Why Do Minorss Use Social Media
Jacob O Hara 3rd Minors and Social Media People have used cell phones since they first came out and
many people love them. People use them night and day and cant get enough of them. I believe minors
should use social media because it s how everybody communicates and is informed about what s
happening in the world. Minors should use social media because it gives them a social life. CNN says
that most people communicate over social media and interact with others, like their friends or just
random people. If CNN says that people everywhere talk on social media then minors should be able
to interact as well so they can be informed about what s going on and do what everyone else does. In
addition minors use social media so they can make

Central Auditory Processing Disorder
Except for outwardly appearances, speech may be the one of the most defining elements of a person s
identity, psychologists generally consider language a prime manifestation of underlying cognitive
processes (Solso, MacLin, MacLin, 2008, p. 468). Just by listening over the phone, I can tell whether
a family member is feeling positive, in ill health, or worried about events in their lives. Should vocal
language be the only measure of underlying cognitive processes?
As a small child, it was frustrating to not be able to make the adults in my life understand me. Many
years later after development of the brainstem auditory evoked response test (BAER), a doctor who it
seemed was always on the cutting edge of his science and working with neurologists at the old
Lovelace Medical Center, tested my hearing using the BAER . For me, the results of this test were life
changing because for the first time in 28 years my not being able to understand much of the
conversation around me and consequently, my ability to communicate had a name a diagnosis central
auditory processing disorder I heard at two different speeds and both were at a slower rate than that of
the general population.
The BAER measures latency in milliseconds or in layman terms, the BAER measures the length of
time it takes for sound to travel from the ear to the brain stem (Ness, 2009). An important benefit of
the BAER is that it can be easily used for diagnosis of auditory processes in infants and young

Biotic Factors In Hawaii
Plants are found everywhere on earth, up high on the ridge and down low in caves and caverns. The
types of plants that live in these places depends on many factors. These factors are separated into two
different categories, the biotic factors and the abiotic factors. Some of the biotic factors include,
predation, competition, and habitat destruction. Plants with limited competition and large amounts of
resources will be in a higher abundance than plants with limited resources and higher competition
rates will be confined to areas and either out competed or will be the dominant species. Certain plants
adapt to these factors and thrive and others don t do as well. Some of the abiotic factors include,
sunlight, water, temperature, and wind. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ridge is known as an endangered dry ridge hike, for its endemic species and dry climate (Nelson
2003). The ridge trail starts on dole street near the university of Hawaii at Manoa. From the campus,
the ridge seems dry and grassy and it is expected as a dry leeward side ridge. This ridge is also known
for its brush fires during the hot seasons, the most recent being the fire in 2007. The fire left 50 acre of
the ridge scorched and burned to the ground (Siopack 2007). But, now in 2016 there has been an
increasing amount of rain and the ridge has since begun to heal since the fire. The beginning of the
trail starts off dry with rocky soil and the dominant vegetation being the M. maximus that has a yellow
brownish color. The vegetation isn t completely covering the soil; it is mostly clumped together. As
you continue to move up the trail the vegetation starts to get a little greener and thicker. The M.
maximus gets thicker, greener, and more dominant. The soil is still rocky and dry, but there are a few
different species such as the air plants and small shrubs. More of a change is seen further up the ridge
once you are out of the tall grasses. The land is moister and has a wide range of tree species and
woody area. There was an abundance of Haole Koa trees, thorny bastards, all spice, and strawberry
guava. It was a large change from an open canopy of large

Refugee Crisis In America
Answer:
In the dreaded times that of ours, the world is confronted with multilateral conflicts ranging from
Crimea to Syria, civil wars in Sudan to terrorism in Nigeria and Iraq, to Saudi military intervention in
Yemen to Climatic refugee exodus in South Asia and Latin America. The nature of the refugee crisis is
complex and unprecedented in the history of mankind.

USNAApplication Essay Examples
The US Naval Academy (USNA) is a center of structure and discipline as such as it is a university.
The Academy offers a unique take on military and college life by combining the two, and with great
success. I want to go to USNA for numerous reasons including academics., dedication to something
greater than oneself, structure, the navy, and more. The Academy offers rich and rigorous academics.
This includes French, which would allow me to continue taking it and improve my fluency. In
addition, it offers majors that interest me including Aerospace Engineering and History. By attending
the Academy I would be dedicating and committing myself to a purpose, much greater than myself or
anyone else. The level of dedication offered appeals to me on a personal level as well as a desire to
serve others. The structure of the USNA would allow me thrive. I work best in a structured
environment, and I believe the Academy will allow me to achieve my best self morally and

Wizard Of Oz
The Wonderfully written and film called the Wizard of Oz was first published in Chicago in 1900. The
author, L. Frank Baum, was the editor of a South Dakota newspaper and who also supported William
Jennings Bryan who happened to win three times, uneventfully, as a U.S. Presidential candidate for
the Democratic Party. The main concern of Baum and Bryan was the nature of the money supply in
the United States, and in the Mid Western States in their concern. In America during the 1890s, in
Britain, there had been a severe depression. Several businesses had gone bankrupt, all farmers were
forced to sell up all they had owned, factories closed, and workers made the unemployed list. Baum
and Bryan wanted money to be based on silver, and as for silver, ... Show more content on

Next, Dorothy encounters a Tin Woodsman, representing the industrial workers in the Mid West,
rusted as solid in the factories of the 1890s depression, and who have lost all of heir sense of

he swung his axe, he chopped off a bit of himself. Then as they growing party continues, they

power of the one an only Congress and of course the Constitution, to therefore confront the Wicked

