Reality Of Presidential Election Essay
Reality of presidential candidates Connor Brown With the looming election drawing ever closer the
parade of losers (candidates) has come down to the final two. Only one can become President and
only one can keep the title of presidential candidate. Over the past year the country has seen over 20
different people attempt to become the leader of the free world; and they are all the same. At the very
least they are similar, and by default very easy to categorize. 1. Who is this guy? This is the candidate
no one knows. This is the Lincoln Chaffey, Martin O Malley, and George Pataki (google him). Lincoln
Chaffey who said America needed to get on the Metric system. Martin O Malley, a Democrat who
made sense and said good things, but no one had ever heard of him. George Pataki was a Republican,
there is not really much to say on him. He ran, he dropped out, no one had ... Show more content on

Oh, that guy? Really? Now this candidate is fun because they were known for something they had
done earlier and then return to the public eye to try and lead the country. This includes Marco Rubio
and Ben Carson. Marco Rubio in 2013 gave the Republican response to the State of the Union
address. Whether he did well in that speech was not important. The important thing was that randomly
during the speech he leaned over and took a drink of water. This speech was joke fodder for weeks
following the speech. What no one expected was for Marco Rubio to return 2 years later and run a
respectable presidential campaign. Ben Carson was famous for being the first Neuro surgeon to
successfully separate conjoined twins; and in 2015 he ran for president. He did well in the pools for a
couple weeks, but after the Oregon Shooting he said what the victims should have done (not the most
sensitive thing to do after a mass shooting) causing a dive in his polls. After dropping out of the race
Ben Carson endorsed Donald Trump and proves to still be a strong supporter on the campaign

Analysis Of The Poem I Buffalo Bill s Essay
With the three poems next to of course god america i , the Cambridge ladies who live in furnished
souls , and [Buffalo Bill s] e e cummings paints a very grim picture of American ideals and shows his
disdain for much of the cultural identity that Americans share. In the poems next to of course god
america i and the Cambridge ladies who live in furnished souls he lampoons politicians and a certain
class of women. In [Buffalo Bill s] he declares a cultural icon to be defunct and within the other two
poems he calls out many other American institutions including rabid nationalism, the protestant
church, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. On top of everything that e e cummings sees as wrong
with America, he also characterizes the average American as extremely gullible and easily fooled by
exalted members of society as seen in next to of course god america i , the Cambridge ladies who live
in furnished souls , and to a lesser extent in [Buffalo Bill s] . The poem next to of course god america i
is a parody of a speech one would expect to hear coming from a politician, except in this speech the
politician comes off as incomprehensible and comically patriotic. The way that the speech consists
almost entirely of allusions to national anthems and other platitudes in an attempt to win the favor of
the common man is a harsh critique on the state of American politics as well as on the average voter.
Similar to this, the women in the Cambridge ladies who live in furnished

The Paleo-Indians And The English Colonization Of North...
The initial inhabitants of North and South America, known as Paleo Indians, arrived here over
thousands of years ago. It is believed that the Native American forefathers reached this country via a
piece of land that linked Asia to North America. Upon arrival, the Paleo Indians split into numerous
tribes. They broke off into a number of tribes, including but not limited to, the Paiutes, the Shoshonis,
the Algonquians, the Aztecs, and the Mayans. The Paiutes and the Shoshonis tended to migrate
seasonally. They are both tribes that settled in Nevada and Utah. The Algonquian tribe inhabited
present day northeastern United States and eastern Canada. They preferred to remain in their
territories, they rarely migrated. The Aztecs, a bellicose nation, colonized what is now Mexico and
Guatemala. The Aztecs had gained power over central Mexico before the Spanish accessed the new
world. The Mayans also settled in Mexico and Guatemala. They were a very intelligent nation that
already had writing and mathematics systems in place by the time the Spanish arrived. The various
indigenous tribes then settled in a variety of places across the Americas and formed their own
religious and cultural practices.
The English Reformation was a phenomenon that took place in the 16th century. Puritans living in

Patient Confidentiality
What is confidentiality? Confidentiality is the right of an individual to have personal, identifiable
medical information kept private. It is ones private information that comes to the knowledge of a
person, in circumstances where an individual has been given notice, or is held to have agreed, that the
information is not to be disclosed. A non disclosure agreement is a standard written agreement that is
used when two or more companies work together. Anyone that have access to private information is
often required to sign a confidentiality agreement and it is often a clear indication that the information
is sensitive and non sharable. Non disclosure agreements are used in almost all professions, as people
rely more and more on confidential communications. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is when a patient s private information is disclosed to a third party. Breaches in patient
confidentiality can have long term adverse effects, even when no lawsuit is filed. Patients are at risk of
having their private information shared or the practice s reputation can be permanently damaged. The
HIPAA Privacy Rule can also come into play. HIPAA is the federal Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act of 1996. The main goal of this law is to make it easier for people to keep health
insurance, protect the confidentiality and security of healthcare information and help the healthcare
industry control administrative costs. In doing so providers are rules that they are required to follow.
They must develop and implement a privacy policy. Train all employees to ensure their understanding
of and full participation with the privacy policies and procedures, and to also designate a person to see
that the practice s privacy policies are in affect and followed and ensure that patient records are secure
and accessible only to those who need them. A HIPAA violation can result in both civil and criminal
penalties and monetary civil penalties of $100 per violation can be incurred up to $25,000/person/year.
Anyone who knows and obtain or discloses private information in violation of HIPAA can be fined up

