Coca Cola Company s New Strategy
The Coca Cola Company has been able to adapt with the times when it comes to public relations,
publicity, and advertising tactics. The company s tactics has had to evolve over the last century to be
able to keep current consumers, and attract new consumers. The key for any company is to be able to
adapted to changing technologies and processes. From the beginning, The Coca Cola Company
understood the importance of having a solid brand identity. There isn t a brand that is more branded
than The Coca Cola Company. When people think of Coke, people might think of the color red, the
iconic bottle shape, or maybe even polar bears. These easy identifiable symbols that represent Coke,
allows the company to build an integrated marketing plan around the iconic symbols. The Coca Cola
Company s new integrated campaign is meant to unite all the brands under the The Coca Cola
Company s umbrella. This is a new strategy for the Coca Cola Company, usually all the different Coke
Trademark brands, such as Diet Coke and Coke Zero have separate campaigns. If one thinks about
past Coca Cola campaigns different varieties of Coca Cola are not featured in the same still
advertising shot or commercial. The only time one see all The Coca Cola trademark brands together
are places where beverages are purchased such as a vending machine or the grocery store. This new
campaign will change that mindset. Not only does it unite the trademarked brands, but it unites the
global brands as well. This

What Was The Purpose Of The Proclamation
Purpose The Proclamation of 1763 was made after the French and Indian War to make sure that
colonists did not move further west. King George had made this proclamation because he wanted to
preserve Native American land, so that the Native Americans may want to help him in the future. This
was also to make sure that the colonies stayed under British control because if the people moved too
much west Britain would not be able to keep a tight control over the people. Act This proclamation
stated that no colonists were allowed to move or settle west of the Appalachian Mountain Range. It
was created on October 7, 1763 by King George III, and made sure that the Native Americans stayed
west and the colonists stayed east of the Mountains. The proclamation was also a way of trying to
satisfy the Native Americans, who had recently helped in Britain s Seven Year s War Effect As a result
of this proclamation, 7,500 British soldiers were sent to the colonies to enforce the rule and to stop
colonists from rebelling. Colonists saw this as a sign of tyranny and abuse of power on the king s side
and did not want to follow this rule. King George was able to keep control of the colonies for a longer
period of time because the people couldn t move, and the colonies became very cramped, as more
people were arriving but the land was not expanding. The Stamp Act (March 22, 1765) Purpose The
purpose of the Stamp Act was to help pay off debts that the British owed to other countries from

American Exceptionalism
As John Winthrop once described what would become the United States as a city upon a hill,
American Exceptionalism was born on enlightenment principles of political liberty and equality. This
political foundation of liberty and equality for the United States in the new world was founded on the
idea of natural, God given rights, and these enlightenment principles seen the Declaration of
Independence became the core of American political thought would survive and evolve through
nineteenth century Hegelism culminating in the American Civil War. The most famous of
Enlightenment thinkers was an Englishmen by the name of John Locke, the father of liberalism. In his
work, Second Treatise Concerning Civil Government, Locke famously stated that Reason, which is
the law, teaches all mankind who will but consult it...no one ought to harm another in his life, health,
liberty, or possessions; for men being all the workmanship of one omnipotent and infinitely wise
Maker. This was summarized down to Life, Liberty, and Property, where no man can or should be
derived of his personal freedoms and that all men are equal under God. While these ideas did not take
hold in in Europe until the French Revolution in 1789, they did take root in the English colonies in
America for their founding in 1776. When the thirteen colonies voted to break away from the United
Kingdom, they had Thomas Jefferson write the declaration of independence, and the main inspiration
for this was John Locke. The most

The Age Of The Middle Class
The whole idea of teenager came during the mid 1920 s also known as the prosperity decade. This was
a time when everything seemed to be going right for the middle class americans. The economy was
booming and for the white middle class things appeared to be going quite well. The theory behind
teenagers was to create a grace period between childhood and adulthood, in which an individual was
able to learn and grow from their experiences. But as the years progress the ease into adulthood started
to become more of a steep cliff rather than the gradual incline (ushistory.org). As a teenager, I believe
that the teenage community is being stereotyped as a lazy and irresponsible generation perceived by
other older generations, but that stereotype is not true. It is illogical to compare one group to another
solely based on out of date ideals. The way we have analyzed teen brains is a correlation that has yet
to be proven. II. Every generation grows up with different obstacles which cannot be compared to
other generations because every person has a different background no matter who they identify as.
Each generation is separated by the events that happened during their lifetime, that is the whole reason
we separate generations in the first place to distinguish them. In the August 2014 Huffington Post
Article, generations Z Stereotyped as the Apathetic generation , a journalist for the Huffington Post,

I Know About Breeding A Dog Essay
In 2015 for christmas I had recieved a female Australian Shepherd puppy. She is a blue merle with
brown eyes. When I first got her I loved her and couldn t wait for her to be old and have puppies of
her own. What I didn t understand is how difficult of a process it was to get a dog bred. I didn t know
the first thing about breeding a dog. However if I wanted my dog to have puppies then I needed to
learn about it.
I know that a dog comes in heat roughly every six months. I know it is during that time period the they
would get bred. Some things I have heard from my family was that a bitch has to be bred at certain
times. They will only stand and allow breeding a certain numbers of days. I have no knowledge of
when that takes place. I know that a bitch s cycle can last for weeks. The only way I would know
when my dog needs bred is to put her in with a male and see if she allows him to breed her.
When you don t have a male dog that is hard to do. Picking a male for her is a hard task. When
breeding Australian Shepherd you have to be cautious about which types are bred. I know that you
should not breed a merle to a merle because it cause defects. I am not for sure why this happens so
picking a dog needs to be done carefully.
Section II
When researching my question the first thing that needs to be looked up is a partner. I first looked up
the proper partner for a blue merle. Australian Shepherds can only be breed between certain type. If
the wrong ones are bred it can

