How Did Shakespeare Contribute To The English Renaissance
English Renaissance
In the English Renaissance events happened that changed and made the contributions to the
Renaissance era which made things bad and good to the generations and future generations. The
Renaissance era was a period in of years that started in the 14th century and ended in the 17th century,
but the Renaissance era was not only based in Great Britain. It was happening all over Europe such as
Italy, France, and Spain. The English Renaissance contributed a lot in the era which was philosophy,
literature, music, and politics, so here are some of the people who made contributions to the English
Renaissance.
Queen Elizabeth I was crowned in 1558 after the death of her half sister Mary. While Queen Elizabeth
I ruled, a famous poet by the name of William Shakespeare was born in 1564, William Shakespeare
was known for his work such as Romeo and Juliet , The Tragedy of Macbeth , and Hamlet: Prince of
Denmark . Christopher Marlow, who was also a play writer and poet was born while Queen Elizabeth
I was ruling Great Britain, but he was also born in the same year as William Shakespeare. Six years
later on 1570 Queen Elizabeth was excommunicated by the Catholic Church, because Pope Pius V did
not like Queen Elizabeth I; he believed she had no right to the throne.

The important people during the English Renaissance made a huge impact on the Renaissance era, but
not only in Great Britain; they also changed the Renaissance era all over Europe. They changed
everything for their generation and future generations; for instance William Shakespeare s work is
being used during the 21st century for teaching and reading. Not all the people will be named, because
there were so many humans who did great and bad things, but some of the important people will

Prejudice In The Outsiders, By S. E. Hinton
The book The Outsiders is about two groups of kids who are separated by wealth. They always seem
to get into trouble whether it has to do with money, stealing, or fighting. Throughout their lives they
struggle with the question: are things really tough all over? S.E. Hinton´s Outsiders shows that
prejudice leads to wrong conclusions, violence, and oppression she shows this through the characters,
feelings and events that happen throughout the book. One of the main groups of characters, the
greasers, have many struggles that go on in their lives. Sixteen years on the street and you can learn a
lot, But all the wrong things, not the things you want to learn. Sixteen years on the streets and you see
a lot, But all the wrong sights, not the sights you want to see. This quote explains how while the
greasers grow up they have struggles and life changing events they have to see happening around
them like street fights, robberies, and financial troubles that they have to deal ... Show more content

An example of a symbol from The Outsiders is the switchblade. The switchblade is a very sharp and
threatening tool that the greasers use to look tough. The switchblade represents fear and violence. A
way that the switchblade represents fear and violence is when Johnny asks for Two Bit s switchblade
and keeps it in his pocket for protection showing that he has some fear of maybe getting jumped and
having to use it because he doesn t want to get killed. A quote that can support the question, are things
really tough all over? is Juvenile delinquents turn heroes . This quote means when things are going
bad you can still change and become good. This quote matters for the thesis because it shows that
when things are tough, like when you re a juvenile delinquent, it doesn t mean you can still change
and become a better person. Juvenile delinquency is also a very important theme that happens in The
Outsiders for example when Bob gets

Criticism Of My Hero Anime
Anime has steadily gained popularity over the years in America. Some viewers tuning into their
favorites as faithfully as some would Game of Thrones or The Handmaid s Tale. One of the more
popular series to air this season was Boku no Hero Academia or My Hero Academia. This superhero
anime has drawn the attention of thousands with compelling characters and a captivating plot. My
Hero Academia stands out among others because the main protagonist becomes a compelling and
realistic role model for the younger target audience. My Hero academia focuses on superheroes and
their special powers. The main character, a young boy named Izuku Midoria, is born quirkless. This
means he born without superpowers. In the first episodes, he is attempting to apply to U.A
Highschool. This prestigious school focuses on training heroes, as well as supporters and other fields
associated with hero work. Our young hero meets All might, the symbol of peace and number one
hero, who trains him and passes on the quirk One for All to Midoria. The series then focuses on
Midoria s school life at U.A as well as his growth as a hero with his newly acquired quirk. Midoria is
bullied for being a part of the 20% of the population who do not have a quirk, as seen in the first two
episodes of the series. According to stopbullying.org, about 28% of U.S students in grades 6 12 have
experienced some sort of bullying. Midoria offers a relatable character around the same age as the
target audience. Additionally,

Biology Of The Cannabis Genomic Research Initiative
Learning information has engaged and interested me throughout the courses I have taken; however,
the opportunity to discover new information through research is one of my most intellectually
stimulating experiences. With my goal to learn as much as possible under Dr. Nolan Kane, the
Professional Investigator of the Cannabis Genomic Research Initiative (CGRI), I have expanded my
traditional bench lab experience to bioinformatics, hemp breeding, and leading designing and
performing my own project examining differential protein expression in Cannabis. Although I am
deeply fascinated by a four letter code that encodes the human body, I am also providing myself the
freedom within my research to learn about other organisms and genetic diseases that I hope to treat
within my career.
My longest ongoing project began in October 2014 under the guidance of Dr. Daniela Vergara, a post
doctoral researcher of the CGRI, who helped another undergraduate student and I begin to
troubleshoot a protocol for a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The goal of this experiment was to
analyze variation between strains of Cannabis in a region of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Synthase
Gene that was amplified by another research team s primer set. The published protocol was originally
unsuccessful when attempting to be reproduced. My colleague and I had applied for the
Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program Grant, which funded our research to determine a
successful protocol for this PCR. However, near

