Completely Changing Life in Jake Reinvented by Gordon Korman
Have you ever thought about changing your life completely? I am going to talk about a book that
show a kid that try to change his life and try to hide his past for his new friends
The name of this book is Jake Reinvented. One of the main themes in Jake Reinvented is some people
will do anything to keep there past behind them even if that means to change yourself into something
you thought you would never be. These paper is going to how this is the theme of Jake Reinvented
and show that this is one of the main themes in Jake Reinvented. I well cover three different scene in
the book from them beginning to the end of the book.
The first scene that supports my theme is the scene when Jake tells Rick to bring Jenifer to the next
party and Didi come with and she see Jake and realizes that he was here old mat tutor from McKinley.
This is the first major scene that comes up in the book that shows part of Jakes old self and what he
was before he started going to Rick s school. These two quotation show that Jake was kind of a nerd
Back at his old school. The first quote comes for page 42 when Didi says, Jake used to go to
McKinley! He was my math tutor. If it were not for him I would still be in the tenth grade. That Jake
did have a different school and did know some thing about math. The next quote also comes for Didi
and this quote show that Jake was some kind of nerd because he did study and help Didi a lot. The
quote comes for page 43 Remember the time that I had a test

Extraversion, Agreeableness, And Neuroticism
According to the five personality traits listed in the textbook, Openness, Conscientiousness,
Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. Jeff Tanner and Mary Anne Raymond describe self
concept as how you see yourself either in a positive or negative way. Your ideal self is how you would
like to see yourself. The products and services that would be successfully marketed to individuals are
as follow: Openness describes the degree to which a person is curious, original, intellectual, creative,
and open to new ideas in the market. According to Barrick, M. R., Mount, M. K. (1991), People in the
Openness degree are in the level of learning new skills, and they are also fabulous in doing well at
training. They are attached with validity of personality, cognitive ability, and dimensions measured by
an assessment center and a behavior description interview. A researcher, Wanberg, C. R., Kammeyer
Mueller, J. D. (2000), says it involve the open mindedness that leads them to search for huge
information and feedback about how they are doing and to develop chemistry, which leads to quicker
adjustment to the new job. At the other end of the spectrum, people in low openness may also likely
suffer and become more easily bored or impatient with routine. Conscientiousness describes a ... Show

someone people go to for advice and friendship. Klein, K. J., Beng Chong, L., Saltz, J. L., Mayer, D.

Comparing Oroonoko And The Vampyre
The philosophical question of whether humans are inherently evil or inherently good is a constant
reminder of the inevitable influence that outside forces can have on a person. Are people susceptible to
evilness or do we simply learn evilness from our corrupt and undesirable surroundings? This question
is addressed in both Oroonoko by Aphra Behn and The Vampyre: A Tale by John William Polidori,
where the theme of Betrayal is the inevitable soul of each story. The main focal point of Oroonoko
follows the lies, deceit, and betrayal that the honorable Prince Oroonoko faces. The narrator describes
him as someone whose honour was such as he never had violated a word in his life himself, much less
a solemn asseveration, (Behn, 123). Aphra Behn focuses on the theme of betrayal on account of the

Oroonoko was facing the same discrepancies as English political figures by not receiving the
honorable recognition he was born to receive, and having stronger outside forces, like the captain and
his crew, come into his life and dictate his path. Behn uses Oroonoko s character and the theme of
Betrayal in order to reconcile both primitive and European culture to show the similarities of these
different cultures. Oroonoko is deceived and tricked by the sea captain to board his ship, only to
realize too late that it was a scheme of enslavement. Here on, the honorable Prince and his crew is
shackled and ripped from their homeland and transported to Suriname, a continent light years away.
Come, my fellow slaves, let us descent and see if we can meet with more honor and honesty

The Impact Of The Colorado Gold Rush
If you had the opportunity to get rich off of gold, would you? Would you be willing to leave
everything you have behind to move thousands of miles across the country just for gold? In 1859, the
answer for many people was yes. Word of gold found throughout Colorado spread across the country
and launched the Pike s Peak Gold Rush or also known as the Colorado Gold Rush. There are several
significant events in Colorado history that have had an influential impact on the state we know today.
The Colorado Gold Rush, in 1859, was the most significant event in Colorado History for several
reasons: the rush attracted thousands of people to our state, initiated the mining of other resources,
succored farming and ranching throughout the state, and boosted the economy of the towns here in
Colorado; these benefits of the rush continue to play a role in our state still today. Because of the
Colorado Gold Rush, people swarmed into the state with the optimism of becoming rich. Even though
many of these people were go backers, the people that did stay assisted in the development of mining
towns all throughout the state. A Pike s Peak journalist described the flocking of people claiming
thousands from the farther East swarmed into the Missouri valley towns, and enough hardy souls
crossed the Plains in the fall of 1858 to give the newly founded towns of Auraria and Denver at the
mouth of Cherry creek on the South Platte about 125 cabins, huts, and tents by Christmas. The gold

Phoenix Community Development
Urban areas are usually grown upwards, but things did not seem to go that way for the city of Phoenix.
Phoenix has done nothing but expand thanks to the much endless desert space they are surrounded by.
Many suburban areas where created around Phoenix due to large amount of family homes built. Along
with all of the development and amount of time, Phoenix is actually now surrounded by 24 smaller
cities. A large amount of ecosystems where destroyed in order to build a lot of single family homes
and a lot of streets. A big reason for the Phoenix region growing outwards rather than upwards is
mostly due to land being priced very cheap and allowing larger margins of profits because homes are
not build until they have all been completely purchased by the customers. A great example of how the
city of Phoenix is expanding right now is the community named Anthem. It is a community in which
people don t really ever need to go out of their community because it has everything in it. In such
community there is nothing but single family homes with many wide streets. It is sort of a resort style
living, for it has many things in the community such as a golf course, many pools and parks, and many
fun things to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due expansion, people tend to live much farther from places so this has created a heavy use of cars for
the citizens of Phoenix. This great use of vehicles and building of homes creates a lot of pollution for
the environment and kills off many natural systems. Also geographically Phoenix lives far away from
resources which then means they need to be delivered miles to Phoenix. Another main concern that
has gotten Phoenix attention is water. Phoenix main water source is the Colorado river. Water is a
limited resource but Phoenix seems to be growing at an uncontrollable rate while water is not so
sooner or later if they continue growing at this rate they will need to find an alternative for

