Persuasive Essay On Iran Nuclear War

English Composition 1
Research Paper Rough Draft

Iran Nuclear Deal Would you let a country who in the past has used chemical weapons against its
neighboring countries to have a nuclear weapon? In 2014, a deal was put in place to let Iran
produce nuclear energy. Iran should not be trusted with this sort of ability, because they are a
dangerous country that has used chemical weapons against its neighboring countries. Also, Iran is
planning on making nuclear weapons and if we are to let them make nuclear weapons the United
States will be in danger. The United States should not allow Iran to have nuclear energy due to
their past of lying, their desire to make Nuclear weapons, and the dangers ... Show more content on

The United States and Israel would be in danger. In my opinion if a country is willing to use
chemical weapons during war and threaten to destroy an entire country and commit genocide,
they should not be allowed to have any sort of nuclear power at all. The supreme leader even
said on a live broad cast that we had watched my senior year that said Death to America . It is
said that history repeats its self, what is happening now happened in 1938 when Prime Minister
Neville Chamberlain went to speak with Adolf Hitler about negotiation. The prime minister left
there thinking that Hitler s promises for peace were in good faith in exchange for Germanys
annex large parts of Czechoslovakia The Nazi regime was a police state and Iran is a police
state. The Nazis aim was to kill all the Jews in Europe and Iran s aim is to destroy Israel. The
Nazis hated America and what it stands for and so does Iran. The alternative to this agreement
was continuing and tightening the sanctions they were weakening the Iranian regime and greatly
breaking down its abilities to fund terror groups. Also, the stronger Iran gets the more money they
make means the more they will try and expand. The Iranian regime is a bunch of religious
fanatics who are morally from ISIS, Al Qaeda Boko haram and all the other terrorist groups. Iran is
the second highest country with executions right behind china. Iran is already one of the biggest
funders to terrorist groups so just imagine what they can do with another $150,000,000,000.
Imagine what it will do with the removal of the current weapons and missile embargo. Or the
nuclear infrastructure with this deal it will do every single

Why Respect Is Important
What Is Respect And Why Is It Importantn?
Respect takes place everywhere we go, the movie theater, school, home, and even restaurants.
Respect is an important aspect of our everyday lives. The definition of respect is having a manner
of admiration, and or politeness towards the person that you have respect for. Respect is something
that holds our entire society together and is visible in many unique ways. Respect holds our
society together because no one could go anywhere or do anything because of all of the chaos
spreading across their town or city. Therefore, there would be vandalism, no laws, and no filter on
what anyone could do. Our nation would fall apart without respect.
If you go into detail about respect our country is actually, one could ... Show more content on

For example, in school where more fortunate kids have expensive clothes etc, may not respect
and think they are better than a student that doesn t have all of those nice things that the other
student has. I have witnessed this myself, where one very popular/very wealthy student looks
down upon and doesn t respect another student with not all of the latest trendy clothes that
everyone else has. The very same situation can also happen outside of school very well as inside.
For instance, say an average minimum wage citizen passes a less wealthy man. He might see
him and try to avoid him maybe because he looks down on him and believes he is higher ranking
in society. Again, I have also witnessed this countless times. Unfortunately, this happens quite a
bit everywhere, may it be school, public, work, etc. This can really affect people s social life and
or self esteem. My opinion on this matter is that every public area should reinforce the idea of
respect, and they should also do what they can to provide for less fortunate people and try to put
more effort into stopping the respect and bullying

The Importance Of Cultural Differences Between Chinese And...
Understanding and upholding respect for different cultures should be a social norm. Fascinatingly,
the amount of various cultures around the world is humbling with no two being alike. Although,
Chinese culture has evolved through many, many years and some ancient traditions still uphold.
Face, guanxi, which broadly speaking, means connections and many other cultural normalities are
constantly changing in China, yet there is basic threshold of cultural competency that is still
important to acquire before any amount of business can be done there. Researching these specific
cultural characteristics helped me understand several key cultural concepts that must be understood
in order for useful personal and business dealings. Having a basic knowledge of Chinese history,
political, economic and social challenges the country faces is necessary background knowledge
before evening entering the country. Knowing the Chinese etiquette and understanding our cultural
differences from Western culturein comparison to the Chinese culture can only help enhance
business relations and avoid any embarrassing faux pas.
Art and Literature
There are a wide variety of differences between the Chinese and Western cultures forms of art and
literature. The differences in art between western and Chinese culture grow with the addition of the
importance of calligraphy. In the US calligraphy is not something of great importance at all. In fact
it is a very secluded and almost unknown trait or talent.

Can Continental Airlines Continue to Work Hard, Fly Right...
History of Continental Airlines
Continental Airlines began service in 1934 as Varney Speed Lines, named after one of its initial
owners, Walter T. Varney operating out of El Paso, Texas and extending through Las Vegas,
Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico to Pueblo, Colorado. The airline started with Lockheed
Vegas, a single engine plane that carried four passengers. The airlinelater flew other Lockheed
planes, including the Lodestar. It was renamed Continental on 1 July 1937 after a new owner
Robert Six had taken a forty percent ownership with Varney s co founder Louis Mueller. Six
relocated the airline s headquarters to Stapleton Airport in Denver in October, 1937. Robert F. Six

Most agreements permit airlines to fly from their home country to designated airports in the other
country: some also extend the freedom to provide continuing service to a third country, or to
another destination in the other country while carrying passengers from overseas. In the 1990s,
open skies agreements became more common. These agreements take many of these regulatory
powers from state governments and open up international routes to further competition. Open skies
agreements have met some criticism, particularly within the European Union, whose airlines would
be at a comparative disadvantage with the United States because of cabotage restrictions.

We Need To Reform Laws Regarding Marijuana Essay
Imagine that your only father is lying in a hospital bed with one of the many life threatening
ailments. The disease has left him with nothing but agonizing pain and he only has a short time to
live. Wouldn t you like to see him live the last weeks of his life not having to deal with the pain?
Sure you would, however, this would only be possible by the use of a drug called marijuana.
Cancer patients smoke marijuana to dispel the nausea and vomiting they get from chemotherapy
and to alleviate pre treatment anxiety. The drug was first recorded as a medicine in Chinese
pharmacopoeia in 2727BC (CNN Interactive). An AIDS patient might use marijuana to improve
their appetite, while it also reduces the muscle pain cause by MultipleSclerosis. It... Show more