Dorothy is able to motivate these three great forces and lead them all towards the Emerald City, and an

Comparing Mariana And The Lady Of Shalott
The poetry written during the Industrial Revolution reflects the mentality of 19th century British
citizens with anxious, questioning tones, and the desire for returning to simpler times with romantic
ideals. Both Mariana and The Lady of Shalott evoke questions about the place for women during the
Industrial Revolution because Lord Alfred Tennyson characterizes both female characters as
vulnerable in the absence of a man. The portrayal of the characters Mariana and The Lady of Shalott
as weak is evident in the settings of each poem because they reside in trapped and abandoned spaces,
are easily controlled by their surroundings, and the dark and lightless worlds they both live in without
a man. Exploring how the troubling settings mirror ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To illustrate their importance in relation to women s lives, men are depicted as the essence of light
within Victorian poetry, and in their absence women are forced to live in dejected shadows. Mariana is
completely devoid of any light within her life and constantly laments, [m]y life is dreary ( Mariana 9)
with her only scenery being an overgrown garden and a treeless expanse which she calls level waste,

Desmond Tutu Statement On Oppression
Humanity has always oppressed and discriminated against one another since the beginning of time.
Never at a point in history has everyone been completely equal in their civil rights and treatment.
Whether the discrimination stems from the color of one s skin to their religious beliefs to anything that
separates them from the larger population, a target has been placed upon them for others to attack. In
this paper I will investigate how Desmond Tutu s statement on oppression relates to primary texts that
I viewed during the course of this semester.
As Desmond Tutu stated, If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the
oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse
will not appreciate your neutrality. (1984) This example has been illustrated in human treatment of one
another since the start of recorded history. Those who are viewed as different were persecuted in a
variety of ways such as Perpetua being imprisoned and sentenced to death for her religious beliefs to
that of Martin Luther King Jr. who was murdered due to his advocating of equal rights for all.
Neutrality in situations of injustice helps nobody but the oppressor

Security Analysis And It Security Policy Manager At My...
In writing this paper I spoke with Security Analysis and IT Security Policy Manager at my place of
employment when researching this paper. They gave me some insightful direction as to the
information, where to look for information and the important security issues to reference. Working in
IT for the last 10 years I have also had to deal with many of these policies first hand. Additionally, I
referenced the PowerPoints presented in class and The CISSP and CAP Prep Guide: Platinum Edition
that I purchased and used for the quiz in class.
When discussing the topic of information security there are many concepts, elements and topics to
discuss. Some of the information to be discussed here are the ten domains of Computer Information
Systems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a company that I made up just for name sake of this paper. This is not a comprehensive list
however will point out some of the more important points.
To begin with, any security professional must take in to account the three fundamentals of principles
of Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) that set the security posture for an organizations
information security department. Integrity ensures that unauthorized alteration to information is not
made, alterations are not made by unauthorized personnel, and the information is reliable both
internally and externally. Confidentiality unauthorized release of information, regardless if the release
is internally or externally. Availability for the users to be able to access the data in a consistent and
timely manner that will add value to their job is also necessary.
The process and choice of classifying information is very important. Data of different types have
different values to the owner of the information. Some data may be of more value or critical
importance than other data. Certain information is therefore valuable, and if lost could cause great
financial loss.
Total Layer IT will classify its information using the terms Public, Sensitive, Private, and Confidential
based on the information s value, age, useful life, and personal association. Based upon the business
needs certain groups will have access to these various levels of information.

health care system is a nationwide, comprehensive financial issue that impacts the individual premium
holder, to the providers, hospitals, and medical supply and drug companies, the state and federal
governments, and health insurance providers. The one thing I learned from these readings especially
the 11th Circuit Court decision is that even if a person does not want or has insurance, it still impacts
everyone else when they require unexpected care. It creates cost shifting problems that everyone else
has to pick up the tab for. In the reading, the Court identifies the perspective in which Congress was

How Does Hinton Use Symbols In The Outsiders
What is symbolism and how can it be used to enhance the storyline? S.E Hinton uses symbolism in the
novel, The Outsiders, in these ways. S.E. Hinton enhances the story with sunsets by making
something that Socs and Greasers can have the same opinion about, which is peacefulness. She also
uses the Greasers hair to make a difference between the Socs and the Greasers because each gang
prefers their hairstyles differently. The most important symbol S.E. Hinton uses it the blue Mustang,
she uses blue Mustangs to intensify the story and make it more exciting.
There is a symbol that reoccurs throughout The Outsiders to enhance the plot which is the blue
Mustang. When this symbol is used it usually refers that danger is near or approaching one of the main
characters. This symbol is used on page 36, We all looked and saw a blue Mustang coming down the
street. Johnny made a small noise in his throat and when I looked at him he was white . The blue
Mustang enhances the storyline by making a suspense in the plot. The suspense is made to excite the
reader to continue to read and stay interested in the novel. For example, on page 36 the blue Mustang
pulls up and Two bit, Johnny, Marica, Cherry and Ponyboy get scared. The blue Mustang creates a

enhances the plot of the story because S.E. Hinton wanted to show that Socs and Greasers have some
things in common and using sunsets was the perfect way to do it. This is how S.E. Hinton uses sunsets

Bearing witness
When we encounter a Holocaust survivor, a lot of questions come to our mind. We start to wonder
how did they manage to survive. We tend to assume that once the Holocaust was over, survivors began
to reestablish their lives and their pain disappeared. However, Holocaust survivors suffered, and even
after 70 years after the liberation, Holocaust survivors still experience difficulties on their day to day
basis. In the years followed the Holocaust they struggled with their painful memories while attempting
to renew their lives, most of them in new countries. The Holocaust was one of the greatest massacres
against humanity. As time goes by, the Holocaust survivors memories start to fade. The obligation to