The Morning after Pills: Benefits and Side Effects
A prolonged night of uninhibited pleasure often leaves scopes for certain mistakes, which turn out to
be rather troublesome in the long run. The morning after pill is one of the most trusted ways of
emergency contraception that prevents women from getting pregnant in case they had unprotected sex
by accident. While the morning after pill is not the ideal contraception solution for women who
regularly have unprotected sex, it is good for restricted usage. Also, the morning after pill is strictly a
mode of contraception and not one of those abortion pills that are way more harmful for the overall
health and well being of a woman.
Following are some of the scenarios in which the morning after ... Show more content on

Well, as the very name suggests, the morning after pill should be taken preferably within 12 hours
after a contraceptive accident. However, you can also take it within 72 hours of having an unprotected
sex. It works towards preventing pregnancy in the following three ways:
The pill temporarily stops the release of an egg from the ovary
It prevents fertilization
It prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus
Having said that, the morning after pill is in, no way, an abortion pill and therefore it will never
terminate pregnancy should you have already conceived.
Benefits and Side Effects
The best part of using the morning after pill is that it is quite reliable as compared to the other methods
of contraception after unprotected sex. All you need to do is just take one pill and that too within a
given span of time. For most women, taking the morning after pill once in a while causes no harm.
With that being said, for women who have a medical history of being allergic to the active ingredients
contained in the pill, intake of the pill should be avoided. Some of the other side effects may include
the following:
Nausea
Fatigue or dizziness
Change in menstrual cycle
Breast tenderness

Italy Culture
Chao, or hello in Italy. The culture of Italy is of particular interest to me because my father s side of

Italian is the proud creator of pasta. Although my dad s side of the family is Italian we don t have
everything in common. Italy is a great a beautiful country with some pretty interesting facts. I can t

Italy is located in the continent of Europe. Italy is sometimes compared to a boot because it is shaped

For example, Italy treats soccer as like a religion in America soccer isn t really the primary sport. My
family likes to watch baseball and volleyball because those are the sports that my sister and I play.
Also, my family likes a variety of different foods. Italians like mostly pasta and pizza, and surprisingly
I dislike pizza very much. I would rather eat certain Jewish foods such as matzo ball soup instead of
the Italian pizza. Lastly, my family (except for my grandpa) doesn t know any of Italy s domestic
language of Italian. My grandpa has taught me a couple of Italian words like mangiare (let s eat in
Italian) when we are at the dinner table and my whole family laughs. We do carry some of the traits of
Italians like we enjoy eating but when it comes to hobbies we seem like aliens to the country s
interests.
Italy is the proud creator of more than just pasta and they have very different hobbies and interest than
the average American family. My family is like jungle animals in a major city compared to the normal
Italian family. Italy has an amazing coastline tracing around three fourths of the country. Although
Italians have many traditions in their country, soccer and eating have to be two of their favorite
activities. Arrivederci, or good bye in Italian because I m gonna go get some delicious chicken

Slumdog Millionaire Film Techniques
Danny Boyles film Slumdog Millionaire follows two brothers from the Juhu slum in Mumbai as they
face the trials and tributes of growing up in poverty. Although Salim, the elder brother, is given the
same childhood experiences and trauma as his younger brother Jamal, his drive and hunger for power
lead him to a life of crime, corruption and misconduct. These actions later have a detrimental effect on
his relationship with Jamal, which in turn, becomes his demise. Boyle uses a range of effective film
techniques to develop Salim s growth as a character which helps to communicate the idea that
ambition can enhance an individual or be the reason for their downfall. Throughout the film, Boyle
uses the varying stages of Salim s life through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This in itself begins to twist and corrupt Salim as he is trying to become powerful by acting
controlling and aggressive to the other children, which, in turn, detaches him for their group as they
consider him, controlling and greedy almost like he s Maman s pet . Boyle s use of these film
techniques to show how Salim s ambition is being used against him. Maman see s this hunger for
power and control in such a young child and uses it to harness control over Salim, moulding Salim
into a replica of himself. Boyle continues to develop these ideas in Salim s adolescents as his childish
naivety is replaced by the defiance and neglect for others that is brought about by the denial of his
childhood trauma. At this point in his life, Salim has changed a lot due to the effects of the tough life
he has had. His childhood trauma has simply been pushed to the back of his mind, but these forgotten
memories are constantly biting at the back of his thoughts further corrupting his ideas of morality and
his hunger for power. Salim is face to face with his idol again. When Maman first enters the room a
dutch angle is used to show the confusion and shock from both parties. Salim and Maman have not
seen each other for years and Salim has changed a lot in that time. Maman and Salim are seen in a mid
shot together. Salim is no longer looking up to Maman as he now

The U.S. government is fully aware that mass killings and hate crimes are distant relatives and close
cousins to domestic terrorism, so in lieu of sponsoring a bill to reclassify the definition of domestic
terrorism, lawmakers like Texas Senator John Cornyn and North Carolina Representative Richard
Hudson sponsor bills such as the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H. R. 38) which
will allow individuals with a license to conceal carry in one state permission to conceal carry in every
state, regardless of State s gun laws The U.S. continues to implement effective initiatives and provide
adequate resources for the war on international terrorism; whereas the threat magnitude of
international terrorism is miniscule in comparison to the number of mass shootings and hate crimes
which take place in this country on a daily basis. Acts of terrorism plants fear and terror into the hearts
and minds of individuals but when mass shootings occur in the U.S., they get classified as murder or
hate crimes. This research will show that mass shootings and hate crimes inflict the same type of
terror in the hearts and minds of individuals throughout communities within the U.S. as terrorist
attacks have inflicted on communities.