It wasn t until the 1970 s that this law was questioned and medicinal uses were rediscovered due to
the increase in number of recreational users. On September 6, 1988, the DEA s chief
administrative law judge, Francis L. Young, declared that marijuana in its natural form is one of
the safest therapeutically active substances known to man. The provisions of the Controlled
Substances Act permit and require the transfer of marijuana from Schedule 1 to Schedule 2.
Judge Young s order that the marijuana be transferred to Schedule 2 was rejected by the DEA
(Nida Info Facts). If that s the case then how come in California they are protected under a
proposition 215 and in Arizona a proposition 200. These propositions permit the use of medicinal
marijuana by those in which it is prescribed and if you don t have a prescription you can get
caught by the police with a small quantity without going to jail. Critics of the Proposition 215 in
California say its wording is so vague it virtually legalizes pot for anyone (Hedman). In my
opinion that saves the state a lot of money by not wasting it on keeping potheads in prison and use
it for something California really needs like new roads. So why hasn t this proposition come up in
other states? It might have something to do with the same reason why same sex marriage passed in

B. The Three Essentials and useful steps and techniques
1. Shelter, Water, and Food The most important concept of wilderness survival is prioritizing
which is more important, shelter, water, or food. Survival teachers discuss a Rule of threes ,
stating You can live 3 minutes without oxygen, 3 hours without warmth, 3 days without water, 3
weeks without food. You ll die of hypothermia before you die of thirst, says Lundin, ( Eight steps
for coming back alive. Popular Mechanics 182.8 (2005): 64 69. Academic Search Premier.

before dying of starvation, that makes shelter most important, water second, and food third
a.Shelter If shelter is your car, you can increase the area a car heater warms by partitioning off the
back seat using a blanket and running the engine ten minutes each hour. If you don t have a car,
then finding an area that has no ground moisture or wetness, can turn away the wind, retain
warmth, and doesn t have any large animal feces or remains around. You should consider if you
will be able to survive with the resources around your shelter before settling there. The next most
important thing is

Catching the boys is easy, but what he doesn t count on is catching Kate as well, who is

9. Ask creative thinking questions. What might have happened if there were only girls in the tree?
What may have happened if the giant liked the taste of the soup? This is hard to answer as the
there could be so many creative answers from the students. I would focus on the students staying on

William Shakespeare s The Taming Of The Shrew
William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew is a controversial comedy that has more than 1
interpretation. The 2 prominent interpretations is that it a misogynistic play or that it is a love
story about a man liberating a woman. This play has been adapted into any movies the 2 that were
studied were The Taming of the Shrew, produced in 1967 and 10 Things I Hate About You , made
in 1999. Upon viewing these 2 movies I found that The Taming of the Shrew had a great deal of
misogyny throughout the plot. However, I found 10 Things I Hate About You was portrayed as a
love story and because of this I thought I was, until I thought about the fact that someone was paid

He then uses the technique for training birds of prey, to train her to obey him. Finally at Bianca
s wedding Kate gives a speech about being a good wife and obey their husbands. I found this
movie misogynistic, Katerina was wild and shrewish, however that is no valid reason to
physiologically abuse her. I took this as Shakespeare has created a character that tests society s
boundaries and challenges the people s beliefs, but she is then forced to marry and she is tamed
. In a way Shakespeare is sending a message that if a woman challenges society they will end up
the same as all of the other woman, obedient and a business deal. This may be ok in the
Elizabethan era but in today s society this is unacceptable it s basically domestic violence. For
this reason I believe Petruchio s behavior is horrible. He abused her for a game. In the end when
Katerina gives a speech to the crowd shows that she has succumb to the falconry .
10 Things I Hate About You is a modernised adaptation explores a teenage shrew life and the
modernised world of dating and trying to fit in . Kat, the independent 18 year old with an

Many traumatic life experiences are turned into continuous emotional problems. The individual is

Billing, or money is an important issue in the mental health industry. Surgeons operate on people
to remove tumors or repair damage. Gastroenterologists perform a procedure, identify the

a defined end. They are both paid for their service. However, on the other hand, with mental
health, the practitioner gets paid as the patient keeps returning. The gastroenterologist and the
surgeon have a goal to fix the problem while the mental health professional s goal is to see the

believe this is the very reason as to why patients can spend years enduring psychotherapy and other
forms of mental health care and actually be no better than when they came under care.

Should Assisted Suicide Be Legalized Essay
In recent years, the number of countries legalizing or considering legalizing doctor assisted
suicide continues to increase notably. While some countries have decriminalized the controversial
act of assisted suicide, in many places it remains illegal. Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands,
and certain parts of the United States are the only places where, under different terms, doctors are
legally allowed to assist patients who qualify and express a desire to, to end their life due to
medical reasons. Though globally the idea of assisted suicideis becoming less taboo, very few
countries have taken steps to decriminalize it. For various reasons, such as culture and religion,
many see assisted suicide as unethical because they believe that no one has the right to say when
someone should die. In addition, those opposed also believe the option of assisted suicide will
result in the exploitation of the health care system, from patients feeling pressured to opt for
assisted suicide, to the opportunity for doctors to malpractice. However, those who support assisted
suicide believe that if a patient decides they want to end their life they have every right to do so.
Others agree with government regulation and additional controls to ensure assisted suicide remains
humane to enable it to be the correct choice for those suffering. In the limited number of countries

Differences Between Power And Authority
Question 1: Distinguish between power and authority. Do you believe the foundation of criminal
justice organizations is power or authority? Why? Give examples in everyday criminal justice life
that reflect the differences among these concepts.
Answer: According to Stojkovic, Kalinich, and Klofas (2015), power can be defined as A
construct that underscores that importance of how compliance among subordinates is achieved (p.
288). Power can be at both a person and organizational level and there are five forms, including
coercive power, reward power, legitimate power, referent power, and expert power (Stojkovic,
Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). In contrast, authority is demoting the compliance with particular directives
essential for achieving a common or shared goal (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015, p. 290). The
three forms of author include, traditional authority, charismatic authority, and legal authority
(Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). Power can become authority over time and authority is useful
for when individuals must be supervised within an organization (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015).
I believe the foundation of criminal justice organizations is authority because everyone is trying to
attain the same goal and be successful (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). If power is distributed
among too many employees, then that could lead to role conflict (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas,
2015). It is important to have supervisors with authority over

HOW SHAKESPEARE PRESENTS ROMEO S FEELINGS IN ACT 1 SCENE 1 AND ACT 2
SCENE 2
Love is an important theme in most of Shakespeare s play, including in Romeo and Juliet because
love is a stronger force than all the animosity and forces of fate in Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo
and Juliet, Shakespeare s play, Shakespeare explores Romeo s change in attitude to love between
Rosaline and Juliet. In Act 1 Scene 1 Shakespeare introduces us to Romeo s passionate desire
towards Rosaline through the use of oxymoron, monologues and vivid imagery. In contrast, in Act 2
Scene 2, when Romeo is addressing Juliet, his language shifts through the use of light, religious and
mythical imagery to reflect his newly found romantic love to Juliet.
In Act 1 scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This notion is furthered through the use of binary opposition throughout Romeo s oxymoron O
brawling love, O loving hate . This monologue of strong contrasting images of love and hate in one
sentence suggests that Romeo finds the intensity of his emotion towards Rosaline destabilising and
his emotion is not calm and peaceful. Indeed, the deployment of oxymoron throughout Romeo s
speech such as heavy lightness or cold fire, sick health suggests that the character so overwhelmed
by his feelings that he loses the sight of his common sense and spins and turns into mad love
towards Rosaline.
In Act 2, Scene, 2 Romeo s attitude to love shifts from an infatuated love towards Rosaline to
more true and youthful love he feels for Juliet. When Romeo sets his eyes on Juliet for the first
time, he uses light imagery to express his feelings Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon . For
Romeo, Juliet is the sun who has brought brightness into his life like the sun that brought
brightness to people s lives. This beautifully romantic imagery highlights the purity of Romeo s
feelings and underscores to the reader the powerful force of love that Romeo is now entangled in.
Moreover, Shakespeare uses religious imagery to strengthen Romeo s feelings. He refers Juliet as
a bright angel , who is a winged messenger of heaven .This religious imagery highlights the
perfection of Romeo s love to Juliet