Classical Civilizations And Ancient Civilizations
Classical civilizations (approximately ~1000BCE to 600 CE) These emerging civilizations were much
larger than the earlier ones of Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus Valley and Shang China displaying more

The Navajo Culture
The Navajo Culture David Rodriguez Introduction to Cultural Anthropology ANT: 101 Amy Van

A traditional ceremony consists of feeding friends and visitors attending, the wedding ceremony
would take place in the hogan with the groom and his father or uncle sitting on the west side followed
by the bride and her father or uncle. Sitting beside the boy on his right side they would be positioned
towards the east which was facing the door. Starting with the girl she would pour water onto the boy s
hands and he would wash them, then he would do the same to her washing her hands, this symbolized
purity and cleansing. A medicine man would then pray quietly while arranging a corn meal mush
decorated with pollen, they would then take turns eating the mush starting with the boy followed by
the girl. Usually they were instructed to eat it all, but if it was not all eaten it would be passed to each
of the boys family members so they could have a bite. Once the mush was eaten the mother of the boy
would keep the basket where the mush had been and preserve it at all times, this was important to a
successful marriage. Traditional weddings were held at night, but modern traditions allow them to be
held in the daytime, and because of this some believe it is the reason for divorce and family problems.
Once the wedding ceremony was over the couple would stay in the hogan while family and friends

Social Control Theory Of White Collar Crime
Many Criminologists have studied different theories to explain the reason behind the commission of
white collar crimes. Many of the current studies focus on a wide range of factors, rather than on few
factors, to explain why people commit white collar crimes in modern society. Sutherland theorized
that white collar crimes and conventional crimes were similar enough to focus on poverty and social
pathologies as the base reasoning for committing each type of crime (Friedrichs, 2014). However,
many of the people who commit white collar crimes do not live in poverty, and generally respected in
their field of expertise. Consequently, a general theory of white collar crime fails to consider a variety
of other factors and places those crimes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The social control theory does not focus on why a person commits a crime, but rather why a person
does not commit a crime. In this theory, people with strong values show restraint from committing
crimes because it goes against their nature. They exercise self restraint when confronted with the
numerous opportunities to commit crimes in society, whereas criminals commit crimes because they
do not have connections to society or institutions that hold morals in high regard. However, this theory
is flawed in that some perpetrators of white collar crimes are well connected to the corporations and
people who they commit crimes against and are less likely to reveal that they have committed the
crimes. Likewise, the control balance theory states that an imbalance between one s control over
another entity and the control held by an entity over that person will influence the likelihood that they
will commit a crime. However, this theory works well when applied to conventional crimes, but is still
developing in relation to white collar crime.
A relatively new theory into white collar crime focuses on the gender of the offender, as the context of
the crime is often lost when applying general theories against female culprits (Holtfreter, 2015).
Consequently, female offenders tend to commit white collar crimes for different reasons then their
male counterparts. Men may commit the crimes to enrich themselves or to punish the

What Was The Purpose Of The Asch Experiment
In chapter 5 of the textbook we learn about various groups and what they represent. A social group is
two or more people who identify with and interact with one another (Macionis 108). We also learned
about several different experiments and the understanding of each. Social groups are very important.
In the text book we learn about two different experiments. The Asch experiment includes a group of
students asking to compare two cards and to choose something on the card that matches the second
card. Many people in the experiment matched it correctly. Also there were people that would
constantly match the wrong ones on purpose. The purpose of the experiment was to recognize if any
of the participants of the experiment felt awkward during it. First of all they felt pressured to answer
correctly. Often when you are in a group of people you don t know you want to be as smart as you

down to a shock chair and was challenged by the teacher to answer questions or understand different
things by the teacher. If the learned failed to answer correctly they were automatically shocked and the

any increase in knowledge by the Learner. For example, did the learner try to answer more questions

Financial Forecasting: Riverview Community Hospital
Alpine Village Clinic is a small walk in clinic located next to the primary ski area of Alpine Village, a
winter resort close to Aspen, Colorado. The clinic specializes in treating injuries sustained while
skiing. It is owned and operated by two physicians: James Peterson, an orthopedist, and Amanda
Cook, an internist (Gapenski and Pink, 2009). The clinic has an outside accountant who takes care of
payroll matters, but Dr. Cook does all the other financial work for the clinic. However, to help in that
task, the clinic recently hired a part time MBA student, Doug Washington.

Daily billings are 20%, 20%, 60% collection based monthly and the lease payment is made on the first
of the month (Gapenski and Pink, 2009). Variable medical costs at the clinic are assumed to consist
entirely of medical and administrative supplies. These supplies, which are estimated to cost 15 percent
of billings, are purchased two months before expected usage. On average, the clinic pays about half of
its suppliers in the month of purchase and the other half in the following month (Gapenski and Pink,
2009).
Clinical labor costs are the primary expense of the clinic. During the high season (December through
March), these costs run $150,000 a month, but some of the clinical staff work only seasonally, so
clinical labor costs drop to $120,000 a month in the remaining months (Gapenski and Pink, 2009). The
clinic pays fixed general and administrative expenses, including clerical labor, of approximately
$30,000 a month, while lease obligations amount to $12,000 per month. These expenditures are
expected to continue at the same level throughout the forecast period. The clinic s miscellaneous
expenses are estimated to be $10,000 monthly.
The clinic has a semi annual, five year, 10 percent, $500,000 term loan outstanding with First Bank.
Payments of $64,752 are due on March 15 and September 15. Also, the clinic is planning to replace an
old x ray machine in February with a new one that costs $125,000

