Water the ultimate green solvent - a presentation in green chemustryJamaicaFiel
power point presentation about water, related to green chemistry, this will provide knowledge on the uses of water, the main resources of water and some of the water pollution that is present nowadays
The total volume of water on Earth is estimated at 1.386 billion km³ (333 million cubic miles), with 97.5% being salt water and 2.5% being fresh water. Of the fresh water, only 0.3% is in liquid form on the surface. In addition, the lower mantle of inner earth may hold as much as 5 times more water than all surface water combined (all oceans, all lakes, all rivers).
This presentation is all about the different types of water resources on the planet Earth and this presentation also shows what kind of cycle that water undergoes to create rain, snow or hail. This presentation is also about how we can find different kinds of things that we normally do that destroys our bodies of water specially climate change and water pollution.
Water is facing a crisis today.
Water scarcity affects all social and economic sectors.
Water footprint measures the consumption and contamination of freshwater resources.
A stem cell is a "blank" cell that can give rise to multiple tissue types such as a skin, muscle, or nerve cell.
Under certain physiologic or experimental conditions, they can be induced to become tissue- or organ-specific cells with special functions.
The muscle are biological motors which convert chemical energy into force and mechanical work.
This biological machinery is composed of proteins – which is actomyosin and the fuel is ATP.
With the use of muscles we are able to act on our environment.
Nervous system forms an interconnecting fibers of communication network.
In the ‘hard-wiring’ of the nerves, the signals travel in the form of a flow of electrical current called nerve impulses.
The stimulus-response reactions afford internal constancy in the face of environmental changes.
Enzymes are dynamic proteins that accelerate biochemical reactions.
Each enzyme acts on a specific reactant, the substrate.
Enzymes are characterized by greater activity, specificity and susceptibility to the influence of pH, temperature and other environmental changes.
Enzymes act in the presence of non-peptide cofactors or coenzymes.
An enzyme lacking its cofactor is called apoenzyme and the active enzyme with its co-factor, the holoenzyme.
Global climate change Refers to changes in any aspects of the earth’s climate including temperature, precipitation and storm intensity and patterns.
Global warming is an increase in Earth’s average surface temperature due to rising levels of greenhouse gases.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

18. A water molecule has one
oxygen atom and two
hydrogen atoms.
The two hydrogen atoms
bound to one oxygen
atom to form a „V‟ shape
at an angle of 105 degree.
The length of the bond
between the oxygen and
the hydrogen is 95.84 pm
(picometre).
The chemical formula for
water is H2O, meaning
two hydrogen atoms
covalently bonded to one
oxygen atom.
19. The water molecule has
a tetrahedral structure
with oxygen at its center.
The two bonds with
hydrogen are directed
toward two corners of
the tetrahedron.
The unshared electrons
occupy the remaining
two corners.
20. Oxygen is negatively
charged with respect to
the two hydrogens in the
water molecule.
Although the water
molecule as a whole is
electrically neutral, the
asymmetric distribution
of electrons results in one
side being positively
charged with respect to
the other.
21. Water has two different poles
(dipole), like that of a magnet.
The water molecule creates a
region of positive charge and
region of negative charge.
when electrons are shared
between oxygen and
hydrogens, they are closer to
the oxygen than the
hydrogens. Therefore the
oxygen has a greater negative
charge due to the greater
electron density.
The hydrogens which are not
very electronegative will have
a greater positive charge due
to the lack of electron density.

a universal solvent.
23. Cohesion is the force of
attraction between
molecules of the same
substance.
The hydrogen bonding
between molecules
makes water more 'sticky'
leading to a higher
degree of cohesion and
adhesion.
Cohesion due to

26. Water scatters and absorbs light. Water
absorbs light at the red end of the spectrum
more easily than at the blue end.
Water conducts sound waves.
Water exerts pressure (i.e. Hydrostatic
pressure= weight of the water).
Water moves from the area of higher solute
concentration to the area of lower solute
concentration until equilibrium is reached.
27. Water is a source of hydrogen and oxygen
for chemical reactions.
Water is a highly reactive molecule which
can form hydrogen bonds with other
molecules.
Water molecule each possess a strongly
nucleophilic oxygen atom that enables
many of life‟s reactions as well as ionizing to
produce reactive hydrogen and hydroxide
ions.
Water combines with salts to form hydrates
and reacts with metal oxides to form acids.
28. There are TWO overlapping water cycles
in nature.
1.Natural water cycle
• Does not involve life
2. Biological water cycle
• Involve life (Biological cycling)
29. Evaporation – the process by
which water changes from liquid