Even in this place one can survive, and therefore one must want to survive, to tell the story, to bear
witness; and that to survive we must force ourselves to save at least the skeleton, the scaffolding, the
form of civilization. We are slaves, deprived of every right, exposed to every insult, condemned to
certain death, but we still possess one power, and we must defend it with all our strength for it is the
last the power to refuse our consent. Primo Levi, Survival in Auschwitz.
Just like Primo Levi, many Holocaust survivors wrote books to keep their memory alive. Ernest W.
Michel is a Holocaust survivor that his calligraphy skills saved his life. As he was walking to the gas
chamber, an SS officer asked the crowd who knew how to write. Ernest quickly raised his hand and
started writing death certificates. Ernest is 89 years now, and his way of bearing witness is by going
around the world telling his story. Due to his age, he keeps his memory alive by writing flash cards to
remember the struggle he went through. Many Holocaust survivors do things like Michel to keep their
memory alive, not just for them, but also for the

Recruiting And Retention Non Commissioned Officer
As I begin my journey as a RRNCO (Recruiting and Retention Non Commissioned Officer) there will
be many obstacles that I will have to overcome to be the best recruiter I can be. I want to be able to
give others the same opportunities the National Guard offered to me. I was not always supportive of
the military, but in the end I owe all my success to the time I spent in the Army National Guard.
Throughout this paper I will be showing different statistics or demographics of the high school I feel is
the most important school I need to focus on. When I start to look at the school year, I have to devote
certain time and effort, so I need to develop a school program that will help generate leads and
referrals. By conducting presentations about the ARNG (Army National Guard) on such topics as the
role of the ARNG, state/federal missions, features and benefits, employment opportunities and ARNG
history.(NGR 601 1 2 18(f)) My yearly plan will be broken down month by month. This school plan
will help me build and sustain relationships throughout the FY (Fiscal Year). The soldiers I enlist will
be joining the Ohio Army National Guard.
Demographics
My area is very widespread because most of my schools are located in rural environment, which
means, I do a lot of driving from town to town. The assigned area that I will be discussing is located in

Enoch Arden
Professor Beggs English 101 MW12 17 September 2009 Enoch Arden s Charity and Goodwill In
Alfred Tennyson s poem of skilled writing, Enoch Arden , Enoch leaves his family to better serve
them as a husband and father. The poem firmly establishes the perplexity of one s generous
personality. Enoch leaves his family to better the lives for each of them in a manner that reflects a
view of personal toil and hardship to support the family in economic downfall. Also in Enoch s
absence it is written that Philip Ray provides for Enoch s children and wife Annie Lee, enabling the
thought of generosity and charitable goodwill toward the character. As we are now living in the twenty

The poem comes out and states Miriam s good character, Miriam Lane was good and garrulous.
Though her talkative personality she does not tell Annie nor Philip of Enoch s return. She promises
twice to Enoch that she d give his blessings to his family and to announce his death as Enoch repeats
his wishes to her on his deathbed. As these examples can now be seen self evident; there is no
argument to not see this poem as not a literary work of art but a reinforcement of charity and goodwill.
This work can be compared to any revolutionary writing; Enoch Arden revolutionizes today s world
by inspiring one to become charitable and goodwilled. Enoch Arden, Philip Ray, Annie Lee, and
Miriam Lane can all be seen as charitable and good willed people whom one may look up too. It is
apparent these character s have all suffered but have refused for it to get in the way of their charity and
goodwill manner. In our modern times of disillusioned goodwill, one can look to Enoch Arden . More
specifically one can look to these wondrous characters for insight on charity and goodwill; though this
may require sacrificing and downfalls one can only applaud Tennyson for creating such inspirational
role models for today s

Human Fears of Biological Science
Biology, genetic engineering, research, humans and animals all have one thing in common; they all
will potentially start the spread of the worst viral disease known to humanity. AIDS, a viral disease of
the human, is spreading rapidly across the world. Also, parasites, rabies, and toxoplasma gondii are all
potential factors in the human body takeover. Zombie films today help show how the world will be
when this happens. Blood, saliva, and biting will all be known as curse words to society. Society in

Whereas microparasites can have highly visible effects, diseases caused by macroparasites are often
more subtle, yet can still impact the host at the population level.*** Parasites may have less of a threat
to the human race compared to viruses, but they still pose a threat to the human and its society for
spreading to others. One particular parasite infection in the human race now is toxoplasma gondii, by
the protozoan parasite. It is one of the most common parasitic infections of man and other warm
blooded animals. Nearly one third of humanity has already been exposed to this parasite. In most
adults it does not cause serious illness, but it can cause blindness and mental retardation in infected
children and devastating disease in immunocompromised individuals. Most infections in humans are
asymptomatic but at times the parasite can produce devastating disease. Once more, the parasite has

The Functional Nature Of The Software
Integrating Autograph in teaching The functional nature of the software is determined by the order of
tasks prepared by the teacher and how the learners interact with the software (Godwin Beswetherick,
2003). Hence, working on the tasks set using the software, the learners are able to manipulate and
explore mathematical relationships independently. Previously, I have taught this topic using pedagogy
and content knowledge, in line with the department s Scheme of Work. However, following the
assessments carried out; the question testing pupils knowledge on the shape of parabolas formed was
poorly answered by more than half of the pupils in our Year 10. Therefore, my expectation is that by