Impossibility of Certainty in Hamlet
The Impossibility of Certainty in Hamlet Doubt is that state of mind where the questioner faces no

The Question of Hamlet It is appropriate that William Shakespeare s Hamlet is regarded as the Bard s
greatest dramatic enigma, for misunderstanding is the unavoidable condition of Hamlet s quest for
certainties. Not only is Hamlet bewildered by puzzling visions and by commands seemingly incapable

The King at the time of Hamlet s publication was James I, who had affirmed the Divine Right of
Kings to rule. At a time when the sovereignty of the Monarchy reigned supreme, Hamlet s questioning
of the afterlife, ( To be, or not to be...what dreams may come , III.i.64 74), lamentation at the

rejection of the superiority of Monarchs ( Our monarchs and outstretched heroes the beggars shadows

duality and deceit and the search for meaning and order are central to the essential message of Hamlet
that certainty is unattainable. This duality makes up the entire structure of Hamlet, proving that, A

The Christian Beliefs Of The Trinity
Throughout this semester I have learned many of the different christian doctrines. Many of them were
challenged and also accepted in my weekend trip throughout Saint Louis. I think one of the most
important topics that was discussed during my weekend was the consideration of the Trinity. In the
Christian thought the word trinity is a term used to talk about the Christian doctrine that God exists as
a unity of three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three of the staple thoughts include;
God is three person; each person is divine; there is only one God. In their relations to one another,
they are stated to be on in all else, co equal, co eternal and consubstantial. With these three thoughts
about the Trinity you also must remember that Christianity is a monotheistic religion. When I was
visiting the Jewish Synagogue we talked about what their thoughts were on the trinity and what Mem
talked about was you cannot believe in the Trinity and be Jewish. There are many modern Jewish
people that have considered Jesus to be great, or even one of the greatest Jews who ever lived. They
have been brought up to believe that God is One, this is an idea that excludes any idea of God
manifesting himself through Jesus. Christians, as well as Jewish people, must believe in One God. The
Jewish believe that echad in Hebrew and one in English do mean the same thing and can mean either
single unity or compound unity (God as
One). Many of the critics of the trinity see the

Pros And Cons Of Aspartame
Aspartame Controversy
There has been much research and controversy about the chemical C14H18N205, aka aspartame.
Even though a large amount of research has been done on aspartame, most people are unaware of the
dangers. As consumers, it is important to educate ourselves on what the FDA is approving for human
consumption.
Aspartame is the most common and one of three alternative sweeteners in the United States which can
be found in more than 6,000 products and is consumed by more than 200 million people around the
world (Calorie Control, 2015). You will find these man made sweeteners in many reduced calorie
foods; such as, jams and jellies, powdered soft drinks, maple syrups, chewing gum, juice blends,
frozen desserts, cereals, hard candy and the most popular of products being sodas. Aspartame is also

Aspartic acid significantly raises the blood plasma shortly after ingesting aspartame which leads to a
high level of those neurotransmitters in certain areas of the brain. Too much of the toxin will stimulate
the brain cells to death. Many people are not aware of the many issues and problems surrounding
aspartame because they are not reported in the newspapers or on the news. This is because the
incidents happen one at a time across the U.S. and mainly because people do not associate their
symptoms with the long term use of aspartame.
The FDA has set its acceptable daily intake for aspartame at 50mg. A 12 ounce can of diet soda
contains 180mg of aspartame; and Americans consume approximately 200mg of aspartame daily.
Nutritionists recommend that it would be best to avoid any and all additives in foods, including
aspartame, as they are synthetic chemicals. Instead, choose sweeteners that you recognize as foods
such as honey, pure maple syrup, stevia and apple

Music would be opposed by this growing conservative organization, with concerned parents led by
Tipper Gore going as far to start up the PMRC, or Parent Music Resource Center. The PMRC would
be responsible for the Parental Advisory stickers placed on album covers, and advocated the banning
of specific music, notably rock, that was considered inappropriate for children due to its references to
drugs and alcohol usage, violence, or sexual material (Shonfeld). While its attempt at banning
particular rock tracks at a 1985 Senate hearing failed, the PMRC galvanized a large scale public
opposition towards progressive rock and musical creativity, resulting in a somewhat restricted
availability of newer progressive rock albums and a decreased perception in its moral and social
acceptability (Shonfeld). This would not be the only case of attempted censorship of progressive rock
lyrics. Nancy Reagan, esteemed First Lady from 1981 to 1989, was also be known for her stance
against the liberal counterculture of the 60s and 70s. Arguably, her longest lasting legacy stems from
her Just Say No slogan, an anti drug campaign that condemned drugs and the rock that was construed
with its influence. Her notorious conservatism would go as far as denouncing creative rock artists for
their offensive lyrics and demanding that tracks with such lyrics be removed from concerts in which
she would be present as a guest (Zentz). The conservatism of the 1980s had pervaded and impeded on
the musical freedom so crucial to progressive rock, effectively contributing to its decline. While it is
true that the commercialization and natural schisms of progressive rock greatly impacted its
prominence, the cultural differences between the liberal 1960s and conservative 1980s would

unharmed. You need to pick a place where anyone can find and be at if a tornado comes. Make sure
that everyone is safe. Also, you have to close the windows, if a safe room has windows. But, try to
stay in a safe place without windows. A tornado looks like a thin rope and twirls fast in a circular way.
The winds from a tornado can swish across and go toward the land as quickly as 100 300 miles per
hour. One well known storm is the Great Tri State Tornado. This tornado was devastating and
incredible because it went through three states; Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana in less than 4 hours.
Another very well known storm is the Flint Beecher Tornado. A tornado had struck the cities Flint and
Beecher in Michigan. It had hit at night, so it was more difficult to understand that there was a
tornado, where it is currently, and what it will damage. In the United States, in the Midwest, it is also
known as the Tornado Alley. There, a lot of tornadoes occur. In the Midwest, they have tornado