Moreover, the company s network is shrinking due to an increase in technology. With online and

Cesar Chavez Civil Rights Movement Summary
The Civil Rights Movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., played a massive role in American
history and it did so not through a revolution of savagery, but one of peace. The right to peaceably
assemble for change has always been a staple in American society, defined as a right in the first
amendment to the Constitution, ensuring that everyone could protest and call for peaceful action
without being persecuted by the government. In 1978, Cesar Chavez wrote an article addressing the
usefulness of nonviolent resistance, especially referring to Dr. King s Civil Rights Movement. His
usage of juxtaposition, logical fallacies, and unifying diction assist in Chavez s attempt to drive the
point that nonviolent resistance is the greatest way to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So is the case for Cesar Chavez and the argument he develops in favor of peaceful protests. Case
in point: Chavez makes a rather blunt claim that If we resort to violence, he one of two things
will happen: either [it] will be escalated and there will be [losses] on both sides, or there will be
total demoralization of the workers (Chavez 17 21), assuming that these are the only two
possible options creates an either/or fallacy error, it is entirely possible that there are other
options. Perhaps one side will emerge entirely victorious over the other, there are an untold
number of other options that could be available. Chavez also utilizes appeals to pity to convince
readers that his movement is morally superior to that of standard groups pushing for change.
This is evident when Chavez writes that he believes that ...when poor people are faced with a
direct appeal from the poor struggling nonviolently against great odds, they will react positively
(Chavez 27 30) and that [his movement] can gather the support of millions who have a
conscience... (Chavez 24 25). Chavez s usage of the phrase people who have a conscience alone
manipulates the logic of regular people by convincing them that if they aren t a part of
nonviolent resistance, then they have no conscience, which clearly is not the case as people can

The Pros And Cons Of Google Pixel
For years, Google has been contented with only having an indirect hand at the fiercely competitive
smartphone market.
But just last week, the California based brand shook the entire mobile industry when it announced
that it was ending its long running Nexus line and introducing a new, premium handset on the
market: the Google Pixel. So far, we like what we re seeing.
With Google s flagship phone offering so much promise on paper, we re sure you re wondering
(as much as we do) how it would fare against other popular high end smartphones. To satisfy
everybody s curiosity, we re pitting Google Pixel XL against Apple iPhone7 Plus and the Samsung
Galaxy Note 7 (the non combustible kind, of course).
Round 1: First Impression

However, one thing it does right is providing users with unlimited cloud storage for their full
resolution photos and videos.
Another thing that makes Pixel XL stand out is that it has the sharpest display of the three
devices. Although Note 7 evens this out by having the largest display and a dual edge design,
making it look more enticing than its immediate competitors. For iPhone 7 Plus, it keeps itself
relevant in this area by incorporating pressure sensitive technology in its design (3D Touch) so its
display may be more functional than both Note 7 and Pixel XL.
Verdict: Again, it s another three way tie here.
If you re someone who gives a lot of weight to specs, you ll definitely be at a loss if made to choose
between Google Pixel XL, iPhone 7 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The reason why is that all
three devices are pretty much on par in terms of performance.
Ultimately, we re guessing that selecting among the three will come down to design and software
experience. Nevertheless, we re sure you ll have little regrets picking whichever of the three as
they re all powerful, well designed flagship models that can equally amaze and

Beethoven wrote this to accompany a drama called Coriolan by Heinrich Joseph von Collin, in
Vienna in the year 1807 (Viant, K. C. Coriolan Overture, Op. 62. ). The drama is the same as the
tragedy written by William Shakespeare. The genre for this piece would be a concert overture. A
concert overture is played at a beginning of a concert and it is a one movement work in sonata
form, and it is always program music. Program music is instrumental music that is associated with
story and in this case, the story examines the problem of deposing a bad ruler and the consequent
civil unrest (McConnell, L. Coriolanus. ). The beginning of the piece starts with the strings, with
the dynamics being mezzo forte. With the addition of the flutes, it sounds mezzo piano. Near the
end, there are pizzicato, where the string instruments are plucked and the dynamics is in piano.
The tempo of the piece is moderato overall. The beginning is more allegretto and near the end it is
more adagio. The key of this piece is in C minor. Since this is an overture, the piece was around ten
minutes.
The second piece sounded more unique since there were soloists. The Triple Concerto. It was
composed in 1803 and it was the only concerto Beethoven composed with more than one soloist.
This is one of the longer pieces and continued for approximately 40 minutes. The genre of this
piece is triple concerto, where there is a large ensemble with three instrumental soloists which in
this piece are the

Humans have a unique and wonderful device in how one sees. The eye and brain work together to

According to current research there are about 800,000 ganglion cells in the human optic nerve (J.R.
Anderson, 2009,pg. 35). The ganglion cells are where the first encoding of the visual information
happens. Encoding is the process of recognizing the information and changing it into something one
s brains can understand and store. Each ganglion cell is dedicated to encoding information from a
specific part of the retina. The optic nerve goes then to the visual cortex and the information enters
the brain cells. There are two types of cells that are subcortical, or below the cortex; the lateral
geniculate nucleus and the superior colliculus. The lateral geniculate nucleus is responsible for
understanding details and recognizing objects. The superior colliculus is responsible for
understanding where objects are located spatially. This collection of cells working together is called
the what where distinction. The division of labor continues, as the information is further processes.
The what information travels to the temporal cortex, the where information travels to the parietal

Parker was known for her wit in times of turmoil, such as her lifelong struggle with depression. This
poem in particular kills the romanticism that surrounds mental illness by comparing the cons of
different methods of suicide. Acids stain you is a reference to the poisoning of one s self, most
likely with carbolic acid, which was a common method of suicide during Parker s time. I chose

