Reflection Of The Incredibles
The Incredibles is more than a hero s journey; it also explores the ties between faith and family.
Although watching this movie does not reveal this fact immediately, we can understand this film
through a deep understanding and knowledge of Ostwalt s theory in his journal, Religion Popular
Movies. To begin, Ostwalt outlines three categories in which films can fall into: theological,
mythological and ideological. These three categories are intrinsic in nature making sense semantically
but Ostwalt delves deeper into the meanings in his journal and describes instances in which viewers
can relate. The Incredibles, in this case, falls under a mythological and critical lens. With this
information, we can start to uncover the easter eggs that Brad Bird, the director of The Incredibles, has
left for us. This film teaches us the importance of recognizing and accepting the gifts that God has
given us. The characters experience growth only when they have wholeheartedly embraced the gifts
that have been given to them. Once they fully accept and understand their gifts, we see them flourish.
Imagine living in a time when superheroes are shunned for saving people; when helping people is a
taboo. A time when superheroes like Mr. Incredible and Frozone are subjected to listening to police
scanners in the night, like vigilantes, when they were originally admired by many for their kind and
selfless acts; this is the setting of Pixar s The Incredibles. After being shunned by the general

Eswine Homiletical Ideals
Preaching to a Post everything World offers several contributions to the art of preaching. New ideas
and concepts facilitate sermon design and construction; while at the same time a fresh perspective was
given to old ideas and concepts. Eswine s work added to the discussion of expository Christ centered
preaching as well. In regard to sermon design, Eswine offered several new ideas and concepts. First,
he suggested that preachers ask, Could I now reach who I once was? . Normally preachers observer
their listeners; however, this question causes preachers to exegete themselves, motivating them to
recall their journey along the path of sanctification. Remembering where we d be without God and
then ministering to others out of that knowledge promotes empathy with listeners (11). As a result,
preachers are able to construct sermons tailored to meet the needs of their listeners since they can
relate to their struggles and situations as well as their questions and concerns.
Eswine s homiletical tools aid to connect the biblical text to a contemporary audience. The first tool
introduced was the COR, which locates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To this end, Eswine proposed another concept, discernment of the echoes of redemption . The echoes
of redemption address the redemptive nature of the text, whereby God provides the needed provisions
of grace to set things right. According to Eswine, Preachers can learn to identify these provisions from
the biblical text (50): Divine Armor, Divine Beatitude/Promise, Divine Wisdom/Fruit, Divine Gift,
Divine Diaconate, Divine Miracle, Provision of Community, Divine Silence, and Divine Self. These
provision anchor preachers to the textual situation, moreover, they echo the provisions given in
creation and what mankind is being redeemed toward (51). Implementing the FCF and the echoes of
redemption will lead preachers to make God the hero of every

Mandatory Trigger Warnings
At University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2014, the student Senate passed a resolution that called
for mandatory trigger warnings. This resolution, if it had become campus policy, proposed that not
only students who have been diagnosed with PTSD would be exempt from class for any possibly
triggering material but any student who was discomfited by the material (The Times Editorial Board).
In other words, students have the choice to decide if they attend lecture due to discomfort scot free.
According to the UCSB Newspaper, The Nexus, sophomore Bailey Loverin said the idea for campus
wide trigger warnings came to her in February after a professor showed a graphic film depicting rape.
Although she had herself not felt triggered by the film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to NPR author Anya Kamenetz, 51% out of 841 professors reported that they ve used a
trigger warning in advance of introducing potentially difficult material (Kamenetz). University faculty
and staff have increasingly used trigger warnings to alert students to the possibility that they might be
affected or even harmed by potentially traumatic material. In colleges like Oberlin and UCSB, trigger
warnings are given in assumption that universities have a responsibility to protect students from
controversial or potentially sensitive material. Joanna Williams, director of the Centre for the Study of
Higher Education at the University of Kent, points out that the entire canon of English literature could
contain warnings as to the emotional nature of the content and the issues covered (Williams 17). This
has already begun to happen as some students have called for warnings for classic works like Chinua
Achebe s Things Fall Apart due its description of racial violence, so that those students who have been
previously victimized by racism or domestic violence can choose to avoid these works, due to the
possibility of a trigger. Williams also mentions that lecturers driven by the pursuit of student
satisfaction may well choose to self censor and leave controversial topics out of the curriculum
altogether to prevent potential upset (Williams 187). One professor, in a Vox op ed called I m a liberal
professor, and my liberal students terrify me, validates this idea by writing that he was afraid of his
undergraduate students after a complaint and edited his subject material to avoid upsetting them. He
further acknowledges that his colleagues have done the same for fear of being let go (Schlosser). The
claims for a right to not be offended has essentially created a challenge for universities and their
professors to teach students to be comfortable with challenging

water saturation values at places amounts to 45.25% ~ 0.45. Thus the S_w value chosen for this

The Works Of The Renaissance Period
The artist I chose to write my descriptive criticism about is Michelangelo Buonarroti. I chose him
because his style as an artist intrigues me and I wanted to get myself involved with more of his work.
Michelangelo was born in Caprese, Italy in 1475 and died in Rome, Italy 1564 but buried in Florence .
He is a well known sculptor painter, architect, and poet whom never married. The artist had many
great works but there will be three in particular that has caught my eye that will be the focus of this
paper. All of the pieces that I will be discussing are a part of the Renaissance period . The first piece
that I will focus on is called Pieta (1499) in St.Peter s Basilica. This is a sculpture of what seems to be
the virgin Mary and Jesus after he was crucified. This sculpture is a piece that was unique to me. As I
looked at this piece it seemed in away almost life like but the way he sculpted Mary was bueatifully
done. You can see the expression on her face and even the look of her garments that she wore were
very detailed. I noticed the way this painting has a triangular approach. If u look from the top of her
head where her veil starts to flow all the way to the floor or the feet of her son Jesus that is in the
shape of the triangle. The picture shows so much emotion. It shows Jesus lifeless in his mothers arms.
You can see fine details even little nail marks in his side. Exactly what does this sculpture portray I do
not know but I do know that just from

