, a lawyer, and/ or in a courtroom. Understanding how conflict escalates can only render a negotiator more effective. It can help the negotiator de escalate conflict, or in disputes, assist parties in understanding one s perspective. How Does Hamilton Portray Aron Burrr The musical Hamilton does not portray Aron Burr as a Villain throughout but rather a character who the reader can feel sympathetic for, instead he is portrayed as someone who is seen as equal by the public to Alexander Hamilton or even superior but is consistently shown as inferior to Alexander Hamilton. This is shown in how he acted when in competition with Alexander Hamilton, the protagonist of Hamilton, when it came time to choose an assistant for George Washington, but also shown in the remorse he had when he killed Alexander Hamilton. In the musical Hamilton, Aron Burr is shown in competition with Alexander Hamilton for the role to assist George Washington in the revolutionary war. The Overlooked Area Of Poverty Essay The overlooked area Looking at the MDGs as the whole, poverty reduction was the central theme in the development agenda; it was aimed to cut in half proportion of the population living below $1 a day from around 30 percent of the developing countries by 2015 (United Nations, 2005). Even though these targets have been almost achieved; it was predicted that there are about 825 million of citizen still live in extreme poverty and 800 million still suffer from inadequate hunger (FAO, 2015). Thus, fighting against poverty and hunger remains the enormous challenge. Then, an inevitable question arises as to whether the persistence of poverty was well defined. FAO (2015) also have noticed that extreme poverty mainly occurs in rural areas where the majority of poor people depend on agriculture. The condition of relying on agriculture means that primary source of food and income for those poor people come from agriculture that they have made. Unfortunately, agriculture was not prioritized at the goal and target levels. Agriculture was mentioned at the indicator level under target three of goal eight (Develop a Global Partnership for Development). It was set to measure market access, which was seen as a huge gap that agriculture was overlooked in the MDGs. At that time, new styles, modern yet unique fabrics, charm colors, sharp design and glamor silhouette were evolving. Every layer and piece of Elizabethan outfit was equally important, from the fancy dress to the smallest details. Definitely, the Elizabethan era was the time of beauty and fascination. In fact, during the Elizabethan time clothing reflects mood, values and the person s statue in the society. So fashion at that time was the primary indicator of one s social statue and the differences in styling between upper class and lower class were noticeable and very easy distinguished, in terms of fabric, colors, and design. During the Elizabethan time period, in order to understand a person s life style including clothes, we must first understand how the society at that time worked. The Elizabethan society was divided into three classes, first upper class including nobles and royalty, second middle class or hard working class, and finally lower class or peasants. The rapid cycling of over control and loss of control eating in bulimia nervosa can be viewed as a symbolic representation of conflict related to disavowed oedipal desires. In bingeing episodes, food is something that is desirous, almost enticing to the point that it is consumed beyond satiation. This anxiety is expressed in ambivalent feelings about the body. Conceptually, this hypothesis seems to have support from empirical research demonstrating that most eating disorders surface during adolescence, a period of tremendous growth and development (Ringer Crittenden, 2007). Most threatening to women with bulimia, physical and sexual maturation forces young girls to deal with the reality of growing into a sexually mature being, which may induce feelings of guilt and fear of mother s disapproval. By frequently regurgitating meals, bulimic women are able to resist or at minimum have greater control over their development. Many people try to predict things such as the end of the world, the next stock market crash, and the weather. Many people are also scared of the future and wonder what it will hold, such as the prophet Jonah. When the Lord told Jonah to go to Nineveh, he was terrified of the future and fled from the Lord. God later showed Jonah that he is the only one in control and Jonah couldn t run from God. Christians believe that there is only one person that is in control of the future and can predict it, and that would be God. While they know this to be certain, mathematicians believe that by using math, specifically differential equations, they can predict how things such as population, the stock market, and the weather can be somewhat accurately predicted. In order to decide whether differential equations can predict future events, it is important to know exactly what a differential equation is. A differential equation is an equation involving derivatives of a function or functions.. The functions usually represent some quantities, and the derivatives represent their rates of change. The differential equation that results from the two relates the derivative and the function to be used as a productive equation. Film Comparison In 1971, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released, based on Dahl s novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory . In 2005, its remake was released, under the name Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. After watching and analysing both films, it is a popular opinion that the filmmakers responsible for creating the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have made use of story elements, including story progression, cause and effect, point of view, structuring of time, setting and characters more effectively to engage the audience more when compared to the original film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory . Character creation and development is a necessary element that is used by filmmakers to engage audiences. Audiences watch films to see characters change through their experiences and characters need to be memorable so an audience remains engaged by the film. While both films share the same characters, there are noticeable differences. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , the characters are obviously playing to extremes. Each character has their niche, and that is their defining trait. For example, Charlie is poor, Wonka is extremely eccentric, Veruca is stuck up, Augustus is a glutton, Violet is a winner and Mike is a gamer. In Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , the basic idea is the same, however the characters aren t as memorable. However, both films shape their characters through their appearances. For example, Augustus is quite large, reflecting the fact that he likes to eat and Charlie looks hungry, suggesting to the audience that he is quite poor and does not get enough to eat. It is the opinion of many that taking the characters to the extremes engages the audience better than allowing them to be less defined. Yet, the filmmakers also create characters through their use of settings, causing the audience to become further engaged in the texts. In both films, the settings share similar purposes. This purpose being to create conflict as well as allowing the audience to assume certain things about characters, background, context, etc. However it is a shared opinion that the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory uses setting more effectively. Market failure can be caused by many different factors such as positive and negative externalities, imbalance of the price and quality of goods and services and also unrealistic projections for demand along with a plethora of other factors. The perfect market, is an efficient organisation that meets all the wants and desires of the public without any wastage of supplies and resources. However, there are many failures to the perfect market that cause it to be ineffective. This essay will highlight and explain the main causes of market failure, how they can be opposed and the effect market failure will have on society. The idea behind the perfectly competitive market is that consumers buy whichever goods they wish or need with their income and suppliers are free to decide what they produce, how to produce it and what price to sell it at. For the competitive market to be efficient and effective, supply and demand must be at equilibrium. If demand for a good increases this will consequently cause a shortage, this will then cause the price to increase due to demand being higher than supply, as the price has increased demand will slowly decrease, this will continue to happen until demand and supply are once again in equilibrium. One of the most prominent differences between the U.S. and the rest of the industrialized world resides in our legal systems. While the most common democratic judicial tradition, especially in social democracies, is the civil law tradition, the U.S. differs and has a common law legal tradition. Many differences exist between civil and common law traditions and the United States legal system would have stark changes if it switched to a civil legal system. A key difference between civil and common law legal systems is the role of the legal code. In civil law, the legal code is the supreme source of justice in a society; a handbook on citizen rights, responsibilities, and the law (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.97). In civil law, the the legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In common law systems, less emphasis is placed on strictly following the words of the legal code, but rather following the precedent set by previous cases findings. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier, judges in common law nations have a prestigious connotation attached to their role. They hold a highly sought after position and earn their black robe through the culmination of their legal career. With the defendant under the presumption of innocence, these judges and the court act as neutral actors and let the two opposing sides argue their case in front of a jury. Because of this, the common law system is referred to as adversarial (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.100). One of the biggest differences amongst common and civil law systems is the role of judicial review. Unlike in nations with civil law, common law societies have a tremendous amount of judicial review oversight of legislative or executive actions by the judiciary (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, ... • 25. Limitations Of Peribulbar Anesthesia Discussion With an examination of the acquired results from the study, we can notice that the quality of globe akinesia in the 10th minute in the rocuronium group was comparatively better, and 86% of the patients underwent the total akinesia; whereas, the percentage of the total akinesia for the cisatracurium group and the control group in 10th minute was 73% and 66% respectively (p value 0.444). Peribulbar anesthesia is widely used for cataract surgery. This method is associated with less serious complications