It s unreal that the first semester is already over. As I looked back on the time spent in English

have such stronger writing skills. The hard work paid off and has significantly benefitted me. On
the first day of class I said, I hope I can gain the knowledge to write a strong, solid, long essay. I
hope a I can learn to transition into the new material and learning experience.
I believe I completed these goals. I wrote my longest essay in this class and I m proud that I
accomplished that. I would never know what to write before this class to make an essay so long. I
wrote all the essays in this class without even worrying that I wouldn t have enough information. I
find it ironic because my biggest concern was I wouldn t be able to make my essays long enough.
The first two essays were tough but I began to transition into the workload that came along with the
essay and it just became routine. Transition happened on it own through practicing my writing in my
essays. It amazing how much I improved; my first essay I received a seventy two percent and my
last graded one I received an eighty seven percent. Just between those two essays you can see how
my writing skills improved by fifteen percent. Although, my organization skills aren t the best they
have improved so much since the beginning essay. I ve also learnt all types of writing that can be

Marilyn Monroe Conspiracy Theory
Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles, California. Her first name was
Norma Jeane Mortensen, but she has gone by Marilyn Monroe since 1946. She ended up legally
changing it to Marilyn Monroe in 1956. Monroe s childhood was definitely a challenging and
difficult one as she was in foster care for most of it. She was sexually assaulted many times, and
even said that she was raped when she was only eleven years old. She later dropped out of school
and married her boyfriend, Jimmy Dougherty in 1942 at the age of only 16. Later on, Monroe
became a model and due to her career divorced Jimmy in 1946. Monroe later signed her first movie
contract, but didn t gain much attention until staring in the 1950s film, The Asphalt Jungle. Monroe

There was no residue left inside her to think it was from the pills so it must have been from a lethal

think that Monroe s death was murder from John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy, (with whom
Marilyn supposedly have had affairs with), saying that she knew too much about the Kennedy
family and that she was going to announce the secrets publicly to the world, and Bobby Kennedy
was in Los Angeles that weekend. Fred Otash claimed that he had bugged Marilyn Monroe s
room and had heard her screams as Bobby Kennedy suffocated her to death. The other theory is
that the Kenney s sent the mafia to go murder her. The last one was that Dr. Greenson, her
doctor, overdosed her not knowing that she was already on other medication. I later found out
that the writer of the article had no background information which led me to believe that he or
she was a fraud. If it was from lethal injection then why wasn t any needle marks found? I started
to believe another theory that Marilyn Monroe died by a dose of enema. Supposedly she was a
fan of enema, but to perform the enema dose there must have been another person to give the
lethal dose to her. So people believed it was her doctor, Dr. Greenson. I believed this, until I found
out that the article was written by an intern for the website history news network. Clearly, there is
just not enough real evidence and professional researchers/organizations to prove that Marilyn

Risk of Ammonia Injury
Ammonia is most likely to injure plants if you don t known what you re doing. Using ammonia
is especially risky if you re unaware of the pH of the soil and water that you re using, and if you
don t know the exact concentration of ammonia that you re applying. Concentrations as low as

University of California, applying ammonia too close to the plant and not deep enough can also
result in plant injury. (See References 4) You might be better off and more successful when using a

This story takes place in old Sacramento, California around the 1950 s. A lot of this excerpt from
Hunger of Memory covers Richard Rodriguez s childhood and how he has become a grown up.
He is the third of two Mexican immigrants in Sacramento and has two sisters and one brother.
Rodriguez shows his youth as unusual, because of to the battle between his private familylife and
his public life outside of the family. Before Rodriguez was seven, Spanish was the everyday
spoken language and is a part of his home, (qtd. par. 17)... Spanish seemed to me the language of

Marriage In The Canterbury Tales
Most often one looks for status and wealth in a partner. However, what happens when this is not
the case? When two people choose to marry for reasons of mutual love and loyalty to one another?
In the 14th century, this was hardly ever the case. Of the three estates, it was most likely for a
woman to marry into the first estate, then the second and rarely the third estate since the wealth
reflects onto her. In Geoffrey Chaucer s edition of, The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer goes into great
detail through the use of characters from different backgrounds about the role of the estates and
status within a marriage. In a tale told by a Franklin, Chaucer introduces this remarkable concept of

Out of the many possibilities, Chaucer to chose a Franklin to tell this particular story. At the
time the tale was written, a Franklin was not a man of noble birth. They were not necessarily
peasants, but not as high as knights either. A Franklin was chosen to tell this tale because it is
not about power or wealth. It shows how noble a person can be no matter his rank in the
community. In The Franklin s Tale, Chaucer shows the superiority of a knight but not only is he
of a high class, but also exhibits behavior that is kind and dignified. There is also a squire which
is a position typically below a knight who is just as noble. Even the magician who has no virtual
standing demonstrates that he has good morals as well. The three characters in Chaucer s tale
help to break the stereotype that only high classmen were capable of rectitude. Just as the
characters in the tale, the Franklin who tells the story hopes to break the single story as well in
his actual life. It was a very wise decision by Chaucer to have the Franklin tell the important story
he did to spread this meaningful message of nobility being separate from

Forrest Gump Historical Perspectives
Forrest Gump is a film based on a 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom and produced
by Robert Zemeckis. The film portrays several decades in the life of Forrest Gump, a slow witted,

Jenny, such as, the Hippie Movement, the Vietnam War, and the Ping Pong Diplomacy. To begin

The Emergence Of A Hazardous Concept Analysis
Definition of Technology: Hazardous or Honest?
Leo Marx, once a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Harvard graduate, wrote
an article titled Technology The Emergence of a Hazardous Concept . In this article, the author
explores the modern day definition of the word technology and argues that technology offers too
broad of a definition and is ill fitting to describe all technical advancements and their creators.
Technology can be defined as the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of
technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such
subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science (dictionary.com). On the
other hand, it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In simpler terms, Lukacs is saying that there is so much to the word technology that it all should
not be confined into one. He also believes, like Marx, that human involvement is not credited
enough. Marx also refers to Lukacs definition of reification: is what occurs when we endow a
human activity with the characteristics of a thing or things (Lukacs, 83 87). Marx proceeds to
argue that technologies are represented by things. For instance, Marx says that when someone
hears transportation technology what comes to mind are things like automobiles, airplanes, and
trains. This, in some way, distracts the person from the human involvement. Let s take an
automobile for an example. Say you have a Prius. Often times when someone talks about a car,
we think a lot about the brand. It is a well known fact that the Prius is made by Toyota. It also is
obvious that Toyota is a company made up of people who come up with ideas for cars and put them
into action. Therefore, when someone thinks about a car, they also think about the company. This
proves that we do acknowledge the fact that human creation is a huge part of technology. Marx
insists that technologies are viewed and put into a category of things . Nonetheless, it can be said
that Marx argument is invalid. Human involvement in technology is not only implied, but it simply
would not exist without humans. As stated in the above paragraph, it is clear that technology
cannot produce itself. Even when we cover the topic of technology in a history class for example,
we learn about the creation, who created, and what it does. As an illustration, think of a telephone.
As part of our education, in American history class, teachers teach us about the invention of

wins and a lofty .688 winning percentage. Their lineup is outstanding, led by young stars Jose
Altuve, Carlos Correa and George Springer, and top starting pitchers Dallas Keuchel (9 0) and
Lance McCullers (6 1). However, Keuchel is on the 10 day disabled list with a nerve issue in his
neck and may be shut down longer, considering nerve problems are very dangerous and the Astros
are running away with the AL West, currently holding a 12 game lead over the second place L.A.
Angels.