The Game Hex Was Invented By The Danish Mathematician Piet
The game Hex was invented by the Danish mathematician Piet Hein in the 1940s. This game has been
of great interest to mathematicians around the world since its introduction, including Martin Gardner
who explores it in chapter eight of his first Scientific American Book of Mathematical Puzzles and
Games (1959). The game is normally played on a board of 11x11 hexagons with two edges labelled
black and the other two labelled white. It is a two person game in which both players (using black and
white counters) attempt to create a chain connecting both of their respective sides of the board. This
chapter will stray away from the basics of Hex and instead explore a more specific aspect of the game:
ladders. Topics to be discussed include general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This knowledge will hopefully allow the player to place ladder escapes (discussed later in the
chapter), which will more often than not result in winning positions for the attacking player. The most
common ladder formation, the bottleneck, is one that all players should familiarize themselves with.
This occurs when there is a gap in between two defensive counters, and the attacking player must
place a counter in that gap, which ultimately forces a ladder like the one depicted in figure one on the
left. At this point, it would be wise to place an escape in the third row, to the left of where the ladder is
about to form. The reasoning behind this is that the defending player now has to deal with a ladder
escape and a possible connection to counters at the top of the board in C2, D3, and E4. All things
considered, an ideal placement for the ladder escape would be C9. Figure two shows the placement of
the red counter on C9 and the computer s response in A10. Can you now determine a placement that
would secure a win for the red player? Ladder escapes, as hinted to in the previous two paragraphs,
are of vital importance with regards to ladders and the successful formation of a connection to the
edge. Without the use of them, ladders would continue to extend until reaching an edge and ultimately
a victory for the player on the defensive side of the ladder. Similarly to ladders themselves, ladder
escape counters

World War Ii and America
The world s greatest war, World War II began in 1939 and lasted for almost six years. It was between
two military alliances. On the axis powers were Japan, Germany and the Kingdom of Italy. While the
allies were lead by United Kingdom, China, Soviet Union and The United States of America. America
was not directly involved in the war in the early stages. The necessity increased after the fall of
France, the Pearl Harbor incident but mainly when Hitler declared war on U.S. This led to America s
direct involvement in the World War II and helped America to transition from a great power to a super

Although America from the start had a stable economy due to the presence of natural resources like oil
and steel. Yet its rise to super power was when it surpassed Europe as a major power. Europe was a
part of many large destructive wars that left it completely bankrupt and destroyed most of its infra
structure which lead to the fall of Europe. Europe being directly involved in wars like the World War I
and World War II left it far behind in the race of super powers. America which was although involved
in the World War II faced much less damaged compared to the destruction faced by Europe. Soviet
Union also a major power failed in the race of super power because of the damages it faced from the
World War II but mainly it dropped out because of the fall of the So that left America as the only
dominating power in the world which had a stable and large economy with a huge military advantage
and immense power over international matters.
America was one of the main Allies in the World War II yet it did not face much destruction like other
allies it continued to grow and kept its economy stable. And when the other allies failed to rise up
America stood as a strong nation. Even when The United States of America was involved in World
War II it was not dragged down like other allies including Britain and Soviet Union. This led to the
creation of a super power. A country that before the war was just a great power became a super power.

Quotes From Mount Of Olives
Mount of Olives. Jesus states, You will all fall away... for it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and
the sheep of flock will be scattered. (Matthew 26:31 Mark 14:27). He refers to these lines because he
is the shepard, in his time of need, all of his disciples will leave, especially Peter who will disown him
three times (Shreibman). However, Luke is very literal and anti semitic and ignores or unknowingly
misses this quote because he may think it is an insignificant detail. By saying these lines it is also
praising Judas for his hard decision because he is only one. This gives the picture that Jesus death was
volition, while in Luke it is more betrayal. Luke puts in Peter/Simon s denial but misses the most
important part making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The newfound gospel challenges one of the most firmly rooted beliefs in Christian tradition. It
completely changes the understanding of God, the world, Christ not to mention of Judas himself and
the other disciple. Judas is the only one who is able to make the ultimate sacrifice. All three gospels
have quotes that contradicts Jesus willingness to die, but there was also a lot of quotes that supported
this. Not to dissuade anybody who is Christian but every gospel can be accepted while maintaining a
degree of scepticism about it truth due to some inconsistencies. There are also parts that may be
consistent with the actual historical Jesus would have said. Reading the three synoptic gospels have
been enlightening. I have never read it before and found the whole story to be interesting. What
shocked me the most was the hidden Gospel of Judas which changed my predisposed position that
Judas was evil. I also wonder how do Christians feel about this new