Literature And Old English Literature
Throughout history, English Literature has evolved in many ways. It has changed from Old English to
Middle English. One big change is how we shared and communicated stories. Quite a few other things
that changed are the attitudes of fighters, and who heroes fought against. The treatment of women
differed from seeing women as possessions to seeing them as people. The role of religion changed to
have less of an influence. Plagues led to the end of the feudal system, and king s absolute power was
taken away. The mass production of books came after the end of the plague. People started keeping
records of time. Climate change created many issues with crops. All of these changes caused
extraordinary effects on the transition from Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These aspects changed during the Middle English era. Fighters went from almost barbaric attitudes to
being chivalrous. Fighters also no longer fought for personal fame, and instead fought for god, the
king, honor, and women. With this attitude we saw many more knights in the society. Similarly who
heroes fought was also greatly changed from Old English to Middle English. In Old English heroes
would go into battles against monsters twice their size. Heroes also fought against gods and other
supernatural forces. They were seen as everyday people who could take down and defeat these forces
no man should be able to. The hero s tales soon changed from these outrageous stories of fighting
monsters to Arthurian legends. In the Arthurian legends, heroes were the kings and knights who fought
to protect their kingdom. Earthy stories were told of the middle class to make them seem dirty and
undesirable. Equally important is how in Old English women were seen as objects to fulfill men s
desires. Women were a Source of unpaid labor, and offerings. The consideration of women as equals
was not common. When making treaties men of power would use attractive women as a pawn to
ensure the favored outcome. Duchess Eleanor of Aquitaine was one of the first to bring the unjust
treatment of women to light. She provided a strong figure for women to aspire to be. Eleanor s
daughter, Marie of France, continued in

Gender Discrimination In Society
Gender discrimination. Everyday, everywhere. We ve all gone through it. But the real question is.....
Which gender is discriminated against more? I for one believe that females face more gender
discrimination than males do. Gender inequality is defined as perceptions of individuals due to their
gender and judgements or expectations based on what society deems appropriate for their gender. I
will admit. Males are also discriminated against. But not as strongly as females. In our society, we
constantly hear phrases that corrupt our expectations of women. Phrases that manipulate us to believe
that there is only one gender and one gender only that is strongly discriminated against. Today, in our
generation, in our community, in our society, that may as well be true.
Men aren t considered equal to women, and women are DEFINITELY not considered equal to men. In
the past, if a woman pursued a career in engineering, not only would she be judged by society, but also
by her family that she is not fit for the occupation of an engineer, because she was not a man. If a man
pursued nursing as a career, he would be considered an unsuccessful doctor. This was because society
classified it as a woman s job. Luckily for us, the 21st Century has evolved from such expectations.
On occasion, men are given equal opportunities to women. Emma Watson is a role model in the eyes
of many people, including my own. At the UN campaign HeforShe she spoke about gender equality.
She recited her own

Elizabeth Bennet In Pride And Prejudice
Despite the radical behaviour of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen would not be
consider a feminist by today s standards. Viewing what meant to be a feminist in Austen s time, how
the main character of the novel illustrated that feminism, what feminism is today we can see how
Austen would not be consider a feminist.
Main Point: How the ____ of the moment implied in Austen s women s equality point of view
To understand what was declared major steps towards women equality at that time, we first need to
look at the inequalities that caused gender discrimination. In the 18th century the social role of women
was confined to housekeeping. Early in the 1800 s women were not allowed to continue school after
grammar school. Women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Austen proved this by having her rejecting Collin s proposal which prevented her from having the
state where her family lived her whole live, and by rejecting Darcy s first proposal that also would
have accommodate and ameliorated her family situation. She then accepted Darcy s proposal only at
the end when she found out she loved him and he respected her. Even though this are progressive
views, our main heroine did not think only of marrying for love as she also admitted she wouldn t
marry a poor man the mortifying conviction that handsome young men must have something to live
on as well as the plain (26.28). Another time when Elizabeth went against the social norm is at her
visit to Netherfield when she walked destroying her dress and appearing covered in mud, something
rather shocking for a lady from upper middle class. And then again; she feels ashamed for Lydia, a
fifteen years old girl at the beginning of the story, running of with Wickham and the couple end up
marrying because Darcy forced too and he did this for elizabeths which made her fall in love even
more, and feels relieved because the family s reputation is saved in the end.
Elizabeth reflects Austen point of view in feminism and because of their radical nature, can be taken
as feminism of the 18th

Good And Evil In Lord Of The Flies Essay
In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some critics think his two themes are that there is
no hope for humankind and that evil is an inborn trait in all people. They think this because they are
becoming chaotic savages, abusing their power and their instinct to survive and kill starts to take over.
The critics think the themes are there is no hope for humankind and evil is in all people because the
boys in the book become savages and everything turns to chaos and violence. At the beginning of the
book the boys elect a chief and start to create jobs for everyone, like attending the fire and hunting.
Although, as the story continues the boys start to not care about tending the fire, they only care about
having fun. Pretty soon everyone starts to disregard Ralph, their chief, and follow Jack because he
wants to have fun and hunt. What they don t realize is that if they don t tend to the fire they re never ...

