Italian Renaissance Essay
The Italian Renaissance was the rebirth of cultural antiquity between the 14th and 16th century. The
Renaissance is known for its style of art, sculptures, and decorative art. The art created usually
represented the Bible and the idea of individualism, along with keeping the original style of the
Greeks and Romans. During this period, artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo gained
popularity. Leoonardo da Vinci s most famous paintings include Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
Michelangelo s creations encompass the Pietà and David. With these new artists came new techniques
that quickly gained appreciation all over the world. Linear Perspective emerged through one of the
artistic problems in the Italian Renaissance. The answer

Abigail Williams Cruelty
On the first FRQ3 of the year, I received a score of seven points out of a total of nine points possible.
The prompt had to do with the role of cruelty in literature works as a whole and my job was then to
write a well developed essay analyzing how cruelty functions in the work as a whole and what the
cruelty reveals about the perpetrator and/or victim. In this essay, I decided to use The Crucible and
how the character, Abigail Williams, uses cruelty to benefit herself and her selfish ambitions. Though
a seven is a decently good score, it was definitely not the best I could do. One of my peers graded my
paper a seven with the reason that it was a little roughly written and somewhat vague but hit all the
main points . The other said that my essay answered the prompt pretty well, although their details
from the text could have used more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though I hit all the major requirements of the prompt, the overall essay could have be written much
smoother and I could have expanded on my analysis. One thing I noticed as well was that I should
have related my argument to the theme of the actual story. For example, my last sentence in the
paragraph that I explained the role of cruelty in The Crucible was In simple terms, Abigail killed many
innocent people solely for the purpose of getting a man to love . At this point, I could have easily
expanded on how this was indeed cruelty and how it relates to the actual theme of the literary work.
What I should have done was relate my argument and assertion to the book as whole and use this to
further relate The Crucible to cruelty. For the second part of my prompt which was to [analyze] what
the cruelty reveals about the perpetrator and/or victim , I feel as though I did a good job on that. Both
my peers graded that part with either a five out of five or a four out of five. They said that I showed
what cruelty revealed about Abigail Williams and John Proctor very

Killing over 100 African American men and harming an entire community, not other study in human
medicine would have more severe and lasting consequences as The Tuskegee Syphilis Study.
Spanning 40 years, it is the longest human experiment in the history of medicine. This study pushed
the boundary of medical ethics: exposing a vulnerable community to extensive harm, pushing the
limits of one s trust in medical professionals, enticing recruits through use of social benefits, and
stretching the capabilities of study deception. This study would live on to shape public perception of
medical bioethics, and create a lasting barrier between African Americans and medical equality. The

Anybody who has ever received a vaccination, received genetic history information, or has taken just

Doctors at Hopkins stated that the role of blacks in medicine is to make sacrifices to further and

The Technique Of Film And Video Editing
Summarizing
The Technique Of Film Video Editing.
Film first began in 1895. By the time the first motion picture was made, editing was non existant. The
very first films made were less than a minute long. Only films like Melies used at least a little bit of
editing. Melies films also grew longer in length, however they were all still single shots. Although the
films were edited to have multiple shots and to tell a story, they were not made in a manner that we are
now used to. It was only until the movies of Edwin S. Porter that film editing started to have a
meaning.
EDWIN S. PORTER FILM CONTNUITY BEGINS
Intrigued by the length and quality of Me´lie`s s work, In 1903 Edwin S. Porter began to use a visual
continuity to make his films more compelling. In one of his films The Life of an American Fireman
(1903)he uses 20 shots in six minutes to show how the mother and child are saved. Porter believes that
a single should stand as the basic principle of editing. The job of the camera was simply to record the
shot and not add ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Griffith. Emotional relevance plays a major role in this film, and to capture the most emotional scenes
in the narrative I will be using Close up shots. A camera technique made famous by D.W.
Griffith(Dancygey 2011: 5). Like Mr. Griffith tried to achieve with his audience, I want the spectators
watching our film to show sympathy towards our protagonist. This will make them feel emotionally
involved with the film(Dancyger 2011: 5). The scene in the beginning of the film where the actor
sheds a tear, I will be using the close up shot and paying clearly emphasis on the tear as it drops from
his eyes. This scene immediately tells us that the car guard is not proud with the position of life he is
in. Another scene that I will be using a close up shot will be the ending scene as the car guard starts to
realise his life is about to

Study Skills Process Analysis
In class we have learned skills on how to be an active note taker and studier. I have learned in the past
ways to do both; however, the ideas presented were very good ways for some people. Throughout this
essay, I will discuss how to study effectively as well as how to take notes effectively. I will also what
changes I have made to my routine for both. Note taking is an incredibly valuable skill, because with
taking notes, you have nothing to reference when you are studying. One good way to take notes is by
writing down keywords and follow them with brief descriptions. This strategy works well because you
do not get lost in a mess of information when studying. Another strategy is drawing a picture of what
it makes you think of, so that when you see the picture it will have the info attached to it. ... Show

My personal favorite is to use flash cards. Flashcards are just a form of word association, when you
see or hear certain words you immediately start to think of something other than that word. For
example, if you say dessert, I think of Apple Pie, then ice cream. Studying with word association
works the same way, so if I say President, I think of the current president and the powers of the
president. Another way to study effectively is to reward yourself for learning a set of information. For
example, when I finish a chapter of note taking and I know the chapter, I watch an episode of Parks
and Recreation. This way you take a little break as well as doing what you like to do. Studying this
way allows studying to become less of a

The Battle Of Stalingrad
During World War II, Germany worked to attack the Soviet Union as a pre emptive strike to crush
their Army and gain valuable resources. The battle of Stalingrad began August 23, 1942 and ended
February 2, 1943. The combatants protecting the city, the Soviet Union Stalingrad Front, a Soviet
subdivision consisting of the 28th Army, 51st Army, 57th Army, 62nd Army and 64th Army consisting
of 187,000 men. The Soviet city was sieged by the Axis moving to expand resources and choke the
Soviet Union from entering Europe. The German army attacking the Soviets consisted of the German