Analysis Of The Poem Long Black Song By Richard Wright
W.E.B Du Bois makes points of having a double consciousness and being behind a veil. While Booker
T. Washington points out that there is a dignity to be found in fruits from labor. In the reading of Long
Black Song, by Richard Wright, he uses both of these points in his text to make the story come alive.
Although, creatively both Du Bois and Washington s points can be found hidden within the text; it is
clear within this short story that Wright leaned to agree more with Du Bois points than he did with
Washington s points. W.E.B. Du Bois presents two ideas within his text, the idea that African
Americans live behind a veil and the idea that they constantly struggle with a double consciousness.
Double consciousness to Du Bois was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I said that any individual who learned to do something better than anybody else learned to do a
common thing in an uncommon manner had solved his problem, regardless of the colour of his skin,
and that in proportion as the Negro learned to produce what other people wanted and must have, in the
same proportion would he be respected. (Washington 76 77) Washington is basically saying dignity in
labor means that African American men will earn respect if they provide white men with something
useful, such as things you can get from working hard in a field and selling it to white men. This will
show them you are valuable and therefore they will respect you. The right to be respected by white
man has been earned and thus it will be given. Long Black Song starts out with hints towards Du Bois
idea of the veil with the lines, She saw green fields wrapped in the thickening gloam. It was as if they
had left the earth, those fields, and were floating slowly skyward. (Wright 65) The terms such as
thickening and floating give the image of being behind or on something. The idea that the fields are
being pulled into a veil. These lines give a bit of foreshadowing to the story when you read between
them leading us to whether Wright will side with Du Bois or Washington at the end of the story. Also

Browning s protagonist is a character that is the complete contrast to Shakespeare s Lady Macbeth,
who attempts to assume masculine qualities.
Many of the audience may declare that both women go against the natural order of things , especially
in a patriarchal society where women are seen to be servile to men. This is a quote from a fellow
student in my class. Although both Jacobean and Victorian societies would be shocked or fascinated
(or both) with the idea of a female committing murder. On the other hand, women tend to be more
susceptible to paranoia as well as jealousy. I would argue that this is more of an evolved, natural trait
among women. In both societies, women are expected to suppress those feelings, which may cause an
element of surprise among the audience. It may also cause fear within those in the audience whom
have a partner, because it may arouse the thought of their partner committing/participating in a similar
act involving them. On the whole, however, I disagree with the statement that Browning s protagonist
and Shakespeare s Lady Macbeth go against the natural order of things .
Although some would argue that, in a sense, Shakespeare s Lady Macbeth is extremely courageous
and very ambitious; I would argue that she has very clear characteristics of a psychopath. In act 1

History of Paper
The first historical mention of paper is 104 A.D. in China. The Empress of China at that time loved
books and wanted to have a lot of them made. At the time everything was written on silk scrolls which
were extremely expensive and time consuming to make. She wanted something cheaper and easier to
use and so she asked one of her servants, a gentleman by the name of Tsi Lun to come up with an
alternative. He worked for over nine years experimenting with different things and finally came up
with hemp, mulberry tree bark, silk and old fishing nets all ground up into a mushy pulp. I wonder
how he ever thought of it; the history books don t say. The Empress was very pleased and Tsi Lun was

An increase in literacy in the 18 th century and the resultant explosion of print caused a rag shortage
for making paper and research began to find an alternative source of fibers from which to make paper.
The industry, unfortunately, turned toward trees which were rather abundant at the time but getting
rather scarce today because of our love of the use of paper. The reason trees were choosen was their
cellulose content. Cellulose is actually the stuff out of which paper is formed. All plant matter has
cellulose fiber. Some more so than others. Trees have a lot of cellulose.
Why Cellulose? Cunously, the answer lies in the molecular structure of cellulose and water. It is a very
interesting story that borders on magic and wizardry. Water molecules have one large proton and two
little electrons. You could think of an image like a Mickey Mouse head with two ears and you will
have an image of a water molecule. Water molecule electrons have the habit of chaining together on
the surface of water, which causes an effect called surface tension. You could imagine a series of
Mickey Mouse heads joined together at their ears and you will have a picture of how this works. This
chaining process is the key to making paper. Cellulose fibers have one large proton and one electron
with a place on the proton for another electron to chain in (a Mickey Mouse head with only one ear).
When cellulose is suspended in water the water molecules do not discriminate against

Angelou and Alice Walker. One very important author before this time, through it, and long after is
Toni Morrison. Toni Morrison s childhood influenced her strong confidence in her race. Morrison was
born on February 18, 1931. Her birth name was Chloe Wofford ( Toni Morrison. EXPLORING).
Growing up, Morrison learned a lot about the African American culture. Almost all of Toni Morrison s
family members were storytellers, and they taught Morrison a lot about African American history (
Toni Morrison. UXL). The things she learned as a child set the foundation for her continuing love of
her culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Bluest Eye, published in 1970, received good reviews (Benson, Brannen, and Valentine). The
book focuses on a young black girl who wishes she had blonde hair and blue eyes, which she
perceives as beautiful ( Toni Morrison. Encyclopedia). She associates her dark skin, dark eyes, and
dark hair with ugliness. She believes her dark skin to be the reason she is bullied at school and abused
at home ( Toni Morrison. DIScovering). In this story, Toni Morrison brought to life the thoughts that
many young African American girls truly have.
Morrison has published many successful books. One of her stories that became a huge success was
Beloved. Beloved tells the true story of a runaway slave that killed her infant to save her from a life of
slavery (Benson, Brannon, and Valentine). Beloved has been described as a brutally powerful,
mesmerizing story about the inescapable, excruciating legacy of slavery ( Toni Morrison. UXL).
Beloved was easily one of Morrison s best books.
Beloved received many mixed reviews. A large group of African American writers

