Cotton Gin s Contributions
1793 COTTON GIN PROMOTES SLAVERY! Disgraceful and distasteful! Disgraceful! Distasteful!
The south side has created a new invention, called the Cotton Gin.This invention allows the south to
separate seeds from cotton, to make clothes and other items. Made by the traitor himself, Eli Whitney.
This invention promotes the once almost abolished idea of slavery. This invention traps poor innocent
slaves in a hot, uncared for, factory. Just so the south can make a quick buck that they most likely won
t even use for government, just personal desire. The South now depends on these poor slaves to do
things at just a raise of a finger. They almost aren t human anymore. They ve enslaved too many
people for us to be comfortable with it anymore. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Graphic Imagery And Designs Evolve Until Production
The process towards architectural construction takes on many forms, including various design stages.
The graphic imagery and designs evolve until production begins. There are undoubtedly many
considerations into a building s design, which stresses their representation as even more important and
influential to its potential construction. Elevation drawings and plans lay out the details of
construction, they are useful to ensure the structure adheres to any local codes, however more detailed
drawings are required for construction known as final renderings.1 Drawings are therefore a
fundamental form of documentation that informs a building s production. On the other hand, the
emergence of archigram in the post war era encouraged the imagination and was a platform that
challenged previous form of representation. Archigram placed as much influence on the context of the
building and depicting its urban surrounding as much as emphasising the building itself. In addition,
architectural photography provoked the emergence of modern forms and structures; however,
contextualizing buildings within the image was unnecessary. It was believed that architecture could
reform people architecture is the art one lives in and thus rational design could make rational
societies.2 This idea was very much a driving force of representation which drawings, photography
and archigram intended to reform their urban landscape. Unlike detailed drawing which provided an
insight into the scale and

Comparing Presidents Obama And Lincoln
Presidents Lincoln and Obama are considered two of the greatest presidents.
They both had great ideas for a great America. Lincoln dealt with issues; on the other hand, Obama
really is a true symbol of freedom leading from Lincoln s accomplishments.
President Obama and President Lincoln represent the hard earned freedom and rights of the United
States. President Lincoln is the president that was given credit of establishing a strong and free United
States. When he established the equal union, president Obama became a symbol of equality by
becoming the first black American president. Even though president Obama accomplished many
things, Lincoln paved the way for Obama Abraham Lincoln created the Emancipation Proclamation
for the freedom of all people to have rights here in America. Barack Obama and president Lincoln

America s The Great Melting Pot
America the great melting pot. Some have argued that the melting pot analogy is inaccurate. Instead
America is like a tossed salad. A person can see all the individual ingredients that make up the salad.
People will argue of what can go into a salad and what cannot go into just as people will argue about
the place of certain groups with America. Some find disgust in certain groups of people and praise
other. The situation is dynamic. The way people interact with groups are constantly changing and
morphing due to different influences. Antisemitism is one of the ways people interact with the tossed
salad that is America. Antisemitism in United States is on a decline because other groups are being
used as scapegoats instead, Jews are not seen to pose a threat, a strong Holocaust remembrance, and
the hatred of African Americans continues to be the predominate form of hate in the American context.
The FBI website lays out the numbers. The site has hate crime statistics up to 2014. In 2014 there
were 609 anti Jewish biased hate incidents compared to 1,621 Anti Black or African American
incidents. The 609 number is down almost 300 from the 887 Anti Jewish incidents in 2010. Hate
Incidents overall decreased from 2010 to 2014. In 2010 there were 6,628 incidents. In 2014 there were
5,479. Although hate crimes overall have decreased, Anti Jewish incidents are decreasing faster in
terms of percentage. From 2010 to 2014 Anti Jewish incidents decreased approximately 31 percent.