Judge became the first player at the new Yankee Stadium to hit a ball completely over the
bleachers in left field, a prodigious 495 foot blast that had retired Yankee icon Paul O Neill
laughing in the broadcast booth. Judge homered again in his next at bat, shooting a 402 foot
missile over right center field wall. The rookie leads the American League in all three triple
crown categories (21 home runs, 47 RBI, .344 BA), while also leading the AL with 54 runs scored
and 38 walks with a ridiculous .450 on base percentage.
The Yankees lead all of MLB with a +115 run differential (Houston is second at +98), and their
offense is first in home runs (102), runs scored (353), RBI (335), slugging percentage (.476), on
base percentage (.351) and OPS (.827), despite playing four less games than the Astros. New York
is also sixth in walks (237).
As impressive as the Yankees offense has been, it should get even better with the return of first
baseman Greg Bird from a lengthy stint on the DL and No. 1 prospect, 20 year old Gleyber Torres,
pushing for a promotion from Triple A to take over third base from veteran Chase Headley, who is
one of the few weak links in the Yankees lineup.
This season, the Yankees starting pitching has been a pleasant surprise as well with youngsters

A Brief Note On Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Essay
DISCUSSION In order to improve the range of the electronic nose, the following must be
considered in order to effectively detect cancers. Primarily, types of cancer must be tested to
determine if they contain compounds detectable by dogs, which would indicate that said specific
cancer contains odors that are possible to be detected through an electronic nose. Secondly, a
database must be compiled of all the different detectable compounds that are unique to each type
cancer through scientific research. After these two steps are complete, a gold nanoparticle sensor
must be designed in order detect compounds specific to each cancer. All in all, the improved
electronic nose will be susceptible to detect cancers it was unable to smell before. The following
are the steps involved in this recommendation and illustrate the processes needed to carry out this
project. Cancer Detectability Cancer Compounds Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Cancer
Detectability To be able to improve the existing electronic nose technology that detects cancers via
chemical compounds, it is required that those compounds are feasible to be detected by a dog. If
there is documented history of dogs accurately detecting a specific type of cancer in humans, or a
recent scientific confirmation that the said specific cancer is odorously detectable through the
unique chemical compounds, then the detection of said type of cancer is feasibly detectable with
electronic noses Otherwise, the cancer may not

Excellence poured roughly 25% of the store s budget into IT, including a wireless network to
link every item to an Oracle inventory database in real time using radio frequency identification
(RFID) tags on the clothes. The staff would roam the floor armed with PDAs to check whether
items were in stock, and customers could do the same through touch screens in the dressing
rooms. Each store manager was an experienced retailer and was given responsibility for their
overall exicenter implementation, including the building and IT systems. The store managers were
supported by the architects and builders and by their in house IT staff, for whom the exicenter
project was a new and exciting opportunity. Although it proved difficult to integrate the different
components of the project and the IT testing schedule was minimised to meet a revised schedule,
the project was eventually finalised. But most of the flashy technology today sits idle, abandoned
by employees who never quite embraced computing chic and who are now too overwhelmed by
large crowds to assist shoppers with handhelds. On top of that, many gadgets, such as automated
dressing room doors and touch screens, are either malfunctioning or ignored. Packed with
experimental technology, the clear glass dressing room doors were designed to open and close
automatically at the tap of a foot pedal, then turn opaque when a second pedal sent an electric

It brings positive economical, cultural, social and environmental impacts. However, if there is a
lack of planning and partnerships, the impacts can also be negative. 4.1 Negative impacts for
Bournemouth: Tourism growth when not planned cautiously can result in the degradation of the
environment and the uncontrolled development of infrastructures and recreation facilities (hotels,
parking, golf courses, etc), resulting in the fall of many resorts. The main pressures have been from
land use changes rather than pollution or species exploitation. (Woodrow et al 1996). The quality of
the Dorset heathlands has been affected by urbanization (land being relatively cheaper for urban
development), poor management practices, and afforestation. In the 19th century, Bournemouth
was a fishing settlement, with 695 inhabitants, however, it has grown significantly and in 1995, it
had 160.000 inhabitants. Recently, there has been a great pressure from housing, transports
infrastructures such as roads and tourism related construction. There needs to be a greater emphasis
on making a more efficient use of land within the urban areas (Bournemouth Housing Strategy
2003 2006, Published in 2002). Also, there is great concentration of people in the urban area of the
resort, resulting in negative impacts on public services such as health, education. One of the causes
of housing problems is the large use of land by the tourism

Fairies In A Midsummer s Night Dream
In A Midsummer s Night Dream by William Shakespeare, the struggle of balance and accord is
predominant, in many of the characters story. The mortal world and the fairy world have crossed
over many times in this play, and throughout their interactions, there has been forces of who is
superior and who is the weaker of the two. The Athenian lovers are just like any modern couples,
and they have fights or arguments at times, for example, both Lysander and Demetrius try to show
their authority and powers in their respective relationships. Puck is a mischievous fairy that tries
to mess with the mortals lives in any way possible. These interactions show to the mortals what
the possibilities the fairies have at their use, or to show that mortals are weaker than the fairies.

There are many instances of struggling with balance and accord between the two worlds, fairy, and
mortal. Puck was told to give a love potion to Demetrius for him to fall in love with Helena, but

Through Puck s mistake, he has made both Demetrius and Lysander fall in love with Helena.
This can be seen as a struggle of balance of power and accord as Puck is showing his superiority
and show to the lovers his capabilities. There is no true agreement in this part of the play, the
Athenian lovers don t agree with what has happened to them. The love potion that Oberon and Puck

Using The Conventional Shopping Processes
Abstract With an increasingly consumerist society, the crowds and queues at the markets and
stores using the conventional shopping processes, are inevitable, our aim is to change that by
making the shopping at a store and maintaining a warehouse easy through Near Field
Communication. The system that we are going to implement cuts down the costs of maintaining a
product serial number based database and most importantly saves time in the checkout process
and hence an expanding customer base for the store that it is implemented in. We intend to make
the system as intuitive as possible so that it can be easily used by people who are not very
technologically aware. We have also decided to add a recommendation engine to our app that will...

