Conversion Of 2d Image Into 3d Image Using Segmentation
Conversion of 2D Image into 3D Image Using Segmentation

Abstract Image captured by two dimensional camera contains no depth information. However depth
information is needed in many applications, for example in robotic vision, satellite imaging and
target tracking. To extract depth information from images Stereo matching is used. The main aim
of our project is to use stereo matching algorithms to plot the disparity map of segmented images
which gives the depth information details. Particle Swarm Optimization and K means algorithms are
used for image segmentation. Our main objective is to implement stereo matching algorithms on
the segmented images, compare the results of K means and PSO on the basis of objective
parameters such as PSNR, execution time, density of disparity map and compression ratio and
perform subjective analysis of reconstructed 3 D images. The compared results show that the
Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm gives better 3 D reconstructed image.

I. INTRODUCTION People can see the depth of the objects because they see the 3D world from
two moderately dissimilar angles (one from right eye and other from left eye). Our brains then
figure out how close things are by determining how far apart they are in the two images from our
eyes. Our objective here is to do the similar thing using a computer. Initially a

America As A Melting Pot
As soon as someone calls the United States a melting pot, I immediately picture the School House
Rock music video in which hundreds of happy immigrants dive into the pot to swim together in
harmony. The idea of America as a melting pot is, on the surface, a good intentioned metaphor that
carries with it the implication of our unity within one, uniquely American culture. Unfortunately,
this metaphor carries negative connotations as well, including forced assimilation into the majority
as you melt away into the mix. Imagine five pieces of chocolate, one white, added to a heated
saucepan; eventually, it all turns brown. Despite the multiplicity of cultures added to this melting
pot, something is lost in the final product: diversity. In a melting pot, it is suggested that we blend
together; we are indistinct; we are Americans united in one culture, one language, one creed.
Simply stated, this is not an accurate representation of our country s culture or its citizens. I find
the stew to be a much more appropriate metaphor. Even when heated and stirred, a stew maintains
its individual elements (potatoes, beef, onions, carrots, celery, etc.), but also allows for some
transfer of flavors. The beef flavor is infused with notes of carrot and onion; the carrots have the
added flavors of the broth and beef. The stew continues to have unique, individual elements, but it
tastes better in tangent with other flavors. This is a more fitting description of America, as citizens

Examples Of Absolute Certainty
Developing an absolute sense of certainty can be good, but it can also be bad. There have been
some instances where people who had absolute certainty met their downfall. Having some doubt
is good. If you have doubt on a an assignment, you can go back and revise it. In a way it s like a
stop sign. Doubt allows you to stop and analyze before going. Although being absolutely certain is
good, it can make you over look mistakes, get your hopes up, and speculation occurs. There have
been many instances where mistakes were overlooked because of absolute certainty. For example,
the RMS Titanic. At the time it was the largest ship in the world and unsinkable. An absolute
masterpiece and everyone thought it was indestructible. Engineers were positive that there wasn t a
single thing wrong with her. Until it and thousands of passengers met their demise once the ship hit
an iceberg. Had the engineers and other workers triple checked the shop, the sinking may not have
happened. It currently lays at the bottom of the Atlantic wishing people took the initiative to give
her a proper inspection. This may have been an over exaggerated example, but they put a hundred
percent of their trust into to that ship.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, it happens all the time. The 2016 election is a recent example. Many Americans believed
that the next in line president would do great for this country. Many also thought Donald Trump
wouldn t become the president of the United States. Well, many Americans were wrong and the
country erupted into chaos. The people were so sure America would take a as step into the right
direction, but it seems like it s only brought us backwards. There has been so much certainty that
some people even voted for third parties, this shows that hopes were too high and mistakes were

The First Source By Qui Jin
Both primary sources being compared come from Chapter 18 in Worlds Together, Worlds apart.
The first source was written by Qui Jin, an early twentieth century Chinese feminist. In her essay
titled An Address to Two Hundred Million Fellow Country Women, she details the injustices to
Chinese women in this period. Jin also connects the fate of the Country to chinese women s
futures. By doing so she puts a nationalist view into her essay. The other source is another feminist
piece; this time coming from Bahithat al Badiya, where she criticizes Egypt s religious traditions
in effect to women s freedom. Both women show some of the feminist ideas that were circling
society at the beginning of the twentieth century. Throughout the turn of the century worldwide
insecurities were rampant. Although modernism was Another insecurity would be the changing of
roles for women in a society that was already losing many social constructs due to the rising
popularity of modernist views. However, with decreasing economies and job loss, people start
turning on their governments, and trying to revert to older more traditional ways. Modern views
were starting to be rejected by many, and the growing anxieties of modern women fed to the views
that change is for the worst. Both these women s radical views represented the desire for new
identities. A common desire for the time, as people grew dissatisfied with their governments and
wanted reform. Although a small group, Chinese feminists were

Brain-Computer and Brain-Machine Interfaces Applied to the...
Over the years, brain computer interfaces (BCIs), or brain machine interfaces (BMIs), have
advanced into a technology that can be regularly be applied to the medical field. BCIs have been
used for rehabilitative purposes, such as patients suffering from loss of speech and motor
functions. Every year, approximately 795,000 people suffer a stroke. Out of these people,
600,000 of these are first attacks and 185,000 are recurrent attacks [9]. Stroke patients often
suffer from paralysis and loss of speech. The use of BCIs can be highly beneficial to these
patients, as well as to patients suffering from other diseases and traumatic injuries that result in
loss of speech and motor function. Besides this, BCIs can also be useful in other areas of the
medical field besides rehabilitative purposes. This technology, which was once only seen science
fiction books and movies, is now becoming a realistic approach to treating patients. A BCI allows
control of computers with the regulation of the patient s brainactivity alone. There are invasive
BCIs that are primarily used in animal models where electrodes are implanted into the brain tissue,
and noninvasive BCIs that use EEG recordings in humans. Much research has been done on using
BCIs for stroke patients who suffer from paralysis and loss of motor function. The goal is to use
BCIs to help these patients recover communication and motor function again. Over the years, much
research has been conducted on patients who cannot communicate

Summary Of The Shadow Of Man
Goodall, J. (1971). In the Shadow of Man. Boston: Houghton Mifflin. The author s goal in
writing this book is to discuss her experiences and what she had learned from studying wild
Chimpanzees. Goodall wrote this book in order to convey her knowledge of a species of animal
she loves very much, so that others may become educated and join her in protecting them. She
dreamed of going to Africa to see them, and was offered a job by Dr. Lewis Leakey. Goodall wanted
nothing more than a chance to help. Her experiences in surrounding herself with them have
completely changed the way scientists conduct field research. Whether she intended to or not, the
data she has collected has debunked myths and uncovered truths about chimpanzees, while bringing
more light to humanbehavior.
Brief Summary
The book begins with Goodall in Africa, high up on steep mountains over six months into her trip
to Gombe Stream Research Centre. She then flashbacks, and tells the whole story of how she got
there. It begins when she was a child, and her mother bought her a stuffed Chimpanzee named
Jubilee. Her love grew until she was able to finally visit Africa by staying with a friend. There
she met Dr. Leakey, who at the time was a very famous anthropologist and paleontologist. He
hired her to study the chimpanzees and sent her to Gombe. There she follows a group of chimps,
and tells the stories of how she became a part of their life. She names them all, and follows them
for years. During this time she

Roger And Me
Post Industrialization: an attack on the individual
Roger Me (1989) by the famous activist documentary film maker Michael Moore explores the
themes of post industrialism in his home town of Flint, Michigan while trying to track down Roger
Smith the GM of General Motors who began shutting down Flint auto plants in 1985, eliminating
over 30,000 jobs. Within the post industrial theme, the film explores several key ideas that tie
neatly into the concept of the attack on the individual. The key ideas are found in Flint s crime
escalation post factory shutdowns, the trend of the wealthy distancing themselves from the masses,
and finally the relocation of factories and mechanization of labor. The film Roger Meencapsulates
how profit driven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1980s and 1990s, the construction of new prisons jumped from 16 new prisons a year
to 245 in rural and small town communities across the United States (Huling, 198). The rise
accommodate the increasing number of individuals caught in the vast War on Drugs net. The core
piece here is that Flint workers were incarcerating their former automobile factory co workers.
Sold on the idea that prison jobs were family sustaining ones (Che, 814), i.e. good benefits and a
pension, not unlike the once stable auto manufacturing jobs Flint used to have (Often the jobs
were not as good or as entry level as advertised). Now the only solution to unemployment was
essentially incarcerating friends. Incarceration is dehumanizing; it is turning individuals into
capital to fill the beds of private prisons. It is rather ironic that Flint auto mobile workers, who built
cars that seemingly liberated individuals from geography and the urban degradation, were now
locking up and cutting away the other s freedoms. And at the same time, prisons helped to distance
the wealthy from the poor and black inner city masses.
The creation of private spaces illuminated class inequality. Moore s major mission of the film was
to track down General Motor s GM Roger Smith and convince him to come to Flint, Michigan to
see the damage his factory shutdowns created. Throughout the trek, Moore visits country and
athletic clubs, the GM headquarters, Holiday conventions, and a Great Gatsby themed party to talk
to Smith. At each venue, Moore s status as included or excluded was quite obvious. There were
guards that kept him from meeting or even making an appointment with Roger Smith. The private
clubs were hardly accessible to