Anti Curfew Law
You can t tame a wild mustang, so why try and control teenager who wants as many freedoms as
possible. Curfews set by the Government may seem like a good idea, but it s not. The idea of laws
enforcing a curfew for teenagers is not a good one, it unfairly takes away a teenagers freedom. If there
is a law about a curfew and a teen does not like it, there is a high chance that they will just stay out
past curfew. Curfew in a household is specified by the parents. If the parents and child both state their
case on a time, and agree on it, the child will keep their word. If there is a law enforcing a curfew,
there will not always be a way for teens to try and negotiate a fair time, like they could if their parents

Also, with that law, parents will probably follow the time of that law. This means that teens cannot try
and negotiate a time that is fair. If a teen believes that the curfew time is not fair and wants hangout
with friends or go to a party, they will most likely sneak out. The point of the curfew is to keep people
safe and make sure they do not get in trouble, but if a teenager is going to sneak out anyway, what s
the point. A curfew law is a good idea on paper for parents who worry about there children, but there
is no true way to make sure they are safe without taking away there freedoms, and that is what a
Government forced curfew would do. Not all teenagers are bad and stay out past curfew just to party
and hangout with friends, sometimes teens need to stay out late. High school students have extra
curricular activities they do after school. I know from personal experiences that sometimes you can

McDonalds Business Proposal McDonalds has always been a company that shares in the happiness of
a child. Recently after taking my own children to McDonalds, I have found that there is not a
breakfast option for children. McDonalds should add a happy meal option to the breakfast menu.
Current demands by consumers are to add a happy meal option allowing parents to purchase child
sized portions of breakfast items. This option could help McDonalds to increase profits by attracting
more consumers. Shareholder reports show a quarterly cash dividend per share increase of 15% and
annual dividend of $2.80 per share. Comparable sales grew 5.6%. Cash by operations increased $808

Analysis Of National Lampoon s Big Five
National Lampoon s Christmas Vacation details the crazy escapades of the Griswold family as they
navigate the arrival of family, endure grouchy bosses, and struggle to create the perfect family
Christmas. The family patriarch, Clark Griswold, is the main protagonist and demonstrates a variety of
interesting psychological characteristics conducive to analysis. This paper assesses Clark from a trait
perspective, focusing on his lack of conscientiousness, and a non trait, psychoanalytic perspective, by
addressing how Clark regresses as a defense mechanism in response to tension and anxiety inducing
situations throughout the movie. One salient aspect of Clark s personality that can be observed from a
trait perspective is his lack of conscientiousness. The Big Five was established to create a standardized
list of essential traits to explain how/why individuals are both similar and different in personality. The
journey to establish the Big Five began with the Lexical Hypothesis, which took 17,953 adjectives and
consolidated them to 4,500 enduring psychological traits, which were whittled to 35 clusters of
personality, with a final factor analysis leading to the Big Five traits known today. Subsequent analysis
and repeated testing has consistently yielded the same five traits: extraversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. The Big Five fall on a larger spectrum
that includes metatraits, as well as aspects and facets of

Personal Viewpoint of Chapter One of Born To Be Good The science of a meaningful life, by Dacher

Anton Van Leeuwenhoek conducted the first microbiological observance in the fifteenth century with
such an utterly eccentric sense of curiosity, which it led to a field of study that would change the world
forever. I interpret the sudden change of subject from the first to second paragraph as a simile that the
new topic of jen science will, too, alter the world in a way that will disable our ability to ever overlook
this new realm of science.
Jen science seems to be a mix of a concept outlined by Confucius and, in a more contemporary light, a

I want to insert an excerpt from the chapter and attempt to understand its implications. The very
emphasis of the commandment Thou shalt not kill makes it certain that we are descended from an
endlessly long chain of generations of murderers, whose love of murder was in their blood as it is
perhaps also in ours.
Sigmund Freud
For such an authority to exclaim such words has profound implications. Firstly Freud was a known
atheist, and avidly so, therefore I believe he was employing sense of sarcasm that immediately
relinquishes the potency of this quote. Also, not to object to Sigmund Freud, but to assume that a
commandment makes certain our descent from murderers is simply untrue. Freud would have known
this, he was a pretty switched on bloke, which is why I think this quote is taken out of context or
perhaps he said it jokingly. Although it is an instruction to all peoples, it does not imply that all before
the commandment have done so. Freud had a glum look on humanity, from my perspective he would
not be an advocate of Jen science and is a good candidate to provoke a sense of imbalance in the
contemporary culture toward us all focusing on the negative. The data is presented in such a way as to
highlight correlations that support this Jen science. The graphs