The battle took place within the large industrial city of Stalingrad, creating the largest hand to hand
and building to building fighting in the history of modern warfare. The Germans conducted a large
bombing campaign that completely destroyed the city, opening attacks from their tanks and Infantry
units to complete the destruction of the city. Observation of fields of fire was obscured by ruble,
creating small hiding spaces for snipers and opposing forces and obscuring avenues of approach. Old
apartments sometimes had to be cleared room by room and floor by floor. Several objectives, such as a
sawmill, changed hands 14 times in one day. This availability of cover and concealment gave both
sides an advantage. The weather during this battle dropped to negative 22 degrees Fahrenheit. The
Germans, not prepared for this temperature as Hitler believed that the battle would be over by the
beginning of winter. The German forces consisted of the German Army Group B, 6th Army, and 4th
Panzer Army. The Romanian Third Army and Fourth Army. The Italian Eighth Army. The Hungarian
Second Army. With support of 3,000 artillery pieces, 500 tanks and a total of 1600 aircraft by mid
September of the battle. By the end of September the Germans had air superiority and controlled all
air space. Size and composition of the Germans used the axis forces to cover their flanks during battle,
covering the surrounding area of the city. This will later be exploited as the Achilles heel by the
Soviets. The Germans technological advantage was a superior tank and air force. Their tanks included
better gun turrets, but soon rendered ineffective in the streets of a bombed out city. With the German
air force, they gained air superiority by the beginning of winter,

The Saskatchewan River Watershed Flows
Introduction
The Saskatchewan River watershed is a major river in Canada which flows eastward across
Saskatchewan and Manitoba into Lake Winnipeg. It is a source of water to humans and livestock
(Partners for the Saskatchewan River Basin, 2009). The watershed has a distinctive delta which is the
largest inland freshwater delta in North America. The delta begins at the west of the Saskatchewan
Manitoba boundary (Partners for the Saskatchewan River Basin, 2009).
The South Saskatchewan River watershed flows from the Northern shores of Lake Diefenbaker out of
the Gardiner Dam towards the City of Saskatoon. It continues north to eventually become the
Saskatchewan River (shown in Figure 1 below). The North Saskatchewan River watershed flows
eastwards across Edmonton, Alberta and joins with the South Saskatchewan River watershed to form
the Saskatchewan River watershed. These watersheds provide many recreational attractions such as
fishing and opportunities for sightseeing, canoeing, fishing and hiking. The Saskatchewan River
watershed begins at the confluence of the North and South Saskatchewan River watersheds. From this
point, the Saskatchewan River watershed passes through the Saskatchewan Delta, into Lake Winnipeg,
which eventually drains into Hudson Bay through the Nelson River. Figure 1 shows a map of the
South Saskatchewan, North Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan River Watersheds.

Travis Bowman
I oftentimes find that competition fosters the closest of relationships. This was how I came to know
my close friend and classmate, Travis Bowman. I was 11 years old and had just moved to a new
school. As a child, I was exceptionally shy. I didn t stand out from my peers, and I had no experience
in making new friends. I found that the friends I had before were founded off my parents friends
children, thus I felt quite alone. An area I did manage to shine in however, was my academics. Upon
moving to a new school, I felt threatened. My status as the class star was challenged by another. I did
not know how to deal with this situation. Should I consider him a mortal enemy and spend the next
years competing against him? Should I try to befriend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most students seek to define themselves in the positions they gain, whether it is being president of a
certain club or captain of a sports team, but Travis is unique in that he sees leadership differently. He
thinks that the best leaders are those who are a part of their followers. He doesn t lead by being at the
head of a crowd. He leads by walking with them, sometimes lingering at the back to make sure
everyone makes it. He is truly a man of the people. I have experienced this firsthand. I am one of those
typical high achievers. I have so many positions that it requires two hands to count them all, but I
frequently find that Travis does a far better job in leading. I am the student representative for the
Governor s School students at FCHS and it is my responsibility to keep everyone informed of events
and bring any issues the students have to administration. It is my job to help students wherever
possible, yet I find that most student seek help and advice from Travis. And I understand why. Travis

Introduction:
Planning Commission is a very old system and it will have to be rejuvenated, it will have to be
changed a lot. Sometimes it costs more to repair the old house, but, it gives us no satisfaction.
Thereafter, we have a feeling that it would be better to construct a new house altogether and therefore
within a short period, we will replace the planning commission with a new institution having a new
design and structure, a new body, a new soul, a new thinking, a new direction, a new faith towards
forging a new direction to lead the country based on creative thinking, public private partnership,
optimum utilization of resources, utilization of youth power of the nation, to promote the aspirations
of state governments seeking development, to empower the state governments and to empower the
federal structure.
The above quote was said by PM Modi in his speech at Red Fort on 68th Independence Day. He
announced the formation of a new institution to replace 65 years old planning commission on that day.
NITI Aayog is a brainchild of Modi led BJP Government. Primarily it aims to increase the role of
states in setting up economic policies for them.

Roller coasters have been around for a long time and gotten more fascinating over time. Russian ice
slides are where roller coasters have originated from. They were made in the 1800 s and were 70 80
tall. They called them sliding hills and were used for entertainment. The Russians were bored and
needed something fun to do. They would have gone sledding but the Russian lands did not have very
many hills. They created tall wooden structures and sprayed them with water. The water turned to ice
and then they slid down. They had to walk up a staircase each time they did it. Roller coaster safety

Roller coasters don t have engines. They have to use chains and gravity. Its cheaper and more
efficient. If they had engines they would have to carry the engine and battery up each slope. It would
make it heavier and require more battery power. Roller coasters use a chain. The chain brings it to the
top and lets go gravity takes over and propels the coaster through the rest of the ride. The chain
requires less energy than putting a battery and engine on each cart. On roller coasters you will
experience G s. G s are when you either feel heavier than normal or completely weightless. At the