However, we should not overrule using pen and paper because it is important for learners to know
how to draw the graph and to be able to explore this by themselves. Trialling teaching and learning
using Autograph The functionality of the software is partially determined by the type of activities
designed by the teacher and how the pupils interact with it (Godwin Beswetherick, 2003). Therefore,
for a desired learning outcome to be attained, meticulous planning of the tasks by the teacher must be
prepared. Tasks set should provide a purposeful balance of instructions and experiment enabling
learners to make effective use of the DT tool in their learning and at the same time allow the
possibility of exploration. Failure to properly plan activities will result in inadequate progress made by
learners and unsuccessful integration of the digital tool in lesson. In designing the task we should
make room for pupils to make conjectures and tests them using the DT. In assessing pupils
understanding, skilful questioning and plenary activities tend to make lessons to be more engaging and
more inclusive. Also, as mentioned before, planning for learners errors and misconceptions at and
intervening on this should not be overlooked as it is required to provoke mathematical insight and
guide students to the desired end point. I prepared two activities for two sessions on using Autograph

Speech On Academic Success
Good morning,
Today I would like to extol the crucial importance of academic success, and the fine qualities it
entails. Today on this stage, I would like to not only show my story of academic success, but also how
it has inherently moulded my personality and my perception of myself.
Academic success is something that has caused me great rumination something that has ultimately
became a laborious task. And while it has made me reclusive at times, the pursuit of it will integrally
help me in undertaking future career paths. Indeed, with its profound impact on my education, I now
find myself in a world free from restraint a world granting me the opportunity to take on any career
path imaginable.
To truly praise this notion, I now cast my mind back to Grade 4, when I was truly a scrawny, clueless
student who scurried around in the playground but never really perceived the world in a truly personal
way. Every day, I would always accompanied by my best friend, Sam Harding trudge up the school s
bumpy road, to reach the tuckshop where I stuff Zooper Dooper after Zooper Dooper down my
oesophagus. Whilst doing this, I would enter the classroom absent mindedly, narrowly avoiding
teacher eye contact. I therefore felt reticent, shy, and socially awkward, and yet I never realised one
gift I had: the ability to use my contemplative mind to inspire, empower and entertain people through
my work. I never once thought that beaming rays of joy would emanate from me; I just

History Of Abolitionist John Brown
Do you think John Brown would be considered a freedom fighter or a terrorist in today s world with
the actions he had in the 1800 s? John brown will be compared with other terrorist groups and
freedom fighter groups. That s how we will see if he is a freedom fighter or a terrorist in today s
world. Due to all the killing to free the slaves at Harpers Ferry and Pottawatomie Creek, John Brown s
actions at Harpers Ferry and Pottawatomie Creek are not justified because directly targeting the
government institutions, I consider him a terrorist.
John Brown would hang and kill others just to end slavery. John Brown and his band of abolitionist
settlers killed five settlers north of Pottawatomie. Brown s raid on Harpers Ferry was to

Ponyboy Character Analysis
Sometimes people judge a book by its cover. Ponyboy from The Outsiders was a person that was
judged by many people. He is in a gang, they call themselves the greasers. They are poorer than the
Socs and the middle class. When people see them they immediately think, dirty troublemakers but
they are more like a group of friends hanging out. They are like one big family and very few of them
from the gang actually start trouble. Being that Ponyboy is a greaser, people think that he is a
troublemaker and a bad person but that is not the case. Ponyboy is a unique young man that does not
start trouble and does not like fighting. He is also a very good friend. I can say that I am most like him
because I find that we have very many things in common when it comes to identity and personality.
He is a nice person who s smart in school and that is what sets him apart from the rest of his gang.
Although he may not think properly when he s out of school and it leads him to trouble, he still keeps
his good grades and respect towards others.
Ponyboy is a very good friend. He has a friend named Johnny who is also a greaser. Johnny is going
through so much throughout the story. He runs away from his home because he heard his mother and
father fighting like they always do. He goes to the park and he says, I can t take much more. I ll kill
myself or something. Johnny hated that his parents fought so much and he didn t want to be around it.
His parents were neglectful and abusive, both

Death Is The Worst Thing
There is one thing in this world that no one can escape, that everyone fears, and makes people who are
close to that person miserable, and that is death. Death is the worst thing that can ever happen to a
person, and is just as bad for the people who are close to them. There is an emptiness that comes with
the death of a loved one or someone close. That blankness in the world does something to the people
who encompass that person who passed. It changes people, whether it is for better or worse. Death is a
part of life and depending on how people are affected can dictate whether it will leave a positive or
negative change to their life and that conversion happened to me with the death of my mother, Fran. I
can recall the day it happened, like it was yesterday, the air had a certain emptiness to it. It felt cold,
barren, but it just felt like any normal rough day, where everything would not go your way. I arrived
home from hockey practice like I do every Thursday with my father and was ready to lay down before
I did my homework. Then we got the call and we bolted to the emergency room at Mercy Hospital.
The nurse took us into a waiting room and we heard the heartbreaking news from the physician and
the room went still. It was not a typical quiet but so quiet that you could almost hear your heart
pounding out of your chest. When we saw my Mother, and we shockingly gazed what the car crash
did to her it was a completely eye opening. This could not be your Mother; that is all

