Crozier Head, Saint Michael Trampling the Serpent ---...
Title: Crozier Head, Saint Michael Trampling the Serpent
Culture: early Christian
Date: 2nd quarter in 13th century
Provenience: Limoges, France
Material: copper gilt and champlevбє» enamel
Measurements: 10 Вѕ x 2 7/8 x 5 ВЅ in. As a symbol of jurisdiction and authority of high ranking
catholic prelates, the crozier or known as pastoral staff at times is inspired by the shepherd s
crook. It can be used as a walking stick for support in journeys and in churches before the
introduction of seats.
In this crozier head, Saint Michael known as an emblem of church militant and an archangel (high
ranking angel) is battling the serpent which is the demon or satan. This figure indicate the two very

A pastoral staff with crook head shape on the top was starting to emerge. This kind of pastoral
staff was called a crozier. This luxurious material made type of pastoral staff was used until
nowadays. Most of this kind of pastoral staff often carved with biblical character and always show
two opposing force when they were fighting to each other.
Saint Michael battling the demon serpent was the most popular decoration to be carved on the
crozier because it was the perfect representation of good and evil. It may be true that In art, he is
most frequently shown with a sword, either battling with or standing in triumph over a dragon or
the prostrate Satan (Jones 178). Saint Michael is one of three archangels (the other two are
Gabriel and Raphael) that was mentioned in the Holy Bible. He was known as the general of
heaven, protector of chosen people in earth. In early Catholic church, people considered him as the
defender of Christianity. He was also charged with the guidance of souls here below, to protect
them from devil s snares and to lead them to the eternal light (Englebert, 369).
Saint Michael is a famous character among all Christian figures. He often gave vision to people
and give solution to every problem. An appearance of him once occurred among the monks in
French, who built a monastery under his name, Mont Saint Michael. He also appeared in the cave
of mount gargano, southern Italy on may 8th 492 and until now that

The Ideal of a Man The Ideal of a Woman of the Heian...
The ideal of a man and the ideal of a woman of the Heian court differs significantly from what
people of our modern society might consider ideal, but that is to be expected as our modern
society has had much time to be exposed to and affected by the influences of many different
cultures viewpoints. In comparison, the Heian court was a more closed society, so back then, the
notions of what was acceptable and unacceptable and the standards to which men and women were
measured were more defined. Genji monogatari suggests the standards to which the sexes should be
measured and gives examples of people who meet the standards. It goes without saying that Genji,
the hero of the tale, is the perfect man. Throughout the tale, every character,... Show more content

He obeyed, among others, the convention of sending poems to women after staying the night with
them. Genji was a prodigy when it came to the playing the kin, and he could even play the sЕЌ no
koto. Judging by the way that he was portrayed, I would not be surprised if there was not an
instrument that he could not play. When Genji and TЕЌ no ChЕ«jЕЌ performed Blue Sea Waves,
although TЕЌ no ChЕ«jЕЌ was very skillful in his dancing as if he had rehearsed many times,
Genji was still the person who drew all of the attention from their audience. Genji s dance was so
elegant, and his voice was so beautiful that it was likened to the kalavinka, the bird that sings in
paradise. Genji s prowess with painting was also out of this world. The picture contest in chapter
17 ended immediately after his paintings were revealed, even though the previous contenders were
expert painters brought in specifically for the competition. His paintings were renderings of Suma
and Akashi the places where he had spent his time in exile. Seeing paintings that captured the
essence of the faraway place that Genji had gone to brought tears to everyone s eyes as they were
filled once again with feelings surrounding the despair brought on by Genji s absence. The manner
in which Genji treated his many lovers was another quality that made him such a great man. He
took pity on women for their shortcomings and trespasses against him rather than hating and
blaming them.

Essay Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification
Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification
In the early 19th Century, the growth of nationalism and the growing economic strength of the
German states was very great. The German s shared a common identity in the form of language
race and heritage such as music, literature and poetry. The growing improvements in
communications and transport also brought the states one step closer together. The reduction of the
number of German states from 365 to 39 states made each state more economically and militarily
stronger.
Conditions, particularly economic conditions, were such in 1862 that Bismarck was able to build
on them and gain the credit for their successes.

Nationalism was also at a great high in Europe even reaching to countries out with Europe. The
majority of middle class liberals wished to instate an elected government with freedom of speech
and press. It was clear that these aims could be achieved through a unified Germany, therefore
identifying the liberals with the nationalist cause. In the 1840 s military manoeuvres and political
decisions made by the French which seemed threatening to the Germans provoked strong reactions
from many of the Germans leading to a growth in nationalism and the creation of nationalistic
songs, sung by the German troops such as, The watch on the Rhine . The revolutions, which took
place in France, Italy and the Austrian Empire along with the fall of prince Metternicht, encouraged
the German nationalists who longed for a unified Germany. The middle classes also pressed for
political reform. Revolts in Prussia caused the king to create a Prussian national assembly, which in
the end failed due to lack of strong leadership and right wing oppositions to the collapse of the
assembly.

Essay on Transition to a Professional Nursing
Transition to a Professional Role Jennifer Quijano Florida International University January 26, 2013
Transition to a Professional Role Introduction Nurses who have prepared to assume advanced
nursing roles can contribute to the healthcare system through new ideas and insights in education,
administration, research, and practice. During the process of further education nurses are exposed
to professional socialization, which addresses values, norms and ways of viewing situations that are
unique to the profession. This process will later provide the common ground that shapes the way
work is conducted. Such process, forces nurses to go through different models of transition that will

The neutral zone of Bridges model and stage 5 of Spencer and Adams include the establishment
of new skills and behaviors associated with the change. The individual feels optimistic and a sense
of comfort with the change. In the last stages of both models, the individual experiencing change
internalizes the new role behaviors and feels satisfied. Nursing has dramatically evolved in recent
history in response to the changes in society, the healthcare system as well as to the evolution of
the profession itself. Changes include: an aging and more diverse population, changing
reimbursement practices, new technology and scientific discoveries, new diseases related to social
and environmental problems. Changes in nursing roles represent a shift in the view of nursing
from simply an occupation or job to a profession with a commitment to the role (Blais amp; Hayes,
2011). Changes in the healthcare system affect society s expectation of nursing care. Due to these
high expectations, nurses are returning to school in order to satisfy these prospects and are more
effective in their roles. Prospective nursing students and registered nurses that are returning to
school are undergoing many of the challenges described in these two models of transition. I

Achilles Themes
The saying nothing can beat the classics is really tested when it comes to the book The Song of
Achilles, written cleverly by Madeline Miller since this book is based on The Iliad, written
approximately 3000 years ago by none other than the great Homer. Like many other great books
reimagined, the story has a couple of changes here and there but Miller focuses rather on a
character that does not get as recognition, is not the strongest fighter in all of Greece, does not have
the brightest mind, but is the Philatos [...] Best of men (Miller 349). In brief, what Patroclus
realizes throughout the story is that love requires the willingness to make sacrifices for their

stop him from taking her, Agamemnon realises he, [betrays] [Achilles] by warning [him] (Miller

Achilles. Even though, Achilles ends up admitting Patroclus did the right thing and that he is a
better man than him, Patroclus sacrifices his relationship for Briseis to overcome Agamemnon s
decision to keep Briseis as a war slave. In addition, Patroclus sisterly love he holds for Briseis