Easter Island s A International Identity
Christy Cole

Oceanography Places:
Easter Island Easter Island s colossally international identity is mainly associated with its mysterious
moai (the island s statues); however, more recently, Easter Island is being recognized for its depleting
resources and wildlife. Apart from the tourism generated by the moai, Easter Island is a popular
destination for scuba divers due to its pristine, clear waters. There is concern about Easter Island s
ocean life as it is home to nearly one hundred fifty unique marines species that are gradually
disappearing. These aquatic species make up the island s food source as there are no large, indigenous
mammals. In addition to tourism, these fish make up the rest of Easter Island s economy. Even though
humans have played a role in devastating the flora and fauna, Easter Island s very location works
against the native life forms.
Geographic Location:
Easter Island is exceptionally isolated. The closest inhabited neighbor is over two thousand kilometers
away, and Easter Island is over three thousand six hundred kilometers away from the coast of Chile
(Van Tilburg). As Easter Island is an intraoceanic volcanic island, it was created by volcanic activity
much like Hawaii ( Easter Island ). Easter Island is located on the Nazca Plate just east of the Easter
Plate. The Easter plate is categorized as a micro plate, and it rests along the western border of the
Nazca plate (see Figure 2). Along the border between the

Thomas Becket s Argument
Position: Thomas Becket actively sought to become a martyr by setting up the perfect murder after
following a step by step the process to become holy so that he could obtain glory after death. Becket
becoming Archbishop plays a key role in his martyrdom for below the obvious guise that one must be
part of the clergy lies the true reason: being delegated Archbishop introduces Thomas to God. Thomas
himself has said that before he came to be appointed he was not a religious person, yet he ensnares
himself onto the holy web, and the spider whispers his swan song. Who could blame the man for
wishing to follow what he truly thinks is right. Compassion is one of his strengths and he proves
himself to be an honest and good natured person. He saves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There is no reason for Becket to return to England since there he is sentenced to trial. France offers
him solace and when asked how he feels about the place and whether or not he is unhappy, he replies,
No, perhaps I am too happy (Becket). Becket knows that by staying in France there will be peace.
Since Becket returns to England, he does not wish for peace. The messenger clears this up by saying,
It is common knowledge that when the Archbishop / Parted from the King, he said to the king, / My
lord, he said, I leave you not as a man / Whom in this life I shall not see again (Eliot 16). To go and
see Henry again would mean that Becket anticipates that he shall die. This explains Becket s later
actions with the knights. They intend to carry him away as a prisoner, yet that will not fit with his
plan. He in turn begins to provoke them, commanding they owe him fealty (Monk). Becket is
characterized as a man who is never surprised and thinks (Becket), so it does not surprise him when
his words lead to his

The Things You Are Covered About Careers In Class
This essay is about all the things we covered about careers in class. It is also going to be abe about
how i see my future and what career i want. A resume is something you make in order to get a job.
You write your experiences and skills. It helps by showing the boss of the job you re applying at the
skills you have. I think job resumes are a good thing and a bad thing. I think it s a good thing because
you can show all your past accomplishments and your experiences. I also think it s a bad thing
because people can lie about so many things just to get a job. A cover letter is a letter that you send
with your resume to wherever you are applying a job for. A cover letter just explaining why you would
be the right person for the job and just introducing yourself. It s helpful by telling your (maybe) future

if you get noticed by someone famous then you most likely made it but it s very difficult to get there.
Another career i am interested in is a lawyer. But in order to be a lawyer you have to be ready to speak
in front of a lot of people and be comfortable and confident with it. I get stage fright so i m not sure
being a lawyer is right for me. But on the other hand i argue very well. I believe you should do a

Demand analysis
From 1994 to 1997, the number of infants born in US is around 10 million (birth to 30months). A
baby, on average, uses five diapers per day for 30 months, for a total of 4500 diapers. At an average
retail price in the range of 18 to 27 cents per diapers, each baby represents about 1012.5 dollars in
retail sales. The retail dollar value of the US disposable diapers market was estimated to be 3.39
billion dollars in 1997. The retail dollar value of the training pants and young pants market was
estimated to be 595 million dollars in 1997.
Distribution channels
Disposable diapers and training pants are distributed principally through grocery stores, drugstores
and mass merchants. Grocery stores accounted for approximately 2 billion dollars in diapers and
training pants retail sale in 1997. Grocery store distribution of diapers and training pants has been
decreasing as a percentage of total retail sales since 1994. Grocery Stores accounted for 51.2% of
retail sales in 1997, compared with 60% in 1994.
Mass merchants and drugstores recorded diaper and training pants retail sales of about 1.9 billion
dollars in 1997. Mass merchants have increased their share of total diaper and training pants retail
sales from 30% in 1994 to 39.4% in 1997. The drugstore share of diaper and training pants retail sales
has declined from 10% in 1994 to 9.2% in 1997.

Laura and Myrtle were working in the baggage office. Laura was working the front desk and Myrtle
was in the back area. A customer entered the office aware her bags had arrived on the earlier flight and
wanted to pick them up. There was no one seated at the desk. After waiting a minute the customer

Leadership Is The Best Leadership
Leadership is fundamental to every successful process known to mankind. There must always be
someone who is willing to initiate the first step, and by example, others are given inspiration or
purpose to follow suit. Though many definitions exist, Josh Kuehler captures the essence of leadership
in business by noting Leadership is the ability to inspire motivation in others to move toward a
desirable vision. While management is focused on tasks, leadership is focused on the person. All in
all, the best leadership drives change and long lasting motivation. (Helmrich, 2015, p. 1) Given the
thousands of leadership definitions, why did I choose this one? Because it clearly highlights a clear
difference between leadership and management. Leadership is about people, not about processes, and
people enable a strong ethics program. Therefore, my belief is that leadership, not management is the
primary catalyst behind a flexible yet sustainable ethics program in any organization, private or public.
Whether establishing, modifying, or cultivating a successful ethics program, leadership involvement at
all levels of an organization is absolutely paramount.
I ll use our very own United States Air Force as an example, as I spent 23 years in the organization. I
feel confident that I can demonstrate how the Air Force has adapted the seven Federal Sentencing
Guidelines for Organizations (FSGO) requirements of an effective compliance and ethics program.