Lindsay Lohan. Britney Spears. Winona Ryder. Farrah Fawcett. The preceding list of people all
have a few things in common. Most noticeable is the fact that they are all contemporary
celebrities and women. However, these celebrities share another common trait that will be of
much more relevance in the discussion that will follow: they have all been given the label of
kleptomaniac at one point or another in the public eye due to being caught shoplifting at least
once. To be fair, diagnoses made by tabloids and the media are of much less substance than medical
diagnosis. It is plausible that one or more of the celebrities mentioned above who were caught

There is a case of a man who would not eat unless his food was stolen, so a servant would take
pains to hide the man s food in such a manner that the man could steal it and eat rather than die
from starvation. One woman was so afflicted with the compulsion to steal that she would not
hesitate in stealing offerings and tithes from church baskets at the altar. An otherwise upstanding
woman was such a helpless thief that she would steal bread from her friends dinner table if there
was nothing else more valuable to be had. There is even record of a clergyman whose
kleptomania was so notorious that the Church eventually had to cut ties with him. A British lady,
presumably of high society, was prosecuted for stealing handkerchiefs from a clothing store; the
Times which reported on the case insinuated that recurrent and compulsive theft of cheap items
from shops is quite common among the ladies of high society in London. This behavior was so
well known that family members arranged a well coordinated effort with drivers and shopkeepers
to keep tabs on their thieving ladies and to make sure that the shopkeepers got reimbursed.
Sometimes the thief herself would be the one writing the check that the shopkeepers would
inevitably send to their home. One of the causes of kleptomania appears to be general insanity. The
behavior is so compulsive, that people who are otherwise upstanding and moral in

Argumentative Essay On Abortion
In medicine, abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal
membranes, and placenta) from the uterus. It is the loss of a pregnancy and does not refer to why
the pregnancy was lost (https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=2091).
Abortion is a very contentious issue and the attitude towards it has always been and is still very
controversial. It has caused uncounted deaths and violent confrontations between the supporters of
the two separate parties. Pro life supporters advocate that everyone has the right to life, even Fetus,
and Pro choice supporters argue that the right to abortionis absolute. In Abortion, No more
Apologies, Katha Pollitt states abortion as a normal part of a woman s reproductive life, one that
should be accepted as a moral right and a fundamental choice with positive social implications. In
this article, Pollitt takes on the personhood argument by reaffirming the personal right and choice
of a woman to control her own body. She talked about how the abortion subject has always been in
the shadow. She gave the example of her mother that had an abortion but never told her about it,
and she only knew about from some papers after her mother s death. Nobody knew about the
abortion that her mom had, not even her mom s best friend. She pointed to the psychological and
even physiological dangers of unwanted pregnancies that necessitate the legalization of abortion.
An unintended pregnancyis so stressful for women, as is the process of making a decision
regarding its outcome. The fear that accompanies the idea of abortion or the complications that
might occur after the procedures, are considered as major negative effects on women s health.
She heartedly defended abortion as a right similar to education. A woman who can choose her
major and her career can make her own decision about keeping her pregnancy or not. To
criminalize abortion is to go back to where we were in the 50 s, to the tremendous amount of
illegal abortions, which was extremely dangerous. She aimed in her comparison between women in
the past and currently, to explain how legalization of abortion changed how women are seeing
themselves now: mothers by choice, not by

If We Must Die
The pen is mightier than the sword, Claude McKay s poem is proof that this saying has some
authenticity to it. This saying was first documented in 1839 by a man named Edward Bulwer
Lytton during one of his most historical plays Cardinal Richelieu. The saying means that you
could accomplish more by communicating and using your words. McKay lived in the U.S.
around the time that racism was at its highest point, and the Ku Klux Klan was out committing
hate crimes. I ll explain McKay s poems purpose, then I ll discuss its meaning and effect, and
finally I ll talk about whether or not this poem was a rebellious act. To begin with, its important to
understand the setting in which this poem was created. The time period was 1919, some time after
slaves were freed and allowed to live among the whites in the United States. However not everyone
agreed with this, so people started mistreating the colored people... Show more content on

Everyday when you read the colored newspaper you always seen something horrible. Everyone
knew that the situation was bad but everyone was scared as well. McKay begins with If we must
die let it not be like hogs, this is important and was very strong to them because it had a lot of
meaning. It showed that they were being treated and slaughtered like animals and seen as less
than a person. Another powerful thing he said was If we must die oh, let us nobly die. This is
important because it would give people dignity and show that their life has meaning just like the
rest, and that they are people just like the white men. This put many to tears and enraged others
just because of how true it was. Colored people weren t the only ones who felt something for the
poem, in fact McKay got it published by a white man named Max Eastman. His poem was so good
that he actually had upset another author, Frank Harris, because he wasn t the one who got to publish

Sensitivity analysis
Sensitivity analysis can be accepted by a project manager to fix the risk that has the most
important influence on the positive completion of a project. It examines and assesses the
uncertainly of each project element by looking at all the risk that needs to be dealt with
properly to make sure the of an accurate and safely completion of a project. Expected financial
value analysis is there for calculating the average outcome of a project and is evaluated by
increasing the value of each outcome by its likelihood of occurrence. Another thing that can be
done is to perform a detailed task analysis of the work to be done, and the use of complexity
factors as multipliers to figure out whether a project is complex then the last one. With previous

Dashboard based software requires little training to implement. Simple to use and easy to install,

Management Software
Though there are clearly many good reasons to utilize project management software, there are also
disadvantages to consider:
Some programs can be very costly with very little ROI. While project management software can
provide great solutions, many times those solutions need to be custom designed or solved by
purchasing multiple software programs. These can be costly options and can be difficult to
implement.
Project management software may complicate simple projects. While using project management
software is a popular option for many organizations, simpler projects may not need project
management software. When project management software is used inappropriately it can
unnecessarily complicate matters.

Chaos In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Many people go through different chaotic experiences in their lives, however, how one decides to
restore order to their chaos, is most important. In William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s
Dream, due to simultaneous appearances of chaos throughout the play, it leaves the audience
speculating about the order yet to come, thus, developing/strengthening the plot of the play. The
various occurrences of order and chaos within the play include the arguments between Titania and
Oberon, the unstable love circle between the four lovers and finally the bizarre relationship between
Titania and Bottom. To begin with, the first occurrence of order and chaos within the play concerns
Oberon and Titania and their quarreling. When the two main powers of the... Show more content on

The last consequence of the fairy world and real world colliding involve Titania and Bottom.
Due to Oberon clouding Titania s vision and Puck turning Bottom into an ass, it mixes together
perfectly, to form a very humorous, yet chaotic situation. This relationship is very important for
the structure of the play due to it being it the base for the entire plot. The whole reason Titania
and Bottom s relationship prevails is that Oberon needs a distraction for her, it would make his
task much easier to acquire the child if Titania was preoccupied. The main plot revolves around
this and soon after, more conflicts follow. This the last conflict that Shakespeare must restore
order to, making it a very important moment. Oberon restores order to the situation after he has
met his goal, saying I will release the fairy queen [Squeezing a herb on Titania s eyes] (IV.i.69),
Titania has no memory of the child or their altercations, therefore their relationship is now as it was
before the child. Soon after, Hippolyta makes a remark indirectly addressing the order and chaos
within the play,

My Dorm Room At The Pennsylvania State University
Staying cool is something we all strive to do when it is too hot, and vice versa when it is too
cold. Being to hot or too cold is an extreme nuisance in every day lives, but I d much rather be too
cold than too hot. It is quite simple to keep warm: either put on more layers of clothing or wrap
yourself in a blanket. To keep cool is another story; one could strip off layers of clothes until they
are naked and have no more layers to go, then they resort to a fan, which in turn is just blowing
more hot air at them. Coming to The Pennsylvania State University I was excited to learn, meet
new people and have fun, and I have been able to do most of those, however, it is sometimes
difficult with the scalding oven that is my dorm room. To help fix the problem that my fellow
students and I are experiencing, I propose that the university either install central air
conditioning in all dorms, or, barring that, install air conditioning units in dorm rooms, in order
to allow students to get more sleep, better grades, and have an overall better and healthier
college experience. Sleeping for as long as you want! Sounds like paradise, but it is quite
unrealistic. Instead I would ask to sleep for as long as I could until my alarm wakes me up for
class. That should not be too much to ask for, nonetheless, it takes great effort on my part to do the
actual sleeping. It is hard enough to go to bed with thoughts of grades and of life little stresses in
general, but is remarkably difficult when

Failure In The Outliers, Gladwell s The Outliers
Mistake; to make a wrong judgment, an action or decision that is wrong or produces a result that
is not correct or not intended. When we were young our parents always told us, it takes a big
person to admit their mistakes . Contrary to this popular statement, what if you never actually
made a mistake in the first place and fate was at fault for your failure? In his novel The Outliers,
Gladwell claims that if you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and
imagination, you can shape the worldto your desires (Gladwell 151). However, I disagree with
this statement because success is rare and no matter how hard you work, you may never change
the world around you. No matter how hard you work, there will be people that drag you down,
circumstances you face, obstacles that stand in your way, and a world that will refuse to change for
you.