The Great Alcatraz Escape, 1962
One evening on the Twelfth of July, 1962, three men escaped the so called inescapable, maximum
security prison that we know as Alcatraz. There are many speculations related to whether they made it
out alive or not. Either way, Frank Lee Morris, Clarence Anglin, and John Anglin accomplished an
amazing feat by making history with the most well thought out plan. There is a lot of evidence that
proves, without a doubt, that these men made it out alive, and that they did. Alcatraz is located in the
middle of the San Francisco bay. It officially became a prison in 1934 and was built to house and
contain the most notorious criminals of that time. There were 14 escape attempts total involving 36
different prisoners. However, this one was by far the most publicized and successful one. Frank Lee
Morris was in Alcatraz for Crimes ranging from narcotics possession to armed robbery. The Anglin
brothers were also both serving time for bank robbery according to alcatrazhistory.com. The escape
originally started as a four man job. The other man, Allen West, in for car theft. He was greatly
disliked amongst all prisoners and guards alike. It was his dream and goal to escape. Allen West
supplied makeshift knives and all four of them slowly chipped away the concrete around their air
vents. West s hole was made too big and was too noticeable so it had to be covered up with new
cement. Meanwhile they started to collect rain jackets that would later be used to create a raft and life

We understand that things happen in a person life that must have actions taken as soon as possible.
There are a few options the employee has as far as time off or leave. All time off or leaves are unpaid
but the employee can choose the time off needed.
1. The fist leave/time off the company offers is a 10 day personal leave. This is for employees that
have worked out their 60 day probation period. You can request this leave only if your probation
period is over. This is an unpaid leave and employees must return to work after the 10 days or they are
considered as job abandonment at which time termination will follow. 2. The second leave/time off
granted to the employee is a 30 day personal leave. This is for employees that have worked out their
60 day probation period. You can request this leave only if your probation period is over. This is an
unpaid leave and employees must return to work after the 30 days or they are considered as job
abandonment at which time termination will follow.
3. The last leave/time off the company offers is FMLA. To qualify for time off through FMLA,
employees must be employed for 12 month and a minimum of 1,250

The Symptoms Of Dementia
The human brain is the most complex organ in the body, the seat of who human beings are, and what
they are. In the early 1800s, German physician Franz Joseph Gall suggested that different parts of the
brain control specific aspects of behavior. Functions such as movement, memory, speech, and the
overall behavior are controlled by localized parts of the brain. Unfortunately, recent research indicates
that as people age, various mental skills decline at different rates. Furthermore, one of the mental
diseases that affect mostly older people is dementia. Dementia is a syndrome (a group of related
symptoms) associated with an ongoing decline of the brain and its abilities (1). It describes a set of
symptoms that result in different types and treatments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them are far more common than others. They are often named after the condition that has
cause the dementia. The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer s disease. Other causes might
include injury or other diseases such as vascular dementia, dementia with lewy bodies, and a lot more.
In rare cases, people with Parkinson s disease, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, and
Huntington s disease have an increased chance of developing dementia. Additionally, depending on
the type of dementia, the symptoms can vary greatly. The most common symptom of dementia is
memory loss, but there are far more other symptoms of dementia such as impairments in
communication, language, focus, reasoning and judgment. Moreover, most types of dementia can t be
cured completely as They are progressive causing the brain cells to damage and die over time. But,
early diagnosis helps to control the symptoms and slow them down. Different drugs are prescribed for
different types of dementia. They can improve the symptoms, and some can stop the symptoms
temporarily. A person with mild to moderate Alzheimer s disease or mixed dementia may be
prescribed donepezil (often known by the brand name Aricept), rivastigmine (eg Exelon) or
galantamine (eg Reminyl). Donepezil, rivastigmine and galantamine can be helpful for someone with
dementia with Lewy bodies who has distressing hallucinations or delusions, or who has behaviours
that challenge(2). For a person with vascular dementia, drugs will be offered to treat the underlying
conditions. These conditions often include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or heart

Street Children
INTRODUCTION
One of the miseries brought by the modern civilization is the situation of the street children. In the old
times, and still now in some areas, children worked with their parents and reamed a lot of things from
them; later, children looked after aged parents, and therefore much value was put on children, and
there was strong bond of affection between parents and child. However, now it has changed. Parents
go to work, and children do not go to work with them. Children only cost much money for food and
education. Parents of a poor family are suffering from much financial stress. As the stress becomes
bigger, their love for their children decreases. Then, a home, which should be a place children receive

Eighteen outreach workers were recruited and assigned to fifteen cities. These workers did referrals,
conducted actual outreach on the streets, conducted interviews, made initial contact with families or

temporary shelter, intake, counseling and referral services through drop in centers. Reception and
action centers run by two city governments receive street children picked up by police for various
offenses. Under the City of Man concept of the former First Lady Imelda Marcos, street children were
regarded as nuisance and eyesore, they had to be eliminated from the street. Temporary shelter,
counseling and value inculcation seminars with families were made available. However, these efforts
provided little impact on their situation. Most of them went back on the street after their release form
the shelter since they had no other alternative to earn a living. From 1984 to 1990 two networks of non
government social development agencies were organized for advocacy, capability building and
coordination. These agencies supported rehabilitation programs for street children and prevention
programs that helped deter child trafficking. The first programs started with a committee of five
agencies, under the Council of Welfare Agencies of the Philippines, Inc. (CWAPI), now known as the
National Council for social Development Foundation (NCSDF). By

Greek and Roman architecture is truly amazing. They each had great ideas, and fabulous productions.
It is said that the Pantheon is to Italy what the Parthenon is to Greece. Both are tremendous
monuments that reek of culture and history. Each had a purpose which was displayed by the design
and construction of each. There are such great meanings behind each of these architecural structures.
The Romans and the Greeks alike worshipped and dedicated their structures and designs to the Gods

remarkable attribute of this temple to the gods is that it is still in use today with much of the original
materials intact. The columns, the marble paneled walls, the floor, and the two enormous bronze doors
are all originals, making the Pantheon the best preserved surviving Roman structure. The Panthenon

had many columns surrounding the interior and exterior of this structure. This place was decorated
with many sculptures along the inner roof top. It was painted in vivid colors, such as red and blue
(Gilbert 370). Refered to as the cella its inner chamber housed the monumental statue of the Goddess
Athena. Pheidias hisself created this thirty foot high statue of Athena Parthenos, consisting of a frame
made of wood, metal, clay, and plaster.