compared to intravenous anesthesia (8) However, it has the disadvantage of a slow onset of orbital akinesia (9) and the frequent need for a block supplement. (10) To overcome these limitations, many adjuvant drugs have been added to the local anesthetic mixture used for the peribulbar block to increase its efficacy and accelerate its initial rate; their effects, however, were different. (11, 12, 13) In retrobulbar approach, a needle is inserted into the intraconal space, a space behind the eye formed by the extraocular muscles, containing the major nerves of the eye and its adnexa. Therefore, it may be associated with potentially serious eye damage such as: a scleral perforation, a stimulation of the oculocardial reflex and an injection of an anesthetic in the perioptic meningeal space. However, this approach may have the advantage of rapid onset of analgesia and akinesia with the use of relatively smaller volumes of anesthetic. (14) (15) In addition to commonly observed conjunctival edema, a higher initial IOP is accompanied by the higher volume of the anesthetic agent (16), also the need for additional injection is higher for peribulbar block compared to retrobulbar block (14). Neuromuscular blockers have been used as adjuvants for many trials. Reah et al. added a dose of 0.5 mg vecuronium to a mixture of lidocaine and bupivacaine with 15 IU / mL hyaluronidase. (6) In the study of kucukyavuz et al. Atracurium 5 mg was added to the same anesthetic mixture without hyaluronidase. (5) The siege of Peribulbar was carried out in these two studies using a technique of 2 injections (Infertembporal and medial orbital). • 28. The Difference Between Looking And Perception In Raymond... What is the true difference between looking and perceiving? In Cathedral , l Carver reveals human rediscovery through contrast in between characters whose perception determines the narrator changes of mind. The narrator in Cathedral is modeled as an ignorant person who does not seem to perceive the world with knowledge. Instead, he only has the ability to see the world with his sight in the beginning of the story. His limited view to the world reveals his lack of human experience in life thus he usually attempts to perceive life with his stereotypical view. The other two characters, including the wife and Robert, are both perceiving the world with numerous life experiences. They are the contrast to the narrator yet they are helping the narrator to rediscover human worth through their ways of perceiving the world. Robert is especially the significant person that changes the narrator mind by showing what he can do as a blind man. Raymond Carver contrasts the wife and Robert with narrator in many directions to bring out the process of how the narrator changes from an ignorant person to a man who starts to know how to perceive the world with his mind but not the eyes. The contrast between the wife and the narrator is shown through their different attitude toward Robert s visit and also the lost of his wife. • 29. How The Grinch Stole Christmas Essay I have chosen to look at How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss from a Marxist perspective. The Marxist school of criticism focuses on the clash between the dominant class and the lower class. This poem is about the Grinch, who is very different from everyone else in his society, making him an outcast that nobody wants to be around. The Grinch is the embodiment of the lower class because he does not get to make important decisions and he lives in isolation. The Whos are the complete opposite of the Grinch, as they represent the dominant class and they get to live together in their tight knit society without any worries. Furthermore, this is an example of the lower class trying to overcompensate by trying to overthrow and cause chaos to the dominant class. The people of that era were very adamant to accept people who were different from them because they wanted everyone to be the same and follow the same rules. The Grinch did not want to follow the rules and so he broke away from the town, to live somewhere where his voice was heard. Once the Grinch stole all of the presents, stocking and trees, he realized that the real value was not in the presents, but in the people celebrating together. This caused him to look past his hate and break the class system, by joining in with the Whos. As a result, he was no longer separated in a separate class, as he transitioned into the dominant class. I believe that this poem does not fully reflect the economic division or even the class division, as it is a children s poem which mostly focuses on the message, instead of specific details. Although, we can infer that the Grinch was in a different class system, due to his attitude towards the other people of the village and his feeling of resentment and ... • 34. Social Deviance Definition Essay Merriam Webster defines straying or deviating especially from an accepted norm (dictionary). In sociology, deviant behavior is a act that society, or the mass popular, thinks is unusual or different. For a behavior to be considered deviant it must violate a social rule, prove disapproval, or be a form of positive deviance. Deviant behavior can range from tattoo, unnatural dyed hair, criminology, completing math in pen, domestic violence, to listening to punk music. Sociology is about revealing patterns and identifying underlining forces (TB). As stated above, deviance can be anything that is different than society s definition of normal. There are rules in place that the mass population upholds; there are means in place to ensure that those rules are followed, ie. police, teachers, etc. Erkison