Analysis Of The Poem Norwegian Wood
Music is what allows many to relax and clear their minds but Haruki Muarakami uses it in his writing
to add another layer of complexity. In a novel filled with complicated human emotions, ambiguous
endings, and constant symbolism Murakami also adds in a multitude of musical references most
prominently from the band The Beatles. While it s easy to overlook these references as unimportant
character traits it becomes apparent as the novel continues that music is purposely bound to this novel
for a distinctive purpose. In the novel Norwegian Wood by Haruki Marakami music is used to mirror
characters, foreshadow, and be used as dramatic irony.
Norwegian Wood is not only the title of Haruki Murakami s novel but it is also the first Beatles song
we hear in the book. The song immediately becomes a important and integral part of the story because
it what originally takes us into Toru s memories of Naoko. One of the first details Toru recalls when
thinking about his time in the meadow with Naoko after hearing the song is seeing, Two bright red
birds leap startled from the center of the meadow and dart into the woods (Murakami, 6). While this
may seem like an unnecessary detail it is important to note that the song Norwegian Wood s full title is
actually Norwegian Wood (This Bird has Flown) . Because this is the song that reminds Toru of
Naoko from the beginning it seems clear that Murakami wants the reader to piece together that Naoko
has flown away from Toru. Using a

Theme Of The Tell Tale Heart
Edgar Allen Poe s, The Tell Tale Heart, takes place in the old man s house. John Doe kills an old man
because he fears the old man s vulture eyes. He plots to kill him, and succeeds. When the police
comes, John Doe felt guilty and confessed his murder. In his mind, he hears a heartbeat, in which the
reader thinks it is the old man s.Little does the reader know that John Doe does not actually hear the
Old man s heartbeat, but he thinks that the cops can hear it too, so he tries to cover it up. Soon it gets
louder and louder in John Doe s head from his guilt, and finally he shouts, Yes! Yes, I killed him. Pull
up the boards and you shall see! I killed him. But why does his heart not stop beating?! Why does it
not stop!? Finally the reader knows that it was John Doe s guilt that was pressuring him to confess,
knowing that the cops never heard the heartbeat. The theme of this story is that guilt will pressure your
conscience to confess.
First off, John Doe states, True, nervous, very very dreadfully nervous, I had been and I am mad. Just
like everyone, people tend to get an instinct when they just had committed crime. In the books, he
confesses, saying that he had done it. John Doe was driven by the old man s vulture eyes, to kill him.

Mandatory Minimums Should Not Be Mandatory
Those who oppose mandatory minimums argue that longer sentences cost too much, are ineffective in
reducing drug related crimes, and do not allow for lenience in extenuating circumstances.
The average cost of keeping a single prisoner incarcerated in federal prison for a year is approximately
$30,619.85 (Prisons Bureau, and Department of Justice), multiply that number by the typical five
years in prison mandatory minimum policy demands for minor drug crimes as well as multiplying it
by the approximate 93,262 inmates currently in prison for drug crimes (Federal Bureau of Prisons)
and the cost of long sentences required by mandatory minimums starts to add up.
In addition to the economical problems mandatory minimums contribute to, some adversaries suggest
that mandatory minimums may not even be effective, particularly in regards to reducing drug related
crimes. In many organized drug operations when one drug supplier is caught and incarcerated another
swiftly takes his place (Caulkins, Jonathan P). Furthermore, social scientists and public policy analysts
researching the effectiveness of mandatory minimums have found there to be little conclusive
evidence that mandatory minimums do in fact reduce crime (The United States Sentencing
Commission).
Another concern mandatory minimums pose is the lack of individualized sentencing. As previously
mentioned when discussing the positive aspects of mandatory minimums some view consistency of
sentencing as a favorable product of mandatory

George Rr Martin Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
George R.R. Martin, an American author, said [t]here is a savage beast in every man, and when you
hand that man a sword or spear and send him forth to war, the beast stirs. Martin notes that humans
possess a savage nature that may or may not completely alter their personality. Some individuals have
the strength to withstand their savage temptations and obey their morals. Although others may be
consumed by their innate human nature, causing them to descend rapidly into savagery in order to
achieve their goals. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, fire, the conch and the island represents
how the innate darkness of humans can cause people to go from civilization to savagery. First off, they

Music has evolved too many different forms that we recognize today. We trace this development
throughout time. Beginning in the middle ages, we have seen advancement from the Gregorian chant
all the way to the Jazz of the 20th century. The current events, politics, religion, technology and
composers can shape musical eras during time. Here I will look at the middle ages, renaissance,
baroque, classical, romantic and twentieth century periods. I hope that a better understanding can be
reached to why, when, where and who are the reasons for musical evolution.

