Fatigue Contributed And A Serious Medication Error
Fatigue contributed to a serious medication error in Wisconsin. After working a 16 hour shift, a
labor/delivery nurse came in the next morning to work another shift. Because she d had only a few
hours off between shifts, she d arranged to sleep at the hospital. Late in the morning of the second day,
she admitted a young patient. The physician had ordered an antibiotic to be given right away. The
nurse picked up what she thought was the antibiotic and hung it without scanning the patient or the
medication. Tragically, the drug she actually gave wasn t the antibiotic but bupivacaine fentanyl, an
epidural anesthetic. The patient died within an hour. Initially, the nurse was charged with felony
neglect of a patient causing great bodily harm, but pled guilty to the misdemeanor of dispensing and
illegally obtaining a prescription. Her nursing license was suspended for 9 months and she was barred
from working in an obstetric or critical care area or working any shift longer than 12 hours (American
Nurse Today 25). For the past 15 years many people have devoted their time and effort into the great
debate centered around eight versus 12 hour nursing shifts. Twelve hour shifts date back to the 1970s
when they were used as a means of holding onto staff during the national nursing crisis, and have
continued to gain popularity ever since. This crisis, due to the shortage of nurses, was the result of, the
growing population across the USA after World War II . . . and shortages in the

The Roman Way Of Life Has Been Known To Us As One For...
The Roman way of life has been known to us as one for domination and expansion, at home and
abroad.
Throughout the duration of the second century Romans have been known for their brut forms of
expansions
through extraordinary military campaigns however, accompanied by on home soil with political
sparked violence
and triggered civil unrest due to reformations and thirst for power.
Through direct analyzation of ancient sources written by Plutarch on the lives of the Gracchus
brothers Tiberius

can discuss
as to what caused violence to become an endemic part of Roman political life during 133 43 B.C.

It was commonly believed that the senators bribed Octavius to veto Tiberius s
proposal for the reform. That had created a rivalry between the two tribunes.
Nevertheless, the vote was accepted by the assembly and ultimately the law was passed.
Tiberius was favoured by the population masses however, due to various reasons
further on and with an attempt for re election at a time which strict and unbendable term limits were
imposed,
Tiberius was perceived as power hungry with ambitions of becoming a king by the senators. The
paranoia and
hate of the senators towards Tiberius had tipped and during one of the gatherings at the Capitol,

Burning Pelt Analysis
Tashi Delek, Tashi Delek, Tashi Delek translated to good luck and cheers is screamed and heard

be burned in the name of various reasons; from the request of the Dalai Lama in environmentalism

for wealth and stature, not only in Tibet, but in exotic areas around the world. Although the pelts itself
were illegal and is the sale of it across borders it was still done. The acquisition of the pelts were not

Self Love Is Vital For Living A Full Healthy Life
Self love is vital to living a full healthy life. It impacts who you fall in love with, how you present
yourself to the world, and how you cope with the certain problems you have in life. Insecurities play a
major role in ones self worth. Girls begin at a very young age forming these insecurities around all
aspects of their life. Earlier and earlier girls are comparing themselves to others on how they should
look like, creating images of unrealistic expectations of who they should be. I know for my daughter
who is 11 is already beginning to wonder why certain women look a certain way. I am constantly
reminding her of her own self worth to be for her and no one else. More young women need to find
their own voice, because the more self love you have for yourself, the better prepared you are for life,
and the relationships within your life. A lot can be gained from finding self awareness for all aspects in
your life, and from loving yourself comes trust for all involved.
Whether that may be your parents, friends, or even more important your partner without trust is
something that is mandatory. Trust is something that will be the foundation in maintaining in almost
every relationship you will ever encounter. All relationships that people build are based on trust on the
other person s true intentions. Without trust, there would be no relationship at all. (Masters) This
statement literally says it all, trust is one of the things that every relationship starts with, yet one

Propaganda Techniques In Animal Farm
The Use of Propaganda Techniques in Animal Farm Oppressive dictators will go to extraordinary
extremes and use tyrannical techniques to manipulate their citizens. Animal Farm, a satirical novel
written by George Orwell in 1944 45, offers powerful political commentary on totalitarian regimes
and the extent that leaders will go to in order to control their subjects and maintain political power.
Napoleon is a pig on the farm that supports the rebellion against a human named Mr. Jones, embraces
the philosophy of Animalism, ascends to power, and ultimately rules ruthlessly, evolving into a
corrupt and terrorizing character. In Animal Farm, Napoleon utilizes propaganda devices such as the
big lie, scapegoating, and manipulation of language to control the other animals on the farm. The big
lie, a ploy that offers a misrepresentation or distortion of facts, is used by Napoleon in order to
intentionally deceive the inhabitants of Animal Farm. At the start of the novel, Old Major, a respected
and aging pig, has pondered the ways that humans had taken advantage of the animals on the farm. He
develops the concept of Animalism, where all animals are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Major died. They are in a rather influential position, considering that they are the ones capable of

Farm, The Seven Commandments serve as a basic constitution comprised of simplistic vocabulary.
Originally, they were painted on the barn wall and read as follows: The Seven Commandments 1.
Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. 2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.