A Textual Analysis Of Amy Winehouse
The award winning documentary Amy was directed by Asif Kapadia and was made in 2015. Kapadia
is known for his visually striking films exploring characters living in timeless, extreme and
unforgiving landscapes. ( Asif Kapadia Biography. IMDb. February 26, 2016 .). In this film, Kapadia
depicts the life, fame, and the tragic death of Amy Winehouse. Winehouse was a British singer who
only creating two albums, became one of the biggest music icons in British and jazz history. With a
voice oft described as a combination of Billy Holiday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan, Amy
Winehouse was a pop star with soul; a once in two generational musical talent whose appeal crossed
cultural and demographic boundaries. ( Amy (2015). Rottentomatoes.com. ... Show more content on

Pathos refers to the emotional appeal of a text or film. In this documentary, I believe that the director s
use of pathos is a powerful aspect because he uses this device to appeal to the emotions of he audience
so that they have sympathy toward Amy. In the very beginning of the film, Kapadia shows a home
movie of Amy singing happy birthday to one of her close friends who was interviewed later in the
film. This scene is important in the symbol of music and the transition into the story of Amy s rise to
success because this scene sets the stage for Amy s career and start to becoming a Grammy winning
jazz singer. I also found this scene to important because this scene depicts the time in Amy s life when
she found music to be happy and enjoyable before entering her career. The rhetorical device of pathos
as a mean to describe the symbol of music can be seen later in the beginning of the documentary. The
director shows scenes of Amy when she was first starting out in the music industry. In one of these
scenes, the director uses a voiceover of Amy when she describes the moment in her life when her
father left her mother. Amy states when my dad left my mom, I felt that I can get way with anything; I
can do what I want, I can wear whatever I want, I can swear, I can smoke, and I can skip school and
be with my boyfriend in the house all day, my mother would walk into the house and see me with my
boyfriend and she would not care. Her friends and family then told the audience that Amy was
diagnosed with depression and was given antidepressants. Amy then said that I used music as an outlet
not many people who have depression can say that they have an outlet but when I feel depressed, I can
go to the studio, write a song, and sing and I would feel better. This scene is important to the
documentary overall and the symbol of music because this scene

The Four Families of the Filovirus Ebola
The filovirus Ebola consists of 4 families: Marburg, Ebola Zaire, Ebola Sudan, and Ebola Reston. It is
a rather simple virus in structure; each contain a single strand RNA strand and 7 different proteins, 3
which are only slightly understood and 4 that are completely unknown. The virus harms the immune
system like the HIV virus, but Ebola causes an explosive attack. The virus is associated with the
measles and mumps family, pneumonia viruses, parainfluenza viruses which include colds, and
respiratory system related viruses. Unlike common viruses which are ball shaped, Ebola s shape
represents that similar to a shepherd s crook, a long snake like thread that looks like a worm. Because
the Ebola virus has a distinct structure, it has been classified as a thread virus in its own family of
viruses, the filoviruses.

She originated from an African organism but received a German name. First identified in an old city of
central Germany in 1967, Marburg devastated the town, killing 1 out of 4 victims and causing effects
that resembled rabies. Scientists analyzed the virus structure and found strands and strands of tangled
rope, some wrapped in looks similar to donuts. In this way, for some time, Marburg was called
stretched rabies, its worm like shapes stretched out unlike the rabies virus which is bullet shaped.
Effects

Jacques Louis David: Gouvernement Anglois (The English Government)
Introduction: As one can expect from the very nature of political and social revolutions, there were
some very unhappy people during the French revolution. The question here is why the French citizens
of this time so upset were and was their discontent so great that a revolution could be justified?
Furthermore, who and what will be the ultimate vehicle to bring the necessary political, social and
economic dreams to realization? The French Revolution in began in 1789 and ended in 1799, this was
a time in which democrats and republicans overthrew the absolute monarchy and the Roman Catholic

The king s face is vomiting flames and smoke directly through the center of the image at a frightened
group people attempting to escape the flames that distinctly separate the two parties. The painting is
symbolic of the way in which the English Government was separating itself from its people through
its monopolization of commerce at that time (Johnson, 1993). The smoke and fire coming from the
back of the demon is symbolic of the taxes in which the government uses to ensure this monopoly.
There is also a caption at the bottom of the page which describes the scenario. According to the print s
caption the English government is personified by the figure of a Devil skinned alive. Obviously, this
image can not be taken literally, but its allegorical suggestion held great significance to the times. The
explicit nature of this image does not leave much room for imagination. Had his past works not been
so technically flawless some viewers could mistake the crudeness of this piece as a result of David s
artistic and intellectual inadequacy, this could not be farther from the truth, in fact, many believe
David did this on purpose. Purpose: Although it certainly angered many of those who benefit from
unjust taxation, this piece was not created to serve the English Government and those alike, but it was
created to serve those who are being unfairly persecuted by any absolute government, for example: the
bourgeoisie during