Global Warming Is The Cause For The End Of The World
Topic: Global warming is the cause to the end of the world.
Opening/Attention: Have you ever heard or the saying the world is coming to an end ? Has it
ever crossed your mind that this statement could be true? Scientists claim every so often that the
world will end due to natural causes. Even though years have passed and nothing dramatically has
occurred, slowly and slowly, the world is dying. Everyday millions of animals are going extinct,
due to natural causes. Global warming and climate change refer to an increase in average global
temperatures. Natural events and human activities are believed to be contributing to an increase
in average global temperatures. This is all because the world is increasingly changing, and one by
one, nothing and no one will be left. Did you ever wonder about how the earth looked before? Did
it ever cross your mind that earth could have been way healthier before the world s population
increased. I am here to talk to you about more interesting facts, causes, reasons to help and the
future outcomes to understand that for future generations children won t be able to witness what

Description of the American Electorate and Changes in Its...
United States of America has a democratic political system with two major parties: Democratic
and Republican. This research paper will provide the insight on the social and cultural
characteristics of both Republican and Democratic loyalists as well as uncommitted middle. Many
changes occurred in the behavior of American electorate since 1952, however, some trends remain
today. The existence of the Electoral College affects the campaigns of the presidential candidates.
This paper will also analyse the concerns of citizens with this system and whether it is beneficial
for candidates and reveals the true choice of the population.

In addition, recent researches prove that party identification is stable and does not change very
often. The Republican loyalists Protestants valuing traditions, tend to identify themselves with this
party for a lasting time for many generations. Family traditions, the set life style and family
business continuation are cultural characteristics of Republicans. Democrats, on the contrary favor
changes in all fields of life. They are more open to change job positions and move to another place,
providing more freedom of choice to their children. Today, Republicans have more support from
American citizens.
There are factors which do not influence party identity and which are independent on social
grouping or cultural values. For several decades there have been little change at both aggregate and
individual level on party identification. The state of economy and performance of the president
does not change or determine party loyalty. However, party loyalties have a powerful influence on
citizens positions in key issues and voting decisions. The most important notion is that party
identification is based mainly on identification with social grouping rather than on evaluation of
party s ideology or policy. People ask themselves two questions: What kind of social groups comes
to my mind when I think about Republicans, Independents and Democrats? Which group best
describes me?

On December 3 in 1859 Abraham Lincoln gave a speech about John Brown in Leavenworth
Kansas, at the Stockton s Hall, which consisted of The Republican Party National Convention.
Abraham Lincoln who was a republican speaking to and republican audience, mostly talked
about the ideology of popular sovereignty and the Kansas Nebraska act. I noticed that Abraham
only talks about John Brown at the end of a very long speech very briefly, he does not show any
respect to John Brown he only rubs it in that he died at his own phone. This makes me think
Abraham Lincoln has no sympathy towards John Brown, especially because it is the day after his
execution and he is basically insulting John Brown. Old John Brown has just been executed for
treason against a state. We cannot object, even though he agreed with us in thinking slavery was
wrong. That cannot excuse violence, bloodshed, and treason. I noticed that Abraham repeats the
word treason . Treason is a crime of betraying one s country especially by attempting to kill the
sovereign or overthrow the government. I think he uses the word to really justify that what John
Brown did was inexcusable and that he committed a horrible crime and has betrayed the country.
Treason makes you think of John Brown very negatively and that he did something very horrible
and he deserves death. Lincoln also seems to be accusing John Brown of something. It was in

Detroit An American Autopsy Analysis
In the novel, Detroit: An American Autopsy, Charlie LeDuff, a former reporter for The Detroit
News and The New York Times, provides a personal account of his experience of returning to his
hometown of Detroit after journalistic work in New York and Los Angeles. Detroit has long been
a prime example of urban decay: it is a citythat presents images of mass unemployment, political
corruption, looming bankruptcy, abandoned buildings, and senseless slaughter. It has gone through
major economic, political, and demographic decline in the recent decades, with even the city s
notorious and once thriving automobile industry struggling with increasing global competition.

Government officials, such as senators and police officers, were investigated in order to
discover the corruption behind the city s financial issues. Despite being a city where hope
comes short in supply, LeDuff provides a flicker of incorrupt civilization throughout the Detroit.
Firefighters, who are tasked with working in a city that does not provide them with adequate
resources to do so, risk and sometimes lose their lives to save the city from fires. LeDuff narrates
the details of how one firefighter, previously a new friend of his, rushed into an abandoned house
in an effort to save those inside; unfortunately, the house was empty and the collapsing roof ended
his life. He also recounts for his connections with businessmen, homeless individuals, and
struggling homeowners to portray the slivers of hope and determination holding the falling city
together. Regardless of the problems of race, economics, politics, and overall desperation of the
city, LeDuff presents Detroit to be facing issues that transcend so. The government has destroyed
individuals and possibly any positive light the city may see, as well as humanity has been
marooned as people have not only lost jobs but also their relationships between others around them.
With Detroit s recent declaration of bankruptcy in 2013, a once thriving city has hit its all time

Political Changes In The Tang Dynasty
Political changes in this time period in East Asia included the fall of the Tang and the rise of the
Song. The Tang dynasty was in the midst of internal rebellion and nomadic invasions (Martin
117). This eventually led to the abdication of the last emperor, causing the Tang to fall (Bentley
and Ziegler 286). One major change during the Tang era was the rule of Wu Zhao, a female leader.
This was surprising, considering the Confucian belief that women should not lead, but instead be
lead by men. The Song dynastyarose when centralized imperial rule was reestablished by warlords
who ruled Chinaafter the Tang dynastys collapse. Unlike the Tang dynasty, the Song dynasty did

For example, the civil service examination system was abolished, as well as the Confucian
curriculum in education. The Yuan dynasty eventually fell because of rebellions and
assassinations, along with the flawed accounts of the wealth that backed up the flying money.
An outbreak of the bubonic plague in 1368 also added to these problems (Bentley and Ziegler
447). Replacing the Yuan dynasty was the Chinese led Ming dynasty. Under Ming rule, Mongol
influences were swapped for Chinese culture as Emperor Hongwu reinstated the traditional
Confucian curriculum in education and the civil service exams. In Japan, as the Heian period
(794 1192) declined, the power was transferred from the emperor to the shogun. During the
Heian period, Japan was ruled by local rulers who answered to the emperor, who was still
considered the supreme political power of Japan (Bentley and Ziegler 300). The emperor, in turn,
was controlled by the powerful Fujiwara family. Heian Japan declined, however, as Japan was
divided into estates ruled by aristocrats. In the late 11th century, two of these aristocratic clans, the

Analysing the Gospel of Mark Essay examples
In this paper, I am writing about the Gospel of Mark. The Gospel of Mark is the shortest Gospel,
but is a really cool one. It covers a lot of key events that happened during Jesus lifetime. After
reading the chapters, we pointed out things that stood out to us, which we thought were strange or
interesting. We also pointed out spiritual lessons that taught us about our faith. We also wrote down
questions that we had about the material. After reading Mark, chapters one through five, several
things stood out to me. First, when Jesusheals the paralytic that is lowered from the roof in Mk.
2:11, the healed man doesn t even thank Jesus! He just walked out of the building and back to his
house. This stood out to me because most of the time,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One question that I had after reading this section was: how did John the Baptist know that God
would be so much mightier than him? How did he recognize Jesus? After reading Mk. 6 11, several
things stood out to me. First, in Mk. 6: 50, when Jesus walks on water, the disciples are incredibly
frightened. They think he is an evil specter. This stood out to me because the disciples trusted Jesus
with their lives, but when he does something like that, which is beyond their understanding, they
freak out. You would think that with the things that the disciples had seen Jesus do, that this
wouldn t really surprise them. Second, in Mk. 7:1 9 Jesus thought that the Commandments were
more important than tradition, but the Pharisees didn t. This stood out to me because the Pharisees
were supposed to be religious leaders, but in some cases, seemed to disregard the Commandments
in difference to their traditions. This mainly seemed to come into play with divorce and its rules.
Third, in Mk. 10:2 8 Jesus taught that a husband and wife became one flesh. This stood out to me
because I know that a husband and wife are supposed to be close, but Jesus teaches that they
should become one. This has to be awfully hard to achieve because I know that sometimes a
husband and wife have disagreements. The lesson that I learned in these chapters is that Jesus said,
Whatever goes into a man from outside can t defile him, what comes out of the man defiles him.