Racial profiling is common within the Disney films. Where it is most commonly seen is within
movies where two races are mixing, such as in the movie Pocahontas. Disney is not necessarily
discriminating against a race through film, but Disney is making a point of portraying race and
culture through film incorrectly based on stereotypes. Aladdin is an original Disney movie
which brought racial profiling into question. Simply starting with the names of the characters
brings question about race into view. The two most questioned names were Aladdin and Jafaar,
names which were supposed to symbolize the poor Middle Eastern culture, are names that
originally originate from Russia. Also, since this movie was supposed to be in a Middle Eastern
city, the characters all had a dark complexion. The dark complexion was correct on Disney s
part; however, what was incorrect was that all the facial features were European. By having the
incorrect facial features with the dark skin tone it teaches children that they can sort people by
race solely on a person s skin color. Aladdin was portrayed as simply a white man was a dark tan
(Disney s Protrayal of Culture and Race in Film, 2009). Another Disney film which had racial
profiling in it is The Lion King. In The Lion King, white actors played the voices along with
African American actors. The fact that Disney had an interracial cast was good, but the white
voices played the good guys and the African American voices were

Microfracture Procedure
Background and purpose:
Repetitive overhead athletic activities and age can increase risk for shoulder pathologies to arise.
The microfracture procedure has been used more recently for chondral defects of the glenoid and
humeral head. There is very limited research on the rehabilitation following the microfracture
procedure, and even less in conjunction with other pathological surgical repairs. The purpose of
this case report is to provide details on the rehabilitation of a recreational athlete who underwent a
type II SLAP repair with a microfracture of the central humeral head and glenoid.
Case Description:
The patient was a 41 year old male who failed conservative treatment of a SLAP tear and full
thickness glenoid and humeral head articular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In 1990 the acronym SLAP lesion (Superior Labral Anterior and Posterior) was coined by Synder et

in 1985. 2,3 The prevalence of SLAP lesions in recreational athletic and athletic populations
ranges from 3.9 % 11.8%. 4 Kim, et al noted out of 544 shoulders arthroscopically evaluated, 25%
were diagnosed with a SLAP lesion, and 88%, about 120 subjects, presented with another
pathology.6
A more recent surgical procedure, called a microfracture technique, has become more supported at
the shoulder. 7 At the hip, McCarthy et al found 74% of patients with a labral pathology also had
chondral lesions.18 The microfracture procedure is a technique that pierces subchondral bone to
initiate the body s natural response to injury. Through this, a pathway for cell migration to the
chondral defect is formed where a clot will then become a stable scar of fibrocartilage and
hyaline.19,8 This cartilaginous mixture can be seen as a disadvantage due to less mechanically

INTUITION
Abstract
Intuition has rarely been given the credit it deserves, even when numerous experiments over the
past decades has shown it to be a complex and detailed subconscious process, rather than the
pseudo science many still believe it to be. Despite the success of intuition as a decision maker, the
ideology that we should trust logic first and hunches second often wins out. While intuition has
been known to lead to mistakes, known as Warren Harding Errors, it s often more reliable than
logical, thought out problem solving. Ignorance as to the true nature of intuition has led to a
societal ideology that values the conscious over the subconscious, and regards intuition as a lesser
emotion that isn t to be trusted. However, there is, in fact, science to support the reliability of
intuition. Gut feelings are a result of the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, located directly behind the
nose, which sorts and prioritizes information, and runs all relevant information through the
subconscious, which uses an analyzation of past events and calculates the best course of action.
This process manifests as intuition.

The Pros And Cons Of Human-Wildlife Conflict
General introduction
According to the IUCN World Park Congress (2003), Human Wildlife Conflict (HWC) occurs when
wildlife resource requirements overlap with those of human populations, creating costs both to
communities adjacent to protected areas and the wildlife within them. At present the phenomenon
poses a serious challenge to both the human livelihoods and the flora and fauna globally (Berger
McGraw 2007).
HWC take place in diverse environments and different animal assemblages and countries and this is
increasingly acquiring the attention of ecologist, wildlife biologists, wildlife researchers and wildlife
managers across the globe (Muriuki et al.2017). Even though HWC has an ancient historical
background, its rising harshness and multi faced nature has made it a great global concern to
wildlife management, this is due to number of factors such as, habitat fragmentation, land use
changes, human and wildlife population expansion, competition for resources ... Show more content

2016) and as results retaliatory killings of wildlife species intensify( Broekhuis et al. 2017,Mateo
Tomas et al. 2012), the long term survival of species is at risk. Wildlife population decreases in
areas where there are high human wildlife interactions, in places such as forests, river bank and
grazing areas adjacent to protected areas (Michalski et al 2006; Sladge et al. 2017). On the other
hand this conflict poses a huge challenge in the sustainability of human livelihoods (Gillingham
Lee 2003; Rao et al 2002; Sahoo and Mohnot 2004), along with resultant economic loss from crop
and livestock damages ( Mackenzie and Ahabyona 2012; Schön 2013). The management of HWC
drains the affected countries financially (Lamarque et al. 2009), this calls for better strategic
management plans which are publicly acceptable and will not jeopardize wildlife conservation

My mind is a lot stronger than my body and I can t lie and say that it doesn t bother my state of
mind on most days. I have to fight against the pain that I feel everyday and try not to complain
about it unless it s completely unbearable at that moment. It can take a good thirty minutes to an
hour to get out of bed when I wake up because my limbs might be temporarily paralyzed or my
heart is tachycardic and there s nothing I can do about it. But once I get myself together after I
wake up, I say a prayer, think positive thoughts and go on about my day!
Because my days are so unpredictable, I literally have to take one day at a time. Planning upcoming
days can seem like an impossible feat because I never know how my body will respond. Most
bloggers are great at planning their blog schedules ahead of time and sticking to it. To be honest, I
started to develop blogger envy because I would read posts about how well other bloggers could
stick to their schedule and because of their consistency, their following grew exponentially. I was
struggling with growing my following on social networks because I couldn t be as consistent as
them. That destroyed my inner peace and I never should of let that happen because most of those

Everything You Need to Know About an Automatic Stay
Many things happen after you file for bankruptcy, but one of the first things that occurs is that an
automatic stay goes into effect. An automatic stay may seem a bit scary if you don t know what it
is, but here are the important things you need to know about an automatic stay.
What Is It An Automatic Stay?
An automatic stay is when your creditors are notified you ve filed bankruptcy and they can not
attempt to collect the money owed to them anymore. This is not indefinite pause on your bills, it
simply gives the bankruptcy court time to review your case and decide how much each creditor will
get from your bankruptcy settlement.

History Of Orvillecopter s Animal Cruelty
Flying in the air beside you is a cat, What? A cat, How? Well this is called orvillecopter. This was
made when an artist had a cat named Orville, sadly he died by getting smacked by a car. The
artist had an idea of making a copper out of him. Now from that day forward he has made all
different types of coppers using animals. For me there is one question, is making animals into
copters really just animal cruelty.
Orvillecopter was not always a copter he was an ordinary cat doing ordinary ordianary things like
running away from dogs, trying to get fish from the fish bowl, catching rats or a mouse, you get
the idea. Orville loved to do what cats do. Orville would have liked a peaceful death but he has to

Chapter Eight Of The American Era
Chapter eight speaks of the growth of the American empire , using political manipulation to control
the south. During the reconstruction of the South, many Southerners felt less aided and crippled
further due to taxes, political reformation, and of course the loss of slave labor. In terms of
political corruption, the Southern states were forced back into the union but were denied
representation in the Union, and used political control to rob the states financially. Taking the votes
of the newly freed blacks also created a tension with white and black relations that last to even
today, commonly from the Ku Klux Klan. If anything, the attempt to create stability to the war torn
South ended up making things worse in both the North and South. Chapter nine is discussing how
Lincoln s true legacy is placed, most notably the construction of the American System suggested by
Henry Clay. With his presidency, Lincoln threatens that he will attack any state that fails to collect
enough funds for its protectoral tariffs. Lincoln also issued large sums of money to the construction
of transcontinental railroad lines. Finally, he forced the commission of the much needed national
bank, the backbone of the American System his idol planned out. The tenth chapter speaks of the
attack Lincoln committed on federalism, destroying the right of secession to force the South back
into the Union. It sums up everything Lincoln did; opposed the equality of even free blacks,

Hillbilly Elegy Summary
In the fifth reading assignment of Hillbilly Elegy, the chapters highlight J.D s time in high school,
the Marines, and college.
The start of chapter seven dealt with the death of Papaw. I think this death took a toll on J.D
largely because Papaw was the closest thing to a stable father figure he had. I love the
relationship that Papaw and J.D had, and I m sure it was one that J.D cherishes to this day.
Reading about Papaw s funeral was especially tough for me because I have been exactly where
J.D was in that moment. My grandfather passed away in the summer of 2015, and I also spoke at
his funeral. I was extremely close with my Grandpa, or Papa as I called him, and reading about
J.D s experience brought up some tough feelings for me. I noticed that J.D s mother took the loss of
her father extremely had. She was thrown into a prescription drug induced tailspin. This is yet
another example of the loss of a loved one completely derailing the life of one of their loved ones.
Her story reminded me of Scott from Evicted. This also made me feel for J.D, he had just lost his
beloved grandfather, and now he had to worry about his mother struggling with her addiction.
Later in the chapter, I was happy to read that Lindsay had a great life going for her. She is one of
my favorite characters in this book, and I was joyed to read that she had found a great husband.
I also thought it was completely selfish for J.D s mother to ask him to move to Dayton with her
newest boyfriend. I was also sickened to read that J.D s mother sent him to a therapist just so
she could interrogate him about how he acted towards his mother. I think if J.D saw an actual
therapist, he could have really benefited from it. I also really respected that Lindsay dropped
everything she was doing to go pick up J.D from Dayton. I think this really speaks to their
relationship, and how much she cares for her brother. I was also stunned to read that J.D s mother
agreed to marry a man she had only known for one week. I knew that she had relationship issues,
but this still shocked me. I think J.D eventually became numb to the amount of partners his mother
brought home. The story of J.D s mother begging for his clean urine was extremely sad to me. I