Deer Dont Need To Stay Trouble-Free Research Paper
Deer Don t Need to Flee to Stay Trouble Free!
Have you ever been in trouble and wanted to get away? The white tailed deer can swim, run, hide, and
fight to stay out of trouble. If you want to know how they do it, read on.
In early April, fawns (baby deer) are born. After a few weeks, the doe (the mother deer) leaves her
fawns to find food. The doe leaves her fawns in a bushy place. The trees and grass can help keep the
fawns from being seen by hungry predators. The white tailed deer has many predators, such as these:
mountain lions, bobcats, leopards, lions, dogs, bears, tigers, coyotes, wolves, and even humans.
The fawns camouflage hides them in April s trees and golden grasses. In spring, the fawns fur is

What Is The Theme Of Contrapasso In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s Inferno, a permeating theme of the work is the idea of contrapasso. Contrapasso is only
mentioned once and late in the Inferno in Canto XXVIII of XXXIV by Bertran de Born: In me you
may observe fit punishment / Cosí s osserva in me lo contrapasso (XXVIII. 142). Although the literary
device of contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno, the tool is used in every circle
and subdivision in hell. Contrapasso is seen in the punishments of the damned in a physical
manifestation, which represents an appropriate mode of retribution in terms of a kind of divine justice.
In Dante s Inferno, contrapasso, while it describes the physical agony of the damned as fit punishment
for their habitual sins, represents the damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dante does not compare the lustful to just any animal; Dante compares them to birds. Dante does this
by writing: As, in cold weather, the wings of starlings / bear them up in wide, dense flocks, / so does
that blast propel the wicked spirits (V. 40 42). The lustful are not only compared to starlings, but are
also compared to cranes: Just as cranes chant their mournful songs, / making a long line in the air, /
thus I saw approach, heaving plaintive sighs (V. 46 48). Comparing the wanton to birds does two
things to them. First, it makes the sinners less than human as the medieval point of view held that lust
is the property of beings less than human (Hollander, p. 103). Secondly, it makes the sinners less than
birds because birds are able to control where they fly, while the lustful are not. Dante explains a little
bit why the lecherous are punished the way they are. He states that he understood that to such torment
/ the carnal sinners are condemned, / they who make reason subject to desire (V. 37 39). Desire
governs the wantons reason instead of reason governing their desire. Since will instead of reason
governed the sinners choices in their lives, then in hell they are experiencing the physical
representation of the choices their souls made. The lustful are at the will of the wind, which blows
them anywhere without any direction. This parallels the choices they made in life as their wills guided
them without the direction of the intellect. The

Account for the growth of TNCs and evaluate their impacts...
Account for the growth of TNCs and evaluate their impacts at the global and national scales (40
marks) A TNC (transnational corporation) is a company that operates in no less than two countries and
has a global outlook. TNCs have a long history going back to the 16th Century in terms of trade such
as spices, but it s not until C. 1945 that companies started to form acquisitions and mergers. The one
key reason why these businesses have been so successful in their area of expertise globally is because
they can take advantage of spatial differences in the factors of production worldwide. They are able to
exploit differences in the availability of capital, labour costs and land cost, which we as a world have
seen, especially in far east ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Growth of TNCs is down to geographical flexibility and being able to shift resources and production
between locations on a global scale in order to maximise profit margins. For example, Coca Cola
Hellenic is leaving Greece; this is so that they don t lose any more money than they already have
done. Athens stock exchange is a lot smaller than it used to be, which has meant the general economic
sickness in the country depresses prices of all companies there. So, the company is to move its
domicile from Greece to Switzerland and the stock listing from Athens to London. This example
perfectly summarises how and why TNCs pack up in certain countries and go on to the next to make
profit, which is what all multinational companies are out to do, make a buck. The growth in TNCs is
also the idea of shifting to a more flexible production system, like JIT production, which stands for
Just In Time. This type of production is exactly what it says on the tin, an order is placed with the
company and only then do they start making the product, this saves time, space and money, as
products are not left in warehouses until an order is placed. This allows for products to be made
quickly and efficiently. In addition, TNCs can take advantage of the advances in technology;
communication and transport meaning the process can be dealt with more quickly, easily and cheaply.
Plus, many TNCs have adapted their production process and have broken in down, this

Marketing For Children s Brand Preferences

Marketers spend huge amounts of dollars a year globally persuading individuals into consumer
lifestyles that has had consequences of wastefulness and buying things we do not need (Beder, 1998).
Advertisements exploit people s securities, create false needs and offer dishonest solutions. The
bottom line of advertisements is the creation of dissatisfaction to cause consumption. Youth are most
prone to this kind of product manipulation (Tepperman Curtis, 2013). Marketers are targeting young
children since they easily influence their parents spending. Traditionally, marketing concentrated on

In 1991, Sweden banned all the advertisements in children prime hours after research established that
children below the age of nine were incapable of differentiating commercial ads and programs and
could not comprehend the purpose of marketing until the age of 12 years. Research from American
Psychological Association (APA) indicates that children under the age of eight cannot comprehend
televised advertised messages and readily accept the advertiser s message as truthful and accurate.
This leads to unhealthy feeding habits as proved by the increased cases of obesity. This paper will
critically analyze the current marketing situation and its impact on the children.
What is known
The order and stability of the society are cognizant to a consensus on the values, norms and the
interconnected parts of the community (Tepperman Curtis, 2013). The maintenance of the society is
dependent on the different parts fulfilling their functions which are evident in the analogy of society
and biological organisms. The body is made up of many organs which must work together for the
living organism to survive (Tepperman Curtis, 2013). Similarly, social institutions must work together
for the survival of the society. Media contributes to the maintenance of the society by surveilling the
environment, entertainment, social heritage and correlating parts of the community. Structural

How Does Antigone Make Mundane Decisions
Any choice, from the bold defiances of the protagonists to the mundane decisions of small side
characters, have behind them a whole host of factors. This is also true for the choices made by the
casts of both Antigone and the adjustment bureau, in which a compound of factors all results in
choices for characters, though the factors are drastically different. In Antigone, it s a series of
individual past events that convinces a character to make a decision. These decisions then themselves
acts as contributing factors to a different characters decisions. For example, during the falling action
of the play, Creon says, Now I am on my way! Come, each of you, take up axes, make for the high
ground, over there, quickly! I and my better judgment has come around to this I shackled her, I ll set