The Importance Of Reconstruction After The Civil War
America has gone through many different struggles and positive changes. There have been so many
different revolutionary moments in America. One of these revolutionary moments was Reconstruction
after the civil war. Reconstruction had different periods such as Emancipation and Reconstruction,
Presidential Reconstruction, Radical Reconstruction, and the Compromise of 1877. The period of
Reconstruction had many goals and accomplishments. Reconstruction did come to an end and just like
most revolutionary moments in history Reconstruction was labeled both a success and a failure.
Though human equality was the main goal of the Reconstruction period in the South after the Civil
War, it proved to be an attempted compromise that actually created more conflicts. Emancipation and
Reconstruction was a time period where slavery was trying to come to an end. At the outset of the
Civil War, to the dismay of the more radical abolitionists in the North, President Abraham Lincoln did
not make the abolition of slavery a goal of the Union war effort ( Reconstruction. History.com).
Lincoln did not believe slavery was morally wrong, though he did believe in the phrase All men are
created equal. This did not mean he thought blacks and whites should have the same political and
social standings. Lincoln created the Emancipation Proclamation, which was signed January 1st, 1863
because he did not want any state to rebel against the Union, so Lincoln said he would emancipate all
slaves if these

Chemical Oxygen Demand
Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater 5210 BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN
DEMAND (BOD)*#(1) 5220 CHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND (COD)*#(2) 5220 A. Introduction
Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is defined as the amount of a specified oxidant that reacts with the
sample under controlled conditions. The quantity of oxidant consumed is expressed in terms of its
oxygen equivalence. Because of its unique chemical properties, the dichromate ion (Cr2O72 ) is the
specified oxidant in Methods Section 5220B, Section 5220C, and Section 5220D; it is reduced to the
chromic ion (Cr3+) in these tests. Both organic and inorganic components of a sample are subject to
oxidation, but in most cases the organic component predominates and is ... Show more content on

Do not use the test for samples containing more than 2000 mg Cl /L. Techniques designed to measure
COD in saline waters are available.1,2 Halide interferences may be removed by precipitation with
silver ion and filtration before digestion. This approach may introduce substantial errors due to the
occlusion and carrydown of COD matter from heterogenous samples. Ammonia and its derivatives, in
the waste or generated from nitrogen containing organic matter, are not oxidized. However, elemental
chlorine reacts with these compounds. Hence, corrections for chloride interferences are difficult.
Nitrite (NO2 ) exerts a COD of 1.1 mg O2/mg NO2 N. Because concentrations of NO2 in waters
rarely exceed 1 or 2 mg NO2 N/L, the interference is considered insignificant and usually is ignored.
To eliminate a significant interference due to NO2 , add 10 mg sulfamic acid for each mg NO2 N
present in the sample volume used; add the same amount of sulfamic acid to the reflux vessel
containing the distilled water blank. Reduced inorganic species such as ferrous iron, sulfide,
manganous manganese, etc., are oxidized quantitatively under the test conditions. For samples
containing significant levels of these species, stoichiometric oxidation can be assumed from known
initial concentration of the interfering species and

Fugacious Relationships and Everlasting Memories in Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet IV
Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet IV follows many of the conventions of the traditional Petrarchan
sonnet. It follows the traditional rhyming scheme and octet, sestet structure. However it challenges the
conventions of the typical subject of the Italian sonnet, unrequited love. In the octet at the beginning
of the poem Millay uses images that give a sense of transience and in the ending sestet of the sonnet
she contrasts the sense of impermanence given earlier with the idea that the speaker cannot forget the
smiles and words of their ex lover. This contrast between permanence and transience illustrates Millay
s interest in a fugacious relationship with everlasting memories. After further analysis of Millay s
highly structured rhyming scheme which puts emphasis on the last words of each line. She uses these
words to further express her interest in exploring impermanent relationships by using words that are
associated with an end or death.
Millay expresses her interest in a fugacious relationship by using transient images. The first image she
uses is this cigarette is ended, (1). When a cigarette is smoked it slowly shrinks until its short life is
ended. She gives the reader this image to draw a connection between the short life of a cigarette and a
short lived relationship experienced by the speaker. Just as a cigarette gives

The Olympics And Olympic Games Essay
The Olympics are a symbol of celebration of the entire world coming together in one city to celebrate
sportsmanship and athleticism. However, one very important question has been raised, especially in
the new era of being aware of our global impact: how sustainable are the Olympics? Pulling from the
system thinking from Meadows, the purpose of the Olympics is to unify the world and celebrate hard
work and dedication. The amount of people that come to the city for the Olympics and the facilities
that are built for the events are two elements of that system. Lastly, two interconnections are how the
facilities can help the city during the Olympics and the future; and how the people can create a new
city based on new sustainability ideals. The Olympics is not a sustainable practice itself, however the
International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Movement implement guidelines so the games can
be as sustainable as possible. The Olympic Games are not a sustainable practice because of the
amount of changes a city has to make in order to host them. The Olympics brings in many different
people from around the world. Approximately 10,000 athletes participate with at least on coach to
accompany them; 45,000 people volunteer their time to run the games; and there is a tourist influx
much greater than usual (Focus: Rio 2016 Sustainability, 3). This amount of people coming to the city
is much greater to a normal population when the games are not in session. With all these new people,

Cultural Heritage And Cultural Culture
Cultural heritage is a testimony to reflect the distinctiveness of a place made by human (English
Heritage, 2009; United Nations of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage
Centre [WHC], 2008). According to Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (n.d.), Macau has a wealth of
cultural heritage which illustrates the interchange between China and the West such as knowledge,
religions, and social trends. Thus, Macau is listed as Historic Centre of Macau in the World Heritage
List since there is a significant number of cultural heritage built in western style as well as local style
in China. (Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, n.d.). In 2014, tourist arrival amounts to 31,525,632 and
total spending of visitors is MOP 61.75 billion (Documentation and Information Centre of Statistics
and Census Service, 2015). As a result, cultural tourism promotes the growth of the economy as the
well as the living environment. Therefore, the essay examines the importance of place identity in
heritage conservation and some benefits of cultural tourism. Then, it reflects some challenges in the
sustainability of heritage management. Finally, it explains how community engagement contributes
the viability of heritage conservation. Heritage conservation illustrates the place diversity of the place
which convinces the community to recognise their place identity. According to the World Heritage
Centre (2008), the preservation of heritage inspires people with creativity as well as innovation.