In the world, the age saw many explorers in search of a faster trade route to China, which led to the
discovery of North America.
Musicians in the Renaissance society are now professionals and were supported by the church, city
and state as well as the royal and aristocratic courts. The rise of the merchant class brought new fans
to music professionals. With the advent of cheaper printing, music books became available and
affordable making musical literacy spread dramatically.
The musical style of the renaissance can be noted in the vocal forms by smoothly gliding melodies.
This became regarded as the golden age of cappella style, which is music without instrumental
accompaniment. Polyphony in renaissance style was based on continuous imitation. This offered many
possibilities such as cantus firmus.
Sacred music played a prominent part in ritual of the church. Motets and hymns became a part of
Mass. The motet became a sacred form with a single Latin text. Motets in praise of the Virgin Mary
were extremely popular because of the many religious groups devoted to Marian worship. Josquin
Desprez, a popular master of the motet and influencer of many composers, composed more than a
hundred motets and numerous secular pieces.
Baroque
The Baroque period stretched across half of European history. It began shortly before 1600 and ended
with the death of Bach in 1750. During this time, there were change and

The Red Guards Essay
HYPOTHESIS: The Red Guards were instrumental in carrying out Mao s ideologies within the
Cultural Revolution
In correlation to Stalin s Russia, Mao s China shadowed through the darkness of an intensive
economic crisis, generally referred to as, The great leap forward . The campaign lasted over a decade
despite the catastrophic events that made China and its economy go downhill. Although Mao s efforts
were too colossal to go unnoticed, the monstrosity of a decade lead Mao to slowly fade in the
background. Consequently, Zedong s acquaintances, Deng Xiaoping and Liu Shao chi, rose to power
to rectify the situation. Deng and Liu s attempts to restore China after the period of the great leap
forward may have been an optimistic road for the two officials. However, for Mao Zedong, it was far
from the ideologies he obtained from the very beginning. Mao s return in 1966 was merely to enforce
his socialist principles, underpinning the Cultural Revolution.

Drunk Driving Accidents Under The Influence While Driving
Drunk driving accidents happen everyday, close to 16,000 times a year, as the author of Drunk
Driving: Using Alcohol or Drugs while Driving states. People need to be aware of the dangers of
being under the influence while driving. There is a reason it is called, under the influence. Alcohol and
Drugs impair your judgment and motor skills.
Your blood takes chemicals straight to your brain and the more you take in the more troubles you will
have. When driving a vehicle you need 100% attentiveness and awareness. Not only will you cause
accidents that you could be hurt in but there will be victims of your drunk driving. Even common
drugs when taken heavily can have similar effects. Drunk Driving refers to a whole lot more than

Paganism Vs Neopaganism
When people hear the word pagan some get scared but others are intrigued. Perhaps it was the time
period that people would born into weather it was a an accepted term or it was not. Weather it was
what type of paganism were people being drawn too. Paganism is envisioned from different
perspectives due to the effect of different time eras, the comparison of historical to neopaganism, and
the way that society views it.
Paganism is viewed in many different perspectives around the world. While some people highly
advocate that paganism is earthly based and life fulfilling, others believe that paganism is associated
with the devil and witchcraft. Harvey Graham states that Pagans are inspired in their quest to
understand and celebrate the natural world by a wide range of literature, including botanical treatises,
ancient epics, archaeological reports, and fantasy fiction. (par. 5). Pagans believe in life fulfillment,

commonly connected to association with Satan. This symbol is one of the reasons why some people
are still against Wicca. Another concept that people are weary about is the fine line between sorcery
and witchcraft. Smith and Green says The lines separating witchcraft form sorcery are not clear from
one society to the next or from one observer to the next (1132 1133). Society does not fully understand

Distractions Driving is a limited freedom that should always be done in a safe manner in order for

Factor In Job Offers For Ex-Convicts By Paul Von Zielbauer
In Race a Factor in Job Offers for Ex Convicts Paul Von Zielbauer, a writer for The New York Times,
illustrates an example of conflict theory. Conflict theory states that society is in always in conflict
because people are always in competition for limited resources such as money or job opportunities.
Although Karl Marx originated conflict theory, sociologists Max Weber and Georg Simmel
subsequently expanded upon it. Weber added that different groups were affected in society differently
based on traits like race and gender and that reactions to these inequalities were moderated by
differences in social class. Georg Simmel, alternatively, thought conflict varied depending on the
emotional involvement of the parties.

Foucault s essay tended to dismiss the author from his position with respect to analyse the texts while
Barthes granted all the interpretative responsibly to the reader. Both theorists apprehended the notion
of author has no authority in directing the interpretation of their writings. Foucault, in his essay What
Is an Author? argues that the critics should not evaluate the text in relation with its author, instead,
they should analyse the text itself in the light of the its structure, basic form and its design
architecture. His brief description of author is just a discursive person. Foucault commented on
himself in his essay for being focused on a specific subject, he justifies that it is not because they were
interesting to him but because the subject may have something to do his personal life. He affirms that
his experience with the things that surround him would help him better recognize or understand them

On Guerrilla Warfare Sparknotes
In 1937, Mao Tse Tung wrote the book, On Guerrilla Warfare, as a rational appeal for survival. Mao
wrote the piece with the Chinese military in mind as his audience. During this time, the Chinese
military was preparing for the Second Sino Japanese War. Mao accessed the challenges facing China
in a possible war was their military logistics and strategy. The dynamics and logistics of the Chinese
military versus the Japanese army were incomparable. Mao recognized the Chinese army as smaller in
size and weaker in defense. Mao concluded China is incapable of defeating the Japanese army using

The United States And The Federal Convention
The United States had some fundamental problems in the late 1780 s. Many saw this and were looking
for a way to produce a national government that would be more than the virtually powerless
government the United States currently had. Pennsylvania was represented in the federal convention
by a larger delegation than any of the other states. Pennsylvania had 8 delegates at the Congressional
Convention. Those delegates were George Clymer, Thomas Fitzsimmons, Benjamin Franklin, Jared
Ingersoll, Thomas Mifflin, Gouverneur Morris, Robert Morris, and James Wilson. Benjamin Franklin