Even though the book is mainly a male novel, males are still human and girls have the same instinct to
kill as boys do. On the island all the boys have evil inside of them, including Ralph, and if there was a
girl on the island she would have evil in her too. They show this evil by helping to kill Simon who
was one of their friends. When they kill Simon they poured down the rock, leapt onto the beast,
screamed, struck, bit tore. There were no words, and no movements but the tearing of teeth and claws
(153). Even though they won t admit it to each other, they murdered Simon and at the time they had a
thirst for blood, and it gave them power and excitement. It is the evil inside of them that is coming out
and making them kill. Even Ralph, who is the most civilized of them all, helps to kill Simon. Also, it
shows how if they continued on this way humankind would slowly kill

Possible Difficulties In College Essay examples
The results of going to college the very first time vary with different people. Some people will be
frightened by the way of life change, and the transition from living with family to being by their
selves. On the other hand some people will be ready to move on, and to proceed with their future, and
will jump at the moment to take another class that will better themselves. College will provide
difficulties around every corner but will also provide the opportunities to go around those difficulties
to succeed.
When in an online college a difficulty may arise where a class will interfere with outside activities

Likewise participating in class after work will lessen the number of hours that will be used for outside
activities with friends and family. This may cause some people to feel overworked and become
frustrated, which may cause the student to loose sight of the overall picture.
On the contrary some people will find college easy due to their ability to adapt to a different
environment. They will rely on friends and fellow schoolmates to push them along until the end. For
instance a student may tell all of his friends about what classes that they are taking, and what
assignments are pressuring them. As a result of this method friends will constantly interact with them,
pressure them into completing the classes on time and completely, and will usually provide an input of
idea s and knowledge in for the assignments. Sometimes in classes there may be an assignment that
will be to difficult to complete based on knowledge, however the ability to go to a classmate and ask
for help, or even call a family member with the knowledge in a certain subject, will always be an
available tool. Similarly online is a great tool, schools will provide a forum or a chat room to interact
with classmates, and will usually provide a section for specific homework in order for students to post
questions, ultimately this will provide the opportunity for the class to input ideas and see the required

Confederate First Shot
History 3355: US Civil War and Reconstruction
For the assignment I read the article The Confederates and the First Shot. It is a well thought out and
developed argument to the issue of who is really responsible for the start of the Civil War in 1861.
Authored by Richard N. Current, the article seems to be examining the idea that it is Jefferson Davis,
and not Abraham Lincoln that began the war. Why would Richard Current explore this notion? To
begin, if you examine who Richard Current is by profession, you will quickly see that he is a historian
who specializes in Abraham Lincoln. This gives a quick glance viability to the argument, but at the
same time invites the openness for bias or fact picking. Therefore, before reading the article it is ...

the reality of the situation forced Jefferson Davis into aggression against Fort Sumter. This began a
chain of events leading to the first shots. Jefferson Davis knew that he needed to gain the support of
the border states in order to resist the North. Fort Sumter put a faster time clock on the issue. No
longer could the South wait to unify the seceded states. Now Jefferson Davis needed to use a show of

Currently, many businesses are looking toward engagement, which measures satisfaction,
commitment, and also energy and enthusiasm. How a person feels about the work they do everyday
has the greatest impact on engagement since they want to feel valued and be recognized for their
efforts. That is truer now than ever since many people are working more than the standard forty hours
a week and want to know that their time away from family matters. Satisfied employees are not
necessarily engaged. Engaged employees have an emotional connection to the organization, believe
they are contributing, and are growing both individually and professionally and put forth additional
effort to complete tasks. That being said, recent studies suggest employers should switch their focus
from employee satisfaction to employee engagement scores since it is a better indicator for retention
of talent, satisfaction in culture and branding, and stakeholder value. While trying to recruit new talent
from outside the organization, it is equally important to re recruit top performers that are already
employed. Discussing why they made the decision to join the company the first time and engaging
them in conversations regularly to discuss their needs and vision for the future is key for retention.

Infield Training History
Competitive baseball became popular in the United States in the mid 1800s and is now one of the
leading sports in America. With the design of the field and the job of the players, this sport s positions
primarily make up a defensive team. During the game, it becomes a one man offense for each hitter.
Overall, defensive positions can be broken up into 3 different types: the battery, infielders, and
outfielders. The battery consists of the pitcher and catcher, their job is to coordinate the pitch to ensure
a strike or miss for the batter. The infielders consist of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd basemen, and shortstop. The

Workplace Conflict Resolution – a Case Study
Workplace Conflict Resolution A Case Study
Posted on October 13, 2009
Leaders frequently face situations where conflict arises in the workplace and they re called upon to
resolve the situation. Although conflict is not generally regarded as a positive experience it actually
can be a key opportunity to create change that will reduce friction in the workplace. We can begin to
defuse conflict by understanding what it is and implementing some practical strategies to manage it.
Conflict is a natural part of the workplace experience; people do not see eye to eye on everything and
often dig in and defend their positions. Conflict arises when individuals do not see the world in the
same way. The trap we fall into is assuming that conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tom has tried everything he knows to smooth things out but the two still spar frequently. This chronic
pattern has led to disciplinary action by Tom and complaints to human resources by Tina. Both parties
are productive employees who love the company and their jobs but do not know how to move beyond
all this conflict. Tom realizes that in order to build an effective team he has to have Tina on board but
he doesn t know how to do it. He knows that by using Tina s skills and energy he will look better and
the company will benefit. But how to do it?
Following our common sense approach Tom asks Tina to sit down and talk. It s important to mention
first that managers benefit greatly by putting in place some key elements that lead to successful
conversations such as meeting at a mutually convenient time, no distractions or interruptions allowed,
no agendas, a calm environment and unrestricted time to talk. When we set up an environment
conducive to relaxed conversation we create a greater likelihood of success. A small investment in
time up front to talk in depth can more than make up for the countless lost hours and cost devoted to
ongoing conflict.

Analysis Of The Movie If I Die
The war in Vietnam was unlike many wars that the United States has become involved in with military
action. The Vietnam War is one that the United States had no direct reason to become a part of the
conflict. Even though we weren t directly attacked by Vietnam to initiate American involvement in the
war, the leadership of the American government, at the time, thought it was necessary for the United
States to get involved to help stop the spread of communism. Many people disagreed with the decision
to go to war in Vietnam and one of those people who vocalized his opposition was Tim O Brien. As
we see in the book If I Die in a Combat Zone , Tim O Brien is extremely critical of the war in
Vietnam.
Tim views himself as a coward for participating in a war that he saw as unjust. It is very evident why
he thinks this way as he doesn t think going to war is the answer to the problems that are facing
Vietnam. He does not see it as a means to prevent the spread of communism to other countries. O
Brien sees the war as unethical and unwarranted for the simple reason that Vietnam was basically at
war with itself. It was a civil war contained within Vietnam. The United States decided to send troops
abroad to deal with a situation of civil unrest that did not directly impact American citizens. His
opinion was that the US government had no business getting involved in the affairs of another country
especially when it put United States citizens in danger unnecessarily. O Brien

may have a bit of science to back them up, but the diets are so restrictive and difficult, no one can
stick to them. Losing weight temporarily on a fad diet does not equal success. Diet success is defined
as keeping that weight off permanently. If a fad diet is impossible to follow for very long, you ll just re