Environmental Factors:
Political factors
An analysis of the hotel industry has revealed that there are environmental, labor, and food safety
regulations as well as regulations for merging, which must be looked at before entering into the
industry.
Hotels could be liable for clean up of contamination and other corrective action under various laws,
ordinances and regulations relating to environmental matters. Such laws referring to keeping the
environment in good shape can be quite costly to hotels in the industry. Another political factor that
can impose a concern for a member in the hotel industry is the laws regarding labor. For instance,
there are laws that govern minimum wage.
Social Cultural Factors
Social cultural factors are a big issue to look into for hotel industry because it deals with a lot of
consumers who have different demographic, ethnic, cultural backgrounds. By satisfying each
consumers or generalizing the way to hospitalize, hotel industry can have chance to expand more.

Muscular System
Introduction: Grass originated around eighty million years ago, but it did not flourish, like the
modern days, until fifteen million years ago. It diffused around the world and has become one of
the most common plants in the world. The uncontrolled growth of grass resulted in oodles of
overgrown grass. A man named Edwin Beard Budding fixed this problem with his invention, the
lawn mower. This machine revolutionized the way grass was cut. All people needed to do is push
this machine over the grass, and it was magically cut. Their body systems were able to make this
process happen.

Then, the sandwich is inserted into the mouth. The teeth chew the sandwich while saliva
chemically breaks down carbs. After that, the sandwich goes down the pharynx and into the
esophagus. The sandwich is pushed into the stomach by peristalsis which is contractions of smooth

proteins. The stomach also churns the things inside of it. After the stomach, the chyme (stomach
contents and food) travels to the small intestine. This is where most of the absorption takes place.
This absorption helps take the sandwiches essential nutrients and put them to use in the body. There
are three main structures that help with digestion in the small intestine. They are the pancreas, the
liver, and the gallbladder. The pancreas regulates blood sugar. The liver secretes bile which helps
digest lipids, and the gallbladder stores the bile. Villi are folds in the small intestine that help
absorb. Then, the chyme travels into the large intestine where water is absorbed. The chyme passes
into the rectum, and it will stay there until he/she will have to go to the bathroom. It will leave the

The Motif Of Entrapment By Edith Wharton
Executive Order 9066, passed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1942, forced all
Japanese Americans to pack up their lives and move to internment camps, a place where they
would live in shabby barracks and get treated unfairly by guards. This order confineded the
American citizens in heinous camps for up to three years. Because of their heritage, which could
be as little as one sixteenth Japanese, the citizens were obligated to move; they became trapped in
these camps where unhappiness was present in every aspect of life. Similarly, in the novel Ethan
Frome, the title character is trapped in his unhappy life due to marriage, family, property, and
financial liabilities. The author, Edith Wharton uses the motif of entrapment to prove how
obligations lead to unhappiness throughout the novel.
Ethan Frome and his wife, Zenobia (Zeena), never really know what true love feels like because
they are both very lonely people. They meet when Zeena is caring for Ethan s mother; due to
their loneliness, they mistake the bizarre feeling of companionship for love. Ethan marries

Essay On Muscle Contraction
The Correlation between Eccentric Strength and Agility in Male Field Sport Athletes.
There are three types of muscle contraction, isotonic, isometric and isokinetic. There are two
isotonic contractions, concentric and eccentric. A concentric contraction is a shortening of the
muscle fibres, an example of this being a bicep curl causing a concentric contraction on the biceps
brachii causing the elbow to flex. An eccentric contraction is the opposite of this. During an
eccentric contraction as the muscle contracts the muscle fibres lengthen. An eccentric contraction is
important in deceleration where the quadriceps lengthen to slow down the limb. This type of
contraction should transfer into agility as athletes with greater eccentric strength ... Show more

Agility has been described as a rapid whole body movement with change of velocity or direction
in response to a stimulus . (Sheppard et al, 2006) This description identifies the inclusion of
cognitive skills in determining agility. This definition applies to open skills only. Open skills
cannot be pre planned, however closed skills, such as sprinting or previously planned changes of
direction, can be planned in advance. This is very important in every field sport as the ability to
react quickly and allow the movements to match these reactions enhances performance. Many field
sports require straight line running speed but more often than not fast change of direction is a
defining factor of an athlete s performance. Fast change of direction speed and ability to make the
right decision in a game situation makes for an excellent athlete.
Many tests have been designed to test for change of direction speed. The 5 0 5 test is a timed
agility test using rapid 180 degree turns and straight line speed. The Illinois test is a timed agility
test using straight line speed and many multi directional changes. The Zig zag test is a good
indication of multiple directional changes. It is a timed test where the athlete must round cones set
out in a figure 8.
Subjects used in this study were 10 male soccer players. The agility test that was chosen to best
simulate this sport was the 5 0 5 agility test. This was due to the quick, snappy change

Disadvantages Of Travel And Tourism
The Travel and Tourism economy is one of the fastest growing activities in most countries around
the world [1]. For many developing countries it is one of the main sources of foreign exchange
income and the number one export category, creating such needed employment and opportunities

Council (WTTO), the Travel and
Tourism industry have generated US$7.6 trillion (10% of global GDP (Gross Domestic Product))

total of RM72.0 billion receipts and 27.22 million arrivals were registered [3].
However, the Travel and Tourism industry has not only some benefits and also drawbacks.
Tourism can cause its share of problems such as social dislocation, loss of cultural heritage,
ecological degradation, pollution and noise. For instance, much of the corals on Pulau Payar
Marine Park, Langkawi, Malaysia were damaged due to mass arrival of tourists as the travel
operators has allowed 600 to 700 tourists on the island at a time [4]. One hand, there is a push to

The Cost Of Public Transportation In The United States

they can only move much smaller groups of people at a time. Public transportation in the United

What Is The Mood Of The Poem Grenadier By A. E. Housman
Authors and poets primarily use literary devices to provide a greater understanding for their own
work, yet some writers use them effectively while others fail in doing so. In Grenadier the poet,
A.E Housman effectively uses symbolism, meter, rhyme and imagery to emphasize the cheap price
of human life during a war, within the perspective of a dying draft soldier.
This poem follows a common meter that consists of an iambic tetrameter followed by an iambic
trimeter. It contains five stanzas in quatrains each following an ABAB rhyme scheme. This meter
and rhyme are very commonly found throughout poetry and as such convey a sense of commonality.
This commonality helps us more easily identify with the universal message conveyed by ... Show

The poet s skilful usage of imagery in the third stanza such as My mouth is dry, my shirt is wet,
my blood runs all away helps the reader formulate an image of a bleak and forlorn soldier dying
in a ditch. Moreover, an oxymoron (shirts are usually dry and mouths are usually wet) is used to
create a sense of drama, and despair. Housman s usage of the common meter can also be
considered an oxymoron; this is because the light hearted flow of the poem contrasts with the
stark reality of the poem s message. The soldier s exclamation that he shall not die in debt , is an
example of Housman s usage of symbolism; the soldier indicates that with his death his duty to
the queen is complete and that he will have fulfilled any and all obligations towards the queen
and country. The last line can also be considered sarcastic in a literal sense, simple because
thirteen pence a day would not be able to pay off any debts a young man may incur, thereby
making another reference to the low cost of life in a war.
In the fourth stanza, the poet shifts his attention from the soldier to new young men , most of who
are marching to their deaths as the soldier once did. This indicates that the war will not simply end
with his death, but will consume the lives of more innocents. The cycle would continue. It also
implies that the

The Declaration Of The Stamp Act
Under the rule of King George III, many colonists felt robbed of their rights and freedoms.
Consistently abused by the British government, the colonists decided to ask for freedom. The
colonists were considered citizens of Great Britain, therefore forcing them to follow any of
Great Britain s laws. Colonists learned to depend on Britain for supplies and products to help
their economy, which increased Britain s economy as well. The colonists had to listen and obey
all ranges of Britain s government and faced consequences if they rebelled. The passing of these
three acts limited the colonist s privileges and resulted in them yearning for freedom. The Tea Act,
Stamp Act and Intolerable Acts were the most important in leading the colonists to writing the
Declaration of Independence. The ratification of the Stamp Act, Tea Act, and Intolerable Act
occurred within 1765 1774. Each act forced colonists to pay a tax or limit their rights, whether to
create revenue for the British government or keep tighter controls on the country and economy.
These three acts pushed the colonists further into their dream for independence. They drew up the
Declaration of Independence, which asked King George III for freedom from the British. The
Stamp Act was approved following the French and Indian War. The passing of this act forced
colonists to pay a tax on any printed good. This created revenue for the British Parliament.
Following the Townshend Act, a tax placed on glass, lead and other goods,