Positive And Negative Effects Of Cars
Automobiles brought more positive and negative effects than any other invention in the history of
transportation. Although the transportation industry may be revolutionized within the next few
decades, cars stand out as the single most used transportation method. Cars affected not only
American society but all societies in incomparable ways they changed life at home, the economy, the
environment, and even people s love lives. Since their invention, automobiles have changed the way
society functions as well as having greatly impacted America s economy.
J. Frank and Charles Duryea designed the first American automobile in 1893. He sold them at $650
about $16,000 today making them cheap and accessible. Car makers were faced with the dilemma of
balancing the quality of the car and its price. They had to figure out a way to make a car with materials
they could afford to sell for price that would create enough revenue to keep their business afloat. The
car industry grew immensely, and by 1913 the United States produced 485,000 of 600,000 vehicles
produced in the world. By 1920, cars were supremely important to the petroleum industry and became
the biggest customer of the steel industry. The large demand for higher quality cars greatly accelerated
their improvement. In just 20 years, cars had self starters, a closed frame made entirely of steel, a high
compression engine, hydraulic brakes, synchromesh transmissions, and low pressure balloon tires.
These changes made cars look

Essay about Jazz Styles in America
Jazz Styles in America
Jazz music has been a part of America for many centuries. It has influenced many time periods and
ways of life in America. Tin Pan Alley was a real alley on East Fourteenth Street near Third (in New
York), but it was never just a place. Tin Pan Alley has come to be known for an era of songwriting
when many musical ideas mixed together to form American popular music. Tin Pan Alley brought
together many styles: blues, jazz, musical scores, and ragtime (Burton Lane qtd. In Tin Pan Alley ).
What are the various jazz styles? Not only has jazz affected people and time periods, but it has also

Although one man may enjoy one type of music, another man could hate it. It can be frustrating to try
to persuade skeptics that musicians they do not like make real music. Many people have these feelings

enhance the cultural significance of rap. If the people do not understand rap after this, they never will
(Farley 51). Fusion is back, although it never really went away, as the many millions of Kenny G. fans
would prove. In the 1960s, many jazz musicians found themselves marginalized by rock and soul.
Then, in 1970, Miles Davis received the first gold record of his life for Bitches Brew , a sonic eye
opener that experimented with electric instruments and rock and funk rhythms. A whole generation of
musicians was squandering its talents on an increasingly vapid, yet profitable jazz, which came to be
known as fusion. Known today as smooth jazz, fusion continued to thrive. It even has its own
Billboard chart (Handy 25). Extremely too many styles of jazz exist to name all of them. One of the
most common types of jazz is swing. Swing emerged during the early 1930s and emphasized big
bands. It spilled into the late 1940s and then remained popular in recordings, film, and television
music long after its main proponents had disbanded. Most swing

Lincoln s Second Reconstruction
President Lincoln has always been a strong believer of free labor and antislavery, but he loved the
Union more. Lincoln understood that liberating slaves to the war could challenge both freedom and
the union. Not only that but effect military recruitment in the North. In August 1861, Union General
John General John C. Fremont commanded federal troops in Missouri to emancipate on all slaves in
his jurisdiction. Though Missouri was still a part of the Union, it was a slave state. This leading to a
bloody battleground between the Union and Confederate. Fremont s order surpassed the requirements
of the First Confiscation Act. This Act only freed slaves who had participated in the Rebel War or who
had master that were disloyal to the Union. Lincoln was furious with Fremont for not following the
Confiscation Act. This caused Lincoln to cancel the order and the general to resign. A growing uneasy
Congress, where Republicans dominated, pushed Lincoln on emancipation; later on Congress passed
the Second Confiscation Act. This law gave Union commanders the right to capture slave property as
their armies marched through confederate territory. This Act helped resolve with the problem of slaves
who fled to the Union. When Lincoln presented the emancipation proposal to his cabinet, there was

Philosophers and Epistemological Skepticism
Abstract People wonder how they, and others, know what they know. There is a skepticism about
accepting that there are inherent pieces of knowledge that people simply possess, that there is no such
thing as true knowledge because it is so personal, that there is no way to prove what is truly right or
wrong. This paper considers the views of Chuang Tzu and Roderick Chisholm, how their ideas should
be researched further in order for leaders to address sharing knowledge with their followers. Scholars,
researchers, mangers, and leaders can benefit in many ways by further researching the philosophies
and how these ideas apply to one s attempts to share knowledge.