Japanese Immigration Research Paper
The focus of this personal reflection paper is to share my discoveries about what I expected to find in
class and what actually happened. It is to show that despite my preconceived notions of what
immigration entails, immigration is not only to the United States. Additionally, it is to show that one
perspective in immigration debates in the US does not confer a standard of dialogue in an immigration
debate outside the US. I suppose that since we are all immigrants, since I am an immigrant, I imagined
that we our experiences sometimes the same or similar. My thoughts after reading on Japanese
immigration reflect differently.
To begin, when I lived in Lesotho, I had the opportunity to see others who were immigrants from

For example classify proximity to Japan as blood thinness was a new phenomenon to me. The
Japanese immigration presents for me a different landscape from the one I see in the immigration
news in the US beecause it brings to view several forms of discrimination of Japanese by Japanese in
Japan, and compounds that with problems immigrants face worldwide including in the United Staes.
What I learn from reading about immigration in Japan is that those of Japanese descent fromm Brazil,
Peru or Argentina trying to return home face constant battles with Their identiy and other
Psychologocal impacts of transnational immigration. Apparently, the Political evolution lag that still
allows leaders to continue oppressive immigration policies are also well and alive in Japan.
TyokoYamamoto s paper titled, Migrant support NGOs and the Challenge to the Discourse on Foreign
Criminality in Japan shows that the Japanese facts and figures continue to successsfully portray
migrants and criminals either perpetuating new crimes or making a crime worse. Elaborate charts

and legal residents. This in turn threatens the mythological perception of Japan as homogenous and

Ipatia Research Paper
Hypatia of Alexandria
Hypatia, commonly addressed as Hypatia of Alexandria, was a mathematician, astronomer, astrologist,
and philosopher during the time of Ancient Greece. The city of Alexandria that Hypatia lived in was
originally part of Greece, until it was conquered by early Egyptians. Hypatia was born around 350 370
CE and was raised by her father, Theon. Her father was a scholar of the Museum of Alexandria, which
was not, in fact, an actual museum. The Museum of Alexandria was roughly similar to an academy, in
the way that it was an early form of a school. The Museum also included the Library of Alexandria,
which was an area filled with papers and books filled with vast expanses of knowledge. Theon was

Persecution Against An Unchartered Jargon Essay
Persecution Against an Unchartered Jargon
The Webster Dictionary defines the word language as the system of words or signs that people use to
express thoughts and feelings to each other as well as any one of the systems of human language that
are used and understood by a particular group of people (Webster Dictionary). If language is a tool
dedicated as a communication source to understand one another, why is the way certain people talk
being neglected and marked as not an actual language? Language has evolved into more than just
words being expressed through our voices, but has converted into a weapon used to ridicule and attack
other dialects due to how different and unorthodox a particular language may be. James Baldwin in If
Black English Isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? argues that Black English was a form of the
African American community s own dialect of the English language, and neglecting the language as
its own contradicts the definition of the word language itself. Bell hooks explores and points out the
class differences within our society and not just within our colleges major universities, pointing out
how in which assimilation is not inevitable and not required wherever an individual enters. Our own
stories and the way we present ourselves through our words should not be limited to a certain form; in

Who Is Responsible For Cleopatra s Downfall

Cleopatra
Being the most powerful person to rule an area is difficult, but to be female and to be the very last
ruler is even more troubling. Cleopatra, a name known to many, was an Egyptian ruler and last true
pharaoh of Egypt. Cleopatra was born in 69 BC in Alexandria, Egypt to the last dynasty in her family.
Many people have speculated what Cleopatra s ethnicity is, and she very likely has Greek descent and
African background. By the age of 14, Cleopatra had gained joint regent with her father and
eventually after his passing, gained joint monarchy along with her brother, age 10, and herself at the
age of 18. Due to ritual customs, she married her brother and then decided she wanted sole power.

Becoming A Master s Degree For Social Work
I, Carlos Delgado, truly believe that my past and current work experience has served as preparation to
pursue my master s degree in social work. I am very aware that it takes plenty of hard work and
dedication to be successful in a graduate program, yet I believe that my experiences along with my
current work experience will assist me in gaining that success in a master s program. Five weeks
before graduating from California State University Los Angeles (CSULA) with my bachelors in social
work, I was offered a position as a housing caseworker with an agency called Homeless Health Care
Los Angeles (HHCLA). I felt anxious and excitement because I was going to be dealing with the real
thing now, and for the first time I was going to have the title that I always wanted to have, the title of a
social worker. Working at HHCLA has allowed me to expand and improve my case managing skills
and has also given me the opportunity to work on my clinical skills. Being a social worker at HHCLA
and being an intern with the psychiatric social worker and the school of mental health at Huntington
Park High School have taught me to be resourceful, because being resourceful helps me to better assist
my clients needs.
From 2008 to 2014 I was employed in an elementary school where I had to opportunity to work with
the school s social worker in assisting both general and special education students and their families.

Lev Vygotsky s Contribution To Socialcultural Theory
Children can learn in many different ways. When a leaner constructs their own understanding of
knowledge through shared experiences it is called constructivism. This is a learning approach that is
practiced by many teachers today and has proven to be a successful method for teaching and learning
(Powell Kalina, 2009). There are two main types of constructivism. This paper will discuss the
cognitive and social categories as well as Lev Vygotsky s main contribution to socialcultural theory.
Cognitive and Social Constructivism
Both cognitive and social constructivism is based on students creating personal meaning when new
information is presented to them (Powell Kalina, 2009). This meaning is what allows a learner to gain
knowledge. This can either be obtained in a cognitive manner or by social interaction. Powell Kalina
(2009) say it is very important that a teacher understand how these learning approaches work in order
for them to benefit the learner. Adding that both theories must be implemented in a way that students
can connect with them (Powell Kalina, 2009).
Cognitive constructivism is ideas that are constructed on an individual level through personal process
(Powell Kalina, 2009). This relates to how a learner constructs and builds their knowledge. According
to developmental psychologist Jean Piaget sensorimotor stage, children begin to discover their
environment around them through their own senses and physical activity and then language