The Field I Have Chosen Essay
Gabrielle Wallace 2714875 The field I have chosen is accountants in New Zealand. Everyone has
skills and predispositions, ever since I have been a little girl I have been meticulous with numbers, and
accounting gives me the opportunity to use my skills. I want to become a senior accountant and carry
on the family business one day. I am currently studying accounting at university, specialising in
taxation and corporate accounting. This essay will give me the opportunity to explore the accounting
industry, it will give me a better edge when I go and work for Ernst and Young this summer. The
forces I will be discussing are women in accounting, deskilling labour, globalisation and data to
decision making. The face of the accounting profession is changing, there are a growing number of
females entering the accounting industry. Previously it retained the image of a male dominated
industry; recently there has been a skew that is noticeably female with women now making up 42% of
the industry according to the NZICAAccording to the New Zealand Institute of Chartered
Accountants, the number of women in accounting has risen by 5% in 2012 and is forecasted to grow.

The Macroscopic Material Behavior Of Concrete
The macroscopic material behavior of concrete is influenced by the geometry, spatial distribution and
material properties of individual material constituents and their mutual interactions. Therefore, it is
essential to study the influence of each material constituent in order to estimate the residual strength of
the structural components. Thus, failure of concrete is a complex phenomenon due to its multiscale
and multiphase nature. When the normal stress in a material reaches its tensile strength, the
inhomogeneities in concrete promote the formation of an inelastic zone ahead of an existing crack
termed as the fracture process zone (FPZ). The FPZ is dominated by various complicated mechanisms
such as crack shielding, crack deflection, aggregate bridging and microcracking around the crack tip
and exhibits a post peak softening behavior under tensile loading. It therefore becomes necessary to
include these effects for predicting reasonably well the residual strength of existing cracked and
damaged structures.
Bridging of coarse aggregate occurs when the crack advances beyond an aggregate that continues to
transmit stress across the crack until it ruptures or is pulled out. The bridging aggregate may be
considered to exert a closing pressure on the crack surface thereby resisting the crack growth and its
magnitude strongly depends on the interfacial properties between coarse aggregate and cement mortar.
Upon loading of plain concrete beams under three point bending, it is

Judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The...
Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the
first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The two
postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that society
oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place specific
motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgment on the reader.
However, while the ideas may be the same, Camus and Shaffer use them contrastingly. Shaffer tends
to use judgment of the self while Camus leans towards judgment of others, but the judgment
ultimately leads back to people who do not conform to the norm. ... Show more content on

The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the jurors
leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in The
Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate both texts
with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and Meursault through
their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the lack of passion in
himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love for the wild and
primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own eternal timidity (2.25).
This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a
psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his patients, specifically Alan. Unlike
Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges himself for becoming a person who
removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever be considered normal and as the play
continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing him. Dysart s specific speeches about
how he hates himself for becoming impassionate and removing the passion in his patients contrast
with society s normal views. These rants, because they are in

The Effects Of Monopoly On Economic Development
Discuss the effects of monopoly on economic development. Is monopoly legal in your country? If so,
give three examples. If not, what are the actions of the government that have been taken to prevent
monopoly?
A Monopoly power as study showcases is when a firm has monopoly power it will engage itself a
little competition. Which also means that a monopoly is a price maker and its demand curve will be
inelastic. If Monopoly set to increase prices demand, it would only fall by a small percentage.
According to Pettinger, R. (2013), a monopoly is likely to cause the following effects in the economy
development as stated below:
i. Monopoly would increase price and decline consumer surplus, in that case, demand is will be
inelastic. By so doing, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monopoly will cause allocative inefficiency by introducing higher prices and less choice for
consumers. vi. A situation where monopolies get too high, they may experience what we call
diseconomies of scale. vii. Monopolies can use their monopoly power to achieve a goal by paying
lower prices to their suppliers. For examples, A Supermarkets will pay low prices to farmers since the
farmers do not have any other choice than to sell their products.
The effects of monopoly on economic development can also be seen from another aspect where we
have Price exceeding Marginal Cost, Price exceeding lowest Average Total Cost. This results to an
efficiency loss (dead weight loss) where we have sum of consumer surplus plus producer surplus is
less than maximum. It can be viewed as a private tax on consumers since the higher price will
generates higher economic profit that is distributed amongst shareholders of the company, who are
mostly from high income groups. Monopoly owner s benefit at the expense of the consumers, since
owners have more income than the consumers, monopoly increases gap between rich and poor. For
example, when a buyer is richer than owners of the monopoly, then income transfer from consumers
to owners may decrease income

Birth Control Should Be Considered A Human Right Essay
Access to birth control and other contraceptives is almost as hotly debated as abortion, when it comes
to women s healthcare and rights over their own bodies. In the article Birth Control Should Be
Considered a Human Right , is about how denying a women birth control is essentially denying about
half the population of the world a choice in what they want to do with their bodies. There are roughly
80 million women who have unplanned/unintended pregnancies and 68,000 women die from botched
back alley abortions each year . Logic would follow that if those women had access birth control the
number of unplanned pregnancies would drop, Research has shown that satisfying the current unmet
need for contraceptives could prevent roughly 150,000 maternal deaths and 25 million induced
abortions worldwide annually . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tex Mex Vs. MexicanAll over the U.S companies and restaurants have made a lot of money selling
Mexican food. In fact, Taco Bell makes about 1.2 to 2.5 million dollars a day! Not just Taco Bell, but
many restaurants and fast food chains try to recreate the authentic tastes and flavors of Mexican food.
Tex Mex is the American version of the food from Mexico. Although it is all over America, it is most
common in the southern states closest to the border of Mexico. Tex Mex and authentic Mexican food
are definitely different. Although there are similarities, you can only find truly authentic Mexican food
in Mexico. Tex Mex is the imitation food of Mexican food. Tex Mex first spread to Texas in the 1950 s
when a lot of immigrants moved to the United States. Nachos were supposedly first served at a
concession at the Dallas State Fair in Texas in 1964. In 1972 a book called The Cuisines of Mexico,
was released and made the distinction between authentic Mexican food and Tex Mex. Diana Kennedy
(the author of the book) used the term Tex Mex and made it popular The term wasn t always used to
describe the food, it used to be an abbreviation for the Texas Mexican Railway. In the early 16th
century, Spain invaded Mexico. Spanish foods had a very big impact on the Mexican cuisine. They
introduced sheeps, pigs, cows, etc. They also brought new products like dairy, garlic, herbs, wheat,
spices, and more. Most Mexican food came from the indigenous people