The Pros And Cons Of Firearm Control
At this current time, a war is being waged; A war over firearms, and the restrictions that should be
placed upon them. This war , more so called a debate, is over the well known topic, firearm control.
Firearm control is a daily topic in the government and a well known topic among the citizens as well
(Dilascio). With many people as well as positions protecting both sides of the debate, People tend to
use repetitively common defense for harsh firearm control as well as help bring the points against
firearm control to light. The two tightly intertwined topics firearm control and firearm violence are hot
debate topics in today s media and government. Since these topics are so prominent in today s society,
it is vital that loose topics that barely relate to defense be brought to light. A lot of citizens are ignorant
to many topics about firearms and how they work, often relying on information gathered from others
instead of information obtained through their own means. Firearm control may reduce overall
violence, but impedes on the Second Amendment and self protection. Firearms are often referred to as
the root of all violence and crime. Although, in particular, it is said that firearms are a leading cause of
biracial violence (French). It is a common defense that firearms cause racial violence and hence
should be put under harsher laws, but this is a misconception. Firearms are not a cause of racial

Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System
The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the
Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good
government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of independence,
friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These two parties began the
system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have ended up with a system in
which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other continually, and where we end up
with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is a system where there are only two
options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties
have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote
for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. The Republicans ideology is American
conservatism, which involves support of free market capitalism, free enterprise, a strong national
defense, and de regulation and restrictions on labor unions. The Democrats ideology is mostly

Jung or Carl Jung s theory of eight psychological types. These eight types explained by Jung, fall
under one of the four functions; sensing, intuition, thinking, or feeling and are combined with one of
two attitudes; extraversion and introversion ( Carl Jung n.d.). The MBTI has 16 personality types that
make Carl Jung s psychological type understandable and practical. After completing the MBTI, you
are given a four letter type in which could be different from anyone else that completes the MBTI, no
type is better or worse, it is assigned to you based on how you answered the questions. Also, there is
no right or wrong answer. When assigned a four four letter type, the letters are based on these four
different categories, favorite world (extraversion or introversion, information (sensing or intuition,
decisions (thinking or feeling) and structure (judging or perceiving) ( MBTI® Basics n.d.).
After completing the Myers Briggs Type Inventory, Chelsea s four letter type was ISFJ or introvert,
sensing, feeling and judging. Each letter was assigned a percentage, introvert (62%), sensing (6%),
feeling (6%) and judging (28%). According to the four letter type, she has a distinct preference of
introversion over extraversion, she has a slight preference of sensing over intuition,

helped to pave the way for discussions and actions that benefited the minorities of Canada. The
individual agendas of Louis Riel where ones that ranged greatly in ambition. Stretching from
seemingly minor or common goals such as self improvement to the grandiose and peculiar goals of
becoming a new world prophet and setting up a new world Vatican in western Canada to foster Métis
peoples and minorities (Riel 93) . Some of the most prominent and acted upon goals by Louis Riel
however where the ones he envisioned of equal, fair, and respectful treatment of Métis and First
Nations people across the nation of Canada by the federal government itself. From the time Louis Riel
emerged as a leader during the Red River Rebellion, Louis had many particular goals in mind, all
supporting the agenda of fair treatment for the Métis by the government. As the Rebellion was being
resolved by the Treaty of Manitoba, Louis Riel had many demands of the Angelo Canadian
government (Francis 40). Louis first and foremost demanded that Manitoba be confederated as a
province, allowing the Métis to have more say in the election of their own delegates and to be able to
govern themselves, preserving their way of life and there tight cultural ties. Louis Riel also demanded
that the government and schools in Manitoba would be Bi Lingual, Preserving the Franco Canadian

Reactance Window Drying
Reactance Window drying: Reactance Technology is a novel drying system. It uses circulating water
at atmospheric pressure as a means to carry thermal energy to material to be dehydrated.[2] Infrared
Zone Drying: It uses infrared energy applied to a thin film of product in a series of zones. This allows
product to be maintained at a low temperature to avoid damage while in its liquid state. DRYING
FUNDAMENTALS Drying involves the removal of moisture in thermal drying; this is achieved by
give the heat to the product. The heat increases the vapor pressure of the moisture in the product above
that of the surrounding air. Pressure and thermal cause the moisture, liquid and vapor, to move to the
surface of the product. Evaporation takes place and water vapor is transferred to the surrounding air.
This air may become saturated but the process of drying continues if this moist air is replaced by less
saturated air. In a crop there is a combination of free and bound moisture. Free moisture is water that
can move through the product in an unrestricted way. Its movement is not dependent on the internal
structure of the crop. The vaporization evaporation process is at a maximum when there is sufficient
free water in the product to replace that evaporated at its surface. As this moisture is evaporated the
moisture content of the product falls and the product temperature is close to the wet bulb temperature
of the drying air. This period in the drying process is usually known as

Canadian Friendship Treaties
Peace and Friendship Treaties Reflection
Peace and Friendship treaties, in Canada, were agreements that proposed long lasting promises,
mutual obligations, and and benefits for both sides. An early peace treaty was The Great Law of Peace
and The People of the Longhouse. This treaty was made to govern customs and relationships between
the tribes. It was passed down orally from generations and was written down for the first time in 1880.
Another treaty that was made between Europeans and Aboriginal peoples was the great piece of 1701.
This treaty helped stabilize the Europeans with the Aboriginals. This treaty still exists to this day. The