Face Negotiation Theory By Stella Ting Toomey
Face negotiation theory was developed by Stella Ting Toomey, a professor of Speech Communication
at California State University, Fullerton, who earned her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in
1981. She developed the theory after being influenced by the work of Goffman, and Brown and
Levinson.
Ting Toomey (1988) states an assumption of face negotiation theory is that people in all cultures try to
maintain and negotiate face in all communication situations. Another assumption of the theory
described by Ting Toomey (1988) is that face is problematic in sensitive interpersonal situations, such
as conflict. According to Oetzel and Ting Toomey (2003), the theory is useful in explaining both
differences and similarities in face and facework during conflict situations. Many scholars have
researched specific areas regarding face negotiation theory. The areas mentioned below will focus on
the concept of face, conflict, and intercultural situations. The concept of face is important in conflict
situations because communicators should protect their own interests, and avoid violating others
interests during the interaction. Face has many different definitions, written by many different
scholars. Ting Toomey (1988) defines face as an individual s claimed sense of positive image in the
context of social interaction (Ting Toomey, 1988) . Another definition of face is a claimed sense of
favorable social self worth that a person wants others to have of her or him (Ting Toomey

An Analysis Of Edward Hopper s Nighthawks
To explain, Nighthawks was painted in 1942, right after the U.S. entered World War II. At the time,
the war dominated the culture that Americans lived in, and everything was focused on supporting the
war effort. Necessities such as food or clothing were rationed for troops, and neighborhood wide
drives were held to collect scrap metal. There were advertisements urging people to work for the
patriotic good, and newsreels about battles were shown in theaters before movies (The U.S. Home
Front During World War II). This atmosphere of intense focus and dedication was the result of fear.
The bombing of Pearl Harbor, which was what prompted the U.S. to become involved in the war, was
an invasion of the American consciousness, (Erenberg and Hirsch). ... Show more content on

His artistic career began as he studied at the Correspondence School of Illustrating in New York City
and then at the New York School of Art. While he initially started with learning about illustration, he

was taught by William Merritt Chase, an Impressionist painter, and with Robert Henri, who was a

Hopper took to his artwork He traveled often to many places across Europe, but as mentioned before,
Paris was a particular favorite of his. He married Jo in 1923, and she became a huge part of his artistic

who posed for the woman in Nighthawks (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349).
Hopper struggled as an artist until the 1920s; his work was mostly ignored and unrecognized, and had
to make the majority of his sales from etching and prints. He finally achieved critical success after his
second one man show, Recent Watercolors by Edward Hopper, in which every single painting was
sold (Troyen, 63 64). From there, Hopper began to achieve national exposure and critical acclaim. His
artwork was exhibited in many galleries and collections, most

The Significance Of African-Americans In Film
When a person reaches that point where life has drugged them through the mud merely for the color of
their skin, will shelter these feelings and allow them to manifest at a point, as with the case with
Victor. Why was it so important for the POC in the film to be understood by white men in the group?
Briefly discuss any experiences you have had which would confirm or contend with this felt need.
People of color, specifically African Americans, need to be understood. This is the only group in the
room that does not have an identity. When looking at the group, each man could relate to their original
culture, for example, Lee Mun Wah and David Lee are Chinese descent, Yutaka (Japanese), Hugh
(Mexican/Irish) and Roberto (Mexican/Latino/Chicano), Gordon (European/German), and David C.
(England/Denmark). The only two that had no area to call their own, but America, was Victor and

Lantana and Snow Falling on Cedars
Lantana and Snow Falling on Cedars present a variety of relationships that explore the restrictions of
characters in a culturally limiting society, and ones with intertwining emotions and secrets that contain
a darker reality. The crucial type of relationship in both texts is the forbidden connections that are
abundant with unrealistic expectations, developed through characterisation as the plot progresses. The
texts also display the relationships that have become dysfunctional after significant events, detailing
the long term effects on the characters through dialogue. The two texts provide elaborate explanations
on these relationships, while exploring the reactions of the characters and their position in the
relationship.
Both texts incorporate characterisation to portray the character s position in the relationship and the
outcome of their association. The unrealistic love between a young Ishmael and Hatsue, as well as the
temporary connection between Jane and Leon represent the forbidden relationships in the novel and
film. Ishmael is portrayed as a character with the belief that love conquers all, which is depicted
through his declaration that If we love each other we re safe from it all. Love is the biggest thing there
is. , similar to Jane s representation as a naïve character searching for emotion with Leon, through her
attempts to approach him with more than physical intentions. Although they each become physically
engaged, it is Ishmael and Jane who become

Jane Eyre Settings
Mysterious, complex, and utterly captivating, Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre constantly leaves the
reader with more questions than answers. The book consists of constant plot twists, all of which
eventually make sense in the end. Perhaps what is most fascinating about Jane Eyre is the setting
behind it. Throughout the novel, Jane Eyre travels to many places over multiple years. Through
analysis it is clear that these different settings relate to each period and development in her life.
Commonly contrasting and seemingly insignificant, the details behind locations such as Thornfield
and Ferndean allow Bronte to develop Jane as a character as well as create a deeper meaning behind
her work. Thornfield and Ferndean are contrasting in both their literal and metaphorical meanings.
When the compound words of each title are broken apart, additional insight can be found. The Thorn

that if more men are in the field, it must mean they are slightly better and that those job skills come