The Machiavellian Approach to Management Essay
The Machiavellian Approach to Management
Whether you love him/her or hate him/her everybody has one...a boss. Most people have their own
opinions as to what kind of boss it is that they would like to work for. Most would probably agree that
the worst kind of boss is a new boss. This is more than likely due to people s extraordinary fear of
change and the unknown. Whatever the reason, the employee always has the option to leave their
position and seek work elsewhere. The same can not be said for subjects of states, who by no action of
their own, were to be ruled by a new prince. Just as varied as the ways in which one inherits a new
boss, likewise new principalities have an abundance of ways of being acquired. Niccolo ... Show more

Adding fuel to an already explosive situation, by making changes to company policy should be
avoided at all costs. However, as Machiavelli suggests that a boss by birth [has] less need to harm
his[/her] employees, thus putting some of the fears towards the new boss to rest (8).
When a principality is acquired through an acquisition of a non hostile nature, it is the prince who may
have fears. The prince of a mixed principality faces more difficulties than those of a hereditary
principality. Machiavelli suggests that these difficulties derive from one natural problem inherent in all
new principalities: men gladly change their masters, thinking to better themselves (8). Additionally,
the new prince is, out of necessity, going to offend his new subjects by bringing in his soldiers and
[causing] other countless injuries that are involved in his new conquest (8). These same problems will
face the management of a newly acquired business. Those employees that are retained will
automatically look to better their current position by less than honest means. Those left over from the
old regime may be inclined to steal from the company out of fear that they may soon be replaced.
Thus, endangering the already financially unstable situation that an acquisition puts a company in.

The higher associated levels of Lp(a) the more increased risk of disease at an early age.
Lp(a) being a known autosomal dominant genetic trait the expected familial pattern would be around
50% as it is in this family. Some family members may be avoiding disease from various interventions
and lifestyle choices such as niacin therapy, weight loss, and physical activity as well as lack of
concomitant disease. Discussion
The pedigreed family shows an excessive portion of family members with cardiovascular disease
(coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease) in one half of the
subjectssubject s lineage. The paternal side of the target subject has a sibling, first cousin, uncle, three
great uncles, two aunts and great great grandfather with some form of cardiovascular disease. The
maternal side has only a grandfather with cardiovascular disease. If the trait in question Lp(a) were
autosomal dominant one would expect around a 50% gene expression in the studied group. Nine of
twenty in this particular lineage currently show or have shown disease and two subjects are unable to
assess (UTA). This would suggest autosomal dominant inheritance in the paternal half of the target
subject lineage with a suspected two subject incidence yet to be found or attributed.

Discuss The Six Elements Of Tragedy
Tragedy is an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and of a certain magnitude; in language
embellished with each kind of artistic ornament, the several kinds being found in separate parts of the
play; in the form of action, not of narrative; with incidents arousing pity and fear, wherewith to
accomplish its catharsis of such emotions .
This definition of tragedy was created by Aristotle, one of the great philosophers of Ancient Greece
and one of the greatest thinkers of our time. Tragedy was not invented by Aristotle. Instead he used
examples from the works of famous Greek playwrights such as Sophocles, Euripedes and their
epigones to illustrate his ideas. He studied hundreds of texts in great detail and wrote extensively on

Aristotle claimed that the central aim of tragedy is not to depict human personalities, but to represent
human action. He highlights the importance of action because action initiates events; which in turn
makes it the single most important driver of plot. He argues that even though character and thought
drive action, they aren t as important as the action itself. Plot is the arrangement of incidents, and only
in plot can we find contentment, regardless of motivation or underlying cause.
When talking about plot, Aristotle describes the elements of plot, which include completeness,
magnitude, unity, determinate structure, and universality. Completeness refers to the necessity for a
tragedy to have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Magnitude refers to its length; a tragedy should be
a length which can be easily embraced by the memory. However Aristotle maintains that the longer a
tragedy, the better it can be so long as it portrays a change from bad fortune to good, or from good
fortune to

responses were successful because a lot of ancient societies such as the Anasazi and their neighbors

Pan Africanism For Beginners Essay
Sid Lemelle hoped for his book, Pan Africanism for Beginners, to be a comprehensive guide to the
complex concept of Pan Africanism. Lemelle begins the book by broadly defining Pan Africanism to
mean the inclusion of all people of African ancestry living in continental Africa and throughout the
world. This definition sets the foundation for his analysis of Pan Africanism. Pan Africanism for
Beginners explores the major leaders and events associated with Pan African sentiments
chronologically. The exploration begins with the early pioneers of Pan Africanism (20) such as Prince
Hall, Paul Cuffe, Dr. Martin R. Delany, and Fredrick Douglass. While this was an early stage of Pan
Africanism, conflicting views on how to deal the issues of racism and oppression. Prince Hall and
Paul Cuffe believed in the emigration of blacks to Africa. However, Dr. Delany and Frederick
Douglass argued against emigration. Instead, they believed that the United States was their home, and
that they should remain (25). Lemelle notes that Dr. Delany later changed his attributes, however it is
unclear if he changes his views from support of emigration to opposition to emigration or vice versa.
This is not a major weakness; however, it did confuse me as a reader attempting to understand the
beginnings of Pan Africanism. One of the initial major Pan African events Lemelle introduced was the
creation of Sierra Leone s Province of Freedom along with the founding of Liberia. These two ex