This is another area to be considered for examination. Tzu forces us to consider how well we know
ourselves, how well we can know others, and how well we can know the world (Derong, 2005). We
must trust ourselves before we can ever hope to pass on our knowledge to others. Tzu also forces us to
explore both sides of everything:
Accommodating affirmation (yin shi), it accommodates denial (yin fei). Accommodating denial (yin
fei), it accommodates affirmation (yin shi) (Trowbridge, 2006, p. 255). This forces leaders and
learners to examine everything and understand how each side works with the other. They must learn to
appreciate the need for all sides of knowledge. There is much to consider from the skeptical
epistemological view. Much as debaters are prepared to debate, so should scholars, researchers, and
leaders be prepared. While leaders have proven their worthiness to gain the position of leader, it seems
that their ability to address both sides of an issue got them to that position. One cannot forget this as
leadership continues. By exploring the philosophies behind Tzu and Chisholm, one can be better
prepared to deliver their mission and answer any naysayers that question the legitimacy of the
presentation. Challenges and Opportunities Skepticism offers the opportunity to doctoral learners the
ability to consider the need for proof, the need to consider arguments and be prepared to address them.

The followers do not have control of environment, and the environmental factors determine the

The Historical Context of The Bhagavad Gita and Its Relation to Indian Religious Doctrines
The Bhagavad Gita is perhaps the most famous, and definitely the most widely read, ethical text of
ancient India. As an episode in India s great epic, the Mahabharata, The Bhagavad Gita now ranks as
one of the three principal texts that define and capture the essence of Hinduism; the other two being
the Upanishads and the Brahma Sutras. Though this work contains much theology, its kernel is ethical
and its teaching is set in the context of an ethical problem. The teaching of The Bhagavad Gita is
summed up in the maxim your business is with the deed and not with the result. When Arjuna, the
third son of king Pandu (dynasty name: Pandavas) is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conflict between the Pandavas and the Kauravas brewed gradually when the Kauravas refused to
return the kingdom to the Panadavas and honor the agreement after the fourteen year exile, and
escalated to a full scale war when the Kauravas refused to even grant Yudhisthir s reduced demand for
a few villages instead of the entire kingdom. As the battle is about to begin, Arjuna, himself an
acclaimed warrior, wonders how he could kill his own blood relatives with whom he had grown up as
a child. He puts the battle on hold and begins a conversation with Krishna, one of the ten but most
important incarnations of the Universal Hindu God, Vishnu. The Bhagavad Gita begins here and ends
with Krishna convincing Arjuna that in the grand scheme of things, he is only a pawn. The best he
could do is do his duty and not question God s will. It was his duty to fight. In convincing Arjuna, the
Lord Krishna provides a philosophy of life and restores Arjuna s nerve to begin the battle a battle that
had been stalled because the protagonist had lost his nerve and needed time to reexamine his moral
values.
Even though The Bhagavad Gita (hereafter referred to as the Gita) is one of the three principal texts
that define the essence of Hinduism, and since all over the world Hindus chant from the Gita during
most of their religious ceremonies, strictly speaking the Gita is not one of the Hindu scriptures. In

recorded numerous mambos and when he ran out of inspiration, he would simply number them.
Mambo No. 5 was the most famous out of a series of 8 mambos. (Songfacts, 1) The piece was

Perez Prado was the lead singer of his orchestra. He was born in Matanzas, Cuba, where he studied
classical piano during his early childhood. Later as he grew up, he played the organ and piano in local
clubs. (Brown,1) For a short period of time, he was a pianist for La Sonora Matancera , Cuba s best
known musical group.(Wilson,1) In 1948, he moved to Mexico to form his own band to record for
RCA Victor, a recording studio.(Siegel,1) Prado specialized in mambos, an upbeat adaptation of the
Cuban culture. At the height of the mambo movement in 1955, Prado hit the American charts at
number one with his self composed Mambo No.5. The sound of this composition is lively and upbeat.
The song is mostly instrumental comprised of a few monophonic vocals towards the end of the song.
It has a polyphonic texture, where the wind instruments play several independent melodies and the
percussion is in the background as the harmony. The most recognizable instruments in the piece are
the trumpet, saxophone, timbales and the drums. The dynamics throughout the composition is forte
and even fortissimo at certain points. There is a few vocal in this composition that are sung in Spanish.