Racism In Sports
Racism and violence in stadia has become a major problem for sport clubs and organisations around
the world. Are sporting codes and clubs tackling the problem in the right way? Use a comparative case
study approach to show examples of best and worst case management.
Introduction
Sport should bring people together regardless of age, sex, religion or nationality. It provides an
opportunity for people of all backgrounds to compete at a grassroots or elite level influencing a
healthy lifestyle for many.
There are many instances where sport can tear individuals and communities apart although. This can
be evident through derogatory remarks and discrimination, which can turn over into disruption and
violence in the stands. The major problem for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is expressed in the actions of individuals and institutions and has its roots in the belief that some
people are superior because they belong to a particular race, ethnic or national group. (2)
Sport plays a crucial role for many people in improving quality of life. Sport in this day in age, can
promote social inclusion, providing opportunities for all regardless of age, sex, colour, religion, age,
physical ability, economic background with people and the world around them. As a result of the large
array of diversity in sport although, one in five people experience racism at sports related events
(Ferdinand A, Kelaher M Paradies Y 2013).
Due to sport being subject to a large audience, when racism does occurs in the stadia, the whole world
sees. This can create cycle of inclusion among spectators, in that because one person is doing it, it is
acceptable for another person to copy them. As a consequence of racism in stadia, a lower quality of
life and mental health concerns can arise. Through this, sporting clubs and organizations are impacted
as it can lead people to not become involved in the sport out of fear of being a target. It can also lead
to individuals not performing to the best of their ability, thus creating an unpopular environment for
that player. An atmosphere of mistrust and hatred is therefore created among the sporting clubs and
organization if the issue is not tackled

Women in The Count of Monte Cristo
Women in The Count of Monte Cristo possess unique personalities, but intensely similar restrictions.
Currently, women in the United States, as well as other countries, are able to have jobs, travel, and
participate in many other activities that the ladies Dumas portrays are not allowed to. Feminist
analysis of this book reveals the ways of the time and the delicate balance of society s typical
structure. In The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas realistically conveys that when women
violate their traditional roles, the balance of life is disrupted. This is evident through descriptions of
instances in which females are in the home as well as when they are not. When women are kept in
their classical role of mother and caretaker, all is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eugénie Danglars is another example of the destructiveness that comes when women are not
following society s standards. An independent and atypical woman, Eugénie defies her father, leaves
home, and disguises herself as a man. Her decision to run away with Louise d Armilly was a true
statement of women s lack of rights. As she declares on page 411, I told him about my fear of
traveling as a woman. He understood me perfectly and offered to get a man s passport for me. I
received this one two days later; I wrote in the words, traveling with his sister myself . Whether or not
this fear was legitimate, it shows how both society and individuals viewed women as weaker and
lesser. Because Eugénie left her stereotypical role, she faced challenges that she overcame only
because she cut her hair off and dressed like a man. Therefore, her defiance of classic responsibilities
shows that women are viewed as problematic, lesser, and pathetic compared to males. Lastly, Madame
Danglars also represents the consequences of breaking the mold. She dishonors her husband by having
an affair, and is thus the mother of Benedetto, the illegitimate son whom she thinks has died. When
Madame Danglars later discovers the child is actually alive, she feels unbelievably guilty. Her
daughter, Eugénie, despises her and her husband. Furthermore, her marriage is a mess, shown when
Madame Danglars says, If he d thought I

NAME: CHER SUNG KANG
GROUP NUMBER: B21
EXPERIMENT NUMBER: 10
DATE OF EXPERIMENT: 28/11/2011
DATE OF REPORT SUBMISSION: 5/11/2011
MARK/20 (for demonstrator use):
Introduction
Aim: 1. Describe operation of various types of valves
2. Measure frictional losses due to flows through different valves
3. Identify sources of errors
Background amp; theory: In this experiment, the relationship between volumetric flow rate and
percentages of valve opening is determined by knowing that volumetric of flow rate of air through the
flow meter is proportional to the square root of the differential head across the manometer. Graph of
volumetric flow rate (%) vs valve opening (%) can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average value for ∆h is then determined by using the sum of the 3 sets of ∆h values dividing by 3.
Therefore, for every half a turn, there would be an average value for ∆h.
Sample calculation for ∆h for gate valve at 0 turn at first set of values: 48 cm 32.2 cm = 15.8 cm.
Average value of ∆h at 0 turn: (15.8 cm + 15.5 cm + 15.5 cm)/3 = 15.6 cm
√∆h = √15.6 = 3.95 (This value is taken as a constant because we are using the relationship of Q α
√∆h where volumetric flow rate, Q is proportional to the √∆h, the square root of differential head
across the manometer.

The effect of pens on the Reticulitermes flavipes termite Abstract This experiment was constructed to
determine which type of writing utensil the termites were most attracted to and why. The experiment
was performed by placing two separate circles (one red papermate and one lead pencil) on a piece of
paper to see what line is favored by the termite. The termite was placed on the lead pencil path first,
and then on the red papermate pen path to count how many seconds the termite remained on or
followed the pathway. The termite stayed on the red papermate line for a much more significant time
than on the lead pencil line. The presence of insect pheromones that chemically control the behavior

During each of five (5) trials a different Reticulitermes flavipes was used. In the course of the first
trial the termite was placed on the red papermate pen path, timing the termite with a stop watch, the
insect stayed on the path for the complete thirty seconds. Then the same termite was placed on the
pencil path, and stayed for a total of zero seconds. During the second trial a new termite was placed on
the red papermate pen line it also stayed on the path for the maximum thirty seconds. Later the same
termite was placed on the lead pencil path and reacted just like the first termite, walked away from the
pencil path. It was very odd that during the third trial the termite did react to the lead pencil circle for
10 (ten) seconds, meaning it followed the path of the pencil for that time. In the fourth and fifth trial
the termite did the same thing as the first and second termites they followed only the red papermate
pen path and walked away from the lead pencil circle. Results The table below shows all the results
from the experiment and even some extra information. The table displays the mean of the times the
termites stayed on the pencil and papermate circles. It also displays the amount of trials used in the
experiment. |t Test: Two Sample Assuming Equal Variances | | |