Pros And Cons Of Humans And Chimpanzees
It is awful even just to picture how chimpanzees are being anesthetized for more than hundred times
and being put in a small, barren cage for the sake of biomedical science. Chimpanzees are our closest
living relatives both biologically and socially (Stanford et. al., 2017). Humans and chimpanzees shares
lots of similarities genetically and that is one of the reasons why many scientists use chimpanzees for
medical science research. This is also the most important reason on why people who are informed
about the similarities between human and chimpanzees put a very special value to chimpanzees. The
usage of chimpanzees for scientific research has been declining internationally, but chimps are still
being used as subjects for biomedical research in the United States ( Alternatives to Chimp Testing,
2008). In 2012, there was a bill called the Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) to restrict the use of
chimpanzees in biomedical research in the United States. There are huge debates whether this bill is
necessary or not. Without us realizing, we actually have moral obligations to chimpanzees. Thus, all
laws that against and restrict chimpanzees testing, such as the Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) plays
an important role and we should support the bills and laws because of several reasons. First, laws that
protect chimpanzees from invasive research should be supported simply because of the fact that
chimps are really similar to humans. They are our kin. Thus, some justifications are

The deferred taxes reported are a temporary difference. The deferred taxes were calculated based on

He worked at a log company named Ritter Lumber Company for a few years. He then worked on the
Tweetsie railroad. Back then, the railroad was used to transport lumber and other necessities. Sanford
helped drive the train and would put coal in and keep the engine running. My great aunt, Ruth Gragg,
told me a story about when my pawpaw worked with trains, he took one of his sons with him to work
one day. He taught him how to work and drive the train. Then one day his son took the train for a ride

The Capture Rate Of Pokemon
The Capture Rate of Pokémon in the First Generation
Name: Swikriti Dasgupta
Teacher: Mr. Hardman
Period: 6
Introduction: In 1996, the video game company Nintendo, released a game that revolutionized
gaming. They came up with the video game Pokémon . Although I am a girl, I consider myself a
gamer at heart. This game is something that is very dear to me because this game established a strong
relationship between my sister and I. I have always been inquisitive in nature therefore I always
wondered if I could relate my hobby of gaming to math. Although math is a struggle for me, I have
decided to step out of my comfort and explore the first game I played in my life and investigate the
use of math in the capture rate of the pokemons. This was a simple 2 D, 64 bit game that involved the
players moving a character in a fictional world, capturing balls and going on adventures. Players
would have to solve difficult puzzles and train their own Pokémon in order to progress through the
game. They do this by meeting progressively stronger computer controlled trainers along the way and
battling with their Pokémon. The player s Pokémon gain experience through defeating the opponent.
The players can also capture new ones as well. Generally, as the player progresses, stronger Pokémon
appear, and the players have a chance to capture them. They do this by throwing a tennis sized ball
that will transport the entire Pokémon into the ball that they threw with.

Scientific Theories Are Objectively Justified
Scientific theories are objectively justified (Couvalis, 1997) and scientists are seen as being able to
gather and interpret evidence that can be concluded as scientifically proven (Ladyman, 2002). In the
majority of areas in modern society, including justice, health and safety, scientific evidence is heavily
relied upon (Ladyman, 2002). However, there are certain principles that are required for a theory to be
scientific. For example, it must be justified by observation permeated by theories (Couvalis, 1997). In
other words, it must be theory laden. Moreover, scientific theories contain generalisations and one
method for justifying statements with full confidence on the basis of other statements is deductive
reasoning (Couvalis, 1997). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will be considered throughout this essay with regards to the topics of addiction, genocide and
expressed emotion in family communication.
Rassool (2011) defines addiction as any behaviour, activity, substance, object or thing that has taken
control of an individual s life style, that is causing harm to the individual and family (p4). The
majority of us are exposed to a range of addictive behaviours that impact on individuals and families
across socio economic and cultural areas, and it has been argued that we now live in an addictive
society (Rassool, 2011). Addiction is useful in enhancing our scientific understanding of human
behaviour due to its classification via the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th edition (DSM 5),
which is the standard classification of mental disorders. It is used for clinical, research and policy
purposes and has a large influence on the diagnosis and treatments of disorders across many countries
(Hasin et al, 2013). Another way in which addiction can be measured is using the Dependence
Syndrome. According to Edwards and Ross (1976), elements of the syndrome include; increased
tolerance to alcohol, avoidance of withdrawal symptoms, compulsion to drink, and rapid relapse after
abstinence. These measurements of addiction aid our scientific understanding of human behaviour
because they allow for a more reliable and valid diagnosis, consequently impacting treatment and
thus, enhancing psychologists