Wood Window Maintenance Requirements
Understanding Wood Window Maintenance That Will Be Required If you have ever looked
into the difference between vinyl and wood windows, one of the biggest reasons against wood
windows is that they need maintenance. This may leave you wondering what type of
maintenance the window requires, and if it s enough work to justify getting vinyl. Here are
three ways you will be expected to maintain wood windows if you want them to last. Repair Small
Cracks The best way to maintain your wood windows will be to find small problems before they
become big issues. One way to do this is to look out for small cracks. A common problem with
wood is the cracks in the wood is how cold air gets into your home. It causes your house to be less

Ethics Of Packaging Essay
Ethical Food Labeling and PackagingAfter seeing the ad on television or in the weekly grocer
flyer, seeing the actual labeling on a product is what consumers have to make informed choices.
What started out to be another form of advertising and last attempt to sell a product, food
packaging and labeling has been regulated through the FDA and FD amp;C to require certain
information. It was declared to be the policy of the Congress to assist consumers and manufacturers
in reaching these goals in the marketingof consumer goods (Regulatory). Beyond giving the name

Customers are increasingly seeking to purchase products from companies that are taking care of
our environment (Carbonfree). The Federal Trade Commission regulates environmental marketing
claims so consumers can be reasonably confident that any promises apply to most of the
packaging or contents of the product and not to minor, incidental components (Margaret).
Excessive paper or wrapping and the harms caused by non biodegradable materials have become a
hot topic and companies have realized the public is equally concerned about the ethics of
packaging. Not only having safe and effective packaging equipment qualifies companies as being
ethical, but the processes and working conditions of employees are under the microscope as well.
As an example, a company that produces sugar can have the claim of being Carbon Free . For many
consumers, this sounds good and well intentioned, however the claim is not directly for the product
but instead meant for how the product was manufactured. Without statements tying the two together
the general public will continue to be misled or misinformed. The claim of packaging made out of
recycled material when only a small percentage of the container was indeed recycled is a
continuation of product misrepresentation and manufacturers point to shoplifting as an explanation
for packing items in difficult to open containers (Margaret). Margaret points out that even this issue

4 Week Training Report
Training to Be Better AS.4 Kata Brill
This report summarises and requires me to discuss performing physical activities which are there
to improve a final goal. Over the six weeks I completed a training programme suited to these
activities, cooper run, vertical test, max push ups, agility test and max leg press. I did this through
a variety of gym sessions, runs or interval training. Which can hopefully positively adopt into my
basketball.
Over my 6 weeks of training I had to do pre tests and post test. For the cooper run I did nearly 7
laps of a 400m track and on my post test did 7 full laps. Push ups, 42 pre test to 50 post test. Max
Leg Press of 80kg 22 pre test 30 post test. Agility Test pre test 19,87, post test 18.72. Vertical Test
59cm to 61cm. To accomplish improving all these areas I set a 4 week training schedule which
specified on these tests for improvements. Which comprehensively worked as all my tests improved
from pre to post.
Throughout the 6 weeks a implemented sports phycology to help maximise my final outcomes.
Using things such as self motivation, goal setting etc. I used the training principles of SPORTSFITT

of this is during ring road endurance session. A couple of minutes through my run my legs

Starbucks Is A Leader Of The Coffee House Industry
There is no doubt that humans love their coffee, and with thousands of corporate and franchised
stores all around the world, Starbucks is a leader in the coffee house industry. Formed in Seattle,
Washington over forty years ago, this humble coffee shop has expanded into most every major city
in the nation. According to an article from Huffingtonpost.com, 80% of the population in the lower
48 United States lives within twenty miles of a Starbucks, and nearly 50% of that population lives
within five miles of one. At any given moment, no one is farther than one hundred and seventy
miles away from a Starbucks that s a lot of coffee! An article from BusinessInsider.com stated that

They are making an effort to reduce their carbon footprint by offering incentives to utilize reusable
cups, manufacturing stores out of sustainable materials, and encouraging everyday customers to
practice eco friendly behavior.
STARBUCKS EFFORT TO LOWER THEIR CARBON FOOTPRINT3 Since the number of
paper cups that Starbucks goes through on an annual basis is in the billions, a reduction of
these cups would have a great positive impact on the environment. Walk into any Starbucks store
and a wide variety of reusable cups are available for sale. They vary in size, shape, price, and
design, but all encourage the same thing recycling. Starbucks even offers a discount of ten cents
when a customer brings in their own cup, which they display in print on their menu reader board.
In early 2013, a Whittier Daily News article announced the roll out of a new Starbucks reusable
plastic cup priced at only a dollar. Starbucks is trying to reduce the amount of paper cups that end
up in a landfill every year. The plastic reusable cup can withstand about thirty washings in the
dishwasher and then once it s no longer usable, the cup can be recycled, as well. Starbucks kept the
cup the traditional white and green themed design to emulate their standard cup, attempting to
reinforce customer s continued loyalty to the brand (Scauzillo, 2013). Currently, Starbucks is
offering a white and red holiday themed plastic reusable cup for $2.00.

Introduction Of A Primary Alcohol
Substitution
5. Introduction In this experiment, a primary alcohol was converted into a primary bromoalkane
using hydrobromic acid. The reaction was done under reflux and then distilled to obtain a product
of higher purity. The degree of the alkyl halide obtained from the experiment was tested with silver
nitrate and sodium iodide. An infrared (IR) spectra and the weight of the product were obtained for
further analysis. The IR gave information on the present functional groups and product weight was
used to calculate the percent yield.
6. Data and Results The product obtained after reflux was a yellow liquid. With the halide tests, the
product reacted faster with sodium iodide to form a precipitate than with silver nitrate. This
indicates that the degree of the product was primary and that bromine did replace the alcohol
group. The IR of the product showed four peaks at 3326.36, 2932.86, 1465.34, and 1028.73.
These peaks indicate O H, C H, C H3, and C O bonds, respectively, within the product. 2.032
grams of product were recovered from the reaction. With this, a percent yield of 27.14% was
calculated. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the replacement of
one group for another at a saturated, sp3 hybridized carbon atom. This process is often used to
interconvert functional groups, such as in the preparation of alkyl halides. In these reactions,
nucleophiles attack the carbon atom which the electronegative leaving group breaks its bond

Descartes Three Forms Of The Cogito Argument
Descartes believes that we experience the world through our senses and that because of defective
nature doubt, the only thing we know for certain is our minds. Dreyfus does not agree because he
believes that we experience the world directly and that telepresence is not a realistic concern.
Descartes defective nature doubt is plausible because the development technology has the potential
to satisfy Dreyfus s conditions for advanced telepresence and we could then call into question our
everyday experiences. In this paper, I will discuss Descartes three forms of doubt, the cogito
argument and its relationship to epistemology. I will also discuss the three conditions that,
according to Dreyfus, must be met by telepresence in order for it to be... Show more content on

Why does he not consider that technology could advance far enough that a machine could satisfy
these conditions? It is extremely possible that technology will make it almost impossible to
distinguish an actual experience from a simulated experience. We have already come very close to
simulating maximum grip through laparoscopic surgery. A transparent display system, high
resolution image and wide field of view, multiple feedback channels, and consistent information
shared between them are needed to stimulate the senses into experiencing a level of telepresence
(9). It seems realistic to conceive of a piece of technology that is capable of refining these qualities
to create the most realistic experience possible. In addition, it is very likely that as we spend more
time in simulated realities, we will forget what these conditions feel like. Functioning indirectly
through technology has the potential to become the norm and our body in the world experiences
will start to be questioned (13). Advancements in technology discussed seem almost inconceivable
using the information we have now. However, wasn t the same thought a hundred years ago about
the technology we have today? Someone in the seventeen hundreds would have thought being able
to video chat or watch tv was completely impossible. Who is

Comparing Beowulf To Anglo Saxon s
The tale of Beowulf is an Anglo Saxon epic poem composed in the sixth century then later written
in the tenth century, which is now the most popular poem ever written. The poem is based on a
man called Beowulf that is named to be the strongest, most respected man of his people, the Geats
he also risk death for glory or greater good of society.
Beowulf represented an epic hero to the Anglo saxon s because he is known to be the strongest
man alive My people have said, the wisest, most knowing And best of them, that duty was to go
to the Danes Great King (ll 228 230). Beowulf has set out with the best warriors of his people to
defeat the monster that has ruined King Hrothgar s kingdom. . . . chosen warrior who bravely
does battle with the creature Haunting our people. . . (ll 194 195). While talking to King Hrothgar,

Explain Ways To Minimise Estate Tax
Ways to minimise Estate Tax 1) Generation skipping: Generation skipping is exactly as it sounds. In
countries that allow it, many people will often choose to transfer a portion of their estate assets to
their grandchildren rather than transferring the full estate directly to their immediate children. This
strategy skips the second generation, and transfers the assets straight to the third generation, which
saves the assets from being eventually taxed twice. Normally the assets would be taxed once when
transferred from you to your children (second generation) and again when your children transfer it
eventually to your grandchildren (third generation). 2) Valuation Discounts : Valuation discounts