Compare And Contrast Christina s World By Andrew Wyeth
In Christina s World, a painting made in 1948 by Andrew Wyeth, I see a woman sitting on a grassy
field. The woman in the foreground is looking out towards the background to a brown house. In front
of the house, there is a shed and what appears to be a wire fence. There are two narrow tire tracks
leading to the house. Further off in the distance, there is another house.
The majority of the painting is the previously mentioned grassy field. The sky is free of clouds.
The woman sitting on the grass is wearing a dress and her hair is tied in a bun, a few strands blowing
off in what can be assumed is a light breeze.
Christina s World is a two dimensional representational painting on canvas. The artist uses the
elements of color, space, motion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The strokes that make up the grass all have a slight sway that point towards the house, as well as
strands of the woman s hair. The slight breeze can mean something calling the artist back to where
they wish to be, a calmer place with a simpler life.
I believe this because this is the mood that looking at Christina s World puts me in. The simpler life
that the artist might be wishing for might not be a literal countryside, but simply the idea of something
simple. The idea of wanting a less complicated or more relaxed way of life can be what the farm and
grassy fields are portraying. To me, someone who has always been in the busy urban areas, only
having visited suburban and country areas, this painting makes me feel something in the sense of
longing. I ve never seen myself as a person fitting in with the hustle and bustle of urban life. After
staying in a more suburban to country ish style of living for a month, I feel that s where I really want
to be. The motion of the woman crawling to the little house on the prairie in the middle of nowhere
gives me a feeling a longing from the artist to be somewhere where all that hustle and bustle of urban
life can t reach

The Authoritarian Style Of Parenting Essay
Introduction In the early 1960s, psychologist Diana Baumrid conducted a research, analyzing child
parent behavior, seeking to identify parenting styles. The Baumrid study and other further studies
identified four main styles of parenting (Miller, 2010): the authoritative parenting style was
characterized by fair rules and consequences; The Authoritarian parenting style was characterized by
strict rules and harsh punishment; the permissive parenting style was characterized by minimal rules
with little or no consequences; the uninvolved parenting style was characterized by no rules, and
parent presence was almost non existent. In this paper, I m going to look at the authoritarian style of
parenting in an attempt to draw out its characteristics and its immediate and later impacts on children
impact. The Authoritarian parenting Style The primary focal point of the authoritarian style is on
respect rather than parent child relationships. Authoritarian parents are known for being strict. They
lay out rules and expect their children to follow them without question, even if the child has a valid
reason for questioning a decision. They establish many rules for the household and leave little or no
room for negotiation on policies. Authoritarian parents also fail to explain why the rules exist because
they believe that, as the parent, they are the authority on all decisions and shouldn t be questioned.
Penalty is an important element to authoritarian parents. Discipline is not gentle

The Effects Of Blood Doping On Professional Sports
The phenomenon of the blood doping in professional sports is not new; however, it remains prevalent
in sports culture. With new techniques being designed to avoid detection, it could be argued that the
prohibition of sports enhancing drugs in the professional sports mirror the prohibition of alcohol,
making for unsafe, unsanitary and black market drug erupt. Instead of prohibition, could the
professional sports community limitations in order to better allocate their money? There are great
incentives to use blood doping techniques with little by way of repercussions. Blood doping is a
process intended to boost athlete s performance by increasing the body s ability to filter more oxygen
to the muscles. This is done by increasing the hemoglobin which is the body s transportation of
oxygen to red blood cells (Webmd). The higher the hemoglobin contents in the blood the higher the
oxygen amount being transported to the muscle for the purposes recovery. Most common activities
blood doping is found in includes long distance activities such as marathon running and cycling, as
blood doing is thought to improve stamina (Webmd). There are multiple types of blood doping such
as; blood transfusions, erythropoietin injections (EPO) and synthetic oxygen carriers. There are two
forms of blood transfusions. The first type is Autologous Transfusions, which is the process of
removing one s own blood and storing it for future use. Whereas the other, Homologous transfusions

Software Testing
Software Testing
Carnegie Mellon University

Authors: Jiantao Pan mailto:%20jpan@cmu.edu Abstract:
Software testing is any activity aimed at evaluating an attribute or capability of a program or system
and determining that it meets its required results. [Hetzel88] Although crucial to software quality and
widely deployed by programmers and testers, software testing still remains an art, due to limited
understanding of the principles of software. The difficulty in software testing stems from the
complexity of software: we can not completely test a program with moderate complexity. Testing is
more than just debugging. The purpose of testing can be quality assurance, verification and ... Show

But this alone will not guarantee to make the software better, because the Complexity Barrier
[Beizer90] principle states: Software complexity(and therefore that of bugs) grows to the limits of our
ability to manage that complexity. By eliminating the (previous) easy bugs you allowed another
escalation of features and complexity, but his time you have subtler bugs to face, just to retain the
reliability you had before. Society seems to be unwilling to limit complexity because we all want that
extra bell, whistle, and feature interaction. Thus, our users always push us to the complexity barrier
and how close we can approach that barrier is largely determined by the strength of the techniques we
can wield against ever more complex and subtle bugs. [Beizer90]
Regardless of the limitations, testing is an integral part in software development. It is broadly
deployed in every phase in the software development cycle. Typically, more than 50% percent of the
development time is spent in testing. Testing is usually performed for the following purposes: * To
improve quality.
As computers and software are used in critical applications, the outcome of a bug can be severe. Bugs
can cause huge losses. Bugs in critical systems have caused airplane crashes, allowed space shuttle
missions to go awry, halted trading on the stock market, and worse. Bugs can kill. Bugs can

On Tuesday September 12, 2017, I was getting ready to go out and pay my bills. I went out the door