Compendium Of The Social Doctrine Of Church
The right to water, as all human rights, finds its basis in human dignity and not in any kind of
quantitative assessment that considers water as a merely economic good. Without water, life is
threatened. (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church §485). Catholic social teaching
articulates the understood principle in Catholicism that all members of the Church are called to
provide for, care for, and protect the dignity and well being of all creation, especially one s fellow
man. This comes from the recognition of every individual as being unique and important in the eyes of
God, due to being made in His image and likeness. Therefore, it is pivotal that the poor especially, and
all creation, are always accounted for in the decisions that a country makes regarding its economic and
political future. Because of this, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

economic needs (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church §466). The Catholic Church
further warns: Man thinks that he can make arbitrary use of the earth, subjecting it without restraint to
his will, as though it did not have its own requisites and a prior God given purpose, which man can
indeed develop but must not betray (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church §460). If a

Confucianism And Legalism
The law in which the Qin constructed was harsh and unjust. They abolished the Zhou ist feudal
system, replacing it with controlled local administration. The term in which this practice is called is
Legalism; the belief in which people are born with evil tendencies. The government demanded total
subordination of the people to the ruler. Although there is no commonly recognized founder, there is
one person who is credited for the establishment of Legalism: Shang Yang, an important statesman
during the Warring States Period for the Qin. The policies and measures initiated by Shang Yang were
all designed to strengthen the state at the expense of the common people and the nobility, to subjugate
the society under state domination. Through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This system was to keep everyone in their place and avoid rebellions and uprisings. There were
reports of subordination put into place once every three months, summaries every six, and permanent
records every twelve. There was a doctrine fixed into law, called the Six Parasites. This is however a
textual problem, there are actually sixteen. These parasites were rites, music, odes, history, cultivation,
goodness, filial devotion, brotherly love, sincerity, trustworthiness, uprightness, integrity, humaneness,
rightness, criticism of army, and lastly being ashamed of fighting. To violate any of these laws against
the six was subject to punishment. Death to any criminals and any officials who allowed crimes, their
punishments were carried out to their families and three generations after. When punishments are
imposed, they shall not be applied to the guilty party alone. Punishments were severe. Small crimes
were punished severly to make sure the punishment was understood and not repeated, especially if it
were a larger crime. When Shang Yang wrote, ...if they let their ambition go too far, they will become
too strong... it is interpreted that knowledge and aspiration for a better life can be power and lead to
rebellion against the government. More consequential victims were the critical thinking of Legalists
and the spirit of ruling by law, blamed for Qin s demise and condemned for two millennia by
Confucians advocating the rule by men

The Black Death As A Turning Point Essay
The Black Death was a bubonic plague pandemic that spread throughout Medieval England during the
years 1348 1350. The Black Death is believed to have killed between 30 45% of people in England
alone. There were numerous ideas if what the cause of the disease was but in reality, was a bacteria
born disease from the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which was carried on the fleas off infected black rats
and spread to Europe by Genoese trading ships from Asia. Some historians believed the Black Death
marked the beginning of a deep recession within Britain as well as the beginning of the Renaissance, a
period of striking artistic expression, whereas other historians seem to take the view point that the
Black Death simply amplified an already declining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless, the decline in population may have simply marked a continuation of what was already
happening in Britain as according to Waley demographic growth had come to an end before the Black
Death had arrived in Europe and that it merely accentuated an existing trend, due to the severe living
conditions at the time as a result of poor sanitation and the Great Famine of 1315 17.
Inflation and a shortage of labour supply immediately implemented farmers as would likely have not
been able to afford to pay for their land due to a loss of rental income from tenants, causing them to
lose their land. Many farmers, according to Rubin sought to move away from labour intensive
cultivation to more diverse activities such as mining, pasturing and fisheries, as required less care than
crops, indicating a turning point in the ways that farmers sought to earn their money. This is supported
by Dyer , who analysed the consumption of foodstuffs of harvest workers in Norfolk, to find an
intensification in meat consumption to 15% in 1353 from 9% in 1341 and a decrease in bread
consumption from 34% in 1341, to 31% in 1353. This indicates a clear shift, which may have resulted
from the impacts of the Black Death, inferring that there may have been a turning point at the time as