Dbq New Imperialism Essay
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the new imperialism in europe increased. The new
imperialism characterizes a period of colonial expansion by european powers, the united states and
japan. Europeans began colonizing africa and asia and used military force to take over local
governments which led to the new imperialism. The new imperialism was led by many reasons such
as economics, politics, and social forces. Economics had a important role to the new imperialism.
There were many economic factors that affected this period. An economic factor was having colonies
which made it easier for countries to protect their merchant marine and their world trade. As american
senator A.J beveridge (document 2) stated the trading of the world must and shall be ours... we will
establish trading posts throughout the world as disturbing points for american products. We will cover
the ocean with our merchant marines. We will build a navy to the measure of our greatness... .
America was creating colonies and was becoming imperialistic. Also introducing ruthlessness in the

replace the failing fixed assets. New or well maintained fixed assets would increase productivity and
result in reduced downtime and costly repairs. In addition, the net profit, plant equipment ratio, gross
profit margin and operating expense ratio would all increase to at or above industry standards. The
direct result of their effort would be seen in the increase net profit margin. Funding for the hardware

Why Summer is my Favorite Season of the Year Essay
My favorite season of the year is summer because of the warm weather, the school vacation, and the
endless fun. I really enjoy the warm weather because it s the perfect atmosphere to do outdoor
activities. My favorite part about summer has to be the fact that school is closed for two months.
During summer, you re free to do whatever you want, not worrying about curfew or waking up early
for school. Summer time is a great time to relax with friends and family by soaking up the sun at a
beach or simply having dinner together. I love the hot and humid days that makes you want to dive
into a fresh and cold pool. When summer time starts, you can wear lighter clothes, which are much

The break calls for staying up late and waking up whenever you want to. Everyone works so hard
during the school year, so they deserve that free time. Summer times are stress free, relaxing, and
basically fun. You don t have to worry about homework, projects, and studying for a test. One of my
favorite summer pastimes is staying up late watching movies and eating junk food, and then waking
up late and having brunch. Summer season is the best time for festivals and activities. You can never
get bored on a summer day or night. During the day, there are fun activities such as: swimming,
sports, picnics, and barbeques. Friends and family spend a lot of time together during the summer
time. There is a lot of good food, drinks, and fun music. Everyone is laughing and having a good time.
Summer evenings are the best time for concerts, movies, parties, and relaxing with friends. The
summer evenings are beautiful because of the sparkly and glittery city lights. One of the best events of
the year, July Fourth, happens during summer. The celebration of July fourth is very extravagant and
glamorous. People gather around to celebrate and watch the display of fireworks. The vibrant colors
and the loud sound of the fireworks are amazing. Overall, summer is just a wonderful season with so
much to offer. The best thing about this time of the year is that everyone is so happy, whereas,

Open Court Observation On Criminal Cases
I chose to do my open court observation on criminal cases. Criminal cases usually involve attorneys
that try to prove their argument to the judge. I felt as though this setting would be more interesting to
sit and observe versus a civil case where you have two people trying to settle a dispute. Its interesting
to see how actual attorneys and judges act in a courtroom instead of what is portrayed on TV. My local
courthouse which is in a police station holds preliminary hearings. A preliminary hearing is where the
judge decides if there is enough evidence that there was a crime committed and you committed a
crime. If the prosecutor fails to do this, then some or all the charges filed against you can be
dismissed. There was two different parts to this process that I saw during my observation. The first
one is when the defendant waives their hearing. Then the second being where the defendant decides to
go through with the hearing. During my observation there was about ten cases, and all but two of them
followed through with the hearing. This was very surprising to me as I watched because I couldn t
understand why someone wouldn t want to at least see if the prosecution had sufficient evidence
against them. Also it doesn t even give their lawyer a chance to argue on their behalf against the
prosecution. The first formal person to walk into the courtroom was the public defender. I watched as
he called out names, and spoke briefly to nearly every person in the room. My immediate

Becoming A Saint Research Paper
The process of becoming a saint is a prolonged one, it can take up to five years just to earn the title,
Saint . But if there is someone there who wants to be a saint, I will be telling you the step by step on
how you can earn this title. The first step is to die, as we believe that Saints are in heaven with God.
This means at some point after thier death, word of mouth from someone who knew the potential
saint, or a member of the religous community asks their local bishop to begin the cause for
canonization. As soon as the bishop agrees, the potential Saint receives the title, Servant Of God.
Next, a formal review is undertaken, guided by historians and theologians; the bishop may decide to
send the cause to Rome, at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. This department determines if
the potential saint has shown heroic sanctity in their lifetime, worthy of imitation. To illustrate my
point, did they live a life marked by virtuous actions? Did they do good works out of love of God and

instantaneous, lasting, and unexplainable. An example of verifying this criteria, is doctors and