Our Dependence On The Electronic Tools
The way in which we store, process, and retrieve information, in other words, our schemas, has been
altered by the use of the web. Our dependence on the electronic tools we interact with on a daily basis
may have altered how we communicate what we have learned to others. The traditional manner of
structuring argument may have been replaced by a more diffuse manner that parallels the format of
web content (Rusciano Xia, 2013). Our knowledge structure has moved from print based to web based
(Rusciano Xia, 2013) and our use of the web has moved the way our knowledge is organized and
shared (Rusciano Xia, 2013). The traditional form of knowledge is in an indexical linear structure,
which ...has formed the basis for the creation of writing, and reached maturity in the linear visual
space of the printing press; it remains the core of contemporary knowledge dissemination and
acquisition (Rusciano Xia, 2013). The web, however, works in an entirely different manner. ...this
structure through the web centers on the concept of an associative system of organizing and presenting
information that is nonsequential and open ended (Rusciano Xia, 2013). While the Internet is still a
fairly new invention, it is not an entirely new concept. Vannevar Bush had a big vision in 1945 of what
the power of machines could do for organizing and retrieving information. He dreamt up a device,
which he called the memex machine. Bush s imaginative machine allows for the entire body of human

Against The Tide Summary
After reading the book Against The Tide by Cornelia Dean I think that the national policy for
governing developing coastlines should be dependent on an areas geologic features. In order to do
this, government officials would have to evaluate and create detailed reports to battle erosion in
specific areas rather than simply proposing a project that worked in a different place. In terms of
development, I think that if a project is going to be undertaken over a large area coastal geologists and
engineers should make small scale models of the region containing the planned infrastructure. After a
few years, the isolated small scale should be observed for long term effects so that they are known
before construction begins. Additionally, if the

The Importance Of Proper Representation Of Data
Abstract This paper discusses the importance of proper representation of data that is mined from social
media. The need for data mining and its various advantages are also discussed. The standard tasks
involved in data mining are explained. The discussion illuminates the various techniques that can be
used for representing the data (Textual representation, Tables, Graphs, Infographic). Draws attention
to the useful applications of data mining in varying degrees and illustrates the benefit of this powerful
technology. Suggests use of data visualization tools like Tableau, Qlikview to evaluate, analyze and
identify important parameters to gain deeper insights from the plethora of data mined from social
media.
Introduction
The widespread use of social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn have
been generating large amounts of data which are interchangeably known as social data. This data is
usually user generated, inconsistent, and incomplete and have geo information. This data can be used
by researchers or companies to extract meaningful information about human behavior, product
consumption, trends in markets, etc. Extraction and study of this data for useful purposes is called data
mining of social media. Since the number of techniques used to mine data are increasing rapidly with
time, it has become imperative to represent the data in a form which can be easily understood. Data
mining may consist of the following stages. First, data is extracted,

The state is central in American history not only because of its location on the East Coast, but also for
the long duration of time that Europeans have inhabited Pennsylvania. Always central to early
American history, Pennsylvania was of the first American colonies, birthed many of the founding

and sense of ownership. In fact, it was the latter that sparked multiple problems between the
colonizers and the native population. Though the European settlers would try to obtain land through
trade, the concept would be completely lost to the Native Americans, who had no sense of ownership.
Because of these differences in cultures, the groups soon clashed resulting in sorrow on both sides.
Primary Source Three is a letter by William Penn to the Native Americans who inhabit Pennsylvania.
The letter starts with the words My Friends, implying the friendly tone of the message and his desire
to coexist with the Native American population (Trent). In the first part of the letter, Penn thanks God
and credits God for his ability to come to America. This reaffirms the strong Quaker beliefs and their
thorough connotations throughout Pennsylvanian history. Penn then

Pop Goes The Weasel
(A) Reading through Ong s work, I was surprised at the way that literacy restructures our
understanding of memory and knowledge, but I recognize the lack of importance of memory even in
my own schooling and day to day activities. Even thinking of a mnemonic device for this exercise,
though several came to mind, was challenging. The few that were taught in school were the first that
come to mind, but these mnemonic devices would only make sense in a literate society. For instance,
the ROY G BIV mnemonic for the colors of the rainbow, as well as a song set to the tune of Pop goes
the Weasel to remember the quadratic equation, center around letters and names that only make sense
when put in the context of a written world. I wanted to think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Though in some cases, like Ong referenced, literate people memorize and recite words in order to
accomplish something or perhaps infuse the phrase with power, like in the case of speeches, liturgies,
etc., it seems as if in literate cultures, the repetition that comes with memorization almost cheapens the
importance of the words that are meant to spoken with power. Ong referenced spiritual words in
particular, referencing the ways that liturgies are read aloud and sometimes scriptures/prayers are
spoken aloud in order to show the sacred, communal nature of the text, for instance in the case of The
Lord s Prayer. But, from my experience, the phrases do not carry the power. Instead, the power is only
in the attitude when speaking/reading through these phrases. The actual words seem to take a
backseat, behind the person speaking

My First Day at College and the Friends I met Essay
My first day at college had a great meaning to me. It was the beginning of my dream to go to college
and to pursue a higher education.I had so many emotions running trough me , it was the first time
being in this level and the first time paying for education myself. I always wanted to be a college
student, a serious student who would decide what to be in her life. The first day at Truman College
was on August 25th, 2005. The first year of my freshman year and Fall semester. That day I had so
many things on my mind, from what I was going to wear to figure out where the class number and the
floor it would be located at. It was actually a day full of new experiences. I had just turned 28 years