Ethical Theories Of Ethical Theory

Ethical Theory
Throughout Christianity there have been many ethical theories that have contributed in the
development of the current ethical theories. Ethical theory is used to help us ВЁdo goodВЁ and
benefit us by creating a solution that is morally correct. Every ethical theory stresses its own
distinct ideas which are: anticipating the consequences, and following his or her specific tasks on
how to benefit to one another in spite of trying to achieve a decision that is ethically right. In such a
case, for an ethical theory to be beneficial to others, it essentially needs to be set to a group of goals.
In modern day, many laws impose that through ethical theories we should try to attain an immense
amount of good, because many people may benefit from it. Many ethical theories also offer
important components to assist with the process of making righteous decisions. There are four
different ethical theories that have contributed such relevance in today s current ethical theory.
These theories are Utilitarianism, New Testament Exegesis, Saint Thomas AquinasВґ ethical views,
and Immanuel Kant s ethical philosophy.
Utilitarianism is a doctrine of utility and helps us find the good out of a situation of ethical
circumstances. Through utilitarianism, it states that we should try to produce the greatest amount
of good, as opposed to all of the evil in the world. One theological thinker who supported this
theory was John Gay. He states

  • 2. Conversion Of 2d Image Into 3d Image Using Segmentation Conversion of 2D Image into 3D Image Using Segmentation Prashant Dahiya1 Computer Scientist at Adobe Systems, Noida 1pdahiya@adobe.com Abstract Image captured by two dimensional camera contains no depth information. However depth information is needed in many applications, for example in robotic vision, satellite imaging and target tracking. To extract depth information from images Stereo matching is used. The main aim of our project is to use stereo matching algorithms to plot the disparity map of segmented images which gives the depth information details. Particle Swarm Optimization and K means algorithms are used for image segmentation. Our main objective is to implement stereo matching algorithms on the segmented images, compare the results of K means and PSO on the basis of objective parameters such as PSNR, execution time, density of disparity map and compression ratio and perform subjective analysis of reconstructed 3 D images. The compared results show that the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm gives better 3 D reconstructed image. Keywords K means, PSNR, Particle Swarm Optimization, DSP, FPGA, ACO I. INTRODUCTION People can see the depth of the objects because they see the 3D world from two moderately dissimilar angles (one from right eye and other from left eye). Our brains then figure out how close things are by determining how far apart they are in the two images from our eyes. Our objective here is to do the similar thing using a computer. Initially a ... • 3. America As A Melting Pot As soon as someone calls the United States a melting pot, I immediately picture the School House Rock music video in which hundreds of happy immigrants dive into the pot to swim together in harmony. The idea of America as a melting pot is, on the surface, a good intentioned metaphor that carries with it the implication of our unity within one, uniquely American culture. Unfortunately, this metaphor carries negative connotations as well, including forced assimilation into the majority as you melt away into the mix. Imagine five pieces of chocolate, one white, added to a heated saucepan; eventually, it all turns brown. Despite the multiplicity of cultures added to this melting pot, something is lost in the final product: diversity. In a melting pot, it is suggested that we blend together; we are indistinct; we are Americans united in one culture, one language, one creed. Simply stated, this is not an accurate representation of our country s culture or its citizens. I find the stew to be a much more appropriate metaphor. Even when heated and stirred, a stew maintains its individual elements (potatoes, beef, onions, carrots, celery, etc.), but also allows for some transfer of flavors. The beef flavor is infused with notes of carrot and onion; the carrots have the added flavors of the broth and beef. The stew continues to have unique, individual elements, but it tastes better in tangent with other flavors. This is a more fitting description of America, as citizens ... • 5. Examples Of Absolute Certainty Developing an absolute sense of certainty can be good, but it can also be bad. There have been some instances where people who had absolute certainty met their downfall. Having some doubt is good. If you have doubt on a an assignment, you can go back and revise it. In a way it s like a stop sign. Doubt allows you to stop and analyze before going. Although being absolutely certain is good, it can make you over look mistakes, get your hopes up, and speculation occurs. There have been many instances where mistakes were overlooked because of absolute certainty. For example, the RMS Titanic. At the time it was the largest ship in the world and unsinkable. An absolute masterpiece and everyone thought it was indestructible. Engineers were positive that there wasn t a single thing wrong with her. Until it and thousands of passengers met their demise once the ship hit an iceberg. Had the engineers and other workers triple checked the shop, the sinking may not have happened. It currently lays at the bottom of the Atlantic wishing people took the initiative to give her a proper inspection. This may have been an over exaggerated example, but they put a hundred percent of their trust into to that ship.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, it happens all the time. • 6. The First Source By Qui Jin Both primary sources being compared come from Chapter 18 in Worlds Together, Worlds apart. The first source was written by Qui Jin, an early twentieth century Chinese feminist. In her essay titled An Address to Two Hundred Million Fellow Country Women, she details the injustices to Chinese women in this period. Jin also connects the fate of the Country to chinese women s futures. By doing so she puts a nationalist view into her essay. The other source is another feminist piece; this time coming from Bahithat al Badiya, where she criticizes Egypt s religious traditions in effect to women s freedom. Both women show some of the feminist ideas that were circling society at the beginning of the twentieth century. Throughout the turn of the century worldwide insecurities were rampant. Although modernism was Another insecurity would be the changing of roles for women in a society that was already losing many social constructs due to the rising popularity of modernist views. However, with decreasing economies and job loss, people start turning on their governments, and trying to revert to older more traditional ways. Modern views were starting to be rejected by many, and the growing anxieties of modern women fed to the views that change is for the worst. Both these women s radical views represented the desire for new identities. A common desire for the time, as people grew dissatisfied with their governments and wanted reform. • 7. Brain-Computer and Brain-Machine Interfaces Applied to the... Over the years, brain computer interfaces (BCIs), or brain machine interfaces (BMIs), have advanced into a technology that can be regularly be applied to the medical field. BCIs have been used for rehabilitative purposes, such as patients suffering from loss of speech and motor functions. Every year, approximately 795,000 people suffer a stroke. Out of these people, 600,000 of these are first attacks and 185,000 are recurrent attacks [9]. Stroke patients often suffer from paralysis and loss of speech. The use of BCIs can be highly beneficial to these patients, as well as to patients suffering from other diseases and traumatic injuries that result in loss of speech and motor function. Besides this, BCIs can also be useful in other areas of the medical field besides rehabilitative purposes. This technology, which was once only seen science fiction books and movies, is now becoming a realistic approach to treating patients. A BCI allows control of computers with the regulation of the patient s brainactivity alone. There are invasive BCIs that are primarily used in animal models where electrodes are implanted into the brain tissue, and noninvasive BCIs that use EEG recordings in humans. Much research has been done on using BCIs for stroke patients who suffer from paralysis and loss of motor function. The goal is to use BCIs to help these patients recover communication and motor function again. Over the years, much research has been conducted on patients who cannot communicate ... • 9. Summary Of The Shadow Of Man Goodall, J. (1971). In the Shadow of Man. Boston: Houghton Mifflin. The author s goal in writing this book is to discuss her experiences and what she had learned from studying wild Chimpanzees. Goodall wrote this book in order to convey her knowledge of a species of animal she loves very much, so that others may become educated and join her in protecting them. She dreamed of going to Africa to see them, and was offered a job by Dr. Lewis Leakey. Goodall wanted nothing more than a chance to help. Her experiences in surrounding herself with them have completely changed the way scientists conduct field research. Whether she intended to or not, the data she has collected has debunked myths and uncovered truths about chimpanzees, while bringing more light to humanbehavior. Brief Summary The book begins with Goodall in Africa, high up on steep mountains over six months into her trip to Gombe Stream Research Centre. She then flashbacks, and tells the whole story of how she got there. It begins when she was a child, and her mother bought her a stuffed Chimpanzee named Jubilee. Her love grew until she was able to finally visit Africa by staying with a friend. There she met Dr. Leakey, who at the time was a very famous anthropologist and paleontologist. He hired her to study the chimpanzees and sent her to Gombe. There she follows a group of chimps, and tells the stories of how she became a part of their life. • 10. Roger And Me Post Industrialization: an attack on the individual Roger Me (1989) by the famous activist documentary film maker Michael Moore explores the themes of post industrialism in his home town of Flint, Michigan while trying to track down Roger Smith the GM of General Motors who began shutting down Flint auto plants in 1985, eliminating over 30,000 jobs. Within the post industrial theme, the film explores several key ideas that tie neatly into the concept of the attack on the individual. The key ideas are found in Flint s crime escalation post factory shutdowns, the trend of the wealthy distancing themselves from the masses, and finally the relocation of factories and mechanization of labor. The film Roger Meencapsulates how profit driven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the 1980s and 1990s, the construction of new prisons jumped from 16 new prisons a year to 245 in rural and small town communities across the United States (Huling, 198). The rise accommodate the increasing number of individuals caught in the vast War on Drugs net. The core piece here is that Flint workers were incarcerating their former automobile factory co workers. Sold on the idea that prison jobs were family sustaining ones (Che, 814), i.e. good benefits and a pension, not unlike the once stable auto manufacturing jobs Flint used to have (Often the jobs were not as good or as entry level as advertised). Now the only solution to unemployment was essentially incarcerating friends. Incarceration is dehumanizing; it is turning individuals into capital to fill the beds of private prisons. It is rather ironic that Flint auto mobile workers, who built cars that seemingly liberated individuals from geography and the urban degradation, were now locking up and cutting away the other s freedoms. And at the same time, prisons helped to distance the wealthy from the poor and black inner city masses. The creation of private spaces illuminated class inequality. Moore s major mission of the film was to track down General Motor s GM Roger Smith and convince him to come to Flint, Michigan to see the damage his factory shutdowns created. Throughout the trek, Moore visits country and athletic clubs, the GM headquarters, Holiday conventions, and a Great Gatsby themed party to talk to Smith. At each venue, Moore s status as included or excluded was quite obvious. There were guards that kept him from meeting or even making an appointment with Roger Smith. Most noticeable is the fact that they are all contemporary celebrities and women. However, these celebrities share another common trait that will be of much more relevance in the discussion that will follow: they have all been given the label of kleptomaniac at one point or another in the public eye due to being caught shoplifting at least once. To be fair, diagnoses made by tabloids and the media are of much less substance than medical diagnosis. It is plausible that one or more of the celebrities mentioned above who were caught shoplifting were not stealing out of a recurrent and compulsive urge. Regardless, whether... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a case of a man who would not eat unless his food was stolen, so a servant would take pains to hide the man s food in such a manner that the man could steal it and eat rather than die from starvation. One woman was so afflicted with the compulsion to steal that she would not hesitate in stealing offerings and tithes from church baskets at the altar. An otherwise upstanding woman was such a helpless thief that she would steal bread from her friends dinner table if there was nothing else more valuable to be had. There is even record of a clergyman whose kleptomania was so notorious that the Church eventually had to cut ties with him. A British lady, presumably of high society, was prosecuted for stealing handkerchiefs from a clothing store; the Times which reported on the case insinuated that recurrent and compulsive theft of cheap items from shops is quite common among the ladies of high society in London. This behavior was so well known that family members arranged a well coordinated effort with drivers and shopkeepers to keep tabs on their thieving ladies and to make sure that the shopkeepers got reimbursed. Sometimes the thief herself would be the one writing the check that the shopkeepers would inevitably send to their home. One of the causes of kleptomania appears to be general insanity. • 12. Argumentative Essay On Abortion In medicine, abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus. It is the loss of a pregnancy and does not refer to why the pregnancy was lost (https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=2091). Abortion is a very contentious issue and the attitude towards it has always been and is still very controversial. It has caused uncounted deaths and violent confrontations between the supporters of the two separate parties. Pro life supporters advocate that everyone has the right to life, even Fetus, and Pro choice supporters argue that the right to abortionis absolute. In Abortion, No more Apologies, Katha Pollitt states abortion as a normal part of a woman s reproductive life, one that should be accepted as a moral right and a fundamental choice with positive social implications. In this article, Pollitt takes on the personhood argument by reaffirming the personal right and choice of a woman to control her own body. She talked about how the abortion subject has always been in the shadow. She gave the example of her mother that had an abortion but never told her about it, and she only knew about from some papers after her mother s death. Nobody knew about the abortion that her mom had, not even her mom s best friend. She pointed to the psychological and even physiological dangers of unwanted pregnancies that necessitate the legalization of abortion. An unintended pregnancyis so stressful for women, as is the process of making a decision regarding its outcome. The fear that accompanies the idea of abortion or the complications that might occur after the procedures, are considered as major negative effects on women s health. She heartedly defended abortion as a right similar to education. A woman who can choose her major and her career can make her own decision about keeping her pregnancy or not. To criminalize abortion is to go back to where we were in the 50 s, to the tremendous amount of illegal abortions, which was extremely dangerous. She aimed in her comparison between women in the past and currently, to explain how legalization of abortion changed how women are seeing themselves now: mothers by choice, not by ... This saying was first documented in 1839 by a man named Edward Bulwer Lytton during one of his most historical plays Cardinal Richelieu. The saying means that you could accomplish more by communicating and using your words. McKay lived in the U.S. around the time that racism was at its highest point, and the Ku Klux Klan was out committing hate crimes. I ll explain McKay s poems purpose, then I ll discuss its meaning and effect, and finally I ll talk about whether or not this poem was a rebellious act. To begin with, its important to understand the setting in which this poem was created. This is important because it would give people dignity and show that their life has meaning just like the rest, and that they are people just like the white men. This put many to tears and enraged others just because of how true it was. Due to Oberon clouding Titania s vision and Puck turning Bottom into an ass, it mixes together perfectly, to form a very humorous, yet chaotic situation. The whole reason Titania and Bottom s relationship prevails is that Oberon needs a distraction for her, it would make his task much easier to acquire the child if Titania was preoccupied. The main plot revolves around this and soon after, more conflicts follow. This the last conflict that Shakespeare must restore order to, making it a very important moment. Being to hot or too cold is an extreme nuisance in every day lives, but I d much rather be too cold than too hot. It is quite simple to keep warm: either put on more layers of clothing or wrap yourself in a blanket. To keep cool is another story; one could strip off layers of clothes until they are naked and have no more layers to go, then they resort to a fan, which in turn is just blowing more hot air at them. Coming to The Pennsylvania State University I was excited to learn, meet new people and have fun, and I have been able to do most of those, however, it is sometimes difficult with the scalding oven that is my dorm room. To help fix the problem that my fellow students and I are experiencing, I propose that the university either install central air conditioning in all dorms, or, barring that, install air conditioning units in dorm rooms, in order to allow students to get more sleep, better grades, and have an overall better and healthier college experience. Sleeping for as long as you want! Sounds like paradise, but it is quite unrealistic. Instead I would ask to sleep for as long as I could until my alarm wakes me up for class. That should not be too much to ask for, nonetheless, it takes great effort on my part to do the actual sleeping. It is hard enough to go to bed with thoughts of grades and of life little stresses in general, but is remarkably difficult when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When we were young our parents always told us, it takes a big person to admit their mistakes . Contrary to this popular statement, what if you never actually made a mistake in the first place and fate was at fault for your failure? In his novel The Outliers, Gladwell claims that if you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the worldto your desires (Gladwell 151). However, I disagree with this statement because success is rare and no matter how hard you work, you may never change the world around you. No matter how hard you work, there will be people that drag you down, circumstances you face, obstacles that stand in your way, and a world that will refuse to change for you. Chapter four delves more deeply into the rather tragic life of Chris Langan. He grew up very poor; his father was an alcoholic and for the most part absent. He was a highly gifted student and ended up receiving a full scholarship to Reed University. He found the adjustment very difficult, due to the fact that the teachers had little to no involvement or interest in their students. The odds were stacked against him despite his hard work and commitment to his education. Through numerous setbacks, he maintained his rigorous academic passion and excelled at calculus. Racial profiling is common within the Disney films. Where it is most commonly seen is within movies where two races are mixing, such as in the movie Pocahontas. Disney is not necessarily discriminating against a race through film, but Disney is making a point of portraying race and culture through film incorrectly based on stereotypes. Aladdin is an original Disney movie which brought racial profiling into question. Simply starting with the names of the characters brings question about race into view. The two most questioned names were Aladdin and Jafaar, names which were supposed to symbolize the poor Middle Eastern culture, are names that originally originate from Russia. Also, since this movie was supposed to be in a Middle Eastern city, the characters all had a dark complexion. The dark complexion was correct on Disney s part; however, what was incorrect was that all the facial features were European. By having the incorrect facial features with the dark skin tone it teaches children that they can sort people by race solely on a person s skin color. The Subconscious Analysis That Shapes Our Lives Running Head: INTUITION Intuition: The Subconscious Analysis That Shapes Our Lives Shannon Moran Bridges High School INTUITION Abstract Intuition has rarely been given the credit it deserves, even when numerous experiments over the past decades has shown it to be a complex and detailed subconscious process, rather than the pseudo science many still believe it to be. Despite the success of intuition as a decision maker, the ideology that we should trust logic first and hunches second often wins out. While intuition has been known to lead to mistakes, known as Warren Harding Errors, it s often more reliable than logical, thought out problem solving. Ignorance as to the true nature of intuition has led to a societal ideology that values the conscious over the subconscious, and regards intuition as a lesser emotion that isn t to be trusted. However, there is, in fact, science to support the reliability of intuition. Gut feelings are a result of the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, located directly behind the nose, which sorts and prioritizes information, and runs all relevant information through the subconscious, which uses an analyzation of past events and calculates the best course of action. This process manifests as intuition. keywords: intuition, decision making, logic, clinical intuition Intuition: The Subconscious Analysis That Shapes Our Lives Throughout history, intuition has been regarded with scientific speculation, or as a sort of sixth sense, ... During the reconstruction of the South, many Southerners felt less aided and crippled further due to taxes, political reformation, and of course the loss of slave labor. In terms of political corruption, the Southern states were forced back into the union but were denied representation in the Union, and used political control to rob the states financially. Taking the votes of the newly freed blacks also created a tension with white and black relations that last to even today, commonly from the Ku Klux Klan. If anything, the attempt to create stability to the war torn South ended up making things worse in both the North and South. Chapter nine is discussing how Lincoln s true legacy is placed, most notably the construction of the American System suggested by Henry Clay. With his presidency, Lincoln threatens that he will attack any state that fails to collect enough funds for its protectoral tariffs. Lincoln also issued large sums of money to the construction of transcontinental railroad lines. Finally, he