  • 3. Abigail Williams Cruelty On the first FRQ3 of the year, I received a score of seven points out of a total of nine points possible. The prompt had to do with the role of cruelty in literature works as a whole and my job was then to write a well developed essay analyzing how cruelty functions in the work as a whole and what the cruelty reveals about the perpetrator and/or victim. In this essay, I decided to use The Crucible and how the character, Abigail Williams, uses cruelty to benefit herself and her selfish ambitions. Though a seven is a decently good score, it was definitely not the best I could do. One of my peers graded my paper a seven with the reason that it was a little roughly written and somewhat vague but hit all the main points . Though I hit all the major requirements of the prompt, the overall essay could have be written much smoother and I could have expanded on my analysis. One thing I noticed as well was that I should have related my argument to the theme of the actual story. For example, my last sentence in the paragraph that I explained the role of cruelty in The Crucible was In simple terms, Abigail killed many innocent people solely for the purpose of getting a man to love . At this point, I could have easily expanded on how this was indeed cruelty and how it relates to the actual theme of the literary work. What I should have done was relate my argument and assertion to the book as whole and use this to further relate The Crucible to cruelty. For the second part of my prompt which was to [analyze] what the cruelty reveals about the perpetrator and/or victim , I feel as though I did a good job on that. Both my peers graded that part with either a five out of five or a four out of five. They said that I showed what cruelty revealed about Abigail Williams and John Proctor very ... • 6. The Technique Of Film And Video Editing Summarizing The Technique Of Film Video Editing. Film first began in 1895. By the time the first motion picture was made, editing was non existant. The very first films made were less than a minute long. Only films like Melies used at least a little bit of editing. Melies films also grew longer in length, however they were all still single shots. Although the films were edited to have multiple shots and to tell a story, they were not made in a manner that we are now used to. It was only until the movies of Edwin S. Porter that film editing started to have a meaning. EDWIN S. PORTER FILM CONTNUITY BEGINS Intrigued by the length and quality of Me´lie`s s work, In 1903 Edwin S. I have learned in the past ways to do both; however, the ideas presented were very good ways for some people. Throughout this essay, I will discuss how to study effectively as well as how to take notes effectively. I will also what changes I have made to my routine for both. Note taking is an incredibly valuable skill, because with taking notes, you have nothing to reference when you are studying. One good way to take notes is by writing down keywords and follow them with brief descriptions. This strategy works well because you do not get lost in a mess of information when studying. Another strategy is drawing a picture of what it makes you think of, so that when you see the picture it will have the info attached to it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if you say dessert, I think of Apple Pie, then ice cream. Studying with word association works the same way, so if I say President, I think of the current president and the powers of the president. Another way to study effectively is to reward yourself for learning a set of information. For example, when I finish a chapter of note taking and I know the chapter, I watch an episode of Parks and Recreation. This way you take a little break as well as doing what you like to do. Studying this way allows studying to become less of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Old apartments sometimes had to be cleared room by room and floor by floor. Several objectives, such as a sawmill, changed hands 14 times in one day. This availability of cover and concealment gave both sides an advantage. The weather during this battle dropped to negative 22 degrees Fahrenheit. The Germans, not prepared for this temperature as Hitler believed that the battle would be over by the beginning of winter. The German forces consisted of the German Army Group B, 6th Army, and 4th Panzer Army. The Romanian Third Army and Fourth Army. The Italian Eighth Army. The Hungarian Second Army. • 9. The Saskatchewan River Watershed Flows Introduction The Saskatchewan River watershed is a major river in Canada which flows eastward across Saskatchewan and Manitoba into Lake Winnipeg. It is a source of water to humans and livestock (Partners for the Saskatchewan River Basin, 2009). The watershed has a distinctive delta which is the largest inland freshwater delta in North America. The delta begins at the west of the Saskatchewan Manitoba boundary (Partners for the Saskatchewan River Basin, 2009). The South Saskatchewan River watershed flows from the Northern shores of Lake Diefenbaker out of the Gardiner Dam towards the City of Saskatoon. It continues north to eventually become the Saskatchewan River (shown in Figure 1 below). The North Saskatchewan River watershed flows eastwards across Edmonton, Alberta and joins with the South Saskatchewan River watershed to form the Saskatchewan River watershed. These watersheds provide many recreational attractions such as fishing and opportunities for sightseeing, canoeing, fishing and hiking. The Saskatchewan River watershed begins at the confluence of the North and South Saskatchewan River watersheds. From this point, the Saskatchewan River watershed passes through the Saskatchewan Delta, into Lake Winnipeg, which eventually drains into Hudson Bay through the Nelson River. A Project On Replacing Planning Commission A Project on NITI AAYOG REPLACING PLANNING COMMISSION Sociology II Winter Semester 2014 15 ___________________________________________________________________________ Manthan Jindal ID No. : 214033 ___________________________________________________________________________ Introduction: Planning Commission is a very old system and it will have to be rejuvenated, it will have to be changed a lot. Sometimes it costs more to repair the old house, but, it gives us no satisfaction. Thereafter, we have a feeling that it would be better to construct a new house altogether and therefore within a short period, we will replace the planning commission with a new institution having a new design and structure, a new body, a new soul, a new thinking, a new direction, a new faith towards forging a new direction to lead the country based on creative thinking, public private partnership, optimum utilization of resources, utilization of youth power of the nation, to promote the aspirations of state governments seeking development, to empower the state governments and to empower the federal structure. The above quote was said by PM Modi in his speech at Red Fort on 68th Independence Day. He announced the formation of a new institution to replace 65 years old planning commission on that day. There are many speculations related to whether they made it out alive or not. Either way, Frank Lee Morris, Clarence Anglin, and John Anglin accomplished an amazing feat by making history with the most well thought out plan. There is a lot of evidence that proves, without a doubt, that these men made it out alive, and that they did. Alcatraz is located in the middle of the San Francisco bay. • 20. The Macroscopic Material Behavior Of Concrete The macroscopic material behavior of concrete is influenced by the geometry, spatial distribution and material properties of individual material constituents and their mutual interactions. Therefore, it is essential to study the influence of each material constituent in order to estimate the residual strength of the structural components. Thus, failure of concrete is a complex phenomenon due to its multiscale and multiphase nature. When the normal stress in a material reaches its tensile strength, the inhomogeneities in concrete promote the formation of an inelastic zone ahead of an existing crack termed as the fracture process zone (FPZ). The FPZ is dominated by various complicated mechanisms such as crack shielding, crack deflection, aggregate bridging and microcracking around the crack tip and exhibits a post peak softening behavior under tensile loading. It therefore becomes necessary to include these effects for predicting reasonably well the residual strength of existing cracked and damaged structures. Bridging of coarse aggregate occurs when the crack advances beyond an aggregate that continues to transmit stress across the crack until it ruptures or is pulled out. The bridging aggregate may be considered to exert a closing pressure on the crack surface thereby resisting the crack growth and its magnitude strongly depends on the interfacial properties between coarse aggregate and cement mortar. Camus and Shaffer place specific motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgment on the reader. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and Meursault through their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the lack of passion in himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love for the wild and primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own eternal timidity (2.25). This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his patients, specifically Alan. Alan contains too much emotion to ever be considered normal and as the play continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing him. The maternal side has only a grandfather with cardiovascular disease. If the trait in question Lp(a) were autosomal dominant one would expect around a 50% gene expression in the studied group. Nine of twenty in this particular lineage currently show or have shown disease and two subjects are unable to assess (UTA). This would suggest autosomal dominant inheritance in the paternal half of the target subject lineage with a suspected two subject incidence yet to be found or attributed. • 29. Discuss The Six Elements Of Tragedy Tragedy is an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and of a certain magnitude; in language embellished with each kind of artistic ornament, the several kinds being found in separate parts of the play; in the form of action, not of narrative; with incidents arousing pity and fear, wherewith to accomplish its catharsis of such emotions . This definition of tragedy was created by Aristotle, one of the great philosophers of Ancient Greece and one of the greatest thinkers of our time. Tragedy was not invented by Aristotle. Instead he used examples from the works of famous Greek playwrights such as Sophocles, Euripedes and their epigones to illustrate his ideas. He studied hundreds of texts in great detail and wrote extensively on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aristotle claimed that the central aim of tragedy is not to depict human personalities, but to represent human action. He highlights the importance of action because action initiates events; which in turn makes it the single most important driver of plot. He argues that even though character and thought drive action, they aren t as important as the action itself. Plot is the arrangement of incidents, and only in plot can we find contentment, regardless of motivation or underlying cause. When talking about plot, Aristotle describes the elements of plot, which include completeness, magnitude, unity, determinate structure, and universality. Completeness refers to the necessity for a tragedy to have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Magnitude refers to its length; a tragedy should be a length which can be easily embraced by the memory. However Aristotle maintains that the longer a tragedy, the better it can be so long as it portrays a change from bad fortune to good, or from good fortune to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main ideas of the book are societal impact of environmental damage, climate change, hostile neighbors, withdrawal of support of friendly neighbors, and cultural responses. Some environmental responses were successful because a lot of ancient societies such as the Anasazi and their neighbors started constructing a very extensive irrigation systems. It was successful because the anasazian s were living at higher elevation and cropping on the lower lands and they needed a way to transport water to there. Throughout the book Diamond used many different sources. Especially in chapter 1 he uses six different sources. One of these sources is a personal story of him and Montana. He also uses stories from Stan Falkow, Rick Laible, Chip Pigmen, Tim Huls, and John Cook all in chapter one. In chapter five of the book Diamonds shows multiple pictures of old societies such as rwanda, eastern islands, Anasazi, Maya, Greenland, New Guiena, Dominican Republic, China, and Australia. These pictures are an excellent source because it shows a sense of climate in the pictures and you can see the type of regions he s talking about. • 32. Pan Africanism For Beginners Essay Sid Lemelle hoped for his book, Pan Africanism for Beginners, to be a comprehensive guide to the complex concept of Pan Africanism. Lemelle begins the book by broadly defining Pan Africanism to mean the inclusion of all people of African ancestry living in continental Africa and throughout the world. This definition sets the foundation for his analysis of Pan Africanism. Pan Africanism for Beginners explores the major leaders and events associated with Pan African sentiments chronologically. The exploration begins with the early pioneers of Pan Africanism (20) such as Prince Hall, Paul Cuffe, Dr. Martin R. Delany, and Fredrick Douglass. While this was an early stage of Pan Africanism, conflicting views on how to deal the issues of racism and oppression. Prince Hall and Paul Cuffe believed in the emigration of blacks to Africa. However, Dr. Delany and Frederick Douglass argued against emigration. Instead, they believed that the United States was their home, and that they should remain (25). Lemelle notes that Dr. Delany later changed his attributes, however it is unclear if he changes his views from support of emigration to opposition to emigration or vice versa. This is not a major weakness; however, it did confuse me as a reader attempting to understand the beginnings of Pan Africanism. One of the initial major Pan African events Lemelle introduced was the creation of Sierra Leone s Province of Freedom along with the founding of Liberia. These two ex slave ... • 33. Pros And Cons Of Humans And Chimpanzees It is awful even just to picture how chimpanzees are being anesthetized for more than hundred times and being put in a small, barren cage for the sake of biomedical science. Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives both biologically and socially (Stanford et. al., 2017). Humans and chimpanzees shares lots of similarities genetically and that is one of the reasons why many scientists use chimpanzees for medical science research. This is also the most important reason on why people who are informed about the similarities between human and chimpanzees put a very special value to chimpanzees. The usage of chimpanzees for scientific research has been declining internationally, but chimps are still being used as subjects for biomedical research in the United States ( Alternatives to Chimp Testing, 2008). In 2012, there was a bill called the Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) to restrict the use of chimpanzees in biomedical research in the United States. There are huge debates whether this bill is necessary or not. Without us realizing, we actually have moral obligations to chimpanzees. Thus, all laws that against and restrict chimpanzees testing, such as the Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) plays an important role and we should support the bills and laws because of several reasons. First, laws that protect chimpanzees from invasive research should be supported simply because of the fact that chimps are really similar to humans. They are our kin. Thus, some justifications are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the majority of areas in modern society, including justice, health and safety, scientific evidence is heavily relied upon (Ladyman, 2002). However, there are certain principles that are required for a theory to be scientific. For example, it must be justified by observation permeated by theories (Couvalis, 1997). The majority of us are exposed to a range of addictive behaviours that impact on individuals and families across socio economic and cultural areas, and it has been argued that we now live in an addictive society (Rassool, 2011). Addiction is useful in enhancing our scientific understanding of human behaviour due to its classification via the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th edition (DSM 5), which is the standard classification of mental disorders. It is used for clinical, research and policy purposes and has a large influence on the diagnosis and treatments of disorders across many countries (Hasin et al, 2013). Another way in which addiction can be measured is using the Dependence Syndrome. According to Edwards and Ross (1976), elements of the syndrome include; increased tolerance to alcohol, avoidance of withdrawal symptoms, compulsion to drink, and rapid relapse after abstinence.