I never took a class like this before, and it was a totally different system than a traditional class that I
used to attend. I considered that would help me later in the future with other classes. Thus, I loved the
idea of taking an English class in this kind of environment, moreover, I was proud to be part of it. In
addition, I thought it was a good idea to use laptops in class since I owed one at home, and I was able
to relate with the purpose of the class. For instance, I could enter an electronic group forum from
home, so we were able to share ideas an opinions without being in the classroom. Also, I found very
handy to be able to send my homework electronically to my teacher.
On the other hand, one of the greatest experiences I had in the first day was, not only being in a
interesting English class, but being part of a diverse and cultural international class. Well, I call it this
way because to me, it was the first impression. Although, I always wanted to study abroad and to be
an international student , English 100, gave me the opportunity to meet and share experiences with
people from other nationalities. Although most of my classmates did not speak Spanish, which is my
native language, I was able to communicate in English with them. Moreover, I was interested in
learning another language; thus, I met a girl from

Hearing Screening
Prior research has indicated that screening children for hearing loss as young as possible is imperative,
so that children with a hearing loss can receive treatment or an amplification device. Failure to
identify and manage hearing loss in adolescents can lead to impaired speech and language
development, poor social skills, and educational delays. Children in developing countries typically do
not receive newborn hearing screenings and they may not receive hearing screenings in school. Cost,
accuracy, accessibility, and trained personal are four of the major issues concerning the absence of
hearing screenings in developing countries. It was postulated that computer based audiometer software
was a low cost, accessible option for developing countries that could be easily operated by less
formally trained individuals.

Emirau Island, off Papua New Guinea, seems an unlikely place to find Earhart because it s far from
the spot where her last radio transmissions occurred. Still, a U.S. Navy crew member in World War II
told of being sent to the island and spotting a photo of Earhart tacked up in the hut of a local man. The
photo showed Earhart standing with a Japanese military officer, a missionary and a young boy. The
sailor alerted naval intelligence officers, who allegedly took the photo from the hut against the owner s
wishes. The photo has never been found. Since Emirau Island had been a haven for Europeans
stranded after a shipwreck in 1940, it s likely the photo contained a lookalike and not the real Amelia

401 Games As A Successful Business
401 Games has a wide variety of customers due to extensive amount of diverse games that are offered
in their store. When analyzing 401 Games as a whole, we decided on two determining variables and
one qualifying variable for the best target market. We chose buying behavior and loyalty status as our
two determining variables. For our qualifying variable, we selected location. We broke buying
behavior down into two categories, entertainment and competition. The entertainment segment
includes board games and card games. This would target both married couples and families with
children looking for fun, at home entertainment. The competition segment would include individuals
who compete in different gaming tournaments like Magic. 401 Games ... Show more content on

401 Games has very competitive prices for games compared to other retailers, which helps customer s
loyalty. Another big aspect of loyalty is word of mouth to recruit new customers, which 401 Games
has currently. A loyal customer, not only comes back and continues to buy from the store, but is more
likely to tell their friends too, thus keeping the business thriving. Next, we selected entertainment over
competition for buying behavior. Although 401 Games sells magic and items for gaming competition,
the best selling items are for entertainment. According to Exhibit 1: Breakdown of Sales by Product
Category, 401 Games top sellers include board games with 30% of total sales and card game sets with
a total of 20% of sales, which are both in the entertainment category. They together make up $300,000
worth of revenue. Adults, couples, or families with children will be the ones purchasing good board
games or card games to play on game night for entertainment, especially families with children
because it is cheap family fun. Lastly, we picked individuals who prefer in store shopping over online.
At 401 Games, we hire individuals and train them to be the experts on all games. We want customers
to come in and look at different games. Customers can ask our employees if they have questions,
which is a benefit that is not online. Customers also have the ability to come in

Sociology of Tourism
Introduction
We have to understand the several concepts by means of definition and its integration.
Tourism Hunziker and Krapf, in 1941, defined tourism as the sum of the phenomena and relationships
arising from the travel and stay of non residents, insofar as they do not lead to permanent residence
and are not connected with any earning activity. In 1976, the Tourism Society of England s definition
was: Tourism is the temporary, short term movement of people to destination outside the places where
they normally live and work and their activities during the stay at each destination. It includes
movements for all purposes. In 1981, the International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism

Diffusion and Osmosis Shown In Solutions
Section 1: Abstract
This lab, title Diffusion and Osmosis, was centered around the diffusion across a cellular membrane
and how exactly materials move and diffuse in concentrations. Both diffusion and osmosis are forms
of movement that are part of passive transport dealing with cell membranes. Diffusion is where the
solutes move from an area of high concentration to a low concentration. Water goes through the cell
membranes by diffusion. Osmosis is specifically the movement of water through membranes. Since
osmosis and diffusion are both part of passive transport, this means that they do not require energy or
pumps. There are different environments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I took the five dialysis tubings which were acting as cells and filled them with 10 mL of each solution.
We knotted each end but made sure to leave enough space at the top for water to diffuse in the cell.
The initial weight was taken and recorded in a data table. The five cells were placed in a beaker filled
with water for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes, the cells were weighed, and the final weight was
recorded in the data table, and then the percent change was calculated. The materials used in this
procedure were beakers, water, sucrose, glucose, NaCl, ovalbumin, 20 cm long dialysis tubing and
balances.
In the inquiry, I predicted that the blue solution was water and that it would have an isotonic
environment, meaning there would be no percent change.I first cut the potatoes into
6 cylinders of the same size by using a cork. I got six beakers and filled each with 20 mL of the
different color coated solutions with different concentrations (orange, red, yellow, green, blue purple).
The initial mass of each potato cylinder was taken before placing in the solution. I placed the potatoes
in the appropriate labeled beaker (1 6) of each solution and let them sit there for 30 minutes. After the
30 minutes, I took the final mass of each cylinder and calculated the percent change in mass. The
materials that were used in the inquiry were potatoes, corks, pipettes, balances, scalpels, beakers, and
the color coded sucrose solutions.