I am afraid... It s best to keep the established laws to the very day we die. In this quote, Creon decides
to go back on his will, which is already rare for such a stubborn character, but he also does this in
order to save who he considers an enemy to his states, even seeming to repentant of it. However, this
is not random. In fact, it was actually caused by three main factors: the prophesies of Tiresias
revealing that he and his city and family will suffer if he continues on his immoral path, the consul of
the leader, a sort of mentor character, to give in to his advice and unbury her, and the popular support
of Antigone over Creon. Thus, it was these three factors that were more or less independent of each
other that weighed on Creon, and this caused him to make his choice. By contrast of this, The
Adjustment Bureau holds every decision as a calculated part of a plan, and is carefully plotted out to it
occur by fate, with the intention that each factor to a choice is simply to coerce a decision out of a

the same old excuses. It blamed the Muslim Brotherhood for what it called riots on the streets and
blamed their members for infiltrating the crowds in order to wreak havoc. This is supposed to do the
trick of scaring the world about the propsect of an imminent Islamist takeover of Egypt a fear that the

no doubt, happening in another country.

Dominican Music and Film
The Caribbean island nation of the Dominican Republic is little known by most Americans, but
America is ever present in the Dominican consciousness. Until Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire went
head to head in the legendary homerun battle of 1998, few Americans were aware of any American
Dominican rivalry in western hemispheric culture. Nothing gave Dominicans more pride than to see
Sosa hold Major League Baseball s homerun record, albeit for less than 24 hours before McGuire
reclaimed U.S. dominance in America s favorite pastime. Only merengue, a tropical music and dance

States. For years, Dominican musicians and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the dictatorship, popular lyrics extolled the virtues of Trujillismo even as it was speciously

After Trujillo was killed in an assassination plot that many Dominicans deemed heroic (see next

merengue Johnny Ventura, summarily dropped the overt propaganda, but they emerged from the
Trujillo era with a heightened awareness of the power of their craft. Johnny Ventura would later
become an active political figure, and in 1998, win the mayoral election of Santo Domingo, the capital
and largest city of the Dominican Republic. In an interview in the summer of 2000, Johnny Ventura
asserts, I believe getting involved #8212;not just the artists #8212;in the search for solutions to the

How To Hit The Snare Drum
It is important to make it a habit to assume the correct sitting position every time you sit behind your
drum kit. This reduces the chance of any form of injuries because your muscles will not overstrain but
rather support your body as you play your instruments. Without a doubt, the backbeat is the
foundation of all rock drumming. The backbeat is the driving rhythm that the snare drum plays. You
almost always play this rhythm on the second and fourth beats of the measure. The backbeat gives
rock music its characteristically driving feel. As a rock drummer, you need to play the backbeat with
conviction. No limpwristed, drop the stick on the head stuff here. You need to really hit the drum.

Entrepreneurship and firm creation generate jobs
The creations of new businesses and the contraction or exit of less productive firms are key elements
in the dynamism of modern economies. New firms attract resources to new activities, and when they
prosper and are able to grow rapidly, they generate significant numbers of new jobs. Empirical work at
the OECD indicates that entry of new firms in most countries is similar to exit of existing firms, and
perhaps surprisingly, there do not appear to be great differences in entry and exit rates across
countries. On the other hand, young firms seem likely to grow

Religious Symbols And Symbolism Of The Visit, A Book, Like...
Throughout history, one of the most prominent facets of any society is religion. It influences every
aspect of civilization, from culture to government and from social rules to music. Literature, too,
cannot escape the grasp religion holds on society. Works like Paradise Lost and The Divine Comedy
show the awesome power religion inspires within people; contrastively, works like Huckleberry Finn
and The Visit show the rampant cynicism religion inspires within people. Written by Swiss author
Friedrich Dürrenmatt, The Visit is filled with religious symbols and references to Christianity. Instead
of honoring the religion, though, the references only ridicules it.

Half a century prior, Ill [denies] paternity of his illegitimate child with Claire, bringing along two
witnesses whom he has bribed in order to escape his sentence (32), sentencing Claire to a life of
prostitution. The contradiction between Ill s connection to Christ and life of sin mocks what Christ is.
If Ill can still function as a Christ figure while having committed major sins, then Christ could have
done the same. Dürrenmatt is arguing that the church itself is not free of sin, as much as they would
like to appear to be. Connections and contradictions between Ill and Christ satirize Christ and mock
the church.
In continuance of this biblical metaphor, the town serves as the Judas to Ill s Christ, but their moral
absolvement for killing Ill implies moral absolvement for Judas, which deconstructs the entire story of
Christ. Like Judas to Christ, the town sells Ill out for the prospect of money. Once Claire places the
one billion dollar price on Ill s head, it s already decided that the townspeople are going to kill him;
the temptation is far too strong and [their] poverty is too wretched (85). They have no choice other
than to choose the money over him, which they do. But, in the end, the townspeople have convinced

The Theme Of The Lottery
Judging by Shirley Jackson s title The Lottery I was reading with an expectation to learn of someone

has no money in it and no one learns any lessons. In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery a small town holds
a lottery to see who will be stoned to death by the whole town showing the reader how twisted the
author is but also slightly showing the reality that in some places in the world such things to do
happen and it is crazy to think it is considered normal by some. From the start there is an aerie feeling

When you say it out loud it sounds crazy. It sounds like a good story and perhaps the premise of a

India and Africa still sacrifice humans for their beliefs. This really puts a story like this in perspective.
For instance, if this story were to be read to those select individuals in the world that still sacrifice
people for good crops and such things then they would probably think of this story as dull and
uninteresting because nothing is out of the ordinary to them. These sacrificial beliefs are of course
only a part of a few societies of the many all over the world. In my daily life within the society I live
in sacrificing people to have better growing vegetables is frowned upon. Not too many people support