Temptation Is An Unavoidable Part Of Life
Temptation is an unavoidable part of life that has been around since the creation of the world and man.
After the creation of man, God placed him in the Garden of Eden, and gave him dominion over the
Garden and everything in it. The only command given to man, by God, was to not eat from one
particular tree or he would die. In an act of rebellion against God, Satan approached Eve and
persuaded her to eat from the tree that God forbade them from eating. This persuasion included lying
to Eve about dying and that they would be like God (Genesis 3:4 5, NIV). On top of the lies, the
woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye (Genesis 3:6, NIV).
Satan placed Eve in a situation where she gave in to her desires, lust for the fruit, envy and greed to be
like God, these are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Just because Satan
tempted Eve does not mean that she sinned, temptation is not to be equated with sin (Towns, The
Essential Element of Sin, 2002). Eve acted on her desires and ate the forbidden fruit. She in turn, led
Adam to eat from the tree. This act of defiance, by Adam and Eve, against God resulting from the
temptation and deception, by Satan, led to the original sin and to the fall of man. The fall of man
resulted in the spiritual separation of man from God. Temptation led to sin that then led to the fall of
man and resulted in a separation from God that comes to an end with spiritual and physical

the topic of Child Soldiers presented a very interesting dilemma that several countries in Africa

readings that try to depict this story of the civil war. In class, we have viewed two films representing
the problems with child soldiers in Sierra Leone which include films titled Blood Diamond and Ezra.

Their minds are controlled by the RUF and if they did not comply with the orders of the organization

Blood Diamond, the western view of this miserable story of Sierra Leone is depicted. Having viewed
the film several times I now understand the real reason behind the film. Because it is in a western,
Hollywood view, the film can only keep the attention of the viewers if there is some kind of white
influence. With that said, even though the story of child soldiers is what is meant to be depicted, the
love story between a South African Journalist and an American diamond smuggler is what is
represented instead. Instead of focusing on the true matter at hand, Hollywood insists on using the
talents of Leonardo Di Caprio to misrepresent the issues over diamonds in Sierra Leone. In the film, it
is misleading to see how savage like the children of Sierra Leone are made out to be. The story almost
seemed too good to be true in the film and to anyone who does not know much about the situation in
Sierra Leone it may have been a great film. In my opinion it was a very sad excuse for a film and the
film in every way used the situation in Sierra Leone as an advantage to the boost of some of
Hollywood s best actors careers. The other film viewed in class entitled Ezra depicted the story of

African art had a very distinct style that made it stand out from many of the other cultures. One
specific aspect of African art was the masks and sculpted heads that represented rulers or royal family

The Memorial Head of an Oba is from Benin, Nigeria and it was created in the sixteenth century CE.