Oh, The Shark Has Pretty Teeth Dear and He Show s em, Pearly White When the image of a vampire
is brought to mind one imagines a tall, thin and pale European aristocratic man dressed in fine clothes
and displaying a set of pearly white fangs. However neither the aristocratic status nor the fangs can be
found in folkloric accounts of vampirism. The true image of a vampire is a difficult thing to describe
due to the influence that different cultures have had on the development of the myth. The depiction of
vampirism in Bram Stoker s Dracula and Richard Matheson s I Am Legend differ from one another
and while these depictions stray from the folkloric accounts of vampires both find their roots in
legend. The folkloric vampire has taken many different forms and has held a variety of traits, skills
and weaknesses; each mirroring the customs, beliefs, and fears of different cultures (Bartlett 1). I can
be difficult to find one all encompassing description of a vampire due to the myths discrepancy among
cultures. Vampire myths and legends exist in many cultures spanning the globe. Each has its own

Cultural Heritage Of The French Tourism
Tourism in France is an important activity, both for the French who choose to spend their holidays,
and foreigners who come to stay. Thus, since 1990, France became the first tourist destination in the
world. The tourist attraction of France is due to the large number and wide variety of points of interest,
diversity of landscapes, the rich cultural and artistic heritage, the temperate climate and ease of access
and transport infrastructure, but also the important equipment in the country and varied reception
facilities (hotels, amusement parks...). Thus, each department is a French tourist department with
several points of interest. France has a rich well known cultural heritage, favored by many sites listed
as World Heritage of UNESCO. The French tourism has many different facets and positive economic
impacts and France makes every effort to maintain the liveliness of this important asset. The history of
tourism in France began around 1760 in the south of France in Hyeres, becoming a common winter
resort renowned among UK thanks to its relatively mild Mediterranean climate. In 1910 Alexandre
Millerand, the French Minister of Public Works at the time, created the first tourism office, with the
desire to promote those places that must be contemplated and visited by many. The intellectual vision
that covers his entourage will then change since we will be more aware of our surroundings. We
decide consciously to build tourism in these places. However, the trip is

The Religion Of The Hebrew People
If one were to discuss Western civilization in its entirety, it would be difficult not to include Judaism,
the religion of the Hebrew people. The Hebrews, the ancestors of the Jewish people, were a small
generally nomadic group of herders from Mesopotamia that would eventually settle in early Palestine
to birth a religious movement that would ripple through the known world for millennia to come.
Judaism, whose name comes from the ancient southern kingdom of Judah, is one of the world s oldest
living religions, in addition to being the first religion based on monotheism, or a belief in one God,
and would later become the driving force behind Christianity, the primary religion of the West.

Isaac would eventually have two offspring as well, Esau and Jacob, who according to tradition warred
with each other before birth in Jacob s wife Rebecca s womb. Upon Isaac s old age he prepared to give
a blessing to his son Esau, but was tricked by his wife to give the blessing instead to Jacob, in turn
causing a blood feud between the brothers. Fearing for his life Jacob would flee to live far away with
his uncle. In his absence he would father 12 sons, each of which birthing the 12 tribes of Judah.
Eventually Jacob would return to reconcile with his brother Esau, but not before wrestling with an
angel to receive a blessing from him. Blessing Jacob, the angel gave him a new name, calling him
Israel or he who wrestled with God. The Jewish people would later be referred to as the Children of
Israel signifying descent from Jacob.
Jacobs twelve sons, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Zebulun, Issachar, Dan, Gad, Asher, Naphtali,
Joseph and Benjamin were the ancestors for the tribes of Israel, and the ones for whom they were
named. Josephs older brothers would grow jealous of him, as he was the favorite of Israel and because
of his gift of visions, and would later be sold into slavery out of jealousy, finding himself as a slave in
Egypt. Eventually, Josephs gift to interpret visions earned him a place in the Pharoah s court, which

Wimmer and Dominick (1994) proposed that U G began in the 1940s when researchers became
interested in why audiences engaged in various forms of media behavior, such as listening to the radio

reward and delayed reward model of media gratifications (Dozier Rice, 1984). Regardless, early U G
studies were primarily descriptive, seeking to classify the responses of audience members into
meaningful categories (Berelson, Lazarsfeld, McPhee, 1954; Katz Lazarsfeld, 1955; Lazarsfeld,