Compare and contrast Mr. Birling and Sheila Birling Essay
Compare and contrast the characters of Mr. Birling and Sheila Birling in their attitudes to social
issues. In the play An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestly, Mr. Birling and Sheila Birling have contrasting
attitudes to social issues. The author uses this difference to highlight the diversity between generations
and their reactions to situations faced. Arthur Birling is the father to Sheila Birling and so is presented
as the older, old fashioned generation whereas Shelia is the younger generation, who is more aware of
the responsibilities they have towards other people. (?) The play begins with Mr. Birling and his
family celebrating the engagement of Sheila to Gerald. The atmosphere is happy and light hearted.

Almost the first thing Mr. Birling says to the Inspector is said to make an impression. He says, I was
an alderman for years and Lord Mayor two years ago and I m still on the Bench so I know the
Brumley police officers pretty well... His tone of voice is boastful as if emphasising to the Inspector
how important he is. His first intention is to make a good impression, rather than finding out why the
Inspector has called. When he does ask why the Inspector has called, he becomes slightly impatient
when the Inspector doesn t fully answer his question. He clearly feels he is more important than the
Inspector. He then says, Look there s nothing mysterious or scandalous about this business at least not
so far as I m concerned. This sentence doesn t flow which emphasises Mr. Birling s impatience. It also
highlights Mr. Birling s selfishness and attitude towards other because he is only thinking of himself.
He is immediately dismissing responsibility and his irritation is only to cover up his worry and
embarrassment. Sheila s reaction to the Inspector is almost opposite to that of her father s reaction.
Sheila is not worried about making an impression and almost immediately asks, What s this all about?
When she hears about Eva Smith s fate, she reacts to it unlike her father who said, Yes, yes. Horrid
business , which yet again emphasises his impatience by the lack of reaction. Sheila asks the Inspector