Power Dynamic Between A Years Old And A Bengal Tiger
The Power Dynamic between a Sixteen Year Old and a Bengal Tiger Who has the power? A sixteen
year old or a Bengal tiger? Power is typically concerned with who or what has control over someone
or something else, so the question almost seems silly, because what could a young teenage boy have
over a carnivorous, wild animal? Although it may seem obvious that the wild animal would have
control over the boy, the answer is not as definite in the Life of Pi by Yann Martel. In the novel, the
tiger, Richard Parker, and the teenage boy, Pi Patel share power. In other words, the two characters
share power because of the unusual dynamic of equals between them. As a result of their dynamic, it

Parker would have eventually died of starvation or dehydration if Pi had not been there taking care of
him. Thus, Richard Parker s reliance on Pi gave Pi power over Richard Parker.
The way in which Pi assumed this power over Richard Parker was by establishing himself as an equal
to him. As Pi brought food to the tiger, Pi would use whistles to remind Richard Parker of who
provided him with food and water: ...not forgetting to blow the whistle hard several times, to remind
Richard Parker of who had so graciously provided him with fresh food (Martel 206). This method Pi
had developed proved to be successful on his mission to become equals with Richard Parker when Pi
stared into [Richard Parker s] eyes, wide eyed and defiant, and [they] faced off (Martel 246). Pi knew
that if he looked away and backed down, the tiger would never see him as an equal, because Richard
Parker would see

The Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards
ABSTRACT
Today s economy demands a better educated workforce than ever before, and jobs in this new
economy require more complex knowledge and skills than the jobs of the past. The California
Department of Education and the California State Board of Education are pleased to present the
California Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, Grades Seven
through Twelve. The California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards, Grades
Seven Through Twelve, adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE) in 2005, was designed to help
achieve that goal by providing educators with rigorous, balanced standards reflecting both the
essential knowledge needed to achieve a seamless transition to careers or postsecondary education or
training and the specific skills required for each of the state s 58 career pathways.
This publication, the Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, is the
blueprint for educators to use in implementing the career technical education (CTE) model curriculum
standards adopted by the SBE. It provides a context for the content laid out by the standards, discusses
best practices, and explores important issues in the implementation of those standards.
INTRODUCTION
Career and technical education (CTE) is an educational strategy for providing young people with the
academic, technical, and employability skills and knowledge to pursue postsecondary training or
higher education and enter a career field

Pros And Cons Of The Death Penalty
The Death Penalty The death penalty has become an extremely pressing issue in our culture today.
Both sides of the argument make very valid points. On one side the death penalty could potentially
make citizens feel more safe, and on the other hand people can argue that us as mere humans do not
have the authority to play God. I believe the death penalty should be abolished for a variety of
reasons; our government is a broken system, a proposed law would not end all murders, and we, as
humans, should not have the authority to determine whether someone lives or dies. In the article
Capital Punishment Should Be Temporarily Suspended the author Russ Feingold talks about our
corrupt government, and gives an example of a man convicted of a crime ... Show more content on

He loves and cherishes His people, and because we bear His image He is a God of justice. When Jesus
died on the cross He fulfilled the old law, or the Old Testament; when his blood was shed it pardons us
from a spiritual death penalty. When reading the New Testament it is full of new framework; rather
than constant justice, there is grace and mercy. The New Testament calls out hypocrisy. For example,
in John 8:2 11 Jesus shows His followers and disciples that we no longer need to condemn others for a
sin that they are in, because we have not removed the plank in our own eye.
At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat
down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in
adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, Teacher, this woman was caught in
the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say? 6
They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing

The Effect Of The Judgemental Nature Of Puritans In...
Junior Research Paper Society is made of many different types of people. Some people commit their
lives to the church, others commit their lives to helping others. No matter how different and noble
members of society may appear, they all have something in common: sin. Members of Puritan society
all have this in common, and therefore should be less critical of each other. The effect of the
judgemental nature of Puritans in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is demonstrated by
recurring dark and light themes, representing restriction and freedom from judgement. Hawthorne s
use of the archetypal symbols of darkness and light suggests his view that the Puritan society was
excessively judgemental of their members and that all societies should be less critical. Hawthorne uses
the symbol of darkness to communicate his view of Puritan society and judgement. Hawthorne applies
darkness to the conventional Puritan citizens and to those who do not follow the societal rules to show
the effect that Puritan judgement has. Darkness archetypally represents evil, and when parallelled with
light in The Scarlet Letter also symbolizes restriction. The Puritan society has in place many
restrictions, one of which being strictly against adultery. These restrictions are enforced by characters
such as the town beadle, or officer. When Hester, the protagonist guilty of adultery is freed from jail, a
figure appears with her like a black shadow emerging into sunshine, the grim and grisly

Professor Charla Session Reed
March 18, 2011
Abstract Implementing pricing strategy decisions requires properly addressing organizational issues
related to how decisions are made and enforced as well as motivational issues that encourage
managers to engage in more profitable behaviors. Pricing decisions are strategic and critical to the
success of your company. The prices you charge for your products affect demand, thus causing a
ripple effect across your company s output, revenues, costs, and income. With a sound pricing
strategy, your company is in a better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If there are separate managers for these functional areas, each should play a role in |
|building the pricing strategy. If a single individual serves in all these roles, then that individual must
be sure to wear all the hats while |

make them highly effective. |
|Pricing decisions are made on two levels. Typically, pricing strategy is developed with a long term
view to price levels and positioning, and |

|Effective pricing requires that the long term pricing strategy be supported by the day today tactical
decisions; however, that does not |