Sketches from the Life of a Free Black
Our Nig; or, Sketches from the Life of a Free Black was originally published in Boston in 1859 by G.
C. Rand Avery. This autobiography was written by Harriet E. Wilson, who lived the life told in this
novel apart from some minor fictionalized parts. Her story was not widely known to most due to it
speaking bad about the North and how they were against slavery but kept indentured servants. This
novel was discovered by an African American scholar, Henry Louis Gates Jr., who was researching
African American authors and their novels. He had it re published in 1983 by Random House, Inc. in
New York, and deemed it as the first African American novel published in the United States.
This autobiography is about a young girl named Frado, who was born free but when her mother Mag

Emily Dickinson Syntax
Poetry is a mirror which makes beautiful that which is distorted. Percy Shelley, an English poet
(brainyquote.org). If anyone can make the distorted subject of death beautiful, it is Emily Dickinson.
One of America s greatest poets of all time, Dickinson makes depressing topics into works of art. Her
poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died is one of Dickinson s many poems that embraces the topic of
death. This poem describes the stillness of the atmosphere at the moment someone dies, but with an
interesting twist; a fly interrupts the solemn scene of people standing around the dying person. Just
when the moment seems calm and peaceful, the fly intrudes in the room as the speaker slips away.

Dickinson uses similes and onomatopoeia to present the two opposing subjects in the poem. For
example, lines two, three, and four of the first stanza contain a simile comparing the stillness of the

like the Stillness in the Air Between the Heaves of Storm (Dickinson). By comparing the room to the
breaks between a storm, it creates in the poem a heavy and thick atmosphere, building tension as if
something was about to happen. In contrast, the use of onomatopoeia in the poem interrupts the
stillness of the room with a buzzing fly. In the first line of the fourth stanza it says, With Blue

The Taranaki War Was A War
The Taranaki war was a war that began in March 17 1860 and ended a year later, between the British

British powers in orchestrating the war were to destroy the resistance of land grabbing in Taranaki

they purchased from a lower member of the tribe Te Ati Awa Te Teira that lived on that land, because
it was in Wiremu Kingi s interests as supreme Te Ati Awa chief to keep all the land proclaimed under

to claim land they believe they bought justifiably. After years of conflict, an even 200+