The Effects Of Pollution On A Natural Environment
Introduction
Pollution is a very wide use term that means the introduction of contaminants that cause a negative
change into a natural environment. It englobes all sort of contaminations such as air contaminants,
water contaminants, solid contaminants on soil and a lot more. As we can see in the World Wild
Life website, pollution is a very important issue he have and that we have to fix as soon as
possible. There are even natural substances considered as pollutants once they exceed natural levels
in a certain area.
As we know, salt water can be found in most water reservoirs, and it provides a lot of ecosystems

In order to set up the experiment, twelve test tubes total were used; four of them were the control
tubes, which had no algae solution contents. The reason for not adding algae is that the control
tubes solutions are meant to be the starting point for comparison that has to stay the same
throughout the length of the experiment. They are used to set up the blanks on the
spectrophotometer (instrument used to measure the amount of light at a specific wavelength) for
each of the remaining eight tube solutions. Each time a tube is read by the spectrophotometer, the
instrument needs to be set blank in order to read the change between the control tubes (no growth)
and the tubes with algae (unknown potential used growth). We have four different groups with
different pollutant amounts and fertilizer in order to measure the change respect to the percentage.
The control tubes were set up differently according to the table below. Negative Control tube

The Effects of Different Disinfectants on Bacteria Essay
I chose to do the effects of different disinfectants on bacteria because I have always wondered if
disinfectants such as Clorox, Lysol, and hand sanitizer actually kill 99.9 percent of germs. Also, I
know that there are harsh chemicals that can be damaging to us over time. Do these harsh
chemicals get the job done? Maybe taking a green, organic way could be the solution in the future.
My main question is which is the better disinfectant, Clorox Disinfecting Wipes or Lysol
Disinfecting Wipes. I want to uncover the truth about each product and show the reality of both.
Are they really getting the job done?

Fascism Research Paper
Fascism in Europe was self assured of many beliefs present throughout the twenty century which
all established their own changes from each other. Fascism is the genuine dictatorship of
confrontation protagonists. During the inter war period a quantity of Marxist concepts of fascism
were technologically advanced which recognized the working class, or minor position, as the
main element in its temperament. More than a few years earlier Marx s own investigation of the
minor position had featured its unique viewpoint, but in the greatest progressive cultures the
condition of the minor circle influences him in the direction of both socialism and capitalism. He
is amazed by the development of control of the large league on the one side, yet he shares in the
grief of the societies on the other. During the crunch years of the inter war period ordinary events

Foreign Policy Problem For Nepal
After defeating the incumbent prime minister, KP Oli is in the process of forming a new

Let us start with the old challenges. Foreign policy of each country is driven by its national interest.
Both India and China prefer a seamlessly friendly government in Kathmandu, which is not possible
given their strategic contest and territorial conflict.
This creates an irreconcilable foreign policy problem for Nepal. This problem has been so as old
as the unified Nepal. King Prithivi Narayan Shah understood this conflict of interests between the

bought weapons from China, India imposed economic blockade on Nepal in 1989 90. Similarly,
when Bhutan moved closer to China and accepted 20 Chinese buses, India cut off its fuel subsidy
to Thimpu in 2013.
That brings me to the new challenges of Nepal: India s unannounced economic embargo;
implementation of the new constitution; and Nepal s accelerated economic development.
First, the embargo. a series of Indian political experiments in Nepal since 1950 suggest that New
Delhi is yet to find an optimal policy framework north of its border.
These experiments include the 1950 political change; efforts to integrate foreign and defence
policies in the 1950s; letters of 1959, 1963, and 1965; political change of 1990; Maoist insurgency

The On The Flip Side
On the flip side, Gunter argues that Iraq enjoys a glowing and vibrant underground economy that
is a direct side effect of its bureaucracy and corruption. Private businesses in Iraq must choose
between seeking to become a legal enterprise, which due to regulatory hostility is a difficult and
expensive process, or operating in the underground economy with all of the associated
inefficiencies. One characteristic common to both options is the necessity of paying bribes to a
long line of corrupt officials. One survey of corruption in Iraqshowed that one fifth of private
businesses reported paying 40% or more of their firm s total revenues in bribes. Excluding
agriculture, an estimated 6% of the labor force is employed by private legal enterprises while
20% is employed in the underground economy. Firms in the underground economy tend to be
small scale, engaged in services or light manufacturing. In many cases, underground entities are
engaged in illegal activities such as selling black market fuel or smuggling across Iraq s long
open borders. However, other underground firms are engaged in other wise legal activities that
are concealed to avoid the choice of meeting arduous regulations or paying bribes to inspectors to
ignore violations. As expected, workers in the underground economy lack legal protections and
there are stories of workers being denied pay or even physically abused. Generally firms in Iraq s
underground economy are very inefficient. This inefficiency arises

The Power And Wealth Of The Chaebol
As I have stated earlier, the Chaebols have gained significant advantage to become the top class
due to government control of the financial system in the 1960s. The power and wealth of the
chaebol could be best explained by the music video Gangnam Style , produced by Park Jaesang,
who is known as Psy in the video. As of June 2014, on the CNN Entertainment website stated that
Gangnam Style has charted a new record: 2 billion YouTube views (Conlon, 2014) and has
become the most watched video in YouTube history. The video is enjoyed enormously by the
American public, which is kind of puzzling, because many do not know the Korean language,
therefore, are unable to understand what the video is really talking about.
The video went viral and became a sensation because the main character Psy intentionally ridicules
himself by performing exaggerated and bizarre choreographies with beautiful women and
expensive garments in the video. Psy wanted to especially focus on the change of modern Korean
culture toward a culture catered to the narcissist and pretentious people in Korea, even the singer
expressed in a interview that Human society is so hollow, and even while filming I felt pathetic.
Each frame by frame was hollow (Fisher, 2012). The underline message of the video was about
class and wealth problem in present day Korean society. Gangnam is a district in Korea that is
known for its heavily concentrated wealth and high standard of living. Offspring of the Chaebol

resistance training in their everyday workouts while using creatine. However, the athletes are
unaware of the effects it has on their bodies and whether performance is enhanced or not.
Therefore, these athletes need to become educated of what they are putting into their bodies and
whether creatineis aiding them in gains or not. First, background information will be provided on
both creatine and resistance training. Next, there will be discussion on the benefits of resistance
training with sex differences and age differences. Then, studies will be provided to help with

gains in muscle strength while performing lower body exercises. The second study showed an
increase in 6.85 kg of muscle gains in lifts. The third study was an analysis of 22 different studies.
It indicated an 8% increase in muscle strength gains and a 14% increase in weightlifting
performance. The last study showed an increase in strength gains and performance in bench press.
Overall, these four studies showed that there is an increase in both strength gains and performance
with the use of creatine and resistance training. Endurance athletes will not see benefits from
creatine use. This is due to the energy system used for endurance, the Oxidative System. The
Oxidative System does not use phosphocreatine for production of energy. While the ATP PCr