Friar Lawrence Persuasive Quotes
But come, young waverer, come, go with me. In one respect I ll thy assistant be, for this alliance may
be so happy, prove to turn your households rancor to pure love (2.3.96 99). In Shakespeare s Romeo
and Juliet he constructed Friar Lawrence s character to come off as a helpful yet a deceiving man. He
serves as a mentor and friend to Romeo and Juliet. Friar guides them through their marriage hoping to
end the feud. Romeo and Juliet trust the Friar and hope he will keep their marriage a secret and
possibly end the conflict. He also comes off as a very helpful individual, given that he has the power

Friar Lawrence knew from the beginning that the marriage was doomed. Yet he proceeds to marry
Romeo and Juliet making them believe that they were truly in love when in reality he desperately
wanted to end the feud. Manipulation leads it s roll when the Friar warns Romeo about manipulation.
He begin a monologue to romeo The earth that s nature s mother is her tomb. What is her burying
grave, that is her womb; and from her womb children of divers kind. We sucking on her natural bosom

explains to Romeo that he is like a plant, easily manipulated. Making Romeo aware of his
disadvantages, Friar Lawrence sees this as an advantage an opportunity to create peace. From the
begging, Friar Lawrence did not question Romeo or his requests/actions. The Friar proceeded with the
couples wish and manipulation was set in

My Resignation Letter At Sylvania High School
29 April, 2015
Dear Craig and Executive Staff,
It is with deep regret that I inform you of my resignation from the position of Teacher Librarian at
Sylvania High School. I appreciate that this will come as a complete shock to you, and for that reason
I want to assure you that it is purely in response to personal and health issues dating back to 2005, and
not because of anything specifically occurring at Sylvania High School in 2015.
Whilst I have worked very hard to attain the qualifications necessary for permanent employment with
the DEC, sadly, I am not suited to this type of work in a fulltime capacity because it negatively effects
my health to a point that I cannot manage.
I am so sorry to let you down.
I am happy to discuss my resignation further in person, but do not wish to elaborate in any greater
detail in writing.
I understand that my employment agreement will have terms attached to my resignation of which I am
not familiar. Please advise me what you would like me to do to give you time to find a replacement
and which causes you the least amount of disruption and inconvenience possible.
Kind regards,
Fiona Bell Whittaker
Dear Craig,
Thank you for speaking with me on Wednesday.

misinterpreted and/or lost, and for that reason, I have clarified in writing below the things
underpinning my decision communicated to you on that day.

Child Protective Services Case Study
1. Barry is stating the rest of the children around the world that have problems at home try to run away
from family problems. The children that are unlucky will eventually grow up being bad because their
family neglected their attention as a child. Some children that are neglected by their parents will go
into child protective service system. Barry does not answer the questions because she went through
negligence from her parents as well as her brother. She had only had her brother and teachers at school
that felt the love and warmth from them because they paid attention to her. She also did not answer the
questions because she knows there are children in a situation that are worse than her situation with her
family. I think Barry is stating

Compare And Contrast Annie Dillard And Virginia Woolf
Despite any futile resistance, each living creature eventually succumbs to the forces of death.
Ultimately, death is a part of living. Death is inevitable. Likewise, although a diminutive moth may
appear to be insignificant and pathetic, it can symbolize the true connections between the duality of
life and death and human beings. For instance, Annie Dillard and Virginia Woolf illustrate similar,
universal messages about the value of life through the metaphor of a moth. However, the manner in
which they portray their themes and purpose varies, for their personal experiences and writing styles
influence their perspectives of life and death.
Unlike Annie Dillard, Virginia Woolf was an essayist during the turbulence of the early twentieth
century, where she witnessed the atrocities of both world wars and the lack of women in the
intellectual realm. Ultimately, Woolf decided to end her own life by drowning herself. Therefore, her
views of life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Dillard explains a variety of instances with a more straightforward approach, while
Woolf describes an individual event with complex sentences and ideas. However, as the moth in Woolf
s essay begins to face death, her syntax becomes less complex, with shorter sentences and less
connected ideas. Likewise, the vocabulary of Dillard s work is not as advanced, whereas Woolf would
include complex diction to create a more formal tone. Furthermore, the tone of both writers provides
different emotional senses to take away from the piece. For instance, Woolf concludes her essay by
stating that death is stronger than her, whereas Dillard writes of her lively conversations with fellow
writers. While Woolf effectively shares a much darker and emotional attitude, focusing on the power
of death, both voices help impart the author s true meaning and