The National Center for Health Statistics, in a statement released also stated that there is quite possibly

used by native peoples in their puberty and initiation rites ceremonies. This coming of age ceremony,
was lengthy and intensive, involving the whole community. Boys, and sometimes girls, after ingesting
the drug would pass out and were thought to be transported to another world. They were expected to

Although we know him now as one of the key founders of the mission system, Fr. Serra actually had
spent twenty year prior to this as a missionary in Mexico. Due in large part to his strength of character
and incredibly charismatic personality, Fr. Serra was chosen for the mission project because of success
in gaining conversions in Mexico. As we have learned, the mission system turned out to be a failure
and a source of many abuses against the native people. Because of this, it is a subject of much
controversy as to whether or not Fr. Serra will be canonized a saint. It would seem that Fr. Serra had
good intentions, but it s difficult to understand how a man of such integrity could overlook the harm
being done to the native population.

native Californians numbered over three hundred thousand. Reflecting the richness and diversity of
California s geography, the native peoples of California were of a rich and diverse culture, speaking

The Scientific Theory Of Science
Science is based on fact through the processes of falsification. It is a utility function in society and is
widely consistent with the evidence of history and practice of rational thinking. Progress in science
since the fourteenth century has been revolutionary and valuable in the methods used for rationality
and reasoning. Scientific methods that are used to establish rationality is due to the simple, general
and rigorous explanations of the phenomena, (Diamond, 1998). This essay will explore the reasons to
the extent of the role of science in reason, displaying perspectives from respected philosophers,
politicians and scientists throughout time. Politician rather than scientist, Francis Bacon (1561 1627)
was the man who made a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His methods were also able to revolutionise reasoning as he was against the use of knowledge that had
been inherited from the past. Following Bacon s methods, scientists and philosophers have adopted his
methods and utilised the knowledge to better the results in order to establish the truth. Bacon s work
should be seen as a part of a widespread cultural revolution accelerated by the rise of the printing
press in the 15 th century (source). Bacon believed that scientific knowledge increases and grows.
Bacon s methods of testing hypotheses was highly valuable in the movement of science as a rational
enterprise. Furthermore, scientist Rene Descartes (1596 1650) changed the world from within the
realm of practicality to reasoning through the applications of thinking rather than acting upon or
doing, I think therefore, I am. This gave reasoning in society a far more prominent role. Descartes is
believed to have been the first philosopher to use reason in the development of the natural sciences.
He used maths and physics as his basis for reasoning in the sciences. Primarily, Descartes had three
visions in which he was certain a divine spirit had led him to reveal a new philosophy. Descartes
believed that all truths were linking together and in order to find the fundamental truth, continuing
with logic and reasoning would broaden the use of the sciences

yesteryears. Change has taken form to reflect society s economy, demographics, and overall trends

the main roles reflected a nation with an influx of European immigrants that lacked the tools and

desegregation were paramount in school counselors learning to work with racially and ethnically

event that occurred during this era was the creation of the American School Counselor Association
(ASCA) in 1952. Carl Roger s client centered therapy was also incorporated into the school counselor

America through the Vietnam war and stop communism, he planned was to escalate the war. The Gulf
of Tonkin resolution was what really involved the US in the war and made them a big part of it. The
alleged attacks of North Vietnam on the USS Maddox angered America and it was a way for Johnson
to organise attacks on North Vietnam. He now had an excuse and his main view on the war was to
escalate it. Although he had a lot of support from US citizens, there were some people protesting
against his approach towards the war later on.

This is one of the main reasons why he began the process of Vietnamization which was to train, equip
and prepare South Vietnamese soldiers to protect and fight for themselves against the North
Vietnamese.
In conclusion, we can say that US policies changed during the presidencies of Johnson and Nixon due
to two major reasons that link to each other the media which transferred raw news from Vietnam to
America and then led to people protesting and standing against the government, reducing the support
the army had and making many people refuse to join the war.
The media put pressure on the government as it made people question what they were doing and it
produced guilt for people, this then led people putting more pressure on the government. At the time
of this, the media had many different methods in letting people know what was happening and
therefore they were able to reach more people. They used pictures, articles and most importantly they
televised what was happening. If the media did not have the right resources to do all of this, US
policies might have not changed as they did because each president would have used as much power
and weapons as they wanted on Vietnam because people would not know the truth of what was
happening as only sugar coated news by the government would have reached

grace to glory.

