The Public Administration Advisory Committee
The UIC Public Administration Advisory Committee has assigned Aida Demirovic and Miguel
Mosqueda with three tasks (1) creating an engagement alumni plan, (2) incorporating hands on work
experience throughout the program, and (3) increasing curriculum focus to include data analysis and
project management. In order to conduct an extensive and in depth analysis of the three tasks, the team
took several approaches. In regard to alumni engagement the team assembled two focus groups. The

While the volume of participants was lower than that of an electronic survey the content was much
greater. The only criteria the participants had to meet was that they were alumni or within their last
semester of graduation. The questioner was created by our team, approved by our contact, and looked
over by the UIC research lab. Our initial focus group was conduced by October 30th, 2014. This focus

My Papas Waltz And My Father s Song
Every one of us has a childhood, some of us may experience a memorable one, while some of us want
to erase it from our memory. Everyone also has their own personal feelings towards a father s figure
due to their personal experiences they have as a child. The poems My Father s Song, by Simon J.
Ortiz, and My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke, are two similar poems written about a father and
child relationship. My Papa s Waltz creates a debate whether the father son relationship is sweet
loving memory or a confession of childhood abuse. The two poems are spoken from the child s point
of view during a memorable event in their childhood. The poems My Father s Song and My Papa s
Waltz both share a theme of admiration each kid has looking upon their father and a warm memory.
The writers use a variety of poetic devices such as tone, word choice, imagery, and figurative

Final Evaluation As I have come to an end of this Unit 2, I am now going to evaluate on each elements
that were useful to me while I was doing this unit. The main sections that I am going to cover are the
search engines used, search techniques used and search criteria, sources of information used,
comparison of the internet and non internet sources and the quality of the information found. Internet

I used many different sources of information such as internet websites, videos, articles etc and the non
internet sources were the magazines, newspapers and TV. Personally I found the internet sources
easier to look for any wanted information as it was a lot quicker and I was able to personalise the type
of search that I wanted to conduct. I also had the facility to screen print, copy the main points and get
the images instantly so that I could show it as my reference. Non internet sources was also very useful
to find the information but I had to spend more time while researching as I had to flick through many
pages just to find the article about the laptops and the information that I gained were all very limited.
The possible improvement would be that if I tried researching more using the non internet sources by
talking with the technology experts etc. There were many dates that I had come across during the
research of the pull out section. In order to check that if the dates were correct I looked into many

We reflect on environmental issues learned so far and what has been an influencing factor and has this
shaped my attitude. The hypothetical scenario of implementing three programs to solve environmental
problems, three stages for each program and what the programs will achieve is also discussed.

The Catholic Church s response to the Western Schism was vastly important to its respectability and
authority in regards to the faithful of that time. The Western Schism was only a temporary
misunderstanding, even though it compelled the Church for forty years to seek its true head; it was fed
by politics and passions, and was terminated by the assembling of the councils of Pisa and Constance.
1 After the Avignon Papacy, the Catholic Church had three men claiming to be pope. One man elected
in Rome, one in Avignon, France, and one elected by the Council of Pisa. This was very detrimental to
the Catholic theology which states that it can trace every pope back to St. Peter, the first pope. The
Catholic faithful were not sure which of the three men was the true pope and which, if any of them,
they should listen to. It was a very confusing time for all the faithful living in this time, and a very
annoying situation for the true pope who was now seen by many to be as questionable as the other two
in regards to not being the true pope. The three men knew what a mess this situation was and two of
them wanted to deal with the situation, so as to reduce confusion among the faithful. The anti pope
John XXIII called the Council of Constance to deal with this situation. He offered to resign from the
papacy, that he was never in possession of, if the other two men would as well. The council met to
depose of the two anti popes, to deal with heretical teachings, and to protect the succession of the
papacy. This council is one of the most important ecumenical councils, as it helped to affirm the
succession of the pope and to help to resolve the confusion caused by these anti popes. The Council of
Constance was called in 1414 by the Anti Pope John XXIII. It was called to resolve the conflict
regarding the papacy and to identify the true successor of St. Peter. Between November 1414 and June
1415, the council had a total of 13 sessions, dealing with the papacy and how the pope was chosen.

What made Native American peoples vulnerable to conquest by European adventures? I think there
were multiple reasons for the Native Americans were vulnerable to conquest. Economic, social
structure, militarily, and medicinally. They were also already in a period of population decline prior to
the arrival of the Europeans. Cahokia s, Aztec s, Inca s and Mayans population where no were near the
size they had been or almost completely nonexistent. Economically they didn t have the vast trading
networks that the Europeans had. They did have some reginal trade but not across the entire continent.
I think had they had a larger trade system they could have helped each other out technologically
increasing their ability to resist some of that conquest.