forced the commission of the much needed national bank, the backbone of the American System his idol planned out. The start of chapter seven dealt with the death of Papaw. I think this death took a toll on J.D largely because Papaw was the closest thing to a stable father figure he had. I love the relationship that Papaw and J.D had, and I m sure it was one that J.D cherishes to this day. Reading about Papaw s funeral was especially tough for me because I have been exactly where J.D was in that moment. My grandfather passed away in the summer of 2015, and I also spoke at his funeral. I was extremely close with my Grandpa, or Papa as I called him, and reading about J.D s experience brought up some tough feelings for me. I noticed that J.D s mother took the loss of her father extremely had. She was thrown into a prescription drug induced tailspin. This is yet another example of the loss of a loved one completely derailing the life of one of their loved ones. Her story reminded me of Scott from Evicted. This also made me feel for J.D, he had just lost his beloved grandfather, and now he had to worry about his mother struggling with her addiction. Later in the chapter, I was happy to read that Lindsay had a great life going for her. She is one of my favorite characters in this book, and I was joyed to read that she had found a great husband. I also thought it was completely selfish for J.D s mother to ask him to move to Dayton with her newest boyfriend. I was also sickened to read that J.D s mother sent him to a therapist just so she could interrogate him about how he acted towards his mother. I think if J.D saw an actual therapist, he could have really benefited from it. I also really respected that Lindsay dropped everything she was doing to go pick up J.D from Dayton. I think this really speaks to their relationship, and how much she cares for her brother. I was also stunned to read that J.D s mother agreed to marry a man she had only known for one week. I knew that she had relationship issues, but this still shocked me. I think J.D eventually became numb to the amount of partners his mother brought home. The Motif Of Entrapment By Edith Wharton Executive Order 9066, passed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1942, forced all Japanese Americans to pack up their lives and move to internment camps, a place where they would live in shabby barracks and get treated unfairly by guards. This order confineded the American citizens in heinous camps for up to three years. Because of their heritage, which could be as little as one sixteenth Japanese, the citizens were obligated to move; they became trapped in these camps where unhappiness was present in every aspect of life. Agility has been described as a rapid whole body movement with change of velocity or direction in response to a stimulus . (Sheppard et al, 2006) This description identifies the inclusion of cognitive skills in determining agility. This definition applies to open skills only. Open skills cannot be pre planned, however closed skills, such as sprinting or previously planned changes of direction, can be planned in advance. This is very important in every field sport as the ability to react quickly and allow the movements to match these reactions enhances performance. Many field sports require straight line running speed but more often than not fast change of direction is a defining factor of an athlete s performance. Fast change of direction speed and ability to make the right decision in a game situation makes for an excellent athlete. Many tests have been designed to test for change of direction speed. The 5 0 5 test is a timed agility test using rapid 180 degree turns and straight line speed. The Illinois test is a timed agility test using straight line speed and many multi directional changes. The Zig zag test is a good indication of multiple directional changes. It is a timed test where the athlete must round cones set out in a figure 8. Subjects used in this study were 10 male soccer players. The agility test that was chosen to best simulate this sport was the 5 0 5 agility test. This was due to the quick, snappy change ... For many developing countries it is one of the main sources of foreign exchange income and the number one export category, creating such needed employment and opportunities for development [2]. According to World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTO), the Travel and Tourism industry have generated US$7.6 trillion (10% of global GDP (Gross Domestic Product)) and 277 million jobs (1 in 11 jobs) for the global economy in 2014. In Malaysia, for 2014 alone, a total of RM72.0 billion receipts and 27.22 million arrivals were registered [3]. However, the Travel and Tourism industry has not only some benefits and also drawbacks. Tourism can cause its share of problems such as social dislocation, loss of cultural heritage, ecological degradation, pollution and noise. For instance, much of the corals on Pulau Payar Marine Park, Langkawi, Malaysia were damaged due to mass arrival of tourists as the travel operators has allowed 600 to 700 tourists on the island at a time [4]. So far this year there have been a total of 6,100 incidents of hate crimes with more happening every week causing fear within several communities. The FBI should work harder on keeping these incidents from happening by starting investigations and preventing the events that keep occurring instead of causing more protests and violence. • 43. What Is The Mood Of The Poem Grenadier By A. E. Housman Authors and poets primarily use literary devices to provide a greater understanding for their own work, yet some writers use them effectively while others fail in doing so. In Grenadier the poet, A.E Housman effectively uses symbolism, meter, rhyme and imagery to emphasize the cheap price of human life during a war, within the perspective of a dying draft soldier. This poem follows a common meter that consists of an iambic tetrameter followed by an iambic trimeter. It contains five stanzas in quatrains each following an ABAB rhyme scheme. This meter and rhyme are very commonly found throughout poetry and as such convey a sense of commonality. This commonality helps us more easily identify with the universal message conveyed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poet s skilful usage of imagery in the third stanza such as My mouth is dry, my shirt is wet, my blood runs all away helps the reader formulate an image of a bleak and forlorn soldier dying in a ditch. Moreover, an oxymoron (shirts are usually dry and mouths are usually wet) is used to create a sense of drama, and despair. Housman s usage of the common meter can also be considered an oxymoron; this is because the light hearted flow of the poem contrasts with the stark reality of the poem s message. The soldier s exclamation that he shall not die in debt , is an example of Housman s usage of symbolism; the soldier indicates that with his death his duty to the queen is complete and that he will have fulfilled any and all obligations towards the queen and country. The last line can also be considered sarcastic in a literal sense, simple because thirteen pence a day would not be able to pay off any debts a young man may incur, thereby making another reference to the low cost of life in a war. In the fourth stanza, the poet shifts his attention from the soldier to new young men , most of who are marching to their deaths as the soldier once did. This indicates that the war will not simply end with his death, but will consume the lives of more innocents. The cycle would continue. It also implies that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Colonists learned to depend on Britain for supplies and products to help their economy, which increased Britain s economy as well. The colonists had to listen and obey all ranges of Britain s government and faced consequences if they rebelled. The passing of these three acts limited the colonist s privileges and resulted in them yearning for freedom. The Tea Act, Stamp Act and Intolerable Acts were the most important in leading the colonists to writing the Declaration of Independence. The ratification of the Stamp Act, Tea Act, and Intolerable Act occurred within 1765 1774. Each act forced colonists to pay a tax or limit their rights, whether to create revenue for the British government or keep tighter controls on the country and economy. These three acts pushed the colonists further into their dream for independence. They drew up the Declaration of Independence, which asked King George III for freedom from the British. Excessive paper or wrapping and the harms caused by non biodegradable materials have become a hot topic and companies have realized the public is equally concerned about the ethics of packaging. Not only having safe and effective packaging equipment qualifies companies as being ethical, but the processes and working conditions of employees are under the microscope as well. As an example, a company that produces sugar can have the claim of being Carbon Free . For many consumers, this sounds good and well intentioned, however the claim is not directly for the product but instead meant for how the product was manufactured. Without statements tying the two together the general public will continue to be misled or misinformed. • 49. Introduction Of A Primary Alcohol Substitution 5. Introduction In this experiment, a primary alcohol was converted into a primary bromoalkane using hydrobromic acid. The reaction was done under reflux and then distilled to obtain a product of higher purity. The degree of the alkyl halide obtained from the experiment was tested with silver nitrate and sodium iodide. An infrared (IR) spectra and the weight of the product were obtained for further analysis. The IR gave information on the present functional groups and product weight was used to calculate the percent yield. 6. Data and Results The product obtained after reflux was a yellow liquid. With the halide tests, the product reacted faster with sodium iodide to form a precipitate than with silver nitrate. This indicates that the degree of the product was primary and that bromine did replace the alcohol group. The IR of the product showed four peaks at 3326.36, 2932.86, 1465.34, and 1028.73. These peaks indicate O H, C H, C H3, and C O bonds, respectively, within the product. 2.032 grams of product were recovered from the reaction. With this, a percent yield of 27.14% was calculated. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the replacement of one group for another at a saturated, sp3 hybridized carbon atom. A transparent display system, high resolution image and wide field of view, multiple feedback channels, and consistent information shared between them are needed to stimulate the senses into experiencing a level of telepresence (9). It seems realistic to conceive of a piece of technology that is capable of refining these qualities to create the most realistic experience possible. Ethical Theories Of Ethical Theory Alyssa Arias Period 4 Dr. Robertson May 10, 2016 Ethical Theory Throughout Christianity there have been many ethical theories that have contributed in the development of the current ethical theories. Ethical theory is used to help us ВЁdo goodВЁ and benefit us by creating a solution that is morally correct. Every ethical theory stresses its own distinct ideas which are: anticipating the consequences, and following his or her specific tasks on how to benefit to one another in spite of trying to achieve a decision that is ethically right. In such a case, for an ethical theory to be beneficial to others, it essentially needs to be set to a group of goals. In modern day, many laws impose that through ethical theories we should try to attain an immense amount of good, because many people may benefit from it. Many ethical theories also offer important components to assist with the process of making righteous decisions. There are four different ethical theories that have contributed such relevance in today s current ethical theory. These theories are Utilitarianism, New Testament Exegesis, Saint Thomas AquinasВґ ethical views, and Immanuel Kant s ethical philosophy. Utilitarianism is a doctrine of utility and helps us find the good out of a situation of ethical circumstances.