the same person or at the same level within|

Review Of Old Mother Savage
Assignment One The Question states: Write an essay about SKILL in the story Old Mother Savage.
By skill I mean both the skill and the intelligence that the woman shows in doing what she does, and
planning it, and also the skill and intelligence of the writer, de Maupassant. That is to say, how well,
and effectively, the writing works, and how it reaches the heart (if it does) and is real. Write as well
and as intelligently as you can, and please quote from the story in order to support the points that you
make. The definition of Skill: The ability to do something well; expertise. A particular ability. The
word skill encompasses a wide variety of meaning in its definition compared to how few words it
contains. In the following, I will describe some of the interesting examples of skill and lack of skill
that I found throughout the story, Old Mother Savage. I found these examples of skill in the narrator of
the story; in the flashback storyteller, Serval; in the main character, Old Mother Savage; as well as in
the writer himself, Guy de Maupassant. The Story Narrator s Skill. At the very of the beginning of the
story, the reader is greeted with a long description of his surroundings and overall feelings about
nature. This was coupled with the recollection that the narrator had when walking, where he
remembered having met Old Mother Savage, the ...good woman of the house... (line 31). I believe that
this gives the narrator a reason to ask Serval what has happened to the

Why The Price Of Crude Oil
This essay will explain why the price of crude oil has fallen so dramatically. Also, it will analyse the
impact the fall in the price will have on major oil producing nations. Moreover, it will explore the
effect that the fall in price will have on major oil companies and their supply companies. Finally, it
will present how the fall in oil price might affect consumers in the European Union. Crude oil is the
one of the most important natural resource of the industrialised nations, which could generate heat,
drive machinery and fuel vehicles and airplanes (years, someone). Moreover, the crude oil
components are used to manufacture almost all chemical products, such as plastic, detergents, paints
and medicines (years, someone). Also, it plays a significant role in expanding technical ability to
discover new sources and extending the production lives of existing oil fields. Therefore, constant
changes in the price of the crude oil have an impact on a global economy (years, someone). According
to Bolton (2014), the oil price reaches the highest price of almost $150 a barrel in July 2008 and felt in
the second half of 2008 as the global financial crisis started. There are a many reasons why the price
were so high until the first half of 2008. Since 2002, the high demand for fuels in rapidly developing
countries, such as China and India increased. In addition, there was frequent disruptions to supply
crude oil to the global markets, such as political and security situation in

Stereotypes In My Little Pony
A male age 15 and over who is a fanatic of the show My Little Pony is called a brony. Mainstream
society describes these people as homosexuals, perverts, and jobless men who live with their parents.
People aren t hesitant to quickly label bronies as the rejects of society. Most bronies, at first, don t feel
comfortable telling people about their My Little Pony addiction because they are afraid of society s
oppressive ways. According to some bronies in the video, they are picked on at school for liking a
little girl s show. They look up at mainstream society and realize that their acceptance is denied
because of society s judgmental ways. However, to get over the fact that many people disapprove of

Modern Technology And Its Impact On Modern Society Essay
Modern technology has undoubtedly had a profound impact on contemporary society. However, critics
of modern technology emphasize that modern technology has had deleterious effects on young
Americans. In The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and
Jeopardizes Our Future: Or, Don t Trust Anyone under 30, Mark Bauerlein attempts to argue that the
young Americans of contemporary society are increasingly unintelligent as a result of modern
technology, but fails to elaborate on his criteria for evaluating intelligence. Bauerlein engages in
fallacious rhetoric while presenting his argument that today s young Americans are part of the
dumbest generation because he fails to acknowledge the beneficial impacts that modern technology
has had on Americans. His overall argument is diminished by his usage of logical fallacies, while
arguments that do not rely on logical fallacies and rather focus on deliberate rhetorical appeals are
more cogent. Bauerlein s failure to contribute relevant evidence and his excessive use of logical
fallacies ultimately hinders his argument that modern technology has led to the decline in youth
intelligence, which is what makes counter arguments presented by other authors, such as Clay Shirky
and Donald Norman s, much more convincing. In his book The Dumbest Generation, Emory Professor
Mark Bauerlein emphasizes his belief that most young Americans avoid learning due to their pre
occupation with modern technology. He

Tennessee Williams Research Paper
Tennessee Williams was born Thomas Lanier Williams, on the 26th of March, 1911 in Columbus,
Mississippi and was the second of three children to Cornelius and Edwina Williams. Tennessee recalls
his father as a womanizing alcoholic , and his mother to be overbearing, sexually repressed and
mentally disturbed, and believed there have been too many instances of extreme eccentricity and even
lunacy in my family . Tennessee Williams had a younger brother named Dakin and an older sister
Rose, who he loved more dearly than anyone. Rose was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, and spent
most of her life in mental institutions following a prefrontal lobotomy as authorized by Edwina. Rose
was his muse, and the haunting inspiration for many of his female ... Show more content on

The 1960 s proved to be tumultuous. Williams hit a creative and emotional collapse, and became
depressed, disillusioned and addicted to prescriptive drugs, and in 1969, his brother Dakin admitted
him to the psychiatric ward at Barnes Hospital in Saint Louis for three months, to which Williams
called a snake pit . After dismissal he started writing again in an attempt to reclaim fame, however a
deep paranoia set in which alienated him from loved ones. After more poor reviews, he turned back to
alcohol, amphetamines and sedatives as a means of coping. Lyle Leverich believes that, the greatest
indignity Williams was made to suffer in his last years was seeing his reputation as a playwright
tarnished by his dissolution . On the 24th of February in 1983, Williams was found dead in his room
of Hotel Elysée, New York, where it was later believed that he had choked on a prescription bottle
cap. Tennessee Williams remains one of the most exciting and articulate American dramatists who,
according to renowned literary critic Stark Young, was a poetic innovator who refused to be confined
to the usual sterilities of our playwriting patterns . Williams was widely acknowledged as being ahead
of his time, with a