Essay On Animal Farm By George Orwell
An ideology is a set of opinions or beliefs of a group or an individual. Very often ideology refers to a
set of political beliefs or a set of ideas. Our ideology is our most closely held set of values and
feelings, and it acts as the filter through which we see everything and everybody. Introduction:
Description: Old Major is discussing his hate and the injustice upon the animals at Manor Farm and
his beliefs and ideology. This was the creation of Animalism or what we call Communism. Enmity:
The state or the feeling of being hostile or opposed to someone or something. Vices: Unjust or
immoral behavior. Tyrannise: Rule or treat someone cruelly or immorally Thesis: The passage is a set
of beliefs and rules made by OId Major, this greatly exemplifies a communist society because he
believes that all animals are equal or in a society, all humans are equal. In a communist society,
everyone is equal, they are paid the same wage, treated the same and so on. We can see the similarities
between the actions in the book compared to actions in the real world, the animals rebel against the
unjust humans and will no longer work for them and in the real world, the workers rebel against the
bourgeoisie and unite everyone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hands-Free While Driving
Although using a cell phone with a hands free while driving may seem easier than using one without a
hands free, both are equally distracting, maybe even worse. The brain can t handle both tasks at once,
and the reaction time is slower when you are doing anything other than just driving. Driving while
talking on a hands free phone can be just as distracting as talking on a hand held phone, says
researchers at the University of Sussex in England. A 2009 report by the Transport Research
Laboratory found that using a hands free while driving can be more dangerous than drunk driving. The
2013 study by the University of Alberta, Canada, declared drivers using hands free devices were
significantly more likely to make potentially hazardous errors. A train collided with a truck in
Rosedale, Maryland in 2013 and damaged nearby businesses and home. The truck s driver was at fault
and said he was distracted talking on a hands free phone. Last year Sharmila Mistry got charged with
careless driving after going over a curb and hitting two children. Prosecutors say she was distracted by
a hands free phone call. Alice Husband s seven year old son, Seth, died in December 2014, two weeks
after he was hit by a woman who was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
states are trying to reduce the risk associated with driving while talking or texting. Not one state bans
all cell phone use for all drivers, but thirty eight states and the District of Columbia ban all cell phone

bans aren t really enforceable. It s hard for police to tell if someone is using a hands free phone. It
would be the question of whether a driver using a hands free phone actually on the phone, talking with
a passenger or to themselves. Others argue that drivers do all types of distracting things while driving
like eating, arguing with children in the back seat, and listening to music, so it makes little sense to