  • 4. What Was The Purpose Of The Proclamation Purpose The Proclamation of 1763 was made after the French and Indian War to make sure that colonists did not move further west. King George had made this proclamation because he wanted to preserve Native American land, so that the Native Americans may want to help him in the future. This was also to make sure that the colonies stayed under British control because if the people moved too much west Britain would not be able to keep a tight control over the people. Act This proclamation stated that no colonists were allowed to move or settle west of the Appalachian Mountain Range. It was created on October 7, 1763 by King George III, and made sure that the Native Americans stayed west and the colonists stayed east of the Mountains. The proclamation was also a way of trying to satisfy the Native Americans, who had recently helped in Britain s Seven Year s War Effect As a result of this proclamation, 7,500 British soldiers were sent to the colonies to enforce the rule and to stop colonists from rebelling. Colonists saw this as a sign of tyranny and abuse of power on the king s side and did not want to follow this rule. King George was able to keep control of the colonies for a longer period of time because the people couldn t move, and the colonies became very cramped, as more people were arriving but the land was not expanding. The Stamp Act (March 22, 1765) Purpose The purpose of the Stamp Act was to help pay off debts that the British owed to other countries from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. American Exceptionalism As John Winthrop once described what would become the United States as a city upon a hill, American Exceptionalism was born on enlightenment principles of political liberty and equality. This political foundation of liberty and equality for the United States in the new world was founded on the idea of natural, God given rights, and these enlightenment principles seen the Declaration of Independence became the core of American political thought would survive and evolve through nineteenth century Hegelism culminating in the American Civil War. The most famous of Enlightenment thinkers was an Englishmen by the name of John Locke, the father of liberalism. In his work, Second Treatise Concerning Civil Government, Locke famously stated that Reason, which is the law, teaches all mankind who will but consult it...no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions; for men being all the workmanship of one omnipotent and infinitely wise Maker. This was summarized down to Life, Liberty, and Property, where no man can or should be derived of his personal freedoms and that all men are equal under God. While these ideas did not take hold in in Europe until the French Revolution in 1789, they did take root in the English colonies in America for their founding in 1776. When the thirteen colonies voted to break away from the United Kingdom, they had Thomas Jefferson write the declaration of independence, and the main inspiration for this was John Locke. The most ... • 6. The Age Of The Middle Class The whole idea of teenager came during the mid 1920 s also known as the prosperity decade. This was a time when everything seemed to be going right for the middle class americans. The economy was booming and for the white middle class things appeared to be going quite well. The theory behind teenagers was to create a grace period between childhood and adulthood, in which an individual was able to learn and grow from their experiences. But as the years progress the ease into adulthood started to become more of a steep cliff rather than the gradual incline (ushistory.org). As a teenager, I believe that the teenage community is being stereotyped as a lazy and irresponsible generation perceived by other older generations, but that stereotype is not true. It is illogical to compare one group to another solely based on out of date ideals. The way we have analyzed teen brains is a correlation that has yet to be proven. II. Every generation grows up with different obstacles which cannot be compared to other generations because every person has a different background no matter who they identify as. Each generation is separated by the events that happened during their lifetime, that is the whole reason we separate generations in the first place to distinguish them. In the August 2014 Huffington Post Article, generations Z Stereotyped as the Apathetic generation , a journalist for the Huffington Post, Julianne Micoleta summarizes the thoughts of high schoolers and their teachers on ... • 7. I Know About Breeding A Dog Essay In 2015 for christmas I had recieved a female Australian Shepherd puppy. She is a blue merle with brown eyes. When I first got her I loved her and couldn t wait for her to be old and have puppies of her own. What I didn t understand is how difficult of a process it was to get a dog bred. I didn t know the first thing about breeding a dog. However if I wanted my dog to have puppies then I needed to learn about it. I know that a dog comes in heat roughly every six months. I know it is during that time period the they would get bred. Some things I have heard from my family was that a bitch has to be bred at certain times. They will only stand and allow breeding a certain numbers of days. I have no knowledge of when that takes place. I know that a bitch s cycle can last for weeks. The only way I would know when my dog needs bred is to put her in with a male and see if she allows him to breed her. When you don t have a male dog that is hard to do. Picking a male for her is a hard task. When breeding Australian Shepherd you have to be cautious about which types are bred. I know that you should not breed a merle to a merle because it cause defects. I am not for sure why this happens so picking a dog needs to be done carefully. Section II When researching my question the first thing that needs to be looked up is a partner. I first looked up the proper partner for a blue merle. Australian Shepherds can only be breed between certain type. If the wrong ones are bred it can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many of them were challenged and also accepted in my weekend trip throughout Saint Louis. I think one of the most important topics that was discussed during my weekend was the consideration of the Trinity. In the Christian thought the word trinity is a term used to talk about the Christian doctrine that God exists as a unity of three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three of the staple thoughts include; God is three person; each person is divine; there is only one God. In their relations to one another, they are stated to be on in all else, co equal, co eternal and consubstantial. With these three thoughts about the Trinity you also must remember that Christianity is a monotheistic religion. When I was visiting the Jewish Synagogue we talked about what their thoughts were on the trinity and what Mem talked about was you cannot believe in the Trinity and be Jewish. There are many modern Jewish people that have considered Jesus to be great, or even one of the greatest Jews who ever lived. They have been brought up to believe that God is One, this is an idea that excludes any idea of God manifesting himself through Jesus. Christians, as well as Jewish people, must believe in One God. The Jewish believe that echad in Hebrew and one in English do mean the same thing and can mean either single unity or compound unity (God as One). Many of the critics of the trinity see the ... I am very aware that it takes plenty of hard work and dedication to be successful in a graduate program, yet I believe that my experiences along with my current work experience will assist me in gaining that success in a master s program. Five weeks before graduating from California State University Los Angeles (CSULA) with my bachelors in social work, I was offered a position as a housing caseworker with an agency called Homeless Health Care Los Angeles (HHCLA). I felt anxious and excitement because I was going to be dealing with the real thing now, and for the first time I was going to have the title that I always wanted to have, the title of a social worker. Working at HHCLA has allowed me to expand and improve my case managing skills and has also given me the opportunity to work on my clinical skills. Being a social worker at HHCLA and being an intern with the psychiatric social worker and the school of mental health at Huntington Park High School have taught me to be resourceful, because being resourceful helps me to better assist my clients needs. From 2008 to 2014 I was employed in an elementary school where I had to opportunity to work with the school s social worker in assisting both general and special education students and their families. • 28. Lev Vygotsky s Contribution To Socialcultural Theory Children can learn in many different ways. When a leaner constructs their own understanding of knowledge through shared experiences it is called constructivism. This is a learning approach that is practiced by many teachers today and has proven to be a successful method for teaching and learning (Powell Kalina, 2009). There are two main types of constructivism. This paper will discuss the cognitive and social categories as well as Lev Vygotsky s main contribution to socialcultural theory. Cognitive and Social Constructivism Both cognitive and social constructivism is based on students creating personal meaning when new information is presented to them (Powell Kalina, 2009). This meaning is what allows a learner to gain knowledge. This can either be obtained in a cognitive manner or by social interaction. Powell Kalina (2009) say it is very important that a teacher understand how these learning approaches work in order for them to benefit the learner. Adding that both theories must be implemented in a way that students can connect with them (Powell Kalina, 2009). Cognitive constructivism is ideas that are constructed on an individual level through personal process (Powell Kalina, 2009). This relates to how a learner constructs and builds their knowledge. According to developmental