Theories on the Existence of God
There are many groups of people that have differing views on God. Does he exist? Does
he not exist? These questions can be argued with countless theories as to why he does exist and
how there is no way that he does not exist or he does not exist and there is no way that he does
exist. Theists would argue that God does exist and there is good reason to think that he exists.
Agnostics, Atheists, and Fideists, on the other hand would argue that there is no good reason to
think that God exists. For some people they have no doubt that God exists. They are convinced
by experiences, theories, or just their faith alone, that God exists while others are not so easily

Natural evil includes physical and metal suffering of animals and people.
Swinburne feels that both moral evil and natural evil are necessities for the world s good,
everyone can learn and grow from them. Why God Allows Evil also suggests that the good in
the world has to be balanced by the evil. In order to have good, there has to be some evil. This
statement carries some weight because whenever tragic events happen there is usually some
good that comes from it. For example, when the Boston Marathon Bombing took place, the city
of Boston came together to offer support for the victims and anyone involved. Swinburne
suggests that God would give us responsibility for ourselves, each other, and the world, and he
gave us free will to allow us to create and determine what sort of world we want to live in. There
are some people that believe that there is no such thing an unnecessary suffering. They believe
that suffering is a necessity of humans having free will and that free will is a good thing for
people to have and we benefit from it as a whole in our society. Suffering is necessary to build
character and develop compassion or empathy. In the argument of free will, humans must be
given the choice to do evil things and to cause suffering. Some people believe that to some
extent, how we suffer is a result of the attitudes we freely choose. Everyone reacts to situations
differently and people grieve in different ways. Some people that

The Fight For Women s Suffrage Movement
The Fight For Women s Suffrage
The Women s Suffrage Movement of the 1920 s worked to grant women the right to vote
nationally, thereby allowing women more political equality. Due to many industrial and social
changes during the early 19th century, many women were involved in social advocacy efforts,
which eventually led them to advocate for their own right to vote and take part in government
agencies. Women have been an integral part of society, working to help those in need, which then
fueled a desire to advocate for their own social and political equality. While many women worked
tirelessly for the vote, many obstacles, factions, and ultimately time would pass in order for women
to see the vote on the national level. The 19th Amendment, providing women the right to vote,
enable women further their pursuit for full inclusion in the working of American society.
The Female Advocates
These influential women are most widely known suffragist of their generation and has become
icons of the women suffrage movement. These independent, bold, and intelligent female pioneers
paved the way for so many women different races, and nationalities to come together as one for a
common cause. These women are known today as idols, icons, and activists. Those women that
took a stand when no one else would be: Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and
Lucy Stone. These women believed that all American women, just like men, deserve the rights and
responsibilities of citizenship.

Leroy Columbo Research Paper
LeRoy Columbo was known as the World s greatest lifeguard . What many people don t know
though, is that he was profoundly deaf. He saved many people during his career. Naturally, he
gained national attention. Columbo was born in Gavelston, Texas. He was born on December 23 in
1905. He was born to an Italian American family. He was one of 8 children. His father died of a
heart attack when he was a young boy. In 1912, at the age of 7, LeRoy suffered from spinal
meningitis. This caused him to lose the use of both of his legs and his hearing. His brothers then
helped him gain the use of his legs back by swimming. After this, he encountered his love of
swimming. In 1917, Columbo enrolled in the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, Texas. He
learned ASL here and immersed himself in deaf culture. After staying at the school for 6 years, he
came back home to Galveston. He started surfing here being one of the first citizens of Galveston
to do so.

the appreciation he deserved, though. Many deaf heroes don t. He also serves as an example that
the deaf can be heroes too and deserve just as much recognition as any hearing person. To me,
Columbo inspires me to reach my fullest potential, just as he did. He makes me think that if he can
do something this amazing and inspiring, and overcome being paralyzed at one point and not
letting his hearing loss get in the way, then i have no excuses to not do amazing things also at some

Symbolism In Hester s Hypocrisy
The actions of a religion or cult contribute to their outer appearance. In this case, the actions of the
Puritan religion contribute to their hypocrisy through Hester s A. This is shown Through the
symbolism of the A, how the A was supposed to make her an outcast, and Hester s social status
despite the symbolism of the A. Before the effect of the A can be analyzed, the A s meaning needs
to be explained. Obviously, the A embodies the scorn of the town, as it wouldn t have been used as
Hester s punishment if it doesn t show the colonist s disdain. However, the A embodies so much
more than that. The events leading up to Hester s punishment, meaning Hester sleeping with
Dimmesdale, were born from passionate emotions such as love, happiness

American Sports History
There s mostly two types of sports fans the old school fan, who longs for the way things used to be
and modern fans, who constantly seek the highlight reel play to make into a vine or Instagram video.
Old school fans complain that football has become too offensive, no one plays defense in
basketball anymore and that baseball is too much about the long ball and bat flipping. Meanwhile,
modern fans love it when athletes make big plays and could care less about traditions or how
things used to be. For younger fans, sports have changed with the times, and it s best to get on
board or get out of the way.
One thing that almost every fan can agree on, though, is that the value of seeing a sport live has
diminished. Because of inflated ticket ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most matches are 90 minutes, plus a few stoppage time minutes at the referees discretion. You can
set your schedule, knowing you ll be at the game around two hours and less often more. Knowing
how long matches will roughly be can make travel plans, as well as after match plans, much easier
to manage. While triple overtime contests and marathon baseball games are thrilling, some fans
have to choose between watching the end of the game or keeping plans made for after.
While changes have been made regarding player fitness, equipment and rules, the fundamentals of
soccer are essentially unchanged. Fans with modern and old school mentalities can both come away
satisfied. A great defensive team can win the World Cup, while an offensive juggernaut can
steamroll its way to a championship just the same.
As for criticisms of the sport, soccer does have a long history of corruption, and many of the
players and officials aren t likable. There is a maddening degree of flopping , though to be fair,
the tactic has also become a trend in basketball and hockey to an extent. Likewise in baseball and
football, players fake injuries to get advantages, most often pretending to be hit by a pitch or
taking a knee to stop a football team s hurry up offense. Some detest the aspect in sports, while
others call it

sitcom takes place in the fictional town of Pawnee. The show tells the story of Leslie Knope, a

One example occurs in season two when Leslie Knope becomes a judge for the Miss Pawnee
beauty pageant and attempts to do the impossible: have a winner based upon merit rather than
appearance. After the contestants went through, the judges congregated off to the side to select a
winner. All the judges came to a consensus, except for Leslie. Leslie believed objectifying the
contestants solely upon physical beauty demeaned the contestants and that the judges should
consider merit in deciding the winner. However, the other judges did not care about merit and
believed beauty should decide the winner. Before announcing the winner, Leslie tried to
persuade the judges to view her side, but she failed. Becoming irate, Leslie wanted her
sentiments heard, This isn t the first time that Susan s have lost to Trish s and it won t be the last.
Susan and I will continue on until the women of Pawnee are judged not by the flatness of their
tummies, but by the contents of their brains. Another example transpires in season seven during
the Pie Mary episode. During the episode, Leslie opts out of the Pie Mary, a Southern Indiana
tradition where congressional candidate s wives face off in a pie baking contest, because she
believes it is retrogressive and misogynistic. However, her decision ends up creating a controversy
between the media and the campaign. The media attacks Leslie for not being the traditional