Owl Research Papers
For many people, birds are seen to either be pets or wild animals. There is a massive amount of
species when it comes to learning about birds. One of the birds that I decided to do my research paper
on is Owls. The way I describe an owl is a type of bird that has a round head and large eyes, but there
are plenty more ways to describe an owl which is the purpose of this paper. An interesting fact about
owls is that they cannot move their eyes within their sockets like we can. In order to look around, they
have to move their entire head, which has a range of movement of about 270°. Which many people
find creepy and are scared of them. Owls usually fly and hunt at night, so are known to be nocturnal
birds. They eat mice, other small animals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The smallest species is the tiny elf owl, measuring about 6 inches long, that live in western Mexico
and the Southwestern United States. The largest species is the great gray owl that lives deep in woods
of Alaska and Canada as far north as trees grow. Gray owls grow to about 30 inches long. Now that I
have provided general information about the owl it brings me to the part where I talk about their role
in the environment especially in Sequoia National Forest. First and Foremost, we need to address how
there is a couple type of species of owls in Sequoia National Forest. One of them is the spotted owl
which is considered to be the native resident in this forest. The other two types of owls are the
northern pygmy owl which is a small owl native to North and Central America. There is also the
western screech owl which is as well a small owl native to North and Central America, and the
females of the species are also larger than the males. In the article titled Population Dynamics of
Spotted Owls in the Sierra Nevada, California, we are presented with a study to see the dynamics of
how spotted owls are populated around the Sierra Nevada where Sequoia National Forest is located at.
The article conducts a meta analysis of population data for 4