  • 2. Reality Of Presidential Election Essay Reality of presidential candidates Connor Brown With the looming election drawing ever closer the parade of losers (candidates) has come down to the final two. Only one can become President and only one can keep the title of presidential candidate. Over the past year the country has seen over 20 different people attempt to become the leader of the free world; and they are all the same. At the very least they are similar, and by default very easy to categorize. 1. Who is this guy? This is the candidate no one knows. This is the Lincoln Chaffey, Martin O Malley, and George Pataki (google him). Lincoln Chaffey who said America needed to get on the Metric system. Martin O Malley, a Democrat who made sense and said good things, but no one had ever heard of him. George Pataki was a Republican, there is not really much to say on him. He ran, he dropped out, no one had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oh, that guy? Really? Now this candidate is fun because they were known for something they had done earlier and then return to the public eye to try and lead the country. This includes Marco Rubio and Ben Carson. Marco Rubio in 2013 gave the Republican response to the State of the Union address. Whether he did well in that speech was not important. The important thing was that randomly during the speech he leaned over and took a drink of water. This speech was joke fodder for weeks following the speech. What no one expected was for Marco Rubio to return 2 years later and run a respectable presidential campaign. Ben Carson was famous for being the first Neuro surgeon to successfully separate conjoined twins; and in 2015 he ran for president. He did well in the pools for a couple weeks, but after the Oregon Shooting he said what the victims should have done (not the most sensitive thing to do after a mass shooting) causing a dive in his polls. After dropping out of the race Ben Carson endorsed Donald Trump and proves to still be a strong supporter on the campaign ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Poem I Buffalo Bill s Essay With the three poems next to of course god america i , the Cambridge ladies who live in furnished souls , and [Buffalo Bill s] e e cummings paints a very grim picture of American ideals and shows his disdain for much of the cultural identity that Americans share. In the poems next to of course god america i and the Cambridge ladies who live in furnished souls he lampoons politicians and a certain class of women. In [Buffalo Bill s] he declares a cultural icon to be defunct and within the other two poems he calls out many other American institutions including rabid nationalism, the protestant church, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. On top of everything that e e cummings sees as wrong with America, he also characterizes the average American as extremely gullible and easily fooled by exalted members of society as seen in next to of course god america i , the Cambridge ladies who live in furnished souls , and to a lesser extent in [Buffalo Bill s] . The poem next to of course god america i is a parody of a speech one would expect to hear coming from a politician, except in this speech the politician comes off as incomprehensible and comically patriotic. The way that the speech consists almost entirely of allusions to national anthems and other platitudes in an attempt to win the favor of the common man is a harsh critique on the state of American politics as well as on the average voter. Similar to this, the women in the Cambridge ladies who live in furnished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Paleo-Indians And The English Colonization Of North... The initial inhabitants of North and South America, known as Paleo Indians, arrived here over thousands of years ago. It is believed that the Native American forefathers reached this country via a piece of land that linked Asia to North America. Upon arrival, the Paleo Indians split into numerous tribes. They broke off into a number of tribes, including but not limited to, the Paiutes, the Shoshonis, the Algonquians, the Aztecs, and the Mayans. The Paiutes and the Shoshonis tended to migrate seasonally. They are both tribes that settled in Nevada and Utah. The Algonquian tribe inhabited present day northeastern United States and eastern Canada. They preferred to remain in their territories, they rarely migrated. The Aztecs, a bellicose nation, colonized what is now Mexico and Guatemala. The Aztecs had gained power over central Mexico before the Spanish accessed the new world. The Mayans also settled in Mexico and Guatemala. They were a very intelligent nation that already had writing and mathematics systems in place by the time the Spanish arrived. The various indigenous tribes then settled in a variety of places across the Americas and formed their own religious and cultural practices. The English Reformation was a phenomenon that took place in the 16th century. Puritans living in England were facing religious persecution the state religion at the time was the Church of England. • 7. A Textual Analysis Of Amy Winehouse The award winning documentary Amy was directed by Asif Kapadia and was made in 2015. Kapadia is known for his visually striking films exploring characters living in timeless, extreme and unforgiving landscapes. ( Asif Kapadia Biography. IMDb. February 26, 2016 .). In this film, Kapadia depicts the life, fame, and the tragic death of Amy Winehouse. Winehouse was a British singer who only creating two albums, became one of the biggest music icons in British and jazz history. With a voice oft described as a combination of Billy Holiday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan, Amy Winehouse was a pop star with soul; a once in two generational musical talent whose appeal crossed cultural and demographic boundaries. ( Amy (2015). Rottentomatoes.com. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pathos refers to the emotional appeal of a text or film. In this documentary, I believe that the director s use of pathos is a powerful aspect because he uses this device to appeal to the emotions of he audience so that they have sympathy toward Amy. In the very beginning of the film, Kapadia shows a home movie of Amy singing happy birthday to one of her close friends who was interviewed later in the film. This scene is important in the symbol of music and the transition into the story of Amy s rise to success because this scene sets the stage for Amy s career and start to becoming a Grammy winning jazz singer. I also found this scene to important because this scene depicts the time in Amy s life when she found music to be happy and enjoyable before entering her career. The rhetorical device of pathos as a mean to describe the symbol of music can be seen later in the beginning of the documentary. The director shows scenes of Amy when she was first starting out in the music industry. In one of these scenes, the director uses a voiceover of Amy when she describes the moment in her life when her father left her mother. Amy states when my dad left my mom, I felt that I can get way with anything; I can do what I want, I can wear whatever I want, I can swear, I can smoke, and I can skip school and be with my boyfriend in the house all day, my mother would walk into the house and see me with my boyfriend and she would not care. Her friends and family then told the audience that Amy was diagnosed with depression and was given antidepressants. Amy then said that I used music as an outlet not many people who have depression can say that they have an outlet but when I feel depressed, I can go to the studio, write a song, and sing and I would feel better. • 8. The Four Families of the Filovirus Ebola The filovirus Ebola consists of 4 families: Marburg, Ebola Zaire, Ebola Sudan, and Ebola Reston. It is a rather simple virus in structure; each contain a single strand RNA strand and 7 different proteins, 3 which are only slightly understood and 4 that are completely unknown. The virus harms the immune system like the HIV virus, but Ebola causes an explosive attack. The virus is associated with the measles and mumps family, pneumonia viruses, parainfluenza viruses which include colds, and respiratory system related viruses. Unlike common viruses which are ball shaped, Ebola s shape represents that similar to a shepherd s crook, a long snake like thread that looks like a worm. Because the Ebola virus has a distinct structure, it has been classified as a thread virus in its own family of viruses, the filoviruses. Meet the sisters: Marburg (1st discovered) She originated from an African organism but received a German name. First identified in an old city of central Germany in 1967, Marburg devastated the town, killing 1 out of 4 victims and causing effects that resembled rabies. Scientists analyzed the virus structure and found strands and strands of tangled rope, some wrapped in looks similar to donuts. In this way, for some time, Marburg was called stretched rabies, its worm like shapes stretched out unlike the rabies virus which is bullet shaped. Effects Marburg attacks human tissue like nuclear radiation, damaging the nervous system and especially the