However they were orally talk to the people of each tribe. Oral treaties were meant for settling land
disputes and ending other conflicts amongst different bands. Rain and marriage arrangements were
commonly made between tribes as well. When the Europeans came into contact with the first
aboriginals, they use their own methods with written treaties instead of oral treaties. The peace treaty
was made within a written treaty, this was usually how they represented relationships between
Europeans and the Aboriginal people. Another interesting, historical way that the First Nations kept
records of their relationships was with the first nations wampum belt. Wampum belts were usually
mean to keep travel records or communicate with other groups when they would come across different
bands. So, not only did the Europeans and aborigines have treaties, both sides had agreement
agreements that helped everyone get along. Treaties are mutually beneficial, instead of just taking
what each group wanted from each other, they had mutual respect and rules which made life easier
when existing with each other. However the Europeans did try to pursue the First Nations into doing
what they wanted. First Nations we re not always happy with the written trees made among the
Europeans because they did not include the oral promises made to the First Nations. There is no
question that this made the aboriginals

Pros And Cons Of De-Extinction
De extinction, the revival of extinct species through cloning, has reasons for and against it. However,
the Point argument supporting it was better because it explained how reviving these species would not
only be beneficial in that area of studies, but in science and the world as a whole. There are many
reasons stated for this, including the repairing of Earth and the expansion of human knowledge and
capabilities.
As stated in the Point argument, de extinction is a way to undo what humans have done to nature, and
a way to prevent it. The argument explains, [Woolly Mammoth s] return to the north would bring back
carbon fixing grass and reduce greenhouse gas releasing tundra (Point para 3). This explains how

For example, people have been critical about the space program since its inception (Point para 7).
Even though people were skeptical, the space program has led scientists to establish things like
satellites, which give weather forecasts. The same thing could happen to de extinction, and it could
completely change the world forever. In addition, as controversial as all of it is, and possibly because
it s controversial, it s going to help drive interest in [species loss], in a way that conservation by itself
couldn t do... (Point para 4). Because of all the interest in the subject of de extinction, it could lead to
an inspiration to do more things to conserve life on the planet. If a lot of attention is brought to a
subject, there are more people interested that have a potential to do something about it. Lastly the
author writes, the genome manipulation used in de extinction research might bring about even more
marvels (Point para 7). One of the marvels that could come out of this is human health. If scientists are
able to manipulate DNA and essentially life itself, there would be endless possibilities for what they
could manipulate in humans, like disease prevention and even physical attributes. An argument could
be that de extinction is unethical because it is impossible to recreate the habitat for those animals, so
they would suffer. They died for a reason, usually along with their

How has the company chosen to improve its knowledge of customers and therefore its decision
making? Analyze the management, organization, and technology dimensions of the solution.
HSBC, as with other banks, took advantage of many poor consumers looking to own their own home.
These consumers had low credit scores, are in default or have low income, which means there was a
higher probability of them not paying back the loan. These banks took advantage by not explaining the
entire process of how the amount will double and the interest rate will become adjustable after a
couple years. This led to many subprime mortgage loan holders to not meet payments and ... Show

When you have lenders not collecting the right information on consumers to help predict if they are
able to pay the loan or not and not explaining the loan correctly to consumers, it causes conflicts.
Consumers did not really understand the loans; they just knew they would become homeowners.
Subprime loans are the worst, to me. Who wants to pay back 10 times what their home is actually
worth? The new Experian Scorex software will provide great value to HSBC s strategy management.
This new system will collect information and will help HSBC in their credit decisions. George
Lennox, Senior Manager, Group Credit and Risk at HSBC: As one of the world s leading financial
organizations, it is important to us that we make use of leading edge decision support technology.
(Experian) By implementing this new technology, HSBC will better assist their new and existing
customers.

Primer On Neoliberalism
The interaction of author s voices and general perspectives shows the extent that globalization has had
on our world and the idea that globally sustainable development needs to be at the forefront of future
progress is clear. Alkali in particular addresses what he sees as the benefits from globalization and
international groups such as the UN. This global connection however, seems as though for some
sources goes hand in hand with the influence of neoliberalism. In A Primer on Neoliberalism, Anup
Shah describes neoliberalism as the mechanism for global trade and investment supposedly for all
nations to prosper and develop fairly and equitably . However, it has created a battle for resources and

On page 30 of Wright states that we have reached a stage where we must bring the experiment under
rational control, and guard against present and potential dangers . Wright suggests that humanity needs
to make drastic changes to keep themselves alive, this echoes the statements that many of the authors
have said of the importance of sustainability and sustainable development in developing countries. In
the Brundtland report and Forjaz s article in particular, look at how we have reached a point where
sustainability is no longer an option but a necessity for as Wright puts it, the experiment to continue .
The relationship between local and international perspectives on sustainable development in
developing countries can be informed by Massey s description of power geometry and time space
compression. Massey describes time space compression as the movement and communication across
space, to the geographical stretching out of social relations, and to our experience of all this . Time
space compression is one of the things that influences how people around the world interact and

cognitively. Infancy emotional development is discussed in chapter four. Physical According to

I observed a twenty four month old named Caiden. He weighs twenty six pounds and is thirty four
inches tall. He had blonde hair and green eyes. Upon arrival, he appeared very happy, full of energy,
and ready to play. I had a puppy with me, so I was very interested to see what his reaction would be.
Fortunately, Caiden loved the puppy. Caiden and the puppy were nearly the same height, and Caiden
kept tapping the puppy s head. After playing with the puppy for about five minutes he took off running
towards the cows. He ran right up to the fence and started to moo at them. He did this for a few short
minutes. Next, he ran back to the driveway where his parents were. He began picking up rocks and
asking me to hold them. Once he gave me a handful of rocks, he would get his own handful and want
to throw them. This activity was repeated about eleven times. After he got tired of the rocks, he went
into the barn and started to pick up empty gas cans (the big ones that were about the same size as
him). He would drag them from one side to the other. I asked him why he was moving them and with
the most serious look on his face he responded, daddy does it. Once all the gas cans had been moved
to his liking took a significant amount of time he started to point to the top of a shelf, saying that, that.
I eventually figured out he was pointing to a rope. He wanted to put it around the gas cans. Later, his
mom gave him some goldfish for a snack. Each time he picked up a goldfish he