  • 2. Fatigue Contributed And A Serious Medication Error Fatigue contributed to a serious medication error in Wisconsin. After working a 16 hour shift, a labor/delivery nurse came in the next morning to work another shift. Because she d had only a few hours off between shifts, she d arranged to sleep at the hospital. Late in the morning of the second day, she admitted a young patient. The physician had ordered an antibiotic to be given right away. The nurse picked up what she thought was the antibiotic and hung it without scanning the patient or the medication. Tragically, the drug she actually gave wasn t the antibiotic but bupivacaine fentanyl, an epidural anesthetic. The patient died within an hour. Initially, the nurse was charged with felony neglect of a patient causing great bodily harm, but pled guilty to the misdemeanor of dispensing and illegally obtaining a prescription. Her nursing license was suspended for 9 months and she was barred from working in an obstetric or critical care area or working any shift longer than 12 hours (American Nurse Today 25). For the past 15 years many people have devoted their time and effort into the great debate centered around eight versus 12 hour nursing shifts. Twelve hour shifts date back to the 1970s when they were used as a means of holding onto staff during the national nursing crisis, and have continued to gain popularity ever since. This crisis, due to the shortage of nurses, was the result of, the growing population across the USA after World War II . . . and shortages in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It impacts who you fall in love with, how you present yourself to the world, and how you cope with the certain problems you have in life. Insecurities play a major role in ones self worth. Girls begin at a very young age forming these insecurities around all aspects of their life. Earlier and earlier girls are comparing themselves to others on how they should look like, creating images of unrealistic expectations of who they should be. I know for my daughter who is 11 is already beginning to wonder why certain women look a certain way. I am constantly reminding her of her own self worth to be for her and no one else. More young women need to find their own voice, because the more self love you have for yourself, the better prepared you are for life, and the relationships within your life. A lot can be gained from finding self awareness for all aspects in your life, and from loving yourself comes trust for all involved. Whether that may be your parents, friends, or even more important your partner without trust is something that is mandatory. Trust is something that will be the foundation in maintaining in almost every relationship you will ever encounter. All relationships that people build are based on trust on the other person s true intentions. Without trust, there would be no relationship at all. • 8. Propaganda Techniques In Animal Farm The Use of Propaganda Techniques in Animal Farm Oppressive dictators will go to extraordinary extremes and use tyrannical techniques to manipulate their citizens. Animal Farm, a satirical novel written by George Orwell in 1944 45, offers powerful political commentary on totalitarian regimes and the extent that leaders will go to in order to control their subjects and maintain political power. Napoleon is a pig on the farm that supports the rebellion against a human named Mr. Jones, embraces the philosophy of Animalism, ascends to power, and ultimately rules ruthlessly, evolving into a corrupt and terrorizing character. In Animal Farm, Napoleon utilizes propaganda devices such as the big lie, scapegoating, and manipulation of language to control the other animals on the farm. The big lie, a ploy that offers a misrepresentation or distortion of facts, is used by Napoleon in order to intentionally deceive the inhabitants of Animal Farm. At the start of the novel, Old Major, a respected and aging pig, has pondered the ways that humans had taken advantage of the animals on the farm. • 11. What Is The Theme Of Contrapasso In Dante s Inferno In Dante s Inferno, a permeating theme of the work is the idea of contrapasso. Contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno in Canto XXVIII of XXXIV by Bertran de Born: In me you may observe fit punishment / Cosí s osserva in me lo contrapasso (XXVIII. 142). Although the literary device of contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno, the tool is used in every circle and subdivision in hell. Contrapasso is seen in the punishments of the damned in a physical manifestation, which represents an appropriate mode of retribution in terms of a kind of divine justice. In Dante s Inferno, contrapasso, while it describes the physical agony of the damned as fit punishment for their habitual sins, represents the damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dante does not compare the lustful to just any animal; Dante compares them to birds. Dante does this by writing: As, in cold weather, the wings of starlings / bear them up in wide, dense flocks, / so does that blast propel the wicked spirits (V. 40 42). The lustful are not only compared to starlings, but are also compared to cranes: Just as cranes chant their mournful songs, / making a long line in the air, / thus I saw approach, heaving plaintive sighs (V. 46 48). Comparing the wanton to birds does two things to them. First, it makes the sinners less than human as the medieval point of view held that lust is the property of beings less than human (Hollander, p. 103). Secondly, it makes the sinners less than birds because birds are able to control where they fly, while the lustful are not. Dante explains a little bit why the lecherous are punished the way they are. He states that he understood that to such torment / the carnal sinners are condemned, / they who make reason subject to desire (V. 37 39). Desire governs the wantons reason instead of reason governing their desire. Since will instead of reason governed the sinners choices in their lives, then in hell they are experiencing the physical representation of the choices their souls made. The lustful are at the will of the wind, which blows them anywhere without any direction. This parallels the choices they made in life as their wills guided them without the direction of the intellect. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Account for the growth of TNCs and evaluate their impacts at the global and national scales (40 marks) A TNC (transnational corporation) is a company that operates in no less than two countries and has a global outlook. TNCs have a long history going back to the 16th Century in terms of trade such as spices, but it s not until C. 1945 that companies started to form acquisitions and mergers. The one key reason why these businesses have been so successful in their area of expertise globally is because they can take advantage of spatial differences in the factors of production worldwide. They are able to exploit differences in the availability of capital, labour costs and land cost, which we as a world have seen, especially in far east ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Growth of TNCs is down to geographical flexibility and being able to shift resources and production between locations on a global scale in order to maximise profit margins. For example, Coca Cola Hellenic is leaving Greece; this is so that they don t lose any more money than they already have done. Athens stock exchange is a lot smaller than it used to be, which has meant the general economic sickness in the country depresses prices of all companies there. So, the company is to move its domicile from Greece to Switzerland and the stock listing from Athens to London. This example perfectly summarises how and why TNCs pack up in certain countries and go on to the next to make profit, which is what all multinational companies are out to do, make a buck. The growth in TNCs is also the idea of shifting to a more flexible production system, like JIT production, which stands for Just In Time. This type of production is exactly what it says on the tin, an order is placed with the company and only then do they start making the product, this saves time, space and money, as products are not left in warehouses until an order is placed. This allows for products to be made quickly and efficiently. In addition, TNCs can take advantage of the advances in technology; communication and transport meaning the process can be dealt with more quickly, easily and cheaply. Plus, many TNCs have adapted their production process and have broken in down, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1991, Sweden banned all the advertisements in children prime hours after research established that children below the age of nine were incapable of differentiating commercial ads and programs and could not comprehend the purpose of marketing until the age of 12 years. Research from American Psychological Association (APA) indicates that children under the age of eight cannot comprehend televised advertised messages and readily accept the advertiser s message as truthful and accurate. This leads to unhealthy feeding habits as proved by the increased cases of obesity. This paper will critically analyze the current marketing situation and its impact on the children. What is known The order and stability of the society are cognizant to a consensus on the values, norms and the interconnected parts of the community (Tepperman Curtis, 2013). The maintenance of the society is dependent on the different parts fulfilling their functions which are evident in the analogy of society and biological organisms. The body is made up of many organs which must work together for the living organism to survive (Tepperman Curtis, 2013). Similarly, social institutions must work together for the survival of the society. This is also true for the choices made by the casts of both Antigone and the adjustment bureau, in which a compound of factors all results in choices for characters, though the factors are drastically different. In Antigone, it s a series of individual past events that convinces a character to make a decision. These decisions then themselves acts as contributing factors to a different characters decisions. For example, during the falling action of the play, Creon says, Now I am on my way! Come, each of you, take up axes, make for the high ground, over there, quickly! It s best to keep the established laws to the very day we die. In this quote, Creon decides to go back on his will, which is already rare for such a stubborn character, but he also does this in order to save who he considers an enemy to his states, even