The Pyrenees and the Sierra de Guara offer us the best conditions for the practice of canyoning in
Huesca.
Canyoning is done in narrow canyons cut into the bedrock stone, forming narrow gorges, in which
we gradually overcome the obstacles, and slopes and drops that we find along the way: whether
walking, jumping, swimming, abseiling or rappeling, sliding down, downclimbing, etc.
We jump to pools of crystalline water, slide by down slides that water and years have carved into
the rock. We will use ropes to descend with the abseiling (rappelling) technique.
To practice canyoning it is not necessary to have previous experience, and we have different
levels of difficulty for you to choose from, since we are in the best area for the practice of
canyoning.
In the practice of canyoning, we usually descend aquatic canyons, but it is possible to descend dry
canyons in case that the weather, rain or cold winter does not allow us to descent water canyons.
Therefore, this activity can be done all year in Huesca.

What Is The Economic Expansion Of The Us Economy
The United States economy is currently in a time of expansion. This period of expansion has been
in progress since the years following the Great Recession of the late 2000s. This expansion is
evidenced by several factors including the real gross domestic product rising and continuing to rise
toward the natural level of output. As the United Statesapproaches a decade since the last recession,
there are a number of signs that suggest this economic growth is not sustainable. The United States
government is incurring large deficits each year, leading to a continually increasing debt level.

This is a useful measure because it is not just focused on raw numbers that can shift based on a
variety of economic factors. It is based on how the consumers that make up an economy feel.
A statistical measure that supports the period of economic growth from the consumer perspective
is the level of Real Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE). PCE measures the spending from
households in the economy. Unlike a measurement like CPI, PCE does not base its measurements
off of a pre fixed basket (Investopedia PCE, 2016). This allows it to take into account varying
purchases and expenses for households. PCE is also based on a formula that allows for changes in
consumer behavior which can make it more accurate in the short term (Investopedia PCE, 2016).
This makes it a better forecasting statistic. Real PCE has been consistently rising since the recession
of 2008. This means consumers are making enough money to increase their purchases and further
stimulate the economy.

How Did The Silk Road Influence Ancient China

The Silk Road, an ancient trade route, contributed profoundly to the cultural exchange between
Western Asia, Europe, and China. As people traversed with each other, they conveyed their beliefs,

from the second century BC to the fifteenth century AD. Buddhism, Islam, and Nestorianism were
cultural treasures that were bestowed upon Ancient China via the Silk Road. The exchange of

significant role in imperial desires to expand and maintain territory. Chinese rulers obtained
superior breeds of horses from Central Asia. Zhang Qian, a traveler of the Han Dynasty, observed
horses in the Fergana Valley that were much larger than those in China. Central Asia also
exported camels, which were very valued in Ancient China. The Noria, also known as the

second century AD via the Silk Road. It allowed a substantial amount of water to be lifted to

Differences in Marketing for B2C and B2B Sites
Introduction
Marketing in an electronic business/commerce (e business/e commerce) arena today is truly no
different than the ole В‘brick and mortar business. Business to business (B2B) and business to
consumer (B2C) sites need to have a crafty approach to implement marketing strategies and develop
an effective marketing plan to reach the intended (targeted) market. Thus, the mixing or blending
of the four Ps (product, place, price, and promotion) in such a way to attain both the business and
target market s goals and objectives is the key to success. The correct marketing mix, or blend, will
help both a B2B or B2C site ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the relationships that are developed between a B2C business and a consumer are
normally shorter in duration than the relationship between a B2B business and their customer (http:
//www.vista consulting.com/marketing articles/b2b b2c marketing.htm, 2006).
Business to Business (B2B)
Like B2C sites, B2B sites must also have a good understanding on the target market they are
attempting to reach, but B2B marketing is more focused on relationship building than transaction
building like B2C sites. Additionally, the business buyer is sophisticated, understands your product
or service better than you do, and wants or needs to buy products or services to help their company
stay profitable, competitive, and successful (http://www.vista consulting.com/marketing articles
/b2b b2c marketing.htm, 2006). Furthermore, the visitor to the B2B site might not be the actual
buyer, but a member of the decision making team. Thus, B2B sites must fulfill the needs of the
В‘researcher who may be just wanting to locate detailed information about the product, long term
customer care, and the financial stability of the B2B (Grove, 2005). And, in most cases, B2B site s
target market is smaller and well defined versus the B2C target market. For B2B sites, they are
building their customer base on long term relationships, trust, and commitments not on the number

Being organized will help you so much throughout middle school. The main reason to be
organized is because it will make you feel less stressed. Let s say you just stuff homework in
your backpack when your backpack is already full of papers, then the next day you will have so
much stress rummaging through your backpack for a single paper. Being prepared is essential. I
have seen many people get written up or even a detention because they forgot a book. Time
management is key in middle school. If you get homework from every class and it is all due the
next day, don t do it all at 10:00 PM, this is single handedly the worst thing you can do in middle

this usually has to do with projects, not homework, Let s say Mrs. Delucia gives you a project to do

because you rushed the project that was meant to be done over a span of two weeks, and you

Unfortunately, subsequent events in Puerto Rico s history prove that this type of view toward
granting of citizenship proposed in FerrГ© s novel was one of disillusionment. Reading the
following paragraph will help to clarify:
For this reason, our brand new American citizenship was hailed as a godsend, and a first class
celebration was in order. We would now have a definite identification with the most powerful
country in the world, and the golden eagle would be stamped on the cover of our passport.
Henceforth, we would cherish it as our magic shield: we could travel anywhere, no matter how far
or exotic our destination; we had the inalienable right to political asylum at the local American
Embassy; and the American ambassador would be our civil servant. (FerrГ©, p. 16)
First, I mentioned in an earlier paper of Early United States Rule that it appeared to me that
citizenship was granted conditionally, especially to be used as leverage against the Philippines who
were another United States territory but were not going to be granted citizenship. Second, a Puerto
Rican historian, Arturo Morales CarriГіn, explained that American citizenship was not in any way
accompanied by full political rights or self determination. United States still elected the governor,
attorney general, commissioner of education, and justices of Puerto Rican Supreme Court and the
governor elected treasurer and the interior among other positions. With the

Hegemonic Masculinity In Ads
Hegemonic masculinity is at the heart of exploitation of women in advertisements. It represents a
complex socio political system that perpetuates dominant ideas from the male perspective and
marginalizes any opposing ones, especially the feminist perspective. (O Toole, 2016) The concept
of the malegaze is at the root of hegemonic masculinity and consumerism. For example, Sports
Illustrated uses a swimsuit issue to attract a largely male audience. These exploited images present
women in sexualized and demeaning poses since images in the media are constructed for the male
viewer s gaze and represent his expectations of women as well as male to femalerelationships. This