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Iran Nuclear War Quinton Lewis Professor. M. Uralrith M.Ed. English Composition 1 Research Paper Rough Draft 11/9/15 Iran Nuclear Deal Would you let a country who in the past has used chemical weapons against its neighboring countries to have a nuclear weapon? In 2014, a deal was put in place to let Iran produce nuclear energy. Iran should not be trusted with this sort of ability, because they are a dangerous country that has used chemical weapons against its neighboring countries. Also, Iran is planning on making nuclear weapons and if we are to let them make nuclear weapons the United States will be in danger. The United States should not allow Iran to have nuclear energy due to their past of lying, their desire to make Nuclear weapons, and the dangers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United States and Israel would be in danger. In my opinion if a country is willing to use chemical weapons during war and threaten to destroy an entire country and commit genocide, they should not be allowed to have any sort of nuclear power at all. The supreme leader even said on a live broad cast that we had watched my senior year that said Death to America . It is said that history repeats its self, what is happening now happened in 1938 when Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain went to speak with Adolf Hitler about negotiation. The prime minister left there thinking that Hitler s promises for peace were in good faith in exchange for Germanys annex large parts of Czechoslovakia The Nazi regime was a police state and Iran is a police state. The Nazis aim was to kill all the Jews in Europe and Iran s aim is to destroy Israel. The Nazis hated America and what it stands for and so does Iran. The alternative to this agreement was continuing and tightening the sanctions they were weakening the Iranian regime and greatly breaking down its abilities to fund terror groups. Also, the stronger Iran gets the more money they make means the more they will try and expand. The Iranian regime is a bunch of religious fanatics who are morally from ISIS, Al Qaeda Boko haram and all the other terrorist groups. Iran is the second highest country with executions right behind china. Iran is already one of the biggest funders to terrorist groups so just imagine what they can do with another $150,000,000,000. Imagine what it will do with the removal of the current weapons and missile embargo. Or the nuclear infrastructure with this deal it will do every single ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why Respect Is Important What Is Respect And Why Is It Importantn? Respect takes place everywhere we go, the movie theater, school, home, and even restaurants. Respect is an important aspect of our everyday lives. The definition of respect is having a manner of admiration, and or politeness towards the person that you have respect for. Respect is something that holds our entire society together and is visible in many unique ways. Respect holds our society together because no one could go anywhere or do anything because of all of the chaos spreading across their town or city. Therefore, there would be vandalism, no laws, and no filter on what anyone could do. Our nation would fall apart without respect. If you go into detail about respect our country is actually, one could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in school where more fortunate kids have expensive clothes etc, may not respect and think they are better than a student that doesn t have all of those nice things that the other student has. I have witnessed this myself, where one very popular/very wealthy student looks down upon and doesn t respect another student with not all of the latest trendy clothes that everyone else has. The very same situation can also happen outside of school very well as inside. For instance, say an average minimum wage citizen passes a less wealthy man. He might see him and try to avoid him maybe because he looks down on him and believes he is higher ranking in society. Again, I have also witnessed this countless times. Unfortunately, this happens quite a bit everywhere, may it be school, public, work, etc. This can really affect people s social life and or self esteem. My opinion on this matter is that every public area should reinforce the idea of respect, and they should also do what they can to provide for less fortunate people and try to put more effort into stopping the respect and bullying ... • 4. The Importance Of Cultural Differences Between Chinese And... Understanding and upholding respect for different cultures should be a social norm. Fascinatingly, the amount of various cultures around the world is humbling with no two being alike. Although, Chinese culture has evolved through many, many years and some ancient traditions still uphold. Face, guanxi, which broadly speaking, means connections and many other cultural normalities are constantly changing in China, yet there is basic threshold of cultural competency that is still important to acquire before any amount of business can be done there. Researching these specific cultural characteristics helped me understand several key cultural concepts that must be understood in order for useful personal and business dealings. Having a basic knowledge of Chinese history, political, economic and social challenges the country faces is necessary background knowledge before evening entering the country. Knowing the Chinese etiquette and understanding our cultural differences from Western culturein comparison to the Chinese culture can only help enhance business relations and avoid any embarrassing faux pas. Art and Literature There are a wide variety of differences between the Chinese and Western cultures forms of art and literature. The differences in art between western and Chinese culture grow with the addition of the importance of calligraphy. In the US calligraphy is not something of great importance at all. Most agreements permit airlines to fly from their home country to designated airports in the other country: some also extend the freedom to provide continuing service to a third country, or to another destination in the other country while carrying passengers from overseas. In the 1990s, open skies agreements became more common. These agreements take many of these regulatory powers from state governments and open up international routes to further competition. Open skies agreements have met some criticism, particularly within the European Union, whose airlines would be at a comparative disadvantage with the United States because of cabotage restrictions. The disease has left him with nothing but agonizing pain and he only has a short time to live. Wouldn t you like to see him live the last weeks of his life not having to deal with the pain? Sure you would, however, this would only be possible by the use of a drug called marijuana. Cancer patients smoke marijuana to dispel the nausea and vomiting they get from chemotherapy and to alleviate pre treatment anxiety. The drug was first recorded as a medicine in Chinese pharmacopoeia in 2727BC (CNN Interactive). It wasn t until the 1970 s that this law was questioned and medicinal uses were rediscovered due to the increase in number of recreational users. On September 6, 1988, the DEA s chief administrative law judge, Francis L. Young, declared that marijuana in its natural form is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man. The provisions of the Controlled Substances Act permit and require the transfer of marijuana from Schedule 1 to Schedule 2. Judge Young s order that the marijuana be transferred to Schedule 2 was rejected by the DEA (Nida Info Facts). If that s the case then how come in California they are protected under a proposition 215 and in Arizona a proposition 200. These propositions permit the use of medicinal marijuana by those in which it is prescribed and if you don t have a prescription you can get caught by the police with a small quantity without going to jail. Critics of the Proposition 215 in California say its wording is so vague it virtually legalizes pot for anyone (Hedman). In my opinion that saves the state a lot of money by not wasting it on keeping potheads in prison and use it for something California really needs like new roads. So why hasn t this proposition come up in other states? It might have something to do with the same reason why same sex marriage passed in one state but has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Have students verify their predictions. Before we began reading the story, we made some predictions on what the story was about. Who got their predictions correct? Excellent! You were able to look at the information of the title and the picture and predict what the story was about. Who didn t predict the same as the story? What was different in your prediction? For the students who share the prediction that was different from the story, have them compare with the class why their prediction was different. 