seeming to repentant of it. However, this is not random. In fact, it was actually caused by three main factors: the prophesies of Tiresias revealing that he and his city and family will suffer if he continues on his immoral path, the consul of the leader, a sort of mentor character, to give in to his advice and unbury her, and the popular support of Antigone over Creon. Thus, it was these three factors that were more or less independent of each other that weighed on Creon, and this caused him to make his choice. By contrast of this, The Adjustment Bureau holds every decision as a calculated part of a plan, and is carefully plotted out to it occur by fate, with the intention that each factor to a choice is simply to coerce a decision out of a ... Nothing gave Dominicans more pride than to see Sosa hold Major League Baseball s homerun record, albeit for less than 24 hours before McGuire reclaimed U.S. dominance in America s favorite pastime. Artists trained during the trujillato, including king of merengue Johnny Ventura, summarily dropped the overt propaganda, but they emerged from the Trujillo era with a heightened awareness of the power of their craft. Johnny Ventura would later become an active political figure, and in 1998, win the mayoral election of Santo Domingo, the capital and largest city of the Dominican Republic. New firms attract resources to new activities, and when they prosper and are able to grow rapidly, they generate significant numbers of new jobs. Empirical work at the OECD indicates that entry of new firms in most countries is similar to exit of existing firms, and perhaps surprisingly, there do not appear to be great differences in entry and exit rates across countries. • 19. Religious Symbols And Symbolism Of The Visit, A Book, Like... Throughout history, one of the most prominent facets of any society is religion. It influences every aspect of civilization, from culture to government and from social rules to music. Literature, too, cannot escape the grasp religion holds on society. Works like Paradise Lost and The Divine Comedy show the awesome power religion inspires within people; contrastively, works like Huckleberry Finn and The Visit show the rampant cynicism religion inspires within people. Written by Swiss author Friedrich Dürrenmatt, The Visit is filled with religious symbols and references to Christianity. Instead of honoring the religion, though, the references only ridicules it. Half a century prior, Ill [denies] paternity of his illegitimate child with Claire, bringing along two witnesses whom he has bribed in order to escape his sentence (32), sentencing Claire to a life of prostitution. The contradiction between Ill s connection to Christ and life of sin mocks what Christ is. If Ill can still function as a Christ figure while having committed major sins, then Christ could have done the same. Dürrenmatt is arguing that the church itself is not free of sin, as much as they would like to appear to be. Connections and contradictions between Ill and Christ satirize Christ and mock the church. In continuance of this biblical metaphor, the town serves as the Judas to Ill s Christ, but their moral absolvement for killing Ill implies moral absolvement for Judas, which deconstructs the entire story of Christ. Like Judas to Christ, the town sells Ill out for the prospect of money. Once Claire places the one billion dollar price on Ill s head, it s already decided that the townspeople are going to kill him; the temptation is far too strong and [their] poverty is too wretched (85). They have no choice other than to choose the money over him, which they do. Much to my dismay the story has no money in it and no one learns any lessons. In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery a small town holds a lottery to see who will be stoned to death by the whole town showing the reader how twisted the author is but also slightly showing the reality that in some places in the world such things to do happen and it is crazy to think it is considered normal by some. For instance, if this story were to be read to those select individuals in the world that still sacrifice people for good crops and such things then they would probably think of this story as dull and uninteresting because nothing is out of the ordinary to them. These sacrificial beliefs are of course only a part of a few societies of the many all over the world. • 21. Power Dynamic Between A Years Old And A Bengal Tiger The Power Dynamic between a Sixteen Year Old and a Bengal Tiger Who has the power? A sixteen year old or a Bengal tiger? Power is typically concerned with who or what has control over someone or something else, so the question almost seems silly, because what could a young teenage boy have over a carnivorous, wild animal? Although it may seem obvious that the wild animal would have control over the boy, the answer is not as definite in the Life of Pi by Yann Martel. In the novel, the tiger, Richard Parker, and the teenage boy, Pi Patel share power. In other words, the two characters share power because of the unusual dynamic of equals between them. It conferred power upon me (Martel 248). To further support Pi s claim, Pi even provides evidence for why Richard Parker s reliance on him gave him power: Proof: I remained alive day after day, week after week. Proof: he did not attack me, even when I was asleep on the tarpaulin. Proof: I am here to tell you this story (Martel 248). If Pi Patel had not been on that lifeboat with Richard Parker, the chances of survival of the tiger would have been slim. Richard Parker would have eventually died of starvation or dehydration if Pi had not been there taking care of him. Thus, Richard Parker s reliance on Pi gave Pi power over Richard Parker. The way in which Pi assumed this power over Richard Parker was by establishing himself as an equal to him. As Pi brought food to the tiger, Pi would use whistles to remind Richard Parker of who provided him with food and water: ...not forgetting to blow the whistle hard several times, to remind Richard Parker of who had so graciously provided him with fresh food (Martel 206). The California Department of Education and the California State Board of Education are pleased to present the California Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, Grades Seven through Twelve. The California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards, Grades Seven Through Twelve, adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE) in 2005, was designed to help achieve that goal by providing educators with rigorous, balanced standards reflecting both the essential knowledge needed to achieve a seamless transition to careers or postsecondary education or training and the specific skills required for each of the state s 58 career pathways. This publication, the Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, is the blueprint for educators to use in implementing the career technical education (CTE) model curriculum standards adopted by the SBE. It provides a context for the content laid out by the standards, discusses best practices, and explores important issues in the implementation of those standards. On one side the death penalty could potentially make citizens feel more safe, and on the other hand people can argue that us as mere humans do not have the authority to play God. I believe the death penalty should be abolished for a variety of reasons; our government is a broken system, a proposed law would not end all murders, and we, as humans, should not have the authority to determine whether someone lives or dies. • 24. The Effect Of The Judgemental Nature Of Puritans In... Junior Research Paper Society is made of many different types of people. Some people commit their lives to the church, others commit their lives to helping others. No matter how different and noble members of society may appear, they all have something in common: sin. Members of Puritan society all have this in common, and therefore should be less critical of each other. The effect of the judgemental nature of Puritans in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is demonstrated by recurring dark and light themes, representing restriction and freedom from judgement. Hawthorne s use of the archetypal symbols of darkness and light suggests his view that the Puritan society was excessively judgemental of their members and that all societies should be less critical. Hawthorne uses the symbol of darkness to communicate his view of Puritan society and judgement. Hawthorne applies darkness to the conventional Puritan citizens and to those who do not follow the societal rules to show the effect that Puritan judgement has. Darkness archetypally represents evil, and when parallelled with light in The Scarlet Letter also symbolizes restriction. The Puritan society has in place many restrictions, one of which being strictly against adultery. These restrictions are enforced by characters such as the town beadle, or officer. When Hester, the protagonist guilty of adultery is freed from jail, a figure appears with her like a black shadow emerging into sunshine, the grim and grisly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Modern Technology And Its Impact On Modern Society Essay Modern technology has undoubtedly had a profound impact on contemporary society. However, critics of modern technology emphasize that modern technology has had deleterious effects on young Americans. In The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future: Or, Don t Trust Anyone under 30, Mark Bauerlein attempts to argue that the young Americans of contemporary society are increasingly unintelligent as a result of modern technology, but fails to elaborate on his criteria for evaluating intelligence. Bauerlein engages in fallacious rhetoric while presenting his argument that today s young Americans are part of the dumbest generation because he fails to acknowledge the beneficial impacts that modern technology has had on Americans. His overall argument is diminished by his usage of logical fallacies, while arguments that do not rely on logical fallacies and rather focus on deliberate rhetorical appeals are more cogent. Bauerlein s failure to contribute relevant evidence and his excessive use of logical fallacies ultimately hinders his argument that modern technology has led to the decline in youth intelligence, which is what makes counter arguments presented by other authors, such as Clay Shirky and Donald Norman s, much more convincing. In his book The Dumbest Generation, Emory Professor Mark Bauerlein emphasizes his belief that most young Americans avoid learning due to their pre occupation with modern technology. He ...