Crime And Punishment During The Elizabethan Era
Crime and Punishment Draft The topic of crime has been booming in modern day news. Stories
of corrupt policemen and sexual misconduct allegations have flooded social media and everyday
conversation, but crime has always been a large aspect of society. However, modern day laws
have been overall consistent for a long period of time. During the Elizabethan era, many new crimes
and punishments were created by a growing development and knowledge. Accordingly, the
evolution of law grew dramatically during the Elizabethan age.
Laws originated from localism and were often controlled by ecclesiastical courts until the
medieval age ended. Laws were influenced heavily by the idea of localism, which commonly
revolved around the need for local goods, local government, and a local justice system. Often crime
was defined by ecclesiastical courts; crimes involving morality or violations of the church s
conception of sin were handled locally. However, after the introduction of Roman law, the power to
define crime became a duty of the ruler (Brackett, John 1999). The state had complete authority to
define crimes, even crimes of morality. The accusatorial method had been the popular choice until
the introduction of the inquisitorial method which was based on Roman law. However, it was said
This form of prosecution gave little power to judges. (Crime and Punishment 2004).
Crimes and punishments were often made to be equal for both commoners and aristocrats. Crimes

What Is Etiquette Essay
1.INTRODUCTION/HISTORY
Since the beginning of recorded of history, manners have played an important role in behavior.
Today we shake hands atomically, but the custom started in the middle ages. When two men met,
they extended their right hands and shook hands to show that they did not intend to use their
swords. It was a display of courtesy and friendship.
What is the origin of the word etiquette? It comes from an old French word meaning ticket. Later it
came to mean a prescribed routine. Today, etiquette is defined as the forms, manner and
ceremonies established by convention as acceptable for required in business and society. It is a
code of behavior based on kindness consideration and unselfishness something that should never
change. Francis Bacon said, If a man can be gracious and courteous to strangers, it shows he is a
citizen of the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the motto of Winchester College at oxford, says: Manners make man.
The old; etiquettes books say things like, do not drink tea from a saucer, and, wipe your dirty
hands on bread in order not to soil the napkin. History shows that while specific customs may be
abandoned, having good manners will never go out of style.
2.Definitions
i.Using proper etiquettes does not mean that you are blocked up by someone or not modern. To me
having manners means you are a respectful person and considerate of others. Use of etiquettes can
convey respect of other cultures, traditions or religions.
Example:
Old people used to take handkerchief with them which is a good etiquettes but nowadays
generation of young people don t rely on that and take tissue papers with them which is also a good
etiquette. ii. Etiquettes are defined as formal manners and rules that are followed in society or

over 100 families of plants, and they have even been observed to collect pollen from the surfaces
of vehicals (Danforth; vanEngelsdorp and Meixner, 2010). Yet they require a certain abundance
and diversity of resources within a specific foraging range. Beekman and Ratnieks (2000) have
shown that honey bees forage within a range of 0.5 km to 10 km, with an average range of 2.3
km. To some extent, foraging distances are genetically determined (Oldroyd et al., 1993), but they
are also determined by the quality and abundance of resources near the hive (Steffan Dewenter and
Kuhn, 2003; Baum, 2003). It has been repeatedly shown that honey bees forage... Show more

A number of these studies exist specifically for bees, and I will provide a brief synthesis of a few
studies that highlight the application of GIS to bees in order to facilitate a deeper understanding
of the different factors that are involved in developing and analyzing a GIS model for honey bees.
In 2007, Foy developed a GIS model to map native bee habitat in Montgomery County, Virginia.
His objectives were to identify significant spatial variables of bee habitat, develop and validate a
GIS model at the landscape scale, and evaluate the functionality of using geographic methods in
determining the relationship between habitat structure and bee populations. He studied the
abundance and richness of digger bees, bumble bees, and sweat bees within specific land cover
classifications, including water, pavement, residential / industrial, forest, agricultural, pasture
/ grasses, forest boundary, field boundary, and road boundary. He also incorporated aspect and
soils as they help to dictate the abundance and quality of floral resources in the landscape. Areas
within the landscape were classified as high, medium, or low suitability. He found that different
landscape compositions significantly impact bee abundance and diversity, especially within a
range of 250 m. He also showed that larger areas of flowering plants are more beneficial to bees,
indicating that bees are most benefitted by a larger area of flowering plants contained within a
smaller total area. Furthermore, he stated that there is value in using GIS to model bee habitat and
population trends (Foy,

Primate Observation
Within this essay, we will study more in depth the behavioral as well as physical traits of two
primates at a zoo from their interaction with their peers to their place in the group. This observation
would enable us to further understand the possible existing correlation between humans and
primates. First, I studied a female chimpanzeewith her baby, and then, a dominant male gorilla, in
San Francisco Zoo at about noon, on May 23, 2015, for an hour each. Even though they share
some similarities such as having a large brain, living for a long time, and being bored in their
enclosure, they are still different; when gorillas are the largest, chimpanzees are the smartest. In
fact, chimps use tools to catch food, they would not be able to reach... Show more content on

Thus, I was able to observe some similarities among these species. The way the female chimp
used tools, and her fingers to grab food, how she used to be on her feet, freeing her hands, groom
her child, educate her offspring, sleep with him while snuggling, use a lot of face emotions to
convey a message to an individual; she smiled at her baby, laughed when playing, and tickling him,
remind me of human. She also has a flat pink face, hands palm, and feet sole as humans do.
Furthermore, the gorilla was also really human when he protected his eyes from the intense sunrays,
following the movement of the sun, and sat in the shade, mated with a female, scratched his head,
and bottom, and put his finger in his nose. I think that these humans pattern appeared for similar
reasons as in the Primates. For instance, when the gorilla scratches his bottom, it is because the area
is itchy, and he wants to remove what is indisposing him. In addition, the mother chimp educates
her kid to transmit knowledge throughout generation, which is the same for humans, who go to
school. According to my observation, even though Chimpanzee, and Gorilla are similar, they differ
in many other ways when we go deeper in physical, and behavioral traits. However, both species
also share the majority part of their DNA with Humans. Based on some reliable researches, some
scientists realized that humans did not come from apes but instead shared common ancestors. As a
matter of fact, humans and Primates are different, but share most of their genome, explaining why
we found some similar patterns of behavior among humans, and

Bell Jar Disconnection
It is said that people cannot truly know themselves, but must rely on reflections in mirrors,
photographs, and other people in their lives. Unable to see themselves as others see them, people
often get confused and end up detaching themselves from reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright,
young woman with an interest in poetry and writing. However, after the death of her father, she
developed neurosis and attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was
unsuccessful. She uses her depression and suicidal tendencies as a foundation for her novel,
published two weeks before her successful suicide. The Bell Jarhighlights the concept of
detachment through the main character, Esther, who feels a disconnection from herself. As she
struggles to recognize herself and find a path for her future, she slowly descends into madness.
Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar creates the motifs of mirrors and magazines to convey the idea that
individuals often have difficulty accepting themselves.
Quite often, magazines glamorize real life and make reality distant from fact. This is especially
true throughout The Bell Jar, starting as early as page 2 where the main character explains a ... Show

Especially through the disease neurosis, which Esther had, she never connected her mirror
image to her inner image, even when she seems to look normal: Then my ears went funny, and I
noticed a big, smudgy eyed Chinese woman staring idiotically into my face. It was only me, of
course, I was appalled to see how wrinkled and used up I looked (Plath 18). Esther doesn t
immediately recognize herself in an elevator reflection, which startles her and causes her to
believe she is not alone in the elevator. Later in the novel, after her signs of depression have began
to emerge, she starts to cry during a magazine photoshoot. Once she stops crying and attempts to

The British parliament passed four policies during 1765 to 1767, Stamp Act, Quartering Acts,
Townshend Duty Act and Declaratory Act. They were all approved after French and Indian War.
Because of the British troops won the battle with French in North American in 1763, as a matter of
course British took place lands that had belonged to France. In order to control these lands well,
British government passed these four laws. But these laws didn t achieve the desired results.
Quartering Act of 1765 that required American colonial to provide quarters and food for British