brain. Victims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about Jacques-Louis David Michael Edelman HST 313 3/28/2005 Caricature Paper Jacques Louis David: Gouvernement Anglois (The English Government) Introduction: As one can expect from the very nature of political and social revolutions, there were some very unhappy people during the French revolution. The question here is why the French citizens of this time so upset were and was their discontent so great that a revolution could be justified? Furthermore, who and what will be the ultimate vehicle to bring the necessary political, social and economic dreams to realization? The king s face is vomiting flames and smoke directly through the center of the image at a frightened group people attempting to escape the flames that distinctly separate the two parties. The painting is symbolic of the way in which the English Government was separating itself from its people through its monopolization of commerce at that time (Johnson, 1993). The smoke and fire coming from the back of the demon is symbolic of the taxes in which the government uses to ensure this monopoly. There is also a caption at the bottom of the page which describes the scenario. According to the print s caption the English government is personified by the figure of a Devil skinned alive. Obviously, this image can not be taken literally, but its allegorical suggestion held great significance to the times. The explicit nature of this image does not leave much room for imagination. Had his past works not been so technically flawless some viewers could mistake the crudeness of this piece as a result of David s artistic and intellectual inadequacy, this could not be farther from the truth, in fact, many believe David did this on purpose. Purpose: Although it certainly angered many of those who benefit from unjust taxation, this piece was not created to serve the English Government and those alike, but it was created to serve those who are being unfairly persecuted by any absolute government, for example: the bourgeoisie during ... The woman in the foreground is looking out towards the background to a brown house. In front of the house, there is a shed and what appears to be a wire fence. There are two narrow tire tracks leading to the house. Further off in the distance, there is another house. The majority of the painting is the previously mentioned grassy field. The sky is free of clouds. The woman sitting on the grass is wearing a dress and her hair is tied in a bun, a few strands blowing off in what can be assumed is a light breeze. I believe this because this is the mood that looking at Christina s World puts me in. The simpler life that the artist might be wishing for might not be a literal countryside, but simply the idea of something simple. The idea of wanting a less complicated or more relaxed way of life can be what the farm and grassy fields are portraying. To me, someone who has always been in the busy urban areas, only having visited suburban and country areas, this painting makes me feel something in the sense of longing. I ve never seen myself as a person fitting in with the hustle and bustle of urban life. After staying in a more suburban to country ish style of living for a month, I feel that s where I really want to be. The Authoritarian Style Of Parenting Essay Introduction In the early 1960s, psychologist Diana Baumrid conducted a research, analyzing child parent behavior, seeking to identify parenting styles. The Baumrid study and other further studies identified four main styles of parenting (Miller, 2010): the authoritative parenting style was characterized by fair rules and consequences; The Authoritarian parenting style was characterized by strict rules and harsh punishment; the permissive parenting style was characterized by minimal rules with little or no consequences; the uninvolved parenting style was characterized by no rules, and parent presence was almost non existent. In this paper, I m going to look at the authoritarian style of parenting in an attempt to draw out its characteristics and its immediate and later impacts on children impact. The Authoritarian parenting Style The primary focal point of the authoritarian style is on respect rather than parent child relationships. Authoritarian parents are known for being strict. They lay out rules and expect their children to follow them without question, even if the child has a valid reason for questioning a decision. They establish many rules for the household and leave little or no room for negotiation on policies. Authoritarian parents also fail to explain why the rules exist because they believe that, as the parent, they are the authority on all decisions and shouldn t be questioned. Penalty is an important element to authoritarian parents. Discipline is not gentle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of prohibition, could the professional sports community limitations in order to better allocate their money? Blood doping is a process intended to boost athlete s performance by increasing the body s ability to filter more oxygen to the muscles. This is done by increasing the hemoglobin which is the body s transportation of oxygen to red blood cells (Webmd). The higher the hemoglobin contents in the blood the higher the oxygen amount being transported to the muscle for the purposes recovery. Most common activities blood doping is found in includes long distance activities such as marathon running and cycling, as blood doing is thought to improve stamina (Webmd). There are multiple types of blood doping such as; blood transfusions, erythropoietin injections (EPO) and synthetic oxygen carriers. There are two forms of blood transfusions. [Hetzel88] Although crucial to software quality and widely deployed by programmers and testers, software testing still remains an art, due to limited understanding of the principles of software. The difficulty in software testing stems from the complexity of software: we can not completely test a program with moderate complexity. Testing is more than just debugging. The purpose of testing can be quality assurance, verification and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But this alone will not guarantee to make the software better, because the Complexity Barrier [Beizer90] principle states: Software complexity(and therefore that of bugs) grows to the limits of our ability to manage that complexity. By eliminating the (previous) easy bugs you allowed another escalation of features and complexity, but his time you have subtler bugs to face, just to retain the reliability you had before. Society seems to be unwilling to limit complexity because we all want that extra bell, whistle, and feature interaction. Thus, our users always push us to the complexity barrier and how close we can approach that barrier is largely determined by the strength of the techniques we can wield against ever more complex and subtle bugs. [Beizer90] Regardless of the limitations, testing is an integral part in software development. It is broadly deployed in every phase in the software development cycle. Typically, more than 50% percent of the development time is spent in testing. Testing is usually performed for the following purposes: * To improve quality. As computers and software are used in critical applications, the outcome of a bug can be severe. Bugs can cause huge losses. Our dependence on the electronic tools we interact with on a daily basis may have altered how we communicate what we have learned to others. The traditional manner of structuring argument may have been replaced by a more diffuse manner that parallels the format of web content (Rusciano Xia, 2013). Our knowledge structure has moved from print based to web based (Rusciano Xia, 2013) and our use of the web has moved the way our knowledge is organized and shared (Rusciano Xia, 2013). This data is usually user generated, inconsistent, and incomplete and have geo information. This data can be used by researchers or companies to extract meaningful information about human behavior, product consumption, trends in markets, etc. Extraction and study of this data for useful purposes is called data mining of social media. Always central to early American history, Pennsylvania was of the first American colonies, birthed many of the founding fathers, and even housed Philadelphia, the first capital of the United States. Penn then migrated to the new land with a group of Quakers and started to build a community. One of the many issues that early settlers like William Penn had to face was interactions with the Natives of the New World. The differences between the Native Americans and the settling Europeans were plentiful and great examples are conflicting religious views, social life, family values, and sense of ownership. In fact, it was the latter that sparked multiple problems between the colonizers and the native population. Though the European settlers would try to obtain land through trade, the concept would be completely lost to the Native Americans, who had no sense of ownership. Because of these differences in cultures, the groups soon clashed resulting in sorrow on both sides. Primary Source Three is a letter by William Penn to the Native Americans who inhabit Pennsylvania.