His theory required the direct election of as many representatives as possible; to him, an appointed
President was as dangerous, or at least as onerous, as a monarch. He is considered responsible for our
peculiar Electoral College. When the Convention took up the question of the President, they had a few
decisions to make: single individual or committee? Appointed or elected? And what powers should the
President, in whatever form, be able to carry out? The debate started on June 1, when Wilson almost
immediately moved that the Executive be a single person. States rightists wanted a weak executive;
nationalists a strong one. Wilson noted that each of the states had single executives; the idea is well

Chaucer s The General Prologue Essay
Chaucer s The General Prologue Chaucer the pilgrim starts out The General Prologue with detailed
descriptions of each pilgrim as he views them. When Chaucer the pilgrim arrives at the Pardoner, he
becomes very focused on his physical appearance and what is seems to be missing. There is something
odd about this Pardoner and Chaucer the pilgrim can t seem to grasp just what that is. He describes
that the Pardoner is all on fire to do is job, just arriving from Rome (Bretful of pardon, come from

Putting together his femininely smooth, boyish appearance with the neutered animal pushes the
emphasis on the Pardoner s ambiguous sexuality. This description of the Pardoner through Chaucer
the pilgrim s eyes reaffirms the other pilgrims idea of him. His character is that of a gentle yet
pompous boy, who spends much time on his own appearance, especially his hair. The Pardoner seems
to attempt to market himself as a young bachelor in front of his fellow travelers but the attempt fails
miserably. When he interrupts the Wife of Bath s prologue to say, I m getting married soon, tell me
what to do to find a good wife, he further alienates himself from the group instead of redeeming
himself as a funny person. His interruption comes off more as a need for others to see him as desirable
by a female. Another odd quality of his character is his confession of his own sinfulness. The Pardoner
commits this grievous rhetorical fault in trying to gain their pride. The other characters don t need to
announce, These are my sins, because we find out through their story what that character is like.
However, the Pardoner has to announce his sins in hope of finding a connection with the other
pilgrims, for his story does not explain his character at all. In fact, it revolts his fellow travelers
because the

The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
The Lottery, a ritual that no one has ever thought to question, which represents any action, behavior, or
idea that is passed down from one generation to the next that s accepted and followed unquestioningly,
no matter how illogical, strange, or cruel. The oldest denizen of the town, Old Man Warner, points out
that this is his seventy seventh year participating in the ritual, called simply the lottery. (Dubose 1)
The Lottery is so much a part of the town s culture, that the townspeople does not truly know what the
tradition means but rejoice at the it nonetheless. That is the force that drove the theme In Shirley
Jackson s the Lottery with her use of setting, symbolism, suspense, and characters as she exemplifies
blindly following tradition with obedience can be dangerous. The lottery is an extreme example of
what can happen when traditions are not questioned or addressed critically by new generations
because of the infamous word tradition.
Jackson lets us know the time of the lottery at the outset of the story. From the description of the men
s talk of tractors and taxes (Jackson 262) and the depiction of Mr. Summers wearing a clean white
shirt and blue jeans (Jackson 262), we may assume that we are in the twentieth century, making the
story s impact more immediate. But why does the author choose June 27 as the date on which the

Emotional Analysis Of The Old Spice Scent Vacation...
We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a conversation
with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials can appear fun or
exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of this, creating
commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers engaged. The
process isn t simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one with only
substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience s attention, but
provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of information, but does
not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance; if the balance is off by a
fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero. The Old Spice Scent Vacation
commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to advertise their new collection of
scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak of Denali (Mt. McKinley). The
commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional appeals, imagery, and appeals to
authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish benefits of switching to Old Spice, in
terms of confidence and sexual appeal.
Old Spice s use of appealing to certain emotions carries strong effects in this commercial. It evokes a

perpetrators with immoral intentions to do harm. Recently, the Texan city of Sutherland Springs

And all this has been post the Strike in terms of the powerlooms.
It needs to be understood that this is a case observed worldwide, but even so the conditions especially

Usually, the foreskin will fully separate from the glans by age 5 years, but it may separate as early as
age 2 years or as late as puberty.
When the foreskin has separated from the glans, it can be pulled back (retracted) so that the glans can
be cleaned.

Forcing the foreskin to retract can injure it and cause problems.
Children should be allowed to retract the foreskin on their own when they are ready.
KEEPING THE FORESKIN AREA CLEAN
Before puberty, the foreskin area should be cleaned from time to time or as needed.
After puberty, it should be cleaned every day.
Until the foreskin can be easily retracted, wash over the foreskin with soap and water.
When the foreskin can be easily retracted, wash the area under the foreskin in the shower or bathtub:
1 Gently retract the foreskin to uncover the glans. Do not retract the foreskin farther back than is
comfortable. The distance the foreskin can retract varies from person to person.
2 Wash the glans with mild soap and water. Rinse the area thoroughly.
3 Dry the glans when you get out of the shower or bathtub.
4 Slide the foreskin back to its regular position.
Teach your child to perform these steps on his own when he is ready to start bathing himself.
During urination, a bit of foreskin should always be retracted to keep the glans

A Research Study On Business Schools
Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education
Luke Maass
Northwest Missouri State University
Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to
graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research opportunities
that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment. Research allows the
exploration and questioning of significant issues in today s world.
This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a classroom
or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of identifying and
evaluating major issues and trends impacting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many examples of where this is already being implemented. MIT s business school has an
application for their Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP). This program has
students involved in many different research topics such as the competition in telecommunications,
the impact of direct foreign investment on developing economies, and effects of taxes on corporate
decisions. Through these types of research they can connect what is learned in the classroom with real
business challenges. Perhaps making them a bit closer to the real world (Lewis). Teachers are
modifying their traditional ways of textbook teaching in the classroom to make available the ability
for students to develop and research their ideas and or topics. This can be summarized with 3 key
features. The first is context. Learning is efficient when the student has an interest in the topic. It may
be their background or culture that help them determine their subject of research. For example a
student studying International Business may choose a topic like business technology growth in India .
Next is the nature of the student. The student researches and filters information. They actively form