In the same year, another important policy Stamp Act was promulgated. Law passed by parliament
in 1765 to raise revenue in America by requiring taxed, stamped paper for legal documents,
publication, and playing cards (Goldfield, P124). Pleasant hours fly past; this law aroused public
discontent. Colonists fought against this policy. For example, a group of people planned to
intimidate Andrew Oliver to make him quit office in August 1765. (Goldfield, P125). And they also
required British government to repeal Stamp Act. Finally, in 1776, parliament ended the Stamp Act,
but it approved the Declaratory Act at the same day (Goldfield, p126). This was a statement saying
the colonies should serve Britain, and that Britain government could promulgate any law
(Goldfield, p126).Although, British repeal Stamp Act, they didn t stop demanding taxes. In 1767,
Parliament promulgated some new taxes policies called the Townshend Duty Act, which stipulated

In the late twentieth century, the Middle Eastern nation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) began
to make plans to distance itself from the petroleum industry that dominates most of the Persia.
Driven by the fact that internal experts believe the country s oil reserves will be depleted by the
year 2012, the UAE is attempting to transition to a service industry, with a major focus on tourism,
retail, and entertainment. In order to transform its economy, the UAE is first focusing of the

At this point, the island began to show shape, but rose only several feet above the surface of the
water. The final step was to dredge over 8,500,000 m3 (302,000,000 ft3) of ocean sand onto the
top of the base structure in order to create habitable islands. This sea sand increased the island s
height to 4 m (13 ft) above low tide (6). In order to quickly, yet precisely acquire and distribute
the sand, fleets of dredging vessels and massive transport/delivery ships were brought from a
European manufacturer. Dredging In dredging millions of cubic meters of sea bed, the project
used specialized cutter suction dredgers in order to apply the sand to the desired surface. A
cutter suction dredger, according to the European Dredging Association (EuDA), is a large rig
with a powerful underwater suction tube generally 10 100 cm in diameter extended angularly
from the centroid of the vessel with a large crane extending from the rear of the ship to stabilize
the tube (7). Due to the dense makeup of the Persian Gulf, the dredgers had a cutting head at the
base of the tube. This head chews through the rock bed with over 5,000kW cutting power. It was
equipped with a massive jet dredge system powered by a submerged pump attached to the tube to
help pull the destroyed bedrock into the ship (8 9). The jet dredge systems create an extreme
negative pressure in the pipe, which creates a basic Bernoulli venturie tube effect.

The Theory Of Substance Dependention
This essay consists of information concerning substance dependence. It outlines what substance
dependence is all about, which includes its symptoms, a theory to explain the phenomena and the
South African perspective of the disorder. Substance Dependence is a behavioral and
physiological phenomenon which happens after a person has been practicing substance use over a
long period of time and the individual does this repeatedly (Austin, Botha, Du Plessis, Du Plessis,
Jordaan, Lake, Moletsane, Nel, Pillay, Ure, Visser, Von Krosigk, Vorster, 2013). People who use
these substances have difficulty controlling the amounts they consume and tend to use the
substance excessively; the person has a continued desire to use the substance. They tend to crave
the substance therefore causing a difficulty in controlling the use of the substance. Substance
dependence disorders are more severe forms of Substance abuse disorders and involves a
physiological dependence on the substance (Coleman, Butcher Carson,1984,Pg. 397). Substance
dependence can occur at any age but happens to be most common in adolescence and young
adulthood, leaving teenagers more prone to being affected by it (Coleman, Butcher Carson, 1984,
Pg. 419).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Substances that affect this functioning include Alcohol, heroin, marijuana and barbiturates (White
Watt, 1973) .Some of these drugs are legal while others such as heroin remain illegal. The
intoxicating effect of substances like alcohol and tobacco is so powerful as to defy rational
control. Substance dependence has a long history and in recent years has raised more of a social
problem because there is an increase in the convenient availability of such substances (White Watt,

Differences In Blue Penguin By Dr. Seuss And Blue Penguins
Discrimination has been present in society since ancient times. Discrimination is the theme of the
books, The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss and Blue Penguin by Petr HorГЎДЌek.
These two books with a difference of more than fifty years show us, as some of its characters, Blue
Penguin from the book Blue penguin, and a group of plain belly Sneetches from the book The
Sneetches and Other Stories are similarly discriminated, but they face the situation differently. Blue
penguin accepts himself and the plain belly Sneetches, unlike the blue penguin, try to be like the
star belly Sneetches.
The story of the Sneetches and the story of the Blue penguin are both charming. One was written in
1961 and the other in 2015. Both stories with their wonderful characters teach us about the
influence of discrimination. The sneetches made a mistake trying to change their appearances to fit
in the society in which they lived but in the end, both stories showed that it is never too late to
change and begin to accept others and more important to accept ourselves. On the other hand, there
is the story of the blue penguin who was a strong penguin but he was constantly discriminated by
the other penguins to the point of wanting to leave the South Pole. Blue Penguin never wanted to
change its appearance or its way of being, unlike the sneetches he always accepted himself. as a
result, the other penguins had to accept him the way he was.

Autism Spectrum Assessment
Proper and applicable assessment measures are the foundation to evidence based assessments. For
psychologists, it is critical to choose the best assessment tools that can provide the most reliable and
valid measures to give accurate suggestions about the most relevant intervention procedures.
Application of psychometrically valid tools and significant data assembly is decisive for optimal
intervention at the early stages of the diagnosis of the AutismSpectrum Disorder. Over the past
twenty years, researchers on Autism have made notable findings in comprehending prevalence rates
and creating accurate assessments to gather current diagnostic criterion. A significant increase in
the prevalence rate of ASD has led researchers to make further inquiries about the precision of the
tests used to assist in the diagnosis of autism.
The Childhood Autism Rating Scale, Second Edition (CARS 2) is a 15 item rating scale used to
identify children with autism and differentiating them from those with other developmental
disabilities such as avoidant personality disorder. It is evidence based substantiated and supplies

The Effect Of Ink Color ( Cool, Warm And Black ) On The...
What is the effect of ink color (cool, warm and black) on the memory of students? Humans,
especially students, are always look for new ways to improve their memory. Memorization is an
important strategy used by students in schools all around the world. When people with Alzheimer s
start to lose their memorythey often go to extreme measures to preserve it. If there is a way that
something as simple as colorcan make important information more retainable then we should use
it to our advantage. If the effect of taking notes in pencil, warm colored ink, and cool colored ink
is tested then, it is predicted that warm color will increase memory and number of correct answers
from the worksheet in the most students. To test the hypothesis 5 students will complete a
worksheet that they will complete using their assigned ink color. Following that they will
complete a test based off of the worksheet and when they finish the results will be evaluated and
compare it to the previous data. To determine raw data the total the number of questions answered
correctly from each color group will be divided using the formula x/y, y being the number of total
number of questions and x being the number answered correctly. The data collected during
experimentation supported the hypothesis. The average number of questions answered correctly
when the effect of color on memory was tested for the following groups was pencil with one, black
with one, cool with one and warm with one.