The Beauty of Nature Essay examples
The Beauty of Nature
The sunset was not spectacular that day. The vivid ruby and tangerine streaks that so often caressed
the blue brow of the sky were sleeping, hidden behind the heavy mists. There are some days when the
sunlight seems to dance, to weave and frolic with tongues of fire between the blades of grass. Not on
that day. That evening, the yellow light was sickly. It diffused softly through the gray curtains with a
shrouded light that just failed to illuminate. High up in the treetops, the leaves swayed, but on the
ground, the grass was silent, limp and unmoving. The sun set and the earth waited.
On the edge of a small wood, an ancient tree sat hunched over, the gnarled, old king of a once vast
domain that had long ago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bees still buzzed and hummed among the flowers; the deer still grazed softly among the
undulating waves of grass, yet in that moment, their movement seemed arrested, held in check by the
waning sun.
And the winds came.
The wild west wind came down through the fields, rousing the deer from their reverie, and swaying
the bee studded flowers. From its highest bough to the loose sand on its mighty roots, the ancient tree
quivered lightly, yet was untroubled by the breeze. Many a storm had passed over the tree, yet no rain
had managed to drown those fathomless roots, no hail had managed to bite the iron bark.
As the stars hang, unchanging in the nighttime sky, and as the sun moves in ceaseless circles around
the earth, so the tree had endured. And even as the wind rustled in its outermost boughs, the tree
looked out to the sun, as if for reassurance about its own unchanging eternity. On the horizon, no
yellow eye looked back. The sun was gone.
In a tumult of wind and rain, a hail of twigs and leaves thundered through the trees and tore the
arching grasses out by the roots. The deer bolted and hid, quivering, in the darkest thickets. The sky
boiled, and the younger saplings were bent almost to the ground. Even as the shadows bounded up the
stalks and blades of weeping grass, and the soft plink of falling rain quickened to a constant hiss and
sputter, the sun found its equal. A thousand stars came down to earth and unleashed their pent up fury
on that wood.

Graffiti As A Sustainable And Decent Art Form
In modern societies, there are ongoing debates among multiple stakeholders regarding the nature and
acceptability of graffiti as a sustainable and decent art form. Having gained immense popularity in
urban environments, graffiti has always been on the verge between art and vandalism. The reason for
such controversial perceptions lies in the definition of graffiti and its origins. As Campos defines it,
graffiti and street art could be considered a practice through which individuals appropriate the city and
whose nature is consistently described as subversive (Campos, 2015, p. 17) and illicit. That is, the
subculture of graffiti implies the element of illicit artistic expression placed in public view. While the
original purpose of graffiti as the practice was born in Philadelphia of the 1960s was tagging through
specific styles of writing and lettering, further development of the culture (Mettler, 2012, p. 252). At
the same time, development of graffiti form lettering focused on the writer s name to more elaborate
forms including imagery and as street art making it the focus have raised even more debate regarding
graffiti. This essay will argue that graffiti is a decent form of visual art involving skills, artistic vision
and sociocultural context: that is, not all graffiti works are vandalism, for many of them occupy public
spaces with the purpose of decoration or communication of socially significant messages. As an
example, the graffiti created by Futura