Example Of A Difficult Conversation
Difficult conversation #1
What Happened According to the text the what happened conversation is where most difficult
conversation develop from, which is the heart of what is going wrong between individuals. They may
agree on the basic facts but have different interpretations of what it means. We often play the blame
game where we think they are to blame and they think we are to blame. To defuse the situation the
authors suggest adopting the And Stance, which acknowledges that both parties have different views
on the situation but both views matter.
Next, it suggests we should not make assumptions based on intentions, often we tend to jump from the
impact of the situation to the intent without asking for an explanation of why. ... Show more content

I was asked to be in my friend wedding; however my mother s health began to deteriorate around the
same time. By this time the wedding was two months away and there were many things to still
accomplish, but things were getting worse with my mother. By this time the wedding was a month
away, yet my mother was not better so I felt it would be better for me to not be in the wedding. I tried
to explain this to my friend, but we ended up in an argument although her concerns were valid I felt
my mother s health was a more pressing concern. Initially, we let our feelings and emotions control
the tone and path of the conversation, which lead to a heated argument. We were both very passionate
about our feelings and concerns and could not see past them to have a rational conversation.
Eventually we calmed down and came up with a way to avoid a problem with her wedding and time

Adventures of Death Valley National Park
This summer, Alice decided that she was going to go to Death Valley National Park in California.
There was only one problem. When Alice asked her parents if she could go, they said no. Alice could
only go if she could find at least two friends to go with her. Alice asked her two best friends, Lea and
Rachel. They said yes! Alice was so excited, This is going to be the best summer ever!
The three girls met up together at Alice s house to discuss what they were going to need to pack. What
is the weather like so I know what to pack, Rachel questioned Alice? Well, since the climate is arid
and hot, with dry air masses trapped in the valley because there are mountains on both sides, you
would probably need shorts and a tank top to keep cool. Probably, you will need shorts, tank tops,
hiking shoes, sunscreen, and sunglasses, Alice replied. A hat too, Lea inquired? Alice answered, Yes.
Alice s friends didn t really know what Death Valley was or why it was called Death Valley so she
gave a little detail about it. Death Valley is the lowest point on the contiguous U.S, which is 282 feet
below sea level. Death Valley is located near the highest point on the contiguous U.S., which is about
76 miles away. On February 11, 1933, President Herbert Hoover made Death Valley a national
monument and in 1944 Death Valley was re designated as a national park, Alice told the girls. After
the girls finished packing, they went to sleep and the next day, they drove to

A Community Mental Health Team For My First Placement
I was placed with a community mental health team for my first placement. Throughout my placement
I visited those under the CMHT along with qualified professionals. Towards the end of my placement
a gentleman who had been receiving support from the CHMT requested a hearing will the hope of
being removed from the CTO. Suffering from type 1 Bipolar disorder, the gentleman experienced
stages of mania and manic episodes. A study in this area reported that people with bipolar I disorder
experienced syndromal or subsyndromal manic or hypomanic symptoms approximately 9% of the
time over 12 years (Judd et al.,2002a) . The NICE* Guidelines recognise these presentations of mania
through several features, a sense of inflated self esteem and disinhibition, an example of this is a
difference in the person s presentation, this may cause them to talk excessively fast, pressured speech,
or louder than usual. Each of the MDT describes occasions were the adult presented signs of mania .
The managers hearing was arranged to discuss the adults appeal and to act in the best interest of the
adult (reference). Prior to the meeting, the physciaric nurse and adult spoke about his thoughts and
expected outcome. The adult was deemed to have full capacity at this present time. However, an
advocate was used to support the adult in his argument. A framework from the Department of Health
(2011) advised that advocacy should be done in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act (2005),

Irish American Drinking Habits in Literature and in...
Representations of Irish/Irish American Drinking Habits in Literature and in Popular Culture: A Self
Defeating Cycle
Introduction Stereotypes are not hard to come by in popular American culture, and truly in popular
cultures the world over. Human beings seem programmed to make quick and superficial judgments
about anyone who is or who simply appears to be different or other than oneself, equating race,
ethnicity, skin color, and/or country of origin with a set of specific attitudes, values, and behaviors that
are often insultingly oversimplified and incorrect. The United States has had more than its share of
struggles with accepting newcomers and dealing with minorities of all stripes, possibly due to the fact
that the nation has a rich history of immense immigration that has led to higher levels of multi ethnic
and multicultural interactions and social pressures than have existed in many other nations. Regardless
of the reasons behind the American propensity for stereotyping, the idea of Americans as bigots a
stereotype in and of itself is unfortunately at least partially earned by the country s history and popular
culture. The issues of slavery and civil rights for African Americans is well known racism in this
relationship still regularly rears its head in the media; only slightly less well known is the treatment of
Native Americans by the white conquerors of the continent and the current hot button topic of
immigration from Latin America. These problems have

An Internet Protocol Address ( Ip Address ) Essay
7.1 Description:
An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each participating in a
computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication.
What is an IP address
IP address is a shorter way of saying Internet Protocol address. IP addresses are the numbers assigned
to computer network interfaces. Although we use names to refer to the things we seek on the Internet,
such as www.example.org, computers translate these names into numerical addresses so they can send
data to the right location. So when we send an email, visit a web site, or participate in a video
conference, our computer sends data packets to the IP address of the other end of the connection and
receives packets destined for its own IP address.
Why do we need IP addresses
IP addresses are the numbers that enable our computers, servers, telephones, cameras, printers and
sensors to communicate with each other. Without IP addresses, we would have to copy data from
device to device manually, using CDs, DVDs, hard disks or flash storage, such as a USB drive. But
more importantly, our devices could not send data to each other without human intervention. Without
the IP addresses assigned to our computers, we would have to send paper letters and memos instead of
sending emails. There would be no streaming video sites. Instead, we would have to send each other
discs and tapes. Worst of all, we would not be able to order items online and would have to go to
stores to buy