McQuown 2005). Web analytics can tell a business their website s traffic levels, its referral sources
and user behaviour and interactions (Sharma 2015). Data analytics is the process of examining big
data to find possible hidden patterns, unknown correlations and other useful information that can be
used to make better decisions (Kapdoskar et al. 2015). Data analytics is making businesses smarter
and more productive as they can make better predictions by analysing trends in the data (Kapdoskar et
al. 2015). The main difference between web and data analytics is that web analytics analyses a website
only, whereas data analytics analyses big data. Examples of where web analytics is useful for
supporting businesses (Sharma 2015): Improve website design and user experience Web analytics

Elevation drawings and plans lay out the details of construction, they are useful to ensure the structure adheres to any local codes, however more detailed drawings are required for construction known as final renderings.1 Drawings are therefore a fundamental form of documentation that informs a building s production. On the other hand, the emergence of archigram in the post war era encouraged the imagination and was a platform that challenged previous form of representation. Archigram placed as much influence on the context of the building and depicting its urban surrounding as much as emphasising the building itself. In addition, architectural photography provoked the emergence of modern forms and structures; however, contextualizing buildings within the image was unnecessary. It was believed that architecture could reform people architecture is the art one lives in and thus rational design could make rational societies.2 This idea was very much a driving force of representation which drawings, photography and archigram intended to reform their urban landscape. There were reports of subordination put into place once every three months, summaries every six, and permanent records every twelve. There was a doctrine fixed into law, called the Six Parasites. This is however a textual problem, there are actually sixteen. These parasites were rites, music, odes, history, cultivation, goodness, filial devotion, brotherly love, sincerity, trustworthiness, uprightness, integrity, humaneness, rightness, criticism of army, and lastly being ashamed of fighting. To violate any of these laws against the six was subject to punishment. • 23. The Black Death As A Turning Point Essay The Black Death was a bubonic plague pandemic that spread throughout Medieval England during the years 1348 1350. The Black Death is believed to have killed between 30 45% of people in England alone. There were numerous ideas if what the cause of the disease was but in reality, was a bacteria born disease from the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which was carried on the fleas off infected black rats and spread to Europe by Genoese trading ships from Asia. Some historians believed the Black Death marked the beginning of a deep recession within Britain as well as the beginning of the Renaissance, a period of striking artistic expression, whereas other historians seem to take the view point that the Black Death simply amplified an already declining ... Regardless, the decline in population may have simply marked a continuation of what was already happening in Britain as according to Waley demographic growth had come to an end before the Black Death had arrived in Europe and that it merely accentuated an existing trend, due to the severe living conditions at the time as a result of poor sanitation and the Great Famine of 1315 17. Inflation and a shortage of labour supply immediately implemented farmers as would likely have not been able to afford to pay for their land due to a loss of rental income from tenants, causing them to lose their land. Many farmers, according to Rubin sought to move away from labour intensive cultivation to more diverse activities such as mining, pasturing and fisheries, as required less care than crops, indicating a turning point in the ways that farmers sought to earn their money. This is supported by Dyer , who analysed the consumption of foodstuffs of harvest workers in Norfolk, to find an intensification in meat consumption to 15% in 1353 from 9% in 1341 and a decrease in bread consumption from 34% in 1341, to 31% in 1353. This indicates a clear shift, which may have resulted from the impacts of the Black Death, inferring that there may have been a turning point at the time as there was a ... However neither the aristocratic status nor the fangs can be found in folkloric accounts of vampirism. The true image of a vampire is a difficult thing to describe due to the influence that different cultures have had on the development of the myth. The depiction of vampirism in Bram Stoker s Dracula and Richard Matheson s I Am Legend differ from one another and while these depictions stray from the folkloric accounts of vampires both find their roots in legend. The folkloric vampire has taken many different forms and has held a variety of traits, skills and weaknesses; each mirroring the customs, beliefs, and fears of different cultures (Bartlett 1). I can be difficult to find one all encompassing description of a vampire due to the myths discrepancy among cultures. Vampire myths and legends exist in many cultures spanning the globe.