I am going to talk about a book that show a kid that try to change his life and try to hide his past for his new friends The name of this book is Jake Reinvented. Jeff Tanner and Mary Anne Raymond describe self concept as how you see yourself either in a positive or negative way. Your ideal self is how you would like to see yourself. The products and services that would be successfully marketed to individuals are as follow: Openness describes the degree to which a person is curious, original, intellectual, creative, and open to new ideas in the market. According to Barrick, M. R., Mount, M. K. (1991), People in the Openness degree are in the level of learning new skills, and they are also fabulous in doing well at training. They are attached with validity of personality, cognitive ability, and dimensions measured by an assessment center and a behavior description interview. A researcher, Wanberg, C. • 4. Comparing Oroonoko And The Vampyre The philosophical question of whether humans are inherently evil or inherently good is a constant reminder of the inevitable influence that outside forces can have on a person. Are people susceptible to evilness or do we simply learn evilness from our corrupt and undesirable surroundings? This question is addressed in both Oroonoko by Aphra Behn and The Vampyre: A Tale by John William Polidori, where the theme of Betrayal is the inevitable soul of each story. The main focal point of Oroonoko follows the lies, deceit, and betrayal that the honorable Prince Oroonoko faces. • 5. The Impact Of The Colorado Gold Rush If you had the opportunity to get rich off of gold, would you? Would you be willing to leave everything you have behind to move thousands of miles across the country just for gold? In 1859, the answer for many people was yes. Word of gold found throughout Colorado spread across the country and launched the Pike s Peak Gold Rush or also known as the Colorado Gold Rush. There are several significant events in Colorado history that have had an influential impact on the state we know today. The Colorado Gold Rush, in 1859, was the most significant event in Colorado History for several reasons: the rush attracted thousands of people to our state, initiated the mining of other resources, succored farming and ranching throughout the state, and boosted the economy of the towns here in Colorado; these benefits of the rush continue to play a role in our state still today. Because of the Colorado Gold Rush, people swarmed into the state with the optimism of becoming rich. Even though many of these people were go backers, the people that did stay assisted in the development of mining towns all throughout the state. A Pike s Peak journalist described the flocking of people claiming thousands from the farther East swarmed into the Missouri valley towns, and enough hardy souls crossed the Plains in the fall of 1858 to give the newly founded towns of Auraria and Denver at the mouth of Cherry creek on the South Platte about 125 cabins, huts, and tents by Christmas. Phoenix has done nothing but expand thanks to the much endless desert space they are surrounded by. Many suburban areas where created around Phoenix due to large amount of family homes built. Along with all of the development and amount of time, Phoenix is actually now surrounded by 24 smaller cities. A large amount of ecosystems where destroyed in order to build a lot of single family homes and a lot of streets. A big reason for the Phoenix region growing outwards rather than upwards is mostly due to land being priced very cheap and allowing larger margins of profits because homes are not build until they have all been completely purchased by the customers. A great example of how the city of Phoenix is expanding right now is the community named Anthem. It is a community in which people don t really ever need to go out of their community because it has everything in it. • 7. Literature And Old English Literature Throughout history, English Literature has evolved in many ways. It has changed from Old English to Middle English. One big change is how we shared and communicated stories. Quite a few other things that changed are the attitudes of fighters, and who heroes fought against. The treatment of women differed from seeing women as possessions to seeing them as people. The role of religion changed to have less of an influence. Plagues led to the end of the feudal system, and king s absolute power was taken away. The mass production of books came after the end of the plague. People started keeping records of time. Climate change created many issues with crops. All of these changes caused extraordinary effects on the transition from Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These aspects changed during the Middle English era. Fighters went from almost barbaric attitudes to being chivalrous. Fighters also no longer fought for personal fame, and instead fought for god, the king, honor, and women. With this attitude we saw many more knights in the society. Similarly who heroes fought was also greatly changed from Old English to Middle English. In Old English heroes would go into battles against monsters twice their size. Heroes also fought against gods and other supernatural forces. They were seen as everyday people who could take down and defeat these forces no man should be able to. The hero s tales soon changed from these outrageous stories of fighting monsters to Arthurian legends. In the Arthurian legends, heroes were the kings and knights who fought to protect their kingdom. Earthy stories were told of the middle class to make them seem dirty and undesirable. Equally important is how in Old English women were seen as objects to fulfill men s desires. Women were a Source of unpaid labor, and offerings. The consideration of women as equals was not common. When making treaties men of power would use attractive women as a pawn to ensure the favored outcome. Duchess Eleanor of Aquitaine was one of the first to bring the unjust treatment of women to light. She provided a strong figure for women to aspire to be. • 8. Gender Discrimination In Society Gender discrimination. Everyday, everywhere. We ve all gone through it. But the real question is..... Which gender is discriminated against more? I for one believe that females face more gender discrimination than males do. Gender inequality is defined as perceptions of individuals due to their gender and judgements or expectations based on what society deems appropriate for their gender. I will admit. Males are also discriminated against. But not as strongly as females. In our society, we constantly hear phrases that corrupt our expectations of women. Phrases that manipulate us to believe that there is only one gender and one gender only that is strongly discriminated against. Today, in our generation, in our community, in our society, that may as well be true. Men aren t considered equal to women, and women are DEFINITELY not considered equal to men. In the past, if a woman pursued a career in engineering, not only would she be judged by society, but also by her family that she is not fit for the occupation of an engineer, because she was not a man. If a man pursued nursing as a career, he would be considered an unsuccessful doctor. This was because society classified it as a woman s job. Luckily for us, the 21st Century has evolved from such expectations. On occasion, men are given equal opportunities to women. Emma Watson is a role model in the eyes of many people, including my own. It is very evident why he thinks this way as he doesn t think going to war is the answer to the problems that are facing Vietnam. He does not see it as a means to prevent the spread of communism to other countries. • 24. Reactance Window Drying Reactance Window drying: Reactance Technology is a novel drying system. It uses circulating water at atmospheric pressure as a means to carry thermal energy to material to be dehydrated.[2] Infrared Zone Drying: It uses infrared energy applied to a thin film of product in a series of zones. This allows product to be maintained at a low temperature to avoid damage while in its liquid state. DRYING FUNDAMENTALS Drying involves the removal of moisture in thermal drying; this is achieved by give the heat to the product. The heat increases the vapor pressure of the moisture in the product above that of the surrounding air. Pressure and thermal cause the moisture, liquid and vapor, to move to the surface of the product. Evaporation takes place and water vapor is transferred to the surrounding air. This air may become saturated but the process of drying continues if this moist air is replaced by less saturated air. In a crop there is a combination of free and bound moisture. Free moisture is water that can move through the product in an unrestricted way. Its movement is not dependent on the internal structure of the crop. The vaporization evaporation process is at a maximum when there is sufficient free water in the product to replace that evaporated at its surface. As this moisture is evaporated the moisture content of the product falls and the product temperature is close to the wet bulb temperature of the drying air. The argument explains, [Woolly Mammoth s] return to the north would bring back carbon fixing grass and reduce greenhouse gas releasing tundra (Point para 3). This explains how bringing back extinct animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, people have been critical about the space program since its inception (Point para 7). Even though people were skeptical, the space program has led scientists to establish things like satellites, which give weather forecasts. The same thing could happen to de extinction, and it could completely change the world forever. In addition, as controversial as all of it is, and possibly because it s controversial, it s going to help drive interest in [species loss], in a way that conservation by itself couldn t do... (Point para 4). Because of all the interest in the subject of de extinction, it could lead to an inspiration to do more things to conserve life on the planet. If a lot of attention is brought to a subject, there are more people interested that have a potential to do something about it. Lastly the author writes, the genome manipulation used in de extinction research