  • 2. Reflection Of The Incredibles The Incredibles is more than a hero s journey; it also explores the ties between faith and family. Although watching this movie does not reveal this fact immediately, we can understand this film through a deep understanding and knowledge of Ostwalt s theory in his journal, Religion Popular Movies. To begin, Ostwalt outlines three categories in which films can fall into: theological, mythological and ideological. These three categories are intrinsic in nature making sense semantically but Ostwalt delves deeper into the meanings in his journal and describes instances in which viewers can relate. The Incredibles, in this case, falls under a mythological and critical lens. With this information, we can start to uncover the easter eggs that Brad Bird, the director of The Incredibles, has left for us. This film teaches us the importance of recognizing and accepting the gifts that God has given us. The characters experience growth only when they have wholeheartedly embraced the gifts that have been given to them. Once they fully accept and understand their gifts, we see them flourish. Imagine living in a time when superheroes are shunned for saving people; when helping people is a taboo. A time when superheroes like Mr. Incredible and Frozone are subjected to listening to police scanners in the night, like vigilantes, when they were originally admired by many for their kind and selfless acts; this is the setting of Pixar s The Incredibles. After being shunned by the general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Eswine Homiletical Ideals Preaching to a Post everything World offers several contributions to the art of preaching. New ideas and concepts facilitate sermon design and construction; while at the same time a fresh perspective was given to old ideas and concepts. Eswine s work added to the discussion of expository Christ centered preaching as well. In regard to sermon design, Eswine offered several new ideas and concepts. First, he suggested that preachers ask, Could I now reach who I once was? . Normally preachers observer their listeners; however, this question causes preachers to exegete themselves, motivating them to recall their journey along the path of sanctification. Remembering where we d be without God and then ministering to others out of that knowledge promotes empathy with listeners (11). As a result, preachers are able to construct sermons tailored to meet the needs of their listeners since they can relate to their struggles and situations as well as their questions and concerns. • 5. Mandatory Trigger Warnings At University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2014, the student Senate passed a resolution that called for mandatory trigger warnings. This resolution, if it had become campus policy, proposed that not only students who have been diagnosed with PTSD would be exempt from class for any possibly triggering material but any student who was discomfited by the material (The Times Editorial Board). In other words, students have the choice to decide if they attend lecture due to discomfort scot free. According to the UCSB Newspaper, The Nexus, sophomore Bailey Loverin said the idea for campus wide trigger warnings came to her in February after a professor showed a graphic film depicting rape. According to NPR author Anya Kamenetz, 51% out of 841 professors reported that they ve used a trigger warning in advance of introducing potentially difficult material (Kamenetz). University faculty and staff have increasingly used trigger warnings to alert students to the possibility that they might be affected or even harmed by potentially traumatic material. In colleges like Oberlin and UCSB, trigger warnings are given in assumption that universities have a responsibility to protect students from controversial or potentially sensitive material. Joanna Williams, director of the Centre for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Kent, points out that the entire canon of English literature could contain warnings as to the emotional nature of the content and the issues covered (Williams 17). This has already begun to happen as some students have called for warnings for classic works like Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart due its description of racial violence, so that those students who have been previously victimized by racism or domestic violence can choose to avoid these works, due to the possibility of a trigger. Williams also mentions that lecturers driven by the pursuit of student satisfaction may well choose to self censor and leave controversial topics out of the curriculum altogether to prevent potential upset (Williams 187). One professor, in a Vox op ed called I m a liberal professor, and my liberal students terrify me, validates this idea by writing that he was afraid of his undergraduate students after a complaint and edited his subject material to avoid upsetting them. He further acknowledges that his colleagues have done the same for fear of being let go (Schlosser). The claims for a right to not be offended has essentially created a challenge for universities and their professors to teach students to be comfortable with challenging ... I chose him because his style as an artist intrigues me and I wanted to get myself involved with more of his work. Michelangelo was born in Caprese, Italy in 1475 and died in Rome, Italy 1564 but buried in Florence . He is a well known sculptor painter, architect, and poet whom never married. The artist had many great works but there will be three in particular that has caught my eye that will be the focus of this paper. All of the pieces that I will be discussing are a part of the Renaissance period . The first piece that I will focus on is called Pieta (1499) in St.Peter s Basilica. This is a sculpture of what seems to be the virgin Mary and Jesus after he was crucified. This sculpture is a piece that was unique to me. As I looked at this piece it seemed in away almost life like but the way he sculpted Mary was bueatifully done. You can see the expression on her face and even the look of her garments that she wore were very detailed. I noticed the way this painting has a triangular approach. If u look from the top of her head where her veil starts to flow all the way to the floor or the feet of her son Jesus that is in the shape of the triangle. The picture shows so much emotion. It shows Jesus lifeless in his mothers arms. You can see fine details even little nail marks in his side. Exactly what does this sculpture portray I do not know but I do know that just from ... Apart from the tourism generated by the moai, Easter Island is a popular destination for scuba divers due to its pristine, clear waters. There is concern about Easter Island s ocean life as it is home to nearly one hundred fifty unique marines species that are gradually disappearing. These aquatic species make up the island s food source as there are no large, indigenous mammals. In addition to tourism, these fish make up the rest of Easter Island s economy. • 15. Leadership Is The Best Leadership Leadership is fundamental to every successful process known to mankind. There must always be someone who is willing to initiate the first step, and by example, others are given inspiration or purpose to follow suit. Though many definitions exist, Josh Kuehler captures the essence of leadership in business by noting Leadership is the ability to inspire motivation in others to move toward a desirable vision. While management is focused on tasks, leadership is focused on the person. All in all, the best leadership drives change and long lasting motivation. (Helmrich, 