With my goal to learn as much as possible under Dr. Nolan Kane, the Professional Investigator of the Cannabis Genomic Research Initiative (CGRI), I have expanded my traditional bench lab experience to bioinformatics, hemp breeding, and leading designing and performing my own project examining differential protein expression in Cannabis. Although I am deeply fascinated by a four letter code that encodes the human body, I am also providing myself the freedom within my research to learn about other organisms and genetic diseases that I hope to treat within my career. My longest ongoing project began in October 2014 under the guidance of Dr. Daniela Vergara, a post doctoral researcher of the CGRI, who helped another undergraduate student and I begin to troubleshoot a protocol for a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The goal of this experiment was to analyze variation between strains of Cannabis in a region of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Synthase Gene that was amplified by another research team s primer set. The published protocol was originally unsuccessful when attempting to be reproduced. • 9. Social Control Theory Of White Collar Crime Many Criminologists have studied different theories to explain the reason behind the commission of white collar crimes. Many of the current studies focus on a wide range of factors, rather than on few factors, to explain why people commit white collar crimes in modern society. Sutherland theorized that white collar crimes and conventional crimes were similar enough to focus on poverty and social pathologies as the base reasoning for committing each type of crime (Friedrichs, 2014). However, many of the people who commit white collar crimes do not live in poverty, and generally respected in their field of expertise. The social control theory does not focus on why a person commits a crime, but rather why a person does not commit a crime. In this theory, people with strong values show restraint from committing crimes because it goes against their nature. They exercise self restraint when confronted with the numerous opportunities to commit crimes in society, whereas criminals commit crimes because they do not have connections to society or institutions that hold morals in high regard. However, this theory is flawed in that some perpetrators of white collar crimes are well connected to the corporations and people who they commit crimes against and are less likely to reveal that they have committed the crimes. Likewise, the control balance theory states that an imbalance between one s control over another entity and the control held by an entity over that person will influence the likelihood that they will commit a crime. However, this theory works well when applied to conventional crimes, but is still developing in relation to white collar crime. A relatively new theory into white collar crime focuses on the gender of the offender, as the context of the crime is often lost when applying general theories against female culprits (Holtfreter, 2015). Consequently, female offenders tend to commit white collar crimes for different reasons then their male counterparts. Men may commit the crimes to enrich themselves or to punish the ... This game has been of great interest to mathematicians around the world since its introduction, including Martin Gardner who explores it in chapter eight of his first Scientific American Book of Mathematical Puzzles and Games (1959). The game is normally played on a board of 11x11 hexagons with two edges labelled black and the other two labelled white. It is a two person game in which both players (using black and white counters) attempt to create a chain connecting both of their respective sides of the board. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This knowledge will hopefully allow the player to place ladder escapes (discussed later in the chapter), which will more often than not result in winning positions for the attacking player. The most common ladder formation, the bottleneck, is one that all players should familiarize themselves with. This occurs when there is a gap in between two defensive counters, and the attacking player must place a counter in that gap, which ultimately forces a ladder like the one depicted in figure one on the left. At this point, it would be wise to place an escape in the third row, to the left of where the ladder is about to form. The reasoning behind this is that the defending player now has to deal with a ladder escape and a possible connection to counters at the top of the board in C2, D3, and E4. All things considered, an ideal placement for the ladder escape would be C9. Figure two shows the placement of the red counter on C9 and the computer s response in A10. Can you now determine a placement that would secure a win for the red player? Ladder escapes, as hinted to in the previous two paragraphs, are of vital importance with regards to ladders and the successful formation of a connection to the edge. Without the use of them, ladders would continue to extend until reaching an edge and ultimately a victory for the player on the defensive side of the ladder. The reason trees were choosen was their cellulose content. Cellulose is actually the stuff out of which paper is formed. All plant matter has cellulose fiber. Some more so than others. Trees have a lot of cellulose. Why Cellulose? Cunously, the answer lies in the molecular structure of cellulose and water. It is a very interesting story that borders on magic and wizardry. Water molecules have one large proton and two little electrons. You could think of an image like a Mickey Mouse head with two ears and you will have an image of a water molecule. Water molecule electrons have the habit of chaining together on the surface of water, which causes an effect called surface tension. You could imagine a series of Mickey Mouse heads joined together at their ears and you will have a picture of how this works. This chaining process is the key to making paper. Ammonia and its derivatives, in the waste or generated from nitrogen containing organic matter, are not oxidized. However, elemental chlorine reacts with these compounds. Hence, corrections for chloride interferences are difficult. Nitrite (NO2 ) exerts a COD of 1.1 mg O2/mg NO2 N. It follows the traditional rhyming scheme and octet, sestet structure. However it challenges the conventions of the typical subject of the Italian sonnet, unrequited love. In the octet at the beginning of the poem Millay uses images that give a sense of transience and in the ending sestet of the sonnet she contrasts the sense of impermanence given earlier with the idea that the speaker cannot forget the smiles and words of their ex lover. This contrast between permanence and transience illustrates Millay s interest in a fugacious relationship with everlasting memories. After further analysis of Millay s highly structured rhyming scheme which puts emphasis on the last words of each line. She uses these words to further express her interest in exploring impermanent relationships by using words that are associated with an end or death. Millay expresses her interest in a fugacious relationship by using transient images. The first image she uses is this cigarette is ended, (1). However, one very important question has been raised, especially in the new era of being aware of our global impact: how sustainable are the Olympics? Pulling from the system thinking from Meadows, the purpose of the Olympics is to unify the world and celebrate hard work and dedication. The amount of people that come to the city for the Olympics and the facilities that are built for the events are two elements of that system. Lastly, two interconnections are how the facilities can help the city during the Olympics and the future; and how the people can create a new city based on new sustainability ideals. The Olympics is not a sustainable practice itself, however the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Movement implement guidelines so the games can be as sustainable as possible. The Olympic Games are not a sustainable practice because of the amount of changes a city has to make in order to host them. The Olympics brings in many different people from around the world. I felt as though this setting would be more interesting to sit and observe versus a civil case where you have two people trying to settle a dispute. Its interesting to see how actual attorneys and judges act in a courtroom instead of what is portrayed on TV. My local courthouse which is in a police station holds preliminary hearings. A preliminary hearing is where the judge decides if there is enough evidence that there was a crime committed and you committed a crime. If the prosecutor fails to do this, then some or all the charges filed against you can be dismissed. There was two different parts to this process that I saw during my observation. The first one is when the defendant waives their hearing. Then the second being where the defendant decides to go through with the hearing. During my observation there was about ten cases, and all but two of them followed through with the hearing. This was very surprising to me as I watched because I couldn t understand why someone wouldn t want to at least see if the prosecution had sufficient evidence against them. Also it doesn t even give their lawyer a chance to argue on their behalf against the prosecution. The first formal person to walk into the courtroom was the public defender. I watched as he called out names, and spoke briefly to nearly every person in the room. My immediate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But if there is someone there who wants to be a saint, I will be telling you the step by step on how you can earn this title. The first step is to die, as we believe that Saints are in heaven with God. This means at some point after thier death, word of mouth from someone who knew the potential saint, or a member of the religous community asks their local bishop to begin the cause for canonization. As soon as the bishop agrees, the potential Saint receives the title, Servant Of God. Next, a formal review is undertaken, guided by historians and theologians; the bishop may decide to send the cause to Rome, at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. This department determines if the potential saint has shown heroic sanctity in their lifetime, worthy of imitation. To illustrate my point, did they live a life marked by virtuous actions? Reconciliation Between Trauma And Healing And Reconciliation Many scholars insist on that fact that when it comes to peace building healing and need to go together, especially when the groups that have engaged in violence against each other continue to live together. There is an interactive linkage between trauma healing and reconciliation. The beginning of healing is generally considered to enhance the possibility of reconciliation, while reconciliation furthers the possibility of healing. The processes of reconciliation and healing actually appear to be cyclical and reinforce each other, from one generation to the next, ultimately contributing to the prevention of future violence. First, reconciliation processes can be demanding both cognitively and emotionally. Hence, it is important that immediate emotional needs are attended to. In the words of Hizkias Assefa, Individuals need to heal from wounds that result from being harmed, but also from having harmed others, or being a member of a group that has harmed others. In Assefa s study in order for reconciliation to take place, perpetrators and members of the perpetrator group who may not have engaged in violence also need to heal. However as reconciliation begins, it can, in turns, contribute to the healing process for survivors. There are several mechanisms that lead to great outcomes. First, the reconciliation process generally increases the feeling of security, which facilitates further healing easier. Reconciliation activities may also help make sense of injuries and ...