  • 2. Why Do Minorss Use Social Media Jacob O Hara 3rd Minors and Social Media People have used cell phones since they first came out and many people love them. People use them night and day and cant get enough of them. I believe minors should use social media because it s how everybody communicates and is informed about what s happening in the world. Minors should use social media because it gives them a social life. CNN says that most people communicate over social media and interact with others, like their friends or just random people. If CNN says that people everywhere talk on social media then minors should be able to interact as well so they can be informed about what s going on and do what everyone else does. • 3. Central Auditory Processing Disorder Except for outwardly appearances, speech may be the one of the most defining elements of a person s identity, psychologists generally consider language a prime manifestation of underlying cognitive processes (Solso, MacLin, MacLin, 2008, p. 468). Just by listening over the phone, I can tell whether a family member is feeling positive, in ill health, or worried about events in their lives. Should vocal language be the only measure of underlying cognitive processes? As a small child, it was frustrating to not be able to make the adults in my life understand me. Many years later after development of the brainstem auditory evoked response test (BAER), a doctor who it seemed was always on the cutting edge of his science and working with neurologists at the old Lovelace Medical Center, tested my hearing using the BAER . For me, the results of this test were life changing because for the first time in 28 years my not being able to understand much of the conversation around me and consequently, my ability to communicate had a name a diagnosis central auditory processing disorder I heard at two different speeds and both were at a slower rate than that of the general population. The BAER measures latency in milliseconds or in layman terms, the BAER measures the length of time it takes for sound to travel from the ear to the brain stem (Ness, 2009). An important benefit of the BAER is that it can be easily used for diagnosis of auditory processes in infants and young ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ridge trail starts on dole street near the university of Hawaii at Manoa. From the campus, the ridge seems dry and grassy and it is expected as a dry leeward side ridge. This ridge is also known for its brush fires during the hot seasons, the most recent being the fire in 2007. The fire left 50 acre of the ridge scorched and burned to the ground (Siopack 2007). But, now in 2016 there has been an increasing amount of rain and the ridge has since begun to heal since the fire. The beginning of the trail starts off dry with rocky soil and the dominant vegetation being the M. maximus that has a yellow brownish color. The vegetation isn t completely covering the soil; it is mostly clumped together. As you continue to move up the trail the vegetation starts to get a little greener and thicker. The M. maximus gets thicker, greener, and more dominant. The soil is still rocky and dry, but there are a few different species such as the air plants and small shrubs. More of a change is seen further up the ridge once you are out of the tall grasses. The land is moister and has a wide range of tree species and woody area. • 8. Comparing Mariana And The Lady Of Shalott The poetry written during the Industrial Revolution reflects the mentality of 19th century British citizens with anxious, questioning tones, and the desire for returning to simpler times with romantic ideals. Both Mariana and The Lady of Shalott evoke questions about the place for women during the Industrial Revolution because Lord Alfred Tennyson characterizes both female characters as vulnerable in the absence of a man. The portrayal of the characters Mariana and The Lady of Shalott as weak is evident in the settings of each poem because they reside in trapped and abandoned spaces, are easily controlled by their surroundings, and the dark and lightless worlds they both live in without a man. • 9. Desmond Tutu Statement On Oppression Humanity has always oppressed and discriminated against one another since the beginning of time. Never at a point in history has everyone been completely equal in their civil rights and treatment. Whether the discrimination stems from the color of one s skin to their religious beliefs to anything that separates them from the larger population, a target has been placed upon them for others to attack. In this paper I will investigate how Desmond Tutu s statement on oppression relates to primary texts that I viewed during the course of this semester. As Desmond Tutu stated, If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality. (1984) This example has been illustrated in human treatment of one another since the start of recorded history. Those who are viewed as different were persecuted in a variety of ways such as Perpetua being imprisoned and sentenced to death for her religious beliefs to that of Martin Luther King Jr. who was murdered due to his advocating of equal rights for all. Integrity ensures that unauthorized alteration to information is not made, alterations are not made by unauthorized personnel, and the information is reliable both internally and externally. Confidentiality unauthorized release of information, regardless if the release is internally or externally. Availability for the users to be able to access the data in a consistent and timely manner that will add value to their job is also necessary. • 18. Enoch Arden Professor Beggs English 101 MW12 17 September 2009 Enoch Arden s Charity and Goodwill In Alfred Tennyson s poem of skilled writing, Enoch Arden , Enoch leaves his family to better serve them as a husband and father. The poem firmly establishes the perplexity of one s generous personality. Enoch leaves his family to better the lives for each of them in a manner that reflects a view of personal toil and hardship to support the family in economic downfall. Also in Enoch s absence it is written that Philip Ray provides for Enoch s children and wife Annie Lee, enabling the thought of generosity and charitable goodwill toward the character. The poem comes out and states Miriam s good character, Miriam Lane was good and garrulous. Though her talkative personality she does not tell Annie nor Philip of Enoch s return. She promises twice to Enoch that she d give his blessings to his family and to announce his death as Enoch repeats his wishes to her on his deathbed. As these examples can now be seen self evident; there is no argument to not see this poem as not a literary work of art but a reinforcement of charity and goodwill. This work can be compared to any revolutionary writing; Enoch Arden revolutionizes today s world by inspiring one to become charitable and goodwilled. Enoch Arden, Philip Ray, Annie Lee, and Miriam Lane can all be seen as charitable and good willed people whom one may look up too. It is apparent these character s have all suffered but have refused for it to get in the way of their charity and goodwill manner. In our modern times of disillusioned goodwill, one can look to Enoch Arden . More specifically one can look to these wondrous characters for insight on charity and goodwill; though this may require sacrificing and downfalls one can only applaud Tennyson for creating such inspirational role models for today s ... One particular parasite infection in the human race now is toxoplasma gondii, by the protozoan parasite. It is one of the most common parasitic infections of man and other warm blooded animals. Nearly one third of humanity has already been exposed to this parasite. In most adults it does not cause serious illness, but it can cause blindness and mental retardation in infected children and devastating disease in immunocompromised individuals. Most infections in humans are asymptomatic but at times the parasite can produce devastating disease. Once more, the parasite has probable cause to become a disease, even deadly ones. Toxoplasma gondii is already existent and spreading through many countries. It is an infectious parasite therefore, is has all the characteristics a parasite inquires. Not only can it rapidly spread, but also through higher population levels. The Functional Nature Of The Software Integrating Autograph in teaching The functional nature of the software is determined by the order of tasks prepared by the teacher and how the learners interact with the software (Godwin Beswetherick, 2003). Hence, working on the tasks set using the software, the learners are able to manipulate and explore mathematical relationships independently. Previously, I have taught this topic using pedagogy and content knowledge, in line with the department s Scheme of Work. Trialling teaching and learning using Autograph The functionality of the software is partially determined by the type of activities designed by the teacher and how the pupils interact with it (Godwin Beswetherick, 2003). Therefore, for a desired learning outcome to be attained, meticulous planning of the tasks by the teacher must be prepared. Tasks set should provide a purposeful balance of instructions and experiment enabling learners to make effective use of the DT tool in their learning and at the same time allow the possibility of exploration. Failure to properly plan activities will result in inadequate progress made by learners and unsuccessful integration of the digital tool in lesson. In designing the task we should make room for pupils to make conjectures and tests them using the DT. In assessing pupils understanding, skilful questioning and plenary activities tend to make lessons to be more engaging and more inclusive. Also, as mentioned before, planning for learners errors and misconceptions at and intervening on this should not be overlooked as it is required to provoke mathematical insight and guide students to the desired end point. Today on this stage, I would like to not only show my story of academic success, but also how it has inherently moulded my personality and my perception of myself. Academic success is something that has caused me great rumination something that has ultimately became a laborious task. And while it has made me reclusive at times, the pursuit of it will integrally help me in undertaking future career paths. Indeed, with its profound impact on my education, I now find myself in a world free from restraint a world granting me the opportunity to take on any career path imaginable. To truly praise this notion, I now cast my mind back to Grade 4, when I was truly a scrawny, clueless student who scurried around in the playground but never really perceived the world in a truly personal way. Every day, I would always accompanied by my best friend, Sam Harding trudge up the school s bumpy road, to reach the tuckshop where I stuff Zooper Dooper after Zooper Dooper down my oesophagus. Whilst doing this, I would enter the classroom absent mindedly, narrowly avoiding teacher eye contact. I therefore felt reticent, shy, and socially awkward, and yet I never realised one gift I had: the ability to use my contemplative mind to inspire, empower and entertain people through my work. I never once thought that beaming rays of joy would emanate from me; I just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Death is the worst thing that can ever happen to a person, and is just as bad for the people who are close to them. There is an emptiness that comes with the death of a loved one or someone close. That blankness in the world does something to the people who encompass that person who passed. It changes people, whether it is for better or worse. Death is a part of life and depending on how people are affected can dictate whether it will leave a positive or negative change to their life and that conversion happened to me with the death of my mother, Fran. An independent and atypical woman, Eugénie defies her father, leaves home, and disguises herself as a man. Whether or not this fear was legitimate, it shows how both society and individuals viewed women as weaker and lesser. Because Eugénie left her stereotypical role, she faced challenges that she overcame only because she cut her hair off and dressed like a man. Therefore, her defiance of classic responsibilities shows that women are viewed as problematic, lesser, and pathetic compared to males.