2015, p. 1) Given the thousands of leadership definitions, why did I choose this one? Because it clearly highlights a clear difference between leadership and management. Leadership is about people, not about processes, and people enable a strong ethics program. Therefore, my belief is that leadership, not management is the primary catalyst behind a flexible yet sustainable ethics program in any organization, private or public. Whether establishing, modifying, or cultivating a successful ethics program, leadership involvement at all levels of an organization is absolutely paramount. I ll use our very own United States Air Force as an example, as I spent 23 years in the organization. I feel confident that I can demonstrate how the Air Force has adapted the seven Federal Sentencing Guidelines for Organizations (FSGO) requirements of an effective compliance and ethics program. • 16. Analysis Of The Poem Norwegian Wood Music is what allows many to relax and clear their minds but Haruki Muarakami uses it in his writing to add another layer of complexity. In a novel filled with complicated human emotions, ambiguous endings, and constant symbolism Murakami also adds in a multitude of musical references most prominently from the band The Beatles. While it s easy to overlook these references as unimportant character traits it becomes apparent as the novel continues that music is purposely bound to this novel for a distinctive purpose. In the novel Norwegian Wood by Haruki Marakami music is used to mirror characters, foreshadow, and be used as dramatic irony. Norwegian Wood is not only the title of Haruki Murakami s novel but it is also the first Beatles song we hear in the book. The song immediately becomes a important and integral part of the story because it what originally takes us into Toru s memories of Naoko. One of the first details Toru recalls when thinking about his time in the meadow with Naoko after hearing the song is seeing, Two bright red birds leap startled from the center of the meadow and dart into the woods (Murakami, 6). While this may seem like an unnecessary detail it is important to note that the song Norwegian Wood s full title is actually Norwegian Wood (This Bird has Flown) . Because this is the song that reminds Toru of Naoko from the beginning it seems clear that Murakami wants the reader to piece together that Naoko has flown away from Toru. Using a ... • 18. Mandatory Minimums Should Not Be Mandatory Those who oppose mandatory minimums argue that longer sentences cost too much, are ineffective in reducing drug related crimes, and do not allow for lenience in extenuating circumstances. The average cost of keeping a single prisoner incarcerated in federal prison for a year is approximately $30,619.85 (Prisons Bureau, and Department of Justice), multiply that number by the typical five years in prison mandatory minimum policy demands for minor drug crimes as well as multiplying it by the approximate 93,262 inmates currently in prison for drug crimes (Federal Bureau of Prisons) and the cost of long sentences required by mandatory minimums starts to add up. In addition to the economical problems mandatory minimums contribute to, some adversaries suggest that mandatory minimums may not even be effective, particularly in regards to reducing drug related crimes. In many organized drug operations when one drug supplier is caught and incarcerated another swiftly takes his place (Caulkins, Jonathan P). Furthermore, social scientists and public policy analysts researching the effectiveness of mandatory minimums have found there to be little conclusive evidence that mandatory minimums do in fact reduce crime (The United States Sentencing Commission). Another concern mandatory minimums pose is the lack of individualized sentencing. • 47. Adventures of Death Valley National Park This summer, Alice decided that she was going to go to Death Valley National Park in California. There was only one problem. When Alice asked her parents if she could go, they said no. Alice could only go if she could find at least two friends to go with her. Alice asked her two best friends, Lea and Rachel. They said yes! Alice was so excited, This is going to be the best summer ever! The three girls met up together at Alice s house to discuss what they were going to need to pack. What is the weather like so I know what to pack, Rachel questioned Alice? Well, since the climate is arid and hot, with dry air masses trapped in the valley because there are mountains on both sides, you would probably need shorts and a tank top to keep cool. Probably, you will need shorts, tank tops, hiking shoes, sunscreen, and sunglasses, Alice replied. A hat too, Lea inquired? Alice answered, Yes. Representations of Irish/Irish American Drinking Habits in Literature and in Popular Culture: A Self Defeating Cycle Introduction Stereotypes are not hard to come by in popular American culture, and truly in popular cultures the world over. Human beings seem programmed to make quick and superficial judgments about anyone who is or who simply appears to be different or other than oneself, equating race, ethnicity, skin color, and/or country of origin with a set of specific attitudes, values, and behaviors that are often insultingly oversimplified and incorrect. The United States has had more than its share of struggles with accepting newcomers and dealing with minorities of all stripes, possibly due to the fact that the nation has a rich history of immense immigration that has led to higher levels of multi ethnic and multicultural interactions and social pressures than have existed in many other nations. Regardless of the reasons behind the American propensity for stereotyping, the idea of Americans as bigots a stereotype in and of itself is unfortunately at least partially earned by the country s history and popular culture. The issues of slavery and civil rights for African Americans is well known racism in this relationship still regularly rears its head in the media; only slightly less well known is the treatment of Native Americans by the white conquerors of the continent and the current hot button topic of immigration from Latin America. • 50. An Internet Protocol Address ( Ip Address ) Essay 7.1 Description: An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. What is an IP address IP address is a shorter way of saying Internet Protocol address. IP addresses are the numbers assigned to computer network interfaces. Although we use names to refer to the things we seek on the Internet, such as www.example.org, computers translate these names into numerical addresses so they can send data to the right location. So when we send an email, visit a web site, or participate in a video conference, our computer sends data packets to the IP address of the other end of the connection and receives packets destined for its own IP address. Why do we need IP addresses IP addresses are the numbers that enable our computers, servers, telephones, cameras, printers and sensors to communicate with each other. Without IP addresses, we would have to copy data from device to device manually, using CDs, DVDs, hard disks or flash storage, such as a USB drive. But more importantly, our devices could not send data to each other without human intervention. Without the IP addresses assigned to our computers, we would have to send paper letters and memos instead of sending emails. There would be no streaming video sites. Instead, we would have to send each other discs and tapes. Worst of all, we would not be able to order items online and would have to go to stores to buy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