11. • 10. William Shakespeare s The Taming Of The Shrew William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew is a controversial comedy that has more than 1 interpretation. The 2 prominent interpretations is that it a misogynistic play or that it is a love story about a man liberating a woman. This play has been adapted into any movies the 2 that were studied were The Taming of the Shrew, produced in 1967 and 10 Things I Hate About You , made in 1999. Upon viewing these 2 movies I found that The Taming of the Shrew had a great deal of misogyny throughout the plot. However, I found 10 Things I Hate About You was portrayed as a love story and because of this I thought I was, until I thought about the fact that someone was paid to take her out was a nasty thing to do. Finally at Bianca s wedding Kate gives a speech about being a good wife and obey their husbands. I found this movie misogynistic, Katerina was wild and shrewish, however that is no valid reason to physiologically abuse her. I took this as Shakespeare has created a character that tests society s boundaries and challenges the people s beliefs, but she is then forced to marry and she is tamed . In a way Shakespeare is sending a message that if a woman challenges society they will end up the same as all of the other woman, obedient and a business deal. This may be ok in the Elizabethan era but in today s society this is unacceptable it s basically domestic violence. For this reason I believe Petruchio s behavior is horrible. He abused her for a game. In the end when Katerina gives a speech to the crowd shows that she has succumb to the falconry . 10 Things I Hate About You is a modernised adaptation explores a teenage shrew life and the modernised world of dating and trying to fit in . Though globally the idea of assisted suicideis becoming less taboo, very few countries have taken steps to decriminalize it. For various reasons, such as culture and religion, many see assisted suicide as unethical because they believe that no one has the right to say when someone should die. • 15. Differences Between Power And Authority Question 1: Distinguish between power and authority. Do you believe the foundation of criminal justice organizations is power or authority? Why? Give examples in everyday criminal justice life that reflect the differences among these concepts. Answer: According to Stojkovic, Kalinich, and Klofas (2015), power can be defined as A construct that underscores that importance of how compliance among subordinates is achieved (p. 288). Power can be at both a person and organizational level and there are five forms, including coercive power, reward power, legitimate power, referent power, and expert power (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). In contrast, authority is demoting the compliance with particular directives essential for achieving a common or shared goal (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015, p. 290). The three forms of author include, traditional authority, charismatic authority, and legal authority (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). Power can become authority over time and authority is useful for when individuals must be supervised within an organization (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). I believe the foundation of criminal justice organizations is authority because everyone is trying to attain the same goal and be successful (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). If power is distributed among too many employees, then that could lead to role conflict (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). It is important to have supervisors with authority over ... HOW SHAKESPEARE PRESENTS ROMEO S FEELINGS IN ACT 1 SCENE 1 AND ACT 2 SCENE 2 Love is an important theme in most of Shakespeare s play, including in Romeo and Juliet because love is a stronger force than all the animosity and forces of fate in Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare s play, Shakespeare explores Romeo s change in attitude to love between Rosaline and Juliet. In Act 1 Scene 1 Shakespeare introduces us to Romeo s passionate desire towards Rosaline through the use of oxymoron, monologues and vivid imagery. Indeed, the deployment of oxymoron throughout Romeo s speech such as heavy lightness or cold fire, sick health suggests that the character so overwhelmed by his feelings that he loses the sight of his common sense and spins and turns into mad love towards Rosaline. In Act 2, Scene, 2 Romeo s attitude to love shifts from an infatuated love towards Rosaline to more true and youthful love he feels for Juliet. Of the three estates, it was most likely for a woman to marry into the first estate, then the second and rarely the third estate since the wealth reflects onto her. There is also a squire which is a position typically below a knight who is just as noble. Even the magician who has no virtual standing demonstrates that he has good morals as well. Leo Marx, once a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Harvard graduate, wrote an article titled Technology The Emergence of a Hazardous Concept . In this article, the author explores the modern day definition of the word technology and argues that technology offers too broad of a definition and is ill fitting to describe all technical advancements and their creators. Technology can be defined as the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science (dictionary.com). He also believes, like Marx, that human involvement is not credited enough. Marx also refers to Lukacs definition of reification: is what occurs when we endow a human activity with the characteristics of a thing or things (Lukacs, 83 87). Marx proceeds to argue that technologies are represented by things. For instance, Marx says that when someone hears transportation technology what comes to mind are things like automobiles, airplanes, and trains. This, in some way, distracts the person from the human involvement. Let s take an automobile for an example. Say you have a Prius. Often times when someone talks about a car, we think a lot about the brand. It is a well known fact that the Prius is made by Toyota. It also is obvious that Toyota is a company made up of people who come up with ideas for cars and put them into action. Therefore, when someone thinks about a car, they also think about the company. This proves that we do acknowledge the fact that human creation is a huge part of technology. Marx insists that technologies are viewed and put into a category of things . Nonetheless, it can be said that Marx argument is invalid. Human involvement in technology is not only implied, but it simply would not exist without humans. As stated in the above paragraph, it is clear that technology cannot produce itself. Even when we cover the topic of technology in a history class for example, we learn about the creation, who created, and what it does. As an illustration, think of a telephone. As part of our education, in American history class, teachers teach us about the invention of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Brief Note On Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Essay DISCUSSION In order to improve the range of the electronic nose, the following must be considered in order to effectively detect cancers. Primarily, types of cancer must be tested to determine if they contain compounds detectable by dogs, which would indicate that said specific cancer contains odors that are possible to be detected through an electronic nose. Secondly, a database must be compiled of all the different detectable compounds that are unique to each type cancer through scientific research. After these two steps are complete, a gold nanoparticle sensor must be designed in order detect compounds specific to each cancer. All in all, the improved electronic nose will be susceptible to detect cancers it was unable to smell before. The following are the steps involved in this recommendation and illustrate the processes needed to carry out this project. Cancer Detectability Cancer Compounds Gold Nanoparticle Sensor Augmentation Cancer Detectability To be able to improve the existing electronic nose technology that detects cancers via chemical compounds, it is required that those compounds are feasible to be detected by a dog. If there is documented history of dogs accurately detecting a specific type of cancer in humans, or a recent scientific confirmation that the said specific cancer is odorously detectable through the unique chemical compounds, then the detection of said type of cancer is feasibly detectable with electronic noses Otherwise, the cancer may not ... The main pressures have been from land use changes rather than pollution or species exploitation. (Woodrow et al 1996). He makes me think that if he can do something this amazing and inspiring, and overcome being paralyzed at one point and not letting his hearing loss get in the way, then i have no excuses to not do amazing things also at some point in my ... Old school fans complain that football has become too offensive, no one plays defense in basketball anymore and that baseball is too much about the long ball and bat flipping. Meanwhile, modern fans love it when athletes make big plays and could care less about traditions or how things used to be. For younger fans, sports have changed with the times, and it s best to get on board or get out of the way.