The Second Epoch ( 1980 )
The Second Epoch (1980 2000s) In the second epoch, the emphasis shifted from regulations to
coordinating the objectives of the environment with other social and economic priorities, with more
attention to human health effects, and to carrying out the environmental policies that were on
books, more resourcefully. In a couple of instances, new goals were formed which went beyond the
former goals, for example, including dangerous materials and hazardous waste to the environmental
policy agenda, the additionally demanding provisions of the Clean Air Act of 1990, and the more
prominent acknowledgment of the international and worldwide implications of pollution. However,
the pace of enactment and the coverage of sources of pollution which were newly identified slowed
considerably in comparison with the first epoch. What changed most particularly was confidence in
the philosophy of regulation and firm control by the government.4 It turned out to be clear that
legislation alone, could neither direct nor police all organizations and groups all over the country,
nor could it bear all the obligation regarding empowering creative reactions to environmental issues.
This was not just a response to the growing involvement of the government. Underlying the second
epoch was the acknowledgment that considerable advancement had been accomplished in lessening
harmful environmental discharges and upgrading protection of resources, in policy if not generally
in deed. After over 10 years of

Latino Music Essay
I have grown up listening to Hip Hop just as I did listening to my mother s blaring Bachata and
Merengue every Sunday morning and from what I can recall, the artists I primarily listened to
were black, or Eminem. The only Spanish rappers I did listen to were Reggaeton artists, meaning
I did not listen to many predominately English speaking Latino rappers. This revelation of my
early musical tastes begs the question as to why I was not exposed to more Latino rappers during
the late nineties and early millennium. In learning about how Latino s have participated within the

African American acceptance of Latino culture stems largely from similar experiences of
prejudice and shared African roots. In addition, black hip hop has included various Latino
elements, illustrating growing acceptance and integrations between both parties. Various
elements present in black hip hop include Spanglish lyrics, rumba rhythms (Morales 300 301),
and the celebration and desire for a Latina woman, who shares similar physique to African
American women (Rivera 131 132). In examining Latino Hip Hop history, an overall theme of
inclusion and exclusion emerges, where Latinos are included if they provide something desirable
and marketable and excluded due to their ethnicity. Because of this, the need to affirm Latin
identity becomes a necessity in order to solidify the Latino presence within the genre. Latino rap
takes on the Latin American experience and builds upon to tell poetic stories of pride, unity, and
discrimination throughout Latino history. This theme of being proud of one s roots plays a
central role in how Spanish speaking rappers may or may not conduct themselves. For many, the
following lyrics illustrate pride in the face of discrimination: Now what you call me? ( Spic) Yeah,