psychologist Jean Piaget sensorimotor stage, children begin to discover their environment around them through their own senses and physical activity and then language ... • 29. Face Negotiation Theory By Stella Ting Toomey Face negotiation theory was developed by Stella Ting Toomey, a professor of Speech Communication at California State University, Fullerton, who earned her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 1981. She developed the theory after being influenced by the work of Goffman, and Brown and Levinson. Ting Toomey (1988) states an assumption of face negotiation theory is that people in all cultures try to maintain and negotiate face in all communication situations. Another assumption of the theory described by Ting Toomey (1988) is that face is problematic in sensitive interpersonal situations, such as conflict. According to Oetzel and Ting Toomey (2003), the theory is useful in explaining both differences and similarities in face and facework during conflict situations. Many scholars have researched specific areas regarding face negotiation theory. The areas mentioned below will focus on the concept of face, conflict, and intercultural situations. The concept of face is important in conflict situations because communicators should protect their own interests, and avoid violating others interests during the interaction. Face has many different definitions, written by many different scholars. Ting Toomey (1988) defines face as an individual s claimed sense of positive image in the context of social interaction (Ting Toomey, 1988) . Another definition of face is a claimed sense of favorable social self worth that a person wants others to have of her or him (Ting Toomey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. An Analysis Of Edward Hopper s Nighthawks To explain, Nighthawks was painted in 1942, right after the U.S. entered World War II. At the time, the war dominated the culture that Americans lived in, and everything was focused on supporting the war effort. Necessities such as food or clothing were rationed for troops, and neighborhood wide drives were held to collect scrap metal. There were advertisements urging people to work for the patriotic good, and newsreels about battles were shown in theaters before movies (The U.S. Home Front During World War II). This atmosphere of intense focus and dedication was the result of fear. The bombing of Pearl Harbor, which was what prompted the U.S. to become involved in the war, was an invasion of the American consciousness, (Erenberg and Hirsch). ... While he initially started with learning about illustration, he eventually began to study painting and drawing (Levin, Hopper). At the New York School of Art, he was taught by William Merritt Chase, an Impressionist painter, and with Robert Henri, who was a realist (Murphy). Perhaps being exposed to their teachings were what influenced the approach that Hopper took to his artwork He traveled often to many places across Europe, but as mentioned before, Paris was a particular favorite of his. He married Jo in 1923, and she became a huge part of his artistic process. She kept detailed records of his pieces and often modeled for them; in fact, she was the one who posed for the woman in Nighthawks (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349). Hopper struggled as an artist until the 1920s; his work was mostly ignored and unrecognized, and had to make the majority of his sales from etching and prints. He finally achieved critical success after his second one man show, Recent Watercolors by Edward Hopper, in which every single painting was sold (Troyen, 63 64). From there, Hopper began to achieve national exposure and critical acclaim. His artwork was exhibited in many galleries and collections, most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Significance Of African-Americans In Film When a person reaches that point where life has drugged them through the mud merely for the color of their skin, will shelter these feelings and allow them to manifest at a point, as with the case with Victor. Why was it so important for the POC in the film to be understood by white men in the group? Briefly discuss any experiences you have had which would confirm or contend with this felt need. People of color, specifically African Americans, need to be understood. This is the only group in the room that does not have an identity. When looking at the group, each man could relate to their original culture, for example, Lee Mun Wah and David Lee are Chinese descent, Yutaka (Japanese), Hugh (Mexican/Irish) and Roberto (Mexican/Latino/Chicano), Gordon (European/German), and David C. Lantana and Snow Falling on Cedars Lantana and Snow Falling on Cedars present a variety of relationships that explore the restrictions of characters in a culturally limiting society, and ones with intertwining emotions and secrets that contain a darker reality. The crucial type of relationship in both texts is the forbidden connections that are abundant with unrealistic expectations, developed through characterisation as the plot progresses. The texts also display the relationships that have become dysfunctional after significant events, detailing the long term effects on the characters through dialogue. The two texts provide elaborate explanations on these relationships, while exploring the reactions of the characters and their position in the relationship. Both texts incorporate characterisation to portray the character s position in the relationship and the outcome of their association. The unrealistic love between a young Ishmael and Hatsue, as well as the temporary connection between Jane and Leon represent the forbidden relationships in the novel and film. Ishmael is portrayed as a character with the belief that love conquers all, which is depicted through his declaration that If we love each other we re safe from it all. The book consists of constant plot twists, all of which eventually make sense in the end. Perhaps what is most fascinating about Jane Eyre is the setting behind it. Throughout the novel, Jane Eyre travels to many places over multiple years. Through analysis it is clear that these different settings relate to each period and development in her life. Commonly contrasting and seemingly insignificant, the details behind locations such as Thornfield and Ferndean allow Bronte to develop Jane as a character as well as create a deeper meaning behind her work. Thornfield and Ferndean are contrasting in both their literal and metaphorical meanings. When the compound words of each title are broken apart, additional insight can be found. Being that they had lived in Vietnam for the majority of their life, at the time, my parents traveled over with little to no familiarity of the American culture or language. • 36. Temptation Is An Unavoidable Part Of Life Temptation is an unavoidable part of life that has been around since the creation of the world and man. After the creation of man, God placed him in the Garden of Eden, and gave him dominion over the Garden and everything in it. The only command given to man, by God, was to not eat from one particular tree or he would die. In an act of rebellion against God, Satan approached Eve and persuaded her to eat from the tree that God forbade them from eating. This persuasion included lying to Eve about dying and that they would be like God (Genesis 3:4 5, NIV). On top of the lies, the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye (Genesis 3:6, NIV). Satan placed Eve in a situation where she gave in to her desires, lust for the fruit, envy and greed to be like God, these are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Just because Satan tempted Eve does not mean that she sinned, temptation is not to be equated with sin (Towns, The Essential Element of Sin, 2002). Eve acted on her desires and ate the forbidden fruit. She in turn, led Adam to eat from the tree. This act of defiance, by Adam and Eve, against God resulting from the temptation and deception, by Satan, led to the original sin and to the fall of man. The fall of man resulted in the spiritual separation of man from God. Temptation led to sin that then led to the fall of man and resulted in a separation from God that comes to an end with spiritual and physical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Child Soldiers in Sierra Leone Africa in Cinema Final Paper Professor Rice May 2010 Child Soldiers in Sierra Leone This semester, the topic of Child Soldiers presented a very interesting dilemma that several countries in Africa continue to face today. Sierra Leone, in particular, has struck an interest because of the many films and readings that try to depict this story of the civil war. In class, we have viewed two films representing the problems with child soldiers in Sierra Leone which include films titled Blood Diamond and Ezra. Their minds are controlled by the RUF and if they did not comply with the orders of the organization they were immediately killed. This type of life is so unimaginable but still continues as we speak. In Blood Diamond, the western view of this miserable story of Sierra Leone is depicted. Having viewed the film several times I now understand the real reason behind the film. Because it is in a western, Hollywood view, the film can only keep the attention of the viewers if there is some kind of white influence. With that said, even though the story of child soldiers is what is meant to be depicted, the love story between a South African Journalist and an American diamond smuggler is what is represented instead. Instead of focusing on the true matter at hand, Hollywood insists on using the talents of Leonardo Di Caprio to misrepresent the issues over diamonds in Sierra Leone. In the film, it is misleading to see how savage like the children of Sierra Leone are made out to be. The story almost seemed too good to be true in the film and to anyone who does not know much about the situation in Sierra Leone it may have been a great film. In my opinion it was a very sad excuse for a film and the film in every way used the situation in Sierra Leone as an advantage to the boost of some of Hollywood s best actors careers.