brings a very valid point to the dissuasion on societal deviance, Although we no longer attend public hangings or observe people held in stockades, we are aware of the way society punishes (or fails to punish) deviant acts; in so doing we continually redraw the social boundaries of acceptability (Erickson 17). Inmates are usually tested by each other to see if they are strong or weak, which eventually starts to become a pattern in the prison system. Being strong in prison means standing your grounds just as you would outside of prison. Prisoners who are weak are usually the ones who are rapped and taken advantage; this is another way prisoners are infected with HIV/AIDS and then are apart of a stigmatized group. Goffman explained that the stigmatization is a pattern of unexpected behavior placed on a person who maybe diagnosed with an illness, apart of a certain group or because of different characteristics that others may not consider to be normal. It has been said that when an individuals inform others about their infection of HIV/AIDS, there is a behavior that is endured that makes it obvious to the naked eye that someone is not accepted. • 37. The Fusion of Content and Form in Sonnet 29 Essay examples The Fusion of Content and Form in Sonnet 29 One of the most popular of the fixed poetic forms in English literature is the sonnet. Attributed to the Italian poet Petrarch in the fourteenth century, the sonnet is still used by many contemporary writers. The appeal of the sonnet lies in its two part structure, which easily lends itself to the dynamics of much human emotional experience and to the intellectual mode of human sensibility for argument based on complication and resolution. In the last decade of the sixteenth century, sonnet writing became highly fashionable following the publication of Sir Philip Sydney s sonnet sequence Astrophel and Stella, published in 1591. Sonnet sequences were widely read and admired at this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A different rhyme scheme and thus a different convention of logical and rhetorical organization determines the differences between the two sonnet forms. In the Petrarchian sonnet the problem is solved by reasoned perception or a meditative process. The Shakespearean sonnet maintains the basic two part structure of conflict and resolution, now presented in fourteen lines of three quatrains and a concluding rhyming couplet. Each quatrain presents a further aspect of a problem, conflict, or idea. The resolution occurs in the last two of a rhyming couplet, achieved through logical cleverness that summarizes or ties together what has been expressed in the three quatrains. The rhyme scheme, subject to variation, is abab, cdcd, efef, gg in iambic pentameter. The sonnet sequence is a gathering together of a number of sonnets to present a narrative or examine a larger theme. Shakespeare s sequence, like Sydney s, was intended as a series of love poems to celebrate the poet s affections for a young male friend. The poems were collected and published as a sequence in 1609, though initially they were private poems meant for a small circle of writers and friends, not for publication. There are 154 sonnets in the sequence. Some scholars speculate these are ones that remain from a longer work, thus accounting for the sonnet s problems in chronology, thematic development, and connections between individual poems. • 39. The Social Gospel By John Lewis The social gospel was the biggest inspiration and influence for Civil Rights leader, John Lewis. Which is prevalent throughout the first two books, of the March trilogy, written by Andrew Aydin and John Lewis himself. The Bible made its mark on Lewis when he was young farm boy. Leading him to the social gospel which started him down the path of nonviolence, and longing not just for personal reform but for social reform. As the Civil Rights movements became bigger, and as the philosophy of which John Lewis taught spread, others were inspired by the social gospel. At a very young age John Lewis love for the gospel was born. At the age of four his uncle gifted him his first Bible for Christmas. Even though he was too young to read it for himself; the words that his mother read to him, had a strong impact. He said, I ll never forget my mother reading aloud to me the first words in that book In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth (Lewis and Aydin March Book one 26). By age five he could read the Bible himself, and the messages began to shape, and impact him even more. John Lewis then wanted to be a preacher, so he began preaching to the chickens on his farm, with soulful messages. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. [...] Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy (Lewis and Aydin March Book one 27). Little did he know, that what he preached to the chickens were molding his future. Those words are what he was going to stand for, his morals. What he was going to be known for, what will become his determination, and will drive him for years to come. There was one verse in particular that did stand out to Lewis, John 1:29: Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (KJV). In this verse the lamb of God is referring to Jesus, whom sacrifices himself to take away the sin of every person and save every person. There is a strong connection between John Lewis and Jesus Christ. Foreshadowing, that John Lewis believes his purpose is to liberate the lives of African Americans. After his return, Heller expressed that he had been considering a novel about a flier facing the end of his missions, and in 1953 the idea for Catch 22 simply came to him.