  • 3. The Ideal of a Man The Ideal of a Woman of the Heian... The ideal of a man and the ideal of a woman of the Heian court differs significantly from what people of our modern society might consider ideal, but that is to be expected as our modern society has had much time to be exposed to and affected by the influences of many different cultures viewpoints. In comparison, the Heian court was a more closed society, so back then, the notions of what was acceptable and unacceptable and the standards to which men and women were measured were more defined. Genji monogatari suggests the standards to which the sexes should be measured and gives examples of people who meet the standards. He obeyed, among others, the convention of sending poems to women after staying the night with them. Genji was a prodigy when it came to the playing the kin, and he could even play the sЕЌ no koto. Judging by the way that he was portrayed, I would not be surprised if there was not an instrument that he could not play. When Genji and TЕЌ no ChЕ«jЕЌ performed Blue Sea Waves, although TЕЌ no ChЕ«jЕЌ was very skillful in his dancing as if he had rehearsed many times, Genji was still the person who drew all of the attention from their audience. Genji s dance was so elegant, and his voice was so beautiful that it was likened to the kalavinka, the bird that sings in paradise. Genji s prowess with painting was also out of this world. The picture contest in chapter 17 ended immediately after his paintings were revealed, even though the previous contenders were expert painters brought in specifically for the competition. His paintings were renderings of Suma and Akashi the places where he had spent his time in exile. Seeing paintings that captured the essence of the faraway place that Genji had gone to brought tears to everyone s eyes as they were filled once again with feelings surrounding the despair brought on by Genji s absence. The manner in which Genji treated his many lovers was another quality that made him such a great man. He took pity on women for their shortcomings and trespasses against him rather than hating and blaming them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification Bismarck Claims The Credit For German Unification In the early 19th Century, the growth of nationalism and the growing economic strength of the German states was very great. The German s shared a common identity in the form of language race and heritage such as music, literature and poetry. The growing improvements in communications and transport also brought the states one step closer together. The reduction of the number of German states from 365 to 39 states made each state more economically and militarily stronger. In the 1840 s military manoeuvres and political decisions made by the French which seemed threatening to the Germans provoked strong reactions from many of the Germans leading to a growth in nationalism and the creation of nationalistic songs, sung by the German troops such as, The watch on the Rhine . The revolutions, which took place in France, Italy and the Austrian Empire along with the fall of prince Metternicht, encouraged the German nationalists who longed for a unified Germany. The middle classes also pressed for political reform. Changes in nursing roles represent a shift in the view of nursing from simply an occupation or job to a profession with a commitment to the role (Blais amp; Hayes, 2011). Changes in the healthcare system affect society s expectation of nursing care. Due to these high expectations, nurses are returning to school in order to satisfy these prospects and are more effective in their roles. The Republican loyalists Protestants valuing traditions, tend to identify themselves with this party for a lasting time for many generations. Family traditions, the set life style and family business continuation are cultural characteristics of Republicans. Democrats, on the contrary favor changes in all fields of life. They are more open to change job positions and move to another place, providing more freedom of choice to their children. Today, Republicans have more support from American citizens. There are factors which do not influence party identity and which are independent on social grouping or cultural values. For several decades there have been little change at both aggregate and individual level on party identification. The state of economy and performance of the president does not change or determine party loyalty. However, party loyalties have a powerful influence on citizens positions in key issues and voting decisions. The most important notion is that party identification is based mainly on identification with social grouping rather than on evaluation of party s ideology or policy. I noticed that Abraham only talks about John Brown at the end of a very long speech very briefly, he does not show any respect to John Brown he only rubs it in that he died at his own phone. This makes me think Abraham Lincoln has no sympathy towards John Brown, especially because it is the day after his execution and he is basically insulting John Brown. Old John Brown has just been executed for treason against a state. We cannot object, even though he agreed with us in thinking slavery was wrong. That cannot excuse violence, bloodshed, and treason. I noticed that Abraham repeats the word treason . Treason is a crime of betraying one s country especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government. I think he uses the word to really justify that what John Brown did was inexcusable and that he committed a horrible crime and has betrayed the country. Detroit An American Autopsy Analysis In the novel, Detroit: An American Autopsy, Charlie LeDuff, a former reporter for The Detroit News and The New York Times, provides a personal account of his experience of returning to his hometown of Detroit after journalistic work in New York and Los Angeles. Detroit has long been a prime example of urban decay: it is a citythat presents images of mass unemployment, political corruption, looming bankruptcy, abandoned buildings, and senseless slaughter. It has gone through major economic, political, and demographic decline in the recent decades, with even the city s notorious and once thriving automobile industry struggling with increasing global competition. He also recounts for his connections with businessmen, homeless individuals, and struggling homeowners to portray the slivers of hope and determination holding the falling city together. Regardless of the problems of race, economics, politics, and overall desperation of the city, LeDuff presents Detroit to be facing issues that transcend so. The government has destroyed individuals and possibly any positive light the city may see, as well as humanity has been marooned as people have not only lost jobs but also their relationships between others around them. The Tang dynasty was in the midst of internal rebellion and nomadic invasions (Martin 117). This eventually led to the abdication of the last emperor, causing the Tang to fall (Bentley and Ziegler 286). One major change during the Tang era was the rule of Wu Zhao, a female leader. This was surprising, considering the Confucian belief that women should not lead, but instead be lead by men. The Yuan dynasty eventually fell because of rebellions and assassinations, along with the flawed accounts of the wealth that backed up the flying money. Under Ming rule, Mongol influences were swapped for Chinese culture as Emperor Hongwu reinstated the traditional Confucian curriculum in education and the civil service exams. In Japan, as the Heian period (794 1192) declined, the power was transferred from the emperor to the shogun. It covers a lot of key events that happened during Jesus lifetime. After reading the chapters, we pointed out things that stood out to us, which we thought were strange or interesting. We also pointed out spiritual lessons that taught us about our faith. We also wrote down questions that we had about the material. After reading Mark, chapters one through five, several things stood out to me. First, when Jesusheals the paralytic that is lowered from the roof in Mk. 2:11, the healed man doesn t even thank Jesus! One question that I had after reading this section was: how did John the Baptist know that God would be so much mightier than him? How did he recognize Jesus? After reading Mk. 6 11, several things stood out to me. First, in Mk. 6: 50, when Jesus walks on water, the disciples are incredibly frightened. They think he is an evil specter. This stood out to me because the disciples trusted Jesus with their lives, but when he does something like that, which is beyond their understanding, they freak out. You would think that with the things that the disciples had seen Jesus do, that this wouldn t really surprise them. Second, in Mk. 7:1 9 Jesus thought that the Commandments were more important than tradition, but the Pharisees didn t. This stood out to me because the Pharisees were supposed to be religious leaders, but in some cases, seemed to disregard the Commandments in difference to their traditions. This mainly seemed to come into play with divorce and its rules. Third, in Mk. 10:2 8 Jesus taught that a husband and wife became one flesh. This stood out to me because I know that a husband and wife are supposed to be close, but Jesus teaches that they should become one. This has to be awfully hard to achieve because I know that sometimes a husband and wife have disagreements. The lesson that I learned in these chapters is that Jesus said, Whatever goes into a man from outside can t defile him, what comes out of the man defiles him. This shows ... Private businesses in Iraq must choose between seeking to become a legal enterprise, which due to regulatory hostility is a difficult and expensive process, or operating in the underground economy with all of the associated inefficiencies. One characteristic common to both options is the necessity of paying bribes to a long line of corrupt officials. One survey of corruption in Iraqshowed that one fifth of private businesses reported paying 40% or more of their firm s total revenues in bribes. Excluding agriculture, an estimated 6% of the labor force is employed by private legal enterprises while 20% is employed in the underground economy. Firms in the underground economy tend to be small scale, engaged in services or light manufacturing. In many cases, underground entities are engaged in illegal activities such as selling black market fuel or smuggling across Iraq s long open borders. However, other underground firms are engaged in other wise legal activities that are concealed to avoid the choice of meeting arduous regulations or paying bribes to inspectors to ignore violations. A statistical measure that supports the period of economic growth from the consumer perspective is the level of Real Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE). PCE measures the spending from households in the economy. Unlike a measurement like CPI, PCE does not base its measurements off of a pre fixed basket (Investopedia PCE, 2016). This allows it to take into account varying purchases and expenses for households. PCE is also based on a formula that allows for changes in consumer behavior which can make it more accurate in the short term (Investopedia PCE, 2016). This makes it a better forecasting statistic. Real PCE has been consistently rising since the recession of 2008. This means consumers are making enough money to increase their purchases and further stimulate the economy. Marketing Differences Between B2C and B2B Websites Differences in Marketing for B2C and B2B Sites March 27, 2006 Differences in Marketing for B2C and B2B Sites Introduction Marketing in an electronic business/commerce (e business/e commerce) arena today is truly no different than the ole В‘brick and mortar business. Business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) sites need to have a crafty approach to implement marketing strategies and develop an effective marketing plan to reach the intended (targeted) market. Thus, the mixing or blending of the four Ps (product, place, price, and promotion) in such a way to attain both the business and target market s goals and objectives is the key to success. Business to Business (B2B) Like B2C sites, B2B sites must also have a good understanding on the target market they are attempting to reach, but B2B marketing is more focused on relationship building than transaction building like B2C sites. Stories of corrupt policemen and sexual misconduct allegations have flooded social media and everyday conversation, but crime has always been a large aspect of society. However, modern day laws have been overall consistent for a long period of time. During the Elizabethan era, many new crimes and punishments were created by a growing development and knowledge. Accordingly, the evolution of law grew dramatically during the Elizabethan age. Laws originated from localism and were often controlled by ecclesiastical courts until the medieval age ended. Laws were influenced heavily by the idea of localism, which commonly revolved around the need for local goods, local government, and a local justice system. Often crime was defined by ecclesiastical courts; crimes involving morality or violations of the church s conception of sin were handled locally. However, after the introduction of Roman law, the power to define crime became a duty of the ruler (Brackett, John 1999). The state had complete authority to define crimes, even crimes of morality. The accusatorial method had been the popular choice until the introduction of the inquisitorial method which was based on Roman law. Today we shake hands atomically, but the custom started in the middle ages. When two men met, they extended their right hands and shook hands to show that they did not intend to use their swords. Beekman and Ratnieks (2000) have shown that honey bees forage within a range of 0.5 km to 10 km, with an average range of 2.3 km. To some extent, foraging distances are genetically determined (Oldroyd et al., 1993), but they are also determined by the quality and abundance of resources near the hive (Steffan Dewenter and Kuhn, 2003; Baum, 2003). A number of these studies exist specifically for bees, and I will provide a brief synthesis of a few studies that highlight the application of GIS to bees in order to facilitate a deeper understanding of the different factors that are involved in developing and analyzing a GIS model for honey bees. In 2007, Foy developed a GIS model to map native bee habitat in Montgomery County, Virginia. His objectives were to identify significant spatial variables of bee habitat, develop and validate a GIS model at the landscape scale, and evaluate the functionality of using geographic methods in determining the relationship between habitat structure and bee populations. He studied the abundance and richness of digger bees, bumble bees, and sweat bees within specific land cover classifications, including water, pavement, residential / industrial, forest, agricultural, pasture / grasses, forest boundary, field boundary, and road boundary. He also incorporated aspect and soils as they help to dictate the abundance and quality of floral resources in the landscape. Areas within the landscape were classified as high, medium, or low suitability. He found that different landscape compositions significantly impact bee abundance and diversity, especially within a range of 250 m. He also showed that larger areas of flowering plants are more beneficial to bees, indicating that bees are most benefitted by a larger area of flowering plants contained within a smaller total area. She also has a flat pink face, hands palm, and feet sole as humans do. Furthermore, the gorilla was also really human when he protected his eyes from the intense sunrays, following the movement of the sun, and sat in the shade, mated with a female, scratched his head, and bottom, and put his finger in his nose. I think that these humans pattern appeared for similar reasons as in the Primates. For instance, when the gorilla scratches his bottom, it is because the area is itchy, and he wants to remove what is indisposing him. In addition, the mother chimp educates her kid to transmit knowledge throughout generation, which is the same for humans, who go to school. According to my observation, even though Chimpanzee, and Gorilla are similar, they differ in many other ways when we go deeper in physical, and behavioral traits. Unable to see themselves as others see them, people often get confused and end up detaching themselves from reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright, young woman with an interest in poetry and writing. However, after the death of her father, she developed neurosis and attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was unsuccessful. As she struggles to recognize herself and find a path for her future, she slowly descends into madness.