might bring about even more marvels (Point para 7). One of the marvels that could come out of this is human health. If scientists are able to manipulate DNA and essentially life itself, there would be endless possibilities for what they could manipulate in humans, like disease prevention and even physical attributes. An argument could be that de extinction is unethical because it is impossible to recreate the habitat for those animals, so they would suffer. They died for a reason, usually along with their ... Technology Hsbc Case Study Technology HSBC Case Study March 10, 2012 Professor Shaw Argosy University How has the company chosen to improve its knowledge of customers and therefore its decision making? Analyze the management, organization, and technology dimensions of the solution. HSBC, as with other banks, took advantage of many poor consumers looking to own their own home. These consumers had low credit scores, are in default or have low income, which means there was a higher probability of them not paying back the loan. These banks took advantage by not explaining the entire process of how the amount will double and the interest rate will become adjustable after a couple years. This led to many subprime mortgage loan holders to not meet payments and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you have lenders not collecting the right information on consumers to help predict if they are able to pay the loan or not and not explaining the loan correctly to consumers, it causes conflicts. Consumers did not really understand the loans; they just knew they would become homeowners. Subprime loans are the worst, to me. Who wants to pay back 10 times what their home is actually worth? The new Experian Scorex software will provide great value to HSBC s strategy management. This new system will collect information and will help HSBC in their credit decisions. George Lennox, Senior Manager, Group Credit and Risk at HSBC: As one of the world s leading financial organizations, it is important to us that we make use of leading edge decision support technology. • 28. Primer On Neoliberalism The interaction of author s voices and general perspectives shows the extent that globalization has had on our world and the idea that globally sustainable development needs to be at the forefront of future progress is clear. Alkali in particular addresses what he sees as the benefits from globalization and international groups such as the UN. This global connection however, seems as though for some sources goes hand in hand with the influence of neoliberalism. In A Primer on Neoliberalism, Anup Shah describes neoliberalism as the mechanism for global trade and investment supposedly for all nations to prosper and develop fairly and equitably . However, it has created a battle for resources and many of these places are in previous colonies of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On page 30 of Wright states that we have reached a stage where we must bring the experiment under rational control, and guard against present and potential dangers . Wright suggests that humanity needs to make drastic changes to keep themselves alive, this echoes the statements that many of the authors have said of the importance of sustainability and sustainable development in developing countries. In the Brundtland report and Forjaz s article in particular, look at how we have reached a point where sustainability is no longer an option but a necessity for as Wright puts it, the experiment to continue . The relationship between local and international perspectives on sustainable development in developing countries can be informed by Massey s description of power geometry and time space compression. Massey describes time space compression as the movement and communication across space, to the geographical stretching out of social relations, and to our experience of all this . Time space compression is one of the things that influences how people around the world interact and engage with each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Infant Observation Paper I observed a child named Caiden Rawson. He is 24 months old. I observed him on his farm in Kosciusko, MS for two hours. According to chapter one of our book, he is currently in the developmental stage of infancy. At each age, a child should show certain cognitive, emotional, and physical characteristics. Chapter three describes how an infant should be developing physically and cognitively. Infancy emotional development is discussed in chapter four. Physical According to chapter three, during an infant s second year growth slows and there is a sharp increase in activities, such as running and climbing. Also, by two years of age the average infant is approximately twenty six to thirty two pounds. Infants gain about a quarter of a pound to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I observed a twenty four month old named Caiden. He weighs twenty six pounds and is thirty four inches tall. He had blonde hair and green eyes. Upon arrival, he appeared very happy, full of energy, and ready to play. I had a puppy with me, so I was very interested to see what his reaction would be. Fortunately, Caiden loved the puppy. Caiden and the puppy were nearly the same height, and Caiden kept tapping the puppy s head. After playing with the puppy for about five minutes he took off running towards the cows. He ran right up to the fence and started to moo at them. He did this for a few short minutes. Next, he ran back to the driveway where his parents were. He began picking up rocks and asking me to hold them. Once he gave me a handful of rocks, he would get his own handful and want to throw them. This activity was repeated about eleven times. After he got tired of the rocks, he went into the barn and started to pick up empty gas cans (the big ones that were about the same size as him). He would drag them from one side to the other. I asked him why he was moving them and with the most serious look on his face he responded, daddy does it. Once all the gas cans had been moved to his liking took a significant amount of time he started to point to the top of a shelf, saying that, that. I eventually figured out he was pointing to a rope. He wanted to put it around the gas cans. Later, his mom gave him some goldfish for a snack. Each time he picked up a goldfish he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Beauty of Nature Essay examples The Beauty of Nature The sunset was not spectacular that day. The vivid ruby and tangerine streaks that so often caressed the blue brow of the sky were sleeping, hidden behind the heavy mists. There are some days when the sunlight seems to dance, to weave and frolic with tongues of fire between the blades of grass. Not on that day. That evening, the yellow light was sickly. It diffused softly through the gray curtains with a shrouded light that just failed to illuminate. High up in the treetops, the leaves swayed, but on the ground, the grass was silent, limp and unmoving. The sun set and the earth waited. On the edge of a small wood, an ancient tree sat hunched over, the gnarled, old king of a once vast domain that had long ago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bees still buzzed and hummed among the flowers; the deer still grazed softly among the undulating waves of grass, yet in that moment, their movement seemed arrested, held in check by the waning sun. And the winds came. The wild west wind came down through the fields, rousing the deer from their reverie, and swaying the bee studded flowers. From its highest bough to the loose sand on its mighty roots, the ancient tree quivered lightly, yet was untroubled by the breeze. Many a storm had passed over the tree, yet no rain had managed to drown those fathomless roots, no hail had managed to bite the iron bark. As the stars hang, unchanging in the nighttime sky, and as the sun moves in ceaseless circles around the earth, so the tree had endured. And even as the wind rustled in its outermost boughs, the tree looked out to the sun, as if for reassurance about its own unchanging eternity. On the horizon, no yellow eye looked back. The sun was gone. In a tumult of wind and rain, a hail of twigs and leaves thundered through the trees and tore the arching grasses out by the roots. The deer bolted and hid, quivering, in the darkest thickets. The sky boiled, and the younger saplings were bent almost to the ground. Even as the shadows bounded up the stalks and blades of weeping grass, and the soft plink of falling rain quickened to a constant hiss and sputter, the sun found its equal. A thousand stars came down to earth and unleashed their pent up fury on that wood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Graffiti As A Sustainable And Decent Art Form In modern societies, there are ongoing debates among multiple stakeholders regarding the nature and acceptability of graffiti as a sustainable and decent art form. Having gained immense popularity in urban environments, graffiti has always been on the verge between art and vandalism. The reason for such controversial perceptions lies in the definition of graffiti and its origins. As Campos defines it, graffiti and street art could be considered a practice through which individuals appropriate the city and whose nature is consistently described as subversive (Campos, 2015, p. 17) and illicit. That is, the subculture of graffiti implies the element of illicit artistic expression placed in public view. While the original purpose of graffiti as the practice was born in Philadelphia of the 1960s was tagging through specific styles of writing and lettering, further development of the culture (Mettler, 2012, p. 252). At the same time, development of graffiti form lettering focused on the writer s name to more elaborate forms including imagery and as street art making it the focus have raised even more debate regarding graffiti. This essay will argue that graffiti is a decent form of visual art involving skills, artistic vision and sociocultural context: that is, not all graffiti works are vandalism, for many of them occupy public spaces with the purpose of decoration or communication of socially significant messages. As an example, the graffiti created by Futura ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
